When i say Mexicans have $100 to spend, I mean for the entire fucking trip.

LI: Cuba is a mysterious place. Cubans are a tough bunch of people who eat a lot of shit from alot of people just to survive. Even with many trips over many years, fluent Spanish, years of building relationships with people of all walks of life, and adjusting my mentality to try to understand their psyche, I don't claim to "know" Cuba or the mind of everyday Cubans.

Hi l have been to Cuba once before with my friends. I was wondering if it would be save to travel alone in havana. L was planning to go to havana nexst month and stay for 3 weeks.
Is it save to travel alone there?
I know you can stay with a family in particular casa but can that family help you if something goes wrong like if you where robbed and need to go home?
If sombody could answer this that would be great or if sombody is going nexst month for 3weeks and wants to travel with me lam a nice man from scandinavia.

Economic crime does happen, especially in Havana.
Generally speaking, it is very safe but if you are walking in an area that is really dark and you have flashed money, you never know if you have been targeted. Leave your jewellery at home. Photocopy your passport and carry the copy around with you. Get a good suitcase that is tamper proof and keep it locked in your room. If you get robbed of all your cash and identification, the only people that will help you is your consulate/embasssy.
FYI, suitcases where you lock the zippers together are not tamper proof. They can be opened with a pen in two seconds and then rezipped.
Does anyone know of any massage parlors or places to "Visit" in the Miramar area? Newbie heading up there for work, but looking for some fun. Heard that you pay the hotel as much as you pay the girl!

Always pallet wrap for your suitcase before check in .Recently I had a small gold chain ripped off my neck outside Casa De Musica at 2am.
This forum reminds me of Cuba in so many ways.
As I got home from my last trip, I had without realizing, sold all my cigars before getting home. Which means I was out of cigars and had to go back the next weekend.
I was lucky enough to get a fairly inexpensive ticket and arrange housing on the fly.
This ticket was business, so I had to keep expenses under control, so this will be a brief report.
I arrived on a Friday afternoon and was able to get through customs with minimal molestation. I caught a cab into Havana and arrived at my casa. I went to the market across the street to stock the fridge and noticed that Cuba has no fruit juice. Apparently, the company that was providing this comodity was having trouble getting paid, so they pulled out altogether from Cuba.
I went upstairs in the same building to visit my friend Alejandro and a Spaniard that I'd met on previous trips was staying there. We caught up and hung out for a while. He goes to Havana once a month on business for 10 days at a time. This trip, he had a couple of buddies from home tagging along. I should say these guys were not Spaniards in the sense of the word. They were from Basque Country. They were hilarious and we had a great time sitting around smoking cigars and bullshitting. At one point, I called over a couple of chicas for his friends, but it was a quiet evening in that sense.
On my Second night, I found out La Cecelia was open again. How I love La Cecelia. I arranged to grab dinner with the Basques and hit La Cecelia afterward. What a blast. It was just as fun watching them have fun as having fun myself. Anyhow...
I was in the mood for a Mulatta tonight, so I scoured the Disco's 300 working girls for a nice Mulatta. I saw many more than qualified mulattas, but I had my eye on this one in particular. I had asked her earlier and she'd asked me for 80cuc. Now she said 50cuc. So I said good night to my Iberian buddies and was off to my casa with my companion.

Cuban women are very strong, know what they want, and are kind and gentle, I guess because of the education system and the culture from the past. Though this is changing fast, especially in Havana. Havana is the ideal place if you are tired of the pussy girls in Europe/Northern America, who don't know what they want in life. But you have to have strength yourself, otherwise the girls will know how to use you (and they have the right, if you are too weak and don't know how to handle them! Are you a man?). If you don't like this go to Asia, there women are softer I think.
Some ideas
1) You can try to contact girls on the street, but there is first police and second stigma from society talking to foreigners. The regueton music has numerous songs making fun of the jineteras with their tourist money and this reflects the way cuban society considers jineteras. So, don't expect too much of it, but you can be lucky, talk to them in a rapido, a cupet, a supermarket. A rental car definitely helps, but is relatively expensive. If you have enough money, it is a good idea to rent a car, a cuban driver should not be so expensive, they will love the attention they get from the girls driving in a tourist car.
Walking with a cubana on the street, the police might stop you, this is really annoying if you feel bad for your company, to you nothing happens, they leave you always alone, unless your company is menor (less than 18 years, never do this! Check the I'd (carnet), some menores, sadly enough, go after tourists, when the girl is minor everything turns upside down, the girl is not to blame for anything and the tourist will be judged. Be careful, sometimes the minors go around with false id's). When the police stops you, just stay quiet and let your company deal with it. If she is working or studying, she is fine, if not she might be in trouble (ley peligro) and so is likely not to be found on the street with you in the first place.
2) through dating sites you can find girls, but a large group of them are looking for serious relationships and I think lying about your intentions is not ethical. Still, going on a date and seeing what happens can end in your casa, typically the second date. Girls will take their chances on you and often with success! Ethics have two sides, the cubanas will also tell you lies, but this does not mean you should make cheap promises you cannot live up to.
3) The disco's have plenty of jineteras, but also relatively normal girls, if you search well. Still, cubans understand the art of telling good lies (this is not a judgement, more an admiration), so don't take it too seriously if they say you are their first estranjero. If you like salsa, think about 1830, but be prepared for a large amount of blond overaged european women! For regueton and live music, think of Cecilia, Makumba, casa de la musica habana, el johny, el capri, cafe cantante. The discos along the rampa (23) are really sad, full of pimps and young girls, I would avoid them, but maybe it is your style. For upper class take a look in casa de la musica miramar or el turquino (hotel habana libre).

Does anybody know what the action is like in and around this particular hotel? Well the vets may get a kick out of this story because they've probably experienced it one way or another.
Let me preface this I have been to all the major spots around the world and know the game. So easy on the criticism because I knew going in the deal basically.
So my first 3 days in Cuba were over in Playa de Estes at Hotel Atlantico. An AI that was a head buzz in itself with whacky Euros and Cubans on day trips. Suffice to say there were very few hookers there and the surrounding areas I couldn't figure out.
3 days in and I have yet to crack a nut. OK – on to Havana Sunday night. Took the free shuttle into habana area and made my way down to the Hotel National area. Ahh – here are plenty of hookers. The usual hustlers pimping girls here and there. Actually one of the hustlers got me close to a really cool chick. Not hard core at all. Lawyer so she says. Only problem CBJ no exceptions. Deal breaker.
With my situation staying at Atlantico the only way the nut was going to be released was going to the chicas casa. I knew right there control was lost but hey a man needs to crack that first nut.
OK on to Salon Rojo. Got there about 11 and there are quite a number of chicas. Not a lot of guys. They had a band that night which started at 1 am. Good band actually. So I start making the rounds interviewing a few here and there. A word comes to mind for the chicas at Rojo – sharks. They look so sweet and innocent but they have that Cuban hustler in them. They have a little union there showing up night after night. Kinda reminds me of the Helpe Puta Union in Rio. LOL.
Anyway get friendly with a cool chica. She always wears this gold headband if any of you regulars go there and see her. She has gone to Miami so definitely a higher end chica if she has relatives in Miami. I guess. So we get down to negotiations and she says sesenta. I am alright with that. In the Jonesie range. Maybe some of you guys are getting chicas out of Rojo for 30 but I sure didn't see that.
I agree to go to her casa. Do the taxi shuffle outside. I actually went in the wrong cab and went around the block and got out till here driver showed up. I met them at the corner. I get in and there are 2 drivers. They look like Beavis and Butthead. LOL. They drive me somewhere in Havana. God knows where we were going. We get to this street with no streetlights. Looks like last days of Berlin. Knock on this door and 2 stoners come out of this living space. It is here at the stoners place the deed will go down.
Get into the place and it is hot with no AC. The bed was up the stairs like a loft. Climb the stairs to the loft and the bed is not done and clothes everywhere. Real romantic. LOL.
We get down to business. But of course she jacks up the price to 80 last minute. Now I am not going to fight her and be stranded who knows where in Havana so I just friggin say OK. She needs to see money but didn't take it. Rojo Shark, shark shark. LOL.
She actually had a rocking body. Sex was OK for a steaming loft with clothes everywhere. BBBJ was good. Didn't last long because of first nut. We make it downstairs and hang there for a while for Beavis and Butthead to come back to take me back. The bathroom had a tube with water. That was it as far as showers go.
I just wanted to make it home at this point. Beavis and Butthead and the stoners who lived there finally came back. I got in the cab and we headed back to rojo. We are almost to Rojo and a hear a WHACK. Yelp. Beavis looks out the window ahd says "Pero". So much for that Dog.
Naturally Beavis and Butthead tried to get more than 10 CUC for the rides. I held my ground on that one but game him a little tip. Cubans the hustlers. I made it back to Atlantico about 3AM. First nut accomplished. One of the more interesting nuts of my monger career.
End of my trip I got a casa right near Hotel National. So things progressed better when you are in control. I was really impressed by the looks of the chicas. Some really pretty girls. But I have to say many are hardcore. They are there every night. Punching that clock. Got a great girl at Casa de Musica in Miramar. Damn there were a lot of hot girls at Musica.
I'll post some more newbie thoughts in a few days.

