I had a great first time in Mexicali. I decided to walk across and do the cab thing. It worked great. I crossed at Calexico POE, grabbed a cab and said La Zona. I don't speak spanish, but no problem. I was taken to the strip club area. I visited three of them: Maui Maui, El Cienga and Kabooza, (please excuse the spelling, I'm probably brutally misspelling).

Nothing going on at El Cienga. But the agenda was the same at both Maui Maui and Kabooza. Went in for no fee. The Sol was 3 dollars (US). The dancers were 6-8 on a scale of 10. I was hit up a couple times and finally gave in to a very good looking chica that kept rubbing my crotch. She sat their topless and kept my hand between her legs. I did order one drink for her. I knew that was going to be a mistake. It was. The drink cost $15 US. Yikes! Oh well, that was the only problem of the night. I negotiated a three-dance deal for $20 US.

The dances were great. She was naked and gave me a very mediocare hand job, but the dance was great and my hand were allowed to roam everywhere. Very fun. She offered FS for $100 US. I said no thanks.

I was there for about an hour. And aside from the expensive drink, everything was all good, including the stage show.

I got out, walked through the border with no wait, walked to my car parked at a shopping area about 1 block from POE. It well lit and no problem. I got in and drove back to my hotel in Calexico. All in all the evening cost me about $60 US. It was fun.

Here's my question, what's a good next night? I saw hotels near the strip bars but did not know if it was safe or useful to walk past those hotels. I've read about BSD, and I might try it. But I'm wondering if someone can give me a couple of suggestions. I'm going to cab it again. It was easy.

Go to Bar San Diego and ask Castillo the waiter to help you. He speaks perfect English. You will not be disappointed! Be sure to give Castillo a good tip.

Don't be surprised if the girls in Bar San Diego ignore you. They don't make a commission (ficha) on drinks. Sit in a booth and look around. When you see one that you want, tell Castillo. Or ask Castillo who he reccomends. She will come to your table and chit chat with you in limited English.

The standard fare is 200 pesos for the room paid to the bar and 500 pesos for the muchacha paid to the muchacha for one-half hour. The one-half hour is enforced by the muchacha. I have never received a knock on the door at Bar San Diego and sometimes I have been in the room for more than an hour.

Sounds like the cabbie took you to the high end titty bars. As Joe stated ask a cabbie to go to Bar San Diego. It should cost no more than $5 dollars to go there. Also another good bar is El Estasblo. I was there last night. Things are slow in the summer as it is hot and most of the better chicas go to cooler cities. The girls in El Establo will sit alone also and you pretty much have to call them over to chat and buy them a drink. There is a small dance floor and they love to dance also. There is also a small hotel with rooms behind the bar much like BSD but the rooms are much cleaner. The cost is $70 for room and chica.

Another good bar is Excalibur which you can take the chicas out. The owner is an American and he is there sometimes. This bar is not in El Centro area. Also the bar across from Excalibur which was called Harras was shutdown. I liked that bar also. Too bad

Another good bar is "Gato Negro" in El Centro which I scored in last night with a nice slender 30 year old. The only thing to be careful of is when buying the girls drinks it can add up fast. The music is very loud in Gato Negro also. In the Centro there are other bars only 1 to 2 blocks from Gato Negro which Jack talks about.

Please read the forum and especially the reports of Joe and Jack as they are very accurate and no BS.

PS Also eat at a Chinese restaurant as they are the best outside of San Francisco I have eaten at. The reason there are so many Chinese in Mexicali is that they were used as labor to build the canals in the Imperial valley in the Early 1900's and they settled in Mexicali. Went Tuesday and started at Centro. Started at 3 ASES and had a couple of Tecate's and a tequilla. Walked around some and alot of chicas wandering the streets. Hot as hell but God I love Mexicali. Had a few Tacos then headed to El Establo. The pickings were slim as only 4 chicas were there at 10:00. I think it is due to the hot weather and alot of the pros head to cooler cities.

Fryer Go straight on Madero from the Centro point of entry heading east. Go approx 4 miles and then turn right onto Justo Sierra. Keep going south and you will see a statue of Benito Juarez. Stay in the left lane and veer to the left. You will then be on Benito Juarez. Stay on Benito Juarez and you will see another statue. Go past the statue and keep going straight on Benito Juarez. Do not veer left as this will take you onto Lazero Cardenas. About 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile you will see a Home Depot on the right and about a block farther is Giau Giau. Less than a block further on the left is Excalibur. Right next door to it is a small bakery. Excalibur is right before the intersection of Benito Juarez and Lopez Mateos. The best time to go to Excalibur is after 8 PM and they stay open till about 5 in the morning.

Sounds like another hot night in Mexicali. I tend to spend some regular time in Mexicali and am usually over at Muai Muai each week. So I do want to mention that there is a vast number of girls that work there with varying schedules. So a different day or night may have a whole new range of opportunities. Watching the shift change from day to night girls (around 8:30 - 9:30) is a great way to fine tune your evening plans. "Copa damas" are $8 at Muai Muai, but if she orders a double, it's $16 each.

I've been an avid reader of the ISG forum for a long time, particularly the Mexicali site. Last week when I was in Mexicali, El Establo raised the price of our hobby. It used to be 720 pesos for 40 minutes paid to the receptionist at the motel. The 720 peso was 500 pesos for the girl, 200 pesos for the room and 20 pesos for the condom.

El Establo is on Lazaro Cardenas on the North side of the street just before the Coca Cola plant. You have to go East on Lazaro Cardenas from Benito Juarez or from Lopez Mateos and hang a u turn at the Coca Cola plant. El Establo is about a half a block on your right after the u turn. Look for a yellow light on an A-frame building. The motel connected to El Establo is Rancho Bodego or something like that.

It has been named El Establo for as long as I have been going to Mexicali.

I had a good time though it was not without difficulities.

If you would have come to El Establo at 9 Saturday night, I was there. 7 is too early for the chicas to arrive. A few arrive between 8 and 9, but most arrive between 9 and 10. The reason for this is that El Establo is one of the few places that one can go in Mexicali after all the bars close at 3 AM and still get laid. El Establo, the bar, closed at 4 AM Saturday night but the girls were in the courtyard of the motel until 7 AM. I was there with them partying.

These girls get a lot of business between 3 AM and 7 AM. They have to work a 9 hour shift so most arrive between 9 and 10 to take advantage of the action between 3 AM and 7 AM.

There is a bakery next to it. Once again not many chicas till 10:00. Most of the chicas there are locals.

Go to an Oxxo store (there is one on just about every corner) and buy the newspaper named La Voz De La Frontera. In the classified section look under "Masajes" for a 24 hour service massage. Some send a girl to your hotel and others are "casas de citas" (***** houses) where you go there and pick the girl that you want to go to your hotel room. Most of the taxi drivers know where the casas de citas are located. So if you don't read Spanish, ask a taxi driver to take you to a Casa de Citas.

Most go for $50 per hour. Some are more expensive.

I hit up Mexicali for the first time in a long while the other night ...I walked around the Playboy Club and up and down the area several of the reports refer to but I didn't really see anything interesting. Again, I'm going to totally trash the spanish here, but I had a great time in Mexicali. Again, I parked my car in Calexica at the shopping centers near the POE. No problem, just park, and walk across. Until the first of the year you only need your driver's license to get back across.

I crossed, grabbed a cab and told him to take me to La Zona. I don't speak spanish, but it was no problem.

I got out and walked to a bar area. I apologize, but I don't remember the name. It's about a block away from the stip joints.

They had a cover charge of about $5.00 USD. The bar had three areas; two were just bar areas with bands, the third area was a bar where scantily clad chicas danced. This was all under one roof.

I hung out in the two bar areas outside the strip club area. This seemed to be a local hang-out. I danced with a number of women that were local....or seemed to be since our communication was limited. It was great fun and there were alot of local women.

I hit on one that spoke english. She was an english teacher at a local school. After about 1 hours of dancing I asked to go back to her car. She gave me a ride to the POE. We had a great make out session and I guess I got her going because she offered to go to a hotel with me. For $40.00 USD we went to hotel near POE. I wish I could remember the name of the bar...but my guess Joe Arturo or Mexicali Jack will chime in with a name of the bar. It was great fun, if you're looking for an experience outside the normal pay-as-you-go reality.

Here's my question: There were a couple references to bars in El Centro??? Is that the El Centro on the US side of the border? Is the bar you are refering to in US El Centro? If so, can you confirm the name and location?

In this case el centro referrs to the old downtown section of Mexical relatively close to the port of entry as opposed to El Establo or Guau Guau which are located some distance from downtown

You were definitely in La Taberna, which is one of my favorite hangouts. Locals go there and the gals that work at BSD, El Establo, Excalibur, Miau Miau, etc , etc, etc go there on there nights off to have a good time.

El Centro is in Mexicali. It is the original "downtown" of Mexicali. It is also known as the zona on this board. Nowadays, the downtown section is Southwest of El Centro and is known as Centro Civico. It is where all of the new government buildings are located.

It seems like now I am spending all of my time in El Establo. I went to La Taberna the other night on a date with my favorite that works at El Establo and ended up at my house afterwords.

La Taberna is located on the street that is South and parallel with the street where the Playboy is located. Spartakus is across the street from La Taberna and El Norteno is next to La Taberna. La Teraza is on the corner of the street and Extremo is on the corner at the other end of the street.

I heard tonight that La Taberna is closed. Something to do with the Security Guards there doing something illegal. I will try to get the real scoop sometime tommorrow.

I have a question for the experienced zone trippers in here. I went to the Gato Negro with a couple of buddies last weekend and there were a couple of good looking girls in there..well lets say they were 7-8's, not many but a couple. The whole time we were there I was itching to move on to the Playboy Club and the butt huts around there so I didnt even bother talking to any of the girls. I even left them there while I went out and scouted around outside.
My buddies told me after we left that the girls there are all working girls...and here I thought they were all civilians who just met up there and danced etc etc!

Not being much of a pick-up artist what is the protocol for taking one of these girls out? Is it all about buying them drinks until you cut a deal with them or do you have to pay an exit fee to the bar?

