I am a 23 year old from the states. I have heard mixed accounts from people with regards to dating colombianas. Is it strictly P4P or is there a chance for having a str with a colombian? I wouldn't mind a seeking type arrangement but I also don't want to be a walking ATM at the same time. Very different accounts from the blackpillers and the redpillers. I also am learning spanish.

I had 2 serious relationships in Brazil out of maybe 100 different women I have met. An 8 year relationship with a Tica, again out of many many women. 2 very serious ones in Colombia. Currently engaged to a STEM major in the Nat'l University who has never been prepago, in fact I'm not sure she even knows what that is. Jaja. The other is now a Chef in Paris.

2 absolutes are required.

You both need to speak the same language fluently, either both speak English or Spanish, better Espanole so you can interact with her family, a very important part of a serious deal.

The other is you both need to live in the same country, or at the very least she needs a 10 year visa so you can alternate visiting each other every month or so. I don't recomend trying this with a prepago, there are some successful relationships like this but very, very few. Too many built in problems with that deal. If you really want to try this, don't go to SF, or escort web sites, instead, live in Colombia, go to a language school and meet some normal women, join a gym, etc. If you fall in love with a working girl you will be falling in love by yourself. Good luck.

You'll have more difficulty regardless. Unless you put yourself in the middle of a middle class or better neighborhood and go native, most of the girls you meet will be from low income families. The good news is that those are the ones most likely to be interested in a STR with a gringo. The bad news is they expect payment.

The middle and upper class girls won't expect payment, but they are less likely to go for a 1 night stand, or a short affair.

Meet a hooker then it is P4P. If you meet a normal chick then you can have a normal relationship. How could you not want to be a walking ATM if you would not mind a seeking type arrangement? You understand the premise is the same give money-get pussy relationship as any other P4P? Show up to a seeking type relationship without money and see what you get.

What's a blackpiller and redpiller?Blue Pill = They still believe the fairytale they were told growing up and happily ever after is real. Think of the gringo who believes he has a Colombian girlfriend who stopped being a working girl to be his girlfriend as long as the gringo sends her support money every month and when he visits the 2 weeks every few months they will be together as a couple.

Red Pill = Free thinking and able to see that most of what they were told was a lie. Think of the gringo who comes to Colombia and knows the girl he's fucking has a gringo boyfriend from America, Europe, and England all sending her support money every month while she still have a local Colombian boyfriend living with her off of the gringos money and she still continues to be a working girl. I know many like this in CTG, and DR. The chicas are even so bold to have the boyfriend drop them off at your place and pick them up after you finish. So that taxi driver where she was sitting in the front seat? Think twice about it and accept the truth.

Purple Pill = When the blue pill believes in the fairytale but starts to see the truth of the wife just want to use him as a retirement plan so he rides the border accepting the truth and the lies depending on the day.

Black Pill = Nothing in life matters and there is nothing you can do to change it. Things will always be this way and there is no changing them. Think of the phrase "you can't turn a hoe into a house wife". "They will only see you as a walking ATM." "If you can't get this type of girl where your from what makes you think she cares because your a foreigner."

Red Pill Rage = My favourite! When the blue pill realizes they been living a lie and it all comes crashing down to where they are forced to accept the truth they go into deep rage of everything is a lie. Think of paternity fraud where a wife gets pregnant outside the marriage and the husband raises the child as his own not knowing it's not his. Then one day something is wrong with the child and it has a genetic disorder but it doesn't run in the husbands family or the wives family so a DNA test is done and he finds out he's been raising that child for 18 years and it's not his. Very high percentage of men out there raising kids that aren't theirs.

I also am learning spanish.I have a little over 10 years on you and been doing this traveling thing for over 10 years and I'm certain there are members on this forum that have 10,20 maybe even 30 years more than me and still going strong in the travelling game. Listen to them and take it all in to see where things are going before you get to that point.

As at LatinaLover said, the most important thing is that you must speak the same language. The chica will want to take you home and show you off to her family as you are the big catch to make her life easier. If you cannot communicate with her mom, aunts or grandmother it will be difficult as those are the ones you will have to impress and Latin culture is all about family, we are talking multiple generations under 1 roof.

You will have to move to her country, do not bring them to yours because once they realize you aren't anything special and there are better options for them because they outclass all other women around them with their natural beauty, or getting lots of attention from other men they will leave you. If you don't move there you run the risk of just being the gringo boyfriend who only sees her a few times a year and she will get lonely when all her friends are out with their boyfriends posting instagram pictures, etc causing her to get a local boyfriend. Remember in her country she's a dime a dozen, in your country she's in high demand. If you have a remote job that you can do overseas for months at a time, this may work.

Get away from paid services and talk to local girls who have normal jobs. They might still do sex work on the side once in a while when they need the new iPhone with 3 cameras, or need a new fridge, or washing machine, or big hospital bill for mom, but they do not depend on it to survive (don't ask them, and you may have to overlook it if you encounter it). If they ask you for money on the first date you know where its going.

You can fall into that small percentage that it will work but I do not know anyone personally that has made this work. The most I've seen it last was about 3 years but the back and forth travelling became too much time consuming as the years went on and either she found someone closer willing to live there or he found someone local to him.

Either way you are still very young so good luck with whatever choice you make.

But do I have to leave the country too since the new calendar year started my new 6 months stay?

Does the Colombian government allow me to leave and return in the same day (same day visa run)?Yes youn eed to leave bcos they will only 2 extension per entry. But you could stay until slmost end if Feb.

I did a same day visa run, but using different passports. I did research if you could do it on the same passport. Some folks said they did it NP. Others said you needed to eait X days, but could never provide any evidence when asked, so I think they were just repeating what others had said.

So to summarise, several confirmed they had done it, and I never found any evidence to refute it. Please let us know if you find out.

I will be returning to Bogota again in 2 weeks and it seems like the only thing going up faster than airfare is gas. I just got back from Bogota and planning another trip in 2 weeks and I swear the already over priced airfare has almost doubled from the prices last month. I never fly Spirit because they suck but their price for Atlanta to Bogota is almost as much as Delta. I can afford to pay it but I'm not happy. I hate being gouged. Plus the dollar continues to go down, from 4000 a week or so ago to in the 3700 range. So I'm wondering if these events are holding any of you guys back from making a trip.

Was using my spirit frequent flier miles, now the trip mileage to spend has almost doubled, could be because it is June and summer vacation too.

Now airfares have gone up, so I am sitting home. Yes.

Polical pundants insist this is by design by the administration to inflict pain on the energy sector. The problem is how long before we have ELECTRIC planes. Jaja. I saw a news clip of a travel expert say it can be 1 or 2 YEARS before the travel industry returns to normal. One problem is they buy the fuel 3 to 6 months ahead of delivery time. So if your in the same camp as me and believe fuel will be even more when the airlines buy for the next purchase period it just might be even more expesive, sooo looks like flights will continue to get more and more expensive: looks like the future for mongers is going to get worse and worse'er jaj.

Pique and Shakira are splitting.

"During a podcast appearance in February, Shakira said that she and her "poor husband, slash boyfriend, slash baby daddy" sometimes disagree about timeliness because of their different upbringings.

'Cause Colombian time is not the same as Catalonian time, Spanish time'.

And I get frustrated when a hooker who I have never met does not arrive on time. There is no hope. LOL.

I just checked the US Embassy website and it says that in order for me to bring my girl from Medellin to the US for a road trip with me for a few weeks that she needs a tourist visa. To get this visa she needs an interview in Bogota. The site says there is a 696 day waiting period for this interview!

Whats the trick? It can't really take 2 years for me to get her a visa so she can travel to the US with me for a couple of weeks, could it?

Who knows the scoop on how to get a girl with a Colombia passport a visa so I can fly her to the USA with me for 2-3 weeks.

