(This report of mine is about 8 months old -- all the basics should still be good.)

BELEM, BRAZIL:

This town in the north of Brazil is a large but poor industry/fishing city. Its sex scene, while large, reflects this. I would categorically recommend taking a taxi wherever you go. However, as tourists are rare here, there's no "mugging-industry" per se as there is in Rio or Sao Paulo.

O.k. There are basically two boites/whiskerias (sex night-clubs), a brothel and a smallish street scene in Belem. The price for services is low, as most of the customers are locals who don't have the kind of funds westerners have.

The largest sex-club in town is "Locomotivo." It's about 15 mins. from Centro on the way to the airport. You'll probably see it to your left if you arrive via the air.

Locomotivo has about 100 girls working on any night. Most are poor and fat from the country. There are some honeys, though, and the place is worth a look.

There's a motel attached to the place. Girls generally asked about 30 USD/2hours, and a nice room was about 8USD. Pretty cheap.

"O Lapino" is a sex-disco in some rough suburbs in the other direction of town. The two nights I was there were pretty miserable in terms of women. Maybe something like 20 young, unattractive garotas.

I never got a price -- but expect it to bew low. There are no bed-facilities here.

The brothel is named "Veronica." It's about 25 mins. to the south. I showed up at midnight and it was basically closed (though they sleepily re-opened it for me). Weird, though friendly, place. It's located in a big gated compound, with women living on-site.

Never got a price (but expect it to be low) as most of the women were below-par for me. They do the standard "file-them-out-individually" routine, w/ the customer making his decision on an individual basis -- an arrangement which I hate.

The street scene centers around the main square in the center of town. Many of the girls you see here in the early evening will show up at O Lapina later that night. Prices were about 30USD/2 hours. There are a few sex-motels in the area. The girls will know them.

Happy hunting,

Agree that Belem is quite rough for a westerner, i spent two weeks there with the idea of getting laid everyday with stunners, reserved a room in Hilton which is front of the main whoring 'rendez vous' called Bar do Parque, an outside bar with action from 5pm ; those two weeks were a little diseapointing in term of whoring (with some good surprises happily), the quality level both in bar do Parque and "O Lapinha" (the main boite of Belem with shows) was low, and the action on weekdays, when only 15/20chicks could be found in O Lapinha was really calm...the girls were mainly rejects from SP or other states, not so attractives and very pro;
Of course like everywhere in Brasil a gem can be found (a 9), i met her one night in Bar do Parque, and she saved the end of my stay....
I could recommend ' Docas', a large avenue with many cafés and live music, full with locals chicks and sometime semi pros. And of course, like in every big Brasilian city, the foodcourt (4th floor) of the main shopping center (in Belem 'Igatemi') which is always crowded with chicks (mainly regulars, but some semi pros too) and anyway a very good hunting area on late afternoons....i made the experience with a very nice regular chick who came from a far suburb for partying on a friday night and was pleased to being offered a diner, some beers/caipirinhas and a room for the night !!

We may or may not all know much about numbers, but as men we all seem to know what number we prefer when it comes to women, but there is alot of confusion when it comes to the magic numbers 7-8-9-10 . We all know there is a huge difference between a 7 and 9, and we all know what it takes to bring out 10 the card. So the main numbers to me are 7-8-9, I cannot interview everyone, I would like to know what would you rate the photos in WSG FORUM women of Brasil and please dont make this a racial issue, but there s just some people are no brainers.
Hally Berry is over 8
Playboy Playmates are all over 8 agree
so then the minimum is 7 now even if there are some who think Mrs. Berry is a 8.5 it only makes the scale harder and
compare to the other country photos. Would someone please tell me if they think any of the girls in the photos in WSG FORUM girls in Rio are at best .

Man JW Wadd your Report on Belem is great Can you keep us updated on Belem in the future? What about good cheap affordable hotels? How bad is the Aids Situation or catching bad diseases in this city? Dude Pro you seemed to give Belem a different Report while JW gave a great Report. Why More or less? What Is Docas all about?????

Yah, Nibu -- I wish I could help. I'm not planning to go back to Brasil until late next summer. I wish I had more info. For me, though, the brest places in Brasil (outside Cafe Foto in SP) were those small industrial cities with a surprisingly good scene (e.g. Belem, Recife, etc.) I'm sure Belem is still happening because it doesn't depend on the tourist dollar.

Hello,

Can you tell us if Belem has very nice regular girls who are easy to pick up? How bad is the quality at La Pinha and Locomotiva?

Is it very dangerous there? I heard it is very dangerous for tourists in Belem.

Hi Rionut

I am planning to go to Belem on Oct 9 and leaving on Oct 12 for Rio. When are you planning to go? I have been to Brazil before, but only to Rio. So I don't have much experience. If schedule is right, probably we can hunt togather!

Robin

Rio Nut

Yes, I may be there the same time! If so, we can hunt in a pack like wolves.

But why did you choose Belem?

It seems quality has gotten bad in past years in Belem. Maybe they are all going to Fortaleza where the European money is??? I read that there was no European tourists in 1999 in Fortaleza. Now it is almost a Italian colony.

So Belem may have been good. But not bad. Who knows the truth.

Lapinha has now closed (according to a taxi driver).

Locomotivo is still open, a big brown ugly building you'll probably pass on your way from the sirport. Motel is attached, girls wanted 100R$ to 150R$, a bit too much in my opinion for the location. Got a taxi from centro there for 15R$. Closes around 3am, opens at 11am or so.

Lots of bars/restaurants inc Chinese at Estacada Docas. Basically it consists of some refurbed dock buildings alongside the key which flash bars etc. At 6pm everyday you'll here an air raid siren which is telling the market its time to close.

Ver do Peso is over rated by the LP. I actually walked past it many times without realising it. The LP says its dangerous and you need a police escort, what hogwash. I actually walked past the nearby port with lots of screamiong pigs all tied up until I got to a fort. Past here is another market, but pretty rundown.

Across the road from the holiday inn is the Bar do Parque, a few girls at nice, a bit rough and crazy though. Hippy types sell there junk on the pavement, a lot of homeless sleep nearby infront of the Loja da Americas. Take care at night.

Overall its a poor place, not much money floating about.

Hi RioNut:

Actually, I am in the process of buying a Brazil Air Pass for four cities: Sao Paulo to Manaus to Belem to Rio to Sao Paulo. I add Belem because not too many tourists go there. It may be rough, but there is a chance that I may have good time too! I am going to be there for only three nights and two days. I am trying to pick up a little Portuguese. I would say a little Portuguse will go a long way in a place like Belem!

Hello Cutting!

Is Lapinha closed forever?? That is too bad.

How was quality at Loco? How many girls? And were they nice 18 year old young ones, or old hard core ones?

Any other boates you find in this city?

And was the city dirty and ugly? The girls?

Thanks!

I need advice from any of you guys who was in Belem. I am going to be in Belem from Oct 9 to Oct 12 ( three nights). I don't have any specific activity in mind. Apart from mongering, what are other things I can do there? What is the best place or bar to go for mongering? I was checking the net for hotels. It looks like its fairly expensive for a place like Belem such as Regente in Downtown $68 per nite for a single room, Beira Rio $66, Hilton $100. Any suggestions which is the best hotel to stay? Of course, that has to include overnight guests.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Belem prostitutes I have found quite bad so far. They are very ugly and not too many, perhaps 15 in the park. To compare, I do not think many of the termas in Rio would let them work, for fear of scaring away customers. The city is very dangerous, and one day I was found in the middle of a shooting between police and a run-away car. Another tourist was choked behind the Hilton hotel and he told me that they stole everything, and he was led out by a "friend" he had met at a bar.

It is very hot and there is no beach, and the city is very much dirty with lots of sewage and a horrible smell from the river area.

I think that I will go to Natal now and try it out.

Belém:

A rainy city with some interesting places to explore.
Avoid Bar do Parque and the sleazy bars down at the port where you'll only find ugly girls.

Locomotive has some good-looking girls. The day for discounted prices at Locomotivo is monday. The boate is closed on mondays. But the small lanchonette next to the motel is open. All the girls from the boate hang out there watching novelas. 50 reais for the girl and 13 for the room. The motel is open. Good deal!

Bolero and Lapinha used to be OK. Ask any taxi-driver if they are open.

If you want to see a different place, go to Paupilha. You might need to ask several taxi-drivers before you'll find one who will take you there.

Paupilha is an open-air discotheque. Funk and forró. Extremely loud music, dark, ice-cold beer, shabby tables, some fights, heavily-armed police enter now and then, drunk and happy people and many sexy girls. My kind of place!

Lots of pro's. To avoid hitting on the wrong girl just head for one of the girls with the top written "Club das Safadinhas". Lots og cuties. Price is low, 15 reais, as the clients are mostly poor brazilians.

When you arrive there and get out of the taxi you might get a bit worried. The area is rough! You will get the attention of all the locals, many of them looking really bad. Don't be afraid, just stay cool! Take a beer and chat with the locals and show them that you are a good guy just looking for some fun. Then everybody are friendly. Don't go there dressed up and showing a lot of money. I enjoyed Paupilha very much. Definitely a fun place in my opinion. If it sounds interesting to you, try it out.

Hi.

Read some earlier reports.

"Ver do Peso is over rated by the LP."
" I actually walked past the nearby port with lots of screamiong pigs all tied up until I got to a fort. Past here is another market, but pretty rundown."
"Hippy types sell there junk on the pavement, a lot of homeless sleep nearby infront of the Loja da Americas. "

Really interesting, but isn't the purpose of this forum to facilitate the exchange of information between men who are looking for sex with women?

Hi guyz!

Went to Belem on Biz trip but did not have a chance to enjoy the local cuties.

Went for dinner to The DOCAS and I grant you there were enough working girls walking around and waiting to be picked up.

Was told to a local friend that most of the time You just need to ask a taxi driver and within 15minutes he shows up with a bunch of girls, You make yr. choice give im 50R$ and walk away with a beauty.

As I said I did not try so I cannot confirm but the more I travel in this beatiful country the more this kind of things seem possible.

Pls. post yr, reports and opinions

Sperto,

Tell more about paupilha. This is a piece of new information. Where is it? Can you be specific

It is a disco for regular and low non-pros and pros alike? where do you take the girls to? sleazy back rooms?

You must be courageus, speak good portuguese, etc to dare to go to such a place. Or is there a way to be safe there? Like come early before everyone gets drunk and fights??

I am too shy to ask my Belem girl friend to confirm these details :-)

brazil specialist,

about paupilha (not 100% sure about the spelling). you might need to ask several taxi-drivers before you find one who will take you there. it´s a 15 reais-ride from the center.

i went there on a monday night. arriving there i understood that the taxi-driver was right, the area was rough, favela-style.

when i got out of the taxi everybody was just staring at me. i headed for the nearest food-stand. a lousy hamburger, a couple of beers and small-talk with the locals. when they understood that i had the same interests as them, that is beer and bundas, they quickly relaxed and opened up.

after 23.30 people started to enter the dance-hall, paupilha. it´s a half-open place with 2 bars, lots of tables and a big dance-floor. everything very simple, extremely noisy but still charming. funk and forró.

at midnight the place was crowded.
it´s not the safest place to visit. lots of guys had to leave their fire-arms at the entrance. police entered a couple of times looking around.

everybody were drinking, dancing and having fun. the girls were not shy, one stopped dancing in front of me, squatted, lifted her skirt and peed in the middle of the dance floor.

lots of cute girls who were very curious about the gringo. even though a lot of the guests looked very tough i found everybody friendly.

there were also a bunch of pro´s. cute girls, all dressed in tiny shorts and t-shirts written "club das safadinhas".
they propably bring their customers to a
house on the outside. even very tempted i passed. now i regret it. i choose to leave the place without a lady.

if you enjoy mixing with poor brazilians, drink beer, flirt and dance in a rough environment that might give you an adrenalinerush, then you should try out paupilha. i think you´ll enjoy it if you have the same curiosity (or stupidity) as me.

how to be safe? of course, no valuables and dress simple. relax, smile, make friends and don´t be paranoid.
go there before 23.00 so you can get acustomed with the environment.

cheers

I think I went there when I was in Belem in '01. Lotsa Bamboo, etc? Kinda tropical? It was fuckin' rough, now that I think of it. I guess I just had gotten used to it by now (on the trip). I did kinda bee-line toward the entrance when the cabby dropped me off. Also, the way was so circuitous to get there -- through suburbs w/o electricity or paving -- that I thought I was gonna be kidnapped. Anyway, the night I was there was dead. Fat garotas who used the toilet.

Just got a report from a friend that at Docas there are lots of available semi pro girls

Any comments from the experts??

Here is the report >>>>>>>>>>>

Docas is a dock, it is the central entertainment district of the upper middle class in Belem. It is a 10 minute walk from the Hilton, which is across the street from the hooker park (Bar do Park).

We sat in a bar, and young girls walked by. My friend saw two from a distane that looked nice and invited them foir a drink. Within 5 minutes it was clear they were for rent.

I would guess tht about 50 girls walked by between 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm when we left. We left because my friend did not feel good about fucking the pretty girl and leaving me with the not so pretty girl. There are also girls in the street out side of the Docas area, and they are obviously for rent as well. None of the girls I have met at Docas are professionals.
They are part time hookers.

That being said, making a deal with a young girl and then having her flee after a few kisses and getting her shirt off was crazy. I am quite certain that she was haviing doubts about the wisdom of being a prositute, even if it was a part time job. I suspect that the next guy who picks her up will be luckier than I.

Thanks for the correction. I went to Locomotivo -- it's on the way to the airport. Good cheap sex. Not many cuties, but the finest girl I've gotten in Brasil (or at least top 5) was found there. She was like 40R and the room was 15R? Does that sound right? Waaaay cheap. It's really more of a huge beer hall with lotsa fat chicks walking around.

Wish I was there!

Sperto,

Judging from your discription it's the same place I was taken to by some girls that I'd met at Mercadão Das Jóias in the town centre 2 years ago. It's the place with (I think) 2 stage floors and live bands where they sell beer by the bucket and with the floor slippery wet with sweat, isnt it? I remember quite well that the toilets are on your left as you enter.

If this is the place you're talking about, I wouldn't recommend it to "Beginners" or those who don't speak Portuguese. I think it's quite a rough place and the girls I was with wouldn't let me move anywhere without following me (not even to the toilet!) for fear of me being robbed.

I must admit, however, that I did like the atmosphere and enjoyed myself very much, but then again I had three female "bodyguards".

I have latino looks and everyone in Brazil thinks I'm Brazilian, but I'm not quite sure whether I would feel at ease if I were alone.

Take care!

My cab driver in Belem told me about a place called China cafe. Sadly, I was on my way to the airport to catch a plane back home when we had this conversation. I almost elected to stay one more day in Belem just to try the place out, except for the fact that I had a date with a gorgeous girl in Rio that afternoon. Apparantly, its a cafe with girls that also arranges outcall.

Does have any information on the China Cafe?

I think that the "regular girl" scene in Belem is pretty rich with opportunity (see Brazil Specialist's note below; this description of Docas jives with my own recent experience in Belem) , but having a good place for higher class ladies than the Parque do Bar (hooker park across the street from the Hilton) would make this place nearly perfect.

El Culion,
Could be the same place.

About SW girls in Belém. The girls at Bar do Parque, at Praca da Republica, holds a very low standard. I can recommend you to check out the girls working at the northern corner of Praca da Republica. At the intersection of Rua Oswaldo Cruz and Av Assis de Vasconcelos.

There are a bunch of girls hanging out at the benches under the trees. Including several universitystudents. Some of them are knock-outs.