Have had mixed results there. Some of the "lookers" are there just to bring in men for drinks. You pay for their Saigon Tea and for a dance. Some of the lookers are with the band and not available OR with the band to get the numbers of patrons up. Good looking pussy does attract customers.
I have had fair results there and from my experience ALL ARE AVAILABLE if the price is right. Talk to them and see what happens. I always need to get my blood-alcohol level up so it is no waste to buy a beer with a ficha even if it ends with a rejection. As a side note, the older I get the better I handle rejection and to be "rejected" by some hooker does not hurt my feelings. They probably want to reject me for my low price offers, however, that is the name of the game in business especially when as a gringo I get a high quote for the zone.
As to the "lookers" good money seems to break down inhibitions and there is no harm in asking. If I don't score in one bar there is always another. Also, if you approach the girls all others see that you are at least interested in talking and making offers so many others WILL APPROACH YOU. Then the game gets interesting. Do you reject them? That's when I start to talk turkey.
Civilians. If they are at the bar they are not a civilian, period. Civilians go to Taberna or other bars 1 block South. A close associate of mine once said that there are no "civilians" in the zone in Mexicali. The more your face is seen in the zone the more the women will approach you. I have stood on a street corner and been approached by good looking stuff.
Zone prices are now low with starting prices at $15 and I never pay over $50 for FS. If you go to the high end bars you pay more, what else is new.
Taberna is good if the girl is alone. If girls come in a group they are all there to protect the other and no one gets laid - same rule in U.S. Good contacts can be made at Taberna and it is good for just dancing. The other rule is if she dances well she f**** well.

Another "zona" question...I have spent very little tine in the zone although I know the rest of commercial Mexicali pretty well. I am curious about La Taberna...some posts mention it is a pretty good place to see some of Mexicali's finest professionals enjoying themselves on their days off. So what are the best nights to hit the place? Would that be during the week like Mondays & Tuesdays since those are probably slow nights at the showcase establishments?
I am assuming that the protocol there is to hit on the girls as if they are civilians and take it from there?

La Taberna was closed for a couple of nights last week because one of the patrons shot one of the guards. And we all know that firearms are NOT legal in Mexico.

ThanksI think a commercial flight from Tucson to Imperial or Mexicali would make at least 1 stop, probably in Hermosillo, it would take all day and would be expensive. To me it would not be worth it to procure Mexicali poontang.

If you're a pilot who would fly yourself then you have the option of flying into Calexico airport parking your bird there and getting a less than 5 minute taxi ride to the POE.

But the cost to me is still kinda high unless you really enjoy flying and want to make an adventure out of it.

The economy must really be bad in Mexicali as I have never seen so many women working the streets. Ended up with Lupe who at age 37 complained about all the chicas fighting for business. She never did that before.
Prices are now in the $20-$30 range for FS and the hunting is good. Constantly see fresh and new faces in the 6-8 range. Haven't seen too many top end girls on the street so the clubs must be rounding them up. All of this relatively early for Mexico standards like from 7:00 p.m. (after sundown) on.
Again, hunting is always good in Mexicali.
CLX airport is close to the border but a little outside town. You may have to flag down a taxi or call one. Rosa's Cafe is a good restaurant and is known throughout the aviation community. Call from there. "Calexico International" does not have regular commercial service mainly private planes.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure that Calexico had a taxi service. Quite a few smaller (bigger than you think though) towns don't. I appreciate the huge amount of info that you have contributed to the forum!

As to the costs of flying, Not even thinking of commercial, my plane gets about the same MPG as my car and certainly is much faster. Add to that the complete lack of traffic and its a winning way to go. Since I would be on foot south of the border eitherway, It is an easy choice.

El Establo is now my venue of choice. El Establo has a great stable of fillies right now. The price is 770 pesos for 40 minutes. They have added something new in the bar. They now have privados for 150 pesos per song so you can check out how frisky the filly is before you invite her to the room. My friend Mr. Spikey and I went to Miau Miau last night. It seemed that there were fewer chicas and business did not pick up til after 10pm. The price quoted for FS was $160, but chica immediately dropped that to $120. The highlight of the evening was the chica who danced and then proceeded to pour two entire cervezas over her entire body. She then proceeded to use first one and then both at the same time performing various sex acts with same on the stage. The crowd went wild. Viva Mexico! We then hopped over to BSD. It was crowded but the chicas were abundant, many were young and pretty attractive. Castillo has returned from a two week vacation. I actually chose Camila, who is one of my favorites. All in all a very entertaining evening. Crossed border at 12:30 am. Security on Mexican side was relatively high. Two policia at start of tunnel and two security guards in tunnel crossing. No hassles thats what I love about Mexicali.

My apologies for the delay in adding additional reports. Been on the road. But I'm heading back to Mexicali later this month. So let me thank the board for the El Centro clarification and again thank Joe Arturo for confirming my fun venue, La Taberna.

Let me add my two cents about La Taberna. I think I was the only gringo in the place but never felt uncomfortable or in any danger. Everyone was very low key although the music is very loud. I don't speak spanish, but none of the bartenders tried to take advantage by charging me too much for a drink. My lack of spanish was no problem in hooking up with nice woman. My teacher spoke english which was most likely key to my success with her that night. I'm not sure I would be so fortunate with a lady that spoke only spanish. Just my opinion.

I was in La Taberna on a Wed and Thurs night. On Wed night there was no cover charge and the crowd was much smaller compared to Thur night. On Thur night the cover is about $5.00USD. There is also some kind of strip bar in the back. I just poked my head in, looked fun, but I had plenty to chase in the main bar. The problem with the bars is that appears the crowds don't really start rolling in until after 10pm. That could translate into making a connection around midnight. That's a little late if you have to work the next day.

My teacher was with her friend. They came in separate cars. She works at a local school teaching english. She said her group of friends come in often to the clubs to dance and have fun.

Also, I will add my disappointing experience at Gato Nero. I ended up buying some chick about 4 beers for the privalege of having her talk with me. The bar charges about $3-$4usd for these 4 ounces beers that take the girls about 5 minutes to drink. The girl gets a tip for every beer they convince you to buy. I would do as someone else suggested here on the board. Dismiss the guy working at the bar that tries to hook you up with a girl. There are some cute gals, but sit at the bar, order your own beer and make your own move if you want to try and score.

I was wondering if the other bars around La Taberna are as good in terms of crowd and no-hassle fun?

Joe Arturo, any interest in letting me buy you a beer when I'm in town later this month?

Finally, what's the going rate for the pay-as-you-go ladies?

Most of the bars around La Taberna are ficha bars full of women that are working. There is a club about 3 streets over from La Taberna called Rancho Grande. It is a big place where locals go to dance to Banda and Norteno music. Other non pro bars in Mexicali are:

HiJole on Justo Sierra. There is also a HiJole in El Centro close to La Taberna, but it is new and I haven't checked it out yet. I assume that it is also a nonpro club and probably operated similar to HiJole on Justo Sierra. Locals have told me that they like the Justo Sierra club better. Monday nights is Rock en Espanol. Other nights have Banda and/or Norteno music.

La Mentirosa on Justo Sierra. This is a great place for the younger crowd, say 20 to 30 year olds. I'm 60, but go there on Friday and/or Saturday nights for Rock en Espanol. There is a great group there on these nights. Thursday night is kind of like amateur night. It is a radio station promotion where people from the audience go on stage and sing or play an instrument with the same group that plays on Friday and Saturday night. Other nights is DJ music and/or Norteno music.

Cimaron on Justo Sierra. This club is right next door to La Mentirosa. It is only open on Thur/Fri/Sat nights with Norteno music.

Melinium on Lazaro Cardenas. This club has two rooms. One big one with Norteno music. Some nights the big room is closed and only the smaller room is open. The smaller room has pool tables and Norteno music. Sunday night is Karioke night where people sing along with a live band with the words displayed in front of them on a TV.

Karioke in Plaza Mandarin on Benito Juarez. I forget the name of the place, but it is the best Karioke club in Mexicali. It is pretty large with a huge big screen TV and lots of small TVs for the Karioke songs. I don't know why, but men have to be wearing long pants in order to enter. I tried to enter one night during the summer (when it was 105 degrees at midnight) and could not because I was wearing shorts. I told the security guy at the door to tell the manager that he was crazy. That this is Mexicali, not Hollywood!

I am now officially retired (for the time being) from the ficha and hooker bars in Mexicali, but send me a private message and I will see if I can show you around town. I am presently dating a 24 year old hottie on a regular basis. I am 60 and she keeps me very well satisfied. Boy how I love Mexicali!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopped to Mexicali early on Wed night. Traveled to San Diego Bar. Lots of talent and not many customers. Some new talent young and pretty inexperienced. We chose our regulars and it was a very good time. Would like to check out new talent but several chicas think they own the rabbit and tend to make that clear to all the other chicas, plus they tend to get slightly angry if I even think about variety. Oh well we must all suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. Ha Ha We then proceeded to meet up with another friend Mr. Fuzzy at Miau Miau. the 4 mongerteers ventured across saturday night with full wallets and loaded for the hunt.
a nice walk from the border to the "devil's triangle" of kaos, madonas, and miau miau was first up. we noted several bikers from a well known motorcycle club who come down here on occasion to party with their bros from their mexicali chapter. the rule of thumb here is to be respectful and not to get in their way. they all kept to themselves, were having fun, and we saw no problems.
there are new girls from around mexico at kaos, some of them very good looking but i also saw several who looked like they needed a little road work and diet modification. kaos is known for getting pretty wild on fridays, a couple of weekends ago i saw an impromptu lesbian show there with audience members and the girls even managed to get a drunken young man on stage and peel off all of his clothes...after which they poured a bucket of ice on him with a couple of beers much to the hoots and catcalls of the audience.
note to self: never get on stage!!!
we stayed there for a little while got a cell number for one of the new lovelies for a weekday date when it isn't so busy and then headed over to miau miau which usually has the nicest girls and we were immediately pounced upon by several lovelies who kept our attention for the rest of the night including fs privados for only the price of the dances (we are regulars and they know us) i'm sure the price is higher for people they don't know. there were lots of beautiful women there!!! we had not intended to stay the rest of the night there as it was supposed to be a full on pub crawl but we had so much fun there that we didn't need to go anywhere else!!

If you behave yourself and treat everybody with respect, you don't have to worry about going to a bar alone in Mexicali. For me, it is the safest and cleanest boarder city in Mexico. Make sure that you give whoever is watching your car a decent tip before you enter the bar and you won't have to worry about your car either.

I have been going to bars alone and with others in Mexicali for many years, and the only time I ever had a problem was one night that I was in a very bad mood and got very drunk and began to insult people in Spanish. I got the shit beat out of me, BUT I DESERVED IT!

Imperial County Airport has United Flights from LAX or YUMA. The airport itself is about 20 miles from Mexicali, but has car rental available (Hertz/Avis with Mexican insurance). Yuma is about an hour drive from Mexicali in addition to flights from LAX has flights from Phoenix on USAirways. Palm Springs has flights from most airline hubs (Phoenix, Las Vegas, LAX, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, etc.) and its about 2 hours away from Mexicali. All of these drives are fairly easy (flat on highways or 4 lane roads). San Diego may be about the same distance as Palm Springs, but you have to drive through the mountains with steep grades coming down into the Valley, and can be a bit of a stressful drive.

There is a non-commerical airport in Calexico, right next to the border.

