I arrive Saturday. Plan to hit Don Cangrejo, La Gruta and La Red (now that St John's is closed), Fantaxxy, Fabrica Del Arte, La Esencia, and Up and Down.

I plan to do some trolling on La Rampa, Malicon, and in Vieja.

I will also check to see if Mango in Miramar to see if it's still closed.

As I have said in previous posts, the Cuban authorities consider a girlfriend or mistress one thing (legal) and a prostitute another illegal thing. Cubans are so wretchedly poor. A non-pro chica can be had for about the same price as a puta. The non-pros want plausible deniability to being considered prostitutes. This means getting them clothes, a load of groceries for their family, low end cell phones, etc should be substituted for cash. Tell the chica that you are on a "vacation budget" to signal what you're willing to spend. It works great for me.

The cat and mouse game with jineteras has come to embody the "dollar mentality" that the Cuban government perceives as a threat. Their ethic of consumption, entrepreneurship, and autonomy is perceived as capitalism. The Cuban government doesn't want capitalism, but it needs our money and tourism dollars. When Fidel experimented many years ago and did not bother the jineteras, tourism from Europe and Canada skyrocketed; isn't this ironic. They want the jineteras to create revenue for the revolution but not for themselves. For the revolution, "sacrifice" is a key buzzword. This is the problem here and why the pressure is on the girls. They won't harass you if you prove she is your girlfriend though.

I don't want to get philosophical by any means but so long as Cuba remains a hardline communist country, working girls will always be harassed, controlled, and some will be made examples of, its just a reality. With that being said, I do not think they are enforcing the laws as much, but certainly they are "trying to slowly tighten the noose "on the chicas in Havana. You are very bold because I don't find the cops approachable. They are always focused and business like. Even a Hello, is rarely returned. Everyone should understand that its a difference between being registered and checked in. I always tell the casa owner my girlfriend is visiting and doesn't want to sign the book and be labeled. The casa owner response is usually they want to put her info in the book but not require her to sign. It's a thrill for a short time, but ceases to be fun after awhile. I had some really nice people in Cuba sit me down and convinced me that having a top quality chica diligently focus on making me happy is so much better than being a shit disturber. After arriving at the airport and checking in my Casa I took a walk around Vedado to change money, get a bite to eat, and get water, rum and other essentials. Not much going on a Saturday at 3-4 PM. Lots of families around. A couple of Chicas sitting outside Sofia's gave me catcalls. But they looked a bit hard core for me. And I was very tired from the trip.

Went home to pay my Casa owner and sleep for a couple of hours. Set my alarm for 8 and it interrupted me right in the middle of some heavy REM sleep. It is big, but not that big, you don't need to hit one spot, walk it! Here are a few things I learned as well as a few things I am still a bit confused about:

1) La Rampa #1: I found cruising La Rampa to be the best option for finding girls. All the girls I have taken from there have been GFE and repeat worthy. This is a big surprise for me as I am usually a club guy. For example, when I am in Pattaya I generally prefer I-Bar and the other Discos over the Gogos and I can't remember the last time I took a girl from Beach Road. La Rampa girls may be kind of reluctant to talk and get comfortable when you first meet them on the street. But I think this is largely because they are stressed about getting in trouble with the cops, who are always close by. This kind of put me off to the whole scene at first. That said, it was always hard to find an attractive girl right off the bat. You kind of half to wander up and down for hours until you run into the tight girl. Drinks aren't all that pricey and I don't mind buying them. But I hate getting gouged by the taxi guys. The clubs are spread out and taxis are the only option. The nights I hit up 2 or 3 clubs I ended up paying almost 30 bucks in taxi fare. If you do pick up a girl at a club she may insist you guys use her taxi guy to get her back to your casa and you will get gouged even more. I had to pay the taxi guy 20 CUC to get a girl back from Mio why Tuyo. The ride there only cost me 7.

