Is it enough for remote working?Internet in my place in Cartagena has been bad lately, so I would get a backup plan like having a hotspot with google fi which has unlimited data. AT&T has an unlimited Latin America $70 a month plan. Bogota is better than Cartagena with internet but the companies running the internet are pretty much the same in both cities.
But just so you know, I have always been able to get my work on the internet done in Colombia as long as I stay in the big cities. If you go 50 to 100 miles outside of Bogota though, you will have issues.

For airbnb booking, ask first for the speed. Many have 100 mb or higher which is minimum I must have but many have low speed like 20 mb, so ask first.

I've been in Airbnbs that had shared routers, also been in some where the router was fine but something was wrong with the modem or cables and internet was spotty. So I don't think an automatic assumption that internet in Airbnbs is great is a safe assumption especially if it is very important. As a generality, perhaps a stand alone airbnb unit might have a better chance than a cheap hotel, perhaps yes. But if my work depended on it I would want confirmation. Some hotels have co-working spaces, for example, and that gives you a lot more assurance of good internet and some other business center supports.
WiFi in AirBnBs are dependent on the individual owner. I've stayed in different AirBnBs in the same building that had radically different WiFi performance. For instance, one AirBnB had blazing fast WiFi while one a few floors down had it's own router but the Internet was so slow I had issues with VoIP. The connection is dependent on what the owner is paying for, so the individual router can be a good thing or a bad thing.

What I said is based on facts and experiences. It's not complicated. A hotel will have a wifi router on each floor or worse to be shared by multiple rooms, and depending on where your room is the signal may drop. That may be ok for pure mongers but if you're running something serious online like a content creator, working from home then this doesn't work.
Colombia happens to be a top country for digital nomad because they have reliable internet service and barely any power outages. This is probably why I'm not in the Dr right now. Most apartments in the Dr don't even come with work desks, plus mult outtages incl power.
I've been in Col for the past 7 months pretty much, and only had zero power outtages, maybe two internet svc issues that were resolved in minutes. Having your own router and hardwired connection is required anyway for most remote job, and even if using wifi, your own connection will be secured, stronger and not shared.
I work in finance plus I'm a daytrader so aint no way I'd risk connecting to a public wifi LOL.
I have been in some hotels that have an ethernet port for wired connection, maybe 1/10; but none come with routers. But all private apts do. It's day and night and not everything requires a debate.

Both Bogota and Medellin have plenty of those. They cost anywhere from 600 k - 2 M pesos a month. Either your own small office, a desk, or a private booth. Costs vary depending on hours.
But those are needed if you rent a room cheap somewhere or a noisy area where you can't work. In a normal apartment with your own connection you can save that 2 M pesos per month. Heck my full apartment costs me 2. 5 M a month LOL. Estrato 5, 24/7 security, full kitchen, living room area everything. I can kick back and work in my drawers LOL.

Flight was on time and I breezed through immigration. What luck. BTW I did see a line for biomig at arrivals, anybody know if foreigners can use it? If the immigration line wasn't so short at the time, I would've given it a shot.
Also, I was a bit worried about altitude sickness but it doesn't seem to be affecting me.

1st day in BOG was great (see prev post). 2nd day not so much.
I went to Santa Fe around lunch. What a dump. I knew it'the be sketchy and not a nice part of town, but to actually experience it was a bit depressing. I've read the reports here going back 6 months, and nobody mentioned all the feces on the sidewalks. Makes sense though, who would? Reminded me of downtown San Francisco. Regardless, I was here to sightsee! I saw plenty of chicas while wandering around. Saw some of the roughest chicas ever, but I suppose that comes with the territory. Today I checked out some parks and scoped out areas for future stays. I liked the area around parque Virrey.

Bogota Trip Update:

Northern Club Girls: I would be lying if I said I had the name to these places and I haven't been to one since last summer. I found the girls to be just a tier better than what you would find in a place like Fiebre on a Saturday night. For those who have been to Brazil, think of it as like Centaurus in Rio. You're paying a lot but the quality tends to be there, for the most part. None of the places are even close to the famous Scandallo is Sao Paulo. You're going to pay a lot in these places and they absolutely will try to rip you off even more so than the waiters in the SF clubs. They will try to add drinks to your bill or charge super inflated prices like 60 k for a beer. The girls themselves will ask ridiculous prices like 600 k for the hour on top of a take out fee. Just the thought of the hassle it takes to have a good experience here stresses me out so I don't even pursue it. I went with a buddy last year just to show him and he loved it, but that is only because I took care of all of the logistics. If you want to find these clubs, simply just walk anywhere Zona Rosa and Zona T on any given night. A tout will approach you saying something like "chicas chicas" and show you the way.
Online Escort Girls: La Celestina. Eroticas Bogota. You don't need more than that. Prices are listed on their website and they are very reasonable for what you get. Additionally, these agencies don't scam, in my experience. The girls are quite attractive and you can ask the company to send you someone who will do what you like, just ask. Yes of course you could use the local sites like photoprepagos, mileroticos, or pasionprepagos but then you have to take the time to sort through the trash, read reviews, and then actually schedule with the girl. That is a lot of effort and moving pieces to save what amounts to be 20 to 30 bucks. If that is your thing, no judgment. Putting the effort into it to save a few bucks just isn't worth it to me.

