Wow Coll on that Wierd info on the Pono theatere. Did they have strippers there too? Two porn theaters here in LIma had strippers but since I have been here I have seen both shut down. The metro system is still under construction. It is expected to begin operations next year. The route is from Bayamon to Santurce. Part of the route is underground, part is over the street and part is elevated. Buses operates from 5 am to 10 or 12 am, and costs 25 or 50 cents. Taxis are a little expensive.

I have heard of mistresses clubs that exist in old San juan but i dont know anything about it.

Bad news for you guys. The Black Angus and the Miramar are gone. The government put the owner Tursi in jail and razed the area to build a convention center. Most of the girls went to the St Tropez or are walking around El Condado or Ponce de Leon Ave. Have not been at the ST Tropez but a friend told me is buss. as usual with a few police search instances. There is no mapquest service in Puerto Rico. Frenchies is located a few minutes west of carreterra 18 on carreterra 23. The cross street is Andalucia, on the left (if you're coming from San Juan). Very hard to see the sign. There is a neon light that says, simply, "bar". Once you get to the door you see that is indeed named. The hours are 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. At 9 p.m. the place resembles an Elk's lodge on a weekday morning. Nobody there. By ten p.m. it starts to get interesting.

Apparently a 40 minute session with one of the dancers, including champagne, is $150. "Anything goes" is the motto.

Well I will try to some up my trip and share some of my findings along the way.

A buddy and I arrived in SJ on the evening of 6/18.

While we were went to Lucky 7 and decided not to make a move that soon.

went to St. Tropez....much better selection of ladies. GOOD lap dances.

Eventually went back to L7 a couple of days later. Waited too long to make a decision and the place closed on us at 3:45!! Feeling down, and horny as hell my buddy and I were disgusted at ourselves. I do not remember addresses to places. I do remember that Hot Zone was located on a street off of the same street (Ponce de Leon) as Deja Vu. In fact it was the 1600 block so maybe 10 blocks west of Deja Vu except that that street runs one way east so you have ot take the adjacent street(Fernandez Juncos) going west. If you keep looking down the side strees as you go by you should see the Blue Marlin on one of the streets as well. But I would ask a cab driver to be sure. The guys at Lucky 7 gave us the info about the blue Marlin so you may want to check with them. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it's tough to do this from memory( especially when I was drunk as hell the whole time there.).....

Apologies for this very belated report.

Was in SJ last week of May, staying in Condado area. Found a decent MP on Ashford Ave, think it was Pure Moods or Night Moods or something like.

The best thing about the sex scene in Puerto Rico is: flights to Dominican Republic--not too expensive with a little hunting. I have found that the best deals to be had are at Travelocity's Website. On Air Santo Domingo, for example, one can fly from San Juan to Santo Domingo for $139 Round Trip (3 days advance notice required).

And what about by boat? Boats leave from Mayaguez regularly (3 X per week I believe) but the more important aspect is that it will take 12 hours to get there. Not worth the time. Unless you REALLY like boats. Even if you were to charter a boat or go with a friend on his yaught it would still take 8 hours. Though this could be a nice trip in its own right. Important disclaimer: no one I know has ever chartered a boat to the DR, though it may not be impossible.

On a map it looks like you could swim there. Water everywhere, not a drop to drink. Aargh.

Yes, I live in San Juan. My first experience in this "enviroment" was in Black Angus, by 1989. Nice experiences with girls from Venezuela, USA, Corea, Colombia and Puerto Rico. You're somewhat off of the main subject of WSG, so I'll make this short - Yes, San Juan is a great place to just go rest, swim at the beach and veg out. Lots of good food and restaurants, sightseeing, decent night life, but also a good place to lie back and read or do nothing.

Last year I stayed at the Wyndham Hotel on Condado Beach and loved it - much better than Florida.

My experience in San Juan was overall dissapointing. They got you by the balls if your on a budget monger hunt. Hotels are imo pricey, but all the major chains are there. Hard to find one that is very cheap and clean. Isla Verde is where most of the hotels are at. Made an on line car reservation at Charlie's car rental and they have a booth right at the airport. There is a hotel right across the car pickup for about 50 bucks. Blue Marlin bar is hit and miss. For sexy lap dances, the Hot zone. Women are some of the most beautiful in the world. The whole island looks like a bunch of mini jails because the houses have bars on all windows.

It's been a while since my last report, but it seems to me that the point of this board has been lost. May I remind you that we are just looking for a good time and thus need information about the places, people and cost.

Well I will make a review about the state of affairs of prostitution in PR.

First, the places changed, so what if there is no Black Angus, many mom & por operations have replaced them, giving better service than the big operations. And since prostitution is ILLEGAL in PR, you have to hide those places in order to keep them in operation. Some of these places have changed their target clientele and opted to service drug dealers, these guys are serious, so there is no petty crime in the vecinities of these places.