This is my first posting. I liked Belem' a lot, and the information here already is pretty good. Docas is fine and fun, (very up-scale, you might think that you were in San Francisco), as is Locomotiva. But Belem is a big, big city, and though I have been there before, it took me days to figure a route out of the city by rental car to be able to get down to BR10 and into the Amazon jungle proper. Eventually I made it all the way down to Moju, and stayed on a dirt road in a hotel called Dos ViaJantes, for four bucks a night. It was a fabulous time.

However, Belem itself, the city proper, is very dangerous. Just be smart, on your toes, and avoid any sign of trouble. Walk away, or run as the case may be, lol. There will be trash fires buring in the street and the stentch of raw sewage can be overpowering. But it is still a city not to be missed.

What is missing here at WSG for Belem is a listing of all the hotels down along Avendida Pres. Vargas. You are not restricted to only staying at the Hilton, though it should be mentioned that the Hilton does have a fine room for internet connection.

In the end, after two days, I left the rather nice Hotel Biera Rio, directly on the river but a bit in the center of a Favela, for the Zoghbi Park Hotel just off of Pres. Vargas. However, there is also Vindinhos, Hotel Central, (very inexpensive), and another one that the name of which escapes me at the moment. I think my point is there are maybe a dozen hotels along Pres. Vargas and a person doesn’t really have to worry about finding a hotel room if you fly into town without a reservation. All hotels are girl friendly.

Oh, for the heck of it, here is a live webcam site from the Docas:

Gauguin,

I am going to Belém in September. How would you compare the safety there compared to say São Paulo or Rio? In SP I stayed and worked for 8 months so if Belém is not more dangerous than that I will probably know how to stay out of trouble. Felt a bit unsafe going around Manaus in daytime as well, so perhaps Belém is similar.

I found Manaus to be a little more rough than Belem -- though actually less poor. A bit paradoxical, I know. Some of the interior clubs in Belem (away from the river) are in what're basically favelas (but most of the poor Brasilian cities are basically favela-ish anyway). You should be fine if you're smart.

It isn’t that Belem is that much more dangerous than Rio or Sao Paulo, but rather that it is in a different category, in a different world, if you will.

The central streets from mid-day on are thronged with bustling, milling crowds of people, many of them very, very poor, all jostling hither and thro, packed on the sidewalks, pushing and shoving and everyone bathing in their own personal bath of streaming sweat pouring down their bodies.

There is an intensity to the equatorial sun that I have not found elsewhere. Then, almost as a blessing or a benediction, there washes across the city a jungle rain with raindrops the size of your thumb and it provides a prayed for relief.

Later, it gets darker than Sao Paulo or Rio, there aren’t as many streetlights and the alleys are dark and foreboding indeed. There is a palatable sense of danger in Belem with the approaching night. Maybe it is a factor from the ever present danger from nature in Belem, not that nature in the Amazon basin is out to hurt you, but it is forced upon you to realize and understand that Nature is Big, that it is Real, that it is probably entirely indifferent to you and your self-consuming concerns.

I was staying initially in the Hotel Biera Rio and so had to drive the entire waterfront every day to get downtown. This was an experience. All of my feelings about Belem may be a factor of my own paranoia. I do travel alone and with several thousand dollars worth of cameras on my back. So maybe I have a reason to be extra careful, extra watchful.

Please understand that I really liked Belem, I liked the irony of the trash fires burning hotly in the streets in the middle of a boiling hot day. The smells of raw sewage mixed with the aromas of faijaos and beef and strong perfumes wafting off of cheap but pretty women.

Belem is an experience, and I would expect to be back there in December. If you have the time, do go out to the Hotel Biera Rio, walk out onto the pier and maybe like me you can rent a boat, and a big boat at that, for about $17 dollars a half day. Buy some beers for the crew and go see the real Amazon. What you can do in Belem is sometimes amazing.

But you specifically asked about danger. Sigh. When I arrived I met a Danish guy just returning who was badly robbed in Praca de Republica. When I was last there before then, a German was murdered in the alley, road, street, whatever you want to call it just behind Av Presidente Vargas. This trip I found myself by accident forced to drive down this alley at night, and I was so spooked, I almost ran over people in my hast to get out of there.

My Portuguese is horrendously terrible, and so I am sure that you will fare much better than I. But I caution again, while Belem is a must visit city, don’t ever get over confidant. Stay on your toes.
And just what do you do when you are assaulted by a holy man covered in filth and he tries to beat you with his staff and, unless restrained, you were going to stab him with a diving knife? Like Jake in Chinatown, none of it seems to matter in the cooking, fetid heat of Belem. A beggar all covered in sores latches onto your leg when your are trying to get money from the kiosk in front of the Hilton late at night and he is oozing and slobbering on you, clutching you and crying, what do you do? Forget it Jake, it’s just Belem.

But then there are the magical moments when you see a pretty young woman mid-day strolling down Presidente Vargas, completely naked, stopping here and there to look at this colorful item of clothing or that hanging from the outdoor booths that line that busy thoroughfare, and nobody took a second look. Just another completely naked woman shopping for value, looking for clothes.

It’s just Belem.

(I'd attach a photo or two, but this is only my second post, maybe in time I'll learn, but I should be off to Romania soon, that also should be different.)

Be Good Out There,

Was in Belem last week. It was a Monday night, and Docas was pretty empty. Locomotiva, the only boite in a "decent " neighborhood, is closed on Mondays.

Found myself a nice lady at Docas who had been working as a pro for three months. She did BBBJTC and straight sex for $100 BR (and I sensed she thought she had a pretty good deal). Later that night, I waled up and down Docas. There were clearly more than a handful of potentially available girls, but they were all with men twice their age. Went home at midnight, and ran into a girl who started chatting with me, at first mistaking me for someone else. A "regular" girl in the parlance of this board. Pretty enough at the age of 28, thin but with a real need for some toning work. We ended up going back to the Hilton and she spent the night. Her performance was both real and pretty good.

Incidentally, I tried going to th Northern corner of the park by the Hilton, as recommended. There were, during the course of the night, two girls looking for a "programa". They were decent looking enough, although for some reason, I did not care to take them up on their offers. At one point, a gorgeous girl came up to me while I was chatting with the two hookers: short miniskirt, doll face, tight body. She offered me her services, but since she looked young, I asked her age. It was 17, so I refused. She then called over a friend from the other side of the street whom she said was 18. The friend, who was tall with a bright red miniskirt, was obviously a he, and then I realized that the first "girl" was a 17 yo boy. Yes, Belem has its share of transvestites too! And they appear to hang out at the northern end of the park. As this is supposed to be a great place to find good looking students on the weekends, I wouldn't avoid the area, but do beware.

All my Brazilian friends tell me Belem has lots of great girls. The ones I have met have a good attitude, but its a lot harder for a stranger to figure out the scene than it would be in Rio or Sao Paulo. If you do not speak Portuguese, you will need to find a friend who does. I suspect that if you put in the effort, you will get lots of cheap and fun action.

went back to belem for a friday night, got a suite at the hilton for $200 br. it was a long negotiation, but the rooms are huge and the only ones in the hotel that don't have a musky odor.

first off, called my cab driver robson (pronounced hobson) for a lift to the china cafe. it seems that it has gone out of business (i think it never existed).

the taxi cab drivers (and the working girls) also know of lots of independents who can only be contacted one at a time by cell phone. you basically tell them what you are interested in and they will try and find the girl that matches your description. my man robson suggested that he go pick up a girl for me, and if i didn't like her, he would pick up another and another until i found one that i liked. the only cost to me would be his taxi meter, which i would not pay if i did not find anyone i wanted. i told him that if i didn't have any luck cruising the docas, i would call him later that evening.

took a stroll to the north portion of the park by the hilton. no action whatsoever. maybe i was too early, as it was just a little before 6 pm. there is a casa on the way down to docas from the hliton on the av pres vargas on the left side of the street. it looked a bit too dangerous for me, although it was still early and i suspect that i would have been ok. there were lots of girls sitting on the curb, but they literally looked like they belonged in the gutter in which they were sitting. word is that there are some really great looking ones inside, as well as **** girls, drugs, etc. probably best to explore this place with a friend, preferably one who is very large. keep in mind that going to a brazilian jail for ****philia or drug possession is probably tantamount to a death sentence for a gringo.

robson gave me a few phone numbers of girls whom i never saw, like amanda the hot morena , really thin with great breasts who loves sex. pm me if you want the number. robson was very impressed with her, although he has never had sex with her himself. robson's number is 8815 1944, and he is both honest and friendly. his english is nearly non existent, but he can communicate if you are patient.

picked up a dark skinned beauty at docas named rachel. she and a friend wanted to do a dupla (the friend was also quite pretty), but the hilton doesn't let girls in without ids, and the friend had some id issue. she was clearly over 18 (while rachel looked 17, but had an id to prove that she was a few months short of 19). rachel wanted $100br for a programa, and agreed to stay the night for free. it seems that $100br is standard in belem for a few hours, and that for another $50br, you can have a night. rachel stayed with me from 6 pm until i had to leave for the airport at 6 am. i gave her $200 in total. again, i am happy to provide her number to anyone who wants it. she speaks no english.

rachel seems to have worked the docas for the last couple of years, but was not hardened in any way whatsoever. she did seem to know all of the working girls there, so we strolled through the docas and she pointed them out. the key to figuring out who is working and who is a "regular girl" (many of whom are available, incidentally) is that the regular girls have food and drink at their tables. the working girls do not, and hence are often asked to leave the various restaurants and stroll. rachel offered to set me up with a variety of friends, including a lesbian couple, but time did not permit.

in summary, my friday night in belem was very informative. there are lots of beautiful girls available, but getting to them requires a bit of effort. there is no karlas or ciaplus here, but if you chat up the girls at docas, you are very likely to get free or nearly free action (i am nearly 50, and never was that pretty to begin with, so trust me, anyone can succeed here). a cab dirver or a working girl can be of great health. one final warning, at all costs, do not take home a girl from the bar do parque. not only do they look like they all have the virus, but the ones i talked with were truly hard core. the types that copme up to your room, try andlift our wallet and then still all of the little botels of black label from your minibar.

I would recomend you guys hire a taxi by the day.

Does not cost much more then a rental car and 100 times safer, especially if you get a taxi that always stays at a certain place, like in front of a hotel.

I would guess that R$ 150 per day plus gas might rent you a taxi (no, not in Rio or Sao Paulo, but in Belem or Fortaleza).

Normally that is 8-12 hours, but if you travel with the taxi and pay his food and lodging, you should be able to get a good deal.

Just ask a bunch of taxi drivers. Make sure you test him first, if the car has brakes and he does not drive like a maniac.

It took me days to figure a route out of the city by rental car to be able to get down to BR10 and into the Amazon jungle proper. Eventually I made it all the way down to Moju, and stayed on a dirt road in a hotel called Dos ViaJantes, for four bucks a night. It was a fabulous time.

Have now been in Belém for almost a month and it is quite a nice and calm city to stay in. Not much mongering to do here, though. SW's are ugly as hell and I only know of a few clubs, but never visited any of them. There are some ads in the 'Classificados' of the news-paper 'O Liberal' for anyone who wants to try that way of finding anyone. But there really is no need for it as non-pro's are available everywhere and are not as hard to get as in Rio or São Paulo. Have been with a beautiful 18 year old girl for almost all the month and had a great time and great sex.

Concerning the safety in the city I was a bit worried, but there is really nothing to be worried about. The city is way much safer than Rio and SP and in any case safer than Manaus. Can recommend the Hotel Equatorial in Braz de Aguiar for its nice rooms and pool, which is almost as good as the Hilton and a lot cheaper. About bringing in different girls to the rooms I don't know, but the motel's are in any case so cheap that there s no problem in finding a spot for the action.

Goettel,

Thanks for the report. I agree that non pros are easy to find in Belem. Semi pros as well, although I also think that some of the pros at Docas were incredibly striking, inexpensive and really gave great service. Its a completely different experience than Rio or Sao Paulo (still my favorite), but lots of fun if one is adventurous.

As for the Hilton- the first time I stayed there, they gave me the Presidential suite for $95 US. I complained about the price the next time, after learning that my friend got a suite for 200 BR- at that time about $65 US. They gave me the suite and the discount. In other words, they will bargain at the Hilton.

Since then, I always call them for reservations and insist on an executive suite for 200BR. The Hilton is really nicely located. Even if most of the girls in the park across the street are skanks, there are always one or two who are worth getting a BBBJ/CIM for 100 BR when you are really horny and MUST have someone quick!

Be aware that there are two places called "docas" in Belem. One is at the end of Presidente Vargas on the waterfront next to Ver O Peso, very upscale and modern. The other is called docas because it's along an old canal... the taxi drivers will help you get there. It's about five minutes from Av. Presidente Vargas.

Ver do Peso market: someone said it wasn't what the guide book led him to believe. True. The old Ver do Peso was a ramshackle warren of stalls, really bad shape. They refurbished the whole thing a few years ago and now it's a lot nicer... less picturesque, maybe.

Just got here, but I remember the Locomotivo as being one great place and plan to go there shortly.

Guys

It's been five years since I haven't been to Belem and think about coming back on a next Brasilian trip.

Docas was then the strip of regular cafes and bars along the av Suza Franco : does the action moved in the new "Docas" on the waterfront, any particular bar or disco that anyone could recommand ?

Is Locomotivo The Alternative to Lapinha, and anyone heard about a bar named Latina, in the little alleys behind the Hilton ?

Thanks in advance for any response.

Well this trip, I decided to make a stop in Belem (Jan 2005) and checkout the jungle pussy this side of the Amazon. This was my first time in Belem and had somewhat high expectations of finding some more GFEs, much like in Manaus.

Stayed (for 4 days) at the Grao Para (R$50 or R$70 for a double), which turned out to be a really great hotel only about 1 block away from the Hilton (1 block away going against the one-way traffic). And it was a GF hotel. Very clean, very quite, a great café de manha and 3-english movie channels, very nice accommodations. Not sure why anyone would pay R$4000-200/day at the Hilton? To get to this area in Centro, I took the bus from the airport to the hotel. Just take virtually any bus going to Av. Pres. Vargas/Pca. Republica. The bus stop is located just outside the airport front doors and to the left. Just ask or follow the locals at the airport.

Market Place and Docas (Docks) -
Both are located in the same area. It is about a 10 min walk from the Gao Para/Hilton hotels. I thought Belem (Centro, Docas, Campina) was fairly safe to walk around during the day and at night. Along the Docas are a bunch of outdoor/indoor restaurants and cafes. I did see some girls that looked GP (due to the fact they were giving me the eye) and thought I saw several gringo looking dudes sitting with a couple of GPs, but never really got up the nerve to investigate further, may due to the fact I thought docas was a bit too family oriented for my tastes and none of the GPs looked good enough to warrant an investigation.

On the other side of the more well-to-do restaurants/cafes (separated by a iron fence), is the market place. Here is where the poor class tend to party. The market place (24hrs) is hoping during the day, as it houses as sells everything from fruit and fish to furniture. At night the bars in the market place remain open and will go just about all night. It can be a fun area to hang out, have a drink, chit-chat-a-bit and check out the local scene.

