You Can,

Now if I could only find a place for tonight's Celtics ass-kicking of the over hyped Heat.

Mani,

Who is running that now? A few months ago it was an American named Bobby but a Brit seems to be in charge now. Do they have soccer coverage?

I've been to BB's 3 times and almost none of the chicas speak English. According to my latest newsletter from BB's they have a new mamasan who is supposed to be fluent so that might help you out alot. I speak good Spanish myself and find that helps me get a better short time GFE thing going as they seem to enjoy my personal questions about their lives back home. On average there might be 1-2 chicas with passable English and one or 2 more with decent spanglish skills. Hope this helps the board.

It is kind of difficult for them to talk with your balls smacking their chin.

How much is this gonna set me back? The quickest way to get anywhere is going to be by taxi. I did STI to Costambar for 2000 pesos by taxi last week and am still here. If you decide to go by bus do to the price keep in mind it will cost you around 25-30 dollars just to get to the bus terminal from the airport by taxi, the taxista's at the airport are thieves so by the time you pay for both a bus ticket and taxi to the terminal you would have paid about 35 dollars at least. I don't mind taking the bus in the DR at all, they are clean, modern and all have good a/c but by the time you pay for the bus ticket and taxi in this case I prefer a taxi and in your case you don't have a lot of time to waste.

I think the reason your numbers are low is because if you speak decent spanish the girls won't admit to speaking english,I don't know why this is but it is certainly true because when I first came to the DR I spoke zero spanish now I speak a decent amount and girls that I hang with that I KNOW speak some english will say to me that they don't speak any even though i know differently.

Clyde ("the Glide"),

You have three decent options:

1) Taxi, around $80 to $100 USD each way. This is the safest and most efficient method of transport, but also the most expensive. Always confirm/negotiate prices with taxi drivers before you leave. Taxi drivers will normally negotiate in USD. I am assuming you are going to BBs in Costambar, and it may be worth your while to contact them and inquire if they can arrange a taxi pick up in Santiago and the price.

2) Rent a car. I checked on www.vacationoutlet.com and checked Alamo with the $15 weekend discount Nov. 19 to 22, economy car with liability insurance, came to just under $80. With gas you should be at about $100 total here and you have the flexibility to have wheels while in Costambar. If you have never driven in the DR or any third world country, I do not recommend this option. People drive like idiots here and if you are the least bit squeamish on this option, don't do it. Always get liability and if your credit card does not cover comp/collision, get that too. With full coverage, now your total bill is approaching $140 and does not seem as attractive vs. the taxi. The drive is not too bad, especially when you get out of the city and when done during daylight hours. Signage sucks in the DR and my normal phrase for explaining driving here is "like driving in New York City, on steroids".

3) Take a taxi to the bus terminal (both Caribe Bus and Metro Bus are good options http://dominicanrepublic-guide.info/getting.around/buses ). Take the bus to Puerto Plata and then taxi to Costambar. Taxi to bus terminal about $25 ti $30, bus to Puerto Plata less than $10 and taxi to Costabar about $25. This option is around $60 to $65 each way. If you are really leaving at 1am on Monday, this may be a one way option only and taxi back.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

M911,

This is just one instance of the true value of this board (and I am not saying this tongue in cheek). 2000 pesos is in the $55 USD range.

It is just culling through the other stuff to get to that "value" that gets tedious. I am not pointing fingers here, I can be as guilty as anybody for the inane stuff.

I may pm you for those #s one day.

This will be my first time down, and at this exact moment I don't have enough, LOL, to fly into POP so I'm going to try STI to avoid any increases (it has went up $15 since last night) the flight leavin STI leaves early so I'm guessing I shouldn't chance it so I'm flyin out of POP. Looking at the reviews of the Hodelpa Gran Almirante, it somehow seems like my kind of place so I'm going to spend a night there and then make my trek to BB's. So does the bus run or not up north or is there a reasonable taxi for my journey to BB's.

Any help would be appreciated.

step out of the Gran Almirante on Febrero 27th and take a motorconcho, keep your wallet close to your body, women are notorious pickpockets, and share a ride with a car full of people to the Rotunda. There you will pick up a guagau, small bus, to POP. The bus will leave you at the corner of the road leading to BB's. Take a motar', motorbike taxi, from there. Or you can take a taxi from the Hotel to the same place, cost should be around 2 to 300 pesos. The bus will be around 100 pesos. A taxi from the Gran Almirante would cost about 2 to 3000 pesos. Or, the cost of a good all nighter. The small buses are safe and the scenery is great.

I have done bussiness with Alexis when he was on Margarite Island Venezuela. He advirtised, just like he is now that he had this whole resort that housed only his clients.
It was all a lie!!
He put us in a family resort that he had a block of rooms set aside for his clients. While I was there, there was a summer camp for kids going on so I would have to wade through an ocean of kids, with my chica, to get around the resort.
As far as I am concerned, Alexis is a liar and a thief!!

I don't have any direct experience of Alexis, just hearsay, none of it good, but I would make a more general observation. Why would anyone ever want to pay a middleman a large cut when accommodation and chicas on the North Coast are as cheap now as they have ever been in recent decades in real terms? Finding both at reasonable prices is so easy using info on this and other websites.

And if the middleman is of dubious honesty that makes it even stranger to me. OK, the owners of Blackbeards and Passions and the Man-Tour guy are such middlemen but they normally give good service and only add on a modest premium for doing so, which is acceptable.

The only exception I would make is for guys who are seriously rich and their time is worth a thousand dollars a minute. Then I can see the point of overpaying someone to run around for you. But I guess guys like that don't need to come on sites like this.

Thanks to Charles Pooter and FirstDude for their replies - much appreciated.

I understand the "why pay the middle man" concept. It was one that I usually practice, and I am not rich - although not poor - but the convience of BB etc on a short stay when you do not speak Spanish is worth the "reasonable" extra you speak of to me.

Again, thank you for your reply.

Cahill: The time between Christmas thru New Years day more or less can be dead time. Chicas go home with their families for New Years Eve and the scene drops off considerably. Its a local cultural thing. I was at BB's last year from 26 De 09 thru 3 Jan and the girls popped smoke and ran off for New Years Eve. I watched as they had to pay their fines to mngt over the next few days for violating their contract. Don't get me wrong, BB's is just GREAT but this time frame the scene drops off some, not just there, but countrywide as well. Yes, I'm sure you'll still find some action but if given a choice I would avoid this last week in December and try for earlier or after New Years. Also, they celebrate "Little Christmas" in the first week of January and that could be slower too. I'm pretty sure this happens all over Central and South America. If you must go on these dates, just be prepared for a bit slower scene. Any ex-pat members care to elaborate? Correct me if I'm off base. Be safe down there.

Generally, I avoid traveling to the DR (and Latin America) from Dec. 15 - Jan. 15. Around Christmas and New Year's, the women disappear and the flight, hotel, and car rental prices skyrocket. Also, the lines and luggage problems at SDQ can be a nightmare!

IMHO, around Christmas and New Years, I would rather be home in the USA.

Politely disagree. Been around xmas/new years and there was only a slight change. Will do everything to avoid full parking lots, idiocy of a boxing day, and winter gloom. Any LA cemetery is 100 times festive than any NA 'holiday'

I can't vouch for it being the BEST place but Rancho Tipico Don Memo (previously Cubacubano) has a few girls available to take out. If you don't see anyone you like, the manager will soon find you one. They open at 10 am and is situated just off the main road to Santiago at the San Marco turnoff.
Then you have a smart new cabana just past the University called La Rocka. I never heard of cabanas providing girls but you could always ask (tel 809-970-3029)

DR Nights was professional in all of our dealings, as you would expect from the apparent second largest agency in the country. I contacted Marc months early because I wanted a girl to join me at a nudist resort who spoke English. He said there shouldn't be a problem, just look at the girls in their "Local Services" list and fill in the reservation form. I looked and made notes of the English speakers but didn't make a reservation right then because I expected there might be some turn over during the intervening months.

When I finally made my reservation I sent them the names of four girls who were bi-lingual but then I didn't hear back. I finally called and my reservation was still open because I hadn't entered my flight information. I explained that I was coming in two weeks before I needed the girl and leaving a week after we parted. They apologized for the mistake and my reservation was immediately processed. They ran my credit/debit card and my bank suspended my account for the second time, afraid someone had stolen my card. I straightened out my bank but it was suggested to me by experienced travelers that I should have notified my bank that I was planning to travel out of the country so they wouldn't be so paranoid. (And they could give me a list of banks in the country of destination that were on their network.)

One bit of confusion with the website was that they only have actual offices in Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. On the website they list a bunch of places a girl can be delivered to but you have to pay a delivery fee. I needed to do some sight seeing in Puerto Plata so I scheduled to pick up Larimar in Playa Dorada at Coco Bongo. Buying a local phone and purchasing twelve dollars worth of minutes proved very helpful as Coco Bongo filled up with Anglos just before our appointment time. Apparently (Max) was early and waited for half an hour before he called me. (I'd been there an hour, had lunch and drinks.) Larimar was the girl in the picture but she's had her breasts enlarged since the picture was taken. She was great, snuggling and kissing in the taxi all the way to the resort. She'd never been to a nudist resort and it took some getting used to but she remembered that Marc had told her she didn't need to bring any clothes as she would be naked the whole time. (She brought two bags and an over stuffed suitcase that was even more stuffed with two dinner costumes and a Playboy towel I had given her before she left.)

Larimar was great, very affectionate, outgoing and considerate (she made sure I was satisfied at least twice a day). But she didn't get naked in public. She was naked in the room and she wore a sheer beach dress but until she saw that other women had implants she was embarrassed to take off her bra. Then she had it off the rest of the day. We almost had sex on the beach but she was too shy. But back in the room she wasn't shy in the least and she told me later how much she'd enjoyed the foreplay on the beach.

Her English was far from perfect but she was easy to understand and she made sure that people understood my poor Spanish and that I got what I had ordered.

Negatives

The forms on the website require specific information that might not match your situation and their computer won't process a reservation until all the boxes are filled. Also they require a credit card to process a deposit (Unless you have worked with them before) even in you're in country and minutes away. (And they want to photocopy your credit card and passport so their credit company has no questions about your order being real.)

In Conclusion

Larimar and DR Nights lived up to their hype and I couldn't be happier.

I have read a thousand posts about Blackbeards. I have never been to BB. I am curious to see Blackbeards in person. I will probably drive to Puerto Plata some time next week for the day. I have not driven to Costambar before. I have driven from Santiago to Puerto Plata, but not in in a few years.

I assume as i get close to Puerto Plata (near Ocean World), when coming from Santiago, I should see a sign for Costambar (going left off the highway when coming from Santiago).

Driving to BB is straightforward off that highway from Santiago?

I will have a semi-pro Dominicana with me. I assume it will not be a problem to stop in BB and have a few beers with my chica. I assume there is a bar there and the Dominicana who I bring with me will not get dirty looks from the BB chicas.

From BB I will try to meet up with Mr Pooter and give him a few tubes of lube (for use on his Haitian Princesses).

I know Crystals in Puerto Plata, near the malecon. El Bohem I don't know where it is located.

Thanks for any information.

When are you coming? I have a lot going on at present with apartment move and refurbishments and a new school I am starting for Haitian refugees' children but if I am free I could meet you at some agreed point on the highway (best would be Provocon opposite the University) and guide you to Blackbeards, El Bohen or anywhere else in the area. Email me if interested. Wednesday afternoon and evening I'm booked.

Otherwise, it is not entirely straightforward inside Costambar but you could easily ask the locals. Your chica need not pay to enter Blackbeards. She won't get dirty looks but maybe some inquisitive ones. She will probably have to pay to enter El Bohen and will certainly need ID at both locations.

Drinks are expensive at Blackbeards and astronomical at El Bohen.

I know Crystals in Puerto Plata, near the malecon. El Bohem I don't know where it is located.

Thanks for any information.

You are right that it is pretty close to Ocean World (Confresi Beach). You will pass by the large sign for Ocean World on your right as you come from Santiago to the PP area. Within 5 minutes or so, the main road will widen from 2 to 4 lanes and you will see Zona Franca (sp?) on the right. If memory serves correct, you will see two roads on the left within a couple minutes with small Brugal signs pointing you to Costambar. I like taking the second road to the left and it almost immediately turns into a dirt road. Depending on the rains for the week or month, it can be a real "pleasure" to navigate all the ruts and potholes on your way to Costambar. You will pass by a branch of the road to the right that goes to a small Haitian villiage, stay left and you will reach the main gate to Costambar. It is about a mile off the main road total.

Go through the main gate and then straight past Jenny's market on the right and a small plaza with a pharmacy on the left. There are no signs pointing you to BBs, but follow the sign posts to Atlantic One Apartments. When you reach Atlantic One, you will see Sola Mia restaurant on a road to the right. Proceed right on that road and follow it around the bend to the left and BBs is on the left a few hundred yards past the bend with a large "Barba Negra" sign on the right.

Many expats with their significant others stop at the bar and dining area and there is no problem with that. Towards the evening hours they may ask to see your chica's cedula, but that is no problem. The other girls there may assume you are bringing in your own, but really it is no problem.

Hope this helps.

Couple of years ago I stayed in Sosua with my friend. We were curious about BB. I always rent a car there. General directions to Costamber is here. Once you get into Costamber , there is a arched gateway. We went around noon time to catch the swimsuit competition they have often. On the way we asked the locals for directions specifying "barbara negra".
The place is gated with a bar and restaurent, pool, jacuzzi and several tables and chairs with umbrellas. There is a building with rooms. We sat at the table and a waitress came and took our order. Couple of girls came and sat with us. We bought them some drinks and we had a nice chat. They explained about the whole procedure and prices thinking we just came in and were staying there. They lost interest in us pretty much when we said we are just visiting. The show is ok. Would not repeat the visit again.
Overall I found it is a brothel with a hotel and restaurent. Everything is available in house for anybody who is not interested in the "chase".
As for me I like the thrill of the chase and like to visit many places and pick up different women.

Perfect. Thank you. Blackbeards (B. B.) appears on the Google Dominican Republic map. Also Eden Bay Nudist (E. B.) appears on the Google Map. Seems Eden Bay is not too far from Blackbeards.

During midweek the beach at Costambar should be quiet and Blackbeards should be a good spot to have a few beers and maybe some food. I will be driving up from Santo Domingo and then returning to Santiago later that night.

Jao when im traveling from Sosua to Costambar my landmark for the entrance is you will cross a bridge and there is a big yellow house on rhe right, thats where you turn right. Reverse this when traveling 5 from Santiago.