well, i haven't posted in a long time, but i went back to havana this past april, after a 5+ year absence.
a little background. my first trip to the island was in 1999. our first day, my buddies and i met a typical extended family, while walking in the streets, 2 blocks from the catedral. the head "mom" made us a delicious dinner; and i developed a relationship with her/them since then. i went back to cuba 6 more times between 2000. 2005 (i was last there during hurricane dennis in july 2005, when i basically fucked the whole neighborhood in a span of 4 days), with different experiences/luck each time, noting things did get more difficult in regards to the police, and the $us situation, etc.
however, during that time, my spanish improved a lot, so, this, along with the help of the "neighborhood" of calle tejadillo (being known has it's benefits and set backs), has made my visits to havana pretty successful, without having to hit the club scene much, or go traveling afar (though i want to see more of cuba, as i've only been to pinar del rio, and the southwest coast, along with mantanzas).
basically, my trips go like this. "mom", my "sister" of cuba, meets me at the airport with a neighbor (driver/car), and 2 girls (1, who takes one for the "team" that first night). it's understood, that 1 of those girls will fuck me for "free", though, nothing is for free, as i bring gifts, and give "mom" some money for food, whatever. to give you an idea how time flies by, her youngests were 3 and 5 back in 1999. when i showed up at the airport in april, "mom" was with a beautie, with a fabulous the rack. yep, that was the 5 year old (now 16). i didn't dare try to tap that, but her cousin (the other girl at the airport) was mine for a few days, until i grew sick of her.

But let's not get paranoid, guys; Holguin AND Havana are just fine for mongering. PLENTY of opportunity. Parque Calixto Garcia in Holguin is the place to be, at night. Great sights. In Havana, The Malecon, Salon Rojo, The Coppelia, anywhere along 23rd street, or anywhere in Old Havana is great. Calle Obispo has great tourist bars where you can snag some action, any night of the week.
Like a 'fren' said to me once, concerning getting a girl in Cuba: "It's like shooting fish in a barrel".

Cuban officials are aware that people can fall in love and will facilitate relationships. The rule/law is that 3 strikes and you get to go to the big house.
As mentioned, the girls may not know this, but they will be affected by it.

If you're planning to visit Havana your best bet if you're on a budget is Tropicoco Hotel in Playa del Este. It across the street from the public beach and is only 20 mins from Havana. They have shuttle buses that take u from the hotel to Havana twice daily at no charge.
The closest town to the hotel is Guanabo. It's a $5 CUC taxi ride from the hotel to this town. There are 2 main discos there where u can score quite easily with the chicas. The discos are Guanabo Club and Guanimar Cabaret. They are only open one at a time....meaning, when one is open the other is closed. This way there is no confusion as to where the chicas are.
There are many "casa particulars" in Guanabo and Boca Ciega (another town in the area). The chicas know where all the casas are. Casas will cost between $20-$30 CUC.
What i like to do is: If i arrive in the daytime i check into the hotel, find a casa particular, negotiate the price (i always pay $20 CUC, never more) and book it for my entire stay. You get a better deal this way, the owner gives you the keys to your room and you are free to come and go as many times per day and night as u want. This works out much cheaper because many times my friends and i have picked up chicas 2-3 times per day and normally we would have had to pay for a casa 2-3 times each day, this gets expensive...know what i mean? My method is $20 CUC per 24hrs. So this is why i prefer to rent the casa for my entire trip, because there's nothing sweeter than hot sex in the afternoon.
If i arrive at night then i just wait till the next day to find a long-term casa. If i get lucky my first night then i just get a temporary casa for that night.
**If you are going to be a few friends traveling then i HIGHLY RECOMMEND you rent an entire house to yourselves. Get a house with 2-4 bedrooms, depending on how many guys u are. This will be a great party place. You won't even have to go to the discos. Just go to the beach, pick up some chicas and bring them back to your "PERSONAL PLEASURE PALACE". U and your friends can party all day and night without anybody bothering u and the chicas will come and go freely. And u won't have the inconvenience of having to bribe hotel security. Once the word gets out that some tourist guys have their own party house with music, food and alcohol ALL the local chicas will come flocking to you. A house like this should only cost u about $30-$70 CUC per day and some of them come with a maid to cook and clean for u. Many of these types of rental houses are located directly in Guanabo.
There are 2 ways to get the chicas into your Hotel room:
1. Have her sign in at the front desk and pay the hotel $40-$50 CUC. This way she can spend the entire night with you, have breakfast and hang out with you for hours.
*note: If she doesn't want to sign in at the hotel it's most likely because she's a professional Puta and her name is already on record with the cops. If she DOES sign in then at worst she's a "Part-timer" and the pussy hasn't been beaten up that much. ;)
2. Bribe the hotel security, offer him $10 CUC at first and see what he says, but DON'T give him any more than $20 CUC in total. He'll sneak her up to your room but you'll only have until about 5am, then he's gonna come knocking on your door to get her.

Man, you're something else!I've been going to Cuba since 1999. Seen a lot of things. Assimilated myself into the culture, learned the language, had a lot of fun. Married a girl. Divorced her five years later. Lived there for months on end. Built houses, travelled the Island. Have many friends (and many more 'frens') there, still.
I think I'm well acquainted with Cuba, in a lot of ways.

Not true. When you make a general statement like this, it only takes one example to refute your argument. I've been to Cuba many times, don't claim to be a Cuban expert but have hooked up with many girls who were not "hardcore" professionals (And having proudly spend money on hardcore professionals, I'm pretty sure I know one when I meet one). In addition, to be clear, I did not state that Cuban women were the most incredible sexual partners in the world, I merely stated that they could "move" (refer to my original report). The only other claim I made was that they were better at sex than Colombians, something I believe I am more than qualified to comment on.
In any case, everyone's experience is different, the only way for someone who has not been to Cuba to confirm who is right or who is wrong is for them to go themselves and experience it.

I have had conversations with women (whom I were not intimate) who had told me that they can't go long without sex. It shocked me because one was married and having sex with people other than her husband.
I too frequent Colombia. While the women are pretty I don't find them as much fun in the sack. That plus you have to watch your ass there. In Cuba, I can get drunk and stagger all around town and not have to worry too much.

You obviously can not comprehend the situation in Cuba by what you have asked. I highly suggest you go somewhere else or even safer, stay home since International affairs or reality is not your strong suit. There is not free enterprise there to have someone create a website of that kind. Also hardly anyone has a computer to look it up. You will definatley be taken advantage of on an island like Cuba. Sounds like you have a lot to learn yourself. More and more Cubans have internet access. Cuba is not as backwards as you make it out to be.
I have met about 6 girls from the website Badoo.com and a couple from Meetic.com. Badoo is far better (and free) and literally has hundreds of girls from Havana. However you will have to know Spanish as it will be tough to chat with a girl if you don't.

Jonesie is right; I think you've had an encounter or two in Cuba, and now think you know exactly how the score is, when in fact, you don't. At all.
Cuba is very much more than meets the eye, especially when it comes to 'one-offs' visitations. Cuba's constantly changing, as a whole, and regionally.
What's true in Holguin may not necessarily be true in Havana, or Santa Lucia, or Cienfuegos or Santiago or Pinar, for example.
You'll never get to the bottom of Cuba. Ever. You can navigate it, with some well thought-out planning, and many visits; but even then, in the blink of an eye what you thought you knew can change.
That's the challenge and the excitement of Cuba. Embrace it, or go somewhere else.

These sites seem to have a disproportionate amount of girls from Camaguey, which doesn't make sense to me. Also, a lot of photos seem to be taken in the same living room. It makes me suspicious (although everything in Cuba makes me suspicious) that someone is trying to scam foreigners with fake profiles.
Has anyone had any experiences with girls on these sites asking them to send money before you meet them in person?
It's only a once a week flight. Otherwise I'd be stalking the schedule as well.

I'd recommend trying to book 2 o 3 in the same area for a couple of days. When you get there, a lot of times they have rent out your room even though you had a reservation. This way you will have a nearby alternative.
After you are settled, you can try to find something nicer and/or cheaper.
I wouldn't want the stress of not having somewhere to stay when I first arrive.
Of course, I assume someone here has some reliable places to stay that they can recommend. I don't have any details with me currently.

I just got a Casa booked about 2 blocks south of the Hotel Cohiba where my conference will be. I'm staying at this casa on a Tuesday and Wednesday.
I heard that I should register any ladies at the casa so that the owner won't get into trouble if an inspectors comes calling. Is this just for overnight? What if I just want to bring the lady in for a few hours during the late afternoon or early evening? Do I still have to register her for a short visit?
I saw the post for the hotspots on the weekend but I won't be in Havana on the weekend. Any places worth checking out for Tuesday and Wednesdays?