I am a US citizen with a US Passport-but I live outside the USA. The plan is for her to come to where I live and then fly with me to the states for 2-3 weeks. We met on Seeking and have been hanging out quite a bit over the last 1. 5 years. We have a cool vibe together and have done small trips already, so I don't need lectures about having a girl for 2-3 weeks or traveling with a chica. I am only seeking information on how I get her a visa to visit the USA with me for a couple of weeks-hopefully not 2 years from now. LOL.

Anyone know anything about getting my girl a visa to visit the USA?

If not, it's unlikely she will get the visa even if you are able to accelerate the interview. And of course no money back on denial.

Thanks!OMG that's a far cry from what it was 3 years ago. My girl applied for her interview she got the interview in a few weeks, like 2/3 weeks, was called down for the interview. She brought her passport and grades with her from the Nat'l university and a letter from me stating I would be responsible for her welfare during her time in the USA, and that's it, no bank statements etc, NADA!

The interviewer asked her a few questions in Spanish, she answered, he then asked if he could ask her a few in English, she said sure, answered them and he stamped her papers and approved 10 year visa. He told her she would be notified in a few weeks when to come down and pick up her passport with the visa in it They notified her in less than a week to come get it and that was it. She's been coming to the USA now many times to meet me and never a problem. Not sure why the extreme difficulty now, especially when any knucklehead who can fog up a mirror can walk across the border, get free money, a phone, an apartment and food stamps. How can our country be so messed up and make it so difficult for someone trying to do it the legal way, The only thing that has changed is we had a different President back then when my girl applied. You may have to do your road trips in Canada or Mexico.

It appears next week, after Monday at 7 pm, will be a good time to use the ATM's. The exchange rate is now 3944/1 (COP/USD). If it continues to rise, hold off; but if it declines, you have the next day to get the higher rate.

My understanding is they turn down about 70% of the applicants also, they want strong ties to the community, $ in bank, house ownership etc. When I went through the process to get my visa to come to America my country turned my down twice. Once they found out I had allot of family already in America they were afraid I would leave and never come back (they were right but better opportunities, better life). Third world countries don't like to give out visas when they see residents leaving. I've have a few Colombians that were born in Colombia and immigrated to America, when they returned to visit family, even though they came in with an American Passport, it always says country of birth, once they saw Colombia, they would not let them leave the country until they had all their Colombian documents up to date and a valid Colombian passport. They were stuck there for an additional 3 weeks to get it all in order.

Similar happened to me when I went home to me country for a funeral. Came in on the foreigner line and when the saw my country of birth was there they sent me to the citizen line. Asked me all sorts of questions of why I haven't returned to the country in over 10 years? Where's my original countries passport, then tells me I need to update all my info in order to leave. Within a week I had to go register for a voting party, get a national ID for my country and by the time I left it wasn't even ready. I had to ask a family member to pick it up and give it to someone to give to me when they were coming up on vacation.

Third world countries don't play when it comes with these visa approvals especially when they see the applicant have the means and network to leave and not return. Its tough.

Third world countries don't play when it comes with these visa approvals especially when they see the applicant have the means and network to leave and not return. Its tough. The tourist visa for the US is granted by the US Embassy. If the girl already has her passport, there's no involvement with the Colombian Migration Department.

It was such a frustrating process but once we got the green light, interview and everything went good.

I was under the impression Canada was very easy to get in. I know of a few girls that elected to go to Canada if they couldn't get into the states. Is getting into Canada more difficult now?My understanding is that it is as difficult, if not more difficult, than the USA. It might depend on what country we are talking about though. Mexicans may have an easier time getting into Canada as tourists than people from other central and South American countries. But I have not researched it deeply, only a bit with respect to Costa Rica, and it is very difficult for ticas to get visas to visit Canada.

I'm sorry but you just don't know what you are talking about. Visa are issued by the destination country and the country of residence is just plain not involved.I was referring to the frustrating process I went through to get my visa to come to America. Different countries operate differently, yes the destination country is the one who approves or denies the visa but what I poorly explained was that my country prevented us from getting to that point because they didn't want allot of people to leave.

I'm from a country where if you were not a registered voter of the current political party in power then you won't get far.

So the government will prioritize those who voted for them when it comes to things such as buying land, government jobs, and providing the paperwork to submit to get the visa. My experience was back in the 90's, back then my island didn't have the abundance of free information as the world have today, all we knew was in order to get the visa we had to go to the government building in town, fill out the paperwork and hand it in. They will then process it and send it on.

Years later after a different political party gained power, come to find out the previous political party inserted themselves into the visa process and were approving or denying applications from moving forward to where they needed to go. So they would tell the applicant the application was denied but essentially they just threw it in the trash.

Again, this was my frustrating experience with it in my country with its politics and corruption.

For us ISGers, when we travel to Bog or Med, I've heard that we should use our gringo status to our advantage, so should I dress "loudly" to make it even more obvious that I'm a tourist to stir up some more interaction from the chica s? When you step into El Centro, everyone within 50 yards can tell you're a gringo, regardless of how you are dressed. The only difference the clothes make is whether they immediately think you're slightly foolish, or a complete idiot.

Is your goal to get girls to demand more money? That seems to be your approach. If they see a gringo walking around with a big "steal my shit" sign over his head, the price is going to double or triple, unless someone decides to relieve you of your sports attire and money first.

Here's how prostitution works on the street in El Centro. Girls stand around waiting for customers. A few might try to grab a customer, although usually it's just an attempt to pick his pocket. The customer approaches the prostitute and negotiations begin. Whether you're wearing Walmart jeans and a t-shirt you found at Goodwill, or a tuxedo, if you don't talk to the girls, they'll just watch you walk by, except for the pickpockets.

On the other hand, thieves tend to be more proactive when choosing clients.

Wherever you heard this shit from, they are setting you up for failure. Only the criminals care how expensive you look. But don't take my word for it, a simple YouTube search of "robed in Medellin" and you can make your own conclusions if you want to advertise you have money in a country where many do not.

Bro, out.No need to wear loud clothes for the girls. They can tell easily enough. The drawback is that if they know from the drop that you're a tourist they'll charge you more (or have more time to think about a bigger figure). Also you'll catch the attention of thieves and your every-day crazy drugged out street people (which is a hassle in of itself).

During the day I personally dress down as much as possible. Jeans, dark shoes, solid color t-shirt, unique, but cheap watch and sunglasses. At night I dress nicely in dark clothes, but not flashy and no jewelry. Scores of guys are robbed every year be / see they don't want to leave their gold necklace at home.

Remember, while Colombians are nice, you are still a walking ATM in the eyes of most!

Many others will tell you that you will be a target for looking like a tourist, but there is zero evidence to suggest that. But ironically, I am literally the opposite of the pimp guy you described; I typically am overly casual and dress very basic with zero jewelry, so I should be fine with my status quo. I think I allowed myself to be misguided by a stereotype- being a brother, oftentimes females make negative assumptions towards us unless we "portray" certain characteristics. But in hindsight, I guess correct; none of that stuff should apply since bro tourists / any tourist will be viewed as an ATM by Colombian chicas. I will provide feedback once my trip starts on the 23rd.

Medellin overall, if you know a bit of Spanish even more so. Some may say Cartagena as more people speak English, the beach, and the clubs. It depends a bit more on what you're looking for.

It didn't take long to see the results of the Colombian election. Today, the USD is up more than 100 COP. Currently, it is 4023/1 COP / USD. The relationship between the Xe.com rate and the Visa rate has changed. Visa no longer changes their rate at midnight GMT. I haven't determined when it changes, and what rate they use. Last week, I received 4016/1 from the ATM. Yet Xe.com shows the high for the past 30 days was 3980. To get an accurate rate for the ATM's, I think you will have to look at the Visa and MasterCard foreign exchange rates.
https://usa.visa.com/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html.
https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/personal/get-support/convert-currency.html

Interesting tidbit: Visa shows current rate at 3912 and MasterCard is 3905.

I learned something today. Visas for entry into the US are valid until the expiration date. Duh. Yeah, everyone already knows that. The bit that I learned is they are valid even if the passport has expired and been renewed. The person just needs to travel with both the new, current passport and the expired passport which contains the visa.

