Greetings all, I have a 3 hour layover in Bogota on Friday afternoon (from 1pm to 4:30pm) and have checked the Bogota list section along with using google maps to try and find a place that is close to the airport. I saw the sante fe section as well as one relax which is open midday. I looked at the map of Bogota and it seems as santa fe section is cross town while one relax is to the north. Any suggestions on where to go or even if it is worth leaving the airport considering rush hour traffic and my time constraints.

Well it was a quick two nights in Bogota. Hit a couple of spots near Sofitel. Trekked out on my own on second night in the torrential down pour, came back to Hotel and ordered room service. She was nice stretch marks, which she said was due to massive weight game, lol. Yeah probably nine months worth of weight gain, lol. Sweet girl though, but got a little emotional towards the beginning, kinda put a damper on things. Then asked for more money for transportation fees, because of traffic. Didn't give her dime more, not my fault there is traffic. She was no GFE and was a definite clock watcher. So i did my deed and sent her on her way. Hopefully, If I ever come back to Colombia, I'll find something better. Just not enough time this time. But thanks to all of your post, it was helpful but the weather wasn't, lol.

Bogota traffic these days, with construction going on in all major arteries and really nasty weather, is impossible. Don't waste your time and your money on an infinitesimal quickie. Not worth the hassle.

Up a dozen stairs and there is a walk around with Suite numbers. As you walk by you will notice some doors are open just a crack for the mamasan to look out. They windows are blanked out with paper with the suite number on it.

Forget it. Aint gonna happen. You have to buy in lots to get good per carat rates, regardless of color, clarity, cut.
Go to:
The Emerald Trade Center, Avenida Jiménez No. 5- 43, and walk through the bottom floors where you can freely rome until you feel comfortable striking up a conversation with someone. Not to the retail jewelry shops nearby. It's near the Museo de Oro stop for the Transmilenio. Google it. You'll find plenty of info online.
Also while you're down there, you might want to tour the Museo de la Esmeralda in the same area but a block or two or three away in the Avianca Building. A very interesting and educational tour. Google it. You'll find it.
Have fun. It's a great hobby. But IMO, even if you know what you're doing and, if you're not an expert negotiator with lots of time, you can only realistically "hope" to achieve a decent dollar value buy but much personal satisfaction knowing that you found it yourself close to the source in Colombia. Well, not THE source in Boyaca, but at the main trading area in Bogota.

I agree with S. I looked at this a while back, and emerald grading turns out to be much more difficult than diamond grading, and much easier to falsify.
Reputable jewelers won't touch stones from unestablished contacts for fear of getting sued. And even then occasionally get burnt.

As my name implies, I gravitate to the cheap and dirty mongering bars, houses etc. My last trip was to Lima and then North with DownUnderMonger for 5$ fun. Can you point me to the lowly of the lowly in Bogota? I've been mongering in 22 countries and speak ok espanole. I'll post my adventures.Downtown all the way. South of 19th street east of Av Caracas west of cra7, also a LITTLE bit north of 19 but if you go too far it's all trannies. There are hotels all around there too.
I took a walk round Santa Fe today just for a look. During the day time the risk is high but manageable as a quick sprint would bring you to some relatively busy streets with normal people in them. It is absolutely crytsal clear though that the risk at night would be extremely high. It should be said though that I look 100% gringo and am too clean cut. I stand out like a monkey in the arctic. I was there around midday and there were plenty of girls around but they were mostly very average looking and some were outright rough. In my opinion the risk reward ratio is far too low. High danger for below average looking girls, just not worth it. This place is not really for mongers its more for thrill seekers! It is quite a thrill walking round but I didn't have the balls to take a girl and wanted to get out pretty quickly on acount f my total gringo appearance (and not a word of Spanish either!).
So then I went on up to the Casa's listed in the Bogota lists (again just incredibley helpful and thanks so much for all the work that has gon into that / those lists. I stayed in the casa's around Chapinero Norte and this area is (or certainly seemed) 100% safe. It is just across the avenue from Zona G and is just like any normal residential neighborhood. To be clear here I am talking about Chapinero NORTE as being safe. Chapinero proper looked ok but was definitely more dodgy than Chapinero Norte and again I am talking about daytime hours here.
All the casa's in that area had some decent girls and I went with a lovely black girl from Chicas Milenio which wa 30, 000 for half an hour. In summary if you just want some good safe fun then head for the casa's in Chapinero Norte (girls much better looking and prices same as Santa Fe). If you are a thrill seeker and want to get your heart thumping then head for Santa Fe.

If you are a thrill seeker and want to get your heart thumping then head for Santa Fe.
If you look 100% gringo as you say, I would not recommend you to go to Santa Fe or Centro of Medellin at night.
The streets where there are the clubs are ok, but if you venture 1-2 blocks away your safety becomes questionable. Particularly dangerous are:
- the Cr. Caracas (W border of the SF district);
- the blocks South of Cl. 19th (the only people there are ladrones);
- the blocks W of Caracas along SF (not so bad as South of Cl. 19th, but if you see anybody there at night in a group larger than 1 you better run away).
Said this, the Centro Medellin is, in my impression, much more dangerous than Santa Fe in Bogota.
If you stay in biggest clubs, Santa Fe is ok at night (at least if you don't look gringo <grin>).
However, the only time I took a clearly unnecessary risk and I did something I would not repeat was in Santa Fe, trusting my istinct (wrong thing to do here):

I'll post my adventures.If you want the lowly of the lowly in Bogota and you appreciate the risk of being murdered (seriously) , no doubt your place is El Bronx, near Plaza de Los Martires, that is the worst place in Bogota. Any unaccompanied foreigner will be robbered, at best, day or night. Risk of death is significant (a drug addict handling a gun is not someone I'd like to meet, considered his control on his actions). Access streets to the block are even closed by barriers, because police does not enter and leaves it as a no-land zone, administered by local gangs.