The rabbit slipped across the border on early Thurs. Evening. Accompanied by the Filthy Beast and Goody Two Shoes we proceeded to consume large quantities of tacos. We then hopped to BSD. The early action was very slow. Not many chicas and pretty much the regulars. The Rabbit chose a Samantha (dark long hair, nice body) I think there are three Samanthas at BSD. Greetings,

First time poster here. I have spent some time going through forum but I still have some question regarding Mexicali. I'll be down there for business this week and I wouldn't mind finding some action. Hopefully someone can give me some pointers.

1. How safe is Mexicali for a non-Spanish speaker? Someone is picking me up at San Diego airport and driving me to Mexicali so I won't have a car. Is taking cab to clubs fairly safe? Walking? What kind of fare should I expect if I take cab?

2. One name I keep seeing is BSD, what is the full name of it? If I jump into a cab and just tell the driver I want to go to BSD, will the driver know where to go?

3. Other than BSD, what other places should I try?

4. What'd be the reasonable price for short time (1 hour-ish) and over night?

5. Seems to be unlikely but what if I do run into law enforcement?

Thanks much in advance for any pointers.

1. Mexicali is the safist Mexican border town of them all. If you treat everybody with respect, you will not have any problems. The price of taxi to the various locations depends on which hotel you are staying at and which location you want to go. A taxi ride is generally 5 dollars or 50 pesos. The great spots in Mexicali are not concentrated in one area. They are all over the city.

2. BSD means Bar San Diego and every taxi driver in Mexicali knows where it is.

3. Bar San Diego is great for first timers, but in my humble opinion, El Establo is even better. Bar San Diego is more relaxed and the girls don't make commission on drinks bought for them, so they don't pester you for drinks. El Establo has a better selection of young girls than Bar San Diego. Bar San Diego is good for non spanish speakers as Castillo the waiter speaks perfect English and he is there to help you. Ask him questions and be sure to tip him good.

4. At Bar San Diego, you pay 20 dollars or 200 pesos for the use of a motel room for 30 minutes. The price of the girl is whatever you negotiate with her. Generally 50 dollars or 500 pesos. At Bar San Diego, the 30 minutes is regulated by the girl. Some keep track of it and others don't. I have never had a knock at the door at Bar San Diego. It all depends on the girl that you are with. At El Establo, you pick the girl, find out her name and go to the receptionist of the motel and give her the girls name and 70 dollars or 770 pesos. The receptionist calls the bar and tells the girl to come to the motel. It is for 40 minutes and the phone will ring in the room at the end of 40 minutes.

5. The only problem that I have ever had with law enforcement is pulling me over for bribes. Most of the time, the bribe is warranted as I am driving while intoxicated. But you will be in a taxi and the taxis don't get hassled by the cops. Now if you plan on having drugs in your pockets, you might have a problem with law enforcement.

First time in Mexicali, none Spanish speaker. Armed with information posted here I hopped into a cab and went to El Establo Tuesday night. I arrived at El Establo at about 9pm, the place was virtually emtpy. No one inside the bar spoke English but one of the bouncer outside did. According to him, El Establo is some what slow before Thursday night, that and 9pm was just too early for almost any given night of the week. I ordered a beer while pondering if I should wait or just head back to my hotel first. I finished my beer and asked the English speaking bouncer to call a cab for me. One interesting note, beer cost as much as soda. For someone who has only clubbed in US side that's simply outrageous, US$1.50 for a beer in club is unimaginable. Anyway, bouncer at El Establo told me BSD is about 30 minutes away so I figured by the time I got there, things should have picked up so I told my cab driver to head towards BSD. Driver spoke a little English so we had some interesting conversation on the way, most about his own hunting experience and how a lot of girls have moved across border to work in US side.

Entered BSD and things looked pretty good. About 10 girls inside with only a few guys. I approached bar and tried to look for Castillo. At first bartenders seemed confused but eventually the owner? looking guy overheard me and called Castillo over. Probably a misunderstanding on my own part but I thought being a bartender Castillo'd be behind the bar but that was not the case. At least on Tuesday night Castillo was out on the floor the entire time I was there. Castillo was also a lot older than I expected. Great guy though, would have not been able to get much done without him helping. The girl I ended up with, her name was Camila.

All information found here pointed to usual price of US$50ish + US$20 for room so I told English speaking girl that even though it's my first time in Mexicali and I couldn't speak Spanish but I did do my homework, I checked a lot of information before coming here. The 2 girls started talking again and English girl told me US$50 for her friend and US$20 for the room, I told her okay, thanked and tipped English speaking girl and off to my business. By the way, during course of the time I was there I tipped Castillo total about 50 peso, is that considered an okay amount or should I have tipped more?

Once into the room, I didn't have anything other than US$20 bills on me so I went ahead and gave Camila US$60 and told her extra $10 was tip. Camila started to take her cloth off and she was definitely hot. Can't say enough about her legs, model like long slim legs. Very flat stomach, breasts were not big but great shape and I was very happy to find out her nipples harden as I touch them! She started to work on me and to my surprise, gave me BBBJ. Not sure about everyone else's experience but sadly, I have never been with beautiful girl that also gives great BJ or BBBJ. Hope you have a good time and thanks for the invite but I have to work. There are four that I have used The one that I like the most is Hotel Posada. It is in the centro civico area. It is $60 a night. I like it best because of its central location. My second choice is Casa Blanca which is only $50 a night. This is only 1 block from El Establo which makes it nice. You can also use Hotel Reforma which is in the old centro area and is across from 2 clubs. I believe Reforma will run $35 a night but is not near as nice as Posada or Casa Blanca but is in the centro area. You can also try the rooms at El Esatablo which is right where the club is at. These are small rooms with nothing special but are very clean for $27 a night. If you go to the internet and use the Mexicali city web site Reforma and Posada are listed with there adresses and phone numbers.

I work too many hours! I hate it when I can't go to Mexicali but one time in 3 months. Oh well 3 1/2 more years and I will be living there. Anyhow I went to Mexicali Friday and went to the beisbol game and hit the zona after the game. 3 ASES was hopping and I had to drink fucking coke because alcohol makes my rosacea bad. I was there at Porky's about 2 weeks ago. Inside is very nice, and the girl's changing room is upstairs.

The stage is in the middle, with tables and booth's around the stage area.

I believe it opens around 7 or 8 p.m. Miau Miau & KAOS open in the afternoon
around 2:30 - 3 p.m.'ish.

The beers start at $2.00 and they have bucket specials.

I must say I have found this site and I am glad I did. I do have a few questions for anyone. You can respond here or email me back if wanted. I am new to this all and tired of the ladies here in Phoenix thinking they are god's gift. I have always wanted to partake of the fine Latin women south of the border. I saw that Nogales is a little more expensive so is Mexicali a good place to start. Does any one have any good tips for a beginner. I am 43 and would even think of staying south of the border if it is safe. Is it safe to try this alone. Or can a person put a post here and see if any one is going on the weekend I plan to for a little help. I have a few other questions about the pharmacy's there and possibility of help. I live in PHX as well, and have little respect for the gringas here. Many (not all) are spoiled biotches, and taking your money south of the border will be the single best thing you have done in a long time as far as having a great time with fun, attractive girls.

Having been to Nogales, Mexicali, San Luis Rio Colorado, Hermosillo and/or Rocky Point every weekend except four for the past six months, I can honestly say that Mexicali is an awesome place to begin your hobbying. Nogales, IMHO, is a tourist trap, uncomfortable and dirty, with overpriced women who have been spoiled by the many Gringos who regularly visit. There are certainly bargains to be had, but this is really only possible for the more experienced monger.

Regardless of the specific town, I have had ZERO problems driving into Mexico weekly (buy the mexican car insurance!). I have had a few encounters with the police, but this has been due to random DUI/drug checkpoints (prevalent in and near Hermosillo as well as Mexicali), raids on strip clubs checking chica's IDs (a hazard of visiting TDs every weekend, I guess!), and my ignorance regarding the popularity in Mexico of having two-way streets magically turn into one-way streets with little or no warning. My bad. In fact, I 'interacted' with the police in Hermosillo four times in one day on my first visit there for all of the above reasons. Odd. However, I've never had to pay a bribe, and I've never received a ticket of any sort.

I did have one 'shakedown' in Rocky Point recently (to the point where I had handcuffs placed on my wrists as I insisted on visiting the police station), but I was with my novia from Hermosillo, and her extended family in RP is tight with the 'Commandante', so all was well after a few choice words from her to the policia. Plus, I've NEVER had a problem with any of the locals. YMMV, as they say, but if you make an attempt to speak the language and treat everyone you meet with the same level of respect you expect, you will be fine.

Ok, back to Mexicali ... you will find a TON of useful info on this board as well as www.**********.com . I encourage you to read ALL of the posts, take notes on what establishments you think you might like to visit, and then post any additional questions you might have. Read about the hotels as well, as I have no qualms whatsoever encouraging you to stay at one of said hotels in Mexicali. Walking back and forth across the border nightly sounds like a PITA, driving (without a Sentri Pass) is an exercise in futility, and staying in Mexicali opens your options immensely (TLN, GFE, all night 'dates', etc.).

I've visited the pharmacies a few times in Mexicali, ironcially never for 'Vitamins' V, C or L, but for items for my novia for the evening. Some of these chicas crack me up with all the products they think they need. Anyway, not sure what your need is from the pharmacy, but they do sell the aforementioned 'Vitamins', though from what I've heard the prices are not cheap.

I'll likely be heading down for NYE, but not sure just yet. Costa Rica becons as well. I'm not sure I'm currently paid up on this site, and if I'm not, you can't PM me, but I'll keep my eye on this thread.

I recommend that for pharmacy items that you stop in Algodones on your way from Phoenix. The prices are better about $10 to $11 for the V versus $15 to $16 in Mexicali (100mg). Also while there check out the Green Door club. I have only mongered in Algodones, Mexicali and TJ, but for newbies I recommend Mexicali. Drive (with insurance) or take cab to Miau Miau, Kaozz, Las Juntas and Porkys all in one location. Directions for driving are on other posts. Just give name to cab driver they know where to go. I also recommend Bar San Diego for newbies, Castillo the waiter speaks English and Blanca the waitress also speaks some English. The strip clubs in Mex are relatively expensive, but you just need to learn to say no politely. There are also other clubs as you gain experience: La Cazona, La Cabana, Wiau Wiau, El Nido, La Mosca and La Mosca II. You may also travel to El Establo. Mexicali is pretty safe and I have not been hassled by the policia. I do recommend caution late at night especially when walking across the border, if in doubt don't put yourself at risk. Last weekend I turned around and walked back to La Cazona which is two blocks from the border, because I didn't like the looks of the tunnel at 2am. Crossed successfully later. Also watch you drinks especially if you are alone, just exercise good judgement. I have probabbly crossed both walking and driving over 100 times this year without any problems.

