I think Tijuana will offer you a lot more in terms of overall experience. Tijuana has great food and lots of interesting things to see and do.

To me mexican hookers are all hit and miss. The advantage to you in Tijuana would be more options at your disposal at different price structures.

Border towns follow the general gestalt of the USA Towns they border. Juarez is more Texas / midwestern. Tijuana is more So. Cal with all it's sh*theads (and there are so many). Tijuana more dangerous, especially from the crooked cops. Tijuana more hard core, in your face. Tijuana more expensive more hard core WG. Watch your back in both towns but more so in Tijuana. I have walked during the night time to the district tolerencia in Juarez. I would never walk at night outside the tourist areas in Tijuana. Tijuana More freelancers, then hard core business type in Juarez, less likely to find a "normal" girl who just needs extra cash. The Acuna girls might have better "attitude" but their looks, numbers are no competition from the other two large cities. Acuna is safer (as is Nogales).

I am a registered independent. Been one since I turned 18. Center / Left would be my take on most issues. Trump definitely doesn't have me in mind when it comes to social issues.

As calls for inquiries and reparations spread, Beijing has responded aggressively, mixing threats with aid and adding to a growing mistrust of China.

Brussels — Australia has called for an inquiry into the origin of the virus. Germany and Britain are hesitating anew about inviting in the Chinese tech giant Huawei. President Trump has blamed China for the contagion and is seeking to punish it. Some governments want to sue Beijing for damages and reparations.

Across the globe a backlash is building against China for its initial mishandling of the crisis that helped loose the coronavirus on the world, creating a deeply polarizing battle of narratives and setting back China's ambition to fill the leadership vacuum left by the United States.

China, never receptive to outside criticism and wary of damage to its domestic control and long economic reach, has responded aggressively, combining medical aid to other countries with harsh nationalist rhetoric, and mixing demands for gratitude with economic threats.

The result has only added momentum to the blowback and the growing mistrust of China in Europe and Africa, undermining China's desired image as a generous global actor.

Even before the virus, Beijing displayed a fierce approach to public relations, an aggressive style called "Wolf Warrior" diplomacy, named after two ultrapatriotic Chinese films featuring the evil plots and fiery demise of American-led foreign mercenaries.

With clear encouragement from President Xi Jinping and the powerful Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party, a younger generation of Chinese diplomats have been proving their loyalty with defiantly nationalist and sometimes threatening messages in the countries where they are based.

"You have a new brand of Chinese diplomats who seem to compete with each other to be more radical and eventually insulting to the country where they happen to be posted," said François Godement, a senior adviser for Asia at the Paris-based Institut Montaigne. "They've gotten into fights with every northern European country with whom they should have an interest, and they've alienated every one of them. ".

Since the virus, the tone has only toughened, a measure of just how serious a danger China's leaders consider the virus to their standing at home, where it has fueled anger and destroyed economic growth, as well as abroad.

In the past several weeks, at least seven Chinese ambassadors — to France, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and the African Union — have been summoned by their hosts to answer accusations ranging from spreading misinformation to the "racist mistreatment" of Africans in Guangzhou.

Just last week, China threatened to withhold medical aid from the Netherlands for changing the name of its representative office in Taiwan to include the word Taipei. And before that, the Chinese Embassy in Berlin sparred publicly with the German newspaper Bild after the tabloid demanded $160 billion in compensation from China for damages to Germany from the virus.

Mr. Trump said last week that his administration was conducting "serious investigations" into Beijing's handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

He has pressed American intelligence agencies to find the source of the virus, suggesting it might have emerged accidentally from a Wuhan weapons lab, although most intelligence agencies remain skeptical. And he has expressed interest in trying to sue Beijing for damages, with the United States seeking $10 million for every American death.

Republicans in the United States have moved to support Mr. Trump's attacks on China. Missouri's attorney general, Eric Schmitt, filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking to hold Beijing responsible for the outbreak.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Geng Shuang, called the suit "frivolous," adding that it had "no factual and legal basis' and "only invites ridicule."

The suit seems to aim less at securing victory in court, which is unlikely, than at prodding Congress to pass legislation to make it easier for USA Citizens to sue foreign states for damages.

"From Beijing's point of view, this contemporary call is a historic echo of the reparations paid after the Boxer Rebellion," said Theresa Fallon, director of the Centre for Russia Europe Asia Studies, referring to the anti-imperialist, anti-Christian and ultranationalist uprising around 1899-1901 in China that ended in defeat, with huge reparations for eight nations over the next decades. "The party's cultivation of the humiliation narrative makes it politically impossible for Xi to ever agree to pay any reparations. ".

Instead, it has been imperative for Mr. Xi to turn the narrative around, steering it from a story of incompetence and failure — including the suppression of early warnings about the virus — into one of victory over the illness, a victory achieved through the unity of the party.

