I would also like to use intra-city buses some but I read about a new smart card ticket system for the buses.

Does anyone know if many of the buses still accept cash? How can I get a smart card? Any info would be much appreciated.

GrandPopConcerning using a bus in MGA I would not. I with my Novia have used them, but no more. They can get extremely crowded, and there have been many robberies on them. The cabs are dirt cheap, and much more easy to use.

There's an Autohotel nearby.Confirmed. There is an ever changing group here late into the night. Although the area, despite the security presence, is a little suspect. Damn cheap though!

There is also a handful of girls a few blocks south. But just working the day shift.

Does anyone know if Hotel Pachelly is still in business? I've tried several booking sites and for any date I specify, they all say that no room is available for that date. The Facebook page for Hotel Pachelly says to book online at hotelpachelly. online.com.ni but that doesn't seem to work, either. I have a reservation for Hotel the'Lido but that seems to be on the wrong side of the city for most of the places that appeal to me. Thanks for any info!

The best hotel in Nicaragua is hotel Yolaina. Went for 2 days in Feb and stayed for 4. I will never stay anywhere else in Managua. Yes! MDE is one of my favorite places, for chicas, weather, and everything else in between. . on the contrary, I think that this hot looking girl could also be good in the sack: seemed to like things at least a little rough (biting and choking) and had a GFE demeanor and attitude. Then again she could have been working extra hard for that US $300. There was nothing but locals in the club, and I can't see them paying these rates. In hindsight I feel that I was subject to gringo pricing.

Any advice will be appreciated.That was a scene I was never directly involved in but I knew one couple that was years ago. I'm sure it took some effort on their part to find working girls who were okay with this but I can tell you they never had a shortage of women, and most were quite attractive.

As far as attempting to find them near auto-hotels, I would advise against that. I think you would be better off trying to find partners in a strip joint. Tell the girls what you want and even if they are not interested, they can probably tell you if any of the other girls are.

I'm glad it's easier to get there now. I don't beleive the $200 dollar thing especially with the part where the cops asked for nothing at all yet supported this scam. If it did happen to you, that's amazing.

Solid Gold was a joke and a dump years ago and now it even looks like a dump on the outside. If it's open, let us know how it is. I went there once for free with an offer from the management and it was still a waste of my time.

Maybe it is a cloud with a silver lining. If you like the clubs, I hope it is for your entertainment fun. It is close enough to where Hollywood was so the walk will be the same. At worst, it's closed, or open and a waste of time.

I think SG is closed. I just got back from Managua last night and we passed it a lot and the whole facility looks like shit. Anyway even if open it was a joke the one time I made the error of going there.

Interestingly I saw a great looking blonde going into Diamond for work and I don't know where she's from but she certainly wasn't from Central America. Russia maybe? Hard to say but a real babe. Still not worth their ridiculous prices and since I was with one of my exes not really an option. I remember before McDonalds there, the girls from Diamond were out back of the Texaco a lot for smokes and they were easy to chat to and arrange something outside the purview of the club. No idea if they wander there now.

Granada is a great idea if you are 70+ and wear socks with sandals. It is boring.

I have never seen working girls there. These places are where married guys take girlfriends and where younger guys who live at home do the same. I go with either girls I see on the side while the girl I am with works, and sometimes with the girl I am with who likes the experience, sex chair, jacuzzi (if you get enough hot water to fill it, which is tough), round bed, room service, etc.

Daytime, even if there were girls would be highly unlikely. Like zero chance. Not saying it can't happen but I think it is fair to say it doesn't happen.

And you don't book at an autohotel. You arrive and drive into an open room's garage space.

I have been to Nicaragua many times, and one thing I would bet money on is that it will never become a Costa Rica. The main reason is that the weather is so darn hot. Now you look at San Jose in Costa Rica. The temperature is very comfortable. Same goes for Lima in Peru. Now there is some nice weather in other parts of Nicaragua, but we are talking mongering in the major cities, and I don't see it becoming a Costa Rica.I'm watching the uh. 'Nica Canal' project with interest. If, and it is a huge if, they actually manage to complete that project, the economic impact on Nicaragua will be immense. Nicaragua has a lot of areas that if developed and run properly, could give Costa Rica a serious run for its money. My money is on the Nicaraguan Labor Syndicates screwing something up though and chasing the Chinese away, but if it is actually completed there may be some new destinations to pursue the hobby.

Well, I made it to Managua earlier this December. I traveled all over the country and I'll post more in those sections. Managua was a nice surprise. Although there is traffic, pollution, and parts are dangerous, that's to be expected in a big, third-world city. I took a licensed taxi (they have the light on the roof) everywhere, and I was safe even late at night. I went to Good Times twice while I was there, and I really liked it. It's a nice, small strip club, and the Nica chicas were much hotter than I expected.

Three or four 10's both nights, with the rest 7's to 9's. They all quoted US $100 for an hour in the back room, and I know that Nica men pay less than that. I negotiated Pamela down to $80 and that's the best I could do.

I really don't understand how they make money there (other than buying the chicas expensive drinks), because they'll sit on your lap and grind on you as long as you want, without a charge. You can feel them up without getting thrown out, too. One chica had her hand down my pants for about ten minutes.

Streetwalkers are everywhere on the main road from the airport to downtown. They hang out in front of gas stations and convenience stores. I didn't engage with any of them, but I saw several 9's and 10's.

