Neither has to be better but what are the differences in the experience?

I have visited Colombia and most of Latin America as a tourist (no mongering) and absolutely love all the countries. I am only asking in terms of mongering.

Campo is fairly cheap, safe, and relaxing granted there are a fixed number of generally not gorgeous women.

There was a comment in this thread that San Jose is actually more expensive for mongering than Campo. So is mongering in Colombia cheaper?

I am expecting non-mongering costs in the big cities to be similar to Curacao where I spend $120 a day ($35 car, $70 hotel, $15 food. Yes I am cheap / I save the money for the girls). Last I remember it was hard to get a decent hotel under $80 in Bogota; food will cost the same and then there are some taxis so the end number is not very different.

Smaller cities are probably much cheaper (?). But what do you do outside of mongering. In Curacao at least I can go to the beach if bored or diving.

Are the girls that much prettier and do they give that much better service in the homeland?. It seems to be the same hit and miss from a few reports I read in Colombia threads. Plus you can get robbed and may have to deal with pimps / bar owners.

While a very entertaining read, I did not find much talk about how the Campo experience compares to mongering in Colombia.I have mongered in Curacao and Aruba and St Maarten (lived there) and in Medellin, Cali, Bogota, Cartagena and some other cities. Currently living mostly in Bogota.

For the same level of safety, comfort and quality, Colombia is more expensive. In Campo you are SAFE, the rooms are clean, the girls are good looking with a wide variety, the weather is nice, and you can enjoy a beach vacation at the same time.

Campo is about $30.

In Medellin, you can get a girl at a casa in El Centro for $15, but you have about 20 seconds to make your selection, you can't socialize with her beforehand, the rooms vary greatly in amenities and cleaniness, and the neighorhood is dirty and always has some danger (although much more at night). The girls are about the same, with a few more younger / slimmer girls in Medellin. There are nicer brothels in Medellin, with prices going up to $150 for a quickie in a really nice neighborhood with a nice room. For a vacation, Medellin is interesting for about 3 days, then you have to dig to find things to do (no beach).

Bogota: Santa Fe red light district. Like Medellin El Centro, except that there are lots of options in a small 3 block area, and more dangerous in the daytime than Medellin. Very dangerous as night. Prices vary from $10 for a street girl in front of a short term hotel and up to $150 at a fancy nightclub at night. You do have an opportunity to interact with he girls beforehand. In a nice northern neighborhood, prices start at about $40 and go up without limit depending on the amenities of the venue.

Cartagena: lots of foreign tourists and sailors, can get along with only English, girls are expensive: $80 to $150 or more. Safer, but only if you stick to the main tourist areas and use common sense. Beach is terrible. Old town is wonderful.

Cali: my favorite in Colombia for mongering. But not than many venues to choose from.

Smaller cities have mongering but you mostly need Spanish to find it and negotiate. NO ONE WILL SPEAK ENGLISH.

Service is about the same in Colombia or Campo, but you are more likely to get extra services (BBBJ, etc) in Campo. And if you don't speak Spanish pretty well, you may never even find the mongering places in Colombia. Except in a red light district, they don't have signs.

As much as I love Latin America, I guess I will stick with the islands for now anyway.

It seems Colombia becomes worthwhile if you are a "full time" monger or live there.

Once I saw a girl I paid $100 to in St Maarten in front of a short time hotel in Santa Fe red light district of Bogta. She asked 25, 000 pesos for short time (about $15) but the time was really short and the bed was really short and I could not even completely stretch out, and the neighborhood is dangerous. To get her for an hour in the same ambience of St Maarten I would have to take her to a motel and pay for a taxi and an hour of her time. Etc. Would easily be $100 or more in the end.

Also, since everyone is recommending renting a car, what about when your going to be having drinks in the evening at campo and then have to drive?I have stayed at the Floris hotel. This is roughly 5 Km from Campo. Its a good choice if you have a car. It had a small kitchen which comes in handy as the restaurants are really expensive. Think $30. 00 for lunch. The Clarion has bad reviews as being a bit of a dump.

