Travel Report: Costa Rica 2001
Backround: Lots of street and escort action. The only sex I get beside my hand. This is my first post, hope it's not in the wrong section.

Preparation:
This is imperative for a trip of this nature, so one is safe from ripoffs. I should've sent this report in a year ago. I cant remember all the names. I reviewed the WSG and printed off reports, street maps and such. I packed plenty of condoms, astroglide etc. I made a reservation at the Del Rey. I made reservations with only TWO days notice, using a "bucket shop" travel agent, and was pleased to get a RT from SHV to SJO for $470. I used escape tours out of Houston Texas. I am extremely paranoid, the ticket arrived.

Report
The Del Rey is a POS compared to almost any American Hotel, but the sheets/towels are clean, and most imp., the security is great, the girls have their gov't clean pussy cards, and they speak English. I was not worried much except for my one visit to the other famous pick-up joint around the corner (the name escapes me) The only complaint I have is I felt kind of fucked that by the time you get your traveller's checks bought/cashed/converted, you lose 10-15%, but your safe. All can be had at the Blue Marlin, and SAFELY. I arrived early on Friday, cashed some traveller's checks, and picked up a homely girl for my first relief, I believe $60 for 2 hours. She just kept pinging on me, so I said WTF for $60. The condom slipped off inside her as she rode me cowgirl, so I stopped her, and she went NUTS cleaning out her pussy. Wonder if I've got a son??? There was real fear in her eyes, which made me reasurred that she must have a real clean pussy, be worried about me having aids (i dont), or be fertile. That same night, I picked up a hottie Columbiana ( I speak pretty good Spanish), and paid her $135 for the night. She soaped me up in the shower, french-kissed me, and then gave me a BBBJ with the sometimes hot water coming down on me. I fucked her missionary and exploded in her doggie while grabbing that spongy latina ass. I will post her pick once I scan it under Spongy ass latina.

The next night , I picked up some cute little golddigging *****, who after signing her into my room, wanted to go out with her friend and spend my money. After we ate dinner, its like 3am I realized I was gettin played, so I begged off that I had left something in my room, walked out and never came back. She paid for her own fucking dinner. Unfortunately, she left her fucking coat in my room, so she called up to me at the Del Rey, and I dropped it to her out the window ( ha ha). In my experience, if she's a gold digger, just cut your losses early, dont try to buy a personality change.

I was pissed and was drinking really late in the bar dejected, and I met Maria, a sexy 19 yo who felt sorry for me, and at closing time, I signed her in to just talk as friends. Well, she gave me a FREEBIE in the morning. So I asked her to come to the volcano trip and beach with me for a week, no price discussed. Then she went home, and I took a taxi to a massage parlor/bar, and fucked this skinny 5-5 90 pounds little sex machine twice over five hours for like $25 bucks. Since the place is open 24/7 why not just come down there and drink/fuck 24/7 for a week (ha ha). Cheaper than a hotel. I cant remember the name of the bar, but I was worried for my safety, so I bought everyone drinks and made friends as I drank mine SLOWLY. She sensed my concern and told me "tranquillo" which is "chill out dude" in spanish. I wasnt worried after that, they dont rush you there. Cool.

Here's where the trip get fucked up.
I met some ***** at the American bar around the corner , who did tours of the volcano. She was to take me to the volcano one day and the beach the next. Unfortunately, she had different plans for other people who rented the van. We were tag-a-longs. Stay away from that lying *****. She brought me alone with Maria on a private tour already paid for, and the guy who hired her was pissed, cuz he paid for a private tour. He started screaming the first time I met him. It only got worse. The first place she wanted to stop was a fucking flop house for $5/night and a shithole. I refused to stop there. We found a great place on the volcano lake for $30 bucks and were the only guests. Well that was a total fuckup, 25 hours fighting in a van at a pothole ridden 15mph, and stopping at every off the path shithole to wast more ti Maria gave me the only funky stinky sex I got on our trip and we took a shower.

I wanted my money back and to get he fuck to the beach, but got Abandoned ! and stranded in some shitty town, keeping my money. So dont book any tours from the American bar near the Del Rey. The lady was a friend of the owner. The food at American Bar was good, so dont blame them. I had to hire a taxi to come from San Jose to get me, and I got stiffed for my $200 bucks for the tour. Not much , but so what! Bottom line, dont ever travel by road in this country more than 10 miles.

So I bought plane tickets to Quepos (should've done that to begin with) and took Maria out. It was her first plane trip and we had a laugh about the trouble we'd been through with that *****. I bought her clothes and dinner and such, maybe $200 well spent. Maria didn't fuck me once at the beach, and her sympathy for me wore off. For some insane reason, she told all the guests at the hotel she was my fiance from Texas (ha ha),improbable as mismatched a couple as we were. cuz she's embarassed to be a *****! Damn, I'd be more embarrassed to be my fiance! Well, after three days of no sex, she starts spending time with the 18 yo teen boy downstairs from me on the beach, sitting and talking. That was enough for me. I changed her ticket, tell her we're leaving tommorow. Except when "Tommorow" comes, the taxi is sitting outside, and the look on her face was priceless when I told her "i'm not packing because you're going, I"m staying". She wasnt upset, and brushed me off like some lint, and took off, and I partied for two days with some girls at my hotel, then moved to a cool $20/day hotel in Quepos, and returned to SJO for my last day. She did sort of give me a freebie initially , but I'd rather have just paid some ***** to do me whenever I wanted. That's what I get for being a "Cheapie Charlie". You get what ya pay for! So I returnedto SJ and checked back into the Del Rey.

Running low on funds, I fucked another homely girl in the afternoon for $55. Then we walked around for a while downtown and she showed me the hotel renovation taiking place next to the DR. The "nused" hotel will be nice when it's done. I met the manager, he was cool too.
For the ten days I spent in Costa Rica, I spent $2000 including transportation, food, lodging, and *****s. I bet I could've had a real nice going away piece if I hadnt got fucked by the tour operator at American Bar. All in all a good first time experience. If all you want is to get fucked, just spend three days at the Del Rey with $1500 bucks and fly out on monday. Manuel Antonio was great though, we had monkeys on our porch and some fun times I'm too tired to write about.

It sounds like you made some wrong moves there. A lack of planning doesn't always mean the whole country is fucked up.

Yes, many rural roads are bad. Driving at night is usually not a good idea. Most roads to Manuel Antonio/Quepos are okay. You still see some huge potholes though. Much of the roads around Arenal and beaches suck. If you average 30mph you're doing good.

You can get the puddlejumper flights fairly cheap and they go quite a few different places. $60-$90 a way the last time I took them.

Did you really expect the girl to keep fucking you for nothing? Even if they're part timers, they expect something. And I don't know of any prostitutes who I met there who are PROUD of being one. Perhaps you were treating her like a *****.

Ditto Big Mal

I spent about 10 days in San Jose and Quepos back in Feb. It was great. If you treat the girls nice they will return it.

I have been to a lot of resort places and I found Costa Rica to be the ultimate adult playground. But planning is always a good idea.

Downtown San jose was very safe if you stay in the Del Rey area (15-20 square block area). Outside that I didn't feel comfortable. Probibly because I don't speak or look spanish so I kind of stick out.

The people are great in Quepos. I especially liked the Grand Escape downtown. Great place to hang out and drink and eat. The fishing was great but make damn sure you get a fast boat to reach the really big fish. Fishing for the ladies is so easy anyone can snag a very nice one the first time out.

recently spent 9 days in cr, 3 in quepos and 1 in jaco. fishing is great in quepos and i had my best experience ever in quepos. i will start with a great experience first and end with the best ever.

i was staying at the best western (kamuk), right downtown, in a room with a king size bed. in their restaurant/bar you can see the ocean and sunsets (bonita). i was putting away a few cervecas during happy hour (2 for 1) during 5-9pm and watching a cr futball game when i met a local guy (a teacher). to mame a long story short...he drove me around town on his motorcycle and showed me the hot spots. now, keep in mind this is wednesday night, most places were pretty dead (i.e. no chicas around).

after having a few beers at various palces he went home at 11pm and i hit a few bars dowtown and then the hotel casino. i saw 2 chicas going from bar to bar, as i was and then they ended up in the casino where i was around 1am. i talked with them and told them i would meet them at a disco just a short walk up the road (arco iris). i arrived there and they hugged me and i met their amigos who welcomed me. i danced with both chicas all night (sisters). at 4am i returned to my room with one chica and we had an awesome time. at 6am i received my wake-up call to go fishing and it ended so quickly (we never went to sleep).

she gave me her number and i ended up going back to quespos 2 days later, changed my flight out one day and spent a night at her place.

for my best experience ever:
my amigo took me to a place called layla's a short drive out of downtown. it is supposedly a strip club, but there was little stripping going on...it is more of a **** club. there was only 1 other customer there and 12 girls, many of them dominican republic, a few ticas and one russian (blond). a tica caught my eye, because she looked better then the super model giselle. she was a 10+ and spoke no english...i speak very little spanish which made communication difficult. i told her i would comeback the next evening for her and i did.

so, after fishing all day, no sleep the night before, i went to see her at 9pm... she arrived shortly after i did and we went off to a room (you pay the house a standard fee...it is not cheap). she was amazing. i found out that she was only 18, and she kind of acted like it at times, but that was ok, because she treated me like i was a king. she was awesome, tight and gorgeous. she did everyting right and felt oh so good. after an hour we returned to the club and i decided i wanted her for the evening. i payed the club manager the remainder of the $250 fee to take her with me and we headed off to a bar on the ocean for drinks and to talk. she was so livlely and all over me. kissing me sensually, sitting on my lap, ready and willing to do whatever i wanted...and i mean whatever, wherever i wanted (within reason guys...cmon i am a gentleman).

after an hour or so we returned to my room where she wanted me so bad she basically raped me. she was an animal, so sensual, so erotic and loved sex. i could not keep this girl off me. and in the morning, she was in no rush to leave, she wanted to hang out, but i had to catch a bus to jaco. this girl was better than any date or experience i had ever had. she took control in bed when appropriate and enjoyed me doing the same. this girl had so much energy and could easily be a super model. she enjoyed posing while i tool pics of her. i hated to leave her and would love to bring her home with me she was that awesome. she was very genuine and was very happy begin with me, but just trying to make a buck because of family problems...she is on her own. she was so good i even gave her a tip as we parted. i will return just to see her again she was so awesome.

in summary:

arco iris (disco) after 1am for a non-pro.

laylas's after 9pm for a variety of pros.

bar across from arco iris for semi-pro.

other places in downtown: just walk around in a 2 block area and see what you can find - doesn't seem to be a big pro city.

