Discussion of Toronto vs others as best city at reasonable rates for attractive adult companions.

Much agreement that Montreal and Toronto tops. However, like my experience in Montreal you really have to know French to really enjoy the best of Montreal companions at a frugal cost. For Hotel and rental car rates often shown in both dollars (I sometimes use Priceline but price shop a lot. Paid about $US350 for midsize 10 days from the airport.

Few reports of people being turned away, but plenty of hassle questions, and it has gotten worse in recent years.

One thing to realize, although it is being currently litigated, is that Canada recognizes fewer privacy rights than the USA Does. Canada simply takes the position that they have the right at Customs to go through your electronic devices and make you open what they demand. If you are Canadian and you refuse, you can be arrested (which generated the current court case). If you are a visitor and refused their request, they can just politely point you to the desk where they will help you book the next flight out. So scrub your electronic devices of texts and emails with escorts, and clear your web browsing history. And keep the damn electronic devices off while you are going through Customs. It is a 2012 article (like this one) detailing the famous case that would have made all prostitution decriminalized in Canada instead of only outcall being legal (prior to the court decision). The effective date of the court decision was delayed one year so that the legislature could choose to draft new laws if it chose to do so.

The legislature did in fact draft new laws, known legally as "C-36" and known informally for a short period of time as the Cyclone of Shit, which made it legal for someone to sell sex, but illegal to purchase it and illegal for most parties (brothel owners And escort service owners) to assist a person in the selling of sex or advertising. Fortunately, soon after the passage of this new law, the police departments of the three largest cities (Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver), which are surprisingly independent of the courts or the legislature, announced a priorotizatiin program whereby they acknowledged the existence of the new law but would focus on arresting parties involved with underaged prostitution, trafficked persons, and community nuisances (street prostitution and known brothels).

As a result, the escort scene remains largely unchanged and neither the court case you cited or the new law has any real effect. The advertising has been tamed down, and the location of incalls are not published online. The review boards re-registered in the Netherlands and a person must join to read the reviews. Life didn't change for most of us.

Had the court case decision gone into effect and had the legislature not acted, no one knows what the Canada scene would be like. Some would argue that it would have become more like Germany with "legal" megabrothels. That would probably have required the Canadian government to allow ladies to arrive from Cuba and Venezuela, though.

I am not convinced that the court case decision was a good thing. But it has limited relevancy now.

The case is now slated to be heard in early 2019 and has been whittled down to three specific issues relating to a third party involved in the transaction. As to whether a court would expand a ruling to cover other aspects of commercial sex, such as the purchase of it, remains to be seen. If the case is unsuccessful for the agency owners, it remains to be seen if large city police would pay any attention to it and change their current (non) enforcement policies. It is currently viewed, in my opinion, as an isolated little case involving rural Canada. Of course, if it works its way to the Supreme Court of Canada, they might issue an expansive ruling beyond what was charged in the case that would invalidate "C-36", which would likely result in the legislature taking up the issue again. Personally, I doubt that anyone in large cities such as Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver will like the results of legislative action any better than the current environment.