The clubs have changed for the worse from my last trip. El Rio at St John Hotel is permanently closed (the nice doorman told me they converted the space into conference facilities). Don Cangrejo hardly has any FLs anymore now it's more of a party place thought I think if you put in the work you can still get girls there. Fantaxy is way too packed and I didn't see any attractive girls there anyway. Plus its far to get to and the taxi drivers really try to gouge you on the way back. As far as approaching La Rampa girls I try to make eye contact then say "Hola!. " If she answers back she is approachable and very likely available. Introduce yourself, ask her name, compliment her on her beauty, then ask if she wants to come to you Casa "Quieres venir a mi casa conmigo? Some will ask right away "How much?" others not. If she is not into it don'e be an asshole and move on. There are plenty of girls.

Fortunately I found a very nice little place close to my Casa. Otra Casa. Good food, quick service and cheap. Location is a bit out of the way. At he very end of Call L by the Malecon (close to the US Embassy) . But its a nice outdoor terrace, bright and sunny with a cool breeze, and I saw some cute girls there on occasion too.

Food is nothing fancy. Breakfast, Cuban platos, sandwiches, and Pizza. Most dishes 3-5 CUC. Also very good coffee and smoothies.

Most everything I had was good. I didn't like the Pizza, but its very popular (it hast that weird mealy crust common to Cuban pizza). I'd especially recommend the fried chicken plato.

I have been to Havana several times in recent years and each time I hit the usual spots: johnnys, casa de la musica, la maison, Q'bola, Bola Habana, Up and down, fantaxy etc. It has been hit or miss. Monday through Wednesday is fairly dead everywhere.

Doorman at St John told me the Disco had a lot of trouble with the cops and even had to ban chicas for awhile because so many punters posted their exploits there on the internet. Here are a few things I learned as well as a few things I am still a bit confused about:

1) La Rampa #1: I found cruising La Rampa to be the best option for finding girls. All the girls I have taken from there have been GFE and repeat worthy. This is a big surprise for me as I am usually a club guy. For example, when I am in Pattaya I generally prefer I-Bar and the other Discos over the Gogos and I can't remember the last time I took a girl from Beach Road. La Rampa girls may be kind of reluctant to talk and get comfortable when you first meet them on the street. But I think this is largely because they are stressed about getting in trouble with the cops, who are always close by. This kind of put me off to the whole scene at first. But I've found that they warm up very quickly when you get them back to the Casa. I have never had a bad experience with a girl I met on La Rampa. I can't say the same about girls I met on the clubs.

That said, it was always hard to find an attractive girl right off the bat. You kind of half to wander up and down for hours until you run into the tight girl. It takes some patience and you often have to make an evening of it before you get lucky. Be ready to act quickly if you do and snap her up. She won't be around the next time you pass by! I had at least three interesting candidates slip through my fingers this way."Snap her up" sounds like really good advice for Havana. Judging by your posts, you like to shop around. You have incredible energy and persistence in looking for chicas. It's too bad the club scene has become problematic. Years ago, there was drinking, dancing and some sweethearts mixed in with the hardcore pros. Even if a chick was a bit pro at the casa, Cuban girls couldn't resist a good fuck. That would win some of them over to more of a GFE experience.

As a general rule, the "snap her up" is usually good advice anywhere in the world. If a girl's look and vibe hit the mark, I find it's usually not going to get better to keep searching that night. I've learned from experience to follow this rule. I've passed on some very beautiful girls who were totally digging my company because it was too early, too easy. And when I found a hotty who was great in the sack, it was a good idea to hook-up with her a couple times. Somehow great sex got even better.

One question. When I was in Havana several years ago, the girls would want to go home before the sun came up. I think they feared being seen coming out of the casa with a gringo. Is that still kind of normal?