I will give some that circulate in rumors and others that are I have personally witnessed.

In dorado there are at least 2 great strip bars, one was mentioned on this board a year or so ago. The girls are mostly Puertorrican from towns in the interior of the island "jíbaras". Some live in the many housing proyects in the area. The way to get to one is to get a taxi driver to get you there, taxi services use radio to find locations, if one does not know where these places are, he will get the answer for you with one of his buddies. The name is unknown to me.

In Bayamon take ave. laurel until it comes to an intersection there are great nightclubs at both right and left of this intersection. They have signs at the doors. If you take the left there is one in front on SuperMAX supermaret, just as you are going up the hill, its to your left. If you take the right, go almost to the end of the road, IT should be on your right, go slow.

If you take the expressway to Arecibo, take the road that takes you to lares, about 30 minutes along this route there is a place called the Planetarium, famous for the quality of YOUNG girls it has.

If you are near this place, the Doll House, Alcazar and One thats near the condom store that belong to a friend of mine. Take a cell phone, the girls will call you when their shift ends. The best day is either Thursday or Saturday. You will have to stay the night at one of the Motels in the Area, I stayed at the tropical. Payed $60 for the night, take some Air Freshener with you the place was clean but it had cigarrete smell.

Once you are settled, before it gets dark, look for the night spots, they are easier to get to if you at least go there in daylight, make a little map. The hot Area is about 2 miles long here there are at least 10 night clubs with stripping and hooking. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON DANCES, I got overly enthusiastic about the experience and wasted a lot of money, get the girls cell phone number, get several dates for the following day and call the ones you want to come to your room. Be conservative we still got a long way to go.

After you have had some rest, get into your car and drive west you should be near quebradillas, but that depends on where you spent your night. Going west on route 2 you will find in your map, that there is a road that intersects with it (road 10), take it, there are several places in this road, about 15 miles long, One which I saw only 2 weeks ago was full of chicas, a very rare thing in these places, but still I could not go in,I had the Mrs. with me.

On Mayaguez, you might get some University student action at Candies, there are 2 gentleman clubs, one of which I dont know where its at. The other is at the diego street near la plazita. Ask around. Hookers will be on Comercio street, the street by the road, they line both sides of the road, I have seen some lookers working this area. Basically all town streets are littered with hookers after 11 pm, watch out for Transvetites.

Who ever said that Puerto Rico is dead has never been to Lucky 7, I went on a Wednesday around 9:30pm, and there where about 15 very aggressive girls there looking to fulfill your every desire.

The Lucky 7 is on Calle Del Tren in Old San Juan. The projects are very close, so close you can yell up to an apartment so I would suggest paying the guys a few dollars to watch your ride. If you speak spanish it helps but there are tourists in the Lucky 7. So you won't feel out of place. Bartenders are cool and no one bothers anyone.

Old San Juan is safe however I don't recommend wandering around on foot at night. Remember it is a city so common sense should prevail, you wouldn't go wandering around NYC at 2 AM and I suggest you avoid that Viejo San Juan.

When are you planning a trip? I am thinking about June.

I just got back from PR and even though my business was very brief, I did find time to visit Lucky 7. Here are some tips

- The entry fee can vary. I know I read the entry is $8 (plus $1 to park your car on the street). But I was charged $25. I think this is because I am a DUMBASS and left my cell phone in the hotel so I could not call my taxi back!! Later that night I saw guys get in for $8 and they even got a drink ticket.

-The girls are not the best and although I did find a 7 by my standards. (I love that junk in the trunk)

-Avoid the Dominican girls. English is not that good and the service is VERY rushed!!

Overall for a strip club it's poor. But to get your rocks off for $75 it's about the right price. Also for a $10 fee they let me get a $75 cash advance on my card so the expense report will have a $85 dinner charge for entertaining the customer... :-0

There used to be one Frenchies in Puerto Nuevo.

Now guess what:

There is Frenchies II in Ave Ponce de Leon in Santurce.

The original Frenchies now closes at 2 AM due to some sort of decree that prohibits selling alcohol after that time.

In Mayaguez you can also find one strip club (Playmates) just of road number two going towards Aguadilla and another (Millennium) on the same road near Aguada intersection.