You can get a girl for 2hs, 1hr, 30 mins, all night, all week, whatever you want. Everything is negotiable in Havana. I'm a big fan of the "afternoon snack" as it makes for a more relaxed night out later on.

I have never seen anything that compares again, I thought it was to good to be true. It's worth a shot to go check out the lobby bar for a couple of drinks.

Thanks everyone for all your advice so far. Everything will probably come together once I'm down there. What still confuses me a bit is if I meet somebody say on the street or even in a bar, I've read that the girls should follow you rather than walk with you on the streets so that the cops won't hassle her. IF not within walking distance back to the casa, then I hear about the girl and us having to take separate cabs again to avoid the cops.
Then once at a casa, for the owners who require registration of girls, are they going to do this even during the middle of the night? Won't they be sleeping, particularly for casas that have separate entrances (which the casa I booked has)? This part gets a bit complex too.
Then of course there's the language issues. I'm learning basic phrases to get through but I can't see myself hang out with a girl all night and even part of the day if she doesn't know much English and my Spanish vocabulary will run out within minutes.

You walk into galleria paseo and the security guy says hola, then once you pass him, he does kind of a reverse whistle to alert the wolves. Only problem is, not one of those girls in the stairwells has ever been worth taking. I've had better luck in Jazz cafe itself.

Where are the best chances of meeting English speaking girls (pros and non-pros) in Havana, excluding those who would never, ever party with tourists that is?
I have been to Havana more than 40 times in the past 7 years.Heres my advice for non pros-dont go to any club or disco that has a cover charge otherwise you will be dealing with pros pretending to be whatever you want them to be.The average Cuban makes 20-30 bucks a month so they cant afford cover charges.Hang out at the University of Havana-take a Spanish class and you will be fighting them off.Ive travelled all through S.A. in the past 7 years and the Cuban girls are by far the smartest and most desperate so just be aware of this.Pros are easy to find-Salon Rojo-Johnys-La Cecillia-Macumba on Sundays-just follow the PMM dance show around and u will have lots of hot girls trying to steal your ipod once u fall asleep-again be carefull.Cubans are great family,fun loving people like most latinos and are great to be with if you are respected by them-without respect all you are is a walking bank machine.
Heres one more tip if you want to hit clubs and find a english speaking girls which is not easy-buy a nice dress type shirt and have it embroidered "Hablas English"-"Speak English" or something like that.the girls are always looking for a reason to approach a gringo.I have a couple expensive Puta de madre shirts from Spain and they all have different expressions on them and Im always getting approached because of the shirt.Just a thought.Buenas Suerte and learn as much Espanol as possible

It's very unlikely that you will have any problem with the police. The police go after the jineteras but if she goes with you, it's very likely that she works for a pimp with connections (chivato).

Just got back from a nine day trip to Cuba. Since I got some good info from this board, I thought that I would contribute my share so at least my observations can hopefully help others.
Flight arrived in Havana and customs went through better than expected (especially after hearing from a fellow passenger about how one can get delayed with them going through your luggage). I was pretty well waved through.
Taxi out of airport was $20 CUC as expected. Local currency was easy enough to get right at airport. Had booked a casa through Cuba Junky website in advance. When I got there, some guy came up to me at the building door and claimed he worked there. He then asked me for $1 for milk for his baby. When I gave him $1 and some change, he then took off. That's when I realized I just got duped. Oh well, a good lesson for me.
The casa owner finally showed up and told me through an interpreter that my reservation was bumped since she found another person who was willing to stay a longer term than me. But fortunately, she didn't leave me hanging as she introduced me to her neighbor down the hall who was willing to rent me a room. This room actually turned out to be an entire apartment for even less than the price of my original reservation. The optional cooked meals were also less too so I was happy.
This new casa owner then confirmed with me that it was okay to bring back a girl but I had to register her. When I asked what if I came back in the middle of the night, she said it was okay to wake her up as the registration of any girl was for the mutual protection of both the casa and me.
I walked all along the Malecon and all the way from Vedado where my casa was, to old Havana and back. Didn't get any local girls approaching me at all. I opted not to visit any nightclub so early in my trip yet since I still wanted to see if it was possible to meet local non-pros on the street or at a cafe. I never did see much action at any of the cafes I went to and the Vista Allegre that I was advised to check out seemed to be under renovations.
After two nights at the casa, I went out of town for a couple of days for diving where there was no chance of any girl action because of this location's remoteness. I won't get into details of this diving place but did make it back into Havana for an event where I got complimentary rooms paid for at the Melia Cohiba hotel.
Again, no action from local non-pro girls at all, at least for me. Only thing was that I got one guy outside the hotel who wanted to set me up with girls but I never felt comfortable with this method. He did say that it wasn't a problem with hotel security if I paid his 'friend' $40.
I later checked independently with one of the doormen afterwards and was confirmed that it was indeed possible to arrange for a girl to get to my hotel room if they arranged it. Didn't discuss a bribe fee though.
On my final evening, I decided to go to Salon Rojo which was suggested by this board for weeknights and this was confirmed by the hotel doorman I talked to as well as a good choice (although the doorman did say he could arrange girls too). I liked the idea of seeing all the choices directly at once at a club so I went to Rojo. Got there for 10 pm on a Wednesday night and it was dead. Paid a $10 cover and the band wasn't to go on until 1 am. But by about 10:30 pm, the girls started to pour in.
To my surprise, the majority of the girls were blondes (fake blondes that is). A few of them approached me and gave me the quotes. Some said that my hotel would be a problem while others said all I had to do was pay the hotel security $50. None wanted to register at the hotel saying that it was too expensive an option for me (at about $100 extra for the hotel). I think they didn't want their names to appear on the hotel registration. Anyway, I did find it strange that some girls were reassuring me about the hotel security bribing option while others claimed that hotels would be impossible for chicas.
All girls offered a casa as an alternative for $30, taxi for $10 and starting price for them at $100. When I told them $100 was too much, pretty well all of them left for other possible customers. But pretty soon, the bar seemed like there were about a 2 to 1 ratio for girls to customers and I didn't see any guys leave with any of the girls.
I spotted one black haired girl I liked so one of my new male bar mates waved her over for me. Her name was something like Yanella or Yanello or something. She quoted the same figures and said the hotel was a problem but offered a casa that was within walking distance to the Cohiba. I told her that I was willing to do this option in broken Spanish if she was willing to take $60 - she didn't speak any English. I told her that we could leave right away. I added that if she doesn't accept $60, I am sorry that we could not do a deal. She agreed to my offer!
She called her taxi since she said that the use of a private car was the only way to avoid police harassment - not sure if this was true or not. I asked her if it was an amigo and she said yes but reassured me that it would be safe. About ten minutes later, it was time to go.
She instructed me to walk outside the club first and move along towards the corner to the Hotel National. We were not to take any of the licensed taxis outside. Moments later, a car pulled up in front of me and the back door opened. My ride had arrived and she was already sitting in front. When I got in, she blabbered something and reached back for my hand to again reassure me that things were okay.
When we got to the casa which was a highrise apartment, I paid her driver friend the agreed $10. An older man unlocked the building main door while a younger man waited in the lobby to take us up. She told me to give the $30 to this younger guy while we were in the elevator.
The casa was a very small apartment that seemed to consist of a hallway, a small narrow kitchen that we had to go through and then to a bedroom. The bathroom was not even there as it was outside on the floor's hallway - since I asked to use it. Got to see real high-rise Cuban living I suppose.
Inside the bedroom, she asked me to start disrobing (I'm guessing all this since she was saying everything in Spanish) while she did too. Once in bra and panties, she wanted the $60 payment. Since I was in her turf, I was okay with this. Then she wanted another $10 for a taxi. I assume it was for her to get back to the Rojo. At this point, I thought what the hell, I'm okay with this just so we can get the transaction going since I already had taken her down from $100 to $60 even though I thought that this was not too cool since it wasn't mentioned before.
After I paid her the extra $10, she started to blow me while I was still standing. After several minutes, this 21 year old motioned me to lie on the bed. She then climbed on and kissed me all over including the lips while she rode me (with a condom on of course).
After some nice moments, I motioned her to switch and lie down so we could do mish position. This position was nice too and I finished with this. She had some nice moaning and kissing throughout so I guess it was sort of GFE. Don't know what the Cuban standard was since this chick would be my only experience during my trip.
After we got dressed, she led me to the elevator. She stayed up on the floor while I was the only one who went into the elevator when it arrived. The older man unlocked the main building door and asked for $1. I was okay with this as I asked for the direction towards my hotel.
All in all, it was a good experience with a hottie. I knew from past reports that the pros at the Salon Rojo would be hard core so I wasn't expecting a type of semi-relationship experience that one would get with a non-pro over a few days. I didn't have the time left on my trip nor the Spanish skills to pull it off. I just wanted to get at least one decent lay with hot looking chick without going through a costly bad experience or having something from my hotel room stolen from me. So things worked out well even though I would have liked 1-2 more encounters with other girls during my trip.
I don't plan to return to Cuba anytime soon as there are other places in the world to visit. Although culturally interesting, I hated the fumes, the heat, the food and the broken sidewalks of Havana. I'm glad that I went and experienced Cuba as well as this one Salon Rojo girl but time to move on. It was a decent experience, maybe even a bit above average as a monger but so far for me, the best single one for me was still in Montreal. Cuba, like most other countries, didn't offer me quite enough to want to go back in the future. Hope this report is useful.