Your going to pass the casino. When you see a bidge coming up look for the big yellow house on the left( you cant miss it) turn left at the road before the house. Youll be on this bumpy as road that will split, stay left and when you get to the hill Constambar is at the top.

As your going up the hill at the top is an outdoor restaurant on the left before Constambars entrance, Lue is the owner tell her I said hello(you know my DR name) and have a meal.

PWhen I stayed in Costambar two weeks ago the main road off the highway that leads to the gate was closed do to construction, you had to take the road that is between Provocon and the University. Once you take the right at the elementary school the road is atrocious.

As far as bringing a girl into BB's is concerned, I have brought many girls into BB's but no doubt she will get plenty of stares from the girls working there. Give her a few pesos and drop her off at the nail salon before going.

coming from Santiago:
"As you get close to Puerto Plata, you will see the entrance to Playa Cofresi on the left hand side. About a mile and a half farther on, you will see an industrial complex on the right hand side and a stoplight that does not work.

Turn left at the stoplight

This will take you into Costambar. Once you are through the gated entrance, keep on the main road. You will pass Jenny's Supermarket on the right hand side and Pharmacy on the left hand side. About 300 yards farther on, the road splits. Take the left fork and go past the Taxi stand. Turn right at the first road. Follow this road and turn right at the 3 rd street ( Calle Enriquillo ). We are about 100 yards up on the right hand side."

Need some advise please. I am going to be flying into POP on the 28th of Nov. and staying until Dec.3rd and want to stay in Costambar,BB's only has double rooms available ($99) so I am looking to stay elsewhere. I am traveling solo this time so I don't want to rent a villa. Has anyone stayed at Atlantic One before and if so does their A/C work when the street power is off which is 50% of the time in Costambar. I was going to look into L'oase but they are way too far off the beaten path.

Any other suggestions will be helpful.

Atlantic One looks Ok and have had friends stay there long term but they didnt have a/c. They do have a "Planta", though.
I also had a friend stay here...

I cannot believe you would get fussed about A/C this time of the year. I had to add an extra sheet a week ago and if it gets any cooler I might have to add an extra haitiana.

Now had you asked "do they have ceiling fans?" I would agree with you.

La Bohem, El Bohem, La Bohen? There is a new neon sign out front that says "Bohen Nightclub", so I guess that's the official name.

Getting there is a little tricky. From Santiago, turn left at the third stop light. That's locally known as "La Javilla". Don't bear right, like many of the cars -- keep going straight. You will see a car wash on the left. Keep going -- look for the neon sign on the left. That's "Bohen". You can park on the street or have them open the gate and let you park inside for better security.

Lately I've noticed the quality and quantity of chicas at Bohen getting better and better. For me, at Bohen and Crystal's there is too much emphasis on picking a chica and going up to a room right away. If you want to get to know them in the bar, then your drink tab becomes astronomical. There are some other spots in Puerto Plata worth checking out also.

The discotecas around the dock (El Muelle) are open and often busy during the day. Clubs are Consulado, La Fragrancia, and a couple of others.

These clubs don't see many foreigners. People will be curious about you. Others may try to scam you, especially if you've never been there before. Common sense rules apply. It's a good idea to have a wing man who is going to stay sober.

The price of a large Presidente is 90 pesos at most of the clubs. A bartender might try to overcharge a foreigner and assume it's a "tip". Another scam: a chica comes over and you buy her drinks. She orders something different (a thimbleful of wine over ice is one choice). Before you know it, you're paying for 10 drinks at 150 or 200 pesos a pop. Yes, the chica gets a percentage of the bill.

When you go into any club, don't let an employee or a chica lead you around. They will typically try to steer you to a table right away and get you started drinking. Instead say "no thanks" and head to the bar. That gives you a chance to check out the entire situation and decide whether or not you want to stay. Order a drink at the bar, pay for it and count you change. Don't run a tab.

When it comes time to pick a chica, you can then pick her and not the other way around (like for instance if one traps you at a table). Offer to split you beer with her. Then you can relax, get to know her and decide if you want to take her out or go with her to a back room. The typical salida fee is 500 pesos to the bar. If they try to charge you more just start leaving without the chica -- they will change their mind on the price.

Chicas at the above places range from fugly, to cutie. Unfortunately you have to look at and say no to a lot of fuglies before you get to the cuties.

Can anyone tell me what the best place is to find chicas in POP during the daytime to take them to the cabanas at the edge of town? Or do the cabanas provide them as well? Any info much appreciated. Will be in POP next week.

great post and great advice. i live very near those places and used to visit them a lot, though less frequently these days. (the third bar is called placer). my two highspots were meeting my present novia there and meeting the man tour guy there!

i actually learned something too because i never head for the bar first, but may do so in future. especially at el consulado which is very dark and when you walk in out of the sunlight it is hard to get your bearings. i have sometimes been shown to a table which turned out to be not in the best position for surveying the bar.

be aware these are tiny shitholes and not for the squeamish. i took a new friend there the other day who has travelled all round the world including africa and asia and he said el consulado was the worst bar he had ever visited. mind you, he made the mistake of going in the toilet! i have been in one or other of those three adjacent bars at least a hundred times and have yet to visit the toilet and i am 70 years old. what is the matter with the young studs these days, can't they hold their [CodeWord134] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord134)?

on the other hand i have been with other guys who had a great time there, especially if they can dance the local dances (bachata, merengue, salsa or reggaeton).

i cannot stress too much that finding an attractive chica in these three bars is like panning for gold. most of the girls are fat, ugly or both. but you can find a nice one for 1000 st or 1500 tln if you are patient. the salida is 500 in el consulado and la fragrancia and 400 in placer. no-one has ever tried to charge me different and, yes, dominicans do pay that price as well.

i have never been scammed or robbed there (except for a bottle of cough medicine they must have thought was some exotic liqueur) but keep your stuff buttoned up and pay your check from small bills in one pocket. keep you main stash out of sight in a different pocket. if you get drunk all bets are off, though.

i also think man-tour guy is being optimistic when saying they are "busy" during the day. except at weekends there are usually only about 4 customers and about 8 to 10 staff up to 6.00pm and the atmosphere is depressing (as when my friend visited). but, again, i have gone in with four gringos and we got a real party atmosphere going with curious chicas coming in from the adjacent bars.

yep, it's like panning for gold. you have to go look at a lot of girls, but when you find a gold nugget -- wow. there is one girl called luna at esteban sonido right now for example. what a body!

i haven't actually been chica hunting during the day at those places, but i drive by frequently just to check out the level of activity -- they are open and the music is blasting, usually there are chicas hanging around outside.

crystals is open during the day at their pool and outside bar, but not many chicas are around. i imagine they are asleep, because they keep late hours.

Jose is gone, the new guy , Chris is real cool.
Other than that, BB's is the place to go.

If you want to explore during the day, the hotel will show you where to go.

How's your Spanish?
(Most important) Do you prefer a "downtown" vacation or a "secluded resort"?

Blackbeard's is a "secluded resort". It has its own restaurant, bar and disco. The girls are vetted by the management; they're clean and drama-free, and you have recourse if you have any disappointments. The restaurant is good, the disco is pretty lively, and they boast the biggest Jacuzzi on the island. There's a lot to like. But it is in an "exclusive gated community" setting, and there aren't many alternatives to their restaurant and their chicas; and you pay Blackbeard's prices for your midnight rides. ;)

Tierra Linda is a block from The Block in Sosua. The hotel looks nice from the outside, but I didn't look inside (I was staying in the New Garden, next door). You have a wide variety of restaurants and bars within a couple hundred meters, and you have a lot more to do because it is a resort town. Pedro Clisante was crawling with chicas in October, though it may be changing. You can probably do better than Blackbeard's prices, but you have to be on top of your game. I felt I had to be more 'on guard' in Sosua, and I made some 'wrong choices' that were disappointing - but I also was five minutes' walk from Scuba Elite, and I enjoyed the mornings diving in Sosua Bay.

My first trip (June) was all at Blackbeard's and I enjoyed it right well. My second trip (October) was four nights in Sosua, followed by three at BB's, and I enjoyed both venues. Next trip I'll likely do much the same.

Everything your saying is true, except for the restaurants. There is an italian restaurant around the corner that is very good. Also a cab ride away are 2 really good restaurants before you get to Ocean world casino. Also there is a good restaurant on the same road as Ocean world, its on the right and its right on the ocean. I cant remember the names, but the manager at BB will be more then happy to give you the names.

You Can and Sir Charles are right.

The Italian place right near BBs in Costambar is Sola Mia. Walking distance and very nice. Also there is a very nice small restaurant/bakery open for breakfast and lunch that I highly recommend right in Costambar. It is owned by a German and his Domincan wife. She bakes some delicious German meals and baked goods that are to die for. I had a cheese cake there one time and she even made the cheese for the cake from scratch. It is on the first road to the left as you just enter the gates to Costambar and before you get to Jenny's. It is about 1000 feet on the right. I go there for some delicious treats to take back to BBs.

The restaurants referred to near Ocean World (Confresi Beach) are Chris and Mady's and a Mexican place. I have not done the Mexican place, but Chris and Mady's is well priced and I love their fish dishes there. It is run by a Canadian ex-pat and his Dominican wife and family. As an aside, you can also go there to see most sporting events and they have wi-fi. Their portions are so large I many times order one meal and me and my chica split the dish.

In La Roca there is a pizza place/sports bar (never been) and Los Tres Coco's. Los Tres Coco's is an upscale restaurant with a Canadian owner/chef. Well priced for what you get and the food is great. There are some tables out of the main dining area that are very quiet and romantic with the right Chica. North American fare is their specialty. They were the first restaurant I visited in the DR that I had steak and it tasted like, well, real steak (a true rarity in the DR).

La Roca is the next small town off the main highway towards Santiago and Confresi Beach follows that. Both towns are very close to Costambar and a short taxi ride away.

I have friends that have gone to Papion (sp?) near La Roca (higher class and prices) and in Ocean World itself there is another restaurant out of my price range.

Another great informative post, as many times as I have been down there I missed the "very nice small restaurant/bakery" that sounds good. I will have to find that I just cant picture the location in my head.

I cant recommend Los Tres Coco's enough. The food is awesome and the layout of the place is awesome, I mean really awesome!!!! plus there is a cabana right there. A cool place to go...the only draw back is the cost. I have been there three times and each time it was over 50 bucks a person. Yes we ordered a bottle or two of wine but still if you take a girl it is over 100 US, which by DR standards is a small fortune.

"Not many alternatives" was my statement. Maybe your intuitive definition of "many" is different from mine.

Let's go for a walk about Costambar ... I've seen two restaurants on the beach (or one restaurant and one bar); maybe the Harley place has its restaurant open; the German bakery, and two other restaurants, up by Jenny's Super-colmado; the Sole Mio, and the breakfast-lunch place (Rita's?) across from Sole Mio. Eight? Maybe a couple more that I haven't noticed. Let's say ten restaurants, within a ten-minute walk of BB's?

Ten is "not many" in my book. "Many," for me, starts at twenty or more.

I don't mean to be disagreeable; my only point was that Barba Negra and Costambar present a different scene from Sosua and Avda. Pedro Clisante. I went to Sosua, last month, for more than the night moves (I enjoy scuba diving, and the excursions from Blackbeard's went to Sosua); I went to Blackbeard's, afterwards, to "decompress" from Sosua. And I definitely appreciated and enjoyed the contrast.

I was just pointing out that there were more then the restaurant at BB. I always rent a car and go out to cabarete beach during the day and back to bb for a shower at night, pic out a chica take her to dinner and the casiono or a club then back to BB for some rolling around in the bed. I have stayed in Sosua and have had good times there, but I have to deal with alot of idiots there, so I have to be in the mood for all the bullshit. When in Sosua I like to eat at Baileys. Westy, I don't think that this restaurant thing is whether or not there is a plethora of places to eat or not near BBs, at least it wasn't for me, but rather to point out there are a few alternatives. The board is for info, and even like Doker said, he didn't there was a restaurant/bakery anywhere nearby. This is why I like the board, for information.

The biggest complaint for most people visiting Costambar is that BBs is "in the middle of nowhere". In many ways that is true, but to me that can be one of its charms too. I get a little stir crazy there just like many others, but it is nice to know that there are as many as 10 different places somewhat nearby to eat as a change of pace and scenery. Costambar is a small gated community, period. I like that. Sosua is different. There are BBs kind of guys, Sosua kind of guys, SD kind of guys. Some go after the hard core pros, some for the semi-pro and others for the "non" pro. Others go the novia route. A lot of guys mix it up between the alternatives. To each there own. IMHO guys were just chiming in with alternatives to eat, nothin' else.

My 2 cents,

P

They already went after BB. BB used to have photos of chicas on their website and due to a crackdown they had to remove them from their website. I am pretty sure someone else will know the story better than I but, I am pretty sure this happened because I heard about it locally in the DR.

There is no reason to think BB's will have any problems associated with the "crackdown" in Sosua, or on the streets of SD. This is about appearances. Prostitution is not illegal. BB's seems to have fit in well in Costambar. Even in Sosua it's about things getting a little unseemly on the main commercial street, not an anti-sex crusade.

It's about being discreet, something Americans seem to have trouble with. There are P4P chicas available everywhere in the DR but not visible from the street to a casual observer. The website issue is a good example. BB's has a tendency to be a little more open about it than is acceptable but overall they've fit in very well.

I haven't heard anything for the last couple of years but for many years previously the police would raid Blackbeards from time to time. I think it was an amicable cosmetic exercise, never affecting the guests, and a couple of days later everything was back to normal.

As my trip is drawing nearer, I just wanna know from our guys in town: is there anything "not business as usual" due to the presumed spread of the disease to DR?

Honestly, should I be worried? I mean, in all my travels I always try to avoid getting tap water in my mouth anyway, but what do you, guys, do about ice? I mean warm cuba-libra sounds kinda nauseating, no? Do you know if all-inclusives use spring water to make ice (staying at lifestyle)? Would appreciate any tips at this point.

Honestly, should I be worried? ......

The answer is No! It has hardly "spread" to the DR yet with just one case in isolation in Higuey, the other side of the country.
As far as using tap water for ice making, I certainly don't and I'm sure the All Inclusives don't either. Anyway, they probably buy their ice in from commercial Ice Plants.

Enjoy your stay! I would be more worried about getting good weather, as it is a bit of a lottery at the moment.

I still don't have the hang of searching the thread for the answers to my questions. If this is out of line of board ethics, my apologies up front.

