Two years ago was my first and only mongering trip to the Caribbean. I went to Curacao and had a great time. Dealing with the logistics was easy. I stayed at a legitimate dive resort and it was easy and cheap to call my SO in the states. The days were spent diving world class reefs and the evenings at the Campo. This year I thinking about trying the DR. I know the diving is only fair but the TLN concept appeals to me. Since I’ll be traveling alone and speak no Spanish a place like BB’s which spoon feeds it customers sounds like the way to go.

I have a couple of questions which hopefully someone can answer.

What is the cheapest and easiest way to call the states? I’ll have to check in with my SO on a daily bases. I’m also not sure how I will explain where I’ll be staying. Any suggestions on developing a alibi would be appreciated.

Anyone ever have stomach problems caused by the water, ice or food. I’m particular concerned about the ice. I like my booze on the rocks with a little water. Beer just does not make it for me.

The BB website lists diving as an activity but provides no info or a link. Can anyone recommend a dive shop and the easiest way to get to the shop/boat each morning?

If you get a local cell phone in the DR, a call to the US is the same price as a local call, which is kind of expensive. To conceal the number you are calling from you might want to open an account with a service like Tel3 by which you prepay for a certain amount of calls ($25). From the DR you then call a Tel3 access number in an area where you want to seem to be, and when the call goes through to her it won't show the DR number you are calling from.

Or you can buy calling cards in the DR and use them the same way from any phone. Or you can call quite cheaply from phone call centers (like Internet cafes only with phones.)

Of course, she can't call you back with any of these.

You can buy bottles of water, same as in the US. Don't drink tap water. The ice should be made from boiled water (gelo hervido), but make sure first. Also use the bottled water to brush your teeth.

I don't know what diving is available around Costambar. I think not much, but maybe I am wrong. Sosua has several dive shops. You can write to BB, and they may give you some information or e-mail addresses.

Tell you SO that you are diving, but omit all mention of muff. That should fool her.

The BB website lists diving as an activity but provides no info or a link. Can anyone recommend a dive shop and the easiest way to get to the shop/boat each morning?I have travelled with guys in your shoes. You can always say you are renting a condo or villa. You can even visit a condo or villa that are for rent near BB and take some photos. Most condos and villas don't have telephones. I know in Sosua they have call centers where guys call home. You are forced to use the call centers (the excuse) because the condo or villa does not have a telephone, and where you are staying you get no cellular service on your cell from the states. Doesn't matter what number appears from the call center, if your SO calls back I doubt anyone will answer at the call center. A call center is a business with maybe five or more telephones, usually each phone is in a small open booth. You choose a booth and make your calls, when you are finished, you pay for the call with the person who works there. Call centers are cheap in Dom Rep, maybe a few dollars for a 20 minute or more conversation with someone in the states.

I believe BB is in cabrera or someplace close to there. In Google do a search for condo or villa rentals in Puerto Plata. The search results will show you sites with at least 10 rental properties near where Blackbeards is located. You can always show your SO the search results, so she has an idea where she believes you will be staying. You will pay in cash, so that if your SO checks your bank statements, then you have an excuse for the condo or villa rental not appearing on your bank statement. You can always say that you are leary of using your credit card in Dom Rep.

I had a super jeaolous ex-novia here in New York, she would check everything.

I don't know blackbeards, but I would imagine they would have a call center close by. If not, I am sure a short taxi ride could get you to one. Your cell phone from the states may work there, but roaming is expensive and I doubt you want your SO to be calling you, when you might be busy. Or you can say that the service on your cellular is terrible and you only get service while standing far away from your condo or villa and you can say you are calling her from a location not close to the condo, I think its best if you use the call centers. You can always activate a Dominican cell phone and call with that and tell your SO, that the guy who rented you the villa or condo lets you use his cell everyday to make your call home. With that option you would have to keep a close eye on the cell and be careful when you answer the cell.

Take some immodium or pepto bismol (over the counter) with you. I have been to the Dom Rep close to 20 times. Had diarrea only a few times. I dont think you will have any problems with the ice. I have drunk/drank plenty of coca colas with ice. Mixed drinks with alcohol would probably kill anything.

I never drink the tap water and usually rinse my toothbrush and mouth with bottled water and listerine.

You can always do some touristy things near blackbeards, beach, go diving, visit the mountain with the Jesus statue (Mt. Isabela). Take photos at the touristy spots so that you can say that is how you passed your time.

One thing that always worries me a little, is that I am sure there are some clever women out there, who may read these boards.

I've made over 500 dives but none in the DR. If your lucky 40' to 50 ' vis and burned out reefs. Take your own regulator and mask, I heard there equipment is ancient. A taxi to and from Sosua,2 tank dive maybe 150.00 to 175.00.

I cannot speak for everyone else but while at BB's I used water from the sink to brush my teeth and the rum punches (like you I do not drink beer either) and orange juice with my breakfast always had ice in it. We also had buckets of ice with our rum and pineapple juice while at Classico's in Sosua.

None of us ever fell sick. Not even the chicas who drank with us...

I have been there multiple times and never had any problem with ice in the drinks or the water used for the different punches they have there. The first couple times I was at BBs I used the bottled water in the mini-fridge to brush my teeth, but I have used just tap water the last several times down with no problems.

I may be wrong, but I recall having a conversation with either David or Tim a while back and they told me all the water was treated throughout the hotel. I would not trust anyplace that does not look very substantial on ice and water outside the BBs compound. By this I mean those little restaurants and bars that "pop up" here and there and you definitely question their "health standards".

I had ice and water at Solo Mia's, Atlantic One and L'oase in Costambar, as well as Las Tres Coco's and felt comfortable with things. I have visited some "restaurants" on the beach and in Pueto Plata I would not touch anything to drink but what comes in a bottle (cervesa, coke, etc.).

I've never been to BBs, but have been to a hotel in Cabarete a couple of times. I used bag ice all the time, and brushed my teeth with bottled water.

On one of my trips the water from the tap turned brown and smelly one day, and didn't clear up for two more days. Of course I wasn't drinking it, but it wasn't pleasant to shower in.

The reason for the brown water was that there had been storms for a few days, which delayed the water trucks. Apparently the whole resort complex drew water from a cistern which needed to be filled every week or so by water trucks. When the trucks didn't arrive the pumps started to draw up the dirty sludge at the bottom of the cistern. A few days later the trucks arrived and the water was clear again, but it sure didn't make me want to drink from the tap. I know that the same thing would happen anywhere water came from a well or cistern that ran dry, but I couldn't get the idea of that brown water out of my head.

I would buy bottled water at Jenny's in Costambar.
Never had any trouble with the ice, etc., but I don't believe the tap water is suitable for drinking. Even when I've used it for brushing, I would rinse my mouth afterward with some bottled water.
It was a few years ago that one of the managers recommended avoiding the water. I don't believe the water supply has changed since.

I have gone diving while staying at BB's several times in the past. They use a dive operator in Cofresi which is run by a German couple so is pretty good standards. If you do that they pick you up at BB. Agree you should bring your own equipment however. The best diving is off Sosua which is only so so. A wreck called Zingara at 100ft is interesting but otherwise reefs are pretty burnt out. The dive boats suck as just outboards and hard to get in and out of. But diving not to far offshore.

I am surprised I am the only one speaking up here.

Everytime I go down there I get the "squirts" after about 7 days. I dont drink the water that I know about. That is, I brush my teeth with the tap water, I drink the restaurant water as a side beverage supposedly bottled and containing ice cubes made from "who knows what". Others I have been down there with have reported the same thing.

The condition clears itself up after returning to the states in about 2 days.

I go to the restaurants a never think about the icecubes. I used to think of it, but I have never had a problem. In el campo I always drank bottled beverages. I can see some hotels water is better than others, and by no means am I suggesting to drink tap water. What I say is be leery of food left out for a time. And follow a protocol as far as drinking something in general.

Many moons ago on my first trip I was sidelined with the "squirts". After my trip when I was leaving POP airport, there was a sign in English which read, "Do not ingest water, fruits or vegetables. Mind you, there was no sign as I entered the country and these days, there are no signs or warnings at all.

D. R. Tap water or crap water as I like to call it is bad, bad, bad for a gringo's tummy. Lots of third world bacteria and parasites. Fruits and vegetables are washed in tap water. Moi Mia restaurant in sosua is expensive because they import their greens from Florida.

The first spanish words I learned were "sin helo"(no ice/without ice). Ice or no ice doesn't matter when your drinks are watered down.

To protect your ASSets, go to GNC or local health food store and pick up Acidophiles. This is the natural healthy bacteria found in your bunghole. The refrigerated one is strongest without a prescription. Take them one week before your trip, during, and one week after your trip.

Those of you who read or watch the news know the F. D. A. Found walmart bottled water to be filtered tap water. What da heck do you think is in d. R. Bottle water. Read the label, stick to Agua Purificada, this is distilled water. Avoid waters labeled bottled water or natural spring water. There are no snowy mountain tops in D. R. And there is no F. D. A. Either. YOYO (You're On Your Own) and BYOBB (Bring Your Own Brown Bag) apply

Funny how guys won't drink the water but will gobble mouthfuls of sosewer pussie.

Thanx 4 listening

To All,

The Cristal's Mustang Ranch threw in the towel, and the Field of Dream is back. Nothing against the CMR, but this is good news.

The again-owner is Bill "Dominican Billy" Lane, a retired Canuck who has been in the DR forever. He is an icon in the "mongering" community.
Billy is a knowlegeable guy, and an all-round good guy.

For those who are new to the DR, Billy is the man to see.
He can tell/show you everything in the area.
He keeps the hotel well-run, with a laid-back, chica-friendly atmoshpere.

He has reopened the place at only $35 a night.
For quality accomodations, that is an unbeatable price.

I highly recommend the Field of Dreams for anyone who hasn't been there before.

I checked the site and the price of an alibi seemed to run around $175.00, looked steep at first, but thinking about it, still cheaper than a divorce.

I tried to PM you, but you can't receive them. I would say for starters whatever budget you have set aside for your trip, subtract $19.95 from it and buy the one year membership here so that you can receive PM's and also so that you can see the photos of the women you are likely to run into while in DR. Getting PM's keeps us from clogging the board with repetitive information.

=====================================

I was there in December from Thursday to Sunday as well.

Get a "Single Deluxe Suite" if you can. Very roomy. I don't know what a standard room looks like, but I am glad I did not get one.

You have to pay for your room in cash ($USD's) once you arrive at BB's, but you can pay your hotel tab in pesos once you leave. Ask the cab driver to stop you by Jenny's Supermarket on your way to BB's from the Airport so that you can exchange dollars for pesos. I think I exchanged $600 for starters.

I would say set aside at least $2000 - $2500 as a budget, but I promise you it will be hard to spend it all unless you are really trying.

PM me for more info, or just look for my December '08 trip reports under this forum. I also have photos in the photo gallery as well.

Hey Ponderosa!
Billy gives his new cell# as 1-829-432-4503

The current internet url is fieldofdreams.20m.com

The website is for the Harborview Condos he manages,
but it lists his email address and the cell number above.
It also gives his email address:
(drbilly2@gmail.com)

I presume it may take a little time to redo the website for the hotel.

As I said, he's an honest, down to earth guy who knows his way around the DR. He keeps the hotel well maintained. (He built it).
The rooms are clean, well-constructed, with all amenities to include safes.
Add the pool and (smaller than BB) jacuzzi, the bar and diner and its all you could ask for (for $35?). He'll even pick you up at the airport if you are going to stay for a few days.
(BTW, Billy helped get the business now known as Blackbeards off the ground (when it was called the Sandtrap Inn) for the original owner, who later sold it to the present owner, John).

To add to what SavePros said:

When you pay your BB room bill in cash, - pay in pesos.
I learned from RedNeckRoy that the conversion difference will save you about 5-6% on your bill. (That was news to me, I used to pay in dollars).

Stop at Jenny's Supermarket in Costambar for all your money changing, and you will get a better rate than anywhere else, to include BB.

I think it was Ponderosa who said: "In DR, cash is king!" I don't think you have anything to worry about with carrying cash around, especially if your trip from the airport is from there to Jenny's, from Jenny's to Blackbeard's (which is exactly what I did in that exact order).

You will have a safe in your room at BB's and will be given a key to it, so you don't have to worry about your cash or pesos coming up missing.

As far as I know there are no ATM's in Costambar. If you needed to use one you'd have to take a cab to the Texaco in Puerto Plata, but don't wait too late because they close around 10pm. This was not a problem for us since we were on our way to Sosua at the time (they have lots of outside ATM's down the street from Classico's that we walked to, and a Cambio next to Latino's nightclub) but we would've been ass-out-of-luck if that Texaco was our only option for cash withdrawal.

Also, most of those ATM's were out of money, but since my friend had cash on him he was able to use the Cambio next to Latino's.

Does Jennys take USD Travellers cheques?I have always been able to exchange US traveler's checks at Jenny's. It is usually Luis (and sometimes Reyes) who helps me with this. Luis has also helpes me a little bit with my espanol.

Redneck Roy goes by BobsThrobbinKnob here on the ISG

To add to what SavePros said:

When you pay your BB room bill in cash, - pay in pesos.

I learned from RedNeckRoy that the conversion difference will save you about 5-6% on your bill. (That was news to me, I used to pay in dollars).