Having a Car is really convenient and highly recommended. Be advised though that the cars come with alarms that are controlled by a remote that is not waterproof. This has repercussions if the remote gets wet and dies. The car key will not open the door and even if you got the car open it wails the alarm till the remote disengages it. You get to deal with the local tow truck outfits that take there sweet time getting to you if you are on a remote beach somewhere. The first question they will ask is if you got the remote wet. If you answer yes then a tow charge applies. Answering no gets them to take the remote apart to see if you are lying. If all is as it is supposed to be they will give you a new battery and let you be on your way. My advice make sure you know how to use the remote and whatever you do, do not get it wet. Better yet demand an extra battery for the thing at the time of rental. It may come in handy. Nothing worse then a car wailing away and feeling helpless to do anything about it.

Joe Shmoe. I routinely stay at ritz studios. Almost always the cheapest place on booking. Com and I can't be bothered to check other sites. I think it meets your requirements:

But it is really a no frills place. For your $70 a night you get a largish room with painted concrete floor, no tv, decent bed and couch, safe, kitchenette (stove only) , small bathroom with cold water only, and of course AC. It is clean, and you don't really need more but I always cringe at the beginning because it kind of sucks. Cold water and all.

But again if its only for sleeping, it does the job and the price is not bad. I like that you can cancel up to a few days before the visit. Not many places allow that.

They have decent parking too, courtyard type lot.

I drink large amounts of beer in Curacao and that probably helps with being OK with the room.

The location is not bad (above town) and it has excellent ring road access and is pretty much a straight shot to Campo (20 minutes).

It is a little hard to find the first time though (for me anyway).

I am not familiar with the other places, but I remember looking into the San Marco and reading bad reviews; additionally it is downtown with no parking.

In terms of getting places after all the drinking. I have read on many forums that the Dutch islands are very lax about this. Never saw much police on the roads until recently. Not sure what that was about. I have also seen many people drinking beer in their cars. The driving is pretty easy too, generally slow moving so allows you to be careful. In the past I was very lax about this, but it never felt good. I now try to sober up before leaving which is not really hard after a good workout.

About the rental car that is a most do. Believe me a taxi is expensive on the island and most of the places youll love to go would be a $20+ flat rate for each trip!

Police presence especially at night is very rare on the streets they spend more of the time strolling around in campo!

On every corner on the island you can easily find one Chinese snack corner where you can get a beer from less than $2!

Also plenty fastfood: burgerking, mcdonalds, KFC, subway, pizzahut, dominos, denny's, tonyromas. Just to mention a few.

Now do you get the picture?

Cheap hotel+ nice beaches+cheap food+cheap beer+ cheap chicas ($30!) +great time=paradise!

A big mac meal is about $7 bucks. Note that this is not fast food but slow food. If you go to any of the fast food joints you will see.

There is also a good supermarket where you can self cater if you want (case of beer maybe?).

I normally live on one big mac meal a day plus several cokes, a baguette, and lots of Amstel brights. Without the beer about 10 bucks a day for food! I have more stamina for the chicas if I eat very little. So works out very well quasi diet if not counting the beer.

I would not consider the Clarion cheap at $120 though it is on the beach whereas the $70 places are not. Also it is more like 15 minutes+ from the clarion to Campo; especially with the current construction.

I stayed at a new place called "The Natural". It's a clothing optional resort located about a half hour drive from Campo. I rented a bungalo for $80 per night plus tax and A? C charge. I paid $308. 00 for three nights and it was lovely. I brought a campo girl for a night and we had a great time swimming and had a great time on the King bed. Go to booking. Com and check it out. I sent an email to to them directly and they reduced the price of the bungalo to 80 per night as the apartment was not available.

But I found video from Campo! I think video is made a year ago (uploaded July 2011). Same girls that are working in kitchen were in January of this year. I remember because I did not know what is "Sopa de Carne" and one girl pointed horns and had done "Moooooo!" and only then I understood "Beef soup"! It was very funny and we all laughed. I ordered beef soup or chicken soup every night (5 guilders). Very good and recommended. The other dancing girls from Campo video does not recognize. The song from second video "Dit Eiland" is currently #3 on the "Top 40 list" from radiostation Dolfijn 97, 3 FM from Seaquarium beach in Curacao. I would spend a little more and have a comfy room (but that's me). I will be stuck in Miami on a buissnes trip Saturday and Sunday so I booked a flight to Curacao for the two nights. Guess where I'm going?