I guess my main question would be which do you prefer. Punta cana or puerto plata? I am going to be staying in one of these areas although I am not sure which one yet.

Which one has better daytime action? (as I am more of a daytime guy and like to spend my nights relaxing).

How close to the action is Iberostar to the action? (Iberostar punta cana in punta cana and Iberostar Costa Dorada in punta cana)

Which is better for my type of woman (I prefer light skinned and thick)?

Last but not least (since its a bucket list item), Do the usually usually go for other woman? I have read that the best way is to pick one chick you want and let her pick the other chick, which I am cool with. I guess I am just trying to figure out what is the best way to go about it.

Any help you can bestow upon me will be greatly appreciated. I know they say to take the road less traveled, But I would prefer to follow in the footsteps of the great men who came before me.

Even that one case turned out to be not cholera. There will inevitably be some cases, but cholera is relatively easy to cure and control once the authorities are aware there is a threat. The problem in Haďti is that there is no effective authority and no infrastructure. Even the DR's ramshackle health system should be able to cope easily. You are far more likely to be involved in a traffic accident (if that is any comfort!)

Ice sold in all bars and restaurants is pure and they can all use pure ice because it is extremely cheap. It has not been a source of health problems for a decade. Watch out how they handle it, though, but that is a problem common to all edibles, not just ice.

Ponderosa, You Can, Sir Charles -

I was being priggish about the definition of one word. Nolo contendere.

Stipulated and agreed, there are several good alternatives to dining at Blackbeard's, and I may check them out on my next visit. Sole Mio looks tempting; what about that place just down the street past Jenny's (Calypso?) I guess the Harley Rock place has a dining room as well, and I never did stop in either at Pascual's or that larger restaurant on the beach.

Actually, the only place I have eaten on Costambar was at Barba Negra - and I found their dining room highly satisfactory. (Good enough that I've seen the neighbors brave the punters to dine there as well.) I recommend the Bandera Dominicana, and the chili is also pretty darn good.... So much for being a "hungry m**f**".

As for me, the item that worries me the most is whether or not there will be "something to eat" in Sosua when/if I return. I would actually go there just for the scuba-diving, as I am fond enough of tropical diving to want to combine it into any North Coast vacation. I think we'll all agree that's more important than counting restaurants in Costambar.

Cheers,
Westy

Hi, looks like you are bent on staying in an All-Inclusive Hotel (no doubt because of the price saving). If you want an orthodox holiday, sand, sun, maybe [CodeWord119] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord119), etc,, with just one or two sexual adventures on the side, that is your best route.

But if you are coming mainly to fuck chicas, be aware that it will be extremely inconvenient staying in an AI and almost certainly more expensive in the long run as you will have to hire other places to do the deed, and taxis to get around.

Please clarify which type of holiday you want before we get onto which location.

My vacation is more the first one. I am looking to do the sun, sand and chill with 2 (maybe 3) chica diversions thrown in. Its mostly to decompress after an almost year long project. Mongering everyday (or 2, 3 times a day) seems like a lot of effort and almost work. I am staying five days so I figure every other day for a hour get together isn't so bad.

You sure have high hopes, Mr. Firsttimeguy! Whichever Iberostar you choose you ain't going to find local chicas knocking on your hotel door. I think that your best bet is Costa Dorada (I think you mean Puerto Plata, by the way, not Punta Cana. I guess it was an error). Take a taxi to Sosua, or "Guagwa" to save a few bucks and find "La Passions". Chicas readily available anytime. Or take a taxi into Puerto Plata and ask for Chrystals. Same thing. Chicas available anytime but more expensive. Both places have "facilities" on the premises.

Good Luck!

Go with the Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata option - there's very little mongering choice in the Punta Cana area. You could do a day visit to Blackbeard's in Costambar (taxi), try Crystals in PP, go to Sosua and get a room for the day at Rocky's and bring any chicas you wish there, all within a half hour by taxi (10 minutes or less for Crystals). You will be able to see most of the spots mentioned on this board easily on convenient day trips or spend the night over in Sosua or at Blackbeards for the experience. You just can't bring back chicas to your AI.

Got put up at the end of one of my trips by the airline in Playa Dorada for 3 days when my plane didnt make it from NY do to mechanical problems. Did exactly what this post suggests and it worked out fine.

The only thing I will disagree with you on and to be honest I was shocked I was able to do it but you can bring a girl back into Playa Dorada, I did it all 3 nights/days. If you talk to the security guard or head bell hop for between 25 to 50 US they will allow them in with you. The girl will have to leave their ID at the front desk. They will provide her with a bracelet to wear that everyone must have that is staying there. The cool thing is the girl can do everything a tourist is doing in the place. Which means the chica can have all she can eat and drink for free, sit around the pool and beach etc. You just cant act like your at BB's around the pool and hot tub. I didnt really care but it felt kind of weird walking around the place with the chica with real tourist couples and families. But a man has to do what man has to do!

That's interesting, Doker44. I knew guys used to bribe girls in but for the last few years they have cracked down on it and staff were in fear of losing their jobs. If your experience was fairly recently it may be that with the drastic drop in trade in Playa Dorada (a third of the hotels are closed altogether) they can't afford to be so picky and are turning a blind eye to it again.

I presume this was US$25 to 50 each day. Was it always the same girl or different each day?

It is still an expensive way to monger because you would also need a taxi to bring the girl in (I cannot see them walking from the main road) so you would be doubling your normal payment, but as FTG is just giving himself the occasional treat (rather than submitting to the "lot of effort and almost work" that we guys have to suffer) I suppose he won't mind.

$25-$50 a day sounds like it might be the day rate they charge rather than a bribe. I stayed at Casa Marina once and a lot of Dominicans showed up on weekends - and I was told that Dominicans could get good walk-in rates either for the day or overnight if space was available (and it usually was).

I also remember Billy Lane saying this was the case but I never found out any more about it. Can you confirm or bust the myth?

I guess I could have made myself a little clearer in my initial post. I am looking to keep my relaxing in the AI separate from my mongering. I have read on this board that there are cabanas available locally that you can take a woman back to. Lets see if I can get these staight.

Roger dodger. You mean they have places where they come right up and knock on your door? Just kidding. I know I am going to have to go out and hunt. But I am looking to only do this some days and not have to worry about any overnight chica. I like my "me" time too.

Charles Pooter. Your sacrifice does not go by unnoticed or unappreciated.

Marc Anthony. Thanks. If I am not mistaken that was the cheaper of the two also by like a hundred bucks (not a big savings but it covers some of the chica expense). You can visit BB if you are not staying there? Do they have hourly/short stay rentals nearby? I think this might be the best option since you have mentioned that there are 3 places accessible (I consider taxi accessible) and that might help me find my type of lady.

First yes it was an expensive way to monger from paying cabs to go to BB's and other mongering spots to paying for the girls to get in, not the way I would prefer or recommend but in my case the airline paid and forced me into Playa Dorada so in this case I had no choice. This was about 6 months ago. It is 25 to 50 per bracelet. But the girls stayed all night, hung out with me during the day, and we went to karaoke and dancing in the place with the "real" tourist. Man it was embarrassing to be an American showing her her that..haha. Once you have the bracelet she is never bothered.

Not to get off subject to much but Charles Pooter you are very correct about Playa Dorado. With all the news of a crackdown in Sousa and speculation of investors and tourism all I thought of was my Playa Dorada experience. They dont just have a room or two available, they have entire buildings of rooms empty. I was moved 3 times do to room problems, no hot water, spongy tubs, and bugs it made BB's look like a 5 star hotel. I thought it was ground hog day when it came to eating, it was the same food over and over and they closed the buffets early. Once they were closed good luck finding food, I had never been in a place were I couldnt get food even if I was willing to pay for it. The specialized restaurants were horrible. You had to pay extra for safe, towels, and internet. Talking and listening to the non-mongering tourist many said they were never going back to the DR. I never heard so much crying from tourist. Now of course a monger isnt as picky and I was loving it. Girls, free booze, and food, plus free lodging in the DR. Collectively really one of my best trips. Not to mention the voucher I ended up with from the airline because of the hardship I described to them...LOL!

I exited my hotel in Santo Domingo around 11am for a trip to Puerto Plata. I stopped at Carrefour a large department store/supermarket that has over 40 cash registers. I had some food at a fast food restaurant there with a chica who lives near there.

As I drove past Villa Altagracia on the way to Moca the skies turned dark and there was a heavy rain for the next 90 minutes of my drive. I stopped in Moca and picked up two chicas, one chica I knew from online and was meeting her in person for the first time. She brought along her friend and I checked their cedulas and visited their homes.

We took the local road from Moca to Santiago and I drove past Ilusion and Casa Blanca and took photos. When I got to Santiago I made a right onto Avenida Estrella Sadhalla and drove past the hotel el gran almirante and plaza hache. I continued straight on that road for puerto plata. That road will lead you eventually to a traffic circle in Navarette, where you have to go to the right. I did not make the right and drove through Navarette for about ten minutes before realizing I was not on course and I made a u turn to get back to the retondo (traffic circle).

I called Charles Pooter on his cell phone and he told me to meet him at a restaurant on the malecon in Puerto Plata. The road to Puerto Plata after Navarette is one lane each direction with a bunch of curves.

In Puerto Plata I drove by a very nice park/plaza with palm trees in front of a white building a few blocks before the Malecon. I drove by the new Sirena on the Malecon, looks like a good big store.

I had a beer with the two Moca Chicas and Mr. Pooter and his GF in a restaurant on the Malecon. From there we drove in my car to Costambar and Blackbeards. Before the gate into Costambar there is a restaurant on the corner. The name of the owner is Lue, a very nice woman. The food was good and the prices were excellent.

I drove with Mr. Pooter, his GF and the two Moca chicas to Blackbeards. Bleackbeards is a very nice hotel. The waitresses wear pleasant looking uniforms. I entered Blackbeards around 8pm at night. The grounds looked very nice. There were about three guys at the bar, about 4 BB chicas were sitting at a table near the bar and a few other guys had chicas with them at other tables. Mr. Pooter had stayed in BB for two weeks when he first starting coming to DR and he saw a chica named Luchy and started talking with her. The night manager guy at BB is an American guy from Cleveland, Ohio, I believe his name is Chris, speaks perfect English.

I ordered a presidente for pooter and I. The three chicas were drinking coca cola. John the owner called the hotel and was told I was there with two chicas who had left their cedulas back in Moca. Thereafter Chris the manager politely told me that I would have to exit the hotel immediately.

My first and last visit to Blackbeards was pleasant enough. Seems like a nice place. The chicas are Morenas. I believe one large Presidente and two small bottles of coca cola the bill was something like 275 pesos.

I then drove back to the Restaurant owned by Lue and the five of us had dinner. I then drove Pooter to where he lives. I then drove to Pasion in Santiago, then a Cabana in Moca with the two Moca chicas, stayed in the cabana for a few hours, then drove the chicas home and drove back to Santo Domingo. I arrived back in Santo Domingo at around 4:30AM. Round trip visit Santo Domingo to Moca, Santiago and Puerto Plata in about 17 hours.

yes, many cabańas near (though none in) costambar.

cabańas normally charge for three or four hours (400 to 650 pesos depending on standard).

putas in the pp bars are often salided out by dominicans for one hour only, so 20 minutes to arrange that and get to the cabańa and pay, and 15 minutes to get back, means dominicans often spend only 25 minutes doing the deed and that includes undressing, showering and dressing again afterwards. if i tried to monger at that speed i would probably get my foreskin caught in my zipper.

guys here have recently confirmed that blackbeards will rent you a room short-time to enjoy one (or more) of their chicas (assuming they have vacant rooms, of course.)

I was able to pay for a day pass so that chicas could come in and visit for the day. Day pass at casa marina was about 35 dollars.

Dominicans usually flood all inclusive hotels on the weekends, oftentimes they are given very good rates.

I stayed at the Marian all inclusive hotel near playa dorada (I believe in costa dorada complex, it was called coral marian by hilton at the time or something like that). I was able to pay the hotel for a Santo Domingo chica to come in and visit me for a few nights.

you can definitely visit bb's without staying there and i believe can rent a room short time if they have one available, so it would be good to call or email in advance and confirm this if you think you might want to do the short stay there.

charles mention of the speed dating thing explains the occasional spoiled chica who starts asking you about "leche" when you are barely getting started.

Year 2007, First timer newbie. I was afraid, upset, desperate, nervous, most of all horny! Found the forums and took in the info's on where I could go on my budget. I asked a couple of my spanish co-workers about going to a spanish country by myself. I started with an all-inclusive resort to the DR. Following months, I set my trip for BB's by myself. For my state of mind I needed to be spoon fed. The closer the time came to leave for the trip, I asked myself, what the hell am I doing? Finally, I see the big sign with my name and blackbeards. Took the mafia taxi and arrived to the unknown. No turning back now, still have a nervous smile on my face. Man at the front desk explains all the rules while my ears can hear music and many chica voices in the background. On the way to my room, hola, hola! Stayed in my room, took a nap until it got dark. I awake, go downstairs for dinner. Order food and a couple of chica's came to my table. I had the biggest smile inside and out. I got laid that night and more. It was like the greatest feeling in the world! BB's gave me the introduction to mongering. I will always appreciate and remember the value of Blackbeards (Barbara Negra). One small step for me, leads to one giant leap. Some of us will need to be spoon fed to begin the monger experience. Now, I'm a hunter. I will travel anywhere and hunt for my chica's. Made it here on tuesday, four chita's so far- saw the amber museum did a bit shopping...your budget should be around $200us per day. Great Place. If you can afford it you need to be here.

Had Kenia the first night, long time ...she was working so hard I sent her down to get another lady to join us for ST. She said "no prob" and off she went and brought back another stunner. These are hard working girls.

Had two more in the Jacuize? 500dr each for head...again WOW

You can go cheeper in town but this place is worth it!!!

Should have touched down tonight, but the airline offerd a deal I couldn't refuse. I was flying into Santiago tonight but now I'll get there tomorrow afternoon. My luck a couple of guys that took the deal too are renting a car and driving to Puerto Plata they're not staying at BB's but they're dropping me off, LOL. So I guess I'll save in more ways than one, since I won't be gambling in Santiago now.

I would stop at any one of a million phone stores on the way to Cofresi to get them. One of the best places to get a good exchange rate will be Western Union or withdraw from an ATM or even a bank if you will be arriving during business hours. The money exchange at Caribe Tours bus terminal gives a good rate also. All of these places will require you to show a passport.