Next time try Guanacaste, is better developed, roads are better beaches are the same, but you get a 4 star hotel for 35 bucks.

Be sure to bring your own girl, pick one from the Blue Marlin and be straight, tell her the amount of sex you require and that you want a girlfriend experience.

Pay no more than $300 and tell her you wont pay if she treats you like a deadbeat once you get there.

And for transportation, Use the hotel shuttle, the one you will be staying at Guanacaste, that way you avoid the taxi SOB's out there. I got stiffed for nearly $100 in unnecessary taxis during my last trip, all because I thought the public bus system was shitty.

....Wrong, I used the bus on my way back to Atenas( my property there), and it was GREAT, I paid 50 cents for the $30 ride and was seated in an Excellent bus that looked more like a nice Airplane on the inside. It had AC, and nice thick curtains on the windows, which I closed to get some shuteye. Beyond that, a nice school teacher sat down beside me, she made the trip even better...hehehe.

So next time, save your money for the sex, forget the little things.

Read about my trip set-up for February, is on the San Jose post.

Hi, my first humble donation to this proud class of men.
I spent about 1 month in Costa Rica a while ago. Among my various sexual encounters there (and there were a few), One point I think is worthy of mentioning is the competition American women give Ticas (you read right) for male favors. I am going to tell you the first of 5 such experiences I had with American girls on this trip leading me to the above conclusion.

Let me just say that I am a non American who has reasonable control of English and who's looks are around 7-8 I believe. I can say I usually prefer sexy white women to Latinas. Travelling as a student, backpack style I usually stayed at the better kept level of guest house.

Arriving at Quepos I contemplated possible locations and decided to opt for town rather than the route to Manuel Antonio. It is not as pretty, but I thought I'd get more action there and as it turned out, I did.

On my second day, passing by the bus station I bumped into 2 student gals from the US. They were both 7-8 as well I'd say but were both very cute, attractive (each in her own way) and very very friendly.

One of them was a juicy little cutie with very nice curves. The other was taller, more slender, with very nice skin and a prettier face although not as obviously sexy as the curvy one. We hit it off immediately and made a triple date for that evening. I felt really good about my prospects because I could sense a certain hinted rivalry going on between them regarding yours truly.

When I showed up for the date, I was surprised to see that only one of them had shown up. (I was a little disappointed at first since the other one had a spectacular looking chest, but I was soon to learn I had drawn the long end of the stick after all). On the other hand I was pleased after we began talking and her telling me they decided only one of them should go, that it seemed more "appropriate" to them... (what the f*u*c*k...!!! as if she's openly saying to me: "we don't go for threesomes, so we drew lots to see who gets to do you").
We went to a bar and started downing the beers and me trying to teach her to play chess. We were laughing a lot and I relly liked this chick, I thought she was pretty cool.

It didn't take long before she touched my knee and so on and so forth and we stumbled back to my guest house room. In about 1.5 seconds she was all over me and doing the fastest recorded strip in Quepos history. Next we went into the shower and she gets down on her knees giving me an awe inspiring bbbj with the hot water coming down on us.

We had a fantastic night of revelry and she slept in until the late morning. After breakfast she left and I went to the beach. I have already taken up too much of your time gentelmen, let me just ask you, have you also noticed the significant easing of sexual inhibitions displayed by American (or other) women on vacation? I really cashed in on that in Costa Rica. I will post other raunchy anecdotes later.

Erol I have been to Costa Rica 19 times and speak Spanish fluently. I have been with every kind of tica from the hardcore street girls to the girls who worked in a library. There is no way one can compare a latin woman to an American woman. If that were the case all of these guys wouldn't be taking vacations. Latin women are some of the most passionate women in the world. The American women have forgotten this chapter of the book.

You not being an American surely had something to do with that. Perhaps a sense of adventure to the girl away from home but I still bet if you found a passionate Tica or Colombiana she would be a better time. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Erol,

I am glad you had such a nice experience that night in Quepos area with an American woman. I must agree with Beavis, however. I have been experiencing latin women since 1974, and lived in country for 5 of those years..the number of trips I have made to Costa Rica and other countries is too numerous to count...and like Beavis, have experienced them in all walks, from the bottom ladder of the economic class to the aristocratic...

Yes, you experienced a wonderful moment, and didn't have to give anything...got with no cost...but to what Beavis is referring is what I call "the essence of a woman" It is hard to describe, and covers all aspects of her..not just how fast she will go down or how horny she is...

The nice thing about latin women is that they retain their essence of a woman for a lifetime...and don't forget it once they have hooked up and started making babies..sort of made their catch...

It is realy hard to put this all to words...but I wouldn't say the differences have anything to do with costs...it is an attitude..it is a feeling..and understanding...it is about being a woman..

I won't deny that there are some American women who contain all this just as well..to what I refer is the average that one will most likely encounter..I will also say that it has something to do with our american culture that messes them up too...it might be the push-pull they are subjected too by the women's lib movement, that has them so mixed up they don't really know what they want...it might have something to do with materialistic society we live in...I know that when I encounter some Latinas here in the states that have spent too much time here, they can easily be converted to be like their American counterparts...

But overall, I want to agree with Beavis..may you have many more pleasant experiences..regardless of where you are and regardless of from where are the women...

Having just been to Quepos a few weeks ago, and seeing that no one has posted here for a while, I thought I'd weigh in on my experience there.

Me and mongering pal Larry took the long and winding road from SJ to Quepos, and let me tell you, it was sickening (one of the girls actually had to get out of the Interbus van to release herself from motion sickness). But arriving in Quepos was lovely, and Larry and I got rooms at the Hotel Malinche for $30 a night (a low season rate, perhaps).

The girl who runs the show at the Malinche is Melissa, and she's as sweet as pie and extremely helpful. The hotel is in town, which IMHO is more convenient than being 10k away at the beach (away from more of the "civilization; you can always take a cab to the beach). There's a good internet place next door to the hotel, and the hotel itself is clean and decent, without much amenity. We stayed six days and flew back for $45 (compared to the $25 Interbus this is a no-brainer-the flight is 15 minutes).

Ask Melissa for her recommendations, as they are always good. She'll send you on decent tours and restaurant trips to try the outstanding and cheap seafood there. But don't ask about mongering, because it's clear that she shouldn't be sullied by such things.

Larry and I went to the Hotel Itzamana just on the outskirts of town. When we first went in we were the only two mongers there, faced with a baker's dozen of hot chicas. They had all sorts of ways to take your money (buy the girl a drink, lapdances, etc.) and you could take a girl to a room for $150 for an hour (though that seemed negotiable). Larry thought best to do a todo a noche with a fine Dominican girl for $200 (also negotiated) which was a lot more "bang" for his buck. I wasn't ready to committ the funds, so I let him have all the fun, which he did. She even called her friend to meet us and he took them both into his room. Thank God this guy doesn't have more money, or no woman would be safe.

So Quepos is a fine town to visit, and you can get some relaxed mongering in, as well. There's another place (already mentioned here) called "Laylah's" or something like that. In other words, there are multiple options.

If you're a decent looking guy, or just very good at working with drunk girls, you might be able to score at the beach on the weekend. It's filled with tons of American girls looking to do the same things we do, but for free. Ah, society, women don't even get the option to go to AMPs, MP's and the Blue Marlin, so they have to settle on meatheads with surfboards!

More on me and Larry and our exploits and philosophical musings in the SJ board to follow. But head on over to Quepos; it's a relaxed place different from the constant party scene of Jaco where you can get your groove on in your own time. A great contrast from the BM meat market.

Happy Mongering Mi Amigos!

Nice report Jim. I have stayed at the Malinche four times, always in high season. I always paid around $30 per night except when I brought a tica from S.J. and it was $40. Very clean and quiet and Melissa and associates were always very helpful.

I agree that to fly is the way to go! The private bus was okay but takes too much time when you are anxious to get there.

Next time you go and want to go to the beach take the bus; if I remember correctly the buses run to Manuel Antonio every half hour and costs 10 colones.

Down the coast is the beach town of Dominical and is well worth the effort to get there but take your own chicas as the pickins are real slim but what a great place!!

Prices have sure gone up at the Itzimana! $75 for a couple of hours used to be the norm. Must be inflation! Still can't say much for their floor show etc.

I have mongered in Costa Rica numerous times and I have also enjoyed myself fishing in the Qoepus area. ( sp )? I want to take my two sons on a clean vacation to Quepus and wondered if anyone knows of someone who has a bicycle tour of one day. I would prefer the Ouepus area . I realize that this is out of the mongering mode, but hope someone can help me.

Thanks,

Just got back from CR and will be posting my experiences and photos soon in the San Jose section and the Photos section...

But for now, my Quepos review:

In short, Quepos SUCKS for pros. Laila's is closed now, or so we were told anyway, so I don't know how it is.

We went to Itzimana's (?sp?) and it is a total Clip Joint, horrible experience unless you just don't mind throwing money around like at an American strip joint.

First of all, once we got in and sat down and a couple of girls were sent over to pump us for drinks, we were told by the waiter that we'd be paying something like 4000 colones each for the entrance fee and then the beers were like 2000 colones each. But that wasn't until after we'd sat down and ordered a beer, so they already had their hands in our pockets for about $13 U.S.. Since we'd just come from San Jose where you could get a helluva cute girl and full on sex for half an hour for $15, we weren't into this kind of gouging.