In the latest iteration of the new Chinese narrative, the enemy — the virus — did not even come from China, but from the USA Military, an unsubstantiated accusation made by China's combative Foreign Ministry spokesman, Zhao Lijian.

Chinese diplomats are encouraged to be combative by Beijing, said Susan Shirk, a China scholar and director of the 21st Century China Center at the University of California, San Diego. The promotion of Mr. Zhao to spokesman and his statement about the USA Army "signals to everyone in China that this is the official line, so you get this megaphone effect," she said, adding that it makes any negotiations more difficult.

But in the longer run, China is seeding mistrust and damaging its own interests, said Ms. Shirk, who is working on a book called "Overreach," about how China's domestic politics have derailed its ambitions for a peaceful rise as a global superpower.

"As China started getting control over the virus and started this health diplomacy, it could have been the opportunity for China to emphasize its compassionate side and rebuild trust and its reputation as a responsible global power," she said. "But that diplomatic effort got hijacked by the Propaganda Department of the party, with a much more assertive effort to leverage their assistance to get praise for China as a country and a system and its performance in stopping the spread of the virus. ".

In recent days, Chinese state media has run numerous inflammatory statements, saying that Australia, after announcing its desire for an inquiry into the virus, was "gum stuck to the bottom of China's shoe. " Beijing warned that Australia risked long-term damage to its trading partnership with China, which takes a third of Australia's exports.

"Maybe the ordinary people will say, 'Why should we drink Australian wine? Eat Australian beef? China's ambassador, Cheng Jingye, told The Australian Financial Review. Australia's foreign minister, Marise Payne, dismissed China's attempt as "economic coercion. ".

Even in European countries like Germany, "the mistrust of China has accelerated so quickly with the virus that no ministry knows how to deal with it," said Angela Stanzel, a China expert with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs.

The same has been true in Poland, said the USA Ambassador to Warsaw, Georgette Mosbacher, in an interview, describing Chinese pressure on President Andrzej Duda to call Mr. Xi and thank him for aid, a call the Chinese heralded at home.

"Poland wasn't going to get this stuff unless the phone call was made, so they could use that phone call" for propaganda, Ms. Mosbacher said.

There is some unhappiness in China with the current diplomatic rhetoric. In a recent essay, Zi Zhongyun, now 89, a longtime expert on America at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, sees parallels in the harsh nationalist and xenophobic rhetoric of the Wolf Warriors of today with the period around the Boxer Rebellion against Western influence in China.

Ms. Zi said such reactions risked getting out of hand.

"I can say without a doubt," she concluded, "that as long as Boxer-like activities are given the official stamp of approval as being 'patriotic, and as long as "generation after generation of our fellow Chinese are educated and inculcated with a Boxer-like mentality, it will be impossible for China to take its place among the modern civilized nations of the world. ".

Three Russian doctors fall from hospital windows, raising questions amid coronavirus pandemic.

Moscow (CNN) Three frontline health care workers have mysteriously fallen out of hospital windows in Russia over the past two weeks, heightening public attention to the working conditions for doctors and medical professionals amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Two of those health care workers are dead, and one remains hospitalized.

All three incidents, which are being investigated by Russian law enforcement authorities, have prompted intense discussion in the Russian press and on social media.

Alexander Shulepov, an ambulance doctor in Voronezh, a city about 320 miles south of Moscow, is in serious condition after falling from a hospital window on Saturday. Local state television, citing regional health officials, said he fell out of second-floor window of the Novousmanskaya hospital, where he worked and was receiving treatment after testing positive for coronavirus.

Shulepov was hospitalized for coronavirus on April 22, the same day he and his colleague Alexander Kosyakin posted a video online saying that Shulepov had been forced to continue working after testing positive for coronavirus.

Kosyakin had previously criticized hospital administration for protective gear shortages on his social media and was questioned by the police for allegedly spreading fake news.

Kosyakin confirmed these details to CNN in an interview.

"{Shulepov} is an intensive care unit, as far as I know in a serious condition, last time I spoke to him was on the 30th of April, we checked in with each other," Kosyakin told CNN. "he felt fine, he was getting ready to get discharged from the hospital. And all of a sudden this happened, it's not clear why and what for, so many questions that I don't even have the answer to."

Police have not responded to CNN's request for comment.

The Novousmanskaya hospital said in a statement that Shulepov had been taken off a shift as soon as he informed the hospital administration about his positive diagnosis and was offered hospitalization in the infectious diseases ward.

Three days later, Shulepov retracted his previous statements, saying that in his video with Kosyakin he was "overwhelmed by emotions. " The second video Shulepov recorded featured Igor Potanin, the head doctor of the Novousmanskaya hospital, who said his medical staff has enough protective equipment.

"I spoke about this to the department's employees: I won't let anyone go to outpatients or inpatients if we don't have enough means of protection, I told them I'd go myself there, but I will not send anyone," Potanin said.