Porky's is across the street (Reforma) from Miau Miau. It has been open for about a week now. Last time I was in Mexicali, I walked by and looked in the door (was with a date so did not enter). It looked like it was happening inside. I met Rico Cafe outside. He might be able to tell you something about it. In any event, it is brand new and looks good from the outside. I'll let you know what its like once I go inside. Miau Miau is on the corner of Calle Mexico and Reforma in the old part of town. Porky's is in between La Conga and Jala La Jara accross the street from Miau Miau and diagonally across the street from Kaos.
Porky's is the newest place in the Devil's Triangle, the corner of Reforma and Mexico right across the street from Miau Miau's (same owner) catacorner from Kaozz, Madona's and it's pool hall is behind Miau Miau's on the side street Mexico. Porky's is catering to a slightly more upscale clientele with new girls and slightly higher prices but that may change with market conditions. All in all a pretty nice place and a welcome addition to the "Devil's Triangle". It was a pleasure to meet "Joe Arturo" outside Porky's a couple of weeks ago. I will probably be there tonight.

Given that I live fairly close to Mexlicali and can "slip away" fairly easily during the day....Do you guys have some recomendations for day time action? It seems like things don't really get going until 10pm, and that's way too late for me in many respects.

Also, in other parts of the world, I'm very fond of rub and tugs....some places give really good theraputic massages followed by a long HJ or BJ....Do such places exist in Mexicali? Places I have been to in Canada, Australia, and Singapore are truly full spas with a bit of "extra" services.....and usually the girls are more attractive because they tend not to offer full service. It has all been said previously on this forum so RTFF. Here goes. Late afternoon on Weekends (including Friday, a pay day) can be good starting around 4 p.m. Hit any bar in the zone and I stay away from the "Titty" bars (Reforma & Mexicali) but some such a Joe A. have done well there.
After 6pm go to BSD and watch them come in. Their rules state workers must arrive by 7 p.m., snooze u loose!
If your espanol is good Taberna is OK, otherwise just hit the zone the women will approach you if you are standing on any corner. Also, some try massage parlors notable is Cleopatra, after POE bear in left lane for about 8 blocks or so. Life is good.
For true day time action get a novia, that will cost you $150-400 a month.

I should be a little more specific about my request for info. Is Cleopatra the only massage establishment, or simply the best? What should we plan on paying? By the way, I think I might have seen Cleopatra. I caught a cab on night as soon as I came out of the tunnel. Ask the driver to give me a little tour. We drove straight down the street I caught the cab on. About a mile or so down the road on the right I thought I saw a sign that said, "massage. " Would that be Cleopatra's?

Also, I ended up having the driver drop me off at this nice place for dinner. It had three restaurants in one complex: Italian, mexican and a sports bar. I believe the sports bar was called Champs. Anyway, the eating establishment was good. I walked around the area a little and there were a number of clubs. Looked like the kind of clubs younger folks hang out in. It was only about 8pm, so they didn't look like they had started hopping. There were also a number of nicer looking hotels. My question is, I'm wondering if those hotels might be good pick up spots for pros and well as non-pros?

Here's the other interesting fact. It cost me a $5. 00 USD cab fee to get over to this area from POE and $5. 00 to get back; about a 20 minute one-way ride. $5. 00 USD is also what the cabbies charge to go from POE to the Zone or strip bars. About a 3-5 minute one-way ride.

Jack knows very little. Here goes. Cleopatra is well known. After the CLX POE proceed left and follow the "Aeropuerto" sign. Proceed straight for about 1/2 mile or so. It is on the right hand side. You will see an Egyptian type face sign, I think it is green/brown, could be wrong about that. It has been about 15 years since I was there. Protocol is to go in and strip, take a shower and secure your stuff. Pick your girl and get the massage and after that haggle over price for extras. The last time I was there and again it has been over a decade the total price was over $100 and that is too much. Price is likely about the same as you are being charged as a gringo.
As to other parlors check the newspapers or PM Joe Arturo and he knows all. The only other one I knew of was past the Walmart going toward the traffic circle going to San Felipe.
Personally I would stay away from the parlors as the prices are high and you can go better in one of the bars in the zone, BSD or the Stable. My point is save your money. The men there are getting shit faced and are poor. You are a king with money and can get a decent woman for $20-$30 or more for total service. Go to a bar, get your BA up, dance with the best looking chica there, ask her over for a beer, either talk or dance some more and then say VAMOS. It's that easy.

Hey Yagami. You got ripped off by the girl that you were buying drinks for. Table dances are 80 pesos (about $7.50) and drinks for the girls are the same price as table dances. I didn't ask the price of private dances because I was with my novia. But I imagine it is 200 pesos. The prices are the same as Miau Miau which has the same owner as Porky's.

Sometimes the greedy bi*tch*es try to sieze an opportunity to extract money from a perceived to be rich gringo and order a double drink that is real, like real tequila or scotch whiskey. These drinks for the gals are 100 pesos or 200 pesos (about $18.00) for a double. I believe that this is what happened to you.

I try to stay away from places like Miau Miau, Kaos, Porky's, El Nido, etc. because the gals there are much more aggresive to steal my money. I like to go to places where I can chat and dance with a gal without her aggresively ripping me off.

Sup guys, this is my first time posting. So I was in Mexicali the other day and stop by Porky's since I seen a few post of it and heard it was somewhat new. While there i order a beer and was enjoyin the show, some good looking girls and some not so good. Around 10 pm I notice this really hawt girl get an the stage, she was smoking hawt and had one of those body's that you just cant keep your eyes off her. Once she got an the stage everyone in the room enjoy the show and the dollars were dropping to get a squeeze from her great eyes or perfect boobs. It took me a while to get her since after the stage she was being requested by everyone. Once I manage to get her to come to my booth I started talking to her while she dance on the table, lots of grobbling in my part. Anyways, I dont come to Mexicali that often or have a money drainin hobby so I'm good in money and try to get her to a room since I remember reading about girls going to rooms in previews post. Don't know why she wouldn't bugde, she just offer a full service private for $160 but I wanted to take her to a room. No luck at all and had to take the private. A bit expensive but since I dont come to this places that often I didnt mind it this one time. Just wondering if you guys know this girl, her name was Megan. What was the deal w/ not going to a room? did I play my cards wrong? and also if you guys seen this girl. I been back 2 other times and had no luck finding her. Will appreciate any info I could get from this girl. I would go for that body of hers again if I just knew her working hours.

Finally made it back to Mexicali. Hurah

Only able to stay one night. During the day hit a Chinese place and had some good tacos also.

Went to El Centro and hit 3 ASES and Gallo Giro. Alot of chicas and had a couple of beers. I think gallo Gira is the better of the two bars. In 3 ASES there are way too many chicas who only want copas. I bought on cute little shit 3 copas and danced 2 times with her. I asked her to go to Kennedy and she did not want to go. Anyhow ended up at Bar San Diego. I pulled into the back lot at about 12:30 and parked my truck. I no sooner got out and took 5 or 6 steps and I heard a scream. The next thing I know I am being kissed and hugged by a chica. She stated "I have not seen you in almost two years. " Now I'm thinking oh shit I remember the face and nice chi chis but not the name. She said " Its Rosa". Then I did remember for sure the night. I looked back at my reports and sure enough it has been 1 year and 9 months. Damned she has a good memory.

So without even going into the bar I give her the $20 for the room to give the bar. She returns and we hit the room. For a lady of 5 ft 9 and 170 pounds she is very flexible and trys many postions and is very vocal. This girl likes her job and it shows. The last time we were together I remember she wanted to get together and show me more of Mexicali.

Same thing this time. She says she likes me because I am big. LOL. I know she must mean because of my height and weight because I know I'm nothing special down stairs (just average). She told me to promise her that I would call her so we could get together. I think she is serious so I am going to call her.

I went and got some tacos at an awsome taco stand across the street from Excalibur bar. Then went back to the hotel where I am now writting this report. I am thinking of making a tour of Hermosillo and Guaymas in a month. There was an excellent report in the " West Coast" other areas section by Tool Shed who took this tour.

Sup all, so I went to Porky's about a month ago and it was great except for the prices. Dances were ur typical 20 dollars but girl drinks were 18 dollars which IMHO is a big WTF!

Anyone been there lately that can give me an update on the prices? I was also scare to ask the girls about full service since drinks were 18 dollars so I would appreciated if anyone can help me out w/ an update on prices including girls full service, thanks in advance.
I noticed the same thing at Porky's, the girls there go for the double drink right away...I had never been subjected to that at Miau Miau's even though it is the same owner. The girls at Porkys started out as being very hot but now they are about the same as Miau Miaus which is on the average very very good! Kaos continues to be the raunchiest of the spots with the low stage that invites a lot more activity. I have gotten my nut in the back room there more than once! The place behind Miau Miaus with the pool hall attached doesn't have the same quality girls as the other 3 in the devil's triangle but it is fun to play a little pool, especially with the very cute "Julia" who I think is the manager...I don't know if she is a "player" or not, anyone else know about her?

headed down last thurs afternoon as planned. headwinds took their toll and it was a bit over 2 1/2 hrs from tucson. left the plane in at cxl, called a cab and checked in at the villa sur for the evening.

got myself in order for the evening and walked across. i took the wrong exit from the "tunnel," then discoved that i had left my cheat sheet (map) back at the hotel. oh, well thats what memory is for. circled a bit to get oriented and found my way to playboy, etc. it was about 5:00.

i went in to playboy for a a couple beers and some water. sonja came to sit with me. she has a few extra lbs but is very cute. her english is not as good as my limited spanish but we talked a bit. bought her a drink but didn't see any future in hanging out there. back outside and hungry.

headed for reforma, outside of miau miau, i asked about a good place to eat. the bouncer didn't think i wanted "real" mexican but i eventually convinced him and he sent me around the corner to el serape. pretty empty that early in the evening but i had a good meal and it definately helped slow the alcohol to the blood.

back at miau miau, i was beset by a young lady that clearly was interested in prying some money from my pockets but frankly she just didn't "do it for me." finally, she got the hint and left. one of the waiters brought over a very attractive young lady named marianna, brunette with a nicely done set of "bolt-ons, a bubble butt, a classic "latina look." she entertained me for a couple of songs at the table but it was a bit too expensive and early to proceed any further. while through a couple more beers i was also entertained by jesse, blonde with rock hard bolt-ons and a very mechanical manner about her. enough money spent there, again time to move.

outside grabbed a cab to bsd, now about 8:00, not too impressed with the place or the selection as i entered. sat, sipped at the beer while watching the selection grow. eventually settled on margarita (introduced as maggy). she spoke the least english of all (but it was fun to work at my spanish), cute with reddish hair and as i would find, quite short out of her shoes. out back we went. she proved to be quite impressed with the flavored party favors that i had and enthusiatically set about trying them out. she proved to be quite excitable and we had some fun in the shower afterward. she wants to know how long until i return.

decide to head to el establo but taxi says he doesn't know. time for a major brain fart, i seem to remember from rtff that el establo is near excaliber and cabbie knows that one. off we go. arrive outside excaliber and poke my head in for a look. yikes! the view is scary. back out of there asking the way to el establo, go down there and then turn at the light. off i go.

now if you are all laughing, i am too (i wasn't then). its a long freakin' walk! finally get there with a clear head 10:00. go inside and wonder what in the hell i just took this walk for. two fugly women and a bunch of guys. oh well, i can drink. sat thru a few beers and the selection was improving. finally caught the eye of erma, she came over and we talked for a bit. her english was the best, fluent in all the dirty words which she assured me she would be willing to inflict on me. i took her up on it. i wasn't took thrilled with the quart of vaseline that she smeared all over everywhere but other than that she made good on her threats.

bailed out of there a happy camper and out of drinking time to take off. hailed a cab back to the port. crossed without incident and walked back to the hotel arriving at midnight. blasted out of calexico at 8:00 the next morning with tailwinds for a quick trip and a light rain.

a good trip, hope to zip down again in the not too distant future.

