DR girls are stunningly attractive, but many of the photographs you see don't capture their real personalities, for example most have wonderful smiles and eyes and once those eyes are focused on yours, you will find it hard to resist. (I know this because my wife is a very beautiful Dominicana, arguably the best looking woman in the city where I live, but she doesn't look good in photos unless she is smiling.) BBs is right at the beach and in a very pleasant setting with many beautiful flowering trees, a few shops and restaurants within walking distance, no loud traffic.

Depending on what week you go to BB, the company will vary. You may meet some great guys and make lifelong friends, or you may not. It is luck of the draw.

You don't say if you speak Spanish or not. If you don't, I urge you to spend your 2 months learning as much as possible. With CDs you can learn a lot in that time. I studies Spanish about an hour a day for 6 weeks before my first visit and it was a HUGE benefit, I cannot overemphasize how much this will improve your experience of the DR. At least learn how to do a basic interview with a chica, ask her where she is from, does she have kids, what are their names etc. Tell her she is beautiful. EXCELLENT POINT---------FELLOWS never go for the pro's that aggressively attack you before you get a look around. Usually that pro (chica) knows she's at a disadvantage and grabs the newbie guy coming into the club/bar/resort etc. ALWAYS WAVE HER OFF AND seek out the shy fine-ass girl in the corner (who usually doesn't speak good English and is a newcomer). Just got back to sex prison, so give me a few days to piece my notes together to post about my experience at BB's.

But here is a quick summary until then:

I will go on record now and say that I have nothing but good things to say about BB's. There is something for everyone there. So much that I ended up lining chicas up days beforehand just to make sure I got around to everyone I wanted.

We also developed a perfect strategy: day-time action at BB's, take-out from Classico's in Sousua both Friday and Saturday for TLN. Word of advice: get a cell phone while there! There were so many choices at Classico's that I really wished I had one, but will not make the same mistake next time.

Learn In Your Car Spanish is excellent and only about $30 for 9 CDs, which is more than you would need. Learn while driving, exercising, or do it while cooking, dressing, or whatever you do at home

In Santo Domingo I paid about 20 dollars to activate the Samsung.

Bed bug bites are initially painless but turn into large itchy skin welts. South of the border the bed bugs are more widely known as “chinches”. A Colombian friend of mine told me once that if the bites follow along in a line then they are chinche bites.

Note - if you see a red spot in the middle of the bite then it is a flea bite, not a chinche bite. Flea as well as mosquitos also bite in random patterns.

Save your money on the creams… just rub dry soap into the bite. This works equally as well as any store bought remedy.

By the way… I remember my grandmother speaking of chinches (she was Mexican and was from northern mexico). I remember her saying that even the furniture has to be scrubbed down with hot soapy water if you want to have any chance of getting rid of them. Arrived at POP about 4ish. Was greeted by the taxi driver sent over by BB's who holds a sign advertising to the entire world that I am going to Blackbeards, lol. Immediately realize that I am in an entirely different country once I witness my driver doing 10-15 second intervals on the opposite side of the road. That and almost running over a motorconcho carrying 3 school kids.

Bed bug bites are initially painless but turn into large itchy skin welts. South of the border the bed bugs are more widely known as “chinches”. A Colombian friend of mine told me once that if the bites follow along in a line then they are chinche bites.

Made my second mistake: waking up at BB’s at 6am, lol. There is absolutely nothing going on at that time. Woke up around 8 a.m. and sent Claribel from Classicos on her way. Had to get ready for Margie (see photo gallery) at 11 a.m. I set this up the night before and did not want to be late for my appointment with her.

I stopped in on my last trip and talked to Lino himself. It is still open.

The facilities looked great, although the rooms were a bit small (I got a tour of the joint while I was there). I saw a junior suite and a standard room. Fresh paint everywhere. I was there about 2pm last monday and there was not another soul in the place. Looked like a ghost town. Lino told me he had upped the rate for all inclusive to over $190 USD. I told him the website still said $179. He didn't seem to care.

First off I want to send a big shout out and thank you to the craziest man on the planet: DeepmMpactt aka Old Jedi aka E.C.N aka Mr "I can make you famous". Having him along with me on this trip (my 2nd ever to the DR) is something I will never forget, we had a great time.

After much traveling from the west coast (Oregon and Washington) respectively, we met up in Miami only to have our flight delayed two hours because something was wrong with the plane. Unfortunately we were not told anything was wrong with the plane until everyone had boarded and the flight was about to take off. After all of the drama we finally land in POP where we were greeted with rain. We got our bags and out the door we went. I must admit I was a little worried after reading the stories about POP airport guys trying to shake down people, but we breezed through line and was out the door. Our original plan was to stay at the MRR (I know how most of you feel about the place so please spare me the monger quarterbacking) for 3 days but to only do AI one day. As mentioned the prices have gone up but because of DeepmMpactt "gift of the gab" he talked Nancy down to the original rate. We stayed in the apartment and it was nice, everything functioned (at least until the last night where the cable was disconnected).
The first night we go to Cristals and it was a good size crowd, with some new faces and some similar ones. I advise anybody that is considering Total Satisfaction to re-consider.

They have very poor customer service to book your trip. While you get everything they say and what you expect, it will be like pulling teeth to make a reservation. E-mail inquires often go un-answered and once you make your deposit, it's like they don't know you anymore until a few days or so before your trip.

Their fourm is very biased as they will edit ANYTHING that contradicts them. The moderators are more like dictators and when you are at the resort with them, they act and think that they are celebraties.