Across the road from the market place you can find a number of bars/strip clubs (about 3 or 4 running along opposite the market place/docas). Some look like a holes in the wall, literally and the women are of very poor quality. I checked several days and those days found 2 women worth doing. The better looking girls will tend to go to a boite called “B” with a neon "B" hanging overhead. R$3 entrance and its a real dive. Some of the smells were worst than some I've experienced in the streets. What with the smell of body odor, body sweat and [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140), it was quite an aromatic bombardment of the senses. The strip shows are no great either! However, neither of these women would do BBBJ and soon found out, hardly any of the women did BBBJ (what the fuck?) Very wired. Found out they do have rooms next door or on the premises or take-out (to your hotel). Girls were asking R$30-50 for 1hour and sometimes less.

Up the road (back towards Av. Pres. Vargas, on the same side as the "B" boite) are several other drinking bars with gals and one other boite/bar. I checked them out and they are real hell holes. Basically low-end type establishments. Gals wanted R$20-30 one hour. Nothing really worth considering, but it makes for interesting entertainment.

Locomotive –
All I can say is that the place itself is done well, good layout and design and the service was good. The girls however I didn’t find that interesting, just OK. They wanted R$150-250 (with R$20 bar fine and/or just fuck on the premises with the hotel next door). All-in- all just boring for me! Not the type of place I enjoy, because management has their hands in you pockets, in everything you do with the GPs. Once I’ve paid the house to enter (and drinks) I’d rather not pay any more (to the house) than I need to. To me the house is like the government, always wanting more once they get that taste of free money (for doing nothing) and then introduce all kinds of services charges and taxes on top of bill. Anyway I thought it was a decent enough (and cheap enough place) to hang out with the boys for a while. Shows are not anything great, but worth watching! Entrance R$4 and food and drinks are reasonable. About a $15-20 taxi ride from Centro.

Lapino –
Located in the barro called Condo (1 or 2 blocks from Pompilho), was closed on a Monday when I also went to check it out. I don’t think it was closed for good, but couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone. As reported here at WSG, Lapino is fairly similar to Locomotive.

Forro Clubs –
1.Checked out Aporotoa (on a Thursday night) and it was OK, R$7 entrance. Located near Locomotive (about 6 blocks). Girl were not great, and the crowd seem to be the brat-pack of Belem.
2. Sala de Rebeco, R$8 (Friday, did not go in, didn’t think the gals entering were very stunning or good looking).
3. Pompilho, R$7 (Condo [Barro, neighborhood], Mondays is best and OK on Fridays) was hopping and lots of sexy girls, that I thought was more approachable than other Forro clubs in Belem. Although report in WSG that the girls are very “safarda” (sp?) or at least can be recognized by the “safarda” t-shirts, this was not the case when I was there. Maybe they have discontinued this practice or I was at the wrong club. Either way it was a shame, as I was look forward to some “safarda” sex.
4. Cazuzas (Sunday), did not get a chance to check this out, but I guess it start like at 1:30pm in the day and goes till about midnight? Wow, Sunday punta at 1:30pm would have been nice.

Note it is best to ask around, as to which club is the open or the best to go, as it varies each day, Much like the Forro clubs in Manaus.

Taxi -
Very easy to barter with the taxi drivers in Belem. I think most do not get very many fares for the day and were generally receptive to bartering. I got away with R$10 to R$15 to drive me to some far away Forro/Pegody dances, that were sometimes ½ hour or more away.

Bar do Parque –
This outdoor bar, is located directly across the road from the Hilton. It is nothing special and neither are the GPs that congregate there. For me it was somewhat of a last-stop resort at the end of the night. To add injury to insult, the GPs were asking $150 for 1-2 hours. A couple of times I sat down and had a drink and a chat with the girls, if only to pump them for information/prices. None were worth the asking, so I did not take any.

Any luck with the girls? -
Well no not really! Belem for me wasn’t that great in the girl department. Of all the cities in Brazil, I thought Belem has probably the least prettiest garotas. Not to say that there weren’t beautiful women in Belem, just that there is a shortage of beautiful women. LOL!

I did not try or like (depending on the R$ they were asking) a single girl, from any of the places I visited. It was one of the roughest 4 days in Brazil on this tour.

Well at least on my last night in Belem, a nice soft and cute 18yrs old brunette (by the name Jeanth) saved the day. (I would rate her about a 6 in looks and a 7 with a good friendly attitude). What’s funny is that I met this gal, simply walking down the street (across from Docas) and just said “Ola! Tudo bem?” the rest way easy. We talked a bit, watched movies and had pizza together in my hotel. It was a great way to wind-down after a few days of frustration. I enjoyed several hours of kissing, groping and dick teasing (she doesn’t like BBBJ). Well it was not entirely perfect, for when it came to for me to fuck, she give me the "I'm shy" routine. She had a very nice pussy, but also a very tight pussy, as I did eventually manage to stroke it for several quick minutes (bareback), before she decided it was too dangerous to continue (since I was out of rubbers and just to tired/lazy to get more that night). No money was ever spoken off (just the way I like it) and in the morning I gave her R$50, which she was more than happy to receive.

The next day at 10:30 am, Varig give me the wrong flight schedule and the plane left 1.5 hour earlier. It was Varig’s fault, so they put me up in a Hotel and give me a voucher for breakfast until the next flight at 5:30pm (most airlines would just tell you to “fuck-off and wait”).

Is there a GOD or what? And He is smiling on me? As it turns out the girl from the night before came to see me leave at the airport. So we checked into the hotel and then went to the mall to do some shopping (pickup up a pack of rubbers) and then back to the hotel for some shagging. The sex was OK and I gave her another R$50. Definitely a nice way to end Belem, which was otherwise turning out to be a big disappointment on this tour!

Rap Up -
Not sure what to make of the gals here in Belem. On the one hand, it hard to find girls who give BBBJs. But on the other hand it would seem the young (18yrs old) girls can be had quite inexpensively. And yet there is definitely a shortage of beautiful women in this city.

As my friend would say, “…maybe it just got hit with the ugly stick”…well maybe? If there is one good thing I can say about the city, is that is cleaner then a lot of other cities in Brazil, not too mention one of the best valued R$50 (or lower) hotels, I have ever stayed in.

Yeah! I would give Belem a second try, but wouldn't go out of my way to go back. Hopefully it gets better, as I enjoyed my stay, however it doesn’t justify the long way to go for mongering and chasing pussy.

Hey MS,

That's true, not everything does always goes your way! However wishful thinking goes a long way...as I thought the girls would be very similiar in looks, attitude and fuckablity as my experiences have been in Manaus.

But really...for the most part, its just the adventurer-mongerer in me. I like to check most things out for myself and formulate my own opinions from my experiences, good or bad.

Spidy,

in my opinion you did just the right thing picking up a girl just on the street. I have seen about two decent boites in Belém during my months there, but never used their services during nighttime. This is just because the nicest looking girls in Belém aren't pro's and it makes more sense picking up in normal clubs and discos. This is what I did and going about this way I had no problem getting BBBJ as well.

About the hotel I became interested; has the Hotel Excelsior Grão Pará got a pool or not? I stayed in the Equatorial the last time and was happy with that as it is at least cheaper than the Hilton, but the hotel where you stayed seems better.

Goettel, I don't think the Grão Pará had a pool, however I could be misktaken. But for sure the Grão Pará is a great hotel to say at. Very clean, very accommodating, very GF (w/double room) and great cable TV (CNN, Sony, TBS, HBO, HBO2, Cinemax...etc)

Spidey's report was great. Everything you need to know about Belem.

I wouldn't give Locomotivo such low marks, though. I have found some great girls there and you can usually negociate a price down below 100 reals.

Also the local beer Cerpa is great.

I was in Belem last month, and I liked a lot this destination. So bad I was there only a few days.

The only p4p spot I checked out was the Locomotivo. 2r$ park, 4r$ entrance, 3r$ refrigerante. Many beautiful girls there.
I had a session with Tatiane, a loira mulata. She asked 80r$ for 1h, 100r$ 3h, negociable.
It was a good session with her, in the Locomotivo Motel.

So many gorgeous girls around, expecialy in the new and old docas area. So easy to know freelancers and semi-pro.

Hope to come back there asap.

YMMV, as usual.

I have a chance to spend a couple of days in Belem after visiting Fortaleza, which is nearby. Is Belem worth visiting for just a couple of days? The monger scene should of course be part of the equation, but just a portion of it, maybe 25%. Please also include other factors, such as beaches, tourist sites, non-pro niteclubs and discos, cafes, people, natural beauty of the environment, atmosphere, hotels, prices, culture, etc. Overall, is Belem worth visiting for just two or three days if you factor in everything? I know this is a mongering forum, not a travel forum, but I will have done my mongering by spending a week or two in nearby Fortaleza before going to Belem. Also, please remember that those two days in Belem could have been spent staying another two days in Fortaleza.

...Well, this is a though one to answer. As far as physical beauty (of the city, at least) probably not. The action, too, isn't all that great. It's got that famous market (Ver o Veso), and a low-ball charm -- but it's basically an industrially over-built, poor town.

Check out my long post (a few years old by now) for a good review of the P4P.

Sorry I can't be more specific,
JW

P.S. I'm glad I went, but I'm on a mission to see just about every city I can.

Varig crews

Met a Varig stewardess (paulista, a solid 8) who was on a 24 hours stop on her way to Manaus at the Hilton Belem a few years ago .

We met in the morning at the swimming pool, talked and joked for a few hours, went up in my room at 2pm and after a nice flirt f***ed till 6pm ; at 7pm she leaved the hotel for the Belem/Manaus flight.

All hotels where Varig crews usually stay (Tropical chain of course, but also Hiltons, ect) can be good hunting grounds.

belem is a surprising modern city of 1.6 million people with high tower buildings right the middle of the amazon rain forest, far from the rest of the civilized world. its economy is based on its strategic position at the entrance of the amazon river. there are few touristic interests here (the old city and the rain forest), as there is no beach: belem is at 200km from the atlantic ocean.

how to get there

belem is at 3000km from rio, road transport is difficult. there is boat transport along the amazon river, but the main passenger transport with the rest of the world is by air through belem’s international airport. most flights are national flights. varig, tam and a few other brazilian companies have daily flights between belem and most of the main brazilian cities. there are no direct flights to and from europe or northern america. there are however a few flights to the northern neighbouring countries: tam has a flight to caracas, air caraibes to cayenne and surinam airways to paramaribo. these flights may be considered to go to belem, as they are much closer hubs to northern america or europe than rio or sao paolo.

where to stay

hilton hotel in belem is the main hotel where all the “gringos” stay. it is conveniently located in the center of belem. prices are around 150$/night. there are plenty of cheaper hotels around, but i suppose that those who come that far to belem are either on business or rich tourists.

how to get around

i would not recommend renting a car for a first trip. there are enough taxi’s in town and they have the useful information about the p4p scene. just take care they put on the meter.

security and health

regarding crime, belem has a relaxing atmosphere and i never felt unsecured. however, any brazilian will warn you that by night you should not walk in the streets and always take a taxi. keep all your valuable at hotel (passport, credit card…), and take only with you the money you will need that night. police will not try to bribe you, and will not ask for your passport. belem has modern hospitals, and medical facilities are excellent as long as you can afford them. and by the way, viagra is available without medical prescription in any pharmacy!

money

don’t change money at airport, rates are bad. just use the convenient atm everywhere, there are even just at the entrance of the hilton hotel. the rate changes a lot but is now 220 real for 100$ or 260 real for 100€.

language

most brazilian don’t speak other language than portuguese. english is hardly spoken. however, if you are fluent in spanish, just take some quick brazilian portuguese lessons before. brazilians are very patient, with the few portuguese words you will have learned together with spanish, it’s enough for the basic mongering conversation. we are not here to try to have conversation with a nobel price winner right?

the girls

i have to say i was disappointed from the overall look of the girls when walking around in belem. brazilian are a mixture of white, black and indian. as everyone knows, the results can be impressive, but it is not the same in every part of this country that is the fifth biggest of the world. as we are in the middle of the amazon, the overwhelming influence is indian. girls are mostly small, tend to be fat and have not beautiful faces. no, definitely not the typical sao paolo top-model or copacabana beach babe! but we are not here to screw up the 800 000 females of belem, just the few gems. in locomotivo i fucked a 9 rated 22 years old girl. she had a eastern european look: tall, blonde, white skin, blue eyes, a very nice face and a wonderful body. it’s funny, as on the contrary when i’m in a german fkk full of eastern european girls i tend to go with the few available latinas! another thing is that there is no straight border between pro semi-pro and amateur action. even when you don’t expect it (=read out of the p4p scene), you will make the most interesting encounters. i had each day at least one marriage proposal!

semi-pro and amateur scene

virtually everywhere of course but there are a few specific places. the well known bar do parque is right in front of the hilton. it’s a popular open air bar. most girls here try to hook up with the customers from the hilton. it may be convenient as it is easy to take her back to your nearby room, but don’t expect to find any beautiful girl here. anyway, all my evenings started here. the girls are easy to talk with and will give you all the necessary information about belem by night in order to go further.

another nice spot are the docks. they are nicely renovated and have good restaurants for tourists. if you sit outside, you will spot some semi-pros walking along the waterfront trying to hook up tourist single males.

then you have all the disco’s. don’t go to the high end disco’s like casablanca, but to the more local popular disco’s like african. it’s on the boulevard marechal hermes that goes along the docks. entry is 8r$, there is nice life music, and the girls tend to be very beautiful here. however, you will need some portuguese skills as well as some basic brazilian dancing skills to make it more easy.

the brothels

the place to go is locomotivo, on the road to the airport. any taxi driver know where it is, it will cost 15 r$ from the center. it’s a huge brown complex with motel, disco and bar/restaurant. to enter the disco, you will have to pay 4r$ at the bar. it is open from 1pm till 5am. it’s a huge double floor space with chairs and tables. on stage there are striptease shows. at the back there is a bar area. food is available. the disco is not air conditioned, but you can get some fresh air at a veranda on the first floor. there are about 60-80 girls, 20-30 years old but i would rate them 4-7 at most. however there are a few 8 and even 9 gems. they are not easy to spot as the place tends to be too dark. girls will ask 150r$ for one hour, but you may get it for 100r$. you can bring them to the motel of the complex. there are different rates of rooms starting from 11r$ up to 25r$. as a gringo, only the 25r$ will be available, but they are very good and clean. they are air-conditioned, have a nice round bed, music, tv with porn, refrigerator with drinks, bathroom and even a jacuzzi. this place can be used as a motel (with a private car park attached to the room), and the room for the night will cost the double. girls will take the time, shower before and after. service is very good. when they feel confident, dfk and bbbj is available. one girl poored some soft drink on my dick before bbbj, it was funny!

there used to be another popular place, o lapina. it was closed when i tried to go, and all taxi drivers confirmed it was closed for good.

another place to go is veronica. i didn’t try this place, as it is 25km from the center. but it is reported to be as nice as locomotivo.

i tried another brothel that is hardly known by the taxi drivers. it’s barroco. when you follow the docks, you will find the popular market ver o peso that is also along the amazon river. in front of the market, on the other side of the boulevard is barroco. it is hard to spot by daytime, but by night there is a b lighting up. this is a hell hole, the typical low end hardcore place. you will be checked at the entrance for any weapons. entrance is 4r$. inside it’s very dark and hot. the smells are horrible, a mixture of beer, [CodeWord109] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord109), sweat and food. no gringos, only low end brazilians. there is a strip show. it was very hot, the girl’s body was completely wet. she opened her legs in front of the audience. one of the customer dared to perform her daty. she didn’t care, and she even came on his table, her legs open to make it more convenient for him to daty. the prices here for a fuck are as low as 50r$. it’s worth only to experience once in a life such low end place! the place didn’t make me feel horny at all, but i was on wsg reporter duty. i finally spotted a nice girl among all those dogs. i started conversation and she appeared to be very nice. don’t know what she was doing in such a place. decided to make a try. the room was horrible (price 11r$), but had ac and bathroom. i was afraid of hygiene, so asked her to go together to the shower. we washed each other, and i took great care of washing her pussy, not only for hygienic reasons. in fact, even in such an environment, it’s possible to find a real gem. she had a perfect 20 years old firm body. the service was excellent, even if i dared not to daty, dfk and bbbj. we showered again together after. if this is your type of scene, there are a few other brothels like this in belem, just start with this one, once inside you will get the information to get to the others.

street action

there is street action by night on the streets around the parque as well as on the main boulevards. but take care, all those i have spotted were ts/tv!

personal opinion

belem is not worth the efforts to get there for mongering purpose only. there are plenty of other places easier to go to and with better mongering opportunities. still, i have to admit i had an excellent personal experience, and not only in the p4p scene. one encounter may change everything. during my stay, i met a female business partner. she was not only very pretty, but she was classy, highly educated and had multilingual skills. there was such a good mutual chemistry, that i felt i was overwhelmed by a strange feeling: yes i was falling in love! it was my last night in belem, she offered me to be my guide and i was supposed to call her. i knew i was crossing the red line, as she had even my business card. i decided to follow the basic mongering rules i made for the safety of my family: i didn’t call, and went straight to the brothels to fuck her out of my brain. i saw her the next morning before to take my plane: she had not her usual smile and she just gave me a professional cold good morning. i could see in her eyes how deeply i had hurt her feelings. i felt bad for it. this was my last memory of belem.