Shulepov was the third health worker in Russia to fall out of a window in the past two weeks.

On May 1, Elena Nepomnyashchaya, the acting head doctor of a hospital in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, died after spending a week in intensive care, the regional department of the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Local TV station TVK Krasnoyarsk reported at the time that Nepomnyashchaya allegedly fell out of a window during a meeting with regional health officials, during which they discussed turning the clinic into a coronavirus facility.

Nepomnyashchaya was reported to have opposed those changes due to the lack of protective gear in the hospital. The Health Ministry's regional health department denied the allegations in a statement, adding that the hospital is in "reserve" for coronavirus patients and its staff has been trained and equipped. The hospital did not respond to CNN's requests for comment.

On April 24, Natalya Lebedeva, head of the emergency medical service at Star City, the main training base for Russia's cosmonauts, died in a hospital after a fall.

The hospital within the Federal Biomedical Agency, which says it treated her for suspected coronavirus, released a statement that "a tragic accident" occurred, without elaborating. The hospital did not respond to CNN's request for comment.

In the statement, the hospital said, "She was a true professional in her field, saving human lives every day!

Veracruz and Raudal (SW areas near Botero Plaza) are a lot like crusing the Coahuilla alley and streets near Cascadas. If lucky, you will find those gems as I have. To commemorate the anniversary of the Mexican Army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla, here are the 25 best movies set in Mexico.

"Traffic" (2000).

If you recall, there are three storylines in the 2000 drama "Traffic," one of which was set in Mexico and featured Benicio del Toro, Jacob Vargas and Tom Milian. As a whole, the Steven Soderbergh film was critically acclaimed and won Academy Awards for Best Director, Supporting Actor (del Toro), Film Editing and Adapted Screenplay (Stephen Gaghan), as well as a Best Picture nomination.

"From Dusk till Dawn" (1996).

Robert Rodriguez as director? Check. A Quentin Tarantino screenplay? Check. A cast of George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Cheech Marin, Salma Hayek and Tarantino? Oh yeah. And did we mention it's also about vampires? "Up in Smoke" (1978).

Although most of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong's first feature film, 1978's "Up in Smoke," is set in LOS Angeles, the pot-smoking duo end up getting deported to Mexico along with Cheech's relatives (who called the INS on themselves to attend a Tijuana wedding) and spend some time south of the border before unknowingly smuggling marijuana back into the states. Many critics slammed the film for its immature and crude humor, but audiences helped the box office numbers get higher than the film's stars ($44 million, to be exact), and it has since become a cult classic in the stoner genre.

"El Norte" (1983).

The portion of 1983's "El Norte" that takes place in Mexico is only about one-third of the total film, but for a drama clocking in at nearly two-and-a-half hours, that's still some substantial screen time. Directed by Gregory Nava and written by Nava and Anna Thomas, "El Norte" earned a nod for Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars — the first time an independent film ever received a nomination in that category. Centering on two Guatemalan youngsters (Zaide Silvia Gutiérrez and David Villalpando) fleeing violence in their country for a better life in America, "El Norte" carved out such an important place in history that it was added to the National Film Registry in 1995.

"Three Amigos" (1986).

Critics be damned. How could you not like a screwball comedy directed by John Landis, written by Lorne Michaels, Steve Martin and Randy Newman and starring Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short? The trio star as a silent film troupe that travels to Mexico for what they think is a TV appearance but is actually a plea from the residents of a small town being terrorized by a bandit and his gang. Despite the terrible threat facing Santo Poco, "Three Amigos" is packed with plenty of laughs, numerous cameos (including Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman) and, of course, a plethora of piñatas.

"El Mariachi" (1992).

Apologies to the two English language films in Robert Rodriguez's "Mexico Trilogy," but the first, 1992's "El Mariachi," is definitely the standout. Before Antonio Banderas took over the part, Carlos Gallardo played the titular character, a musician who mistakenly gets caught up with some criminals and drug lords. Despite a budget of less than $250,000 and numerous cost-cutting techniques, "El Mariachi" is an exciting and entertaining Mexican Western than earned a spot in the National Film Registry in 2011.

Show on Netflix called "Dark Tourist" did a Pablo Escobar tour in MDE which looked like a interesting experience. This film was filmed in Tijuana with big stars, Ray Liotti and Andy Garcia. It showed a scene in a puta bar where a rejected girl told the gringos to "Go fuck yourself. " That kind of nasty attitude may happen in the US but would never happen among the girls in Tijuana.

It's a long story about the HSI trying to kill terrorists who seek help from Mexican drug cartels to enter the US. A lot of details in the plot are just not realistic. The Us hitman Liotti was stalking targets but had psych problems, could not shoot. He was wandering Tijuana streets, got jumped by a bunch of teenagers, robbed, beaten and left to die on the sidewalk. A MILF puta somehow carried him back to her apartment on the second floor, nursed him back to life. He went after the terrorists and cartel guys again, killed them all, took a big sack of US $, gave it all to the MILF puta ect.

