Planning a fellas trip to Costa Rica in September.
Been to Sosua, DR four years in a row, then Medellin, Colombia last year. Now looking at Jaco, Costa Rica.

Stayed at cocal couple of weeks ago. This was my first time in Jaco (been to SJ 3-4 times before) and I can vouch for the fact that the girls at Cocal were definitely a notch higher than those in Del Rey / sportsmens lodge in SJ.
However, I struggled with finding any girls at Cocal before say 6 PM. Where should I go next time in Jaco for day time action? Are there other hotels / escort services / massage parlours / strip clubs etc that I could visit in the morning / afternoon for girls?Most of the 20/30 / HR massage parlor joints on the main drag are rub and tug joints. If you speak a little Spanish, you can order take out as well. The price, however, has to be negotiated and for the quality, I would just get some numbers from Cocal, man cave, leloft, etc. At night.

Hotel South Beach. South end of the beach and while a bit removed from the downtown, offers a nicer beach and private balconies / patios. Nice pool bar.
Both can be booked on the major hotel sites.

First things first, I've been reading many, many reports for a while and gaining a bunch of "experience" via the shared knowledge of others. For that, I am grateful. I, too, will share my recent visit:
Logistics.
Guys trip. We all separate frequently.
SJO Airport.
Taxi prearranged via Airbnb. About $100 each way. Very high price but we paid extra for tours into and from Jacó.
Airbnb (not recommended for rookies or anybody that's just not hip).

- 4 bd, 4 night, $190–250/ night variable on season.
- walking distance to everything (Casino, bars, clubs, food).
- safe location.
Transportation around:
Foot. Get your lazy ass up and walk 5 min. It's free LOL.
Uber is cheaper, but trash if you're not patient. You wait between 3 min and 30 min for Ride. ($2-3 for about up to 10 min ride).
Local taxi (indicated by small sedans (Nissan Sentra) hanging around almost everywhere) about $2-8 for 2-10 min ride.
Working women:
Quality: ranges from "LOL your old ass needs to give it up" to a 9.2. Everything from toothpick-stripper booty, A cup. G cup.
Quantity: 100 on a good night.
Rates: free (I'll explain later) to $200 (LMAO never pay $200).
Sessions: mind blowing.
Advice: They will highball you. Have finesse while negotiating.
Places:
Advice: Ask the locals where everybody is tonight. As with everything, communication helps if you. Speak the language.
Beach: I actually didn't find much here besides a couple folks actually enjoying the black sand.
Cocal Casino: This is the place where you go to hunt. Well, be hunted. During the day this place is dead, but you'll still find stragglers. Around 9 p a few early arrives then this place starts flooding with beautiful women. If you're wearing your social face and make eye contact, 4/5 she will walk up to you an introduce herself. Hang out near the pool if you're not spending money at the table.
Man Cave: Club. Dead on a Thursday around 9 but elbow to elbow with women on Saturday night. Very fun and lively environment on Saturday night.
LE Loft: was temporarily closed for a week or two.
Black Marlin: Went here on Sunday night. Note. The free session explained:
- Sunday is a very slower paced day in Jacó. Everybody is way more chill. Even the casino! I kept catching eyes with a beautiful Venezuelan here who was "off the clock", whatever that means. Well in my case, that meant she just wanted to literally hang out and smoke (and have some real fun of course). It helps if you're a cool dude. These girls are few and far in between though.
Overall:

Summary.
This first trip of mine to Jaco was enjoyable enough for one visit but did not leave me with a strong desire to return there for primarily mongering purposes. In my opinion, the main advantage of Jaco over San Jose (SJO) and other popular mongering destinations in the Western Hemisphere is the more pleasant and interesting environment for a multifaceted vacation for those that enjoy outdoor activities. The average visual quality of the talent at the Hotel Cocal was clearly higher than that of SJO and arguably as good as I have seen in any non-Colombian or non-Brazilian talent pool. I found some good performers, but the overall atmosphere at the Cocal, the attitudes and behaviors of many of the chicas, and the quality of some of the service often left much to be desired and yielded relatively low value for the relatively high prices. If and when I return to Costa Rica, it would probably be for a multifaceted and outdoors-centric trip, and I would probably do most of my mongering in SJO, rather than Jaco.
Genesis, Planning, and Logistics.
I decided to return to Costa Rica after a few years, during which I have explored other mongering destinations, such as Colombia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Argentina, the Dutch Caribbean, and the Philippines. I chose SJO for my first Latin American mongering trip years ago because it seemed like an easy enough and sufficiently "gringo-friendly" place to pop my mongering cherry. That trip was enjoyable enough to persuade me to pursue this hobby further by trying other places. I had chosen to limit my first trip to SJO and excluded Jaco for several reasons, including SJO's wider variety of mongering options and lower prices and my preference for urban environments at that point in my life. I nonetheless told myself that I would return to visit Jaco at some point in the future.
I reached that point earlier this year, realizing that I had covered most of the other top mongering spots in the Western Hemisphere except Cuba, Tijuana, and Jaco. I had been reading about the slow and painful death of the Del Rey scene and decided to seize the day and sample the Cocal scene before something happened to it too life is short. The higher prices had also been a deterrent, but after my visit to Rio de Janeiro, which was in the same higher price range, that deterrent was less of a factor.
Another key factor was my desire for non-mongering activities during the day. Places like Medellin (MDE) and Angeles City have world-class mongering, but they are poor in non-mongering attractions. My SJO trip not only furthered my interest in mongering, it also sparked my interest in the outdoors, which had been non-existent up to that point. A few nature-centric day trips from SJO persuaded me to pursue this interest further in other mongering destinations, such as Sosua, Cartagena, Curaao, Rio de Janeiro, and the Philippines. My mongering trips led me to take up scuba diving as another reason to travel, which I have tried to combine with mongering wherever possible. The waters around Jaco are not that good for scuba diving but better for surfing and sport fishing. Having acquired a taste for nature underwater, I wanted to explore nature on land a bit more. Jaco was perfect for that purpose, as it is close enough to two national parks and several other such attractions for day trips.
Jaco is harder to reach from New York than many other mongering destinations in the Western Hemisphere. (I had similar issues with flights to other Central American airports for scuba diving.) Most of the flights to SJO leave Florida or Texas at times that are convenient for residents of those states but required me to take flights from New York at ungodly hours of the morning in order to ensure that I could arrive in time for the connecting flights. There was only one direct flight from Newark to SJO on United (ugh); it arrived so late that I would have missed the Cocal action for that night, and the return flights would have left SJO far too early. I decided on Southwest, which was a few hundred dollars cheaper than the alternatives (JetBlue and American). The trip takes nearly 10 hours altogether: a three-hour flight from New York to Fort Lauderdale, a two-hour layover in Fort Lauderdale, another three-hour flight to SJO, and then two hours to get out of the airport and for the drive to Jaco.
I stayed at the Cocal in order to be at ground zero. I like the convenience of having girls on-site, as I did at the Del Rey, at the Mansion in MDE, and even at Campo Alegre in Curaao, where I rented a room. Cocal room rates were on the higher end but within reason and justifiable to me for the convenience, and the rooms were nice. I chose a room near the parking lot, which was probably a wise decision due to the noisy courtyard. There was still some noise in the parking lot as guys and chicas trickled out of the courtyard after they shut down that area after midnight. The room rate included breakfast, and I ate most of my lunches and all of my dinners on-site too. Meal prices were reasonable, and the food was good. My total bill for food and drinks for seven nights and six days was about $300. The maid always provided me with more than enough towels for two or more sessions a day.
Everything that I had read about the Cocal scene indicated that it was heavily weekend-centric, even more so than that of, say, Sosua. I would normally leave on a Saturday and return on a Saturday, in order to minimize the amount of my finite vacation time that I would have to use, so the weekend-centric dynamic was not as good of a fit for my preferences. I finally decided to try something different and bite the bullet by arriving on a Thursday, in order to give myself time to adjust in preparation for the peak action on the weekend. I decided to stay a full week, leaving the following Thursday. The travel time was too long for just a long weekend trip, there were more non-mongering activities that I wanted to do during the day, and I wanted to sample the talent pool on off-peak days too. I have found in other destinations that slower or off-peak times, despite the often smaller selection, often yield better experiences for me, which turned out to be true in this case as well (more on that below). Two of my best sessions were on Monday night, and my two worst sessions were on Saturday night.
The Scene.
A recurring theme in the trip reports that I read was that visitors found the initial visual appeal of the Cocal talent pool quite impressive, and I would agree. It was certainly much greater than that of the Del Rey when I was there years ago, after its peak but before its slow and painful death, and probably better on average than that of the broader SJO talent pool. In other words, I would agree with the notion that the Cocal talent pool probably represents the "A Team" of Costa Rica, at least in terms of their clothed appearance. It was also probably better than that of Sosua, unless one has a special taste or preference for black or biracial girls. In fact, I would say that the Cocal talent pool appeared at first glance to be as good as I have seen in the Western Hemisphere outside of Brazil, Colombia, or other places with high proportions of Colombians and Venezuelans, such as Curaao or Sint Maarten.
With that said, many chicas that I pulled were less physically impressive once their clothes came off. I learned during my first trip to SJO that many chicas there had a knack for concealing their physical flaws with their clothing, and it appeared that many of the Jaco chicas had similar skills. I have occasionally encountered this phenomenon in Sosua and rarely with Colombians or in Brazil, where I would say that the girls on average had much better bodies than the ones in either SJO or Jaco. Common flaws included flabby asses, saggy tits, bellies, and questionable plastic surgery. I learned my lesson and prioritized chicas with more revealing outfits, but that tactic can only achieve so much.
One advantage of Costa Rica is the wider variety of chicas from other countries, such as Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. A few Nicas made a strong impression on me with their quality service during my SJO trip, and I had been looking forward to more Nicas in Jaco. The Cocal Nicas were, on average, not as easy on the eyes as most of the other girls, but I did pull two of them: one of them yielded one of my better sessions, and the other one yielded my worst session.
There were some Colombians, but most of them were older, and many were past their expiration dates. I suspect that they left Colombia because they had grown too old to compete there. I found it an interesting reflection of the discrepancy between the quality of the talent of the two countries that representatives of Colombia's "be Team" could compete in Jaco with what would arguably be representatives of Costa Rica's "A Team. " I pulled one MILF from MDE who provided some of the best service that I had in Jaco, as I would expect from a paisa. I did not encounter a single Dominican or Panamanian, but I did pull one Tica with Panamanian roots. All of my other pulls were Ticas.
The Cocal was significantly busier on the weekend, with the widest selection of chicas on Friday and Saturday, somewhat fewer chicas on Thursday and Sunday, and even fewer chicas on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. My pre-trip research had left me with the impression that the action might be too slow on weeknights, but I found that the selection of chicas was still more than adequate on those slower nights. Indeed, my results were better overall on those slower nights and not as good on those busier nights. I think that the higher volume of potential business and greater competition on busier nights changes the chicas' behaviors, encouraging them to rush their sales pitches and provide quicker, shoddier service in order to move on to the next potential client as soon as possible. In contrast, perhaps the slower nights encouraged them to invest more time and effort in actual or potential clients in the hopes of repeat business on such slower nights. I also sensed that the weekend-only crowd had less of an interest in repeat business than the all-week crowd, since they spent less time there.
The Cocal chicas were more aggressive and persistent than those that I have seen anywhere other than Buenos Aires. Their sales pitches were nonetheless often cold and unpersuasive, compared to other places. They were often abrupt, proposing sessions right off the bat or at a very early stage in the conversation. They often "popped the question" without asking the basic screening questions that chicas usually ask, such as where I am from, the length of my stay, my number of visits to the country, or even my name. Chicas ask such questions to assess one's potential value as a repeat client, which influences their motivation to provide quality service. I view the absence of these screening questions as a red flag, as it may indicate a lack of interest in repeat business (and thus shoddy service), and it does not establish a sound basis for GFE. Many of the hottest girls also had unappealing attitudes that probably stemmed from their hotness, as if they felt entitled to business solely because they are hot and saw no need to make an effort on the interpersonal level. I had to readjust to this phenomenon, which I had encountered before but have found to be rarer among Colombians and Brazilians. Perhaps because they come from countries where hot girls practically grow on trees and thus may not have such a sense of entitlement. The Cocal chicas were also typically less tactile than those in other destinations, and some of them also seemed a bit less comfortable with my own tactile attempts to check out their merchandise. In other destinations, I might interview two to three chicas before finding a suitable one, but in Jaco it occasionally took from six to eight tries before I found suitable pulls.
A higher proportion of Cocal chicas spoke English than I have encountered in any other destination, including SJO. Many found it remarkable that I was proficient in Spanish, or that I even bothered to speak Spanish at all. I have always presumed that proficiency in Spanish would be advantageous, but that did not appear to be the case here. In fact, one of the chicas that I pulled suggested that I should speak only English and pretend not to speak Spanish so that I could eavesdrop on the chicas if and when they spoke about me behind my back in Spanish. I eventually switched to English whenever possible, and it did yield better results, perhaps because it gave me a linguistic "home field advantage."
My pre-trip research and reading of trip reports did not prepare me for what appeared to be standard payment procedures at the Cocal. Almost every chica with whom I negotiated insisted during those negotiations that I place the agreed sum on the nightstand at the beginning of the session, for her to take at the end of the session. Not a single chica would agree to what is widely accepted among mongers as the best practice and, in my experience, has been the typical procedure for the majority of freelancers in other destinations (including SJO): to hold the money myself until the end of the session. If I had stuck to that best practice, I doubt that I would have had any sessions. It would appear that the "Jaco Puta Union" has not only succeeded in raising the typical price point but also in enforcing a practice that works to the advantage of the chicas and against mongers' interests. The chica can just grab the money, in which case the monger has effectively paid her in advance, leaving her with little or no motivation to perform well. Of the fifteen chicas that I pulled, thirteen of them respected this arrangement and left the money on the nightstand until the end of the session, but two of them did not, and those two were the worst performers. By the same token, I cannot help but wonder if this practice contributed to what I found to be, on average, a lower quality of service than that of freelancers in other destinations who performed with the money out of sight until the end of the session. Even those that respect this arrangement know that they can take the money at any time, which must decrease their motivation. I asked chicas the reason for this practice; some cited non-paying customers, but others noted that it was standard procedure for USA Escorts, and that they were simply following suit with USA Customers.
I had read in previous trip reports that CBJ was common in Jaco. Those trip reports did not prepare me for the full extent of its pervasiveness, which was greater than it was among freelancers in all of the other destinations that I have visited, including SJO. The only place where I found CBJ to be just as or more pervasive was in Mexican brothels or chica bars, where CBJ may be a house rule due to government regulations. In my experience, I have been able to negotiate BBBJ with a majority of freelancers that I have interviewed in other destinations, while a large minority insisted on CBJ; I would say that the ratio for me has been 60:40 or 2:1. In Jaco, I would say that one out of four chicas was amenable to BBBJ during negotiations, and many of them that initially agreed to it either did not honor that agreement or did so little BBBJ that I might as well have settled for a more thorough CBJ instead. I have heard of guys having similar problems with chicas reneging on BBBJ agreements in other destinations, but it had never happened to me before in all those other destinations that I visited until I came to Jaco. CBJ is, in my opinion, a hallmark of sub-standard service, and I normally reject CBJ-only chicas unless there is something else especially appealing about them.
Fifteen Chicas.
Below are notes on the fifteen chicas that I pulled. I have provided as much detail as possible in order to facilitate the identification of these chicas in person, including photos where available, but I am terrible at remembering names and prices. I stayed within the typical range of $100-150 and fluctuated within it based on the chica's visual appeal, the volume of activity on that night and at that time of night, and the available service items (E. G. CBJ vs. BBBJ). I have ranked them very roughly according to the quality of their service, from the better ones at the top to the worse ones at the bottom.
Paisa MILF This tall, slender Colombiana (see the attached photo) agreed to BBBJ without hesitation and delivered it quite voraciously, as if she wanted to devour my cock. She was quite athletic and displayed more energy and stamina than many of the younger Ticas, riding me vigorously in multiple variations of cowgirl and fucking me back in doggystyle. Amanda This dime was one of my hottest pulls from the entire trip. Carara National Park was dark and had few other visitors; it was better for smaller animals, such as frogs and birds. Manuel Antonio was well-lit and had many large crowds; it was better for larger mammals, such as monkeys and sloths. If anyone is interested in guided tours of these parks, please contact me for details on the company that provided my guide. I also took a Monkey Mangrove boat tour of the Damas Island Estuary near Manuel Antonio, where one can see many monkeys, lizards, birds, and other animals. I also did a boat trip to Tortuga Island, where one can snorkel, stroll along the beach, or hike on the hill trails. Also in Jaco itself is Neofauna, an animal sanctuary that also has an on-site waterfall tour and other tours in other places.
The route to and from Manuel Antonio passes through the town of Quepos, where I saw "Bar La Rosa," which appeared to be a strip club or a chica bar. On the way back from Puntarenas (where the boat to and from Tortuga Island docks), I saw chicas in tight dresses standing by the side of the road; perhaps they were trying to pick up the many truck drivers that pass through there. I understand that SJO and Jaco are the main mongering hubs in Costa Rica, but I wonder where the local guys who live outside of those places find their paid pussy. Conclusion.