Here I come Campo. This time I only booked a room for Friday night and plan on finding a hot chica to spend the night with on Saturday. My flight leaves at 07:15 back to Miami so If I leave Campo at 5 to return the car I'll have no problem making my flight. The best part is that the flight is being paid for by the Co. I work for. I wonder if I can add a few campo girls to my expense sheet? (ha ha).

as far as rental cars, the cheapest i have found is budget. the rental cars in curacao sure are old. don't speed or you may die as they are pretty shity cars.

campo is open 24/7 so yes you will be able to have a quicky or two before your flight. i was also book on the late flight to miami and what i did is ask a chica that i wanted to repeat with if i could come see her around 11 am and she agreed. when i arrived she was sleeping. we showered together and. then i flew home.

have a great time at campo. my flight leaves in 4 hours.

rental prices are high on curacao compared with purchase prices. if one should stay more than 2 months, i recommend buying. about the best prices, that depends. do internet research! the worst prices are to be had by just turning up at the airport line of desks, asking for what they have. my experience is that you then overpay about 30-40. nb! there are also many smaller companies that have good deals. look around and find a good deal. (i think the best deal i had was 900 naf for a month all inc. for a relatively new yaris).

They probably know she left at 2:37 because it is a fairly big deal in terms of bureaucracy for a girl to leave campo even during the day apparently.

Holy freaking shit; I just almost literally spent a week at campo. Good thing I booked the cheap Ritz because I was only there for about 20 hours in a week. Other than about 2 hours a day to go swimming and clean up, I was at campo. I did take a girl out one night and we had sex on the beach (playa grandi) which was really quite nice (once we were able to ignore the snorkelers).

Unfortunately I do not have much specifically to report since I found a girl I really liked and spent the week with her (the multa is expensive). I will try to see if I remember anything specific worth reporting. I monger not so much for the sex but for the fantasy of being 18 again (no responsibilities / problems and easier friendship / relationships) and being treated really really really well. It was very funny however, as the security guards would tell me welcome home when I would arrive; and one girl who was always trying to get me called me hombre fiel. The other girls called me the esposo and would apparently ask my girl donde esta su esposo or llegar tu esposo when I was not around. Gave me a good laugh each time. Anyway she is leaving Sept 1 so no need for any details.

The reason I am posting this is mainly to re-iterate a well meant warning that was posted in this thread many years ago. Warning you may come home seriously depressed; it does always take me a few weeks to get back into my normal life. And I am not talking about falling in love here just about how completely off the charts of a good time is to be had with these Colombian girls vs how mundane regular life generally is. Too bad its so far and it is so much better than what is to be found at home.

On my first night I talked to a local guy who said Campo is dangerous because all his friends now travel to Colombia regularly!

Not sure if it's depresion but at times it's all I think about. I have a three day weekend for Labor day and found myself looking at airfares ($1200 R / T this weekend) , I'm home. I booked a trip ($410 R / T) for early October and am counting down the days.

These chicas are real people and will respond to everybody differently. I treat them as human beings with needs and emotions like everybody else on this planet. You can use buses but driving is simple on the island. Do not stay close to Campo. If you read back in this thread I posted at least one cheap car rental company. There is at least one option in Willemstad with diving just outside the hotel room. Check Tripadvisor.

Com to find a good deal on hotels. Last time I was there I booked the Floris resort for $64. 50 plus tax per night (flash deal). From there it's a 20 minute drive to Campo and great diving spots.

With respect to cars, yes everyone be careful the toy cars they rent you in the Caribbean are quite something. They can be brand spanking new and I still leave skid marks all over the island as none of them have anti lock breaks or any safety features what so ever. I would be surprised if they had airbags. When it rains the roads get extremely slippery!

Joe Shmoe, I used to be paranoid too, or maybe just taking my normal precautions. I used to go to campo with only the money I planned on spending. No I'd, no phone, no nothing. Now I am much more relaxed. I even used to be nervous when taking a shower that she was going through my stuff. After a decent amount of nights at Campo with a decent amount of girls, I have never had any kind of problem. This is not to say that it cannot happen, but my experiences have been nothing but positive with all the girls. They all seem to respect you if you treat them well. None of the girls have ever touched my clothes.