It's 208 pesos for a sim chip with 100 pesos minutes on it. I haven't even been able to buy a phone card at the airport. Slip the chip in your phone and you're ready to go, just be prepared for the cost of those calls.

My first and last visit to Blackbeards was pleasant enough. Seems like a nice place. The chicas are Morenas. Many thanks to Jaosousa for his kindness and generosity to my girlfriend and myself. A pleasant evening.

I have to comment on his use of the word "morena" though, because I was sitting next to him at the bar in Blackbeards thnking how few morenas there were there.

It is not that either of us are liars or it was too dark to see properly so I reckon his use of the word "morena" reflects his wider mongering experience in Latin America (mine is confined to the North Coast of the DR)."Morena" in Spain just means "brunette" and I am guessing that in Latin American countries with a stronger Spanish heritage than the DR "morena" means anyone with a noticeably darker skin than white. In the DR, however, it is the step below "negra" (which Dominicans would rarely use for each other, reserving that term for Haitians). Then come "india oscura" and "india clara" and "blanca". I guess it is (sadly) the case that the majority of girls at Blackbeards, who are mostly "indias", would resent being called "morena".

There are a lot of pretty chicas at Blackbeards. If more of them were what I call "morenas" I might be tempted to visit more often. Anyone know what happened to my old (haitiana) favorite Felicia there? Are there any haitianas there at all?

It was a fun night. Your GF is very pretty. The taller Moca chica I brought with me, wants to work at BB. When I was at BB I saw about 4-5 chicas. I didn't really study them too hard. The woman named Luchy you were talking looked india clara. I don't recall seeing any light skin chicas a la Amelia Vega, at BB (I was only there for 15 minutes, one night).

Triguena (wheat color) , not sure if they use that term in DR. There is a mix of skin colors in DR, as well as body shapes and sizes. I enjoy seeing the variety. Hows the new apartment going? Have you tried the German restaurant near BB?

"Morena" is one of those words that can and is used it remarkably different ways depending on where you are and whom you're talking to. Confusing at first, until one accepts that you can never really get a clearcut definition of what it means.

Confusing at first, until one accepts that you can never really get a clearcut definition of what it means.Well, the word "moreno" simply means "brown". So the actress Rita Moreno would really be Rita Brown. A morena in the DR means a brown-skinned girl. My wife, who is a Dominican morena, would be very insulted to be called "black" here in the US, although in US terminology, that is exactly what she is. Of course in the US the word "black" is applied to anyone of African descent, regardless of their skin color. Dominicans are rather more precise and if they calll somebody brown, then they probably are.

Never told me her name. When she wrote her number down she put "Morena". She was about the same color as Tisha Campbell (from the TV show "Martin"). Back home we call girls with that skin complexion "Yella-bone(s)".

The nickname of my (while in DR) Haitiana's cousin was "La Negra", but she was about the same skin color as Jada Pinkett Smith.

While the word morena may mean brown in the dictionary, the term as used in L. A. To describe a person's appearance is not so easily defined.

Stayed at Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort & Spa Nov 30th thru December 4th with my wife. The resort is really nice and we had a great time. Went to the Casino at Ocean World the first night, it was ok. The second day we met some people at the beach, drank a bunch of mama juanas, along with regular drink, Cuba libre. After dinner we drank some more at the pool bar. Wife went back to the room at 10:30 PM to crash.

I went to the disco at 11:00 PM, it was very dead except for a fine looking chica named Ana. Danced with Ana and talked to her (I speak fluent spanish, grew up in Venezuela) and bought a couple of rounds of drinks for her and the rest of the staff. Got Ana's phone number and left about 2:00 AM.

The next day, my wife slept until 2:30 PM, she had a terrific headache. At 9:00 AM, I called Ana and went to see her via taxi, her place was ok, but man was she hot in bed. Had a great time and gave her 1500 pesos when I left. Stopped by Black Beards on the way back to the resort to check it out. I had a couple of Cuba libres and checked out the talent there. There were about a dozen girls there who looked ok, with a few hotties. Finished my second drink and went back to the resort.

On the night of the 3rd, I left the resort at about 1:00 am and took a cab to Crystal's in Puerto Plata. When I walked in, there were about a dozen hot looking chicas there. Took a short, extremely hot brunette upstairs, would rate her as a 10+. Had a good time with her, DATY, mish, CG, reverse CG and finally finished doggy.

Went back down and got another brunette. 10+. Had a good time with her too, DATY, doggy, CG, reverse CG and finally finished with a BBBJCIM. What a night. Great place for really hot chicas. Loved it.

We left the resort on the 4th and went to the Casa Marina Reef in Sosua.

I am going to BB's for the first time in January. My question is the logistics of moving money around. I plan on paying cash but I am nervous about taking $1800 into a third world country. I could convert to travelers checks only to convert again into pesos but the fees will eat into my purchasing power.

All you vets out there, how do you do it? A gringo climbing into a cab bound to BB's with 1800 in his pocket seems like a recipe for disaster.

As long as you are not flashing it around you should be fine. If you are that nervous, split it up and put some in different pockets, hiding places, or other areas in you carryon. I've carried a lot around while traveling and when I got to my hotel room immediately put it in my safe and only took out what I needed for the day. Just use common sense and you'll be ok.

I just came back from BB's Dec 7-14 (7th trip) . I had another blast, just what the doctor ordered (I am the doctor). I had planned to check out Sosua but got sidetracked by all the chicas. Anyone need specifics hit with a PM. I am a positive person so for the most part, I make sure I have a good time no matter where I go. I am also proud to say that I am now an official PIRATE with my photo on the wall. The funniest part of the trip was that there was a guy there for a whole week who obviously had some issues. He could not get layed, whenever a chica got to close to him, kiss him on the neck etc, he would bust a nut in his pants, one time a chica saw him lurking in bushes abusing himself. Pretty sad but kind of funny.

CarlosNice report Carlos. I will heading to BB's for my 1st visit beginning of Jan for 11 days. A friend of mine also just got back and he said it was awesome. He has been before but he said the line.up was great this trip. Glad to see you had fun too. You were there the same time he was, he said he sessioned many times. Hope he wasn't lying and it was him hiding in the bushes. LOL

All you vets out there, how do you do it? A gringo climbing into a cab bound to BB's with 1800 in his pocket seems like a recipe for disaster. OK, I assume that you cannot draw money on a debit card because you don't want to leave a paper trail of being in the DR, or you have joint accounts or something.

The biggest problem with cash is not that you are likely to be robbed, but that you might drop your wallet in the taxi and end up destitute. So it would make good sense to split up your cash into 4 or 5 parcels and carry some in your wallet, some in your sock, some in an inside pocket, some in your carry-on bag, some in your camera case, etc?

On arrival you might be able to prepay your room at BB in cash, and thus lighten your load. Again you should put money in your locked room safe, some in your wallet on your person, and would hide a further emergency fund in a third place just in case.

I would avoid letting chicas see large amounts of cash. This isn't to suggest that they will rob you, but you don't want them even gossiping about a visitor who flashes a large bunde of $100 bills.

For similar reasons, I would make a photocopy of your passport, drivers license, and credit cards (especially with customer service numbers) just in case they get lost. Let's face it, if you lose your passport you are going to have problems anyway, but at least a photocopy will help a bit.

However I have been to the DR 40 times and never lost anything except one cell phone.

All you vets out there, how do you do it? A gringo climbing into a cab bound to BB's with 1800 in his pocket seems like a recipe for disaster. You have received good advice so far, listen to it. But for you, a gringo climbing into a cab heading straight for Costambar is not that much of a theft risk. We all complain about the "taxi mafia" and their prices, but getting into a marked and manned "taxi mafia" cab does provide the newbie with a large degree of safety from this kind of activity. All cabs that you get at the airport will be part of that mafia (oh joy of joys!).

As mentioned, once in your room, and after you have lightened some of your load by paying for your room in advance (a BBs policy) , put the bulk of your stash in the provided safes. That is what they are there for. You can start up a bill for bar and restaurant charges once checked in.

Don't flash cash around anywhere, even in the US. Use your head and your common sense and you will have no problems. There is absolutely no concern, NONE, about the chicas robbing you at BBs. This is one of the things I like about the place. This is a good job for them and the chica would have to be pretty stupid to put her lifeline (job) on the line to steal from you. Again don't be stupid and leave stuff around to tempt anyone either, as one thing that can happen is the chica thinks a small amount of money left out after the deed to be a "regalo" (gift) or "propina" (tip).

Relax, you are in a gated community with a lot of other gringos walking around and a slew of chicas ready to screw your brains out (oops, did I just say that?). You will do fine.

CarlosThat wasn't me. I wasn't there Dec 7-14. But I feel for the poor bloke, and the poor chicas.

Blackbeard's is really good for me, because my one outstanding area of shyness is "when it comes to sex". Even there, I'm probably a frustration to the chicas, because I'm heavily tuned for rejection; I'm too apt to interpret a chance comment or bit of behavior as "Not now, not tonight, not you." Ask the mamasan about the guy who gave $100 to Blanco's Kids, the morning after his lonely Saturday night.

Eagle Creek's "UnderCover Hidden Pocket" (http://www.eaglecreek.com/accessories/security_id/UnderCover-Hidden-Pocket-40024/)

It loops onto your belt, and the loop is long enough to slip it into the waistband of your trousers. The loop is all anyone can see, and it would take exceptionally sharp eyes to notice it. The pouch itself rides below your waistband, so you don't notice it. It's big enough to contain my passport, a credit card or two "just in case", and a thick stack of Ben Franklins and Andy Jacksons.

Thanks for the advice (Kitie Carson, Frannie, Ponderosa and Westy). My concern was getting from the Airport to BB's intact but I have a plan now and it should like the cabs are safe. I'll be taking a credit card and ATM card, I just don't plan on using them since there is no ATM in Costambar and the credit card fees are reported to be ridiculous. I guess is someone robs be blind, I have bigger problems anyway.

Photocopies of everything. Good idea.

Thanks again.

Lots of good advice. I have been 20+ times to BB's and another 12+ trips to the DR away from BB's all in the last 5 years so I have a done a few different things with money.

1. I have brought all cash many many times. $2, 000. $3, 500 a trip depending on how long I am staying etc. I bring mostly $20. 00 bills (some $5's and $10's as well) and put them in numerous unmarked envelopes in my carry on bags. I have rented a car and used the taxis BB's sets up and I have never had a problem.

2. I have used Travelers Checks many times. BB's will cash them but as been discussed to death before the exchange rate is good but not as good as a Bank or even Jennys Market. When I have rented a car I have had no problem going to the Banco Popular and with an I'd and Passport they have cashed any amount I have needed. Never a problem. The Bank is on the way from the airport to BB's on the main road. The taxi will stop for you if you ask. Check the bank hours. I once went to the Bank on the back of one of the BB's girls scooters and about pissed myself from fear!

3. Bank machines: I have used the ones in side the Bank, in the drive thru and also the one by the University just outside of Costambar and have had NO problems with my Bank fees etc. I have Bank of America in the States. I have bailed out a few guys over the years that lost cards in machines and were stuck with no cash. One nice side note is that everyone I loaned money to in their hour of need paid me back. Other quests thought that I was a fool for doing it but I like to believe that if I had needed help someone would have helped me.

On my last trip to BB's in July 2010 I never exchanged any money into pesos. I paid the girls in US dollars. In my mind it is a win win. The girls know the rate in pesos and dollars and I find that I do not over tip paying in dollars as the little head is not as good at math as the larger less attractive head is. The girls make the exchange at the Bank and know when the rates are better etc.

These are just my experiences. I hope the info. Helps.

I have not used ATM machines in Puerto Plata. I have used ATM machines in other cities in Dominican Republic. Within the last 15 months I started having trouble withdrawing cash from ATM machines. Cagep1967 suggested choosing Spanish as the language when using the ATM machines. This solved the problem for me and other guys.

Don't freak-out if an ATM will not give you cash when you have chosen English as the language. Restart the transaction and choose Spanish. When I choose Spanish, the ATM gives me cash no problem.

Not sure if this is a problem on the North Coast, but it is a problem on the South Coast in Santo Domingo, Juan Dolio and San Pedro de Marcoris and probably other cities.

Just a heads up to any newbies who may want to use the ATM machines in DR.

Might be a good idea if more people complained to the US Consulate in Santo Domingo about this problem (or the British Embassy). It really is a clusterfuck that banks in DR are allowed to totally fuck over English Speaking clients, by having their machines not give money when English is chosen as the language at their ATM machines.

My thanks to Cage1967 and to you for this tip, a new one to me. I always assume the machine has run out of cash but I will see if this does the trick next time.

Another tip that might help sometimes is to choose "from Savings Account" if the machine won't serve you when you choose "from Checking Account" (even though the latter is from where you are trying to withdraw your cash). I always have to do this at BHD machines. Not sure if it applies with other banks.

Best of all is to withdraw cash over the counter during banking hours (you will need your passport or driving licence with picture). It's safer, the machine cannot "eat" your card, and, best of all, you can ask for a reasonable amount in small bills (50s and 100s) to overcome the perennial "no change" problem.

For those in the Puerto Plata area, note that Banco Popular inside the La Sirena store is open to 7.00pm Monday to Saturdays and also on Sunday mornings (I think until 12.00noon) , a very handy service.

If you do use ATMs ask for an "odd" amount such as 4900 or 9900 pesos. This will at least give you some smaller bills.

I have no idea who the guy who was abusing himself was, but a guy did tell me he was just there for the atmosphere. If he was in the bushes why didn't the chica help him abuse himself. Sometimes I needed help after being abused by a chica in my room, but it was beautiful abuse. This was my newbie stay and I was wondering how many times you have been there to get your photo on the wall. Anyways I feel sorry for that guy, but I am sure a chica could have given him help.

Multi-language ATM machines have been in existence for over 10 years, it is not some new exotic technology. In New York City there are ATM machines where you can choose English, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Polish as the transaction language.

I used to be able to use the ATM machines in English in Dom Rep. Then I went to use a Banco Popular ATM, I put my card in the machine, the machine asked what language, I chose English, then it asked me for my pin number, I entered my pin number, then it asked me for the type of transaction, I chose withdrawal from checking and chose the amount to withdraw and after all of that I received "UNAUTHORIZED USAGE" message on the screen. I said to myself WTF.