The movie had a fake story and a phony, unrealistic plot. There was some good shooting scenes, but it's a typical Hollywood's action movie with little accuracy to real life.

For a good movie about Mexico's drug scene, El Infierno, written and directed by Mexicans, is far more authentic.

Beaches are being polluted and communities, including the Navy SEALs and Border Patrol, are getting sick from the waste. Lesley Stahl reports. 2020 May 31 CORRESPONDENTLesley Stahl.

The term "crisis on the border" typically refers to immigration issues or drugs being smuggled into the country. But it has one more meaning, as we discovered, when we went to the border in early February: tens of millions of gallons of raw sewage that spill every year into the Tijuana River on the Mexican side and flow across the border right into Southern California, polluting the land, air, and sea.

Mexico and the United States each thinks the other should be doing more to clean it up, with no effective solution found on either side of the border for decades.

This is where the Tijuana River crosses the border into the United States. This cement structure was built to contain flooding from rainfall. But this isn't just rain water, it's a toxic mix of raw sewage from neighboring Tijuana, draining into Southern California on lower ground, eventually emptying into the pacific ocean.

Amber Craig: So, it effectively-- it's like a toilet flushing straight into this river valley.

Border Patrol agent Amber Craig took us on a tour of the sewage infiltration, showing us that what doesn't flush out to sea, washes up on land. Mountains of plastic bottles, furniture and tires.

Amber Craig: And this is a concern for us, too, not just because it's debris and waste, but because the mosquitoes love to nest in it, so.

It's connected on either end to tunnels from Mexico to California that were constructed right under the wall.

Lesley Stahl: So you think of the smugglers and the migrants building tunnels to go under the wall. But the USA Government built this tunnel that goes under the wall.

Amber Craig: Yes, we built this so that the water would flow freely into the United States.

It has to flow freely because four decades ago the USA Signed an agreement with Mexico not to cause backup flooding at this area of the border. These metal grates at the ends of the tunnel let the water in while keeping the rubbish out. It typically works fine during dry weather, but not when it storms.

Amber Craig: The amount of water that comes through here comes through like a torrent. It is very, very dangerous. It is a raging river when it rains.

Lesley Stahl: With the tires and the barrels and everything-.

Amber Craig: Full of debris and garbage. That's correct. It's very dangerous.

The debris and garbage can hurtle down here with such force that Border Patrol agents have to open the grates to prevent the system from clogging. That means trash flows into California unobstructed. It's also an opening for migrants.

Lesley Stahl: The purpose of the wall is being totally defeated by this obligation of yours to lift the grates.

Amber Craig: You-- well, yup. It does make it a little more challenging to have to have that open. Of course, we don't want to have it open.

Lesley Stahl: If they go through that tunnel, they're in the United States.

Amber Craig: If the grates have to be opened, then we have to have a personnel, an agent, on the other side, keeping-.

Lesley Stahl: So as they come out.

Amber Craig: That's correct.

Lesley Stahl: How do the smugglers know that the grates are lifted?

Amber Craig: They watch.

Lesley Stahl: They watch?

Amber Craig: Sure. There're smugglers watching us probably right now.

Migrants are routinely caught risking their lives crossing in the sewage: some need to be rescued and decontaminated.

Lesley Stahl: Let me read you a list that we found of stuff that is in this water: fecal coliforms, drug-resistant bacteria, benzene, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium medical waste, and DDT, which has been banned for years in the United States.

Amber Craig: Yes, ma'am.

Lesley Stahl: I hear that sometimes the water turns funny colors?

Amber Craig: It does. We've had bright, bright purple, a bright pink, neon green, dark black.

Lesley Stahl: So the migrants are going into this?

Amber Craig: Yes, ma'am.

Lesley Stahl: And the patrol agents are going into this. Are they getting sick?

Amber Craig: Agents have reported various health injuries. Rashes are very common. Stomach issues. We've had one agent who had a flesh-eating bacteria. And he almost lost his arm.

Lesley Stahl: How angry are you and the other agents?

Amber Craig: We're frustrated, very frustrated. Agents know our job is dangerous. We've signed up for a job where we could be shot at, where we could die in a car accident. And we accept that. Nobody thought that they were going to come here and be exposed to this, to the sewage, and the chemicals and the smell.

Congress just allocated $300 million to address the sewage issue all along the border, a fraction of what's needed. Especially here, because of the rapidly growing population of Tijuana.

Amber Craig: It is a difficult situation. We're having to deal with another country. And the City of Tijuana, it's just a huge city, it's overpopulated. Their infrastructure isn't-- isn't prepared to handle this kind of flow. So it just comes right over the border.

