Yesterday (Tuesday) was a sloppy day in the Zona for sure. Lots of rain, cold, sloppy.

The pickin's were slim but there were some very nice looking girls out just the same. I counted 15 girls out at 1PM in the alley. Constitution was just as thin. I was waiting to take my girl to lunch so I stood in the lobby of Cascades waiting (about 30 minutes) and that gave me a chance to watch the girls for a while.

INteresting to watch them turning guys down left and right (mostly Mexicans). Almost every Gringo got the green light.

Took my girl to lunch with DanTheMan who helped a lot with translating some legal stuff. Interesting time. DTM went back to his office and her and I decided to have a session. This time in her room at Cascades. I was not spending the night in TJ with the rain and the problems that causes.

Went to La Fogata on Paseo de los Heros. They know me there now. The park my car under the car port and I always seem to get my favorite booth. I have my english speaking waiter who knows what I like and the service is excellent. It's no 5 star restaurant by any means but I love the courtesy and service.

Got back to the Zona after dropping DTM off at 5PM and parked in the paid lot across from CC. Parking lot guy (balding, probably mid 50's with a mustache) parks my car (look for his lapel pin, I gave it to him about 6 months ago and he always shows it to me when I arrive). My girl and I walk up constitution to Cascades. We get to the corner and what do my eyes fall upon? DIANA!!!

Turns out she watched me and my girl walk up from the lot, holding hands, laughing, etc. etc. She was NOT happy and if looks could kill I'd be a dead man. She started into me (in spanish). Now I don't understand a word but she was saying "Who is that ***** you are with and I want to kill her and why are you not with me?"

She speaks no english but I told her "I looked for you for many weeks but could not find you?" To which she replied that she was in the "hospital."

Diana likes the crystal meth and she was not looking her best. She usually is a master with the make-up but she wasn't looking so good now. She looked better than the last time I saw her though.

So there I was. My girl had kept walking because she knew that "I'm gonna kill you" look from Diana. I realized that I would experience the same excitement that many of you brothers experienced in the past. Clash of the fav's. Jeez. All of this happening in the rain. Not a good thing.

There was no way I could tell Diana that I am sorry if she is upset. There was no way I could tell her that I was with my girl right now and could not go with her. She was looking at me like a statue, eyes locked on mine. Wow.

I decided that I would go with my girl and I told her that I would talk to her later. I gave her $50.p for some food and I pulled her into the store on the corner and gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. I said "later." She was NOT HAPPY about it but then her eyes looked at the floor and she bowed her head. I kissed her forehead and gave her another hug then walked away. She did not make a scene.

My girl was waiting for me by the Alley, patiently with a sly look on her face. I guess she was wondering which way the worm would go. There was never any doubt in my mind.

She immediately started in with the questions about Diana. I told her that I know Diana and there is nothing to tell except that I am not with her now and as long as I have her I would not have Diana.

She said "I understand." and left it at that. Not another word. So that was cool. Jeez.

Got to Cascades, she wanted me to buy a room. I said I will buy YOUR room and we talked a bit about that. She agreed and I paid the fucking fee and upstairs to the 6th floor we went.

My girls room is the same as the other rooms at Cascades. She pays $11.00 a day to be there. The room is newly remodeled though and very clean. The girls have no place to put their stuff. No dresser and a small closet space. I guess they don't expect them to spend a lot of time there.

The 6th floor has guards patrolling, and only they have the card key needed to get in the room. The guard got a bit testy seeing me there but she handled it quickly - she even got him to bring some beer to the room.

We talked about her life and how much she wants to just go home. She hates the Zona. She wants to get her situation taken care of and get out of town. I am helping her do that. We've cleared a LOT of obstacles just in the last few days.

After lots of conversation it was time to get down to business. All the time we talked she laid on top of me (clothed) in her bed.

The session was every bit as good as previous sessions and I will not repost that here, just read my last post.

The big difference this time was after 2 hours of glam slam, she pulled out and looked at me and said "I am going to make you cum."

What would you rate Lisa in looks(1-10)? i've been able to get $40 for 7's, $50 for 8's, but no lower than $60 for the 9-10's(maybe some bonus extra's and 10-15min longer time). i really doubt you can get a 9+ for $40 at AB.

This past Saturday I decided to take my car into TJ. The only concern I had before was the horrible traffic on the way back at the U.S customs at the border. With frequent trips to TJ I knew I could drive my way to zona norte. To my surprise, the traffic was light when I drove to the border on my way back at around 12:00 AM. It took me about 15 minutes to get through the border check point. No hassles from the US customs officer. It was a total breeze going in and out of TJ in my own car ! $4 to park at a parking lot in TJ close to CC and AB. I didn't have to deal with those annoying TJ taxi drivers. Anyone have any comments on pros and cons of taking your car to TJ ?

