How was the Habana Libre? Everyone tells me it is a shithole, though there were alot of German and Italian tourists there (in the Habana Libre)Its my first time in Cuba, so I have nothing to compare it to.
Its not that bad. The main problem for me has been the air conditioning. The A / C did not work in the first room, so they moved me. I cannot adjust the A / C in this room and its freezing.
You can bring chicas to the hotel (they must register) as long as you pay for double occupancy, which was the only option when I booked on the internet (single occupancy would be 55 CUC less). You have to pay for 2 people all nights in advance, or else it is 80 CUC extra to bring a guest.
The Cubans I spoke with were surprised it was possible to bring chicas to a hotel, without at least a bribe to security.

This is Cuba. I needed some information on buses and was told over and over that there wasn't one. Twenty people later, there was one. Point being, that no becomes a yes with more money or another attendant. I guess unless you are obviously with a puta and everyone else sees you trying to get past the attentdant.
It was explained to me that after one registration they are blacklisted, and it does not clear for a year, but 3 times sounds more reasonable.

My clear advice: if you visit Havana for mongering, book a casa particular. First time visitors can book a hotel for the first night and look around afterwards for a decent casa. Especially recommended after a long distance flight. All casas are better value for money than any hotel in Havana. Period.
If you want to hang out at a swimming pool during daytime, show the towel man a 10 CUC bill when he asks for your room number. Internet? Go to any hotel and check your mails for 6 CUC per hour. Book a tour? No need to be a guest. Safe? Lock your valuables into your suitcase and that's it. What else do you need?
Why on earth stay in a hotel and pay 55 CUC just for your chica's accomodation? With registration and all that stuff? I prefer to stay in a decent casa in Vedado for 35 CUC per day and go to the Melia Cohiba during daytime. And to return home at night without any registration or stupid questions asked.

Close to that place the seaside boulevard is filled with all kinds op groups (friends or families) during the evening / nite drinking rum and making or listening streetmusic.
What me supprised was the possitive lookes to me from also the younger once (when my wife was a few meters from me) so indeed contact potentials but those contacts are indeed impossible to work out because everywhere those young cops are standing.
Complete other storrie is if you just walk a short street from the main drags in Vieja and Centre Havana. A lot of looks and a lot of pottential for the lonely western man. The streets and houses are there still not improved and what you see is (including the cothes of the girls) not so impressive but the looks those sensual havana chicks give a western man are heavenly. Sometimes you will see there even impropper dressed girls (way to short miniskirt or way too small tops). They don't have much money to buy the best cloths. So don't spread too much dollars there to keep watching fun for married men you single Matchos.
As a start I would mention the roads paralel to Obispo (a little more away from the sea, thats Havana Vieja) and Avenida Italia (centre Havana).
You could say that I have no experience, but you should me see if I had the change (like I had in SE Asia like 2 girls per nite together) and thats why my wife will never let me go allone.
Final remark. I realy don't understand why someone would lose money in Havana. When you jump in the taxi an helper with a mobile cals the price to you and to the taxidriver. At the bars pay after every order directly and you have no misunderstandings. And finally, on the streets be clear to ask the price BEFORE you walk with someone and nothing happens-also in the backstreets. I was made affraid by al I read but I can say you the next.
The Havana People are the most relaxed, lauching and most sensual people I saw on the world. There is however so much different between one and the other girl. The first lookes like a thick negro (big humps, nice with a clevage and humping minsiskirt like on the back (arse) of a duck) , the other verry skinny and tall with legs like from a giraffe (verry nice with a miniskirt) and the third like a hot Spanish girl, all sensual and with coller settings between black and white. Thats not what you will see in your life in Thailand.