The local Mexican sewage authority invited us to one of the main treatment pumps in Tijuana. It often breaks down due to mechanical failures. So workers have to wade underground in black sludge to repair the buckling facility. While we were there, one worker got so overwhelmed by toxic fumes he required medical attention.

According to the Mexican authority, the last line of defense keeping the sewage out of the USA Here is a small crew of sanitation workers who unclog drains by hand along the border. We found one of them, a man named Abel, clearing trash with a rake.

Some of the wastewater that does get collected is pumped into these giant pools six miles south of the border, where the sewage is supposed to be treated and discharged through this massive pipe as clean water into the ocean. But the facility hasn't worked for years, so what you're looking at is untreated sewage emptying directly into the Pacific.

We stood by the torrent with Fay Crevoshay, an environmentalist with Wild Coast, a watchdog group of concerned citizens from both sides of the border.

Lesley Stahl: How much sewage are we talking about?

Fay Crevoshay: Yeah. The local authorities say that it's 25 million gallons a day. We think it's 40 million gallons.

Lesley Stahl: And it's just gushing, gushing, gushing out.

Fay Crevoshay: That's what we have here.

Making matters worse, entire shantytowns have popped up in Tijuana's canyons along the border. Many of these makeshift shacks were thrown-up by people who moved here for jobs, at factories created by the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Lesley Stahl: These factories are dumping their chemicals?

Fay Crevoshay: Sure. We have laws, but there is no-.

Lesley Stahl: Enforcement-.

Fay Crevoshay: --control. So why spend money? The problem is these factories come here because it's cheap. They're going to pay the workers $8 a day. And this is the result. This is where the workers live. These houses have no services, no electricity-.

Lesley Stahl: No plumbing.

Fay Crevoshay: --no plumbing, nothing.

Lesley Stahl: This stream, this entire stream, is just raw sewage.

Fay Crevoshay: Sewage.

Lesley Stahl: When it rains, what happens to this stream?

Fay Crevoshay: It grows. They have a whole river! You see all the lying garbage, all around it?

Lesley Stahl: Yeah. That-.

Fay Crevoshay: It takes it with!

We saw tires everywhere, a lot of them from California that were sold to Mexican car-owners second-hand. When the tires wear out, many are used to prop up homes on the hillside or just get dumped and then get swept by the sewage right back to Southern California.

We wondered where all the untreated sewage that emptied into the ocean goes. Well, we learned that it can flow right by a USA Military training base. Hard to believe but the Navy SEALs are training right in the path of the sludge.

Lesley Stahl: Let me ask the SEALs, how many of you-- have gone swimming in that?

ALL: All of us.

Retired naval officer Mark West and four retired SEALs. Alex Lopez, Kyle Buckett, Bill Lyman, and Steve Viola. Told us how the sewage impacts those training here.

Steve Viola: It wreaks havoc on your system. Stomach aches, throwing up, I mean, coming out both ends—fever. And you just have to suck it up and keep going.

Kyle Buckett: We've had classes of, you know, 38 to 42 guys contract it during their training cycle. And it's a very, it's a big challenge for us to deal with that.

Alex Lopez: I contracted cellulitis. Which is-.

Lesley Stahl: What's that?

Alex Lopez: --a bacterial, like, staph infection. It just took off, and it started eating, you know, flesh on both my legs.

They say that the most vulnerable are SEAL BUD / S, those trying out to be SEALs, especially during "Hell Week" –.

Five and a half days immersed in the ocean, testing their endurance.

Lesley Stahl: Have you heard that during Hell Week the BUD / S now take prophylactic antibiotics?

Steve Viola: Yes, I have heard that.

Lesley Stahl: You were a trainer. Do you ever say, "These kids can't go in this today. I can smell it, I can see it. ".

Kyle Buckett: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, we have.

Lesley Stahl: You do-- you do.

Kyle Buckett: We have, we have. And then we have to transition to the bay or to a pool.

Bill Lyman: There's no waves in the bay and there's no waves in the pool.

Lesley Stahl: Are you seeing any reason for us to worry about your readiness?

Mark West: I think, I think that our readiness is being impacted. And you know-.

Lesley Stahl: It is being I'm-.

Mark West: Yeah, it is.

The SEALs say the Navy, aware of the sewage issue, is monitoring the water quality. So we found it odd that it is spending a billion dollars to expand the SEALs' training base much closer to the source of the pollution.

Steve Viola: Well we had outgrown the capacity of the buildings that we had. So that's why we moved down there.

Lesley Stahl: But were they taking the pollution into account?

Bill Lyman: No.

Lesley Stahl: The Navy did do an environmental impact study.

GROUP: Yes.

Kyle Buckett: The Navy's main focus was to see how much we were going to impact the environment. It wasn't focused on what the environment was going to impact on the Navy SEAL community.

The Navy turned down our request for an interview, but recently told Congress in a report that the run-off is a concern, yet its impact has been "infrequent and short term," concluding that it is easily mitigated. Serge Dedina, mayor of Imperial Beach, the city on the south-edge of the new base, doesn't buy it.

