This is something I am sure many (new to Tijuana) guys like myself have thought about:
How about some of our experienced members acting as general / medical / sexual / whatever tourist guides, for a reasonable fee.
Benefit for us newbies is gaining rapid knowledge / experience, and benefit for our senior members is they get to monetize their experience.
Sure, business might be limited, but still, together we will be serving a market segment that has been neglected.
This will also hopefully bring an end (or a sharp reduction) to threads such as 'I don't know anything, but want someone to tell me everything for free' threads.
I'd be glad to pay someone a reasonable fee to show me where to park on the US side near the trolley station, park the other side, good places to eat in Tijuana (for example senor pampas), places to shop, dental clinics, uber stops, etc, etc, you get the idea. This idea can be developed, ideally into a menu.
Many pick-up artists (PUA) do this, in multiple local and international locations; what's the difference here, well, first it is a bit more intimate / personal / private experience and secondly, we here on this forum are primarily interested in P4P.
Long term, I'd be glad if an experienced member could show me the ropes so I could move to Tijuana, whether on a temporary, semi-permanent or permanent basis.

The big yellow building corner O'Campo and Calle 4, combined garage and parts store.
That guy knows cars, speaks English, is an experienced mechanics, good with his hands. His rate is about $20 per hour. He won't cause more problems like the stupid jerks who charge $100 an hour in the US. He will change oil for 50 pesos labor. You can bring your own oil and filter.

I think this somewhat fits this thread. I found myself wanting a massage today, a legit massage. So I visited the Viva Mex on Revolucion. (It's across the street and just slightly south of the big casino. I've been there once before and I believe it is strictly legit.
Today, I drew Vanessa. Definitely one of the best massages I've ever had. I would highly recommend and I will repeat. She's not bad to look at either. But do not go in there expecting anything beyond a quality massage. $35 for 60 minutes. You can definitely find cheaper but I was thrilled with the value.

No, I would characterize it as heavy handed. She had to be worn out after 60 minutes. It was phenomenal. Thinking about it, I'm calling now for another appointment. I left a $15 tip. Not sure what's approrpiate. But that felt right.
Does she give a heavy handed massage? I hate when they give "relaxing" massages.

Well, alas, there is a bit of a menu at Viva Mex. I hoped to see Vanessa again for a phenomenal, legit massage. She does not work today. So I drew Aydhe, a modestly attractive therapist. She asked I been there before. "Yes, multiple times, most recently yesterday with Vanessa. " Right away, this was different. Face down, towel was gone. Massage was very good. Not quite as good as Vanessa but a very slight bit of teasing, I. E. Just slightly bumping against balls while face down, rubbing her breasts against my head while stretching, etc. Definitely could have been my wishful thinking so I kept my expectations low. Flipped and she tucked the towel, again just the slightest of hints. She moves to my left leg and "oops, sorry for touching you". She barely touched the head but now it was clear. She would have ignored the touch altogether it was so minor. I said "no, I like". She responds, "well, reception tells us not to touch." "I don't see reception in here." "OK, you give me nice tip?" "Si". Haha. Definitely think you have to play it right, name drop, and you might get lucky. Don't think there is anything more on the menu than HJ. But I was going to tip $20 for massage. I tipped her $40 & she was thrilled.
I would not recommend expecting more than a quality massage but some therapists may offer more in certain circumstances. Please be discreet because I do think she was honest about the reception. Aydhe works after 3 PM every day but Sat & Sun.
Review dental practice Tijuana 'I love my dentist'.

Introduction.
Looking for ways to get off the US dental system, decided to explore dental care available in Tijuana. After much research on the internet, narrowed down to six places. Out of the six, visited two so far, and here is the review for one of them. Luckily, currently not in urgent need of dental work, so performing due diligence.
Practice details:
All details can be found on their website, http://ilovemydentist.com.mx/, including location, hours, prices, personnel details, etc.
In-person visit:
Made an actual, in-person visit a few days ago.
Procedure: General examination, plus full set of x-rays.
Cost: US $40 + US $46 = US $86 (paid cash, without insurance). They do accept some US insurance, check to see what is applicable to you.
Time Spent: Perhaps two hours. Zero wait time. In fact, showed up early, and was taken right in.
Top three positives:
- Bona fide dental practice; first-rate facility, top-notch equipment.
- Everybody speaks English, the director actually spent time practicing in Boston, Mass.
- Walking distance from La Zona.
Top three negatives:
- Expensive; this is the most expensive dental practice in Tijuana.
- No pick-up / drop-off service from border.
- Some of the dentists are female (might not be an issue for some).
Recommendation:
Yes, would recommend.
Did receive a treatment plan, and will follow up accordingly.
Further, will be visiting later in the year for routine maintenance (cleaning, filling, etc.).