Negative points? I realy don't understand why the hotels staffs are so rude.
How better the hotel how worse the staff. So I can Imagine to aim at Casa Particulira if you want to have pleasure at all. And Also a good niterest (while most 4-5 stars have discos at the top).
At Playa de Este I had no fun, the best hotel is only all included bookable by internet with the worst food we ever had (3 starr Atlantico beach) and guards like sovjets. A lot of families in front of the Tropicoco resort (just 2* and even more worst what I red in LP). Walking to Guanabo along the beach I saw a lot of Gay men having fun, so a hint for those happy readers.
In Guanabo LP advices Piza La Mar but after having 10 yo beercans and a small dirty piza on stone chears I would advise to stay away.
BTW. You can go to Tropicoco / Atlantico for just 3$ with the Luxury T3 aircon Havanatour bus opposite Hotel Inglaterra on Parque Central in Havanna between about 9am and 5 pm about every 1/2 hour. ANd if you don't like it there you can take the next bus back because you may travel whole day in that bus for just one ticket! (and hop out and in on all points inbetween like the fortificantions oppsosite havana) Happy hunting you lucky singles.

Tibu had a great advice on visiting Havana, I recently was there for 4 days and my itinerary includes staying in a casa Particular two blocks from Melia Cohiba fro 30 CUC p / and in Calle Primera between 10 and 12 just next to a little store where you can buy beer or water.
I go during the day to Melia Cohiba check the swimming pool or have a beer, try the many pizzerias and little eating places around Vedado for just 1 CUC you can have pan con Bistec and on the evening go to a nice Paladar, my suggestions are: Laurent, dos amigos, La torre o Casa vista just mention the name to a Taxi and they will take you, these said don't expect much from Cuban food, for me (my opinion) Cuban food is just TERRIBLE.
Taxi prices unless you go to Miramar is almost always 5 CUC, more than 8 CUC and they are trying to pull your leg.
Want to get some fun, avoid Salon Rojo in Capri too expensive and too many pros, Try La Cecilia, Casa de la Musica Miramar, Diablito Tun Tun also in Miramar. There is also El meson and Dos gardenias is not bad place and I got nice girls there, prices are going up they started with 100 CUC I ended up giving them 60 CUC plus some gift like a deodorant or something like that.
This is my fifth time to Havana and personally I think quality is going down, prices are going up and service is THE WORST! Also as Cubans can buy and go to more places there is also lines and waiting time everywhere!
I am seriously considering coming back there, honestly is becoming too much of a pain and the rewards are getting smaller, like I said before this is my personal opinion.

Why would you go on vacation if you were not willing to spend money if you go on vacation to go with a wad of cash in your pocKet. I'd stay at a casa for 30 dollars a night I'd pay 40 dollars for a girl tops that's for A 10. If you want to spend 50 dollars a day I wouldn't bother going, I would spend 200 dollars a day easily. That's not including room and board. The final word is that you shouldn't go on vacation if you're going to be cheap if you want to pinch pennies stay home, if you want to go on vacation should be able to spend money without thinking Of it. As has been said many times on this thread, if you are going to Cuba strictly for the mongering, you will be disappointed, especially if you speak no spanish.

Just got back from 2 weeks in Cuba. My advice is-stay away from Havana until the Pope leaves. The cops right now are cracking down on the girls like crazy-there trying to clean up the city for the visit from the Pope. La Cecillia was dead and the streets are deserted. Cops are hanging around the front entrance of all the clubs and the girls are spooked-only the hard core girls with the chulos are around. But like anywhere, if you already have contacts its no problem.

It's quite difficult to find unofficial casas. At least that was my experience. Another thing I noticed about Cienfuegos is that many chicas DO NOT want to be seen with tourists or even talk to them. The Tropicoco hotel is very outdated with plenty of police stationed on the beach during the day.
I suggest doing a day trip while staying in a casa particular in Havana. Its a 30 minute drive to the beach from Havana.
You may also want to consider getting a Hotel at the Hemingway Marina in Miramar. Its a very relaxed enviorment in one of the nicest cities in Cuba.
Cienfuegos is a beautiful place also but its about a 2-3 hour drive from Havana.

Since your interested in a beach thing ansd only being there for 4 days, I would recommend staying in Guanabo. It is just east of Playa Santa Maria. Staying in a casa particular would save your the "fee" needed for chica entry at Tropicoco. Plus chica rate is lower than in Havana. I never give more than 30 CUC.