I've been going to TJ for over 10 years and every single time I've taken my car into TJ with relatively no problem. I did get caught once driving drunk from TJ to Rosarito about 7 years ago, but a little lana ($15 cash) took care of the cop. Although he did not know I had been drinking, he was taking me in for an alleged moving violation. Oh and another time got caught parking my car in front of the taqueria where cars where not allowed, minor ticket that I never paid because I switched to private plates little after that.

I always parked my car at the big parking lot across the street from El Toro or El Torito club (the one with the mechanical bull) on Revolucion which is only a few blocks away from Zona. But I think the parking lots close to CCs and ABs are relatively safe and should never have a problem being hassled.

However, I've never had an accident in TJ so I'm not sure what happens then. It is always safe to buy that 25 to 30 dollar insurance before you cross the border just in case. I did it the last time I was there.

I always take my car across. I ALWAYS purchase Mexico Insurance and when in the Zona I ALWAYS park at the paid lot across from chicago club and I've NEVER had a problem. Last night is another examplee, I left my caar there all night and when I arrived this morning all was cool.

Mexico is another country, not another planet. My advice? Drive like an old man (like me). Stories about other drivers and people "out to get you" may not be entirely false but I think the problem is bigger in the USA than here.

No problems to report. Just don't misbehave and drive like they do in those fancy TV commercials you saw.

You should always get the insurance, and by the time you do that, I figure you might as well take a taxi. If you go frequently, you can buy an annual Mexico liability ONLY policy for about $120 (Google MEXICAN INSURANCE ANNUAL), see. e.g http://www.mexicaninsurance.com/quoteMIQ.asp

Probably you need Liability only. Most U.S. Companies do cover your car while in TJ, check with your agent to make sure. BUT this will not help you with the cops if you get in an accident. Even if someone else rear-ends you while you are sitting at a light, if you have no Mex insurance, you are in for a hard time.

A quick trip to TJ on Monday and Tuesday was worth the mud, wind, and rain. What better place to while away a soggy afternoon than Adelita's? Warm, cheery, plenty of beer, a pocketful of cigars, and enough cash to keep me and a few chicas happy for hours. Really, there ought to be an Adelita's in every city. If guys in Boston, and New York, and Chicago, had an AB as a refuge from the cold, snowy winters, maybe they wouldn't take losing a baseball game quite so hard. Who cares if Pedro is throwing poorly or Jeter can't get a hit? They could always head to AB and be cheered up by a carefree young chica.

I wasn't at my barstool more than thirty seconds when Sofia from Cancun sidled up to me. On my last trip, she had spotted me as I walked in and I had pretty much blown her off, even though, looks-wise, she was right in my wheelhouse---early thirties, slender, large chichis, dark hair and eyes, and that kind of sultry but down-at-the- heels look that only slightly older chicas can manage to wear. I guess it takes a few hard knocks from life to give that kind of nuance to a woman's face, that serious edge that never really goes away, even when she's smiling. For me, it's a kind of aphrodisiac. Or maybe I just recognize a kindred spirit, someone who's a grizzled veteran of life's little skirmishes. It gives a woman some depth, and shows some spirit, and I really admire that quality in women and find it attractive.

Anyway, on my last trip, I listened to Sofia's sales pitch and then declined. I wanted to look at the entire menu before selecting an entree. But, as often happens, by the time I got around to choosing her as the "plato principal" (main course), she had gone home.

This time, she didn't remember me, but I certainly remembered her. As she made the case for going upstairs, she rubbed just about every part of her against just about every part of me. When I didn't take full advantage of the situation, she grabbed my hand and made sure it found something warm and round and soft to grab ahold of.

Upstairs, she was plenty of fun, but nothing for the record books. To paraphrase Abe, the world will little note nor long remember what we did upstairs. Still, I was quite happy with the results and had absolutely no regrets. Especially entertaining was her ability to contract her vaginal muscles. I guess she had been practicing her Kegel exercises, and the upshot was that, despite having two children, she was able to provide a very snug fit.

The story doesn't end there, though. The next evening at AB I was chatting up a chica I had just met when Sofia came running up to me and hugged and kissed me like we hadn't seen each other in years. Then she began this long monologue about how much she had enjoyed our session; it was the best session she'd had since she started working at AB; that she felt we had a real connection; that I "understood" her like no other man; and so on. When she left, the chica next to me made circles around her head with her finger, the universal sign for "crazy". Then she mimicked Sofia: "Oh, Matiz, you're so handsome and wonderful and I love you and want your babies." Then she laughed. So did I. It was funny, I guess. You really never know what these chicas are thinking. Sofia didn't seem like a manipulator trying to play me, but I can't rule out that possibility. Or maybe she wants legal access to the U.S. Or maybe, as a relative newcomer to TJ, she is projecting her insecurities and needs onto me. Or, as the other amiga thought, maybe she really was a bit loca. The one thing I'm certain of is that Sofia did not develop feelings for me in thirty minutes of paid sex. Ten years ago I might have told myself that anything was possible. I don't feel that way anymore. Give me a nice, slutty, amiable ****-buddy anyday over a pro who professes feelings for me. It's a nice daydream for a rainy day but that's all it is.

