(This post is about 8 months old -- it's fairly complete and should serve as a good guide to this great city for sex.)
RECIFE:
Recife has a layered, compact scene. The main location for sex activites is near the southern terminal of Boa Viagem -- the main beachfront road. Orient yourself, though, about 2 blocks back from Boa Viagem, as the street itself is fairly dead.
Here, at the terminal, are most of the cities famous sex-bars: "Chakatak," "Bamboo," "Eclipse" and "Brazil Eden Club." The intersection for these four clubs -- all basically caddy-corner to each other -- is Souza Leao and Setubal.
At the time of this posting Eclipse and Brazil Eden Club had been closed for 6 months.
Chakatak is the cheapest club in this area. Entrance is free and drinks are cheap. Most of the girls are a little homely -- but the place is friendly and a good place to hang out. Most of the women asked somewhere between 50 and 100 reals. There are no rooms here. Must go to a sex-motel (or take them back to your own).
Bamboo, around the corner, is a little better. On any night there are about 50 girls here -- still mostly homely, but some tending to the higher range of the index. Most of the girls charge closer to the 100 reals end of the spectrum. Like Chakatak, there's no sex on-site.
Incidentally, there's a row of dirty, cheap restaurant-bars between these two venues. Almost all the girls you see hanging out here are available, and will probably show up at one of these two clubs sometime that night.
The most famous place in Recife is "Sampa Disco" -- about 5-7 blocks south on the large street inland from Boa Viagem. Many cute girls. Many hustlers. The two I were with both rushed the sex, and the second rather insolently insisted that it is "normal" to use two condoms. Big time attitude.
There are two termases in town: "Termos Club Mar" and "Termos New Club Scandinavia." I didn't go to either. The first is on Sampa street a few more blocks up.
Maybe the best scene, I hate to say, is the street scene. On any given night that first large inland street is teeming with fine young (all 18+) girls. And I mean fine. I know many of you avoid street walkers. Buuut....
Prices for these girls were all around the 50 reals range. Talk to them, flag a cab, and take them to the numerous sex-motels close by. Try "Del Rey" if for some strange reason neither she nor the taxi driver have any ideas.
There's some dire action in centro, in an area called "Recife Antigua." But it's almost medievally bad and should be avoided. The area is pretty rough, too.
Finally, the beach promenade isn't as safe as it looks. A group of guys tried to mug me there late-night. Take care.

P.S. The street I keep mentioning but never name (two in from beachfront Boa Viagem) is "Conselheiro Aguias" -- or something like that (I can't read my own handwriting!).
The girls at Sampa typically started price quoting around the 200 reals mark -- but were the most flexible I've seen in Brazil in terms of negoitiation. I got them both down to 100. They all ask for cab fare when your done.
Also, some of the Sampa girls seem to like to be paid first -- which could mean bad service. Sampa girls bunch up with friends -- so if you have a bad experience with one girl, chances are that all of her friends will give you similar grief.
In addition with Jwadd report i could recommend the food court of the main shopping center of Boa Viagem (close from airport), crowded with many regulars but semi-pros too, it's a good place to hunt on end afternoon/early evenings.
Agree that "Sampa" disco is a good place to party, some girl's level is quite high (even if the sophistication of SP chicks has not yet arrived in Recife !) and many are really friendly, anyway much more than in Help ! Drinks and food are cheap, it doesn't cost too much to be nice with the girls, with maybe a immediat reward (discounted price..:)).
I saw many of the Sampa chicks going suntaning on the portion of beach front of the hotel 'Luksim Palace' on Boa Viagem...
The Luksim is not guest friendly and i moved from there to the Canarius Hotel (rua dos Navigantes-Boa Viagem-phone (81)34651532) a three star with a little pool where there was no problems to bring girls back at night.
I will be going to Recife in mid-Aug. I see a number of you went (discussed going) in June.
Please tell me more about your trip - names of the places and type of action there, expected costs for women/beverages/food, etc.
Also, I/we plan to go for a few days to Porto De Galinhas. Anyone been there? How's the action if we don't bring with us women met earlier in Recife? I've read that PdG is a good to catch Recife middle class women on the weekend - true? or better to be in Recife on the weekend?

here's some details, us$=r$3.1, ratings are imho of course (i'm quite picky, and i live/party in south beach):
sampa-
visited here at least 3 times. small cover, maybe r$10. girls are 5-8s. all girls we talked to started at r$150 for various times, 2hrs or all night. i suspect all would stay the night, unless you take one out very early and she has a mind to go back for another shot - which i did see happen the one night we stayed for a long time with our girls. i talked one down to r$125. the lesser looking ones might go for less, if you talk them down i suspect. exit fee of r$15 for taking a girl home. a call vodka is about r$15-10, a red bull maybe r$8, a beer about r$8, if i remember correctly. optimal arrival for me is between 11-midnight, say 11:30. get there after say 12:15 and you won't have your choice of location. after 1a some good girls are already taken.

visited here many times. no cover, no exit fee. girls are 4-7s. maybe an 8 there. girls are not quite as clean as sampa, and more likely to not have had dental work. r$100 seems to be asking price, though i suspect the lesser looking ones get less. limited quality liquor choices, but drink prices are very inexpensive. 10 oz draft beer is r$1!! 20 oz german bottle is maybe r$7. get there about midnight. after say 1:30-2a the best ones are taken, but not always, some arrive late.

i found it very fun flirting with these girls. but it's a serious drop in quality, say the best might be a 6. of course, very cheap, r$50-75 at most. but these girls are not too clean, and likely haven't improved their dental status.
beach, in front of recife palace and from there in both directions-
gotta love brasil. all a gringo has to do is sit/stand around and the girls start trying to make eye contact. pick one out, if she smiles back she's yours. worst case scenario is you get a phone number or you have to work through a couple of dates (ie she's not into taking money), otherwise you can likely get her back to your apt, whether she's a girl from the scene or a girl trying to make some money on the spot.

or something close to that. it's well south of boa viagem, on the other end of piadade. i think the girls wanted maybe r$200 for 2 hrs? my friend took one, and she did leave after about 1.5 hrs, he worked her ;-) anyway, a local friend of mine brought her to lunch a couple of days later, and what i thought was just a lunch date (he kept telling me we won't have to pay them) was followed by 2 hrs in the sack. i paid her r$50, though she never asked me for money, she did ask my friend for money from me... i didn't see many good girls in this cuba club, but i only saw like say 6 girls. 4--6 or -7 with a 7-for-sure i guess.
i stopped by one other place, but i don't remember the name. it was towards the airport, but not the place many of the locals all say to go to, which is right by the airport. this was an outdoor place in what looked like a bad neighborhood but was probably just a typical neighborhood. it was surronded by walls, of course. it looked like there were some good girls, 5-7s, i saw an 8, but we got there late. my local friend said it opens at 5p, and we wanted to hit it at like 8p, but never made it. they did want a cover, don't remember how much.
we also spent many times at the bars and clubs, chasing the other crowd. fasion club, teatro, bar do bode, some foho/pagode outdoor dance thing that happens only on sunday (but it's a huge gig) about 20-30 minutes into the city away from boa viagem (i thought this was a good gig - tons of girls of the other type).
food-
the best restaurant is boi preto (black bowl). about r$30 for the best meats and buffet in town! there are many good self-service (buffet) spots in town, for very cheap and excellent food. a great one is only about 3 blks from bamboo, it's called chica pitanga. you'll struggle to spend more than r$15, and for say r$10 you get a great plate full of your choice (choose what you want from say 3 meats, 2 chicken, 3 seafood, 2 fish, many veggies, maybe an ox or goat or rabbit, and killer deserts). for a nice regional food (if you want that) self-service, go to parraxaxa. about same price as chica pitanga, but i liked c.p. better. we had a killer meal at some restaurant right on the beach (over looking a paved bball court that the kids were playing soccer on) in piadade. the parking lot was across the street from the place, and the taxi drivers stayed in the place while you ate and then gave you a ride home. i mean, tell this description to a taxi and it'll be enough to get you there, without the name of the joint. the fish with shrimp sauce (whole fish stuffed with shrimps) was maybe the best thing i ate the whole time, maybe r$12.
hotels-
we stayed in the suite at the recife monte for a week. then i moved to canarious, about 1 blk away, for 3 nights after my friend left. the monte was totally girl-friendly, but made them register (where in recife doesn't require registration?). canarious, hmm, did they require registration? i don't remember. but they were certainly allowed the girls up there. we checked out some other hotels, and they were not girl-friendly. this included the tall hotel acorss the street to the north (not the dive to the south) from the old church (church is at praca do boa viagem, or at rua novegantes & rua barao de sousa leao). i've heard the palace is not girl-friendly.
i went to porto de galinhas also. a good place for a real resort scene. no real girl scene though, so bring one from recife. nice usable beach, sailing, snorkelling, surfing (maracaipe beach about 2 mi south). good inexpensive gifts for the girls can be found where the main street hits the beach, or in the little "mall" of 6 stores about 2 blks from beach on this street on the north side. things like cool stone necklaces r$10 or bracelets $r3 or nice little earring stuff r$1-3 the girls all love.
the ocean at boa viagem is not usable. first, it's always very windy, so don't be thinking carribean-type ocean. also, in 1993 or so they build a new jetty out of the port, which changed the way the run off and polution moved into the sea, which killed many microscopic sea life, which caused small fish to move, which caused the big fish to move. thus, all the tiger sharks now congregate at boa viagem. it is not safe to swim, let alone surf. people die in the sea there every year. it was not like this before they modified the port or what ever they did.
good laundry / dry cleaner across from the old church (to the south). second day return, low prices (half my suitcase for maybe r$30).
internet cafe down the alley across from the old church is cheap - r$3 for 1 hr!
pharmacies don't require perscriptions! (except for narcatics like valium, etc). so plan to load up, if that's your gig. viagra (make sure you get the 50g doses, the 25g doses don't save you 50% money) is like 4 for r$70.
we also met many girls (amateur) at the recife shopping mall.

Please note that from September 2002, due to a modification in the hotel management policy, to bring ladies in hotel is not more allowed even if lady has valid ID documents .

The other hotels in Recife ususaly allow tu introduce girls but some charge an extra and some other one allowes but only night time. I suggest clearify this point at booking or chek-in.
Hotel Gianadeiro accept girl introduction at any time and without extra cost and is a nice bilding located just in front at Boa Viagem beach, double room cost is about 90 Reals per day (Sept. 02).

first, beware, my info is out of date since i haven't been in recife in 10 years. however, from what i hear, things haven't changed much.
don't go to "termas" in recife - they are only for gays/tv's and the like. as i've written elsewhere, different cities have different names for termas (sauna, clinica, etc), but in this case, recife has none, only has gay "bathouses." i hear that, the *****house scene in recife has gone to hell (there used to be some good ones in guararapes), so that's out too for daytime fun. all other boites, clubes, discos, etc are strictly nightime.. and late, like rio. when i was in recife, i used to have dinner! at 1am every day, just to give you an idea of late.
which leaves... the beach. which ain't bad at all, if you think that copacabana beach is hopping, then wait till you see boa viagem. (my girlfriend in recife would send her sisters to the beach with me to "stand guard" while she was working (varig, before you get any funny ideas)). pretty much any girl who catches your eye (i.e. is "making eyes at you", staring at you), is fair game. usually, no portuguese required, just mentioning taxi and hotel should be enough. beware of your hotel's visitor policy though, i hear that things have tightened up over the past 10 years. likewise, non-pro girls are very approachable.. "oi tudo bem..." etc. of course, you need portuguese. (again, a side note, *i* was picked up once by a 30-ish gal who owned a jewelery shop along the beach.. she was sunning herself during her lunch break, then next thing i know, we're going at it in her back-room workshop. :))
ok, enough digressions! the only downside to recife is that it is full of german tourists (being 1/2 german, i can criticize freely). of course the good side of the german invasion (every cloud has it's lining), is that where you see a lot of german men, the gp's are right behind, buzzing around them. if you walk along the beachfront sidewalk, you'll see several spots with tons of krauts hanging out and lots of brazilian girls. sit down, elbow helmut out of the way, get a beer or caipirinha, and do what comes naturally. in front of recife othon placa is famous. anywhere from bamboo disco to a little beyond the othon (i.e working your way north, towards penha beach - which is dead - and the port) works as well, including just strolling along the beach and smiling at any pretty girl you see sunbathing or sitting yourself down (with a beer...) and waiting to see what comes along.

i never hit a terma, and i never heard anyting good of them, infact never heard anything of them.
best bet for daytime action is lining up day action during the nights. girls you meet at the pro-bars will very gladly supply their numbers for dates/action the next or following days. likewise, if you chase higher class girls (non-pros) maybe met in non-pro clubs, one may line up dates (if not action, which i have to say is unlikely in a first date) for daytime.
past posts here are accurate in describing the beach scene, which is your next best bet for day action.
last, although you'll likely not get action out of it, the recife mall is great for flirting, meeting girls to get a number which leads to a date/action, or just a place to go in the day.
note, both non-pro bars/clubs and the mall require some good portuguese skills. the beach scene and the pro-bars do not.
last, the list, and especially my report of aug, are very accurate for identifying the best pro- and non-pro bars/clubs/nightspots.