In contrast, the scenes in MDE and Rio de Janeiro are largely bereft of such gringo hordes and thus remain relatively pristine sources of quality talent and service. The best chicas that I found in Jaco would be just about average in MDE or Rio.
I would say that the mongering component of my SJO trip was better in absolute terms and yielded significantly better value for the money. SJO has a wider range of options at lower prices, even with the slow and painful death of the Del Rey. Jaco was better than SJO only in terms of the chicas' clothed appearances, the overall pleasantness of the environment, and the daytime outdoor activities nearby. Those activities were my other reason for this trip, as there are few other destinations where one can do them and smash chicas in the same place, and in that regard the trip was a success. I knew that I was going to pay a premium for the convenience of having chicas in such a place and was comfortable with that. I did not, however, expect the average quality of the service to be that low, and the atmosphere and chicas' attitudes to be as they were, and I am accordingly hesitant to return there for those reasons.
Perhaps I could overlook those shortcomings if Jaco were as cheap and convenient as Sosua, but it is not. In fact, it was one of my most expensive mongering trips, in the same price range as Rio de Janeiro, where the physical quality of the talent is significantly higher and the consistent quality of the service is vastly superior. The only downside to the scene in Rio is the language barrier, but this experience in Jaco reminded me that sometimes the lack of a common language can be advantageous. The length of the total travel time to Rio de Janeiro was comparable but more convenient in the form of a direct overnight flight from JFK, albeit with significantly higher airfare. As for outdoor activities, Rio has the beach, hiking, and rock climbing, but the nature and wildlife that interest me would require a second leg of a Brazil trip in the Amazon or the Pantanal. In contrast, two Tico national parks are accessible from Jaco as day trips. Also in the higher price range is Cartagena, which would be easier for me to reach in a six-hour direct flight from New York and has a higher quality of talent and service. It is slightly less demanding in terms of chica management but is poorer in outdoor attractions.
After two visits to Costa Rica, I think that I like it more as a country overall than as a mongering destination per se. In contrast, Colombia and overseas Colombianas remain my gold standard for mongering, but Colombia itself is rather unappealing to me as a country overall. What both mongering and scuba diving have taught me is that you can rarely have your cake and eat it too. Top mongering spots, such as MDE, SJO, or Angeles City, may be otherwise unappealing places to visit. The best diving spots are often in remote areas with few or no other attractions, such as Costa Rica's Cocos Island, which is a 36-hour boat ride from Puntarenas. It is hard to find places that are good for both mongering and mainstream tourism, which often do no coexist well; the latter may undermine the former, as I believe to be the case in Jaco. My current "sweet spots" in that regard include Curaao and Sint Maarten, which are almost equally good for both mongering and scuba diving. I might return to Costa Rica if and when I want to see more terrestrial wildlife, in which case I would probably stop in SJO for a few days at either end of that trip for some mongering. I would only visit Jaco again if I wanted to see those two nearby national parks again, or on my way to or from the boat to Cocos Island.

This first trip of mine to Jaco was enjoyable enough for one visit but did not leave me with a strong desire to return there for primarily mongering purposes. In my opinion, the main advantage of Jaco over San Jose (SJO) and other popular mongering destinations in the Western Hemisphere is the more pleasant and interesting environment for a multifaceted vacation for those that enjoy outdoor activities. The average visual quality of the talent at the Hotel Cocal was clearly higher than that of SJO and arguably as good as I have seen in any non-Colombian or non-Brazilian talent pool. I found some good performers, but the overall atmosphere at the Cocal, the attitudes and behaviors of many of the chicas, and the quality of some of the service often left much to be desired and yielded relatively low value for the relatively high prices. Perhaps things have changed since your last visit a few years ago, as when the "Jaco Puta Union" made $150 the new initial asking price for many. It was quite consistent across the board with almost every girl with whom I negotiated; the only ones that did not want it on the nightstands were the ones that wanted to take it right away. The diving there is great; the mongering. Not so much. I had low expectations for the quality of the service, based on what I had read about Sabang in the "Other Areas" section of the Philippines forum, and what I found was along the lines of what I read there. Other possibilities in the Philippines that I have been considering include Cebu and Subic Bay, which have both good diving and good mongering, and Dumaguete, which is primarily a diving spot that also has some mongering.
I think that there is a volcano that one can visit as a day trip from AC. Most of my nature exploration thus far has been underwater, so I am not yet as familiar with the terrestrial nature attractions of the Philippines. But my impression is that good nature and good mongering are often hard to find in the same place.