Of the girls there , that night, there was only one that was above an 8 and the others were mostly 6's and 7's. We were told we could have one for an hour for $125. Yeah, right. Shove it where the sun don't shine.

So we walked out of there as soon as we finished our beer and I'll never go back. I mean, maybe if the girls were all Playboy Playmates or something, but they weren't.

So then we went downtown and saw a couple girls working on the street. One was pretty cute but something about "street" girls bothers me, especially when they're working with a pimp as these were. Then there was a stocky black guy at the bar entrance who had "4 ho's" out working and told us we could wait, or we could go check out Bar La Rosa if we wanted some cheap Dominican girls. We decided to check that out.

Went to Bar La Rosa and right away 2 black chicks came and sat at our table. Personally I almost never like it when chicks come sit at my table uninvited. In this case, the one talking to me was kind of cute but the one with my buddy was a dog and the problem became "how do we get rid of these girls without hurting their feelings or getting them mad and having some big guy come over and smack us around for angering his ho's?" I told the one with me that my friend was more interested in another one and finally they both left us alone. Then I called over one I liked across the room, but she was only about a 7 close up. In any case, I thought, "Maybe I'll go for a quickie anyway if it's cheap enough. (how much could a dive like this charge?!)"

I was shocked when she said it was $35 for a half an hour. I told her I'd maybe come back tomorrow, and we left. She might have been okay for $15-25 but not for $35. I could get a massage, sauna, shower and sex at New Fantasy in San Jose' for $35!

So that was that. Quepos really was disappointing from a mongering standpoint.

I know that eventually I'll upset someone by asking too many questions, but here goes. I'll be in Quepos/M. Antonio for a couple days in mid-September. Does any Forum member have any up-to-date info on the scene here? It sounds absolutely dismal, but I'm hoping that a local or Quepos expert can provide some current information. Is the Gran Escape still a good place to find semi-pros? Where is Layla's, and is it indeed closed?

Thanks,

Blind Lust,

If you don't take your "entertainment" with you from SJ it will be mighty slim pickings.

One of the bartenders at Mar y Blues Bar downtown Quepos is named Charlie. He is a tico who has lived in the states and is a really good guy. He most likely can point you to whatever action is available.

Get Some,

Nipster, muchas gracias.

I'll try to find Charlie at the Mar Y Blues in Quepos when I'm there. Finally, a lead on some action. For anyone who knows Quepos, is Layla's actually closed? My deal is this: I would no more pay US$150.00 at Itsamana than I would monger here in the U.S. Any way you look at it, no p*ssy is worth that much, not even if it was made of platinum. I'm looking for a short-time $30-40 deal here, and won't permit myself to be gouged, as Johnny Sax was (see report below).

I stayed in Quepos for 3 weeks in 2001 and had a number of fun evenings at a place on the water side of the highway just a little north of town. Nice open bar and friendly girls, with thier own rooms on site. I forgot the name. I wonder if it still exists?

blind man's boff - part 3 - quepos

layla's is still open, according to locals with whom i spoke while in quepos 15-17 september, however it is very expensive. there was actually some semi-pro action on the street during a big street dance friday night; a very good local band played near "dos locos," a favorite bar for gringos. most wanted a ridiculous $100.00/short time (have these chicas been talking with blue marlin girls)? careful here! my female companion pointed out at least a half dozen girls who were obviously ****.

otherwise, mongering in quepos/manuel antonio is still very hit or miss. a young, good-looking gringo with a pile of money (not me) could do very well here courting non-pros, but p4p is not going to be easy.

it appears that either by accident or by design, most mongering in c.r. is limited to a few square blocks in san jose. see my reports in the "san jose - 2004 reports" section. -bl

I was in Quepos in early August and actually checked out Layla's. Forget it, there's no action going on here. Although I found it during the day, it looked empty. The place looks like a mini motel/resort with some gaudy statues in an Italian garden. I saw that the room nearest the pool was occupied with kids swimming about.

Itzamana faired no better. It looked like an abandoned warehouse. Again, this visit was during the day.

I was at the internetquepos and I overheard this lady about a business council meeting. My guess is that there were 2 factors that led to the demise of Layla's and Itzamana. 1. That Man Antonio is a couples/family tourist area. Hobbyists look out of place here. 2. I got the impression Quepos is becoming a trendy tourist place where the local businesses would not tolerate mongering.

Of course this is all pure speculation and an opposing view is more than welcome.

Well it looks like my first trip to CR is taking shape and myself and a friend are heading in in late march. We will be staying in CR for 5 days, and want to take in a day of fishing off Quepos, and I had a few questions if some of the guys who read the board and have been can answer.

First off can someone recommend an inexpensive hotel that is decent? I saw that the Malinche seems to be popular, but I'd really like a hot shower :) yeah I know I must be spoiled. Other than the room being comfortable to sleep in and the forementioned shower I'm not too picky.

Second, can someone recommend a private fishing charter that is reasonable and trustworthy? I'm sure that there are many but if someone has firsthand knowledge of this it would be helpfull and most likely save some time.

I'm really looking forward to the trip and any information that anyone can share would be appreciated. Hopefully I will have some good reports to file in the SJ section when we return, as no trip to CR would be complete without a few days of powermongering for some pink snapper as Don Gordo calls it!

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I have been to Quepos/Manuel Antonio a few times and although I go there for the sun and beach I would like there to be some mongering spots. I have been to Itzama but there were only a few woman there and they were asking too much for what they had to offer. I would be nice if a few places opened in the quepos area. I will be there in the beginning of FEB and will scope out some new places, if they exist.

There are 20 plus charter outfits in Quepos and I have used several but the one that has consistently put me into great fishing is Hi-Tec. In January on one day I hooked up 14 sails with 9 released. The largest approximately 175#. You can go out for around $400/day total price for the boat (divide that up by how many of you there are). Don't have their info handy but they are on the web, the owners name is John and when (if) you book with him ask for Gerry to be your Captain; he is the best around IMHO. Hopes this helps.

Considering that Jaco is THE place by the ocean for mongering, I wonder why there isn't a separate section for it. I prefer San Jose, personally, but Jaco has a LOT of chicas at the Beatle Bar and later on they go to the Central Disco and Pancho Villas. Quepos is quite mild by comparison.

Quepos is a real up and comer in the P4P scene. There are two strip bars; one in the town of Quepos the other in the hills of Manuel Antonio. Plus there is alot of street action which is not all that good but it brings the prices down. I like it because you can take a break from mongering and relax on the beach or do some nature tours while always having the ability to monger. It is the best of both worlds.

I find that although the San Jose Scene is cool it just doesn't feel like a vacation. I would try Quepos/Manuel Antonio for a good balance. You may even come home with a tan.

A great person to hook-up with is actually in the Tampa area does does charter down there to Jaco each and Quepos. He is well versed in what to fish for down there and when. I will post his website here, but if Jackson erases, PM me for it. Not sure the rule on posting a fishing website on here.

When in Quepos, I highly recommend the Tres Banderos hotel up the hill just outside of town. The happy German owner runs a great place and will take care of you for about $45/night US.

For the ladies, there are some old pros and worn out pros in town. Best bet is to either check out the dance clubs OR if there is a beach party, go circulate down there and look horny. The working girls will find you.

hola,

i just returned from a 2 week trip to panama and costa rica.

went again to quepos to see if i could find a suitable house or apartment to rent for my upcoming planned retirement to central america. i have been to quepos a few times. here is what i found on this trip.

took the tico bus from jaco to quepos. arrived in quepos about 1 pm in the afternoon. walked from the bus terminal a couple of blocks to the best western kamuk hotel. after inquring at the front desk, i was told their prices, and they were about $70. 00 for a single room. also they do not allow chica vistors in the rooms.

so i went down the block and around the corner to the malinche hotel, which is a tico hotel but it was quite inexpensive, and pretty accomadating.

single room with a/c was $ 40. 00. it was fairly cool, so i opted for the non airconditioned single room for $20. 00. i got a surprise when i took my first shower, as the water was only cold. not too bad though, and if it's real warm out, then a cold shower is kind of refreshing for a change. lol....

the room had a nice ceiling fan that kept it fairly cool, so i was satisfied with this selection.

the tica girl working the front desk was very friendly, but married. her name was mellisa, and her father or grandfather (not sure) owns this hotel.

she offerred to call one of her chica friends for me for a date later. she did, and told me that this girl would meet me at the hotel at 9pm.