Since your interested in a beach thing ansd only being there for 4 days, I would recommend staying in Guanabo. It is just east of Playa Santa Maria. Staying in a casa particular would save your the "fee" needed for chica entry at Tropicoco. Plus chica rate is lower than in Havana. The beach is across the street, there's a small mercado on the corner selling cigarettes, water, juices, bottles of alcohol, snacks and toiletries.
There are always chicas on the beach and in the local restaurants on the street ready to be picked up.
U can grease the hotel security $20 CUC and they'll bring your chica to your room, even in the daytime.
If you don't have a chica the security will get you one. There are usually a few in the lobby just inside the front door.
The security has a deal with most of the Police on nightshift, they pimp the chicas to the Yuma and split the cash. So you won't really have a problem.
This is not the case with all the chicas, just the ugly smart ones. LOL. Some of the girls they pimp are fuckable but I personally wouldn't touch 99% of them. I'm quite picky. But always up for an adventure, hence the 1% leeway. LOL.
There are 2 local clubs in the next town, Guanabo. Cabaret Guanimar is open Wed-Sun. And Guanabo Club is open on Mon. And Tues. Both are a $5 CUC taxi ride away, DO NOT PAY MORE!
Every chica in these 2 clubs are available for the taking. They might start off at $50 CUC, just shake your head and say "no", they will reduce their price. I was there last month and paid$20-$30 CUC, NEVER MORE than that. It helps if you speak some Spanish.
When in the clubs the chicas will ask you to buy them a drink, most of the time this is a hustle. Watch out for the girls that ask for RED BULL, this is about $4 CUC. Here's the hustle, U go to the bar, the chica is next to you, you order the drink, she smiles and says "gracias", U-turn your back and the chica sells the drink back to the bartender@50% and together they laugh at you and call you stupid. I've seen this many many times. Sometimes I like to fuck with them so I order them a Beer, never Red Bull, look them straight in the eyes, open the beer and give it to them. This catches them off guard completely. I then just smile and walk away.
Last time I was there I did the same thing, but these bitches were smart, when I walked away they gave the 2 Heineken to their pimps. In the words of Homer Simpson,"DOAH"! They got me. But after that experience it will never happen again.
The private Taxi guys are all a bunch of sleaze bag hustlers, but sometimes late at night you have no choice but to use them. Try to ALWAYS use the government taxis.
A taxi is $15 CUC from Tropicoco to Havana, DO NOT pay more.
Tropicoco has a FREE shuttle bus that takes you to Havana twice a day and brings you back.
There is an air-conditioned tourist bus that comes every half hour in front of Tropicoco that takes you into Havana. Cost $3 CUC.
When exchanging money at the front desk ALWAYS count your money because they ALWAYS short change you. The exchange rates are posted on the counter at the front desk, in the far right corner (if you're facing the desk).

I recommend you book in advance with your travel agent. Here's Tropicoco's tel just in case 011. 537. 797. 1371.
There's another less expensive hotel down the street from Tropicoco, it's called Las Terrazas. If your facing Tropicoco you would need to walk left, against the traffic, no more than 1km away. A 1 bedroom apartment there is only about $26 CUC and includes breakfast. There's a swimming pool, restaurant and bar on the premises. There is also a good restaurant across the street. Easy to pick up chicas here. U can also access the beach right across from the hotel. Lots of Cubans tend to stay here. Make sure they put you in the yellow and blue building, the red / burgandy buildings are in terrible shape. The $3 CUC tourist bus to Havana also stops in front of here.
Assessment:
Tropicoco is nicer (this is not saying much) , closer to the main area of the beach, is all-inclusive, has free shuttle bus into Havana, Taxis are almost always in the front day and night, there are always putas in front or on the side ready for action, but this place overall is more expensive. The rooms cost more and you have to bribe the security $20 CUC per chica even if you bring in 2 of them for a 3 some.
Las Terrazas is much more cheaper is also well located but does not have all-inclusive and is not as nice. However, a meal in the restaurant will only cost you between $3-$10 CUC. Also, when you rent the apartment you are allowed to have someone stay with you FREE of charge, this is good if your watching your budget. The only thing is that the chica / guest has to sign in at the front desk. This has never really presented a problem for me as many chicas welcome the opportunity to enjoy the comforts of a hotel. Only twice the chica I was with didn't want to sign in. So I greased the guard $10 CUC on one occasion, they don't charge as much as Tropicoco, and the other time there was no security around so we just walked up to my room. This is really a converted apartment building, you don't have to walk through a lobby to go to your room. U get to your room from an outside stairway. All the rooms have a living room, closed off bedroom, kitchen with fridge and stove, bathroom and they all have a balcony.
What my friends and I usually do is, we book an all-inclusive vacation package to Tropicoco due to convenience and then we rent an apartment at Las Terrazas as our "fuck den". Last time we rented a 3 bedroom apt for $39 CUC per day with breakfast included. This worked out to $13 CUC per person, crazy cheap and you have 24hr access to bring your chicas. We booked it for 5 days and partied hard. The great thing about this is when we were done and sent the chicas home we just walked back to Tropicoco, showered and slept. No need for a taxi. Very convenient.
So there you have it, the pros and cons of both places. Hope this helps you and and anyone else reading this.

