Do not take the security warnings issued by the United States goverment to heart, because for the most part they are full of shit. It is dangerous, as I am sure you are well aware of in the border areas of Mexico and the United States, but that is it. I spend a couple months a year in Colombia for example, and have never seen any type of violence, but the United States goverment will lead you to believe, you are going to be kidnapped and killed if you step foot into the country. The same goes for visiting Venezuela.
In the resort areas of Mexico, do you think for a minute that the goverment of Mexico is going to allow any violence towards tourists?. No, obviously is the answer, as tourism brings in to many dollars, and it is what makes the economy thrive in cities such as Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, e.c.t.

It looks like you have the same problem that I do UrbanWildlife, in that you call Mexico and Colombia quite often, and therefore get the Country Codes mixed up.

So, for anyone calling the recommended cab driver while in the USA , you will dial, 011-52, and then the number, as opposed to 011-57. Who knows, it may not be a bad thing if you misdial, in that you will probably get a hold of a hot Colombiana (since about 9 out of 10 Colombians are always perfect)!

Also, I’m hoping that someone answers Exthalmus’ question, and in particular, gives specific places where Tourist Women hang out. How much does a Jungle Tour cost, and what Jungle does it travel to? And most importantly (to also answer Exthalmus’ question), what are some bars that tourist women hang out?

There's little concern for your safety inside the compound. After 11 pm there are plenty of folks around and 1 or 2 taxis waiting. I've even made the long lonely walk from the bull ring to La Zona with nary a problem. But with the economy in the pits these days I'd recommend taking a cab.

Given the choice, I would chose Sunday over either Monday or Tuesday. Monday and Tuesday can be fairly slow with fewer girls and customers.

I told what happened to the guy at the front desk and he said I probably won't like the Zone Roja but that he'd take me after his shift if I wanted. He's been to Hysteria in the past and said Aqua was better. Luckily that's not too far from the zona. A guy at Senior Frogs pointed me on my map to Juniors and I'd thought it had closed. So I stopped by Candy's and Aquah last night just after 10pm. I was the only guy there not working. I had a ggod trip and it improved by the next weekend. On Friday I met Nacho (libre) and I started telling him about my lack of mongering in PV. The lily massage you speak of is on the same block as an oxxo and yes, I have been to that one too with no extras. It doesn't even have private room and the massage was no good. There is just a curtain seperating the massage beds. The girl was young and cute tho and I asked her to remove the towel and she looked at me as if I was the excorcist.

I even posted up in my car a block away with clean view for about 10-15 minutes and witnessed nothing but occasional car driving by. It does appear to be opened though so maybe SW's were busy servicing or just wrong night of week or bad luck.

Also drove through "La Aurora" area behind gallerias vallarta which is a poor mexican neighborhood. Only saw small groups of men standing around and looking back at me. Nothing promising. Saw 1 or 2 girls walking alone but never gave "the look" or even a glance.

However, I did see many hot girls walking on the malecon so those hunting in the bars should have better luck. I can't do this for privacy reasons. Also considered going to zona rosa as the area looked busy but didn't want to go alone. Also, I am searching for BBBJ and have found it easiest to get from SW's.

I called musas massage and was quoted 1200 per hour & 2200 per 2 hours but did not partake.

I found a massage place that girl gave HJ but I have been back but she is never there and the other girls won't do it. I only gave her 500 pesos total for 1hr massage and HJ but I think she didn't feel it was enough so don't know if I will go back. Yes. That place that starts with "A.." something near the pier is a dump, IMHO. Went there three times. Never found anything over 4-5 but this was last year.

Just look for it here!Yes, you could try Las Antorchas which is within short walking distance from the cruiseship terminal. It is kind of a patio bar where the hookers hang out in wait for the cruseship employees/passengers. The place is really hit-or-miss on girl quality (often a miss). But, you never know: you just might get lucky. Anyway, it won't cost you anything to walk inside and check out the scenery. Beers/drinks are relatively cheap. If you see a girl that suits your fancy, you can buy her a drink and make small-talk and/or walk with her to some rooms located down a long pathway behind the bar.

