Read about it and no one with a answer if it's true or not as yet?2 weeks ago it wasn't true. I was able take out 1000 reais at the time at Bradesco ATM's 800 + 200 without a fee.

Banco 24 horas allows you to take out 1000 reais at once, with a 12 reais fee.

I am limited to 1000 reais per 24 hours, per bank account that is.

Seems like last Nov I was getting 1000 at HBSC.

Tried yesterday and didn't work.

Thought something was wrong with the system.

Never thought to try 800 + 200.

Bradesco gave 800, as the 1000 option was not highlighted.

I was OK with that and left.

HSBC too, but beware of cloning.

Banco do Brasil allows 1000, but only at the rare atms with a cirrus / mastercard / visa logo.

If your card allows it you can get $ 1000 out of one bank, and R$ 1000 from another bank

A very strange thread name.

It seems the thread got created instead of a post in another thread.

Why do you single out Hsbc and "cloning"?Years ago, a bunch of people suffered cloning and they all traced it back to HSBC.

My hunch is that it is an international bank, so maybe the Russian mafia hackers sell ready made cloning kits for their ATM's. But I really don't know.

Banco do Brasil seems to be safest, they usually have guards at their ATM's 24 hours a day.

Bradesco is R$ 1. 000, 00When did you get 1000 out of Bradesco? I never ever got 1000, only 800, but have not tried for a few months.

Or Banco do Brasil where you have the ones who have gards at their ATMs.

Isn't that night withdrawal is limited for security reasons?
I mean, not to motivate robbers to assault you as you only get few money.
It happened to me a couple of times and someone told me so.

Citibank has a $R2000 daily limit, but you'll have to make two $R1000 withdrawals. I don't know about other ATM's as my cards do not work on any of the other Brazilian banks.

For American, Citibank is the easiest and least restrictive. HSBC is unpredictable. I can withdraw 1000 R one day, the next day, my card is denied. Usually, for both Citibank and HSBC, if your card is accepted in a good day, the maximal allowance for my credit union is 400 US dollars daily without problems.

GreengoHi, the limit is set by your bank, mine is from the USA limiting to 400 dollars a day.

For americans, I like the Citibank, very friendly and hassle free. Many ATM in Brazil cater to locals so foreigners / tourists using foreign ATM cards have a lot of problems. Citibank have branch on Nossa senora do copacabana no828, and another in nearby Ipanema. Next choice is HSBC Bank, but that is iffy 50 per cent of the times. Be careful after sundown, a lot of robbers linger around to rob you. Better do it in midday.

Max withdrawal per transaction? Any particular bank or banks? GreengoCitibank Max withdrawal of $R1000 per transaction, twice per day, $R2000 Reais total. Citibank Brasil ATM fee is $R19.99 per transaction, ($5.18USD at current exchange rate.) HSBC Brasil has a $R300 daily limit. Banco do Brasil has same withdrawal limits like Citibank, but good luck getting the ATM to work with foreign cards. Also Banco do Brasil receipt does not give ATM fee nor exchange rate info.

GreengoI have been using Citibank and Santander ATM's without problems. Banco do Brasil used to work fine, but now it's been saying, daily limit exceeded, even if I hadn't withdrawn any money that day with my European Visa. Bradesco is giving me only BRL 800 the other two, BRL 1000, which I usually withdraw.