In between these 2 clubs there is the Gemini Hotel. If you are lucky you can take the girls to the hotel for all night. Prices depend on the girl ($150-300 night plus $25 room). Although some of the girls are good looking, be careful because some of them are involved in the drug business and they use your money to either buy more stuff, pay a pending bail to avoid jail time, or for paying a lawyer for trial defense on drug possession charges. I had the good luck to visit Lucky7 Wed evening, and came away a happy man. Many thanks to those of you that post information on this board. It is a little difficult to find. Calla del Tern is a narrow little street that runs E-W, and is about a mile west of the Carbie Hilton, near Old San Juan. Only street parking is available, and it is kinda of a rough neighborhood. The door man offered to watch my car for a dollar. Cover was $8, and that included a drink ticket. I was there at about 9:30 and was one of the first guys there. Square, high ceilinged typical bar, with a stage in one corner. I was approached by a series of girls, mostly from the DR. Some quite attractive, some young, some not. Total girls in the place, probably 12-15 or so. After nursing a beer for 30 minutes, I made a deal with a dancer named Lydia, who was 24 or so, wel built and very eagar to please. On Thursday I spent the evening out on the town in Beautiful San Juan. After dinner, my friends and I visited the famous St. Tropez, which is near the Carbie Hilton. It is located on a small side street, but is light up enough that it is visable from the main street that goes by it onthe south. Any cab driver (if they're not on strike!) can direct you there. It is an old style strip bar, and features a wide varriety of ladies, something for every taste. We dropped many dollars there, but none of us selected any ladies. We left and traveled west to the well known HOT ZONE club, located at the corner of Ponce DeLeon (Rt 25) and Bolivar. It actually faces Bolivar, not the big street. Two policea in flak vests on the corner, but no threats visable. It is a hopping bar! Lots of ladies, mostly from PR but a few from DI. All three of us dropped enough dollars to make an impression with a lady of our choice, and we returned at 2:30 and picked them up. We returned with them to our hotel (Embassy Suites near the airport) and had a delightful time. My friend cost me $90 + $10 tip and was a small PR lady named Lourdes.

I will confirm, however, that the Lucky 7 can be a lot of fun. Room charge is $25 but you can usually get the girls down to $50 and that would include anything you choose. I wanted to thank all of you who posted on this board, especially Gianni who posted the picture of Lucky 7. I recently went there and had a good time. I parked my car at the corner where the street that Lucky Seven turns and joins the main street heading back to Condado, on the other side of the street. I didn't feel comfortable parking on the same street as the bar and that area is very well lit. You can also park in front of the Partido Popular Democratia building on that street as well.

I did the same as the others, paid $1 to get in the door, then paid the $8 cover. I picked up a drink and sat down by myself. I made the mistake of smiling at one woman and she sat down next to me. She guided my hand on her and asked me to go upstairs with her. After a while, and the shortest lap dance for $5, I declined. I immediately had several other offers, but nothing I wanted. The reports that follow are from earlier this year, when I was travelling back and forth to San Juan.

Hi everyone,

I just got back from Puerto Rico and the situation is not good for our hobby there. I did some background with the help from this board and it really helped me out somewhat.

First day there, I go and check out Pure Moods on Ashford in the Condado area, I meet no other than Deborah a Bleach blonde Latina with the most clinical manners I have ever met. Get the San Juan Star Newspaper in the back are adds. I always go to Pure Moods or Smooth Moods I can't remember the right name. It's hit or miss with the quality of girl and service. It's much better service if you speak the language. They do outcall and incall massage w f/s. They are located on Ashford Ave next to a place called the condom house. I have had only good to great times there, but it's because I speak the language.

I asked around about sw and there are in areas that a tourist shouldn't go like the projects in isla verde. Stay away even in you speak the language. Some of the clubs and bar in old San Juan are rumored to have sw and the higher end hotel. I never saw them so who knows. When I go I'm bold I ask the hotel help or cab drivers and even the cops. Just a few comments on the availability of outcall and the experience vs in-call.

I lived in San Juan the Condado area for 5 months for business, and have travelled back/forth many times.

The name of the incall agency is "Pure Moods" it is on Ashford Ave. This is an in-call massage parlor. The actual massages depend on the girl, but every girl I saw offered FS, CBJ, HJ, etc. prices were $100 for FS.

I liked best the little Dominican girl named Jessica...small body but very nice.

There are other similar agencys, e.g. Golden Touch off of the Baldority de Castro (Hwy 26) in Isla Verde. The guy there speaks english and can give you directions.

My experience with outcall is limited, and not very positive. There are many agencys (and independents) int he San Juan Star, but I found that the truth over the phone factor was quite lacking. In contrast to say Montreal, where they were HONEST. Or perhaps it was a language/communication issue. Also, everyone's tastes differ.

That is why I checked the girls out at the incall, and if I liked her, then had her come to my room if I wanted, this saves you the house fee ($40 @ Pure Moods) and the FS was less too.

It has been awhile since I last posted; however, the data I collected last night will, I feel, be of value to the PR resident and/or visitor.

I decided to try the Blue Marlin Bar, located in Santurce on Montserrate between Ponce de Leon (highway 25) and Fernandez Juncos. Note: Mapquest results for this location proved unreliable. Use common sense and a map. The street is narrow but the location is clearly identified. Nice bar across the street where you can enjoy a drink and survey the situation before entering, if you care to (the bar is called "La Esquina"). The Blue Marlin bar has its own hotel, reminding me of a location in Costa Rica, of the same name, in the lobby of--I believe--the hotel Presidente.