I then wasted over three hours trying to contact J. P. Morgan Chase Bank to see if they put a Block on my ATM card. The 800 phone numbers on the back of the ATM card didn't work from the DR with a DR cell (good luck reading some of those super small phone numbers on the back of the card which are often written over the indented letters from the front of the card). From the DR I needed a bank phone number with a non 800 area code to use with my Claro cell. I eventually found out that there was no hold on my card, it was the fault of whomever programs the ATM machines for Banco Popular and other DR banks.

If the banks in Dom Rep can't or don't want to pay for the programs to have multi-language ATM machines, then they should just remove the English option from their ATM machines. I wasted my time and my money (long distance 3 hour call) because the program on the Dominican ATM gave false information (saying "unauthorized usage" for English, same machine with the same card gave me money when Spanish was chosen).

The banks are making tons of money on ATM fees, makes no sense to me why the banks in DR would not have fully functioning multi-language ATM machines.

I would suggest scanning your passport, credit cards and ATM cards (front and back) and sending the scanned images to your email address. In case stuff gets lost, you can always access email and see copies of your passport and your credit and ATM cards (the back of the cards have the phone numbers, you may want to get a non 800 phone number for your financial institution and email that number to yourself, if you use a DR cell).

I've heard so little about the situation at NG since Dec 3 that it makes me a little skeptical, but I may give Sosua proper a shot anyway. I'm often an optimist even when it is to my detriment. Paying for food in dollars you loose because the food prices are in peso's therefore BB's uses their exchange rate (not good) to convert it to dollars. The best thing you can do is pay in the currency prices are given.

Whatever change you may get back will be in pesos and just about always the exchange rate is in favor of the establishment and not the individual.

I have not stayed at BlackBeards, but I would agree with the other guys who said it is probably better to pay as you go, rather than run up a tab. I purchased two small bottles of coca cola and a large presidente cerveza at BB, the price was not inexpensive.

I don't know if the rooms at BB have refrigerators, but it might be worth it to bring a bottle a Baileys, where you can offer your chica a drink. Usually the duty free shops at the airport have two bottles of Baileys for around $40. I have bought the 750ml bottle of Baileys at the supermarket in DR for around 500 pesos (appx: $13US)

Hi there guys. I have had a lot of mongering experience in Europe and latin America, but have only been to the DR once before just for a week back in 2000. Anyway, I am planning to come for up to a month in late January / February 2011, and to mix it up between pro's and maybe a few internet ladies as potential girlfriends.

Anyway, I was thinking of the following programme, and would appreciate your advice / feedback. The first week to stay at a typical tourist hotel around Pueto Plata somewhere, just to settle in. Then a week at Blackbeards resort, not longer to start with as I am not sure if it would suit me there, then maybe a week or two travelling around, to Santiago, Santo Domingo etc, trying to meet some amateurs / internet girlfriends, and then to finish off with a week back at Blackbeards or a rental appartment back on the north coast. Does this sound like a good plan? I have tried to read as much as possible about the DR, but compared to a city like Buenos Aires for example I think there are so many more things to consider, and many aspects, ie travel, mobile phones, safety at night, chica friendly hotels etc seem a lot more complicated. But I think in the end I just need to come, there is only so much research I can do. At least compared to 10 years ago my Spanish is much better so that should help a lot. Anyway, any advice you have, please let me know !

Better off paying everything in pesos. Less than a ten minute walk is an official cambio. When leaving BB turn left then take the first left up the hill Its located on the right hand side. The two chicas handling the exchange were knockouts which made the process alot more enjoyable

It is generally better to pay for items in the local currency. You do not want the house using its exchange rate, which will always favor the house itself. Even when quoted market prices in dollars, I always pay in the local currency using the bank exchange rate.

Making my first trip to DR in April 2011. I have been following the Blogs here for some time and as a lifelong Monger looking forward to a new place to visit. Looking for comments and feedback early on so I can better plan.

I am planning on staying in Puerto Plata at the AI's starting with Lifestyle. As the owner of a travel agency I can stay there (and other AI's) for no cost making it a no brainer where to stay. Iberostar, Costa Dora and Gran Ventana are also on the list. Suggestions on which AI's to stay at appreciated. Rooms, food, friendliness etc.

My purpose for the trip is business (hehe!). I am also the owner of a local swingers club in the states and plan on checking out places where we could send people for a week of fun. Couples are always welcome in the clubs but single guys are severely limited. When allowed, they pay double the price, and have no guarantee of success. We want to offer single guys like us a chance to get in on the action. We are looking to survey the area and put together trips for single guys (or couples).

'We' as in I will be traveling with a female friend (who plays as hard as I do!). We will be arriving on Tuesday April 5th. Wednesday will be a kick back day for sun and beach. Thursday we will spend the day at Water World to see the tourist attractions people will want to get to in their 'off time'.

Friday and Saturday we want to devote to our main purpose: visiting the best places in Puerto Plata and Sousa. We have been taking notes on the most popular places such as BB's Crystals, Rocky's and others. We represent almost 2500 members and are interested in suggestions for some of the more hidden places offering more than just plain vanilla. Anyone know of a place catering to BDSM?

We are considering hiring a driver who can show us around or rent a car for a few days. Any suggestions on a knowledgeable driver, rentals, gas prices, and ease of getting around appreciated. We will spend about ten days total in the area. My Spanish is limited.

Also some feedback on how a female will be welcomed in these places. She will be looking for her own fun as well and wonder on the availability of companions for her both female and male. I see prices around 2000 – 2500 DRP depending on quality and was wondering what the going rates are for couples or for a woman seeking a female or male.

Neither we nor our members are cheapskates. We don't want to upset the local market prices, but we know that some things just cost more, especially as one's tastes move further away from the typical offerings.

Recommendations on best weekday places to go or things to do during the week appreciated. A nude beach is a high priority also. Suggestions on where to go?

Private replies can be sent to our e mail [Email address deleted by Admin] We will supply a private e mail address after contact established.

Thanks VERY MUCH

Thats Good you have some Spanish although if you you are a fearless explorer like myself you might want to go off of the beat and path, and freelance your whole trip.

I just got back after a month in DR, this past OCT. I went from SDQ to Sosua / POP, Santiago and Samana driving, stopping and different little towns along the way.

Trying to meet up with chicas that you've met online can be a nightmare, specifically if they have a job and or live with the family (contrarily, good qualities to have in a GFE). However, if you've been nice an sweet over the phone and through chatting, she will break her neck to get to you and reward you well.

Nothing against BB. I was there back in '08 didn't stay there, but some friends and I checked it out for a few hour. Nice pretty women, very attentive but the spoon feeding me chicas thing is not my cup of Tea, I much rather be on the hunt, hence our moniker, Monger. Anyway, you can't go wrong period, the whole island is full of chicas that want to please you.

I went to some strip club near the Malecon I took a chicas with me to negociate a 3-way with one of the dances at the strip club. Stripper asked me for a $100 US and guzzled down the drink I bought her and left after I laughed and said no and bid her a goodnight. That was for just straight sex she wasn't going to do my girl. I can't remember the name of the place but I know it wasn't that place with the pool / waterfall named Rocky's, it was past La Siernas store. Besides you can just sit and buy a beer on the Malecon and chicas will walk by and solicit you, hell maybe even the bartender.

If you do leave BB and go to Santiago it would behoove you try to get a couple of internet GFE's in Santiago and Spend sometime at the Casino at Hotel Montun. There is a club in there you can get chicas out of the lobby for 1000 Pesos. Its a slower town but the women are pretty and a little more "Classy" (used extremely loosely). In hindsight I will say that POP chicas a lot more "wholesome" and sweeter that I've noticed than lets say a chica from Santo Domingo.

[QUOTE=Coupe66; 1103835]Hi there guys. I have had a lot of mongering experience in Europe and latin America, but have only been to the DR once before just for a week back in 2000. Anyway, I am planning to come for up to a month in late January / February 2011, and to mix it up between pro's and maybe a few internet ladies as potential girlfriends.

Hmmm. Is this common?

Room is paid in dollars, food can be billed to the room and paid in dollars plus the cab can be paid in dollars. If I can pay the girls in dollars, then peso conversion will be minimal if at all. PTT,

Everything you have received so far as advise goes is correct. With that in mind I present the following.

One thing to keep in mind with the info given here in the forum is that, as you take more and more trips here, the looking to stretch ones dollar becomes more and more important. If you are like me and many other board members, you will be planning your next trip down to the DR on your way back home. It is amazing the experience you get and how far the monger dollar can go in the DR. A good example of this is TLN at BBs. Some may look at this as "extravagant", but 3000 pesos for the companionship of a chica all evening to the next morning and at least two pops for a little less than 90 bucks is a deal to me. Try doing that in the US, most of Europe or Canada. I can't get an hour of service for that kind of price from most of the civilized world and that says nothing about the GFE I get here. That is why I save my money to just come back.

How does this impact you? If this is your first trip and you don't know the "lay of the land", paying for most stuff with US dollars and exchanging for pesos as needed at BBs is not a bad way to go. You might spend 10-15% more because of this, but in the big picture it might be well worth your while to not have to figure everything out on your first trip. On subsequent trips all this advice may come into play. There is enough stuff going on around you that you need to get your head around.

Don't get overwhelmed with all the info given here (I am not necessarily suggesting you are) but rather just go and enjoy yourself. I still remember my first trip to BBs. Heck the cab ride to Costambar had my eyes as large as half dollars. Now when I visit the DR I feel like I am home.

Enjoying yourself is the goal of the trip.

My 2 cents,

P

Someone mentioned the "perennial no change problem" in a previous post. This refers to where the vendor for item or service X, claims they don't have any change when you pay them with a 500, 1000, or 2000 peso note. They do this because a lot of the time, the customer will just say,"keep the change".

What I do instead is say,"Ok, I'll just pay you next time I see you." You would be surprised how fast they manage to figure out a way to make change. If that doesn't work you can say,"Ok, never mind, I'll buy it somewhere else", or "Ok, maybe I'll come back and get it later if I have time."

If it's a cab and you've already had the cab ride, make him take you (for free) to somewhere where you can get change. After all, it's his responsibility to have change for you.

In no case do I say keep the change just because they claim not to have any. In fact, I make it a point to give no tip if they try to use that one on me.

Roger, Ponderosa.

My plan is to fly in and exchange what I think I will need for the first 24-48 hours at BB and use that time to get the lay of the land. I am sure I will meet a veteran or two at the bar that can set me straight. By the end of the trip, I should have my shit together; maybe even remember a little of that high school Spanish from way back. The point is to relax and have fun; that will be foremost on my mind.

In hindsight I will say that POP chicas a lot more "wholesome" and sweeter that I've noticed than lets say a chica from Santo Domingo.

Insult the Santo Domingo chicas, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I wish I saw those wholesome, sweet Puerto Plata chicas the few times I was in Puerto Plata, sadly those chicas escaped my eyes, instead I have made 20 plus trips to Santo Domingo dealing with what you would describe as Unwholesome and not so sweet chicas. Oh well, your idea of Santo Domingo chicas is totally different from mine, therefore I will continue to fly into Santo Domingo and I will continue to have no desire to visit the North Coast including Puerto Plata, better for as you will have less competition for the Puerto Plata chicas that you prefer.

You really don't have to worry about exchanging money, the cab scam is in dollars. On the way in you can tell the cab that you want to stop at Jennys to exchange money. Believe me it is done all the time, in fact most people also stop at the pharmacy across the street on the way in. Just don't let the cab talk you into some other place.

Iberostar in Costa Dorada (2-3 All Inclusive Hotels) looks like a very nice AI. Costa Dorada is a few minutes drive from Playa Dorada complex (appx. 8 all inclusive hotels). Playa Dorada has a golf course and several bars / discos. Costa Dorada has the Iberostar and the Marian hotel. I stayed at the Marian and it was nice hotel, to me it seemed the Iberostar was nicer and the Iberostar seemed more accepting of topless bathing, whereas the Marian had signs saying it was not allowed. I have heard good things about the Gran Ventana in Playa Dorada.

Caliente Caribe Resort & Spa, http://www.calienteresorts.com/ (formerly Eden Bay Nudist Resort) is located near to Puerto Plata, might be a place you might want to look into (there are numerous reviews on tripadvisor).

Charles Pooter lives in Puerto Plata as does the Man Tour guy. I am sure those two guys know the scene very well in Puerto Plata, you should try to contact them.

Dominican guys who specialize in fucking tourist babes are called Sankies. Your female friend will have no shortage of Dominican men who would want to have sex with her, if she is big, fat and old, no problem.

I always rent a car through Alamo and choose the third party liability insurance, my credit card covers the loss damage waiver. Having a car gives you the freedom to go where and when you want. There are some rich foreigners living on the north coast in very expensive homes and those people drive around in their expensive Sport Utility Vehicles.

Caberete is 10-15 minutes east of Sosua and is famous for having great wind for wind sports (kite boarding, wind surfing) , I have seen foreign women topless on the beach in Caberete and at night there are beach bars for the mostly younger crowd.

BBL,

What up bro? Glad to see you're still doing your thang. Have you been out to Rio since our trip? Aaah the memories-seems the dynamic has changed alot since Help was closed and demolished. I hope to be back traveling by the end of 2011. I've got a milestone be-day in 2012 and can think of no better place to be than Rio. Maybe you and Sami can meet up with me there. As for DR, as we discussed, its like home bro. I would imagine it will be my first stop once I start traveling again, although it seems things are changing a bit in Sosua. I do love POP though. I might need a little tutoring on the Santiago game if you're around. Hope everything is well.

I know this is more like a message than a report, but, it doesn't seem like people are putting any REAL reports on here anymore. Too bad.

Rodeo.

We are staying four nights at Lifestyle Resort and four nights at another AI. We will journey out from there. Rooms to play in for a few hours seem readily available.

We have already made arrangements to stay over Friday night at Caliente and setting up a tour with The Man Tour Guy for Saturday. Have talked to BB's and we will certainly get over there as well. Looking for suggestions for some of the less traveled out of the way places.

We also own an area swingers club with about 1200 members. We arrange the travel for our members and think PP and Sousa would be a great place to send clients on a regular basis, especially our single guys. We want to see firsthand what the area has to offer.

Thinking about renting a car. How much is fuel in PP area?

Thanks again to all for the helpful posts.

Hi Sweeper, I haven't posted because I know nothing about the stuff in which you are interested. For example, the only occasions in six years I have set foot inside Playa Dorada have been to watch England soccer matches with a friend a few times. I would hazard a guess that is not high among your clients' priorities.

You will have fun in DR. Webpage for Passion Massage in Sosua: http://www.lapassion-sosua.com/. They have Christmas 2010 photos. Looks like the place has two floors now. Also in Sosua is CMP.

