just like to post a report on my trip in nov 2001 to santiago, my second time there. arrived in santiago late with my buddy and booked into a nice casa, two bedrooms each with own bathroom, lounge, kitchen. own entrance $40/night for whole appt. only 5 mins walk from my favorite area parque dolores. so walked down to matamoros bar, a bit quiet, but after a couple of beers noticed a very black, very friendly chica by the door who seemed to be having some trouble getting in, so, sir gallahad like, i invited her to join me. now my spanish is, to say the least, a bit limited but we soon sorted sorted out what i wanted and she came back with me to the casa, sex was ok but nothing special. having not negtiated a price beforehand she wanted to go through the tedious "i'm not a jinetera but i haven't got any food so you must pay me" routine, since it was my first night and i was knackered i couldn't be bothered so i just gave her 20 dollars and she pissed off. next day down to cafe dolores having my usual breakfast (cheese and ham sandwich and a can of cristal) and hitting me running is a girl i spent a lot of time with last trip. she did the full "oh my darling i've missed you" bit and she even looked a bit better than i remembered her, not one to look a gift horse in the crotch (sorry, mouth), away we went back to the casa. she was ok, bj + vaginal, but i had spent almost all my last trip with her and was looking for more excitement so said i'd see her later.

Yep Santiago is a paradise for tourists.

I stayed at one of the hotels around the Las Americas. If you don't want to stay in a Casa it's easy to hire a room in a Casa on a nightly basis. Though having said this I will stay in my own Casa on my next visit.

Some of the girls who are working the streets are okay but most of them are a bit rough and it is better to find company by a different route. It's also very dangerous for them, the police in Santiago are really on the ball.

There are two 24hr Cafes, the Las Americas (The food sucks) and a much better one situated under some trees opposite the main side entrance of the Hotel Melies de Santiago. You can't miss the Hotel Melies it's the big modern brightly painted building. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

If you sit alone in one of these cafes for any length of time you'll be chatted up or establish eye contact with a girl.

The Discos and Nightclubs are also good and the male guides and drivers who work the streets can also be very useful though some of them are a complete waste of time.

I connected with one of the better guides who for a slim fee $5 introduced me to two beautiful young women. One of them hated selling sexual services but the other one was really good at it.

A woman who works part time does not like to think of herself as a prostitute and it's important to respect this distinction. Maybe that's one reason why they don't ask for money and they let you decide how much to give them. I gave $20 and that seemed to be okay. On the whole I found that they worked much harder at turning me on and making me happy than any western pro that you are likely to come across.

The guides and the women will try to cling on to you and this can be quite nice because they will go out of their way for you and it can be enjoyable to see just one or two girls for the whole duration of the holiday. Much more of a girlfriend /boyfriend experience. I had two regulars and two one night stands.

I prefer Santiago, the city is cleaner and more tidy and well run than Havana which to my mind is a dusty, polluted, dilapidated dump and most of the girls on the game are just hardened pros.

The music in Santiago is also excellent and there are regular street parties down the Place de Revolution (I think) on a Saturday night when tens of thousands of the local population come out on to the streets to enjoy themselves.

Watch out for the trick of encouraging you take a shower while she rifles through your wallet. I caught one girl doing it to and I just took my wallet back and laughed at her.

There is one point that is worth remembering, if a local person goes out of their way to polite and friendly towards you then 99 times out of 100 they are after your money. The men can't sell sex but they will chat to you for hours before they ask you for some dollars and believe me the Cubans are a charming, witty, charismatic bunch of people.

The planes are old Antonov soviet jobs but they seem to fly ok.

Any other transport takes about 12 hours or more.

Their "international" minimum bid for RT is $400.

I don't know whether they serve Canada, but I don't know why not. You can get more details on their site.

Santiago is still permitting cuban girls to stay in a tourists room. All the houses are registering the girls and only one girl will be allowed. It is becoming much harder to find girls prepared to stay with you as girls who are registered in houses are being rounded up and jailed. That being said, Santiago seems to be the best place in Cuba at the present time.

Santiago is very under-rated. First of all it's cheaper than Havana because there aren't as many tourists. Also the cops hassle the girls less.

The going price is $25-$30 for 2 hours or even overnight. Don't pay more, some girls will try to say $50 is what she usually gets. Bull! But maybe some of the more inexperienced (or stupid) fellows may have dropped that, but lets not spoil them.

A good place to hang out during the day is Plaza de la Revolucion , grab a seat at Casa Grand and survey the park.

At night Club 300 and Casa de la musica (both within a block of Casa Grand are good pickup places.

Santiago is indeed very under-rated. I've been to many cities in Cuba, including Havana, and nothing compares to Santiago. A beautiful city with colonial architecture, tons of shady parks to hang out, many museums, and places of interest, playa siboney nearby, and a unmatched liveliness full of music. And like anywhere in Cuba, girls come in all colours and tastes here.

The going rate from my experience for the night is whatever the hell you wanna give them. My second night, I picked up a petite black girl in Club 300, great pick up place. Every girl in there will eye you waiting for an opening. She agreed to come back to my casa, and there was no mention of dinero. Had a great night, the next morning i gave her 15 bucks, and she seemed offeneded. I insisted she take it, the nice guy I am.

The city is full of great places to hang out night or day, it seems everywhere is a good pick up place honestly. Just make eye contact, smile and you'll get a friendly response.

Later on, I met a real sweetheart, a student, 22 years old. Very romantic, girlfriend-material, which shocked me cause I'm in Cuba aren't I? We spent a few nights together, and get this: She bought ME things like food, and museum entrances during the day, and she didnt want any money for spending time with me. There's a mind-fuck and a half for ya. I guess she just really wanted something serious, but I told her it ain't happening. Cubans are very smart, they know how to play you. But either way, I made sure she was happy in the end, and I sure as hell was.