I believe the best way is to find some Cuban friends and stay there longer to measure up the situation and get a few good experiences.
Cuba is not a tourist-friendly country and some tourists have totally ruined this for us who don't want to pay a lot to have fun (with girls).
If you travel to Thailand, you'll notice that after all these years, the prices for the sex industry have not gone up drastically. Whereas, Cuba is heavily hit by poverty, embargo, and poor economy and you saw it yourself, and therefore tourists like you and I get hit by that situation too.
My expereinces in Cuba have been more good than bad. Rather than trying to find some girls, two weeks was enough to meet some nice girls. Of course, in some cases I paid too. But most of my experiences were with non-opros.

Well, at least her private taxi was in an acceptable range because this casa was about a 3 minute walk back to the hotel Cohiba. I would have paid the same $10 to get back anyway from Salon Rojo.
The best food in Cuba actually came from the casa I used for my first two nights there, also within walking distance to the Cohiba. The casa owner's son cooked me dinner for $5.
As for a non-mongering angle, a fellow passenger on the plane on the way down told me he married a Cuban about a year ago but has not started arrangements to bring her back to Canada yet. Since internet is crappy, his phone bills are $600 per month. He is staying down there for a month and seeing more of the country with his wife. He estimates that it will cost him $20 K to eventually bring her back to Canada after getting through all the immigration hurdles.
I actually met a nice local lady who was a restaurant hostess near old Havana and had thoughts of pursuing a real relationship but thinking about all the hassles that his guy told me, I decided not to, given the short duration that I was in town. I hope I don't have huge regrets.

I would agree about taking Cubanas out of Cuba. I think there's a course they take on immigration fraud at the University there. Particularly involving US citizens and our immigration laws regarding Cubans. It's called wet feet/dry feet. Meaning she could fuck every man in your family and every friend you have and she won't be deported.

Thanks Adinga. I already decided while I was down there that I wasn't going to pursue any long distance relationship for now, especially with the complications of dealing with Cuba in general. That's why I ended up at Salon Rojo for my last evening there.

I lived there for a time in 2006/2007 to study Spanish. I did have a couple normal Cuban girlfriends while there. Yes, they were everything their American sisters were not. Notwithstanding the fact that 9 out of 10 girls will only be interested in using you to get to their extended family in the US, it is not practical to meet a woman a few times briefly and know that you are suited for each other. How many girlfriends in your own country have you broken up with after a few months of seeing each other every day?
Even if she is sincere, the culture shock and being away from her friends and family are usually a lot tougher than any one expects. Especially as Cubans have close families.
The only chance of having a successful Cuban marriage is for foreigners who actually live in Cuba and can date the girls for a long period first. Even then, 80% of foreigners I know in this situation have subsequently separated with their wives.

Summary: Cuba is beyond a doubt the most putrid place I have ever been. I despised virtually every second in that socialist shithole. Aside from a handful of resort areas, the place’s filthiness is only surpassed by the dirtiness of the character of the Cubans in Cuba, which happen to be on average the most immoral and dishonest people I have ever met. The food in Cuba is equally disastrous, unhealthy, and disgusting. It’s extremely difficult to get a good meal sans the expensive upscale eateries. And if you are a Yank, you’d better bring plenty of Euros or Canadian dollars because there’s no option to resupply via an ATM or a money transfer due to banking restrictions. ***A word to the wise: Never take USD to Cuba. The governments takes 10% of the bat and it ends up being that 100 USD is 80 CUCs *** Accommodation in Cuba is an equally horrific state which mostly range from renting rooms in someone else’s house while the proprietor takes a creepy and obsessive interest in your every move. Some of the places that I was shown included such awkward arrangements as one’s living space being positioned in a location where the family can only access their living space while walking (largely unannounced) through yours.
My fucked up experience was compounded by the fact that most Cubans refused to believe I wasn’t a Cuban trying to act like a tourist. So my expressions of interests were always discarded and never taken seriously. The only people that could tell I was a foreigner were the professional guides/hustlers who make a living off scamming tourists.
Furthermore, I just couldn’t connect with any Cuban on a human basis. I’ve connected with Pashtun Warlords easier than I did with the Cubans. For one reason or another, I felt like I was from Mars and the Cubans were from Jupiter during my entire time there.
The Good: Black women. Cuba has the best looking sistas in the world. The Latinas and white girls were not bad, and there are certainly some very nice ones about, but on average the girls in this category aren’t as numerable or as pretty as the girls I had just seen in Argentina and Colombia.
Yes, if one speaks Spanish and has established connections one can fuck girls from the block for 25 or 30 CUC a pop. These girls are mostly rather average looking but certainly fuckable. The girls seem to very open to P4P. I’ve never been in a place where one can approach a seemingly normal woman and receive serious consideration for a P4P offer. Even if I did speak Espanola, I’m not the type of guy to walk up and down a street and offer girls money for sex. I didn’t find the police harassment to be as prevalent as many posters have. the next day i chatted with two black guys who were long term residents of a north american country who had been coming to cuba for years. one of them was dressed very hip-hoppish so i initially dismissed them; in my book, serious people don’t wear fubu and wide brimmed caps cocked to the side after the 8th grade. thank god i stopped and had a coffee with them because i soon learned that these guys were smart, spoke spanish, and knew cuba like the back of their hands. one of them was also somewhat wealthy as he had contracts to either export or import foodstuffs from his native african land to north america. they had the place on lock and were like the dons of old town havana and were greeted like celebrities wherever they went. they showed me the ropes and made sure that my guide didn’t rip me off. the only problem with these two was that they were solely interested in the black chicks from old town. they didn’t care for the tall latinas like i did and didn’t like going to the expensive clubs where the pretty but professional hoes were at. i don’t blame them as they were clearly in their own pussy heaven.
i saw one of the finest black women i had recently seen walk by and the fellow with the import/export business casually quipped, “you like that, yea, she’s real pretty.” five minutes later the girl was seated next to me and we were making plans for the evening. i was just tickled giddy as this six foot tall mulatta could have signed a contract with ford or elite upon first sighting. we had dinner at the steakhouse at nh and went to the famous tropicana show before hitting a club that featured some famous cuban band that boasted a 15 cuc cover. we went back to my crib and she started arguing with the casa owner about having her name recorded in the hoe book. ***it was then that i decided that staying in a room in someone else’s house was a no-go and that i needed to secure autonomous accommodation asap. *** i had a very hard time connecting with the cubans and tried to break the ice by showing her some pictures on my laptop. after about six minutes she looked at me and said, “how much do you pay me?” i replied 50 cucs for the night and she just shrieked in feigned disbelief. she them began to rattle off the 110 cuc tropicana affair (most of it being the 60 for me ticket with 1/2 a bottle of rum and 40 for her), the 72 cuc dinner, and the 30 cuc spent to go to the show at the club. i could empathize with her logic, but her demand for 100 cuc was too much to pay pussy in cuba. the histrionics continued and i finally put 40 cuc on the table for one shot. **aside from western women or other highly sought after gals, most 2nd and 3rd world hookers that live hand-to-mouth don’t appreciate expensive meals and vacations. they prefer more tangible shit like rent money and clothes. fancy things have little value if one’s basic needs are not met.*** i fucked her missionary for about five minutes until i saw her roll her eyes at me which prompted me to ask her to leave. her demeanor suddenly brightened as she got dressed and left.
at this point, i should have just gotten the first flight back to argentina where i had been 72 hours before and had a blast but i failed to heed my better judgment.
the next day i told my buddies about what happened and they suggested that the terms of the transaction be explicitly discussed and agreed to prior to any more dealings with cuban woman. vets should be able to adhere to this rule less stringently, but newbies should follow it to help militate against misunderstandings.
that night i decided to have a party and my guide and the other guys from the coffee shop brought over six girls, two of which were very good looking but still hoodrats from old town. i bought food, shared my duty free gold label, baileys, coconut rum, and red bull. the cubans complained that the music wasn’t loud enough and one pretty black girl walked back to my bedroom, stripped down, and said, “how much are you going to pay me?” i said 25 cucs and she replied with a what you talkin bout willis look and put her clothes back on and exited my flat with the other pretty black girl….but not before she greedily and hastily drained ¼ the bottle of baileys. two girls stayed behind solely to drink the imported liquor and red bull. i caught one latina coming out of the bathroom and fucked her for 30 minutes for 30 cuc.
***i later learned that each guy there was getting a cut of the woman’s fee. therefore, with three dudes trying to get their cut from 25 cucs it wasn’t worth it to the girls to spread their legs for 10 or 15 cucs. it behooves one to remember that 95% of all cubans won’t do anything for you unless they think they can get something from you in the near term. cuba is fucked up in the respect that the people are largely imprisoned and can’t travel so the girls don’t see you as a potential boyfriend/husband/savior. they only see you as a something to exploit the fuck out of for the short time that you are there. ***
the next day i was walking with my friend in the square and the police asked for my id. i smiled and showed him my dl when the dude i was with went bezerk and started accusing the cops of being racist for only asking for my id and not that of our scandinavian and anglo/french canadian pals. *** i have traveled all over the world and always smile and comply with the police when stopped. cops in violent places like russia and the usa are mostly bullies looking for an excuse to beat, taser, or get kinetic at the slightest provocation. they are normally not the brightest lads in the world and are trained that nervousness, aggression, and agitation by the confronted are telltale signs of guilt and when encountered require a heightened state of alert. that’s why smiling and speaking in simple declarative sentences gets one beyond 95% of all casual law enforcement contact.*** i’m sure that my buddy was correct; cuba for all of its socialist anti-capitalist rhetoric is a place with a rigid and unforgiving class system where the people will do all matters of unethical things for usd. but still: be smart. be cool to the cops, show your id, and 40 seconds later you’ll be on your way. my buddy just looses it and starts waving his fists in the face of the four or so cops that have gathered around us. i tried to calm him down but his threats become reality and he starts beating up the cops. the dude was some sort of martial artist as he was using hand grabs and arm locks to disable the cops. finally, after about ten cops show up the one in charge pleads with us to get into the back of the police car. i get in and begged the guy to do the same. i was terrified as the police seemed to be more focused on me than him—the guy that just assaulted them. the cops were oddly distant and cold but not really physically threatening. all the while my buddy is saying, “they can’t do shit to us, we aren’t cuban.” to make a long story short, he was correct. we went to the station and were led to the immigration office where an officer asked us a few questions about where we were from and then he let us go without so much as a report.