To save money you may want to bring a GSM phone that takes sim cards and get a local cell phone number in DR. I bought a refurbished pantech link for $30 US from the ATT site. I don't know whether I can just install a DR sim card for Orange or Claro and the ATT cell phone will work (I don't know if the cell phone first has to be unlocked from ATT). Amazon, newegg and other sites sell unlocked GSM cell phones that take SIM cards. I bought an unlocked ATT Samsung cell on Newegg and gave it to a DR chica and she bought a new SIM card (chip) and the phone works perfect in DR.

You can buy a SIM card in DR for under 500 pesos (less then $13US) , you can also buy a local cell phone (with a DR number and minutes) for about $13US. The inexpensive DR cell from Claro has a small screen. I want a DR cell with a decent screen and a keyboard for sending text messages in DR (I have not used the touch screen keyboards). A USB cable to connect to the computer and a program to manage contacts from the computer to edit on the cell would be a plus.

You add minutes to your DR cell by buying cards that come in 60, 100, 250, 500 pesos denominations. About 36 pesos to one US Dollars now.

To fill up the gas tank on a Nissan Versa (small car) sized rental car in DR costs about $50US.

Hotel D'Piero looks like a nice hotel in Sosua: http://www.hotelpierososua.com/.

GPS Navigation works in Dom Rep, there are a few companies that sell DR maps for Garmin devices, this site has routable maps for Garmin for $49US: http://www.gpstravelmaps.com/dominican_republic.php.

This site the map is $87US: http://dominicana.cc/index.php?lang=en.

You may want to see what MundoAnuncio. Com has for Puerto Plata. Sometimes swingers place ads on Mundo Anuncio.

I started using this last summer while in the DR. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Although it shows the street layout (of PP, for instance) many of the street names are not marked on the GPS unit, in the same way they are not physically marked on the street. I also input an address in Sosua one day and it didn't show up, although it was to a well known attorney's office. Another time I went to Monte Christi and pretty much after getting past Navarette it stopped showing the roadway.

In spite of its limited use, I'm still happy to have it, if for no other reason than that I can find my way home from whereever I might be.

I recently bought a Garmin and I like the way it works. On youtube a few companies have posted videos of how their GPS systems operate in DR.

In DR I have driven a few chicas home late at night, when the whole neighborhood was sleeping and I git lost and there was no one to ask for directions. If the GPS can help me in that situation, I'll be happy.

I don't know which company has the best maps for DR. I have used the maps from http://www.gpstravelmaps.com/dominican_republic.php On my last two trips to the DR. The smaller cities do not have all the streets but the larger cities seem to be more detailed and havemore businesses listed. Overall I am very happy with the quality of the maps and the GPS has saved my bacon omre than once. The street maps of Santiago, Higuey and La Ramona were much more detailed than Boca Chica Sosua and PP. I have updated my maps twice in the past year with more detailed streets.

One issue is that the GPS tends to find the shortest route and not always the best route. A couple of times I ended up on dirt roads and had to back track. Once you are on the more traveled route the GPS recalculates and gives you the new route.

Overall I am very satisfied with the maps.

I've done the same thing in PP and it has worked well.

I'll say this, having a GPS unit is certainly much better than not having one. You just don't have the level of detail that you have here in the US

This site updates their maps, seems every month:

This site might have free maps:

I recently bought a Garmin and I like the way it works. On youtube a few companies have posted videos of how their GPS systems operate in DR.

In DR I have driven a few chicas home late at night, when the whole neighborhood was sleeping and I git lost and there was no one to ask for directions. If the GPS can help me in that situation, I'll be happy.

I don't know which company has the best maps for DR. I'm glad to see someone other than Garmin making e-maps for the Garmin units. I'm feeling a lot better about my purchase, today, of a new Garmin 76cx.

I will be in the DR the second week of February and will be splitting time between Sosua and Puerto Plata. Sosua is no problem getting a hotel but, when I am in Puerta Plata I hope to find hotel that is chica friendly and I can get to restaurants and bars by foot or short taxi ride. I saw FOD is chica friendly but from the map it seems like it is away from the center of the city and might require transpotation to get to the center of the city.

I appreciate any information any you guys have.

Tthanks in advance.

field of dreams is now closed to the general public and is a private members-only club. i think it may also have changed its name. (can anyone confirm that?) a sad loss and would have been by far your best option despite being a bit stuck out as cheap and easy to get anywhere in the city from there.

your problem is that restaurants and bars are well rep001tered over a sizable town (much larger than sosua for example). so wherever you stay you will be only near a few of them. did you have any particular venues in mind?

i suggest you try hotel lomar, reasonably priced and on the malecon, the only elegant part of puerto plata. it's chica friendly but not conducive to a "frat" atmosphere like the new garden in sosua, for example. it's a short 25 peso motoconcho ride to cristal and to four or five decent restaurants and walking distance to the bars in town like charly's, also to la sirena superstore.

another option is mountain view hotel. its days as a puta hotspot are long gone, it now caters for dominican businessmen, but it's half decent and chica friendly. it's nearer the town centre but not near any location in particular.

i live in puerto plata and prefer it to sosua as a home town but it is much harder work mongering here than in sosua for the casual visitor. why are you spending half your time here? for mongering, or other reasons?

i just remembered another option is the longer-stay apartments at sensations cabańa. again stuck outside of town though an easy motoconcho ride to blackbeards. a 200/250 peso taxi ride to most venues in town or a 25 peso carrito ride and walk or motoconcho on from wherever you get out.

Tthanks in advance.Although I don't have contact info on hand, there are several rental properties in Costambar (the area around Blackbeards) that you could stay in. There are a few small restaurants in that area, plus Blackbeards and the beach, both with eating establishments. Of course, if you get close to a chica and don't mind feeding her, you'll get a great tour of some of the restaurants in POP. If you're looking for higher end restaurants, I've seen billboards for a couple or three restaurants just West of Costambar, near Ocean World resort. I've never tried them though. Although it can be a little intimidating and not for everyone, I say, get a car and get a chica, then the island is your oyster. Just don't stay with only one chica! Also, try www.vrbo Dot com and vacationrentals. Com. Both of these will yield great properties, though their proximity to restaurants is unknown. Personally, I'd recommend Blackbeards or just skip POP and go to Sosua, which has pretty much all the restaurants in walking distance of many hotels. I probably won't stay at Blackbeard's again, since I'm driving now and can stay wherever I want and since there is much more variety in Sosua as far as both chicas and restaurants (you can't throw a rock on Pedro Clisante without hitting a restaurant, a chica, a bar, or a hotel.

RodeoThis past year I have rented two different villas and two condos in Costambar and will never do it again. It's too bad as I like Costambar for a few days with a favorite and / or to pull girls from BB's. Costambar is one of the worst areas for power outages on the whole fucking island, why that is I don't know but it has been a major pain in the ass. All these places that I have stayed in use invertors when the power goes out which in Costambar is about ten fucking hours a day and they don't use large enough ones to run the A / C so half the day you sweat your balls off. If you are going to stay in Costambar you might as well stay at BB's which has power 24/7 or just get a place in Sosua as Rodeo pointed out. I rented villas in Sosua my last two trips and they were awesome but I was traveling with a few younger guys that liked to party into the early morning and got thrown out of two villas for being too loud. I will be at the New Garden next week on a solo mission.

This is the 1st installment to my Newbie trip to the Dominican Republic.

1st day here pretty low key. I had started my trip Thursday AM in OR w / layovers in SEA, LAX, and JFK. Got into POP at 1315 Friday. Got to BBs around 3 w / stop at Bank. Pretty tired so went to room unpacked, took shower to revive and headed down to bar for a Presidente. Nice being able to walk to bar w / fine chicas in bikinis ogling you. LOL

Sat at bar and within first few sips of beer had chicas coming up to me asking my name, where I from."duplas, duplas, duplas" seemed to be the selling point of the day. I resisted temptation, as theses gals were fine, fine, fine in there bikinis! And managed to separate and session w / 1 of these gals. I cannot remember her name, but will get it tonight as there is a BB's Miss Universe contest and she will be there for that and wants to TLN. I probably will, as she was great in the sack and has a sweet little spinner body. Will see about pics too. She had great little body and proceeded to strip to bra, gong, then did a little dance for me standing in front of mirror beautiful round booty. I do know she has 2 K*ds and lives in Puerto Plata. Nice body for 2 K*ds. She gave great service and we laid in bed until her shift ended at 1800. $1500 pesos (around US42). Nice price!

2nd session with gal named Melissa. Her and Olga were doing the dupla thing too, but "seperate and conquer" may turn out to be my theme for the trip! Sweet lips, nice tight body

With beautiful round ass. Just an Ok session as I am now tired as Phuck and just ready to sleep. (7 pm). . Shower together and straight to sack. Light kissing, BBBJ with her staring at me the whole time, then to covered CG and quick 3 minute leche (no laughing please) , like I said I'm ready for bed! She exclaimed " you leche already" I tried to hide it but Phuck it, I'm tired. She cleaned me up and got dressed and left. I laid in bed and 5 minutes later, I am out for then night. Woke up this morning around 8am, so I had at least 12 hrs sleep, which I needed to power up for todays festivities. To be continued.

Glad to see somebody has to fly further than me although Utah is not much closer. I was at BB for the second time in November and loved every minute of my visit. I highly recommend the jacuzzi with a chica for 500 pesos if you are not sure if you like her. Saves you a little money if you do not click and muy divertido if you do click.

Sadly I miss the sancocho, chili and Monica almost as much as the chicas.

Here is a picture of one of my favorites. She really knew how to talk dirty in English. Can not remember her working name but you can't miss those tatas.

Sorry the picture had a persons face so I had to repost.

Geez is all I can say as I awake this morning after a long hard night. Feel like I got hit by a Mack Truck.

Saturday started off with a nice quiet breakfast, and sitting around chatting up some new friends. Chicas sitting around in bikinis=bootiful. Sat around bar most of the day chatting, shooting the breeze with fellow "tourists". It's great that you can goto these different destinations and meet up with fellow like minded individuals and exchange stories and learn about other areas that you may go.

Later in afternoon, decided to give the private jacuzzi a go. Pretty much anything goes, proceeded to go with beautiful light skinned Dominican "Sheila". Well we got to jacuzzi which is pretty much a secluded place and found that 1 of my new friends was enjoying a Dupla in it. Nice little boobies everywhere. Me and my gal proceeded to getnin and frolic. Kissing like new gf / bf. Her pulling out my C*ck and stroking in water. Was getting excited and decided to goto room to finish. She was another tight, body. Virtually no fat and wiling to please. Finished up in CG then Missionary, and out the door after an hour.

Washed up and went to the bar to enjoy the NFL games and wait for my new favorite. Proceeded to imbibe on mucho rum and cokes and was feeling pretty good for the Miss Universe pageant. Side note: I could not remember what my favorites name or what she looked like, luckily I did remember her long ass painted fingernails she was playing on my Blackberry the previous night. So I found her and we agreed she was TLN w / me after the contest. The contest was pretty good with 5 ladies in 3 rounds, normal dress, bikini, and gown. A lot of parading around and dancing on everyone and showing their skills. Overall good show.

After contest went to the bar and bought a few drinks for me and favorite and retired to BR. I was trashed and we proceeded to shower and give it a good go for an hour or so. Last thing I remember before I passed out was her feeding me potato chips.

Awoke around 6am feeling like shit, and trying to get a quickie but my gal was having none of it. She was too sleepy. I was like WTF but with perseverance and another hour of me pushing up against her, she gave in. LOL. Fell back asleep and awoke Round 9. She was still asleep so I went to breakfast with the guys and when I went back to room she was getting up and ready.

She left and me and a few guys walked to beach, which is about a 2 minute walk and sat around beach bar and restaurant for a few hours and enjoyed the sights and sounds.

Returned to BB's and started drinking around 3 ish. Decided to jacuzzi with a beautiful little blonde with big, round perfect booty. Her ass crack stuck out of the back of her bikini. Oat of guys were ogling her bund a. Took her in and played around and she gave me bbbjcimws. She wanted to goto room to finish but I decided to hold out. We talked about a ST in Tuesday and I inquired about el culo and she said yes, but take it slow I smiled and thanked the lucky stars and look forward to my next date with her.

Guys when I say Ass, I mean ASS. To be continued.

Continued with my the rest of my day. After returning from the beach we sat around the pull and I ate fresh oysters and conch from a vendors that comes by throughout the day. Very good but could get expensive. Total $24 for about 25 oysters and a bowl of conch. He shelled them, loosened and out lime and hot sauce and handed them to you.

Me and 4 other guys walked into Costambar called " Beakers" and had their daily special. BBQ Grilled pork chops with slaw and baked potato. Very good local establishment with local flair. Good music, noises, all around nice place

Return to BB's and puled the trigger on "Roni". Gys when I say beautiful, I Mean GORGEOUS! Lomo my friend, you can confirm this. She is a 20 hr old stunner, tall, curves, beautiful natural C's long legs and model face. ST and we took a shower, me staring at here breasts of beauty. Proceeded to goto bed and she started with nice long BBBJ. Someone taught her how. Thanks you to that someone. Then onto missionary and then switching to cowgirl. She's a little shy, but all together nice time. I set up a tLN and dinner with her for Tuesday as I want to tKe her in slowly. Then off to bed for safari tour on Monday Am.

Monday started was a pretty uneventful day, as I had a jeep safari tour scheduled and it was an 8-5 excursion. Breakfast with the group of guys, and then onto tour. Big truck with seats in back pulls up to hotel and 3 of us get in back and the only ones on the tour besides us were a Swedish couple. Pretty interesting tour, saw local Dominican homes, plantations, rain forests and did the waterfall. Friggin a lot of physical labor I did not know we were going to do. LOL.

Came back to Blackbeards and decided to chill. We did decide to goto Cristals which is the strip club Puerto Plata. Crazy as once we walked in the gals circled us like wolves. Imagine you are the only guy in the middle of beautiful gals with smoking hot bodies. Overall good night and came back to BB's and watched football game. Went to bed.

Tuesday here at Blackbeards, started with our breakfast club in the AM. 1 of our amigos was leaving and heading back to the Northeast. Me and another guy headed down to the beach for a few hours. Nice sunny day in the lower 80's.

Then it was time for the 1st session of the day. Remember the ASS girl, I had previously mentioned. Well, I set up a ST for a culo session. Did get some pics with her permission and will post them whenever I download them. Her beautiful booty was just awesome. She said to take it slow, and well I did start slow. But.". Culo, missionary, cowgirl. Good times had by all.