I've been mongering in Tijuana for several years and log over 150 hours / week in Tijuana so I'm getting kind of tired of the scene and looking to explore new places in Latin America, specifically CR and Cartegena. Why go to a third world country to monger and pay first world prices? Why are prices in CR so inflated? The average low-skill worker in Tijuana earns roughly $12/ day. And for a puta to earn $80 in 30 minutes in my opinion is too much. But at Cocal top shelf putas won't budge from $150?
In Tijuana the mongering scene is concentrated basically on one block. Hong Kong Bar is the undisputed king and on weekends you'll see 300+ putas packed in its 3 stories, weekdays maybe 120. Adelita's will have 180/80, Tropical 100/50, Chicago Bar 80/50, Las Chavelas 80/50 and there are maybe 12 other lesser bars on the block. This helps a lot. Sounds like the same experience that I had 5 years ago at the Del Rey in SJ. Adequate service, but nothing special.Actually, I did better in SJO than I did in Jaco, at least in terms of service and value for the money. Jaco had hotter girls, but lower quality service at higher prices than SJO. I had some good service in SJO at reasonable prices, even though I was a total newbie at the time.
If you want more consistently quality service, with the type of service items that you mentioned, go to Colombia (if you speak Spanish and / or want low prices) or Brazil (if you do not speak Spanish and / or are willing to pay top dollar for top-notch talent and service). Tonight was my first night back here in Jaco in about a year. I've been here many times before but tonight I just couldn't partake. I was in Jaco and many other small towns recently.
I have read many of these threads and I guess it depends on what you want.
If you go just for short terms fun, the Cocal is not a great option for reasons everyone before has said. Although I do advise going to eat dinner and enjoy the sites and some flirting. The food is decent too.
However, many of these girls also go to other clubs like Orange Theory, Man Cave, Republika and more. There they lighten a bit are less mechanical and more fun. For $80-100 you should be able to find something fun. Keep in mind not all these girls work but when you talk, they will let you know.

SJ-JACO 1. 30-2. 5,2019.
Transportation:
Took the redeye from LFT to IAH and met up with two of the four wing men that live in Houston. Boarded the 730 am flight down to SJO and after about five minutes on the plane the pilot told us there was some kind of issue with the hydraulic level on one of the hydraulic pumps on the plane so we had to deplane, wait two hours get on another plane and finally took off about two hours late. Once we got into SJO apparently three other flights had arrived just before us so there was over an hour wait in customs. Met up with an Uber driver that I have used before and we're stuck in traffic for an hour getting to the hotel Castillo. Overall we were about 4 hours late getting to the hotel Castillo. Leaving SJO was not an issue, We actually got to Houston about 10 or 15 minutes early. As usual there was still another plane at our gate so we wound up sitting on the tarmac for 50 minutes. Last flight to LFT was uneventful. It simply amazes me in this day and age of computers technology and logistical experts how the hydraulic pump is not checked the night before, yet it is checked five minutes before scheduled take off and found to be suspect enough to ground the plane. And then the 50 minutes on the tarmac in IAH coming back, I guess the air traffic controllers were on break. Just aggravating as can be, several people missed their connecting flight. Customs in IAH was less than 5 minutes. TGF Global Re-entry!!
Lodging:
Spent the Wednesday night at the Hotel Castillo, awesome as usual with the all-inclusive. Darren told one of my friends that lunch was not included in the all-inclusive as he was trying to get lunch on Thursday and had to pay cash for it. I had never heard that before. I had room 23 which in my opinion is one of the best rooms over there with its own private balcony overlooking the zoo and some mountains, I think it is looking north. Very nice room. Also stayed there in the same room on Monday night on the way back home. Did not get to eat lunch because the grill didn't open till noon and I had to leave for the airport. In Jaco we stayed at the Vistamar 7 D which is the five bedroom penthouse which is awesome with the most spectacular view in the condos. We will not be staying there again because the owners have changed the rules. You have to pay the entire $4800 to reserve the room and there are no refunds whatsoever. So if you pay the $4800 today, cancel tomorrow you lose your $4800. Absolutely ridiculous! They have to know that penthouse and every condo in the Vistamar will be rented Super Bowl weekend. We will look elsewhere next year.
Food:
Hotel Castillo food was awesome as usual. We hit the taco bar Thursday night in Jaco then Amanacias Italian restaurant Friday and Saturday. Sunday we ate tuna that we had caught. Monday afternoon in SJ stopped into Chubbs for a plate of wings and they did not disappoint. I always go to Chubbs and this trip was no exception.
Fishing:
This was a an average to weak trip. Friday we landed one Sail and 3 mahi-mahi, the mahi were very large so we had a lot of fish to bring home. Saturday we landed 4 sails, one huge mahi and 6 YFT. Myself and another wing man brought soft packs as luggage down there, culled out some T-shirts and socks and each brought about 30 pounds of fish back to the state. My bag got flagged and SJO but once the supervisor saw my boarding pass with United on it he said go ahead. Apparently some airlines do not allow fish to be carried on. I also got flagged in IAH but the guy just asked a couple of questions and let me through. One thing I have learned is that the charter boat owners set a limit on how far they can go out so that they don't have to pay a whole lot of gas. I have always wondered why the tournament fisherman catch 40-50 saifish a day and why we struggle to catch three or four and that's a good day. The difference is the tournament fisherman do not care how much gas they burn, they want to go to where the fish are, the charter captains care about how much gas they burn or they are limited by their owner so they don't go out as far.
Cigars: We Went to Don Benignos cigar rolling factory / house over near the American Embassy. Smoked a sample and bought 3 boxes cigars. IMHO, These are every bit as good as the real Cubans you can buy elsewhere in San Jose. The leaves and the seeds are brought from Cuba to Costa Rica as Don still has connections in Cuba. His father was a tobacco farmer in Cuba and had his farm taken over by Castro in early 60's. If you go and decide to buy a box, I think you get about a 10% discount if you pay cash and another $10-$20 off if you buy the bundle instead of the box. I bought the boxes but next time will ask for bundles as I have a humidor over here. Although the boxes make transportation a lot easier.

I must have gone back in time or a space vortex or something. I saw more hotties in SL than I have ever seen before, at least 5-6 8's-9's, beautiful spinners. Rooms are not available from outside search but they are from their own website. To my surprise, they are showing $400 for a night. I won't have much left for Chicas after spending for the room. Are the rooms that expensive or is it just the day that I am searching for (memorial weekend). Are there other recommened places close by which are chica friendly? TIA.
Headed to Costa Rica in August with the fellas for 5 nights. After reading everybody's post, I walked away with several perspectives from my understanding, please correct me on any point if I'm wrong, and assist me in my understanding. I also have a couple questions.

I splurged and stayed at Croc's and nailed my chicas at Balcon Del Mar (a dump). Jaco only for the weekend. Go zip lining in Arenal or Monteverde and ATV'ing in Jaco. My two days in San Jose were wasted, but had a nice meal at La Criolitta.
I would like to know more about girl friendly places in Jaco. My room at Balcon Del Mar was a mistake that turned out useful. I have no idea where to have fun with the girls.