Made an actual, in-person visit a few days ago.
Procedure: General discussion.
Cost: Free.
Time Spent: Ten minutes.
Top three positives:
- Cost comparable to other practices in Tijuana.
- Staff speaks English, especially the dentist (Dr. Rodrigo).
- Walking distance from La Zona.
Top three negatives:
- Not all specialists in-house; E. G. , office will arrange for an endodontist if needed.
- No pick-up / drop-off service from border.
- Sparingly staffed, and appears to be a small facility.
Recommendation:
Yes, would recommend.

Cost: US $75 (paid cash, without insurance). They do accept some US insurance, check to see what applies to you.
Time Spent: Perhaps an hour. Zero wait time. In fact, showed up early, and was taken right in.
Top Three Positives:
- Equipment appears to be modern.
- Staff speaks English.
- Pick-up / drop-off shuttle service (did not utilize, though). Fifteen-minute walk from La Zona.
Top Three Negatives:
- Overall vibe; setup, examination area, personnel. Office manager had a snake oil salesman vibe.
- Had sent x-rays prior, but no one confirmed beforehand that new x-rays will need to be taken; was put on the spot right then right there; the office manager cited some 'Mexican law'. Good thing brought enough cash, or would've been a bad situation.
- Relatively inexperienced dentist.
Recommendation:
Neutral (can't say No, but definitely won't say Yes. Better practices out there).
(Will not visit ever again).
I recommend that the dentist you use have experience in working with your American insurance company.

Another dental practice that comes up frequently during online search.
Practice Details:
All details can be found on their website, www.mydentalbrush.com, including location, hours, prices, personnel details, etc.
In-person visit:
Made an actual, in-person visit a few days ago.
Procedure: General examination, plus full set of x-rays, plus dental photos, plus panoramic x-ray.
Cost: USD $65, of which USD $25 was for examination plus x-rays, and USD $40 was for panoramic x-ray (paid cash, without insurance). They do accept some US insurance, check to see what applies to you. (They accepted my insurance, but unfortunately I had run out of benefits for the year so had to pay).
Time Spent: Perhaps an hour. Fifteen minutes wait time. Did show up early, and was taken right in a lot sooner than actual appointment time.
Top Three Positives:
- Excellent logistics (stand-alone building with security at entrance, a large facility, several exam / treatment rooms). Further, this area (Plaza Viva Tijuana) has quite a few dental practices all right next to each other.
- Staff speaks English. Sales person very helpful throughout the appointment setup process.
- Walking distance from the border. If needed, they'll send a (uniformed) person to meet you at the border. Did not need it, was able to find the place easily, they had a large sign outside their building.
Top Three Negatives:
- Relatively inexperienced, female dentist. Idealist? Wanted me to spend USD $20,000. 00 on the list she came up with.
- Some of the equipment did seem to be a bit dated, but not archaic.
- Some of the staff (including the Salesman) in casual, civil dress, as opposed to being in uniform.
Recommendation:
Neutral (can't say 'No'; had an experienced dentist performed the examination, would've given a 'Yes'.

I had a toothache. It kept getting worse while my dentist waited for insurance approval to do a root canal, which I would have to pay a hefty copay. I check the Tijuana dental offices mentioned in this thread but they all quoted about the same prices, one even more expensive, than prices in California.
Liberty Dentistry is rated 4. 5 stars in Yelp. I sent in an inquiry via email and Abel at Liberty Dentistry called back. I made a proposal via email and they accepted. Let's just say it was a very good discount for a root canal and resin fill. Will provide specifics via PMs.
I drove down Friday afternoon for 1 PM appointment. They started on exam and Xrays immediately. Dr. Guervera seemed a warm and caring endodontist. His work was fast, precise, professional and confident with his dexterious hands, much more so compared to the slow and shaky women dentists I knew in the US. He took 3 rounds of Xrays in the process of a root canal, which my previous endodontist in the US skipped. The only pain was a quick jab when he injected anesthetics into the canal to kill the nerve. He even showed me the white nerve pulp he pulled out of the tooth.
Total time in his office was 2 hours, including half hour wait while he worked on another patient. I got out of his office by 3 PM with a numbed jaw but otherwise not in pain as bad as with other US dentists. Went out to dinner. Had no problem eating, chewing. Went to HK to chill, but the anesthetics dulled out my nerve sensitivity such that I could get erections but was unable to shoot. It would be better to party all night Friday, take dental appointments on Saturday morning then go home.
I was very skeptical of the quality of dental care in Mexico, but feel satisfied with the convenience, costs and quality of Dr. Guervera at Liberty. There was another dentist and only 2 other patients while I was there. The office girl looked pretty with long legs on high heels and bubble butt, which really helped resolving the fear of pain in the dentist chair hehe. The office is on Benito Juarez corner O Campo.