Everyone probably already knew that as well. I just found out because my girlfriend* might be coming to visit me for a few days and she recently had to renew her passport. No sense in planning the visit if her visa needs to be renewed.

I have no idea why they send back the old one when renewing but its appreciated. I like flipping through the pages of my previous 3 passports and looking at all the different shapes and colours of the stamps each country uses.

DR on arrival they use the dog tag shaped one but on departure they use the square one.

Thailand on arrival its square but on departure its triangle shape one.

Canada shaped like a postage stamp on arrival and on departure its the oval shaped one.

Colombia with the orange and purple.

My favorite is the multiple "canceled without prejudice" stamps on my US visa in my original's country passport LOL.

I just checked the Visa exchange rate for tomorrow and it will be 4,129.87 per dollar. This is one of the best rates in a very long time.

Remember the ATM (cajero) basics: don't get your cash from Bancolombia because they have a 600 mil limit and charge a sizeable fee. Better banks to use are Davienda, Colpatria or BBVA. Also never accept any conversion rate that is offered if you just decline that offered rate you will get the Visa Exchange rate which will be considerably higher.

I am in Thailand using my Schwab check card. The daily limit is automatically set at $1000. I have a couple of large purchases to make so I called to see if the limit could be raised. I was able to raise it to $4000 for tomorrow only. She said that the limit resets everyday at 3 am EST. So if you took out $1000 today you would not be able to withdraw again until 3 am the next day.

All of this however is independent of the ATM you are using. So the lady said I would probably have to run around to different banks' ATMs to withdraw the money since each bank also sets a daily limit for your card.

I found out couple of months ago, if you are flying into Colombia from Brazil, you are required to show a yellow fever vaccination card. You don't need yellow fever vac card flying into Brazil.

The Avianca clerk at Rio airport took pity on my despondent face, and she told me the "hack" flying on Avianca. Purchase a full fare, refundable ticket from Bogota to Quito, Ecuador (or anywhere else). Then she can put the 2 flights together, using Bogota as a layover. Then she doesn't need to see your vac card. Then when you are in Bogota, leave immigration. The small risk is if border agent ask to see your yellow fever vac card.

Then after you enter the baggage claim area, go and cancel your flight. It took me an hour to get my bags. Minor problem is that Avianca gave a flight voucher (good for 1 year) instead of a full refund.

Now with the form you have to fill out online that gives them all the info that they want to know such as all your personal info and where you will be staying. So now when you reach the person who stamps your passport there is no delay or questions. It is now a very speedy procedure. Why does Colombia make you fill out a form to leave the country? For one to know if you have overstayed. Many countries make you fill out a form to leave the country. Maybe you are just not thinking along those lines. When you enter you will fill a form out with 2 parts, but you keep the second part with you and turn it in when you leave. Before, people on visas to the USA would have to turn in the I94 form before they left. In many countries everything is becoming electronic with systems (airline & government) crossing each other so they are able to track it like that these days.

Hey all,

Wanted to hear some thoughts. I'm thinking about visiting Colombia later this year, my first solo vacation in south america. I'm not SPECIFICALLY going for hobbying, but ideally it would be nice to find a woman (or women) I can hang with for extended company.

I'm in my late 30's, in decent shape. My Spanish isn't great but its good enough that I can understand 80%, and I can speak enough to hold basic conversation and get the idea across for whatever I want to say. Ideal vacation for me would involve being on the water, doing ocean activities like snorkeling and booze cruising. A little bit of nightlife / clubbing / dancing. I'm not big on visiting historical sites. I don't want to be among too many tourists if possible. I know this is very open-ended, but it would be cool to do a once-in-a-lifetime activity of some sort while on vacation (for example another idea was whale-shark diving in the Yucatan before I settled on Colombia).

What's the best place in Colombia for this? Cartagena seems like the most likely option, but I'm wondering if there's a better place that's less touristy, and more unique, while not being so far out in the boonies that its going to be dangerous, stressful, no infrastructure.

Also the potential trip wouldn't be super long. Maybe only about a week. What would be the best way to go about finding some attractive arm candy for the trip to keep me company for most of the time? Is there a way to go about that at all? Seems most of the posts are about short term 1-2 hours, or at most 1 night stay. Is this even a good idea to try to do this? Might cause drama when its time for me to leave. How would I find vet them before I show up, to make sure they're not weird, or going to try to rob me?

It's easy to find a woman who will agree to do whatever you want. Finding one that isn't going to turn it into a disaster is another matter. In addition to all the drama which can ruin your trip, many women will have unreasonable expectations, or will commit to the entire time when they have no intention to stay more than 2 days.

You should check out Santa Marta or san andreas island. Thanks! Added both to my list of potentials destinations! How would you differentiate the vibe and activities between those two locations? Looks like san Andres has better ocean activities while Santa Marta is more of a small / medium sized city with more history / culture, is that correct?

How would I find vet them before I show up, to make sure they're not weird, or going to try to rob me?A very tall order. Most people in Colombia, like most everywhere, can't just drop everything they are doing and go off for a week with a total stranger. So for sure only a sex worker, and even then one that doesn't have much of a life. And if you are looking for arm candy that would weed out many of those. But there are chicas waiting for just such a chance. Someone they can get close to and then drug and call their accomplices in to rob, and if you are lucky, to leave you unconscious.

Anyway. Once you live in a place for a while, get to know people, you may find a girlfriend of some sort that would vacation with you. But to expect to just come in and find someone that is "arm candy" to hang out with you and travel around is, I think, unrealistic, and possibly risky.

These gals have a dangerous occupation. Not many are going to go off with someone they don't know without their own protection. We can look at it from our point of view, of danger to us. But the danger is far greater for them, going off with someone they don't know for who knows what sort of kinky stuff. So again, I would be very suspicious of any takers on your plan.

Best visit places you want to see and hook up locally in places where everyone feels safe. Ie a hotel that will copy or hold the gal's cedula while you are in the room with her. Then everyone knows there is some public record there of who saw who when, which means that no one is likely to go criminal in some way.

I know in the dr they have agencies that will let you hire a girl to give you tours and sleep with you. Don't mind paying the money honestly.

Another question if you guys don't mind. Are there times I should or shouldn't visit? Seems most places say try to visit Jan. / Feb. Or late summer for most places in Colombia, for weather reasons. Is that correct?

I saw a post somewhere that during elections, everything closes early and they don't serve alcohol or something. I assume there won't be another election for a while again (not annual I hope?) but any other random things like that I have to avoid?

How would I find vet them before I show up, to make sure they're not weird, or going to try to rob me?One of my best mongering experiences ever was taking a beautiful 22 year old Paisa I met at the Mansion on a 2 day trip to visit Hacienda Napoles. Had I known how good it would be I would have made it a 7 day trip. We had not had sex before the trip. She was "occupied" with another Gringo staying at the Mansion. But I had gotten to know her hanging out and knew she wanted to see Napoles. I asked if she'd like to go once he returned to the US and she said absolutely. (I don't think he was thrilled, but she was not his wife). We had a great time (including sex) and when we got back I asked her what the appropriate payment was. She said she felt like she should pay me. I still gave her something like 600,000 COP. She later took me to her family home and I knew she needed it. I was in my forties at the time.

It can be done. They aren't all mercenaries. But you need to get to know them a bit first. Don't think you can pick a girl off the street corner and go away for a week. Mansion is a good place to try. (I am not a shill, Mansion's wrong for the budget punter who just wants as many SWs as possible.).

It can be cold by Colombian standards, I don't mind the temperature. In general Central and S. America clears up in December and continues that way until March / April. Remember predicting the weather is dicy at best. We had a destination wedding for one of my daughters in Saint Lucia, was in the dry season, well so much for the dry season, it rained cats and dogs for 3 of the 4 days we were there, you pays for money and you take your chances.