A dancer on stage had the good sense to select a couple of Jim Morrison hits---"Roadhouse Blues" and, for her concluding number, "Rider on the Storm", a fitting song given the rain and wind outside. She was way too young to remember the Doors--probably didn't even know the name of the group. It had a good beat and was easy to dance to. Sometimes I feel like I've been coming her too long (fifteen years) and that I'm too old and have too many memories and there are just too many ghosts I have to contend with. I walked out through the curtain.

Outside, a light rain was coming down steadily--enough to get wet, but not enough to warrant a taxi. I walked up Revo, which was quiet, almost dead. The heavy construction between Second and Seventh was halted by the deluge. Big yellow earthmovers and backhoes stood idle. The middle of Revo was a muddy quagmire, and negotiating the sidewalks, with the wooden planking set down across the mud, was problematic. The streetlights were out, perhaps because of the construction, so the normally neon-lit street was uncharacteristically dark. Few customers had come to TJ and even fewer were out in the rain, making the street feel empty and dark and cold, like some frontier backwater, rather than one of the busiest tourist streets in Mexico.

I went into Manolo's, the "civilian" bar on Sevenths next to Skandalo's (the former home of Isis), and watched the ALCS while downing a couple of margaritas made from scratch by Lucero, the vivacious but increasingly ample cantinera. Manolo's juke box is a hodgepodge of American oldies and romantic Mexican songs. Some wag, evidently a Yankee fan, played Sinatra's "New York, New York" three times in a row, but even the Chairman of the Board seemed incapable of keeping the Sox from winning.

I teetered off my stool and went next door to Equipales, where almost immediately I ran into the dancer, Rosita from Veracruz. Rosita had dyed her hair back from blonde to its natural dark color, so I really didn't recognize her until she revealed her ample headlamps, which have prominent dark nipples that are unforgettable. After some hand jive at my table, we went upstairs to a more comfortable room.

Then things got weird. After we got "comfy", Rosita told me she had a fantasy. Que fantasia? Rosita explains: When I suck your dick, you say, "Shut up and suck, you beeetch." When I complain, you slap me and say, "just suck it."

Well, we got started and now I have new respect for DeNiro and Pacino. I don't mind a little role-playing, but my heart really wasn't into slapping her around. I know that there's an element of control and power---whether economic, social, or contractual---built in to commercial sex relationships. But it's always latent. And I like to keep it that way. I have no interest in pushing some chica around. Rosita must have sensed my discomfort at the implicit violence of my assigned role, so she suggested instead that, in lieu of slapping her face, I grab her hair and shove her head down on Matiz Jr. I gave it a try, gently at first, to see how she'd react. Each time I did this, or told her to "shut up", she would moan and complain and then suck harder and harder. Irma is mid-thirties, petite, fair-skinned, raven-haired, with incredibly expressive eyes. Great dancer's legs and ass; she was a very sexy stripper. She is also a confirmed coke-addict, and that addiction is steadily eroding her hold on reality.

When MR went out of business, she found her way to Isis and Unicornio, where I again ran into her. But her increasing drug use was taking an obvious toll. The last time I went with her, she was talking on-and-off to imaginary beings. What was worse, these phantoms were apparently talking back to her. I began to realize she and I were not inhabiting the same space-time continuum. After I paid her that night, I had left her sitting on the toilet in the bathroom, naked, crouched over a broken lightbulb, smoking her favorite junk, oblivious to my presence or absence.

And now, two years later, she was standing there in the rain, hair matted, dirty clothes, looking like a lost urchin. Which, I suppose, she is. She still had that same impassioned face and expressive eyes that suck you in. Eyes, unfortunately, that held absolutely no recognition of me at all. I smiled at her, but she just looked beyond me, so I zipped my jacket against the cold, and kept walking. I hoped the bright neon and loud music of the ZN would cheer me and drive away the image of Irma standing alone in the rain on that empty dark street.

Once back in the warm embrace of Adelita's, I settled in to a booth and watched the circus. Listening to the snippets of conversations and body language around me, I overheard nothing but suggestions about bodily functions, sex, and booze. What an environment---a true evolutionary regression. I wondered what the most lofty thought was that had ever been thought inside Adelita's? Hmmmm. I realized suddenly that I had just had it!!! Sad to think that so much brain power was put to so little use. But Adelita's is not a place where the "big brain" is as important as the little one. Perhaps, I thought, I should try to think great thoughts while I was sitting there doing nothing. You know, add to the overall quantum of human knowledge.

But, sadly, just as I was on the brink of intellectual greatness, Sonia from Chihuahua, sans underwear and big boobs straining to break out of her skimpy top, slip into my booth and slipped her hand in my lap. I sank back down into the primordial ooze of lust. Plato, Kant, Nietzsche, Lao Tzu, can rest easy for tonight at least.