We had been walking around the city and I recommended to them that we go to the Malecon and La Rampa, but they wouldn't listen to me and thought they knew everything. A local we talked to said we should come to a bar he knows about, and brought us to Casa Club. There were some fairly hot girls there who were aggressive, which is okay by me. But the guy who brought us asked what kind of drinks we wanted as we sat at some tables and he also got drinks for the girls sitting there. We never were asked if we wanted to buy drinks for the girls or not. We asked about the drink prices, asked about if we must pay for drinks as they come or start a tab. The con artists working there never would give a straight answer to these questions and they acted as if we should just have a good time and not worry about all that. I started to become concerned and I told my friends we should demand to see the bar bill. I told the friends about a similar experience I had in Egypt once that turned out very bad. We got the casa club bill. They charged us for the girls' drinks as well as ours and each mojito was equal to around 5 US dollars. So the bill was very quickly 30 US. Maybe we could have refused to cover chica beverages since we were never asked about them, but we didn't know how that might go down. One friend did later go off into the night with a working girl there, and he said he was able to talk her price down to 30 CUC including house fee. I saw her and she was pretty cute. So yes there are girls there but the people running the bar are out to scam you.

I think the accident is still under investigation, NTSB offered to help with and Cuba accepted.

1) A sim card was given to me by the Cubans at the airport, they were handing them out like candy, OR.

Reading some of the posts below and just wanted to let you know how this works.

If you are Cubano / a living abroad you can get a line (meaning a tele number) no big deal there.

If you are not a national then getting a Sim card your best bet is to rent one out, usually a couple of CUC a day + you need to purchase air time from Etecsa, since whoever rents you the Sim card will want the same amount of air time as when they rented it out for you to begin with. In other words it's $2 daily rent + air time which you have to purchase.

If you go often enough (in my case) I opted to have my own linea (tele #) It cost me $40 for the linea (comes with $10 air time included) which makes its actual cost $30 CUC. One caveat, if you have a linea in Cuba you have to activate it at least once a year, meaning you need to recharge such linea otherwise you lose your tele #.

After my last trip this past March I went to the Etecsa office and transfered such linea to my name, (someone I know had bought the linea for me) no questions asked, I handed the boss lady there a $5 CUC for her troubles so she can buy herself a merienda (snack), LOL.

As far as phones go, I have a Moto G4 which is unlocked and when I land in Cuba I switch Sim cards (Verizon is my service provider) and like someone said DO NOT use your service in Cuba since it'll cost you plenty.

Heads up, you can call the States using your Cuba Sim card by dialing 119 along with 1 + the area code and the number. I've done that several times and it's not that expensive. It's prolly the same for any other country in the world since each country has its own area code. Cuba's area code is 53, so if I were to call Cuba from the states I'd need to first put 53 and then the rest of the numbers.
If you want to get online then you need to purchase the cards to do that. They cost a couple of CUC for an hour's worth of on air time.

Here are the instructions for dialing the States from Cuba;.

Dial 119 (the international line access code), then 1 (the USA Country code).

Enter the ten-digit area code and phone number you wish to call, followed by the hash key.

Happy hobbying out there.This story reminds me of one of the worst and dangerous scams I was ever played on, although this is a bit embarrassing to admit but know this was 20 years ago and I was a newbie, now 20 years of experience I learned.

So this was 1998 in the Czech Republic, in central Prague at a bar / disco with 2 hot czech women I met on the street early morning, after about 2 hours of maybe 4 rounds of drinks max I was presented with the bill of about $460. They had 2 different menu prices and I was presented with the second one when it came time to pay the bar, I had a choice to pay or my legs would be broken, no shit, I was escorted to an ATM by armed body guards. I paid and was released to go.

Live and learn and that I did that night.

No, you first need to have a local purchase the linea for you. In other words, they have to go to Etecsa and buy such line with their Cuban ID. That's how I did this. Once this was done on my next trip down I went to the Etecsa office with and told the lady in charge that I wanted to transfer la linea to my name since my friend had left the country. She did some paperwork and transfered la linea to my name, albeit with the propina. LOL.

So, now all I need is to make sure I recharge such linea once a year.

I don't think you can put a sim card in a iPhone, at least I'm not aware of it. Your iPhone will work in Cuba, just get ready to get screwed real good when you phone bill comes in the mail.