Barroco is news to me. Sounds like my cup of tea. Do you remember names of other similar low end brothels?

I had nothing to write down the names of the other brothels the girl gave to me in Barroco, and I can't remember. She named at least three other brothels. When I asked about Locomotivo, she told me that Locomotivo was too expensive (!!!), and that it was better to go to the other brothels that have similar rates than Barroco. I understood that the other brothels were not in the center unlike Barroco, that's why I didn't try to investigate further.

No taxi driver knew about Barroco, neither the girls at Bar Do Parque or Locomotivo, so I guess they don't know also about the other brothels. The best way to get the information is to ask the girls in Barroco for similar brothels. The girl in Barroco that gave me the information about the other brothels was named Andrea.

Routard,

Thank you for your comprehensive report about Belem!

It is not easy to get there especially if you are flying from the Caribbean. So elaborate please a little bit about that TAM flight between Belem and Caracas.

I've heard Brazilian women are crazy about anal sex. It is almost a culture. Does anyone know if this is true and so yes, how come?

I am far from an expert on Brazilian women in general. Maybe I did P4P with 10 girls, and I had some sort of regular Brazilian GF here at my place for 3 years. So I can only refer to this limited experience:

My GF was into everything: she did increadible blowjobs, I never had to ask for this, she was the one who would beg for it ("let me play a bit!"). And she gave me the most extreme deepthroats I had in my whole life. So you are not surprised she loved it in her bunda.

Let's say with 4 out of the 10 I had anal sex. One just accepted it, it was her first time and she didn't enjoy much... One offered her bunda to me, but wanted an extra 100 R$, so I declined. One didn't want it anally, but it was her idea first to fuck ME with her finger - brothers: I am definetly not gay, but this is a pleasureful experience!
One girl I had for free was very shy. There was no chance to have anal sex with her, she didn't even do a blowjob. But she let me fuck her buceta in every way I wanted. I was with her for only 4 nights, maybe she would have opened up more if there had been more time?

I simply can't speak about Brazilian women in general. For sure not all of them are crazy about anal sex. I don't think you will get a very high rate of girls willing to do it in the ass. And I think it depends on where you meet the girls. You can get books in a supermarket and in a bookstore. If you are looking for something special, you might rather find it in the bookstore. So probably Rio terma girls are the more specialized providers compared to a hooker in a bar somewhere in the interior... Just my guess.

On the other hand there maybe some obsession in Brazilian society about the bunda as a part of the body shape.

* Altas Horas: A daytime club/bar with GPs on Travessa 7 de Setembro (No. 324 ?), 10 meters from Praça da Bandeira (5 minutes walk from Ver-o-peso). No sign on the outside, but it´s written "DVD" on the entrance.
Open=10 AM-21 PM
Entrance=free
Beer=R$ 4 (your Cerpa is served by Mickey Rourke´s twin brother)
Girl=R$ 30-45
Room=R$ 10
Room standard= simple, fan, new sheets, shower.
Girls=40 girls working. 7 doable, 2 really cute ones.
Special award goes to Telma who gave one of the best BBBJTCWS I ever had.
Atmosphere=Bring night goggles, it´s quite dark. Two big screens playing Calypso-DVDs. No strip. A nice relaxed atmosphere.

* Boulevard: A couple of months ago Barroco closed, got a new owner and changed name to Boulevard. The sign is still the same, a "B" lightning up. If you have difficulties finding it, go to the market Ver-o-peso. Look for Hotel Ver-o-peso, go 50 mts further and you´ll find it. Look for a "Nova Schin"-sign.
Open=3 PM-2 AM
Entrance=R$ 2
Beer=R$ 3,5
Show=Stripshow every now and then.
Girl=R$ 30-45
Room=R$ 10
Room standard= simple, AC, new sheets, shower.
Girls=15-35 girls working, depending on the day. Maybe 2-3 doable if yoú had enough Cerpas. The ugliest girls from Altas Horas goes on to Boulevard in the evening.
Atmosphere=A bit depressing compared to Altas horas. According to the girls the club lost most of its customer after the club changed owner.

* Locomotivo: Needs no more presentation.

* Bar do Parque: This small outside bar in front of Hilton is the same as always. About 20 girls hanging around. All, without exception, are plain ugly, fat or old.

* Estação das Docas: Some overpriced free-lancers walking by.

* SW: Lots of them around Praça da Republica and the backstreets. Very low standard. The only good-looking SWs I met close to Praça da República were the girls working down at Avenida Assis de Vasconcelos, R$ 30.

* Non-pro´s: The gringo-attraction is high in Belém.

Not much happening in this section...
Just a small update since last year.

GP CASAS:
There are three main GP bars in Centro, see below. There are also a couple of real trashy places I don´t even bother to mention. The girls frequenting these three places are often the same girls moving around. The number of girls working on each place might be everything from 10-40 girls depending on the time. The standard is low, but at least 2-3 doable girls should be found at each place.

* Paraiso:
Opened very recently.
Rua Senador Manoel Barato, 105
Open 12-20
Entrance=free
Beer=R$ 4
Girl=R$ 30-40
Room=R$ 10
Atmosphere=One big screen playing DVDs. No strip. A laidback atmosphere.

* Altas Horas:
Travessa 7 de Setembro, 324
Open 11-21
Entrance=free
Beer=R$ 4 (your Cerpa is still served by Mickey Rourke´s twin brother, remarkable resemblance)
Girl=R$ 30-40
Room=R$ 10
Atmosphere=Two big screens playing Calypso-DVDs. No strip. A nice relaxed atmosphere.

* Boulevard/Barroco:
Look for Hotel Ver-o-peso, go 50 mts further and you´ll find it. Look for a "Nova Schin"-sign.
Open=3 PM-2 AM
Entrance=R$ 3
Beer=R$ 3
Show=Stripshow every now and then.
Girl=R$ 30-40
Room=R$ 10
Atmosphere=Depends on the crowd, can be a bit depressing.

* There also the other options mentioned earlier, Locomotive (terma), Bar do Parque (dogfaced old GPs) and SW at Praça da República (R$ 40) and SW at Estação das Docas (overpriced).

REGULAR GIRLS:

Belém is not really a place that you go to for mongering. The only reason I can see for going there is the regular girls. Lots of beauties.

* Sao Domingos: This is the place to go to if you happen to enjoy old, mature, fat-bellied women. Entrance=R$ 7. I didn´t enter though.

* Beirada: This is a fun place IMO. The place consist of a small alley with 13 bars, each one playing it´s own music on maximum volume. In the back there is an dancing-area. All the bars have cute girls working in short dresses. The crowd turns up at 11 PM. The locals drink impressing amounts of beer.

The atmosphere is quite wild and loud but very entertaining. Like that bar in the Star Wars movie.

The crowd is a mixture of very rough locals and very cute local women. I got warned by half a dozen of people that there were lots of malandros, bandidos and ladrões around. There propably where, but the majority seemed very friendly and happy to offer beer and chat with the gringo. Be careful if you flirt with the local girls, check out first if she´s has her boyfriend around. When you leave the alley, don´t hang around, jump into a taxi directly.

Very amusing when the PMs walk into the alley heavily armed and the bars at the same time starts playing "Rap das Armas", from Tropa de Elite. Even the PMs were smiling.

HOTELS:
Just a small sidenote on the budget hotels in Centro:
* Hotel Novo Avenida: Av Presidente Vargas 404, single R$ 58,5, double R$ 70.
* Hotel Unidos: Rua Ó de Almeida 545, single R$ 58,5, double R$ 69,3.
* Hotel Ferrador: R Aristides Lobo 485, single R$ 63, double R$ 80.
* Locador Hotel: Rua Ó de Almeida 476, single R$ 65, double R$ 85.

All four hotels have about the same standard on the rooms. Simple but clean, AC, frigobar, TV with cable, hot shower and breakfast. The only hotel that allows you to bring up girls without charging for a double room is Hotel Novo Avenida (although they charge double if she spends the whole night).

sure you can stay at the hilton, or hotel sagres, or you can find cheapo rundown hotels, but here are a couple moderate hotels.

i stayed at belem softhotel in nazare' basic, good-sized rooms and beds, but only a sheet to cover yourself, frigibar, wifi in lobby. ok neighborhood, a couple good restaurants nearby. cafe de manha incl. $80r low season, 90 high season.

also stayed at formule 1 (f1) brand new hotel here, near the rodovaria (bus station) tiny, tiny! rooms, my room is sooooo small, i have to step outside just to change my mind! lol! wifi in the rooms for 12 reals a day, cafe de manha 6 reals. no frigibar, and no phones in this ultra-modern hotel! wtf? $69r

looks like all the "love motels" (called "pousadas" here") are on the highway towards ananinduea. a huge club i liked for music was called pororoca, in ananinduea. ive heard there are quite a few gps hanging in that area.

if you got the balls, renting a car is the way to go. they drive insane here, blowing through redlights at full speed. youll save alot of money cuz the city is really spread out. but to be safe, get a taxi.

sorry no gp reports, got a girlfriend here thats fucks me like a pornstar.
i did get a quick peek at locomotiva, nice place, going price is $100r it seems, basic shag room with porn on tv, shower, toilet and bidet, 15 reals an hour. place is pretty dead until 10pm, but you can imagine the girls are "fresher" and more willing to cut you a deal early in the day. but open at noon or 1pm according to spertos reports.

Greetings from Belém. I thought I’d post and bring everything up to date.

I’ve been to Belém a few times before and I like it a lot. I have a theory that the closer you get to the equator, the hotter the girls get, and Belém has the added plus of having the Amazon gene pool. You walk around the city and there are beautiful girls everywhere.

Quick orientation. Avenida Pres. Vargas runs from the Estaçao dos Docas up to the Praça da Republica. This is basically the heart of downtown. There are many hotels on Av. Vargas and the side streets just off it. I have stayed at Itaoca and Ferrador. There’s the Hilton for more comfort.

The Estaçao dos Docas is on the river. It used to be warehouses, they rebuilt them into restaurants and bars, kind of like Porto Madero in Buenos Aires. Next to that is Ver-o-Peso market, with a million little bars and food stalls. The rich hang at the Docas, the rest of the world at Ver-o-Peso. Needless to say, Ver-o-Peso is a lot more fun.

Beware! Belém is dangerous at night. DO NOT hang around Ver-o-Peso or that general area after dark. Be careful around Praça da Republica after midnight. Take a taxi where ever you go at night and you’ll be ok.

Mangal das Garças is a nice nature reserve by the river. Birds and butterflies, a tower to get an aerial view of Belém. Something to do in the day time.

Thanks to everyone for the previous posts; I got to check out places I didn’t know existed. Sperto’s reports are great. I have just a couple of additions.

Downtown Dives

Paraiso / Altas Horas. These places are still here. They are right around the corner from each other. 600 ml beer: 4 reais, why drink anywhere else. Pretty much the same deal in each, dark, not the most beautiful girls in the world, but laid back, don’t worry about going alone. Only major difference, they play the worst videos at Altas Horas, but great ones at Paraiso. And yes, Mickey Rourke’s twin is still bartending at AH. I don’t know if there places are open at night and I’m not going to find out.

Bar do Parque. This little place is at the Praça da Republica next to the Teatro de Paz. I would like to echo someone else’s post: do not take a girl from Bar do Parque. It’s an amusing place to have a beer in the evening, but you would be totally crazy to go there looking for a girl.

*****houses

Locomotiva. To me, the best little *****house on the Amazon. Actually, it’s big, many girls to choose from, you can go nuts trying to decide which one to take. Motel is next door. 20 for the room, 120 for the girl if you bargain.

Taxi from downtown is 18 reais. There’s music, the girls do their thing on stage. There’s a bar area, a big area with tables, an upstairs, and even some tables outside on the roof. Very comfortable place. 600ml beer is 8 reais. The place picks up steam round midnight. As with most places in Brazil or Argentina, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the best nights.

One of the best *****houses in Brazil, IMHO.

Casa de Verônica. It’s at the corner of Tamoios and Vila de Breves, somewhat near the Mangal das Garças reserve (not 25 kilometers from the center as someone else reported). All the taxi drivers know it. 10, 12 reais from downtown. I went here in the day so I can’t really give a full report. But the place was comfortable, the six girls that were there were definitely doable and one I went for without hesitation. A little bit pricey. 50 reais for the room and overpriced drinks. The girl went for 120. At night I would imagine it would be well worth a look although if you only were in town one night, definitely head for Locomotiva.

Creutzer’s A taxi driver told me about this place. It’s a ways from downtown on Av. Perimetral. They have a website, www.creutzers.com. Nothing special, just a big house with a few girls hanging out. The guy who showed me around said 150 for the girl but when I balked at that the price went down to 100. 30 for the room, I think. As an alternative to Locomotiva, I’d go for Verónica’s.

O Lapinha. I went to this place years ago. I read a post that said it was closed for good. Well, It just reopened this week. I was told it was going to be the same thing as before, shows, dancing. I don’t know, except to say that they also featured a boxing match for the grand reopening. It was a great place years ago, very popular. Not strictly for working girls and mongers.

Free Lancers

Estaçao dos Docas. There are always a few girls walking around at night. They sit on the benchs and will say Hello, as you walk by. Some sit at the tables at the restaurants. You’ll figure it out. Some of them want 150 but I had a real cute one the other night for 70. You never can tell.

Summary: Reading the posts on Belém I see some péople like the place, some don’t. YMMV, as they say, and there’s no accounting for people’s taste. I know Fortaleza pretty well and I guess if you like a zoo filled with Euro sex tourists and dumb beach girls, you’re not going to like Belém. If you want a more laid back, civilized place to monger, Belém is for you. Very few tourists, and the ones that are here are mostly doing the Amazon river/rain forest thing.

One other thing. Belém, being near the mouth of the Amazon, near the Guianas, near the Caribbean, has a really different culture. There’s food that you find no where else in Brazil; well, in the world for that matter. You can also hear some truly amazing music that seems to be a combination of every style imaginable. Also the old city is good for sightseeing, the cathedral is magnificent.

Great news indeed. Those who have been at O Lapinha in its heyday know that it was simply one of the coolest place on the planet.