Also I would advise to avoid Christmas time and Semana Santa. Election time and one day Holidays wouldn't have more than a day or so effect. Take the plunge, enjoy and be safe.

I have never been asked when arriving from Asian countries or north america.I was recently in Singapore, prior to taking my trip, I checked Singapore's embassy website for travel requirements. In the case of yellow fever vaccination, it was required only if one visited a set of countries, in the last 30 days. I was not affected so I did not read further but the countries were listed in their website. I suggest you do the same, check both the destination country and the US websites. They will most likely have the answer to your question.

The attestation form I filled out was back in August last year, then in November they didn't give me one, only Check MIG, also was there in March and it was only the Check MIG, no attestation form. This was on JetBlue. If it's not those forms, then disregard this post.

I have mongered a good bit in Southeast Asia (mainly Thailand and Indonesia), but I have never been to Colombia. Does anybody here know both SE Asia and Colombia and could you compare them? I am especially interested in the following:

- Access to petite / short girls / spinners (very good in SE Asia, I expect Colombians are generally taller).

- Soft pubic hair (many SE Asian girls have very soft / sparse pubic hair, I expect Colombians have coarser public hair, more like Southern Europeans).

- Safety (very good in SE Asia, seems not so good in Colombia).

- Prices (have risen a good bit in Thailand, may be beginning to rise in Indonesia. Colombia seems pretty cheap for the time being judging from posts on the forum).

Contrasts / comparisons on other aspects also welcome.

Thanks.

- Prices (have risen a good bit in Thailand,Colombia is not Southeast Asia so do not go there looking for it. If you want Southeast Asia then go to Southeast Asia. The only prices that have risen in Thailand is for gasoline. It costs me twice as much to fill up my motorbike than it did last year and before. Condo rental prices have actually fallen. My monthly apartment rent has been the same $120 for the last 14 years. I am still paying taxis $30 from the airport to my place an hour and a half away in Pattaya. I am still giving chicks the same $30 for all night that I have always given them. If you want to go through a middleman such as a bar to get chicks, then maybe there is an increase in price. But there is no reason to get chicks that way. Hell you can even go there to meet them and have them come over after work for a more normal price. Go experience Colombia for Colombia but do not expect it to find Southeast Asia (where even different countries and even cities within the same countries are different.).

Thanks. From my experiences, I do visit both areas quite frequently, and my 2 cents opinion:

I think Latin chicas are slightly more attractive and nicer curves, fuller tits and asses to caress than SE Asians. But don't get me wrong, I see a lot of pretty faces in SE Asia too! I would say communication enhances having a good time. Meaning I prefer hobbying in the PI, as Pinays also speak English.

As I am fluent in Espanol, I prefer to chase chicas in Medellin due to its share availability and low costs. Yes, more bang for the buck! Also in Colombia, you will find many hungry chicas from Venezuela plying the market. But yes, do give MDE a ride.

How's the general vibe in the streets re crime, riots, civil unrest, etc.? Last time I was there was when the Venezuelan chics were pouring in when everything was turning to shit and they were buying whatever they could to bring back home.

I see Woodman is still hanging and banging which is a good sign lolol. Wonder if he still remembers Coolio?

And color me stupid but someone please explain to me the currency exchange again? I keep seeing 40/50 mil thrown around and I'm thinking mil as in millions of pesos but when I go to the currency calculator there's no way that can be right.

- Soft pubic hair (many SE Asian girls have very soft / sparse pubic hair, I expect Colombians have coarser public hair, more like Southern Europeans)..1- Access to petite short women in Latin America is a good recipe to get set up for an underage trap and extorted for money. Most Latin women are not built like Asians. If you are looking for Petite, get a verified contact from a board member, as a first timer I would advise against going to look for it in the street, especially Medellin.

2- I have never encountered a chica with pubic hair in Colombia. DR yes, Colombia, no.

3- Depending on where you go you will get taken advantage of. Higher chance in Medellin and now its an uptick in Cartagena. But this is where the problem is, in Asia chances are you will encounter a girl who speaks English, not so much in Colombia, it will be mainly Spanish and if you do not speak Spanish and have to rely on the translate app on your phone you will be advertising goods to be robbed depending on where you are, for example Medellin. No one will attack you in public, it will be mostly something missing from your room or robbed at gunpoint if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Stay in the tourist zones!

4- Colombia is not exactly cheaper. It varies. Type of girl such as Venezuelan vs Colombian (many cannot tell the difference). Variables that come into play: Are they legally in the country? How old are they? Are you in Medellin, Cartagena, Cali, Santa Martha, Barranquilla? Are you going to Casas? Getting them from the street? Or getting them from the clubs? All this plays into the price and the further away from the tourist area the cheaper the price but also the higher the danger if you are a new face and do not speak the language.

If its your first time I would suggest to link up with someone whos a vet where they can show you what's what and you don't end up like that other board member Dublin12 who went to Colombia with a SEA mindset and got a rude awakening despite the multiple warnings multiple board members gave him that Latin America mongering is a whole different level than SEA.

Safe travels and happy mongering.

I have always been afraid of the language barrier and not come to the Spanish countries, while drooling over Latin women on dating sites. If you really need petite, then stay in Asia. I have always said Filipinas are built like boy scouts. Some guys like the slim body, and more power to you. Me, I prefer the big tits, and round ass of a WOMAN! I finally came to Colombia, forced to by COVID, and not looked back. I have yet to be scoped by these Colombian women, and you will never have to deal with any Asian chic putting shit in your drink. Asian women are by nature, very sweet, which I love, but very sneaky bitches you can't trust. My Thia GF made her husband get her huge dee cup boobs, which I enjoyed after they broke up. Visually my preference is the full figured Latina. I'm smashing a 5'8 Negra, with her own dee cups at the moment.

The currency thing was confusing to me as well when I first started learning the pesos LOL. Long story short "mil" means thousand in Spanish. So "40/50 mil" will translate to 40/50 thousand but keep in mind 1 US dollar at a 4. 4 exchange rate will be around 4. 4 thousand pesos or 4. 4 mil. So 40/50 mil is only about 9 to 10 dollars. Is the app you are using the Xe Currency converter app? It worked great for me in Thailand, DR, and Colombia to understand what I'm paying in relation to what I would be paying back home for the same service / item / etc.

Thanks.1. The typical girl I'm with in Medellin is 5'3" or less and under 95#.

2. I've only found 1 girl with pubic hair in Colombia. It wasn't especially coarse.

3. I've had no real issues with safety, except when trying to cross a busy street.

4. Prices are what you want to pay. If you want to pay $10 or less for sex, or $100 or more, you can find someone to take your money.

I can't compare any of that to SEA. If you're looking for the experience you enjoy in SEA, you need to go to SEA. If you go to Colombia and compare it to SEA you'll be disappointed. Not because it's worse, but because it's not SEA.

Then walk outside and tell me what you see. Nothing like media told you it is. Like when they cover protests and it is only 4 people out there protesting but they make it seem like there are hundreds. Like if Black people go outside they are going to get killed by the police. Like the whole world is dying of Covid.

My dad came to my house this morning talking about his throat was hurting and he thinks he may have Covid. So I whipped out a test and wouldn't you know it. The man knows his stuff. Gets shingles from the shots and now gets Covid any damn way. Meanwhile one of his 2 unvaccinated son's test is as negative as always so he headed for Colombia. Media promised us we would die without the shots. Glad I don't pay attention to youtube.

This is a very general question. I have never travelled overseas on a sex tour, but I've lived overseas and had sex in strange places like Kazakhstan. It seems like it will take me about 16 hours to fly from (my local airport) to Medellin at a cost of around $1,000, round trip. That seems reasonable. I'd prefer to be on the coast where I can do some (possibly nude) sunbathing. Any recommendations?