See my report on my Havana trip to understand the circumstances of my mongering, since they were the same in Santiago, where I stayed for 5 days. Again, the best bet during the day is the Parque Cespedes where the same modus operandi applies as I mentioned in my Havana comments. You will also find girls, particularly later in the day, on the streets leading out from the Parque in a direction away from the port. Never paid more than $20 (usually not even discussed until it was time to part), and again we had to hunt for rooms, which ran from $12 to $20. Here, as in Havana, most of the girls I encountered were dark-complexioned to mulatta.

Wow. I'm surprised there is not more action being reported involving Santiago. I was in Cuba for 3 weeks in late January and spent time in both Habana and Santiago as well as points in between and Santiago was a much better place to monger overall than Habana. In Habana I witnessed several occasions where girls were led off by the arm to police cars as well as dozens of interogations. In Santiago the LE didn't seem to care in the slightest. I found the going rate to be $20 to $30 plus $10 to $20 for the casa. Girls did occasionally ask for $50 but willingly took less. If your Spanish is decent and you have some charisma (not necessarily looks) then a night on the town or perhaps less should be sufficient with the non to semi-pros. I found a little hole in the wall with bar stools off of Parque Cespedes in the same block as the cathedral where I managed to get phone numbers from 3 of the female employees, all at least 7's, using very broken Spanish. As for the easy pickings, they could mainly be found in Plaza Dolores between Parque Cespedes and Plaza de Revolucion during the day. Most are black young, enthusiastic and in the 5 to 7 range. At night, Parque Cespedes and the street between Plaza Dolores and Plaza Dolores itself hop. The girl to guy ratio was probably 5:1. My sense from Santiago is that girl friendly casas are probably much easier had than Habana and there is much less risk to the girl.

Well, I've been to Santiago for six days. The place is great. There were some nice looking girls out there! The action is the best at night between 1900 and 24.00 hours. Between parc cesperes and plaza the revolution there are lots of girl. I had no ploblem at all with the police. When you hold the girl right next to you, you'll never be in any problem. Found a good casa particular in the center. There is some problem with the registration of the girls in the casa's. The best tip i can give you girl-lovers is to find a casa which will not register the girl when you take them home. Because when the casa owner once ask her for her ID, you will be stuck with that girl for the rest of your stay, until you find another casa. The price is almost everytime 20 dollars. For that money she will stay the night with you if you want to. Dont stay in a hotel, because then you pay 10-15 dollars for a casa particular or you pay 50 dollars to the securityguard at the hotel. Some nice places to go are de casa de la musica or the discobar at the back of hotel santiago. But do not go there for the girls because they are pro's (nice but expensive). When I was in Santiago, I visited the Universidad there. Nice place to hang out and make contacts with regular girls. When I was at the University, I was able to talk to couple of regular girls with my limited Spanish. Forming a relationship with regular girls will take some time. It can't be done in 5 days and fluent Spanish is absolutely necessary.

I do not know about the University of Santiago, but the University of Havana does have private teachers to teach you spanish. Lankan_Lover, you will have to pay for these teachers. To be honest I do not know how much they charge, but I have seen and met a buch of Canadians, Americans and Brittish folks getting taught English at the Havana Libre Hotel. I asked this American guy that I met and he say is one full sementers of learning Spanish with a private Teacher. I know what you guys are thinking, if aside from being tutor one can get any action with these teachers. The teachers that I saw were woman over the age of 50 and they look quite UGLY. I would not fuck these women even with Fidel Dick.

Lankan_Lover, I have also heard that the University of Santa Clara also offers the same, so I would assume that the University of Santiago offers the same also. I once met a couple of South Africans who were at the Melia Santiago Hotel using the internet who kind of said that they were learning spanish from this lady that I know of in Santiago. But to be honest I do not know if she is associated with the University. She does live by the University right on the Carreteral Central that goes to the Virgen De Caridad Statue.

When you go back just ask the students they will be able to refer you to the Department if the University has one.

The rate of a casa paricular in this period is 15$ if you contact direcly (i speak spanish) the owner otherwise take in account 5 bucks more for the commission to whom will introduce you. The room has 1 double bed, aircon, bathroom, hot water, and sometimes a small refrigerator or a radio with tapes.

I'll be there at the end of the month, I hope.

Been there last year,

"popular" places as Parks and 18 plantas are under police observation. Nothing that a little "wisdom" can't handle.

In Santiago there are chances to find darker girls than in Havana, and generally, cheaper. Let's say a semi-pro goes around 15$, a pro around 25-30$. Freebies possible.

Stay away from the Tropicana disco. Hardcore pro's and high prices for a quickie, most of the times.

Rent a motorbike, ride around, and you should still make it through. If you get a 7, my advice is to keep her, and start the "pool/restaurant/room/restaurant/room" typical life.

Freebies are possible if you can talk spanish and if you have game. If you have game freebies are very possible.

Casa in the center of town are in $15 to $20 a day range. Casa in Repartos Santa Barbara, Suenos and Vista Alegre are in the $20 to $25 dollars a day range.

Girls in this town come in many diferent prices from freebies to $80 for the night (ussually the girls that you pay she will want to come with you and hang for free the rest of the nights)

Guys, one more thing, if you can afford it rent a car in drive to the Mayas or beyond. You will be rewarded be very well if you drive into Mayas or beyod here into the country side.