I had only one hour off in Recife, so I went to the beach to do some chica watching. Not sure where I was, but there were many girls around. Mostly Mulatas of course. Did not see anything above a 7+ though. So I passed.
One Mulata, perhaps a seven, an eight if I was drunk. offered me a suck and fuck for one hour for 30.00 USD, but I declined.
All in all, from what I saw, was not to impressed with the beach option. IMHO

recife seemed kind of dead when i went...with very few people on the beach. sampa was pretty bad, maybe 1 or 2 girls worth anything.
the street scene was bad, lots of **** girls or drug addict looking girls.
casa da odete was bad to, maybe maximum 5-10 girls there when i went.
but recife looked cheap, and lots of good looking girls at the mall.

I am only going to be short here just to give a general update on the scene in Recife. My apologies for the late report but I spent a few days in Brasília where I got caught up with many things. Having spent four days in Recife over the Easter, I don’t know if this was the best times to have been there but like a true pro I simply made the most of it.
I stayed in the Blue Tree Tower Recife; generally a reasonable hotel centrally located on Boa Viagem. Unfortunately, I did not check into my hotel until around midnight so I basically did not check out any action on the night of my arrival although the chap I was sitting next to on the flight offered to show me around as he was hiring a car for the night, but I had to pass on that one.
My first day I checked out the malls in Recife and I guess that if you invested a little time you could get to know a few of the girls in the malls, I got to know one or two females who worked in a couple of stores located there. Recife was my now my third Brazilian city I had visited so looking through the newspapers I opted for a garota who advertises in the newspaper; this was actually the fifth girl I had tried to call two were unobtainable, one I had spoken with had such trouble with my Portuguese that she hung up on me (cheeky) and the other girl had quoted a price of R$50 and I said that I would call back later if I was interested, she didn’t try too hard to sell herself to me. Finally, I got through to what I thought was a loira called Kathe, tel:344 23778 she said she would be down in 20 minutes which actually turned out to be closer to 50 minutes, well this is Brazil.
I explained to her that when she arrives at the hotel to call me and not to sign in as an acompanhante I received a telephone call from Kathe, to say she was just outside the hotel and I walked towards the front of the hotel to have a look, since I was staying on the 15 floor. Just as I left my room the guess in the next room was just coming out of the elevator with a garota he was around 60 years old and around 4.6ft tall, she was aged 19 and 5.8ft tall and sexily dressed (actually this guy reminded my of Hank Hill’s father in King of the Hill) and the way he was holding her hand I thought this is definitely a garota. Anyway by the time Kathe got up to my room and we discussed terms she asked me if I liked her, and yes she was fine. Then I heard the room door next to me go and saw through the spy hole that the garota with Hank Hill’s father was finished and now off. Although, Kathe was not a loira as she described herself in the journal or technically she was because she was a mulatta with dyed hair, but still she had a nice body and was an attractive girl around an 8. Her price was R$50 (U$15) which was not a bad, the sex was so so, cbj only, but she had no objections to photos as long as I avoided her face. She was a bit of an exhibitionist I think because she kept asking if I liked the pale marks on her body from where she had been sunbathing. The only thing is that after the sex Kathe was putting on her clothes ready to go. For the price this was good value I would, if in town, hook up with her again she didn’t ask for any extras for a taxi and for a girl that had just had a child she was in very good shape.
I also took an opportunity to have a look at the street scene which any taxi driver will know where it is, as I kept passing and seeing the garotas on the street, but typically when you’re in passing car they always seem better looking. I walked along the street from below the far up to up by Bamboo and counted something like 32 garotas but be warned I spotted two transvestites. In general I would say that at least ten of the girls looked fairly young, one of them looked like a typical (ho) prostitute the way she was dressed, slip top/boob tube and hot pants and then when I walked passed she was all over me. I would say that at least four of them looked quite old, if that’s your thing. Only five of them I would say were acceptable by my standards about 6-8. Prices they mostly all quoted R$50 for the program. The garotas tend to be on the street from 8.30pm, but sorry I cannot recall the exact name of the street. To be fair I did not observe any of the garotas who appeared to be on drugs. I got talking to one of the garotasand in the end took her out for a coffee who then wanted to come to my hotel because she wanted the money more than a coffee. In the process of my walk only the street I observed the police doing spot checks on cars in the area, but totally ignored the garotas working nearby, so providing your vehicle is ok you will have no problems with the police
During my stay in Recife I checked out one strip club that I had seen on the internet and in the local jornals, Noturnos www.nightclube.com.br Rua Barão de São Borja, 212, Boa Vista, Tel. 81 3222 11 24, What is surprising is that the web site give the impression of these five garotas who work there including the new ones. I arrived there at 10.30pm, early for Brazilian standards, but I was only the second person there along with three garota, I was told it was quite most days and busy on Fridays & Saturdays. There was nothing happening on the stage. Anyway, you have been warned anyone interested here are the prices, entrance R$7 (U$2) a dance of three songs R$10 (U$3) the girl get fully naked, I don’t know if you can touch them, I didn’t try; one hour upstairs, in one of their rooms above the club, with a girl costs R$50 (U$15). On average I would say the garotas were 5-6 for anyone that is interested. After two hours in there I was the only customer after the other guy had been upstairs with one of the garota and one of the girls was asleep waiting for any customers the two others were just sitting around.
IMHO Recife is maybe not as popular at Fortaleza but from what I saw of the two cities, there is not much difference in the garotas in fact I would have to say that several of the garotas were selling themselves too cheaply at R$50 (U$15) but to be fair this did feel very much like a business transaction. Compared to Fortaleza where garotas were quoting between R$70-100 (U$21-30)
Hotels in general seemed very relaxed, I was staying in the Blue Tree Tower and had no problems with any girls coming back, but this may have been due to this being a hotel/ apartment. Naturally, if you had time to invest it would be easy to find GFE because there are many attractive, single women in Recife, I got many telephone numbers but sadly did not have the time to follow up. Be warned that many girls will call you up and transfer the charges onto your cellular, I found out much later when I couldn’t understand why my credits were going down.
On tourists I did not see many tourists Germans, Americans or any other nationalities just 90% Brazilians. Recife is worth a visit of you are looking for destinations to check out with an airpass and good value for money.

I am a Kraut ;-)) myself and actually didn't really feel THAT offended by Tomb's post..
Anyway: Last time I went to Recife was already a year ago and I didn't see too many non-Brazilian tourists, i.e., Americans, Dutch, Germans or any other nationality, there.
I stayed at the Sheraton, a couple of KM south of actual Recife city. Though directly at the beach, that hotel is relatively secure because of the hotel guards. However, once in a while, a garota de programa gets through to the pool / terrace area and will try to make contact with lonesome guys, especially when the families are not there. Once they are inside the hotel area, it's easy to get the garota to your hotel room (the elevators are partially out of sight for the receptionists). Unfortunately however, I've also seen gay man being allowed to cross the line between beach and hotel and approach the male folks tanning by the pool. Disgusting to me and you probably - but I've seen guests (OK, actually only one) there who invited the gay guy back upstairs to his room.
I personally didn't venture too much out by night and preferred hunting by daylight.
I agree with Juniour, the malls are another great way to pick up girls by day, aside from the (sometimes pretty dirty/littered) beaches of Boa Viagem.
I had to leave Recife after only 3 days but for my next trip sometime, I certainly would be interested in other opportunities to pick up girls in Recife, especially by day.

I had a question - if anyone could please comment on this. I've been to Florianopolis (Floripa as they call it),and I'd say it's 99 percent european looking girls, Rio is probably 50-60, and I've heard that people in the North-East are primarily black (take Bahia for insntance). Is this true of North-East in general or only Bahia? I plan to spend a couple of months learning Portuguese in Recife, how are the girls in comparison to other cities, especially I am interested in non-pros/semi-pros. Or can you recommend a better place for extended stays (I prefer NorthEast due to temperatures year round).

an answer to this question if of course a major generalization, but given that, i'd say in recife it's
15-20% euro looking,
something less than 50% balck or native-african looking,
and more than 1/3 morena/mix looking.

day 2: saturday. went to the famous sampa disco. it was really late, 3.00 am. no free g, but some ugly one. drinks was expensive. went outside, lots of sw on the rua de boa viagem. a couple of them i spoke to asked me r$30-r$50, but nobody had a document, so i declined. i spotted 3 or 4 really **** girl, i mean 12-14 y.o. please, please, please, for youself and for them, avoid them like plague!
well, that night i had a very bad mood due to those **** girls, so i went back to olinda and slept alone.
day 3: sunday. it was earlier than the night before, let's say it was midnight, but on sundays sampa disco was closed, so i went to the bamboo club. r$10 entrance fee, cheap drinks, no exit fee. 30g, rated 5 to 8, in real good mood. i had a loirinha, true 8 but personal 9, r$100 in motel, but i think i could have her for less. good experience, good gfe, but at the end she tried to sell me a photo, from the bamboo bar, for r$20. i declined. she offered to come with me at the beach, the day after, but i had to leave.
first of all, my information is very dated compared with many you see. but just to throw in my 2 cents. please feel free to correct me if i got it all wrong.
the city itself definitely is not as sophisticated and modern as rio or SP. many of the main roads are still non paved or paved poorly. so that gives you an idea. also, most cab drivers do not seem to know where they are going. it can be frustrating that they just run up the meter looking for the places. i did not take city bus and cannot provide report on the bus experience.
most girls in recife seems to be of a darker tone. this is not surprising since as you leave the airport, most passengers, male and female tend to be darker with a native feature to it. the place is real hot and muggy, even in the middle of winter. lots of moquitos flying around. however, te thing i love most about recife is their seafood. compared with SP and Rio, seafood in recife tastes much better and even fresher.
in terms of night scene and girl scene. since i spent only about 4 days 3 nights there, my experience is limited at best. i visited a couple of sauna joints (similar to Rio's termas) but the facilities there is at best primitive and the offering is extremely slim. i would say the girls there may range 3-6 most, not even one 7 or 8. the girl (a 5 on 10 scale) i took in to the room was so unsure about herself that she asked if i want to have sex with her. she told me i am too good looking for her and she is "more or less", so she was not sure. i respect the girls and don't judge girls just by the look but honestly, she was one of the more homely girls i met in brasil. which brings me to the point of my overall impression of girls in recife. honestly, since i love the morena claro and the loiras look of brasil, i am not the best judge of recife girls. i presume if you like mulatta and darker morena, you will like recife girl more.
Sampa club seems to be a nice boites with lots of street girls outside. in fact, many street girls would go into Sampa to work their trade. based on my two nights experiences, I met mostly full time, all pro girls. so they can be quite hardcore. the fee quoted ranges from R150-R250 for whole night however the two girls i met did a bait and switch on me and left after a few hours (their babies are sick. :)) also, i noted one of the girls stole my camera - albeit a very cheap camera. i consider myself an old brasil hand and converse pretty fluently portuguese but that was the first and only time i got things taken out from my room by the girl, especially by a girl who told me she "loves" me. :)
in terms of hotel, the parthenon hotel is real top notch and very cheap. i went there in winter and the rate was barely US$45- a night.
recife may not be the best place i visited in brasil but i may want to go back and just give it another chance. may be......
RECIFE UPDATE:
I've attached my old report from 9/01 to the bottom of this update. Most of the things I refer to are detailed there.
The street scene is much about the same. Girls proliferate down Conselheiro just about the same way and in the same frequency as before. IMO, quality has dropped off a bit -- and there's a new tendency in the girls to offer Gringo/Brasileiro prices as if you didn't know the difference. Don't pay more than 50R for these girls. Really.
The street scene, though, starts a whole lot earlier than I remember. I saw a lot of girls out there by 6 p.m. -- with peak hours around 1030-11, and the scene becoming pretty dead by 1a.m. (even on weekends).
The Chakatak/Bamboo area is as seedy as ever; maybe a little more so. Both clubs (each owned by a different ex-pat German) feature the same low-ish end type of girl for about 100R. If you're tastes run on the high end, you probably won't find much to get you excited here. Both have minimal entrance-exit fees.
"Sampa" was open this time, and had a higher end of talent (as expected) -- but not that high. On a busy night there're about 50 girls inside: some cute (7-8), but many in the 5-6 range. Prices varied on the girl with the 100-200R range being the norm.
Again, there're no facilities on site. Entrance is 15-20R (depending on the night), the there's a 10R exit fee for the girl. Drinks are normally priced.
Finally found "New Scandinavian Club." It's a little past the Chakatak/Bamboo area running to the south. I did not go in, buts it looks pretty large from the outside and is definitely worth a look. It might be a termas. Dunno. Check it out and let me know.
"Odette's" is a place new to me (but a Recife institution, apparently) that I got a chance to go to on three consecutive nights. It's one of those live-in "ranch houses" wherein the girls hang out in the evening, hook-up with a john (either having sex there or leaving with a fee) only to return to their rooms on site later that night (or when they return in the morning after an all-night stay).
It's got a pool and features good, mellow, live music most nights. It gets started a little earlier than the other clubs -- around 9 p.m. -- and will have about 30 girls to choose from at its peak. Many were pretty good looking (7-8 range), with none below a solid 6.5.
I only got one price quote from a girl -- 250R (which I easily talked down to 200R). It was for 2 hours. I didn't get a price for the rooms or the exit-fee. But, as there were many native Brasilian men there, I wouldn't think it'd be too high.
Also checked out a new club: "Cuba Club." It's WAY to the south (about 20 min. by cab). On a Tues. night it had about 15 girls -- many cute. It has a 50R entrance fee and has no taxi queue outside -- so getting a ride back into town can be a bit of a wait. Apparently the place is pretty happening on the weekends. I found it to be a little too far out of town with too high of an entrance fee to justify how few girls there were inside.
The "Parthenon Flats" complex might be the best place to stay. The residences are nice, and pretty cheap (50-100R, depending on size, etc.). Girls no problem.
I checked out Recife Antigua and found it to be totally devoid of action. Last time I was there, there was a definite garota presence (if low-end). I was there on a Sun. afternoon -- that was probably the problem.
On the whole, Recife wasn't as good as I remember. There weren't as many cute little busty loiras on the street, the girls at Chakatak/Bamboo were a little moochy-aggresive-not-that-cute, Sampa was only o.k., and the one girl I wanted at Odette's kept on getting away. Oh well. Maybe I'll have better luck next time.