My own private joke is that Sonia is the source of the exclamation, "Ay! Chihuahua!" She reminds me of the 70s porn star, Kay Parker. For those of you too young to remember, she was a tall, big-busted, elegant-looking woman who projected a very sophisticated, mature image that contrasted with her on-screen nastiness. She had a lush, hourglass figure that those of us that grew up lusting after Monroe and Mansfield and Tempest Storm and Uschi Digard still admire over the young, silicone hardbodies.

Sonia is a true throwback to the voluptuous ladies of yore. She is about 5'8", big-boned, huge-breasted, and her face even looks like Kay Parker's. Though she looks like she's sophisticated, she's really just a big, friendly farm girl from the sticks of Chihuahua. She buries the needle on the Nasty Meter during our sessions. So you met Candy! One of my all time most awesome memories of TJ. She was my first, some helpful gringos steered me toward her as I was having a beer. Must have looked like a deer in the headlights. She blew my mind. Went back a few weeks later, took her hupstairs for a full hour, with a little vitamin V working. She was again totally amazing, nice and fun. Haven't been there in the daytime for a while, but might just look for her in that flowered sundress again when i do. If you like chicken, there's a great place at the top of the hill. Take a left, toward Revo, it's on the right. Looking at it, the fryer is on the right, cooler is in the back wall, two rows of stools on the left. Leg/thigh, beans, cabbage, salsa, corn torts, like $1.75. Place always has some people there.

Driving in Mexico is really no big deal. The traffic laws are basically the same, and the hardest part - like driving anywhere new - is navigating correctly. The traffic in TJ can be pretty heavy sometimes also, especially between Revolucion and the border. The first time you go, just take it easy and drive slowly. After a while, you'll be handling it like a pro. Just watch the potholes and park in a secure area!

If the traffic is really bad at the San Ysidro crossing, you may consider crossing at Otay Mesa. This is where the commercial traffic crosses, and there is generally a much shorter wait at the border there. Best place to cross IMHO is at Tecate, but this is way out of the way as it is about 40 miles east of TJ. Good if you are coming from Ensenada though as there is usually less than 5 minute wait time. During especially busy times (i.e holiday weekends) you will definitely want to consider Otay Mesa.

Mexican Insurance is easy to obtain. You can get it right when you cross or purchase in advance at AAA. The AAA rate is on average $15 per day for short stays. You can buy in advance if you know exactly when you will be crossing into Mexico as it only becomes "active" on the date and time you specify. Take your existing Cal. registration into AAA if you want to do this.

I read everyones response to this with interest. One of my first trips down there years ago I drove my late model Volvo across and bought all kinds of liquor and upon leaving learned you could only bring one bottle back, so the rest were put into my storage compartment with the tools. Never got checked so no duty. I guess with the new 9/11 policing everything now changed.

I now have been driving to border and paying $7.00 parking and walking to taxi stands and $5.00 to AB and then $5.00 back to border and I make sure they will go all the way to entrance and not just back to taxi stand as the 2 block walk is still a possible mugging.... I learned to do this as I was mugged on Revolution at around midnight right in middle of street by 3 dudes and nobody was brave enough to help... right in front of taco stands got choke holded from behind.

I fought back when caught breath and landed punch on jaw and kicked another in nuts and then the third one ran, lost money in front pocket, and my backpack and hat and sunglasses and watch but didnt get wallet, sitting on it when fell back, or my walkman in fanny pack.

Suffered torn knee ligament. MCL no surgery but out of NFL action (haha) for 5 months. Guy fell on my leg from behind just like that Rams QB did, then Warner got into play and then took team to Super Bowl. We both suffered MCL partial tears. Cant remember that guys name...anyone?

So maybe if have an older car could drive to TJ. Insurance questions have already been addressed, but I wouldnt walk after dark. I even talked to a lady who was drug into an alley and robbed in daylight. The word Drug was used on purpose.

Had two days between TJ and Mexciali on Thursday and Friday. Went to Mexciali on Thursday, extended the stay and hooked up with my girl upon my return.

Cruised into Miami and she was alone doing the dollar dance. I turned up my collar and tried to disguise my self (to escape Diana) but when I got into the club, no disguise could hide me from my girl.

She took me by the hand and led me to Honk Kong, where she said "You had a long day and you need a beer." Got me two beers for one (EVEN AFTER 2 FOR 1 HOURS) and she got one for herself. She sipped slowly, removed my jacket in the booth, rubbed my nuts and massaged my back, working the knots. Kissed me, hugged me etc. Great.

I said "I have to stay in TJ tonight but I have no place to stay." She said "OK, you stay with me in my room but you have to buy the room or they won't let you come up with me." She said " I want to make love to you." I told her "but I have not too much money." She said "I don't want your money tonight honey, I am almost finished with my shift and I want to be with you."

I finished the first beer, she was sipping hers and "shooing" the waiters and other vendors away and rubbing my back.

I had a long fucking day. got to TJ at 9AM, drove to Mexicali, then had to drive back to TJ, then back to Mexicali the next morning. I was rode hard and put away wet. The weather didn't help. The rain had subsided but the mess was still out there.