There are too many auto hotels and motels in Managua to list but some of the better choices are Fantasia near place Inter, Auto Hotel 10 1/2 on careterra masaya, there are a couple near tiscapa. You should expect to pay between 10 and 20 usd for about 3 hours in one of these nicer places. They also have suite with Jacuzzi which can run up to 40 usd for 3 hours. There is even one called Autohotel Vistas de Asososca near the us embassy that offers free transportation when you leave. Any taxi can take you to a short time place and you can even arrange for it to come back to pick you up.Be aware that at 10 1/2 the water supply is lacking enough hot to actually fill the jacuzzi which also leaks a bit. Quite an exercise getting enough in to even make the jets work before the hot water expires or what you managed to get in it leaks away. Not a great value.

The principals of Fantasia and 10 1/2 have a 3rd one the name of which escapes me.

Theoretically you can walk into these places but they are off the beaten track so a car or a taxi who will come back is pretty much essential.

A couple others depending on where you are include El Almendro (not to be confused with an actual hotel of the same name in LOS Robles), Burbujas near the entrance to Ciudad Sandino, Salamandra near the quite dangerous Hugo Chavez barrio. The latter is quite cheap but the area is dodgy.

My driver takes me to the AH, then leaves and comes back at the expiry time.

NB They always offer a slightly superior rate for US$ than cambistas do , so if you have US you save maybe 50 cents on a better room.

Was down in Nicaragua last week.

The plan was to go out the first night and last due to catching Spirit red eyes.

Didn't make it the first night.

After a week at the beaches we drove back in.

If visiting Nicaland, you will most definitely want to go to the Malcon while in Managua! It's great. Even on a Sunday night it was packed!

Lots of places to get food and drink! If you speak Spanish (I don't), I have no doubt pick ups can be done there.

With time running out I hit up Good Time 9-1030 pm.

150 cdbs entrance fee.

100 cdbs beer.

185 cdbs for lady drinks.

With time running out, bought a girl a drink and tried to chat her up. Luckily she went and got her phone with translate.

Was quoted US $30 for a two song lap dance in private room.

US $120 for a half hour of sexo!

Told her I thought it was 700 cdbs for half hour, she told me it was management rules?

Place was pretty dead, handful of customers and only a few girls at 10 pm.

Perhaps she wasn't to interested in a session, but at those prices I passed regardless.

She was pretty damn hot and now that I am back home, wish I had spent the money and brought home the memory instead of the cash.

Will say I got eyes on about 6 or 7 girls, 3-4 of them were hot the others, depending on taste, doable.

Would go back again if I am ever in Managua.

Hello all. Will be in Managua soon for a week. Staying at Hotel_San_Luis (incidentally, does anyone know if this hotel is chica-friendly?

Not been to this part of the World before, so have been reading through the forum with interest. This is downtime rather than business so whilst I hope to do some day trips and see a few sights / experience Managua / Nicaragua otherwise, the opportunity to follow this hobby whilst there should help to make the trip.

I arrive mid morning, should be checked in and ready to roll around midday. I'd like to spend that first day scoping out the establishments many of you have mentioned.

I'll be relying on walking or taxi. I'd like to try and put a plan together as to where to visit and in what order (I. E. What is closest together, relative to the hotel, etc). Any advice on what way I can approach that?

I like to spend time in strip clubs (but only if theres enough going to to keep things interesting and if its not a total $ rip off). Is Good Times the best option in that respect? Are there any other contenders?

Any feedback appreciated (and of course, in due course, I'll provide my own. Check my previous posts. You'll see that I have. For other parts of the World).

Not sure I would go to Managua just to hobby.

There are members here with a lot more knowledge and info on the scene and hopefully the will chime in for you.

As to my impressions, the strip clubs open around 7 or at least Good Time does. There is another club directly across the street, can't remember the name.

I did not go into that club, was short of time.

There is a map posted by a member down a few post, it lists clubs, bars and restos and areas where SW hang out.

Beware of taxi drivers. Or at least the ones at the airport, the bastards try to charge me anywhere from $17-30 US to go my hotel, less than 3 km away.

Luckily my arranged ride from my hotel (Hotel X) showed up. We used this guy for travels within the city the night before our flight, round trip to the malcon and me to the strip clubs cost about $20 including the tip and he waited at Malecon while we had dinner.

I think if its poon you are chasing, Costa Rica is easier with lots of options for daytime within a walkable area.

I think there are opportunities there in Managua, but its just not as easy to get to, and or work up.

If you are white, expect to pay a white tax at the clubs, well maybe if you are fluent in Spanish you might do better.

Like I said in my post, if I am ever back there will delve into the scene more, but I would not make a trip just to monger there.

Thanks for posting Special Ed. I guess I don't just pick a destination for mongering reasons alone although I'd be disappointed if I couldn't make that a reasonably successful element of the trip. There are elements that seem challenging. Being a pasty whitey, it looks like I'llhave to be a hard ass due to the special treatment on pricing. Wherever I look, that factor keeps coming up.

The lack of street names. Sounds insane! Still I guess its all part of a rich tapestry. And I do like to visit places that are different. I suppose if I can negotiate hard and find a driver, it will make life easier. I have an aversion to paying above the odds so if mongering proves to be a waste of time, I'll spend more time on other touristy stuff instead.

I would of liked more time to really get a feel for the city, but just didn't plan the trip out well. (traveling with others.).

For sure go to Malcon, I really enjoyed our visit there. Looks like it would be a fun place to kill time on the weekends.

Some good looking women in Managua, but lots of short, chunky ones as well.

I found the locals friendly and quick to smile.

The malecon is the walk along the lake.

When we were there the lake was windy, the water rough and overcast, not very pretty. I hope your days are sunny.

You can find lots of not so chunky chicas around.