If you want the very low-end girls, you can ask a taxi driver to make a tour at late night OUTSIDE El Bronx. Drug addicted girls come out and look for some plata. I did such a tour with a friend taxi driver, because I like to see places, and a couple of ghost girls asked me 10-20k (no, I did not try them). Considering that I am a foreigner, I guess the price for a local would be less than 10k.

I know its off topic but I was reading online about El Bronx and also an excellent 25 minute video on Youtube about the place (in English). That place is ultra hardcore! Seems someone like me would be dead within minutes and thats no exaggeration. Quite fascinating to learn about actually and would love to go through the streets there for the experience. Quite mind blowing just how close that is to the main tourist area of El Candelaria. Its only a few blocks away which I guess is why Candelaria has such a massive police presence.

El Bronx you should never go into without someone to vouch for you, I have never been but I know people who go regularly, mostly drug dealers who buy their supply out of there.
The lowest I have ever heard offered was "cinco con culo papi" jajajajajaja.
I'd say for cheap action I'd go to Santa Fe but south of 23rd street. Don't go to far "up" (east) or it's pure trannies.

OTOH once I took my friend there about a year ago, and he got his cellphone ripped off within 5 minutes!

SuperboyYes, you have to pickup your bags. After you pick up your bags turn around and go out the door you came in and pick up the shuttle bus. No it is not marked at all and yes it is free. The issue you will have is when to get off the shuttle, the stops are only marked with letters and I don't remember which one it is, unless someone here has the answer ask the bus driver.

SuperboyVery simple. Colombia, in spite of ideas someone may have before going there, works fine.
If you have ONE ticket (Airfrance and Avianca are partners: when you buy a ticket from AF from Europe to MDE, you buy a single ticket XX-CDG-BOG-MDE, where BOG-MDE is AV90nn), you will be checked in through MDE from Europe, Paris or whatever. Your luggage will be delivered to MDE. Just pass immigration and turn right to take the bus to the other airport (Puente Aereo).
If you have TWO tickets, I think you can be checked-in anyway through MDE. If not, after immigration pick up your luggage, pass the customs, turn right and go to the Avianca transfer desk, where you can check in for BOG-MDE and to the bus to the other airport (Puente Aereo).
At all times, ask any Avianca personnel in uniform. They will welcome you with a smile and you will not be lost.
PS: I think Manizales travels from USA. From Europe and with AF, no hassle: check-in through final destination.
Aero Republica is at the other end of the international terminal. All you do is go throught immigration at Eldorado, go upstairs and check your bags with aero repubiica to Mde. Very simple. No shuttle busses.

I don't recommend it, because:
1) If you fly with AirFrance, they are allied with Avianca (not codeshare, though) and thus they issue conveniently a single ticket from Europe including the connection, e. G. :
XX-CDG AF nnn.
CDG-BOG AF0422.
BOG-MDE AV90nn.
Note that the additional return segment BOG-MDE cost very little.
2) Avianca has more flights, and thus the AV connection is more convenient, usually. 1:30 between the arrival of CDG-BOG and the departure BOG-MDE is more than enough (I did it many times) , including also the time for immigration.
3) Most important, if you buy a single ticket from AirFrance, including the AV flight BOG-MDE, you will be not worried about flight delays. If CDG-MDE is delayed, they rebook you and you don't lose your money. If you have two separate tickets AF+another carrier, delays on the first flight will make you lose your second flight and your money too.
4) Last, the time you need to go from the International El Dorado Airport to the Puente Aereo is few minutes. It's their standard procedure, so don't be worried.

Well I'm back from the "field". This is a NEWBIE REPORT so take it as such and please just skip the usual batter a few of you seem to love so much. Corrections / updates / names of places however are appreciated.
First day here, I went to La Piscina, I strip club in the most dangerous part of Bogota, the SanteFe "Zone of Tolerance". This area is dangerous at night and even in the daytime I never felt great there.