Little can be found. If you go to a mapping program such as map quest, then
on the left-hand side is one for INTERNATIONAL, then pick MEXICO, then pick MEXICALI. It has a zoom capability and works well. Shows the streets quite well and is a good reference.

Greetings to you all. Got a question which I was hopping someone could help me w/. So I went to Miau Miau and the girls charge me 300 to take them out to a room. Are this how much guys pay? That was a big "Hell NO" for me, but just curious if theres guys who actually pay this much or the girl just try her luck on me.I've found that a LOT of the pricing depends on ME. I've never paid more than $250 to take a girl to my hotel after she got off work, and this means that she stayed for most of the next day. I've even had some girls stay through Sunday night, for example, if I picked them up on a Friday night. Saturday night turned into 'date night' with her skipping work and us having dinner, visiting a disco or listening to live music in a bar, etc. You have to work it, and be somewhat charismatic and presentable. IMHO, $300 to blow your wad once is ridiculous, unless you are truly a very unattractive person or a sucker.

Once on the INTERNET go to a mapping program like mapquest.
On left-hand side of main page is...Maps Outside US & Canada, click on that.
Goto International and click
At Country pick out Mexico from the list and then type in MEXICALI.
Adjust the scale and start at the border as that starts ZONA ROJO.
The bars are easy to find...after crossing POE bear right, turn right for cheap
bars and bear right and turn left on Mexico St for titty bars. Its that easy!

Calafia is a nice hotel so enjoy. You are quite close to Bar San Diego BSD so grab a taxi. BSD is on Rio Culican. Titty bars on Mexico Street back toward the border.

This will be my first time going to Mexico. I'm spending 3 nights in Mexicali and 3 nights in Tijuana. Any chance you can give me the name of the strip bars and their address so I can check on google earth please and thank you.

I'm staying at Hotel Calafia and the address is 1495 Justo Sierra Dr Mexicali Mexicali, Baja California. Your help is much appreciate.

If you look through this thread you probably find the names if not the locations of the strip bars. Two off the top of my head are Miau Miau on Reforma at Mexico and Guau Guau which is on Benito Juarez past Lazaro Cardenas.

When you check into Hotel Calafia, be sure to register as husband and wife and make up a Spanish name like Maria, Guadalupe, etc for you wife. This makes it a lot easier to bring your new wife to the hotel if you so choose.

Experienced monger, but will be in Mexicali for the first time on Thursday, April 3rd through Sunday, April 6th on business. I will also be staying at Hotel Calafia. I have read back through all the posts until May of 2007, but as we all know things can change in a hurry which is the basis of this post. Will someone be kind enough to give me a rough draft of an itinerary of places to go that are in a reasonable distance from my hotel, as I will be dependent on taxis for transportation. I am looking for the non pro bars/nightclubs, where free lancers might be hanging out, lower end strip clubs/puta bars, and where I can checkout the street walkers. I just have always had more fun in these types of places, rather than going to the higher end establishments. I feel you get more GFE at them, and they obviously are more economical on all fronts. I cannot just walk in and pick a girl out and go directly to a room or my hotel. I have to party with them and develop some type of chemistry, which is the GFE. The spanish language is not a problem for me.

My last question is I will be arriving at the airport in Imperial at 10:30pm, and will be not be renting a car, so I will be dependent on taxi service, or any other means the board here might recommend for transportation to Hotel Calafia. If I have to take a taxi, what is the approximate cost, and how do I go about arranging for a taxi to transport me across the border and to the Hotel Calafia?. While reading back through the previous posts, some member mentioned the Imperial airport is 20 minutes away from Mexicali, is this correct?
Thanks Adaptable for the info. I did call Holtville Cab, and they quoted me $60 to $70.00 dollars one way, which is rediculous. If anyone has any alternative ideas, suggestions, or is interested in picking me up I will pay $40.00 dollars for a one way trip. In advance thank you for your responses.

All of the Taxi services out of Imperial Airport are a complete rip off. They will probably charge somewhere in the neighborhood of $60-80 to get to the Calexico border crossing (about 12 miles away). They once charged a neighbor of mine $30 to go 2 miles to his house in Imperial itself.

Unfortunately if you don't have anybody to pick you up (or make friends with someone on the plane), the only other option is to rent a car from Hertz or Avis...and if you're going to Mexicali, you'll have to buy the additional insurance.

If I were in town that week, I'd offer to pickup up.... but I'm away.

I agree the taxi from IPL is very high. You might try calling a
cab company in Calexico and tell them you need a ride to the border. Only other option is to have someone give you a ride into El Centro. Cab service in the valley is hit or miss.
Other option is to rent and driving in MXL is not that bad, get insurance.

restaurants of mexicali:

1. for mariscos (seafood) there is nothing better than los arcos.
2. for italian there is nothing better than mandolinos.
3. for carne go to las pampas, which is a brazilian steakhouse with exquisite cuts of meats.
4. for a great meal in a romantic setting, go to el aquaducto at hotel lucerna.
5. for antojitos (traditional mexican food) with live mariachis, go to el serape.
6. for chinese....there are too many to list here.

if you can tell me a little about her such as her age , education, employment, etc. i can give you suggestions for where to take her dancing after dinner.

greetings to all,

i'm a longtime lurker, first time poster. many thanks to joe, jack and rico for your dependably reliable and useful info. i humbly request corrections of any inaccurate info below. i've confirmed that most of the places referenced are visible in wikimapia or added them myself. below is a newbie's itinerary for sampling mexicali's treats. if you get lost, just keep in mind which direction north and go until you get to the border fence and follow the line of cars back home.

as you enter from calexico by foot or car, the main street with the train tracks down the middle is lopez mateos. say "centro" to the taxi driver. to the right (south) of lopez mateos from the border to the first big traffic circle is the "zona roja" or just "la zona", the red light district. it extends from lopez mateos to the new river (looks like a big ditch). if you see the new river, you've gone too far and are in the least safe part of mexicali. mexicali is safe, don't act stupid and you'll be fine. there are 3 types of attractions in the zona: bars, hotels, and clubs with aspirations of class. they're all mixed together in the zona. most blocks have at least one of each. i can't think of a single block in the zona without a bar. walk in, decide whether to invest in a drink or not, sit back, relax and observe. i dislike loud music, so these places are hit and miss for me, but you can check out the scene in each with no stress or danger. i haven't seen girls younger than mid-20s in these bars, but if you want to hang out beforehand this is the place. activity seems to start slowly at around sundown, with most activity around 11pm-midnight. prices depend on the quality and motivation of the girl, but i've never been gouged in this setting.

there are 6-8 hotels in the zona. as far as i know, only the hotel chinesca is a normal, no-hourly-rental hotel. it's not bad for 30 bucks, but the ac is noisy and it's right above a place with blaring banda music into the wee hours if you intend to get any real sleep. all the other hotels in the zona are for private business: hotel kennedy, hotel alto pacifico, hotel paris, hotel 16 de septiembre, etc. if you see girls just hanging around in the lobby or stairwell, they're waiting for customers. i want to plug mexicali here: you'll never be aggressively hustled like in almost every other part of the world. if you just shake your head "no", she won't bother you. you're free to walk, check them out, and partake or not without pressure. the nearest regular hotels to the zona besides the chinesca are hotel del norte and hotel imperial on the north side of lopez mateos. hotel del norte is fine. i have no experience with hotel imperial. the girls in the lobbies will all start the bidding at either 200 or 300 pesos, depending on their motivation, appearance and how much money they smell on you. for most of them, this opening offer gets you a missionary, most clothes still on, do all the work yourself encounter. some of the older or less attractive ones will perform more for the basic price. almost none of them will negotiate more than the above basics in the lobby. are they concerned about monitoring or peer pressure? i don't know. almost all of them will negotiate more in the room, although you usually have to ask. this goes against all the "negotiate all the details before paying anything" rule that i'd recommend anywhere else in the world. you risk the $20 on the basic plan, but i've found some real pyts that cudda/shudda been in classier places for a bargain. the majority that will negotiate, will usually add on 100pesos per service: getting nekkid, showing enthusiasm, cbj, bbbj, and so on up the ladder. i don't know their limits, but they will usually (75% of the time) go as far as mine. for off-peak (24hours? not sure) hours, the hotel well seems never dry, but the quality can sure be wanting. like the bars, the number and quality of girls start improving at sundown with peak just before midnight.

you can identify the clubs by the guy sitting on a bar stool on the sidewalk by the door. i recommend the same method as the bars: a quick glance to decide whether to invest in a drink, then take it from there. the clubs are either straight strip clubs (look for the stage with a pole lined with seating! ) or dance clubs. in the strip clubs, all the usual rules apply: ladies' drinks cost you, negotiate your price, and away you go. in the dance clubs, any girl alone is looking for a sugar daddy. girls without in groups in the dance clubs are non-pros just out on the town. no harm in trying for a freebie. two last topics concerning the zona: streetwalkers and gays. there are occasionally working ladies just walking around. they're usually either looking for car dates (not as common) or going to a hotel/bar with more passersby to work from. however, you'll also see the druggies, sickies, etc. if you're too drunk or it's too dark to notice, if she's walking around and offers anything for less than $20/200pesos, it's just not worth the risk. i never see them in the hotel lobbies or bars. my theory is that for any of a number of reasons, these girls are not welcome in the bars or hotels. there is at least some gay/tv activity every night in the zona, concentrated in the block around hotel paris, hotel mirage, and the newly opened jangla club. the paris and mirage seem to vary from all female to all male, never mixed as far as i can tell. i can't figure out their schedules if they have one.