After the root canal, Liberty Dental gave me a prescription and sold a combo of antibiotics, anti pain and anti inflammation drug package for $30, lasting 1 week.
There was no pain, no inflammation and the Mexican antibiotics was very hard on the body. My throat and stomach were dry, tight and in pain. My libido went way down. Looks like the antibiotics was collecting bacteria and body fluid into the bladder for expulsion. Amoxiciline would do very well preventing infection in the mouth without those side effects. The pain can be very well eliminated by OTC Acetaminophen 500 MG.
So don't waste money and pain on this Mexican prescription.

Is Ambien available without prescription from pharmacies in Mexico?
My google search says it is not available OTC, but I wonder if a few dollars pharmacy surcharge is all that is needed.
I need it every night and cannot get enough in USA to support my travel schedule. Picking some up in Mexico would be an easy solution for me.

Picking some up in Mexico would be an easy solution for me.I don't know if Ambien is available in Mexico but chances are if it is you will need a mexican prescription. Not all doctors are allowed to write scripts for those types of narcotics. You would probably need to locate a doctor and pay the "surcharge" to him to write a script. Finding a doctor like that will take leg work.
If they don't have Ambien ask for a substitute and see what they show you.
I recommend Farmacia Gusher in Plaza Rio. They have everything and are a legit pharmacy.
If you bring Ambien back without a USA prescription and Border Patrol finds it you will be in a hot mess.

I can't remember how many nights I have spent at sleep clinics with wires attached to me and cameras pointed at me. For now, I'm stuck with Ambien or something worse.
I like your idea of asking a Mexican pharmacist for alternatives. In USA that question points me to Benidryl, which doesn't work for me.

I saw a Tijuana doctor who had an office near the border (near the since closed McDonalds at the border in Tijuana) back in 2005 or 2006. I told him of my insomnia and was hoping he would prescribe a strong drug. He prescribed the Mexican brand called Stilnox. It contains the active ingredient called Zolpidem, which I believe is the active ingredient in Ambien.
It was only a handful of Tijuana pharmacies that carried Stilnox, most pharmacies did not carry it. I obtained Stilnox and the Roma pharmacy on the corner of constitution and 4th street and the prescription was required.
I hesitated in responding to your post because my personal information on this subject happened a long time ago.

OP. Any drug they substitute for Ambien should be researched throughly. Tijuana doctors sometimes tend to use outdated practices, some don't have access to the medicines or technology that they need.

Monday noon took the car for some paint touch ups. Ruben Carillos on Calle 3rd corner Negrete has been doing good work for me charging very good prices. He has a couple sanders and a painters who can really repair body damages and make the car look like new.
I wanted just some quick touch ups on the 2 bumpers to sell the car, but Ruben wanted to repaint both bumpers so he can match the paint on rest of the car, and we agreed on a deal. His price to repair and paint averages $80 per panel for Spanish-speaking guys from SoCal, but he gave me much better deals. He's fun to kid around with when he's not goofing off screwing his sweetheart GF in LA Playa apartment hehe.
His guys sanded down and painted both bumpers with many layers of primer, repeat fine sandings, a few layers of paint then the final shiny clear coat, matching the metallic pearl paint on the car perfectly, all within 4 hours as promised. I just left the car to them and went back to La Zona to party. The other body shops on Calle 3rd wanted prices very close to SoCal's shops. Those further South on Negrete wanted even higher prices than SoCal, WTF?
I had body works done by other shops but this guy Carillos has done consistent high quality work with a few high-skill workers, recommended.