To get there: When you leave the cruiseship terminal area, you will walk about 100 yards down a small side street (along with most of the other passengers who didn't hail a taxi) until you reach the main road. On the other side of the main road, you will see the San Javier Marina Hospital. Cross the main road, at the traffic light, turn right, and walk about 100 yards down the sidewalk until you reach Las Antorchas. There is a vacant dirt lot, that sometimes has cars, between San Javier and Las Antorchas, along the main road. Las Antorchas only has a plain wooden sign next to its entrance, so don't expect lots of neon lights that make the place stick out like a sore thumb!

I was in PV several weeks ago, and after the post on Candy's having a place in Bucerias. I had been to the PV Candy's directly across from the marina entrance many times on past trips. I had a car and cruised around Bucerias on two afternoons and was not able to find it. I asked a few locals who did not know of it. So I am still curious whether it exists.

Bucerias is about 10 miles north of PV on the main coastal highway. The road cuts through part of the town. I did not see anything along this stretch of road. As an aside, Bucerias is a great little town for some really good restaurants, shops and bars and sits along Banderos Bay. And no timeshare salespeople to harass you! A good place to take a S.O. or date.

Will look forward to having further clarification on Candy's location from someone with better intel.

Thanks Don for all your time and efforts! :) Mar y Tierra is my favorite cantina style bar in Puerto Vallarta. Every night I was in Puerto Vallarta I went there. :) They serve botanas (appetizers) that were super good, and they are free with your drink of choice. Also they had a few nice looking waitresses. For those that do not know about Mar y Tierra, it is a normal Mexican style bar that caters to the locals, and it is about a 2 miles at the most from zona roja, Las Alazenas, Stravaganza, and so forth. If you use the taxi driver Rogilio that I mentioned in my previous posts, he will know where it is. It is in a outdoor style setting, and just a good place to relax and have a beer while experiencing the Mexican culture.

Candy's is nolonger the place it used to be. Went there at midnight during midweek. According to the guy at the front door There are supposed to be 26 girls working. Paid my $20 US cover. This gets you a free tequila shot at the door, once you get upstairs to the club. The guy there says there are 16 girls working ( and it is not my Spanish ). Once in, I realize that I am the only customer there. It feels Wierd to be the only guy at a stripclub with music blaring and disco lights going. Anyway, there are may be 10 girls working. There are about 10 guys working the club including waiters, closers, dj etc. Someone dragged a bored Chica to get up on the stage to move around a bit. Another Chica was showed my lap by the friendly waiter who asked me three times in the last 5 min what I wanted to drink. Now he wants to know if I want to buy a Chica drink. No thanks. She was not my type so I sent her away. I waved at Celeste from Acapulco, 22 nice body, no kids but a mediocre face. She gave me the free lap dance, which was fine. The prices after that are $100 for 15 min which includes a CBJ and $200 for 30 min which includes FS. I opted for 15 minutes and she took me to a room outside with a couch. She was friendly while chatting but her perforamance sucked ( no pun intended) she was very interested in a take out but I was not.*

i was at the front desk of our 4 star all-inclusive hotel around midnight, changing dollars to pesos. a guy walks up at the same time with the bell man in tow looking for translation help. he is north american in his late 20’s or early thirties and slightly drunk. he wants to get laid and he wants the bell man to “hook him up”. he looks at me and says, “how do you say hook me up in spanish?” i have no idea so he proceeds to demonstrate the three of us his desires by using pelvic thrusts. the hotel staff now get it.

this north american explains that he wants the girl to come to his room. the desk guy explains that it is $63 us for a guest. once he got the ok from the guest, to my surprise the front desk guy pulls up out a candy’s card and starts to make a phone call. now i am curious. i ask him what the plan is and he tells me that he is calling them to see if they can send a girl! wow! that is news for me and i thought some of you may find this very useful.

(now he is confirmed drunk). the security guy walks over and says something to him which i can’t hear as i am obviously trying to distance myself from my new friend (i must not be a good wing man). apparently he had to part with 100 pesos to keep himself from getting in trouble with security. i thought it was hilarious.

i already reported what happened to me in stravaganza. my new buddy was horny but was offended that the prices were “so high”. he says he just wants to look but wants some white powder! now i am getting restless and a bit nervous. the cabbie, who accompanied us into the club at my buddies insistence, is ready to supply. 10 minutes later a small amount was going to be purchased for 200 pesos and the transaction was going to happen in the club. i wanted no part of this so i walked out and went to taboo.