OLD REPORT:
Recife has a layered, compact scene. The main location for sex activites is near the southern terminal of Boa Viagem -- the main beachfront road. Orient yourself, though, about 2 blocks back from Boa Viagem, as the street itself is fairly dead.
Here, at the terminal, are most of the cities famous sex-bars: "Chakatak," "Bamboo," "Eclipse" and "Brazil Eden Club." The intersection for these four clubs -- all basically caddy-corner to each other -- is Souza Leao and Setubal.
At the time of this posting Eclipse and Brazil Eden Club had been closed for 6 months.
Chakatak is the cheapest club in this area. Entrance is free and drinks are cheap. Most of the girls are a little homely -- but the place is friendly and a good place to hang out. Most of the women asked somewhere between 50 and 100 reals. There are no rooms here. Must go to a sex-motel (or take them back to your own).
Bamboo, around the corner, is a little better. On any night there are about 50 girls here -- still mostly homely, but some tending to the higher range of the index. Most of the girls charge closer to the 100 reals end of the spectrum. Like Chakatak, there's no sex on-site.
Incidentally, there's a row of dirty, cheap restaurant-bars between these two venues. Almost all the girls you see hanging out here are available, and will probably show up at one of these two clubs sometime that night.
The most famous place in Recife is "Sampa Disco" -- about 5-7 blocks south on the large street inland from Boa Viagem. Many cute girls. Many hustlers. The two I were with both rushed the sex, and the second rather insolently insisted that it is "normal" to use two condoms. Big time attitude.
There are two termases in town: "Termos Club Mar" and "Termos New Club Scandinavia." I didn't go to either. The first is on Sampa street a few more blocks up.
Maybe the best scene, I hate to say, is the street scene. On any given night that first large inland street is teeming with fine young (all 18+) girls. And I mean fine. I know many of you avoid street walkers. Buuut....
Prices for these girls were all around the 50 reals range. Talk to them, flag a cab, and take them to the numerous sex-motels close by. Try "Del Rey" if for some strange reason neither she nor the taxi driver have any ideas.
There's some dire action in centro, in an area called "Recife Antigua." But it's almost medievally bad and should be avoided. The area is pretty rough, too.
Finally, the beach promenade isn't as safe as it looks. A group of guys tried to mug me there late-night. Take care.

The girls at Sampa typically started price quoting around the 200 reals mark -- but were the most flexible I've seen in Brazil in terms of negoitiation. I got them both down to 100. They all ask for cab fare when your done.
Also, some of the Sampa girls seem to like to be paid first -- which could mean bad service. Sampa girls bunch up with friends -- so if you have a bad experience with one girl, chances are that all of her friends will give you similar grief.

I spent a few days in Recife, I think I could add some useful info. Bear in mind that language was not a problem for me.
Sampa was overpriced, from the entrance ticked (the price seems to depend on the day of the week, I was asked R$20 on a busy Friday), to drinks, to women (starting price is R$200, easily negotiable to R$150, even lower to R$100 after some talking). Around praca de Boa Viagem there were either ugly girls asking R$100 or some better women asking R$200 (I didn't try to negotiate); most girls are hardcore professionals here, almost all black or dark mulatas; plently of German speaking people here.
The best place at night is Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar, in front of Sampa. I hired a taxi and drove all along the street, talking to some girls, following advices of the driver (if you speak even a little Portuguese or Spanish, take a taxi at praca de Boa Viagem; those drivers know what you're looking for, they are willing to help you). To the south of Sampa, the girls look too young; a little to the north, a concentration of TS; further north, more women, but didn't look as good as those in front of Sampa.
Prices start at R$50, but some girls go for R$30, if you take her back in one hour or so; all night is R$100. I counted about 50 women total (excluding the young, TS and too old), of which some 15 or 20 were comparable to those inside Sampa.
Go to a motel (taxi drivers know them all), some are just R$15 for two hours, others are much better and charge R$40 for an overnigh stay.
Another option is to check out the Classifieds at Jornal do Comercio, specially the Sunday edition. I called some girls in, about three were deceptive, but three or four were very good. These girls know each other, you can tell one of them what's your preference, they try to get it for you.

I was in Recife in September. Based on this forum's reports I did not expect too much, but in the end I found it pretty good.
I only went to the boate "Sampa", which had good reports here on the forum. I was more than satisfied.
Well, I did also take a long walk down Conseilheiro Aguiar to look at the SWs. But I would say, don't waste your time, they all have a "vaca" kind of demeanour, and none were very good looking. Most are young (lots of 18, 19yo). Price is 50r, but really I saw nothing I wanted.
Anyway, Sampa is the upscale option, but in Recife still very affordable. I could easily find an 8 or 8.5 looking girl for 100r, all night. They will probably ask for a little extra for the taxi home.
The majority of Sampa girls work at the boate every night. They get favourable terms from the club if they meet dress standards, turn up 7 nights a week and always arrive before midnight. Basically they avoid the 10r entry fee that a more part-time girl has to pay to go to Sampa. If she leaves with you, the girl pays a 10r exit fee to the club later on (this on top of the 10r exit fee that you pay).
Best time to arrive at this club is between 11:30pm and midnight, most of the girls will already be there, and you get to pick the best ones. Probably the only downside of this club is the limited selection, about 30-40 girls. Of these maybe ten girls rate a 7, 8, or 9. Of course YMMV, I admit I tend to like the dark eyed, caramel skin look that is common in Recife.
The Boa Viagem beach looks OK for hanging out, although not many people swimming there. Note, you should go early, I only made it around 3pm most days, and it was already winding down fast. The designated spot for garotas de programa is in front of the Recife Palace, about in the middle of the Boa Viagem strip. Best time to arrive is midday (easier said than done, I was still waking up from the night before).
Plenty of hotels in the Boa Viagem area. This is a big city so there are not really any informal pousadas here, just tidy commercial hotels ranging from 60-200 reais. I recommend Hotel Jangadeiro, on the beachfront avenue, cross-street Antonio Falcao (http://www.jangadeirohotel.com.br). About 90 reais with discount (you should always ask for discount or best rate, they drop the price about 20% without even blinking). I did not personally stay here so can't guarantee you it's garota-friendly, but someone else already recommended it so should be cool.
Recife appears to be a very good city for meeting non-pros. I got a lot of looks on the street, and plenty of girls like to flirt. I think if you lived in this city you would have all the action you could handle.

Made a brief visit to Recife this month staying in the Recife Palace hotel on Boa Viagem beach. Well equipped hotel with reasonable rooms but didn’t bring anyone back there so can’t comment on their guest policy. A place to eat is Ilha da Kosta, off Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar which has good food and is popular with Brazilian couples. No pros in the restaurant although they are to be found all along this road being picked up by cars and taxis until daybreak.
Sampa, Tel: (81) 3465-3099, www.sampanightclub.com.br also on Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar is supposedly the best stripper and freelance girl bar in this part of town. Entrance on a Friday night was R$20 with drinks at around R$7 for a caipirinha and R$10 for a shot of whisky with ice. Some good looking women in here as well as many average ones. Most are pleasant but pretty hard core about business with a few having done the circuit in Portugal, Spain etc. It doesn’t take long before they ask you whether you are looking for a “programinha”. Cost can be negotiated from over R$200 to around R$100 depending on the girl which can annoy those who have worked in Europe. A visiting stripper from São Paulo did a short show on the pole which was ok.
The place shuts around 0400-0430 with most of the remaining girls congregating around the “churasco de gato” barbecue and the taxis outside. The star girls of the house however left quickly by taxi with boyfriend (and/or pimp) in tow. Didn’t go with anyone as I was tired and this type of place is not really my scene but it was an interesting evening anyway.

I have been in Recife for one week, at the beginning of July 2004.

The girls/men ratio is about 3/1.
There are very few tourists in Recife in this period, because of the low season and because the Italians aren´t yet arrived, as you know 90% of Italian people go on holidays in August, thanks God I can go in July.
All the girls told me that in August is packed with Italian people, the prices rise because of that and the ratio girls/men tends to be 1/1.
So don't go to Recife to fuck in August.
About the Help disco in Rio, I think that 90% of the girls there are overpriced, they are too "professional" for me, and they are very smart and sometimes dangerous, many scams there.

Sorry for the delay in my response, I have been enjoying myself in the Dominican Republic; now to answer your questions.
The Blue tree is five minutes from Boa Viagem beach, not sure if its as nice as it looks, it depends on what pictures you are looking at, but I would have no problems staying there again.
Yes, no problems with garotas coming up to your room, due to the fact that this place is also part apartment residence as well as hotel. Generally, the prices in the northern part of Brazil are better than down south.

I was in Recife last fall. Stayed at a hotel called Savaroni, right on the beach in Boa Viagem, two blocks from the action. Price was about $30/night.
One problem with all of the hotels I checked out is that they all seem to have two single beds, and none with queen or larger. Oh well.
Anyway, I was impressed with street action in Recife. Avoid the trannies and check IDs for age, and you'll find quite a few gems. They only ask for R40 for two hours, while in the bars they were asking R100+.
Dollar for dollar, I found that the NE offered a far better bargain than Rio. The sheer numbers aren't there, but there is pretty good quality, and safety was not an issue at all.

I guess it depends on your tastes. All of the action is on one long street, centered between the clubs/bars. Sampa (a club, usually with entrace fee and exit fee) is on one end, and several blocks down are a couple of bars, Bamboo and Chakatak. I personally had more fun and variety by just walking the street between the two areas, checking out and chatting with the girls. There are dozens of girls of all types, standing around or sitting at the bus-stops. Don't worry, they are all on the program, and they are all conveniently located on the same side of the street. :)
I found that the girls in Sampa were probably the best looking, but they were also more 'professional' and stuck-up. Bamboo was a nice outdoor bar where you can just have a cheap beer and talk to the girls. The streetgirls were the most eager to please, though.