After reading this you may think I have some kind of vendetta against Total Satisfaction but the fact is that there are now so many other places to choose from in the DR, that the TRUTH needs to come out.

The only info I have is more secondhand as I only caught the tail-end of the conversation with my wingman and Lino.Apparently Lino was saying that MRR under the new ownership will have a "mix" of talent: Dominican girls and Russian girls. Viking has mostly Russians with a few ladies from Brazil and fill in with a few locals when needed. Very good food, premium liquor, and definitely high end feel. About 10 to 12 girls and they are yours 22 hours a day.

Oxygen has mostly local girls and they are a cut above what you will find at other places in the area. I would say that they have the largest selection of any of the AI's, somewhere around 15-25 girls. The food is fair to good, booze is ok and girls are pretty fresh looking. Not nearly as hgh-end as Viking or Charlis. The girls can't go off the premises during their stay there and it appeared that the girls stay between a week and two weeks at a time. You are not going to find these girls on their day off if you are a visitor to DR. If you go back and read reports you will hardly ever find a report form a visitor that they did well in Puerta Plata with locals.Oxygen's real thing is more quantity and you have your pick of 3 or so girls a day.

Charlis has Russian girls and it is smaller and more intimate than Vikings. I haven't stayed but have talked to a friend who has and he liked it more than Viking because of the intimacy of the place due to its smaller size. Food and drink very good and ladies treat you great. I personally think that Viking usally has better looking girls but at the same time it is more commercial.

DR nights I don't know about. I've never read a report from anyone who has stayed there. It sounds like you stay at a fairly nice place and you have the lady for an hour or so a night. I would think that there is more risk of disappointment here than at the other three which are sure things.

I don't know what you mean about "locals." Do you mean the "non-pros" of Puerto Plata? The chick I banged from Classico's my last night in DR lived in Puerto Plata (and had the nerve to complain about not wanting to take a motorconcho from BB's to her home, which was right up the street). I just thought I would thow a few things out there from my last trip down to the DR. I have been back now for over a week and things are starting to settle in for me. I spent a total of 5 days down there, 2 at BBs and 3 with the novia. All totalled it was a great vacation, although next time down I may split things up a bit different with 3 days to play and 2 with the novia. I want my cake and to eat it too. Oh well, who can blame me?

There are some changes at BBs that I really think stem mostly from the changes in the economy. BBs has enjoyed record occupancy for quite a while now, but they are having more vacancies now. I think management there is implimenting some rules to push hotel guests to BBs from other local establishments, as well as get a few more pesos from the chicas and ensure a supply of chicas during a slow time. Some of the changes will be welcome to the BBs punter, but I do feel for the chicas.

First, Charo and Jennifer are gone and Paola and Luchy are taking their place. I don't think the regular BBs punter will notice any difference in this. I will miss Charo myself, I liked her and the chicas are all saying now that they miss her, as the new "mamma-sons" are a lot stricter and implimenting the new rules.

Starting this month there is a salida for any chica leaving confines of BBs to hook up with someone not staying at BBs. It is 800 pesos and paid for by the chica to management. The girls are worried this will cut into their business. It probably will.

This is currently much more of a job for the chicas than before. There is now a set schedule for the chicas, on a calendar, for day shift or night shift including all holidays (Christmas, New Year). I think the day shift starts at 10am and definitely ends at 6pm (you should see the exodus of girls leaving at 6, it is a sight to behold). The night shift starts at 6pm and ends at midnight. Although I feel for the girls on this, I must say that there was a much better selection of girls in the afternoon on the days I was there, and a full selection in the evening. The girls still incur daily expenses (make-up, clothing, salon, etc.) to entice the client, but there is more competition because there are always more chicas on site, and there will probably be a weeding out process of the less popular girls. The management also hopes this provides for more new blood to replace them. If the chica wants the day off and she is scheduled, she now pays management 1000 pesos per day to keep her job.

Onto other areas, I ran into something that should be a learning opportunity for all. On my second evening I saw one chica I had been with only once for ST about a year ago, and was on my "To Do Again" list. Her name is Maria Marcelena. She is a little spinner, not a real stunner (most would rate her a 7 or so in looks), but a great performer for me in the past. When I picked her out for TLN we talked over dinner. She started telling me everything we did on our first meeting, in fine detail (I almost forgot some of this stuff til she talked about it), with sincerity and zeal. This blew me away. All I know is that John busts his ass to make it right, and if it doesn't work, or somehow punishes his loyal crowd, he'll fix it quick.

That is the only reason I agree with charging outsiders the 800 DOP salida fee. It's probably something they should've implemented long time ago.

It sounds like the fixed pricing structure stays the same. The only reported difference is the outsiders fees for taking the girls on salida so the booked BB patron is not paying anything above what he did before. Only the outside monger is paying more.

So imagine the girl getting the salida is on schedule for 4 days straight. First night she pays the salida, second night she has to show up for work again or pay the 1000 fine to keep her job. The outsiders now have to come back to BB and pay another 800 salida the next day for the same or different girl. The whole process makes it a compounded day by day pain in the ass for the outsiders. I think it is a good idea although I don’t think BB will make enough money off it to supplement the sagging economy.