Thanks for the posts, Vitrea. I know just how you felt as the only customer at Candy's Girls, or any other high-end club for that matter. It's a really awkward situation.

Strangely enough, in a low-end club, like one in the Zona, being the only customer isn't so bad. I guess it's because one doesn't feel the pressure and he can spend time just talking with the girls. Unlike in the high-end clubs, there's not a room full of well-dressed waiters and pushy, commissioned pimps.

In my opinion, you were right to shake loose from your new-found friend in the Zona. Carrying drugs inside the Zona is such a bad idea. The police make frequent visits and sometimes enter the clubs to do pat-down searches of the customers. On two different occasions, I was searched, along with a couple of dozen other patrons, while inside Stravaganza. On another occasion, I was searched while walking in the Zona parking lot. Fortunately, I was always clean and the cops always let me go.

One night, I couldn't even enter the Zona. I was turned back at the entrance because a big raid was in progress; where all patrons, and their vehicles, were being searched before letting them leave.

Even if you didn't have anything on you, just sitting at the same table as a guy carrying drugs could cause problems: i.e., the guilt by association thing. At worst, everyone could go to jail. At best, there would probably be some hefty bribes to pay to avoid getting hauled away.

Taboo: Cover is 280 pesos. 50 more than Aquah. I pay that and go in only to find that there were only 10 to 12 girls and the place was dead. I did something I have never done before in a strip club: Right at the door I told the bouncer that I am leaving and asked for my money back. He still had the cash in his hand and I was about to snatch it from him but he just gave it back to me. I think he was caught by surprise. I just walked over to Aquah, 2nd night this week...

They offer 10 minutes of "lap dances" in a private area, fully clothed for $100 US. Anyway, these places are too overpriced for me. I do enjoy the ambiance, music and vibes of a high-end joint such as Aquah but I fid myself spending a few dollars for "chica drinks" and some grope time. It is a reasonably priced hotel that I would highly recommend. The rooms are actual suites with a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and bedroom/bathroom, cable tv, and air conditioning, and the place does have a pool. I have stayed here probably 20 times, and it is guest friendly. I obviously liked it, having stayed there so many times. It is a basic economically priced hotel, in a very secure and popular area, and it is in my preferred area of Puerto Vallarta. It is located in what is referred to as Old Vallarta. The beach, Los Muertos, which is the most popular beach in Puerto Vallarta, is a short 10 minute walk away The cost last year was 500 pesos a night, and I confirmed moments ago that they raised the price to 600 pesos with this being high season. When I called them they initially wanted 690 pesos, so make sure you negotiate with them. In making a reservation by telephone it might be a good idea to get the name of the person you are speaking with, and to see if she/he can send you confirmation in the way of a fax, or email, with the rental rate you are being quoted. They are under new ownership from when I stayed there last. Also, located a block away is the supermarket "Rizo" When leaving the hotel take a left and a half block down you will find the best burria tacos in the world in my opinion. The taco stand is called "Robles Birria or Robles Tacos". They are only open in the mornings, as they are so good they run out at about 12pm.

Another economically priced hotel you might want to try, and I also highly recommend is "Hotel Posada Roger". The actual address is Basilio Badillo 237, Puerto Vallarta 48380. Telephone number is 322-222-0639. Email: posadarogeratyahoo.com I called the hotel to confirm pricing and the price is sixty dollars per night. You will also be able to negotiate with them once you are there. Below is a couple of links, one to "Travel Advisor" for a review, and the other is a link to the website of the hotel. It is located next to the best breakfast restaurant in all of Puerto Vallarta, called "Freddy's Tucan". Anyone around this area of the city will recommend it to you, as the food is that good, and it is priced reasonably.

The hotel "Roger" is an older hotel that is very clean, has cable television, air conditioning, hot water, and there is a roof top pool. This hotel is located 3 or 4 minutes from the beach "Los Muertos" that I spoke of above, and one block from the restaurant and sports bar called "El Torito".