leaving the zona roja, the next area to hit is "devil's triangle". that's a gringo term, don't try it on the taxi drivers. just tell them "miau miau". going due north from the big traffic circle bordering the zona, turn right at the big cathedral onto reforma. from the first intersection, you can see miau miau, kaoz, madonnas, porkys and the hotel reforma. i agree with the consensus opinions on all of them. in defense of miau miau, i've never been disappointed by the girls' appearance, friendliness, skill or attitude. it is the most expensive place in mexicali, but you can't go wrong with whatever catches your eye there. prices for the hottest of the hot go from $20 for a private dance in the back ("un privado") to $300 for 2-3 hours of blissful gfe in the hotel reforma across the street.

from there, continue south away from the border along lopez mateos for about 3 miles to the juncture with benito juarez. you'll cross lazaro cardenas to get there. say "guau guau" to the taxi". at the juncture of lopez mateos and benito juarez, you'll find guau guau and excalibur described earlier. dependable entertainment.

head back 1/2 mile north to lazaro cardenas, turn east (right). about 2 miles down on the right, just before the gigantic mall is a lot with 5 or six box-shaped clubs of various monochrome exteriors all next to each other. as far as i know, they're all non-pros. tell the taxi "plaza revolucion".

continuing east on lazaro cardenas a couple miles, on the left is the much-discussed el establo. it's just before the giant "can't miss it" coke factory. they have theme nights: wednsday is "little cowgirls", thursday is "bikini", friday is "baby doll" (lingerie). not sure about the rest of the week, but you get the idea. i agree with the recent reports of the upsurge in quality and quanity of the girls here. $77 buys you an hour of bliss with the cowgirl, bikini babe or baby doll of your choice. friday to sunday evenings after 10pm there are 10-30 girls. other evenings there are 5-15 girls. for the moment, this is the best value for your money in mexicali. very relaxed atmosphere.

from el establo, backtrack west on lazaro cardenas to benito juarez. turn right (north) on benito juarez. 1/4 mile north on the right side is the big university ("uabc"). just past the university on the right and the giant mcdonalds on the left begins the trendy bar, club and restaurant district, or "zona hotelera" to the taxi guys. i'm sure there are pros trolling for local rich guys here, but i've only been here a couple times and can't give useful advice. expect quality music, food and drinks in this area, but don't expect bargains. this district stretches about a mile from the uabc north mostly on the left (west) side of the street that eventually merges with justo sierra. if you reach the border fence, you've left the zona hotelera. if you head back toward the border crossing along madero you'll pass by cleopatras.

there are four other places of note not on this torus route: mosca 1 ("aviacion"), mosca 2 ("mosca dos"), bar san diego, and cleopatras. bsd has been thoroughly and accurately described many times in this forum. i agree that it is the most relaxed and dependable (in terms of quality, price, and availability) site in mexicali. i don't know the moscas personally. any reports from the veterans? i last went to cleopatras several years ago, in 2000 $80 got you an hour of protected fun from a 8. 5/8. 5 chica.

i've never tried to order a "massage" by phone, but i'll toftt if i'm in the mood during the day.

to compare your results in these places, i'm a thin, 40-year old white guy who speaks spanish well enough to communicate but will never be mistaken for a local. i prefer to go as or with a wingman, but usually am in town by myself. i'd be especially honored to buy any of the senior members a drink! by the way, which member was walking around the zona rosa wednsday may 2, 2008 between 10pm and midnight? upper 50s, white guy, white shirt with horizontal thin red or orange stripes, cargo shorts.

for pure newbies to the region: mexicali is hot. i mean temperature. if you have never been to the desert and just arrived from michigan, the daytime heat will pummel you until you drop. stay in the ac. drink clean water regularly. avoid the direct sunlight. look at the faces of the people just hanging around outside in the daylight, they're just blank stares. that could be you. end of sermon.

The only place that I have ever been hassled for my clothing in Mexicali was the Karioke Bar in Plaza Mandarin. They wouldn't let me in because I was wearing shorts. And it was in the middle of the summer in Mexicali.

Yes. Hotel Lucerna also has an Italian restaurant. But if you want Italian, there is none better in Mexicali than Mandolino's.

The food in El Aquaducto at Hotel Lucerna is extremely good and it is a very romantic atmosphere.

Hotel Lucerna also has a little nightclub called La Capilla (the chapel) that has a live group playing a variety of music including rock. Most mid 20 year olds that I have taken there are not that impressed. It is really a good place to pick up the 40 year old non pros.

If she likes rock....La Mentirosa has the best rock en espanol group in Mexicali on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. It can get quite crowded. And on Monday nights Hi Ole has a decent rock group.

Just wanted to add a few good spots to eat in Mexicali for anyone that might not know these already.

Carvao, Brazilian Steakhouse... I like it better than Las Pampas. Great service, awesome meats and salad/pasta bar. Sometimes has live music. Great place to take a date.

Las Brasas, tacos and a few other mexican dishes. Nice relaxed place with awesome tacos, and fairly cheap for a sit down place.

Fontana Pizza, italian food, real good food and not too expensive. There are 2 locations in Mexicali. An older smaller place and a newer fancier building.

A motel recommendation... Motel Olimpo, it's on the highway that heads towards San Luis. Extremely clean place with large firm beds, some rooms have round beds and some have jacuzzis. They rent by the 4 hour block and last time I was there it was cheaper than it had been during previous visits. Around $18 for 4 hours.

Its unclear from reading the posts here exactly where the street girl hotels, such as Nuevo Pacifico and 16 de septiembre are located, particularly in relation to the more upscale bars near the border.

How do you get to the SG hotels? And, are any of them useful for actually spending the night? If not, are there decent hotels near that area?

El Nuevo Pacifico is on Juarez which runs east/west and 16 de septiembre is on Altamirano which runs north/south. Hotel Kennedy is on Morelos which runs north /south and is east of Altamirano.. All 3 are south and west of Lopez Mateos

Thanks. Part of my confusion stemmed from th fact that there are two "Av Juarez" in Mexicali, the street near the border, and the boulevard to San Felipe.

It looks like all of these hotels are clustered near the border and not too far from the more upscale clubs. So ... is it feasible to spend the night in one of these fine establishments?

finally visited the Bar SD, ... it was a monday night, kinda slow, there were about 10 ladies there around 9pm..

Proceeded to San Diego Bar on Wednesday night. Arrived around 9:15. Probably 12 chicas available. Several new girls. I spent the night at the Hotel Nuevo Pacifico, for a cool 200 pesos. For my money, I got a room with an old, but somewhat functional, air conditioner, a bathroom, and a bed. Not really first class, but nothing bit me.

There were a few SGs in the lobby, and they all tried to recruit me as a customer, but none were much more than a 5, at best.

A few days later, I moved a little closer to the Playboy bar, to a hotel nearby, for 200 pesos. This hotel was a little more upscale, but not much. There were TVs in the lobby, but also a couple of SGs. The TVs were the kind without picture tubes, but were very obvious, so no problem there.

I parked my car on the US side, at AA parking ($3), and walked into Mexico. Since I crossed back at 6 am, there was zero wait at the border.

I agree the taxi from IPL is very high. You might try calling a
cab company in Calexico and tell them you need a ride to the border. Only other option is to have someone give you a ride into El Centro. Cab service in the valley is hit or miss.

Other option is to rent and driving in MXL is not that bad, get insurance.
There is a prking lot near the border for $3. We drove from San Diego.

as you enter from calexico by foot or car, the main street with the train tracks down the middle is lopez mateos. say "centro" to the taxi driver. to the right (south) of lopez mateos from the border to the first big traffic circle is the "zona roja" or just "la zona", the red light district. it extends from lopez mateos to the new river (looks like a big ditch). if you see the new river, you've gone too far and are in the least safe part of mexicali. mexicali is safe, don't act stupid and you'll be fine. there are 3 types of attractions in the zona: bars, hotels, and clubs with aspirations of class. they're all mixed together in the zona. most blocks have at least one of each. i can't think of a single block in the zona without a bar. walk in, decide whether to invest in a drink or not, sit back, relax and observe. i dislike loud music, so these places are hit and miss for me, but you can check out the scene in each with no stress or danger. i haven't seen girls younger than mid-20s in these bars, but if you want to hang out beforehand this is the place. activity seems to start slowly at around sundown, with most activity around 11pm-midnight. prices depend on the quality and motivation of the girl, but i've never been gouged in this setting.

from el establo, backtrack west on lazaro cardenas to benito juarez. turn right (north) on benito juarez. 1/4 mile north on the right side is the big university ("uabc"). just past the university on the right and the giant mcdonalds on the left begins the trendy bar, club and restaurant district, or "zona hotelera" to the taxi guys. i'm sure there are pros trolling for local rich guys here, but i've only been here a couple times and can't give useful advice. expect quality music, food and drinks in this area, but don't expect bargains. this district stretches about a mile from the uabc north mostly on the left (west) side of the street that eventually merges with justo sierra. if you reach the border fence, you've left the zona hotelera. if you head back toward the border crossing along madero you'll pass by cleopatras.

there are four other places of note not on this torus route: mosca 1 ("aviacion"), mosca 2 ("mosca dos"), bar san diego, and cleopatras. bsd has been thoroughly and accurately described many times in this forum. i agree that it is the most relaxed and dependable (in terms of quality, price, and availability) site in mexicali. i don't know the moscas personally. any reports from the veterans? i last went to cleopatras several years ago, in 2000 $80 got you an hour of protected fun from a 8. 5/8. 5 chica.

i've never tried to order a "massage" by phone, but i'll toftt if i'm in the mood during the day.

Looking forward to your TR. How do you plan to check out the casas de citas, ie.asking taxistas, buying La Voz de la Frontera?I was there Thursday night on short notice solo, so I only hit a couple of old standby sites: the zona and the Bar El Establo. (1) How does Mexicali compare to TJ or Cd Juarez? I could drive further to either of those places if there's a big value difference.

I've had relatively good luck with TLN in Mexicali. However, the first night is usually the most difficult. Basically, I've visited the strip clubs (take your pick - but Miau Miau is my favorite), spent time and money on the girl of my choice, and then parlayed that into a TLN. Finally to Mexicali again and I enjoyed it mucho.

Was in Mexicali last weekend. Did the Zona, Guau Guau (1st time), and ordered a massage from the Voz de la Frontera newspaper. Stayed in Centro Civico. Drove my own car for a change.

As many members realize Jack does visit Mexicali with some frequency. The lines especially SENTRI are getting long especially from 6-10 pm. Figured it out, everyone is going for the $3 gallon gas so plan accordingly. I formerly recommended to drive. It may be better to park in CLX and take a taxi.