I hooked up with a Cuban American for three days who introduced me to aspects of Cuba previously unknown. Cuban Americans are great people to hang with in Cuba because they are well regarded cultivated social connections that demand long term care—as opposed to being a tourist where the people are infatuated with robbing you as much as they can as quickly as they can…think being a rental car acquired for a cross country journey vs a car leased for 48 months. The only downside about hanging with a Cuban American is that the hoes may dismiss you as a potential mark because they know that Cuban Americans won’t pay more than necessary and are not susceptible to the feel sorry for me pity stories that the girls often employ.
There are a number of discos—most of which have previously been mentioned by OPs—that charge covers from 7-15 CUCs where there are good looking girls to be had for 60-80 CUCs for the night. These girls are all hard core hoes, with Pimps/boyfriends, who won’t negotiate much on their price. I saw one big tittied but short blond girl reject offers of 50 and 60 CUCs for four nights in a row until a German paid her 70. If I was born there I’d probably be the same way but I wasn’t so I’m not. The place was so boring I watched Friday Night Lights Season 2-4, Spartacus (call me your Maximus), and every Ross goes to Afghanistan episode in three or four days time.
I suppose if one had deep and longstanding ties to Cuba, a willingness to live in an isolated shithole with no amenities, eating crappy food, while paying $10 an hour for dial-up internet, Cuba could be ok.

I can totally understand your point of view. Good thing I went there for more than just mongering. I didn't like the fumes of Havana, the crappy sidewalks and even with sticking to bottled water, I still got the runs during my last night there. Other travellers said it might be from food preparation. I didn't even bother with internet access.
But I'm glad that I went there to see everything for myself. I don't see myself returning as there are other places to go to (Rio, Curacao, other south America). Cuba is now a 'been there, done that' destination for me.

Cubans are very hard to get close too and they have to be watched all the time.

Through personal connections, as with any other field, would likely produce the most trustworthy candidates. Although maybe few in number, there have been some success stories. Wordsmithing aside, I don't think that asking a cuban in canada if she has any hot friends that want to come to canada via marriage is a winning strategy.
the shelf life of the relevant intel is pretty short. If you define a succesful marriage as three + years without a divorce then the cuban woman in canada with the gringo has been removed from her community for at least that long and no longer knows the ground truth which you seek.

I'll have been intel from other guys who have recently married Cubans soon. One other example I do know from Montreal is that there has been a success story with one couple for over ten years. Yes, like many couples domestically, there was a glitch at mid-point where she left Canada and went back to Cuba. But she came back shortly and like I said, they celebrated their 10th anniversary. Of course, this is probably not the norm.

Coming from a Miami native(yes there are a few), we have a saying here that MOST women from other countries rot in customs. In other words once they get in they totally change and become rotten just like the native women. In spanish it sound mush better "Se pudren en la aduana". This report about last Summer's visit to Havana is about one week of fun and starts on a Friday evening. A regular friend comes over at around 9pm to say goodbye before she goes out of town for the weekend to Varadero to dance with her group. She wants to see me, she claims and she wants sex. On Thursday I am supposed to meet up with one of the sisters and her cousin. We will have a look at a nice casa with a small piscina (pool) somewhere in centro Habana. I decide not to go with them, as the first sister starts to claim me as her boyfriend. I decide to see the house which is really nice for another day and leave. I feel a bit guilty, so call the cousin to come over. After her blaming me a bit (the regular bla bla), we get onto it. This girl is hot, she drinks 4 beers within 1 hour (I did not insist, she wanted more and more) and gets really horny. In the evening I take it easy. I plan to meet up with the three girls from Wednesday in the new place with the piscina tomorrow.
Early in the morning they show up. We get to the house, but the atmosphere is not like last Wednesday. If you come out of the Inglaterra Hotel and take your first right (walking along the street next to the hotel as it were) after about 50 meters you will see a bar with a load of girls hanging outside. The bar is called Nautilus. The girls were maybe 7's to 8's but really quite nice and maybe 10 girls in total. It was completely obvious and quite out in the open. If you dont see the girls hanging around outside then just go inside. This was about 8pm.

So we walk up the street and go to a room and she asks me for another $20 which was annoying but no big deal. We were in a locked room with no means of exit or escape which i hate and always makes me paranoid. Anyway a long story short we did the deed, it was really great, great BBJ, great sex, not hurried and overall very enjoyable. I was paranoid and finished quickly to get out of there but actually i need not of been paranoid...it was just so easy and went down without any hitch whatsoever (apart from the extra $20).

The area of Inglaterra is quite a mess. With so many cameras down there, what do you think would be the reason why these girls can strike deals with yumas relatively open?
A (female) friend who lives down there told me that in the barrio of Colon (basically the area from Inglaterra to the Malecon) a large chunk of the jineteras are drugs addicted. But of course you also have girls from the East there, who rent a room and try to make a living.
But of course stay away from anything related to drugs, there are quite a bit of countries where you can combine girls with drugs, don't do it in Cuba. When a girl starts to talk to me about any type of drugs, it is next for me.
My experience is that Salon Rojo has more hardened pros than La Cecilia, where you can find also somewhat more normal girls. The reason I think is that Salon Rojo is opposite to Hotel Nacional, so police presence is heavy. But in Salon Rojo the girls are more classy (and more expensive.).

Salon Rojo is close to Habana Libre, 5 min walk, Habana Libre Disco (El Turquino of course is close, it is in Habana Libre).
Cecilia is 8 to 10 CUC taxi drive, it is in Miramar, 5ta avenida. Casa de La Musica Miramar about 5-7CCUC taxi drive, also in Miramar, but much closer.
Entrance to Cecilia is 5-10cuc (unless there is a concert then 15-20cuc), to Salon Rojo really depends on whether there is a concert, during the week also 5-10cuc. Turquino and Casa de la musica miramar, I think 10cuc.
Drinks in La Cecilia are quite a bit cheaper than in the others. A bottle of Habana Club blanco is 15cuc in Cecilia and about 30cuc in Salon Rojo.
Where to stay? The places to go out are really dispersed, still most of them in Vedado and Miramar. I always stay in Centro Habana not so far from vedado, as you are more in a neighbourhood with many people on the street.
Also rich cubans go to Cecilia and Salon Rojo (don't know the other two). I would suggest taking her to a concert of regueton/salsa, you have to check before where, the places always differ, check this website with weekly updates, http://www.Salsamania. It/habanacuba/menu%20habanacuba.htm, or again ask a cab driver in front of a big disco.
Cheap discos with only cubans are not very popular among girls, The philosophy is that if you are with a yuma and he can pay it, you are not going to look for trouble in a cheap disco with only cubans meaning bronca (fights). I don't really agree that only cubans=bronca, but this is how most girls think.
For a cuban place that is quiet and not cheap, try el Don Cangrejo (taxi drivers will know, somewhere in miramar). For a mostly cuban place with lots of regueton, try El Jhony, also in miramar (just after crossing the tunnel from Vedado). If you like salsa, 1830 (in the weekend), but be prepared to see lots of european females.