Serge Dedina: They've ignored the health and safety of their own national security staff, and that's absolutely unacceptable.

Lesley Stahl: Did you ever get any health problems from the water?

Serge Dedina: Yeah. I have a tube in my ear 'cause I had so many ear infections. My kids have gotten sick. Our lifeguards have gotten sick. Pretty much every one of our councilmembers have gotten sick. So it's-- it's devastated our city.

In more ways than one. Imperial Beach is a surfing town, but its beaches are closed a third of the year or more due to the toxic sludge.

Serge Dedina: I've got to spend my time hammering people in power to make sure they understand that dumping toxic waste on Navy SEALs and Border Patrol agents is a bad idea, and getting them to acknowledge that it's actually happening.

Lesley Stahl: If the Navy weighed in do you think things would begin to happen?

Serge Dedina: I think if the Navy brass weighed in, this would be fixed tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Niagara of sewage keeps gushing, the grates keep opening, and Abel keeps at it with his rake.

Of course the movie was a teen-age wet dream, way exaggerated for entertaining. Would love to fuck someone as pretty and spicy as Shelley Long, resist policia, but not buying Spanish flies, having my car seats stuffed with horse shit, fighting gangs and ending up in jail hehe.

It isn't the metropolis that somewhere like NYC or Chicago is but it happens to be an extremely large city in Mexico. I am pretty sure it is in the top 5 population wise? Regardless as mentioned Tijuana is a "city". Cities have crowded streets and markets. A lot of the population lives in apartments sometimes several inhabitants under one roof. Even in SFH areas the population is dense. Many places don't have good ventilation or windows that face outdoor air. Basically it is a death trap. It isn't much different of an environment than being in NYC. It isn't as grand BUT it shares many of the same urban variables.

The clubs, restaurants, overused hookers. It all fails under Covid19.

Today there was an article mentioning that Covid is a virus of the blood vessels and that's why overweight people or those with heart issues are high at risk. This isn't some sniffle inducing cold that you sip NyQuil to cure.

To make matters worse there is cross border traffic that doesn't end. No matter what the entrance protocols like temperature checks Etc. might be; it still won't lessen your risk of getting it in Tijuana.

Not to mention Tijuana is foreign soil. Different ways of handling things and a different layer of corruption that we will never understand.

Tijuana will have one chance to open up for tourism and it better be the right timing or things will get really bad down there.

It has also been since Feb that I have been down. I am hoping that by the holidays things will be a lot better. I just don't know and the looting and lack of unity in this virus battle is not promising to say the least.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — A USA Navy veteran from California has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in Iran, his lawyer said Saturday, becoming the first American known to be imprisoned there since President Donald Trump took office.

Though the case against Michael are. White remains unclear, it comes as Trump has taken a hard-line approach to Iran by pulling the USA Out of Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers.

Iran, which in the past has used its detention of Westerners and dual nationals as leverage in negotiations, has yet to report on White's sentence in state-controlled media. Its mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"Obviously the concern is that the Iranians are using this as a tool against the United States, given the other individuals who are in custody," Washington-based lawyer Mark Zaid told The Associated Press.

White's arrest was first reported by IranWire, an online news service run by Iranian expatriates, which interviewed a former Iranian prisoner who said he met White at Vakilabad Prison in the northeastern city of Mashhad in October.

In the time since, White has been convicted of insulting Iran's supreme leader and posting private information online, Zaid said. He said the information surrounding the case remained vague. He learned of the sentence from the USA State Department, which in turn learned of it from the Swiss government, which looks after American interests in Iran.

The State Department said late Saturday that it was "aware of the detention of a USA Citizen in Iran. ".

"We have no higher priority than the safety and security of USA Citizens abroad," it said, without elaborating on the case.

The New York Times first reported White's 10-year sentence.

White's mother, Joanne White, had told the Times that her son, who lives in Imperial Beach, California, went to Iran to see a woman she described as his girlfriend and had booked a July 27 flight back home to San Diego via the United Arab Emirates. She filed a missing person report with the State Department after he did not board the flight. She added that he had been undergoing treatment for a neck tumor and has asthma.

White worked as a cook in the USA Navy and left the service about a decade ago.

Zaid said Saturday that White apparently traveled to Mashhad without informing the woman in advance. It remains difficult for Americans to get visas to Iran, 40 years after the Islamic Revolution and the USA Embassy hostage crisis.

"That's certainly our concern, that's he's being used as a pawn," Zaid said. "But we're more in a confused state than an aware state."

There are three other Americans known to be held in Iran.