At about 10 p.m. I entered and was greeted by a pretty Puerto Rican by the name of Carol. She wasted no time letting me know I could feel her breasts and go fukky fukky sukky sukky. I let her know I needed a drink and some time to relax. She obliged and joined me for a Coors light (terrible beer but it keeps me from getting drunk...). I inquired as to the cost of a room. She replied that a room would cost $75 (she spoke only Spanish, as did I). This would be for 20-30 minutes. I thought to myself that on a pro-rated basis (cost per minute) I could have 2 rooms at the Caribe Hilton for that price. I told her I would never pay that for a room unless it was an all night deal. She excused herself, never to return.

The room cleared out over the next 30 minutes. Did not see any beauties, though this is not my primary concern (I like intelligence and "sexy ways" more than the traditional 1-10 rating scale used by many on this board. Just my personal perspective).

The one chica seated by herself informed me that she was waiting for someone. The bartender would neither confirm nor deny that $75 is the actual price of a room for 30 minutes.

I left.

The Lucky 7 has been reported on at some length. Check the past reports. It's a good place. If you need to get laid and it's nighttime, you should go--at least if cost is a concern. There are lots of ways to get some for more, but that is not my intent.

I went to the Lucky 7, paid $10 at the door and $1 for doorman tip (Note: either the cost has gone up from $8 or I was victimized-comments from recent visitors are appreciated). Drink ticket in hand, I could not make it to the bar before being engaged in conversation with an Argentinian woman, blonde. Again, I will not comment on traditional notions of beauty, with the following comment for those who look for "9's" and "10's": You won't find them in quantity at the Lucky 7. Those who do fall into that category seem to relegate themselves to the stage, though they may be available for more pricey action. My budget: $50 for the woman, $25 for the room, $2 tip to the person who has to remove my spent condom from the trash receptacle.

I excused myself to the bathroom to pop two very different blue pills: one valium and one Viagra. Both prescribed by my doctor, though I have never met him and he/she presumably resides in India. Do not ever do this, incidentally. The two drugs seem to negate each other. Felt good though.

When I return, I take a table and the Argentinian joins me and caresses my slowly engorging John Thomas. The conversation is outstanding from my perspective and is not at all typical of what one might expect. This is Spanish only, I'm afraid. If you like conversation with women in Puerto Rico, get a well-educated girlfriend in San Juan or learn Spanish. If you just want to fukky fukky, no translation is required. All the girls here speak that language pretty well. I won't bore you with the details except to say that we discussed Isabel Allende and Jorge Luis Borges. She made notes on two titles I thought were indispensible. She carried post-it notes in her bag.

She said she could read minds. I told her I would test her. If she passes, we go upstairs. How do I like it? (Response "perrito" or doggy style). Correct. What do I like to do to a woman sexually that does not involve fucking? (Response, translated roughly, licking nipples). Not correct. (Revised response: "Sexo oral"). Giving or receiving? (Giving, but also receiving.). Correct. 2.5 points out of 3. I told her I wanted to see her naked and we went upstairs. Room prices have not changed ($25).

She smelled fantastic. Very clean and delicious. Ended with a pounding in my preferred manner. The men upstairs who monitor had some things to say to her afterwards. The author guarantees no such satisfaction to others. I have had one truly horrible experience at the Lucky 7. Smelly, foul mouthed woman who told me I was too drunk and chastised my penis. I have had one other exceptional experience there. This breaks down statistically to 40% high satisfaction, 40% barely satisfied, and 20% not satisfied, indignant even. The latter two categories were my own fault. The way they are with you at the table is the way it goes in the bed.

One final note: the positive experiences were with a Costa Rican and the aforementioned Argentinian. All negative experiences were with Dominicans. Just a trend. More data points are necessary!

Massage Parlors

Golden Touch looks and sounds like an AMP. In fact it is a Puerto Rican version, as are all the massage places on the island. I would be very surprised if you are able to find even a half competent back rub at Golden Touch. It is located off of the 26 near the airport in Isla Verde. Service is not usually stellar. A friend informed me that his otherwise nice session was interrupted by frequent telephone calls (his girl was the only one working at that time of day). I had a session notable for the lack of spirit, though the Dominican girl was quite cute and seemed amenable to making an outside-the-office connection.

There are two others in Isla Verde, which have been mentioned in recent posts.

My opinion is that the MPs in Isla Verde are an indispensable source for safe sex at a relatively affordable price. I have tried the first number in the San Juan yellow pages for in-call massage. Got a very pretty, laid-back girl who offered a fantastic GFE. Lots of bars here have women available. I have two preferred locations: the Lucky Seven and the Blue Marlin Bar. Simply put: I showed up too early and the only available girl wanted to take me to the cleaners. I have no doubt that the prices come down with competition in the room. I intend to go back for more research.

The Lucky Seven is near Old San Juan. It is also near St. Tropez.
If you intend to combine two trips with minimal cab fare, these are a nice combination. Less than five minutes apart by cab.