Stop at Jenny's Supermarket in Costambar for all your money changing, and you will get a better rate than anywhere else, to include BB.

Does Jennys take USD Travellers cheques? The Casinos will take Travelers Cheques and also give a good exchange rate. I am not that familiar with what is available in Costambar but there appeared to be a number of ATM's in Puerto Plata, on the main roads anyway.

blackbeards trip

well, i haven’t really posted a review so i hope this brief report will help the newbie that comes to the area and is staying at bb’s.

i consider myself still learning every time i go although i’ve been a couple times now to the dr. this is what i’ve noticed or experienced from my trip to bb’s.

blackbeards booking:

pretty much just follow the directions on the website, i had no problems whatsoever and it was real simple.

airport arrival:

i was nervous a bit my first time i recall since i went solo, but after the process everything felt good. you will want to have $10 or $20 available and just follow the crowd once you get off the plane. you hand the guy your money, he gives you a tourist card, then you go to the guy about 10 feet away and hand him the card. customs will briefly look at your passport, and you hand him one of the two forms you have to fill out on the plane. they are colored differently, and he will let you know which he wants. then, he usually hands the passport to the guy next to him who will stamp it.

i usually then head to the bathroom at the luggage claim area before heading outside. before you head outside, you will hand another guy the other customs form you filled out on the plane. i usually just hand it to him and walk briskly thru with no problems. you will then proceed out the door and look for your taxi driver with a sign.

i opted to pay the crazy high fee to have a taxi driver meet met there, he had my name on the sign he was holding up and was right to the right when i walked out.

the drive to bb’s:

the drive is a good 30 minutes is what it will feel like. this is a good time to chat to the driver and just soak in your new dr environment. the driving is crazy in the dr, and expect people passing, cycles on the roads you feel like about to hit, and just basically no law on the road. i always enjoy looking at the open fields and “mountains” from the distance since i think it’s pretty.

arrival at bb’s:

you arrive and then head to the front desk with your driver. whoever checks you in will give the driver the money for the drive. you then will get the details of what to expect and possibly a hand out of the house rules and pay for room and taxi. it’s all straightforward and real easy. even the basic girl “prices” are listed so you know where to start your negotiations or request with the girl.

getting started:

i had a basic room, but i thought is great size for the price. has a small table, tv, etc, and the shower/bath is a decent size. after unpacking, it was time to head down to get warmed up. i decided to head to the bar and have some drinks. this was early evening and there were a good 10 girls there or so at least. i decided to head over to who i thought peaked my interest a bit and just sat and had a drink and chatted up a bit. i continued to have a few drinks, then we decided to head to the room. we pretty much talked about this being short time which is on your sheet prices. you can of course just clarify so there is no issues or problems. although, i always did short time and figured i’d ask for longer if i really like the girl.

paying for drinks/food:

i think some guys opt to pay as they go to eliminate problems, but i really liked the simple system and i didn’t have to carry any cash on me really. you can just sign everything to your room by signing and telling them your room number. i did this the entire time and my bill was actually cheaper than i thought it was going to be. i would definitely check it every 3rd day though if i was staying for longer time than i did.

the girls:

i wasn’t there for an entire weekend, so i would guess the talent gets better on weekends. still, i saw plenty of girls i liked during my stay. i must admit, i think most of the girls are 6-8 in range, with a couple 9’s rep001tered in at different times. i’m usually picky though for most part, and i still had plenty of girls i liked in one way or another. i was with black girls, lighter skinned girls, petite girls, rounder girls, big titty girls, they have all the choices you could want from what i noticed.

service:

i was a little surprised with the visit that almost every girl did a cbj that i was with. i had two girls that went straight bbj. i would assume this could be negotiated with no problem, but it surprised me because no other time at girls/places i stayed prior in dr did i ever even think about it. it was noticeable i thought. for me though, it doesn’t really matter as i like to get the ass in front of me as soon as possible usually. but, some guys like that, so may want to clarify expectations or preference with girl beforehand.

overall with the girls, some were better than others as usual, and two rocked my world and had a blast. i’d love to have names, but frankly, i can’t remember any of them and totally confused on who i do.

drinks and food:

no problems with either, all choices available for drinks that i liked, and the food was solid although i admit i really only ate light for most part so not good source of info.

overall time and notes interest:

i think bb’s is a great choice for someone new or even someone who has been to the area and looking for a change. i don’t think i’d want to stay longer than 2 or 3 nights though, as i’d rather move the party to sosua for the second half of my stay. it’s just that the choices are greater, and some hotter ones floating around i think in greater numbers. although next time i plan to stay at bb’s and enjoy girls there during day, then go out at night to get some different girls to bring back if i feel like someone different. you can stay longer, and still have all the fun with the girls onsite though or just venture out as you want. i’ve just found that some absolute fine girls can be found in sosua area or shaking it up with one night at one of the overpriced strip clubs like crystals. young, hot, and more choices on that level. i’ve also had just as good service as did at bb’s if not better with all girls i’ve been with before with the occasional bad ones mixed in.

but beware, it is far from sosua, as i know others have mentioned. nothing a good wingman can’t cure and girl sitting on your lap on way back to bb’s at night.

i usually bring my money with me in pesos and dollars. i try to eliminate exchanging there as i just not hassle with it and spend a little extra. still, i have gone to the banks and used my atm card with no problem plenty of times to take out pesos. i’ve always made sure to do this during day when open except once at night in case a problem. others are probably better with getting money and i think they say jennys is place to go.

i will say though, that i felt comfortable if a problem with a girl that everything would be alright or taken care of next day, but i never felt i would have a problem. all the girls are great for most part i met, nice, and know how it works.

leaving from pop:

the taxi driver will take you to the airport. the first time i was in dr i went to airport so early thinking it would take a while, but it’s so small that you rarely have to wait long and i always get there way early. still, just make sure you have some time for the drive more than anything in case a problem. you will fill out their exit forms and hand it to the customs person, i’ve never had anyone look more than 1 minute before letting me through. one guy stared for like one minute at it for some reason before letting me go. sometimes the people standing will ask how long have you been there prior to getting to the agent, and i usually just say 3 days and keep cruising along.

k..hope this short report helps some folks and feel free pm me as like…another trip planned in a month or so and not sure where will be staying thinking about fod if all in place and girls onsite and looks like just me. will keep looking on where/what is best to stay and enjoy this wonderful place and people.

nice report. i suspect that some peer group health educators are encouraging chicas to use condoms for all forms of sexual contact. a place like bb where many chicas are congregated is an obvious location.

personally i have found that bbbj and even uncovered sex are all too freely available, so it is hard to find a happy medium.

i think that if you are having one-off sex with a variety of chicas, it is best to go along with the program and not make a fuss about bbbj. at least it shows that the chica is aware of sexually contagious diseases and making an attempt to protect herself (and ultimately you). if you want more intimate contact, it is probably better to get a regular novia with whom everything will be available.

i was once informed that at times the girls were required to attend classes by a social worker giving them instruction in safe sex, etc. don't know if this is the source or if the instruction is still being required.

Thanks Frannie.

I totally agree, it was just one of those things...I don't mind the "safety" at all with the type of place it is there and it myself, doesn't effect me. Just was noting more for the other folks. Plus, it's all a measure of how well you click with them sometimes or how long you plan to stay with the girl there or anywhere else for that matter I think (novia up).

A good time is still to be had!

I just got the March 09 newsletter and was pleased to see Yohanny back in the mix looking delicious. They also say the new Mamason who speaks english Rosalba is her name. Anyone deal with her? Also I heard that Andy is gone and the night manager "Paco" also is gone who took his spot?
I hope my faves are still around in a couple of months when I go back. Cristal, Karina, Anais, Gisell, Johana (La Shorty), Ines, Jossy, Hilda, Carolina. Whatever happened to Ivette/Ibel or Kilsea?

I'd love to help out, but I don't remember any of the names from my trip at all. Plus, I look forward to and hopefully a nice variety of different chicas upon next time I end up there.

I didn't need the services of the new "lady in charge" at all during my visit. She seems all business from the time I saw her, which is good I would gather.

A friend who's in touch with things back there told me that Ibel left to go off with a Canadian. (Can't imagine her with only one guy, though. Let's see how long that lasts. Kilsea, I am told, got pregnant, and I presume she's a mother by now).

This is my first post.

I was thinking about spending 3 weeks in the dominican repbulic in April. I was thinking about staying at blackbeards and I had a few questions that I wanted to see if anyone here could answer, seeing as how I could not find the answers by searching the forum.

1. What do the chicas charge at BB's?

2. Are the rates standardized by BB, or is it worked out between you and the chicas.

3. GPS. Are there any software/maps available for the dominican republic? I'm not planning on getting a taxi for 3 weeks. I prefer to drive around to wherever I want.

4. Are the chicas allowed to leave BB's? It would be great to be able to have a "female escort" show me around the island.

5. Are there any charges that you wouldn't find out about until you get on the island?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks in advance for your help.I bought a laminated map on Amazon for about 11 dollars. It had sections for the bigger cities in Dom Rep, including Puerto Plata. Puerto Plata is fairly easy to navigate in a car, the main road is newly paved with new lights. Amazon has a few maps for the Dom Rep, the one I bought is called: Laminated Dominican Republic Map by Borch (English, Spanish, French, Italian and German). $10.95.

GPS I am not sure about, you may want to call bigger rental car companies that do business in the Dom Rep and ask them if they have GPS. Bring lots of one dollar bills, which you can use to tip various people. The coins you receive as change when you buy something, leave in the car. Window washers will sometimes come and wash your windshield, good to have small coins to give to them. Some roads have tolls. Good to have coins in the car to pay the tolls, in case you pull up to an exact change toll booth (toll booth clerks supposedly will not have change for large bills, 500 pesos and up). I bring with me a cheap hands free device for my cellular, I use a jabra model with a cable, that I leave in the car, it is less than 20 dollars. Cops may be able to pull you over for chatting on your cellular if you are not using a hands free device. Best not to give them an excuse for stopping you.

My last trip, on my rental car, the cigarette lighter outlet did not work, so if you plan on using any devices that need to be plugged into the cigarette lighter outlet, check to make sure it works before you leave the rental car company. Most rental cars have a cd player. So I burn some cds with music to listen to in the car, good to have some spanish cds also (merengue, bachata (frank reyes), salsa, greatest hits of juan luis guerra, greatest hits of aventura, mark anthony, are good for the chicas).

26% in taxes that will be on most bills, including room rentals at bigger hotels and bills for food in some restaurants. You have to buy a tourist card in the airport when you arrive, before you go through customs, it was 10 dollars, it may be 15 dollars now.

3. Answer: If this is your first trip to the DR and you don't have Third World driving experience, I strongly advise you take buses for long trips.
Mostly the idiots on motoconchos (motorbikes) will pass on all sides and practically dare you to kill them. Any accident WILL be YOUR fault, and everyone to include corrupt cops will have their hand out.

And yes, the answers are on the forum, just search for BB and scope the reports. Good luck.

Just as a point of interest the "Mustang Ranch" has been returned to the previous owners and is once again the "Field of Dreams" It is newly furnished and with the new long bar. Even the always friendly gardener has returned. Rooms start at about $35 US per night. It is very chica friendly, though not populated throughout the day like the more infamous alternative. There are some plans afoot to encourage some visitation by some local chica lindas during the day if there is a demand. I expect the new website will be up and running soon as I took some new photos for Billy on my last visit to PP. He will not be living on site but will be taking reservations. I enjoyed my recent stay at BB's but I do like to spend time in a place that is more tranquil and where my little head is less tempted to control my choices. It is conveniently located across the road from Playa Dorada.

There is a pecking order on the roads, people (pedestrians) will generally stay out of the way of the motos and other motor vehicles; motoconchos will generally respect cars and move out of the way, then bigger SUVs will have the upper hand and then everyone gets out of the way of the large trucks. On the sides of many roads there are cut outs, like ditches, for when it rains. So if vehicles coming in the opposite direction decide to pass, there is not much of a shoulder to move over into, in case the other vehicles have not completed passing.

(never been worth it in my opinion)

I also do a multi-destination flight search which lands me better pricing than from my original destination through Miami, despite the flights being exactly the same. Go figure.

Try Kayak.com, expedia.com, and all others, see which airlines and deals are there, then go direct to the sites. Jet Blue, Spirit, Continental, and American all fly into POP from the U.S. right now.

If you're Canadian, totally different story.

You are going to want to fly into POP (Puerto Plata) as that is where Blackbeard's is located.

Most people (I think) try to save money by flying into SDQ (Santo Domingo) and take a bus or rent a car (which I think is a 4+ hours drive), but I would not recommend that to someone who is not familiar with the country (or their terrible driving practices and road conditions!)

Also, it would be wise to go ahead and tell BB's that you want a taxi to be waiting for you at the airport. It will cost you $45 dollars (which will be charged to your room), but it keeps you from having to haggle with all of the other taxi drivers at the airport and getting ripped off in the process.

As far as airlines, I think American Airlines is the only carrier that flies out of MIA to POP, but I am not sure.

MIA to POP on AA Flight 979 then AA Flight 978 returning.

Look out for special reductions on the AA Web site. Fare will vary according to time of year. For example Easter and Christmas very high. Summer time (out of season) is cheaper. For cheapest fares book on line.

Avoid flying via Puerto Rico. Lot of extra time.