Remember the situation in campo is somewhat unique, it being a secure compound.

There was a story some years back in this thread I believe that pointed to the "customer is always right". A local guy complained that a girl stole 100 Fl from him in the room and she had to give it back even though she apparently did not steal it.

The girls are generally very afraid of being sent back to Colombia and do not want to cause any issues.

I did hear a little interesting of the opposite to this. If you mistreat the girls, you will get seriously fucked up. I did not understand exactly, but they will hold you down and kick the shit out of you. If you die, they will throw you in the ocean. Everyone has always treated me well (security / kitchen / bar staff).

I am told that they bring cocaine in on a little airstrip somewhere behind campo. I find this a little hard to believe for some reason (cocaine just for campo?) , google does show their being some kind if disused race track down there. Cocaine costs 10 florin a gram and apparently is of lesser quality than on the streets of Curacao. I have never done cocaine just if anyone is interested;

A little funny because I drink coca-cola at campo and if I call it coca they think I mean cocaine and if I call it cola the chicas think I want anal sex which I thought was just culo or culito but apparently is both.

Most people at campo seem to use cocaine. I always found the show announcer to be a very funny character. We were laughing that he is always saying the exact same thing. My girl tells me that he is so cocked out he doesn't know anything else.

After being at campo for a week with little sleep I was pretty tired of it all and slept for 20 hours when I got home. I can understand that the girls need cocaine to get through three months.

On this trip I was sitting around aimlessly one night around 4AM-5AM for the first time ever and the girls were surprisingly aggressive. Apparently they all go to sleep around 5 AM and all were trying to get one last banknote. The less attractive ones were pestering me somewhat aggressively for food. Finally I found my girl and we watched the sunrise together which was really quite nice! We went in the bar and drank some beers with her amiga and I had two girls on me and kissing me at 7AM on a weekday after a night of wonderful fun. And all I could think about was man this is usually when I am getting to work! Hah talk about a fantasy.

The girls can buy / rent a phone from campo and get the number +5999 63 10 XXX where XXX is the room number. With these phones it is apparently free to call room to room which is what my girl was constantly doing to her neighbor (come and take my money and go buy us some booze / food!). This can be a good way to find the girl you are looking for since it is free for them.

The girls get one free night during their stay. They can use this free night during their last eight days. This means they can go out without paying a multa nor do they pay their room that night.

The "VIP" bar mixes stronger drinks than the strip club bar. I had never been in there before as I was not sure what it really was. They also have yogurt in there. They have ice cream and milk at the outside kitchen / bar. They are also rumored to have cheaper pints of liquor at this outside kitchen / bar than in the VIP bar but I could never get any (ie 55 Fl for small bacardi in VP vs 40 Fl in kitchen / bar).

You can get fruit / doritos in the convenience store during the day.

Campo does landscaping and garbage collection every AM. Ie sometimes between 9AM-12PM; usually not a problem as we were dead during those hours anyway.

You may want to bring a towel (I brought one from my hotel) as the towels they have suck and when you get paper towels is even worse.

I don't think I will ever go to Curacao again and not spend my nights with a girl. No reason for me to go back to an empty hotel room. Especially the not waking up alone part.

By reading this entire thread, I got conflicting reports about chica politics at campo. Some guys said everyone knows everything and more guys said that is not true. I think that when campo is full, like now, the later is true. I did go with other girls and my girl did not know about it until I told her (because she asked). Then she wanted me to tell her which room numbers so she could see my choices and I conveniently forgot and it was the end of it. Separately I asked her if she knows all the girls and she said no, but that they are all generally nice to each other.

One time we came back with a pizza and wanted to give some to my girl's amiga. We were not sure how it would go down since you are not allowed in with food. As soon as security saw us walking towards the entrance with a pizza (on camera) there was a mad rush of security guys wanting pizza. Her amiga unfortunately only ended up with a slice. I may try this with beer next time if I end up with too much (left it in the room this time). I always came in with doritos as a snack, two small bags in cargo pants. Security never found it.

I did bring a whole lot of halls defense sugar free citrus with me. I like them a lot and it turns out so did the girls. Plus they seem to like sucking on them during BBBJ. Makes it better for them.