The best option is to buy a cheap unlocked droid phone from Best Buy or Amazon, I've been using unlocked J3 Samsung's. They work well with the Cuban sim cards.

AT&T is my service provider and my iPhone does work in Cuba, but it is very expensive!! Like I mentioned before, I came home to a $3000.00 (yes, THREE THOUSAND) after my first trip to Havana a couple years ago. My solution was to buy a cheap unlocked Samsung Galaxy and and find a sim card once I get to Cuba, works fine.

Dial 119 (the international line access code), then 1 (the USA Country code).

Just a heads up report on a bar with a light up sign on the front that says: Casa Club 24 h. The last a of casa is turned upside down. The bar is at 258 Neptuno. I went there with co-worker buddies. We had been walking around the city and I recommended to them that we go to the Malecon and La Rampa, but they wouldn't listen to me and thought they knew everything. A local we talked to said we should come to a bar he knows about, and brought us to Casa Club. There were some fairly hot girls there who were aggressive, which is okay by me. But the guy who brought us asked what kind of drinks we wanted as we sat at some tables and he also got drinks for the girls sitting there. We never were asked if we wanted to buy drinks for the girls or not. We asked about the drink prices, asked about if we must pay for drinks as they come or start a tab. The con artists working there never would give a straight answer to these questions and they acted as if we should just have a good time and not worry about all that. I started to become concerned and I told my friends we should demand to see the bar bill. I told the friends about a similar experience I had in Egypt once that turned out very bad. We got the casa club bill. They charged us for the girls' drinks as well as ours and each mojito was equal to around 5 US dollars. So the bill was very quickly 30 US. Maybe we could have refused to cover chica beverages since we were never asked about them, but we didn't know how that might go down. One friend did later go off into the night with a working girl there, and he said he was able to talk her price down to 30 CUC including house fee. I saw her and she was pretty cute. So yes there are girls there but the people running the bar are out to scam you.

So, finally on to posting another report.

Interesting post about the bar on Neptuno. It is always good to get a heads-up about places like that. There's another bar on Neptuno, close to 'Casa de la Musica' Galiano, that used to be called 'Jaguar' but now is called Torro (has sign with bull horns). Daniela Bolanos Mata the scammer jinetera from my previous post, used to hang-out in this bar last year with her pimp boyfriend Yuniel Echevarria Dias (who everyone calls Ham). They are known to work together to swindle and defraud unsuspecting tourists. He calls her his 'malandra' (crook or thug). Having said all that, if you can keep the pimp boyfriend Ham at bay, Daniela is one hell of a bang. She is in the first photo wearing a white top.