So the salida stuff is good for the patrons, will make a few bucks for the establishment, and discourage outsiders from raiding the place of all the best talent.

p.s.: do yourself a favor and avoid going to sosua during your visit, for you will become highly pissed off once you find out that i, as well as other mongerers on this board, can snatch up one of those same chicas from the "all inclusives" on her day off for a helluva lot less at places like classico's and latinos.

what the experienced guys forget is that not everyone is as knowledgeable as they are about how the scene works. an all-inclusive provides peace-of-mind to a guy who would rather not worry about things like getting picked up at the airport, finding a chica-friendly hotel, hunting for women at the clubs, and negotiating prices.

unfortunately on this night i would be the only one to have a great night as my wingman did not have such luck... she did not perform her agreed upon duties, so the session ended and she wanted a propina.... i get this knock on my door. i open the door ever so slightly, and stand off to the side and low and behold it is the stunner and she had the most evil/angry/if looks could kill expression on her face. her arms were crossed and then she proceeded to rapidly ramble on in spanish. my spanish is decent so i understood what most of what she saying... by this point dmp has grown visibly frustrated with her and told her to leave and then he closed/slammed the door. the three of us go outside the apartment. i am telling the stunner that she is not getting a propina in a thousand different ways because (whatever she agreed to with him) she did not deliver on those things so it was not my place to force my buddy to give her a propina when she did not deserve one. after not getting through to the stunner i had to get the night security guy to talk to her and inform her of what the situation was.a guy who didn't speak spanish, who didn't want to fight with a girl, who didn't know the rules or laws might have had a real hard time here. i've heard tales of women calling the police when they thought they were cheated (not necessarily in the dr). so al's buddy picked up a girl and she didn't do what was agreed on. maybe she didn't understand his request, or maybe he was unclear, or maybe she changed her mind. but whatever it was, he was pretty much out a night's fun. maybe he had a "good enough" time, i don't know.
i will admit that i was initially a little disappointed as i had read on here about the "parade" of women that strolled in the ng. our first day there, there were not many women who came in. a few (plain jane's) peeked their heads in and then left as there were not many guys hanging around the pool or bar. the first day we went out and hit the usual spots (latinos bar, club x, etc) and while there were some good looking chics around i could not find anything that tickled my fancy so rather than just getting someone just because, i went back to the room with nothing that night.i realize that al says it was his choice not to take anyone home that night. but for a lot of guys it is a concern. "if i only have 4 nights, what happens if i go out and can't find anyone i like?" there's a whole day shot. i don't know about sosua, but in many places the working girls don't come out until late. what if i don't want to go hang out at some noisy disco or bar at 10 pm to try to negotiate with a girl in my non-existent spanish to get her to come back to my room before midnight? like i said, i don't know sosua, but i can tell you a great story about riding in a taxi all around san jose, costa rica looking for a girl at 8pm.
it's happened to me as i'm slow to simmer on what i pick for the evening and ended up with my dick in hand later one evening. i don't mean to pick on bobsthrobbinknob or mandingo al, but these reports were on the first page and it was easy to grab some examples.

an all inclusive gives an inexperienced or nervous guy some reassurances:

everything is taken care of -- all transportation, food, drinks. if you are a big consumer, you might even make it worthwhile. how much would it cost for two short times plus a tln plus all meals for you and your girls plus all the alcohol you can drink plus transportation plus a luxury room at a hotel?
you are in the company of other guys who are there for the same reason you are. no chance of getting a hotel full of holiday travelers. want to have sex in the pool at 2am? cool. ever had a blowjob contest in the hot tub? not at a regular hotel.
there is always someone there to help you with spanish if you need it. they can hold your hand with anything that might make you nervous -- changing money, arranging an excursion, renting a sailboat for the day.
the girls are there 24 hours. if you wake up at 9am and want a blowjob, you are set.
i'm not saying that an all-inclusive is the best choice for everyone. different resorts have different policies on changing girls, but in any case the variety will be less than if you have all of sosua to choose from. some guys actually like "the hunt" for the girls. other guys just want to be alone and not worry about other guests or nightly parties. if you don't drink and only really want to have a girl for a couple of hours each day, an all-inclusive makes little economic sense. and yes, they are expensive. but for a guy who gets one shot a year at five nights of fun, it may be worth it not to worry about striking out, getting into arguments with a girl, or any of the other hundreds of things that can go wrong on a monger vacation.

I see comments like this all the time on this and other boards, and I totally understand the sentiment. Who wants to pay $400, $500, even $1000 a day for what an experienced guy can get for $200?

What the experienced guys forget is that not everyone is as knowledgeable as they are about how the scene works. An all-inclusive provides peace-of-mind to a guy who would rather not worry about things like getting picked up at the airport, finding a chica-friendly hotel, hunting for women at the clubs, and negotiating prices.


I must admit that I am in no way "experienced." I've only been to DR once, and it was a stay at BB's. That's about as spoon fed you can get!

I learned everything I needed to know from reading the post on this board, asking questions, and PM'ing other members. From this I was able to hit the ground running and navigate the terrain with limited Spanish speaking skills.

Now I must also admit that I was one of those mongers who argued vehemently about rather having everything "in place" for me rather than "hunting." Some of you may even remember my postings about this particular argument. But after visiting Sosua, namely Classico's, I am all about the hunt!

I guess I just like the idea of knowing that If I don't too much care for the talent at the resort, I can always go out in town and find exactly what I am looking for.

However for a guy who drinks a lot and fucks a lot, Blackbeard's can be as expensive as the all-inclusives. I've heard the tales of guys who ran up their bar tab into the hundreds of dollars just buying drinks for girls one night. There was even a warning about some of the girls who bought drinks for their friends on their date's tab. Add in three meals a day for you and your girls, plus transportation to the casino, the discos, the airport, and you can tally up quite the bill. Not to mention the cost of your fun in the bedroom. Oh, and the jacuzzi fee (!).