For the root canal, the dentist at Liberty sold an antibiotics that was extremely harsh on the stomach, and an Opioid pain killer for a slight, simple pain, that can be addictive and dangerous to the health.
I would stop buying and taking any medicines from Mexico. I would take the scripts from Mexico to my doctors and ask them to prescribe equivalent FDA-approved medicines.

As with anything related to health you need to speak to your doctor AND do your own research.
Sticking to well known pharmacy chains and well known drug laboratories is also a good safety precaution. I would never buy drugs at those little mom and pop establishments around centro. How do they have climate control during the summer months? They Don't.

Some pharmacies, especially in the tourist areas, will respond to offers of extra fees / higher costs, but you can't be sure of what you're getting.
Getting a prescription isn't difficult. The process takes a bit of leg-work at first, but smooths out after you establish your "connection. " (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.).
First, you need to find a doctor to write it. If you don't already know someone, just go into a pharmacy in or near CENTRO, and ask if they sell the drug you want. (Not all pharmacies are allowed to sell the higher schedule drugs, and none, that I know of, can legally sell opioids.) If they do, ask the pharmacy person if they know of a doctor who could write you a prescription for it. Don't be bashful, they know what's going on, and want to make the sale. Besides, you're not doing anything illegal.
The doctor will take a brief history, and ask you what is wrong. You don't need to go into long explanations, just give him a reason so that he can justify writing the prescription, I. E. "I'm going through a bad divorce, can you give me a prescription for Xanax?" or "I can't sleep at night, can you give me a prescription for Ambien?" Ask for what you want. He will tell you what Mexico offers, and whether it's available in Mexico. It's been over ten years since I wanted such a prescription, but the office visit used to run $25.
You're all set to make your purchase, now. Go back to the pharmacy your recommendation came from, and present your prescription. Make sure to save your copy of the prescription, leave the drugs in their factory packaging, and keep the prescription wherever you keep the drugs, I. E. In your pocket, in the glove compartment. You're legal in Mexico, even if the cops pull you over. They might try to convince you a trip to the judge is necessary unless you volunteer to pay the fine to them, but stand your ground (politely).
Atoyac Leather is THE custom leather shop in Tijuana. There used to be more during busier times but Hector and Brenda come from 3 generations of leather makers and remain the place to go. I have gone to them for work over a period of several years.
My two recent acquisitions are a Belstaff (copy) Diamond Quilted Gilet in leather w / ballistic nylon liner for $250 and a Sobaquera (holster wallet) $86.
They do great work. You bring in a picture and they copy it. Plain and simple.
A few tips though:
Hector speaks english. Brenda does not.
You must put a 50% deposit down for work.
Making a jacket pattern is DIFFICULT! To make things easier it is always a good idea to bring in an item that fits you well and let them copy the fit for you. Otherwise it can get crazy with people "seeing" things differently from each other.
* Piel De Vaca (Cow Leather) is the thickest leather which is usually what I ask for. Always ask to feel the leather before you agree to any work.

May 21,2018, the market opened at 19.8866 (I trade FOREX). Non of us can get the institutional rate but it serves a good reference. Anyone have any information on the retail rates being offered at San Ysidro or Otay Mesa?
The USD has reversed it's slide against the MXN. I never know why or where it's going to go next. I just trade what I see.

Non of us can get the institutional rate but it serves a good reference.If you use a debit card from an investment company (e.g. , Fidelity or Schwab), you can get those rates at an ATM in Tijuana. In many cases your investment company will return the ATM fees to you.
I've done this many times in Thailand with a Fidelity account. I have verified that my exchange rate matches XE.com and that my foreign ATM fees were returned to my account. It supposedly works the same in Mexico and I have no reason to not believe it.

As I mentioned in other threads, I struck out completely in the escort game this week. Some of those savings went to massage parlors to fill the time outside of HK or Chicago.
I was looking for legit massages but would never turn down happiness. Visited VivaMex twice. (On the East side of Revo). Both times I drew larger chicas. Not terribly attractive though not ugly. Both tremendous massages. Highly recommend. I do think the 2nd one was more than willing to provide happiness. Just didn't go for it. Was heading to HK after a shower.
Aztec. Went there for the first time. Walked from Ticuan to Aztec about 9 PM. Weird entrance. Paid for the hour, talked to a pretty good dude. Not sure who he is. Associated with the massage on the 3rd floor and the bar on 2nd floor. Gave me a free beer coupon. Massage was again fantastic. It was the only lady there. Older and a bit overweight. But great massage. Don't know if anything else can be had but I left feeling good.
Was going to try New Body but they're less massage, more chica friendly. Relatively expensive. And I couldn't get the nerve up to walk from Ticuan. If you know where it is, it's very close. Maybe 2 blocks. Can't justify a taxi but it's also not a well lit area. Always have a funny feeling there as the taxis take me back from HK.
Visited Mermaids. Not a bad deal cost-wise. Mix between brothel and massage. The massage was so-so. Extras were nice. Definitely fills a niche but kind of like a jack of all trade, master of none. Better options.
Almost pulled the trigger on a millerotico ad. But musas has me convinced most of those are bogus ads. Not something I want to deal with in a foreign country.