Thanks for this excellent and inspiring report which gives a great overview of Belem.

I discovered that Casa da Verônica used to be 25 kilometers out of town so the original reports about the place were correct. It is the same establishment, only now relocated to the city.

The exact address is Rua dos Tamoios, 561, on the corner of Breves.

Phone is 3224 1148 and 8115 1164.

Greetings from Belém. I thought I’d post and bring everything up to date
RB, Thanks for the post. You bring back memories. I have not been to Belem since the early 90's. First place I ever took the plunge into the "monger pool". I remember being taken out to place that resembled the estate in the 007 Movie "Octopussy". It was like a palace behind a 15 foot wall with guards packing machine guns. What a trip.
I stayed at the Hilton Hotel and got picked up damn near every night in the terrace bar. The night Fernando Collor was impeached, the girls came streaming into the hotel to escape the mayhem on the streets. They just wandered the halls looking for guests. I remember getting a knock on the door at 2:00 AM from a girl wanting to know if I wanted her to come in and screw. And 15 minutes later I got another knock on the door from her friend wanting to know if she could come in too. Next day, the three of us walked down to the river and had lunch at restaurant that served turtle.
Those were wild days......

Rockin Bob,
great report, thanks! But I like to understand better if those prices for fucking are for short time or overnight. If they are for ST I think Belem is enough expensive. I am doing my maintenance for 15 days: bar, hotel, fucking, gifts, massage, etc. etc. mmmm May be Macapa is less expensive?
I like very much hot sex with amazon girls and I'd like to reach small towns in the rainforest like Santarem, etc. Do you have experience about small amazon towns?
thanks

7th September and Rua Manoel Barata are either not marked on a lot of maps or hard to find. On this map (small in order to comply with ISG rules), I’ve highlighted them. Below the pictures of Ver-O-Peso and Igreja da Se is an upturned blue cross. The line pointing at Ver-O-Peso is 7th September and the line pointing at the igreja is Rua Manoel Barata. The two dots show the location of Altas Horas and Paraiso.

For quick reference, Presidente Vargas starts near the number 4 (Itaoca Belem Hotel) just below Estacao das Docas. The Belem Soft Hotel is No.2 (on Braz de Aguiar). The airport is off to the right of the map, roughly level with Theatro da Paz. The rodoviaria is at the end of a continuation (Magalhaes Barata) of Ave Nazare. Beirada is off the lower left of the map.

Both 7th September and Rua Manoel Barata are narrow streets and a taxi may have problems getting to them (or along 7th September) through traffic. The small free map at the airport is fairly useless, but for some strange reason lists Praca Bandeira as a tourist attraction, and 7th September runs off it (it’s the green rectangle at the bottom of 7th September on this map). A taxi will be able to reach Praca Bandeira via Travessa Padre Eutiquio, which runs parallel to 7th September and alongside the Praca from Belem Shopping Iguatemi to Ver-O-Peso. It’s an easy walk from Shopping Iguatemi.

This map is a section of one called Belem Tourist (free at some hotels inc Belem Soft). Or use the map pages in Yellow Pages directory in your hotel.

(these reports are based just on one week’s stay in Belem in March, so based on my experience in that time only)

From Praca Bandeira (see map and street info (http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=866328&postcount=68)) and the diner at the corner of 7th September, carry on a few yards and it’s a black entrance in the wall on the left. No obvious sign although the notice saying entrance is forbidden to those under 18 is a give-away for this sort of joint. For Paraiso, keep going till you hit a junction very shortly afterwards and turn left. Paraiso is a little way along (Rua Manoel Barata), on the right hand side, and a bit easier to spot. 7th September doesn’t go all the way to the waterfront street Av. Castilhos Franca – you have to do a quick right and left along the narrow market streets, then turn right along Castilhos Franca till you come to another “over-18’s” entrance. (Altas Horas to Paraiso seems safe enough much of the time – I felt less safe going from Paraiso to Boulevard down the very dark streets, even if I was following a blonde that looked hot.)

The last reports on these places go back some time. Paraiso seems to have upped its game slightly whereas Altas Horas is proudly maintaining its lowlife status, while still seeming less like hell’s kitchen than Boulevard. Altas Horas and Paraiso are places to live in during the day, propping up the bar and having a girl every so often. Paraiso gets going in the early evening whereas Altas Horas shuts. Boulevard, the only one to charge entry, will take your money even if it’s empty, so go in the evening. All three places are quite dark inside so you have to take time to scope out the girls. Sometimes they go outside for a ciggie, so worth having a look at them out in daylight if the chance arises.

To check current prices, one way is to ask various customers once you’re inside and having a drink. Another is to haggle. Most girls (in all three bars) vary from ugly to average. Some - not that many - that are very do-able (stunners might be too strong a term).

Altas Horas
I never paid more than 40R. The girls started at 50R so even this was excessive. One girl asked me for a 2R tip for her bus (Paraiso girls ask for a taxi tip). I don’t normally tip though, especially if asked. Nevertheless, there are girls who work here then go to Paraiso and charge a higher price, then go to Boulevard and come down again. The Altas Horas rooms are upstairs - tacky and overpriced at 10R. A large beer is 4R. The daytime videos were awful on occasion but better at other times. Soft porn often on one of the large video screens. Music DVDs on the main one. The most ‘normal’ of the three bars – sort of place to pop in for an afternoon fuck in between getting your shopping and an acai ice-cream . . .

Paraiso
The price seems to be 50R (locals also paying this and indicated it was the going rate). Girls would start at 90R but walk off if I went below 50. I used 10R rooms although there might be cheaper ones. The rooms were excellent at the price – clean, ensuite, towels, nice bed set. Some daytime vids were awful but the evening ones were consistently good, especially due to a good (female – probably also available) DJ. Mix of Forro, Calypso, Western Rock Music and a bit of Brasilian Rap thrown in. Best time seemed to be about 7.30pm when Altas Horas was shutting. Still going strong after 10pm (taxis outside in the evening). Claimed to be open till midnight. Large beer 4R, but batata frites overpriced at 8R. Central bar area with counters on each of two sides. Pay for your room at the small counter at the end. Rooms on ground level at far end. Lots of maladros to talk to and pretend to be friendly with (this is not Rio – I agree with former posters, be careful). First girl I took there was one that had spotted me from Locomotiva the night before. Occasional strip show. One stripper did a heavy grind on any and all audience members that were willing (quite pleasant, especially if you didn't look at her face etc). Some girls pretended to approve and others obviously didn’t like the distraction.

Boulevard
First time I went in on an evening, a guy several beers for the worst was enthusiastically eating out the ass of a rather ugly fat stripper (yes, her ass, not her c*nt). She was stronger than he was and hauled him on stage afterwards. He freaked when she tried to get his jeans off. This is quite a stinky, nasty place, like a forgotten backroom in hell. 3R entry fee for guys and you go through a rusty turnstile into a long narrow room, perhaps almost the size of Altas Horas and Paraiso put together. Long bar areas. Stripper stage half way along. Rooms (upstairs) at 10R are surprisingly clean. Fan, new red brick walls. Rooms not as nice as Paraiso but better than Altas Horas. The bustle of people in the evening and a few beers helps to hide the smell and the sense that it is a breeding ground for humungous dockside roaches and mozzies. Although the staff shirts (yes, staff shirts!) say Boulevard, the girls still call it Barroco. TV screens in the bar show hard porn. Prices same as Altas Horas.

Not exactly a bargain although it can be strangely addictive.

Av. P.A.Cabral 4765
Tel 3233-26-68

The price is 100R (one hour) although they ask more. I found this out from a girl I’d met there who I sessioned with in Paraiso the next day for 50R. She said don’t pay anyone more than 100R in Locomotiva. I tried the next night with the best looking girl there. She asked for 150R and I just looked at her as she was joking and told her the price was 100R. She laughed and asked if she could maybe have a tip. I think a tip is maybe better – it’s appreciated and leaves you in control.

Locomotiva is a large-ish complex that’s about 20R each way in a taxi. Yes, there’s buses, but not late at night (and many girls seem to travel there from outside Belem). Inside there’s table/waitress service for food and drinks, DJ, strip shows on a good stage, an upstairs balcony (like RJ’s ’Help’ and an outside verandah. All this, together with a set of ground floor love-motel rooms, is on the left hand side of the courtyard entrance where the taxi drops you. The outside balcony is a nice warm-up for GFE (massage her shoulders while staring at the moon lol).

On the right hand side of the courtyard is a reception and boite. This is where you pay your entrance and also book a room. Your entrance is a card that drinks and food are charged against. If you are awkward like me you can of course just pay cash as go along. And if you really want to cut the cr*p you can just go in, not buy anything, meet with the girl you fancy and go to a room. If you want a drink but don’t do alcohol, the coco juice at 2R is good value.

The rooms vary – if you don’t specify the price (easy enough – there’s a printed menu) it seems the girls will just order for you. They are quite luxuriously fitted and worth 20R (or a bit more, or a bit less). Near the end of your hour, they phone the room and ask the girl what you’ve used from the mini-bar. Your total bill is put through a cubby-hole in the wall where you also put the money (and, if they are slow with the change, kick up a fuss).

Some of the uglier girls are a bit pushy unless you are firm. You can barfine a girl (I think it was 10 or 20R) if you want to take her home.

The late-night cafe across the road sells wholesome Brasilian food (eg, meat, rice, salad, for 4R) if you don’t want the late-night (slightly overpriced but not outrageous) food in Locomotiva.

This is not really my type of place. I explained this to Rebeca – a Locomotiva girl I saw at Paraiso – it’s not just the money, it’s the pre-fabricated gestures and attitude the girls take. She understood what I meant and did her flouncy ‘Locomotiva’ impression for me in Paraiso, which was hilarious. But Locomotiva is also strangely addictive. I saw three girls in total from there and their performance was consistently good. It’s open till 4am.

A girl from Locomotiva that I took back to my hotel - Melina, from Mosquero - gave me probably the best and most skilful anal I've had ever. I felt each of her muscles tighten on my cock in an awesome fashion as she stuffed my hands anywhere she could and frigged herself off with me up her backside.

Locomotiva shuts on Sunday. Some of the girls work the nearby bars. I was told Creutzers is open on Sundays till midnight but didn't check this out.

Since Belem is not the best value for PDP you are probably here for something else. If it’s music or non-PDP you may want to check out {i]Casa de Show[/i] which is in the same area as Locomotiva. It’s a very big (several times the size of Locomotiva) place where some of the top Brasilian bands play if performing in Belem. Just ask the taxi for Casa de Show a Pororoca. It’s the place for a big night out on Thu, Fri or Saturday. Doors open 11pm, show starts midnight. There were three bands on when I went (finishes about 5am). Big dance floor as well as seated area. The national dance of Para is Calypso, but you can get away with forro on some of the numbers. More women than men when I went and it took me a while to realise but quite ugly men were getting good looking women on the basis of a decent dance or two, max. While that happens generally in Brasil, it was emphasised here. Volume levels quite ear-splitting.

Bereida

Only stopped in here all too briefly but will head for it in future.

Accurately described in a previous post. I got a taxi from Docas, and was treated to a lecture on how it was too dirty, too dangerous, too nasty and horrible, for anyone to want to go there. I said I agree and take me anyway.

It's actually a lot cleaner than much of Ver-O-Peso, but surrounded by no-man's land for more than a short walk. On the Guama River side of town. A series of bars with disarmingly cute local girls and burly local guys. A refreshingly different slice of life.

Independents advertise in the Classified section of the local newspaper (Olibero) of course.

PDP
As previous posters have correctly pointed out, Belem is not a bargain for PDP. On top of which you have a hefty airfare to get there. If I fell in love with the place almost before I got there* it is for other things – yes really – of which there is much to admire. Music and cuisine to knock your socks off. Total lack of gringo culture. Closest you get to foreigners hanging out is a few Korean businessmen in Locomotiva. No English spoken anywhere. Plenty of beautiful women, just not in the prostitution trade. The PDP is quite limited – mostly not very good looking women and charging more than you would pay in a major Brasilian city. But I found a reasonable spread of types – including blonde brancas. Overall, the PDP is adequate rather than good. Belem does not suffer from the terrible prostitution problem that afflicts such getaways as Petropolis or Terasopolis: these towns have a situation similar to the one described by a famous English wit in his second letter of complaint to the constabulary of a Scottish resort. The problem there being, quite simply, that there isn't any. Belem has enough to provide relief if you are there for other 'more important' reasons. If not, stay away!

flights
One direct one a day from RJ. Several at the same price but with connections of varying length. Cheapest was GOL no-frills, 475R + tax if booked a few days in advance, which works out at around 1000R round trip. Price same whether you book online or thru a travel agent tho I went thru several travel agents who gave me three widely different ‘cheapest flight’ prices. Print out the online deal and ask them for it and go elsewhere if they don’t come through. They get a discount and hence commission from the various airlines. About three and half hours travel time. Ignored long queue for taxis at arrivals and picked one up straight away at departures. 28R into town at night.

hotels
Tried Hotel Novo Avenida first (on Pres. Vargas 404). Two tiers of rooms. Cheapest single 55R. Looked at three rooms in total and even the 85R (‘luxury’??) double room was grubby and depressing. Well overpriced. Poorly maintained (eg shower door hard to open). Mini bar in an old fridge that has seen better days. Grubby toilet roll. Mirror you could hardly see in. Threadbare towels. I don’t mind seedy, but not at non-seedy prices. This place feels like it should have been gutted and re-built many years ago. Or rented out as a slum lot.

Taxi up the road to Hotel Belem Soft (Av. Braz de Aguilar www.belemsofthotel.com.br) where, for only an extra 5R (90R a night, double room, inc b’fast) were rooms up to budget Western standards (near the standard of say, an Ibis hotel). Bright and clean, spacious, good bed, nice towels, cable TV with late night free soft porn, professional staff, very upmarket part of town with good restaurants and boutiques, wi-fi in reception lounge area. Proper plumbed hot water instead of that combination of insulating tape and temperamental glued-on water heater that passes for a shower. Cute receptionist too. No bother taking women back although it did blow my chances with her. Further to walk to the dives than Vargas hotels but worth it IMO. There are buses downtown if you don’t want to walk. Some noise from construction work but they readily gave me a new room that was quiet. Get to know the area – I found some taxi drivers not averse to going a long way round until told off lol.

Other hotels can be had very cheaply if you just want somewhere to shag a very dirty woman. Estacao on the waterfront asked for 25R for a double room and I’m sure he would have gone down.

safety
Belem is hardly a place to hang out if you don’t know Brasil a little bit and have enough street smarts to stay out of trouble. The dark alleyways in Ver-O-Peso beg have a lot of anonymous places to get up to no good. And when big strapping guys in seedy bars want to be my friend after ten minutes and invite me to their home I find I have other things in my diary that day. I have no personal experience of trouble there, but everyone gave me the same story, from Belem to Rio – Belem gangsters will not worry about hurting you or getting caught.

And just in case you thought this was another Belo Horizonte where you can hang out with the down and dirty, BH is much better for PDP and most places are better for weather. It rained every day I was there and I soon shelled out 5R for an umbrella. But there are many places to explore from Belem (again, for Brasil stuff, not including PDP).

* and I am sure I will fall quickly out of love with it as soon as there are transcontinental flights; or the jesus-god-snake-oil becomes even more oppressive than it is now.