Another nice combo is the new "Frenchy's Too" (I think this is actually how they spell it) with the aforementioned Blue Marlin Bar. They are about 2 minutes apart by cab. The original Frenchies is a rip-off joint, pure and simple. Overpriced *****house where you have to buy champagne and blah blah blah...then she wants tip...strong possibility of dissatisfaction...management does not give a s***. I have had a nice time making contacts for outside the place. One time, a woman left outright with me, without paying any sort of exit fee.
Nice sex for $100, all night long action. Downside: she was a heroin addict. Upside: she could care less about Frenchy's management. In short, I expect about the same from the second Frenchy's location.

The Hot Zone has been mentioned. It is on Ponce de Leon in Santurce. This is also near Blue Marlin/Frenchy's Too. Good pick-up location for after-hours dates.

Bayamon, Fajardo, Santurce--all have extensive street action. It can be dangerous or not dangerous depending on location and the "smarts level" of the user.

Was sitting here doing some reminicing about a Puerto Rican trip I took several years ago. I dont remember the name of the club but it was a strip joint where the girls danced around on the bar, the bar was a big U shape so they went all around. This ranges from 5 to 25 dollars a taxi driver gets per person they deliver to the club. Saint Tropez and Divaz pay the most to the taxi drivers and for good reason because these are the most over priced strip clubs you could ever got to. Also the strip clubs open at 9pm to 5am plus the massage parlors have different hours I'll post those on this report. Usually all the best action happens at night.

Saint Tropez at one time used to be the premire club, the best of the best but due to strong arm from the police they have gone down in cuality. A cover charge of 10 dollars. Drinks ranging from 5 to 15 dollars. Lap Dances (WITH CLOTHES ON) will set you back 40 dollars. So unless your the type of person who wants to blow some serious cash avoid this club.

Not really you could go to Pure Moods located in Condado just up the block from Divas, they're open from 7am till 3am or you could go to Alternative Massage in Isla Verde which is located right next to the Bamboo and the Pizzeria but i dont know what time they open but imagine early since i have heard some girls work from 3pm till 8pm before the next shift arrives. "La Perla" still exists and unfortunately the Black Angus along with all the businesses nearby were closed by the government in the mid 90s. Now we have several massage places and couple of other places but the golden era of the Black Angus is long gone.

Guys if you don't speak spanish this may be good advice but if you are even conversational take this guy with a grain of salt. He is a bit paranoid. I am an American who is bastante fluente en espanol, I LIVED three blocks south of Frenchies and 2 blocks from Blue Marlin. I spent plenty of time there, the girls are a bit agressive but they wont rob you there...but DONT be stupid and take extra cash down there...my advice is to get to know the people a bit and go during the daytime at least to shop around...dont just show up at night and wander and yeah PR has little regard for the life of the poor but Americans dont die down there. The police are constantly patrolling those areas and they dont stop unless there is violence going on. FS can usually be had down there for tops $60+25 for the room and there are other places than the Blue Marlin. For instance, right up the street a little lady runs a nice little bar that any local can get you into where you pay by the dance (buying tragos) to go in a back room and negotiate anything. Beware, Ive never seen better than and 8 and mostly 5-6's but cheap and fun. Honestly the best bang for your buck IS in Santurce. Mostly Dominicans. But as usual the snake is more scared of you than you are of it. So polish your Spanish and go there during the day and you will have fun.

I saw the sign in Puerto Nuevo near Frenchies but I need to know if anyone has been there and has any Idea about pricing and stuff.I have been there before. Not trying to talk s**t man, but I dont think $121 for oral is that great of a deal considering you could head down to Santurce and get oral and a dance in a club for about $10-20. Granted, she's gonna be Dominican, and if she's a blonde then its bleach, but they're sweet girls and a lot of them really have skills. I just feel that most working girls in PR that are anywhere near hot and are actually from PR, are basically overpriced. I dont pay that kind of money for top notch providers in the states, so why would I pay that on an island where a/c is still a precious resource. Pure Moods is 15 to 20 minutes depends on traffic its in the Condado Area just down the street from Walgreens up the street from Divas and across the street from Wendys.

Frenchies is in the Santurce Area and can be 20 to 30 minutes tops from the Intercontenental via car. Its a few blocks before Hotel Excelsior.

Intercontenintal is pretty fancy they are girl friendly as long as you are discreete. Cab fare should not go past 20 dollars.

Thanks!Unless you are renting a car you are taking taxis. Cab fare is a fixed rate in the metro area, haven't taken one in a bit ,it was $10 one way fare daytime, $12 one way fare night time.

The IC shouldn't be a problem, as if you want to go to the casino, you have to go in the main lobby and pass the elevators for room access. Probably best to arrange to meet with anyone you want to bring to your room, rather than having them try to get to your room door anyway. Their casino was kind of dead last time I was there, and it closes at 4AM. Marriott's in Condado is 24 hours.