Some travelers to Tijuana might be looking for souvenirs and guayabera shirts make a great gift or souvenir which are easy to transport. I've got a few years under my belt with buying them in Tijuana and Hand Art hands down has the best quality. They are a tad pricey at $70/80 per but they are made from pure lino (linen). Some other ones with poly / cotton blends can run you $40.
I would also like to list:
Tienda Highlife. Located in Plazo Rio and the Centro Location on Calle 2 between Constitucion and Ninos Heroes which has $40 options.
I tried desperately to photograph mine to show everybody but the photos didn't come out right. It would be a disservice to post them. The beauty of guayaberas have to do with the intricate details and fabric quality which are hard to photograph.
Photo #1 found online is Julio Iglesias with Oscar de la Renta. " Oscar " does guayebra in style. Just to show you guys how one should look. The photo #2 is of a Dominican " Chacabana " with usually has contrasting buttons or trimming. SEARS in Plaza Rio has some commercial versions of these from mexican brands.

Great classic shirts for men that will never go out of style.
Another item unique to Tijuana and Mexico (from my experience) are these portable Bluetooth Speakers called baffles. You might have seen these on tripods located outside the clubs. I had no idea they were bluetooth and some models even have rechargeable batteries and luggage handles. I saw someone with one of these at the pool in Acapulco and was floored by the durability of them and the sound.
Kaiser is actually a german brand found in Mexico. That was my first purchase with a tripod. I haven't turned them off since I purchased them. The smallest version fills my entire house with club quality sound. I recently purchased the LG version since the pesos rate was so good. This one is the same size the bars use on Coahuilla. We all know how loud those are OVERKILL perhaps but at $142 a deal to be had. The LG does not have a rechargeable battery.
Only for guys with a car or local fellows due to the size.
You can find these at stores like Coppel. They have several locations throughout Tijuana. Also at ElEKTRA another chain store. These two places offer the best guarantees with one year. Other stores like Mitzu on Calle 2 nda will only offer you 3 months.
Most brands are made in China. Go for the two I listed.
I just found a custom denim workshop that will make custom jeans for $80/100. You bring in a pair that fits you and you pick the fabric that you want.

Tijuana is known for their pharmacies yet little has been told about ones specializing in skin issues. Scattered throughout the Zona Rio area you will see these types of pharmacies usually within a stones throw from a medical center or doctor's office.
They carry skin products and creams from all over Europe which would be extremely difficult to find in the USA. For example the face cream that I use in the USA has gotten nearly impossible to find in stores and recent reviews say the formula has been dumbed down. I went to Farmacia De La Piel and they turned me onto a moisturizing cream from Spain which I love.
Some prescription only products may also be found here without a prescription.

Monday noon took the car for some paint touch ups. Ruben Carillos on Calle 3rd corner Negrete has been doing good work for me charging very good prices. He has a couple sanders and a painters who can really repair body damages and make the car look like new.
I wanted just some quick touch ups on the 2 bumpers to sell the car, but Ruben wanted to repaint both bumpers so he can match the paint on rest of the car, and we agreed on a deal. His price to repair and paint averages $80 per panel for Spanish-speaking guys from SoCal, but he gave me much better deals. He's fun to kid around with when he's not goofing off screwing his sweetheart GF in LA Playa apartment hehe..Is this the one right on the corner?

La Herradura is sort of like a glorified curio shop with the focus on charreria and things having to do with cowboys and rodeo. With that said the items run the gamut of high quality belts and buckles made from steel. They also have a decent assortment of hats for alot less than you would find on Ave Revolucion.
I have purchased several things here over the years and highly recommend this place.
*Tip. Buy your belt here then bring it to Atoyac Leather on 3rd St to put a money zippered pouch on the inside.