Didn't go there but the printed card I got from a taxi driver gives Rua Santana do Aura, 6a Travessa, Casa F3 and the phone numbers as 9173-9726 and 8115 1164. I've a feeling there may be more than one branch? Santana do Aura is a lot further out than Tamoios/Breves. I also got wildly different quotes from people when asking about the price there. Some people said they'd hiked it to 200R - someone else said just talk them down to 80R.

at the risk of being slightly off topic, casa de show (see last para here (http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=866357&postcount=70)) is one of the best places to see calypso danced both professionally (the bands use calypso dancers as their backing stage act) and socially (on the dancefloor). not all calypso music is as cheesy as banda calypso (which i also like) but seeing it danced gives a context that makes the music exciting.

the varieties of musical experience in belem are pretty awesome imho and you may want to pick up as many samples as you dare not to be confirep001ed later at customs. i could find very little legit music available in the stores. mostly you have to buy bootleg copies from the numerous street sellers in ver-o-peso. the going price for a cd is 2r and a dvd 3r. if they ask you for more, just gently inform them that the price is such-and-such, or for cds just hand them a 2r note by way of genial correction. you may want to check that you have the right cd/dvd to match the badly photocopied sleeve before you leave the stall as mistakes sometimes occur (some of the better sellers do this for you anyway unasked).

the music dvds in altas horas and particularly paraiso are a good way to find the names of acts that you like - or you could ask a garota who likes the same music and take her shopping with you.

But there are many places to explore from Belem (again, for Brasil stuff, not including PDP).
I personally enjoyed a lot Mosqueiro, which is for Belenenses what Litoral Norte is for Paulistas. A great combination of natural beauty and party scene, and a cool place to kick back a few days. During dry season (June-Oct), and especially during July vacations, it fills up every weekends with all sort of meninas, from favelada to middle/upper class. Great for tail-chasing.

Anyhow thanks for the informative, elaborate and accurate reports. Belem is definitely the most captivating city in Brasil.

Too bad you didn't visit O Lapinha BTW. I would have loved to hear about the rebirth of this place which was 10/15 years ago simply one of the greatest drinking holes on earth.

Here's a slightly better map (you can clearly see the streets of interest marked) but I've had to cut it into four to conform with ISG uploading rules. You can print it and tape it together if needs be. (A standard instruction on how to get round this for maps would be useful - reducing photos to 640x480 doesn't affect how they look but it mostly makes street names illegible when I've done it for maps larger than a few blocks.)

7th September, Praca Bandeira and the Altas Horas / Paraiso area is in the lower left section.

With apologies to lonely planet . . .

Hilton is right in front of Bar do Parque, on Praça da Republica, and at walking distance to Iguatemi Mall, a good place to chase non-pros and possible "semi-pros".

Location is unbeatable. Not cheap though.

Hello!
I was in Belem a few weeks ago, and I must say that the women here are among the most beautiful I have seen in Brazil.
I can very much recommend hotel Grao Para (www.hotelgraopara.com.br) 70reis/night
The location is perfect at Praça da Republica just 200meter from Hilton .

I visited the well known “fuckbar” Atlas Horas 3-4 hours every day!
Atlas Horas is just 10minutes walk from Praça da Republica

Atlas Horas is perfect for day mongers like me, it opens already 10 AM (Sunday closed)

I fucked 10 different girls ,totally 21 times in seven days! The price for the Chica is 50 Reis and 10 for the room. The rooms are upstairs and not so good.

If you want you can just pick up the Chica here and take her to a ST-hotel if you don’t like the rooms at Altas Horas.

I asked a Chica one day if she could do DPP (double pussy penetration)
Yes I can she said, and asked another man in the bar if he wanted to join us ? Of course he said !

You can see the pictures in the photo section.

There were streetwalkers (bad looking) in street , 1 de Marco (see picture 2366) for directions, its just one block from Praça da Republica

I found a new place not mentioned before in the forum in Rua Tomazia Perdigao (see picture 2367) for directions
It’s a Bar/Club similar to Altas Horas and others in Belem.

I would know about nice (and cheap) places where to stay and other places where is possible to find freebies.

Any suggestions?

Is the hotel Grao Parà girl friendly?

Thanks to every body.

Hello gentlemen,

Back from Belem. Hilton costs 400 R$ per night for an executive room ( bargain by phone). Excellent location, and not as tatty as I was expecting. Nice view from the room, too. Swimming pool rather average. Not that an Hilton, anyway quite better than the Grand Para, which one didn't change for the best since last time I went in. Oh, there is an Ibis opening w/promotional rate at 99 R$, but don't know where it is.

Went to Locomotiva (25 R$ from Hilton/Republica on the way to the airport). I want to make it clear for the next ones to come:
- Locomotiva is a kind of a complex, made of 1 pick-up bar, one boate, one hairdr'esser, one motel.
- the pick-up bar is on your right hand when you enter. Open from 6pm I guess. Small, 3meters long bar, a dozen of chairs, a dozen of girls. May be depressive. Most people here are the ones who don't know the 'boate' itself opens only at 10pm. Th girls wait for the opening as well
- the boate (in front of the small bar) stands as a place of shows. Entry rate: 10 R$ from 10pm on (it's free before but none here). No show is to be expected before midnight. Basic strip tease afterwards. Menu (regular food) and beverages not too overpriced. 40 girls were attending about midnight (was a Thursday).
- the Motel - doesn't need to explain too much. Executive suite for 20 R$, grand suite for about 40.
The girls: I've been disapointed, probably it was not a good day. Too old & too greasy for 90% of them. I met however (in the bar, at 9:00) with a young mix of indian and crioula I think. Very slim and a good stripper. Long nipples. I'm so sorry I forgot her name. Not completa, but keen to please and to make me come twice. Staid 1,5 hour, gave her 100 R$ for her good will.

Music lovers should give a try to the Casa do Gilson by week ends: rodas de samba e choros, little restaurant, friendly place. Shitty facade in a vague suburb, but safe when indoor. All taxis know.

All the best,
GB

not much change on last year or my reports then really. if you are staying near republica (as i am as my first two hotels of choice were full when i arrived), the hilton offers a cybercafe in its business centre which is open to non-residents. it´s hours are quite good (open till 10.30pm) but it is 6r an hour. whereas the smaller places, eg in aristides lobo just off vargas, a few yards from republica, charges only 2r. the kit is not quite so modern, the a/c is less aggressive, but the connection seems just as good. free wi-fi is advertised at estacao das docas, though i haven´t tried it. with hotels, i prefer belem soft for the few extra bucks over grau para or ferrador and the vargas cheapies, but although it is in a congenial upmarket area (good part of nazare) and has attractive and very helpful receptionists, it is slightly less convenient for everything else than those in the hilton/grau para/ferrador/block.

locomotiva - as mentioned before, the rate for the girl is 100r. i only discivered this when a girl from there i got friendly with downtown told me there was never any need to pay more than this. i noticed the other night that prices of rooms, the vast array, are listed at the back of the restaurant / drinks menu. i tried both the basic aircon room at r16 - nice - and the room with just a fan at 10r. i think there might be the tiniest improvement in decor in the pricier rooms from memory but not much. even the r10 room has frigibar, basic ensuite, fresh towels, and all extras at menu costs from condoms (though i prefer my own brasilian ones of choice) to sex toys. and the fan, which was more than adequate, makes less noise than the aircon. shows were first rate. quality of service depends on you and the girl. girls´ looks can be pot luck on the night, but there were plenty on saturday night - eg very tidy little branca 19yr old - id checked - who was also one of the best dancers. another branca i fancied - i only managed two that night, both with two pops and enjoyable pool and balcony moonlight chat in between - showed up at one of the blocos i went to yesterday. drinks - i either go for coconut juice (r2) or the (rather basic) caipirinha (r11). taxis there are a bit more than last year (just over r20 by meter rate weekend nights) but taxis here are always negotiable if you do it right. i am more concerned about finding one with ok tires and who doesn´t see red lights as little more than a high speed challenge. (taxis from the airport again, slightly higher - i was too lazy to walk the few yards to the bus stop.)

locomotiva, like the altas horas -type places, is shut on sundays (even boulevard was shut, although it it opens most hours up to 4am.) i am sure there are plenty of options but i was more interested in joining in the blocos.

one agency listed in the papers is eleeavip.com.br

as has been said before, don´t come to belem if your main interest is p4p - you can get it easier elsewhere without paying the airfare here. if you like living among brasilians and enjoying the culture without lots of tourists whose only interest is sex tourism, it´s great. as you will know, it also rains a lot.

I am just back from Belem. It is true that P4P is not the reason to go there. It is a very interesting city, but I must say that the Locomotiva is as good as any place I have been in Brasil. Was there 3 times in January. Each time was better than the last. The other places in Belem were truly aweful though.

I took one from the praca de republica to a hotel around the corner. Garota rs$100, hotel, RS$40. It was a real dissapointment. She was a bit drunk, no enthusiam. The girls at the Praca are older (and uglier) than at Locomotiva. Bad attitudes. They are also allowed to drink by the pool in the Hilton.

It is definitely worth the taxi fare to go to locomotiva.

rofl never thought of the hilton pool lol! am typing from there now.

did the early evening run. ahoras shut of course (and i am not keen on their rooms), paraiso about to shut. main road round to boulevard (seems worth the extra 2 mins to avoid those unlit streets). one doable but she looks lazy. the rooms here are much nicer than the bar, if not as nice as paraiso. surely they could afford a bottle of bleach once a year?? try docas. approached by two ok looking girls except they are well fed without looking fat and i think why bother when i can have a nice young skinny blonde branca at locomotiva. third one to give me the eye (at least these girls are making an effort) is more okay. chat to her for fifteen to twenty. she drops from 100 to r80 too quickly and i reckon i may have pitched too high. don´t want to take her to my hotel for various reasons. she suggests a motel (r25) ´near here´ - which to me means walking distance so am not chuffed when she suggests a taxi (tho at least i get a good look at her on the way to taxi rank. and if it is a 10r taxi that is walking distance. she complains too many ladros, but the area she suggests is not one i really want to walk to. eventually she agrees to an onibus but a bit late and i am losing interest a bit, say i´ll meet her one afternoon and maybe take her to my hotel. walk back up republica - why can´t they get some decent street lights?

just to pút things in proportion, front page news headline today in both papers is student street protests over bus fares rising to r1.85. an extremely graphic pic and story of a bloodied youth shot dead in the street is only page two or three. don´t think it was the same gun thing that rep001tered peeps momentarirly (but quite dramatically) during the saturday fiesta on praca republica. the hilton is soooo decadent! btw have sussed out the dance lesson options i asked about last year.

I´ll be doing short stop travelling soon so prob won´t post much. Here´s one or two additional bits of info and things on Belem in case they help.

Locomotiva
- yes, I have to agree in the main with Propertyman, it´s usually a very enjoyable night out at very reasonable cost - except for the taxi fare out there. I´ve found most taxi drivers will accept 20R if I just offer it upfront.

I had a wonderful time with some very special ladies there most of this week - Saturday, Monday (just the whiskeria and motel on Monday), and Tuesday. Really beautiful people. They went out of their way to make my time a lot of fun and often went well over the hour at no extra charge (Locomotiva sometimes charge extra pro-rata on the room if they are busy though). I don´t think it´s that there´s any especial quality control though. Either I´ve been lucky or picked well. I think most of the girls there probably give a very good service. The ones I have met have appreciated time on the balcony, time spent laughing and joking. Everyone accepted 100R happily and with good will. The only exception was last night. The atmosphere wasn´t quite so good as Tues or Sat. First girl I took gave a disgusted look when I said I was paying 100R not 200R but accepted anyway. A good looking girl, blonde, busty. In the room however she was determined to insist on setting the pace - ie getting me ´off´ as quickly as possible. (Needless to say, she also acted like the 10R room was beneath her). Was it just me? I don´t think so. I went to the room with her at 2.10am. At 2.30am I told her I had no intention of coming quickly so she could go early, paid her and left. Found another girl who was pretty cute, very sensuous and sexy kisses etc on the balcony. But in the room she asked for money upfront. I told her no, I´d pay afterwards the way I always did and she starting remonstrating. I walked out. She came after me, insisting she was sorry and would I go back to the room, but the mood was lost. I didn´t want to ´make the best of it´ - and was also slightly curious to see how reception handled it. I paid the 10R for the room and they asked me to wait. After checking the room and speaking to the girl, they actually refunded my 10R, which was pretty good. But the clincher was that girl A, the blonde, came out of another room with another customer at about the same time. This was about 3.10pm. So she had not given her second customer a full hour either (One hour is the minimum booking afaiaa).

Other small bits of info, not sure if this has been covered - the entrada for girls is 5R. I´ve been asked in the whiskeria if I want to pay someone in, and politely ´explained´ how they could just go to the cashier themselves and pay lol. There is also a cabine upstairs (to the right if you are facing the stage). I hired this once for a private dance at a cost of 50R, which I thought was bl**dy expensive. But there again you get a damn good pole dance with lots of full touching. Snooker is 1R a game.

SWs
It has slightly annoyed me that all the SWs I see around Vargas are mostly ugly or unwashed as hell. Then I jump a taxi to Locomotiva and frequently pass what look like absolute stunners. I checked with my taxi driver (one that doesn´t have the bible open at specific pages on the dash) and he said the area was safe enough, and to pay them around 50R. We´re talking a few blocks down from Vargas in the direction of Locomotiva (if you´re going the quickest way, near the docks, not via Nazare).

Hotels
I´ve been staying at Ferrador which is probably as good as any in the area, which are much of a muchness. It´s 75R a night which quickly comes down to 70R including a solid breakfast (If you get up early rather than late it´s much better with many freshly cooked goodies). Cost for guests if you take them to breakfast is 10R. It´s on Aristides Lobo, a few yards of Vargas - you can see the sign from the main road. Icamiaba Hotel on the next street down looks almost identical - soulless concrete block but ok if nothing inspiring.

Other places
Veronica´s is shut several nights a week. Maybe worth trying on the way to Baraida as it´s in the general direction.

a reminder on haggling*
Knowing the correct price for something and sticking to it will generally earn you respect. You can always treat her a bit in other ways later if you want to - let her help herself to a chocomilk from the Locomotiva frigibar for instance, or pay for the snooker next time you see her, or book her again. Paying more (ie the asking price), in my experience at least, just reinforces the fact that it is a purely commercial transaction - money for sex. BUT Please don´t follow a similar approach when arranging a date with a quality escort in the UK. Doing so is the height of bad manners and will not endear you to her. Respect local etiquette. Please guys!

Other Belem
The city is not the scruffy commercial district of Ver-o-peso, Paraiso and the markets off Vargas. Neither is it all outer suburbs like those where Locomotiva is located. I think most gringos going to Belem are long enough in the tooth to do their own exploring. If not, or if you are here for just a very short while, try walking from Republica along Nazare and the streets off to the right (Bras Aguilar etc) with the nice designer shops and restaurants (without the hype of Docas - although my fave meal this trip was maybe a very good straight X-Tudo in the market at 2R). Catch a bus back from Nazare area - anything pointing back the way and with Vargas on the front - change of 2R - and it will probably go down Visc.Souza Franco in Umarizal before getting to Docas and turning up Vargas. If you get off at the big shopping centre (Boulevard Shopping) you have something approaching Rio Sul when they´ve finished it, even if it´s not quite there yet. Check the local papers for live music events or ask people. Dance lessons are much cheaper than in Rio, if not maybe to the very high standard there, they are still pretty good. Touristy stuff: Jardim Botanico is not that good really - more for kids - and a hassle to get to (but you can pick up the aircon Mosqueiro bus back for about 3R). Mangal das Garcas - lost the ´ugly block of concrete´competition to Rio´s Corcovado, but still you can go up in a lift and se all of Belem and see there is not much to see dadadada. Well looked after, nice red whatsit birds flapping about, butterfly farm, and an upmarket restaurant that had a long wait for a table when I went on a weekday afternoon. My choice for a date might probably be the Museu Emilio Goeldi on Maghalaes Barata 376 which has a zoo included even though the museum part is shut just now for restoration.