9pm arrived and as i walked in the hotel (i had been to dinner at the restaurant directly across from the bus terminal. which is quite good and inexpensive) my 'date' was sitting in the lobby, and smiled broadly as i came in.

her name was estella, about 25 years old, fairly dark skinned, nice figure, no silicone, and she was from the dominican republic. we did not even talk about the price, but i invited her to go over to the second floor of the kamuk hotel for a drink, where there was a 3 piece band playing.

we had a drink, enjoyed the band, and after about 20 minutes went back to my hotel.

she stayed for about an hour, and i gave her $40. 00 for bbbj, and sex with a condom. it was nothing extraordinary, although i did enjoy her company and had a good time with her.

i later found out that the working girls congregate in wacky wanda's bar, which is around the corner (i think about a block and a half) from the malinche hotel, and across the street from the kamuk hotel. there is another bar next door, that also has working girls. i saw about 6-7 in all, and some were from the dominican, and some where local chicas. mellisa at the hotel malinche can arrange a "date" for you with one of her friends, but you are better off just checking out the bars in quepos yourself, so you can 'pick out your own'. there are also some working girls who hang out around the bus terminal - later in the evening.
and as pointed out by another member above....the quality of the girls in quepos is nothing compared to most of the girls working the beatle bar in jaco or the del rey in san jose....but when you are in quepos....you are 'out in the hinderlands' so as to speak....and the real 9's & 10's don't need to waste their time going to such a small and semi-isolated place as quepos.

if it wasn't for the park and beach in manual antonio, then poor quepos would probably be just another very small, simple little village as seen almost anywhere in costa rica.

there are a couple of night clubs in quepos. the most popular being the itzama night club. but after visiting it briefly, i decided that i belonged elsewhere.......

i went there early one night about 9 pm. its pretty nice in a converted hotel about 2 miles outside the center of town. but after talking to the bartender for a while, i decided that it was way more expensive than i wanted to spend: drinks were about $2-3. 00 for gringos; and more for the girls; the girls did strip on stage, with table dances being about $ 20. 00 each; private dances in a private room for $ 40-50. 00; and an hour in the back room with the girl of your choice for $ 135. 00. needless to say, i got out of there pretty quick, as that is more than my budget can stand.

also while i was riding through town on the motorscooter, i noticed several young ladies walking down the road. i watched one of them walk. in that particular way a ***** will walk when she is "working" and looking for a date.

so i drove past her, down the road a block or two, turned around, came back, made eye contact with her, and around again, and asked her if she wanted a ride. she did, we did, and she was a semi-pro, very young, and supposedly 20 years old. although i did not check her id-cedula.

but this just demonstrates how fairly easily it is to meet, and pickup local girls in almost any locale.

i have a phd in this sort of thing from the university of daytona beach. having lived there for a couple of years in the late 1990's, and having observed the very casual way a 'working girl' will just amble along, in no apparent hurry, and with no particular destination or anything. when she is walking.

another observation from my many years of mongering. *****s seldom carry purses or handbags. so be mindful of that.

and all it takes usually takes me, is one quick look into their eyes, to ascertain if they are 'working or not'.

next day-

i rented a 125cc yamaha motorscooter from fast eddies moto rental in quepos and rode it up the mountain (plenty of speed and power, and really nice bikes for $ 30. 00 for 3 hours). to the beach at manual antonio.

that beach is really beautiful, about the nicest beach that i have personally seen in either costa rica or panama.

this beach was very picuresque with a couple of small islands right out in front of the beach, and everything very, nice and clean.

the beach was crowed on saturday, with lots of tourists, some locals, and many, many vendors selling everything from food, ice cream, sodas. beer, and local made goods, and what-have-you tourist items. from the street, right in front of the beach.

it is about a 15 - 20 minute trip. approx. 5-6 miles from quepos to the beach in manual antonio.

the road ends there in the park (at the beach) and you must turn around and then come back into quepos. even if you have to take a taxi over to the beach, then it's worth it. (but the small mini buses run every 30 minutes for only 25 cents (i believe). lots of eating places, and upscale hotels line the road to the beach.

next night i stopped in for a drink at the los locos bar. they also had a band playing, and i sat down and enjoyed them for only the price of a soda.

the owner, vera, an older gal from the san francisco area greeted me, and we spoke. she is a nice older gal, and she has a nice restaurant with music on most nights. had i had the time, and inclination, then perhaps i could have gotten better acquainted with vera, and also perhaps even gotten "a free one" from her coming my way. later.

there were 2-3 older american gals drinking and dancing in this bar. and i expect they were there looking for a little action. but perhaps from younger guys than myself. so i did not pursue any of this.

the place was very 'lively' that night as it was filled up with about 40 tourists from holland. who were eating and drinking, and obviously having a good time.

checked out the charter fishing in quepos as well. most places are asking about $ 400-450. 00 for 3 fishermen in thier boats.

there is a charter fishing outfit right next to the malache hotel (and it's malache fishing charters) run by luis (the husband of melisa at the hotel) and stan an expat from florida. fishing had been so-so the last month or so, but reportedly was going to pick up in sept. when the fish moved in closer to shore. they said they were having to go out at least 15 miles up to 23 miles to get into the "real bid fish". and this was the first of august.

there is a local magizine (free) entitled, " quepolandia" that is available in most of the hotels. it is published every month, and is full of ads for the local hotels, restaurants, and also has a very good section with local real estate for sale, and also for rent.

i found two apartments in quepos. one was a 1 bedroom furnished for $ 200. 00 with bed, kitchen, all in one room and then a small bathroom. it was connected to a private home, about 3-4 blocks from the river which runs into the ocean - right in front of the town of quepos.

also found a very nice 1 bedroom apartment with everything furnished: linen, towels, dishes, pots and pans, new a/see, new color tv, and it was all very nice in a newer fourplex building with the owners living in one of the other apartments - price $ 350. 00 per month with a 6 month lease. $400.00 per month - month to month. both of these were good possibilites for me. but i did not rent either at this time.

met another expat gringo at the los locos. got acquainted with him somewhat over a couple of drinks. he said he lived about 20 miles from town - up in the mountains- and was renting up there very cheaply. did not say how much- but i got the impression that it was way less than $300. 00 per month. as he spoke about his accomidations.

they are building a brand new upscale marina in quepos. but since i first went to quepos. over two years ago. they have done nothing with it. except talk about it, and advertise it.

i went to the marina office, and spoke to the 'jeffe' (the local tico - in charge) since i am interesting in getting about a 25 foot sailboat or fishing boat - when i finally land somewhere in cen. america.

i asked how much the slips at the marina were going to rent for per month. typically they will rent for $ 5-10. or $20. 00 per ft of boat per month.

he replied that they were not planning on renting the slips, that they were instead going to sell them. at a cost of over $ 100,000. 00 each. he quoted $135,000.00 each.

and as i left with a smile on my face, i wished him good luck by saying, "buena fortuna". they will need it, if they think they are going to get that much for a slip to park a boat.

the marina now looks like some kind of a scam to me. they haven't moved so much as an inch of dirt in over two years, but do have a nice little office, with proposed photos, and models of the "new quepos marina". soon to be constructed.

i stayed two days, and got on the bus the next day for san jose.

by the way i on my last trip to this area, i took the tico bus from paso canoas (panama) to san isidro, then to dominical, then to quepos. and the 40-50 miles from dominical to quepos is a dirt road. that leg of the trip was made on the bus at about 5 miles per hour with pickups and dropoffs about every couple of mile. and it took about 2- 2 1/2 hours to cover that 40 or so miles of the trip. i would not recommend going that way again.

so much for quepos. the best thing about this part of the country is the beach at manual antonio. and i am betting that the walking tour through the national park is also pretty good, although i am too old and lazy to do much walking. so i opted to pass on the walking part thru the park.

FYI, the hotel that the prior post is referring to is the Hotel Malinche, not the Malachie. And while there are certanly a handful of working girls that congregate in Quepos near the Malinche and the Best Western Kamuk, the quality as well as the quantity is a far cry below that which is standard in Jaco in the Beatle Bar. On the other hand, the beaches in Manuel Antonio are alot nicer than the ones near Jaco.

I had a great experience fishing out of Quepos with these folks:

http://www.queposfishing.com/

The three guys on my boat (myself included) each brought in a Pacific Sailfish in the 100-130 pound range, and one or two dorado (20-30 pound range)

The sails are catch and release, & we had a feast with a couple of the Dorado, and gave the other Dorado to the crew as part of their tip. Best place to get your catch prepared is a wonderful seafood restaurant called Mar Luna, right on the main access road to Manuel Antonio. We dropped the filleted dorado (the mate on the boat filleted the fish in front of us) off at the restaurant when we came back from the boat, at around 5:30, and told them we'd be back at 8 for dinner.

They charged us something ridiculously cheap like $6 a person to prepare the Dorado, plus of course, beverages and a nice tip. Each person had a broiled fillet, a blackened fillet, Grilled fresh veggies and a dish of Dorado sashimi.

In Answer To - Best Bars To Hookup in Quepos, Costa Rica + Other Info.

(See one of my other previous trip reports on the Quepos Area - search on this forum for posts by stevewxly).

Wacky Wanda's Bar and the one right next door to it (can't recall the name of it) are your best bet for finding P4P chicas in Quepos. Also you can somethime find semi-pro SW types around the bus termanal in downtown Quepos. Quepos is a pretty small town, so you won't have any problem finding these places.

There are other bars, and other places of course, including a couple of real pricey night clubs in Quepos. The gals working out of these two bars above are mostly from the Dominican Republic, or Colombia, and you may also run into some local Costa Rican girls too there. They hang out in these two bars and they are both very small places, intimate places with seating for only 10-12 - maybe 15 people at most. You won't have any problem finding them. They are just about a half block from the Best Western-Kamuk Hotel. Just ask anyone in town.

Also for a pretty good meal and some good live music in the evenings (before hitting Wacky Wanda's) try Dos Locos Restrurant. It's just up the street toward the bus station and is owned and managed by a nice old Gringa gal named Vera, from the San Francisco Bay area in CA.

Then after your eats, drinks, and music, walk down the block just a little to Wacky Wanda's about 8: 30 - 9 PM. You will be just there at the right time from about 9 PM until 11 PM. Then you can walk over to the nearby casino, as there may also be a few gals working out of there too.

For a hotel, there is the Kamuk Best Western closeby, but they are not chica friendly, and they don't allow female P4P types up to your room). They are also kind of pricey, with rooms going around $ 50-60. 00 and up per night.

I have never stayed there prefering some of the other nearby Tico hotels instead. You can stay just around the corner at Malinche Hotel (sp) (which is chica friendly) for only $ 20. 00. See Mellisa, at the front desk, and if you ask her, she will also set you up with one of her P4P girlfriends who will meet you at the hotel for a little action at whatever time you specify.

The price for the P4P gals in Quepos should run you around $ 40. 00 an hour, maybe less for some of the non-imported locals.

I will be in back in Quepos on Sept. 20th, for about 30 days - and will be there through about the 20th of Oct. As I have scored a 30 day housesitting job for a Canadian couple, who will be going back to Canada on business. They reportedly have a nice, large home (I have not seen it yet) just 5-6 miles from town, near Manual Antonio beach. I am looking forward to that. With the 30 days Free Rent in a deluxe type home, which will be just a stone's throw from the most beautiful beach (Manual Antonio) in all of Costa Rica (in my opinion).