I arrived too early (3PM) so nothing was going on at La Piscina, but I had some drinks with 3 white tourists, one 8. 5 chica and one 5 they managed to find somewhere for us. After a few rounds we went to another stripclub that was truly open, across the street. Nothing worth taking away but the chicks did get naked on stage on their 3rd dance.
Then I went and ate dinner and took a rest.
At 9:30PM my plan was to make it back to the La Piscina place I went earlier today. It's a huge place, beers are only $2USD and the quality of chicks is supposed to be incredible. Anyways, two taxi drivers told me I would get knifed or killed there at this time of night.
So instead I went to Extasis and another spot in a different side of town. Had a $12. 50USD beer at both. Then I headed to a really upscale place. The beer was $20 USD. FUCK. BUT. The girls were truly incredible. I'd say some of the hottest fucking girls I've ever seen in my life. It was mind numbing how hot these chicks were. I choose my favorite and she (a solid 9 in my book) sat down. Her ladies drink would have been $25USD so I stalled her and we mingled for a while. Then onto the business. There was a house fee of $132, 000 ($66 USD) right off the top. FUCK. Then she asked me for 600, 000! That's fucking $300 USD! I negotiated her from my offer of $150K down to $450, 000 but she wouldn't budge a bit lower. There was no way I'm paying $225 + 66 = basically $300 USD for only ONE FUCKING POP and one hour of time. NO WAY. Instead, I left and on my way out she told me she had a girlfriend that would go for $300, 000. (The chick was decent, nothing amazing) No thanks I said, I've already fallen in love with you, picked her up in the air and gave her a kiss on the cheek in front of all her supermodel ho friends, then walked. If you are interested in taking a look at the place (there are well over 15 smoking hot. 10 amazing and 5 decent girls in the place) It has more of a ultra-lounge atmosphere with older, rich Colombian guys in business suits, buying bottles and hot chicas. Anyways here are the directions:
Grab a cab and ask him to take you to 85 con 15. If he asks for more specific locations, or if you can't understand him, just say you want to go to the Carulla supermarket on 85 and 15. Make sure you ask the driver which direction is NORTE when getting out of the cab. . From there walk a block and a half north. On your right hand side you'll see neon lights, there are 2 or 3 clubs there. One of them is Extasis.
So, if U-turn right (towards the neon) you'll goto Extasis. But, if you continue North on down the street a ways. 3 more blocks, on the left hand side of the street you'll see doormen and possibly a lady or two outside of the high end place I mentioned.
Next up for me was one more no name place a taxi took me to where the girls were quite nice but a fucking beer cost $12. 50 USD AGAIN and I got pissed and left without ordering. On my way out they offered me $15 USD beer! I told them I wasn't a dumb gringo and left in my cab. I believe this city is seriously gringo unfriendly. But first my impression could be wrong. Anyways, I know the locals are paying WAY FUCKING less for the same shit.
So now I'm at home and ordering outcall for about $100 USD. Sucks but whatever.
Anyways, I'll leave Bogota for you guys to enjoy. I'm leaving for Medellin!

All you need to do to make it safer is stay in the st with lots off people on them and take taxis coming in and getting it of it. N what the taxi driver told you was just to scare you and make you go to the upscale club were they get a nice commission for bringing gringos in. (it happen to me 2). I bet he toke you to the stripclubs by Zona Rosa.

Corrections / updates / names of places however are appreciated.Sounds like you had a bad trip. BOG is a huge city and without Spanish skills and maybe a friend or 2, it can be hard for the newbie. Too bad you didn't try La 49 (on septima and calle 49 of course). I would describe it as a midpoint in price range. I remember being there one night back in '07. A friend of mine took me there. We had a good cheap colombian chicken soup or ajiaco there at 3 in the morning, the kitchen is open all night. Drinks are reasonable but beware the private VIP section upsell. My friend and this other guy with us took a hit of acid and were tripping out the rest of the night. I don't do that stuff but this is one place in BOG you can go wild, if that's you're thing, without worrying about getting robbed (or killed, LOL).
There's tons of girls here of all kinds and colors. I got looks and even the old "butt-pinch" so these girls are a bit more aggressive than the usual LDV types. I saw a girl with the biggest knockers ever, I mean insanely humongous although she was a bit fat. She was probably working to get some money for reduction surgery, LOL! The staff are trustworthy and helpful, although they're obviously looking for tips. One guys was annoying at first, but he was helpful in the end and seemed satisfied with my 10k cop tip.
You can even hang out with some of the girls there if you can speak Spanish and are a cool laid back type of guy. My buddy never sessions with the girls but he had no problem hanging out and dancing with a couple of the chicas that already seemed to recognize him as a regular (but NOT a client).

Now if the first offer is too high, then obviously don't do that, LOL! However, if a girl is asking 600K, a 150K first counteroffer is ridiculous. That's definitely unrealistic and newbie style.
You're better off NOT negotiating. Just simply state a price you're willing to pay and for how much time.
If a really hot 9 at an upscale club wants 600 and I really want her, I'll say look you're really hot and I want to get to know you better and enjoy my time with you at leisure. I can pay you 400 for 2 hours tonight or any time you can drop by my place. Check to see if she can see you some other time. Let her know you want to spend your money on HER, not the club owner and their outrageous takeout fees and drink prices. NEVER laugh at a girls 1st offer, no matter how high or ridiculous it seems. That will never help you and can actually alienate the girl. Just smile and look like you've done this many times before. Let her know you don't negotiate but this is your offer and let her know emphatically if she takes it she won't regret it and will have a great time with you.
Sometimes a girl will choose to go with you for less than what she "expects" or "deserves" because you have chosen her, you've made cleared your intent or interest. A lot of these so-called "high end" girls will quickly lose interest in you if she thinks you are just fishing around for the lowest price hottie, or you're uncertain, or don't know what you're doing. I believe that's the psychology going on here.
400k cop even in the rich part of BOG is a generous offer; if the hottie doesn't jump at it, it's 99% certain to be a bad session anyway, so either result, this approach will work out better for you in most cases.
By the way La 49 is hopping until 5 or 6 in the morning (maybe even later) so if have no luck in the upscale uptown joints (where they rob you legally) , you can try your luck at the midpriced and midtown La 49 which should be safe enough even for "newbies."

RodeoRodeo, I know in Medellin they have fincas in Santa Ellena and Copacabana about an hour or less away from the city, but I don't know any in Bogota. I am sure they exist since the surrounding area of Bogota are breathtaking.

This isn't Six Flags or Epcot Center, this is Colombia after all. If you feel you need to be cautious in and around Zona Rosa and Parque 93 then stay away from Santa Fe. IMO it has a Tiajuana vibe but way cleaner and way safer, hard to describe in words but that's the best I can do for ya'll. I also speak decent Spanish, I'm young, in good shape, and I know how to handle myself. I thinking is it's how you carry or present yourself; if you're walking down the street always tapping your wallet and camera to make sure no pick pocket got ya, or looking around all scared like a baby deer; then yes the "Ladrones why Malucos" are going to target you. I'm not saying go all "Jersey Shore" and strut down the street with your tatoos blazing and chest all pumped out. Just be alert, aware, and respectful and you should be fine.