Is it safe to travel there when I have a USA passport? My company owns a manufacturing facility in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and the last time I went there, they to me took their manufacturing facility in an armored vehicle. It was kind of like when I worked for the Feds when, after the Iraq War ended and I spent some time in the Green Zone to help clean up some oil spills. The US Army met me on the tarmac, rushed me into an armored personnel carrier, and the next thing I knew, I was in Saddam Hussein's palace, now called "The Green Zone. ".

I never knew that my company, as small as it is, owned a small army armored personnel carriers. Wow.

".I never knew that my company, as small as it is, owned a small army armored personnel carriers. Wow.Speaking as a person that worked in Iraq I doubt if your company "owned" the vehicle. There are very many up armoured vehicles there with 360 degree video, bullet and bomb proof, radios that talk to anyone in the world, but I digress. I say go and have a blast in Colombia. I really don't understand how people can live in Mexico without their own Army. I lived in San Diego for years and crossed into Tijuana and knew right away I can't do this country very long. WTF! Kaza who! What was that like? Oh, and post in the KAZA section!

Gents who like to drink whiskey / vodka after every session, do you buy it in the city or buy a big stash from duty free when you arrive in Bogota? I love myself a good single malt whisky or a high end vodka after a session and I wonder if I should just get like 4 bottles for me from the duty free when I arrive in Bogota instead of buying it in the city.If you know your Favorite whiskey / vodka can't be found in Bogota then Yes you should either pack bottle (s) in checked bag or buy Duty Free (if available). However, if you know specific liquor/grocery store in Bogota (https://www.google.com/search?q=where+to+purchase+liquor+in+bogota+colombia) carry your drink then purchase there if price is right.

Hey guys,

I've never traveled to Bogota or Medellin. If traveling there solo is it recommended to get a guide or how can you get information while there? My Spanish is decent but not great. Thanks.Spanish decent but not great. Doesn't tell me much. But unless you are talking about something specific your question is unanswerable. Guide for what? I suppose if you were going through a travel company perhaps there are guides available for various tourist destinations. Don't know.

Is it safe to travel there when I have a USA passport?Cartagena is the only beach city with a generous supply of P4P women in Colombia. I don't think you will find any nude beaches there. You may want to look into traveling to St. Maarten. There are some P4P women there from various parts of the world, and the French side (St. Martin) has nude beaches.

It is safe to travel in Colombia, and the people are very nice. Use the same precautions you would in any major city in the US.

After RTFF I can't see any major differences with going to Bogota or Medellin to pick up girls. Yet the Medellin forum here is much more active. Why?

Cartagena seem to have the drawback of higher (tourist) prices but maybe the benefit of a fun tourist-destination. Right?

Chicas are basically the same in Bogota / Medellin / Cartagena right? Any differences when it comes to safety?

You probably haven't researched Colombia enough to know any differences within the culture and the women. In your mind it's all the same when it actually isn't.

Foreigners search for and add the hookers to their friends list before they arrive, then when they get there they call the girl to come over for a session and / or to hangout for no less than 150,000 pesos. In Bogota the facebook hooker deal is not a thing.

Chicas are basically the same in Bogota / Medellin / Cartagena right? Any differences when it comes to safety? The MDE forum is more active because it's an easier city to access. It has a very pleasant climate (average high about 80 vs Bogota 65). It's not as high altitude as Bogota so most visitors don't need time to adjust as many do with Bogota. It's also not nearly as big as Bogota so it's easier to figure things out.

IMO there's little difference in chica looks between the two cities. But I have limited experience in Bogota so maybe I'm judging from a small sample size. There's certainly more chicas in Bogota as it's a much bigger city.

I also think the Mansion had a lot to do with MDE taking off as a monger destination. It's an easy comfortable place for a new monger to stay, so a lot of guys starting coming here and things just took off.

Cartagena is definitely a worthwhile place to visit as it has some excellent tourist things to do. The chica action is generally a bit more expensive on average than Bogota or Medellin. But still pretty reasonable.

Is a layover 1 H 40 m in Fort Lauderdale enough for passport control and for taking the connection?

Medellin to FLL to Denver with Spirit.

My other option has layover for 6 h 41 m, not nice, but no risk to miss the connection.

Thank you.I definitely don't want to spend 6 hours in FLL. If the flight leaving MDE is on time, you should be okay with 1 hour 40 min. The problem you can run into is going back through check-in after going through immigration and customs. Sometimes that line extends out onto the sidewalk for a ways. It has been many years since I went through FLL. The times I went through there, getting your bags, then re-checking them was very slow.

It has been many years since I went through FLL. The times I went through there, getting your bags, then re-checking them was very slow.Been through FLL many times but not for the last year or so. Lots of construction going on but it has been one of my least favorite connections. The passport control area is archaic if it hasn't been updated yet, with lots of foreigners passing through. A bit of a walk, with your checked baggage in tow to get to connecting flights. As was mentioned, you need to go up the escalator and pass through TSA again to get to your gate. My girl returned to Colombia twice in the last 3 months nd both trips were a night mare. What should have been a 7 hour trip back to El Dorado from the east coast took almost 48 hours both times, with a closure of DFW for a 1 hour storm, refueling in bum fuck west Texas airport, only to miss her connecting flight back to Bogota, had to sleep overnight in DFW and then a new connection to Mia and finally an evening flight to Bogota, arrive at 1 AM the third day. And this was just on the last trip 3 weeks ago, the one before that was another similar disaster. There is so much disarray in air travel nowadays you can't count on anything. Also the time of day is important, if it's not a first flight for the day it gets very dicy. Afternoon thunder storms are frequent in S Florida so more possibilities to get fucked over. Under the current situation in air travel I would opt for the safer long layover. You want to talk about long. , try the line at the help desk trying to get rebooked on a missed or cancelled flight. I'm going back to Bogota next month and I will choose driving a long to the airport and paying double for a direct flight to Colombia to avoid all the shit. Good Luck.

Spirit is expensive on bags: Carry-On=$46.20 Checked bag=$40.95. The checked bag is only for 40 lb instead of 50. I guess they hope on travelers error to charge the extra at the airport. The one-way went up to $330, bought directly on their site.

I use Skyscanner for searching, are you aware of any better search engine?

It is not better than skyscanner as a search engine but it allows you to find different fares more easily. It also lets you more easily pick two one way fares more easily than skyscanner does.

As for your layover, Miami has a really nice Amex Centurion club, but you need an Amex Platinum to get in, and it is a $695 annual fee, but here is the thing. You can get 4 cards for $865 so you can get them for a little over $200 if you have people you can trust with a credit card.

The food at these clubs is great. They have a full bar, and time flies when you are there. $695 seems like a lot but when you add up all the perks it is quite the value: https://www.cnbc.com/select/is-the-amex-platinum-worth-it/.

The real kicker though is the points offer up front. https://upgradedpoints.com/credit-cards/reviews/american-express-platinum-card/100k-offer/.

So if you use the card and get the points, that will pay for anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks of a free stay at a nice hotel in Colombia. In essence, you are paying nothing for the card the first year.

Unfortunately, FLL does not have a centurion club like Miami.

Amex allows you a credit on baggage fees, but Spirit, Avianca, and Viva are not a part of their network, so you are stuck with those fees even if you use Amex. I have gotten around baggage fees by using a United credit card for United flights and having gold status with American in addition to having the Amex card. Thing is that even with the baggage fees Spirit and Viva are often way cheaper. Avianca seems just as expensive as the American airlines.

If you can get the global entry, do it. With the included TSA precheck and global entry, I get through security at most airports in less than 5 minutes and through American customs in less than 2.

If you travel more than 3 times a year, these perks are well worth it. They seem expensive until you are in a crowded airport for hours at a time.

https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/preregistro.jsf

When you access the site after selecting language and mean of transport the disclaimer pops up letting users know it can be done 72 hours before departure and up to 1 hour before the trip closes.

I usually travel with my laptop and it makes it much easier than doing it on a phone and I normally fill it out the night before the flight before going out to party as I'm usually too messed up to want to do anything in the morning. So the more I do the night before while I'm sober the less I have to worry about I may have forgotten in the morning of when I'm hung over LOL.