Intercontinental is guest friendly, I think every hotel in Puerto Rico is. No problem if you call an escort to your room. If the massage parlor is in Isla Verde, you can walk from your hotel, if it is in Condado, you can take a Bus, A5 bus route, I think, to Condado, 25 cents, or a taxi for 10-12 dollars. Bus works until 7:00 or 9:00 pm. The closest Frenchies is in Santurce near Condado, must be a similar ammount for a taxi ride. Maybe you can find something in the IC lobby or casino, but a better choice is going to El San Juan, next to your hotel ,walking to your left, Saturdays being the best night. Have fun.

Made a trip to Puerto Rico the second week of March. Just happen to drive by the Condom World and remembered the photograph posted here.

A couple of doors down from Condom World was a door that looked like it led to an upstairs of a store front. It had a guard stationed at the door and although the sign was in Spanish and I don’t understand Spanish it would appear it had a sexy tone.

Anyone can die anywhere. No shit. If you are cool and learn conversational Spanish in Puerto Rico, I feel you can basically have a good time and do what you want. I do not think that PR is overly dangerous, particularly for a Latin American populous. I understand there ARE safer areas, but if you are cool and, sure, dont flash money, blah, blah, blah basic common sense, then yeah, Santurce is basically as safe as anywhere else. But I do stress knowing Spanish and the people. Americans, or anyone else, who go over there just to monger with little knowledge or interest in the culture should take the precautions I spoke about in my first post on this topic. My main concern is that you are oversensationalizing how hard it is to get along with Puerto Ricans, and the danger of the situation. No suprise that you are in the media. I agree with Reality. Santurce is quite dangerous. Almost my entire family is from Puerto Rico and I have been traveling to the island since I was a kid. Eveyone knows Santurce is dangerous like every New Yorker knows that East New York is dangerous. If I asked any member of my family if Santurce is dangerous they would laugh in my face because it is so obvious that it is. Most third world nations have a middle and upper class. To think otherwise is ridiculous. Puerto Rico is the same. There are parts of Puerto Rico that are extremely poor like there are poor sections of the United States that would put a third world nation to shame. If you do not believe me check out the Appalachia region. Studies on this region time and time again have shown this to be true so what I say is not just an opinion. Fortunately, there have been efforts to improve the situation. If you still have doubts about the dangers of Puerto Rico check out La Perla, in the capital. Some areas in third world nations are safer than this place. Reality is 100% correct. His is not just opinion but he knows from experience and facts. I grew up in Puerto Rico. Santurce have some bad areas Every country in the world have bad areas and good areas so I don't think Santurce its worst than other big cities like Lima or Buenos Aires. You just have to be careful. I had been in the Blue Marlin and Frenchies and never have any problems.

Well I was born and raised in NY lived there for 25 yrs so I know all about the point in the bronx. Now I reside in Puerto Rico been here for about 3 yrs I live in Arroyo right next to manuabo and ponce let me start with ponce, that town has changed so much now that the new mayor is there alot of the streets where street walkers where are now closed off so easy access to streets is a pain in the ass but there are bars in that area that alot of the girls work unfortunately due to the police sweeps in that part of the town alot of the girls have been arrested and most of the girls are crack addicts, what you have now at one bar is alot of transsexuals and where all the action used to be is near the bus station and market place. Now all of that has changed as far as ponce I have been to mayaguez and they have some spots but like every where else they are all drug addicts including the transsexuals. I have been to santurce and have to say compare to alot of other spots it is not that bad, San juan is mostly alot of transsexuals that are semi clean and the girl girls look like 2's and 4's in my opinnion. The transexxual girls look better than real girls but it is difficult when you are a straight guy like my self to see!! Cause there are no hot girl girls around. Just got back from another trip to PR and wanted to post some general info for those who will be in country for the first time. I'm a Gringo that spent a few years living there.

The drinking age in PR is 18.The age of consent in PR is 14. It is also the rum capital of the world and some bars never close. Gambling is also legal and there are several very nice casino/hotels in San Juan.

When it comes to getting laid in PR I think the best bet are the nice Casino hotels. There you'll meet both independent operators and plenty of Puerto Rican ladies with diamonds in their eyes looking to meet a Gringo. You'll need to dress the part and wear a suit or sports coat (don't worry the casinos are always air conditioned) At least this has been my experience, as there are still a ton of women on the island where being a gringo gets you half way there. Of course you're still required to close the deal on your own terms.

What that means is that Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens but that they can't vote in U.S. federal elections if they reside on the island (Except for presidential primaries). They also don't pay any Federal income tax but they do pay plenty of PR income tax.

The U.S. won PR from Spain in 1898. One famous quotation said, "That the U.S. was interested in the cage and not the birds." Meaning that the U.S. wanted the ability to project power in the Caribbean.