Heading to Bogota in a few weeks. The site has been very helpful, Thanks to all those guys who have contributed and have spent the time to write reports. I've been to Medellin several times Mansion trips-no need to report in detail since there is a wealth of info on that place and all I can say is that all reports are accurate. Its a great place to visit and meet new people and the staff is great but after a while it gets a bit much, in my opinion, as far as competition among the mongerers. I've been to Cartagena and there are some great lists I've found here to help make those trips incredible, but I haven't seen one for Bogata. My novia was running a little late and so it was the perfect opportunity to do a little shopping there. Prices are $ 4, 000 for 4 generic V's I pay $ 20 USD each here in the states so I bought 15 boxes LOL. Lady looked at me kinda crazy LOL This was a novia trip and stayed at various hotels during my trip. Here are a few I can recommend.
Girardot- Hotel Zamba. Nice Clean and safe. No hot water, won't need it. It is hotter than shit there. City is not safe IMO. I never really felt safe there and always watched my back. Would recommend Hotel El Republicano.
Ibague- Great city nice people, lots of girls, easy for Non pro hook ups. Hotels I recommend are Hotel Acandi in the central part of the city. I think that is the main part of town. Lots of hotels on that strip all around 70k for 2 people. Clubs in that city are in the area near the Citibank. And there is a place called plaza Garibaldi Mexican mariachi place, good drinks and Tequila.
Armenia- Again lots of girls all over the place. Easy for non pro hookups. Good food easy to get a round and safe for the most part. Stay away from the streets that are not well lit. Also if you exchange at the money places make sure you do not then go into an unlit area. As thieves are waiting for you to go into places where they can find you alone. Hotels- there are plenty in the centro area. But I noticed a few Americans at the Parque de Cafe. There is a booth with a hot little Colombian there renting rooms at the Fincas. Those fincas are a really great deal. Extremely nice and comfortable free breakfast pool, exercise area bedrooms are really clean. Safe! There is one which I think is the best one it is Green and Yellow. Cost about 90k for 2 people. Best finca I can recommend. If you need more info just PM me be glad to help people out with as much info as I can.

The Avianca flight from Miami arrived right on time in Bogota around 7:30. Some people complain about Avianca, but I have always have had the best flights and have met single women each time. I was seated in the emergency row whcih meant great leg room. I passed on the food since I had a great lunch in Miami and settled for a few free glasses of Johnny Walker.
Once you study the map of Bogota, it becomes easy to figure out where you are. Carreras run north and south and start closest to the mountains and the numbers get higher as you move away from the mountains. Calles run east and west (mostly, some wind around) with the low numbers starting in the south.
By the time I got to the Hotel Dann Carlton located north of Zona Rosa (Cra 15 at Calle 104) it was past 9:00 pm. The room was a King for myself and wife with a sofa bed for my son (wife's son). Flat screen TV with the usual Spanish and a few English speaking channels. Room had a safe, hot water (usual for Bogota, but not Cartagena) , and had an air condition unit for when you closed the window. This was a Sunday in Bogota where most things are closed. On Friday, Lina had said she would be available and she could come over if I wanted and she could bring a friend. I called her and confirmed and she and a friend, Carolina, showed up at my hotel at 11:30 as planned.

Planning on spending a week in Colombia starting April 18-I just checked the calender and its the week of Semana Santa-"SS". Is the City asleep this week-is it better to head to Cartegena for the week as many people will be on holidays. Just not too sure how important S. S is in Colombia and whether I should re-think my plans. I know from experience that in Cuba nothing changes this week but Colombia is a completely different society-I've been to Bogota and Medellin several times but never during the S. S. Any advice would be appreciated.Bogota Medellin and Cali empty out during Semana Santa. Small towns swell up, medium size cities like Pereira Ibague etc stay the same.
I know it can be a bit crazy at the airports on the weekends during SS lots of traffic and lineups. Last year I was just leaving Medellin when SS started. There was a 2 mile traffic jam trying to get into the airport. I will be traveling solo and just want a good place to hang out-small or big city. My last two trips to Bogota were great but going back during SS may be completely different. I contacted two of the girls I spent a lot of time with last trip and they are both taking holidays that week-not a good sign. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I spent 5 days in Bogota which I've detailed in separate parts in this forum, but I thought I'd share what my general thoughts are and what I would and wouldn't do over. My primary goal when going to Bogota was chicas so your tastes may vary.
My taxi from the airport was COP 21, 600.
I stayed at Suites Real 85 which was very walkable to Zona Rosa and generally a very chica friendly hotel. I'd stay there in a heartbeat again. Prices were COP 183, 000 per night. So about $100 per night. But it had a separate room from the bedroom and a tiny kitchen. Breakfast was just fruit (usually papaya) , coffee, and juice.
I changed some dollars to pesos at the airport. I got 1800 pesos to the dollar. I did the rest of my money conversion at New York Money in Andino Mall. I got 1770 pesos to the dollar that same day at New York Money (third floor at Andino Mall).
As far as eating, I didn't eat much fancy stuff. More or less I was in Zona Rosa and looking at menus and going in and eating whatever. None of it was memorable.
On to the chicas. I would have gone to Santa Fe early (Santa Fe being the red light district where everything is cheaper and more dangerours). Most people on this board say gringos should only go during the day. Most people talk about these places in Santa Fe: Atunes, Picina, Paisas. I regret not going to Santa Fe. I didn't do much during the daytime and as per the advice on this board I didn't go at night.
I also went to the Mezzanine massage places at Cr 15 and Calle 104. I only went to #6. One girl above the rest, but for COP 100k, not so bad. It's a good place to get your feet wet. It's only open during regular business hours. Like 9 to 5 or whatever. It's above a cafe top place. RTFF for more details.