I used to find artsy ceramics near that bridge, but no more. The shops on the lanes back near the border sell lots of gaudy arts. I never found anything worth buying. Will have to park the car and walk it again.

I agree that the market is a shell of what it used to be but I have found a few gems in there at times. You just need to look around awhile.

A big garage and parts shop on O'Campo corner of 4 or 5. They have 2 experienced mechanics, Alex and Michael who speaks English.
I had a small oil leak under the car which no US shop could pin point the source. They all wanted $400 to $600 to replace engine gaskets.
Valle sent me to an engine wash shop around the corner on Negrete and 8. The old man thoroughly decreased the engine for 250 pesos or $12. Valle put it back on the lift and could see tiny bits of oil sipping out of the timing chain cover. The rest of the engine was clean. They charged 2800 pesos or $140 to remove and reseal the cover with silicone.
Got rid of my headache cheap while I partied with the chicas. Life is good!
I have been getting into technology hunting in Tijuana recently. There are some really good deals on unlocked phones at stores like Coppel, Elektra, and the carrier stores like TelCel.
The other day I walked away with a Samsung A 8 inch tablet with an unlocked SIM card port for $290. It doubles as a cell phone since you can put a local sim card in it depending on which country you are in.
I do the pre pay plan which is tied to my online TelCel account that allows me to add minutes online via credit card. The carries switches from TelCel to T Mobile in the USA. You get to bypass all that contract BS by buying 100 mx sim card in Tijuana. Minutes are billed the same in the USA as in Mexico. Data will cost a little more but uses pre paid gb's from your phone balance.
I added a 128 gb sd disk for $53. This is a great travel device.
You can't find unlocked tablets like these in the USA that aren't tied to one company as far as I know.

I use the Schwab 1 account at Charles Schwab, the exchange rate is always terrific.
I used the HSBC ATM Machine located inside Soriana on Revo between 2nd and 3rd street on Friday afternoon. I requested 9,950 peso and the ATM machine charges an additional 63 pesos in fees so CS was essentially supplying 10,013 pesos. The debit withdrawal was for $499.95 to the account, for an exchange rate of 20.028, the best I've ever gotten. Normally I get 7,000 at a time, but purchased more because I was expecting to get a good rate of exchange.
I was hitching a ride with my quasi-wingman, who was expecting to leave Tijuana either on Monday or Tuesday morning. When QW decided to stay one more day, I saw I was running low on dinero. So I did the exact same transaction on Monday afternoon. Got a good rate, but not as good as three days prior. This time the account was debited $503.40 for an exchange rate of 19.89.

I've reviewed them before and not much has changed. But, I feel the need to say that the money I spend in VivaMex is some of the best value I get. This isn't a FS place and frankly, extras are not common. But I always go there when I visit. 3 visits this week were very good to excellent. Important to say: do not go here expecting extras. It might happen but don't set yourself up for disappointment. And quite honestly, if you are looking for a happy ending, go to the alley. But if you like a good massage, they've never disappointed me. I can't remember the first girl's name this week. Massage was an 8 out of 10. Good pressure. Some of the most overt teasing I've had there and went for it. 2nd girl was Teresa. Massage was 7 of 10. Upper body was OK; legs and lower body was excellent. Strange but just factual. 99% sure extras were available. Had a date an hour later and wasn't interested. Third and final massage was Estrella. Massage was 10 of 10. They had a deal on Tuesday: $20 for an hour. I opted for 90 minutes because I had time to kill. They gave me 90 minutes for less than their normal 1 hour rate ($35). Estrella worked her tail off. Great pressure. No extras hinted and just sense she probably does not play. But I left there pleased with the massage.
This is the VivaMex on the east side of Revo, just across from the big casino. If you get a he, expect a $30 tip. Not the cheapest option but a nice option in the moment if offered. Also, you'll not really know if extras are on the table until well after you are on the table.

Try Liberty Dentista on Benito Juarez corner O'Campo.
He does competetent work; his office is nice, clean, modern, well equipped with real-time digital xray machine; his sales guys speak English.
He can be convinced for steep discounts, like root canal for 1,500 pesos (about $75) compared to min $500 in the US. He takes all kinds of credit cards. Don't buy his antibiotics and pain killer medicines package as they are way too aggressive with severe side effects.
Hargow mentioned a tailor on Calle 2 and Madero which sparked my interest. I had 4 pairs of jeans needing to be altered. He whipped them out by the next day for roughly $3/4 in pesos.