CamelSnot is right about YMMV with girls. This seems to apply to all but the super popular girls; the regular (not super popular) girls seem to much prefer repeat sessions and longer sessions. They say that spending more time with one guy is generally easier on them then multiple 50 Fl sessions. It makes sense and this is perhaps why you can get longer time at a discount. They can get comfortable with you / know what to expect and they can generally have an easier / better time of it.

The girls say that generally Curacao men are disgusting (unwashed) and unpleasant (enter room grope and then say they have no money) and want strange things; so you get far ahead by being clean and nice to them. The girls do say that in Colombia men are clean and more normal which is interesting.

Also logically if they know you are coming back for more, there is more overall money to be made so it makes sense to be nice to you and even perhaps accept a discount. I think I fell into this category.

I stayed with my girl for six nights informally. There was no agreement that I would have her for a week. Instead I told her that I was in town for six nights and that I liked her and that basically meant I was in town to see her. I paid her each afternoon; a "night" was approx 8PM. 4PM :-D I paid her 375 Florin a night (not by agreement but my donation if you will). On Friday and Saturday she wanted 500 Florin which was fine with me. I generally looked at it as 50Florin per each as we did it 6-8 times a "night". So thats about $1430 for six nights. Now added to that is about $400 in living expenses for the two of us plus often her friend. They were good friends and helped each other out so that I could not say not you when she was at the bar / cafe with us. So $400 for food / booze / entrance / cigarettes / calling cards. By far the best 2K I ever spent especially when compared to all the useless horse shit you spend that kind of money on in the states (insurance. Car repairs.).

Now I know that this is not much but I am simply not rich. I fly to CUR for free and get a hotel at the same price the girls pay for their room ($70) plus $35 for car. So by far all my money goes towards the girls.

I really cannot tell if something unique was going on or not. She kept telling me she actually likes me and I kept telling her nicely she is a good actress and full of shit. By the end of the week she did have me convinced that at a minimum I was a decent guy because I was nice to her and that she preferred to spend time with me vs possibly making more money with many less pleasant folks.

Part of this was that she "gave" me her free day. Ie I took her out for a night without paying the multa. I did pay her the normal amount. Normally they apparently use the free day to go partying in town. So I don't know. On this free night we did go have sex on the beach. Her idea, it was never a dream of mine though it was a very nice experience.

Now we did talk about going out during the day other days but we always went to sleep too late (woke up at 3PM) to go out because she was just too good to me.

The other interesting thing was that she did not really want to go to the beach because she said she was not used to the heat / sun. Understandable since she works nights and does not come from a hot climate. First time I have heard this though. Suited me just fine.

I only left her from about 4PM. 8PM to go get properly cleaned up (not in her shower) and shave. Also always forced myself to go for a swim in the Sea, this is Curacao after all. I was surprised that during those four hours she was working and not resting. Not that I expected that she was MINE, but that I expected that if I only left her alone for a few hours she would rest. I understand that she is there to make as much as possible during the three months, but working 24/7 is pretty hard. I really have respect for what these girls put themselves through for their families.

Zing was right in his answers before my trip, the girls can get a lot more work in Curacao then Colombia thats why they come. My girl works in Colombia for a few hours each afternoon and otherwise takes care of her son. Kind of an interesting life, be able to live from working 2-3 hours a day.

One other interesting story I heard is that lots of guys come to see the girls mainly to take drugs. Apparently cocaine makes you limp. But guys come to just do cocaine and live out the high in private where no one they know (wife) can see them.

As some others have said, these girls do not seem to need or want 5 star treatment when taken out. They are normal girls and generally want American food (Denny's pizza hut) when taken out and will do just fine in a normal hotel not the most expensive one. They also dress conservatively and are generally shy outside of campo.

During this week I feel like I made a bit of a friend and it gave me some new perspectives.

We did have a lot of sex, and she asked several times how many girls I have back home and did not want to believe that I have much less sex back home (6-8 per night HAHA!) ; eventually I got her to consider her sex life and she agreed that when she had a boyfriend the norm was once in a night with a max of three if they were drunk. Also not much chupar.

Made me realize that even if a girl like her was my girlfriend, I would still visit campo.

Its like why you go to a restaurant because they take care of you and you don't have to cook. You go to campo because they take care of you and you can have as much as you want with no effort if you want it that way.