If you will be by yourself, your suspicions are highly accurate even with all the police presence. They are there more for the control of the chicas.
If you choose to drink / eat ask for the prices at the offset. Mixed drinks are 2. 50 CUC. Can of pop 1 CUC. Beer depends on brand, domestic 1. 50 CUC. Food is highly priced. If you want a lounge chair 2. 00 CUC, an umbrella 2. 00 CUC. I would highly suggest that you keep a running tally of your drinks and compare with the bill. Just added this year is a 1CUC Beach service added to your bill if you have one of the workers bring your drinks / Food.

Adapter plugs I have.Equipment like laptops and telephone chargers are generally dual voltage, so should be OK. Just check the specification label on the charger. It normally says 100-240v AC.
More country specific items like hairdryers, kettles etc may not be, but should have the operating voltage marked on it somewhere.
Having an adapter will not be sufficient, that's just for plug compatibility. Unless its a voltage transformer (110-220 or 220-110) as well. Check carefully!
Cuba generally has both voltages 110 and 220 in the hotels and most casa's. The sockets themselves may not be obvious which voltage they are. Check with reception or the casa owner!

I will likely be making a monger vaca from June 29. July 4th and am waffling between Havana and Cartagena, I would love to hear some insight from seasoned experts. As a bit of background, I have been to Medellin 3 times and Cartagena 2 times already, and speak enough basic spanish that I have never needed a translator or had difficulty communicating in Colombia.
I am thinking about Cartagena or Havana because I love the working girl bar scene such as LDV and Electra, and it seems like La Cecilia and Salon Rojo would be similar types of scenes. That is my main criteria, having great clubs with a bunch of free lancing pros that are flirty, fun, and most importantly, smoking hot!
How would you rate the non-mongering activities in Havana vs Cartagena? I like to sight see, and hit the beach and relax during the daytime, maybe snorkel or jet ski, etc. Also, while on vacation I do sample "partying" a bit with the see readily in Colombia, is it possible to "party" at all in Cuba or is that a death wish?

The building I was at only had water turned on during dinner hours, so that totally sucked. It's too hot to walk far before like 4pm and walking around Havana is a good portion of the fun during the day time. Like I said, I would never go there in Summer again, it sucked.

ThanksI've never had a problem with the water-but I always stay in top end casas-by this I mean $60-70 per night. If you bargain hunt in the $30-$40 range you can expect some bullshit. Worse than no water is no air conditioning due to power "blackouts"-thunderstorms often cause blackouts in Havana and they have ruined many good days. I'm not sure what it is about Havana in July and August but it is F-ing hot. I don't even go out to the clubs because its too uncomfortable. Myself I try to minimize my travel during these month or go Medellin-Bogota where the weather is more comfortable. If it meets your budget, stay in a good hotel (Melia Habana) where theres a nice pool, and backup generators if theres a blackout.

On my last trip there I hooked up with 2 chicas from Santiago de Cuba on 2 separate occasions.

Your best bet is to go to Guanabo Club and / or Cabaret Guanimar, ALL the girls here are to be had for the right amount. Whatever you decide please DO NOT OVERPAY these bitches. Start at $20 CUC and DO NOT offer more than $30 CUC. Don't fuck it up for the next guy.

Easier to do in Cuba than a lot of other places. Generally the girls with better English at places like Salon Rojo, ect, are fucking a lot of tourists and probably more hardcore with their work routines so your odds are lower for getting a GFE with one. Even broken Spanish goes a long way.