It's a shared ride so you stop at each pickup and dropoff location depending on other bookings, and then they make a pit stop about halfway at La Puesta del Sol so you can use the bathroom, get some food, and shop at a tourist trap. They meet their schedule and are easier than taking the local bus lines, and have air conditioning. I still found it hot, cramped, damn slow, and the radio is a power struggle among 9 people.
Tried Uber from San Jose airport to Cocal in Jaco during November 2018 and felt the benefits were worth the extra $25 USD; if you have two or more people then Uber would definitely be cheaper than Interbus. It's faster, driver can stop along way if you want something, radio is yours and, as a hidden benefit, you're not sharing a ride with other people who aren't mongering. My driver offered a cash option of 25,000 colones before we confirmed the Uber ride, but as a solo I didn't want the risk so kept it on the app and he was fine with it.
Aside from Cocal the one massage place I tried in Jaco had no showers, using just wet wipes instead, and only did a handy finish. That same week I went to San Jose and at Pension Monica about $40 USD was full service with a real shower at start & end, with both of us washing each other, and she did a fairly good massage too.
In San Jose my experience has only been with two hotels:
Hotel Del Rey (HDR) - ground zero for constant action, but like any place will have hours of the day that the lineup will encourage you to look elsewhere. Their rooms are fine for sex but I don't like sleeping there, and have never had a meal there since there are other more interesting options nearby. Chicas available early in the morning and low prices then too.
Sportsmens Lodge (SL) - more like a sports bar, and my favorite spot so far. Has better rooms, chicas tend to be 6's and up, and as the sun goes down the choices increase. Breakfast buffet is included, lunches and dinners are good with a fair variety of options. Not many chicas before noon, but after that it starts to increase quickly.
Since you only have 5 nights available, and likely need to fly in & out of San Jose, your time in country will be short making time more important than money. If you stay in Jaco and want to play tourist you'll need a ride to see the nearby sights, or just pay a tour operator for the trip of your choice. There are plenty of them with ad boards lining the main street offering sight seeing, zip lining, surfing, ATV, and sport fishing. Some of the ones I saw would pick up and drop off at your hotel, but I haven't used them. Was tempted to take a diving trip but instead went surfing since it was easier and really didn't feel like an organized excursion. If every guy in your group is on the same schedule and mindset then great! Otherwise, it's nice to have options or break up in smaller groups for different day trips. Bring you own suntan lotion, a swim shirt with UV rating (cuts down on lotion use), and then bug spray if you head into the forest.
I'd land, buy liquor in the Duty Free shop by baggage claim, take an Uber direct to Jaco, check in and unload, hit the supermarket for snacks, then try the Cocal bar. Next two days are day trips or kicked back, with the evenings spent "shopping" for a Cocal chica. Take an Uber back to San Jose to hotel of choice, try a pension, dinner, chica from the bar, sleep in, see a museum, pension again, nap, dinner and overnight with a chica, morning glory, breakfast, and off to the airport unless you have time & energy for another pension stop first. Hey, you only get one chance at life, may as well make the memories while you can!

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a newbie what is FWIW, BDR, and YMMV? Is it you were "smart" enough to sneak women in? Balcon Del Mar and Mango Mar is top on my list. I'm also looking at I'm Flamboyant, Selina or whatever is closest to Cocal.
Put together a last minute trip so I could not arrange a room for Cocal or Mango Mar. Booked at Balcon del Mar. Near the signature line on their check in paperwork was a note for Companions with a couple of blank lines I assume to document "visitors". I did not ask management what that meant. I ran into one of my old favoritas at Cocal. She said no problema going there then she confirmed this with one of her amigas. Off we went around 10 pm. I was in the suite at the top above reception. I scoped out a way to get to the stairs around the side of the office versus going through the office which I scoped out in advance. No one stopped us. However, FWIW other chicas at Cocal said BDR was off limits. I dunno YMMV.
FWIW is For What It's Worth. YMMV is Your Mileage May Vary. And I guess BDR is Back Door Receiving. I hope this helps.

Flew in. Bought local SIM card even before getting out of the secure area. Took care of departure papers right away, not to lose time on the last day.
Took a shuttle and rented a car.
Drove to San Jose.
Upon arrival from and before departure to the airport stayed one night at Hotel La Amistad.
There is very loud railroad line on one side of the Hotel.
Booked on the other side. Somewhat better.
Girl friendly, but girls do not hang out there much, as Sportsmen's lodge is a known spot literally two minutes away walking distance.
Food at La Amistad is excellent.
Looked for ticas at Sportmen's Lodge or HDR.
HDR is a hit and miss. I would call it rather dirty. Definitely not classy. Cocal is much nicer. Checked out from HDR rather accommodating full bodied tica, that I still have fond memories of)).
Sportsmen's Lodge IMHO is better, but not 24 x 7. I once met there a law school student Carla that was super hot. Also had a girl that was good to begin with, but then she drank too much, and I went to my room leaving her at the La Amistad bar downstairs. 15 minutes later she decided to go join me. Receptionist called me saying that. I explained to receptionist that I do not love her anymore. He calmly suggested not to open my door for her. She scratched a little and left.
Next day I drove to Jaco in my rental. Beautiful ride.
Used my points to stay at great Marriott Los Suenos hotel. It is not girl friendly, as it is more of an upscale family oriented establishment.
Checked-in and made a note that there are two persons in my suite. Reception asked the name of the second guest. I explained that this would be my corporate Spanish interpreter and I do not have her name at the moment. She smiled and didn't object.
Drive one way between Marriott and Cocal in Jaco is 16 minutes. When I brought new girls from Cocal to Marriott, there was a Marriott guard in the booth and the gate controlled around the clock. He asked for my room number, I gave it in Spanish, they saw my new girl, different one every evening. And I proceeded, but not to the main front entrance. I didn't want not go to our room bypassing vigilante receptionists. I did a shortcut to the parking lot on the right and we walked through the grass into a side entrance. Worked many times.
Had one beauty staying with me for 3 days and nights, going to swimming pool, restaurant for buffet and everything else. To her credit she had very good manners. Most ticas are very nice. Dominicanas can be noisy and arrogant. Taking them that far away is a gamble, but I played it OK.
I usually drove visiting girls back to Cocal, but one of them ordered a cab in the morning, and went out through the main Marriott entrance, where judging by her very revealing non-family oriented outfit, she was stopped by the employee with an attempt for interrogation. She frowned, ignored and departed. I explained that she is my friend, and thanked the guy for being watchful and taking care of guests safety.
One of the days I checked out from Marriott, went sight seeing at Manuel Antonio National Park, and on the way back decided to have a 12 noon lunch at Cocal. Food there is also quite decent. Just myself, no girls, as I had no local place to stay anymore. My plan was after eating, drive straight to San Jose, stay there 2 nights already having a reservation at La Amistad, have a girl or two at massage places, and so on, just like Flytoplay prescribed.
Except walking into the restaurant I ran into gorgeous Elenita. She joined me for lunch, then we checked with her sleeping roommate at Cocal, who refused to provide us with a landing spot. We ended up driving along the main Jaco street Pastor Diaz looking at various options and finding very cheap studio under 10 K colones a night, but we didn't care. Two hours later, sweaty and happy, we went out of the room to find German bikers curiously looking at our relaxed faces (Elenita was very loud while appreciating in our newly found room my admiration for her delights and amenities).
Called La Amistad, to warn I'll be 1 day left. No Problem. Spent another 24 hours in Jaco, having great fun with Elenita, then left her for eventual solo drive to San Jose. The usual adventures followed upon arrival, almost missing my flight in the morning.
Sammon is right. It may make a sense to rent a car. Then girls will go with you wherever you stay. And most of them easily agreed to stay with me overnight afterwards for nominal pay or even without. Without points this Marriott can be pricey though, especially during the high season. But there is a great maze of interconnected swimming pools and channels plus beautiful food and drinks bar with chair seats in the water, and secret corners to have a kiss with a hot tica.