Iranian-American Siamak Namazi and his octogenarian father Baquer, a former UNICEF representative who served as governor of Iran's oil-rich Khuzestan province under the USA -backed shah, are both serving 10-year sentences on espionage charges. Iranian-American art dealer Karan Vafadari and his Iranian wife, Afarin Neyssari, received 27-year and 16-year prison sentences, respectively. Chinese-American graduate student Xiyue Wang was sentenced to 10 years in prison for allegedly "infiltrating" the country while doing doctoral research on Iran's Qajar dynasty.

Iranian-American Robin Shahini was released on bail in 2017 after staging a hunger strike while serving an 18-year prison sentence for "collaboration with a hostile government. " Shahini has since return to America and is now suing Iran in USA Federal court.

Also in an Iranian prison is Nizar Zakka, a USA Permanent resident from Lebanon who advocated for internet freedom and has done work for the USA Government. He was sentenced to 10 years on espionage-related charges.

Former FBI agent Robert Levinson, who vanished in Iran in 2007 while on an unauthorized CIA mission, remains missing. Iran says that Levinson is not in the country and that it has no further information about him, though his family holds Tehran responsible for his disappearance.

And I'm not disputing some may be strong armed into $30. However, each of the last three weekends, I walked into Mexico, with a large suitcase. When they asked where I was going, I said Tijuana. Once I was waved through without completing the FMM. The other two times, I was asked how long. 3 days. Filled out the FMM and walked in. No mention of $30. So your comment about gringos unlikely given the option of the 7-day FMM, like so many other of your contributions, are just fiction.

As for that $30, I do believe that it's a quasi scam. Not sure if the agent receives a kickback. But the problem is the law is not on our side. With the border technically shut to normal traffic, Mexico has even more authority to turn us away. Pre-Covid, I think we could press the argument more, and win. But right now, it is just much easier for them to deny entry.

Though the case against Michael are. White remains unclear, it comes as Trump has taken a hard-line approach to Iran by pulling the USA Out of Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers.

Iran, which in the past has used its detention of Westerners and dual nationals as leverage in negotiations, has yet to report on White's sentence in state-controlled media. Its mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"Obviously the concern is that the Iranians are using this as a tool against the United States, given the other individuals who are in custody," Washington-based lawyer Mark Zaid told The Associated Press.

White's arrest was first reported by IranWire, an online news service run by Iranian expatriates, which interviewed a former Iranian prisoner who said he met White at Vakilabad Prison in the northeastern city of Mashhad in October.

In the time since, White has been convicted of insulting Iran's supreme leader and posting private information online, Zaid said. He said the information surrounding the case remained vague. He learned of the sentence from the USA State Department, which in turn learned of it from the Swiss government, which looks after American interests in Iran.

The State Department said late Saturday that it was "aware of the detention of a USA Citizen in Iran. ".

"We have no higher priority than the safety and security of USA Citizens abroad," it said, without elaborating on the case.

The New York Times first reported White's 10-year sentence.

White's mother, Joanne White, had told the Times that her son, who lives in Imperial Beach, California, went to Iran to see a woman she described as his girlfriend and had booked a July 27 flight back home to San Diego via the United Arab Emirates. She filed a missing person report with the State Department after he did not board the flight. She added that he had been undergoing treatment for a neck tumor and has asthma.

White worked as a cook in the USA Navy and left the service about a decade ago.

Zaid said Saturday that White apparently traveled to Mashhad without informing the woman in advance. It remains difficult for Americans to get visas to Iran, 40 years after the Islamic Revolution and the USA Embassy hostage crisis.

"That's certainly our concern, that's he's being used as a pawn," Zaid said. "But we're more in a confused state than an aware state."

There are three other Americans known to be held in Iran.

Iranian-American Siamak Namazi and his octogenarian father Baquer, a former UNICEF representative who served as governor of Iran's oil-rich Khuzestan province under the USA -backed shah, are both serving 10-year sentences on espionage charges. Iranian-American art dealer Karan Vafadari and his Iranian wife, Afarin Neyssari, received 27-year and 16-year prison sentences, respectively. Real estate transactions are handled by a notaria. Most properties are free and clear. Loans are not common. I'm sure you could get an escritura drafted in a week if you were willing to pay for it. Most of it is either boilerplate or comes from the previous escritura. More complicated if you are a foreigner purchasing and need a fideicomiso but that wouldn't apply here. If you want verification that any burdens on the property like predial, CFE or CESPT have been paid in full, that might take longer. I don't know why any group getting the property essentially for free would worry about paying the escritura and associated transfer taxes or need to clear burdens that run with the property. ("we're going to steal your property, please may sure all the taxes utilities have been paid".

It is a common, but not necessary, practice if you are buying for cash.

'A Smoking Gun': Infectious Coronavirus Retrieved From Hospital Air.

Airborne virus plays a significant role in community transmission, many experts believe. A new study fills in the missing piece: Floating virus can infect cells.

Skeptics of the notion that the coronavirus spreads through the air — including many expert advisers to the World Health Organization — have held out for one missing piece of evidence: proof that floating respiratory droplets called aerosols contain live virus, and not just fragments of genetic material.