You can find them in the day time.Ok, I guess I was just unlucky then. I tried up by parque de la paz but no joy. Then along by the casinos, I came across 2 but they were trannies. The irony was that they were better looking than the bar girls. As regards fenix, I've already bought a girl the 11 dollar drink. US $10 required on entry at the airport. Got a claro sim at the kiosk at airport. Which has proven invaluable. $13 for 1 GB data over 15 days if you have an. Unlocked phone. Great for Google maps / translate and basic internet access on the go.

Hotel quoted $15 for taxi from airport. Picked up my bags and walked out to the highway and flagged a cab down for 8 dollars (still more than locals will pay but I had baggage and wanted to get settled). Got to Hotel and then started out on foot. Taxi to Fenix (thanks for the map. Their addressing system is bonkers and it makes it so much easier to show them the map / directions). It was early and I was struggling with the damned humidity so an airconned Fenix was welcome. There were just 2 girls on. They were OK (as I was to find later on, they were good by comparison elsewhere). US $11 for a chica drink whereas cover and my own drinks were reasonable. $33 for 30 mins. If they had a more reasonable chica drink policy, I'd have hung out there every evening.

Moved on to Bar Azul, Bar La Vida en Rosa & El Gato. Beer was cheap. There was no cover but the very same intrinsic problem with all of them; The girls are all 'chunkies'. Can't understand it. Surely there have to be a few good looking girls they can find?

There were maybe 3/4 I could see myself screwing but either I couldn'tget their attention or they were 'engaged' with other customers. In the case of El Gato, they have 2/3 thin and reasonably attractive girls but their attitude sucks.

Went to these places a few times (not having any idea of an alternative plan). Drank back few cold Tona's and watched my surroundings. Felt mostat home in Rosa. It's big and spacious. So things have improved somewhat since I last posted. I forgot to mention that I went to Cueta &;Good Time on the first evening. It seemed that I arrived early for both as nobody there. Good Time seemed to have overcharged me and I didn't really have a 'good time'. Went across the road to Cueta and again, nobody else there. Was in a faul mood at that stage. Just had a beer and left.

Went back to Cueta more recently and bad a great time. Chica drinks were reasonable and I bought plenty of them (although I believe they still overcharged but iI wasn't going to spoil things by getting into another argument over a few dollars.

Got taxi home and there was a tasty fine thing in the back seat giving me the 'fuck me' eyes. In my best (very) pidgeon Spanish, I managed to engage and we hooked up.

What I mean by old town is in 1972 they had a 6. 2 earthquake instead of rebuilding that part of town they built South.

That part is closer to the lake. The area can get a little edgy at night.

I would recommend staying in the center of the two areas, around Pista Juan Pablo II.

From the street Spa Sobell looks like a regular house. You enter through a hair cutting salon. You go through the salon and it opens into a nice, modern bar with a few couches and tables. On a Saturday afternoon there were 3-4 girls there, all of which were nicely attractive. I asked Suli to have a drink with me. She was very cute, nice body, pretty face, and had a very pleasant personality (speaks only Spanish). I ask the price for one hour and she quotes US $120. I laughed and said there was no way I would pay that for an hour in Managua. We haggled just a bit, I was horny, and settled on $80. We then went to a room which was quite large, very modern and clean, with a couch and. One of those damn massage tables! Did I mention I hate those fucking massage tables? Was in Managua in early December. Info on this board is rather outdated. So I will contribute.

Hotel:

I stayed in Hotel Yolania. Which is Pablo's place. The price was $40 a night. No change from a post on this long time ago. I would avoid this hotel for a few reasons. The hotel is rather old and run down. When I was there, there was no internet and no attempt to fix the wifi. One night there was also no water, which means no shower and can't flush the toilet. No attempt was made to clean the room and no towel provided on day 2. Pablo is a nice guy, speaks english, but doesn't seem to be in the hotel most of the time. Airport pick up was $15.

Getting Around:

Managua is a shit hole. It is large and you can not walk around. There are no street names so maps are not very helpful. The only option is taxi, which is also expensive. For example a trip would cost 50-60 Cordoba. And this is after flagging several taxis on the street and they all stuck to this price. It really should be quarter of this price. So if you go out at night, you need a taxi. A young taxi driver pablo called took me around. Nothing to do be pablo, he is a nice guy, but this 22 yrs old driver was a scam. For 2. 5 hours of work he claimed he worked for 4 hours and asked me for 2000 Cordobas. I told him to fuck off and in the end gave him 1000.

Girls:

They are also expensive. As mentioned in the report, Good Times is $100 for 30 min. Gringo price. The girls were hot either. Mostly are chubby with thunder legs. Entrance was 150 Cordoba. Next went to Caribean Morean. Was completedly dead on Saturday night. No girls, just the bartender. Fenix is the best one. Many girls. About 2 that are doable. I went there twice. Again $33 for 30 min is local price. You pay $60 for 30 min gringo price. The girls are pros and also noobs. They somehow expect you to pay for their drink without even attempting small talk. In Thailand at least they "pretend" they enjoy your company and drink with you. Drinks were 300 Cordoba each. One girl was awesome. The other I took was star fish. With 15 min gone the guy knocks on the door to remind the girl the time that we have gone half way. She then claimed 30 min is finished. You can not ask a local how to get to an address because with no street signs even they do not know the streets. You have to name something very unique like a park, museum, popular restaurant or disco, mall, court house, hospital, etc. Another way is to name 2 things such as McDonalds in Bario XYZ.