You might be able to get a connecting flight to MIA, but you will need to calculate whether it is effective in terms of time and cost.

You can park at MIA at Payless car rental for $6 per day. Easiest way to MIA airport is to get onto the lower end of US 27, which takes you right there.

If SDQ is MUCH cheaper, then you can book flight into SDQ and then yoiu can return from POP for the same SDQ price, but I would not recommend this unless you wish to spend a night in SDQ on arrival, in which case this is a good deal. Bus from SDQ to Puerto Plata or Sosua is very cheap, but taxi from SDQ to bus station is very expensive thus negating savings.

4. Answer: You can take a girl out of BBs, but the owner demands a fee of 1000 pesos, I believe. (about 30 buck these days).
That aside, I highly recommmend it. The girls are thrilled to leave the place and many make very good guides, - though it helps if you pick one with some English. Some (all) will ask you to buy them things, ranging from trinkets to expensive, but that is of course, up to you.
Often an inexpensive gift and a meal, and treating them to a good time is more than sufficient. As with all human beings, some will try to exploit you, and some will prove absolutely sweet.

American is the airline out of Florida to DR. If you check flights, you might save a little flying to Miami, but not enough, in my opinion to be worht the drive. In Puerto Plata, you can let BB send a cab for you, but the taxis in Costambar have a monopoly and tend to charge more.

Depending on your Spanish skills, you can try to barter for price.
If you understand in advance that 45 dollars is the fee you want to beat, you can try for less.

Just ask the price to COSTAMBAR.
Once you get into Costambar, tell the driver "BARBA NEGRA" (Black Beard) and he will probably know the way.
You can pay him in dollars, obviously.

As soon as you can, go to the supermarket, Jenny's, to change dollars to pesos. You'll save a lot of money that way.
You'll see it on the right as you pass through.

I may go to Puerto Plata or sousa but will wait and see. I tried to learn basic spanish and can now ask where the bathroom is and can ask for a beer I thought this would come in handy. I am looking for a gfe someone that might be a tour guide or just nice to me. When I was packing I remembered hey I need condoms duhh well I havnt bought condoms in 20 years so I was suprised by how many kinds there are ribbed lubed colored magnum well I don't need magnum I decided sensitive was the key. I just want to thank everyone hear for all the help you have given me if it wasnt for you I would not have went to dominican.
You don't need to go to BB because it's your first time and don't speak Spanish. I've never been in BB and I don't think I ever be, but if I were you, I'd go to Sosua.
As for the GFE, that's not something you can (just) buy, of course you will always have to pay for it, but like in anything in life, that needs work.
Don't be intimidated, once you get there, you'll find out that things are not as complicated as it seems to be.
Don't limit your fun by enclosing yourself in a place like BB. Do you think a bird have more fun in a cage than flying free?

I think the polyurethane condoms are a bit better than the rubber ones for sensitivity. If you are going to be getting covered BJs you might want some without lubricant and spermicide, otherwise the girl may wipe it off with a wet washcloth.

Asking for directions to the bathroom is useful. Another good word is "salida" which means 'exit'. It can help you find your way out of the airport.

You can probably find a nice gfe at BB, and with a bit of luck use her as a tour guide as well, only steer clear of the Tienda Jimenez in Puerto Plata. It is a department store that sells women's clothes.

Have a fantastic time. My first trip to the DR out of more than 30 was to BB and I had a great time and couldn't wait to return.

I just checked the photo section and notice most photos are of black chicks.

Are there white chicks in DR also?

You are not likely to come across many white working girls in Puerto Plata. You might want to consider Costa Rica instead of the DR.

There are white girls in DR. They are mostly from Santiago and La Vega and surrounding areas. Working white girls are in the minority. They are usually snapped up quickly by sponsors, western boyfriends and in some cases married to westerners.
There are always 2-3 white girls in Latino if you go early. But they are picked up quickly. I had one stay with me for four days.

Nytro,

I just had to chuckle to myself. My first trip to the DR I "flew solo" and went to BBs. After some research and courage I had my first or second post on this board and posed the same question as you about what kind of condoms to buy. I was also 20+ years without buying any condoms. I got some good advice from this board. It brought back some fond memories.

Now with about 2 1/2 years under my belt and coming on double digit trips to the DR (I must be some kind of sicko, huh??) I can try and pass something on to you. I usually go with Trojans Ultra thin (or ultra sensative I forget). They come in a silver/gray box and advertise to be very sensative. They are much more sensative than the black boxed Trojans Magnums. I have tried the Lifestyle brand, but I didn't like them that much.

Whatever you do, bring your own. The Domincan rubbers are trash. Much too small and they have a tendency to break. I had one break on me with a chica and I don't want to go through that ordeal again.

IMHO BBs is a great place to get your feet wet in the DR, and if you have time to make it up to Sosua, by all means check it out. The great thing about the DR is that there are many ways and places to enjoy punting if you read the boards. Plug into the one that works for you.

I think you'll find that for a first trip, especially for a guy with little Spanish, BB is just right for you. Sosua has a huge selection, but its strictly
"buyer beware". No quality control, no one to complain to/assist if things go to shit.
BB has a controlled atmosphere that eliminates the pickpockets, fraues, extreme drama queens, etc. You have somplace/someone to complain to, and the girls don't want to be forced out to work out on the street. Its also much faster in that you won't have to cruise around looking/hunting.
For people with limited time and still learning the DR, its just right. Plan a day trip to Sosua and split the cab with a few new buddies.

I would also recommend you bring a bottle of liquid lubricant.
(The girls would appreciate it, I'm sure.)
K-Y warming lubricant is popular. Look it up on the net and you can probably order it online with your condoms.

Enjoy, and good luck.

Enjoy, and good luck. Some of the KY massage oils do not say they are compatible with latex condoms. K-Y Touch Massage 2-in-1 Warming Body Massage & Lubricant, Unscented, says on the box: Compatible with Latex Condoms. I would read the label before you buy, some KY massage products specifically say they are compatible with latex condoms.

Always a great way to get a "non-pro" chica naked, offer her a massage. I won't use the condoms with spermicide, they burn the inside of my johnson. I use the lubricated trojan-enz. I don't want a broken condom. You can buy the ky massage oil lubricant, at walmart and drugstore.com.

Yes, you can find the full range of color within POP, especially around Costambar. I met two university students around Jenny's Market, for example.

Heading to Sosua next week and I'm considering a trip to Blackbeard's on Saturday, the 21st.

Wanted to catch the bikini contest, but I know it runs on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays. However the event calendar lists "Blackbeard's Miss Universe Contest. You Be The Judge".

Can anyone give me a quick heads up on this? How does this differ from the bikini contest? Is it worth a trip from Sosua to check out? What time does it usually start?

Thx,

Do

I believe its a scheme by John the owner to squeeze a few more dollars out of the chicas.
These are scheduled in between the bikini contests.
(The bikini contest usually started about 4 pm or so.)
I have no idea how a Miss Universe differs from a bikini contest, I magine its the same damn thing with a different name.
If you haven't been to a bikini contest, its a good way to fill a slow afternoon. Some real beauties, and some 5-6s.
The girls' have learned that to win, they have to put on a good whow when its their turn to parade past the judges, so many go into a wild bump and grind, flashing tits, or a quick table/lap dance for a judge, etc.

I'd say its worth one trip. - just one.
Its a good opportunity to scope out a date, as most of the girls will show up to watch, even if they aren't participating.
If you go there and see one you like, don't wait, she'll get picked out by someone else.
I believe there was a small cover being charged for off-siters.
(A couple of bucks, and it included one drink).

Anyone else got any more?

Was there a big music concert in POP last night? Or, at some other northern city for that matter. My chica from Santiago hit me up for bucks to go to some big event. Just want to make sure she not up there banging some other dude, while I make preparations to see her this Tuesday. I hate sloppy seconds. Besides, she is a high maintenance chica and though, I trust her, I am looking for an excuse to cut my ties and move on. Beauty is not everything and is a lousy fuck.

I have been with 4 different chicas when their boyfriend called them while we were having sex. All of them told their novio that they were at home alone " thinking about them ". In December a barmaid from Latino's was in Sosua Bay Resort with her Novio, and came to my room every day at Seabreeze, while she "went home to check on her baby ". Don't be fooled. These girls have more " game " than some guys give them credit for. Chances are your girl was " doing " more than a concert!

Has anybody ever stayed at Playa Dorado? BB's is booked for some of the days of my planned April trip and I asked one of the only chicas from there that I stay in touch with when I am stateside and the only girl that I would be willing to "wife up " with for a few days and she recommended Playa Dorado. $118. per day for two people all inclusive, not a bad deal. I've been to the disco in the complex with BB girls many times but am wondering if anybody has stayed at the complex before.

Most chicks are black because spain began importing slaves from Africa and pretty soon the black slaves out numbered the white slave owners thus leaving Dominican Republic (Hispaniola) mostly black. Dominicans prefer to hide this from their history.

Billy, the owner is a mongering icon in the DR.
He's a great guy just to have a beer and converse with.
Not all-inclusive, but a nice, simple in-house diner for an inexpensive breakfast, and for over 70 bucks a night less, you can stuff yourselves with the leftover cash.

Anyone that has ever done business with Billy has nothing but compliments.

First let me say WOW! What an experience. My report will be based on other things not usually mentioned. Prices, taxi, etc have been mentioned many times.

One of the things I didn't know was about kissing and how that went. I prepared hygenically by bringing down Listerine and a mint mouthwash. I washed my mouth before I went to my look out seat and after each session. I also brought a toothbrush for each day. 2/3 of the chica's kissed with tongue. 1/2 the chica's let you go down. The chica's also showered after each session and some brought their own toothbrush. Some BBBJ but not CIM. I may have had one who would but I just had to get into her.

The language: Do you need to know the language? No but it would help. One thing that helped me was my laptop. The long term who I was with twice knew a little English. What we did was anytime we needed a long statement was use the google english/spanish translation to communicate deeper thoughts. But I will learn more conversational spanish before I go again.

The food at BB's. The breaded pork was fantastic. The steak was good. Their special soup, Sonocho, was OK. Cheeseburger, plain and boring. Breakfast, Omlettes were bad. Ice tea fresh brewed ice tea, sweetened. Just about perfect. Coffee was free. There are two groceries close by. You have Jenny's and one the other way by the beach. Buy your soda and stuff there.

Vitamin V: I was exausted with no sleep for 2 days when I got there. Generic V(100 mg) was 150 pesos each at BB's. The farmacia by Jenny's was 1435 for 4. I did a test run bringing in Tylenol extra strength and Advil in a bottle. It went through the airport scanners and never checked. Next time I will bring my own.

Wingman: If you can bring one! I didn't and wish I did. The fellow men down there was friendly. I did have a psuedo wingman for each day and it helped. I will say I met one gentleman down there who has been there many times. I ended up calling him "Yoda" as he was the wise man.

The Chica's: I will post more in part 2. The chica's are there for money. The chica's also talk among themsleves about us. They also are very cliqish among themselevs. They knew I was respectful and the chica's were more onto me. That's enough as this is long. Part 2 coming up.

On part 1 I forgot the exchange rate. MIA airport wanted 29 peso/dollar plus $5 fees. I bought $200 worth just in case. The airport in Puerto Plata wanted 32. 5 pesos/dollar no fee but ask you what hotel and have you show your passport as they record all your information. BB's was 33 pesos/dollar, no fee. The chicas take dollars there ($40 ST/ $80 LT) as well. I did ask and the chica's like the dollar instead as they can buy more with it.

This is a quick narrative of the trip.

Day 1. Arrived at 1630 on Sunday. I chose Sunday-Wed on purpose as they are slower days and was able to see more of everything. Got there and as soon as I walked in I see some chica's on the couch and the "hey baby" started. All I could do was stare. They were in the 6 range. I went to the counter where I received the rules. The BB's staff was top rate and caters to your needs. They are truly concerned about making your visit fantastic. Chica 1 was the one in the blue bikini top in the latest newsletter. I forgot her name and pretty much all the names. She did a CBJ and mounted. She however did her Kegel exercises and milked. All the chicas milked well. At dinner the "Captain" came by introduced himself, and said anything I needed to let him know. Chica #2 found me in the Jacuzzi. I think "Yoda" sent her in after me. A short spinner found me in there. She was short blond curly hair. She was a freaking monster. Partial BBBJ, then CBJ, then many different positions. Note: The Jacuzzi is free on Sunday if you end up in the room. Other days it is $20. Since it was my first day the chica's looked at me as fresh meat and I was targeted. The third was a LT who had an incredible smile. She had that shy look but that was her M. O. And it worked back in the room. However she was a blanket hog.

Day 2. It rained all day Monday. Was going to set up poker but there were no playing cards. The captain did get some cards the next day in case it rained and had a Texas holdem tourney planned. The first ST chica is one I said later 2 the previous day. HINT: Never say later to a chica unless you mean it. They do not forget. She was a partial BBBJ, then CBJ. She did have an issue with moisture and brought her own lube. She tried but her I saw in her face it was hurting so I stopped. She said I was to big (I know I'm not). Paid and sent her on her way. More rain! After dinner was with another short spinner who was great. Almost did LT with her but needed some sleep. After I sat with some of the chica's and then talked. The rain was a bummer. I almost did a 3rd for a LT but told her instead the next day.