On one of my previous trips to Quepos I met and hung out one evening with a Gringo monger type who was living up in the mountains about 30 minutes from Quepos. He invited me up to a famous local restaurant. Can't remember the name now, where they have great all day drink fests, and be-be-Q's on Sunday. I have not attended one of these yet, but plan on checking them out when I get back to Quepos. Sounds like a lot of fun.

It's Sunday be-be-Q's are sort of bring-your-own gal from town type of thing - if you want female company up there. You will need to get a taxi in town (Quepos) 30 minute trip up to this restaurant. Should run you about around $ 10. 00 - one way. If you are in Quepos over the weekend. Message me here, and we can go up there together on a Sunday - while I am there.

I know a few gals from Jaco Beach who would love to jump on the bus, and ride down to Quepos, to take in this be-be-Q. And I should be able to hook you up with a gal for that.

If anyone wants to hook up with me, hang out, and chase chicas in Quepos or Jaco Beach from Sept. 20th to about Oct 20th (where I plan on also going for a couple of day/night trips) then give me a holler. I know both areas fairly well, and if you are a newbie or not in these areas, then I think I can steer you in the right direction in either locale.

I will be in Quepos and Manuel Antonio for a period of 30 days starting on Sept. 20th until around Oct. 20th and of course will be 'mongering' as much as possible around Quepos and also in Jaco Beach.

If anyone wants to come down from San Jose then please contact me here through the forum, and (if it's permissible (sp) ) - I will post a local phone number where I can be reached in Quepos.

I have a small job housesitting a home in Manuel Antonio for a month, and after the first few days on my own, I am sure that I would be happy to meet any mongers from the states or anywhere for that matter, who would like to find a little action with the local chicas in this area. I am not a local expert here, by any means, but will do my best to guide you around a little.

Inquire here - and then give me an idea of your tenitive schedule about coming to Quepos and then we can get in touch with each other.

Decent spot in the off season as you will get alot of attention. Can be pricey but if you don't mind you can get what you want. Lap dances are 20bucks behind a curtain. If you want to go all the way they have these rooms off to the side. that is 200. there are ab out 10 chicas in there most of them 5-6 range but a few 9'ers.

Mostly 5-6 quality range? You call that decent? I can do better than that here in the US. So why even bother while you're down there? Because its there? Save your money for SJ or Jaco or else bring your own entertainment with you when you go to MA.

As we all know it costs alot of money to nail strippers whether its worth it or not. Plus in a resort area it is always going to be pricey. In SJ there are thousands of girls providing which drives the price down. In Quepos there are not many. People go to Quepos not solely for mongering that is why they can stomach the 200 as it is an extra. Bringing your own entertainment is a risky proposition which can easily ruin your whole trip.

Bringing your own entertainment is a risky proposition which can easily ruin your whole trip.I'm sorry. I can appreciate your post as a warning on some place to avoid when going to Quepos but I just don't buy your rationalizations/excuses trying to justify it as a realistic and viable option.

a) "it costs a lot of money to nail strippers", yeah if they're good looking. Mediocre strippers like you described can be had for a helluva lot less in SJ. Even better ones than you described can be had for less. So if paying the stripper premium is worth it at all it is much more worthwhile in SJ.

b) "in a resort area it is always going to be pricey" if true is just another reason not to even bother with it in a resort area.

c) "in quepos there are not many". not sure what you mean by that. In SJ, its not 1000's of "girls providing which drives the price down". The SJ rates adjusted relative to the local average wage is not that different from prices in the US. If anything it is driven up by 1000's of gringo guys. You said there were 10 girls there. How many gringos? What was the ratio? I'm guessing no worse than in SJ and probably better. It wouldn't even surprise me if you were the only gringo (ie the only person that could afford that $200 rate) in that place while you were there. Sure, Quepos has wealthy tourists but how many of them bother with the seedy local adult nightlife? What it comes down to is that Quepos is not a location that either chicas or gringos generally go to for mongering, resort or not.

d) Not only do people not "go to Quepos solely for mongering", nearly all don't go to Quepos at ALL for mongering. They go to Quepos completely for other reasons and if some monger at all it is an completely an extra that most choose not to stomach.

e) Bringing your own entertainment can carry some element of risk. Careful pre-trip screening and selection can greatly reduce though not completely elimanate that risk. However, whether it can "ruin your whole trip" is another question. If I were in a position where my choice of travel companion wasn't working out, I'd just send her packing before it got to the point of ruining my whole trip. At worst you're no worse off than if you hadn't brought your own entertainment and you can still resort to the Sirenas thing if you're that desperate. However, if you DON'T bring your own entertainment there is no risk but a certainty that you will be limited to the dubious options you described.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but my own humble opinion on this matter is if you want to go to the beach and can't go without sex for the day or two you are there then you should either:
a) find a compatible chica and bring her
b) go to Jaco where the beaches may not be as nice but the local mongering options are a helluva lot better or
c) load up on getting your rocks off back in SJ and when you go to Quepos just concentrate solely on all the other GOOD reasons people go there.

All valid points. I think we think about it different ways. You are all business I am more of a laid back hobbiest. Plus I live in a city so after visiting SJ once I don't need to see it again. I would rather head right down to Quepos/MA and enjoy the sun, fun and nightlife. Also, the last thing I can see myself doing is evaluating whether or not a provider and I are compatible enough to take with me. Much rather fly solo and overpay when I get there. It is more of a spontaneous thing for me as some nights i get the urge and I go for it.

I do you see your point but they just aren't relevant to me.

d) Not only do people not "go to Quepos solely for mongering", nearly all don't go to Quepos at ALL for mongering.

I agree that you and I think differently about things and there is nothing wrong with that. However, I don't think you really understand how I think.

I'm definitely not all business, though I think you'll find many strippers are. However much many of us like to think it is a GFE, it is still at its core a business transaction for which we as customers try to get the best value. I'm sure even for you there is a price that you won't go beyond. You make it sound like I conduct interviews for travel companions, but I'd hardly characterize it that way myself. I go with different providers in SJ just in the regular course of my hobby. Some I really like, some don't pan out and I never see again some are great for an hour or two but I readily see that beyond the bedroom activities just hanging out with her would get taxing and some I just know from talking to them as people that an extended trip probably isn't in the cards (often because of their family responsibilities). Thats all fine because I'll either enjoy my time with them while in SJ or not. If they fall into the first category I might invite them on a extended trip either on that trip or filed away as a possibility on my next trip. I won't invite an untried provider (one I've never even had an hour session with) or one who I don't get the right vibe from. Its nothing as calculating as you depict and its not foolproof but it radically reduces that risk you spoke of.

You live in a city and so after visiting SJ once don't need to see it again. Using that logic, why keep returning to CR at all? I don't go to Quepos as often as I go to SJ but I've also been there more than once. I live in a city too and I'm sure SJ is not exactly like either of our hometowns. But its fair to say that SJ is not the highlight of most peoples trips to CR. That's why I usually use SJ as a base for visiting other parts of CR so that I can enjoy the better nightlife that it has and certainly the much better mongering while still being able to visit the country by day. I don't know exactly where you live but another point that makes each of our viewpoints right for each of us may be where each of us live. I live in Florida which has plenty of fun and sun and can go to the beach any day I want to. I definitely prefer the mountains and the cloudforests in CR which I definitely don't have back home.

You'd much rather fly solo and overpay when you get there. I have no problem flying solo and often do but I see no need to overpay when I get there. I can easily live without mongering every single night if the economics aren't right. After all I do that all the time back here in the states, as I'm sure you do too, and I see no need to monger just because I'm in CR if the advantages of mongering in CR aren't present where I happen to be. I go to CR for more than just mongering. When I'm in someplace like SJ or even Jaco, I'll take full advantage of the mongering opportunities. If I'm heading someplace else that doesn't have the same wealth of opportunities I'll take some along if the conditions are conducive to that or I'll go alone and forego of mongering for a little while with no problem.

Fellas, I've just booked my first trip to CR in January and arranged a hotel in Quepos through Tico Travel, Fort Lauderdale; my first time booking with them.
They put me in a hotel named Las Sirenas!! Tico Travel is for surfers and sports fishermen, so I sure hope that the strip club mentioned here and my hotel aren't one and the same LOL

I believe the place you're referring to is La Sirena not Las Sirenas. Big difference. Its a small little (14 room) boutique hotel located in the center of Quepos. Las Sirenas is located way out on the outskirts of Quepos.

Just got back from Quepos.

La Sirena is a decent place to stay. There is a small pool; few guests, at least when I was there; its quiet, clean and well run. Like Prolijo said, about 13 rooms. Functioning A/C and tv. Pretty basic.

If I had it over, I would stay up in the hills on the road from Quepos to Manuel Antonio, rather than in the town itself, which, while safe, isn't as attractive as the MA area. The quality of the hotels and restaurants up there seems much nicer. The beach at Manuel Antonio is really nice with surfable waves, clear water and an uncrowded beach........free of touts!

I was told by one of the surfers at MA that a bar in Quepos called 'Los Pescadores' was the place to meet the working girls so I went there on two different nights. One night, there was a single wg there and the second night there were two girls; one of whom had accosted me on the street a half hour earlier. Neither were particularly attractive and I didn't partake so I didn't find out prices. Quepos doesn't seem like a monger's kind of place.

The surfer also mentioned 'Las Sirenas' which Prolijo correctly stated is a strip club on the road from Quepos to Manuel Antonio (distance:7km), but he said that he lived nearby, knew the place, and that the girls in Las Sirenas asked for $300us for an encounter. I never tried this place. Honestly, with the heat and surfing and white water rafting, I didn't have the energy for any other activities.

The heat was incredible. I'll guess it was over 90 every day with humidity to match. Quite uncomfortable. Being so close to the Equator, the locals refer to 'Dry and Wet season' rather than summer, winter etc. Depending on who you talk to, some say that the weather is ok from April to December: others say it is hot all year round. Then another told me that in Guanacaste, up north, it was drier. So I'm not sure. But it was damn hot. San Jose, was cool and comfortable, with an even nicer climate than Medellin in my opinion.