It was about 8PM when I got to Miami. The choice was check into a hotel and get some sleep or have a session with my girl. I opted for the session but didn't expect to TLN in her room since she has issues with TLNs.

I also had to talk to her about some legal issues I'm working on and to deliver a cel phone so I can be in touch and enable her to receive calls from the USA. (I made sure that the cel phone will not work for international calls and that the on board chip is proprietary so they can't hack into it.) I also check the phone bill every day for activity and I can turn the thing off online.

Finished our beers and got out of the club, heading upstairs to Cascades. she took me into a little clothing shop next to the check in desk. Showed me several things she was interested in. One was a pair of embroidered bluejeans that were very cool. they were also a bit pricey ($45.00) . I asked her if she would like them, she said "Yes honey but I do not want you to buy them, I will get them when I have the money."

She pushed me out of the store and into the elevator, up to the 6th floor, to her room. Inside, she ordered some beer and some food (she paid) and proceeded to undress me and put me in bed. She tucked me in and we waited for the room service to arrive.

We had dinner, shared a beer and she undressed and slipped under the covers with me.

We DFK's and had a 2-1/2 hour session that was at least equal to the previous posts so I'll not repeat all that here.

The night was interesting to say the least. It's a wonder how these girls sleep at all. Tropical has some kind of advertisement that BLASTS every half hour or so and it sounds like the mutherfuckers are under the bed. That and the general noise from the street, the cops, the traffic, the sounds of the zona makes a decent night's sleep hard to come by.

Salma and I hugged all night and the feel of her soft skin next to me was a delight. I lay awake and looked at her in the light that shone through the blinds of her room. I used to visit TJ twice a month a couple of years ago, I even got to the point of going once a week and staying for 3 days in a row. Back then it had more appeal since I had not yet discovered the rest of the world. having raised my expectations TJ no longer appeals to me like it used to. Im not posting this to ruin anyone's party but to share my views about world prostitution. In my hay day I visited just about every border town from TJ to Reynosa. Having visited just last night during a peak period "Saturday from 6pm to 11pm" It became apparent that things have changed. CC was basically dead most of the night, nothing like it was years back. AB the new kid on the block and has been for several years now seems to be on top. Prices have risen to an average of $60 for a session plus the $11 for the room, add in $10 round trip taxi fare and TJ is no longer the bargain it once was. Why do we go? Well it's there, it's tolerated which is more then what we have in the US. Prices are less expensive then our only legal option "Nevada". Some of us have a thing for them Latina's too.

But hey kissing is rare, so is bbbj, mechanical sex is common and GFE, well not what im used to. There are different standards of this world wide from what i've found traveling.

The other thing is many of the women in TJ dress the part of a hooker, to the point that they look more slutty then attractive. Some of the plastic sugery you see is so over kill you can't help but laugh. Hey I know most hookers play the game and act the part to get your money, but some are better at this game then others and at least the good ones get you to almost believe they are into it.

For those that have never been, TJ is like a "ZOO", the streets are filled with poverty, grime, odd balls with normal folk mixed in. There are stories of police giving hard times to visitors, almost every street has the salesman pushing his club or bar. Bands playing, kids selling gum and shine boys with portable shoe shine boxes. Drunks both domestic and imported lurk the streets. What a place to put a brothel?

Supply and demand seem to change things in the regular world but in the Zona Rosa there are other rules. For instance the parking lot just over the border on the US side near the Jack in the Box used to charge $8 for 12 hours on weekends. Rates had slowly gone up as this was one of the closer lots near the Mexico exit. However a few years ago when another lot opened just behind this lot and charged only $5, the $8 lot lowered it's rate to $4. Simple supply and demand. While back a few years when TJ appeared to be more popular with Hong Kong Bar, Chicago Club and Adelita Bar being some of the top bars their were also many other clubs that did well, Pollo, NY, Manhattan etc. Now all the focus seems to be on AB, well at least from recent visit. Yet prices have gone up. While we easily change parking lots to save a dollar or two we go to where the action is at the clubs.

I now prefer to add airfare and travel 10 or more hours to find my fun. Yes, that leaves more for all you guys that enjoy TJ. Hey if it works for you, more power to you. But hey, don't stop looking and trying other places as you might change your own standards if you sampled something else and something to compare things to. This site is an example of a place u can find such other places where you can expand your tastes. There is Canada, Cuba, Costa Rica, South America, Europe and Asia.

Oh I may be back in TJ some day, I look back when I enjoyed it, I think of it now as just a phase, but so is life, a bunch of phases we go thru. What would life be like without these little adventures?

Then again I could have it all wrong, someone tell me if there are better places and prices to be had in TJ that I may have missed?

Summary:

Grabbed a Taxi Libre, which is about a block south of the first taxi stand that you will see. A note to Newbies, walk past the short block of Farmacias (pharmacies) that are on our right hand side. You will see the Taxi Libre drivers parked along the road, just past these drug stores. You can recognize these cars as being all white with orange trim, and they have a taxi dome light on top. Take the Taxi Libre only, not the plain yellow taxis. Sit in front of the cab, if you sit in back it is apparently a give-away that you are a Newbie. Although you are, you really don’t want anyone (including the girls) to know it.