Makes for a lot of fun when it's clearly a buyer's market and most are not going to make money that night. The quality of the talent was very enjoyable, but it's definitely not all peaches & cream. Haven't seen it on a weekend yet, so can't offer that comparison. Did encounter a couple of women who were clearly either not interested in me, or who just wanted to socialize with friends, but they were a minority and easily avoided since they stayed rooted in one spot just talking with one another. Otherwise it's a hell of an experience with that much of a disparity in numbers, and I'd love to take a newbie there just to see their face the first time!
Also don't know about the casino area inside during that time of night. Have only been into the casino once, just out of curiosity and that was mid-morning but didn't see any working girls inside.

" It has been 6 years since I have been to Jaco, but will probably be back in a few months. It worked then and I plan to do it again when I make a return trip.

Those would be chica friendly. Or just ask directly what their guest policy is. Most houses that don't allow guests will say "no parties or events".

Spent the weekend in Jaco at the Cocal. First visit back in two years. The chicas are pretty hardened pros at the Cocal. They are definitely clock watchers so plan for exactly one hour unless you make a different agreement. The hottest chicas (young and thin) are asking $200 and accepting $150. I'm staying at Hotel Ibiza tonight. They have several rooms that face the street, on the outside, so you don't have to go through reception. I say chica-acceptable, rather than chica-friendly, because they still want you to register guests at check-in. Or just walk in or call the day you need it.

Had a long call with "boots on the ground" in Jaco yesterday. First, the situation at the Cocal:
The outdoor pool / Tiki bar is NOT open, nor is the casino. This includes the casino bar in the slot machine area. The "new" Cocal bar area is in the restaurant side, which has been expanded. Masks are required to enter, but can be removed once you are seated to eat or drink. He said there were "a hundred" girls this past weekend with about 10 guys. The action closes much earlier because of curfews for weeknights (10 pm) and weekends (8 pm).
General: Masks are required to enter any facility and you will have your temperature screened.
Additional comments:
-The HDR remains closed and the "owner", John, is still alive and kicking. Security at the HDR reports that the Blue Marlin bar may not even reopen and the DelMar / Key Largo, is up for sale.
-The Colonial Casino is open, but very limited to tables that are open. San Jose in general, is a "ghost town".
-Make sure you have verification and proof of the required Covid insurance or you will be extremely delayed at Immigration.
-Recent heavy rains caused a lot of landslides on the route to Jaco. You may expect delays if traveling between Jaco and SJO as they work on clean-up (one group of travelers to Jaco said it took them 5 hours from the airport due to major road closures as the clean-up was underway.

Cocal is open, although I don't know how long it goes in the night. During the day, plenty of choices, though I did not see any superstars. I don't see any reason ever paying more than $100-150. But it could go higher if you encounter a savy girl there. However, around the cocal it is easy to catch the girls on the street before they are in there, and if you can talk and are likable and if it is slow, maybe you can get to $80. The hot girls will not bother for less than $100 and probably about $120 and of course they will try to get much more.
On Pastor Diaz, there are also plenty of Nicas and in the big red building or right next to it I think there are cabins where Nicas stay and I did see them go as low as $50 although I don't know ymmv.

After a long shutdown, finally had a chance to flap my rusted wings again and headed to my favorite mongering destination of Central America. I made my way from SJDS into Costa Rica. I made some touristy stops along the way and ended up in Jaco on my way to SJO.
I won't get in the logistical challenges I encountered related to closed borders, ever changing Covid testing rules for entering countries, fights over test being 72 versus 74 hours old etc etc. I just managed through all those as I had time on my hand (on sabbatical after 20 years at my firm!) and money to throw at the problems and see them magically (and sometimes not so magically) disappear.
Jaco has never been on top of my pussy chasing destinations. I think it is over rated, expensive, beach is rocky and Costa Rica food is meh at best. It rained quite a bit when it was supposed to be the 'dry' season but fortunately no major flooding on Pastor Diaz. I stayed in Airbnb (Paradise Villa) off the main strip across from the beach. Nice location but the place itself, nothing to write home about. Jaco is alive and seems to be thriving with western tourists. I saw hordes of American and Canadian families on the main strip, restaurants and on the beach. Mask enforcement is not in place and lot of times I found myself only one wearing one.
Those who are unfamiliar with scene is Jaco, it doesn't have the Pensions / Casas as in San Jose or other Central American cities. If they do exist, I am certainly not aware of any! The main action is in Cocal, Crocs (never been there) and massage parlors on Pastor Diaz. There is a cluster of massage places starting from the big red building heading towards Alamo car rental. On the other side (heading towards Max o Menos), there are couple places but I didn't visit those. The chicas hang outside the MPs and you can't really miss these places -especially if you are single or group of men only walking on the strip. Sadly they range on the scale of 3-6 at best, maybe a 7 once in a while.
On my first day I was going to a Thai restaurant which is past Alamo and came across a MP sign (see photo). I decided to take a de tour. There were 5 chicas huddled on the couch. Jaco in January. I used AirBNB to book and appartment, I checked the host rules, seemed ok, But when It was booked they came with more rules. No visitors unless there is a ID before checking in. Not what I had in mind. Does anyone one have good info on a reasonably price apartment close to the beach that doesn't restrict visitors?

Hello There,
I am in Jaco now and the government announced a 9 pm curfew daily. I am not sure when this curfew will end; but it is not a good time to be in Costa Rica now until this thing dies down.
Prior to the lockdown, I can say that this is my 3rd trip to Jaco Beach and the number of girls here has seemed to improve over my last 2 trips 3 years and 5 years ago. Apparently, due to the Hotel Del Rey closing down many girls from San Jose have started coming down here to work. Also, there seem to be some Nicaraguans, Colombians, and Dominicans that work here as well. Of course, the local Costa Rica girls known as "Ticas" are still the majority nationality here and are very nice but the majority are non-GFE and very business like me for me.
Pricing: Girls are asking anywhere from $150 to 200 and some will negotiate to as low as $100 or $120 but some will hold their price and lose a client if you attempt to negotiate.
Attitude of the girls is mixed with a few girls being nice but the majority are very professional and at times even give lousy performance. I would much rather have been in Brazil or Colombia if possible (restrictions are just as bad).
Food: There are plenty of great restaurant options in Jaco a few of which are Lemon Zest (higher end), Tsunami Sushi, Graffiti Resto, Tsunami Sushi, Amancio's Pizza (other dishes are good besides Pizza), and even the Cocal Hotel Restaurant.
Weather: The weather now has been unbelievable but can get a little too humid and warm. Rainfall is very low at this time.
Money: The banks give you the best exchange rate for Colones which we currently received 608 colones per USD. Your next best bet for exchanging money is at the ATM machines.
At the Cocal, you are better off paying in USD and the girls prefer USD.
Will be interesting to see how the new curfew affects our mongering.
The good news are; the Casino and grounds are open for business.
The not so good news; almost anything else.
The pool bar is closed.
The place closes at 9 pm.
Only few chicas are allowed at any one time.
The line outside for the chicas to enter the grounds is long and time consuming (maybe 2 hours after 7 pm) making many of them.
Especially from countries other tnah Costa Rica, not to come to Cocal any more.

