Simple question for all the Cali pros, I'm having trouble finding street address looking at WT69's fantastic list. For example,

Fantasias Night Club, Av. 2DN #24 N-113,

Albaricoque Club, Av. 2EN #24N-76.

What is the difference between Av. 2DN and 2EN? And what is #24N-113? Does #24 means calle 24? And 113 is the number? Meaning house number 113 on Av 2DN above the junction with calle 24N?

Lonely planet doesn't even label its streets. Looks like Cali is much bigger than what Lonely planet boxes in in their map.

The theory is simple, but in practice the steets are complicated. Above the river Cali is North, so Av 2DN is north of the river. The number part, #24N-113 means between Calle 24 and 25, with 113 probably being closer to the Calle 25 end of the block. How did I know that Ave2DN is a Carrera? I search for the that address in Cali Colombia in Google maps, and then looked at the streets around it. Avenide means it is a main boulevard, or in this case, a street parallel to a main boulevard.

This is basic Colombia street logic. The complication in Calli is that the river is not straight, it has big curves in it. At those points, they have to introduce 1 to 6 intermediate street names (AV2AN, AV2BN, Av2CN.). It may seem that the address must be close to where you are standing, but it could actually be quite a long walk. And sometimes the streets make a sharp confusing turn, in order to keep parallel to the river.

The first time I looked for Clinica Doctor Amor on foot, it was a very long, confusing walk. Yes, Ave 2N runs along the riverfront where Clinica Doctor Amor is located, but in other places the riverfront street has different names. Again, Google maps is your friend, or take a taxi the first time.

Can you find a decent hotel in Cali with AC for $40 or under and which part of town are those hotels located? Any website info would be greatly appreciated.

I stay in el centro in Medellin. As long as my hotel is cozy I can stay in a dodgy area no problem.

Maybe ask for a from towards the back? Isn't there any time of year that isn't humid as fuck? I would be coming from NYC in August trying to escape it. I usually go to Lima or BA at that time but prices aren't in my favor at the moment. Quito is a no go due to altitude. If I had the choice I would do BA but that is a 6k month at the very least.

The next tour is March 24 till 27. I would like to come a day early get a lay of the land (pun intended) and then check into this tour. It is set up for 25 to one ratio so american men can meet a wife. I can say I do have that intention if it is the right girl but would love to party with them and see what happens on the free side of things. BUT.

My back up plan is that if it is not what I thought I would like to head out to the monger spots. If it is good then I would simply check out the monger spots aftward.

Just be prepared to get overwhelmed by all the chics you will meet and have pen paper for their email and number.

In case you don't get a chance to meet them for date that trip.

I have been to Cali many times and 32k is about the going rate. You can always make friends with one of the taxistas outside the hotel (tora de Cali)

They will be more than happy to pick you up and drive you to your destination for that amount. $100K is about 195K in Colombia that is alot to pay!Just Got to Cali today- You can take a shuttle from the airport to the bus terminal (non-stop) for 4mil then catch a cab to your hotel. Cabs lined up right there.

It's 20 minutes ride in a comfortable van with all the Calenas and other Colombians who just flew in and want to be economical. Then you get to the SKARY terminal (have your knife ready) and there is a line of cabs.

But I wouldn't reccomend it if you look vulnerable or are frightened easily. But on the other hand it's really not a big deal. Also I live in Bogota so Cali is like a walk in the park for me

Yes I did consider MDE. But I monger frequent and all over the world. I get tired of all the pfp on full blast all the time. I was wanting to come meet straight up girls for dates and who knows. Possibly more. But in between or after the parties I would hit the suggested spots for some pfp. I have no trouble meeting girls. I just figured these guys pack them in and everyone is kinda there for the same reason. It sorts out the chicks that are looking for money upfront. Because that can be found quite easy.

The Mansions sound fun in MDE. So is it like a big F-fest frat houses or what? I want to go to Columbia here real soon just not sure on the city and where the best time can be had. The parties look fun at TLC but 1000 is hefty. I think it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Any other input or other venues or advice for a week long trip is greatly appreciated. The boards are overwhelming and the info is great. But when I ask certain newbie style questions I hate the RTFF answers.

Anyhow. I was thinking arrive a few days early. Monger up some spots. TLC party for 4 days it is. Then stay a few after and run through all the girls I met there? I'm sure those ones won't charge because they will be auditioning for a ticket to the USA. I may just meet the girl of my dreams. Or have fun trying! I'm up for alt routes or ideas.