San Luis is another little town with alot hot prospect.

Again this is not a mongering report. My girlfriend met me at the airport and she had set up a casa for us in the Santa Barbara section of Santiago. The cost for the casa was $20 a night with good hot water for showers.

An excellent sightseeing destination is El Moro. It is about 15 minutes away from where we stayed in Santa Barbara. It is a fort at the front of the bay. As you walk though the fort, you will feel like Errol Flynn in one of his movies. I also recommend the restaurant here. The special was for $12.00 and served family style. Not sure if it is all you can eat, but I sure ate like a pig. The cerdo asado ( pork ) was awesome.

Another restaurant I recommend, actually it is a paladar, is Restaurante Salon Tropical. The address is Fernandez Marcane No. 310 altos, e/9 y 10 Rpto. Santa Barbara. It was about a 1/2 block walk from our casa. The restaurant is located on the roof of a house and is outside. Very romantic, good food and with a slight breeze, it was wonderful.

One night we went to La Maison. The fashion show consisted of Six women and four guys. Of the six women, three were very douable. I'am not sure if you can take these girls out or not, but I'am thinking you could, probably at a higher rate. Entrance fee was $5.00 per person which included a drink, and a bottle of champagne. After the show we had dinner there, nothing to write home about. The food was just okay.

I enjoy Santiago better than Havana because of course my girlfriend is there, but also the scenery is better, not as much police presence, and not as much hustle. Lastly, my flights to and from Santiago from Havana, were on time. The first time I went, I had delays up to 2 hours. Hopefully, this is how it will be from now on.

Sounds like you caught some of the black magic woman fever. I'm tempted to leave Toronto on the 2 of Dec. $585 CA for a week. hotel, air, booze, food, AI, ect., but I just booked air for Havana in Jan for less.

I would drink and eat them out of hotel and motel, and enjoy screwing a Canadian girl on the beach again. I've had some great luck in the hotels years ago. It was easy, didn't have to rent a casa, and they already had a room. It isn't for everybody, but I met this Torontonian East Indian lady from Guyana in Cienfuegos, and it was as if we were on honeymoon.

I'm going to spend a week in Guantanamo with a Cuban pal, who is taking off for vaca from work. He knows a guy and he's renting us a casa for 10 peso Cubano each night. About three bucks for the week. He said a taxi cost 3 pesos for Guantanamo, and everything else is much cheaper. He said the girls in the area don't want money, they want clothes. There is nothing to buy in the area stores.

He has been talking to me about going for over a year, and we planned the trip in October. My expectations are high. I hope his descriptions of endless switch-offs and tag-teaming, match sex-o-rama reality. What a sex tourist he is planning to become. The Oriente is almost a different country from Havana. My pal doesn't get along with those from the east, because no self-respecting Habanero would pimp out their girlfriend or wife. Palestinos have no problems turning them out for five bucks, if it gets them a $2 rifle of rum, and a dollar plate of fried chicken.

Iust back from another great trip, went back to Los Galeones and spent the week in Chivirico. This time my "novia" didn't hit me up for any money, as she did when I was there the first time just a few weeks ago. She told me to keep my money in my pocket. Of course I brought some clothes and stuff for her and her boy, and sort of paid her way during the week, but thats nothing different than what i'd do for girlfriends up here in Canada. I was told that the best time to go to this area is in the summertime, apparently Chivirico becomes a real party place for the Cubans, and there are no tourists. There are no flights of course from Canada to Santiago de Cuba during the summer. I am thinking of trying to get a couple of guys together, taking the month of July or August, flying to Havana, renting a motorhome and travelling the island. Should be a fun time.

I took my girlfriend to the Hotel Las Americas for some live music. It was at the open bar above the pool area. Not sure what the name of the place was. Anyways they have live music and I noticed that there were a few girls waiting by the entrance to be pickup on. There were about 6 girls there, two I would have done if I wasn't with my girlfriend. The show starts around 10:30 at night. So for any newbies or oldies who want another place to search for some companionship this maybe a good alternate. I'd avoid Santiago at all costs if hobbying is all you're after. I was just there in Feb and it was a waste of time. The nice good-looking girls have all been chased away/jailed so it can be really hard. The only ones left are the hard core ex-convicts that'd be rejected by inner city beauty pageants.

I have been to Santiago five times since 2000 and the last time was in 2004.

The best places for a newcomer are:

First, visit the Casa de la Trova close to Hotel Casa Grande( a white colonial style Hotel in downtown Santiago); it is a place where you can hear live the music of cuba as salsa music takes its root from the "son" as I was explained by Cubans. A lot of the musicians congeregate there from 2 p.m. up to 11 p.m. especially if there is a group ( a busload) of foreign tourists coming there. The place on the ground floor is alive during the day but comes night you head to the upstairs where you can dance at the sound of usually an 8-men band with local Santiago salsa dancers show their style. Lots of women there, just smile and get eye contact with women who are alone and in small groups. Just tell them you are looking for a "novia" and pay them a beer ( a beer costs about a dollar) and you are on easy street.

Second place to hit : on the same street as Casa de la Trova , mostly in the evening , about 100 feet going south is a bar with dancing space where musical groups come to play for tourists with a woman mulata M.C. quite friendly; pay her a beer and tell her you are looking for a novia and she will send you one or two willing chicas . The entrance fee is about three dollars and usually there are , mostly on week-ends , groups of chicas at the door who want to get in but cannot afford the entrance fee. Pick one and pay the entrance fee for her .