I know many people like to have firm plans in place, but my suggestion is to go to "Hotel Posado Roger" or "Hotel Estancia San Carlos", and if you cannot negotiate an acceptable rate for yourself, check out the other hotels that are in this area, as there is an abundance of hotels within a few minute walk of each other. All these hotels are economically priced, and are local hotels that are very safe and secure. I know you can secure a hotel room for fifty to sixty dollars a night in any of these hotels, and they are all guest friendly, and you will find yourself very happy with your accomodations.

The other thing you can do is rent it for one night, and then after you have checked in, check out the other hotels around you, as it will not be hard to spot them, or you can ask any taxi driver in the area for a local economically priced hotel that is with in walking distance of the area you are in.

I can't think of the name of it, but there is another nice local hotel that is close to the popular restaurant called "Cafe de Olla", a block, to a block and half walk from "Hotel Posada Roger" towards the beach. This hotel is a minute walk to the beach, a 3 to 4 minute walk to the popular gringo bar "Andeles". I know last year the pricing structure here was around fifty dollars a night, and it is also guest friendly.

Hotel Azteca Puerto Vallarta is located on a street called Madero 440, in what is called Zona Romantic. The telephone number is 322-222-2750 This is a more economically priced girl friendly hotel that is very clean, popular, secure, has cable television, ceiling fans/no air conditioning, (you will not need it) and where you can feel very comfortable walking around. Many people who come to stay in Puerto Vallarta for the entire winter stay here. It is very close to restaurants, markets, taco stands, stores, and is about a 15 minute walk to Los Muertos Beach, and is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel "Estancia San Carlos" As an added bonus, just a block away you will find the "Hotel Erendia" where girls working the street will B. They hangout on the street around this hotel. I have also stayed at this hotel so I am very comfortable recommending it to you, and I just called to get pricing information, and it is approximately twenty five dollars a night for one person, thirty dollars for two.

One last note: These are local hotels, and all the ones I mentioned above are within a 15 minute walk of each other, and there is no need to make reservations in advance. You will want to stay in areas labled Centro or Old Vallarta, Zona Romantic, Olas Atlas, Los Muertos beach area, and Conchas Chinas. Conchas Chinas is one of the weathier areas of Puerto Vallarta, but you might have to take a 5 minute taxi ride to get to any of the areas I mentioned above, as Conchas Chinas sits up on a steep hill. I highly suggest you take this advice as well when searching for hotels on any of the search engines such as Expedia, Orbitz, Kayak, or Travelocity. DO NOT RENT A HOTEL ROOM or an apartment in what is called Nuevo Vallarta, as it is a 30 to 40 minutes from the city of Puerto Vallarta, even though these search engines still refer to it as Puerto Vallarta. If you rent out in this area you are out in the middle of nowhere, as this area is all about all inclusive hotels. I also would not recommend renting in what is referred to as the hotel zone, unless you are renting a car. It is much better to rent in Old Vallarta where you can walk everywhere, and get to experience some of the culture of Mexico, and the city of Puerto Vallarta.

Another thing to consider when renting a air/hotel package, almost 99 percent of the hotels offered are not guest friendly.

He is very honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable, knows many girls, can translate for you if needed, and he has a nice air conditioned taxi. He is a great guy to have along with you if you want to party, and can be a real benefit to you. He knows all the bars/discos, and is available to give you tours of Puerto Vallarta, airport pickup and drop off, and basically is there for any need you may have. He parties with me every night I am in Puerto Vallarta, as I like to party and not have to worry about security or any matter that may arise, as he takes care of everything for me, from paying my bar bills, to checking my change to make sure I am not being ripped off from bartenders and waitresses, to using him as a cover if it is needed when I am speaking to the girls. When I party, I do not want any responsibilites other than to have fun, so he works out great for me. If you would like me to contact him on your behalf just send me a message, and I will make the arrangements for you. He does speak passable english, and he is not difficult to understand.

He is especially great to use for your first day in Puerto Vallarta to get you to your hotel or to your apartment from the airport, and to take you to the grocery store to stock up on food, refreshments, liquor, to take you to get your money exchanged, and at night to take you on a bar/disco tour, allowing you to get to know where everything is at, as well as experience the real culture of what Mexico is all about, by taking you to local bars, taco stands, restaurants, and the lower end girl places.