Metro Centro Mall:

This is either the largest or second largest mall behind Galleria (I never got there). The stores were air conditioned but the center main walk way was non-aircon and neither was the food court. I heard there are very few foreigners that stay in Managua so the women will flock to you. Bullshit! Very few foreigners at all. Mostly hippie backpackers types that stay a few days and move on and are not in the hunt. I felt invisible. It was said in the postings to try in front of the (Justice Department?) with the fountains across the street from Luis Alfonso Velasquez Park. Never saw any women.

Luis Alfonso Velasquez Park was also mentioned for women. I went twice in the afternoon for 2 hours each trip and tried during the night 3 times for 2 hours each trip. Only saw 5 girls available and did not want. Rate them all 4's. I saw 2 other foreigners looking at the park who walked past me 3 times so I asked them what they had found. The one guy said he was in Managua 7 years ago for 3 months working and the girls were so easy but now so difficult to find. He said the girls at Plaza 101 disco spoke more English than most places but were asking $70+. Not sure ST or LT.

The Park was huge with basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, pool closed because building a new one, roller skating area, BMX bike trick area, all kinds of things for the kids to play on, and benches everywhere to watch people walk past, plus seating around all the courts. Best park I have seen for things to do. World class.

Women:

So hard for me to find the 18-26 year olds (my target market) because the 20 years old had 30 year old bodies and the 30 year olds had 40 year old bodies. Picture a soft serve ice cream cone. Where the ice cream meets the cone is their waist. The women have a fat ass with narrow (not thin) legs. Now for the top half. With the top half you have to decide if you want 2, 3, or 4 rolls of fat. Very few thin women. If you find a thin woman then she usually has an A or be cup breast. Very few exceptions.

Since most the women are fat they do not wear tight clothes or sexy clothes to show their cleavage like a tank top even though it is hot outside. Mostly T-shirts.

Just returned from 5 days in nicaragua. Nice country I enjoyed the trip. Definitely worth seeing.

For mongering, I'd look elsewhere.

Leon - 100% dry. Your best bet would be finding a loose backpacker.

Fenix: We went to Fenix during the day on Monday and there were 4 girls, all doable. We each went back with one. It was $3 to enter which included a tona. Girl was $60. Cueto. I am sure each night is different. I highly would recommend checking both places before making your choice. Cueto doesn't show up on Google maps but it's impossible to miss, it's across a 1 lane road from good time. Maybe a 20 foot walk. Our cab initially dropped us off here because it's the first one you see. Went inside, it's the least nice of the 3 that's for sure. Same $3 entry as Fenix. Included a beer. There were 10 or so women, most huddled at tables with each other. 2-3 guys. The quality range was wild here but we found a couple that looked good. They wanted 60 which was more in line with what I'm willing to spend. Took one back, the rooms are of far lower quality than Fenix. Bed was very old and looked worn. Bathroom gross, very little space beyond that. Bright hospital like lights and no music or mirrors. The girl was fine. Did the job.

Anyone visiting, in short granada and Leon are amazing cities, a lot of fun and very worth visiting. We met many people and had a nice night out with two locals from tinder in granada. If you are going to nicaragua you'll spend your tourist time in these cities but expect no mongering at all. If you want anything like that you'll need to get it for free or go to one of the places in Managua.

The spots in Managua were OK but lacked far below most others I've seen in latin America. I'd call this place a big avoid for mongering but if you are into traveling and seeing places it was a great country with great people and a lot to see and do. Very inexpensive as well.

Thanks for the trip report-would like to know the touristy places for a short 3-4 day itinerary with a night in Managua at front or tail end of the trip. Feel free to PM please.I'd go straight to Leon when you arrive, take the bus from uca, it's direct and costs about $2. Try and get a good seat. Ride is 1:30 but no stops so it's as fast as a cab would be at a fraction of the cost. Spend a day in Leon, that's all you need, organize a day trip to one of the volcanos, cerro Negro for sand boarding is fun. We paid $40 each for a private tour.

Do a night out there, the nightlife is solid and the city is safe. Next day take a bus back to uca in Managua. From there you can either take another, much lower quality bus to granada for $1 or a cab for $25 ish. We did bus there and cab back. The bus is very crowded and makes frequent stops with no ac. It is far worse than the Leon bus. Granada is a beautiful city but you'll only need a day (really just 2-3 hours and you've seen everything). You can have one day to do a finger island tour in the morning and see masaya volcano in the evening (very cool you can see the lava if you go at night) . From here I'd decide if you want one more day in granada or if you prefer get to the mongering. If you want hookers you'll have to go to Managua to Fenix, cueto or good time. There is little worth seeing in Managua. The area near the water is nice enough to walk around, the defense building is very cool.

The Park was huge with basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, pool closed because building a new one, roller skating area, BMX bike trick area, all kinds of things for the kids to play on, and benches everywhere to watch people walk past, plus seating around all the courts...Thanks for the great report and funny as hell! Stayed in Managua 26 days. Hated it by day 5. Teeth were bad so had them pulled to get dentures. Since I could not speak Spanish talking was useless for me anyways. I am short, mid-40's, clean cut, with a slight tummy.

You are right about foreigners. Take away the SJDS crowd and the religious well diggers and school builders there are not many tourists out and about. Not surprising given the few all inclusive resorts, the lack of English everywhere and the difficulty getting around as a gringo without a car and / or driver.

The internet is creating more and more trolls that read and post about "facts" without actual experience. Look at forums for Pattaya with people with 1000 posts and have yet to go. How can you have even 2 posts if you've never been? Sheesh.