At Oxygen, I believe their rate includes four "encounters" per day, with up to four different ladies. Or you can have two ladies, plus a TLN with a third. At My Wild Vacation you only get one companion, but she is with you for 24 hours -- how many times you do it is up to you and her.

People that I've met at AI's aren't looking down on anyone, at least I can definitely say that for myself. Maybe we have a few extra bucks and like a worry free, spoon fed experience but that doesn't mean that I/We look down on anyone. I have spent about a totaling of 2 months in Sosua across 4 different vacations. This was after doing O2 and BB and looking over the girls working at those places. Not once have I seen any of the AI girls moonlighting on the Sosua scene. The closest I came was seeing one of the O2 girls in a van while a driver filled his gas tank. (We grinned at each other before she was whisked off)

I am sure you "could" get an AI girl moonlighting for a much lower price. But the thing is:

1) You would never know she was an AI girl because you would never pay to see which girls work there in the first place.

I have been to both Vikings and Oxygen and been to BB's three times and BB's is significantly less expensive. On the extreme end of the spectrum, I did the Xoticbeachhouse in Cartagena, CO. And spent five times what a trip of same length to BB's would cost, different country and dominicanas can't even begin to compare to colombianas but the cost difference is ridiculous. Bang for the buck whether you go to BB's or go to Sosua and "hunt" on your own it will cost much less than any AI in the DR.

Well, my two cents.

You have four nights in DR.

Instead of jumping from literally "one-night stands" in 3-4 places, pick one and thoroughly get to know the place, explore the local area, and relax.
You can't get to know anyplace in one night.

Blackbeards is a good choice for a first time. Lots more control in terms of the girls, etc. In Sosua you're on your own, and lacking much experience or Spanish, you have to be careful.

If you like, take a cab from BB in Costambar to Mustang Ranch (about 15 min. & 20 bucks) and check it out for next time. Cristal's the bar/brothel is in Puerto Plata and you could check that out one evening the same way.

Maybe try a week in Sosua on your next trip, when you have a means of comparing girls, service, prices, etc.

And remember, in Sosua, you're on your own, so read-up and learn about the pitfalls in advance.

Good luck.I agree. I went to DR for the first time in this November, despite recommendation that I should try BB as a newbie, I went to SOSUA and stayed my week there. You should try to relax and get to know the place, the girls will throw themselves at your eventually just from seeing you a few times. You can walk around the main strip, relax at the beach, get a massage, and at night just go to the disco's or to the bar.

Not sure what BB's is like but I'll check it out next time. I saw a girl on the BB newsletter that caught my eye, I'll add her to the list I'm already making of the girls there that I've seen. You can find quality girls in sosua, granted there will always be girls who don't strike your interest but there is definitely something for everyone there.

You are not the first person to say this, but I really don't understand it. From BBs you can walk hundreds of yards along the beach, and there are a few bars and restaurants close by. You can also walk to the small shopping plaza where there is a grocery, internet cafe, a pharmacy, and a few other small stores too.

The area around BB is very pleasant for walking.There are many beautiful flowering trees and hedges, winding lanes, breezes off the ocean, the ocean, the beach.

It is a very pleasant, relaxed setting--much more so than Sosua, which has nothing of particular interest other than souvenir shops, bars, and restaurants, plus a couple of discos and a casino (now two casinos, I think).

And you are only 10 mins by motoconcho from the center of Puerto Plata.

I read about this "isolation" of BB several years ago before I made my first visit to BB and the DR, and I imagined that it was stuck in the middle of nowhere, but it isn't at all.

I just returned home the other day from Blackbeard's visit number 6, dating back to one year ago. This was my longest stay, 9 nights. Nine might have been overdoing it for me, but somehow I managed to get through it.

I have always had a great and memorable time at Blackbeard's, and this visit was no exception. The problems I have encountered there have been few and far between, and hardly worth mentioning.

In a nutshell.- I LOVE THIS PLACE!

In my one year of experience of visiting BB's, there have been some changes, some subtle, and some not so subtle. I guess the biggest change is the departure of Charo and Jennifer, and the arrival of Paola and Luche, to supervise the girls. Like many other members of this board, I held Charo in the highest of esteem. Great person, who did an amazing job in what is pretty much an impossible situation, managing these girls.

I am sorry to say that the replacements, Paola and Luche, in my opinion, do not appear to be anywhere near being in a league with Charo. First of all, they speak little or no English whatsoever. I do speak some reasonable, awkward Spanish, and I can make myself understood. But understanding others speaking Spanish to me is a whole different ball game. I explained this to the ladies on several occasions and pleaded with them to speak very slowly to me. They were basically oblivious this request. In fact "oblivious" would seem to be an accurate description of their overall personas.

Not only that, they both have curt, impatient attitudes. I am as polite and respectful as any guy who visits that hotel, and rarely confront anyone (and even then do so with courtesy).- but these two really mistreated me. One afternoon, they were seated in the patio area, doing there paperwork. I approached and asked for permission to sit down. Permission granted. Paula indicated to give them two minutes. No problem.

Thirty (30) minutes later, I am still sitting there like an idiot, waiting for them to acknowledge me and ask me what I need. Isn't this part of their job? At the 30 minute mark, I asked if this was a bad time to talk, and was again told two minutes. After a total of 45 minutes, Paola finally talked to me. This is not the excellent customer service I have become accustomed to at Blackbeard's!

I wanted to ask them to phone a particular girl (let's call her Moca) to confirm my date with her for that evening. I had set this up with the girl 4 days earlier, knowing that she was then taking 3 days off to spend with her family over Christmas. I had spent time with this particular girl on previous trips, and had found her to be extremely dependable, but still I wanted to call and confirm.