Another place is Casa de la Musica , where you pay an entrance fee of 6-7 dollars ; the place is usually full of chicas looking for men willing to spend a few bucks on them. This place is on the other side of the Hotel Casa Grande, ask any waiter at Casa GRande ; it is about 3 minutes walk from Casa Grande and during the winter on weekends it is usually packed ; tell the waiter you are looking for chicas and tip him a dollar .

There are other places but for a beginner in Santiago, you cannot miss if you are smiling and making eye contact with the chicas.

I’ve been to Santiago a few times before, but not for the last 3 years. Last month I went on a package to one of the all inclusive resorts about 1 – 1 ½ hours outside of town. I don’t really want to get too specific here since I’m not sure who monitors this site. I thought I’d spend some nights in Santiago but wanted the resort to stay in for most of my trip.

On my first full day there I was walking along one of the mostly deserted roads near the resort when a couple of chicas got off a local bus. The bus was the first vehicle I’d seen in about ½ hour. I don’t speak Spanish and they weren’t too talkative but when they were turning off onto a dirt path one of them asked me if I wanted the other one. She had sort of a laughing tone but I took her up on it. Neither was great looking but I was in the middle of nowhere. Turns out she was joking but a local guy appeared out of the woods to translate/help. Anyone who’s been to Cuba knows these guys. They’ll jump on any excuse to talk to a tourist to see what they can get out of them.

Normally I avoid these guys like the plague. I’ve always found girls on my own in Cuba and I don’t really like having to give someone else a cut just for introducing me to them. I almost walked away at this point, but there wasn’t anyone else around and this was my first day so I figured I’d play along for a while and see what happened. He told me could set me up with a girl so I followed him through the woods. I didn’t have much cash or anything valuable so I wasn’t too concerned about safety issues. I wouldn’t have done this in any other country I’ve been to.

After about 10 minutes we got to a shack. He told me to wait, went in and came out with a mid-thirties, fat, butt-ugly chick. I told him this wasn’t what I was looking for and she didn’t see interested anyway (whew!). He assured me he knew someone else so I followed him to another shack about 5 minutes farther. There was a couple in there 20’s at this place. At first I thought he was trying to set me up with this other guy’s girlfriend/wife but then she left to find the other girl. That probably would have been too strange for me……but I might have gone for it. After about another 10 minutes I was about to give up on this fiasco. I could see the main dirt path so I was pretty sure I could find my way back. Finally, they came back. This girl was really nice. She was 18, about 5’8”, thin with long black hair. At this point they started talking price.

I knew I was in the middle of nowhere and I knew these people make next to nothing. But I also knew the money had to be split between the guy that took me up there, the couple that lived in the shack, and the girl. I told them 20 cuc was all I would give them. The first guy was trying to get me up to 25 or 30 but I was firm. I told them if everything was good I’d be back several times so they agreed. I still think it was a bit high since I went back 9 times! That’s a lot of money to Cubans, especially ones who live out in the country. This girl was really good. She let me take some pix, but not others. I’ll post them in the photo section.

On the last day of my trip I went up there and the guy told me to come back later since three girls from Santiago were coming up. I’ll put up a pic of the girl I ended up with, but she was a disappointment. She wouldn’t let me take any pix with her undressed and she just wasn’t a good choice. Lot’s of talk about how much money I would give her and what she wouldn’t do. I think we’ve all been there. Most girls I’ve been with in Cuba didn’t even bring up money. She was the best looking of the three but I got a bit of a bad feeling about her and ignored it. One of these days I’ll start trusting my gut feelings a bit more.

I don’t have any contact info. Even if I told you the hotel, I couldn’t tell you how to find them up in the woods.

I know what you are talking about because the same thing happen to me in Cuba. My experience was in Las Tuna or rather right out side of las tunas. I was going to Santiago from Las Tunas. On the circle where you select to Holguin or Bayamo I saw these two real hot chick. I stopped and i asked where they were going they said they were going 10 km on the Carretera Central toward Bayamo. The hotel didn’t rent scooters. It was pretty isolated and I didn’t want to rent a car. Since I had the chica in the woods within walking distance and I was there for a vacation, I decided to hang out there for a while. Pussy wasn’t the only reason for my trip or I would have been in a casa in the city. I went through a couple of fiascos – I was supposed to get a scooter from another hotel but the rep never showed up. Another day I was going to go to Baracoa with a few other tourists. Someone had made arrangements for a van with a driver but they never showed up either. That’s just Cuba – plans fall through all the time. I did eventually manage to get a scooter and I was able to head to Santiago.

I went into Santiago and immediately went to a casa I’d rented years ago. I know where it is, but I don’t know the street name or have contact info. I’d been there a few times and the owner speaks English and was always good about letting bring girls in whenever I wanted. He used to have an email address, but not any more. He had a room for me and everything was cool.

I spent the next few hours wandering around town. I wasn’t looking for any of the hard-core working girls. I like find regular girls who are interested in meeting a tourist. I went around all the places I used to find women but didn’t really find anything. It really had changed. When I was there before there were swarms of available women – not this time. There were three hotties sitting on a bench in a park near the Las Americas who seemed interested. I circled back and zeroed in on the one I was interested in. We talked for a while but she ended up telling me she couldn’t go with me because she was on her period. She seemed a bit paranoid. I think it was b.s., but who knows. I saw a couple of pros, but that wasn’t what I was looking for.