Here is a listing of the domestic airlines in Mexico. One bit of advice I can give you, is that generally it is much cheaper booking your flight while in Mexico at a travel agency. I have found this to be true in other parts of the world as well.

las antorches, across from the cruise ships, is doing business as usual. at 5 pm on a wednesday, with one ship in port, there were 8 girls. six were plain and slightly overweight, one was quite fat, and one was reasonably slim. beer (indio) was 25 pesos, a 5 peso increase from my last visit. the house in the rear, which is quite a walk from the bar on a narrow cement path, was open for business.

Guys, listen to the good advice of Vitrea and Section11: Take a taxi when you plan to go out drinking!

The problem is: there are relatively few personal cars out on the Puerto Vallarta streets during the after-midnight hours. Your shiny rental car will be a cop-magnet on those well-patrolled streets. Late at night, I have had the cops follow me for a few miles - just waiting for me to commit any traffic infraction, so they would have an excuse to check for alcohol on my breath.

Using taxis is such a good idea. All of the nightclubs, popular restaurants, stripbars, etc. will have taxis waiting out front to safely take you home. Even in the Zona Rojo (Stravaganza, Las Alansas, etc.), there are at least three, or four, taxis always waiting in the parking lot. Just make sure to ask the taxi driver for the fare BEFORE you enter his taxi. The city has fixed taxi charges (depending on distance) to travel from one zone to another. The fare is per ride, NOT per passenger. Most taxi drivers are honest and charge these official prices. But occasionally, you will run across a driver who will try to over-charge.

i got stopped by the cops in pv now over 5 times always for speeding. first they tell me that they take my driving license and made a big story out of it like i have to go next day to the police station to pick it up. this would be the correct and also cheapest way for a foreigner like us. the big problem is that u have no driving license so you can´t continue driving. they know your problem very well. just wait until they told you what they do and give them your driving license, then ask them how much it would be without a ticket. normaly they know that it´s there last chance because you already give them the license. then they will tell you 500 pesos. you need to tell them look, if i go there tomorrow i only need to pay 250 pesos because of the 50% discount if you pay during the first days. then offer him like 250 pesos. he knows you are foreigners so he will try to push the price up to 500. you have plenty of time to chat with him, tell him the 500 pesos is impossible because your kids want to eat so lets make 300 pesos. don´t accept more then 400 pesos. if he still wants more just say no thanks, take the license and tomorrow i am off with 250 pesos. if the cop is not stupid he will now reduce the price! if no, let him take the license.

Sounds like this is big problem. Don't these guys realize that it is bad for local economy to harass tourists? I can understand DUI issues and I am at fault for driving after a few drinks. Last night my buddy was the designated driver.

One reason to take your own car is to avoid cover charge. So own car with designated driver or onw way car to the club and return in a cab is another option. BTW, we did not get charged for any cover cover charge at Aqua or taboo during 4 trips because we drove ourselves.

In the end the math was still against us. We saved $150 in covers and paid more to the cops :-)

a guy I ran into at car rental place says he brings several fake IDs from US and gives them to the cops. He let's them
keep it. He also asks the rental car company to the take the rental sticker off. I am not sure if that helps.

Therefore, Stravganza is the only place that I would recommend anyone to go in the Zona Roja. Also Stravaganza always has the higher quality girls, and it is also a stripclub, where as, Las Alazenas is strictly a whor_ house.

Arrived with a buddy who has never been to Mexico and is shy as shit. I have been lurking here for some time and have been grateful for all the good info I have picked up. I decided it was time to sign up with Jackson and get the full service (ha ha) and maybe offer some feedback where possible.

It sounds like you're in luck with Exthalmus' generous offer.

To New visitors to Puerto Vallarta:
I have seen the Puerto Vallarta Red Zone Tour advertisements ( http://pvredzonetours.isgreat.org/ ). I have not been on that tour, nor do I know the guy who runs the business. That being said, the price sounds like a decent deal if you consider what a taxi would otherwise cost you to get to several places around town. Not to mention any hassles in communicating with some taxi drivers to get you to the places you really want to go; rather than the expensive, high-end tourist clubs where the taxi driver wants to take you (so he can collect a big commission). Of course, you get the tour guide's experience and translation skills, to boot.