The regular visitors to Havana will know of Johnny's aka Rio club. That is where I met Rachel (in the second photo). This was a couple years back. On my more recent trips, it was actually closed. But anyhow, I was at Johnny's and after contemplating talking to a cute petite white girl in a white dress, I changed my mind and decided to chat up Rachel. She seemed hot and had her ample bosom displayed prominently from her bustier outfit. I was hooked. I don't know what is going on sometimes because I was trying for a long time to make eye contact with Rachel or her friend but no dice. I remember the days when the chicas in Johnny's would grab at your arm as you walked in and you would have several vying for your attention. This time I had to make more of an effort. The cheesy show at the club finally wrapped up around 2 am and I had my chance to talk to her. We get to the casa and she asks me for a razor. WTF? Turns out she hasn't trimmed her Bush in a long time and needs to do some landscaping. She is obviously not a pro. I wait patiently and finally she comes out. On to the bedroom. He did her negotiating and as I recall wanted way too much. I stuck to my price and finally as it was getting near closing time he relented. As I walk in the early morning hours to my nearby casa with Vaneza, I catch a glimpse of the stalker pimp following us at a distance. We get to the casa and Vaneza and I start to get friendly. There isn't much in the way of foreplay but I must say she was absolutely divine. Body, face, sexiness all perfect 10's. After the session she freshens up fairly quickly and as I go to open the door for her to leave guess who is standing there right behind the door like a stalker. Yes the pimp boyfriend. I keep my cool and humor the annoying guy, I figure it's not worth getting upset. I even invite him in and offer him a glass of water. He again acted angry and neurotic. Anyhow, several days later I decide I must have Vaneza again, this time for an afternoon romp. I call her and set time for her to come to visit me. I keep watch from the balcony as she is arriving I see her approaching alone. Good sign. After I let her in, I decide to lock the gate at the elevator on my floor, so anyone who wants to get out of the elevator on my floor will have to have a key. We sit for a moment, I figure I want to chat for a couple minutes, offer her a drink and then some fun can begin. She wanted none of that she wanted to go to the bedroom immediately and get the session over with. At this point I told her I am not like that, I like to relax, talk for a few minutes, have a cold drink and some foreplay before getting the session started. She again persisted to rush me. That's when I told her if she's in such a rush to go she can leave now. She said fine. I open the door for her to leave. If you pack rum in your carry on luggage, they will find it and take it. I know this first hand. I was able to get some some thru in my checked bag. But they could also find it there. My next trip, I decided to buy the rum at the airport upon my departure. They seal it in a clear bag and you will have no problems getting it on the plane.

Mondo.Rum is a bit cheaper at the airport duty free shop. I think a liter bottle of Havana Club or Legendario Anejo is 5 CUC there as opposed to 6-7 at shops around town.

However, last time the Rum selection at the shop was very bad. They mostly had Havana Club and only Legendario (my fave) in blanco. The Anejo is my favorite rum.

You won't be able to get the bottle you buy in the shop through security check (liquids rules). Last time I just poured the rum I had left over at the casa into a plastic bottle and packed it in my check in luggage.

We have never had any issues, we even bring or own bottles of rum in there, and they keep it behind the bar for us to drink from. Of course we share with the bartenders and the door guy. There are some females in there, but mainly not until late at night, after the other bars and clubs close.

I spoke with my friend that works there, and he did say, he is NOT surprised at all about this little scam. He says the owner encourages this crap, and it will be their downfall. Be safe out there guys, but don't sleep on the talent that does come through this spot.

If you know people that you've met on your previous trips they will do it for you. Just throw an extra 10 CUC for whoever does this for you, that's what I did. Also, any chica you've been with and are in good standing with her will do it but you also run the risk of getting more involved with her. If that's ok then no problema, if it's not then don't go this route.

Remember, once you get the linea, you need to recharge it (put money on the balance) at least once a year otherwise the linea won't work after one year.

Mondo.No that's not correct. When you get a line it is good for 330 days from the activation date or from when you did the last top up. I believe after 330 days it is suspended and you then have 30 days to top it up or lose it. The line is always good for 330 days after the last top up. It does not expire at the end of the year.

If the line is in a so called friend's name they own it and can cancel it at any time or say they lost the Sim card and get a new one along with whatever balance you had left on it. Don't know if this is your 1st visit or you've been down before.

I like to stay in the Vedado section of the city and close to La Rampa, specially if you have no wheels. Then again that's my choice, I find I can walk to many of the places.

If you are looking for something on the high end of the price scale I know of one which is in the hood that I mentioned above and has 2 bedrooms and it's also a penthouse. In case you're interested PM me for the info.

This is one of the nicest casa's in Havana, it's in Morro Havana, just down from Che Guevara old Casa. It's about 500ft from the Morro Castle fantastic place. A friend and I stayed here for a week, $300 USD per night.

I just returned from Havana last month and I have to say the pickings were slim on the streets. I didn't do any clubs, so I cannot comment on them. But the overall scene at La Rampa and Malecon was very weak. The hardest time I've ever had locating action ever. I put in a lot of walking miles on my Fitbit, LOL. The chicas were present, but very few and the ones present were either not desirable, asking for too much or would be gone before you knew it. The police presence has obviously had a major impact on the FL scene on the streets.