I would suggest filling it out 48 hours before your departure date as it gives you one less thing to worry about on departure date.

I've seen many battle this hurdle at the airport in CTG after they pass the passport control and going to the Immigration Officer only to be sent back out to complete it and they are scrambling to try completing it on their phone or don't understand what they are supposed to do.

The drop-down box lists three dates, which includes the day you access it. It would be more accurate to say two calendar days before the day of your flight. Spent 82 days already this year in Colombia and going back to Bogota next month to use all my 180 days for the tourist visa.

I have done this exact thing the past three years, and extended my visa online through the Colombian immigration website (prerroga de permancia) from 90 to 180 days with zero problems.

I have submitted the extension paperwork three times this past month, hoping it was just a disgruntled employee rejecting me, and each time received a "rechazo" (rejection) response from them with no other explanation.

Pretty annoying.

I even included my return ticket back to the states, along with my passport bio and entry / exit stamp from earlier this year in the documentation.

I'm going to have to go in person to the immigration office when I land for the visa extension, I hope to god they extend it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks for your time as always.

I have no idea TBH.Maybe it's me that is confused, but in a calendar year you can stay a total of 180 days, up to 90 days at a time. Without any paperwork. If that is true, we are talking about an 8 day difference if you are truly trying to use the rest of your time this year. So if that's true, either leave the country for a day to reset the clock, or cut your trip short 8 days to avoid the issue.

Curious about your situation though since it would apply to me too. I really hope you are wrong though.

If you want to stay the full 180 days on the tourist visa, you have to file the 90 day extension on the Colombian immigration website in the "prorroga de permanencia" section and pay the 99 k cop fee.

Just google "Colombia tourist visa extension" , there's a lot of websites that show the step by step process.

I've done this the past three years, staying 80 or so days in the spring / summer, filing an extension online, and heading back to complete the 180 days in the fall. This time they're just denying the online extension with no explanation.

But yea, thanks for the tip funlovr, It looks like I'll only have like 5-6 days left when I land, so I'll be heading straight to the immigration office when it opens in the morning to file the extension in person. Fingers crossed.

That might be what I have to do tomorrow. Hopefully my Colombian friend can come since I don't speak Spanish.

Um so you want to keep going to this country for six months at a time but you can't be bothered to learn their language? Wow.I am taking lessons and learning. But very doubtful I could navigate a government office with what I know in Spanish. Knowing vocabulary and some basic phrases does not mean I know Spanish. This is my third time back this year that is pushing me over the 90 days and language is hard for me. Not that I really need to explain anything to you. And even if I wasn't, I don't judge other people that come to the US that don't speak English.

Also, not that anyone should take my advice, but after reading many websites and having my friend call immigration the verdict is........ As of a 2020 law / regulation

That I don't need to do the online renewal since I left before 90 days and reentered the country. My new stamp in my passport says 90 days, and I will be using less. Presumably if I came back in and only had 3 weeks left, my stamp would say 21 days. After googling the phrases, the language used seemed to say the additional paperwork was needed if you wanted to stay consecutively for more than 90 days up to the 180.

So I still might be wrong but it makes sense to me. I am curious what immigration tells you.

JohnnyWalker55's post is a little misleading. It would be more clear if he stated "You can only stay up to 90 consecutive days in a calendar year on a tourist visa (without the extension)."

Hey guys,

Looking for some advice on sites to use. I have tried out latinAmericaCupid and Tinder. The price structure is quite high LAC and you can't respond to emails unless you have upgraded your membership. The problem there is most of the women also have basic profiles so you really can't communicate. I've also looked at Tinder without much success. Let me know if there are any sites anyone recommends to meet and chat with Colombian women. Thanks in advance.

You are correct.

JohnnyWalker55's post is a little misleading. It would be more clear if he stated "You can only stay up to 90 consecutive days in a calendar year on a tourist visa (without the extension)."So apparently some law changed? Or it's always been this way?

I've always had to pay the 99 k cop fee online to get a 90 day visa extension on the tourist visa, as I was under the impression you could only stay 90 days on a tourist visa without an extension.

But when I got to the airport they marked a "90" on my passport, meaning I have another 90 days here, having already spent 84 in the spring.

They said I get 180 total days per calendar year, and the 90 *consecutive* days restart when you leave the county. The extension is only if you want more than 180 total days in a calendar year.

So, for future reference to anyone reading this, you get 180 total days a year in Colombia as a tourist, but cannot stay more than 90 consecutive days.

The consecutive day counter restarts when you leave the country, and the 180 days restart on Jan. 1st every year.

All that headache for nothing! LOL.

First, without an extension you can only stay in the country for 90 days. But, if you get the extension while within the country you can stay up to 180 days total.

If you come into the country, stay less than or up to 90 days, and then leave, you can then re-enter and stay up to another 90 days. You don't have to do anything in particular to do this.

The extension only applies in situation 1. And without some other type of visa you cannot get an extension to stay more than 180 days.

I'm also being told that if you stay for instance, 65 days, and then you leave. An immigration guy said that counter picks up where it left off when you left, and you only have 25 days before you need to submit an extension, not another 90 days.

An immigration guy said that counter picks up where it left off when you left, and you only have 25 days before you need to submit an extension, not another 90 days. That is not true. The maximum allowed stay is 90 days for EACH entry. When you leave the country, you get an exit stamp and must complete CheckMig. And when you re-enter, you get a new dated visa stamp. On the lower right corner of the visa stamp, the immigration officer hand writes the number of days it is good for. All my stamps have written "90" although I have never entered the country within 90 days of being issued a previous entry visa. Foreigners are limited to 180 total days in a calendar year. But no where is it written that you must stay out for a minimum of 90 consecutive days after your previous entry stamp date. For the sake of simplicity, let's say each month is 30 days, instead of 31 or 28. Suppose you enter on Jan 1, then you must leave by March 30. Suppose you exit March 28. And you re-enter March 29. Then is your new visa stamp only good for 1 day? Doesn't seem to me any government would issue 1 day visas since the risk of overstay would be extraordinarily high. Suppose the same scenario, you enter Jan 1 and exit March 28. And re-enter April 1. Then you get a fresh 90 day visa because your new entry date is outside the 90 days of your previous visa. It is illogical. Every time you legally exit the country, your 90 day allowance resets, with the exception being if you have already stayed 91 days for more in that calendar year. For example, if you've already stayed 100 days, then your new visa would be good for 80 days, not 90.

Not that anything government related has to make sense, but it truley is the only thing that makes sense and is manageable. The government wants our tourist dollars and I seriously doubt many people claim the tax rebate.

There's a small chance I am coming back with only like 25 days left before year end. I'll report back if I do and a smaller number is written on my passport. I'm also leaving in October and will report back if anyone says anything.

I recently took a trip to Medellin and stayed in the Poblado area. I can walk for hours where I live with no problems but there are zero hills where I am. Walking in Poblado is completely different. I'm in my early fifties and am of average height and about average BMI. Hill walking is much much harder than flat walking. If you're not used to it, I recommend hitting the treadmill at an incline to maybe make it easier. That's what I'm going to do next trip.

Good luck!Update on Colombian dating sites. The sites mentioned are escort sites above which could be useful. I've tried these 2 sites and more information:

https://www.latinamericancupid.com - interesting site and lot of attractive women to browse. I figured out a way to email with a Brazilian girl but turned out to be a scam attempt. I get lots of messages, but you and they cannot read responses with a standard account. I get a lot of messages from women who also have standard accounts so it's near impossible to communicate. So even if you do get a premium account you can't communicate with standard users. It is entertaining but overall kind of pointless.

https://la-date.com - you get some free message and communication but quickly free credits run out. The messages I get are obviously either fake or generated by profiles that the site creates. It appears they create their own fake profiles and just have staff that send you messages. I get crazy messages like I want to come fly to see you.