Was planning to spend few days touring Nicaragua but based on reports here, online research, whatsapping contacts from local ads canceling the plan. I know this has been discussed at length in virtually every forum -the relationship between the GDP and chica rates of a given and esp a poor country but Nicaragua is on the edges of the bell curve given how skewed the prices are. I am using my burner Costa Rica phone number to contact and using strictly Spanish and being quoted up to $200 (USD) for an hour! I don't pay that in Western Europe, let alone in dumpy Managua.

Will have to visit Nicaragua another time for strictly Touristy purposes.

While I know that Colombia and Costa Rica are much better and certainly easier monger destinations, my buddy insists that our next trip be Nicaragua.

Looking for ideas on where to spend 5 days there, with a combination of beach and beauties. Maybe 2 nights Managua and 2 San Juan Del Sur. In Colombia and CR it's easy to rent a great private house and stock it with loving locals, but how do you do that in Nicaragua?

(Why Managua? It is challenging for an experienced monger who is familiar with the town to have a good time at a reasonable cost. You will pay more, for substandard product, while simultaneously working very hard to find it in a dangerous environment.)

3. I am going to do a little of all the options. Are most venues generally safe. (Once you are inside, the establishment will keep you safe. The distance between your hotel lobby and the establishment is the danger zone.)

What is the best way to pickup SW (walk cab)? (This is dangerous. Avoid it. A street walker has nothing to lose. You do. She could be a thief, glue sniffer, or less-than-mature. The local cops have squelched this option a decade ago. Even if she is not, imagine getting stopped by the cops, and being shaken down because they say she is less-than-mature. Local law says considers a teenage single mother to be equivalent to an emancipated minor and adult, so there is a legal loophole there, but it will NOT be applied to you.

There is a deeper danger. Nicaragua's government is not friendly to foreigners, especially westerners, and hates the U.S.. They would love to lock up an "evil gringo sex tourist" and throw away the key.

(Play it safe and save yourself some hassles. Use any of the 4 star hotels on Carretera Masaya, near the Pope John Paul II Avenue and rotunda, and the Metrocentro shopping mall. The area is not safe - no place in Managua is safe for a lone foreigner at night - but it is safer. There are three strip clubs with cabins along Masaya. The one across the street from the mall/4-star hotel is expensive, but the talent is OK. I have gone there and checked the place out without paying the outrageous entry fee by saying I was "scouting a location for a bachelor party that weekend for my 10 of my American friends." There is another, a part of the Central American chain with a name like "Elite" or something like that, which is a little less expensive, and the talent is also OK. Then, up the hill from there, about another 5 minute walk, is a place called "Solid Gold", which is more geared to the local market and reasonably priced, but you will be looking for the 2, and if you are lucky, 3 diamonds in the rough among the substandard talent. Shop at the mall - which has a grocery store - and you can stay in the less expensive hotels and bed/breakfasts in the neighborhood - recommend the Brandt, and use Carretera Masaya as your lifeline, but straying too far away from that neighborhood is like sending a boy scout on a commando mission.)

(I recommend it. I fly it regularly, but expect "acceptable" service for a great price. I pay the extra for an exit row seat to get leg room, I travel light so as not to pay for check in bags - or be hassled by waiting for them -, and I bring my own snacks/entertainment/inflatable pillow to overcome their bare minimum seats. I signed up for their credit card, use it for almost everything, and get a free flight every year. The low prices and free flight allow me to take trips 5 times a year versus only 2-3 times a year. Unlike some airline travel snobs, I just can't think up things to complain about for what amounts to a 3 hours bus ride that is taking me to paradise. An aspirin for the aches and stiffness, a half sleeping pill for a nap, a good book or magazine to read, and before I know it I've arrived, and the airport experience does not change no matter what airline I flew in. And making people pay for their overhead bags really disciplines even the worst third world passengers, so off boarding is not the Tijuana public bus experience.)

In Nicaragua now for last 48 hours or so and reporting live while waiting for my departing flight.

Despite my own apprehensions as mentioned in my last post on this forum, I found myself in Nicaragua anyways. I had a US airline flight voucher expiring at the end of this month and I was to be in States for business so decided to come 4 days earlier and headed to Nicaragua first after landing in Texas.

Day 1 - arrived in MGA late at night, not sure about the passport control system -they were taking some passports back to athat room and coming back to the kiosk. They took mine to the back room but not of the guy that was in front of me in the line. Perhaps they do that based on Passport issuing country? Anyhow, paid USD 10 and was on my way to the taxi touts. Negotiated $25 to hotel Brandts (based on Loso's report chose the hotel). I could have negotiated down to $20 but it was past 23:00 and after a long transatlantic flight didn't feel like fighting over another $5.

As with previous trips, had couple whatsapp contacts lined up and was hoping one would come through. Some girl claiming to be 22 was eager to meet for USD 50 which from my point of view is exorbitant for Nicaragua but just like the taxi deal, didn't have energy to bargain hard and went along with it. The girl sent me some pictures, more of a GND look and obviously with a kid as with any other subsequent girl you are likely to shag in Managua. While I was making small talk with taxi guy and scoping him out as my potential driver for next 48 hours, he saw the picture of the girl on my phone and was immediately offering to take me to 'places'. I played dumb and asked him to elaborate and he went down the standard Managua list -Good Times, Fenix, Caribean etc. He also offered to call his contacts and see if anyone can come over to my hotel. I think he was BSing because neither that night or the next two nights any of his so called contacts even returned his calls or messages.

So back to me in taxi, chatting up with this chica on whatsapp who is eager to come to the hotel despite it was getting close to mid night. I said be at the hotel by half past mid night -which I was sure in Nicaragua would mean 1 AM or 2 AM and would still be considered as being 'a tiempo' or on time. In the meanwhile negotiated with the taxi driver to drive me the next day to touristy places and at night hit the list of Managua places.