Now a team of virologists and aerosol scientists has produced exactly that: confirmation of infectious virus in the air.

"This is what people have been clamoring for," said Linsey Marr, an expert in airborne spread of viruses who was not involved in the work. "It's unambiguous evidence that there is infectious virus in aerosols."

A research team at the University of Florida succeeded in isolating live virus from aerosols collected at a distance of seven to 16 feet from patients hospitalized with Covid-19 — farther than the six feet recommended in social distancing guidelines.

The findings, posted online last week, have not yet been vetted by peer review, but have already caused something of a stir among scientists. "If this isn't a smoking gun, then I don't know what is," Dr. Marr tweeted last week.

But some experts said it still was not clear that the amount of virus recovered was sufficient to cause infection.

The research was exacting. Aerosols are minute by definition, measuring only up to five micrometers across; evaporation can make them even smaller. Attempts to capture these delicate droplets usually damage the virus they contain.

"It's very hard to sample biological material from the air and have it be viable," said Shelly Miller, an environmental engineer at the University of Colorado Boulder who studies air quality and airborne diseases.

"We have to be clever about sampling biological material so that it is more similar to how you might inhale it."

Previous attempts were stymied at one step or another in the process. For example, one team tried using a rotating drum to suspend aerosols, and showed that the virus remained infectious for up to three hours. But critics argued that those conditions were experimental and unrealistic.

Other scientists used gelatin filters or plastic or glass tubes to collect aerosols over time. But the force of the air shrank the aerosols and sheared the virus. Another group succeeded in isolating live virus, but did not show that the isolated virus could infect cells.

In the new study, researchers devised a sampler that uses pure water vapor to enlarge the aerosols enough that they can be collected easily from the air. Rather than leave these aerosols sitting, the equipment immediately transfers them into a liquid rich with salts, sugar and protein, which preserves the pathogen.

"I'm impressed," said Robyn Schofield, an atmospheric chemist at Melbourne University in Australia, who measures aerosols over the ocean. "It's a very clever measurement technique."

As editor of the journal Atmospheric Measurement Techniques, Dr. Schofield is familiar with the options available, but said she had not seen any that could match the new one.

The researchers had previously used this method to sample air from hospital rooms. But in those attempts, other floating respiratory viruses grew faster, making it difficult to isolate the coronavirus.

This time, the team collected air samples from a room in a ward dedicated to Covid-19 patients at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital. Neither patient in the room was subject to medical procedures known to generate aerosols, which the W. H. O. And others have contended are the primary source of airborne virus in a hospital setting.

The team used two samplers, one about seven feet from the patients and the other about 16 feet from them. The scientists were able to collect virus at both distances and then to show that the virus they had plucked from the air could infect cells in a lab dish.

The genome sequence of the isolated virus was identical to that from a swab of a newly admitted symptomatic patient in the room.

The room had six air changes per hour and was fitted with efficient filters, ultraviolet irradiation and other safety measures to inactivate the virus before the air was reintroduced into the room.

That may explain why the researchers found only 74 virus particles per liter of air, said John Lednicky, the team's lead virologist at the University of Florida. Indoor spaces without good ventilation — such as schools — might accumulate much more airborne virus, he said.

But other experts said it was difficult to extrapolate from the findings to estimate an individual's infection risk.

"I'm just not sure that these numbers are high enough to cause an infection in somebody," said Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Columbia University in New York.

"The only conclusion I can take from this paper is you can culture viable virus out of the air," she said. "But that's not a small thing."

Several experts noted that the distance at which the team found virus is much farther than the six feet recommended for physical distancing.

"We know that indoors, those distance rules don't matter anymore," Dr. Schofield said. It takes about five minutes for small aerosols to traverse the room even in still air, she added.

The six-foot minimum is "misleading, because people think they are protected indoors and they're really not," she said.

That recommendation was based on the notion that "large ballistic cannonball-type droplets" were the only vehicles for the virus, Dr. Marr said. The more distance people can maintain, the better, she added.

The findings should also push people to heed precautions for airborne transmission like improved ventilation, said Seema Lakdawala, a respiratory virus expert at the University of Pittsburgh.

"We all know that this virus can transmit by all these modes, but we're only focusing on a small subset," Dr. Lakdawala said.

She and other experts noted one strange aspect of the new study. The team reported finding just as much viral RNA as they did infectious virus, but other methods generally found about 100-fold more genetic matter.

"When you do nasal swabs or clinical samples, there is a lot more RNA than infectious virus," Dr. Lakdawala said.

Dr. Lednicky has received emails and phone calls from researchers worldwide asking about that finding. He said he would check his numbers again to be sure.

But ultimately, he added, the exact figures may not matter. "We can grow the virus from air — I think that should be the important take-home lesson," he said.