I just spent some time in Recife. I was not pleased with the Boa Viagem scene, ie Sampa, Chakatk, Bamboo, and explored other areas of the city. I found a club in Boa Vista called Noturno. It is just off of Conde de Boa Vista. It was OK. I went on a Friday night when there was a topless special. All the ladies where in bikini bottoms only.
There are rooms upstairs for private action which cost R70. There is also outcall for R150 I think. The entry charge is R7 and beers are R5. The girls ask for drinks or trips upstairs. There is a stage but the night I went there were no dance shows.
The biggest problem was transportation. My hotel was in Boa Viagem but public transportation stops around midnight. The taxi from Boa Vista to Boa Viagem was around R15-20, or $5-7. I didn't feel like paying that every night so I only went once.
I'm in Bangkok now, the street scene is very bad due to pm taksin policues. I use a microbicide gel instead of condom, no problem. I want to go to receife in early november just wanting to know if the street girls would be ok with gel instead of condom. In other words do most street girls need condom?

The airport is in the city of recife located. I always took the bus. The bus is at your left when you leave the airport entrance. The bus makes a roundtour through Recife, including Boa Viagem. Or you can take a cab. Because the airport is in the city, just walk a little bit off the airport to the main road in front of the airport and take a cab there. With regular taxi's (never took an airport taxi) I almost never had problems. Only once when they didn't have change.
I went to Sampa tonight and there were a ton of 7+ girls. It was completely dead when I got there at 9:30 but by 11pm it was jumping. It was the hottest concentration of girls I've seen in my limited trips to Brazil (Rio once, Sao Paulo twice). Recife is a "must do" on my next trip (I was only here for one night on business this trip and have a very early flight).
I was not very optimistic due to the recent entries on the board but the selection was terrific. Just wish I'd had the time to pull one (or two or three or four for that matter).

I arrived Recife last night from Rio. The flight is approximately 3 hours. After checking in the hotel I found out about going to Sampa club, which is on Boa Viagem beach. I booked my hotel and trip through a travel agent but luckily I found out that Sampa Club is only 4 blocks away.
The entrance fee for Sampa Club is R$20 and as soon as I entered I figured out that this club is nothing but a mini Help disco from Rio. There were about 50 girls in Sampa Club. The girls were pretty but just like Help very few deserved a second look. After being spoiled in Rio for the last two months I just couldn´t get my self to pay R$200 to any of those girls in Sampa Club. They were nothing more than a 6 or 7 in my book. Now if it was the freaking U.S. I would have gladly paid $80 for these girls for even 30 minutes of their time.
It was already 1:00 am when I left Sampa and started to walk towards Bamboo club. On the way I saw several girls that were pretty good looking. They were all over on that same street as Sampa and Bamboo Bar. I must have seen at least 100 plus girls on that street. After talking to couple of decent looking girls I found that the street price is R$40 per hour for these girls. I was tempted to stop right there and go with one of the street girls, but since it was my first day I wanted to finish checking out the local Bamboo Bar as well.
Unfortunately, by the time I reached Bamboo bar it started to rain pretty badly in Recife and I knew I am stuck with whatever is there in Bamboo Bar. The entry fees for Bamboo was R$10. As I entered the bar I was sure there is nothing worth even R$50 in that bar, but as I said I was stuck and had to have some action for the day so I started talking to one of the girls who was may be a 5 in my book. The girls attitude looked pretty good at the bar so after talking to her for a while I started talking prices with her. She starts with R$150 and settles for R$70 for 1 hour. We took a cab to a local hourly hotel which cost like R17 or so. The taxi ride to the hotel was another R$7.
The girls attitude turned pretty bad as soon as we entered the hotel room. She did not even want to do BBBJ, which is very important for me. She told me she would only do covered BJ, that pretty much pissed me off. She also started to make fun of me not being able to understand portuguese. I was sure tonight is turning from bad to worse, so I just did my business with her and had a lousy fuck once and told her that I am tired so vamos (let´s go). It was not at all a good experience for the first night but I am sure I will try again tonight. Let´s see what the lady luck brings me for tonight.
In short my first night recap is that come to Recife for it´s beautiful beaches and other stuff but Rio rules as far as mongering goes.
John, i wouldn`t write Recife off so quickly. I had best experiences there some years ago, but maybe things have changed since then. Try to learn some basics so maybe you can negotiate before taking her home. Things like: "chupa sem camisinha?" => BBBJ, and "vocè faz anal?" should be in your vocabulary...
Try one of the bars near that small square (is it Praca Boa Viagem?), the one near Hotel Boa Viagem, i think the bars are Chakatak and Eclipse...if they haven`t closed by now...i brought back a girl from there that had the most awesome control of her vaginal muscles i`ve ever experienced, it was like fucking her and getting it sucked all at the same time and for 50Rs the night!

FYI, I had some pretty good experience with a street worker my second night in Recife. She was about 20 years old. I forgot her name but boy I probably will not soon forget the service she provided. Since I didn´t know the vocabulary you just added to my knowledge, the experience turned out good but no BBBJ. Oh what a shame for these girls in Recife to say no to such a good thing.
Now I am loaded with additional vocabulary and surely will use it before taking any girl back to my room. Just a little note I paid this 20 year old girl R$50 and the room cost in Recife for 2 hours was R$20 or so. A very good experience for US$23.

First day in Recife. It´s a fairly big city but definitely has a small town feel to it. I´m staying at the International Palace, centrally located at the beach in Boa Viagem. Did a walk-through last night, and the street action was pretty dismal, although it was about 2am at the time. From what I´ve read here the clubs aren´t worth visiting, but I hope the street action gets better. I also walked all along the beach today - nada! I feel like I´m missing something here, but maybe my expectations were excessive. I understand that the area around club Sampa is where most of the action is located, but again I didn´t see much. I also walked about a mile in each direction from Sampa and couldn´t find the other clubs mentioned on this board. Any suggestions, guys?
I like the laid-backness of this town, and the people are very friendly and helpful. Hopefully tonight will bring better action.

In Boa Viagem, there is a small strip club Ave. Cons. Aguiar towards Boa Vista. I think the street number is 1875. I know that there is a small park nearby and police outpost across the street . When I went, there were only 5 or 6 chicas an 1 customer. None of the chicas had the body type I am into, though only 1 was really unattractive.
In an earlier post I mentioned a strip club in Boa Vista called Noturno. That place was OK. It is just difficult to get to at night because the buses stop and there are no more private minivans. It is not very far the the big Riachuelo store next to Shopping Boa Vista. I am sure a cab driver could get you there without any difficulty.

Well last night I went into the old part of the city, an area called Polo Bom Jesus. It was really jumping with lots of people and dancing in the streets. Then I hit the club Sampa. There were about 40 or so girls, mostly 5-8´s, with a couple of 9´s and 10´s. The protocol here is very different than in Rio - The girls won´t approach you or even make eye contact unless you approach them first. I found out later that this is house policy.
I hooked up with a beautiful blonde, said she was 19, Fernanda, and took her back to my hotel. My hotel, the International Palace, allows chicas in the rooms. I´d rate her performance about a 7 and would not repeat only because I just wasn´t crazy about the scene at the club. Price: R$20 club admission, $R31 for two drinks, and $R150 for an hour with the girl, total = $R201. Next time I´ll try my luck on the street, where the quality is just as good and you can get a girl for 30-50 reals.
The beach here is lovely, no pro action to be seen, but great for sunbathing and people-watching. People are genuinely friendly and helpful. I do like Recife.
Well, here´s my two cents:
Arrived day before yesterday. Watched the debates and was too tired to head out. Curiousity got the best of us, so went on a recon. run. It was 2:00 A.M. We covered a range of about 5 blocks to either side of Sampa (club). A few individual garotas, all on the far side of the street. Perhaps 20 in all. All in groups of 3-8, some alone. The range was 5-8, or so. But only a couple 8´s. Sampa seemed sorta active. This was a thursday night. All the gals mentioned were probably 15-25 yo. Funny thing; none of them would establish eye contact. No "come hither" looks. However, when spoken to, they light right up. Its either a cultural thing, or the L.E. has made it clear solicitation on their part was a no no.
We were looking for Chakatak and Bamboo. The guys on the street seemed reluctant to answer, especially the 19 y.o. police officer! I asked a group of guys hanging with the garotas (friends?), one of them said I´d have to ask the guy cooking the chicken on the grill. The chicken dude said they were a long way down the road, worth a cab. I have come to know that Chakatak is closed, and Bamboo is awful ( dirty, and down right ugly gals).
Last night, we went to Sampa at 10:30. 20-30 garotas. Very slow feel. Some watching the tele. Weak music. By 11, many more had arrived, and the music started to kick up. Once again, however, no looks at all. It was weird. There were maybe 5 "8's". I had my eye on one sitting with 5 friends. I finally just marched over there when her buddies went to dance.

Last night I was determined to check out some street action, however scarce it may be here. There were very slim pickins. The best lookers get picked up real quickly by cars (I´m on foot), so one has to be quick. Finally as I was about to give up I saw a beautiful tall morena getting out of the car and went over to talk to her. 19 years old (with id) and a total GFE, all for $R50. That´s about 17 dollars US. Jackson was right: There is absolutely no correlation between price and quality of service. This girl was the best I´ve had in Brazil so far.

i spent a long weekend in november in recife and was reasonably impressed with the quality of the garotas. very nice town and boa viagem beach was packed as it was a holiday weekend. all hotels seemed to be girl friendly - as long as she is 18 and has id to prove it.
i checked out the street scene in boa viagem on friday night - it gets started at about 8 or 9 p.m. on the main one-way north-south roads - av. conselheiro and av. domingos ferreria - a couple of blocks in from the beach. although there were lots and lots of garotas out, they are very rep001tered along these streets. each block had about 2-5 garotas on it, continuing for many blocks. without a car, however, it was hard to check them out. i walked up one street for about 5 blocks and down the other 5 more blocks, seeing about 40 or so garotas. quality was poor to fairly goody - mostly in the 4-7 range, but they were not aggressive at all.
i then hit sampa later that same friday night - it is on av. conselheior aguiar in boa viagem, down near the shopping center recife. it does not get going until about 11:30-midnight. i saw a few garotas who had previously been working the streets near the club - they had changed into nice clothes (or more likely had taken off their sweaters or coats to reveal club clothes underneath). the club is kind of small, but fun. at its peak at about 1-1:30 a.m. there were about 50 garotas there - mostly 7-8s, with a couple 9s. nice variety of types - mostly white to light brown morenas or pretas, a few loiras, and a couple afro-brazilians, even saw two sisters that looked like they were from sweden - blond hair, blue eyes, pale white skin with freckles - they were quickly snapped up. i would put the quality as equal to that at bomboa in sao paulo or l'uomo in rio (although the women were generally lighter skinned than those usually found at l'uomo). need to be able to speak portuguese as maybe a third knew a few words of italian and/or english, but most spoke only portuguese.
cost to enter for men was r15. drinks were reasonably priced - i had a few beers and bought a couple beers for some garotas. total cost for the night was r53, including my entrance fee (r15), the entrance fee for my garota (which is paid for by the guy when he leaves with her) and the drinks. the entrance/exit fee for the garotas depends on when they arrive - ranging from r10-20. i talked to a couple of recife locals who were at the club. they said that the garotas charged r175-225 for all night action.
you had to approach the garotas yourself, otherwise they will either dance or talk to themselves. after talking to a few, i started joking with a fun 23 year old, about 165 cm (5'5"), white skin and kind of deshelved black hair. she was a definite 8 and a lot of fun. we laughed, drank, and danced for a bit, then i asked if she wanted to spend the night with me - she enthusiastically said yes, and i offered her r200. she readily agreed.
back at my hotel, she went into the bathroom and said she had a surprise for me - she proudly appeared, but i could not tell what she was excited about. turns out she had been wearing a black wig and actually had nicely styled brown hair. i asked her why she wore the wig, and she replied that she did not want people to recognize her at sampa - that she spends one weekend a month there as she makes a bit over the monthly minimum wage working at a clothing store, and needs the extra money. we had several great gfe sessions before falling asleep. the next morning after doing it again, i asked if she wanted to go to the beach. she agreed and went home to get her stuff. we had a great time at the beach that afternoon, before going back to my hotel - where she fell asleep for several hours.
when she woke up i asked if she wanted to go to dinner and then spend the night. she replied that she would love to, but that she needed to go to sampa to make a little more money this weekend. i told her that i would pay her another r200, that i would take her to dinner, and that she could then spend the night. she immediately jumped on me and we had another great session - guess she liked that idea. after the quickie, she went home to get cleaned up and came back wearing a nice evening outfit, and carrying a bag with normal clothes and more beach clothes. we went to dinner on sat night, and then had several great gfe rounds. sun a.m. we slept in, had more sex, and then ate breakfast together. we then spent several more hours at the beach. came back sunday afternoon, took a nice long nap, and had another round of action. i asked her where she wanted to go to dinner, and she suggested an all-you-can-eat sushi place (rodizio style). we dressed up again and had a killer all-you-can-eat sushi dinner, including wine and dessert, for about r65. we went back to my hotel and had several more gfe sessions sunday night and monday morning before she left monday afternoon, when i had to go to the airport. as she was leaving, i could see that she was crying - she tried to hide it from me. note - i did not pay her anything after sat night, the issue of money never came up again. total cost=r400 from fri night to monday afternoon and did her about 10 times, all gfe with lots and lots of passion and positions.
in summary, i had a great time in recife and was reasonably impressed with the quality of the gals - although i only did one of them the whole time i was there. the scene is certainly no where near the size of rio's or s.p.'s but most of the garotas at sampa seemed to be good looking local gals who need some extra money. the street gals, however, seemed to be of lower quality and higher mileage. had heard that recife is known to have a child prostitution problem - i fortunately did not see any signs of it, although i only checked out a part of the street scene and sampa. would love to go back to recife and sample more of the nice action available there.
i also hit fortaleza. to compare the two, i thought fortaleza had a significantly bigger and more fun scene (the bars and streets around rua dos tabajaras were a blast). however, i thought that the garotas in recife were, on average, slightly better looking than in fortaleza. the recife garotas were definitely taller than those in fortaleza (as the fortaleza garotas seemed to be quite short) and there were more white/very light skinned garotas in recife than in fortaleza. hope this info helps.