Fortunately chica was only 30 minutes late, shows up and asks me to pay the taxi. I go out with her and pay the taxi about $4. After a long day and lot of bad traffic arrived back in MGA around 6 PM. The plan was to have my driver pick me up again around 19:30 and we'd go fishing. After dinner the first place we hit was Caribbean Morena. The building is still green and is directly across the 'CECA Electrónica' store which is on google map on Calle Principal Altamira. This is where the excitement of discovering a new chica spot ended -hardly 3 or 4 bored looking chicas at Caribean. Talked to couple of girls from Bluefields and both spoke good English. I however didn't find their faces attractive although one had a nice behind that I'd wouldn't have minded tapping. Waited half an hour for any more talent to show up but no luck and after two beers decided to leave.

Next stop La Vida en Rose -this is on google map and I asked my driver to take me there as he was insisting on taking me to Good Times. Knowing the pricing structure at Good Time, I wasn't too keen to head there just yet. La Vida was hopping and there was hardly any place to sit. Easily I was the only foreigner in the place. Lot of chicas but the place was gordita central. Again very disappointing in the selection and there was line out the door where the back rooms are. We were seated towards the side where the girls enter when they show up for work. Lo and behold, this petite girl enters the building and in no time we grab her and bring her to our table. Without wasting any time, headed to the back rooms. I think it was either 300 or 400 Cordobas for 20 minutes. Room was no Ritz, I didn't take my shoes off. The girl was reluctant, 20 and business like but once I initiated things, she got more relaxed. Overall had an ok session, didn't negotiate extras or BB but I am sure it is possible. Got her number but their shift ends at 2 AM or even later on weekends so I knew it won't be practical to meet her outside the premises.

Had another beer and chilled, talked to few girls, some mellow and some not so mellow but all shared one trait- gorditas. Just when we decided to leave a hot 20 year old or so girl in daisy dukes enters the building but before she could even sit down, she was accosted by a group of three or four rather drunk guys. Day 3 -final day in Nicaragua. During the day went to Leon and plan was to hit rest of the to do list in the evening. This time started out at Fenix. Nice building but that's where the good part ends. I haven't seen this many fat young girls clustered around me with layers of belly fat jiggling north south east and west as they ran towards me in their high heels. Jesus Christ! Before one could even sit down, they are hounding customers for beers. Had to call the manager to get rid of them. Not a single do able chica in the place. Had one beer and left.

Headed to Good Time -somewhat of a talent there but didn't see any hard bodies I was hoping for given how my driver had been raving about Good Times for last 2 days. Saw a couple of prospects but they wanted USD 130-150, thanks but no gracias. Had a beer and left.

It was still around mid night -texted the chica from the first night but message was showing as un delivered so either she had no phone credit or changed the number. I called it a night and so ended a ho hum 3 night Nicaragua stay.

To summarize -great place for colonial towns, nature, lakes and volcanoes sightseeing. I am adding nothing new here, such has been the experience of others in previous posts. If you go to Nicaragua strictly for chicas, you are bound to be disappointed unless you have more than just 3 days and are fluent in Spanish. I am sure someone with more time and Spanish, can easily pull a chica out of the clubs. My problem was most of the girls in clubs were overweight and virtually all had 1-3 kids by the time they are 21. Oh well.

P.S: While cleaning my phone of MGA contacts I accidentally deleted my driver's contact also. He goes by Jesus and I found him outside the arrival terminal past the first wave of taxi touts.

First, Managua is the safest capital city in Central America. Violent crime is quite low. Reality is no where near what is being stated herein.

The concept of 'safety' is relative to what's your definition of safe is or what your prior experiences are. Read through any forum on this board and the you will see same guidelines on how to be 'safe'.

-Don't flash your latest Christmas gift, Rolex or iPhone X on the street. You can probably get away with that in parts of Panama or Costa Rica but (likely) not in rest of Central America.

-Don't wear flashy brand name Lacoste or Cole Haan logo shoes. You get the idea.

-Don't trust any random stranger on the street offering you help.

-Don't count money on the street, be careful using ATMs and do it while you take a trusted taxi driver to the ATM so you aren't caught walking after taking cash out.

-Don't look at google map on your phone in the middle of the street. Walk into any shop, store or restaurant and do that inside or preferably in the bathroom.

-Don't order open top drinks or accept drinks from anyone. Even better, stop at one drink. If drunk and out late and alone -you are begging for trouble.

-Respect their women, culture and people. Don't talk religion, politics or morality to poor folks- save that discussion for your buddies back home.

-And most importantly, follow your instincts.

You have to understand that most of the people on this forum do what they do because a part of us like the element of risk. We know the worst case outcome and yet we continue to put ourselves at 'risk' to seek the reward. You will have to find your own equilibrium or breaking point. Asking the question on the board how 'safe' a place is won't answer that question. Only experience will.

I'd actually recommend Medellíand. Just do a bit of homework ahead of time. There are many great day Casas where you can get a great looking girl 8+ for about $15 usd. I did buy property last year. So far my place has worked out well and I don't regret it. Part of the reason is that I only used "set on fire money" and because the prices were so low I could do that. There is some geopolitical risk there with total control of the country now secured by the leader. That is sad because it was so close to a more stable country but that is just the risk you have to be able to live with. I don't feel there is risk to have my property expropriated. Petty local government corruption feels up though. Prices are still low. In 7 years I will either look like a genius or an idiot.