I was back near Dolores Park when I walked passed a full bus. There was a stunning girl with huge tits giving me eye from the other side of the door. Two days later I met the big-titted girl at Siboney. Her friend was a pain in the ass. She wanted me to take all of them to a paladar and tried to tell me how Cuban girls could not go to a casa with a tourist. At that point I got pissed off and told her I didn’t come there to see her and wasn’t talking to her. I asked my girl if she wanted to go with me to Santiago or not. I wasn’t going to play these games so I was leaving with or without her. She came with me and spent the night at my casa. She was a bit moody and the sex was mediocre – but I can’t stop thinking about that body. I gave her $20 cuc and told her she should buy something for herself. She didn’t hesitate taking it and seemed happy with it.

That’s about it. I only spent 2 nights in Santiago. I think I’m going to try to save enough money for a trip to Asia next winter. Maybe the Philippines, I’m not really sure so I’ll have to start doing some research. I’m looking for a place with a nice beach with decent diving and snorkelling and available women. I wouldn’t have a ton of cash either so price is always a concern.

PS. I can't send you PMs, that's why I write on the board...I really wouldn't recommend my hotel for women. It was in the middle of nowhere over an hour from Santiago. I think if you want to go to an all inclusive in that area, the Bucanero is the best bet. It's only about 20 minutes from Santiago. I booked a 'roulette' package so I didn't find out which hotel I was in until I got off the plane.

I'm also not into discos, pubs or using the guys that want to sell you cigars, find you a casa or find you women. I tend to wander around on my own see what I can come up with. If a nice looking chica looks back at me I'll be very direct with her. I like to find more regular girls than pros.

I stayed there a week ago. I stayed in a Hotel as I didn't like Casa options when I last stayed in Holguin. Lots of Oppotunites, chicas approahing you on the street and the like. they all knew of a casa, but it could be pricey 20 for the Casa and 40 for the chica. Everything was discreet. Normally I would walk around and find them that way. Also a few Bars around produced some results.

Around Parque Cespedes I ppicked up 3 girls. Not in the Parque, but walking around it. If I saw someone I liked I would follow them pout of the Parque and talk to them Most were quite receptiive. There are too many police IN the Parques, so it is better to be outside.

I found there was always a few around everywhere I went. I previously was in holguin a lot, but very few girls and tyoo many Police around theere. Also the Casas were very restrictive, so I stayed in Hotels this Trip. Santiago seemed more wide open. Not sure how restrictive the Casas are, but they all seem eager to rent short time. I know a bit of spanish, that helps too.

When you were in Varadero did you not go into Habana? You can get there in less than an hour with a taxi or with the Viazul bus and Havana is loaded with girls...

I've only been to Varadero for one day, and I agree, it's no place to look for chicas.

Haven't done Santiago or Holquin yet, so can't help you out there. Other than to say, that if you're into black girls, Santiago is supposedly the place to go.

I have been to Cuba 4 times, but always to Varadero and always with company.

In 2 weeks I will be going to Santiago alone, for a week.

I have booked a week in an all inclusive (same price as the flight alone) so I can always take a casa when needed.

Since I have never been alone and was in the worst place to find action, I could use a little help.

Do you have any suggestions as to good areas to meet none professionals, either daytime or night time?

I spent a couple of days in Santiago in May this year, and the situation was not bad at all...
I personally found interesting chicas in Place Cespedes, in the center of town, and the alleys around. Just stroll around, srinking mojitos, and you'll see who's working and who's not....

La Casa de la Musica is just around the corner, there is a lot of movement.

Plenty of pimps (chulos), rely on them to find a chica if you prefere.

25 cuc per night should be a good bargain (via a pimp). I found a stunner, that I brought to my casa, since the owned allowed it. BBJ, FK, multiple sessions...

ThanksI can make a few suggestions. There are a lot of people, and a lot of police, in Parc Cespedes. If you make eye contact with someone you're interested in then walk down a side street. If she's interested she will follow but she probably wont talk to you there. I always avoid the pimps. It might take a bit of time but I'd rather meet a girl on my own. There are full time working girls there and they aren't what I'm looking for, I prefer regular girls. If you see a hot girl anywhere in Santiago just go up and talk to her. I don't speak much Spanish at all so I usually ask them if they speak English. If they smile and try to communicate then within a couple of minutes I'll ask if they want to come to my casa. It's that simple. I would NEVER pay more than 20, whether she stays with you for a couple of hours or all night. In my experience, a regular girl will not ask about money at all. If she doesn't say anything, I'll hand her money before she leaves and tell her I want to get her a present or something.

As far as your casa goes, be 100% sure you can bring chicas back. If not, find another one. You mention you are going to an all inclusive. Most of them are pretty far out of town. I always rent scooters and I pick up girls hitch-hiking on them. Cars are great, but too expensive for me. You could probably get a ride to town on the staff bus if you don't want to rent anything - just give the driver 2 or 3 pesos. The Bucanero has a shuttle but I haven't taken it so I'm not sure how reliable it is.

That cafe is at the hotel Casa Granda overlooking Parc Cespedes. Very nice place but not somewhere you meet locals as security wont let just anyone up there. You can bring a girl up there if she'll go. There's also a rooftop bar on that hotel with spectacular views.

I do have another questions, how much is it for a acceptably clean, private casa? Can you rent them for half a day? (I do have a place to sleep for free if shes not going to stay the night.

Also, any restaurant recomendations? I probably will need a break from the "Buffet" and/or won't want to waste the time to go back to the Hotel.

In my experience I pay $15 or $20 for a casa and I usually get breakfast included. The most important thing is finding a casa where you can bring girls without any problems. If you find the right place you can try to work out a deal with the owner. I doubt you will do much better, but you never know.

The two places I usually eat are the outdoor restaurant behind the Melia Hotel Santiago and the outdoor restaurant at the Las Americas Hotel. They are pretty close to one another. Both places have decent cheap food. I recommend you pay attention to the menu prices (especially at the Las Americas) as they will routinely bring you a bill with inflated amounts.