I spent some time in Recife, I did some research for accomodation, the best place I found was the Fator Hotel: http://www.fatorhotel.com.br/index1.htm
Prices were between R$600 and R$800 monthly, about three years ago; flats with sea view are more expensive. No breakfast, but the flats have an American kitchen with fridge and cooker, you can stock up and prepare it yourself.
Even better: it´s very close to the Boa Viagem square, near the beach and the night action; "visitors" must register, but no further questions asked.

I've been hearing reports - nothing firm, mind you - that the new anti-sexual tourism campaign in Forteleza and Recife has resulted in the creating of a new scam. I'd like to hear if anyone's seen or heard of this scam being run.
Basically, the girl claims she's a minor AFTER sex and threatens to "fazer um escándalo" unless the guy pays extra. The Forteleza cops claim to be busting 180 gringos a month on "sex-with-minors" raps and I'm wondering how much of this might be the result of this scam. I've no info from Recife, yet, but seeing as how the same pilot program of the federal givernment is being run there, I'm suspicious.

I returned from Recife this past week, and may pleased to say that the trip was well worth while. The Fator palace in Boa Viagem is spacious, clean, and close to the action. Reasonably priced ($95 R/day before Sept and $115R after Sept 10) and absolutely no hassles about the garotas.
As many of you have mentioned the taxi drivers usually know all that you care to know including the city, restaurants, garotas, and places of interest. Casa Odette is an upscale club with friendly, attractive, nicely dressed women of all sorts but mostly european types of Brasileiras. Sampa is a mini Help, but the garotas were generally not as snotty or brazen and in general lower keyed. Chataka is a step down from Sampa, but with some, not many surprisingly cute pros. Avenida Cons. Aguer, the street between Sampa and Chataka was full of pros after about 8 pm, some very acceptable.
My conclusion about the best place to meet females in Recife in on the beach in the area in front of the Recife Palace Hotel. If someone goes there between the hours of 12:30 and 3:30 pm they would have a very good selection to choose from. Mine was a 7.5 for looks with a 9.0 for personality, in other words...a keeper. In general, throughout Recife and the Nordeste in general you have to be able to communicate in Portuguese at least passably, not much Ingles spoken there.
There is a small guy named Mendo or Mendi, that passes out cards for apartments on Boa Viagem. The apartments are nice. I will post the website when I find the card, but the apartments are cheaper than the Hotels, but a 2 streets away. But cheaper still. I will post when I find the cards.

Recife, and most other larger Brazilian cities, have women of all skin colors and hair colors. I agree that Florianapolis and Curitiba in the South have more European looking women and therefore more blonds than in the North and Northeast, but one having more does not imply the other has none.
If you absolutely CANNOT be with brown haired, brown skinnned women, then by all means go to where there are more of what you are looking for. If you can go with ANY sexy women but prefer "loiras" more than "morenas", Recife is as good a city as any.

Boy did I hit Recife wrong.
My first mistake was staying in Pierdade and not Boa Viagem. Pierdade is a 12 real cab ride away from Boa Viagem. I stayed at the Bluetree Towers and it was too far from the action. The Bluetree in Recife caters to middle class Brazilians on vacation tours. It is not as nice as the Bluetrees that I have stayed in before. There was no Ethernet. Guests were 35 reals extra. It ran about $80 a night including breakfast. I did not use the laundry.
I was not impressed with the action in Recife. I did not see much I liked at the Beach in front of Boa Viagem Plaza. There were definitely women available there. I am not much for the Disco scene on this trip. I went to Sampa but did not take out. I used the Sexomais Internet site. The pictures are real but they have a good photographer. To Pierdade, the girls charged 200 reals plus 30 reals taxi. Due to my lack of Portugese skills I was not able to communicate with the girl I really wanted from the site to get her over to the hotel.
Sunday was my last night in Recife and I decided I would save my reals for Sao Paulo. I decided to pack it in and watch the Charger-Raider game. Just my luck, the cable TV did not carry the ESPN International channel.
The streets did not really feel safe in Recife. The beaches were full of garbage and cigarette butts. The three days I stayed there seemed interminable. I think I will leave Recife for others. Some better players than me have had some good success there. I have no reason to go back.
This is my next stop, anyone want to prep me on the action.

This forum has been useful to me for some time, so here goes my first report (on Recife - PE):
SAMPA Night Club: best looking (or better said best-dressed girls on Recife), I think. Asking price is R$200. I tookout Rose Marie (or something like that). Average service. I'm not going to repeat with her.
Second night I triedy Sampa again, but just the girl attitude (forgot her name, a Rose Marie's friend) turn me off. There must be exceptions, but all the girls in Sampa seem too professional for me, and I'm not looking for that, at least not in North East Brazil (of course YMMV).
So I left Sampa and start to walk on Av. Cons. Aguiar (I don't know if I spelled that right) towards my hotel. On some blocks groups of three or four street-walkers, some (not many, you have to look hard) really cute. The best looking ones have no difference on looks with the girls of Sampa, just poorer-dressed, and probably lower positioned in the social scale. I went to my hotel with Deborah, 20 years old, good service, for R$60 + R$10 taxi. Very good attitude. She made my LOL when I told her that I was from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and she reply me: "Oh, Argentina, fica perto de Espanha, nao?". Poor girl, it is evident that she must have not a chance at a proper education. She seems willing to travel to Spain. I just told her that Spain is very beatiful country (I didn't lie on that), didn't want to spoiled her dream. I don't believe that she could have understand my explanations.
Last night (Sunday) I try Chakatak, but from the front door I could tell that there wasn't many GPs inside. Same with Bamboo (the two bars are near each other and within walking distance from my hotel). Walking towards Sampa I met another SW (not many that Sunday night): Katne (pronounced Katie), 21 years old, very sweet, TLN for R$100, didn't even ask for taxi - fare (she went by bus in the morning). I'm going to take her to dinner and probably another session that night. This was my best GFE so far in Brazil.
Accomodation: by chance I stop on Park Hotel very girl friendly, clean and within walking distance of the action (Sampa, Bamboo, Chakatak). R$143 for a double room.
In conclusion: I too agree with JWadd's comment that the best scene in Recife is the street scene, even keeping in mind that this is the first time that I "pull ass" form the street.

I first mongered in Recife in 2002. I did not find the clubs or the street action very appealing. I used the ads in newspaper. I found a very good looking garota, though medicore attitude, by that means. Those who have had difficulty finding suitable garotas in Recife should try that method next time.
For the guy who stayed in Piedade, there is a club with good reports located there. Cafe Cuba is supposed to have very good looking dancers. I have seen many of their advertisements in Boa Viagem. I have not yet been there for lack of opportunity.
I went there in June 2005 with a girlfriend. There seems to be very little action there of any type. It is a tourist town that caters to families. Outside the town, along the beach, are the beach front homes of wealthy Brazilians.
I did not see any scuba diving shops. The main clam to fame are the natural pools in the reefs off shore, and the sand dunes nearby. Many jangoeiros will take you out to the pools for you to swim in and feed the fish there. There are also LOTS of dune buggy drivers hustling you to take a trip out to the sand dunes. The minimum price was $R80 for the trip. We didn't take it.
We did take a bus to a small town (I forget its name.) not far away, and hung out at the beach there. There were huge sand dunes there too and a guy that gave camel rides. He had 8 camels.
It is worth a 2-day side trip with if you go someone. Do not look for anyone there.
Arrived from Salvador to Recife.
Recife beach scene was nice but not bussling. Met a girl who wanted to sit next to me at the table. Long hair, curvy and great butt. Took her directly from the beach to my room. She said she would be available again that night but I did not call her.
Seen many young American guys on the beach, this was a first. I never see Americans outside of Coppacabanna in Rio.

I met a taxi driver named Ronaldo, hired him for the day. We drove to Onlinda and I was invited to a social club called "Pires". Excellent mix of young Brasilians and the atmosphere was very comfortable. I met a woman named Ingrid. Very nice woman, has a 12 yr old boy. She cooks in a Restaurant that is popular in Olinda.
We had a great conversation, and we went for a walk ran into some friends of hers that had recently traveled to the States. They had traveled to Boston and Newark. They invited us to dinner and I were telling Ingrid in Portuguese that I was the guy for her. (marriage?)
I had to consider whether to spend my few days with Ingrid or go scout Recife. I had to make this call on previos trips. I have seen Recife before but every time I visit I like to venture out further and further into the rural areas.
I just like the traveling, not the hassle of the prostitutes. Meeting regular women takes longer and for sure cost you more in money and time.
Ingrid and I went to her friends apartment for dinner and we had a very nice time. We really had a good time. I didn't feel the pressure of her looking for an American that she could co-hab with for a couple of days.
After dinner I invited Ingrid back to my place for a walk on the beach and a drink in my room. She decined. As we took the taxi up to her little small house, I could see the lights on the hills of the flavela.
I did not want to get out of the taxi in this area. I have been to flavelas before but I was not looking forward to this place because her place was far inside the flavela. My thing was to say goodbye from the taxi.
As the taxi drives around these curves and down these dirt street you could see young guys and girls standing out dancing and having fun.
We arrive at her house, which is small, very small. And she calls her son out to meet me and she invites me into her home. A corwd of women starts gathering around looking at the gringo in there area.
She begged me to stay and that I would have no problem in the area. I was very worried the taxi driver kept assuring me that the area was nice and that his wife's family members lived not to far up the road.
Like an idot I let the taxi driver drive away and I accepted her offer to sleep over. We were inside and I heard a knock at the door and my heart started racing. This small house has no back door and were do I run, there is no street lights and there are packs of 4-5 kids standing at houses talking or kicking a ball.
At the door was her friends from 2 doors down and they wanted to me the American. These women were fine as hell but we were stand in the front of the house and I wanted to get inside and close the f*kin door. As we talked I loosened up and the fear abated. We watched some TV and I slept in her son's bed. Yes, I was not scared at all. She knew everyone in the area. She had taken pictures with many Brasilian celebs. In the night I walk into her room if you call it a room and I climb onto her small bed. We kiss, kiss more and I start to make my moves. Everything is perfect I get the panties off.
She stops me and ask in a soft portuguesse " You hav a condom" .

At this stage I am thinking of checking out Olinda for carnival. I know I have left it late and getting accommodation will be murder but does anyone have any ideas? I can seen a few (booked) hotels but apartments seem non-existant.
I have a quote of R5,000 for the 5 days from one hotel. However, even if I could get over the price I figure I won't be able to have much fun in a top hotel.
Back up plan is that I just stay in Recife but even that will be hard.