A couple of things. If you do buy there you need to use a reputable realtor and lawyer. That whole "make sure the title is clean" is NOT a formality there. Granada and the beach properties are nice. Managua is where the action is but a whole. I stick to SA or picking up locals and that is very doable. Nicaraguans are super nice generally. The country is really geographically diverse and I look forward to exploring it at my leisure. I also surf so my place in an essentially empty good to great surf spot is a gift that will keep in giving. Even in the lousy environment my place will break even this year. Instill hope to buy a commentary place in Granada but not until either the current business pays for it or the risk goes down.

With some strong negotiating maybe you could get as low as $70 but then it depends on how many drinks you buy for the girl ($10 each) because she gets a commission for every drink you buy for her. And some girls will quickly ask you to buy them a double shot and before you know it you spend $40 just for her drinks! After drinks for you and your lady, plus the room / girl you'll pay $120-$140 (accounting for a tip or two).

Managua is a large spread-out city. For the most part, the city was rather dirty. Trash and garbage seemed to be part of the scenery. The cleanest part of the city was in a small tourist area near the Santiago Cathedral and Paseo Xoloylan. The city was also clean around the large hotels and shopping malls.

According to Wikipedia, "Managua is the capital and largest city of Nicaragua, and one of the largest cities in Central America. Located on the shores of Lake Managua, the city had an estimated population of 1,055,247 as of 2020, and a population of 1,401,687 in its metropolitan area. The city also serves as the seat of Managua Department. ".

Why Managua?

I returned to Managua because I am running out of places to visit in Latin America. The last time I was there was in January 2012 and now I am revisiting the country in order to see what has changed since pinche covid!

Travel Insurance:

The SquareMouth web-site gave me over 50 quotes from over 50 different companies. I chose Trawick from National Mutual. It was for 5-days and cost $127.

All the money I quote is in Cordoba, unless you see the dollar sign.

I used CBX from Otay to the Tijuana airport and back. CBX round trip was around 46 bucks. CBX prices are seasonal. They have a low season, regular season, and high season. I crossed during the regular season.

After clearing immigration at the Tijuana airport, I relaxed in the lounge for some chow and adult beverages. Returning, there was a VIP lounge after clearing security on the second floor.

The VIP lounge was nothing less than weird. It cost $35, came with 2 drinks, and a crappy sandwich. At the front desk, they took my passport and checked me in. For whatever reason, they said they would bring my passport back to me in the near future. They returned my passport and I asked, WTF? The woman spoke English, but I still did not understand the reason they held my passport.

Then she gave me an exit slip, another WTF? I had to present that slip to the woman just outside the VIP entrance and she asked to see my passport! At that point I was pissed! I asked, "Why do you need to see my passport? Are you an immigration agent?" She did not say a damn thing, gave my passport back, and I moved on to my gate. The only upside was they served Flor de Cana 12 year Rum and the bartender was not counting drinks.

Flight:

I flew Aeromexico round-trip to Managua. Each way, there was a layover in Mexico City. Beware of layover times at MEX! Make sure you have at least 1. 5 or 2 hours layover between flights at that airport! I cannot stress that enough. Between the four flights, three of them were delayed; pinche pathetic!

Immigration:

I did my best to research this topic before I left. The Aeromexico and other websites keep referring me to the Ministry of Interior website:

According to Aeromexico, that was the site where I had to fill-out the immigration form. I filled out the form and after a week, my approval was still, "In Process. " Turns out, I did not need the damn form to enter the country!

Customs:

The customs form was provided by Aeromexico during my flight. I needed one to enter and another to leave. Thus, I took two forms from the flight attendant. I could not find the form online; maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

Tourist card:

I bought the tourist card while going through immigration. It cost $10 bucks.

Hotel:

I stayed at the Intercontinental at Metrocentro Mall. The hotel was outstanding! My room, the service, and location were top-notched. Was the hotel chica friendly? Yes, I had one of the bar chicas meet me in the hotel and an escort from Wanuncios which I greeted in front of the hotel.

Communication:

I have the T-Mobile Go5 GPlus55 plan; no worries whatsoever.

Money:

I use the Oanda web-site whenever I travel. The currency in Managua is Cordoba. When I looked at the exchange rate online, it was 36.30 to one US dollar. First off, the US dollar is widely used in Managua. Either way, I brought some cash with me. At the airport I withdraw some Cordobas; just in case. The rate was 30.78. Plus, I did withdraw Cordobas at an ATM in the mall; the rate was 36 c for 1 dollar. My advice would be to only use US dollars; so much easier!

Transportation:

My trip from the airport to my hotel cost $30 US. Oscar brought me back to the airport and I paid him $30 US as well. It was around 30 minutes each way. Speaking of Oscar, he was one of the hotel's taxis and I hired him for a couple of days. I paid him an hourly rate.

First and foremost, there were no Ubers in Managua. They have another company called Ray. Ray has an app and I downloaded the app before I left. I did not trust the app enough to provide my credit card number, so I just paid cash each time. I used the service several times and had no issues.

I also used a few taxis during my stay. None of them were metered and the prices were reasonable. Another note: They all asked for Cordobas as payment. I did not ask about using dollars as payment because I was only carrying twenty-dollar notes. With the taxis, I would recommend having some Cordobas, but in smaller notes.

Locals:

I found the locals were overall very friendly. The locals seemed pretty laid back, which I found in conflict with the high crime / murder rate in the city. But I was not there long enough to really judge the people or city. But the people I did have contact with, seemed quite warm and friendly.

Spanish:

During my stay, I heard very little English, which included in the hotel, restaurants, and Rays / taxis. If you really want to have more fun when traveling in Latin America, you might want to step up your Spanish game.