I was in Salon Roja last night and it was pretty limited in terms of action. I was there from 11pm until 12:30 and there were not that many girls in there and the ones that were looked really hardcore, cold and professional. Any interaction with these girls would be a real hassle by the looks of it. High demands and high maintenance. Just wasnt worth it in my opinion.
By contrast I was getting aproached every 5 minutes whilst walking around Old Havana at night. Decent looking girls too (didn't outwardly seem like druggie types) and all seemed ok with $40 for the girl and $20 for the room. Much less hassle too as the rooms are all within easy walking distance and right in the main tourist area so you feel quite safe. I have a distinct feeling that the girls have a lot more to lose than you if they get caught here and so the risk semed low.
All things considered I will give the discos and nightclubs a wide berth and stick to the streets of old havana and the area around Ingalterra (although I am slightly biased as I am staying in that area which makes things a lot easier)

All you can drink is rather uncommon at the moment, the only place I remember I encountered it is La Makumba on Sundays. But if you buy a big bottle of rum it is like all you can drink, the only problem is that the younger the girls and the more they are habanera, the more likely they drink beer instead of ron. Drinking rum is an indication that a girl is from the east if she is younger than 25.
Quality of food, indeed going with a jinetero you will be lead to a paladar (private restaurant) , but you will have to pay some comision. Two popular and cheap restaurants among cubans are La Casalta in Miramar (just after the tunel) and Los Nardos, opposite the capitolio, both with queues at the time of dinner (7pm-9pm). If you want to impress your date, invite her to have dinner at Las Torres in El Vedado close to Hotel Nacional, will cost you around 25cuc pp, you can also go for drinks there and you will spend less. The view is fabulous.

I stayed in a casa in Havana for three nights and the home cooked dinners were only $5. Better than any of the restaurants I went to in town. Then on the opposite scale, I had an all you can eat buffet at a dive resort in Maria la Gorda. It was the absolute worse food I've ever had anywhere in the world. It was so bad I was actually laughing while eating! Meat was overcooked, cold and tasteless. Almost like the cook didn't give a crap.

This report about last Summer's visit to Havana is about one week of fun and starts on a Friday evening. A regular friend comes over at around 9pm to say goodbye before she goes out of town for the weekend to Varadero to dance with her group. She wants to see me, she claims and she wants sex. Oh boy! It has been a while since I have written a report so here it goes:
Day 1:
Arrived at Varadero at 9:30AM and took the taxi to Viazul station for 23CUCs. The bus right on time at 11:30AM and it was a 3 hour ride to Havana with a couple of stops on the way. Let me emphasize that Viazul buses are very close to Greyhound buses in Canada in terms of comfort and quality, and not flying to Havana directly from Toronto saved me and my wingman $700 total! Anyhow, upon arrival to Havana my casa particular Joseph picked us up and off we went to our casa in Vedado. Before going to Havana I had pre-booked 1 other casa just in case Joseph did not show up or something. When we got to our casa, we were amazed by the size and cleanliness. I mean there was a dining room, a living room, breakfast area, kitchen (of course) with all the pots and pans, and 3 bedrooms. 2 of which had its own washroom. The 1st thing we did was to take a shower and then get some food, since we were starving since we had not ate since breakfast. Joseph was our guide for the 1st day and took us to a nearby cheap restaurant. The food was OK. I had fish filet with rice. Also bought Joseph his lunch as my compliment. Then we went for a walk around the malecon and saw some sights and returned home for a couple hours of nap. I told Joseph to find us some chicas for when we wake up. Joseph knocks on my door at 10:30 PM and says he has 2 chicas, so I wash my face and go to the living room and WOW! 2 girls with tight bodies but 1 also had an amazing face. I started negotiating with the pretty face when my wingman walked in. To make long story short, these skanks started at 100CUC, and after hard negotiating, we brought it down to 70CUC but since we had just arrived, we sent them home and called a taxi. My bullshit alarm goes off. Whatever. So at the bar he bring me a girl and since I haven't popped a nut yet, I accept her offer of 50CUCs, bringing it down form 60CUCs. So we leave the bar and nearby there was some kind of a street party. The hustler tells us to wait in the alleyway, while he goes in to find a chica for my wingman. After 5 mins he comes back with a goog looking chick with nice racks and curly blond hair, but my wingman thinks she looks hardcore. So we agree to go back to casa and the hustler calls his driver and this time I tell him I will pay him 5CUCs to Vedado or he can buzz off. He agrees, so me, my buddy and my chica go to our casa. The hustler tells me to give the chica some gift for him as we are driving off. Yeah right! I give him a nod. Anyways as soon as we get out of the car, the chica acts paranoid and tells me "vamos", so we ran to our casa and when we get to my room, she asks for 60CUCs, all this time acting grumpy in the taxi, no smile, no communication. Nothing. I tell her we agreed on 50CUCs. Finally asks me to put the money on the table 1st. Now I am pissed off! I tell her to get dressed and get out. She turns 180 degrees and calls "mi amore I am sorry" and agrees to my terms. I am like "you fucked my mood" *****. So as she is leaving, she is swearing at me in Spanish, and then she has the nerves to ask for taxi money! I did not give her a dime and got rid of her. By now it is 11:45PM and both of us were tired, so we call it a night.

Day 3:
Went to old havana and did the touristy thing, drank some beers at the Plaza de la Cathedral, then went to another nice square where my wingman spotted a girl smiling at him. Day 4:
Today we did the same thing and went touring Havana during daytime and when the night came we went to grab a few drinks at the seafood restaurant at the malecon, near Hotel Presidente. Day 6:
After trying really hard to get my old friend to come with me to Cienfuegos, I said fuck it, I am going with or without you. Got the casa owner to call Viazul and get the schedule and lucky for me, he is originally from Cienfuegos and his wife lives in Cienfuegos. He even arranged a casa for me. Bus left at 2:30pm and I arrived at I believe at 6:30PM. Got to say, Cuban countryside sucks. All you see is Bush, trees, and some sugarcane fields. No agriculture whatsoever. No wonder people are starving and food sucks there. Anyway, when we got to Cienfuegos, there was a blackout. I was kind of worried until I stepped out of the bus and this old lady holding a flashlight calls my name "Sam, Sam". I knew she was Joseph's wife. We exchanged greetings and I followed for a good 30 mins on foot until we got to the casa. By now I am really starving and there is no electricity. After an hour the power comes back up, and I ask the casa owner if she know of any good restaurants. She says ther is a paladare (cuban homes turned into restaurants) just around the corner and that a lots of tourists go there. I got to say, this place had better food than I have had in all of Cuba so far. A little expensive though, but the portions were big. After I finished 2 plates of fish fillet and a dozen tiger shrimp kabobs, I started getting really horny. There was a Cuban man having a drink on the ledge across from me and I ask him if he know any discos. Yes he says, in fact there is live music at a nightclub not too far. So we talk a little and I buy him a drink. He tells me he can take me there but I would have to come to his home so he can change. We take a bicitaxi to his house and I wait in the living room until he got ready. Got to know his son and wife and we chatted a little bit. When we left, we took the local bus, which was not bad, to our destination and he paid for the fair. At the club entrance, there was security guarding the gate, and to the side was a booth where you buy the tickets. Prices were 5CUC for foreigners and 2CUCs for Cubans. Antonio (my guide) says to give him my CUCs so that he can change it to Cuban pesos so that we can pay less to get in. In the end it still cost me 5CUCs but that covered Antonio's admission as well. It was around 11:30pm and I saw quite a few of those famous Italian dudes as well as a few foreign white girls. The settings for this club was very nice. You pass the security gate to get into the courtyard, which has a 1 story motel and when you pass the motel, on the other side you have open area where they have the bar and where people dance, and past that you have the Bay of Cienfuegos. Very romantic. They say Cienfuegos has a lot of white people, which I prefer. I would say it was not THAT evident. But there were a few beautiful white / olive complexion chics that were together and I was eyeing them all night. I told Antonio to find me a chica. I've been reading through some of the recent posts going back a few months. I was last in HAV in July, did not get to any clubs as was with my Cuban gf, but that's over, long story. Will be headed back there next week and am hoping to get some action while there. Ideally I'll try non-pros, but that's almost a non-starter, I know from experience. Anyway how's the club scene. What are some of the best spots in HAV to hit for hot chicks. I hear Salon Rojo is still good. Heard they closed down La Cecilia, is that true?