IMHO Recife really isn´t worth a visit. The city of Recife is quite ugly. The beach in Boa Viagem is very bad. I think the standard of the women in Recife must be the lowest in the North-East.
Sampa Night Club: Small but pleasant club. Some good-looking girls. Several with bad attitudes. Overcharging, asking for R$ 150.
Bamboo: Small and dark club. Very bad selection of girls.
Bar Maria Bonita: Simple bar located at Praca Boa Viagem. Average standard of the girls are bad with some nice exceptions. R$ 50/2 hours. Worth checking out.
Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar: The onlything I really liked in Recife was the streetwalkers on Cons Aguiar. Some of them very beautiful. Asking for R$ 40-50. Be careful with the girls working without ID.
Non-pro action: head to centro.
I agree with Spertos conclusion about Boa viagem and Sampa. I have been to both clubs and the girls there are nothing special. Would not be worth paying anything over 150R. The clubs are also very small and nowhere to hide. I always compare to Help in Rio.
Overall Recife is not really a place to monger and best to try and relax by the beach. Beware the beach on Boa Viagem has a high risk of being prone to shark attack. follow the locals or brave dippers at your own risk.
Thank heavens I am leaving Recife this afternoon and flying into Rio. I will be in Porto Alegre after that and will be hooking up with a local who has told me he knows the ins and outs so I´ll be sure to report.

I have been to Club Nocturno, and liked the scene there. It is very informal. There is a stage but few garotas did any strip shows the night thatI went. It was a special night called "Noche de Topless". All the ladies were topless and walking around in just thongs. They would sit beside you, ask you to buy them drinks, while you fondled and kissed them. They would offer to go upstairs with you, where the club has rooms. I didn't find anything I wanted to spend lots of money but I did want to go back there.
The problem I ran into when I returned to Recife is that they passed a law prohibiting private mini vans from operating. These vans would run around the clock, so you could take them when the regular buses stopped running at midnight. Nocturno is in the downtown part of the city, Boa Vista. The tourist area with the beach and hotels is in Boa Viagem. Now you have to take a taxi back to your hotel in Boa Viagem and that could cost R$30-40 because it is not a hop, skip, and jump between Boa Viagem and Boa Vista.
On my last trip to Recife, over Christmas, I saw a club that advertised sex shows along the route from the airport to my hotel. I couldn't find out what it was on that trip. I am very glad that Sunset posted about it. My job is rlated to educaiton so I get some days off for Spring Break. I am heading back during that time, but I don't know if I will get a chance to visit the Talisman. If I do, I'll report on it too.

Is seriously consider changing your plan! Recife is pretty dead now but Natal is booming so many women and lots of really good ones I made the mistake of returning to check out Recife after not bieng here for many years myself but apart from the street girls all that is here are a few stuck up mulheres in boring and overpriced clubs. Good tip for accomodation in Natal. Blue Village apartments. Fantastic place 60 R$ long term R$70 short term.

I arrived at the airport of Recife at app. 3Pm and took a taxi to Park Hotel in Boa Viagem, where I had a reservation. They gave me a room in the 15th floor overlooking the Praça Boa Viagem, a very nice view. Went for a walk along the beach to find a restaurant for a late lunch but did not find a single open restaurant along the beach front. So I went back one block away from the beach where I at last found a place to eat.
After a rest in the hotel I decided to explore the scene and walked around the Praça Boa Viagem, sat down on the terrace of the Bamboo Bar. Upon entering I was astonished about the unfriendly staff, my first impression did not improve. Several garotas appeared only one would have been to my taste, however she was already with two German speaking guys. So after the 2 most expensive caipirinhas I ever had in Brazil (30R$), I left promising myself that I shall never return.
I walked over to Chakataka, where I spotted only one garota inside, so I did not even enter and decided to give the street scene a try. When I crossed the square it suddenly started to rain heavily so I rushed back to the hotel and went to bed alone.

Next day morning I took a taxi to the center of Recife, walked around taking pictures of the churches and other buildings, lost the orientation a couple of times, regained it somehow. Upon taking pictures of the facade of one of the nicer churches, MRS HAT approached me asking whether I would like to take a photo of her. She looked very typical Brazilian, not very young, not very slim, but very friendly Why not, so I took some photos of her and her daughter and aunt, who were accompanying her.
As I did not a specific plan for the day, I then joined the three ladies for the rest of the day, walking through Recife. MRS HAT was 33 years old, with 10 kg less she would have been pretty, her daughter was 14 and the aunt 40. In principle I understood her Portuguese well, but her baudrate exceeded mine by far leading to buffer overflows and consequently information losses. However I did not always ask back and most of the time did not have the impression that I missed something. When we separated late in the afternoon, I invited her for dinner later tonight, as I found her personality very appealing.
When waiting for her (she was late) I thought, that maybe the size of her handbag could be an indication for her intentions, a large handbag could contain all required gear for an overnight stay. However when she appeared, she had with her the smallest handbag I have ever seen, just enough to hold a cellphone and a purse. As it was raining heavily we rushed to a self-service restaurant nearby where we had a delicious and incredible cheap dinner (I payed 16R$ including 2 caipirinhas, what a difference to the night before where I paid double the price for the 2 caipirinhas without dinner for two).
When I ordered my second caipirinha MRS HAT started to ask me what she should do if was not any more able to return to the hotel due to excessive alcohol consumption. I took this opportunity and started to discuss the question how she could enter the hotel. It turned out that she did not have her ID card with her but only the social security card. So the question, if she would come with me was not even touched, we only focused on the operational aspects. An when when we left, it was clear that she would come with me. On the way back we bought a toothbrush at a supermarket (open 7 days a week 24hours).
At the hotel reception I checked her in, no problem with the social security card only. We spent the next three days together until I had to leave. In bed she did not have the skills of well trained garota da programa but this was more than compensated by the genuine girl friend experience. It does not make sense to go furhter into the sexual details, instead I add in the following some practical information which is maybe useful for others.

Next day we went to Olinda, a historic town closed to Recife. There is a bus running directly from Boa Viagem to Olinda. It passes the bus stop opposite to Hotel Boa Viagem and is labelled “ Piedade – Rio Doce”. The fare is only 2,5R$ and it can drop you in front of the post office of Olinda, where the proposed itinerary of Lonely Planet starts. Olinda is well worth a visit, nice old buildings and churches, a pleasant view to the ocean. The bus to return to Boa Viagem leaves opposite the post office and bears the same labelling.
The following day we went to Praia das Galinas, also by bus. It seems as if there is also a direct bus from Boa Viagem to Praia das Galinas, but not very frequently. So we took a bus to the airport (fare depends on the bus, we paid little more than 1R$) and from there, in front of the old abandoned terminal building, the bus to Praia das Galinas leaves more frequently (5,5R$). Altogether it took us app. 2 hours to get there and it was worth the pain. The beach there is much nicer than the beach of Boa Viagem and it also seems to be shark-free. We left only after sunset. The return trip was faster as we got two quick lifts. However I would not have been able to identify where we had to change the busses, it was near the airport but in the darkness it looked somehow different. The bus from there to Boa Viagem was labelled “CDU” whatever this means.
I had to leave the next day with a flight in the afternoon. In the morning we went ot the beach of Boa Viagem. A guy selling oysters sold us 12 oysters for 2R$, including salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon., what a bargain. They were not actually king-size but fresh and tasty. MRS HAT later accompanied me to the airport and I did not feel well when left her back.

I agree about Casa Odette and Sampa. There is also Scandanavia. I was in Recife in August - went to Sampa and Scandanavia but not to Odette (the taxi driiver said it was expensive). Sampa is full of GDPs after 11 PM. Before 11 PM, the hang out on the street flagging down cars or sit at a road side cafe next to Sampa. The going rate is 100-150 ST (they all start higher).
The night I went, Scandanavia sucked. It is a little out of the way. They had 5 girls (the best looking was a 7) and the guy wanted 150 for 1 hr (I talked him down from 200). When I left without taking a girl, he tried to hit me with a 20R entrada - I talked it down to 15. Did not bother checking inside - I was the only customer.

After 2 days in San Paulo, I took a domestic flight to Recife, which I was thinking of staying for 4 nights. My main trip purpose was not mongering, as tight budget and wanted to see Brazil more but I always try to combine thinghs. I arrived in Recife 13/11, took local bus to Recife fro airport, very cheap, something like 2 reais, and stay in a cheap hotel for 35 reais. On the bus this gilrls seats next to me, and I start asking question about Recife (I speak spanish, italian and it helps) and she tells me about things, at the end of the trip on the bus I jump on the taxi with her and she gives me her telephone number (could contact her anytime for anymore advice) and she drops me at the hotel where I was supposed to stay. In Recife itself there is nothing! I walked for hours, and the only think interesting was this very old church but other than that shops, like in any north american or european cities and people shopping. The night I went to Recife Antigo as I heard where the movement was, I got there, but mainly the main movement was that of 20 years old people moving from bar to bar. But I did see one beautiful and unique thing of Brazil, Capoeira, the slave excercise to keep fit and for fighting, I stayed wathchin them for at least an hour, I couldn't go, it was so fascinating, the music, the movement, the people, the respect (most of the time) between the fighetrs, I was really impressed. Other that that in Recife Antigo there was not anything else, I think it is mainly for 20 years old.
Following day I moved to Boa Viagem where there is the beach and I tought would be more entertaining. The trip is by public bus and cost approx 2 reais. Walking around in Recife I found this Pousada, for 55 reais and I booked for 1 night. I went to the beach for the rest of the day and looking for some ladies in the meantime. I think because of the low season there were not many ladies around, in fact I hardly found girls for business. I also do not look gringo as well, I am short and dark skinned, and might be hard to spot. After 1 day on the beach and 1 night walking around Recife I was really getting depressed as could not find any companionship and thinking of leaving the following day, I left the choiche for the following morning.
The following morning I decided that I would stay one more night, I wanted to find something in Recife and after an exausisting day walking day I ended up in the mercado of Recife. I soon noticed few germans with some brazilian girls in a bar in a corner and I tought myself that I will be back in the evening.
That evening I was back, and I found 2-3 bars toward 11 pm with some girls near the mercado. I sat in the bar with more girls and after half an hour I called one who seemed decent to my table and have a drink with me. After few minutes more girls started to come, and I realizied that I made a mistake, the (now) ugly lady that I called to my table was starting to occupy me talking to me and being sweeth mouthed but my eyes were to the other girls who where coming. At the end I told her that I would give her 10 reais if she left me alone as I was not prepared to go with her. She did leave me alone so I had more choiche, but at this time lots of girls were gone to a nearby bar called BAMBOO, and I was feeling tired, was near to my last drink when there was this dark skinned beauty with the tongue out looking at me. I laughed and called her to my table, she sat and started talking. She was with friend and asked if I could take friend as well, I said yes, but the friend did not come and we left her alone there. I had a passione long hour session with her, very nice, she even asked me if I wanted to do anal with her (I was over the moon, I could not beleive) which I clearly accepted, but after that she was in rush to meet the other friend. I asked where I could find her, the following day and she said her and friends usually stay during the day opposite RECIFE PALACE HOTEL on the beach.
I did go the following day but maybe was too early I did not found her there, anyway I had already decided to leave Recife for Salvador de Bahia, and that is another story.
PS: do no forget to go to Olinda if in Recife, I did not, I will regret for the rest of my life, or to Porto de Gallinhas, they are a must, bye.

Just returned from Recife and spent 5 fantastic days, and I tell you how....
I arranged for a GAROTA NACIONAL beauty to pick me up at the airport and there we go...

Just arrived from a short Tour In Recife, here go my updates on thos lovely city for mongering:
The new place to get the garotas seems to be the beach...I stayed at the Recife Palace(good to get in with the takeaway....), and every morning I had an awful amount of nice girls willing to pu us cream on....
I went to SAMPAS 3 nights and IMHO it is the best place for mongering in Brasil(sorry the Sao Paulo purists....) why?because it has the best ratio price quality of the girls around.
I did a different girl every night and they were so sweet I even took them to the beach the day after.
I went to the NEW SALAO ODETE, as she mooved a littje bit too faraway but worth the deour.