It seems like there has to be some way to meet real Colombian women online for free (non-escorts) but wading through all the fake profiles is tough. I try to go through both sites and look for non-professional type photos but even those I think are fake.

Ok so after one week of LatinamericCupid, my inbox is filled. I would say 30-40% look like fake profiles and I got a few from Brazil that gave me their email and obvious fake after I gave them my burner email. Lot of fake profiles from Brazil. Maybe 25% Colombian messages I get are the homely a bit overweight type, but cute. They seem to be looking for the lottery out of Colombia to the US and really want an American husband. They are sweet but seem very desperate. Ok, to chat with but not what I'm looking for when I visit. I found a few cute 40 ish type girls that seem real and are hot. The chats are brief and cutesy. The other thing I am seeing are a ton of Dominican women sending me messages; some AA. I really don't have any desire at this point to visit DR but maybe in the future. The site is a bit overwhelming w / so many women emailing and having to filter through fake profiles. The girls that really want to chat again are the homely type. Nice to chat with but I can only imagine the cling-on situation if I visited. The site takes some time investment but it is fun.

Most casas have a 30 to 60 minute time limit. If your friend could restrain from spitting for that time it would greatly help him, this could be a problem anywhere in the world. A suggestion would be to take in some cotton in the mouth to absorb the saliva for a quick casa session and just not saying anything to the girl. Good luck.

I don't remember exactly what the XE was when I first went to Colombia but I think it was around 1500/1600 to USD. At that time I was mongering mostly with prepagos and paying something like 200,000 more or less for top talent in Tourist Traps like Lylos etc and was around $125 at the old XE.

Now even if a girl wants 300,00 it's around $66 usd. At the current XE no matter how you shake it, it's good for us.

Wonder what's in store for the dollar? Everything I read is a negative outlook for the dollar and if that will impact the COP / USD situation. I may be living in Colombia next year so trying to decide on a future budget for Colombia is dicy at best. I'd be interested in what any of our Wharton grad. Members have to say on the subject.

Some months ago there was a discussion about various lubricants, and Vaseline was mentioned. Long ago I was told petroleum jelly as a lubricant posed a health risk for women. Whether or not that's correct I don't know. Don't care. There are better lubricants when the natural one isn't enough and it's simple enough to be prepared.

One thing that was mentioned was the effect of petroleum jelly on condoms. That's the issue which might matter more.

Right now I have some skin healing on one of my fingers and to help protect the new skin I'm using finger cots. Finger cots are heavy duty, finger sized condoms. I'm also using Vaseline to keep the skin moist and pliable. Within a few minutes of the latex coming into contact with the petroleum jelly it loses much of its elasticity and changes its texture.

With the ultra thin condoms which are available I'm certain breakage would be much more common.

I've been traveling to MDE nearly every month for the last year. Inbound to MDE I've had to show the Check-Mig form 0% of the time to the airline and about 20% of the time to immigration. Outbound from MDE, I've had to show it 100% when going through immigration and 0% of the time to the airline. Could be the low incident of showing it inbound is because I have it in my hand when I hand over my passport and the officer doesn't bother because they see I have it. In January I'll be arriving in Colombia a few days before the catholic holiday of epiphany. How is this holiday celebrated in big cities like Bogota? Is it a quiet family event or are there street parties? I've read conflicting information on line.

Will the majority of shops and restaurants be closed during epiphany? How about the SF scene? Will things be calmer or will it be business as usual? A quick google search indicates that epiphany is celebrated widely throughout Colombia on January 6th. Apparently there is another national holiday related to epiphany celebrated on January 10th as well. Does this mean 2 days of potential low monger activity? Can someone in the know please clue me in?

You only need to FILL IT OUT! When they scan your passport, they know everything about you. The check-mig included when you arrive in Colombia. However, some agents at check in, in the usa may ask for it. Possible to cover their ass and not being fully informed of the current process. Colombia will always send you an email confirming you filled out the form, so just pull it up on your email and show it at check in for your flight. Relax and enjoy your trip.

The check-mig included when you arrive in Colombia. However, some agents at check in, in the usa may ask for it. Possible to cover their ass and not being fully informed of the current process. Colombia will always send you an email confirming you filled out the form, so just pull it up on your email and show it at check in for your flight. Relax and enjoy your trip.I just filled out the form and so far have not gotten a response on my E- Mail.

I printed out the form so I hope that will be ok. I have always in the past have gotten a quick response to my E- Mail.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Can someone in the know please clue me in?I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's basically a church Holiday some people go to church in the morning and then go about their day, The bars will be open, malls etc. You would be surprised how many of the chicks in Bogota know it's a holiday but don't even know why jaja.

When I checked in with Spirit they wanted to see the Mig form.In September I went with JetBlue and they did not let me bag drop unless I showed them the Check Mig form. They also did not allow me to complete the check in online unless I uploaded my covid card or a negative test to their TrustAssure website.

The flight was messed up, so I missed my connecting flight and had to take American Airlines for the second leg of the trip. American Airlines would not let me bag drop without showing them the CheckMig, covid card, or negative test.

Upon arrival in Medellin they didn't ask for anything but the passport. Departing from Cartegena back to the US JetBlue did not allow me to bag drop unless I showed them the Check Mig, Migration didn't ask for anything but the passport and this is where many that only came with a carry on was unaware and had to step off the line and fill it out.

Ask Paul Nguyen which he he prefers. You have a trick for talking to the dead, or are you just disrespecting the deceased for your own purpose?

Circumstances seem to suggest he preferred Colombia at the time of his death. Had he survived, would he have changed his opinion? Maybe. Maybe not. There are many guys who have survived robberies who are still returning to Medellin.

That doesn't mean you, or anyone else needs to prefer Medellin. Love or hate it, it's up to you. However, make your own case, instead of using a guy who died tragically as your puppet. That's just sick.

"Nicolas Vincent Flattes is the latest foreigner found dead in the vicinity of Aburra Valley. His death is of major concern to Colombian authorities as 27 deaths of foreign tourists have already been reported in the Aburrá Valley this year.

The Aburra Valley Metropolitan Police said 25 of them were found in Medellin. A man identified as Leon Victor Dean, 59, of the United Kingdom, was found dead in his hotel room in the neighborhood of El Poblado in Medellin on January 5. He was discovered dead in the jacuzzi of his room.

In February, a 48-year-old Canadian man was also found dead inside a hotel in the Laureles neighborhood in Medellin. There have also been a high number of crimes directed at tourists, with the police, prosecutor's office, and Medellin Mayor's office all working together to bring down criminals targeting them.

These criminals reportedly use apps such as Tinder to target foreign victims and rob them. The Aburra Valley Metropolitan Police recently captured five of these criminals as they tried to rob foreign tourists. They arrested three women and two men, all of whom were reportedly part of a gang dedicated to extorting foreigners".

Anyone with any experience in this hobby knows to be aware of girls working with their boyfriends setting up Mongers for robbery and often leading to death. Tinder but not only Tinder, being a common site used to rob and kill tourists. Life is very cheap in Colombia. Anyone with the right connection can get someone dumped for a few hundred thousand pesos. Anyone downplaying the dangers are doing a disservice to members on this board, especially the neophytes. I think the 'know it all' newbies could be the most vulnerable. Don't trust the girl, the bank employees, the hotel staff or the Taxi driver. Most Colombians are good honest people but the people we mongers run into most of the time are not. Be careful, be save, and enjoy the pussy.

Colombian cuisine has continued to improve over the years, However, Covid did do a number on the city's restaurant scene. After eating at countless restaurants in Bogota over the years my favorite is still JACQUES on calle 109 in Chico Navarra, runner up would be Andres Carne De Res Chia, just north of Bogota, Food, fun, tons of non pro chics makes this place a stand out. Would love to hear any recommendations from our members. Returning to Bogota in a few weeks looking to try out a few new ones.

If rice and plantains are the only items a person eats then maybe yes. But there is so much more to food than that.