Bus left at 2:30pm and I arrived at I believe at 6:30PM. Got to say, Cuban countryside sucks. All you see is Bush, trees, and some sugarcane fields. No agriculture whatsoever. No wonder people are starving and food sucks there. Anyway, when we got to Cienfuegos, there was a blackout. I was kind of worried until I stepped out of the bus and this old lady holding a flashlight calls my name "Sam, Sam". I knew she was Joseph's wife. We exchanged greetings and I followed for a good 30 mins on foot until we got to the casa. By now I am really starving and there is no electricity. After an hour the power comes back up, and I ask the casa owner if she know of any good restaurants. She says ther is a paladare (cuban homes turned into restaurants) just around the corner and that a lots of tourists go there. I got to say, this place had better food than I have had in all of Cuba so far. A little expensive though, but the portions were big. After I finished 2 plates of fish fillet and a dozen tiger shrimp kabobs, I started getting really horny. There was a Cuban man having a drink on the ledge across from me and I ask him if he know any discos. Yes he says, in fact there is live music at a nightclub not too far. So we talk a little and I buy him a drink. He tells me he can take me there but I would have to come to his home so he can change. We take a bicitaxi to his house and I wait in the living room until he got ready. Got to know his son and wife and we chatted a little bit. When we left, we took the local bus, which was not bad, to our destination and he paid for the fair. At the club entrance, there was security guarding the gate, and to the side was a booth where you buy the tickets. Prices were 5CUC for foreigners and 2CUCs for Cubans. Antonio (my guide) says to give him my CUCs so that he can change it to Cuban pesos so that we can pay less to get in. In the end it still cost me 5CUCs but that covered Antonio's admission as well. It was around 11:30pm and I saw quite a few of those famous Italian dudes as well as a few foreign white girls. The settings for this club was very nice. You pass the security gate to get into the courtyard, which has a 1 story motel and when you pass the motel, on the other side you have open area where they have the bar and where people dance, and past that you have the Bay of Cienfuegos. Very romantic. They say Cienfuegos has a lot of white people, which I prefer. I would say it was not THAT evident. But there were a few beautiful white / olive complexion chics that were together and I was eyeing them all night. I told Antonio to find me a chica. He told me to sit on the bench by the water, away from everybody else and he will get me a gilr. Comes back after 30 mins with a friendly chica but 6/10 on looks. I politely refuse and I point to the chicas that I am interested. Again Antonio goes to see if he can sweet talk them into getting with me. But there is a bar close by where I can find chicas. About 5 mins drive from the club we come to a typical outdoor Cuban bar and drink beers and scan the scene. In no more than 10 mins, I see this smokin chick step out of a car and heading towards where out table was. I tell Antonio to talk to her, and she sits right next to me. I am like, :Antonio, how much does she want?", he says "25 CUCs". I says vamos! We stop an old Chevy and drive 2KM and pull over. Antonio tells me to follow her and he will wait for me in the corner. We go inside someone's home and this guy asks me for 10CUCs which I pay. When the door was closed, this girl started with a nice BJ and then I put on the Johnny for some doggy. It's Sunday afternoon. 5 pm. My apartment is on San Rafael, a pedestrian street in Centro. I am not sure what to do, but buy a Bucanero and head to Casa de la Musica Galiano, two blocks away. Luckily, there is a Salsa concert and the entrance fee for Cubans is in moneda nacional, whereas foreigners pay 5 CUC.
All tables are "reservado" even if empty when the concert starts. I am standing at the right lower bar and having a drink, the band is really good and all Cubans start to dance. I would guess the Cuban-Foreigner ratio was 70:30 usually it's the other way round.
The concert is almost over and I decide to go down to the dance floor when I suddenly see her. She has a nice smile and doesn't look like a pro at all. I try to gain her attention knowing that there will be one or two more songs until they close. At this moment a woman aged around 50 asks me if I speak Spanish. I say yes and she asks me if I would like to get to know this girl. It turns out she is her aunt and the girl is visiting her in Havana. As there are lots of policemen outside plus a camera, I tell her to follow me to my place in distance. She walks back to the girl, talks a bit, and nods. Okay, time for fun!

I've been reading through some of the recent posts going back a few months. I was last in HAV in July, did not get to any clubs as was with my Cuban gf, but that's over, long story. Day 7:
So I returned to Havana from Cienfuegos and my good man Joseph was there at the Viazul with a driver. Went back to my casa to relax for a bit, and have some Crystals. Initially our plan was to sleep early because we had a light back to Toronto at 10:30 from Varadero. Joseph had the news that he found a driver that will drive us there for 60CUCs. That is an amazing deal since Viazul does not leave that early to make it to Varadero in time and normal taxis were asking for 120CUCs. So I tell my wingman since this is our last night, fuck the sleep, lets just go to the Malecon and see if we can catch a fish. Since we were hungry, we decided to go to the seafood restaurant right on the malecon, very close to Hotel Presidente. As we were eating our filet de pescado (fish fillet) , this chick with crosseyes sits next to us and started to bargain with us. I politely made up bullshit and dismissed her. A few mins later another 2 chicks sit next to us and started talking in broken English, asking us if we want a novia. Both of these chicks were cute, young, and had nice tits. Cuban Americans are great people to hang with in Cuba because they are well regarded cultivated social connections that demand long term care—as opposed to being a tourist where the people are infatuated with robbing you as much as they can as quickly as they can. Think being a rental car acquired for a cross country journey vs a car leased for 48 months. The only downside about hanging with a Cuban American is that the hoes may dismiss you as a potential mark because they know that Cuban Americans won't pay more than necessary and are not susceptible to the feel sorry for me pity stories that the girls often employ.
There are a number of discos—most of which have previously been mentioned by OPs—that charge covers from 7-15 CUCs where there are good looking girls to be had for 60-80 CUCs for the night. These girls are all hard core hoes, with Pimps / boyfriends, who won't negotiate much on their price. I saw one big tittied but short blond girl reject offers of 50 and 60 CUCs for four nights in a row until a German paid her 70. The 'in club' changes from day to day and it crucial to have a local hook up that can direct you to the proper place for the evening—Jimmy'z is hot one day and empty the next.
Another good thing about Cuban Americans is that they have access to locations where the few 8. 5s-9s hang out. I went to one very out of the way place- I want to say Amazon but I am likely mistaken- where they had a fashion show around 2000 with a stage full of beautiful girls. I only saw one or two other Western tourists there but did see quite a few deep pocketed Mexicans. These girls go from between 100-150 CUCs. I paid 130 CUCs for a one such girl which was the highlight of my trip. We hung out the next day but she lost interest in me when I declined to entertain her suggestion that I pay to smuggle her out of Cuba to Mexico.
Conclusion: I hated Cuba and Cubans didn't much take to me either—my Scandinavian friend told me that the people thought I was both too 'corporate' and stingy. I ended up cutting short my trip and found the place to be either too down market or too expensive for me. The black girls were hot, but the other shades were hotter with much less hassle in virtually every other prominent Latin American country. Cubans are subjected to some pretty intense propaganda and are generally close minded, insular, unproductive, and lazy. They tried to overcharge me on my bill about 33% of the time to which I subsequently deducted the amount they tried to overcharge me from the correct amount. I was pretty bellicose during my last three days or so there.
They have matinees at discos so the people can start dancing and drinking at 1700 in the afternoon on a weekday. All most Cubans do is dance, make music, fuck, and scam people. If I was born there I'the probably be the same way but I wasn't so I'm not. The place was so boring I watched Friday Night Lights Season 2-4, Spartacus (call me your Maximus) , and every Ross goes to Afghanistan episode in three or four days time.
I suppose if one had deep and longstanding ties to Cuba, a willingness to live in an isolated shithole with no amenities, eating crappy food, while paying $10 an hour for dial-up internet, Cuba could be ok.
Not my cup of tea though. Spot on Analysis here. Cuban newbies should print and read a few times.

As many a poster has said, Cuba as a sex destination, is truly lacking if that is your only reason. If you are there doing other things, Cuba can be a fun place.
Well I just got back and would have to agree with the last post-Cuba is not the best destination if sex is your primary purpose for visiting. Although there are plenty of absoloutely sexy and very hot latinas everywhere you look, it can often be a pain in the ass to get together with one. I have always wanted to go and explore the island, especially before Fidel knocks off and am glad to say that I have seen it before it changes forever. To be honest I had no idea just how much of a police state the island is, or at least is at this moment. People, both men and women, seemed to be very nervous about being seen talking with forigners.
Havana was the worst, even inside Casa de la Musica whilst talking to a chica a few times they would suddenly hush up and explain that an undercover cop was nearby. I managed to hook up with a nice blond student for 50CUC at a matinee and had a nice time, although my casa wasn't chica friendly so we had to do the whole you follow behind me routine, a big pain in the ass. She was very pretty. 19 years old super tight body and tight pink pussy. I t would have been much better without all the rigamorole which kind of ruined the mood for me.
Once I got out of Havana things seemed to ease up a lot, although the only daytime action in many cities was by hardcore putas. Camaguay.