Enjoy.

*When girls ask for 150 or 200 I am reminded of the Amy Winehouse comment at a live concert, the audience make a noise after she announces the next song will be her last song. ´C´mon guys, have you never been to a live concert before?? I have to say that. . . . then I go off and you make some more noise and I come back on and do another couple of numbers, that´s how it goes fro goodness sake. The girls have to ask 150 or 200. It´s part of the game.

Checked out the area from vargas to visconde souza franca (where there are traditional brainless late night bars clubs and so on) and it is safe enough if you are careful. But many of the girls are what the locals call garota banana lol (cute expression I thought) so beware! On non-monger stuff, meant to add the day out I recommend is Amazonia Bioparque - a real hassle to get to but worth it.

Of course it's a dump. Paraiso is only a slightly better class of dump. Like VM, both contain gems. For straight forward non-dump, please get yourself to Locomotiva without delay!

I never thought that I'd ran into a place that I don't like in Brasil, but now that has happened. I've been here 3 weeks and this place simply sucks. All that one can do is done in 2 or 3 nights and then that's it. Hardly any decent restaurants and ones I found are italian, which I'm not too fond of.
People are simply SLOW in all meanings of the word. Streets full of crap and all kinds of dwellers. I'm not afraid anywhere, but here one needs really stay alert. Bums EVERYWHERE.
Women are unattractive, but easy.
General knowledge amongst locals is nonexistent. They know a shit. Very boring people.
Honestly if one can avoid this shithole, please do.

I'm so pleased that some don't like it - more for me! Perhaps I am biassed. I not only love the unique culture, the music, the dancing of Belem, I love the people, the lack of external (including trans-Brasilian) influences, and I have a preference for staying in the more upmarket, designer-store areas where the streets are most definitely not full of shit, and a damn site cleaner than Copa in RJ. (In other areas, the shit can indeed be so high and the stench so bad that even walking becomes difficult.)

Far too far to go for mongering alone, and although there's plenty to do you have to be picky as they are not very marketing-aware and tend not to differentiate between worthwhile attractions and rather pathetically invented ones. I have found the P4P supply more than adequate - some very beautiful girls in fact, though the bottom end can be as rough or rougher (in different senses of the word) than Rio's Mimosa. And yes, there are plenty of areas that would be dangerous to the unwary.

The people ignorant and slow? Ignorant about things outside of Para and Amazonia, yes.* But very knowledgeable about stuff inside Belem, which can otherwise remain quite mystery to the outsider. They've shown me amazing kindness. A shop assistant who walked many blocks with me to make sure I found the dance school I was looking for. A villager who attended to my wound when I (stupidly) fell off a tree. People who helped me when I got lost. People who, without making me feel small, saved my embarrassment when it came to showing me ways of eating or dancing that they took for granted. And that's even before I think of the garotas who impressed me with their generosity.

I do agree about the food though. It can be hard work finding top notch grub. Even the Hilton is no better than mid-range with added pomp. It takes quite a while, I think, to compile a list of good quality places. All the more harder until one's palate accustoms to local delicacies - some of which are pretty off-putting at first glance. It'd probably be quite true to say Belem is much harder generally than most places in Brasil (though I'd guess nothing compared to the outback forest areas of the NW, but I haven't been there).

I'll try not to laugh at Mr P being there for 3weeks and being miserable - honestly, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

*just as most people from Rio and SP - and maybe with rather less excuse - seem to me incredibly ignorant of Belem

Not to mention that it rains every day. :)

Regarding restaurants. Try the restaurants in Estação das Docas. A cheaper option is Ver-o-peso, with several dozens of lanchonettes. Those places looks very simple but you can get all kinds of delicious fresh fish.

I share Christopherd feeling about Belém. However I can understand that visitors that only explore centro can find it depressing at night-time.

ROFL. Well since two people have asked . . .

I had taken an excursion out to the forest. I was on my own with a guide. He shimmied up a tree to pick some exotic looking fruit which he then invited me to try. But I was thinking (duh) what a good photo opportunity(!), especially as the tree was overhanging the river, and gave him my camera while I . . .

After a very rapid descent from a tree with very slippery bark, I landed in the water. Rapidly groping onto the bank (there weren't any crocs but we'd been teasing some a few minutes previously so I wasn't taking chances). I had only minimal first aid with me and a long gash along my arm.

The photographer in me insisted we still took the photo. I sat on the curved base of the slippy tree, keeping my bloody arm out of sight.

It wasn't a long excursion but I enjoyed discovering an unknown environment and how easy it would be to get out of one's depth. I think that's something I like about Belem too. It can be more of a challenge than the homogeneity of the more interconnected towns of Brasil. I used some of my water to wash the wound and a bit later we found someone who was able to clean it a bit more thoroughly. The fruit tasted ok too.

And you all were maybe thinking I was high on drugs trying to escape from Altas Horas uglies! :D

First of all I do not have that much time for "fun" since I'm working here. For anyone who travels for his work this place is really terrible because there is no way to cook your own food and as we already agreed the restaurants simply are terrible. Imagine that you have to eat in the same crappy restaurants 2 times a day for almost a month (yeah I don't even know when can I just fuck off from here).
I have been everywhere, Estacao das docas can be done only once. Not very good food at all (sorry) and since I do not eat fish, your recommendation is not really of any value.
Ver-o-Peso, can be done maybe twice. Full of lowlife scumbags who want to talk to you all the time. I want to enjoy my meals and my beer in an environment without some guys trying to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) me off.
Honestly this city is extremely depressing and as Sperto said, it rains every single day.
I'm sure that someone who hasn't traveled all around Brasil even Belem might be interesting.
Just a sidenote, there are more people dying violently here almost every day than in Rio. Local paper is full of these news.

Perkele, what part of town are you working in? Lazare has good restaurants for everyday stuff, much better than say Copa. Estacao I mostly like for the ice cream (especially cupuacu which is hard to find anywhere else). I agree, working in Belem might be difficult except for certain professions. There just aren't the conveniences that we take for granted so readily available. I quite like the feeling of 'slowing down' - but if I was working there with deadlines to meet and so on I would probably be less ok about it! I do feel the best source of info about places is probably local people - but the problem is often that they have no idea about western tastes and so make mistakes recommending things.

I do hope you find a glimmer of hope somewhere before you get out of there. Where are you off to next?

Yeah I meant Nazare - typo - can't imagine why you find it shitty (apart from lack of work amenities. The Japanese restaurant is good, the kilogramma is one of the best. The other thing I'd do for food was follow events - if there was a good band on at a trendy bar somewhere, there was usually decent food. But most things suck and taste shit if you're not having fun.

Ok. Let's define first what I think is good.

I like restaurants where you can get a good meal and where there are not too many yuppies. I just can't stand "rich" people, showing off etc. Ties, suits etc. just for me means uptight assholes who think that world goes around them.

Now, I have already been in quite a few italian restaurants here, nice but gets boring after a while. I went a few kilo restaurants, cold food and bad selection, basically inedible. Especially Spazio Verde is a shithole.

Another thing they have here is that many better restaurants are booked for private functions, especially during the week.

There are no good churrascarias. No good seafood restaurants (seafood, no fish).

I just wouldn't even think of eating japanese food, raw fish just is not my thing (or other seaweed etc.).

So all in all the options are quite a few.

What would I like to find is a restaurant that serves fresh chicken dishes, meat, some salads etc. Here all is stale, burnt or otherwise poor quality. Even in the hotels, Hilton, Crowne Plaza and others the food is simply subpar.

For sure there are plenty of bars if you can stand local BS music and BS people. I'm tired of explaining who am I and where I'm from. It sucks when you are being harrassed by curious bastards with whom you wouldn't talk anyway. I'd tell them to fuck off, but there is still only one of me and thousands of them.

Another problem is taxi drivers. They think that they are so fucking smart or they do not know where the addresses are (I'm talking about well known buildings etc.). Its tiring when everybody is trying to rip you off.

Trust me, this is an asshole of Brasil.

Funny. I've been in all those places except Aracaju and I found them thousand times more pleasant than here.

In Boa Vista, Palmas and Teresina it is still possible (or was) to take a walk without some assholes bothering you all the time.

Here number of bums is amazing. Like yesterday. There were 2 kids begging for money in the entrance of a nice restaurant. What's that all about? If I were the owner I'd kick their ass and send them running. Not here,,,, Well, anyone may understand that I wouldn't go to a place that lets people beg for money in the entrance, and I mean right at the door.

This place is so poor and violent that Rio and Sao Paulo are starting to look like paradises.

What about the traffic? Well I won't even go there.

In late November 2010, on my way to Fortaleza, I had a few days stopover in Belem on some personal matters, but I was able to check out a few venues for a general report on centro in Belem. Luckily, I got there the day after Belem had experienced some extreme raining / flooding, were some areas of the city were underwater. I forget how much it can rain there.

Hotel Grão Pará, Centro (Av. Presidente Vargas, 718, Tel:+55 (91) 3321-2121)
From the airport, I walked outside to take a bus to centro and the Hotel Grão Pará, (located next to the Hotel Hilton and across from Praca Republica, on Av. Pres. Vargas). At R$75 / day, the Hotel Grão Pará, is nice hotel to stay in, but is NOT a GF hotel anymore! But not to worry, just around the corner 1-block behind Hotel Grão Pará, is a couple of decent Motels for R$15-17 for 1- 2hrs.

Other Hotels
Icamiaba Hotel, Rua O de Aleida. 476. Centro (about 4 blocks from the Hotel Grão Pará, just off Av. Pres. Vargas), GF Hotel, ph. 55) 91-3230-1150/3223-3341/3324-7700. Email:icamiabahotel@hotmail.com (R$70-85)

Thursday night I went to the Apororoca Club (R$15 by taxi, R$10 by moto taxi), decent enough club, fairly large and lots of security staff. This was Baile the saudade (slow dance forro) night, and despite a somewhat rough looking crowd, there were one or two doable ladies in the mix. Definite possible hook-ups with local girls, if you can navigate your way past possible jealous boyfriends or other interested parties / brasilieros. Didn't get a chance to see the action on other nights, but it's a pretty popular club, so I would imagine it gets pretty crowded on Sexta (Fri.) and Sabado (Sat.), which are the more popular nights. Entrada is R$10, beer is R$3, garrafa of beer is R$5 and a Smirnof Ice is R$5. I didn't get the opportunity (nor did I take the chance) to hit on any girls there.

Apororoca Club:
. Quinta Baile the saudade (Slow dance forro w / some techo)

. Sexta: Pagodge.

. Sabado: Techno Braga.

. Domingo: Tudo Mix.

Grabbed a R$10 moto taxi back to centro (about 2:30am) and walked around to check-out any action around Praca Republica. Bar do Parque, had the usual riff-raff of GDPs, with no gems to pick from and the nearby park area had no SWs that I could see. This was also true of Fri, Sat and Sun night. As with other cities this trip (Manaus, Fortaleza, Rio), there seem to be a big lack of SWs. I guess the Prefeituras are cleaning house.

Club Paraiso (Rua Senhor Manoeul Barata, Centro)
One of the big surprises was Club Paraiso (orange owning out front on Rua Senhor Manoeul Barata towards the end closest to the harbor / docks). Free Entrada and most drinks were R$5. Programa most girls R$50 / hr with decent room w / showers & towels on site. Had some really good looking semi-pros (decent number of 7's. 8's for jungle standards), with 35+ women on site, on Thursday thu Saturday (6pm. 10pm) when I was there.

First time there, I managed to get a very nice anal for R$40 with R$10 tip, room R$15 / hr, from a MILF indio type chick (decent 6, no stunner, but decent body, great attitude and performance). Another time I took a nice semi-pro morena (decent 7) with a great ass, R$50 for 1hr. Good, but not a great performance. Sessioned with one other garota from Club Paraiso, a black-indo chick (decent 7), for R$50 / hr.

I really liked this place and spent good deal of time here and overall I found this place to be a great hangout with lots of nice / decent looking semi-pro and pro girls. It opens from 12 Noon till 10pm weekdays (or until empty) and till 1am / 2am on weekends. I was told Club Boulevard 'B' (used to be across from the docks), closed down about 6 months prior and Club Paraiso opened about 1-1/2 year ago and is the main place to go in centro.

Hot Sexy (Centro)
Hot Sexy and couple of others sex clubs (in the area), which are located in the slightly rougher part of centro, can be found 2nd from last street, before docks and about 3 to 4 blocks in. They felt safe enough with taxis coming and going and decent set of 6's. 7's by jungle standards. Free Entrada, all to most drinks R$3-5, programa R$20-50 depending your needs / girl, room R$10-15 / hr. Since the rooms here were a little scary and they wanted R$15 / hr for the room, I decided on take-out with a cute slim indo chick with big floppy tits for R$50 (ate goza) and paid R$17/2hrs at the motel behind tHotel Grão Pará.

Hachie (Docas / by the stairs at the end of Av. Pres. Vargas, w / red neon sign. Gay club, by the docks) Friday night, doorman said gay, but also said they had lots of very nice garotas inside. I didn't verify this and did not go in, especially since they wanted R$20 entrada. Saturday night, was suppose to be good, according to doorman, but when I came back Saturday night, to verify the type of girls going into the club, I did not see any crowds or people entering the club. So I cannot say if this is a club worthy of trying out. My guess is NO!

Estação das Docas and Ver-o-peso
In past years regarding Estação das Docas and the odd GDPs that once were found there, I didn't see any thing that looked like it would possibly be any GDP action. Very family oriented area with lots of good restaurants to eat at. If you're like me and prefer the cheaper options, try the lanchonettes at Ver-o-peso, just down the street from Estação das Docas area. With some luck and charm you may even score the odd local girls working in the area.

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to try any of the other clubs, like Locomotive (mainly because I hate paying these huge taxi fares to get there and back. And too many pros for me at these type of clubs). Besides, with Club Paraiso (in centro) and 35+ women on site, there wasn't really a need to venture out of centro to some of those over priced clubs.

Summary
Overall this trip, I found the girls in Belem (for the few days stop over that I was there), to be nicer looking than the girls in Manaus. Maybe due to the fact, I didn't find as many nice semi-pros in Manaus as in previous years and the semi-pros and to some degree the pros in Belem, seemed sweeter and easier going IMHO. I really enjoyed Belem, this trip.

I forget how much it can rain there....Thank you, Spidy, for a great Belém report.

Hot and Sexy, do you have any address? Is it located in of the shopping streets?

It's a shame that old Boulevard / Barroco closed down. Did you notice if Altas Horas is still working (Travessa 7 de Setembro. 324, close to Praça the Bandeira)?

BTW, Paraiso street no is 105.

BTW, Paraiso street no is 105. Thanks Sperto! Hot Sexy is located either along Rua 15 de November, I think (or Av. Castilino Franca). It was last or 2nd from last street before you get to the stairs (on Av. Pres Vargas) that lead to main street on the docks. One of those real narrow streets that look ominous and real scary at night. There are about 2 or 3 other similar low-end, but smaller clubs located in the approximate area. Hot Sexy may have been there before and has just renamed itself.

Now that Club Paraiso is there, can't say I miss Boulevard 'B'. As for Altas Horas, I don't remember where this club was, sorry can't comment.