From San Jose to Quepos I took the bus, just to see the topography. At one point we crossed a bridge over a river and there were some large crocodiles lurking down below. Quite a sight!

On the way back, rather than take a four-five hour ride, I took the plane with Sansa Air which is a twelve seater with one propellor. The wind was incredible and even though the flight was only twenty minutes, we were bounced all over the sky...........I didn't think we'd make it! Dropping, dipping sideways... unbelievable! And this in a plane about the same size as an SUV! When we landed, the winds at the airport in San Jose were very strong making landing difficult. I was assured by a fellow passenger that this was a rare occurrence.

Some impressions of Costa Rica as it was my first visit:

The people are very friendly and the standard of living is quite high. Not even once did I detect an 'us and them' mentality when it came to how the local people deal with the foreigners. The Costa Ricans seem at peace and tranquil.

There is an amazing amount of things to do including, snorkeling; diving; surfing; jungle tours; white water rafting; animals to see; ultralighting............all withing a small area.

The local women are quite beautiful and very approachable, and many people speak English.....unusual for a Latin country.

The downside was the extreme heat on the Pacific coast.

I was in Quepos last October (2006) housesitting a nice home with pool between Quepos and Manual Antonio. I was there for 35 days. The home sold for about $ 200,000.00 just after I left.

The two night clubs in Quepos....one over the bridge on the North side of Quepos, and the other on the road....approx. half way between Quepos and Manual Antonio.....are both sucker joints.

You really can not get any good action in either place for much less than $ 300.00 a pop.

Instead go downtown and look on the street around the Kamuk Hotel....up near the beach on the benches....there will be some strickly local streetwalker types gals around there.

Plus Wacky Wandas bar, and the other little bar right next door (across the street from the Hotel Kamuk) will have working gals there at and after about 7 to 8PM.

You can take them to your hotel.....Kamuk is not particullary chica friendly, unless you take them up the back stairs. They will not let you take a gal up unless she came with and is registered with you.....if you go by the reception area.

The gals working in Quepos are mostly local ticas from Quepos, or they will be from the Dominican....staying and working the Quepos area.

$ 40.00 to 50.00 will do the job with them.....and sometimes cheaper if your Espanol is good, and you bargain a little.

There is a very small tico hotel.....where some of the girls live....and where you can take them for a session for about 2000 colones. Ask them they all know where it is. It is unmarked, but is only about 5 to 6 blocks from the bus station.....in the center of town.

I did that when I was there, as the owners of the house where I was sitting, specifically asked me not to bring any of the girls out from town to their house.....and I respected their wishes.

Plus there is a little hotel called the Malachie Hotel (sp) about 1 1/2 blockes from the bus station that you can get by the night for only $ 15 to 20.00.

See Melissa, or Luis, the daughter-in-law and son of the owner............this hotel is chica friendly, and Melissa (a tica) will even call and call and arrange for one her tica friends to come over to session with you at this hotel......no problems......at least she did with me on a couple of occasions.

Pura Vida

Hi All,

Looking for CURRENT info on Quepos. Going to be there next March and I know it isn't the best place to monger BUT I am sorta ending up here (not for mongering) but would like to slip out for a few hours and sample the flavor.

From what I hear thats really not possible without dropping 3 bills but would like to find out if you can hit an area without a hotel room and score for a decent amount of money. Just wondering whats current here.

Thanks for the info!

Los Pescadores is located right next store to Wacky Wandas, across the street from the Best Western hotel and casino. Look for a big guy there named Jim. he is one of the owners. He will steer you in the right direction.

Hey guys,

I've mongered in San Jose before, but this time I need to be on the West Side for other reasons. I will not have a lot of free time.

I am curious if there is any reliable way find girls? I don't think I will have time to do a lot of searching, nor will I probably be able to hit up the bars during the prime time (I assume 9-2am). I will probably be restricted to odd times during the time or very early morning.

Any ideas?

Not in Quepos--some action downtown at night at bar next to Wanda's.

Only hope would be Jaco, 1 hr north, and that may be hard if you can't go out at least 1 night and make arrangements or daytime stuff.

Quepos is not what it used to be. In years past, it was crawling with Ticas. We were just their 2 weeks ago and wished we had imported some in with us from San Jose. 7 days in Manuel Antonio/Quepos was hard for me being a fellow monger. I could not wait to get back to San Jose!

Hi,

Going to be in MA next month and was wondering what the best option for mongering (if any) is for during the day? I can only escape for a little while during the day and really won't even have a room for that time. I am probably SOL, I know there are better options but thats all I have so I figured I would ask! Any options near MA (doesn't have to be Quepos) would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I was thinking either Quepos on the Pacific or Playa Cocles on the Atlantic. Are the beaches on Quepos nice? Are the girls pretty? I've been to Jacó and wish to try something different.

I spent 30 days in Quepos about a year a a half ago.

There are 2 to 3 brokers in town that set up fishing trips. They are building a brand new marina there....but not sure if its finished or not.

Probably the best hotel in Quepos is the Best Western....going for about $ 50 to 60 a night.

You can stay at cheaper hotels though....and there is one around the corner from the Best Western for $ 20.00 where I have stayed. Its OK for the price.

There are also some good hotels out towards Manual Antonio Beach......about 6 miles from Quepos. Some are real up scale and fairly expensive.

Fishing should be pretty good in Quepos.

There are a few places to find P4P gals in Quepos. I would check out Whacky Wandas Bar and the bar next to it. There are also several streetwalkers who are working the Quepos scene.

I would not call Quepos a mongering destination of note....but you can get laid there if you look and ask around.

The bus to Quepos goes from San Jose through Jaco Beach then on to Quepos.....perhaps a trip of around 5 hours,,,,,give or take.

Nature Air also served Quepos out of a small airport in San Jose......not the international airport. I believe they have one flight per day into Quepos....that would shorten your trip.

You can also take Greyline or Interbus......mini buses with air conditioning from San Jose to Quepos.

Make sure you go on out to Manual Antonio beach....in my opinion it is perhaps the most pristine and beautiful beach in all of Central America.

The fishing out of Quepos is great. The mongering, not so much.

The last time I went fishing there, I caught a 25 pound Dorado, and 3 Pacific Sail Fish that were between 100 and 150 pounds. The other 2 guys on my boat each got at least 1 Dorado and one Sail Fish. We could have easily caught 10-12 sail fish on our boat if we hadn't come across a big smart bottlenose dolphin that kept taking the live bait off of our lines and was driving the mate on our boat crazy.

A great restaurant on the road up to Manuel Antonio that will prepare your catch (Dorado in my case, as the sail fish are catch and release) superbly and inexpensively is Mar Luna.

I didn't see any streetwalkers in Quepos that I'd actually pay to fuck. I stayed in the Malinche for $25 a night, around the corner from the Best Western. It was adequate for dirt cheap. I've also stayed in nicer places on the road to Manuel Antonio. Malinche is good for one night when you want to just roll out of bed and walk to the fishing pier early in the AM. For several days, I'd go for one of the numerous much nicer places near the entrance to Manuel Antonio.

I rented a 3 bedroom house for about $100 a day. Great investment.

The cheap hotel that I was talking about below around the corner from the Best Western is the same as noted below.......the Malinche Hotel......which is very Chica friendly....no extra charge....while the Best Western is less Chica friendly....not exactly sure on their policies though as I have never stayed at (the Best Western)

The son of the owner speaks perfect English and is in the fishing business.
He has a small fishing brokerage office right next to the hotel.

His young wife is the manager of the hotel Malinche. She is pretty young with a young son who hangs around the hotel tended by a nanny.

This little gal (can not remember her name) speaks passable English, and when I stayed there in 2007.....I asked her about some working gals.....she told me what she knew....and then actually fixed me up with a friend of hers who came by the hotel later for a session with me.

Look for gals who set on the park benches or on the benches in fromt and across the street from the beach where the boats are....you cant miss it......

There was to be a brand new marina here.....out in front of the Best Western hotel.....but I believe they are or have had some problems getting their financing in order to build it....so it may or may not be completed.

But you can walk around the whole town in perhaps 30 minutes or so...it is small.
If you need some transportation....my last trip I rented a motor scooter from Fast Eddie......a moto dealer there in town. Buses are good too, ....especially coming and going from Manual Antonio.

Good luck fishing........it´s a good place to fish.......

The son of the hotel owner above......I think he has a brand new large boat, and will take guys out on charter fishing trips. It is not cheap to charter a boat....but worthwhile if perhaps 2 or 3 guys can go together to pay for the boat.

The Malinche hotel is not bad at all for $ 20 to 25.00....that room has a large fan, but for about $ 15.00 you can get an airconditioned room in the newer section of the hotel.

I had forgotten the name of the hotel we are talking about but my fellow board member below has supplied that along with some more detailed info about Quepos.

And I spent 30 days in Quepos.....so had a chance to really check things out there.....and contrary to what he is saying below......I found perhaps about 8 to 10 or more gals working the P4P scene in Quepos.

There are also a couple of night clubs with gals....but I visited both of those and they are very expensive for sessions with the girls on site....maybe you could visit them....have a couple of drinks....chat with the ladies, and then make an after hours date for them to drop by your hotel.

Again....you can get laid in Quepos......but it is not just as easy there as it is in San Jose for example....but rember that Quepos is a very small town...and most gals wanting to get into the P4P game on a serious note....would hop onto a bus and go to either Jaco Beach or San Jose to éarn a living in the P4P game.

Steve

Quepos is ok, the short ride to Manual Antonio is nice and the beach in Manuel Antonio is gorgeous. As far as Chicas, I was outa there after a couple of days. No action unless you want to deal with some Dominicas. Not my cup of tea! No real beach in Quepos, you'll get eaten by Crocs, if you mess around there. Don't use the guy from the Best Western for a fishing trip. look some other place.