Day 3. Sunny day so I did the tour of the city. I arraigned it out of BB's which ended up a mistake. It was $25 for the taxi to Puerta Plata and he waited. In the square a city guide took me on the city tour. Ended up paying up $20 for a 1 hour walking tour. Ended up at a souvenir shop which was owned by the sister of the taxi driver. I know I got ripped off even after haggling but I just wanted to get out of there. Once back the chica from the previous night found me. She was 6' 1". CBJ and assorted positions. A couple of hours later was chica #2. I don't remember much about her. I don't remember ANYTHING about her. After dinner I met the LT from the first night. She remembered that it was my last night and said I should spend it with her. So what the hell I did wife up with her a little bit. She was with a friend (another short spinner) and talked me into a happy hour. The spinner for a short time and her for a long time. Now a happy hour down there with 2 chica's is them with you. Not a real threesome. It was fun though. Afterwards the chica's took over the TV and we watched "Novella", some Spanish soap and some other spanish crime drama.

Day #4. After breakfast I saw a chica but was too worn out. I did promise her when I come back we will hook up. I'm sure she won't forget.

Most of the chica's were 7-9 range. They were mostly darker skinned. If you like to "hunt" this is not for you. If you are lazy like me this is paradise.

Bottom line, one hell of a trip. 4 days was enough. Just what I needed. I will be back in September and can't wait.

Welcome to the club! I am planning a trip to include a few days at BBs fairly soon and it felt good to read about someone elses experience to get my "juices flowing".

One thing that is important and not mentioned enough is to bring lube down with you. These girls will screw you without it, but they appreciate it greatly when you have your own. And it is a good thing to have your chica appreciate you....

Thanks for the report.

Malepig....well done, very well done! It is nice to read a post from a different view point. You learned two very important lessons....one never say maybe later to a girl and two everyone who drives you in a cab will try to help you part with your money...

The food at BB's is very hit or miss. You can oreder the same meal twice during your stay and have two very different experiences. The same is true with breakfast. I did not think it was possible to screw up eggs every day.

Thanks for the report!

You should have no problems. Its been done quite a bit.
There are several there that go both ways.

You just have to talk to the new "mama-san" there to make your wishes
known and find out which girls go both ways.
Then, its just reaching an understanding in advance as to price, etc.

(My personal advice, -ask for Ibel and/or Yohanny. They will rock you and your partner's world). Trust me on this one, you'll thank me later.

I would imagine servicing you and your partner would be about 2500-3000 pesos (still only about 80 bucks) time, etc, should be discussed and agreed beforehand.

The last time I was there I bought 15 packages (60 pills) and based on your numbers it would have cost me 600 bucks and I can guarantee you that is not the case. If memory serves I paid about 6000 pesos for 60. I'm going back down in three weeks and I'll get the exact price for everyone. A word of advise for you, seeing as you know where Jennys is do your money exchanging there as you will get the best rate and have a couple more pesos to spend humpin' chicas.

I'm heading to Sosua for a few days and then on to BB's for a few days arriving Easter Sunday and staying the entire week. A friend of mine tells me I'll be sitting in the bars of Sosua alone for the first couple of days because Easter is a big family day in the DR. Anyone ever been down there the week after Easter? I have been in Colombia during that time and it was pretty freekin' dead for a few days. I would have picked a different week but I couldn't due to other commitments.

Malepig, great report but the price you said you paid at the pharmacia near Jenny's is totally out of whack. I double checked the price and she showed it to me on the calculator. I also thought 1435 was way to high as well.

The only thing I hate about ordering food at BB's is that it takes foever to get the food.Ialmost waited an hour for some breakfast

I can personally tell you that the info from Yanqui69 is 100 true. I know from experience.

Ok just got back from BB’s after my first time. I am not going to report on everything because it has been said in many posts below. I just want to add my observations for the newbie’s.

Food- Burgers sucked; French toast was the best I have ever had anywhere! So that tells you about the range of quality you get. Never ate dinner there I always went to the Italian restaurant around the corner. Everything there was outstanding. I had lasagna, pizza, other pasta and fish. All of it was excellent.

Wingman- I had a wingman with me, I will be going solo next time; just because my wingman can’t make it. You can find wingman there. We met 6 or 7 really great guys that we are still emailing back and forth. This made for a great time with some great laughs, pictures and stories. Maybe we were lucky with the group we met because on our last day/night a real A-hole showed up who was having problems with the staff and ladies and I could tell that it could create a real downer.

Quality of women- I thought the quality was better then most people mention here. I thought most were 8’s not 6’s like reported. This is just IMO. Crystals- Without a doubt a step up in quality but also a step up in price and a different not necessarily better experience. Sousa only went there during the day with a group of 6 or 7 and I know it is much different at night. Hey. It is still a crazy place during the day; I got to met "el presidente of pussy" in front of Classicos (sorry inside joke).

Spanish- Hey. Like I saw quoted in one of the threads below "all you need is the dollar and a dick" and you’re set. But without a doubt speaking Spanish makes for a much better time. It isn’t necessary but I didn’t realize until I got down there that some of these women speak no and I mean no English.

Wife Syndrome- Being "wived" isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You will end up spending less and getting great performance. You will get a lot of extra time at the pool, beach, dinner, etc. And unlike the sex prison of the states you hold all the cards. They give you shit you move on. So if you find somebody that clicks with you it’s not a bad deal. BUT. Once you have been "wived" the girl will become possessive as hell. I saw hair pulling, swatting, and some unkind Spanish. Its not that you can’t break it but it could become a hassle.

One final word- If you go somewhere else and bring a girl back the girls at BB’s hate this and will hold this against you as much as they can. There is only so much they can do; just wanted to put this out there. Also if you do a short time the Jacuzzi costs 20 dollars extra. If I think of anything else I will post it! Or if anybody has questions.

What?!! 1000 pesos to take a girl out of BBs? When did that start? The girls don't have a commitment to be there a certain number of hours; well, they do, but not like other clubs...or has that changed as of recent too?

I sent you a PM I dont know if you got it. You will not get an overweight 40 something. I can Guarentee that. We Had 8 different girls during our stay last time some were better than others. Some did not want the other girls to know that they did couples. You show the cash most will show the gash to both you and the wife. We had a couple that we could tell were uncomfortable and the experience kind of sucked. We always told the girls that if they wern't comfortable we had other options. PM me and I can tell you the girls that were good experiences and the pretenders.

Someone later said it is 800 pesos.
That said, you can blame John, the owner, trying to squeeze a peso out of someone, be it the chicas or clients.
(If you leave with the chica, you won't be renting a room, buying drinks, food, etc. and its in the bar/restaurant where the money is made.)

Is the DR 420 friendly or at least available?

Sure, and they will even reserve a room at the local jail for you for partaking. Lovely surroundings in a Dominican jail from what I have heard.

All kidding aside, if it is important to you, go to places like Jamaica or Amsterdam. You don't want to mess around with that here.

Manizales911

Is the DR 420 friendly or at least available?Don't even think about it dude.

If you bring it in yourself you take a chance on getting arrested at the various airports, a federal offense in a U.S. airport.

If you try to obtain it in the DR you most likely will get robbed as ninety percent of the people on the street offering that shit are looking to roll somebody.

If neither of these things happen to you then of course you could possibly get busted outright for possession in the DR which would really suck because you will spend some time in a Dominican jail, not my idea of a good time.

I second Ponderosa.
You won't find any guys who are familiar with the DR that will tell you different.
The potential penalties there far outweigh any possible brief "good feeling" you might from using.

The Risk/Reward ratio is heavily against it.

Ask first. Its a case by case question.
Some don't care, some have kids/families they don't want seeing that on the net.
They aren't stupid, and know that anything recorded could be on the internet for eternity.
DR has some very harsh laws regarding making pornography, so ask and don't disregard their wishes. There are also law to this effect.

Thanks!Very few girls will let you take videos,my wingman takes his video camera everywhere and is pretty good at getting girls to let him tape the "show" in other destinations but the last time we went to BB's he banged over twenty different girls and only two let him use it.

My experience has been most girls at BB's will let you take pics but almost never will they allow nudes.

I found that the girls in Sosua were more open to pictures, even nudes but almost always hit you up for the inevitable propina.

Other 5 said yes but with both top and bottoms on. One did say without cloths would cost "alot" more.

On my second trip I stayed in the Jacuzzi Suite for 7 nights. It is a large room, sofa, small bar (you provide the drinks), King size bed and a couple of chairs. The Jacuzzi is a tub shower combo and you take your life in your own hands getting in and out as it get VERY slippery. The Jaccuzzi takes forever to fill and you will run out of hot water before it is filled enough for you to use. The bathroom has a very high cieling that is screened in on top which makes the bathroom very hot. If you leave the bathroom door open the air conditioner can not keep the room cool so you must always remember to close the door. The room is large so it takes a good amount of time to cool the room down in general. The good thing about the rooms over the Bar is they still have AC when the power goes out and the generator kicks in. I would save your money and reserve rooms D-4 or D-5...see description below.

Rooms over the Bar. (All rooms have cieling fans, AC, Refridgerator, TV etc.)
D-2: is at the top of the stairs....nice room ac is so / so but is right by the entrance to the disco and the noise is very very loud. Room looks out over the pool bath room is small..B- / B
D-3: Jacuzzi Suite already discussed...not worth the extra money...B-
D-4: One of my favorite rooms. Away from most of the noise and can be kept very cool with King size bed and the bathroom is a good size. B+ / A-
D-5: Nice open room, King size bed but the bathroom is a bit small and a little more noise. B+ / A-
D-6: Small..... very small room. Queen size bed and the room looks out over the Jacuzzi. AC can be a bit of a problem as the drain tube can freeze and water gets the sofa a curtains wet. C+ / B-

I have stayed in each of these rooms for 6 - 7 nights (D-4 and D-5 four or five times) in the past 2.5 years so I feel very comfortable with the + /-. For me the most important thing is the KING size bed in the room. Just my two cents!

From a personal standpoint I like the Delux Singles. The Standard Singles are much smaller than the Delux and if memory serves correct they only come with a queen size bed. The Delux is much larger than the Standard, has a king sized bed and only 5 buck more than the Single.

The Jacuzzi Suite is the only one I haven't seen, but I can second Trav's comment on the hot water. Although the hot water is warmer and better than it used to be, filling up a tub that size and having it be of the desired temperature is an iffy proposition at best. With the jacuzzi out of the mix, all you are getting is a bigger room, which you can get with the Delux.

The Double Delux isn't quite what it is cracked up to be either. Yes there is a larger common area with a bar (you stock), but the second bed is queen sized and only seperated from the common area by a partition. The AC is in the main bedroom and getting the whole place cool is difficult. At 99 bucks it only makes sense if 2 guys share, but then you deal with the lack of AC and the partition, as privacy is only acheived if you close the main bedroom door.

The "D" rooms are above the office and in a separte building from the main hotel. They do have the advantage of the air conditioners working when the power goes out (and believe me the power WILL go out sometime during your stay). I will say they don't work at peak efficiency when that happens, but it does work. The biggest negative for me with the "D" rooms is that they are right by the bar and disco and it can get noisy if you want an early night. The "D" rooms do offer the advantage of not walking past everyone as you go to your room and sometimes it is nice to "sneak" in your room with your chica when you might be trying to go there un-noticed.

My favorite Delux is C-1. It is on the third floor and in the top corner of the main hotel, and tends to be very quiet for those early nights. It is a good sized room and windows on the side and back to provide a nice cross breeze. I have also been able to get a wireless internet connection there, so I don't have to do my computer business in front of everyone. The lack of AC when the power stops hasn't been much of an issue for me because of the breeze, but if that is really important to you, at least stay in the "D" building.

I don't know how many of these they have but the one I had there was this damn rooster right outside the window. But another BIG issue is the bathroom, which is in the master bedroom. So yea you have to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) and your bud is sawing ass or fell asleep with the door locked and you can't get him up LOL. Guess what your running across the pool area to the public bathroom.

But the positives: The room is used for the bikini contest (changing area) and if you wish you can go in there and hang out while they get ready/change. I must admit I didn't do it but was told I could so if that is your thing it may work for you. Also if you and your wingman both get all nighters it can lead to some fun partying in the room. Not orgies but nude lapdances, drinking, etc.

Alberto bought a hotel in Costambar years ago and Billy got it off

I'm sure Billy is a great person, just wanted to share my expierience there at FOD. Its alot more personal now. They have the same staff, along with some new faces. And the morning bartender is gorgeous. You got to check her out.

I can second that about the A/C, that is a major problem for that bed out front.

Not orgies but nude lapdances, drinking, etc.So I'm not the only one to be kept awake by that muthafuckin' rooster ! LOL

Apparently Alberto is a local professional investor (Damn, in the DR, that takes guts).
He has an investment company (ANOECA).

Actually, Billy has a great job, in my opinion.
As a Canadian retiree, he gets his pension, and runs the hotel(s) for Alberto.
Billy's been in the DR for years and if anyone has the chance to stop and have a beer and some conversation, its worth the time to chat; he is a good guy and has a world of experience and information regard to mongering, life in the DR, etc.