We even had a bit of an argument! One night her friend was having issues with her daughter and my girl was involved (friend's daughter was being mistreated by caretakers and friend got massively drunk / high). I was trying to help as well and be supportive when she told me what was going on. After several hours the friend finally went to sleep. My girl had gotten rather drunk in the meantime and was starting to be a bit annoying. I felt rather bad but told her that she was a bit preoccupied this night and I was not thrilled (I only had six nights). She was drunk and yelled at me that if I think the service was bad there is the door and I should go with the black girl who I was flirting with earlier. I told her I am not looking for another girl and that the service was fine just that there was not much of it. After about half an hour of this, she seemed to get it and fucked my brains out three times within two hours and then apologized about the whole thing the next day. She seemed nicer to me after this and for the first time openly asked if I wanted to see other girls. She was also very happy that I legitimately did not want her younger, prettier friend (she seemed rough / PSE. I was getting soft / GFE) ; once her friend gave me a very sloppy kiss and I wiped my mouth since I do not like such things, then my girl kissed me and I did not wipe my mouth. The friend told my girl this and my girl was beaming for days!

I could have been with more girls, but I am a pessimist and when I find a good one I think my chances are better sticking with it. It worked out this time.

Last January Campo in the evening and night: At least 50 girls (all from Colombia). All diffrent ages, body shapes and from light to black skin. Weather: pleasant after dark around 77F, humid is not nuisance, constant breeze from south-east. For me it was funny but the Colombian girls complain about the cold! Day temp. Aruond 87F, also south-east cooling breeze. Seawater warm. Curacao high season (you pay more for hotels and everything) is December 15 to January 7 (Holidays) , February 1 to March 7 (Curacao carnival) , July 31 to August 15 (vacation in Netherlands.) So IMHO one week is perfect for Curacao.

To be honest: Only fools pay more for standard service.MrCampo is right. Price 50NAF / 28USD is adopted to the local Curacao pay about 20 000 USD / year. So if in the USA, Canada, Netherlands we earn more please not overpay (IMHO small tips to nice girl OK). I talked to a Campo girl from Colombia. She work in the small shop in Colombia and earns only 2 000 USD / year. I`m not greedy but we have an example of a brothels in Nevada USA where price for anything starts from 200 USD.

So I'll probably have to go to Campo only during early evenings until about mid-evening. Hope that will be enough time there to get some fun in each night. And spend the night with one of the girls, often a girl that I already know from other islands. Usually security lets me in with a small bag, like a purse, that has my toothbrush, etc. And some small items to share with the girls. If I need something from my suitcase, I go back to security, get it, and leave them a small tip.

Re security of your things in the girl's room. I have never had a hint of a problem with any girl at Campo.

I feel like I needed my four hours out each day; granted it cost me $700 for car / hotel so maybe I will try a few days "in sexy prison" next time. Taking taxis would defeat the purpose. CamelSnot, from reading this thread, I believe the average for a TLN at campo is 400 Fl and can go as low as 200 Fl and as high as your imagination. Saturday may be tough to get under 400 Fl; obviously all depending on when you start.

Renting a room at Campo of your own used to cost $100 USD, but wasn't available the last few times I enquired. The girl pays 100 guilders per day I think. If you are going to sleep at 5am like the girls, then only offer 100 guilders (no sex included). If you want to use her room from earlier to sleep (I usually conk out at about 1am) , then she has to find another room to work in (not that hard) , so you should pay more. 200 guilders. If you plan to have sex with her, add more to the total. If it is Saturday night, she will be busy. If it is wed night, she will probably not be busy. There is no fixed rate!

Beaches Mambo / Seaquarium open after renovation, beach Cas Abao, restaurants from expensive to affordable, museums, cinema. I rode around the island by the car (best in weekend small traffic) and stopped at national park Shete Boka. Grocery shopping at supermarket "Centrum" or "Albert Heijn" (many varietes of beers). I would perhaps agree that Campo is full of fat cows, but not that most of the girls are fat cows. Perhaps anywhere from 40% to 60% of the girls are fat cows depending on how anorexic you like them. This means that out of the 200 girls, up to 120 are "fat". Still leaves you 80 to pick from. Not sure how that is a problem.