Me and some of the guys headed to a little town called Playa Dorada. Walked around doing the touristy thing. Then headed back to BB's. 6pm shift change and new girls, met up with my gal who I've been chatting a few days, Antonia. Decided to TLN. A group of us and our girls headed to the local Pizzeria for dinner and had a great time. Got back to BB's and retired for the evening. Great session. Dfk, BBBJ, doggie, CG, rcg. Good times. Tall, red head, beautiful face and body.

Wednesday was a relaxing day. Breakfast with the boyz then headed solo to the beach for sum some and relaxing. Sat around a couple of hours then met some guys at Ton and Ramona beach bar / restaurant, drank few rum punches. Then headed back to BB's late afternoon to check out shift change, morning gals leaving night girls coming in.

I had all intentions of chilling out, but caught a glimpse of a gal I had been making eyes with the past few days and decided to take her to the jacuzzi to check out our chemistry. Her name is Kenya and we did have a little chemistry. She looked good in her little bikini and perfectly round ass. She is all of 5 foot 100 lbs. I could easily lift her whole body up. We made out, and made plans for a TLN later in the night. No bodily fluids were exchanged in the pool, but I did get a mouthful of jacuzzi water when I was putting my mouth between her legs. Arghhhhh.

For dinner a bunch of us walked over to Beakers for dinner. They have only 1 special a night. Wednesdays special was Belgium beef stew. Was very good. And once again the local flair, atmosphere was great. Experiencing the local customs / environment is 1of the things I enjoy.

Returned to BB's for the night. Drinking, shooting the shit, being groped by the chicas was very fun. Mamasan talked us into playing musical chairs with the ladies and we had a blast.

Decided to Vamanos with Kenya around 11pm. She has such a cute face, little body, braces and all. 24, 2 bambinos I found out. Very good session. Any which way and all positions.

She had her English / Spanish translation book and wwe laid in bed going over different phrases. Then off to sleep we went. Awoke around 8 and did one final leche. She finally left around 9 am and I went down for breakfast. Still having a good time on day 6. Am getting tired and feel I need to sleep more. To be continued.

The theme for the 1st part of my stay around and be man-candy all day. Towards the end of my stay I find myself getting out of the complex during the day. Yesterday one of the gang was departing and heading to Sosua, so we hitched a ride with him and got off in Puerto Plata. Pretty cool city just to walk around explore. Went to an amber museum, cigar making store, went to the malecon, and made a little tour of it.

Returned to BB's and checked out the scene. Disco night with a lot of chicas in their tiny wears. Good night, no session as I am now worn out. Slept anothe 10 or so hours.

Final 2 days. Today the beach tomorrow the bikini contest.

Manizales,

We did have a great time at the Lifestyles Holiday Vacation Club villa we rented though! Two guys, three girls, private pool, stocked fridge (water and Presidentes) , cook for breakfast, multiple activities to do! Arriving on Sunday for the Welcome Party was awesome. That will forever be the best few nights I've spent in DR-remember, this was AFTER staying at BBs for about 4 days prior. Let's see, I think we had Dayana (formerly of La Passions) , Naomi (my favorite and a must for anyone visiting Cristal's) , and some other girl I pulled from Cristal's. They were all really great! The per day charge for guests was a bit expensive ($50US per day) , but, overall, a great investment I think!

Friday was spent mostly at the beach, catching some rays. Had breakfast around the round table discussion group. Disco night Thursday night. Beautiful chicas all dancing around trying to get you horny. LOL.

Late afternoon Friday returned to BB's and hung around bar most of evening. Rained pretty good late afternoon and finally had to pull the trigger with the infamous Johanny. After severalrecommendations across several boards. LOL. She is a cute little petite latina with tight body after SEVERAl bambinos. Session was pretty exciting as she does know how to operate a stick shift and move it around. All holes were functional and I do believe I did tried them all. Dos leche.

I may or may not have satisfied her as her manual masturbation and moaning seemed real but. Only session of the day. I am now getting into my routine of sleeping well at nights now.

There was a disco night again, with stripping, but I missed it. Getting ready for the bikini contest today.

Hi guys, I am coming to the DR for about 3 weeks for the first time in 10 years on 31st January, and the last time was only for a week in Santo Domingo. So I am just about a DR novice. After a lot of trouble finding some reasonably priced tickets there from Europe, I have finally booked my flight out, but not yet my return, still checking prices and dates. Do you have to have a return flight in order to be allowed in the country, do they check for this at the airport?

I have been trawling through pages upon pages of the ISG in order to inform myself, but I still need to ask some questions as the DR threads are pretty overwhelming and go on forever. I am still hesitating where to stay at first on the north coast, an all inclusive for a week to begin with? Maybe BB's or New Garden hotel? How does the quality / reliability / prices of the New Garden girls compare to those at BB's, and is it a nice place to stay / relatively hassle free. I read a posting here saying the girls there try to inflate prices more than those at BB's, is this generally the case?

As an alternative to getting taxi's everywhere, or buses, what about renting a motorbike from a local, any possibilities to do this, do the police stop / check foreigners a lot? I remember last time I was there, I asked some young guy on his bike at Boca Chica, and he seemed quite interested in the idea. Or what about cycling / renting a bike, or is that too dangerous on the roads there?

I sent a few e-mails to apartment rentals from vrbo, and had a reply from The Palms. Sousa Vacation rentals, does anybody know it? Is it chica friendly? Another hotel which looks fairly interesting is Sousa by the Sea, same questions go for that one please! I would not mind staying in a nice all inclusive for the first week, but I suppose all of those in general are not chica friendly, am I right? Any advice for this DR virtual novice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers for now.

Also, any updates on the place that used to be Field of Dreams?Field of Dreams is a members only club now. You cannot even walk in off the road and buy a drink. In fact they have built a fence along the main road to hide the place completely.

A friend says it works out about US$600 per night all included and the place is covered with vulgar murals inside and out.

If you want to explore, rent a car. Don't consider a bike, too dangerous out on the roads. Driving here is pretty hairy but if you expect the unexpected you will manage.

You don't say which country you are coming from but Jet Blue is best from the Continent and Thomson is best from UK. You can rarely get a flight only one way from the UK but you can get a one way back if there are seats available. You are supposed to have a return ticket but it doesn't seem to matter. I often fly out on a cheap return and throw the return bit away and look for a oneway going back when I am ready. If you overstay by more than a month you pay a small fine on departure. BTW, don't for get you need $10US tourist tax coming in and $20US departing.

Here is my report on Blackbeards. I stayed there from December 20th to the 28th. For me, it was the closest thing I'll ever have to (what I imagine) it must be like to stay at the Hefner Playboy Mansion. Just heaven. This forum was very helpful in knowing what to expect. The prices, as mentioned in this forum, were fixed at 1500 pesos short time (one to two hours) and 3000 pesos for an all-nighter (this could be from 6:00 pm to 10:00 the next morning). I usually gave the girls a tip and / or some small gifts (chocolates, soaps, etc.) if they were especially accommodating.

If you develop a relationship with a girl, she will be much friendlier, and will put out as many times as you want during an all-nighter. The thing is that you are surrounded by beautiful girls 24/7. They are very friendly. You can talk with them, have breakfast or dinner with them, play pool with them, dance in the bar or disco, relax in the jacuzzi. They will flirt with you, but I never felt pressured by any girl to go with them. It helped a lot that I am fluent in Spanish. I even took one to a karaoke club on the beach one night for singing and dancing.

Out of the 50 girls I met, only about 10 were attractive enough to me to want to spend time with. I like slim, young and lighter-skinned girls. My favorites were:

Kirsia: beautiful body and nice personality. Has 2 kids.

Sabrina: Very sweet. 24 years old, has an 8-year old daughter.

Magdelin: just turned 20, has 2 kids ages 2 and 4. Very sweet.

Chantal:. Just turned 19. Smokin' hot body and knows how to use it.

Rony (Roniela). Just turned 20. Very sweet.

Beyonce: petite, great body. 20 years old.

I generally took one girl during the afternoon, and then one at night. I had 2 all-nighters and one duplex (2 girls at once). Little blue pill helped me keep it up all week (I'm 63).

Food at Blackbeards was very good, and inexpensive. I ate a few times at the Italian restaurant Sole Mio a couple of blocks away. Spent about an hour on the beach every day. Room was very comfortable and clean. There were very few men staying at the resort that week, so I got to know them pretty well. Some guys my age, some younger (one was 26, two guys in their 40s).

We compared notes on the girls, shared experiences. This was very helpful.

Had sex in the jacuzzi a couple of times. That was incredible! Fortunately we were alone each time.

The whole week cost me about $2, 000 US.

Flight: $600.

Room: $440.

Girls: $800.

Food: $260.

Would love to go back some day, if the opportunity presents itself.

Some stuff I left out of my report.

Almost all of the girls would do BBBJ. Only one allowed CIM. Some don't like French kissing.

They like to watch TV with you in the room. They like the cartoons, but I usually put either MTV or the porno channel (free). They are all very clean, showering before and after. I enjoyed showering with some of the girls.

Chantal and Kirsia are (fake) blondes. Chantal has the most gorgeous green eyes. She is not much of a conversationalist, but her young, smokin' hot body makes up for it.

There is a (free) computer in the lobby for internet use, and free wi-fi in the lobby if you bring your own laptop.

Tennis courts nearby on the beach. Several beach restaurants to have lunch or a drink. The beach is beautiful, water was warm the first few days I was there. Some of the girls will go to the beach with you if you ask. I saw Sabrina on the beach one day with her family. You can rent a lounge chair on the beach for 75 pesos for the day.

i covered my first night in sosua in the appropriate thread while i was still there in a previous post. this post is to cover my recent stay at bb's. first of all, i would like to say that bb's is an awesome place to start if you are new to developing latin america. i felt safe there the entire time, not only in bb's, but in the surrounding area of costambar. the girls there are top notch, and the staff really takes care of you. it made a wonderful home base for me, but i had an experience that made me want to be there less and less as my trip progressed.

my second day there, after going through several very fun girls in the place, the mamasan introduced me to a new girl who was in her first 30 mins at bb's. trying to beat my new found friends to the punch i went right over and introduced myself in spanish. i quickly discovered that this girl spoke wonderful english, was sweet as she could be, and was a little apprehensive about everything that was going on in bb's. so, against the advice of my peers, i played captain save-a-ho for a little bit. what i discovered to my great astonishment, was that she wanted to play captain save-a-monger with me. i was learning so much that i kept this girl on retainer for the remainder of my trip. the innocence was partially an act i found out quickly when i discovered she is a badoo girl, and, as a result kind of a semi-pro before working at bb's. in any case, she and i hit it off quite well. everything from her was so good it didn't even seem like a service. she also helped me out with my spanish quite a lot. the time i spent with her included lots of meeting the locals and getting a lay of the land for the area so to speak. i got to see a little bit of the barrio she is from just outside of costambar as well. it was amazing how much less expensive everything was with her walking around with me. to me bb's has a similar feeling of insulation to an all-inclusive without being all-inclusive. the cool part though is, if you choose to leave and explore, it makes a great home base with everything you need right there if you want to eject from dominican culture at any point.

as i explored costambar with and without her, i came to an interesting conclusion i had not considered. since i am under 30 and speak passable spanish, it would appear that the dr is my oyster. the friendly looks, flirtation, etc. that i encountered everywhere i went makes me think that my next trip will be a quest for non-pro action. bb's is awesome for what it is, expensive for the dr, but it's like the biggest juiciest fish all in a barrel right there waiting for you. if i were 50 or older, i would never want to leave there. if you want to aim your speargun at some of the most choice fish in a tiny aquarium, bb's is certainly the place for you. and while it is expensive by dr standards, i still finished my trip well below my budget without worrying about what i was spending.

i have a few pics to post in the photo gallery which i will get to a little later on today hopefully. this post is meant to be more a general summary of the experience rather than a direct bang report.

i plan to return this spring / summer possibly and rent an apartment for a minute. i know some guys on this board take the non-pro approach. i am curious about strategy. the girl i spent most of my time with there wants to introduce me to some "good girls" next time i come back, and of course tells me that she wants to be with me and will always be the same for me even if she is a bb's puta when i'm not there. i'm not totally buying that as the best approach though. i would like to think that i am a little sharper than that. i get the feeling she will be a hardcore puta with an agenda when i come back. for a guy in my position though, it seems that a week to a month of infatuation and simulated relationship is more satisfying than a fiesta of sport-banging, and a lot less expensive at that.

being semi-fluent, would i do better in the countryside? i was planning on renting a bike and going with some expats i met on a ride into the boonies for a weekend when i go back. should i play the badoo / dominican cupid game? i suppose also that since i'm not looking for point and click mongering as much, i might do ok to venture to places other than the north coast? i am a newbie who has read the forum pretty far back, but my synthesis of ideas to answer these questions is incomplete. don't get me wrong, sport-banging is a blast, and i judge no one for doing what they want to do. the girl i was with this whole time just showed me that i might feel like i had a better vacation for less money doing it the other way.

any info, anecdotes, or experience you guys can send my way would be sincerely appreciated whether it be through pm or replying to my post. the info on dominican culture as well as the info on handling these girls was invaluable to me on my trip, and i would like to thank everyone for preparing me for the best vacation i have taken in my life.

The day I left, the girl I spent most of my time with said to me in Spanish,"When you came here you were a stupid gringo, and now you are leaving as a Dominican gringo." That was my Film Noir moment. I only wish I could convey tone and inflection in writing to describe how much it reminded me of "Casa Blanca". One of the coolest things I heard the entire trip.

Thanks for taking the trouble to report, Monger 1337. A very fair and thoughtful report too. I am glad you had a good time.

Only minor quibble: "Casablanca" isn't Film Noir. Takes a bit more than being filmed in black and white to qualify for that honor.

as much as i like the bb's girls and it amazes me how great they are day after day, especially since there are some real a-holes that show up from time to time take what they say with a grain of salt. we all leave with promises from the girls, numbers to text, email addresses, facebook connections, etc. once you get to know other mongers and keep up with them you realize everybody is getting the routine. so dont get to attached or worry if she will be hardcore. imo don't over think the dr, take it for what it is and have fun!

just my 2 cents.