GFE means different things to different people. Does it mean they kiss? Does it mean they sweet talk you? Or does it mean they don't act like robotic bitches who want to get out of there ASAP? No matter how you slice it, I felt like all the chicas I was with gave a good to very good GFE. They were all 1 to 2 hour sessions (with one TLN) , but I found them all very sweet and friendly. But it didn't hurt them I'm in my 30s and look young. So surely that helped. Anyway, I would go back to Bogota in a heartbeat. The girls were generally great. I never felt threatened at all. I don't have addresses for these clubs, but I never needed them. As you walk around Zona Rosa. Mostly on calle 82 around carrera 14 and 15 (near the Rock and Jazz casino) , you'll be approached by many guys offering you chicas. Tell them where you want to go and they'll guide you there. Of note. The salida at El Cedro was 100k. You can also get other things from these guys if you want. I asked one guy for perico and he left for 5 minutes and was back with 2 grams for COP 40k.
I never went to El Cedro earlier than 1 am, but I'm told it's open until 6 am.

Medium budget means different things to different people. I thought Suites Real 85 at $100 was a little pricier than I wanted, but I had zero trouble with chicas coming in. They have a policy of charging for overnight guests. I was charged for one overnight guest, she stayed until 7 am. Most of the other guests were out by 5 am. I think as long as the chica is out by the time the daytime front desk clerk is on duty, you're fine.
I didn't stay anywhere else, so I can't comment. It really is nice to have a place that is walkable. Which Suites Real 85 was. If I wanted to go super budget, I contemplated El Virrey. Which is around Santa Fe so more dangerous. I also contemplated Hotel Charlie's (http://www.hotelcharlies.com/).

I checked out several places during my 5 day trip, here is a short first report:
I would strongly recommend Santa Fe Red Light District: 10 stripclubs / brothels within walking distance.
I would not bother with any other area if you are only here for a couple of days.
Good security: lots of people on streets and several police officers and private security guards payed by the higher-end strip clubs. I am really gringo looking, had no problems, felt safe even late at night.
No entrance fees at any place.
2000-3500 or USD 1-2 for a local beer.
Good looking girls, GREAT value: 5-9s. Most cost 30, 000-60, 000 for half hour in house. Thats USD15-30 for some great looking, very sexy girls.

I normally visited Santa Fe from mid-afternoon (3:00 pm) to 8:00 pm. I really never felt in danger. I always walked to and from Santa Fe and the hotel without any problems. If you don't go wandering off down some dark lonely street, you should be ok.
The hotel bathrooms in the single room are small. The rooms on the second floor are bigger than the ground floor rooms (and quieter) so be sure to ask for an upper floor room. No room safe. Small room refrigerator. Free breakfast. Free wi-fi. Late check-out (4:00 pm). Good hot water shower flow. Friendly staff. Cable TV.
I was told the hotel is chica friendly, but I have no personal experience.

It is in the Santa Fe red light district, near the Calle 22 Transmileneo station (this runs along avenida Caracas) , across the street from Atunes (daytime club). I was only there once, about 8pm, it was packed. Ran into an old working girl friend from St Maarten (in the caribbean) and she told me not to stay in the neighborhood after dark. She actually insisted I get in a cab and leave! The area is dangerous, so take a cab to and from.
The Embassy suites is on Calle 70, so closer to the Zona Rosa (nightclub / restaurant area) than to the scummy red light area (Santa Fe).

Just returned from a few days in Bogota. I stayed in the Parque 93 area because work paid for the hotel. I had a great time from non-pro I met. She returned every evening so I had no need to search after 7 or 8pm. Plus it was the week of Semana Santa. Sunday through Wednesday was fine. Thursday the city seemed deserted and I flew out Friday.
Here's what I found:
Traffic sucks. Transmillenio is the only way to move North and South especially later in the day. Cabs are a minimum $5, 000 on festivals.
I went to the Mezzanine on 104 and 15th. I have been there on previous trips and until someone posted about the doors around back I did not know they were there. I had always found something in the doors that faced the main street. Worth the time to go look around back. Cost was $70,000 with a 22 year old girl who's name I don't know. There were girls there that had better bodies but she seemed friendly and smiled a lot. I banked on attitude and she did good. I wasn't disappointed but wouldn't repeat with her. No tip but she didn't act like she was expecting one so I didn't offer. I like this place and would recommend it. I have had the price fluctuate between 70k and 80k. Service for me has always been good and the selection always has something I am attracted to. I have never had a bad experience here or walked away because of the selection. The girls all seem to be 20-30, mostly 7 and 8's on the bodies, and as many spinners as big ones. I don't like the small rooms which lack any privacy but for $70,000 and the consistency, it's worth a visit.
I went to OZ strip club on Saturday night. Like all clubs they frisk you and charged us $10, 000 to get in. I protested but they said it was standard. I just paid it and went inside. The action is upstairs and the stage is a big L where all the seats are front row. The girls were young, mostly pretty, decent bodies, and expensive. Everything was expensive, too expensive. My Spanish is not very good so maybe I missed something. The beers were in the range of $20, 000 or so and they mainly wanted to sell us a bottle and not single drinks. I believe they were trying to overcharge us but I also believe that even if they weren't it would have been on the high end for Bogota. Take some money, spend some time, and report back. I think it would have been a very fun place but expensive.