It is true that it does depend on when you go there. On the slow nights, most girls are in their rooms and you will perhaps see mostly the heavy duty ones outside of 11PM. 1AM. ThanksYou are probably going to have a difficult time with your budget and driving situation. Curacao hotels, while a bargain compared to many other Caribbean islands, are still a bit pricy.

There are a couple of hostels that would fit your budget, but neither of them are close to Campo at all. One is in Westpunt, the other is near the Seaquarium. Both are nice locations in themselves but you would be looking at around $40-50 for a taxi each way to Campo and probably at least an hour or two by bus with a few route transfers.

There is bus service that goes right past Campo and runs until around 9PM.

The route is "Otrabanda. Hato ' 4B" For this, it would be best to stay downtown Willemsted, either Punda or Otrabanda. There are a few hotels in the $75 price range; the San Marco, the Acadamy, the Wave and a few others. This would probably be your best bet to come close to your budget and still have somewhat reasonable access to Campo. Taxi to / from Campo and downtown will be $15-20.

There may be some guest houses or cheaper hotels along that bus route, but they would not have an internet presence. A taxi driver at the airport might know. But they would not be in the best areas and the accommodations will be pretty shoddy. These are the places locals use for overflow visitors coming in for weddings and stuff. Or for affairs. Not really tourist or business oriented at all. At the very least you'll probably end up with a small herd of six-legged livestock in your baggage.

Fellas, I have officially popped my curacao cherry! Got back late last night from a 3 night trip.

Day1:

Landed Monday afternoon and picked up the rental car and drove to my hotel. The roads are not the best so exercise caution. I ended up navigating through my whole trip using google map on my phone. I had to fork over $25 for the global plan which gave me data roaming usage. I figured it was a good investment and it saved me alot of hassle. A taxi would have cost me about $50 a day roundtrip just for campo. Its also convenient to have a car for getting food and checking out other attractions.

Yes definitely. A taxi would have cost me about $50 a day roundtrip just for campo. Its also convenient to have a car for getting food and checking out other attractions.

I'd most likely stay at the hilton or marriott. Also forgot to mention the ritz did not have soap / shampoo. For $15 more you could have been at the HoJo in Otrabanda, which is actually a very decent place with amenities, hot water, cold rooms, pool, casino and a great location. Or the Plaza in Punda. The San Marco in Punda is only $75 but has no close parking. It is in the middle of the city where no cars are allowed. Sometimes you can get the Kura Hulanda in Otrabana for around $150. If so, grab it! It is my favorite hotel in this hemisphere. They have apartments for sale on the property and I am very tempted to get one. Otrabanda is easier for access to Campo and everything else on that side of the river.

For about $100 you can get the Clarion or the Floris in Piscadera. The Floris has decent reviews, but I have never stayed there. The Clarion is an OK business hotel but nothing special. Their free breakfast isn't worth the price but Denny's is a short drive. The Hilton or Marriott can sometimes be had for $130-150 but during high season they will usually be closer to $200+. I did snag the Marriott for $65 on Priceline a few years ago.

Even the Airport Hotel is 100 times better than the Ritz, especially for the same price.

Fellas, I have officially popped my curacao cherry! Got back late last night from a 3 night trip.

Day1:

Landed Monday afternoon and picked up the rental car and drove to my hotel. The roads are not the best so exercise caution. I ended up navigating through my whole trip using google map on my phone. I had to fork over $25 for the global plan which gave me data roaming usage. I figured it was a good investment and it saved me alot of hassle. My hotel (Ritz) room was worse than expected but what do you expect for $75 a night? It really didn't feel like a hotel, its more of a dormitory style place. I checked out the punda area for a little sightseeing and a couple of beaches over the course of my trip (blue bay and jan tiel). I tried going to casi abou beach but one of the major roads was blocked. For food I had kfc, subway, pizza hut, denny's, etc. Not the healthiest but I wasn't trying to eat anything fancy. Maybe next time ill try some of the local food. Ok on to campo.

At which airport did you clear customs? Although Curacao is known as a hub in the drug pipeline, my guess is that you just got pulled at random. You could always say that you met up with an old school chum for a dive trip. (muff diving counts as a dive trip!)