Other than maybe hitting the clubs for better luck, I would advise to either invest in a cheap unlocked cellphone or make sure the apartment you are renting has an available phone to use. I say this, because the way the chicas disappear from the streets, your best bet is to collect numbers as you go about your business and call them to come through as needed. Other than that, the prices were pretty much the same $30-40 cuc's, of course some will ask for more. Most will go down, but some won't budge. Also make sure you negotiate payment only after the session, a lot of the chicas want it upfront, more so than anywhere I've ever traveled to. I managed to barely get one a day and they were cooler than usual, but far from great. Nothing outstanding to write about.

Havana is a cool place to visit at least once (more so for sightseeing), but a very challenging place to monger. Interesting post about the bar on Neptuno. It is always good to get a heads-up about places like that. There's another bar on Neptuno, close to 'Casa de la Musica' Galiano, that used to be called 'Jaguar' but now is called Torro (has sign with bull horns). I'm not going to re post Mr Gogo's entire write-up, but he pretty much nails it on every point. Cuba is not a point-and-click mongering destination like so many other places discussed on ISG. It was like that before 2000, but after a couple dozen "crackdowns," those days are long gone.

Me, Mondo and several others have been giving updates on Cuba over the last year but people still go there expecting this mongers paradise. They just have changed leadership and are going through a transitional process that will take some time for the people to develop a new comfort zone and get back to normal. Cuba has never been easy unless you were there before 2000. With this said I still think Cuba is one of the hidden gems in the world. I think the girls are hot looking and even hotter in bed. The best sex of my life has been in Cuba. Its completely safe for visitors and still in its original state. The people are strong and determined considering what they are dealing with on a daily basis.

It seems like the scene I am interested in is still alive: approaching fresh young college student age girls on the street in La Rampa and other areas and seeing if they are interested in coming back to my Casa for some fun at about 50 CUC.

Exactly 3 years ago this month of August I spent 10 days in Havana, hot and humid as hell, my best advice is that I meet up with a very experienced guy right here on these forums and we struck a friendship and traveled together and hung out the whole time. My point is that if not for his experience and connections in Havana and his level of spanish skills my great trip could have been a bummer at best.

Yes you have been very lucky in the Dominican Republic. I live in the DR 6 months out of the year and the other half in Florida and Cuba. IMO I don't even think that the Dominicanas are number 1 in their own country, the Haitians in the DR are way better. The Haitians are more trustworthy, sweet and serve the sex up better than the local girls IMO. My main girl is Dominican and my two side girls are Haitian and Dominican / Haitian and my main girl takes me through ten times more bullshit than my two side girls.

I was browsing thru different places in La Habana and came across a Facebook page for Pico Blanco at the St. John's hotel.

By browsing thru the postings I noticed the there is a gap from 2/14/18 to June of 2018, no postings in this period. Then after June, new postings appear relating to the hotel and some seemed like inside the club itself.

I should mention, like someone did before, I too on my last trip at the end of February beginning of March, stopped by the joint and talked to one employee in the lobby (doorman?) and he informed me the place was bough by Italians investors and didn't have a plan to reopen the club upstairs.

Fast forward to now and it seems like the club is open again!

Anyway, thought I post about this and hope someone will confirm soon either way.

What are the best spots these days!I have nowhere near the experience that you do but after 3 trips my impression is that the best option is to try to chat up girls in the street and public spaces. Be polite and try to strike up a conversation. Invite her back to your place for a drink. And don't be a dick and press the issue if she is not game. Unlike the US women won't get offended if an interested guy approaches them, as long as he is nice, not rude or lewd, and doesn't' backs off once they signal they aren't interested.

Remember because of the LE situation girls are shy and scared to approach even if they are interested in a bit of p4 p. So it is up to you to make first contact.

In Centro and other areas be on the lookout for the parks and other places that have wifi. This kind of gives you an "excuse" to be there and hang around. I almost always get inviting looks and catcalls from girls even when I am there just to check my email.