There is very little U.S. military presence currently on the island. Both the bombing ranges on the island of Culebra and Vieques have been closed and recently the largest Naval base, Roosevelt Roads has also been shut down. The only two small bases left are Fort Buchanan (a small Army post) and an even smaller Puerto Rican National Guard Base.

The debates over statehood, independence, and current free associated state status will continue. Just remember that currently the 60% of people on the island receives some form of welfare. The amount of the checks are capped by Congress due to the Free Associated State status. Statehood would mean that the checks would increase in their amount, Independence would mean that they would cease, and continued status means that the checks still keep coming but that you still get to send your own candidate to Miss Universe and your own PR Olympic team...

Just got back from another trip to PR and wanted to post some general info for those who will be first time visitors to the island.

The drinking age in PR is 18.The legal age of consent in PR is 14. It is also the rum capital of the world and some bars never close. Gambling is also legal and there are several very nice casino/hotels in San Juan.

When it comes to getting laid in PR I think the best bet are the nice Casino hotels. There you'll meet both independent operators and plenty of Puerto Rican ladies with diamonds in their eyes looking to meet a Gringo. You'll need to dress the part and wear a suit or sports coat (don't worry the casinos are always air conditioned) At least this has been my experience, as there are still a ton of women on the island where being a gringo gets you half way there. Of course you're still required to close the deal on your own terms.

As for Boricua ladies looking for gringos, you are sadly mistaken. Let me tell you all about the local ladies and what they are looking for. First off Puertorican ladies are a pain in the ass. They are high mantanience horses but if your lucky to land one the benifits are incredible. If you are overweight and are not blessed with an incredible sense of hummor, head to the massage parlor. If you dont like to splurge on your ladie then head to the massage parlor. If you dont have a back bone and have never been in a fist fight then head to a massage parlor.

Puertorican ladies like to feel like they are protected. They like to feel like they will be taken care of both physically and economically, they like romance but dont go overboard, they like men who are hard to get but not ignored, they want a man they can show off to their girlfriends. Its all about balance. So if you dont feel like putting in the time into scoring with one of these fine ladies then dont bother. Oh and forget about 50 year old hooking up with a 25 year old. Go to Dominican Rep or Costa Rica if your looking for a young latina.

If you are serious about trying out the Non-Pro scene here are a few hot spots.

Old San Juan. OSJ is the pretty much were all the young college crowd goes to get drunk and play pool, youll find a wide array of bohemians, young preppies, rockers and some hip hop crowd. Your best bet to get in the groove of things is heading to OSJ, One word of advice though, dont attempt to drive into OSJ tge trafic is horrible, just hop into a cab and youll find another to head out.

Piniones (Pen-Neo-n-ehs) This is the were allot of Dominicans and college kids go to drink beer, eat fried food, and dance to Bachata or Merenge and Salsa Music on the beach, If you have a car i recomend driving in or making arrangements to be picked up by a cab since there are no cabs in the area.

Night Clubs

Probably the only night club i recomend is El Theatro, its probably the most popular night club in PR right now, plays allot of techno and american hip hop and they also have different themes on some nights. So be sure to ask the bouncer what their playing that night because you never know when its "gays only night"

Places to avoid.

Condado - Being as its the center of the gay comunity of PR i would avoid Condado if i were you, not to mention everything is overpriced there anyway with it being the most expensive property and comunity in PR.

Isla Verde - Mostly a tourist trap, All you are going to find there are more gringas, young rich preppy people, droves of couples looking for a romantic evening together.

Sure there are areas that you shouldnt go into (Parts of Santurce and Bayamon come to mind) But they are far away from the scenes and unless your blind and stupid you wont be anywhere near those areas.

Your assement of the knowlege of spanish as a pure nececity is a crock of #@$@#. 3 out of 5 massage parlors will have someone in charge that speaks the language considering that gringos are the main clients to the parlors most local mongers preffer to travel to DR to sastify their needs since DR is far cheaper than PR will ever be. As for Dominicans being treated badly by Puertoricans thats really uncalled for, consider that 40% of dominicans on the island are illegal immagrents who cant apply for the same jobs as legal dominicans can so their options are working at jobs for minimum wage usually manual labor or falling into the temptation to crime. Every year we get more and more Dominicans risking their lives to get to PR, trying to escape the corrupt and abusive Dominican Rep goverment that suffers no ill will from the United States goverment.

Indepence is not a viable option considering that only 7% of the population is pro-indepence the rest is stuck in a stalemate between status quo and statehood.

The US Goverment does not have any interest in Puerto Rico becoming a state considering that a) we would become a swing state b) and far importantly the main source of income in Puerto Rico are pharmacuticals, the reason is they get huge tax breaks for operating in PR due to its Comonwealth status, not to mention cheaper labor since we operate at a slightly lower pay than people in the states. Most jobs dont go over 7 or 8 dollars an hour and these are proffesional jobs. The PR workforce is more focused on benifits than increased pay. If we would become a state the corparate business would suffer.