I spend a lot of time in Cuba and theres not much english spoken. I probably know 10 people that can speak english and they all work in tourism (taxi-hotels-diving etc|). And I know 4 chicas that speak broken basic english but won't provide a girlfriend experience. They will bang you but they all have cuban boyfriends and will be a pain in the ass. If you don't have a particular look that you want and your not choosy, then you may get lucky in la cecillia or capri-but don't count on it. Your best bet is just to talk to people and ask if they know anyone-ask the taxi driver-casa owner-girls at the bar-the cook at your casa-just say you want to meet a nice girl who can speak english and you have a tip for them if they come through-make sure you have a cuban contact cell phone number so they can reach you. Sorry I can't help you on this one.

Nothing is impossible, but I thought it was close to that or some major bribe to get chicas into the place, atlantico is very nice compared to the tropicoco and it worth the extra 100 in comfort and food when camparing AI prices from toronto.

What is the procedure to get her through customs and on a plane?

I have read many of warning on the possible car rental problems in Cuba, but damn that does sure open a lot more possibilities. Will most likely be traveling with a friend here in Panama to share expenses, guess we will just hold off on that decision and cross that bridge when we get to it.

In Panama you will need to purchase a tourist visa at the airport when you check in or before boarding the plane, I have seen it done in both locations. This piece of paper is what immigration in Cuba will stamp when you enter Cuba, not your passport.
When you leave the country, after you check in, you need to pay an exit tax of $25CUC before you can go through security.
Cell phone, just take an unlocked GSM phone like you would use in Panama and you can buy a number in Cuba.

ThanksThey only way I know of getting a girl out of Cuba is by marriage. So if you're willing to falsely sign papers saying that you're engaged and will take care of her then you might as well marry her because what you sign isn't worth the paper it's written on. If this ever existed, it does not exist anymore. So what type of chica are you trying to protect? If she is a "jinitera", this alleged paper will do her no good. If this is your "girl", then do your thing. Register with her where-ever you go, casa, hotel. If she is a "good" girl, she will have no problem registering with you. I see during the week I was in Cuba there has been alot of talk of prices, IMHO I think if you stay / monger in the city itself the chicas equivelate that as these guys have the money to stay within the city limits and hangout at the known hardcore pro bars / discos.

You can still get a casa for the night at that hour, have a chica as well, ask your taxi guy. The house went for the usual 300 CUC / night, the car was about 150 CUC / day including full CDW insurance, and I pay my driver 50 CUC / day.
As has been the case on my previous trips, the highest quality of girls for my taste were found at Salon Rojo and La Cecilia. Most girls at these places start out asking for 100 CUC but all will easily go down to 70 CUC with minimal haggling. Anything below 70 CUC may be possible with SOME of the girls if you really feel the need to beat them down over another lousy 10 CUC (I never feel the need). Average age for the girls in these places is 19-22 and it seemed half the girls were white and from Camaguey. I would definitely say that at least 90% of the girls in Salon Rojo were white which suits my taste just fine. On some week nights in Salon Rojo there are probably 150 girls and as few as 10 or 15 guys; on the bigger weekend nights (especially if it's raining) Salon Rojo will have many more guys so you need to make your pick a little quicker. These clubs only attract professional prostitutes and I occasionally go because its a last resort for pussy.

It means you have a nice casa with a pool to hang out during the day with chicas. It means you can rent a car and not wait for taxis, or have to argue with every single taxi that tries to gouge you. You also get to go to La Fontana instead of Jazz cafe. It seems Mr. H fits this profile more than the first.
Does this mean a girl making 60cuc will fuck you better in the 300cuc per day villa than she would in a 35cuc apartment? I doubt it.

There was always a security person by the elevators so sure, officially, no girls in the rooms. However, the front doorman, once he got to have a few casual conversations with me, actually offered to get girls for me and that for a tip (forgot the amount but it was quite reasonable I think) , he would organize everything among his crew so that the girl would be brought up to my room without any problems.
I also stayed a few nights just down the street from this hotel at a casa particular apartment in a multifloor building. I casually asked the owner, a middle age woman, about the possibility of bringing a guest back. I normally would not ask but for some reason, I decided to take the chance of asking her without offending her. Without any hesitation on her part, she said that it wouldn't be any problem as long as it was done quietly.
So unofficially, there are no issues as long as you are talking to the right people. And there will be a LOT of the right people since they need the business. Casas need the business too because the owners now pay for licenses and if they do not get any clients, it really hurts financially for them.