Paola looked through her paperwork and informed me that Moca would not be working tonight, she was "infirma. " Paola explained to me that this meant she was having her period and would not be able to work. I told Paola that I thought this might be incorrect because I had just recently spoken to Moca, and I was confident that we were on. This went back and forth for 5-10 minutes. All I wanted was for her to make a damn phone call for me, and she insisted that tonight there would be no Moca.

The facial expressions, rolling eyes, and body language, and attitude of "whatever" being used by this woman were very unprofessional and downright rude. I was very put off, but I persisted and finally she relented and made the phone call. The phone was turned off, she said. She reiterated that Moca would not be here tonight. Ten minutes later, Moca walked through the door, dressed beautifully, ready for the evening with me. We had a nice dinner together at an off campus restaurant with another couple, and a wonderful night and morning together. Infirma my ass!

Damned if the next day and evening I didn't go through the same scenario again. Another girl, lets call her Franca, with whom I had spent the first couple of nights, was also due back from a Christmas visit to see her family. Same nonsense. Infirma. Won't be here. More attitude when I asked for their help. They obviously just wanted me to accept their declaration that the girl was sick and would not be here tonight, and leave them alone. It was like I was wasting their valuable time by requesting assistance to confirm an appointment with one of the girls. I have been under the impression that this is an important part of their job description.- assisting guests in arranging a successful pairing with a companion. Finally the call was made, and Franca's phone was off.

After the bikini contest, as the hour grew later and I had not heard from Franca, I again asked Paola to try the call for me. Ten minutes, she said. "NO! " I told her. I do not want to wait ten minutes. Yesterday you told me two minutes and you made me wait 45 minutes. She denied that, she said that was not true! What? I was there, and I did have to wait 45 minutes for her attention. I told her that if she did not want to do her job and help me that I would find someone else! I told her that I thought she had a bad attitude.

Well, she had something to say back to me, but I didn't understand it, because it was delivered in rapido Espanol. But it was accompanied by head wagging and finger waving, and I am pretty sure it was not a dinner invitation. This is one rude woman. I am not making this up.

I had personally observed two other veteran guests air their concerns to John concerning these two ladies. John was very fired up, and pledged that there would be changes to this situation very soon. At this point, I also spoke to John, telling him how much I love this place, but that these two are poor representatives of the great hotel he has put together here. I think he appreciated my input, and he personally tried to help me unscramble the mystery of Franca being infirma or not.

Well, Franca did not show up until the next morning, but it was not because she was infirma. She was very apologetic. Her bus from the other side of the island had gotten in well behind schedule, she had rushed over to the hotel looking for me and was told I was out for dinner. She then walked over to Solo Meo (which she knows I frequent) to look for me, but I was actually at another off-campus eatery. I thought it was quite sweet of Franca to go to the trouble of trying to locate me. Certainly a display of customer service far superior to that which I had received from her supervisors. Her story was confirmed by a couple of hotel staff that I asked. Once again, Paola and Luche had given me incorrect information (and delivered it rudely). Infirma my ass!

But the point is that she was not infirma at all, but Paola and Luche did not want to hear it. It was like I was being looked down upon because I had the nerve to question the information they had written down in their notebook regarding girls' work schedules. If it was written down in their book, it had to be correct! What a bunch of crap.

In fairness to these ladies.- they have been on the job only a short time and it would be unrealistic and unfair to expect them to measure up to Charo, because Charo is, well, Charo. But You would hope that they would at least bring to the job an air of cordiality and customer service. I am sure that John will have this situation sorted out very soon.

Anyway, aside from those brief aggravations, I had a great time, and I can't wait to go back in April. Blackbeard's may have changed some, but it is still Blackbeard's. John still has time to talk to guests and make sure that everything is being done correctly. It is evident that John loves the place, and wants everything to be perfect.

Perfect it isn't.- but it is close enough to perfection for me! Paco, Jose and Martha in the office are an absolute pleasure, and are always interested if everything is okay. The restaurant and bar staff are a delight, I wish I knew all of their names, because they are all fun and wonderful. Carolina, Monica, and the beautiful Bonasa come to mind. The housekeeping staff (thanks, Santa) is tops. The new chefs seem to be doing just fine. It may seem like a silly comment, but the salads are greatly improved. I like salad. The new salads are larger and more varied. The several meals I had at the hotel, all different chicken dishes, were all very good. The special Christmas night meal.- roast chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, pumpkin pie.- quite delectable indeed!

The girls did not seem to be out in quite the usual numbers, but the numbers were more than adequate for me. I am rather particular in seeking and selecting girls at BB's, and unfortunately for me, what I look for seems to becoming more and more scarce. I like thin, fit girls with a small tight butt, small to medium boobs, pretty face. There were 3-4 girls on hand that more or less met these specifications, so I was well taken care of and had a great time. Nevertheless, it concerns me that the trend of the roster seems to be moving away from my preferences. So many of the girls possess either a large butt, or too-big boobs, or extra pounds around the middle, or all of the above. I wish we could add some more slender pretty girls to the roster. Maybe that is a reflection of who their supervisors are. The two new supervisors do not appear to have missed too many meals lately.

Again, I want to stress that I truly enjoyed my visit. It is always great to see old friends such as Hilda, Mary, Josie, Isabella, Carolina, Andy, Leticia, Jary, Sonia, and others, and to strike up acquaintances with some of the newer girls like Luce-Maria, Madeline, Anais, and Elizabeth. Some of the prominent missing faces included Cristal, Yojanny, Joca, Kilsea, Miel, Joanna, Wendy, and of course Sirenita (suspended yet again! ).