Best is to rent a room ($100-150 depending on the day). Then choose a chica on the waiting line.

Right now it is difficult on all sides the owners, the chicas and costumers. Yet is still better than nothing and accessible fiarly easy fro the USA.

Anyone able to speak on the current average P2P price rn in Jaco beach. Eyeing end of the month first trip.I just back on Friday. Stayed at Cocal. The first day I paid $150 (because I didn't know better). After that, I never paid more than $100 (I had 25-30 girls during my stay), with the exception of $350 for an overnight (which was a waste of money) and a $150 for an overnight (which was a waste of money). I usually just accepted $100 when offered. My last week there, I hung with a few guys that paid between $60-80, I didn't believe them until they hooked me up with an ultra-hot 18 YO for $70. She didn't even barter with them. I think the difference is that I asked them how much they wanted, while the guys told them what they were willing to pay. If you go to Hotel Cocal and are willing to deal with some of the older hookers (they are a pain in the ass and will bleed you dry), you can ask one of them to take you to an afterparty. Once you meet the people running the after-parties they will let you and your friends in. Just as a side note, 4 of the nights I was there, every cash machine in the city was shut down from about 10 PM to sometime the next morning. The first time, it freaked me out. None would give me money and I needed it. I thought someone had hacked my bank account, but everything was fine the next day. The second time it happened, I realized that I needed to make sure I have all the money I need before like 8 PM.

Jaco was my best trip ever anywhere. A heaven on earth for regular guys. Completely unique, no place like it anywhere, its your playground in paradise. Life is what you make it, in Jaco that can actually happen. My amazingly great experience there inspired this extended post. You guys need to see the real picture, and the whole picture. What it comes down to is this: Everywhere else, regular guys are forced like lepers to some seedy district on the wrong side of town. Then get it done quickly, uncomfortably, all the while nervous about getting caught. In Jaco the girls are a natural, normal, comfortable part of the scene, woven into the fabric of the town. Right in the open, at all the bars and clubs, right there, waiting for you. Go out, just like to a regular bar, talk, laugh, hang with your buddies, and talk to any girl in the place. Trust me, they are competing hard for you. If and when the feeling strikes, score. Score at will. If you just want a night to take in the scene, it's a great scene.
First, Jaco is cheap and easy to manage, and the perfect size. Every great beach town has its main strip with open air restaurants, clubs, etc, where everyone wants to go. Jaco's is still in the goldilocks zone, it hasn't yet blown up to the point where its crazy jammed and overpriced. Has a great feel, you walk it, look over the clubs, street vendors, and open air restaurants. And. And. Its got the card that trumps all others, mega numbers of available girls, waiting for you. Just like Bangkok, but better, its more comfortable, easy, no aggravating people jams and rip off prices. And girls for $100-$150, that is for a whole night out. Even overnight, if you click. Do the math. Compare that to the USA. Average USA escorts for an hour of clock watching are $500-700. Walk in, nervous uncomfortable hellos, drop the envelope, off to the races. 45 minutes from entry (into the door, not her! You get signals to leave. Walk out, wonder why you just did that. If you want the full dinner date, 5 hours, its easily $1500-2000. And no backing out if her personality is a brick wall.

Live 4 69.When I was at the Cocal last August you could get your test in late morning and you had the results that afternoon. This was an antigen test. PCR probably takes a bit longer.
They came to the hotel. I don't remember the charge. It wasn't cheap though I didn't feel it was too expensive though given the convenience factor.
From what I understand you can also get a pretty quick test turnaround at the airport (SJO).
If testing positive and subsequently getting quarantined is going to screw up your life (work, family, etc.) you might want to reconsider going. Unlike in the Dominican Republic where you can just go to another lab and hope for a negative test, if you do test positive in CR they will notify the authorities and they will notify the authorities and keep a close eye on you and be sure you do quarantine. If you don't have insurance that specifically covers Covid quarantine and travel delay expense you are going to have to cover the quarantine lodging, your additional meals, any medical expense and any costs associated with changing your flights. Policies are pretty cheap and even though they are no longer required if you are vaccinated, you might want to consider getting one. Trawick International has some of the least expensive policies but you have to pay expenses up front and then file a claim for reimbursement. Be sure you get a policy that specifically covers Covid expense. Some don't.
Also you should check with you hotel and ask what accommodations they might be able to provide if you unfortunately do test positive. If they are fully booked, they might not be able to help you and you will have to find a place willing to take you.

Spent a night in Jaco during the summer. Didn't have the info in the last few posts. At 9 pm the Frog Pond at Cocal closed down and everyone got kicked out. I'd forgotten about it because I was sightseeing and people go to bed early. So I asked the girls how much (I did say $100 but almost no one except a slightly bigger girl would take that, but I wassn't in the mood to settle). Everyone wanted $200. Some really pretty ones, you can even find a 9 or 10. Eventually I paid $100 for a spinner with a pretty face but forgot to ask for longer stay. Was short on cash as well. Oh well, she was tight and I came way earlier than I normally do.
If you're not in bad shape you can easily get freebies traveling around CR, if you speak enough Spanish to travel solo. I took regional public buses almost everywhere.

I just confirmed the curfew at the Cocal bar and other nightlife is now at 10 pm. Also, the front door person told me that if numbers stay low they will be allowed to stay open until 11 pm starting in November. This is great news.

Colones is the CR currency. 30000 colones is give or take $50 I believe at this time.
Go to beach, eat at good places, do a tour of the waterfall or even take a water taxi to Santa telesa / Montezuma.

SB.I can confirm that curfews are being lifted in December but us old guys are fine with calling it a night after 11 pm or so. This is my 2nd time in Jaco and I can tell you that much has changed for the better as a lot of development has taken place. The Cocal Casino or more specifically Frog's lounge is definitely the place to go. Tons of talent on hand but the massage parlors offer a more economical way to go. They entice you in for very low prices and then prices escalate quickly from there. A $20 massage quickly goes to $150 depending on your desired level of intimacy. When I first started going to Costa Rica prices started at $100 and then you negotiated down from there depending on time of day and of course the girl. Now they are starting at $150. Not a smart business practice but I doubt any business school is going to do a case study on tourism in CR.
Caution on filling out the online healthcare form. I had a typo on my passport number causing me to have to re-do the entire form in the airport the morning of my departure. Had to clear out the browsing history on my laptop so that I could complete a new form. Damn AA woman caught the mistake but when I went back through the line they barely looked at it. Once you arrive, pack your patience as it was over an hour to get through immigration with at least 3 check points for your QR code. They don't actually scan it until you get to the immigration desk.
Another observation is that I am amazed at how much English proficiency has improved. My Spanish sucks but I'm finding a lot of bartenders and staff that can speak English. Tons of Ex-pats living here. Enjoy!