From the tour guy's website, he tells you where he is taking you and he seems honest in not setting false expectations on the girls you will most likely encounter (...although the website title photo is definitely not Puerto Vallarta, and more probably the street girls of Tijuana. :) )

Anyway, that's my opinion. Maybe a first-time Puerto Valarta visitor will go on the tour and report back with his findings.

I agree with Don Tonto. Not every day you get an offer from a guy like Exthalmus. I would take him up on it. But for other first time visitors, I would seriously think that the tour offer on CR is very reasonable. Heck, I might even do it the next time I am there. $50 is nothing. See my posts. A few guys here have made positive comments about using the Hotel Dunas as a short-time place to party with the ladies when they don't want to (or aren't allowed to) take them back to their regular hotel room. For reference, the Hotel Dunas is located across the main highway from the airport, behind the big aviation fuel storage tanks. The street entrance is just to the north of the tanks.

agree with both reports. If I may add, Dunas is in a back alley as opposed to Gran sol which is on the main HWY. I generally found myself waiting for chicas to arrive and meet me outside, and in those situations, I find Dunas to be a better option.

First night in Puerto Vallarta was a blast. I took the redzonetours tour. Three of us were on the tour and our guide brought along one of his working girl friends. The economical, non-touristy "action spots" in Puerto Vallarta are spread out around town; in places that are "off the beaten path". Sounds like the tour operator has found a nice little niche business for helping out visitors.

I think the club you went to was "Platino" (which is "Platinum", in English). I went there once, a few years ago, when they first opened. It was a small, but nice and comfortable place. I really should go back there again, but it seems I never get around to it.

I went with the tour guide again. Now I know where the street walker area is. Go east on gaudalupe just south of the river about 2 blocks. It is about 4 or5 blocks. The hotel next to the area is about 150 pesos. Looks nice and clean. The golden boy bar is out the bull fight (zona) road. Turn left on vIterol? Road. The girls are average to above average. This place is best before midnight. We went to Platino, role and the zone. Had a great time. A very attractive from Platino came to my room today and performed great. She was not sure where I was at but called the guide and he sent her in the right direction. Thank you friend if you read this board. The girl from Stravaganze did not show up today. I guess I'll have to call my guide or go to the zone tonight(Sunday). Anyway I am just letting everyone know that the pussy has been great and I have a couple more days to try to make my dick soft. CheersI believe this area is around the Hotel Erendia and the Hotel Azteca, which is several blocks from the Farmacia Guadalajara. BEWARE of many transvestite street walkers in Puerto Vallarta, as I am willing to be there are more trannys than actual females. The area I went to was south of the river just before you get to the Sheraton. Guadalupe is the name of the road going to the east. Go east about 4 blocks. I agree with Don Tonto. Unless the rules changed in the last two weeks, there is no extra charge for the room. I do tip the guy guarding the rooms couple of bucks to try and ensure full 30 minutes.

Is it possible that they were trying to scam you? Next time they try this check with the guy at the front door. (the fit guy that collects entrance fee) He is also the manager. The lady behind the bar counter is also helpful.

Thanks!No beach action in Puerto Vallarta, especially so at the time of the year Labor Day rolls around. You will find the beaches to be deserted. The main beach is Los Muertos which runs side by side with the gay area of Puerto Vallarta.

Partying: In your case, and for what you are looking for, you are stuck being in the tourist traps which line the Malecon.

Just some other info: Do not come to Puerto Vallarta expecting things to be cheap. Drink prices where you will be hanging out are seven to ten dollars for a mixed drink, and five to six dollars a beer. If you go to the average to upper end stripclubs, you can expect to pay ten dollars for a drink, twenty dollars for a ladies drink, and twenty dollars for a cover charge. If you are looking for above average prostitutes, you will be looking at two hundred to three hundred dollars per girl per hour.

My first report but a reader to learn. In November went and stayed in Old Town. Posada de Roger. Visitor friendly as long as the front desk knows you will have company. As the establishment looks "up-scale" in comparison to the other massage places around town, I'm surprised that "extras" are offered. Good find!