Just a quick note as I think someone maybe said this place had closed. It hasn't (or at least it's open now).

The entrance has changed slightly and is even more discreet and they've added a turnstile but it's in the same place, hours etc. See my earlier posts.

Regards.

an update on belem hardly seems necessary as very little seems to have changed, even prices. if you are comfortable trolling the narrow streets of comercio / campina after dark, there is always the odd 'new' one to be had (eg just now, boîte*nefertiti, on rua general gurjão. 100yds off vargas / praça the republica, and situated between 1st de março and padre prudençia, open from 6pm saturday).

two places that i think someone was maybe trying to describe are at rua gaspar viana 196, about 200 yards in from vargas, ver-o-peso side. think boulevard without quite so much fish sewage smell. one or two hot strippers, so a good free option if you want that. not many working girls to the large number of men. saw a hot young loira branca i'd banged the previous afternoon at paraiso but didn't fancy doing her again that late in the day.

but the staples of altas horas, paraiso and locomotiva provide enough real cuties mixed in with uglies to satisfy a non- prime mongering destination. i used to think of locomotiva as heaven till i accepted i could get the same quality of girls (often the same girls) at paraiso at less than half the price. rooms aren't quite so upmarket in paraisp but quite acceptable. on the other hand, altas horas has a better sound system and better rock videos. since both places had a refit, paraiso seems to be doing a live strip show more often (and charging rs5 entrance). like the old boulevard, a little free daty as part of the show if you are lucky and willing. altas horas has what must be the cleverest international wc signs to differentiate between male and female toilets: the men's one is an animated colour neon sign of a man [CodeWord112] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord112). a woman can't [CodeWord111] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord111) in that position hence international clarity! locomotiva has an upmarket feel to it and there's a big choice of rooms once you select a girl (look at the price list, no need to pay more than rs20. if you don't insist on what type of room, she will just choose a more expensive one. the standard price for the nice girl is still rs100. when she asks for twice or three times that just laugh as it's part of the game. you *never* need to pay more than rs100. you do not even need to negotiate. if you go on the way to or from the airport, the taxi is only rs15 - about half what it is from downtown.

i think the most useful additions might possibly be non-mongering tips. eg there's not many lavandarias in belem. find a good modern one at rua arcipreste manoel teodoro 685. few mins walk from the hilton. wash & dry, rs7 / kilo.

also hotels. unless you are adamant about taking working girls back to your hotel, the price of a basic, bare, dingy, uninviting hotel room can be the same as something quite luxurious with lots of comforts and a nice place to hang out. i've stayed in about half a dozen or so and the rat-holes on vargas or in comercio are not, imo, worth the money. *

finally, i seem to have rescued one or two tourists who can't find places to eat that are open, or are afraid to eat at the market stalls, and who don't want to pay high prices. a place that is often open when other places are closed, and is quite newbie friendly, is a restaurant at the top of 28 september, a few yards from vargas.

hope all this helps.

It's nice to know that things haven't changed in Belem and there's still enough GDPs and cuties to satisfy any mongerer. I was never one for Locomotiva, due to the distance, taxi fares and the higher prices, but still worth a visit now and again. I always felt that there was more than enough to satisfy my jungle needs in the downtown district.

It's maybe worth mentioning that it is not that far from the airport. You can easily session there if you have a wait between changing planes, or just drop in for an hour or two on the way to the airport or on the way into town, as I have.

Was in belém a couple of weeks ago and out of 5 days, went to paraiso 3 times. A big selection of women, even earlier (after 1:30). Dropped by Altas horas as well but limited selection and older. Paraiso had a lot of cute young girls and is open until 10pm. Paid either R$50 or R$60 per girl and R$20 for the room. Because I found this place, I never made it out to locomotiva. Maybe next time. Also on Sunday afternoons, the Açai cafe on the street facing the river around cathedral de sé has a really packed reggae event that starts around 4pm. Don't know the cover, but cans of beer are R$1.50. I can see spending more time in Belém. Thanks to the board for reporting on these places.

I see mostly people affiliated with the Olympics in Zona Sul. Obviously restaurants, boates are more busy but in general its just more chaotic for the local population.

Fake euphoria I'm not partaking in.

I'm not here for the Olympics-fuck the Olympics! LOL I spent the opening day of the O in the favela in Botafogo, Santa Marta, at a churrasco for family / friends and afterwards linked good ole Rochelle from mv30 in Copa.

Rio definetely is not benefitting and I can see this place going into a sharp decline after. It already is in a crisis and The Olympics is just a temporary Fireworks display for gringos and the better off part of the population.

I'm off to T31 later to grab round 2 with the 19 year old lebanese looking morena with the bangin body and perky natural young tits and fun attitude in bed.

Oh she politely asked for a tip for BBFS if I wanted (50) -I did give her a thank you for CIM and great attitude. Just a little but enough to keep them where we want them.

I arrived at Paraiso today about 5:30 PM. It can be found on Google Maps. But on Google maps you can see the building painted with Paraiso on it. It isn't painted like that anymore. I missed the place the first time I walked by. Then I looked at the address number on Google maps and the businesses next to it. I found it the second time. I didn't see any sort of sign that said Paraiso. But it is where Google maps shows it.

Entry was 5 Reals. It is hard to estimate how many ladies I saw. I constantly seen ladies that I hadn't seen earlier. One lady walked in to the club before I did and she showed her passport to the security guy. I would estimate maybe 40 ladies work there at a given time. I only counted one gringo, myself included. There are a few ladies with very nice bodies, and some average bodies, and skinny and fat ladies. Something for everyone. I didn't see any ladies that I considered very beautiful in the face though. I didn't want a beer at the moment, so I ordered a Red Bull, that was 15 Reals. I learned that I had to pay for it at a cashier first, then you get a chit / token to show to the bar showing what you paid for. The girls are not aggressive at all. I looked and watched for about 45 minutes and nobody came up to me. I didn't see them going after other guys either. I seen one of them I would liked to have tried but she would smile and that was about it. Some guy came up to her and they disappeared. I seen another lady, and she smiled a couple times and walked away. She came back lady and we smiled at each other, then I had to give her a hand motion to come to me. I don't speak any Portuguese, so I had to use my phone as a translator. I think this is the first time she seen someone do this. I think I was her first gringo also.

I asked how much and she said 100 Reals. I might have been able to offer less, but I didn't bother. I thought 100 was for everything though. I had to go to the cashier and pay 30 Reals for the room and a condom. This is for 30 minutes. Then we went behind a door and I had to pay for towels. I don't know how much it was. I think it was very little. We went to the room and it was OK, not the best, not the worst, but the air conditioner was working very good and it was already cold inside. I'm sure I was her first gringo. She gave me that look. If you have been someones first gringo you will know what I am talking about. She used a condom for everything, and didn't kiss, but that didn't bother me. When she was sucking me I was playing with her ass, then she put my hand on her crotch. I thought she wanted me to play with her pussy, but twice she moved my hand to her pooper hole. I was like, OK, I put my finger in her pooper hole for awhile. She got on top and it seems like she was enjoying it, then she would look me in the face like I was her first gringo, and fuck me some more. She then motioned me to do doggy style. I didn't try or ask to do anal. It was probably available since she liked me putting my fingers in her ass. She didn't seem to bring any lube though. I was happy overall. She was very nice to me and she asked me a couple times if I was happy. I gave her a 100 real bill. I didn't give her a tip, because I think I got a gringo price already. She was happy with the 100 and didn't ask for more. I would have got her contact information, but I am leaving tomorrow and I don't know if I'll be coming back her. She did try to figure out what hotel I was staying at though. I had a hard time understanding her. LOL I think her name is something like Luisa Marie. A 20 year old with no kids. She kind of looks like a black girl, but I think her hair was naturally straight, or she did a good job of making it straight like that, or had hair extensions. He body is nice and natural, and quite firm still. After I finished, I played with her ass for a little bit and we agreed she has a firm ass. She had some nice nipples also. A pic with her clothes on is attached. I should have asked her for a picture before she put her clothes on.

Did you notice if the clubs Altas Horas (Travessa 7 de Setembro, 324) or Boulevard/Barroco (in the port, in front of Ver-o-peso) are still open?On my first night I settled in very late. On my second day I was only walking around. On the 3rd day, today I went to Paraiso. I was supposed to stay at Hotel Grao Para which is walking distance to Paraiso. I showed up at the hotel at 8:30 PM and they said they were still cleaning rooms. What a joke. They said I can wait, and there are people waiting before me, or they will send me to Hotel Sagres. It seemed like an OK deal, since Hotel Sagres costs more, but the location sucks.

Needless to say I only went to Paraiso. Tomorrow I'm going to Manaus and I will be staying in Condomnio do Edifcio Antnio Simoes for 7 nights. I expect I'll make up for the missed nights here in Belem while in Manaus. I'll map all of the rooms there. Are the doors marked to make it obvious that they are privs? In Hong Kong ladies would put stuff like Christmas decorations on their door.

A refreshingly different slice of life.

.Does anybody know if these bars are still operating?

I don't know. I havn't been to Beirada since 2008. It's a fun and interesting place to visit, drink beer and watch strange people. 13 bars together in an alley. Caution, it's definitely a dangerous place with lots of bandits. Few taxi-drivers will agree to take you there.

Belem often reminded me of years ago when it was a good thing to be a gringo in Brazil. Friendly people and believe it or not, helpful taxi drivers who didn't overcharge.

The key bars downtown are Paraiso, DVD, and Saideira.

Saideira (formerly Boulevard / Barroco) opens between 10 PM and 11 PM, and can close after sunrise. They are slow to get started but can be full by midnight. Lots of very good looking girls who act and dress like sisters. Plenty of choice, unless you insist on long legs, in which case you are out of luck in Belem. Strip shows every hour or so. R$10 entrance. R$ 10 beers.

Saideira is easy to find with a big sign including a sign advertising guest strippers. Just down from Ver-O-Peso Hotel Their motto is "Where your night of pleasure begins."

I first went to Parasio on a Saturday night around 9 PM. Things were winding down and almost empty by 10 PM. I carpooled with a couple of girls to Saideira only to find it wasn't open yet. We went to Hang Burg to pass the time. Hang is a large open-air restaurant. The food's not good and the live music is very off key, but the atmosphere is great. No girl would refuse an invitation to Enge.

Paraiso opens in the afternoon, R$ 5 entrance. Friday around 6 PM it is packed, at least a hundred girls. These places remind me of junior high dances. The girls stand in groups talking with each other and the boys do the same. Even though there may be more guys than girls there are plenty of girls to choose from.

Paraiso is on the last block of Rua Manoel Barata to the west, easy to miss, no sign. It is right next to Casa de Lampadas down the block from Mundo de Lampadas.

DVD, aka Altas Horas, is very discreet. It's in an old building on Travessa Sete de Septembro around the corner from Paraiso. Number 324 is painted on the right side of the door and 326 is on very small ceramic numbers to the left of the door. Inside the theme is Harley Davidson with a motorcycle on stage in place of a stripper. They open before noon and close by 7:30. Business is slow but a few good looking girls come floating by, a relaxed place to hang out.

My only tirp to Locomotiva was on a Monday about 7:00 PM. The bar was closed, but there were three girls standing in the dark in front of the motel. So, all I know is, don't go there on Sunday or Monday night.

The bar at Rua Gaspar Viana 196 is only open at night and has a bad reputation including the drugging of drinks. During the day, across the street, at number 213 is a small bar right next to the old O Liberal building. It has a tattered banner, see. See. Ribeiro. They were very friendly. I stopped by several times to cool off.

Beirada is but a vague memory.

There is a small bakery / market, Deli Cidade, at Presidente Vargas 325. They have fresh bread and surprisingly good croissants.

I've been in Belém for about a week and like everywhere else, the best girls are online now. There are plenty of horny non-pros at the bars and on the street, I often catch myself sharing a look with a good looking lady here. I'm here for work and didn't have time to sit around at bars hoping for a good catch, so I went online.

Found two stunners on vivalocal and Fatal Model, the two most popular listing sites. Manuela was 24 and Flavia was 30 ( looks about 22, but she admitted she was actually 30). They cost a pretty penny if you were Brazilian but as an American the exchange rate is phenomenal right now. Definitely luxury girls and it showed. Manuela actually charged for the real time we spent. I spent two and a half hours with Flavia and she didn't bat an eye over the are $200 that was supposedly what she charged for an hour. But, we both had a great time. It was my first time experiencing the Brazilian love motels, and they are a ton of fun. Both girls enjoyed pictures and the mirrors make it awesome.

The girls here are all crazy for anal. Manuela explained that even more than the rest of Brazil the Paraense girls are, as she put it in Portuguese, all "anal sluts". I loved it! Both girls did oral "sem camisinha" and enjoyed some heavy and very wet grinding before putting on the condom. Girls here are not into finishing with oral like some other places but I'm fine with that.

I think you need to speak a decent amount of Portuguese and be comfortable navigating alone to have any fun. But, my Portuguese is pretty poor and I was fine. As was mentioned above, the taxi drivers are universally helpful and honest. They also just started Uber here though I didn't try it. The prices were significantly cheaper than a cab but very few cars right now. Still, you need to be able to tell the taxi drivers where to go, and know at least with google maps where you are. Between picking up the girl in your taxi and going to the motel it's easy to get very, very lost in a worldwide of confusing streets. But, most of the girls were in São Brás or other barrios outside Centro and Cidade Velho.

Have fun and don't forget to try all the forest fruit flavors at Cairu. The Amazon Beer at Estação das Docas is incredible. The Cupulate Porter is very good and the IPA is very serviceable. If you are craving a good beer apparently it now exists in Belém, it sure didn't when I was here before! I remember Antarctica being the best around, now Cerpa has export Tijuca and suddenly the beer is good. Oh, and the açaí com peixe at ver-o-peso is to die for. Get it with dourada catfish and make sure your wallet stays in your front pocket while you are there.

Belem definitely does not get much love from previous bm'ers. The majority of past reports are outdated and slightly negative in nature so when I arrived to town I came with low expectations. I figured coming to belem for a long weekend would serve as a good stopover on my way to Manaus. On my way into the central part of the city I passed by the famous boate locomotivo. I knew if all else failed, I could venture there for a quality evening of entertainment.

IMO, belem is a city where there is absolutely no need to seek out working girls. There are loads of civilian non pros in the 18-22 age bracket that gave me plenty of attention. I went to an outdoor complex of bars called Vila container which is made up of old storage containers stacked on top of one another. In all I would say there were roughly 15+ bars within the zone. The area was packed with groups of friendly locals and very flirty girls. I admit that I am well passed my prime years. I'm 42, my hairline is beginning to recede and gray hairs are slowly taking over my previous natural color. I relay this information because I want to paint the picture about how much attention I was getting from younger woman half my age. I made out with three girls who initiated the encounters and ended up taking another one back to my hotel for a night of pleasure. The following night I returned to Vila container where I met another group of locals. They took me to a club called Woodstock and I made out with 2 18 year olds who simply introduced themselves, asking me first if I was straight or gay and then if I was single. The next question was if I felt like kissing. Wow! Belem! While off the beaten path, I can recommend a visit. Not too much to do during the daytime and the city is run down and kind of rough on the eyes but the real fun is to be had at night. I look forward to visiting again.

I've always enjoyed Belem and thought the action was also pretty decent for "off the beaten path". In the past I've had some minor success with non-pros, but found them in Belem to be a little clingy, when it became time to leave.

Thanks again, for the non-pro update in Belem. Looking forward to a possible trip report out of Manaus. BTW, you're probably also likely to find similar non-pro action in Manaus.

Good Luck!