Not much to write about but a few updates for those in the area or who will be coming to the area soon.
As I said in my previous report, the clubs and streets are open. It was pretty slow on Sunday night compared to Saturday night but I expect that is because of the obvious. The only clubs with a decent amount of girls in them were Paisas and Venus. Paisas had better quality by a long shot, but still not that great. Venus usually doesn't have many good looking girls in general but I still go check it out anyways. Troya, Fiebre, and Atunis were practically empty. Not many girls were out on the streets either. Lots of police were patrolling and patting people down, which I have seen them do occasionally.
One of the girls I saw in Paisas was working in front of one of the short time motels. She was decent looking, it was late, and I was tired so I decided to go see her. As expected, she quoted 60 k (compared to what would have been 120 k in Paisas itself) and we went inside. She asked if I wanted a BBBJ and I sure said, expecting her to ask for more cash. From there you can find a regular if you want. It seems like your turn will be every 10 days or so as long as they do it. You can follow the info on the Bogota website and type in your address to see which day https://bogota.gov.co/.
If your building does not have water tanks, then you will not have water. If your building does. Then you will either have water the whole time, or your building might delay switching the water tanks on until later in the day. Or it will run out depending on your building.

Don't stay in these kinds of places and complain to the owners. I wrote a post about this before. If its truly for the protection of foreigners, the exact same thing can be accomplished by just providing ID at reception of the building. It makes more sense and its easier for everyone. And most buildings already do it that way. The only logical reason why I can see for this policy is that they are trying to cut down on sex tourism. Don't stay at these places. How are you going to go out at night and bring someone home when you have to message the host on airbnb at 2 am in the morning and wait for them to reply. You should have complained to airbnb. I complained to my airbnb host and he refunded for the days I had left on my reservation. I did however ask beforehand if visitors were permitted and my host confirmed that they were. I argued that having to write to him for each visitor is not the common understanding of "permitted" and I should have been informed of this procedure beforehand.

I don't want to sound alarmist. But if you are booking a trip this month / next month. You should probably book a hotel or airbnb with an easy cancellation policy. I would assume that most would be easy to refund if there was no electricity. But, if you are here for a few days and then the power is out for 24 hours, I could see it being a hassle to get a refund.

I don't want to sound alarmist. But if you are booking a trip this month / next month. You should probably book a hotel or airbnb with an easy cancellation policy. I would assume that most would be easy to refund if there was no electricity. But, if you are here for a few days and then the power is out for 24 hours, I could see it being a hassle to get a refund.

So I just wanted to confirm then that yes the water issue in Bogota is very real and when you cannot shower and are stinking up the joint, just remember the people of Cartagena are with you. They may not stand to close to you but they are with you.There are 2 reservoirs in the outskirts that services Bogota and have had much less rain in the recent weeks. I was in Bogota in March and April and I had 5 straight days both times without any rain, a rarity in Bogota, in fact the weather was very pleasant. Had something to do with El Nino or something to that effect. My experience in Bogota is it won't be too long before the drenching rains begin. I checked with my hotel and they have 'tanque de reserva' reserve tank so no problem check with you hotel or AirBNB to see if they have them.
I left the first day of water rationing April 12 so I'm curious with the boots on the ground if the rationing has affected the restaurants or Casinos and malls?

I haven't been in Colombia for years so I have zero knowledge about where and how to find good dentists who charges reasonable prices.You need a good dentist where you live. Many visits are required, normally 3-4 visits to get the best result. It is taking me about 9 months. Implants need to be screwed in, then healing time of 4 months, then checked, then abutment put in place, then regular dentist must take impressions for crown to fit on top of abutment.
Unless you plan on travelling to Colombia many times. And what if you have infections or problems? Sure you can get a Costco cheap product, or one that will last a life time.

They have many branches around Bogota. Seems cheaper than others because they produce their own titanium screws which apparently is the most expensive part of the whole implant process.

So I mostly went to their location and only had like 1 bad experience where I paid for 1 hour and she was trying to get me out after 5 minutes. Related to the "not pre-pay" - I have never had an issue with doing that with the santa fe clubs, santa fe street girls, and casas. They have to pay the room and / or the base fee. I don't fuck in the clubs anymore and I don't see a lot of people going upstairs. Too expensive. Most girls says they make more money doing shows.

1) definitely do an agency if your looking for a specific body type to sorta check that box. I would maybe do this the first night so you get the process down and so you can use it as a backup if a seeking situation that falls through.
2) try Tantra Spa and / the other day time casas in Chapinero for at least 1 or 2 days. I've found some gems and you get to see before you buy. So I recommend this to kinda hedge your bet.
3) read back in my post history. I've made a few posts about my strategies and some talk tracks. Now it's what worked for me. And I obviously don't know your style. But if you have the funds it's totally worth giving it a go. But if you put all your eggs in one basket you could end up disappointed.

So first time I was in Colombia, I was at the Hotel Ibis. Nice place but rooms are Motel 6 like and most women behaved like I was a typical monger. I did not dress up and was projecting that I was making little money. By chance, I moved into the nicer hotels but not much more expensive (Dann Carlton is five star and like $90 a night), started dressing nicer, and the stress level of the women went down. That said, do not think you are go to Colombia and get a 10. It is a far different thing to think what I said is true versus acting like it is true and feeling that is true.