But, a business that chooses not to implement this can operate at the current 50% capacity, with masking, distancing, etc. Then, perhaps, if it gets approved, in another month everything optional is to be restricted to vaccinated only.

The town is very small, and there are plenty of Ubers available if you need to but most places are within walking distance. This is why choosing a good location near the Cocal hotel (just using it as a landmark) is important. Within this area you will have plenty of options for food, massage, shops, etc.

They quote you a price, then surprise, fees, room tax, whatever tax, and a charge for everything, and tips left and right. Then feel fat and stuffed from hotel food. So, I am in Jaco now after a long awaited return after being here April of this year as well. Unfortunately, the government is now mandating that all persons entering the Hotel or hotel bars, which includes the Cocal, show an official QR code from the Costa Rican authorities. This QR Code requires proof of double vaccination for the girls and anyone wanting to stay and there are no exceptions. You will do this before you leave your country. The Police went so far as to do quick spot checks one night on the girls in the bar to make sure they had their codes.

My first trip to Jaco was a disaster, as I stayed in a gated community condo, like $175/ night, tipped a guard to get a girl in, then we got a complaint, felt really bad, etc. I ended up moving to the Cocal, which was loud with iffy wi fi, and even more expensive, for small room with no kitchen. (I work on my computer all day, like a kitchen to make breakfast / coffee etc).

I've read the forum entries about the pool vibe and such at night and watched several YouTube vids but can't get a definitive and up to date read on the donations the ladies request and what that typically gets ya. We talking an hour of service like the massage parlors stateside? Or we talking a few hours? Or is everything per conversation and negotiation with the ladies?

The ones that have self respect and think of themselves as value won't go below the rate you quoted.
However, around the place especially with Nicas there are bargains to be had. Keep in mind many CR girls don't like Nicas and you may find them at Cocal, but they are often not wanted around by the other girls. They are also often in the country illegally looking for work and will accept much less.
I was surprised when I lived there learning about the culture and many CR folks view Nicas as a cursed people and don't want them anywhere in their country. I found them to be sweet and amazing but they were viewed very negatively. I'm not sure how management feels at cocal but the girls run their own hierarchy. So many Nicca girls hang around outside the place. One warning however, sometimes the girls travel to CR with their men and the men are in the shadows and I saw one become very very jealous one time.

Only San Jose has traffic problems but rest of the country is wide open. Beware there are no road signs, so you need to study the route before you travel. I have met and taken many girls touring. Lots of places to go and experience. I never had a problem.

I never pay through the nose for small rooms at the Cocal where the internet is spotty. Just google "bachelor pad Airbnb Jaco", "bachelor pad Airbnb San Jose", etc, it will punch through the usual filters and get you the places you want. I typically stay for week or so and find a regular Airbnb apartment with a kitchen so much better than a hotel room where there's no place even to set up your computer.

Can anyone please provide a report regarding the scene at the Cocal bar? Is the crowd at the bar busy? Are there still many girls outside the hotel on the street that are not vaccinated? If you're looking for afternoon fun, best to get the contact number of someone you met the night before. Another option is one of the couple "pensions" in San Jose (there are none in Jaco), where you can look at the line-up and negotiate what you want and the cost for what you want. At the Cocal, decent girls start showing up at 6 pm or so. There were no "lines" of girls waiting to get in at any of the four nights I was at the Cocal. I believe the lines were because they had previously had to show a vaccine QR Code to enter; but not anymore.

Cocal is the place to go! Around 11 PM is best time and you can get decent girls for $100 per hour. The standard is one shot unless you negotiate but even then there is no surety. Unlike European girls, the Central American girls are more likely to go back on their word. Also, they are not into providing a good service. There are a lot of bars on the main drag where you can find company. It's just they aren't quite as obvious or numerous as they are in the Cocal. The Orange club was pretty good (just across the bridge from the Cocal) and a bar just outside of the Cocal, I believe LE Loft wasn't bad. I don't know GSpot but many indicate that you will part with a significant amount of cash at Centerfolds before you even get to any action.

Condos right above vocal, can be pricey but ok if sharing with friends. You can do Blue Marlin too which is now connected to the Republik club, if the noise doesn't bother you. Within a few blocks of Cocal Is fine. I wouldn't stay further out.
Cocal is still the main market. Don't pay asking. More on that in my report coming up. Centerfolds is ok but really can't hold a candle to Cocal. However, you can absolutely get an oil change there or take out after wam when they get off if you make a connection.
Are there any short term hotels in the area? I can't bring girls back to Airbnb if you get my meaning.The girls will know where they are!

The girls will know where they are!All the working girls know where the rooms are. I suspect it is the cabinas right around the clubs around Green Door area. I had 2 ladies there, and much later knew a girl who told me she was staying in town at the cabins so I knew the girl was working too.

Here is the tip of the day, has never failed me. Anywhere you go, just g**gle "bachelor pad airbnb jaco Costa Rica", "bachelor pad airbnb san jose", this gets through all the usual filters and will bring up guest friendly private airbnbs. In any case avoid the large gated condo complexes, you're at the mercy of the guard at the gate or management and you never know who'll you'll get. I stayed at one of these my very first Jaco trip and got hassled. I'm at the gate with two gals, and give the guard a few bucks, so he let us through. The girls were up in my room, and management calls, just ruined the whole thing. Luckily I moved out and found a place, it saved the trip.

As I write this I'm sitting in an Airbnb I rented with some old friends in a vacation area outside NYC. Our third day here, its too boring for words. They are good guys, but theres no action. Nada. The one thing we all want, we are not allowed to have. So we sit around and drink, its getting old. Thank god I have great memories of my last jaco trip, its keeping me going.
If you want to try something new in CR, take the girl out to dinner. On my last trip I did it once in San Jose, and once in Jaco. Both times were amazing. Of course, she either has to speak english or you spanish, google translator is too clumsy for dinner conversation.
First in San Jose: Shorter gal, but nice and thin, she shows up at SL looking amazing. Dressed for a date, not for working. (On cab ride, we passed a couple of super hot gals on the corner, she says "you like them?" "Not bad". "Watch out, they'll give you a surprise". They were trannies, I never would have known. Neither will you, so unless you're looking for a walk on the wild side watch out. Apparently, a lot of the girls on the streets are trans). We went out to a top place, and a bottle of wine got us slowly hammered. We talked, I listened, and by the end of dinner I appreciated another dimension of the human personality. And so another dimension of my own. See, look out, you may just learn something – you'll travel out of your head as well as out of your country. Back to the room, and oh what a night.
Jaco: another dinner night out. The gals were similar, but also completely different, if that makes sense. This place was oceanside, so the wine, the dusk and the girl all came together. I'm calculated, regimented, she was free spirited. And by the end of the night I was in a different zone. Back to the place, more drinks, and oh what another night.
Of course I partook of the usual antics the other nights, but the date nights stood out, they are what I'll remember 20 years from now. Especially the oceanside place in Jaco. When you meet a girl with the right chemistry, try it you'll love it. A real date with a happy ending, and no strings attached.
Something about Jaco: its where the male dream comes true. It's a place like no other, the whole town is set up for you. There its OK to be a guy. And there I'm a guy, for once.