Our first stop was the Chicago Club, which was very slow at this time of night (around 9 pm). There were 10 or so girls sitting along the bar, and a few were occupied guys buying them drinks. We finished out first round, and headed over to Adelita’s.

At the corner next to the CC was a stand that served Berria style tacos reminiscent of what I used to eat in Guadalajara.

Was in the zona this weekend, and had a great time, as always. I got there earlier than I usually do on Saturday, so I decided to walk from the border. City officials want to clean up Tijuana's tawdry image by moving prostitutes off the streets into specially built hotel lobbies in the Zona Norte. The city allows the women to work as prostitutes after they obtain permits, which require monthly health checkups.

TIJUANA – Around the corner from the tourist strip of Avenida Revolución, hundreds of prostitutes wait for clients by lining up in front of hotels and bars at all hours.

Prostitution has been permitted for decades in the Zona Norte, a part of town where many pimps bring the women they lure from small Mexican towns. The city allows the women to work after they obtain permits, which require monthly health checkups.

No one expects prostitution to disappear in this part of Tijuana, but city officials want to clean up the city's tawdry image by moving the prostitutes off the streets into specially built hotel lobbies in the Zona Norte.

A recent attempt to start the process in an alley called Callejon Coahuila demonstrated the challenges the city faces in tweaking with the traditions and dynamics of this colorful part of town, which also is known for its ties to smugglers, drug dealers and other shady characters.

Two weeks ago, police and inspectors shooed approximately 300 prostitutes out of Callejon Coahuila, hoping they would stay inside the hotels. But only a few of the hotels have waiting rooms prepared, and the women ended up going to other streets.

A woman said she moved to Tijuana to escape an abusive husband. A human-rights activist said some small towns in Mexico's interior have become feeder communities for prostitution.

Some of the prostitutes, worried they would lose access to a prominent location, threatened to protest by taking off their clothes at City Hall. After meeting with city officials, they were allowed back into Callejon Coahuila.

"The thing is that there are six hotels in Callejon Coahuila and most of them needed to still be remodeled with the (special waiting) rooms," said Marco Antonio Villalobos Hernández, director of regulations for Tijuana. "Until the hotel areas are remodeled, we won't touch this."

Unlike American cities, where the sex industry is kept mostly under wraps, prostitution in Tijuana is negotiated on street corners as openly as getting a shoe shine or hailing a cab.

The city has issued about 3,000 permits that allow prostitution. Most of the permit-holders are women who work in dance clubs, bars or massage parlors, but about 500 to 600 stand along the Zona Norte's streets, according to city officials.

Though the area is sometimes visited by curious tourists, most of the prostitutes' clients are Mexicans, said Victor Clark. He is a Tijuana-based human-rights activist who has represented the prostitutes in extortion and abuse complaints.

Other Mexican cities have moved their street prostitutes out of the public eye into hotel lobbies or waiting rooms. Tijuana officials, hotel owners and some of the prostitutes who work in the Zona Norte had come to a similar agreement over the past two years, Clark said.

"We have always said that it's important to provide more dignity to their work and to transform the urban space," Clark said. "When they are in the streets, they can be stigmatized and have insults thrown at them . . . and they can get cold."

But Villalobos said the discussions apparently didn't include some of the women who work in Callejon Coahuila, which contributed to the confusion last month.

The city continues to encourage the approximately 28 hotels in the Zona Norte to set up special waiting rooms, starting with Callejon Coahuila, but no one ventures to estimate when the rooms will be ready. Even supporters of the idea have their doubts it will work.

"I don't know if it will function or not because prostitution here has its own dynamics," Clark said. "Some of the women are worried that some of the men will be too afraid to go into the waiting rooms. Facing 30 women in a room may cause them to flee."

Laura Fernandez Contreras, 24, a prostitute who works just outside of the Callejon Coahuila area, said many women also feel safer and more comfortable standing outside.

"This has been going on for so many years here that I don't think it will change," she said. "When you work on the street, you don't get bothered or hassled, and you don't have to deal with the smoke in the bars."

Fernandez said she has been working on her own, and that she sends a part of the money she earns to her parents, who are farmers in the state of Veracruz. She is one of 12 children, she said, and she dreams one day of opening a snack shop back home.

Clark said that a few of the street prostitutes are able to work on their own, but that most end up here through pimps.

A street prostitute between 18 and 25 earns on average about $30 a day, though the younger women can make about $100 a day, Clark said. Most of the money, he said, ends up in the hands of their pimps.

Clark said that certain small towns in Mexico's interior have become feeder communities for prostitution, but he hasn't found evidence the women are being trafficked on a wide scale by organized crime groups.

"There are certain villages that produce pimps, and they will go look for young girls whom they deceive and bring to work here," Clark said. "A pimp that has three girls could be making $300 a day. They use the money to build a hotel or a restaurant back home, so the village's economy is based on this activity."