Is the morning bartender off limits or on the menu? I'm going to be at FOD starting this Monday. I think the morning bartender can be had. But I'm a playful person by nature. I think if you developed at quick friendship with her, What I usually do is my tried and true shock value. Theory. I get really friendly with the staff, I guess I use mi amor, about a hundred times in a conversation. Then I go from there to mi esposa. LOL then I just joke I want to go out with. Ahem. Mi esposa" Mandindo Al can attest to this. Then I asked them How much por mi esposa. Thats the shock. If she seems appalled, then I usually, act like I'm joking if she buys into it, then I'm fucking the shit outta her. It may not work for everyone here, but man its a helluva jedi mind trick (for all you Star Wars fans) I've used it with Rossi, the hostess there back in the day when I heard it couldn't be done. And a side note You will see Johanny, the morning office assistant. She has a smile that lights up a room, I tried my mind trick with her We all went out we danced the night away, but Damn the force"wasnt with me she wanted 250 US. I almost chocked, and she emphasized 250 US! YEAH my, so called shock value left nobody in shock, but my ass. I declined so the force was not with me. But it worked in several other places like a charm.

Especially if you've had a few drinks, banged a chica and then have to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) like a race horse. I could also do without the F-in roosters. That being said, I had a great time while I was there and plan to go back. I plan on getting a single deluxe in the main building when I return.

Well, they want $20 to go to Sosua, which is only 5 miles, so I don't think they will go to FOD for less. The distance is actually the same as Playa Dorada, so I imagine a similar charge would apply (whatever that is). Expedia says $15-25, but I don't know if that is the current rate. If you want to be really cheap, walk outside the airport and get a public taxi for $1.

If the taxistas offer you a price you don't like, you could walk off and say you will take the publico, then they may offer you a better deal.

Thanks for any advice.

Take the taxi they send for you. Tell the driver you need to stop at an ATM (cajero in Spanish) and a farmacia. You can use the cajero outside the BANK on the OUTSIDE part of the airport near the taxi pickup point, or change money at the bank there. But don't change money INSIDE the airport at the change bureau, because that is a ripoff. Changing money inside the outside BANK is also a good idea, because you can ask for smaller bills like 20 pesos, 50 pesos and 100 pesos, so you don't get it all in 500s which no one can change. They will give you a receipt, and if you produce it when you leave the country, you can change pesos back to dollars (if you have a lot left over).

I would say about 20-25 dollars, - but depending on how long you'll be staying at FOD, email Billy and ask.
If you're staying 4-5 days, he'll pick you up at the airport!

Whether you take BBs taxi or one from the airport, the price is about the same. I usually stop at Jenny's Market to exchange money on the way in.

Just tell the taxi driver to stop there on the way to BBs. He will. No extra charge. Jenny's is about a half minute past the gates to Costambar on the right hand side. You get good rates there. There is a pharmacy on the other side of the street just past Jenny's and they sell Viagra and Cialis there. I have had good luck with the generic Cialis and it works out to be about a buck fifty a pop. I usally stock up for home before I leave there also.

Hi guys, didn't know where else to post this. Have seen recent bad reviews of the Girls at BlackBeards and around POP. I've been to BB's 4 times and its been great.

Why do you put down these woman? They are Human Beings with feelings, emotions and deserve our respect. The very reason we venture down there is because of them; they are the very reason we love this island so. But these women are mothers, daughters, sisters and caregivers-thet not only deserve our respect, but they demand it. It's okay to take pictures, but with permission. Don't disrespect them by making crude and terrible comments; And you should get permission so that they know what you are doing-it is common coutesy. Have respect for yourselves, show class in your reviews and, if you don't have anything nice to say-don't say anything. These Women work hard and they do everything they can to make our trips memorable. Show them that you appreciate them and give them the respect they've earned and deserve.

Be good guys, not because god is watching or you'll go to hell if you are not, but because it's the right thing to do.

Be good guys, not because god is watching or you'll go to hell if you are not, but because it's the right thing to do.Not all chicas are equal in the Dominican Republic, some are very nice and others are nasty thieves, that would cut off your balls for 5 pesos. If a guy is not firm with certain bad chicas then he will be robbed. I have not seen too many bad crude comments about chicas on this board. I have seen plenty of posts where guys will recommend certain chicas at Blackbeards. This board is like Consumer Reports, you can read recommendations on which chicas are good and which ones are bad. If you want to treat a bad thief chica with respect (and let her take your money or property for nothing) then that is your choice. In my book a thief deserves no respect.

I do not recall many negative comments about any of the BB's girls and I have found that most of the posts here are from individuals that treat the girls and everyone involved with respect. An individuals experience with a girl varies for numerous reasons. An honest report allows for this variation of experience. I have been to BB's more times than I can remember and have sat around in the restaurant and bar for hours with guys talking about individual experiences with this girl or that girl. At the end of the day we can all agree everyone experiences something a little different with each girl. Damn I miss those conversations!!

I always look forward to the details of someone's trip with the names of the girls. Side note....as a collective group on this site we are not good with remembering names.

I would like to say thank you to everyone that does take the time to write detailed reports of thier trips and post pictures.....it helps us all to pass the time until our next trip.

Actually most of the negative comments I have seen on BBs chicas pertains to there being "the same batch of girls" there. You don't have the selection you do in Sosua, so just know that going in. I have no problem with that, but some do.

Keep an eye on your bar tab as some chicas that look like there are with you will order drinks on your tab. Just order your own drinks and that takes care of that.

Other than that, some may pester you to buy this or that for them, just let them know you are in charge, nicely but firmly, and you won't have any problem here. Really you can't blame them for trying to get more out of you at times, especially when you see how they live, and they see you spending more in a day than most regular workers make there in a month in the DR.

What I have trouble with is some of the chicas have guys there buying them scooters, or even shack houses tor them there. There are also some chica's that have more "Western Union" novio's than you might think. If you think with your big head instead of the little one, you will be alright.

One nice thing about BBs is the controlled atmosphere itself, as there is a mamma-son on site to complain to if one of the chica's get out of line. Believe me, as much as the chica's complain, this is a good paying job for them with some built in safety they do not have in Sosua. They don't want to be banned from BBs.

Treat the girls with respect, act as if it was a date and learn a little Spanish and you will be alright.

Let's put this into context if we may. I only have a few posts here as I have gone out of the country once but have many on Jackson's other site. This person made one post in essence slamming other poster for something that really is not true. I have read many of the posts going back 2 years about BB's and there has been nothing negative to be negative. There has been fair reviews and criticisms. I have as well about the lunch there (no cheeseburger again! ). Just something odd about that post.

Now as far as the Chica's getting scooters, presents, Western Union, etc. I do agree it is extreme but I am guilty to a lessor value as well. For me when I went it was a fantasy experience. When I go back in September it will be another fantasy experience. One Chica I "wived (2 long term)" up with needed new clothes for the blue colour night. So I gave her 1000 Pesos so she could get clothes to match the night. Was I a sucker? Yes but what the hell. But for me the fantasy ended at the airport. I met a couple of guys who were sending money down to Chicas. They live the fantasy to far for me but as one told me, he can afford it, almost retired, and didn't care.

Another (stupid) question regarding BBs. What's the guy/girl ratio on normal day, is it a fight for the girls or is there enough good ladies available. I'd think the latter is the case after reading some comments and reports but just thought to ask anyway!

Well, we all have our favorite methods.
If your Spanish is limited, go ahead and take the one the hotel sends.
Otherwise, I'd suggest trying to barter a bit with the taxis lined up at the airport waiting for fares.

For money, I believe the best deal on changing is at Jenny's the supermarket in Costambar (where BB is). You'll get better rates there.

Since the taxi will orgininate from Costambar, he'll be familiar with it; you just have to ask for Jenny's Supermercado. You can ask the cashier ot change dollars and she'll call the manager up front to take your dollars to the back to change them. Its a very good deal and the place is trustworthy.

Since you will probably want to change dollars once or twice while staying at BBs, Jenny's is the place to go. Just a 5 minute walk from BB, and yo ucan buy bottles of water, etc to keep in your room.
(Me personally, I carry cash on my person. Since I'm going directly from the airport to Costambar by taxi, little risk of robbery). There are safes in the rooms, so I change my dollars every few days, as I need to).

Advice: - if you pay for your room on arrival in pesos, you can save about 5% over paying in dollars, traveler's checks, etc. Change enough for a couple of days at Jenny's on the way in, pay your room, keep only what you need, and the rest in the safe.
Enjoy.

Regarding the girl-guy ratio, it varies. Early in the week is usually slow, meaning most guys arrive for the weekend, or will be out and about early in the day, so maybe not so many chicas will be waiting around during the day (not to say there aren't any, but many chicas will be tending to kids, etc).

More will show up later in the afternoon/evening. Weekends have plenty of both guys and chicas. Some weeks will have few guys staying, sometimes several groups will come in for the weekend.

Weekends are noisy and crowded, so some who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will show up early in the week, have the place largely to themselves, and split on the weekend when the inmates arrive to fill the asylum.

If you arrive early, use the time to scope out the ones you like. If you see a chica and either you or she has a companion at the time, make a date for later in the day or the next day. Try to get their names and numbers, you can ask for them later, or ask someone to call them at home for you.

If you see a chica you like, -don't waste time. Get her name and make a date, for then or later, or someone else will.

Competition is toughest on the weekend, of course.

I just spent five days in Puerto Plata and stayed at Field Of Dreams. I am going to compare the facilities and service at FOD to BB's as they are in direct competition and the guys that most likely would go to FOD would be BB's customers.

I want to first clear up any doubts as to who runs, owns or manages the place as there has been some confusion about that. Alberto is the owner and I spent a lot of time sitting around talking to him, nice guy and a smart businessman. Billy does NOT own the place and I did not see him there once the entire time I was there. He did pick me up at the airport and told me his time is spent managing the Harborview condos. As some of you have noticed Billy's contact info has been removed from the FOD website and this is why. A women named Joseline is the manager, speaks english and tries very hard to please the customers.

Because I had never been there before and did not know how many chicas would be there and what the selection would be like I decided I would bring my own "sand to the beach" to begin with and adjust who and when once I had a lay of the land,I am very glad I did. I arranged to have two chicas that I have known now for about two years meet me at FOD. One of the girls,"S" I met at BB's and no longer works there, the other girl "D" still works at BB's. I have spent considerable time with these two chicks and they are a ton of fun, lots of laughs and they do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in bed with me so I knew I couldn't go wrong. When I first started planning this trip I had planned on going hunting in Sosua but I was traveling alone and decided to change my plans and have a lazy mans vacation, make sure I had girls with me that I knew would take care of me and also had no problem with me adding to the harem if saw something that caught my eye while I was there. Did I say these two chicks are the coolest I have ever met in the DR?

Billy picked me up at the airport and dropped me off at FOD and my two girls were waiting for me as planned.

Joseline showed me my room which was a suite,a large room but not huge, and a very large bathroom which I like. The room was spotless, the bathroom was modern and clean, all the hot water and water pressure you needed which in some places is a problem, not here. The suite was $60.USD tax included. They have another suite that has two beds and it is $85. the normal rooms are $40..Alberto said they are in the process of adding another suite. When I went to put my passport and extra money in the room safe it would not lock even though it looked brand new. It is the kind that uses a key pad instead of a key and my apartment in Colombia has one of these so I knew it wasn't my stupidity that was causing it not to lock. I went and told Joseline about it and she tried it to no avail and gave me the key to the room next to mine so I could use the safe in that room until she got it fixed. That night the guy from the safe company came and realigned the pins and everything was cool. Overall the suite at FOD trumps anything BB's has to offer and other than the Jacuzzi suite I have tried them all, from a cleanliness standpoint it isn't even a horse race,Alberto told me BB's hasn't changed the mattresses in BB's since they opened the fucking place,WTF!!!

The first day we hung around FOD all day swimming in the pool and getting drunk. The pool was nice and clean and was that way my entire stay. At BB's, depending on what mood the staff is in the pool is either clean or filthy. I own two homes with inground pools and it doesn't take a lot of work, the equipment and chemicals do the work but you have to monitor it.

The food at FOD was excellent and I tried something different every time I ordered. The menu is a little smaller than BB's but diverse enough in my opinion.

One thing to keep in mind if going to FOD, there is nothing around there whatsoever, so I would strongly recommend that you plan well and make your stops for supplies on the way in. Alberto made it perfectly clear to me that if I wanted to bring my own food and/or drink and consume it on the patio in front of my room I was more than welcome. I don't roll that way and have no problem with buying my drinks and food at the bar and on site restaurant but for the guys that need or want to save a few bucks go right ahead, he of course would appreciate it that you don't bring your own food or booze into the bar or restaurant area.