I noticed nobody's posted since last year. Although Quepos is never going to be SJ or Jaco, the action has picked up considerably. Been there many many times in 13 years. 6x since December. Alot more action now, maybe 20 or more of them at peak, mainly after 6-7 pm at bar LaPescadora (great cheeseburger) , across from Best Western, and some next door at bar Wacky Wanda's but they go back and forth. A mix of Dominicans, Nica's and out of town, mostly, Tica's, a few 7's, an ocasional 8 or 9, still alot better than years gone by. I found a hot, slim, decent english speaking semi-pro Tica there in Dec and I'm still with her. To be safe, if you have a regular in SJ, or if you find one in SJ that'll go with you and you like her, do that, but non-regulars can be hard, are expensive, and it often backfires-they can turn into bitches real easy after they're there a day. I've done it 10 times until I had enough regulars for company (In CR, always have a back-up plan). Make sure you negotiate a per diem pay rate, not all at once, and let them know if they start getting headaches or miss their kids or whatever, they're going back on the bus-not the shuttle or taxi-the bus. Ticas are used to the bus. And don't forget, if she's not a regular you've been with a number of times, it's hard to spend day and night and living quarters with someone you hardly know. And one more thing, they don't add in the fact that you are wining and dining them, etc-that doesn't factor in to their equation.

I believe the place you're referring to is La Sirena not Las Sirenas. Big difference. Its a small little (14 room) boutique hotel located in the center of Quepos. Las Sirenas is located way out on the outskirts of Quepos.La Sirena, aka Sirena, is a small white hotel, centro, pool, breakfast, the rooms are very, very close to the pool, so if some people are partying late or kids are playing early, you ain't sleeping. Same thing with the kitchen. Was for sale in May 2011. If noise doesn't bother you, pretty good value.

I think Las Sirenas is now called Leyla's or Layla's on the way out to the airport. Used to be a major clip joint. You can rent a room at Leyla's, girls live there too. Prices dropped dramatically in the redone Disco, beers are now normal price. 6-8 girls, nothing special, $50 half hour. Bunch of Tico's were drinking when I stopped in May 2011 to check it out. Other than their 4-some, was empty.

I heading to the Quepos / MA Area this week and was wondering if there is any daytime or afternoon joints. By this I mean, Strip Joints, Brothels, or by the hour girls who are easy to work with. I am traveling with a group and many of the wives and girlfriends would not approve of "playing" so there needs to be someway that I can get away discretely. Also, I can't just disappear at midnight to go find the only game in town.

I'd prefer a strip joint where I could get the bump and grind from a beautiful tica. Any advice? The time's running out.

I am leaning towards Quepos and Manual Antonio for a change of scenery from San Jose for 4 days (I figured Jaco is not what I'm after, expensive and not a very nice beach). I know it would be in MA but may be that's what I need after crazy San Jose!

I heard there are a couple of bars in Quepos to get a drink at night and may be have some fun. Though not much action I hear.

It seems it's an easy taxi ride between the two, and Quepos beach is not suitable for swimming, not clean and occasional crocs around! I wonder, can't these crocs swim up to MA beaches! (hopefully they don't like salt water!).

So I want to stay in a hotel in Manual Antonio to be close to a beach and go to Quepos in the evening. Any hotel recommendations (reasonably prices) or other intel is really appreciated,

Cheers,

Cheers, There are 100 hotels on the road to the beach in MA. You need to decide if you want to be on (only a few) or near the beach, or "up on the hill" which means a cab or bus ride to the beach, but nice hotels. There are only two on the beach that I rec'd. Karahe and Verde Mar, both have websites, Verde Mar have kitchenettes, the beach side of Karahe's (it's on both sides of the road) are newer and nicer, but no kitchens. I prefer Verde Mar for that reason, nice to have a little "snack bar" at your disposal all day / nite. Cab is about $5 each way to Quepos, regular bus service but alot of stops and slow (up the hill, down the hill).

I was in Quepos in August for a week and had a great time. MA is not so much of a town as it is a road that snakes down the coast, terminating in the public beach and the National Park. MA is really just a string of tourist trap restaurants that all service the beach hotels and visitors to the park.

Most of the food along the MA road was decent, but nothing special. The prices sucked and the flavors were average but the portions were always good. There were a few high points. Cafe Agua Azul is good but pricey and almost L. A. Snotty. CAFE MILAGRO is superb. They have a coffee roaster in town but their restaurant in MA is fantastic. Cafe Milagro has a chorizo and calamari appetizer that is perfectly orgasmic.

The bus between MA Quepos is very easy (17 min. During the day. 33 min at night) and if you're spending any time there, will save you a ton of money. Along the way from Quepos to MA is a Strip Bar called 'Las Sirenas'. My party tried going there twice but they were closed by 1:00 AM, so it never worked out. It doesn't appear to be open during the day.

In Quepos, along the street that is parallel to the sea wall is the Best Western and Casino. This is the hub of all vice and debauchery in town. The casino is safe and is teaming with chicas of all shapes and sizes. It closes down on the weekends at 4:00 AM. Across the side street are 'Whacky Wanda's' and 'Los Pescadores', both of which are clean and have cheap drinks. They are just small bars with normal chairs, booth's and bar stools, but are teaming with working girls. In fact, it is difficult to look around or in any of the mirrors behind the bar and not make eye contact, at which point. They jump you.

I stayed in Costa Verde which is the hotel with the room in the 727 fuselage [google it]. I got a great rate and had a bungalo with a kitchenette. 2 beds for about $88 / day. They are not chica friendly as they have a 24 hour security guard, but it would have been easy to bring a 'friend' to your room during the day. It was very near the beach and about half way between the Park Entrance and Quepos. I was there with a wedding and visited about 20 other hotels, condo's, rooms and was very pleased with the $/value that I had.

My advice would be to stay / beach in the tourist trap that is MA but for late night bars and girls go to town. Avoid the drug dealers and the pimps in the bars can be skipped. Just deal with the girls unless you want 'new amigo's' to buy drinks for.

Thanks for the report, it's reassuring to know there's plenty of action in Quepos. But hotel info there is far and few between. I had a re-think and thought may be it's better to stay at central Quepos and only bus / taxi to the beach during the day time, rather than do the opposite from hotel to the bars at night.

I found a good deal on Best Western on the web but I hear they are very strict about guests (any new intel on this! Some say you can take upstairs from their own casino but not from outside!). Hotel Malinche is an option, but I read it's very low-end! So I am still looking for a hotel option near Quepos town center.

Of course failing that, there is always MA options.

I don't know anything about Quepos hotels but they all looked very sketch. Even the Best Western didn't look like someplace I'd like to stay. It was like boarder town Mexico or any city in Cuba [other than Havana]. If you are looking to relax by at the pool and have drinks brought to you, I can't think of a place in Quepos.

It all depends on what you're looking for in a vacation, I suppose. If you're looking for a room circa '81 to 'sleep' in between chicas while you go on excursions during the day, then stay in Quepos. Personally, I don't care to fly 1000's of miles and not have some relaxing down time in a semi-comfortable space. To each their own.

I can tell you that if you go North out of Quepos you can visit the old port / marina, Boca Veijo. It's walking distance. Just cross the one lane bridge that leaves town to the North along the sea wall, go past the school and to the left back in a working man's neighborhood is a bar called 'El Pescadito'. I spent 4-6 hours their and found it very authentic. They have a large women up front cooking GREAT food for cheap and any number of kinds of people coming in and out. I was offered turtle eggs and a few other types of contraband that shall remain nameless. There was a strip-club in this area as well but it was closed and had a for-sale sign in front of it. Anyone want to start a business with me?

At least that is what I was told by security.

I have had guests without signing them in.

It all depends if security is at their post or walking around.

I have seen several men bring girls from San Jose with them and stay at Costa Verde.

Following on my SJ feedback, I just add a few lines regarding Quepos.

After a few days in SJ and seeing the prices I was in money saving mode for transport and hotel. So I went to Quepos by public bus. BTW they now depart from Trapoca station. 1.5k taxi ride from La Amistad. I went there in the morning to check it out and buy ticket (their phone didn't reply) , but it wasn't necessary as it is perfectly safe and you can buy ticket if you go 30min earlier. Unless it's a special holiday.

They tell you a lot about how dangerous everything is and you should not go anywhere or do anything alone and pay high prices to hire a car / driver or get a guide, but don't listen and go for it with some common sense and research you save a lot. I found they have a whole set up in CR for dumb gringos to extract money from, try to avoid it.

I also tried Best Western hotel but found the prices high $73, and also they didn't have a room for all my stay and wanted me to change room and move the next day. I went round the corner to hotel Malinche, $30 single (no guests) or $45 for double (chica ok). Small rooms but clean and everything works, A / C, WiFi ok in my room but I was downstairs near the reception. No fridge though, no safe box, luck your stuff. No luxury but adequate.

It's just 100m from Los Pescadores which is the only place with chicas. About 5/6 Dominicanas and a 3/4 ticas, really below par, I wouldn't do them if I didn't have to! The only treat were a couple of ticas that came with me on the bus! I guessed they looked a bit out of place, I also saw them on the beach alone and then in that bar at night, then I figured. Then they also recognised me from the bus.

I remember they had lost their suitcase's tickets (which they give so you can re-collect them at the end of the trip) and had a fight with the driver until they found it again! So we talked and laughed about it. They were weekend warriors from SJ, come every other weekend to make some money. Couldn't work in SJ due to not wanting to be recognized. Fun to hang around with and we went to check out a few other bars, like Music, disco Republica and local hang out disco Arco Iris (rainbow). All walking distance (Quepos is fairly safe to walk, unless very late may be). Nothing interesting, mostly young tourists. Some other nights I went on my own and they were some locals but they wouldn't give me the time of the day, generally I found younger (tica) locals not approachable in CR, in some other places I have been I found it easier, I speak some Spanish and can dance fairly good. But no chance in CR. Though I haven't spend much time in CR to be fair.