The guy at the front door said the other two were closed and I didn't see any lights on further down the street. Pricing was 30, 000 for 30 minutes. She tried to upsell in the room. After reading all the scary stories about santa fe, I decided to head there and see myself. Transmillenio Calle 22 drops you very close. I had a look and it seemed as dodgy as the La Candelaria so nothing different! Started walking down the 3-4 parallel streets and found the different bars. Tried few but I would say the best one is Troy, nice streaptease, lots of lady and prices 30-40K just upstairs. Found a crazy 18 years old that I also brought to a nearby motel to enjoy longer time!
Also tried one of the window on the street. Pretty standard service for 30k but you can find a beauty sometimes. Ended up spending most of the time in Troy even though once you are in the area you can enter in all of them and see if you get your taste of girl.
Safety: there are a lots of wierdos as in all the red light districts. So watch out for pickpocketers and stay away from crowd of guys and safe distance to anyone. Walk confident and get into the bar you like, don't stand in the street as you would become a target.
If you look gringo and don't speak spanish I don't recommend, but that's my opinon.

Checking out Trip Advisor I first fond very few 5stars hotels in Bogota, than read about a poster having troubles when trying to bring in a girl to his Casa Dann Carlton room. Is that standard in Bogota high end hotels? If not which one could you recommend close to the action. Or even far from it?

visited atune around 3:30pm, the selection of ladies was super, i speak no spanish, but connected with a 9. 0, her fee was 60, 000 ($35 us) for about 20 min. her service was a rushed gfe, her body was near perfect, she was very friendly and attentive.
walked around the three red light blocks, it was very busy.
i returned at 8:00pm, the ladies at atune thinned out, in the afternoon there were perhaps 30 ladies, at 8:00pm perhaps 6 ladies. i did not connect with this group, it was dark, but still early, walked around the block peeked in some clubs, there was one club on the same block as atune, opposite side of the street near the corner, it was thucke in from the street, you walked say 30 yeards to the door. this place was jammed with people, i did see two ladies that worked the afternoon shift at atune there, i did not score there.
around the corner saw a very attractive red head, wanted 30, 000, her service was ok, but just there for the deed.

It has been problem in whole country where some girls drug the person in thier own room and steal everything and it's common these days too.
What I have been doing in Bogota (for my security and not paying the hotel fees) going to the love hotels in Bogota.
Before going there I will only take some cash and my driver licence Unless I know the girl and am pretty sure about her. The fee is about 12k per hour. The one I used is very clean and safe, however the area where these love hotel is in Bogota is not safe to walk to or around it. You take a cab to and from.
Most girls should know those hotels, but if you need the address, let me know.

LuisIt's pretty much standard for 5 stars anywhere in the world. They don't want to be seen catering to hookers and johns. If they did, they wouldn't be 5 stars! If you want to bring a girl in, it will have to be as your "girlfriend." Sign in as a couple. If you expect to be bringing a new "girlfriend" every night, forget about it! You might be able to bribe, but don't expect it to work.

Hioctane, I'll be sport and try to believe you actually do patronize 5 stars hotels, but than you don't travel enough to judge what's pretty much standard "anywhere in the world". It's definetely not in Europe and Asia and haven't heard it's any different in the US.
Is there a nice hotel in Bogota with an inhouse disco loaded with freelancers so one doesn't need to hunt too far away?

Nobody ever said anything to me about any fee or questioned someone going in with me, which was a relief because most other hotels in Colombia do try to get you for at least US$30. If I remember correctly, the elevators, located in a sitting area that also houses the hotel's restaurant, are around the corner from the reception desk. So although the front desk will see you come in with someone they will not be able to see you going up the elevator because the front desk is facing the back side of the wall that houses the elevator shafts.

Hopefully the security won't bother too much if and when coming in with a guest.
Thanks for the tip on La Fontana OrientalExpress, the reviews aren't great on TA but I will definetely keet it in mind if the Marriott turns to be too much of a hassle.

ThanksI will be glad to give some good suggestions, first your handle, revise it to Colombian Lover, next realize that Bogota is not CR but they do have some playgrounds where any warm blooded man can have fun but its just a bit different venue in Bogota. Check the lists for Bogota, do some research and go have fun, I know I have in my 5 visits to Bogota in the past 1. 5 years.

Just came back from a two-week of biz trip in Bogota and tried a few websites (as my times are tight and I don't have too much time going out, in-calls were my quickest choices). I tried the following:
1. http://www.nenasprepago.com: Good response and real pix. I tried 2 times and both times girls were prompt and on-time.
2. http://www.bogotaescortsvip.com: Used once and service was good and prompt.
3. http://co-en.colombiascortvip.com: Had a gret time with Paolo as shown on the video. Nice body and perky tits (though not too big)
4. http://www.chicasinbogota.com: Used them once but bad experience. First after waiting for one hour the mada called and told me the girl was not available (when she promised that the girl would be at my hotel in half an hour). An finally the girl who arrived was not the one promised, she tried to spend a lot of time and had a bad attitude. I used her for a quickie and sent her away. After I complained to the madam she really pissed me off by telling me that I didn't tip the girl that's why she had a bad attitude (How could I have tipped her even before the service begins?) I would never use this one again.
5. http://sexymodelscolombia.com: Called once late in the night, she promised to send the girl who never arrived. After I called back the cell was turn off.