Sublimely beautiful and nothing more needs to be said. These are the moments, and they are frequent, that make Cuba worthwhile.
Pinar del Rio.
The most scenic of all. Walking with a tour guide through the countryside on a Sunday-was taken to a secret cockfight in the middle of nowhere, only men- gambling and drinking cheap rum. Cowboys-guajiros having fun betting like millionaires.

Sorry I don't have time for a more detailed account. I 'm not sure if I would go back to Cuba. I loved it but it is often a hassle, and travelling around is not cheap. If money weren't a concern perhaps I would go, rent a car with a driver and go more east. Many time I was told that Holguin was the best, but I'the say Camaguey was the best for me.
Old Havana was beautiful, just hanging out and walking around sucking in the vibe, but as far as chicas go I'd get out of Havana and head east.

Sorry I don't have time for a more detailed account. I 'm not sure if I would go back to Cuba. I loved it but it is often a hassle, and travelling around is not cheap. If money weren't a concern perhaps I would go, rent a car with a driver and go more east. Many time I was told that Holguin was the best, but I'the say Camaguey was the best for me.

Just got back last night for a run to Havana. Got in at about 10:30pm, made it out to Habana centro around 11:30, after a shuffle of 4 casas I found a place to stay, ironically they mentioned that if I want to bring girls it's no problem, score. It's now about 12:30am so I figure I should head out for some action. I walked up to la rampa it was kind of dead, so I walk to Salon Rojo to see what was going on. I've never actually been inside this place due to the last time I went, they asked me for 30 cucs cover and no one was there really. The place was raging, full of the typical assortment of Cuba's finest. Bleached blonds, loads of flaquitas and in my opinion the best negras on the planet. After a lap around to see my options and turning down several, I find a tiny blond to my liking who of course was a hardcore hustler. Something about strong arming the sharks I get a kick out of though and it seems they do too. I know in my experience in Latin America, Latinas love to take advantage of weakness and in Cuba it's on a completely different level. These chicks are good at what they do and it can be fun to play the game if you're not a weakling. Anyways, after I get done with the battle of cien we settle on a price and have another drink. Off to the casa. She was probably the most hardcore of chicas I have been with in Cuba but still layed me out like they do best. God I love that. Next night off to La Cecila, which was closed during my last trip, I was excited to get back out there because after my first trip I had such a good time I knew I needed to be back there at some point. It was going strong at about midnight, probably around 100 girls with more coming in as the night went on. Took a brunette out of there who I met in Salon Rojo the night before. She was way better than the girl from the previous night, I love a Cubana on her A game. It's great when they just go with it and know how to provide a good service without all that hustling bull. As much as I love to play their games and think it can be amusing for a day or so, it's so nice getting a Cubana who no questions asked goes for less than cien, isn't begging for taxi money, destroys you in bed and doesn't ask for money up front. Cut my knee open about 6 inches on a mattress spring while shagging her, she claimed to be a medico student and cleaned me up, LOL. Good thing I got a tetanus shot a few years ago. All in all I still love Cuba and will be back asap. I think on of the best thing you can do there is take phone numbers of the people who get it and aren't just out for a quick couple cucs. Not just chicas but casas, taxis and everything else you go to Cuba for. Remember, keep them on their island and don't be weak.

If someone is thinking to visit Cuba with the idea of cheap sex and the caribean paradise FORGET IT.
It's outrageous expensive even for a deeppockets. All is ilegal (normal things like go with a girl in the street could be a danger) My mother tonge is spanish and really the cubans you'll find in your trip (around tourism) are mostly trying to scam you with any excuse.
Really Cuba was finished many many years ago (around 2000) the ones you are going now really it's better to burn your money at home, in Cuba you'll spend a lot but with a bitter feeling that you are being robbed by people with dirty tricks and they don't care of it.
The strange thing is happening with Cuba that little people that is visiting the island has like a stokolm sindrome most of them don't really explain the true. Cuba is not easy, but certainly not done nor expensive. Fact is, you either know what ou are doing or you do not.

Reading this made me nod a lot in agreement and laugh at the absurd feel of a place like Cuba.
Ten times much better place to chase girls and have fun in 2011. Cuba is NOT one of them. Give me a break! He paid + 100CUC for a chica in Cuba wherein he could have had a 8-10 fo $15-$20. And this was the highlight of his trip. THank heaven I do not know any of you folks!

You should be able to pick up most with an offer of 40-50CUC and the remaining stragglers for around $60CUC. This of course doesn't include the "you rocked my world, so here's a little extra" premium that could be around $5CUC.
Don't think you need "deep pockets" to go to Cuba but you're going to have to work a little harder and it can get expensive fast if you're not careful.

i'd really like to know whats going on there recently; i will be there in april. i have been to havana several times over the past year-just returned 10 days ago so i'm up to speed. let me know what type of info you are looking for and i will try to help out. the previous posts are correct-you either know whats going on in havana or you don't. but after spending a week in colombia. 8 days in venezuela (3 in caracas) and these were the 3 worst 3 travel days of my life and i've been around. all i can say is good job chavez. how he ruined a country in 10 years is amazing:|and spending 6 days in havana here's my advice. don't go near caracas-its a bloody disaster-havana was great but without my black book, a network of friends i can reasonably trust, and multiple trips under my belt it would be a challenge for a first timer. of course it depends on what your looking for-cheap sex, bar scene, street action. each trip to havana gets a bit more difficult in a multitude of ways. finally, colombia was great- both bogota and medellin. hitting 3 different countries over 3 weeks provides a pretty good perspective.

Now my Spanish is not flawless but I'm far from beginner if I had to quantify my Spanish level, I would say advanced but not native. I have Mexican accent when speaking Spanish but have begun developing a Dominican one.
So my question is, how to I handle the immigration / passport / customs thing in Cuba when I arrive? So my plan is to go to DR and stay for a week or so then take one of the many flights from Santo Domingo to Havana, I think they have 1, 3 times a week.
I know I will have to show my passport when I get to Cuba but how is that situation handled? Or what should I expect when landing and going through the immigration process?

You will not have any problems getting through immigration-lots of USA citizens in Cuba right now. Also, they don't stamp passports so returning to US is easy-several of my US friends just left last week. What you may have to provide proof of insurance coverage-I've seen no signs of re-enforcement of this new law but I'm Canadian so they leave us alone. I've flown into Havana on 3 different carriers in the last 2 months and have not seen 1 person showing ins. Documents. Just make sure you have a piece of paper showing some type of insurance coverage-you never know when this could change or one of the "bored" customs officials wants to have some fun with a tourist.

It is Monday morning, I have a week to go and I am up for more crazy things. Another regular is visiting me, she wants to start a business in clothes and needs 60cuc. On Thursday I am supposed to meet up with one of the sisters and her cousin. We will have a look at a nice casa with a small piscina (pool) somewhere in centro Habana. I decide not to go with them, as the first sister starts to claim me as her boyfriend. I decide to see the house which is really nice for another day and leave. I feel a bit guilty, so call the cousin to come over. After her blaming me a bit (the regular bla bla) , we get onto it. This girl is hot, she drinks 4 beers within 1 hour (I did not insist, she wanted more and more) and gets really horny. In the evening I take it easy. I plan to meet up with the three girls from Wednesday in the new place with the piscina tomorrow.
Early in the morning they show up. We get to the house, but the atmosphere is not like last Wednesday. My two cents. Went there last year on a whim lazily thinking it was still a monger's paradise. It was only when I got back thinking WTF. That I signed up to this site and realised I'd been at least 5 years late.
My spanish isn't bad and I was supposed to be at Havana University for a month improving it while being booked in at a chica-friendly casa particular. GFEs guaranteed I thought as I imagined I'd be living inside a Bacardi ad (cool bars, friendly people) but Cubans are way too poor to go out drinking and they've been warned off from hanging out with foreigners.
Plenty of shark-eyed pros about but getting them home was wearing. The police swooped twice on chicas as we walked out of clubs and took them off to the cells for a night (ignored me) Also a bouncer who had been trying to sort out the taxi. Same kind of thing had happened to a guy I met at the airport on the way out.
I checked out of Havana early and stayed in a Santiago hotel which meant being smuggled into grim by-the-hour rooms on the street.
Not all bad. The women are gorgeous and maybe I was unlucky, but if you're a newbie / don't talk spanish / or appreciate food. Then avoid.
So I finally booked my trip to Cuba for the last week of April. I know there is information for casa particular's here, but much of it is outdated. I need someone's opinion on casa particular's in Havana.
1. It should have about 4-5 rooms for my friends.
2. It should be close to action (ie. Clubs, restuarants, etc).
3. Girl friendly.
I'd be grateful for your help. I'll only be staying there a couple of days, but I will definitely post a review upon my return.

A casa is legally entitled to rent out 2 rooms. You many find other than that BUT it will not be in Vieja, centro or Vedado as the owner will be taking a risk. The best you will be able to do is get 3 casas close to each other.