There are not a lot of girls at FOD,the most I saw was eight and the fewest I saw were four. I told Alberto straight up that if he wanted to get guys here he was going to have to do something about it. He told m he will have 20+ girls there soon, thats cool. His business model as far as the girls are concerned I think is the way to go, they are totally independent,he does not charge them any fee to be there and no fee to leave, they come and go as they please. They can charge what they want and you can negotiate whatever you want. There is a girl that is kind of like the mamasan of the girls and her name escapes me,she used to work at BB's,you guys that are regulars of BB's will recognize her but I never got her name. This is only my opinion but I think the reason for a lack of girls is that the place is in a catch-22 situation,no girls means no guys and no guys means no girls, that will change as guys get sick of the rundown condition of BB's as I am and want to try something new. There weren't a ton of guys there and they all kept to themselves during the day and at night there was never anyone hanging at the bar so I did not get to talk to any of the guys staying there but with two exceptions everyone had brought girls with them.
I noticed that the girls do not stay late either and I am sure that is because they are heading elsewhere to try and make a buck before the night is over and like I said, the place is dead at night. We usually headed out at night ourselves after nine o'clock. The bar stays open until 12 or later if there is someone there drinking but I can guarantee you the bartender closed up every night at 12. We did stay late one night and she kept serving us until we headed to the room.
On the second or third day my two chicas noticed I kept eyeing this one girl that was smoking hot,and I mean smoking hot! She was the only girl I saw there that I can honestly say was off the chart hot, probably one of the best looking girls I have ever seen in the DR. "S" asks me if I am interested in her and I tell her yes and she motions her over and I buy her a beer. I ask her if she wants to hang out with us for the night and she doesn't seem to understand me. According to "S" she had never been asked to do TLN before so she was taken aback by it. By the way this chica also looked very, very young so I did an I.D. check on her and sure enough she had just turned 18,no problema!! She told me she could not do TLN,she said she had to be home by 11p.m. because her father was sick (yeah, right) which bummed me out because I wanted to go out on the town with all three of them and go dancing and drinking but oh well. I still wanted to bang her because she was so hot so I took her to the room for a test drive and I am so glad her father was sick (LOL) because she couldn't find her way around a bedroom if her life depended on it. In hindsight I should have taken one or both of my other girls with me as they would have put her on the right track for sure and I wasn't in the mood to play teacher when I had two girls right outside that knew EXACTLY how to treat a guy. The girl goes by the name of "Eliza" and she wears a bracelet that says "Elizabeth" on it. Buyer beware, she is absolutely no good in the sack. Next time I am there I am going to take her again along with my two experts and see what happens as she really is that hot and in my opinion totally hot girls in the DR are not that common. I know a lot of guys will flame me for saying that but I spend a total of three months a year in Colombia and if you want really hot girls (I'm talking strictly looks) the DR is not the place to be.

In conclusion I highly recommend FOD over BB's in every aspect with the exception of available girls (for now) and the isolated location, but when Alberto gets more chicas frequenting there and guys start frequenting the place we will have another quality alternative when visiting the DR.

If anyone has any questions P.M. me or ask in the forum and I will be glad to answer them.

I would have to agree that this is only for a lazy Mans vacation. Both these places are so isolated from what makes the North Coast so special. It's hard to believe anyone stays at either! When Billy sold it to Lino from Crystals, He offered me a free stay there so I could Tell everyone about it. I told him if he moved it closer to the action, I would be glad to, But I have never had any interst in staying in Bum F___ Egypt. I always rent an SUV when on the North Coast, and I still think both places are "out of play". Just my opinion. I love to role out of bed at 11pm from my evening nap and immediatly have options just a few steps away.

You really slapped around BB's in your Post. Are you sure Alberto did not sell you the place while you were there?

Didn't the 100th bikini contest go on this past weekend at BB's. Was it any different then any other contest? Does anybody have a report?

Thanks in advance!

Great report Manizales!

I do have one question, since the chica's were doing separate negotiations, what was the prices like?

Great report Manizales!

I do have one question, since the chica's were doing separate negotiations, what was the prices like?I spent my entire stay with the two girls that I had arranged to meet me there. They don't work there. The only girl I took to my room that worked there was that girl Eliza, she was gorgeous but was the worst performer I have had in my entire life. She never talked money to me, I threw her 1500 and kicked her to the curb.

Thanks for the report Manizales - very good. As a long time BB patron I will plan to try in next time I am down there - maybe split my time between there and BB. I have also spoken to a few of my regular girls one of whom has switched from BB to FOD. She told me that lots of the BB girls that John got rid of in the past few months are now at FOD and that the place is fun. She talked of wet t-shirt parties and striptease shows and said that because it is more private than BB, they girls can get naked/topless in the pool and be a lot more crazy than John lets them do at BB. I suppose how wild reflects how many guests, but this weekend apparently there were 10-12 guys there. I do not know what the rate for the chica's is but I assume not much diff than BB which is around 1500 for short time and 2500 for TDN. Can anyone provide clarity on that? It may be a bit more subject to negotiation. Sounded like the girls all pay the mamasan a few hundred pesos share for every guy they get. My girl Elizabeth (Baby) seems to like it a lot as not as many rule as BB.

In terms of location, FOD is nowhere but so pretty much is BB - you need to taxi or car to go dancing etc. From that perspective FOD location across from Playa Dorado is more convenient for Sosua, Cabarete, the disco or even downtown Puerto Plata than BB which is located west of the city in Costambar. On plus with BB is that you can walk to the beach which is not possible at FOD. I would love to hear more feedback on this place.

The isolation of FOD may not be all that bad. There is an increasing number of guests that like the privacy. It is true there are more options with in walking distance from BB's but more and more clients staying at BB's are renting a car or sharing the expenses with others so they can do more. The girls at BB's as a general rule are NOT happy with many (any) of the new policys not to mention the fees they must pay monthly to work there and the fines including the exit fees that they (we) pay when a client is not staying there. They are not as "independent" as (we) the clients are led to believe, in fact just the opposite is true.

I am not bashing BB's but the place has survived because there has been no viable competition from a similar operation. FOD may just be able to offer that competition. The girls will go where the business is. Given the opportunity to make similar (or better) money in a less oppressive enviornment than BB's the girls will leave as fast as thier scooters will take them.

As a BB's veteran of 18+ trips in the past 3 years I will try FOD this summer for a week or so. As their client numbers increase and more girls are at FOD I am sure the girls can get in contact with any of the girls from BB's.

Just my thoughts on the subject. I am looking forward to reading additional reports as more of us check the place out.

As I put in my report the place has major potential but as of three weeks ago it was pretty dead there. I will return but I'm bringing my own party just in case!

Seems to me BB management may have rocked the boat just a little too much.

In an effort to nickel and dime a few more profits out of the business they changed enough to alienate their some key staff/employees. Now there seems to be a viable competitor on the horizon.

Only good can come out of a little competition… for the patron anyway.

Anyone go and take some photos that they could share of BB's 100 Bikini contest? If no photos how was it? Is the changes going on at BB's good or bad? Are there many new faces? Is FOD Field of Dreams getting the girls that have been let go by BB's? I am going in July and am wondering if any of my old Faves are now at FOD. Anyone know the current line up at FOD?

Thanks to Juan Doe for the great pictures and the link to the FOD web site! I checked out the FOD site and it looked very good. It needs a bit more information on the rooms and rates along with the size of the beds in the different rooms but over all was a very good start. The pictures were very nice as well. I assume that each room has AC...I may have missed that info on the web site.

The Bikini Contest had many many familiar faces from BB's! I hope that this is the start of something good. I was leaning towards going to Costa Rica in June or July for 6-10 days but now I will give FOD a chance.

Anyone have plans to go to FOD during those months? Send me a PM and let me know. It would be nice to see some more familiar faces from BB's at FOD.

can anyone recommend a good cheap guest friendly hotel with a/c and a safe in pp. i don't want to go to bb or fod, i'd rather be downtown somwhere where you can meet regular chicas too so hopefully close to the nightlife. i can get by in spanish. my other option is cabarete but as i'm not in to [CodeWord118] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord118) so there may not be much to do during the day there aside from lying on the beach. and i'm currently in sosua so would prefer to try something different. if anyones has tried both cabarete and pp, maybe you could give a quick comparison.

any tips, suggestions for pp most welcome.

JD,

Thanks! There were about 10 chicas there for a month, some came for the contest only. As of yesterday there were about 12 with at least 4 in the 7-9 range. As the place is new (under new management) you will normally see a big turnover at first- but will settle down. You always have a few sharks show up looking for easy prey- if they find any they strike-if not they mone on. About half have prior experience (BB) and half are newbies looking to break into the game.

I ve been to BB last year in April for a week and had a wonderful time, I just like some info on FOD

Like what prices for the Chicas

For an 1 to 2 hours session And Whole Night.

Are prices for the session for bb the same for a happy hour and whole night

$40 and $80 US.

Which place do you prefer to stay at.

Was Charo the mamasan there? That would be huge as she has a wealth of chica phone numbers to get the place goin or at least for us BBs vets to get back in touch with our jaded favorites!

Was Charo the mamasan there? That would be huge as she has a wealth of chica phone numbers to get the place goin or at least for us BBs vets to get back in touch with our jaded favorites! No, I was told Charo doesn't want anything to do with doing that kind of work again and is considering opening a restaurant.

The mamasan at FOD is a girl that used to "work" at BB's but I don't remember her name for the life of me.

No, as only a reader of the report, it appeared that Charo doesn't work there.
Though you bring up an excellent point.
Since she left BB, she might make a good addition to the FOD.
(With some reservations that I would pass to Alberto confidentially).

Near the puerto there are 3 local puteros, El Consulado, El Deseo and El Placer. Very typical Dominican hangout, with heavy beer drinking, not so good looking chicas, mostly are fat (from the beer), sometime some gems (the new ones). At my time 200 RD$ salida and 500 RD$ por un rato 30 min to 1 hour. This post from Taurus1 about Puerto Plata appeared in the Sosúa section a few weeks ago. I had a few hours to kill before my flight home yesterday and called into the middle one of the three bars. I don't know its name although I have been there many times (but not El Consulador). I took out Julie (20 y. O.) for 90 minutes and she was great (but then I am partial to Haitians).

I even managed to pay the "Dominican" salida of 200 pesos (they usually charge gringos 300 pesos). Usual rate is 800 pesos for an hour but I offered 1000 and she nearly bit my hand off. Sweet, shy girl but very willing in the cama. Superb tight round ass. I "propina"ed her OTT to use up my final pesos. She must have thought it was her birthday but in fact it was mine. Hard to find girls this fresh and cheap in Sosúa, but on the other hand you could call into that bar, and the bars either side of it, ten times running and find nothing but dumpy or haggard Dominicanas, so not worth a special trip.

Do you care to explain why?

The pics of the place are pretty sweet.1. Power kept going on and off.

2. The ceiling by the kitchen would leak when it rained.

3. The jacuzzi didn't work, it like it never worked.

4. The power people came to turn off the lights while we were there, we had to call the proprty manger.

5. The Ac in my room didn't work, they had to get another one after 3 days into my stay.

6. The water pump went out after a few days of being there, they had to fill up the reserve with a water truck.

7. The main road to come into Costambar ids horriable, anybody that stays at BB's will tell you that.

Don't be fooled, the of the villa look great until you get there. Here is another review from someone who stayed right before us.

Nightmare at Villa Parthenon

Sad Teacher Chicago

Review Submitted: May 5, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009

This was advertised in a way that sounded like a fabulous vacation getaway. It turned out to be the saddest vacation ever for our group of 12.

It advertised a jacuzzi that has not worked in over 2 years, electrical violations throughout the entire home, no A/C in the community area, 2 of the 6 bedrooms are in the basement and were dark, dreary and dungeon-like. My daughters were supposed to sleep in one of these rooms, but 5" spiders made them run up to our room with their mattress. We paid for their room and they slept on the floor of our room. They advertised washer/dryer. The dryer didn't work and you had to dry your clothes on the cement wall. They advertised toilet paper, but we had to get our own. They advertised pots and pans, but what was there for us to use were disgusting. They were dirty and burnt. The stove needed to be lit with matches and we didn't have any.

The ad also states that Puerto Plata is a 5 min. Drive, but it isn't. Everywhere you go, you need to get a taxi. We needed 2 taxi's X $40-50 each. Without a phone, we were stranded in a strange place. In case of an emergency we didn't have information on how to contact the police, fire, a doctor or an ambulance.

In order to watch the TV, we had to put batteries in the remotes. The ad states that all bedrooms have bidets and double sinks. None of the bidets work and only one sink is operable in each room.

Midweek, a waterline on a bidet ruptured and the entire 1st floor flooded. Water was everywhere, some of my clothes and my cloth luggage was soaked in this flood water. We were finally, forced to leave and find another place to live for 3 nights. We have photos if anyone wants to see.

ThanksBilly told me before I went that because of the thick cement walls and rebar that they can't get wi-fi in the rooms but outside the rooms I should have no problem,I couldn't pick it up there either. It wasn't a problem for me because they have two computer stations right next to the bar.

Angelita, and yes she used to be at BB's.

Is the mamasan at FOD there most of the day?

Does she try to get chicas to come in if you request them?

Are there pre-negotiated prices or any type of price guidelines?

Are most chicas ex-BBs or are there fresh faces?

Any info on manditory health screening?

Is the restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and diinner?

Enquiring minds want to know....

Enquiring minds want to know....I can't answer all your questions Ponderosa but I will answer some.

The mamason was there during the daytime only. The girls left early too about 8 pm

I brought my own girls because I had heard there weren't many girls there and that was the case, usually only about five girls there. Alberto told me he would have about twenty chicas soon. Unless someone reports that there are more girls now I STRONGLY recommend that you bring your own girls or have phone #'s at the ready because I was surprised at the lack of talent.

Several of the girls I saw were ex-BB girls. The girls are totally freelance and pricing is entirely between you and the girls, Alberto said it is going to stay that way as long as he is the owner.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Enquiring minds want to know....Angelita was there during the day anytime I was. I had rented a 200 cc motorcycle from Nelson Rent-a-car, and much of the time I was out seeking adventure elsewhere!