Anyway, the 2 SJ weekenders realized I'm not a big spender and when I joked about their $100 quote we split, I took the number of one and called her late at night when I realised there are the best I could find. A ST for $60 was arranged, not a bad session, no DFK but BBBJ was ok. Another night I took the other one but she refused BBBJ and would not budge, so I asked for the first one to come, she then came and got mad that I revealed she did BBBJ the night before to her friend, what a big deal! Anyway kicked both out and called a DR girl I got a number from in Los Pescadores, ST $60, no problem with anything, DFK, BBBJ and two shots, stay until I asked her to leave. Though fairly chubby and way below my standard!

That was all the chica adventures I had in Quepos, I also got another DR chica number but didn't hook up. I went to Bamboo Jam one night (2k taxi each way on the way to MA) as they had live music, nice place to hang out with locals and tourists, specially if you can dance, small place no WG though.

BTW the Arco Iris was suppose to be good Sat late night for locals, but they wanted 3k just to enter (at 2am) , no drinks with that (Republic is 2k). I wanted to first look inside and they wouldn't let me, Thr night was free entry early and I went inside at 11:30pm and there was no one in, very large place though, so wanted to check this time before paying, no go, it was late and I skipped.

In the hindsight I would have taken that DR chica from SJ ($50 a day, see my post there) , but I didn't know. Again I heard more girls come later on, I was there early Jan which was low season apparently as far as chicas concerned. They mostly go home for holidays in this period.

On the positive side I loved the MA beach, huge beach and nice clean waters, did canopy tour (loved it, great fun, you should do it at least once). Did a ATV tour. Not really worth it, do horse riding instead or rafting. Didn't get to do volcano, I heard weather is mostly cloudy during Jan. If I ever go back to CR it would be to take someone with me to Quepos & MA and enjoy the beach.

In CR and more in Quepos & MA they add the damn 13% or 16% tax plus 10% service sometime without telling you, so make sure you always check. Also there are quite a few gays (note spelling is correct!) in Quepos & MA, they have their own disco as well, so don't get too friendly with a guy thinking of a wingman and you might get more than you bargain for! LOL.

Ask or PM for any questions. RTFF the boards and you learn all you need. Thanks for all the help.

Cheers,

Chukie

I stayed at the Best Western. Nothing special, just a cheap hotel. It was chica friendly, no fee. I brought back one girl from Pescadores across the street. 4 guys in there and 4 chicas. These are just average looking girls. They wouldn't be able to compete at the Del Rey in San Jose or Cocal in Jaco. Negotiations started at $80. 00. And I took mine back for $70. 00. I wouldn't go to Quepos for mongering, but if you are there and need something to do they are available. I didn't see any girls working in the Best Western Casino. There was hardly anyone there.

There are places in that price range in Quepos in March. Le Priss, is one, maybe, in cash-and it's OK; Hotel Sanchez, to me not acceptable. A few others along that line. One more question, please. What is the likelihood of finding an English-speaking Tica in the Quepos area who is not a prostitute and just wants to hang out? Where would I go to find a MILF? Gracias.

Maybe the girls working at the hotel desks-they ususally are straight and almost all speak enuf english. 95% of the local straight girls don't speak english and don't want to be seen with a gringo for fear of gossip. It can be done but it takes time developing contacts and numerous trips. Hard to get "in the door" in this smaller town.

OK, thanks, Dgfd. I assume Pescadora is a bar in Quepos?Yes, across the street from Best Western in downtown Quepos by the seawall. After 6 pm? This time of year there will 15-20, alot of Dominicanas, Nica, a few Ticas from out of town. A few keepers every time I go, but if you see one you like, don't waste time. This time of year it's full of gringo fisherman who will tie them up for hours just bull shitting with them. There's bar next door, Wacky Wanda's where some of them will sit, and some hang at the casino bar at the Best Western, but if you sit in Pescadora, you eventually see all or most of them, they walk back and forth or staqnd out in front.

Also, best cheeseburger in CR. American owned. Normal drink prices. Safe, bouncer named Shane on the premises keeps the rifff raff out. Very good gringo sports on two Tv's. These girls will also know of cheap short time rooms if that's what you'd prefer.

Pescadora is closed. Forget Quepos for now.Well good news, maybe. The guy that owns Luna Tours, a long time Quepos fishing charter company, has bought the closed Pescadora which had been the only real or reliable or gringo hunting ground for chicas. A little action next door at Wacky's and across the street at the casino in the Best Western and at Leyla's on the way to the hospital / airport, but Pescadora had pretty much captured the gringo player market for a good 3 years. The previous guy, who had recently bought it from the guy who turned it #1, got himself all jammed up and it got closed.

New owner has totally gutted the place, modernizing the front, new everything. Don't know what his ultimate game plan is but I did see his new logo for the place which will be called "Double Hooked", a fishing terem but in this case with a double entendre. The logo has a voluptuous chica in a hot bikini riding a big marlin bareback. So I think there's hope. Aiming for an October opening. He'd be smart to let it happen and I know the guy a little and he's smart, made something out of nothing 20 years ago with Luna tours. But, his new tica esposa is kind of a goodie-goodie though. We'll see.

Dgfd
12-06-13, 19:42
The guy that bought the Pescadores remodeled it beautifully, reopened a few months ago and renamed it Double Hook, won't let the girls in. Place is empty. Some girls hanging around next door at Wacky's next door and across the street at the Casino, or just standing on the corner, but the numbers are way down. A place called Canatico opened and then got closed, and then re-opened this week but now not letting the girls in. Byo to Quepos unless you really know the town and have good Spanish.

I can't find a chica friendly hotel in this town. Got to be at least one.Really none of the hotels in Quepos are nice enough for me, sorry if anyone is offended by that. So I assume you, too, will be staying some place on the road to ManuelAntonio. If you ask them, they will say no. So, boys, please don't ask. Other then the really high end hotels that have security where you park or get dropped off, with a guest list printout, they could care less. And many of the rest are laid out differently, not having to go passed a front desk to get to your room.

If you are BYO which I recommend, just check her in when you do.

If you are going to hunt for it, slim pickings but some nice ones. They are hanging out on the corner at the Best Western, and some are allowed into the casino on the ground floor, and in Canatico, the bar to the north. Mostly Dominicana's and Nica's, a few Tica's but usually not from Quepos. Anyway that's it for Quepos unless you know people to hook you up, a great selection of gorgeous semi's that you are not going to find in a bar. Quepos / MA area, for as big as it is, is a "small town" meaning they all know each other personally or by sight and being seen with a gringo by the Best Western or Canatico is def not good. Or at the hotels, which are all manned by Quepoans, from housekeeping, bartenders, waiters, to security. So, a bit tricky on that angle and it takes time and extra effort.

Pescadoras changed lessees app 2 years ago, now is "The Double Hook" and new lessee will not allow the girls in. Incidentally, this new lessee has his lease listed on Century 21 website for $250 k. Delusional, has 2 years left on the lease. But he put a fair amount into the remodel, mainly sweat equity with he and his friends gutting and remodeling. Nice job too. So he's going to take a hit on that place. Wouldn't listen to many Quepos reg's to let the girls in or you're not going to make it by being only a gringo bar with no pussy. Too many gringo bars and very seasonal--like 4-5 months. But he has a fairly successful 2 boat fishing business and a US pension so he'll be around.

And the owner, who also owns the adjoining bar "Wacky Wanda's" has both listed for $450 k or something like that. They really are the same building, just divided up.

I'm going to Costa Rica in April and was planning on spending 5 days in Quepos and 2 days in San Jose.

Main purpose of the trip is mongering but I do plan on doing some fishing while in Quepos.

Is Quepos dead now for mongering? I have only been to Cost Rica once before and spent most of my time in Jaco. Am I making a mistake focusing on Quepos? Should I spend more time in San Jose for the mongering side of the trip?

Thanks in advance!

For most new travelers to Quepos, best advice is BYO.

Great fishing, better by far rates then Jaco and much more avails re: boats and captains. Puss? Hands down Jaco. Quepos some p4 p at casino Kamuk as a geographical center but not great, a lot of great stuff available but takes time. I think I have posted extensively in this topic / thread but did not look.

ToxoDepends on what week you are coming to Costa Rica. Samana Santa (Easter week) 3/30/ - 4/5 is a no go to see. Are. April 11-17th is the Offshore World Championship in Quepos http://www.offshoreworldchampionship.com/, so you will not be able to get a boat. After that week, yes. Most of my guys are now Going to Jaco. Cocal is just off the chain on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Fishing is as hot as the chica's are. We have boats out of there (Herredura) starting at $475. Don't forget the new Croc's casino.

A bunch of guys going this week, could use some help on finding reliable massage parlors or mongering around Quepos or Manuel Antonio (or areas near). Any updates on the previous bars listed?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. This is very simple to answer, there is none of the above. All the mongering is in Jaco. There is one strip club in M. A. But that's it. Might try craigslist or backpage to find an occasional advertising.

O. L. D. One Lucky Dogg.Have just noticed this post. My answer may help future members. Quepus. Manuel Antonio area is very limited in any adult night life related to Playa Jaco or San Jose. You have to understand that the good looking young chicas are simply taking short drive and hunging in Playa Joco for more tourists opportunities.

The options in Quepus are as following:

Quepus Casino. Permanently there are some girls offer there services in all given time. Especially at night time. The down size is that most of them NOT attractive / older age / looks sick! The price is 100 $ for short term (expensive!).

Double Hook bar. Just across the Casino / open bar place with some working girls hanging around. In my last visit I found the bartender as the most sweet around. But still she was not officially offered extra services.

The Gentlemen Club. Is located in short drive from Quepus to Manuel Antonio. It may be the last rescue for adult nightlife. The girls are sweet and dancing by request. The downsize is the prices! They asked me for 270 $ for in club sex action and 400 $ for taking out a girl. You must.

Understand that theses prices are not real in Costa Rica!!

I'm living in Costa Rica local chicas expert, and can help with any question.