Even if your Español is somewhat lacking your initial "hola" goes a long way to get you to 1st base (again as mentioned if she's interested).

From here you can always go with your phone translation app which I'm sure this will arouse her curiosity, then it's up to you once you get on base, LOL.

Remember, as was mention previously to check out the joint on Neptuno & Galiano, I think it's called Delirio Habanero. Even though I've never been there I've heard good things about it.

A good friend will be in Havana / Guanabo for two weeks from September 28th. I have given him good advice, but read here that it is more difficult to find hot young ladies than before. As a result of police fear.

I am new to this board and read a few pages back on Havana. I was there in early July with my wingman and stayed in a nice apt in Vedado only a few blocks from Hotel Melia Havana. We only speak broken Spanglish and rely on google translate. We were approached at 10-11 pm A couple of times while walking one block away from the Malecon. You probably could find jiniteras in that area but they fear the police and approach when no one is visible around. Word of caution, the jineteras can and do steal if you're not watching your stuff. My wingman, had 100 CUCS under the book by his bed which disappeared as well as some vitamins and sunscreen. If you're not interested in hard core putas, the general advise to start out with an "Hola, como estas" is always valid, if they don't answer you move on. If they do, find something to talk about, like do you know "where, what, which" nearby and then invite them to coffee, restaurant, apt, etc. If they accept, then high probability of scoring. We saw a nice chica walking by and a quick "Hola" and a conversation about the food quality at a restaurant on Calle 1 ra led an unforgettable session that night. She didn't mind a little p4 p. Once my wingman said Hello, to a cashier at the govt owned store and invited her over. Though not very attractive she was awesome in the sack and didn't expect any money at all, just gave her some women's lotion. Police can harass the girls without a doubt. And we experienced it first hand. On Sunday night after a few hours of rest upon arrival, while walking the Malecon saw two young girls sitting on the barrier wall with a rum bottle drinking. Having travelled throughout Latin and Asian countries I wouldn't rank Havana as a top destination but I would rank Cuban chicks as very passionate in bed if they like you. For me it was a one time visit and there are too many other places to visit.

I posted a rant about year or two ago about this situation. Basically I took my girl out to a nice restaurant one evening for a meal and a few drinks. When we were leaving, the police were waiting for us just outside the restaurant. Our taxi driver was there too (I've been using the same taxi driver in Havana for 2 years and know him fairly well). As soon as we stepped outside the restaurant the police confronted my girl. The interrogation began. Our taxi driver intervened and managed to get both of us into the taxi while he argued with the police. My girl was shitting in her pants, absolutely scared shitless, no way she was faking it.

So after 30 minutes of back and forth arguing, crying, begging etc. ,etc. The taxi driver came over and said 10 CUC and we could be on our way, this took place down in Old Havana at a nice Italian Restaurant.

Evening ruined, buzz killed, fucking ******* cops.

Apparently there's a whole industry set up to address this problem, so they have forged carnets made, with addresses in Provinces near Havana, say like Artemesia Province.Most of them are forgeries and you know for a fact that some are? How would you know that? The older carnets might not have been too difficult to copy but you would need some pretty expensive equipment to copy the new ones. Also whenever the cops stop the girls they quite often call in their carnet number to confirm the info. It would be an immediate prison sentence for sure to get caught with a fake carnet. I've seen girls with carnets belonging to other girls because they were [CodeWord902] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord902) but I haven't seen any fakes. Of course I would not easily have been able to spot a fake if it were the older carnets but with the newer ones with the barcodes. Etc I think it would be easily detected especially by the police. For my own protection I've always checked the girl's carnets and written down the ID info and nowadays I quite often take a pic of them with my cellphone.

I'm cool as shit with dude but wasnt about to give up 80 cuc. The cops handcuffed him and put him in the car when he called me over and said the cops would take 40 if I could loan him 40. I said I didn't have it and they took him away. One hour later he was back on the Sofia corner.