I have been living in Recife for more than 2 years and know every spot there. I also have perfect knowledge in portuguese. I will l go back there for vaccations from 29.4. - 4.5.
I will post update on scene there after my return; also if any funny matey there during this week, let me know and we can have a beer or two while checking the Garotas... ;-)
Pre-info: basically the garota-spots stay always the same in Recife. For easy pick-up, go to Bamboo-Bar or Chakatak on Praca de Boa Viagem. Sometimes the selection is not the best, but be patient, in most nights also some stunners show up. If you step out from Bamboo-bar and go left down the street cosileiro aquilar in direction to center, you can walk for about 3 miles and check up the freelancers there. Asking-price is only 30 - 50 R$ for complete service in a nearby motel. During daytime, you may sit down on any of the "barracas" on the beach-side (please do not swim there, all the dirt from Recife's desolate canalisation swims there...) enjoy your beer any look out for any garota that attracts you, smile at her and invite her for a beer, most of them will accept and 100% of those who accept will also be happy to go to your apartment/room after beach. Pro-spots at the beach-side are barracca das meninas in from of the edificio castellino (2 highest twin towers at the beach-side, and the barraca in front of Recife Palace Hotel (do not stay at this hotel, it is dirty, expensive, and NOT girl-freindly). If you get bored with Boa Viagem district, you may also check Recife Antogo district by night, especially on weekends you may find some (pro-)freelancers there. Also for the advanced mongerer you may check the shipping-malls, especially the largest: Shopping Recife. OK, that was just an short overview, there is much more action, like private parties at the house of some expats, where you pay about 300 R$ all included and you drink and ea and fuck as many ladies as you want.
Basically with some knowledge in portuguese you may find your dream-lady at any location. I met my supermodel-lady on a bus-ride back from the car-service-station to my apartment. I was really lucky to drive a Fiat in those days, if it was a Mercedes, maybe I never met her.
I am in Recife and hanging out with friends. The conversation turned to crime as today is Intenational Women's Day and there have been over 50 murders of women in and around Recife so far this year.
For 2006, Recife became the second most violent city in all of Brazil, behind only Rio. Why? Drugs and Poverty!!!!! My friends tell me that the number of really poor people is rising. They turn to selling drugs, mostly marijuana to survive. Then they kill each other over turf wars, stealing, and ripoffs.
Brazil's economy is doing well. Why are the poor getting poorer? Partly because the newer jobs require more education and skills than many poor Brazilians have, and partly because certain people don't value education and see only the easy fast money of drug dealing and prostitution. They drop out of school.
This crime is mostly in the interior of the city, in the suburbs and rural areas. In the tourist areas and downtown, and anywhere near the beaches, there is little major crime that would affect tourists.
What surprised me very much, was how similar this sounds to violent crime in the US.

I have heard the same thing from many people living in the NE.

I always use the "Navegantes Flats" in Rua do Navegantes in Boa Viagem. It is a rather upscale Apartment-building with hotel-service. You may bring whoever you want as this is "your" rented apartment.

I was in Recife from 3rd to 9th of November. I was in Recife Praia Hotel, girlfriendly at price of R$ 20,00. I was in mamboo bar, very small and with few girls, I found one, Tamaya, massage and sex in my hotel for R$ 100,00. Nice girl, 7/10. After I was in Ninfa (taxi driver told me ex-Scandinavia), entry R$ 20,00, nice place with swimming pool, few girls on Tuesday, higher level, some 8 or 9/10. I found Rebeka, J.Lo. copy, action in rooms upstairs, R$ 150,00, + R$ 20,00 for room, anal sex allowed.
On wednesday I was in Sampa, about R$ 20,00 for entry, lot of girls, smoking place, I found Rebeka (another one) R$ 200,00 in my hotel, pretty blond big bunda girl, I had a very good time.
Then I was in Casa Odette, very far from the centre, bad place with few tired girls that are moving all to Ninfa. I drunk fast a caipirinha and I went to Ninfa to meet Rebeka (J.Lo.) again.
This is my experience. Conclusion: Sampa and Ninfa reccomended, if possible stay in apartment. Bye-bye.
I am in Recife. Other trips here there have been dozens of GDPs along the streets parallel to Ave. Boa Viagem, (Ave. Cons. Aguiar).
On this trip I have seen very few. It is probably due to the holidays but I think there is more to it. I have seen more police along the streets of Boa Viagem than ever before. There seems to be a tourism promotion going on. I suspect there is a crackdown on GDPs on the street. Even outside of Sampa seem very tame.
Yesterday night I saw only 1 clear GDP. Tonight I saw 2 together at the same corner as the oe I saw last night. There used to 3 or 4 on each corner of an intersection for 25 or 30 blocks!

I am sorry to hear that. I was there in May, the Sampa garotas wanted 200 real for TLN, at least the ones I was interested in. I probably could have got the ones I did lower but I was there on vacation and didn't care about negotiating a few dollars. I met a non pro in a bar in north boa viagem, I think Biruta was the name, right on the beach. Anyway, I spent the rest of the trip with her. Chakatak was closed then. I don't know maybe it was just seasonal, maybe it is closed for good, can you tell me is it open now? Bamboo was pretty pathetic, maybe also because of the off season but I like chatting with the german guy that runs the place so it was good for a drink or two, very few garotas there. Speaking portuguese helps a lot too.
I spoke too soon about the SW situtation. I was too early and not in the right area. This past weeek-end, the SWs were in all the usual places in their usual numbers. The SW scene in Recife is alive and well.
Chatatak was open on Friday and Saturday.
This club is located in the Boa Vista section of Recife. This is a business commercial area with very few tourist attractions. Near the club are many restaurants and bars where young people hang out until 1 am or so.
This was my second time there, my first being 5 years ago. The line up was fair. There were no butt uglies but no ultra gorgeous either. It seems to cater to locals as I didn´t see any men who looked foreign. Out of 10-12 chicas who eventually showed up, only 2 or 3 caught my eye. One seemed to have a medicocre attitude and I stayed away from her, as did other men.
The two others were popular and many guys hit on them. The sexier one in my eyes was taken out by a guy as soon as she came onto the floor. I waited until they returned and spoke with her but I didn´t have enough time left to take her out. The other sexy one I just didn´t get around to speaking with her.
The fare was quoted to me as $R40 for the girl and $R15 for the room. This was ST up to an hour. I think it is an ´it ends when you pop´ deal. I don´t know if LT is available.

Wow that is troubling. Watching the news there is always scary. Bamboo is closed now because someone was killed there too. Everybody I know that lives there has been robbed at least once.

I just read an article in the NYTimes describing how Recife is the murder capital of Brazil. I have been to Recife several times but have never seen this violence.
I always stay in Boa Viagem, the tourist beach area. The vast majority of the violence is in the interior where the very poor live. There are gangs and drug dealing but those areas are poorly policed so violence is the way to settle scores. The tourist area is very well policed.
I am surprised that someone was killed in Bamboo. That place is owned by Germans, I believe, and I have rarely seen it even half full when I have passed by. That area, Praca de Boa Viagem, is not a dangerous area, even at night.
Still, it is good to know where problems can arise.

I don't know the exact details but there was a guy there apparantly talking bad about germans. The talking escalated, he was drunk and the manager hit him I think. I don't know exactly what happened but the guy died. The manager is in jail and the owner is a fugitive my friend there says. That is why it is closed. I'm sad because that was one of my favorite bars to start off the night in. Go there and have a few drinks and then head downtown or further up boa viagem. I go to Recife usually twice a year and this will be a major dissapointment to me now. Maybe I will go elsewhere. All the talk of Recife being the murder capital of Brazil is a bit unnerving.

The (very) short version of this reports is, that a 37 yrs. Old guy was found dead by, initially, unknown cause of death. By autopsy was found a broken neck beside excoriations so that this guy must have been victim of strangulation. Main suspects are the Austrian-German owner and the manager of the bar but police still not could procure evidence against any of both (and against probabely a third, unknown person).
According to police investigation the head of this guy, after bothering other guests and making trouble at ladies toilet, has been hitted on the wall.
In another forum, frequented by german expats in Brazil, some are writing that the manager is in jail while the owner refuged.
According to rumours Bamboo's owners are now the third time involved in strange incidents and focussed by police investigation during the recent years.
So a former, swiss, co-owner was murdered under still unknown circumstances a couple of years ago.
Other rumours are about a brazilian girl, who was working abroad in an (european? ) nightclub and was brutally beaten and crippeled by unknown people after she refused to go hooking at Bamboo. Since that time she is classified to be missed. Following other reports Bamboo Pousada and Bar are still open. The staff answers questions about owner and management by: "They are at company holiday, but we don't know where, when they will return. "
So, friends, enough gossip for today.
The last time I myself was in Bamboo Bar was like 2 years ago. And I refuged as well after 10 min because the scenery seemed not really inviting to me. A Wednesday night, 4-5 girls (with a 4-5/10 ranking too) mooching around so I could't find out who was more bored (the girls or me) and hitted forward to Sampa.

IMO Recife is quite an ugly city, with a dirty beach and the lowest standard of the women in the North-East. I have managed to avoid the city the last two years.
* Sampa Night Club isn't very exciting and the girls there are overpriced.
* Bamboo is a dark club. That's good because the women there looks better in the dark.
* Bar Maria Bonita is worth to check out but don't have high expectations.
* The only GP-scene I liked was the street-walkers on Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar. Some really nice GP's working there.
* Non-pro action is quite good.

I have been to Recife many times in the last few years. I usually stay at the Internacional Palace on Ave. Boa Viagem. There are two of them. The Lucsim one is more expensive, I don't stay there. Also I don't know if they allow guests. Internacional Palace farther down from Lucsim has decent views of the beach and allows guests, no charge. They just have to show id at the front desk. I must say that they do frown upon guests coming back with you at 3-4 am but they allow it and don't charge extra. There are cheaper options farther from the beach but I prefer this place. Room service is decent too.

One of the reasons I picked recife is that I actually *do* speal german, and it seems a popular destination for the deutche.
Anyway, I'm committed (have nonrefundable ticket for early feb 09) and I'm just trying to scope out the initial ropes.
Seems like there's a "tide" of reports about this place. Good reports alternate with bad.
I'm air-mobile, and I'm not afraid to drive, so if I picked a sub-prime destination I'm happy to get the advice now.
I realize the typical gringo radar is focused on Rio, but this is the way I like to roll. Find the number 3 (or 5, maybe 7) and learn a country first.
My only real doubt is REC vs. Someplace like florinopolis (did I spell that right? ). The whole southern hemisphere season and ethnicity spread thing is throwing me a bit.
Bottom line: I'd like advice about a girl-friendly hotel in the middle of the action, and a frank assessment if I should think about splitting my time (6 days or so) with another NE brazil local.
So, I'm following up on hotel options. I'd like to stick to the main drag (boa viagem area) and I'd also like to try to use some miles. This limits me somewhat as to hotels, however. It also seems like the hotels change names quite a bit (although that may just be a translation issue on google).
Anyway, here are the ones I'm looking at. If anyone knows *for sure* that the place is not girl-friendly, I'd love to hear. Also, can someone explain the whole single/double thing to me? If I book as a double does that help in the visitor department? Thanks!

You should realize that Piedade is a different city from Recife. It is located to the south of Boa Viagem. I believe there is a hotel/condo called Golden Tulip in the northern part of Piedade not far from the city limits with Recife.
I agree that the club action is not great in Recife. I got my action fom the newspapers. There are lots of ads in the 'acompanhantes' sections of the daily newspapers. It may be hit or miss as to quality, but that is where substantial p4p action can be found.

This is my first report on this board and some more might follow since I am a few more weeks in brazil.
I was in bamboo-bar and sampa nightclub, had some experience with non pro girls here in recife so far.
Bamboo bar: is a nice place to have a beer and probably talk to someone, the girls selection there was rather poor when I have been there.

I have been in Recife and leave tomorrow. I went to Ninfas to check it out but it was closed at a time they said they would be open. I had never heard of it before and thought it was a new club. From the outside it looks fairly new, freshly painted and in good repair. However, its location and surroundings were familiar. I think it is located on the same site as a prior club, that may have been called Club Scandanavia, a swingers' place.
Ninfas advertises itself as a men's club. It has a website (or two). One URL is www.ninfasnightclub.com.br, and another is www.ninfasnightclubrecife.com.br.