I think there might be a dance pole, but I don't think there are any regular shows. Like most of the clubs in this category, the waiters wear suits and they only serve imported beer or expensive bottles of liquor. Many guys hate it and consider it a clip joint but there are some really beautiful & nice babes there, who will be happy to give you a great time. They probably will ask for $500K at first but should go for around $200K or so.
The other bars around the corner on Calle 86 are similar (Casanova, Extasis, La Piscina de Norte, etc.) but I think Lalo's is the best, at least based on my last time about 6 months ago.
In my experience it is safe to walk in this area. I usually have one of the club security guards accompany me just to be safe.

As for you comment about your friends saying it was a clip joint, where the drinks expensive and the ladies drinks also. Sounds more like a strip joint type of place. I have been taken for high priced drinks at a club in Mexico like this.

- The best days are from Wednesday to Saturday. Avoid Sunday, very very poor panorama. Open from 6 pm to 3 am.
- The best time is BTW 8 and 22 pm (highest density of girls) or at the end from 1 am till close. At close, it's easier that they will not be under pressure for come back to work. Time is money.
- The girls are indipendent. But to take them out you have to pay a fee (usually 100/130 K COP).
They outcall if they do not work or during the day. Up to your agreement with them. But anyway they work in the club.
- These clubs work on beverages and fees. So prepare you to pay 30 k COP for a beer. Prices should be showed at the entrance. Girls usually do not ask for a drink. But it can happen.
- There is not entrance fees.
- Some have rooms for a reasonable price (Casanova offers it at 130 k and you don't have the exit fee to pay)

Just a brief recap of my experience in Bogotà.
I went there 2 nights of which one Sunday and one Friday.
I stayed in Andino Royal, well placed in the middle of Zona T, Zona Rosa, Andino Mall and the clubs (Casanova, Lalo, Extasis, El Padrino.).
On Sunday night, it's true, nothing goes on.
On Friday was a quite funny evening. The area is really full of people.
Guys, do not look for SW, there aren't. It's just normal people around.
The place is nice, good looking and you can find good food, but specially good pub and disco.
Concerning the morgen scene: there are some clubs interesting.
El Padrino, Casanova, Lalo, Extasis are in this area.
I went to Extasis and it was not good looking with just a few girls around and I went out quickly.
Then I moved to Casanova.
Nice ambience, nice girls, around 20 of which, in my opinion, two 10!
One expecially, from Cartagena, blonde, nice boobs. Was very nice. Price 300k.
Another, Diana, brune from Medellin, nice face, natural body. Out for 200k.
One good thing for business traveler is that Casanova makes invoices like Italian restaurant.
Unfortunately, in only two nights. I couldn't do much more.

A little amateurish, and not 5 star facilities, but for only 100k pesos (and there really are no other charges) the girls (about 10) were friendly and the organisers too. Whisky and rum free, but the music too loud (unfortunately no Mozart). Camilo, the boss, speaks English.

The hotel is 651-3131.
It is on Calle 85 No. 12-28.
I went to the Mezzanine on 104 and 15th. I have been there on previous trips and until someone posted about the doors around back I did not know they were there. I had always found something in the doors that faced the main street. Worth the time to go look around back. Cost was $70,000 with a 22 year old girl who's name I don't know. There were girls there that had better bodies but she seemed friendly and smiled a lot. I banked on attitude and she did good. I wasn't disappointed but wouldn't repeat with her. No tip but she didn't act like she was expecting one so I didn't offer. I like this place and would recommend it. I have had the price fluctuate between 70k and 80k. Service for me has always been good and the selection always has something I am attracted to. I have never had a bad experience here or walked away because of the selection. The girls all seem to be 20-30, mostly 7 and 8's on the bodies, and as many spinners as big ones. I don't like the small rooms which lack any privacy but for $70,000 and the consistency, it's worth a visit.Stopped by the Mezzanine on a Saturday. This is the third time in 3 years. Filled with 1. 2 rated girls. If you have low standards, this is your place.
Went to the Loutron in Bogota. Again it was Saturday, didn't open till 1 pm on Sat, not 11 am like someone posted. 4-5 rated girls. Abijitas was closed on Sat as well.
Went down to Santa Fe the usual spots. All 4 to 5 rated girls.
Ended up going to a newer place around 85. Just NW of the Hardrock and right around the corner from the Casino. They have the real small flags in the entrance. Expensive. The girls want $500, 000 for 3 hours or $300, 000 for 1 hour. 5 beers, a bottle of booze for the girls, and take out charges for 2 girls $800, 000.
I won a fair amount at the casino earlier that day, so I ended up spending it in booze and women! No better way to spend Casino winnings.
I've been to the place on 95th west of the Park with the larger flags. In the 20 times I have been there I have pulled 1. They want $500, 000 for the night. Waste of time if you are looking at the high end. All the cab drivers take you there for a bounty so beware. Also they will follow you to the places around 87 for a bounty.
Bogota is a weekend place. All the hotties take the weekend off. They make money off business guys, not broke weekend travelers or broke 9 to 5 M-F workers.
ALSO-Very important to note. I was walking around 75 Sat afternoon and a guy came up to us with a police badge in a nice suit. They asked some questions and showed his badge. And then they wanted us to go to the police station to answer questions becuase I didn't have my passport (It would have been something else even if I had my passport on me). It was a scam. He was very nice guy probably 50, clean cut. The other 2 approached in suits one claiming to be from Venz. And the short guy claimed to be a cop as well. I've been coming to Bogota for 6 years and have seen it when there were many military troops on the streets, so I was not about to fall for this street scam. They then asked how much money we had on us and claimed if we didn't answer his questions, we would have to go to the police station. I just asked where it was and told him lets go. I can see where a newbee could get suckered on this street scam. Once they knew we were onto it they took off. Beware new comers of many street scams. Most are obvious, but stay alert.

