What defines a "brothel" in Germany?

Like anywhere else in the world, a brothel is a place where you pay prostitutes for sex. Period.

So all the other type of places where you pay for sex with prostitutes are brothels too, whether they are called FKK-clubs, Sauna Clubs, Partytreffs or whatever. The difference to a regular brothel is that you can usually stay for hours at the clubs, use the facilities between sessions and often get food and drinks included in the entrance fee.

At a regular brothel you enter, you pick a woman, you pay, you do your thing and then you leave again. Mostly those are private apartments, but they can be entire buildings with seperate rooms for each girl too (a so-called Eros-center or Laufhaus) or even have a bar where you can have a drink before you get busy with the woman of your choice. There's usually no entrance fee. ("Usually" because at Pascha in Cologne, which is the biggest brothel in Germany with over 100 women on 7 floors, you'll actually have to pay 5 € to enter the Laufhaus, but that includes free softdrinks as well.)

I think you can use brothel as the bucket classification if a club for some reason just does not fit into any other category, because as Swinger said they are all just brothels. Just like all the girls who work in them are ho's.

Agree with previous posts. A brothel is a place where one can obtain walk-in incall sex with a prostitute without an appointment. There are subcategories, but "brothel" has no specific meaning.

What I propose to call by "brothel" for the subforum "Germany-Brothels" is a place "indoor" (not in the streets or a park. Etc.) where we can find ladies who propose "paid sex services (with coitus)" AND if we are not interested in any ladies, we can leave the place without spending any penny.

Often (probably not always) in these places.

1) free drinks (probably not all kinds of drinks) are offered if we decide to stay with a lady.

2) the house manages as much as possible to avoid a customer from meeting another one.

I think that it is right to categorize erotic centers as brothels. Being pay-per-session eliminates flat-rate categories. They seem to be more of a place to stop by and hit it, compared to the FKK clubs, where you might sauna, eat, relax, etc.