You scared me for a moment, but your a young man and in any other region, you'd be ok, but in Cuba, make sure they are 18 because even though the age of consent for Cubans is 14 for a female, for tourists, the Cuban chica better be 18. The main reason I'm choosing Cuba is that I think its a lot safer for wandering around alone then if would be in dominican or Costa rica, as as for over paying for vag I remember some guy on lonely planet forums told me never to give the girl more money then her age LOL.
What I'm really looking for in this trip is to find some high school or college / university girls and try to get something without having to pay too much, since I'm young and I'm pretty cool and not a gargoyle I think this is feasible?

I've been well over 100 times and I still get scammed once in a while and I'm constantly on gaurd. Thats just how it is in Latin America. Further, even if you get lucky enough to meet a fairly normal girl that hasnt been jaded by the Havana lifestyle-once friends and family find out she's fucking a tourist-they will all be advising her on "how to get more out of you"-"how to act" bla bla bla. Its actually quite sad because it makes it difficult to develop a normal relationship-but thats how it is in Cuba and its not changing soon. Expect the "pity card" to be played immediately-no food, sick grandmother, no medicine etc etc. I've been to almost every mongering country and Cuba by far is the most difficult country to find a quasi normal encounter.
Also the problem with going after so called normal college girls is that theres a strong stereotype in Cuba that if a Cuban girls with a tourist she's a working girl. And many won't cross this path even if they like you and don't need the dinero. This makes it difficult to obtain what your looking for, but of course not impossible. La cecillia johnys capri are all full of working girls-Go to Don Cangrieo (night club) on the weekends-lots of hot normal girls. But please remember not all Cubans are poor and many of the girls in this place come from good wealthy families and choose to live in Cuba. They are now charged with "exhibiting morals that is a danger to the society." Non-turists sex with an 16 or 50 years old. What the so called here "minor sex" law is about it's is a section in Cuban code punishable by up to 25 years (yes it is, and I believe minimum is 10 years) It is called "corruption of morals of a minor". Minor is, under 18. So, now lets go to a question what means to corrupt a minor? Whether you give $, lipstick, purchase a bier or cola or promise or even don't promise but a girl has expectations that you will marry her, and so on. There are some Cuban girls that because of their "world view", or the stigma of being with a tourist or because they just do not need the money (yes there are some Cubans with money) , that just will not have a relationship with a tourist. Some of these girls do end up at these clubs with their friends and are just their for their own entertainment. But, assume that most of the women in these clubs that you speak of are available.
When I say "they are the non-average Cuban girls", that quote is a play on another post wherein I suggest that the average Cuban does not make more than from between $15 - $25 CUC per month. The girls at the clubs -in my opinion- are jaded in comparison to the average Cuban girl (however, certainly less jaded than any pro you might find in any other part of the world). I am of the opinion, that in Cuba, you do not have to be with a pro. There are plenty of beautiful women outside the City of Havana that are not professional hustlers that will treat you very well and that will not even ask you for a dime. It will be your decision to offer a small gift to these girls. And you should.

I just got back from Havana, I stayed at hotel Club Acuario. The entire group was advised no guests were allowed in the hotel upon arrival. Next night, asked again, and was told $52 / day for guest. Then, I met someone who worked at the hotel, advised me $35 / day for a guest if I go through them.
I did register one girl, but I recommend not to. The Havana girls are spoiled, they will not like the food at the hotel and push you to eat outside the hotel. I also encountered the same problem with another monger, whose girl did not eat at the hotel.
Last time I was in Havana, it was 6 months ago and boy o boy, it has changed. Havana is expensive and people there are richer. Girls will not settle for lower than $50-$60. Club girls, $70 to $100. If you get lucky, a street girl may settle for $40. Almost all girls in Havana have cell phones, take taxis, and enjoy the good life, to them $20, $30, does not hold any value.
Havana girls also have attitude. They want to see if you are big spender. In the clubs, you better offer them red bulls or expensive drinks or else they just walk away. If you offer them a gift and it is not well know brand name to them, they don't even want it.