Doker44 makes a good point-most of us who call DR our second home have run across the girls that seem too good to be true. To me, it makes for a great experience to find the girl, who, rather than rack up the numbers of clients (and therefore, the dollars / pesos) , is content and in search of the guy who treats her like a girlfriend, even if for a day / night, weekend or a week. The key is, don't believe that you are their only show; for some, this is simply their M. O. Enjoy the experience for what it is-even fall for the fantasy-allow yourself to believe that this is YOUR chic and know that she will do anything for you. But, understand the nature of the game. Even if she doesn't get money this time, or next time, that is her ultimate goal. Treat her with respect as a woman, but, respect yourself and always remember her alliance is to her family and her puta sisters and she needs money to make ends meet. To be sure, you can have a great time and walk away with self respect if you give her a little something even if she doesn't ask for it. You can frame it as "for the kids" or "for the family" or "for some new clothes", but you will feel better and guiltlessly be able to bounce between a handful of girls who have made you feel like the greatest guy in the world without any ill will from the girls and without feeling like you are getting played.

7 in service and looks will be the minimum cutoff.

7 in service and looks will be the minimum cutoff. The majority of girls at BB give good service. Buy them a drink, look in their eyes and try to develope some chemistry. Also there is a video I made last month of BB bikini show in the "Gogo forum". Most of the chics are there or can be called. Number 8 is my one day future wife but she doesn't know it yet LMAO.

7 in service and looks will be the minimum cutoff. I'm not aware of any "chica list with rankings" here or elsewhere, but I wouldn't (didn't) let that deter me from going to Blackbeard's. There is a bulletin board alongside the bar, with photos of the winners of past bikini contests, but I realize that doesn't do you much good until you get there. (Also, they do have a definite turnover of chicas, as some of them don't fit in and others leave eventually for greener pastures. But I suspect they have plenty of new "shipmates" ready to ship aboard at any time, too.)

Their newsletter (you have subscribed, haven't you?) gives you a good idea of the kind of chicas they have around. According to the 18 Dec 2010 newsletter, they have fifty or so; I'd be confident you'll find several that suit you.

When you get down there, talk with Flor or Crystal about your tastes, desires and expectations; I'm sure they'll be able to line up a roster of chicas who will float your boat.

Have fun, take photos, and let us know how it went!

Cheers,

Westy

Check Kayak for a fare comparison.Charlie Horse is correct. If you check Kayak and / or CheapTickets for a specific date that is the least expensive fare for the dates you will find, there is no magic wand to wave. The trick to a lower fare is the date, February school vacation week is going to be high, flights within less than two weeks will be high. Also always check different days of the week for your departure, leaving on a Tuesday or a Wednesday is almost always the cheapest but search other days also, but no need to search other websites as you will not find a lower fare so don't bother.

What fare prices are you seeing? I fly out of EWR all the time.EWR has that non stop to POP so if you have to pay a little more it beats a 5 hour or over night layover in MIA. American is getting sneaky with their pricing when I checked last week. From Tampa you can fly over for $97 on a week day. But coming back they make you pay $212 for a same day return. But the overnight layover in MIA is $150.

Joeydude1 their is a spirit flight to Santiago but it gets in at 3am. And if you catch a cab to Sosua its $80-100 one way. The bus doesn't start till 6am and its about 300p. I took it once rented a car and got to Sosua at 5am. Then I fucked up and found a ending party to jump in on. So now I'm jetlagged, tired, got a headache and buzzed. My bio clock was fucked up the whole trip. If you take the 3am flight rest up on arrival (cabana) or hang in Santiago.

I am amazed how expensive the flight are down to DR from NYC area. I want to go down in the next coupe weeks. Any clues on finding some better fares. Maybe fly into a different DR airport and driving.

ThanksI remember when flights to D. R. Were like three hundred and change, you just have to keep checking everyday. I just got lucky and got a flight to Costa Rica on Spirit for $289 on priceline and the next day it jumped to $484, and this flight is in September. The prices go up and down.

Man glad I wasnt the only one noticing this! I track prices all the time and they are as high as they have been in 2 years right now and have been since around Jan 1. Damn sure wish I had bought in Dec!Now check this out.

Continental Airlines
EWR - SDQ (taxes and fees an additional $135 +/-)

1/18 $268.

1/19 $218.

1/20 $268.

1/25 $358

One time Jetblue had a sale JFK to SDQ (santo domingo) , one way fare of $49, the taxes and fees on that $49 ticket was $56.

US citizens have to buy a $10 tourist card when they get off the airplane. I am not sure if Europeans or Canadians have to pay some departure tax.

Good info guys, if I get a flight to SDQ, what would a cab or car ride over to the other side of the island be like. Just trying to weigh different options.

To take a cab from SDQ airport to the north coast would cost you somewhere between an arm and a leg. Flying into SDQ to get to the north coast is not a good option. You could take a cab from the airport to the bus terminal ($40). Next you would take either Caribe Tours or Metro Bus to the north coast (about $10). From SDQ airport to the north coast figure about 5 hours travel time.

If you have an early flight home you would need to leave the north coast a day before your flight.

The killer for the DR is the approximately $130 in taxes and fees added to the price of every ticket, that goes to the Dominican Government................The DR doesn't get all of the $130. The DR gets about $90 for every tourist coming into the country. There is an airport fee $30, airport infrastructure fee $30, $10 to get into the country, and $20 to get out of the country. Look on the bright side, you get to use the luggage carts FREE.

Over charged $20 USD by taxi drivers. Extorted by Road pd $20. Taxed for visa$10. Endless haggling with chicas for services $35. Free cart at airport priceless!

Just wondering what the current exchange rate is at Jenny's since it's usually a little bit more than average, which seems to be almost 38pesos to the dollar.

Going to BB in a couple of weeks wondering if the availability to go skiing or climb trees is part of the iteniary or is it too much of a hassle? No hassle, but snowfall has been poor this year. There was only about three inches in Puerto Plata.

Climbing trees sounds more promising. If you throw down coconuts while you are at it you might pay for your holiday.

Just got back from 3 days at BB. The nearest comparison I have to BB is Livingstone's Lodge (LL) in Bangkok. All in all I find LL a little more friendly and relaxed. But the facilities at BB are certainly better. Anyway here is my personal comparison of the two

1. Things to do within walking distance (LL is better)

2. Management interaction / support (LL is better)

3. Physical facilities (BB is better)

4. Constant availability of companions (BB is better)

5. Food (LL is better)

6. Ease of access from the US (BB of course)

Both places are not for the serious mongerers who are looking the cheapest best etc, but for us older farts who are beyond their prime, both offer a nice relaxing vacation.

Doker44You can read Giotto's (the owner / manager) forum for more info. One nice thing is that he is always there on-site and is very knowledgeable of the Bangkok scene. So is the staff. So pretty much is a one stop for info on where to go depending on your taste. Like BB, the staff has been there a long time as well. LL has more or less the feel of a club if you will. On the street that it is on. Soi 33. There are also a bunch of massage places, bars etc as well.

I have a question about the girls' behaviour outside the resort.

I would like a girl who is happy to leave the resort and go to discos in the evening (if there are any?) Is the girl happy to do this. Or is she been looked at condescendingly by the locals?

When you confirm your booking with BB is there any point in mentioning what you are looking for (e. G. English speaking)?

Thanks

I stayed there once for three days and quickly moved on and never once even considered an on-sight girl. Much better was right around the corner.
Plus, you can walk out the door of Giottos and there are hundreds of girls milling about, so why pay extra for a place that has take out?

This isn't the same as BB. BB sits isolated on a beach without a huge working girl scene nearby. As far as Giotto's being a good place to go in Bangkok, to each their own, but right down the street at soi cowboy it is much hotter and more fun, and you can get places near Nana for $35 bucks a night that are nicer rooms and totally girl friendly. No one with half a brain in Bangkok needs help mongering. If anything, you need a wingman to beat the girls off.

I don't think the comparison stands up very well.

ThanksYes you can find a girl that will be happy to do this. These girls are at BB's all day and night. Week in and week out. So most will be glad to leave the place. She will not have a problem but there maybe some places you can't get into or some places like Ocean World were YOU will get the death stare.

Yes you can request a certain type of girl. Sometimes BB's remembers the email or phone call other times they dont.

Hope this helps.

Depends which discos you were thinking of visiting. If you visit tourist discos in Playa Dorado or those on your doorstep in Costambar she might get a few condescending looks from a few snobs who know the score but most of the clientele won't realise she is a hooker or won't care. Some of them will be hookers themselves.

If you go to Dominican discos in Puerto Plata like Orion, Terazza Caribe or La Canita (any of which would be a lot more fun plus cheaper for the drinks) then she will get more envious looks than otherwise. Most of the other women would love to be on the arm of a rich, handsome, sophisticated gringo like yourself.

One tip, be careful flirting with, or even smiling at, other women in the disco. Not only would your chica be humiliated but you might offend some local guy to your cost. Most of the clients go as pairs or in groups and stick to that. They don't leave the people they came with to enjoy a dance with a stranger as happens in many First World countries.

ThanksI agree with Doker44 on taking the chicas outside the resort. They would love to hit a disco at night or jump at an excursion during the day even if they are not scheduled to work.

When it comes to confirming the reservation, I would keep it business like and about the hotel stay itself. When you get there, there will be a mamasan on duty who will be glad to hook you up with whatever you like. Don't be stuck on finding a girl who speaks english though, they all speak at least a little and you always find a way to communicate. You will be surprised how easy it can be. Funny thing too, the more the girl likes hanging out with you, the more english she seems to know. Funny how that happens.

The girls love to go "off campus" to dinner, disco, casino or anything you can imagine. They enjoy being away from all of the prying eyes at BB's. Most of the time I rent a car and like to have some company as I explore. If I am going to dinner and the casino I always plan my dates in advance so she knows how to dress. What is appropriate at BB's may draw unwanted attention to you in a more public place. The same is true if you plan on taking one or more girls with you to ride the ATV's or another activity that will require specific attire. Another tip is set a time for her to meet you if you are making plans for later or the next day. Remember that they are on Dominican time and are late 95% of the time.

Make sure your date knows what you are going to do and what to expect. Are you going to dinner and then the disco. Is she going to stay the night with you or are you going to send her home at 2am. What are you going to pay her? Day trips again need to be agreed upon in advance. How long will you be out? Will you be having sex? The more discussion you have in advance the better your experience. I have seen some less than happy endings when there was no discussion in advance. The mamison can help a great deal if language is a problem. Do not assume she can read your mind.

Trip # 4 in 2 years. Love this place. Travelled with my same 2 wingmen from our previous trips. Exchange rate fluxed from 37. 25 to 37. 6 pesos Road=1 USD during our 6 days.

Started with 1st 2 nights in Sosua. Stayed at our usual place, Hotel El Rancho, $50 a night during high season. Chica friendly. 5 minute walk to everything, located on a much quieter dead end street on the way to Casa Marina AI. Good security here, cheap and filling breakfast, no need to leave for that. Had a decent dinner there too. They make you walk the Chica out for your security. 2nd floor rooms quieter and more secure.

The street cleanup has resulted in a lower pussy count. Best to go out earlier and stake your claim. M / F ratio seemed less favorable than past trips. Went to Passions first afternoon. My wingmen liked their bangs but mine sucked soooo bad I walked out on her without blowing a load. She just sucked. YMMV. Cost=2500 pesos. Went straight over to that new place, Carribean Men's Paradise (CMP). Had a beer, not too impressed with the talent, we passed. Grabbed some chow and hit the usual spots on Calle Pedro Clitoris, Club 59, etc. Assumed our usual throne in the back at the corner and secured our talent early. Wise move as place turned into a sausage fest as we were leaving. Banged it out OK. Forgot to mention I got a driveby BJ at Belky's massage and barber shop next to our hotel after the Passions debacle before we went out to eat.

Repeated for night 2, can't remember much but I think I had a good time. Just going thru the motions. I'm not a heavy drinker and was sober whole time. Trolled the beach, grabbed some cigars, the usual thing. Went back to CMP and one wingman pounded it out. Some chicas rent rooms upstairs.

Next 4 days at BB's. Check my pics on the separate photo thread,"BlackBeards Box". Had the usual good time there. Went for a run around the area for recon purposes in the AM, street map memorized now. Got a real massage at a place near Jenny's Market. Enjoyed. Good bunch of guys at BB's, lots of good conversation and lies. The famous "Johanny" is back, numerous mentions of her in older posts. She's a FREAK! Recommended. Who can believe a 31 y / o with 4 kids, slim body, absolutely NO stretch marks, dimples, cellulite, shit talker while you are banging her. Genetically gifted. Best deep throat BBBJTCCOF on scene after another one named "Santa". Slammed out mucha mas. Connected with a few. I speak good Spanish.

BB's continues with its excellent American management, attentive staff (by Dominican standards) , uber clean, everthing works, problems resolved on the spot, etc. Their food is cheap and filling. 10% tip included on all meal/bar tabs no reason to tip but a few clinkers on the table goes a long way. Affordable.

Managed some deep convo with the owner, hard to do sometimes as he's so busy and forward leaning. Extracted more detail from him how he runs his operation. Impressive. Don't be fooled, he's a humanitarian, not exploitive towards his chicas and staff at all. Firm and fair. I debriefed some of his chicas and they independently verified his claims. Good guy. Two pics here are of Sosua only, not BB's.

I'll try for some pics after posting this as I don't want to get bumped off. Peace ho-bros.

This is my first trip to DR. I plan to spend most of my time in Sosua. Should I stay at least two days at BB`s?Pointless question. There are a zillion recent posts here and elsewhere on those two locations, plenty enough for you to make up your own mind. We are all different and you don't even say how long your trip is or how good your Spanish is. Some will say spend all your time at BB, some will say spend all your time in Sosúa, others will recommend different ways of splitting your time. A small minority might say "neither" but to a first-timer I would say that is the wrong answer.

Good bunch of guys at BB's, lots of good conversation and lies. The famous "Johanny" is back, numerous mentions of her in older posts. She's a FREAK! Recommended. Who can believe a 31 why / o with 4 kids, slim body, absolutely NO stretch marks, dimples, cellulite, shit talker while you are banging her.

10% tip included on all meal / bar tabs no reason to tip but a few clinkers on the table goes a long way.

Peace ho-bros.Great report Geo,

Yohanny has been back for quite some time and yes she is genetically gifted to have had four kids and the only thing on her body is her tetas are shot to hell but otherwise not a scratch on her. I reconnected with her back in July or August I'm not sure as old age is making my many DR trips this year start to run together. She told me she was considering a boob job. The best P4P sexual experience of my life was her and another legend Ibel in a full on lesbian show / threeway at BB's 4 years ago, totally off the charts, I don't think I ever fully recovered from it.