As always I took tons of great photos of the girls, and they love the 8 x 10 enlargements I bring for them on every trip. This trip included a one hour visit to the beach for a bikini photo-shoot with two of my favorites. The results were spectacular! So for now, I will stare at my photos on the computer and look forward to another adventure in April.

I just walked away shaking my head, thinking wow what a jack ass. Thanks guys for listening. I was really bothered by these conversations. I will never treat anyone like that ever. It's Latin Culture

A Latino/a given a management position typically believes they have undisputable power. They believe themselves to be immuned to harm and it is unheard of for them to be second questioned in the esteemed position they believe they hold.

Granted, their business is based in Latin America, but their clients are principally North Americans. So if BB would like to maintain the strength of their American customers they would be better off training their two new managers to adopt an American Service and Support mindset.

Much harder for these managers to get trained in is conversing in the english language. This is going to be huge and nothing good can come of this for their ENTIRE customer base. That is, even the europeans are fluent in english and expect that language to be spoken as a baseline. Sorry to say BB is in trouble here.

In my one year of experience of visiting BB's, there have been some changes, some subtle, and some not so subtle. I guess the biggest change is the departure of Charo and Jennifer, and the arrival of Paola and Luche, to supervise the girls. Like many other members of this board, I held Charo in the highest of esteem. Great person, who did an amazing job in what is pretty much an impossible situation, managing these girls.

I am sorry to say that the replacements, Paola and Luche, in my opinion, do not appear to be anywhere near being in a league with Charo. First of all, they speak little or no English whatsoever.

I fear that I have given you the wrong impression. I was not pleased with the customer service of the "hostesses", but I assure you I got my money's worth in my 9 night stay at the resort. There are other ways to achieve your needs at BB's. A couple of the girls allowed me to use their phones to try to contact the missing parties. Even John personally tried to help sort out the paperwork which was causing confusion. I am certain that if I asked Jose to help me in this regard, he would have cheerfully done it. Jose's motto is "nothing is impossible. "

I spent nine glorious nights with 4 different girls, and I was in no way short-changed. I had a fantastic time. I can't wait to go back. Blackbeard's is still Blackbeard's!

There is a unique mentality that goes along with a position of power or responsibility as native Latinos are concerned. You really have to experience it directly. Their attitudes change... it is cultural.

Here is a tactic I used pretty much by accident while there:

I was looking to see if Margie was going to still show up for our 10am. She didn't show for that time, so I asked the weekend guy who was there at the front desk if he had a way of contacting her. He in turn asked Josie to call for me.

Josie called, but Margie's phone was off. BUT Josie kept calling until she got a hold of Margie and we set up our romp for 2pm.

I was impressed at the fact that Josie continued to try to contact Margie even though she clearly didn't have to, and even though I did not want to session with her (she hinted at wanting to do a threesome once Margie arrived, to which I replied "solo," meaning that I only wanted Margie).

My suggestion is try to pay attention to which girls hang with one another around BB's. That way if you are looking for one of their amigas they are more than likely to know how to get in contact with her if you are looking for her, or will know what's going on with her (enferma, out of town, etc.). Probably more so than the Madam's do.

Do other resorts or hotels charge a surcharge for using a credit card. I doubt any of the hotels or resorts wouls stay in business if they did this. Gentlemen, I have also been to BBs more times than I really care to admit (7 or so times within about 2 years now) and...

.....Another tip is to pay your hotel bill with US dollars as you arrive and pay your bar/restaurant tab in pesos when you leave. This is because your hotel bill is calculated based on US dollars and the other bill is based on pesos and converted at an unfavorable rate to US dollars. Cash is king and do not use your credit card unless you have to.......

It is my understanding that this practice is not allowed by the credit card companies. Last I checked, if you charged an additional fee for the use of the credit card, your merchant privileges will be revoked. I know it is widespread in the DR but that doesn't make it right. All merchants here in the US also pay a fee to process credit cards but do raise your bill to cover the costs. However, any intelligent merchant will simply charge the higher amount but provide a discount for cash. This practice does not violate any agreement with the credit card companies.

Sorry I haven't received the BB's confirmation yet, though having been the the DR several times my intent was not to use the credit card anyway unless it was practical. First timer at BB's and therefore had to confirm by sending the card number I'm happy that has been cleared up. Cash sales allow for the owner to "forget" to report these earnings to be taxed. More money in their pockets. With all the corruption in the DR this is considered a normal course of business.

Though equally repugnant you can pay off your account in full each month and no interest charges are applied. Like many other newbies, I wish I had discovered ISF before! I had explored strip clubs and escort services in the US, and also checked out the window scene in Amsterdam once, but wanted to try something different, and saw an ad for the Oxygen resort, so I gave it a shot. Before recounting the details, I’ll say overall that it was a great time, with stunning girls available, relaxed and up for partying 24/7, and a comfortable facility with good and sometimes great food. On the other hand, the price is high, and there isn’t much of a party atmosphere, especially when there only a handful of clients. Clearly, given what I have read, it is not a value for your dollar (roughly $1,000 per night), although that wasn’t really an issue for me. Sorry for the somewhat outdated report but as I said, I didn’t discovered ISF until recently.

I arrived at POP and was greeted by the driver sent by O2 (transport to/from is included in the price), with whom I chatted about the DR (my first visit) and who drove the 30 minutes or so past Sosua and through Caberete to the former Isla Verde hotel, now the resort in question. It was a bit disappointing to see that it is not on or near the beach, and the girls are not allowed to leave the compound, even to go into Caberete. I was told the local beach was nice but required walking through a dodgy neighborhood; I didn’t check it out.