This is true. Having to drive from Yuma, and putting put with the wait time at the POE crossings, I think it's easier to park in CLX, and take the cab's.

One thing is negoiate with the cab driver for a rate, that includes all night riding around. Just ask him or her for the their card and name, with cell number. Make them a decent offer, and you got your limo for the night.

It's work for me and my friends, and saves everyone some time.

I visited Bar San Diego (BSD) last Wednesday night. It was my first and last time. There were a bunch of damas sitting around. But, none were worth a second look. The ratio of men to women was at 1. 5 to 1. At best 1 to 1. Yet, no one was doing anything, just sitting around looking at each other.

I got 1 drink, sat there for 10 mins and left. It was not a good experience. I don't know if I just went on the wrong night. But for now, my experience tells me to not go back there again.

After BSD, I went to La Cabana again. Again, there were about 6 to 8 girls. Only 1 or 2 were 8+, the others were 5 to 7. I still like this place the best because:

1. Unlike BSD, Kaoz, and others, the crowd is "modestly" upperscale. Not the skanky locals that visit BSD or Kaoz.

. Girls are slightly pushy but reasonable. Once you tell them you're only interested in X. They won't try to upsell you into anything else.

3. The waiters are friendly. You feel like you're getting "service" as opposed to someone just trying to rip you off.

Bar San Diego is definetly different than most bars.

The girls are there for one thing only. To fuck. It is not a ficha bar and they do not approach you for drinks. If you ask them over to your table for a drink they will oblige you and are friendly. They are not there to hassle you for drinks. For many people this is a plus. Many guys don't like the loud atmosphere and the women hassling them for drinks like the high end titty bars. I have taken many to the rooms and they are overall just as good in the rack as any others I have had. The girls are for the most part 5 and 6's with a few 7 and 8's. There are times when I like to go to the high end titty bars and have fun and party hardy. There are times when I like to go to Centro and just cruise the streets and bars and maybe pick up a non pro local. There are times when I just want to fuck and don't want to be hassled. That is the beauty of Mexicali, you have all the variety you want and the city is safe.

I did not hear you mention El Establo. It is my overall favorite bar. The women there also do not approach you but it has music and the ladies will dance with you. It is a little more exciting and the women a little more high quality. There is a motel attached to the bar and after the bar closes you can drink and party in the enclosed motel section.

Also I forgot to tell you that the male waiter at Bar San Diego speaks English and is a nice person. If you want a girl all you have to do is ask him. He is also a super nice person.

I just wanted to clarify what you saw at Bar San Diego. What you saw is correct but I wanted to let you know why the atmosphere is like it is.

Haven't been to BSD for some time so after a brief trip to the zone decided to drive a little further east. Arrived a little after dark. Some things do not change and BSD is one of those places. The furniture has not been upgraded in years. Style of old 1950 booths with a few rickety tables in the center.

Attempting a chica count is always difficult as who knows how many are in the rooms and how many are getting dressed or redoing their makeup. My count revealed the normal 15 give or take a few. Of course the guys were mainly sitting around getting shit faced although a few asked the waiter to call their choice to the table. The ration was 1:1 but that does not matter in Mexico. Most guys just hang out and do not make any chica contact. The chicas were dying for work. It must be the economy, no one driving down from U.S.

Park at AA Parking, down the street from UEFA. Its $3 for all night. Then walk the 3 blocks to the border, pass through the turnstiles, and then either walk to the Zona, or grab a cheap cab.I was parking there until I got my license plates stolen. The owner didn't seem to care, and I had to file a police report late that night in Calexico. Wasn't a fun way to end the night. Then had to go to my DMV the next day to get new plates.

I figure someone used my plates to drive their auction bought car. Alot of auction cars get stored at AA Parking, and although it seems secure I don't think it is.

I recommend parking at WalMart and getting a ride to the border. WalMart has security and I think cars are pretty safe there. I've done it many times now even over night and haven't had any issues.

I haven't been to Nogales, but in my opinion:

(a) TJ is plenty safe (as of my visit a month ago)
(b) TJ is a vastly superior mongering destination

There are some pretty girls in Mexicali, but high quality girls are at least as expensive as TJ and in much shorter supply. If safety is a big concern, I'd hit TJ, grab a room at the Premier and order an escort.

If there's any place I would avoid in Mexico for safety reasons, it's downtown Ciudad Juarez.

I can't comment on Nogales, never having been there...

The drawback to Mexicali now is the triple digit heat...

The puta hotels in it's zona are filled with bored chicas who will do you for $25 for basic semi-clothed, 20 min, missionary-only service...Higher end chicas can be had at Miau Miau's ($160 quoted me for a privado) or Kaos or Porky's.

Many mongers prefer Bar San Diego where the going rate is around $60-$70 for decent service.

The streets have some walkers who can be had $20 (you get what you pay for) & the zona bars have some decent semi-pros who will do you for $25, YMMV.

El Gato Negro has some okay chicas (on & off) where the going rate is $50 plus $5 tip to the massero ...I've had decent service & good luck there.

I've felt safe walking around the centro in Mexicali at all hours with the worst thing that happened being a drunk guy muttering "guero" in my direction as I passed him on the street...There are bad neighborhoods but not the heavy ratero activity one can encounter in TJ.

The cops don't seem to be shaking down people (locals & touristos alike) as they can in TJ...Hope this helps.

I have spent much time in both TJ and Mexicalli. The towns are different. I have alot more fun in TJ than Mexicalli, but pussy is pussy and I've had good sessions in Mexicalli. The party is better in TJ, but the party is ok in Mexicalli too. It's just different. You really have to experience it for yourself. I prefer to go to TJ, but I live closer to Mexicalli. Some of the best sessions I've ever had were with a $20.00 Mexicalli street girl. But, I've had hot sessions in TJ also. I've always had better parties in TJ though.

Safety has been more of an issue in TJ than Mexicalli for me. That's because of shakedowns from the street rateros and the policia rateros. I've had guys try to scam me at the Banamex on 2nd street in TJ, a common area for bank scams. I watch where I walk in TJ. I've been shaken down at the taxi dropoff in TJ by the policia and had many street ratero's try and scam me and shake me down in TJ. If you are aware of the threats in TJ, you can handle it. I just keep walking and give the street thugs no recognition. No interaction at all, like I didn't hear them.

I've never been threatened by the drug wars in TJ. The drug guys are not going after mongers. If you get caught in the crossfire, that's just bad luck.

In Mexicalli, I've never felt unsafe. I've walked from the zona to the border at two AM with no problems and no feeling of being at risk. There are less people on the streets, no ratero's that I have ever encountered, and no shakedowns at the taxi dropoff. Mexicalli is a fuck and go town. Tj is a party and fuck town. For me, thats the difference.

I still like to go to TJ more. I just watch my ass very carefully in TJ.

Well first I'll say thanks to both Apache and Commonglass for the info. Well as I know it I've been watching the news (noticias) and the whole TJ situation has gotten me uninterested, but on the brighter side what Apache was saying does give me a little hope to go one day and check it out. The thing is that it was gonna be me and a buddy of mine going we always travel together. Next year we won't be going to Brazil, (due highly because of prices and plane tickets costing an arm and both legs), we figured why not try somewhere close that would not cost as much. Namely TJ because it's the closest and we never been there. But since I have been talking to friends from Mexico that always go there (TJ) they keep telling me it's not safe. That's why I really don't wanna go, but we'll see, I thought about Nogi, but also it's too far for now. So the next best thing is Mexicali. Plus my other buddy that is from there said that him and his nephew would go with us, (they were amongst the people I talked to about TJ), so now they want to go. Hopefully we'll have a good time out there 'cause it looks like that will be where we are going. Thanks again for the info.

After reading this forum fairly regularly, I finally made my way to Bar San Diego on Saturday night for my first mongering expedition into Mexicali.

First of all, getting there was a breeze (around 8 PM). I parked in the well-lite Rotary Club parking lot, walked to the POE about two blocks away, crossed the border, and went up the stairs on the right. At the top of the stairs and down the road a few yards, I grabbed a cab, and to my surprise, I was at BSD within fifteen minutes of leaving my car. It was a $7 cab fare.....and it seemed very very simple. I might choose to drive next time (more on that later)....Basically follow the Aeropuerto signs at the POE and a few miles down, you hit Rio Cuiacan (look for the street sign on the right)...make a right and go down a few blocks (past the Taco Tonto). The sign for BSD is big enough that you can't miss it.

Once there, I felt like I was transported back in time. There were Mariachis playing and the place was lite up in red lights. It felt like the 70's or early 80's...right down to the clothes everyone was wearing. There were a few ladies that were dressed like a Pat Benatar video. There seemed to be about 10-12 girls wondering about (about 60% of them were a little chunky). I ordered a beer, and hung out for a while. I didn't speak with Castillo, but I noticed him talking to a couple of Americans.... I'll know who he is next time (He is much older than I expected).

Did an evening in Mexicali again, and had a great time. First off, I parked at the Lyons Club parking lot next to the club itself. Seems like a lot of young club goers park there as well. It's well lite and patrolled by Border Partrol because it's along the fence. Then I walked 2 blocks then into Mexicali.

Once across, I grabbed a cab and said "El Establo....cerca de la Coca Cola"...The car driver said "El Bar El Establo?"...and I said "Si"...He knew exactly where it was. The ride took about 10-12 minutes on what seemed like highway all the way, and you pass it right before you get to the Coca Cola factory. Cab ride was $7 (try to bring a lot single dollars with you. I ran out towards the end of the night and gave the driver on the way back $10). It looks like a typical motel with a sign for the "El Establo Bar" in the front.

The bouncer at the front did a quick metal/gun detection scan on me, then I was inside (about 20 mins since leaving my car in Calixico). So comparing El Establo to BSD, it is a smaller bar with loud music playing and the occasional girl doing a pole dance (clothed for the most part)...also tacky porn playing on a couple of TVs. The waiter sat me down right in front of the pole, and I scanned the room of about a dozen girls....all which seemed younger than BSD...only about 7 guys in the place. Most of the ladies were attractive (6-9), and only a few cubby ones....generally, I'd say that the quality of the ladies seemed better than BSD, but it is further away from the POE, and I think decent Spanish is probably more necessary than at BSD. I think driving could probably be fairly easy, but I want to get used to the lay of the land before I attempt it.

Well I made my first trip to Tijuana to monger. I had some papers to sign in Tijuana with my attorney for land I bought in Ensenada. I drove my car and stayed at a hotel in centro named Hotel Hacienda de Santiago for $42. It was humid and stuffy and had no AC. But since it had private parking I stayed there.