I have seen many reports here about girls in the north for $300. 000, $500. 000 etc.
Whilst there is no doubt there are hot girls in these clubs, you will spend a fortune on drinks, take out fees and the girls herself all for maybe just one pop. If you are lucky she might spend the night but generall these girls will be looking to score again, remember they are earning money not looking for a boyfriend.
In my experience like all mongering destinations you should shop around. Santa Fe has some gems but again many fuglies and can depend on day and time of day. If you go there be prepared its safe during the day for the room girls and some day clubs but the clubs are much more busy at night there is more selection and its more dangerous but if you can get yourself a taxi or transport you will be fine.
A lot of the parlours in chapinero can be hit and miss, but I have found that Julianas sometimes has hotties (Kr 19 #67) and some do owo (see Bogota lists). There are many clubs around between carrera 16 and 17 in this zone between calle 63 (where the motels ares) , in fact they will show you other parlours if you can't find any girls you like. Right up until carrera 17 with calle 72 (on the corner) there are parlours on every block. I've seen some hotties some not so hot but the basic message is that there is a lot of rotation. I've found some girls who were hot, went back and they no longer work there, this is the nature of the game, they rotate around the cities like Medellin, baranquilla, Cartagena and of course some go to the dutch islands. The prices are much cheaper often from $30. 000 for half an hour which is cheaper than santa fe and its much easier to walk around best time in the afternoons specially if its sunny. Girls wer fairly OK (Friadya night). But sat doing the bored thing. Texting, wobbling on crazy high heels and generally looking disinterested.
Much better were x 2 clubs down on side street just few 100 yars from lalos. Totally empty. Was a holiday weekend. No idea of names. But hooked up with a real live wire lady. She was so ho. All night. 100 to take out (hmmm.) .300 for the night (OK OK, should have negotiated better). But worth every penny. All the way through to the next morning and she kept waking me up!
Example. When I had my shower to start proceedings. She just stood and watched me. And when I got out to dry off. She started proceedings by taking me in the bathroom. All her own initiative. She was a real real hun.

Yeah, Friday nights are slow in Bogota especially if it's a three day weekend. I know a lot of my favorites won't work the weekend. I prefer Monday through Thursday. The ladies at Lalo's can be a bit snobby but they are nice once you show interest in them, and really just great once you get them out of the club. Really stunning ladies there at least time I was there, but I'm sure they must move around so it just depends on when you are there.
I think the other clubs you're talking about are Casanova (sometimes called La Piscina de Norte) and Extasis. Those are nice places also.

Thought I'd share my latest experiences in Bogota. Chapinero:
Chica 2000: still exists. About 6-7 chicas there when I was there. I'd rate them somewhere between 4 and 6. Charge is 40k for 30 minutes. CBJ included, although not a fantastic one, but which CBJ is, right? You'll find it on cll 72. 14A.
Right opposite Chica 2000 is another place with a guard in front of the door. You can't miss it. When I was there on a weekday morning, there were 5 chicas there of which one was an extremely hot black chick. Took her 30 minutes for 40k. She was fantastic. Can highly recommend. Her name is Jennyfer and I'd rate her a solid 9 if you don't mind small perky tits. Her attitude was also great despite or maybe because it was still early morning.
Chicas Harley: on Cra A17 No. 70A. 80. It's a small bar behind a black door and can easily be missed. When I was there on a weekday evening at around 7pm all chicas were busy. So no luck. Prices seem the same as above.
SPA on Cra 20 No. 71-52. Was handed one of these small flyers on the street and decided to check it out. Don't go there, not worth it. Prices are higher than elsewhere, I. E. 30k only get you 15 minutes. 30 minutes cost 52k. When I was there they showed me 4 chicas which were all solid 3-4s. Left the place immediately.
One tip: Go to these places in the morning. The chicas are still fresh and untouched. Personally I don't like the thought of 5-10 dicks having entered the girl on the same day without showers in between sessions. Just does not feel right.

The one hour is really 15 minute massage and then however long it takes you to get off. I did not really hit off with this girl but your experience may vary. I went to this place. I did not like the lineup. The doorman took me next door and I found one to my liking. This area is basically commercial where all the construction subcontractors and auto repair shops have their shops. I like these places a little better than the mezzanine, which is heavily recommended on this board, because they have their own rooms. The mezzanine probably rates because there are more girls in closer proximity but I think the prices are the same. Preference may be as simple as to what side of Zona Rosa you are staying. If you go to the Av 72 (Av Chile) at the train station there will be guys handing out slips of paper for all these places. From there it is a five to ten minute walk to privado heaven.

Here is my report on Chicas Milenio.
I recently went there. It is 10-15 minute walk from Zona Rosa, but I took cab. Big mistake. Got stuck in traffic and took me around 45 min and cab driver took me in circles as he could not find carr 14A. Finally got off at 15 and 71.
A guy was sitting on chair outside and he took me in. It is discreet house with no signs. Sat in living room and all available girls poured in. Quality wise it is 4-6. Do not expect 7+. And for these prices we should not expect better quality.
Price is 28K for 20 min. 35K for 30 min. Rooms are upstairs decent and big rooms, at least the room in was in. Went to room with patty, little chubby. CorpoThat is where it is. Norte de Bogota. Expensive, safe, almost too quiet for me. You'd have to take a taxi everytime to go somewhere. I usually stay in Chapinero which is very close to the casas and the action. I never feel unsafe here walking around even during the night. But everyone has their own comfort level. Just read the forum. Lots of info. Sometime more than you'd want to know. LOL.