As an example, one of of my favorite bars is in old city Cartagena. They make amazing cocktails, in addition, I love watching how they make the cocktails, the process they go through and the effort they put in. Not like the US where they are done with the cocktail in 30 seconds with bottled mixers.

Who knows why they required it because there was no forewarning when I did my online checkin. Seems rules change depending on what airline and who's working and who knows what other reasons. Another time while pretending not to speak English, I brought home a woman from Poland and she could not help but note that most of my books were in English. And dozens of times I have been on buses where everyone around me assumed I did not understand Spanish. It's interesting what you hear in those situations.

On Monday I did a test. I went to a Davivienda ATM. I have 2 checking accounts, different banks and each has different fees. I made consecutive withdrawals of 1,020,000 COP, one with each debit card.

Both banks charged my account $212.63, a rate of 4,797 COP per dollar. One of my banks charged a $1 fee which will be refunded at the end of the month. The other bank charged nearly $12 in fees, bringing the rate down to 4,553.

The difference isn't huge, but if you're budget conscious, over a few weeks you could easily lose a day's worth of your stay just through bank fees. It gets worse if the ATM has it's own fees.

If you're considering regular travel, finding a bank with no fees and reimbursement for outside fees is a good idea.

I heard Charles Schwab is one, First Republic is another I know of. You may have to have a certain amount in your account to start some of there accounts. I'm also tired of the big banks Wells Fargo and Bank of America!

First time to the motherland, not my first with Colombianas or South America. Been catching up on the last 100 pages of the threads and been learning Spanish, but I have no fantasies of any literacy. Met a really nice woman from BOG while working years back, which spurred the idea of this trip. Have been to FKKland, Caribbean and local for the P2 P game. Have my emergency devices / cards / phones / sim cards / etc.

Have booked about 18 days mid-Jan, flights booked, plan is so far: weekdays beach / weekends big city. Was thinking of something like this:

Schedule:

Weekday CTG. Long weekend in MDE. Weekday Santa Marta. Long weekend in BOG. Back to CTG and then out.

Areas to stay:

CTG: Bocagrande / Getsemani.

MDE: Laureles / Provenza / M?

SMR: Grand Marina area.

Chicas: since first trip, might as well try everything.

CTG, will try some Seeking, otherwise, probably point and shoot Playa Hollywood (need to experience the endless touts) daytime, nightime in the triangle of clocktower / clubs (though not my favorite scene).

MDE: May try the M for a few days and then stay in apartments, will check out El Centro / clubs and have been adding FB like crazy.

BOG: find a guide and some check casa action / tinder / online.

Lots of stories to absorb, but realized planning works until you step onto the field.

Funny, will try this caveat: mongering is not the priority, but if it's good as I think it will be, should be interesting.

Any suggestions / changes / ideas would be great.

F.Sounds like you've got a plan. It's not a plan which suits me, but that doesn't mean anything is wrong with it. Just different styles.

Here's a possible alternative schedule.

Start with 4 days in CTG, then 3 in Santa Marta. Next, 4 or 5 days in MDE, 4 or 5 days in BOG and whatever is left in CTG (where I assume you're flying in and out of). Adjust as necessary depending on your priorities. For example, if you want to visit Ciudad Perdido you'll need more time in Santa Marta, or if you're interested in museums and culture Bogota might get more days.

All 4 places will have non-mongering things of interest.

If tickets weren't already purchased I would suggest flying into either Bogota or Cartagena, then flying home from the other.

Does anyone know if its possible to pass from the international departures zone of the airport to the international arrivals zone? I mean once you are in the transit area, obviously not when you are in the general public area.

I think I had to go through security, but not through immigration (migracion). Not sure about the reverse though. Seems unlikely. Not sure why one would go from departures to arrivals.

A number of years ago (2018?) I arrived from Panama and left for the USA. Went through security but not immigration. Fairly standard setup, like most of the world. The US and Mexico are the outliers when it comes to international transfers.

Why does this guy want to go from departures to arrivals?

Many airports in the world. The arrivals and departures are just intergrated. No issue at all. You mix immediately with both arrivers and departers in the hubs. Panama is a good example.

What I want to do is buy a flight out of Colombia, pass thru immigration for exit stamp, then come back in again and get a new stamp. Will save a flight and quite a bit of time.

Man it doesn't work like that. When they ask what flight did you come in on what will you say? Everybody that comes into a country is documented by the airline they come in on. Immigration has that information.

Will save a flight and quite a bit of time. This is a really long explanation but not knowing your exact situation I thought I'the just put it all out there. I'm not an expert in this area though but the info I'm giving is correct as of this date so you'll have to apply it to your own situation.

The short answer is that even if you could go from departures to arrivals it may not help with your stamp issue. I'm assuming your goal is to just get a new stamp for 90 days so that you can stay in Colombia. Don't want to make this post ultra long so I'll try to keep it to the point. A tourist stamp / permit is different than a visa. There are all sorts of visas but for most of us coming into Colombia we will just get a tourist stamp in our passport and it's up to the discretion of the immigration agent whether they do it for the full 90 days or a shorter amount. You can get your 90 days extended to 180 days.

1. Did you extend your 90 day stamp to 180 days? It's fairly easy to do and you should be able to do it online though sometimes the online part has been glitchy. If you haven't extended your original 90 days to 180 days then that would be your 1st start though there are time limits to do it before the end of the 90 days. Search google, you'll find plenty of info. There's a fee I believe.

2. If you've already got the 180 day extension then there are rules associated with it that may stop you from doing what you want. In short, you are only allowed to stay in Colombia for a maximum of 180 days per calendar year and only 180 days consecutively even if those days go over into a new year on a tourist stamp.

3. In order to get around the 180 consecutive day rule but take advantage of the 180 day max rule you have to leave the country for at least 24 hours to restart the clock.

4. In theory the longest time you could game the system and stay on a tourist permit of 180 days is a total of 12 months spread out over 2 years with you leaving the country for at least 24 hours and hoping the immigration officer upon entering back into Colombia stamping your passport for the full 90 days and then paying the fee and getting your extension approved for a total of 180.

The 180 day thing is sorta confusing. So as an example if you arrive in Colombia on 1st October 2022 and you got your extension then you can't spend more than 180 consecutive days there so you'the have to leave on 1st April 2023 (that's 180 consecutive days) but since you're also allowed a maximum of 180 days per calendar year and 1st April is roughly 120 days into the 2023 calendar year you could leave for a period of 24 hours to reset your consecutive countdown and in theory come back into Colombia where the immigration person would stamp your passport for a 60 day tourist stamp (180 calendar year days - 120 days you've already spent in 2023). In theory the immigration person wouldn't stamp your passport for any longer and in theory you are not able to re enter Colombia as you will have exceeded your maximum of 180 days in Colombia during 2023 and you may need to apply for a visa instead. But who knows what the immigration officer could do?

A bit confusing but I imagine in order for you to get a stamp back in your passport you would need to leave the country to make sure you don't run foul of the 180 consecutive day rule and I'm imagining if you were only there on a 90 day permit and you wanted to come back in and get another 90 day permit you would also need to leave the country for 24 hours to get a new stamp and you'the need to keep in mind where you're at with your 180 days amount.

If you overstay your 180 day totals, whether that's through a combo of 2 x90 day permits in a calendar year or having your 90 days extended you will pay a fine when you leave Colombia and potentially impact your ability to renter the country. Hope this helps. Depending on your situation maybe a visa may be better? Good luck.

A bit more hassle though since the flights are to Pasto and then need to drive to border. Though I think there are some flights from Cali to Ipiales too.

If true it may be cheaper and faster to head down to Ecuador or Panama for a night. Let us know how you make out.

I'm not an expert in this area though but the info I'm giving is correct as of this date so you'll have to apply it to your own situation.Yep, I am familiar with most of that thanks. But those rules only apply per passort. It doesn't apply if you have 2 passports. but based on the likely security check, seems I will need to fly bcps I cannot think of a valid reason/excuse to pass thru a security check from departures to arrivals.