I learned on arrival that I was the only client that day, although a second guy was showing up later. There were 5 to 7 girls around as best I recall, ranging in looks from 6 to 9, and one might even get a 10. All were Dominican, some from the area and some from Santiago or SD. Mike, one of the owners, and really decent guy, explained the system – no cash, just coupons in various denominations like monopoly money, with the 200s (I didn’t find out the actual amounts the girls get) for todo la noche, 100s for 2 hour morning or afternoon sessions, 10s for big tips and 1s for little tips. I’m making up and rounding off coupon amounts, judging roughly from the price to get extras. You also get drink coupons to buy drinks for chicas and you can purchase coupons to buy them dinner, at about $25 a pop. The chef is great, I recommend the stuffed lobster, spring rolls and his Caesar salad, a classic in the genre.

In a three-day stay I only ended up spending my (high value) coupons with four different girls. A couple of them kind of grew on me and got some repeat business, although I didn’t latch on to one in particular. Being new to the hobby, I was also very easy to persuade, and hadn’t learned to get picky yet! Because the outdoor hot tub was out of commission I got a free upgrade to a Jacuzzi room, which was about equal to a 4-star hotel room in the US. After showering I ventured out to the outdoor bar, which is where the girls seems to spend a lot of time, apart from the on-premises salon. The restaurant is also popular, with adjacent projection-screen movie viewing area with sofas, pool table, and stage for the strip shows. My Spanish is passable so it wasn’t too hard relax and chat up the chicas.

Ellie, a cute little spinner, was a blast, and was game for dancing to just about anything; bachata, salsa, hip-hop, whatever. She talked me into taking her and a friend (sorry forgot friend’s name) together for my first foray. Both were just what I had in mind, lots of DFK, some DATY until friend came, then on to BBBJ both taking turns, then slipped on the sleeve and had them both get on all fours on the bed so I could alternate between them, and it went on from there. Very accommodating, although, like the others I picked later, not willing to do CIM. They have talked about getting Brazilians and other non-Dominicans but it hadn’t happened as of my visit. I concur with other reviewers that the staff are all friendly and very accommodating. The pluses were the quality of food, accommodation, and girls (at least as to looks) and the ability relax and hang with chicas without worrying about time. It was cool to just play some pool, buy them some drinks, get dinner, pick one out for a quickie, or an overnight, and dance at the bar. Downside: price obviously, not being near a beach, not having a real party scene with lots of people, being more or less stuck outside of town (although they will gladly arrange taxis to any destination, and I could have spent and evening or two in Caberete or Sosua, had I known!) Now that I see there are many more interesting options I doubt I’ll return soon, but if money is not a concern, you want nice digs and to have someone else round up the chicas for you, (someone with high standards) it’s awesome.

I’m hoping to check out Blackbeard’s and/or Sosua on an upcoming trip in March, and look forward to meeting some fellow mongerers.

I bought some Scotch, Scotch Whiskey, and some Whiskey, and none were any good and the brand names were hugely expensive. The cheap stuff either gave me headaches, or I just got really sleepy and passed out.

On another note, several of my mongering buddies have discovered that we, and many of the chicas, get headaches after drinking Presidente. (no Viagara or Cialis effect), but once we started drinking Bohemia the headaches did not surface. After that we found that there were bubbles, not foam, in the bottles. I usualy buy Scotch at Duty Free on the way to POP but i remember the Pakage store in Sosua carried Sctoch .

TKI don't know blackbeards or jenny's, but usually the more you exchange at one time, the better rate you can usually get. The rates change day to day, I have seen the rates go down on the weekends, I have not studied the exchange rates on a daily basis, just from my past trips to Sosua, I usually got a better rate earlier in the week. I would imagine most places would exchange as much as you want, assuming they have enough pesos on hand.

To awnser your question , Yes your T-Mobile phone will work in Dr. but it is extremely expensive . What i recommend to you is once you get to Dr. go in a local cell phone store and buy a local cell phone . It will cost you less than 40$ and you will have a local number that you can used to call your whife when you see she is calling on your T Mobile caller id (so dont awnser your phone) and also you can use this Dominicain phone to contact your new girlfriends you will make on your trip , and share your dominicain number with the ladies . They will not call you , they will text message you and if one calls she will ask you to call her back .

As for the cost per minute for a cell dominicain cell phone if i remember correctly 100 pesos gives 8 minutes . I usualy get a 100 pesos card per day .

Roaming charges : My local cell phone carrier charges me 3.50$ canadian per minute in Dr. I used it a little bit on my forst trip , never again !

Yes this is an other option but this way you cant see who is calling you on your US number at all times aswell as get your Text messages .

I stayed at apart/hotel Barlovento in Costambar a few years back. It was a decent place with pool and restaurant/bar but not cheap at 60 US/day. It was walking distance to BB's and pretty close to the beach too and a little store for supplies on the way to beach. Jenny's was walking distance but I always took a motoconcho as I had a regular guy driving me around.

Loace is chica friendly but be discreet. The guys that run it are great guys. There is a rooftop bar, ideal for partying. Karen runs the bar and is a great cook. Meals are not expensive. Be aware that BB now charge salida (at the request of the clients, I understand) so take that into account if that's part of one's plan. Also it is a bit off the beach (within walking distance) but a hire car would be an advantage.