Thankfully, the casinos are not just filled with rich gringos and $300 *****s. Actually there are plenty of Jeebaros(country-folk) who have come down from the hills to have fun in San Juan. I agree that Old San Juan is a great place to party. Yet the crowd tends to be younger and local and more interested in drinking. I'm sure you'll agree that the ladies from San Juan proper are of a different cut of cloth. Old San Juan is a great place to get tanked and to be seen not to find a local one night stand...Proper women dont have one night stands, now let say you court a ladie for a few weeks youll probably get lucky. Unless ofcourse you are in shape and have a good outgoing personality you might have better chances.

Piniones? You think this is a good place for a Gringo to find local women? This place is great for a beach jaunt during the day but it is a different story at night. Sure there is that one Argentinian owned beach bar that sometimes has a good party going on but the rest of that area is not advised for Gringo revelers. First, it is a Regga-tone (that crappy-ass spanish gansta rap) heavy music scene which means every young, wanna-be, drug dealing punk is there and packing heat to prove it. Locals? Again, if not at the Argentinian bar are probably not the kind you want to meet. Reggeton is not all of the music you will hear, you will also hear bachata, merengue and salsa. I have never had a problem or seen much problems in Piniones, mostly its just the working class wanting to drink, dance and have a good time. Ofcourse if your an obnoxious loud gringo then thats another story.

I've spent plenty of time there both during the day and in the evening and it is also where I've seen the post gun-play, shootings, and slowest police response time.Never seen much gun play but then again I dont usually stay till 4am, it seems like crime usually ocourse between the hours 3am till 6am.

You're right that both Condado and Isla Verde are tourist traps but there are also some great local heavy bars and clubs in each area. Additionaly, how is Old San Juan not toursity?Isla Verde has more comercial bars than Old San Juan, also Condado is just way to overpriced.

Your assessment of Puerto Rican women is also way off base. If anything you describe some New-Yorkian based sterotype of low level trash. You've been watching too much West Side Story...Considering that i have lived in Puerto Rico for 25 years I think i know what im talking about. Newyorican women are another story and you have a better shot at having a one night stand with one of those ladies.

Regarding the Crime Overview, I also agree that San Juan is not Baghdad! But nevertheless one needs to take care.

The honest truth is ASS is expensive in PR. $120-150 in parlors. And $100 in private residences that serve as brothels.

I have some NEW, I recently contacted the pimp of the reggaeton "models"(*****s) that rutinely are paid for sex and then appear in music videos. I am talking about the gatas...By the way I HATE reggaeton.

The guy has an answering machine and you must place an order to get a call back. He asks for $200-300 for each girl, but the girls I spoke to, are willing to go as low as $150. What does this mean? NEW MEAT, and the ability to get those girls on the damn videos.

The other unknown source of Putas is Dominican owned bars in Carolina, just last week, one was intervened and a brothel was in work in a back room. I just need to find some of those bars.

Also I have an Idea on how to get phone numbers from girls, I want to post an ad in the Vocero, looking for girls for a new club, during the auditions I can get their phone #'s and see the quality of the girls, something you cannot do in the dark MP's. First of all, I´d like to know where you found statistics to refute my claim about the crime rate in Puerto Rico. Read the statistics found in my last post regarding violent crime in Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, criminal enterprise isn´t always very clear about the subdivisions of their nefarious activities. There is plenty of cross-over in the realms of illegal enterprise: Guns, Drugs, Prostitutes, Money-Laundering, etc. Additionally, Puerto Rican police are ill equipped to fight the worst of the criminal offenders on the island. Travelers take note and carry a big stick.Okay fuck you with your big stick comment. Second I LIVE IN PUERTO RICO. I have lived here for 25 years! if anyone is qualified to talk about PR its me. Third the police are no sufficient because the goverment short changes them, they get paid peanuts, which has lead to corruption in the police force. Drug trade is the big crime in Puerto Rico but as for guns and prostution, not that much. Rossello closed all the brothels in Puerto Rico and the church groups would jump down the politicians throats if they heard of one opening up again.

Secondly, almost always the best guidebooks and travel narratives are written by foreigners who have spent a year or two in the destination in question. They write with an understanding of their audience and are critical of things that the local has grown used to. Therefore, I disagree with your argument that because you have lived on the island for 25 years means you know what your talking about. This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever read.

Unfortunately, Puerto Ricans are generally too proud to write anything critical about their island so it takes an outsider to give that critical perspective.Not only is this comment bordeline racist but its completly inacurate, Puertocians have written many books critizing the current society. We debate about our future and how we treat the land we live in. So we dont sugarcoat anything, there are mayor problems in Puerto Rico brought about by our goverment and greed. Can we solve it? perhaps over time. But dont sit there and tell me that Puertoricans are stupid and naive because its that kind of ignorance that has made the world a unsafe place to be.