I just got back from Havana, I stayed at hotel Club Acuario. The entire group was advised no guests were allowed in the hotel upon arrival. Next night, asked again, and was told $52 / day for guest. Then, I met someone who worked at the hotel, advised me $35 / day for a guest if I go through them.
I did register one girl, but I recommend not to. The Havana girls are spoiled, they will not like the food at the hotel and push you to eat outside the hotel. I also encountered the same problem with another monger, whose girl did not eat at the hotel.
Last time I was in Havana, it was 6 months ago and boy o boy, it has changed. Havana is expensive and people there are richer. Girls will not settle for lower than $50-$60. Club girls, $70 to $100. I totally disagree with past posts. I have recently been with a couple chicas for the nite for 30$, same ones repeatedly with girlfriend experiences. The girls coming into the scene the past 8 years or so would barely have any memories of the "special period" Cuba was going through in the early to mid 90s so this generation is not as desperate or impoverished as previous ones were. They're also a little better informed and see stuff from relatives in Florida more often, so they know what's just a cheap Wallmart trinket and what's of real value. So those old tricks of gifting the girls cheap crap may not be so reliable anymore.
Nevertheless, club girls going for $100 is nothing new. My first trip to Cuba was in 2003 and that was the top price for the club girls in Havana back then. So I would say that p4p prices have actually stayed pretty stable in Cuba compared to other popular latin-american p4p destinations (Rio especially has blown up in prices but also Sao Paulo and the Colombian cities).
Gold, not sure why you stayed in a hotel; it's well known for over a decade now best strategy even for non-mongers is to stay at a casa particular. This hotel / apartment building (painted yellow and blue) has a money exchange / cadeca on the ground floor with it's own entrance and offers the best exchange rates in the area. I prefer to not let the chicas know where I'm staying because they sometimes get overly ambitious and start calling your room at all hours of the day, morning and night. I don't like this and that's why I book Las Terrazas to do all my dirty deeds.
So to answer your questions:
1. I book and register myself at Las Terrazas when I get Havana, usually on the second day because I normally arrive at night.
2. When I find a chica I like I bring her to the apartment, if I don't see security I just go straight to my room with the girl. Sometimes even if security is there I just walk her in like it's nothing, very casually. The only times I check the girl in Las Terrazas is if security asks to see her bracelet or if I plan on staying with the same chica for a few days, that's when I take her to the front desk.
3. Not sure what the policy is with Sunwing. You're going to have to check with them.

If you are in a group then you can split the costs.
If you don't speak reasonable spanish and are not generally very comfortable with their (chika) attitudes, lifestyle, etc. For you probably is much better to have a casa "within" the owners house. It is much more secure for you that the chika not going to steal from you etc. I feel very comfortable in Cuban enviroment, I speak reasonable spanish, sing with them revolution songs, know names or prisons (female) without crossing the line of offending, joke that if something going to be missing in my case next few years she will spend in "bandera roja" (most hookers in Havana go there) etc. Never I chika has stolen from me anything (and I go to shower leaving my pants with $ in room, but I know how much is there) or tried to steal. Probably because of my approach to them (and I am treating them nice, not abusing or underminding) but always following a golde rule. Me and the case owner has a 'secret place" where we put the chikas carnet (eitehr they write the name down or not). Even in an "independent" multi-bedroom house that you rent in it's entirety there will still ALWAYS be a "custodio" on guard through the night who will verify the chica's age via her carnet and in most cases will hold on to the carnet until the chica is ready to leave, and very often will not return the carnet to the chica until you give the all clear that everything is in order. I have a trip to Havana set for December 18th, and set up my casa through livingcuba. Com. All of their casa particulares are legal, and they seems to have a great reputation online with reviews on trip advisor etc. They seem to be extremely helpful, and are very responsive to all my emails.
I know the true test is if the casa is available when I arrive, but so far they have been helpful in getting me organized and getting a guide for sightseeing. They are also assisting me in getting a Cuba SIM for much cheaper than I've seen people post here. I'll provide a full report after my trip.

One week packages leaving from Toronto for under $700, not bad at all for this time of year. Just have to finish a few things and figure out what days I will be there. Anyone else down there or planning to be there during this time?