L'oase is "low profile" chica friendly. So long as you don't make it obvious you are punting there to the other guests, you will not have any problems. I have seen the owner there drive a guest to BBs to pick out a chica and then bring the guest and chica back in his SUV. He just doesn't want his place to be another BBs. The owner knows I go to BBs and we talk about it openly.

The place is very laid back and you don't have much going on there. You do not have party central with chica's sitting around in the common area. Power is more hopscotch than BBs as they have no back up generator, but rather a large inverter that drains quickly during a long blackout.

The rooms are pretty much on par with BBs, maybe a hair below, but clean and comfortable. If you talk to the owner when you make your reservations, you can get a better price than shown on the internet and less than BBs for a comparable room. Internet is available in the common area and they have large lockboxes for your computer but you have to bring your own padlock.

They have a restaurant, but that is hopscotch too. The lady who runs it is an EXCELLENT cook. She is not always there, so you almost always have to make a request beforehand to eat there. The restaurant is also VERY reasonable.

Each time I have been there, there have been almost no guests besides me and the novia. This was great for me because it can be very romantic for me and my chica and feel like our "own little hideaway". It is on the far side of Costambar and about a 15 to 20 minute walk from Jenny's. Like anything in the DR, it has its plusses and minusses. For what I go there for, I like the place.

I have also a ball and chain but found BB's and the DR about 3-4 years ago and now manage to come 2-4 times per year usually for 3-5 days each time diguised as a business trip. It helps that I really do travel a lot on business. Nothing in the US beats it for value or fun. I now speak pretty good Spanish learned via these trips. I talk, text and email with a few of the chica's at BB. Notably Elizabeth (baby), Yojanny, Wendy and Maria Isabel who are some of my favorites. There was clearly a lot of turmoil with the chicas after John took over managing them around early December and Charo was out. A number of the girls that have been there quite some time left but John I think wanted to bring in new blood. I have not been there since November so do not know for sure if this is a success. Everything on the menu and total girl/girl passion! I am looking forward to a repeat of that and maybe one with Yojanny and Ibel together as Traveller wrote about.

BB's charges $45. For the first person being picked up, it is $60. For more than one person. Make sure you get confirmation of this from them via e-mail and check your bill at the end of your stay because the last time I was there they charged both me and my wingman $45. They promptly fixed it and apologized for the "mistake".

I have been told by other mongers that you can negotiate a better deal directly with the taxistas at the airport but for the sake of a few bucks I always pay to have BB's arrange for pickup. Sure, $45. Is a ripoff for a twenty minute taxi ride but once I am there banging chicas for $45 I forget about the charge for the taxi.

Who has ever heard of a temporary tax. On our US phone bills, we are still paying for the Spanish American war. You can look it up. :)

No change in pricing. 1300 / 2400 short time and TLN respectively. Happy hour was 2400.

Jacuzzi. Never saw on the price sheet the 500 for jacuzzi time and was never charged additional as I always went from the jacuzzi right into ST or TLN. Maybe if ST or TLN wasn't pursued, it would come into play.

Many more chicas want CBJ and some took convincing not to. I talked to a couple of other guys there and it seems to be a new trend. Of course, I was a newbie to BBs so that may have had something to do with it.

I was picked up at the airport by a cab arranged by BBs and the fare was 1500 or $45 USD charged to the room. However, I swore I saw the desk pay the driver 1000. Also, about halfway from the airport to the hotel the driver started "mentioning" propina.

Currency exchange. Airport was paying a fraction over 31, BBs right at 33 and Jenny's a fraction over 35. Well worth the walk to exchange at Jenny's. On the return flight the sell rate was 36. 4 at the airport.

Two 50mm La Pela tablets and one 100mm Viagra tablet cost 150 at BBs. The pharmacy across from Jenny's charged 200 for four 50mm La Pela. I din't check on the pricing for Viagra though.

I stayed in the jacuzzi suite and overall didn't think it was worth the extra money. Nothing wrong with it, but since I always came in from the outside jacuzzi I rarely used it. Next time I'll opt for a more standard room.

Many of the chicas claim they are 23. 25 years old. With some you could have fooled me. And most had at least one or two kids. I only met one that said she didn't have any kids.

Food at BBs. Overall, pretty good, but the portions were on the smaller size which for me was fine.

20% credit card service charge. Alive and well.

Overall, a very good time and I plan to go back sometime in the near future.

When I was at bb's in November we took a trip out to the casino on my last night there. Man you could spot the girls in there from across the room they looked that good. Anyone know what the name of the brand new casino is there? Is it playa dorada? Also what are the rates for the girls in there. I saw in the newsletter about this "Miss Universe" contest, but I have never been to it. I am sure it is there to drum up business on the non-bikini contest weekends.

Dropped by the Ranch yesterday, not to stay but to drink a Presidente light and talk to the bartender a bit.

Was surprised to see the lamps stripped from the walls, the bar stools absent, the patio and lounge chairs missing. The place certainly had a vacant feel to it.

However, there was a receptionist and she did inform me the bar was open.

I asked the bartener what she was offering and she pointed to a scant offering of about ten drinks on the shelf. I asked if she had ice. Yes! The bar had only a few liquor offerings and presidente. I ordered the Presidente.

I started to chat with a British fellow who was sitting at one of three tables, when in walked Billy from the Harbour View Condos with three other dudes.

These guys were from the New York Long Island area and were three of the first five guests to be staying at the post Mustang Ranch Field of Dreams.

Billy informed me that the former owners had failed to make some crucial payments and therefore the hotel was currently returning to the Field of Dreams ownership and management.

New daily price is $1200 dominican pesos or about $35 US dollars a night.