Tailor across the street from Pepe's Parking at the building at the 4 way intersection. Charged me 20 pesos to measure my legs and stitch / hem pant legs to length. Believe he has raised prices to 50 pesos for hemming pant length but you might ask for his price now for hemming your pants. Has patched a jacket and repaired broken zippers on a guitar case for very reasonable prices (offhand 50 pesos) but he is very busy now, so you may have to leave your clothing for a few days and pick them up the next time you park at Pepes and visit HK.
Also, the wristband on my watch broke, so I walked up towards the cathedral and in the catedral plaza found a small watch shop who repaired the metal watchband for 30 pesos. He also adjusted the band for wrist size, so I gave him 50 pesos for the extra help.

They were in Tijuana maybe 2 years ago? The backstage meet and greet packages were affordable compared to US shows but I didn't trust it. I also can't imagine seeing KISS without all the original members nor would I go see them if I couldn't fire up a joint.

I suppose the good news here is that the peso getting cheaper means cheap vacations in Tijuana for Americans and more tourism business for Mexico.Yesterday the best rate was around 18.75 in San Ysidro so not much better.
BTW, took a van / bus to the Playas (beaches of Tijuana) the other day for the first time. 14 pesos for one way. The van was clean, cooled (but I can see how it can get really warm and consequently stink with be. O. In the summer heat). It was much cheaper than the $10+1 taxi fare.
One can catch a ride a block South of the big Church across from the Tech mall 2 blocks south of HK. It took about 15-20 minutes. The Playas was interesting because you can see newly built homes adjacent (common wall) with an eye sore home that should be condemned because it looked like a shelled house in the middle of a war zone. There were tons of restaurants and coffee shops.
The beach was smelly but not too bad. But should be better in the Summer because of a lower chance of rain that can overwhelm its sewage system. Anyways it is an alternative spot to visit if one is in town for a couple of days and wants to see more of Tijuana than pussy. Unless you're a pervert like me who is constantly looking for panties even if a woman is covered from head to toe.

How much does it cost?I believe that is the case. But I don't know anyone who has done it, so I can't confirm.
I do know from my own experience that my SoCal Costco membership is accepted by the Costco in Tijuana. But unfortunately the Costco in Tijuana would not let me pay my annual dues at the Costco in Tijuana (neither in dollars nor in pesos).

I have the opportunity late February or early March to take a working vacation. About three months, perhaps longer depending on a few things. I learned from my first trip to Tijuana that I need a more goal oriented trip in order not to get too bored. I've decided my primary goal for visiting is to finally get over some of my hurdles with Spanish.
I've been steadily learning Spanish since my trip years ago and I've found I can read and write at a modest level, speak it enough to be understood (with an atrocious accent), but I am having the most difficult time understanding spoken Spanish. A big part of this is because I am fairly deaf and my ears simply cannot distinguish from one word to another and lip reading Spanish has proven to be an extremely difficult skill to master.
I'm hoping that some personal instruction will be the ticket. I'm wanting to dedicate a significant chunk of my days and weeks to learning Spanish because I'd like to see what opportunities for earning money in Mexico there might be (though that's a topic for another day).
Does anyone know of any tutoring services, small classes, immersion classes, even University classes in or near Tijuana designed to teach guys like me a fairly proficient level of Spanish? San Diego would be fine as well, but I would be somewhat concerned with cost. I'm not looking for a quick fix, just steady genuine improvements in my fluency. If you have recommendations, but they are in other cities please let me know, Tijuana is more familiar, but I'm not limiting myself to one city. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My daughter damaged the paint and dented the rear fender of her car; thought I'the go to Tijuana for some UTR repair work. The Captain mentioned good results with Carrillo on Calle 3 & Ave. Negrete a few years back. Anyone know if they're still good (or have better options)? It worked in the US as well just depends where you use it or if the employee is new because they have to type in some special "International code". Now the good thing is that in the US it takes more work for them to see if the membership is still valid. So I was able to use my card for about 3 years without paying for it since they never tried to verify it.

I did several trips with him over a period of time. His service is called Frontier Express. Today I came across a real gem of a store. This place looks like it belongs in South Beach, Miami but the prices are Tijuana. Just beautiful leather bags, shoes, wallets, belts etc. A totally different level of quality than what you see on Revolucion. More in tune with tienda Cuadra in Plaza Rio and Galerias or even a higher caliber boutique.