As promised, here is a quick review of Recife.
First, semantics. I don't suppose many tourists actually stay in Recife. Rather, we stay in Boa Viagem, which is an 8000 meter section of the beach.
My general impression is favorable, especially given my preconception.
Thanks to Sperto for the head start, which was quite helpful. I tend to disagree a little, though, regarding his assessment that the beach is dirty. In terms of human-debris, the beach is refreshingly clean. The problem they have is the sea bottom. It is more dirt than sand, resulting in narrow, gritty beaches mixed with rock outcroppings. The water is similar to the Pacific Northwest, somewhat dark and greenish in color. This does not necessarily translate to its safety, as the water is supposedly safe to swim in.
The boardwalk is wider than that in Impanema or Copa, and much easier to walk on as they discovered smooth bricks. The kiosks are plentiful and there is no danger of them changing to the annoying new style Nescafe booths now cropping up along Copa. The beers are ice cold and 2R each.
The beach mafia is not as powerful, either. Beers were only 3R from them, and there were many free chairs to be had.
We ate at two restaurants, a churascaria called Ponei, or something one night and a por-kilo place called Chinga Puntaj the next. Both were excellent. The churascaria was better than Carretau in Impanema/ Copa, and priced less. Right now, they have a weekday price of 25R. I chose the sushi-only option for the same price. We were all satisfied. The por-kilo restaurant was very good and $20R would get you as much food as you should eat. Both restaurants were within a block of the beach, one right onit, and within 2 blocks of the hippi market.
I saw no crime or hint of crime while there, but that doesn't mean anything. The people in general were quite pleasant.
While there is a strong contingent of dark girls, there were pretty girls of all color depth. As a free hangout, the beach did have a high number of unfit girls suffering from peasant diets. There were working girls on the sidewalk, many more than Impanema but not as many as Copa. Several were knock-outs.
The first night, we relied on a recommendation from the hotel, and went to a place called "Oda…" I kept the card for 2 days, but now I can't find it. It might be a really good place or it might be a clip joint, I couldn't tell for sure. It was a nice house, in fact referred to as a mansion. When we arrived around 10pm, there were no clients and around 5 girls. Entrance was 25R, and included no consumption. Though the talent was top notch, I decided for the group that we wouldn't enter (after some arguing, they gave me a preview and said that I, not anyone else, would get a free beer). Anyway, it is approximately 5 miles south of Boa Viagem, adding to the cost. There were no facilities on site, but several short-term places nearby.
We next went to Ninfas. The location was much better, only 2K from the south end of the hotel zone. This was also a converted house or apartment setup, and very nice. $20R entry got you 2 beers, subsequent beers $5R. The setup was quite unique. Most of the activity occurred in an indoor-outdoor area surrounding a large swimming pool. A stage where some of the girls performed excellent strip shows was at the far end, and there was room for 1 table down the long sides of the pool. Beyond the sitting area at other end of the pool was entrance into the disco room, where there was a nice bar, comfortable couch seating, a pole, and dancing area.
The talent here was amazing. There were some 8's and 9's to go along with the majority who were 6.5-7.5's.
I spoke to a nice local guy who advised me that the going rate was $300R. A guy in our party took an absolute knockout home for 200R + 50R exit. Then, she needed taxi money in the morning, I heard. As most of you know, I'm rather thrifty in my hobby, but have to admit that these girls were of high quality, similar to the highest priced clubs in Sao Paolo.
At around 2am, we went to the hotel, where everyone else responsibly went to bed. I couldn't let the night go without checking out Bamboo, which was only 3 blocks from my hotel. Again, I was surprised. First, it is a laid back club, with two very different aspects to it. The upstairs area features mostly outdoor seating on a deck in the front of the club. This area is relatively quiet and is populated by European tourists. The bar is owned by the quintessential German Ex-Pat. I met guys from Italy, France, Norway and Germany.
Downstairs was a dark, loud disco with a cramped bar and dance floor. There was a rowdy bunch down here, and it was a fun party. The cool observation was seeing every paired couple making out in the club. That reminded me of Bomboa in Sao Paulo.
The talent here wasn't nearly as good, but there were some viable options. I ended up dancing with a girl I would give a 6-6.5 objectively, and a 7.5 after 12 hours of drinking. She had a hard stomach, a nice smile and was fairly dark. I didn't plan to go with anyone at this stage, but her opening offer, I mean her VERY FIRST offer was 100R. How could I refuse that. How could I even negotiate?
On day 2, we discovered an interesting massage parlor called estheticrelax, www.estheticrelax.com.br. I can't remember if we're restricted from entering phone numbers here. If it ma kes it past muster, it is 3325-5644. The address is R. Petrolina 81. It was extremely clean and had nice rooms, showers, a bar, and real massage tables. When we visited mid-afternoon, there were 4 girls. One was real cute, one pretty good, and two so-so. Hours 10AM-10PM. Price is rather expensive, 150R for the hour. It is much nicer than most of the downtown parlors in Rio, and as nice as the good ones in Sao Paulo. As my little group was noncommittal, we all left.
For those who would like a legitimate, professional massage, I found a place called A Flor da Pele. Address R. Cel. Benedit Chaves 58, 2nd floor. There is a large sign when you get near it. Price is 50R for an hour. I met one of the two masseuses, and was very impressed. My plan for next time is to have a legitimate massage there, then go to 81, which is only several hundred yards away. That will be 2 hours of decadence for 200R. That is, of course, if I don't talk the first one into extra-curricular activities!
Now for some weird stuff… The hotel, Atlante Plaza (I think) is fairly nice. It is officially not girl friendly. However, the security guy will sneak you into the main elevators and escort you to your floor for a tip. He wanted 50R for his trouble. That really pissed me off. I learned this during my interim stop dropping off my wingmen on the first night. I called the extorting security guard every name I could think of. What a STUPID policy. Now, the hotel has unidentified guests in the rooms, we have no guarantee or any evidence that our girl is of legal age and not a known crook. Eventually, I told him that I would be coming back and would pay him 30R, no more. The veiled threat was that I would complain about him to the hotel management and to our corporate travel department for his activities. He agreed.
I also had difficulty with 2 late-night taxi drivers. One refused to use the meter from Bamboo, so I waited for another. The second was wacko, alternating between backing up and turning onto streets that didn't make sense. So, I got out, threw 10R on the seat and walked. My girl found me a block or two away, and walked with me to the hotel. Upon arriving, I gave her my key and told her to walk in like she owned the place. No luck, as they caught her. Eventually, we had our teary goodbyes, and I paid her 60R for her trouble.
Five hours later, at around 10:30, I received a call from the front desk saying "Carla was here to see me." I went down the elevator to find her sitting in the lobby. What a deal that was! In the day, I was able to bring her directly to the room with no problem. I was somewhat more sober and enjoyed the next hour immensely. I would only give her a so-so grade for performance, but the BBBJ was nice and better than any other plans I had for that hour. I paid her an additional 80R. She wanted to stay all day and hang out at the beach, but that didn't sound so great, so I sent her home.
Recife will not supplant Rio as a monger destination. However, there are many worse places to find yourself, and I have a feeling I will find many more interesting venues in time. I would like to hear from Sperto about the non-pro action.
BTW, Darmix, I appreciate the heads up that the legitimate girl scene is good. However, for many, that is a complimentary or supplementary activity, not a replacement. If the girl thinks I'm an idiot for giving her money for screwing her, I can live with that.

First off, let me say that the only saving grace for MIA is the fact it has a smoking area. Ok, ok so it's not THAT bad. My prior international mongering experience being primarily directed to costa rice, I will say there's quite a difference between 9 hours (connecting in salvador) and 3. 5. But 90 and humid sure beats the pants off of the zero degree weather we've been blessed with in Chicago.
Another initial observation.- relatively few people here speak english. And my half-assed spanish only seemed to mkae things worse. I'll be cramming the helpful phrases section for the next few days.
On the hole, the infrastructure here is really quite good. I don't have other places in brazil to compare it to, but my impression is that recife, at least boa viagem and el centro, are pretty clean and safe. Streetights, paved roads, real curbs.- the works. Certainly better than detroit, or the south side of chicago (and much of DC for that matter). They could use some zoning enforcement.- the sidewalks are narrow and there are too many people set up with carts and stands impeding flow.
I was also astounded to note that not once was I hit on by a beggar. My usual MO when I land in the afternoon is to drop my stuff at my hotel and then walk around to get a feel for a place. Early afternoon, I meandered from about the bamboo bar down aguilar to sampa, and then inland towards the shopping center. I didn't see any street providers until it started getting dark. I imagine the numbers grow pretty quickly after 7.
I'm staying at the atlante, like FT before me. It's a pretty nice place. I think the $R 50 thing is them tacking on a double occupany tihing. I'm pretty sure yu can do whatever you want in the daytime, If I go the TLN route, it'll proably be worth it.
A couple of points of general interest. First, my ATT blackberry works just fine.- voice, data, and web. Second, I was astounded by the lack of actual sit-down restaurant bars. Maybe they're off in a different drrection. Third, if you like decent scotch, you'd be well-served to pick up a bottle in the dutyfree. Finally, for the first time anywhere I am picking up no racial tension at all here. Plenty of moxd, but that's inevitable give the demos here.
Tonight I'm basically going to chill and recover from the flight. May hit bamboo, but nothing strenous. If anyone can give me the low-down on the oudette's/Cuba club thing, I'd be grateful. I've checked on gpguia, but can't pin down an address. I like the concept, however.

"Gather" may be a strong use of words. I saw maybe 20-30 mixed among 500+ people walking on the sidewalk or hanging out on or near the beach. Even then, I should caution that I am an optimist and find any shred of evidence enough to tag a girl as working.

First, I had no luck with any of the gpguia tricks to use from outside of Brazil. If anyone has a layman explanation for how to do it, feel free to PM.

The street is on the hotel map I was given, and I was able to walk to it from the beach without much trouble. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but nobody seemed to be threatening towards me.
It is a corner building with a red address sign on, or near, the door, nothing else. Once they let you in, which might take 1-2 minutes, a nice courtyard is revealed with some Christmas lighting. Inside the building, the first stop is a reception area where they will do a presentation. When I was there, 6-8 girls were available, all 5-7.5's, with a mean age of 23 and nobody older-looking than 25.
After the presentation, the very hot receptionist explained the price structure:

Arrived in Recife about a week and a half ago on a vacation of four weeks. Fifth time in Brazil; first time in Recife. Renting an apartment in Boa Viagem on Rua Barao de Souza Leao near the beach.
Shortly after arriving, I made my way to Sampa. It was either Saturday or Sunday night, I don't remember which. Got there about 10:00pm, but the place was totally dead. As I was leaving, I learned from the doorman that the girls generally do not start arriving until after 11:00pm.
Outside, I noticed a few girls across the street from the club on Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar. I purchased a can of beer at a nearby shop and sat down at a table on the sidewalk to observe. I decided to try Sampa again Wednesday January 2. On the way there, the cabbie asked me if I knew of Ninfas. I had not yet been. The cabbie claimed it was much better than Sampa. So I told him that I would like to check out Sampa first and that if I did not like it then he could take me to Ninfas. Arrived at Sampa shortly before 11pm. The doorman scanned me with a hand-held metal detector and then gave me a card with a bar code on it. Inside it was very dark. The club was separated into two areas by a low stage in the middle with a stripper pole. Monday January 14.
Went on gpguia (dot net) for the first time and discovered a wealth of information on casas and privês in the Recife area. It also has reports on clubs such as Sampa and Ninfas. If you can read even a little bit of Portuguese, gpguia is surely a valuable source of information. (One idiocycracy, though, is that the reports are listed oldest first instead of newest first. So you have to go to the bottom of the last page to find the latest report.) What I did was to write down a list of names, addresses and phone numbers of casas and privês in my area that had received recent reviews. I then set out to see what I could find.
The first one I came to was called Estética Graciete located in Boa Viagem on Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar 4880, second floor, Sala 2, phone number (81) 3465-6835. (The address 4880 refers to a mini shopping complex, which is something of a maze inside.) After arriving at Sala 2 at about noon and seeing the words "Estética Graciete" on the window, I pressed the buzzer and was shown inside. Two girls showed me a room with a shower and two massage tables and explained that a massage and hand job was R$40. When I asked about sex, they said it was R$100. Neither of the girls was my type, so I told them that I might come back later. Wow. I am surprised how limited the reported action here is. However, I disagree with Sperto. There are / were many interesting areas of the city and interesting things to do. Recife is a fairly large city with distinct areas (like boroughs of New York City) such as Boa Viagem, Boa Vista, and Cidade Velha (Old City). Boa Viagem is the toursit area with the beaches. Boa Vista is a commercial area with lots of stores and businesses. The Old City is where more tourist attractions are such as museums, restaurants, and a few (non-sexual) dance / entertainment clubs.
There are many VERY attractive women in Recife. Some work as prostitutes and 'advertise' (or rather display) themselves on the beach in Boa Vista. You can judge for yourself!

I saw a lot of beautiful girls lined up to enter. I didn't check it out as the crowd were too young.
* Pro's, Boa Viagem: No GP-bar left in Boa Viagem except Sampa Club. I noticed a few pro's along the orla, hardly doable. I used to like the street-walkers on Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar, where you could find gems. I was surprised there were so few SW left.

* Nightlife, Boa Viagem: Not much to offer. The Boa Viagem praca attracts lots of people in the evening. Tourists, thieves, beggers, crackudos and also a few GPS.
* Pro's, Boa Viagem: No GP-bar left in Boa Viagem. Some pro's along the orla. There are still streetwalkers on Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar, but much less that there used to be.