U can take a chance if you like but when I was there last month all the hotels on that street were sold out. I recommend you book in advance with your travel agent. Here's Tropicoco's tel just in case 011. 537. 797. 1371.
There's another less expensive hotel down the street from Tropicoco, it's called Las Terrazas. If your facing Tropicoco you would need to walk left, against the traffic, no more than 1km away. A 1 bedroom apartment there is only about $26 CUC and includes breakfast. There's a swimming pool, restaurant and bar on the premises. There is also a good restaurant across the street. Easy to pick up chicas here. U can also access the beach right across from the hotel. Lots of Cubans tend to stay here. Make sure they put you in the yellow and blue building, the red / burgandy buildings are in terrible shape. The $3 CUC tourist bus to Havana also stops in front of here.
Assessment:
Tropicoco is nicer (this is not saying much) , closer to the main area of the beach, is all-inclusive, has free shuttle bus into Havana, Taxis are almost always in the front day and night, there are always putas in front or on the side ready for action, but this place overall is more expensive. The rooms cost more and you have to bribe the security $20 CUC per chica even if you bring in 2 of them for a 3 some.
Las Terrazas is much more cheaper is also well located but does not have all-inclusive and is not as nice. However, a meal in the restaurant will only cost you between $3-$10 CUC. Also, when you rent the apartment you are allowed to have someone stay with you FREE of charge, this is good if your watching your budget. The only thing is that the chica / guest has to sign in at the front desk. This has never really presented a problem for me as many chicas welcome the opportunity to enjoy the comforts of a hotel. Only twice the chica I was with didn't want to sign in. So I greased the guard $10 CUC on one occasion, they don't charge as much as Tropicoco, and the other time there was no security around so we just walked up to my room. This is really a converted apartment building, you don't have to walk through a lobby to go to your room. U get to your room from an outside stairway. All the rooms have a living room, closed off bedroom, kitchen with fridge and stove, bathroom and they all have a balcony.
What my friends and I usually do is, we book an all-inclusive vacation package to Tropicoco due to convenience and then we rent an apartment at Las Terrazas as our "fuck den". Last time we rented a 3 bedroom apt for $39 CUC per day with breakfast included. This worked out to $13 CUC per person, crazy cheap and you have 24hr access to bring your chicas. We booked it for 5 days and partied hard. The great thing about this is when we were done and sent the chicas home we just walked back to Tropicoco, showered and slept. No need for a taxi. Very convenient.
So there you have it, the pros and cons of both places. Ok let me elaborate. I have been to Cuba maybe 15 times now; lost count. Selling pu$$y is illegal but police do allow it to a certain extent. I think you are all correct, but the one thing Cuba has.and I am not even speaking of the passion a Cuban women brings to the bed- is this, . Cuba is still innocent due to its isolation. The Cuba you will see today is not the Cuba some of you saw in the early 90s, nor is it the Cuba you will see after the USA / Cuba blockade comes to an end. If and when this happens, I think I'll never return to Cuba. But for now, . Even with all the bullshit, . It is a great time, so long as you stay away from the pros.
Look dude, from my perspective it's easier in Cuba. U don't have to worry about gangs, Triads, aggressive pimps, the local mobsters or getting murdered or poisoned like you do in Thailand. Not to mention the Thai Police can fuck with you anytime they want with trumped up charges and extort money. They run scams with local merchants especially the Sea Doo and Scooter rentals.
In Cuba the Police DO NOT bother you at all unless it's drug related and then your fucked! Which is the same in most countries anyway, so no difference.
Yes prostitution is illegal there, just like it is in many countries. But the Police NEVER hassle the tourists, they always go after the girls. And if you really like the girl just slip the cop a $10 or $20 and the hassle will be over and you will walk away with your girl.

It is possible to have a cuban "girlfriend", but you WILL have to take her out, party, restaurants. And you will end up buying her something, maybe some perfume, slippers, a dress,"medicine for her sick mother", something. Not to mention you will most probably give her money for "taxi" to go home because she's "too scared to check into your hotel". She will then keep that $10 taxi money and take the bus for about 5 cents.
So as you can see, FREE PUSSY DOES NOT EXIST. But you will have a blast in Cuba! LOL.