If you are looking for touristy things to do I have a couple of recommendations. Gran Piedra is a great trip. It's tough getting up there on a scooter but you can do it, just make sure you go on a really clear day. There are about 454 steps up to the top of the boulder but the views are worth it. Morro Castle and San Juan Hill are pretty interesting too.

I might be going in December but I'm not sure yet so I'm curious how things go. Please post a report when you get back. Anything else, just ask.

Well I’ve been back from Santiago for 2 day’s and just want to go back…

As I said in my previous posts I went for and all inclusive and promised to post my report when I come back so here we go…

1st thing, the hotel was a little over ½ hour car drive out of town so I only went in town once.

Driving in with a moped or rented vehicle would be for the experienced Cuban visitor only because it is far and plenty of unmarked roads, I was able to get a private taxi for 10$ each way.

I took the taxi into town one evening with intention of listening to good Cuban music having a few drinks and meet a nice lady. Well, when I walked around my hormones took over and I missed the music and drinks (what the hell there free at my hotel anyway!) after 2 minutes walking in the Cepedes park area a saw this sexy young lady checking me out, I approached her and asked if she was interested (witch she was) but then I asked her age and the answer was 16… Damn!

Took me all of 10 minutes to find another beauty, this one was 22 year old student but spoke no English or French at all, with my very limited Spanish, I had to ask for a little help to get everything in order.

I found I guy in a restaurant door that was very helpful. After buying him a beer and a pack of smokes he did a bit of translation for me and helped me find a casa particular for the night (I’m sure he got a cut of that also)

I probably overpaid a bit: 35$ for the girl and 25$ for the casa but my god what a nice petite body on this girl. She had asked for 40$ for the night, dealt her down to 30 and told her I would give her 35$ if I was happy; Call it performance insurance if you will.

Let me just say that after a 2 hour session, 6 condoms in the evening and a nice ½ hour wake up BJ I a paid the 35$ with a smile.

Had a second experience outside Santiago, this time just a 15 minute walk away from my hotel.

I was invited for a lobster meal for 10$ in a private home and found a nice lady there. After the meal, I treated myself. This one was far from the quality of the previous lady; she was about 30 years old with a decent body. Thank god I never leave without a condom.

I was offered a room for 10$ I gave the lady 20$ for about 2hours of fun in the sun…

In case you are interested the lobster wasn’t very good but I will live!

The hotel would not allow any guets and when we tried from the back entrnace the guard there wouldn't either.

No 1 had any info or info 2 share so I went to Santa Maria / Guanabo area-the eastern beaches of Havana again.

Things are the same there-dark skin girls are more aggressive while the lighter skinned girls are timid.

For me Cuba isn't hardcore mongering because I have no spanish skills whatsoever, I like 2 play it safe when it comes 2 eating so I'm an AI kinda guy who relaxes on the beach, has a few drinks, eat as well as 1 could in Cuba & tries 2 get laid 2-4 times per week.

Baracoa has great offshore diving. There are no licensed dive facilities, but several guys who fill tanks/rent gear/do dives out of their homes.

I was off the mongering market while in Baracoa, but it seems to have good oppurtunities for mongering.

Baracoa is heavily populated by dark-skinned women of african descent.

Baracoa is a beautiful spot, very out of the way and hard to get to, but if you are in Santiago, you must go there, as a side trip (it is not that far - maybe a 100 miles). I saw more tourists in Baracoa than nearly anywhere else in Cuba. If you come from Santiago, you definetly want to see the north side of town. Take the road again back out of town (the road towards Moa) - go appx 25-30km towards Moa and you will see some of the most beautiful country of your life. This is like Tahiti.

As for mongering, Baracoa, like all of Cuba has the standard rules against jiniterismo. Baracoa seems especially vigilant about this. I was told by the police that if you have a cubana gf she has to register BOTH at the police station as well as at the hotel/casa. First time I heard of this in Cuba. As for mongering, I didn't see any dedicated pros walking around. I met a few locals who seemed very interested, mostly they were in the campo outside of Baracoa town proper. However I was off the market and didn't partake. Baracoa city proper has minimal prospects, (the cityfolk seemed to scared of talking to extranjeros) - your best prospects will be in the surrounding campos, where the chicas are more friendly.

I don't think Baracoa is a mongering destination, but there are prospects for those who are in Baracoa for other reasons. The best reason to visit Baracoa is for tourism, and is definetly a must for all visiting Santiago.

Hi there. Apologies for the very long delay in this section of my report regarding my trip in Apr/May. This section follows straight on from my report in the Santa Clara section.

Day 6/Sat - Following the long, horrible overnight coach ride from Santa Clara, I arrived in Santiago around lunch time. As explained before, I had felt forced to book a proper hotel here in order to get my visa. I had booked the Casa Grande and got a taxi there. The taxi driver had an old guy as a passenger and they were both trying to talk me into staying at his casa particular. I kept the card anyway. For those who do not know, the Casa Grande is a colonial style hotel on the main square. First of all, the room wasn't ready. I got the impression that there was a power cut. Thus, the lift wasn't working. However, upon entering the room I realised there was no main light, except for 2 bed side lights. Admittedly wanting to find some fault, I kicked up a fuss about this. To cut a long story short, I ended up getting a taxi to the local agents office. Lucky to catch them even if they were closed, they told me to get my stuff and leave the hotel and find some other accommodation. They assured me they would sort things out and that I had to return on Mon. So, I got my stuff and went to that old guys place. Really nice family with a kid. Really got me interested in the baseball. Room was ok too.