The hotel only governs the behavior of the girls they have on site. If you bring a girl in they do not check cedulas nor do they get involved in any way. I asked why, and was told that while the hotel is guest friendly they are not just a Ho-tel. Many guests come in with there wives, and girlfriends, and the FOD does not want to risk offending them by treating them like *****s. So yes you are welcome to bring girls in.

Not sure on Manditory health screening. Didn't ask. Breakfast starts at 7:30 am and is excellent. All the meals I had were excellent. Yes you can find cheaper elsewhere, but you'll be hard pressed to find cheaper, and consistently as good (IMHO). Yes. Open for all 3 meals. Not sure what time the kitchen closes at night.

I was wifed up 2 different chicas. Not from FOD for my time there. I'm guessing 50% of the girls were of former BB's fame. Chica wise there was something there for everyone. From spinners to the girls with the phat asses, and everything inbetween, even one that was 5 months pregnant!

I was treated like royalty at FOD. The staff and management were amazing. They catered to my every want. Sometimes even before I realized I wanted something! I cannot even imagine staying anywhere else during any future trip to the north coast. I screwed up when I booked in. I made a mistake on my departure date. I had booked and paid for an extra day. On my last day I realized my mistake. I explained the situation and they refunded my money for the last day without hesitation. IMHO. A first class operation!

Standard room $46 a night.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

To Charles Pooter: Very glad you had a good time with Julie. Anyway, as somebody already stated, in almost every village of are. D. There is a bar or disco where there are putas. Ask a motoconcho, he will know. Normally I ask somebody who looks thrustworthy and he takes me to the places or the place, even if he is not a motoconcho. You can find very astonishing things like girls that look like beauty queens, things that never happen in Sosua. Also on the main roads there are puteros especially when there is none in town or the village.

Something very special happened to me in Santo Domingo. For my budget Santo Domingo was very expensive so I lived at the hotel Don Max at the Calle Benito Gonzales. At first Don Max was a good hotel, very cheap. But with time run down, every year it was worse. The interesting thing is that the Haitian putas that are at el Conde and especially at Pacos are living there. Three girls are living in a room for $ 10. From the hotel walking direction Avenida Duarte there is a good putero named el Dorado with air condition, music with videoclips, dancing cheap cold beers, chicas etc. Salida 200 are. D. $, chica 500 short time, ca. 1000 TLN. At that time Don Max itself safe but chicas very dangerous because of thefts. Had passport, T. C. S and small amounts of cash at the reception. Didn't go there because of worsening conditions of Don Max and also because the area now is very dangerous. Not especially the calle Benito Gonzales itself but the surroundings. At the time I walked from El conde to the hotel and further to Avenida Duarte. Since 5 years you must take a taxi. The area is near the Little Haiti and during the last years the influx of Haitians has risen dramatically. During the day the most part of the walking area and the streets are full of goods and people. They sell a lot of foodstuffs, clothes etc. Sometimes there are young beautiful Haitian women working es sellers etc. But surely a Blanc can score there. At the esquina from the Hotel Don Max there is a newer building with the Hotel Apartments El Amor, a yellow building with a big mural/painting of a beautiful woman. Parque Enriquillo is near and there are all the guagua and bus routes to the East and the North incl. Boca Chica. At Calle Mercedes there is an apartment house that rents small apartemens. Very convenient for Santo Domingo.

At BB its best to pay in cash, in pesos.
If paying with a credit card, they charge a whopping 24% fee.
If paying in other than pesos, they give a bit less to the dollar thatn at Jennys.

At FOD, is there a charge for credit cards?
Prices are quoted in dollars? How do they take payment, dollars or pesos?
If they change dollars, how does their rate compare?

Can any recent guests provide this useful info?
Gracias

It is very informative.Could you give some detaile of hotel Don max,Hotel Apartments El Amor ect ( price, condition )?From the corner of Plaza Independencia there where is the headquarter of the fire squad (bomberos) you walk up the calle Benito Gonzales for 10 minutes. At the right side you see the sign of Hotel Don Max. Also on the right side, before the Hotel you see a side street on the right and there you see the big advertisement picture of Hotel Mi Amor. You walk three or four minutes and on the left side you see the cabaret El Dorado. Further 3 or 4 minutes you are on Avenida Duarte/ Parque Enriquillo. At Av. Duarte there are 2 big department stores (California and la Sirena) where most of normal Dominicanas buy their clothes and hygienic articles. Lot of chicas there and female staff. There are other stores (Plaza Lama, Los Muchachos, Casa del Jeans etc.) Lot of small stands that sell imported black market goods especially from Haiti. Sometimes cheap perfumes, make-ups, watches etc. But attention! A lot of fakes. Also alot of fruits and vegetables. Must know the prices and bargain heavily. Don Max is cheap. 2 years ago 315 are. D. $ must have increased because of power bill. Don Max has air condition but take a room with the engine outside the window. When the engine is in a little room next your sleeping room you have the noise and the heat of the gear. My Amor looks new but I don't think it is more than 600 are. D. $. Normally there is a price list hanging at the wall. Look there of ask the staff. Nearby is the Little Haiti (Pequeno Haiti) a Haitian shantytown where is a big complex selling Haitian handycraft. A rip-off, attention to the purse, a lot of crowd and pick-pockets. At Avenida Duarte at night there is street prostitution, dangerous and also drug dealing, sometimes beautiful girls, also minors. Nearby at Benito Gonzales hotels by the hour like Media Luna, Escocia. Was never there because not so clean. Prices ca. 600 are. D. $ all night less for a couple of hours. All this hotels have room service for drinks, snacks, hygienic articles, condoms etc. Condoms for free. Generally very rough area at night. There are also other cabarets and dives with booze and chicas. When not experiences very dangerous.

If you don't plan on renting a car and want some things to do or places to go on foot don't go to FOD because there is ZERO within walking distance and cabs can get expensive. When I stayed at FOD me and my girls went out almost every night and took day trips almost every day and my a**hole still hurts from the taxi bill at the end of the week. And I countered your argument some time ago but let me try again:
1) Sosúa is twenty minutes from FoD but fifty minutes from Barba Negra.
2) Puerto Plata is ten minutes from FoD but fifteen from Barba Negra.
3) There are two banks, a three-screen cinema, a walk-in doctor's surgery and a shopping mall within walking distance of FoD. Nothing like that in Costambar.
4) I have stayed a total of 19 weeks at FoD on various trips and have no problem with my a**hole because I rarely needed to use a taxi and never rented an auto. A two-minute walk to the main road and there are fast, frequent and very cheap publicos (shared taxis) and guaguas (minibuses) running between PP (20 pesos) and Sosúa (40 pesos). Some of the guaguas continue on to Cabarete. (I guess a taxi to Sosúa from Barba Negra would cost around 1000 pesos). Double your publico expenses if you are taking a chica, of course. There is no publico or guagua service in Costambar and it's a long trek to the main road from Barba Negra.
5) But if you do insist on using private taxis the taxi cartel at Barba Negra charge 50% more per mile than the taxis serving FoD.
6) There is a clean beach within walking distance of FoD. The beach is much nearer to Barba Negra but the water is polluted.

I am not knocking Barba Negra, it's a great place, and many will have their own reasons for preferring it to FoD. The factors I have listed above may be important or unimportant to different guys depending on what they want out of a holiday. I am just saying that as to location there are two sides to the argument.

As Gabriel rightly points out, Field of Dreams is on a highway. Barba Negra is at the end of a horrible dirt road. Which fits the normal definition of "isolated" better?

I don't know, I have never been there. I spend very little time at the beach, so it really wouldn't bother me. A clean pool to do some exercise, after drinking many presidentes, is more important for me.

Which fits the normal definition of "isolated" better?I have not been to Blackbeards or Field of Dreams. FOD is located across the road from Playa Dorada complex. I have driven by Playa Dorada complex around 10 times.

I would not want to be in that area around Playa Dorada complex without my own car. I stayed for 5 nights at the Coral Marien Hotel which is in Costa Dorada, the next complex adjacent to Playa Dorada. The nightly round trip to Sosua in the rental car, was tiresome after 5 nights (20 minutes to Sosua? I never timed it, but 20 minutes seems kind of quick. Late at night, with no traffic, at 80 miles per hour, just don't hit any horses that may wonder onto the road, or dogs, or motoconchos with no lights). Transportation options decrease the later it gets.

I never studied the area around Playa Dorada, but from what I can remember didn't appear to be much of anything of great interest within walking distance. From what I remember, their is a Burger King on the side of the highway, rental car places and some smaller business, not many people walking along the side of the small highway there.

Walking 5 or 10 blocks in a northern country can be fairly easy because it it is not super hot and the streets usually have other pedestrians. Walking 5 or 10 blocks in the Dominican Republic, hot, strong sun, along a small highway with few other pedestrians, is not for me.

Guas Guas and/or publicos, again not for me. I had enough years of being jammed into subway cars in New York City, I don't want to repeat that type of experience on vacation. For adventuresome guys who don't mind a little discomfort, crowding or lack of air conditioning in some vehicles, then go ahead and take guas guas or publicos.

One thing I am not sure about is, can people staying at Field of Dreams use the beaches in Playa Dorada complex? Playa Dorada complex is mostly all inclusive hotels on the beach. To get to most parts of the beach a person would have to walk through an all inclusive hotel (Is there a public beach in Playa Dorada complex?). Most all inclusive hotels will not allow people to freely enter their hotel and walk around, the guests at each particular hotel are given wristbands that identify them as guests of that particular hotel. I don't know how beach access for guests staying at Field of Dreams works. Adjacent to the malecon in Puerto Plata, the beach is public, but that would be a long walk from Field of Dreams.

The beach in Playa Dorada from Field of Dreams will be a bit of a walk. A person would have to cross the small highway, from what I remember there are no traffic lights. The person would then have to walk by the security guards at the entrances of Playa Dorada complex, and then walk along the road that goes through part of the golf course. It will be a bit of a walk, and it is under that strong sun and high heat there.

Have been observing the Isolated debate, and like others seen on this site, there is no "right" aswer, as it is entirely a matter of personal taste.
Coke vs. Pepsi.
One has no problem taking local transportation, the other wants to be able to walk to wherever.

I have stayed at both BB and FOD.
I am spoiled in that I don't like waiting for transport.
As a matter of convenience if I want a bottle of water, change money, maybe a toothbrush, its nice to be able to walk to it in a few minutes, without resorting to a public car, guagua, etc. Costambar/BB is good for that. Yes the road into Costambar sucks (I call it the Via Dolorosa).
But not being a local, I don't have to endure it everyday (it really sucks after a heavy rain!) The beach is popular with locals on weekends, and is usually deserted during the week. The beach at least is clean, have not analyzed the water quality. I usually put a rented cot under a shade tree, get beer from the beer stand and smoke a cigar and drink beer with a selected chica.
For that reason, I can spend days in Costambar without leaving.
(That's me. I'm not interested in clubbing at night.)
Costambar is "isolated" from POP, etc., - but you have most of your basic necessities only 5 minutes walk away. Costambar if for guys looking for a laid-back, slow-paced place to chill.

(Others would be bored out of their minds) = SOSUA!

For trips to POP, Maimon, Sosua, etc. I often rent a car when I arrive.
At about $200US a week, its worth it, considering just cabfare arrival/departure will run about $90. these days.
FOD is in the "center" between POP, Sosua, but just going to the nearest store for a bottle of water is going to take much longer than 10 minutes. POP sucks for nightlife, so Sosua and the areas around it are easier/cheaper to reach from FOD. Playa Dorada? Haven't been there since Mangu disco closed.
For those wanting to "get out" more, be it POP or Sosua, FOD is closer.
Just keep in mind you're not walking anywhere for anything.
Share cabs, get introduced to the "public cars" and understand that you'll be using commercial or public transport.
FOD is "isolated" in that it is too far to walk anywhere, but one has better ACCESS to transportation.

Which is more isolated? Coke or Pepsi.
Depends on personal taste.

I'm staying at Blackbeards but always have an open mind about other oportunties so decided to check out Field of Dreams. All I can comment on is what I saw at the time of my visit.

I popped into FOD at about 7pm on a Thursday. I could see only one hotel guest and only one chica, who recognised be from a previous BB visit. She told me many chicas have left BB's and were now working at FOD. She realed of many names , several which I recognised, including some superstars. But none of them were there! Only 1 chica. Good thing there was only one guest!!!

I thought the layout and bar of FOD was good and the rooms looked Ok and it is cheaper than BB's

One major concern was that Fields of Dream was built in the middle of a field. OK. No not OK. In the time I was there, early evening for one drink and a chat, I was bitten to death by mosquitoes. Even the chica was complaining. I know early evening is the worst time for mosquitoes and I also know you get them everywhere in the Dom republic but this was something else. I must be that field.

Having said that I must say that not is all right at BB's. Someone in management has seriously pissed off a lot of chicas and they have left. Including many of the all time favorites. What happened? For sure something has. I know there are new ones and still some nice old ones so a good time is still to be had.

I was annoyed that "long time" now only includes after 9pm to breakfast time and only one visit to the bedroom. My favorite routine used to be to link up with the chica of my choice late afternoon/early evening and then have a round in the bedroom when I was at my best. Followed by dinner together and several drinks then to bed for the night. This now is deemed to be short time followed by long time and two charges! As i'm not the youngest monger on the scene I often find that after a big dinner, several drinks and a late night that I am no longer at my sexual peak. Not good.