I hand over my stuff to the first guy and tell him that there is a sensitive, fragile dive computer in the bag. I'm sure they have seen this especially at MIA where the Keys are such a big dive destination. By being pro-active, they know I'm a serious diver and if any of them start asking me dive related questions, it's not a problem since I've dived (and mongered) in different places worldwide. Being pro-active just seems to put you in a less suspicious angle from their eyes.

I have been to Curacao 7 times in the last 3 months and not once did customs hassel me. I just flew back after spending one night, no hotel, I stayed at campo 500 Fl for a great night of sex with my new "campo wife". I'm going to go visit her in Colombia on October 1st.

I am just lucky to be able to hit the Dutch islands a few times a year. Of course I did kind of push my business into those destinations because they are so enjoyable to visit.

C&BP in Miami knows me well. I've been through there over 300 times in the last 20 years and know most of the officers by name. If you are nice with them, they will usually be nice in return. They are always fair and professional. But if you give them reason to suspect you or get even a little belligerent, they can make sure you have a long day.

Stay friendly, polite and cooperative and there won't be a problem, as long as you are clean. Any questions they are asking are just to see if your story makes sense. Even if you were totally up front with them and told them you go to Curacao because it has a great brothel, they can't do anything to you. You enjoyed a legal service from a licensed business. No laws were broken, unless you have a chica packed in your suitcase.

But in general, if you are there on business, be prepared to discuss your business. If you are on vacation, tell them that you had a good time and offer nothing else.

Just avoid clearing in St Thomas. They are corrupt and can make your life VERY miserable. If you go to STT, fly Liat to SXM and go home from there. Then you'll clear in Miami instead of St Thomas. It is well worth the extra time, hassle and expense. And as a bonus, you'll probably have to layover in SXM for the night (if you schedule properly!) , which is always welcome after the dismal P4P scene in STT.

I just tell them as it is more or less, in my friendly manner. I had problems twice. Once half a lifetime ago when I actually did work illegally on a hot island and deserved that crap, and once in Pakistan I had an argument because I wanted visa on arrival, and it took some ass kissing to get that. Traveled the world around and around since that and never had any issues. When I left Curacao the last time the woman questioned me, but I said I was with a girl and they let me trough.

Stay in Willemstad. Rent a cheap car. You can use buses but driving is simple on the island. Do not stay close to Campo. If you read back in this thread I posted at least one cheap car rental company. There is at least one option in Willemstad with diving just outside the hotel room. Check Tripadvisor.

I would rent the car because the only way to get around is either by car or taxi. Driving is fine in Curacao, the rental cars suck as compared to what you get in the USA. Good enough to get you from your hotel to campo and the beaches.

Nice island on the way to the city you pass thru the spots where the locals live and it's a little run down but nothing extreme. Stayed at the hotel San Pedro. Marcus recommended the spot and it seems its guest friendly. Being that December is peak season the price of the hotel was 90 dollars a night. There was no hot water. The water was luke warm at best and you had to turn off the air condition to not freeze when getting out of the shower. You are right in the middle of tourist spot and the famous water front is two streets down. Food around there is expensive you can expect to spend 15-20 dollars a meal eating around there. The only cheap options are Subways and KFC. Plenty of bars around there to hang out. Do not go from Dec 15-Jan15 will explain later.

The next day we went to Campo Alegre. The spot is right next to the airport. You can see the run way from the camp. We made the mistake of getting there at noon and the place was dead. We bit the bullet and rolled back to hotel. Later after 7 pm we rolled back to campo and it was more lively. The place has over 250 rooms for the girls to work from. The price is fixed of 30 dollars or 50 guilders for 30 minutes and the hour is double that. The place has a club, a cafeteria and there is wifi on campus. Camera's are not allow and if security catches you filming you get kicked out. There was only 50 girls working. After talking to couple of girls they informed me that after Dec 15 is the slow season. Alot of the girls go home for Christmas and new years. The nationalities I ran across there were Colombians, Dominicans, Haitian, Venezuelan. The girls work 90 day rotations there and either go home to reset their work visas or go to St Marten. I ended up with a Colombian MILF in room 112 and she tried to put the grips on me but I handled right. After I pop she told me to turn over and started giving me a legit massage. After my 30 minutes was up I paid her 30 dollars and walked out. It was already midnight and we had to wake up for 8 am flight and we left campo.