At some point, a guy who said he lived nearby introduced himself to me and said he could arrange girls for me. Unfortunately, despite searching for him I never did get to take advantage of this offer. I saw him once on his way to work in the morning and he once came looking for me when I wasn't in.
If my memory serves me right, in the evening I went to a bar on a street between the main square and another square called 'el baturro'. It was quite empty and this chunky, younger black girl helped me out. She started talking to me and was soon kissing me etc. She wanted to go back to my place, but as it ws early I resisted. I ended up arranging to meet up with her there at 1pm on my last day there (Tues).

If my memory serves me right, I ended up on a wild goose chase looking for women. It culminated in going to the square (can't remember the name) near the main one. I got a guy to search for a woman and had to pay him for his trouble. We were sat at the bar that's beside the square when this tall, dark, slim, young chica shows up. He talks to her and I negotiated with her. I think she wouldn't do sex or something and definitely not anal. Back at the room, she kicked up quite a fuss about the photos but eventually agreed, using a scarf as a blindfold. She was decent at what she did. Says she goes to England to see her boyfriend sometimes and teaches dance. Said she was 19.
The old guy stayed up till she left but was cool with everything.

Day 7 - Sun - Took a taxi ride (arranged by the old guy) to the Gran Piedra. The driver was cool and started talking to him about chicks. He mentioned his step daughter who was single etc. Naturally said she was not a ***** etc. Took me to meet her and another chick who he said might be interested in a good time. Met her but didnt stick around and went to his daughter instead. She came away with us and we went to a bar. Lunch and drinks ensued followed by a trip to my room. Despite loads of talking all I got was a couple of kisses as she was a tough nut to crack so decided to cut my losses.

Not sure if it was that night when I was in one of the bars around the main square. A group sat near me. There was an older lady (must have been at least 50) who was dressed all sexy and was thin as a stick. Had this look that I find dead sexy. She was blonde and white but tanned. There was also a gorgeous younger chick in her early 20's and a younger white guy with them. Turns out it was mother, son and daughter. The guy started a conversation with me and turns out they live near where I was staying and know the owner. The weird thing was that I'm sure he offered me his sister!! Later he said I could come to their place for drinks and snacks etc. Can't remember if I actually said that I wanted his mother, but I was thinking about it!! Anyway, I smelled a rat and they left before me. The kids both spoke good english.

The main action came from hanging round the main square. Dodging polic was tricky. I attracted the attention of 2 girls. One light and the other dark. Both were quite young but the darker one was younger. I said I wanted the older one. We agreed on DATY/BBBJ/FSWC for about 30 CUC. We arranged for my taxi to pick her up just off the square. Back at my place it turns out that she knows the owner. They chat for a while and he waits up as before. In the room she changes her mind about photos and kicks up a bit of a fuss. Eventually I backed down but we didn't part fully amicably. More about this later. Service was ok otherwise.

Day 8 - Mon - Got my accommodation issues resolved. They provided a written statement for me to send to my agent at home in order to get a full refund of my hotel costs. The night before on of the taxi particulars I had used started talking about women. They said they could offer a really nice 19 year old the next day. I arranged for them to bring her around about 6pm. True to form they did come and she was a bit of a stunner. However, she would not accept taking photos and to this day I regret letting her go.

The night was another long one and ended up in getting a taxi to the big hotels. On the way back we spotted a black girl walking on her own. She was thin and a bit of a freak. I'm pretty sure she agreed to everything for 20 CUC. She was pretty good in the sack and also allowed photos only after using the blindfold as before.

Day 9 - Tues - My last day in town. I hadn't forgotten my date with the girl at El Baturro. However, I was hoping not to have to use that as she was scary. Anyway, it started raining from around 12pm as I headed out to my rendez vous. I decided to go to that bar near the square where I had picked up on the first night. To cut a long story short, I ordered lunch and soon after a stunner of a young, blonde chick sat in a table nearby and ordered her food. This was a very strange experience and would like anyone'e interpretation of what went on.

Due to the rain, she started up a conversation with me. Before I knew it she was at my table and we were both having drinks. She made it a point that she had quite a bit of money on her. Anyway, soon a guy shows up and they greet each other etc. The story is that they study together at college part time and are friends. She says her father is in the USA and she is going there soon on holiday. We had already touchedabout relationships etc. Anyway, at some point when we are on our own we end up kissing. She carries this on in his presence too. Whilst we are all drinking at this point, he sticks to soft drinks only.

During this, disaster strikes. The girl from el baturro tracks me down there!! To make it worse she has a big black guy in tow. I make up an excuse about the rain etc. Anyway, they insist I pay them and after a lot of arguments in which my new friends try and help, I end up paying something silly like 5CUC. By this point, we had agreed to go back to my place just to 'talk' before I had to catch my coach. We have trouble getting a taxi and end up in a private vehicle. Back at my place, the old guy says 2 things. Firstly, something about a girl causing trouble about photos. I don't understand this and decide to leave this till later. More importantly, he says he doesn't want her in the house as he knows she is trouble etc. The upshot of this is that my little head has taken control and I suggest going to her place. She is a bit nervous about this but agrees. I prepare by not taking money or cell phones with me, despite the old guy's warnings. Anyway, it is still raining and time has got on and we decide to leave it. Getting a taxi was another factor. She was such a hottie that my heart sank. We kissed passionately before she left with him. It struck me as strange that he had to come with us everywhere.