In my personal experience, how well you do in the room depends on how well you do on the street.

The girl (a human being) is going to decide on the street how she will treat you in the room. You are into a "get what you pay for" situation of course but you can do heaps to take care of her and you. If you want the turkey and all the dressings then you need to pay for it and the cost is usually as low as another $10. above the asking price if you play it right.

And if you play it right you will have a great session, a delightful expereince as only these girls can give. American women could learn sooooo much from these girls.

Negotiating with the girl can mean everything when it comes to the service in the room. I might sometimes have two or more negotiation sessions with the girl before I go. Each time, beyond talking numbers, I'll tell her she's beautiful, and make her smile or laugh with my ignorance of the language but the message to her is she's beautiful and I am "not worthy." I might take another walk aroound the block and come back to her and do the same.

Evenutually she'll go for $30.00 and do the fuill service because now she knows you and maybe even likes you a little bit but even more importantly she'll trust you - a very important element. If you treat them nice but are firm in negotiations they will usually go your way.

If you are a "ride 'em and run" type then they sense that too and will respond accordingly. You are either there to fuck or have a sensual experience with a beautiful girl. How you approach the girl will determine the level of service, not always the amount you pay.

You MUST embrace the notion that even though it's P4P, they are still sharing an intimate experience whether full on GFE or a 15 minute F**k. It's better for you (and them) if it she is comfortable with YOU first. She'll be comfortable with the deal if she's comfortable with you.

Had a chance yesterday to spend some time in the sleaze clubs on Seventh---Skandalo's and Equipales. For you Revo vets, Skandalo's is the reincarnation of Isis, and Equipales (located next to Skandalo's) took on most of the Unicornio gals when that bar closed. Between E. and S., you can find most of the girls who used to work in Isis and Unicornio. A few are also working at Bambi.

I had assumed that Skandalo's advertising as a "Gentlemen's Club" with "showgirls" had some basis to it. But it's looking more and more like the old Isis every visit. The only difference is the addition of the pool table. Perhaps the gorditas shooting pool were the "showgirls". That would make me the "gentleman", I guess. Quien sabe?

Unicornio and Isis were always "hit and miss", with misses far outnumbering the hits, as far as attractive women are concerned. That hasn't changed with a new coat of paint and a pool table. The price is still $20, but it's a little easier to swallow now that the rooms actually resemble hotel rooms and not a Victorian debtor's prison. Now if only Skandalo's would hire real showgirls, they'd be on to something.

Equipales has a little more activity than Skandalo's, but it closes pretty early on weeknights (around midnight). The downside is its "accommodations". Unlike the newly renovated hotel at Skandalo's, Equipales has a "privado" (really just a bare room with a chair) for BJs and quickies (costs $10), or some spacious but threadbare apartments upstairs if you need more comfort (costs $20). Neither venue is particularly enticing, but if you see a chica you like at Equipales, the management discourages you from taking her to your hotel (I was told by some chicas it was "prohibido" and by others that I'd have to pay a hefty bar fine). So you have to make do.

In sum, it looks like the patrons of south Revo can rest assured that Sleaze has survived the closing of the Unicornio and Isis and lives on at Equipales and Skandalo's. If, however, you're in the mood for really attractive chicas, take a Taxi Libre to the ZN and forget about Seventh street.

so be careful driving accross the border, my friend has driven many times, and this is the 1st time we were hassled.

USA Rental vehicles are NOT allowed by the rental agency in Mexico. You've probably already read that in the contract. The only insurance that is valid (liability) in Mexico is purchased from a Mexican Insurance agency. Some insurance companies will cover comprehensive, but never liability.

NEVER take a rental vehicle to Mexico without permission (on the contract).

It's not wise to drive in Mexcio without Mexican insurance. If you hurt someone, you could be there for days sorting it out.

Anyone driving to Mexico MUST understand the insurance requirements etc. To not do so is foolish. It's simple, cheap and will save your ass.

Running a yellow light is not a Felony in Mexico. You should have asked to see the judge. Both cops made you as a foolish tourist and an easy mark, the rental car gave you up.

The last time I was at Budget Car Rentals they had a sign up saying you could buy "Mexican Car Insurance" for rentals going into Mexico. I asked the girl working there and she confirmed it. The funny thing was she said you could drive "their cars" into Mexico but not into Canada! Go figure, eh? Anyways for those travelling into Canada in a rental I contacted Budgets international number and they said regular insurance now covers trips into the land of Beaver and hockey sticks.With my experience, Budget is about the best when travelling longer distances or abroad. I've rented and purchased insurance for driving in Mexico from the following rental car agencies at the San Diego airport:

They require you to go to a side counter to get the Mexican insurance validation. I've not seen this at the other rental locations.