Having said all that I'm still having a great time at BB's. When I returned there after my empty visit to FOD the place was rocking. Many guests and even more chicas. everyone happy.

As someone else said different peop-le like different things. For the moment my vote still goes to BBs but it is not as good as it used to be.

and also been Susua. You go to BB for convenient and you go Susua for hunting and there are many hotel to chose in Susua. I have never been in FOD. There is no sense to stay FOD if there are not many girls there. The only point to stay in FOD is that you have your own girl and you want relax your self, and you don't like go anywhere. But for that purpose, you can find Hotel in anywhere and you can buy 2 person package for all inclusive. I never understand why people like FOD so much.

Only 1 chica. Good thing there was only one guest!!!
That is why there was only one chica. If it had been full of guests it would have been full of chicas. Wherever you go in the DR the number of putas fluctuates in proportion to the number of guests. An extreme example was when I was with a car load of guys travelling to SD. We stopped at some bar in the boondocks. Apart from the mesera and a few old guys playing dominos there seemed to be no-one within half-mile. But within minutes five chicas appeared (apparently out of the cane-fields) hoping to entertain the four of us. If you read the report of the recent big party at FoD there were a couple of dozen chicas there. Why? Because there were fifteen or sixteen guys there!

Guys are always asking "will there be enough chicas around at Christmas, Easter, Semana Santa, during peak holiday periods, etc". The answer is always that there will be enough as the puta/punter ratio stays roughly the same.

You may have noticed by now that I am a fan of FoD and will normally defend the place. But I have to agree with you about the mosquitoes. I can understand the management not accepting my complaints but the majority of guys also don't accept they are a problem. I can only assume they affect some people more than others (and me the most!). However by my third stay at Field of Dreams I had learned to manage the problem by using mosquito repellent, by spraying my room each evening before I went out, by making sure the screens were closed before turning on the light, by wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants at sunset, which is the worst time. In subsequent stays they did not bother me, but you have to be aware of the problem and take preventative measures. Also they only appear on certain days, usually the first fine evenings after a rainy spell.

But for that purpose ... you can buy 2 person package for all inclusive. I never understand why people like FOD so much.
My usual plan at FoD was to take one chica for ST in the day and one for TLN. That makes 28 different chicas in two weeks. Best of luck trying to achieve that if staying in an all-inclusive.

But everyone who compares Field of Dreams with Barba Negra or with Sosua hotels like (for example) the Europa or the New Garden is missing the point. It is not that it is better or worse. It is just different, for people who want a different sort of holiday. My first trip I stayed at Barba Negra and loved it. But I chose not to stay there on my next seven trips and would never stay there again because I found something that suited me better. I would never stay in a Sosua town centre hotel. Not if they were free. But lots of guys love them and good luck to them. All we need to do here is post the facts and let guys make up their own mind. FoD is for the minority but it has a loyal following of guys who return time and again.

An honest report of the good and bad experiences one has while staying at the various locations is very helpful for us all. Girls will be around when the guys are there. I have sponsored many special buffets for all the girls and hotel guests at BB's and they all come out of the wood work to attend.

The idea (and reason many many girls have left BB's and many that stay are very unhappy) is that the girls want to be "independant" and not controlled by the hotel. If the hotel controls your hours, decides what you can charge, fines you for being late or taking a day off, forces you to participate in activities that advertise and or promote the hotel I question how "independant" the girls are.

FOD vs. BB's vs. Sosua....different strokes for different folks.

When I was at FOD in April they had an extermination company go through the whole property and sprayed everything, the lawn, the bushes, the trees,I mean these guys sprayed gallons and gallons of shit to control the skeets. Can't blame them for not trying to keep them little bastards under control. I thought BB's was just as bad.

THIS has worked for me at BBQ's and picnics. Get Listerine, put it in a bottle and spray the perimeter. Like magic no mosquitoes, with no use of chemicals........

I will be down in the DR June 4-9. I am regular BB guest so will stay there a few nights and then am trying out FOD for a few days. A bunch of my favorite girls now are regularly at FOD. That will be the comparison test and I will write some reports. I usually rent a car so the FOD isolation is not a big deal to me but these mosquito reports have me worried - never remember much of a problem with them at BB. Is anyone else going to be in Puerto Plata area June 4-9? Get together?

The sea breeze helps BB's get less bugs. At night sitting out by the Volleyball area you can get eaten alive (no pun intended) but there is bug spray at the bar just ask.

I know there is a mamison at FOD and she can help contact anyone you want or if you see a former BB's girl they can call for you. I give the girl who makes the call a few hundred pesos for her time, effort and her phone bill to make the contacts for me.

Look forward to some new reports from FOD as I will not be there until mid July.

I stayed at Field of Dreams for five days in mid July.

For a one hour period in the evening, I'll say between 6:30 and 7:30 pm , the mosquitos do make their presence known.

What worked for me was Sawyer controlled release insect repellent. Avon skin-so-soft, although perfume like, also worked for me.

However, Worf's idea of spraying the perimeter with Listerine, if effective, is better than both of these suggestions. Than you need not put any messy lotion on your skin.

I brought girls from the outside in for my nighttime fun and they all enjoyed the tropical Field of Dreams environment (mini palm trees and aqua blue pool). One girl I've already known for four years, two came after dancing with me at Classico's, and the third I plucked out of Vi Vi Samba in Sosua.

I was going to ask Angelica to call India for me but sadly I ran out of time.

Hey Jaosousa.How goes it. Was in the DR at the same time. next time we should hook up. When I stayed at FOD when it was the Mustang, I would just walk across the street into Playa Dorado & no one gave me a 2nd look. But it is about a 6 - 7 minute walk to the first beach. I have to admit I chuckled when I would see other guys with their "antiguo" wives with the most sour expressions on their faces at the resort beach. I was thinking that their husbands did not know what they were missing. Hey on another note I was with my Dominicana in Juan Dolio and she trreated me to a little 3 way action. We picked up a Chica at a nightclub called Illusions on the highway at the west end of town. 2000dp for 3 hours of near coronary activity;

From FOD enter by the east entrance and when you get to the point where the road turns west there is a cutoff that goes to the beach.

This goes to the Fun Royale section of the beach which is the eastern most section of Playa Dorada.

Go further east and there are some nice stretches of beach there.

A little further and there are a couple of places where you can get some food and drinks and chicas too.

There are also jetski rentals there but they are quite expensive.

There is no parking there so if you are driving you will have to park at the plaza and walk to the west side of the helicopter field and get access there.

If you look like a gringo and dress and behave respectably you can wander in with no problems. Twelve minutes walk to Playa Dorada beach from Field of Dreams but if you turn right once on the seashore and wade (kneehigh) across the little stream which borders Playa Dorada you will be on almost deserted public beaches. This photo was taken at midday in peak holiday season when Playa Dorada itself was packed. (You can see Playa Dorada in the background where the trees are). Ten minutes walk further would bring you to Bergantin (spelling?) beach. Bergantin village is gone as most of the residents were deported to the new project at Montellano but I believe there is still a beach shack selling fresh-cooked fish and local drinks. I did not eat on my first visit as the lady helping with the cooking was also giving handjobs for 200 pesos and there was no obvious place for her to wash her hands afterwards, but on a later visit I had an excellent meal of camerones.

(BOY, JACKSON YOU OWE ME BIG-TIME!)

"Hey guys,

Sorry to ask this here but anybody knows the current price structure for chicas at bbs. I was there a few years ago and you could negotiate with the girls and they paid management a monthly fee to work there. Now I hear that what is tln (as far as when it begins or ends is set by management) possibly forcing you to pay two fees. I am used to taking a girl in the morning spending all day and night with her and kicking her out the next morning and paying maybe $100 if I am also paying for food. The price oviously varies depending on your game but do they have some sort of price and time structure now? If so I might just do Sosua instead."

Not sure about your previous experience there, and I doubt anyone has made a fixed rule, what constitutes "Toda La Noche" TLN, but typically, it would be from evening, overnight until breakfast, or about 10-11 am.
Such a period was normally 2500 pesos, differences more/less depending on negotiation, how well things went, etc.

If you spent what sounds like 24 hours with a chica you got a pretty good deal, as, depending on currency rates, US$100 is from 3000 to 3500 pesos, and depending on the level of activity, she might have made more money in that time. Considering a ST, just an hour or two, would be about 1300 or so pesos.

As of last summer, there were still no rules on that, so it would still be a matter of negotiation (what you expect, how many other clients are there, and how ugly you are :)

I had the pleasure of staying at BB's again. It was still a nice play to stay. This time booked the Deluxe Room, which I recommend as it was a bit bigger than the standard room. No roosters to be heard either where I was.

The shower got clogged by my last day, but I was leaving so didn't care. Other than that, the hot water took a while to kick in but eventually did just fine.

The food once again was standard, nothing great, but nothing terrible either. Just solid for price you pay.

I have decided though now that after my second trip that the bar closes to early as does the kitchen. Sometimes I like an after hours drink at the bar area and seems things close a bit early there. Still, the fridge has what you need. Also, during weekends it would be nice to grab a bite to eat with your girl or friends at 12am, but it closes way to early. Especially after having some drinks.

The girl selection was decent, with a few nice ones mixed in with the average ones. Standard pricing as I fail to negotiate too much and just roll with short time for 40 bucks and TLN for 80. Tip as how the girls performs and nice she is. I did notice more girls though being it was a weekend so the selection better during my time.

Service wise, mixed as usual. Some good, some boring, some whatever you want. Still, I find that the freaky sessions don't happen much at BB's compared to other experiences and I end up more a GFE type sessions with some girls and routine with others. I think just the constant action makes for more relaxed atmosphere at night sometimes.

Overall. Another fun and great experience. No problems with anything really and enjoyed myself. I love the simple and easy atmosphere to the stay at BB's. Also, this time there were more hotter girls than my last stay, but I also noticed they disappeared quickly as well. Still, plenty of time to grab them and set a time aside as wanted. There was one girl though I really wanted but was with one guy for like 3 days straight which was annoying. Share the wealth boys. Share the wealth!

Thanks, Bud.
If I may make a suggestion?
I know a lot of guys don't bother to get names, becaue they don't
care about the chica's name or maybe butcher the spelling.

But if guys could provide reviews of chicas and include names, it would be of
value/interest when dealing with new, unfamiliar girls.
Thanks!

This is NOT the main Playa Dorada gate but just goes to a parking area next to a beach with some houses and next to the golf course. Some local shops on the beach etc and some local renting beach chairs etc. Deserted and a very nice beach.

Not I understand what you mean by "comfortable", but I think you will find the atmosphere very relaxed compared to other places. All the girls are different, but you need to spend a little time to find the ones you feel most comfortable with. Some can be very sweet, others only business.
You will find a good variety to choose from.
If you treat them like trash, you will get little in return. If you treat them
like your girlfriend, they treat you like a king.

Yes there has been an increase in cost from 1300 to 1500 and 2700 to 3000 about a week or so ago.

There are many girls that will not do oral without latex. BB's sponsors several visits each year from the Health Dept. for the girls as part of the girls education etc. They are told over and over the risks involved if the man is not covered. Make sure you discuss this in advance.

Most of us have experienced first hand the shock of the "lost condom"! It was there when you started but some how during the act it went missing!!! The girl quickly runs to the bathroom to go searching for it.....its up there somewhere. A buddy of mine now brings his own personal accident insurance....the morning after pill....just in case. I will do that on my next trip as well.

Intercourse unprotected is just not wise....for either person. I do not know about others but I do not want to be a Daddy or bring home an STD. There are some girls, I hate to say it, that would love to have you get them pregnant....they all know where the Western Union office is.

When I get to the point of being "very, very stupid" I don't enjoy or (at times) remember my encounter with the chica. I have also run into the chicas getting a little wasted and the perfomance drops. I am not into that either.

I have had the latex break and it was not pleasant. Sweating out STD tests and wondering if there is going to be a little "Ponderosa" wandering around the DR is not my idea of fun. (I was lucky on both counts).

I'm guessing... "bareback"When a chic gets comfortable with you barebacking is an option, but it also comes with having to sweat an std test later when you realize she fucks for a living.Unless you live there and have both been tested, you are rolling the dice.

I have been worried about an overall cost increase in everything considering all the work they say is being done in the newsletter.I think alot of the improvements to the facility are due more to competition than anything else. Field of Dreams is starting to look like a very attractive option for the BB type monger. There is no doublt that Lino improved the facility during his tenure with the place, and now that Alberto has it back it has gone to a chica friendly format. It definitely is a place I am thinking about more seriously. I am just waiting for some first hand reports before I commit.

As to the improvements at BBs, it is about time they got a generator that worked the A/C in the main building when power goes out in the streets and improvements to the kitchen are always welcome. Putting in seperate A/C units and walls instead of a divider in the delux doubles is long overdue for the guys who share rooms. I have not seen any of these improvements first hand, but they have been announced in the BB newsletter.

I am going down to the DR for a few days shortly and I will see for myself any changes at BBs. My time is too short to try FOD and take a chance it is not what I want. Again I am looking forward to reports there.

What about Crystals? Its not to far from BB's. Has anybody been there in the last few months. Don't they have rooms?

They have rooms on site, 3500 RD for girls and room, one shot on goal or 4900 RD for take out TLN. You can go during the day and sit at the outside bar by the pool or wait until the club opens at night. Usually have some 9's on duty but mostly 6's or 7's.