Speaking to old man later, it turns out that sh ripped off a previous guest of his. I wasn't convinced with this excuse for not letting her in the room with me in broad daylight with everyone around. With regards to his other issue, he was saying that the chick from Sat nite came around looking for me as she was unhappy about the photos. She was talking about going to the police etc. The surprising thing was that she was the coolest of the 3 girls I had and it was the one on Sun who was talking about things like that. Needless to say that he was pretty shook up by that and I was slightly worried too, but nothing came of it as I left Santiago soon after.

Now, as a cynic, I presumed that the incident on the afternoon had to be a scam with the guy being her boyfriend. However, I struggle to see what they would have got out of it except for a couple of drinks, especially as we were going to my place. Also, the behaviour of the old man was a bit strange. Let me know what you think about this. The other paradox is that I wonder what would've happened if I had just made my rendezvous as planned and had that black girl instead? Mightve been a nightmare considering her general attitude.

Well, judging what went on is not easy not having been there. But certain things does stick out to me:

2. A guy tagging along. Always a bad sign. I always make a point of never involving cubanos in my exploits with cubanas. If they are around when I meet her, I get rid of them. If they come around after I've met her, I tell them politely that their services are not needed. Is he her boyfriend? Her chulo? her bodyguard getting a cut? Or all of the above? I can't tell.

3. If the old guy you were staying at were supercool with all the other girls you brought around, why would he make a case out of this one? I see no other obvious reason than because she did in fact rip of a previous tenant. Off course, there could be other reasons, but none I can guess from your report.

This casa, by the way, did the owner want carnet from the girls and did he write down names? I am looking for a super chica-friendly casa for my next trip to Santiago as I stayd in a shitty casa last time around. This was actually in May, so about the same time as you. Who knows, maybe I bagged that fat girl after you let her go, LOL.

PS: Sounds to me like you inquire about photos upon meeting and negotiating with the girls? Why not wait and just take out the camera when you're in the casa laughing it up with her and she knows you're a cool guy? This is my tactic at least, and seems to work fine. The cubanos that I have let tag along, have universally committed the following sins:

1.) Getting drunk at my expense
2.) Eating massive amounts of food at my expense
3.) Monopolizing the conversation, hampering my abilities to woo the chica.

Furthermore,I am sure that if I did score with the chica they would gossip it all over town and ruin her reputation.

The exception to this rule is with cubanos that you know really well, your 'freinds'. Many of them have been an aid.

Hi guys. Just a response to the posts below. I found the carnet situation interesting. My experience was pretty symmetrical. The places I stayed in Havana and Santiago insisted that the girl had her carnet but they didn't register them (punto, as they called it). Santa Clara and Cienfuegos on the other hand did and would definitely want the punto thing. This is what caused me to change casa in S.C.

I appreciate your advice about the interesting situation I was in. I thought it might have been more serious than that. Anyway, about the photos I actually like to take video footage also and I prefer to get it clarified beforehand. I pretty much managed it with most girls I had.

Ordinary people likewise as the keep on informing the PNR and Immigration on your activities. As you can see I'm VERY negative, was there for two weeks and that was 14 days to long.

I got back from 7 days in Santiago last week. Things have really changed. Paranoia is running rampant. They put up cameras all over the place and the people think they are being watched 24 hours a day. I can't see them really doing that, but it doesn't matter because the Cubans think they are.

I met one random girl who wouldn't talk to me for more than a few seconds and then followed me back to my casa. She was ok and I gave her 15 plus she picked up a couple of 1 cuc coins on my table. That's about average.

One girl I've seen on my past couple of trips is now in jail. I contacted another one I knew from a previous trip and pretty much spent the rest of my week with her. She would barely go out of the casa with me.

In my many trips to Santiago I've never seen anything like this. In the last few years it's just gotten steadily worse. When I first went nobody seemed the least bit concerned about a tourist with a Cuban. I bought a ticket for my next trip before this one but if I hadn't I don't think I'd be going back for a while.

I will have to agree with most people before me that Santiago is not a good place foe sexual escapades anymore as not only Police is getting vigilant but also locals. I have had a situation myself a few weeks ago when I banged a young woman at night. I checked her into the hotel I was staying at around 9:00pm and let her go home in the morning. In the afternoon, one of the people I know from her neighbourhood told me that the girl was chastised by some of her neighbours. The girl was so distraught that she turned her face the other way when I drove by her house that same afternoon. Mind you that she was not a Jinetra. I worked hard for a couple of days to get her to join me at my hotel. So mongers beware when approaching girls in Santiago.

The mongering situation in Santiago is now very, very bad when compared with five years ago (when I had a great time). As others have posted already, there are now cameras all over town and there is a particularly heavy police presence. It was even worse during my visit as I arrived at the time they were preparing for Chavez’ and Raul’s visit for the celebration of 50 years revolution. Fortunately, I could still fall back on a few old contacts of earlier visits. If not, it would have been really difficult for me to find any action. I did see a few black girls making contact with tourists in the open air cafeteria near the Plaza Dolores but they looked very professional. There were hardly any girls in the streets at night – a striking contrast with the good availability five years ago. And if you see any, they tend to avoid eye-contact. For the moment, Santiago is definitely a place to avoid.

this is super late, but i decided to go ahead and write this report before it became obsolete. so i arrived in santiago after 8 pm after a long day, there is the usual chaos with taxi drivers at the viazul station. i had been given the address of a casa by the senora of my casa in havana or trinidad. i checked in, walked to a nearby paladar and had a quiet meal by myself. i then started walking around the streets and drawn by the sound of music, wandered into the casa de la trova. it must have been pretty late when i got there, because the band was playing its last song of the night and the place was emptying. i chilled and looked around, and this woman comes up to me and starts a conversation.