The only rental agency that I know which allows their cars, non-luxury cars excluded,to be driven into Mexico is Avis. I travel to Ensenada twice a month and I always use Avis cars. However, you need to obtain the Mexican Insurance through Avis, but only at their airport locations. For some unknown reason(s), the local neighborhood offices will rent you a car but will not sell the Mexican Insurance. Since the insurance works on a 24 hour basis, please make sure they make it effective the time you expect to cross the border, not when you purchased the insurance. It makes a little difference if you are departing from certain areas far from the border such as Los Angeles and the Inland Empire cities.

Allen Eire is a true gentleman and scholar. We hooked up midweek for a trip to the zona. Country JohnCJ, no sypmtoms (i.e., burning, itching, etc.) so far thank goodness, but just to be safe I took a test for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, and Hepatitus A,B,C (I waited the minimim incubation period). I will know by monday and will take HIV and other tests too as soon as is advisable. Incidentally, I found a place in Hollywood, "Progressive Health" or something like that (on Santa Monica Blvd about 2 blocks w. of Crescent Heights) that does legitimate rapid results testing relatively inexpensively. (I paid $160 for the above).

Believe it or not, I do not regret one second. I have vowed to learn from the experience but haven't made any major resolutions yet.

I recently read posts from a couple of members getting pretty friendly with the border agents regarding the nature of their visit to TJ.

This new sex tourism law scares me and the last thing I would do is tell a border agent that I went to Mexico to get laid.

Sex tours can be arranged in exotic lands for a fee of course but unfortunately some of these involve minors. Many do not. But the ones that do are targeted by the US and the patrons are targeted for criminal prosecution which is proper and just.

Remember that in Mexico (and in many other countries) there is a "tolerance zone" for those wishing to engage the services of a prostitute. That is not sex tourism and as long as you fly straight and stay away from minors you'll be OK in your mongering.

I'm starting to feel more at home in the Zona now than I am at home. Something about the place- the allure, the edge.

Arrived late because I had to shove a deal up a notary's ass in TJ. That took about an hour. Fucking jerks. They're crooks. Clip artists. Worse than the El Gallion in Guadalajara or the fucking El Pollo in the Zona.

Long Duck Dong, I wanted to reply to your post. While I understand where you are coming from, in that many of the girls there see us as nothing more than walking ATM machines, I don't know that you can lump all the girls in the zona into the same category.

The zona is, I think, both a simple place and a complicated place at the same time. It is simple for the guys who just want to hand the girl $50 and get laid and it more complex for the guys who like to hang out there, talk to the girls, get to know them and maybe even be their friends. I classify myself in the latter group as I genuinely like most Mexicans I meet. I admit that there is an emotional attachment there, but I actually kind of like that and most (but not all) girls seem to appreciate it too. I think it may help make their difficult jobs somewhat easier. It's funny - this emotional attachment isn't what brought me to the zona in the first place, but it is one of the things that brings me back.

As I have said in some previous posts, I believe that there is something for everybody in the zona. If you are just looking for quick, transactional sex then you will find it and the zona would be seen as nothing more than a giant open-air Wal Mart where sex is the only service being sold. If, however, you are looking for something else: GFEs, GFs, a woman who can be your fav or even a friend then you can find this also. I just returned from a four day San Diego business trip and made a few stops in TJ. Since I benefited greatly from the information on this board, I wanted to also share my experiences. First, Brockton O'Tools TJ Guide is mandatory reading. I followed the advice listed regarding crossing the border, taxis, security information, Adelita Bar (AB) and Chicago Club (CC). I traveled alone each night to TJ, drank responsibly, and never had a problem. I’m attaching a map found from another website that helped me identify areas.

I won’t provide a scale rating because all of our tastes are different. I prefer petite, small ass, full lips, long brown hair, and brown eyes. The darker and more Hispanic, the better. In my four night trips to TJ, I had no shortage to pick from, if I was patient and hunted well.

On the first night, I decided to check out the CC. It was completely dead (although it was early) so I went to Adelitas. After twenty minutes of scanning the bar and having a few beers, I hooked up with Maria, 29, from some city about 70 miles south of TJ. She had a great attitude and we quickly negotiated $60 . Blue Nose, it was a pleasure to read your post. For years, I've thought that TJ was much more complex (and therefore harder to stereotype) than most posts would indicate. After reading a number of posts in a thread about a girl or bar, I suppose it's almost irresistable to generalize---she's a GFE, or she's stuck up, or that bar is a rip off. I have been reading this post for about 2 months and I love it. I can't wait for my next trip to TJ. The last time (the only time) I was there I partied my ass off. Christmas cheer was evident throughout TJ this week--even the utility poles in the alley had lights strung on them and an inflatable Santa bobbed back and forth on the sidewalk. I arrived in the Zona at 11:30 PM, an all time late for me, especially on Friday night. Work ran over and I was pissed because I was good to go for an early evening in the Zona.

While we all are entitle to an opinion, I would have to strongly disagree with your generalization of the average street girl. Could be something, could be nothing. It's the end of the month, end of the year. Cops are looking for stoopid gringos to fleece and so there could be some of that going on.