I did a lot of research before I left and here are my thoughts on the food scene:

Cocina Haydee – Excellent.

Factory Steak – Excellent.

The Market – Very good.

Overall, the food was pretty damn good. I only saw a few street food venders during my romp.

In each club / bar, I asked several questions and did my best to write the answers on my trusty note pad. Thus, if I am wrong with any of my notes, feel free to chime in with the correct information. I wrote down the prices of the cheapest beer and ficha.

Club: Fenix.

Cover: 100/ included one beer.

Beer: 100 (they only serve beer).

Ficha: Not sure.

Comments: I stopped in Fenix at 6 pm on Thursday. It looked like a club on steroids. The decor was off the hook! It was not like I remembered in 2012. That day, there was only one chica available, so I decided to return the next night; Friday.

I returned on Friday evening at 10:30. There were 3 chicas available and I chose the tiny dark-skinned hottie. We went to a large room that was completely covered with mirrors and had a rusty dance pole (ouch). We stripped down to bare metal, put on our slippers, and headed to the decrepit shower. At one point in the shower, I lost one of my slippers. As a result, I slipped on the floor and almost went down for the count; my hottie saved me! It was a great hour!

Club: Solid Gold.

Comments: This was a smaller club. I was told by one of the chicas the club opens at 7 and normally has 8 chicas. However, most of the chicas have gringo clients and they pick up the chicas for TLN by 9. In my honest opinion; skip this place.

Comments: Getting to this club was not an easy task. There was construction surrounding the place and the drivers had issues with their navigation skills. When I went Thursday evening, the place had a great line-up. I did remember this club because of the fire pole entrance to the stage. I fell in love with 2 chicas, we chatted and drank, and then I decided to leave. I did regret not spending more time with one particular chica. I just figured I would return Friday night and spend time with her then.

That did not happen! Of course she was not there! The club had less than half of the chicas available. I chatted with the bar tendering chica and she explained that many chicas returned home to their families because of Semana Santa. At that point, I decided to have a couple of drinks with bar tendering chica; she was a hoot!

Club: Diamond.

Beer: $6.

Comments: This was a large nice club that was across the street from my hotel. I had a good looking chica attack my old ass as soon as I walked in the place; we became good buddies. I wanted to take her up to the room, but that was until she told me she wanted to spend time with me in my hotel the next afternoon. She followed through and spent more than two hours with me; the cost was $150. As far as the club, I really liked the place.

Bars:

Bar: Porkys King.

Beer: They only served beer and it was quite cheap. I forgot the price.

Ficha: Same price as the beers.

Sex: $8 for 20 minutes and $26 for one hour. Apparently, they suck at math.

Comments: This was a local down and dirty bar; I enjoyed the place. Most of the chicas were chunky and I knew all of them would fail the weight test; I passed on the sex stuff because I was scared!.

Beer: I forgot to write it down, but everything was cheap.

Comments: This was a large local bar. The chicas and the staff were quite friendly. As soon as I walked in the place, I saw a chica with a great smile; hence, she became my date for that evening or at least for 30 minutes. I recommend the place.

Night / Time: Saturday /12:30.

Comments: For whatever reason, Oscar thought it would be a great idea to bring my white pasty ass inside a black club. Hell, I even paid a cover charge, which I forgot the price. So, we went in, found a table upstairs, and had an adult beverage. Shortly thereafter, we bailed.

There were more down & dirty bars that I wanted to explore, but I ran out of time. I love those places!

Massage:

Place: Spa Sobell.

Beer: 100.

Ficha: 100.

Sex: $120 for 1 hour.

Quality of Chicas: Good to hot.

Night / Time: Thursday /3:30 pm.

Comments: The place looked like a regular house. It was a hair salon in the front part of this house, but after you past through the salon, there was a bar and lounge in the back half. I started chatting with a tall hottie and was surprised that her drink cost the same as mine. Again, I fell in love, thus, I needed to spend more time with her; but in the room of course.

Place: Spa Haren (Minerva).

Beer: Never asked.

Ficha: Never asked.

Sex: $150 for 1 hour.

On Site: Yes.

Quality of Chicas: Good to hot.

Night / Time: Saturday /3:30 pm.

Comments: Oscar introduced me to this place. There was a sign on the red brick wall in front of the building that said, "g-infinily NAILS STUDIO. " The place did not seem to have any lounge; maybe I missed it. They brought me to a massage room and 1 by 1, each chica came in the room and introduced themselves. Out of the 8 chicas, I wanted at least 5 of them. I struggled, but chose one of the hotties. I was a good experience!

Street Girls:

Oscar told me the street girl action was limited because of the government. I asked him about two areas: On Carretera Masaya between the front of Plaza International and Telcor. The other location was on Carretera Norte in front of the Presidential Palace.

Oscar agreed on the two areas, but said there was very little action. I did not have the time see the areas, so, I am not really sure. Please chime in if you have more information.

Escorts:

I only used Wanuncios during my romp. Because I am an old dumb bastard, it took me some time to figure out how to contact the escorts. Once I did, I was good to go!

I contacted several, but only got a response from three. I always ask for one hour and thirty minutes because it takes me awhile to take off and put back on my clothes. The responses range from $100 to $200. I liked the chica that offered me $120 because she continuously stayed in contact and we made a date for Saturday afternoon. It all went well!

Final thoughts on Managua:

It was a seeking putas and eating good food trip. I thought the city was quite safe and I never felt threaten in any manner. But then again, I did not walk around the city at night. Would I ever return to Managua? Nah, two times was quite enough. Overall, I had a great time! Would I recommend it to other mongers? Absolutely!