Arrived in Mexicali via the 86 south and fine town of Calexico about 3pm. I truly like Calexico. I spent about 3 years there in the mid ninties and grew to love all the inside political happenings in that town, Calexico is a VERY interesting place.

I am on a little trip to Palm Springs and would like to go down to either Mexicali or Tijuana (or both) Thur, Fri and Sat. Anyone have any recommendations on basics for a monger that has not visited either? I have read the post on both and it seems Mexicali would be a better place to get my feet wet w/o getting mugged or kidnapped. First time heading south to monger but I feel pretty confident after studying up on some the post provided by the experts. Purecountry, you didn't indicate your spanish skills level. This is important if you are in Mexicali though not so much in TJ

If you're a newb with no spanish, I'd recommend Tijuana. Park on the US side, grab a cab once you cross over & tell the guy "Adelita's." You should be safe as long as you stay in that area, don't act obnoxious, or talk to the street hustlers, get too drunk, etc.

In Mexicali, many go to Bar San Diego but it's better if you know some spanish.

You go about 5 blocks from the POE on Blvd. Lopez Mateos, turn right onto Altamirano (at the Tres Hermanos). Go two blocks to Lerdo de Tajada, turn left. Occaisional walkers are in that stretch up to and on Moreles to the right. Hotel girls stay in the doorways at the Septembre 16th, Altimirano, Paris, Kennedy & others.

It's not like TJ. The girls don't line up. Semi-pros can be found at Tres Aces, the Playboy Bar, etc.

Guidos, I honestly don't know if Bar SD's open during the day. The hotel girls are always available & few SG's roam around during the daytime but most are out at night. Remember the climate of this town is triple-digit hot during many months so it's "zona" is geared to come alive at night.

Just wanted to let ya'll know that I went to Mexicali for the first time this weekend. What a place! I am so impressed by the ladies over there. I've been going to Nogales for a while now and have gotten used to over priced ladies that hound you and try to pressure you into purchasing their survices. Mexicali is not that way at all! I'm an enthusiastic hobbyist from the east coast who loves latinas. I've been to Nogales numerous times, Nuevo Laredo and TJ once each. Arrived in San Diego about noon on Saturday Nov 6th, and paid the additional Mexican insurance on my rental car ($25/day -ouch). As it turned out the driving was mellow in Mexicali so I never needed it, but I didn't want to take a chance. I headed for Mexicali over I-8. Beautiful day, beautiful drive. From sea level to 4,000 ft back to seal level in 90 minutes. Amazing desert/mountain landscape of giant round boulders that must've rolled for eons on what was then the sea floor. Cool.

PESOS VS. DOLLARS
I'd read that pesos are necessary in Mexicali so I stopped at one of the many exchange shops along 111 in the border town (Calexico) and turned $200 USD into pesos at 11.25x1, figuring I'd keep the rest of my cash stash in USD until needed. As it turned out, everywhere I went I could have used dollars. But they tend to exchange at 11x1 in the regular businesses (restaurants, etc) and 10x1 in the sex business. So using your 11.25x1 pesos for sex transactions at 10x1 is definitely the best value. If she says $20, give her 200 pesos. It worked for me.

HOTEL
Border crossing was fast and easy. Drove to Hotel Lucerne where I had booked a room in advance thru Expedia. $70 plus tax came to $78.40. Nice room on top floor w/ balcony overlooking small but well-kept pool. Carlos the bellman speaks great English so I had him show me the locations on a map of all the hobby spots I'd picked out in advance. That helped me get my bearings since they are spread out all over Mexicali. He said hotel security keeps an eye out so that guests don't bring unregistered visitors back to their rooms. I will pick another hotel next time so I can "eat in" if I want.

DRIVING
I agree with former reporters that driving is a must unless you know exactly where you want to go and don't want to move around a lot from there once you arrive. You could do that if you want to stay in the Zona where there are lots of ficha bars and SG's. But there are a number of other interesting venues to practice the craft around town so I will always try to drive on future visits. The driving itself was easy. No different than the average US city and much easier than many (Boston, NY, etc). DRIVING TIP: keep your eye out for their Stop signs. They are smaller than ours and not as reflective. You could easily drive thru one and get in a bad accident. Then you're toast.

SATURDAY TRIP REPORT
Left my hotel by car about 4 to drive to as many of the hobby spots as I could so I could see them in the daylight and get used to Mexicali traffic, etc. The maps I downloaded from the web were critical. As it turns out the places were mostly in small clusters with a few outlyers. All within 20-30 minute driving radius.

ZONA
First I scoped out the ZONA, which is about 10 square blocks in the old part of town they call CENTRO. It looks like the tattered-around-the-edges parts of Texas towns like San Antonio. Lots of people on the streets. Best thing for a newbie is to drive it to get the lay of the land, then park and walk around. The main venues here are ficha bars and SG's in hotels. There is a large disco called Terraza on the 2nd floor of a building also.

BARS
The ficha bars in the Zona are all based on the same theme. You enter and are shown to a booth or small table around or near a dance floor or stage. There is also a bar w/ stools. Girls want you to buy them drinks (generally 50pesos / $5). You can dance with the women if you want. Although I read that the scene is not aggressive, I was regularly approached either by girls or by waiters asking me to buy drinks for girls. I look pretty gringo so I suppose I had a target on me.
I spent time in Playboy, Gato Negro, 3 Aces and Gallo Gira. I enjoyed Playboy the best because girls would strip on the dance floor. I went up to one of the raised booths along the back with a tall, slender 26 year-old brunette and had fun for about 15 minutes, the time it took her to finish 2 of the $5 girl drinks, little pony bottles of Tecate. She let me feel her top and bottom (skin-on-skin but no digital insertion) and lick and suck her nips. She did not reciprocate with any handling of my eqpt. The hotels with the largest and best selection while I was there were Paris, Pacifico and 16th September. Others had fewer and what they had was nas-ty. Sometimes of questionable gender. There are women available as early as noon but the quantity definitely picks up in the evening.

OUTSIDE THE ZONA
I left the Zona and headed for the strip bar Miau Miau on Sat night about 7 to see what it was all about. It and Madonna's are around the corner from each other in an older part of Centro a few blocks east of the Zona. Near Hotel Reforma. Décor of the place is like a better-than-average US strip club. I ordered a beer from a nice English-speaking waiter who I tipped $1 to get on his good side. I'd read that the girls in these strip bars are 9's and 10's but that they don't approach you so I figured I'd befriend a native guide. Well so much for hearsay b/c within 2 minutes I had a girl asking me if I wanted company, just like in stateside joints. She was nice looking, an 8 by normal measures. I've been to both and TJ seems much more like a transient's town. In Mexicali, I've met more nativas born and raised there.

Hoping to head for Mexicali before the end of the month -- first, profound thanks to everyone who has posted information on this forum, so that it was easy to decide exactly where to go and what to do to best enjoy the women, food and culture Mexicali has to offer.

Just have one outstanding question I'm hoping someone can give advice on -- my plan is to park in Calexico but head straight over the border and stay four or five nights at a hotel in Mexicali. I will be driving a rental car, and with my plans for activities it seems cheaper and easier for me to walk and use taxis in Mexicali than to pay the additional Mexico Insurance for six days.

So ... I'm looking for a reliable, safe lot to park in in Calexico for multiple days in a row -- I saw the recommendation in the forum for AA Parking, but also the negative report that someone had his license plates stolen there.

Any other recommendations for a safe place to park a car in Calexico for several days in a row?

Am I right to assume that when you leave a car in one of the lots on the Calexico side, you get something like an "entrance ticket" and just pay when you leave for the number of days you left the car there (or do you have to tell them up-front how many days you're leaving it and pay in advance?)?

Suprised at there are no reports since my last.

If you do a search on this forum for Bar San Diego I'm fairly certain you'll find the directions. I know how to drive there myself but not sure my directions will be complete enough for you. To give you an idea from the downtown Port of Entry you drive east on Madero to Justo Sierra where you turn right.
Continue on Justo Sierra until you come to Calzada de Las Americas where you turn left. Continue on Las Americas until you get to Rio Culiacan where you turn right. Bar San Diego is in the 900 block of Rio Culiacan next to Motel Las Dunas.

I am glad I decided to go to Mexicali this Friday and Saturday.

here is the most direct way. once at clx poe set mark your speedo, follow the aeropuerto sign (bear left) and travel to justo sierra. that is about 2 miles. proceed straight for another 1.7 miles and turn right on rio culician. befiore the turn you will see a sign world traffic, a guy in a suit. get ready as you turn at the next right.
after the turn go .4 miles, bsd on left.
remember from the poe you are going straight for about 3.7 miles. if speedo error in your car just turn right go 3-4 blocks and look foir tacos tono, bsd is around the corner.

Sorry guys, never got around to posting my last trip down on Jan 2. Flew into Calexico, crossed and taxi to Hotel La Posada. Decided it would be easier (safer alone) to not cross back late, besides I wanted to try to score a TLN.

Started out about 8 and made the rounds of the ficha bars as Jack had suggested but really didn't see much that interested me. Various bars had the following characteristics, too many heifers, too loud, too few women, boring, etc.

Headed for the devils triangle and ducked into Miau Miau for a couple beers. Not much intriguing talent there, talked to a hawker outside of La Mosca and he said still too early but head toward the border and then go left until you see the Oxo and there is a place across the street.

I decided to look into Kaoz first and was disappointed in the quality of talent there as well. So off I went North then left and arrived at the "club", can't remember the name but it was big and really empty inside with a couple of older women hanging out. Left there and did the whole circle again.

Wound up back at the triangle again thinking that I would have a beer or two at Porky's before heading to BSD and points south. Never made it past Porky's...Lots of much nicer women in there and then I saw a vision of perfection. I don't know how, but I talked her into leaving early and headed back to the hotel. The next morning, she gave me a ride to the crossing and after a short wait I was back in the US.

Went to Mexicali Thursday and got some tickets for the Serie del Caribe baseball tournament in Mexicali starting the 1st of February. It is a tournament of national teams from Latin America countries and lasts 7 days.

Also hit BSD late at night around 1:30. On my way there I was heading north on Culiacan and 2 streets before I got there the damned policia pulled me over. I thought shit here we go. But I remembered the advice Mexicali Jack gave me a couple years ago and it worked great. The policia told me I ran two stop signs and that it was $100 for each one. He told me that I had to go to the police station. I pretended to have much difficulty understanding him and told him I only had $10 and had a little more for dentist tomorrow. I flashed the $10 at him and he said no I had to go to the police station. I played dumb and we continued to haggle. I said "OK lets go to estacion I will follow you". He then told me to turn off my interior lights and give him the $10. I did and he was gone.

Any how contiued on to BSD and some hotties including Esmeralda who I had last week were there. But I wanted some variety so waited for about 15 minutes and had a couple cevezas.