I used to travel to Cali alot years ago. I am interested in going back. I am a gringo but 100% fluent in Spanish. How safe is it now in Colombia for Americans? I remember Cali had the most beautiful girls I had ever seen.

Let me know. Cali used to be the center of attention in Colombia. The famous passionate Calenas was what drove me to Colombia years back. It looks like the attention has shifted to Medellin in the past few years. Even the Cali thread has become much much quieter.

I seldom felt any danger while in Cali except a couple times while I was in taxi with my novia passing through some rough part of town and el centro. But Cali is definitely not a place for faint hearted.

Cali is a great city, but no way is the crime level comparable to St Louis or Cincinnati. Colombia is the most dangerous country in South America and Cali is probably the most dangerous city in Colombia.

Please, go to Cali. Just don't go with the impression you don't need to take serious precautions against crime. Much more than you would in most other cities.

Good post Artful. Though I think right now, Venezuela is the most dangerous country in S. A. And from what I've heard Buenaventura is more dangerous than Cali, but that's just nitpicking.

Anyway your point about Cali and Colombia in general should not be taken lightly. Yes a USA City like say, St. Louis, has plenty of rough neighborhoods. But the key is if you live there or if you at least speak the language, you know how to avoid danger. For most of us, that's not the case in Cali or Medellin. We're rich Gringos on their turf and worse yet we're there to bone their women.

However, I have become quite good at finding the more upscale parts of a city quickly, and so I used my first tactic, just ask where the Juan Valdez cafe is.You did well, indeed, by walking up to Juan Valdes (sexta has become a real nasty place, in my humble opinion). Av 9, between 10 and 18 is the Granada area, where the nicer restaurants, bars and some fashion boutiques are located. Aside from Faro there's a couple of joints whorth checking, some more expensive than others, but mostly interesting. More to the west there's Orange bar (corner of Av 9 and 13, upstairs) , where groups of young babes hang out and have cocktails.

There's still another "Granada-like" area you might also want to check out. El Penon area, located more to the west (close to InterContinental and Dann hotels) is also full of nice restaurants and a couple of trendy bars (serving martinis and other cocktails mainly). And if things shouldn't work out there, there's always Escoces club (pros) just a couple of blocks away.

I was a bit reluctant to come to Cali as I heard it was quite dirty and I imagined a colombian version of Tijuana.

OK, I will not go to Cali. I visit Medellin one or two times every year. Is it worth spending money and time to go to Armenia and Pereira from Medellin for meeting pro-girls? Or would Medellin suffice?


Over drinks with BayBoy last night we talked about what our general impressions of Cali were.

So far it's been extremely quiet on Av sexta, but I am sure that's because it is low season, it's been raining each night, and we have not hit the weekend yet.

I talked to a few touts, and they say Friday and Saturday will be very busy, but not even Thursday will see much action.

There are a few obvious prepagos sitting at tables in some of the patios along sexta, but sure nothing to write home about.

After 3 months touring around Colombia (this being my 3rd or 4th 3 month trip) , staying in most places for at least 1 week, more than 1 month in Medellin, here's my opinion:

Medellin is the place to be for pros, and if you stay long enough for non pros.

Pereira sucks for pros IMO. More expensive than Medellin, only 1 worthwhile high end club. If you like adventure and risk and low end chicas, pereira could be a goldmine.

Armenia and Manizales are kind of cool places to visit, but very little pro action. Non pros could be great, but you'd need to spend weeks in either place, and I just can't see it. A short trip to either is not worth it unless you really just want to see some sights (Manizales is kind of nice, and Armenia is close to salento).

Cali is great for non pros. I was just there 6 days and didn't get to see a lot of P4P places as non pros kept me busy, and happy. I actually didn't have time for all the non pros (met on LatinAmericanCupid)

After 3 months touring around Colombia (this being my 3rd or 4th 3 month trip) , staying in most places for at least 1 week, more than 1 month in Medellin, here's my opinion:

Medellin is the place to be for pros, and if you stay long enough for non pros.

Pereira sucks for pros IMO. More expensive than Medellin, only 1 worthwhile high end club. If you like adventure and risk and low end chicas, pereira could be a goldmine.

Armenia and Manizales are kind of cool places to visit, but very little pro action. Non pros could be great, but you'd need to spend weeks in either place, and I just can't see it. A short trip to either is not worth it unless you really just want to see some sights (Manizales is kind of nice, and Armenia is close to salento).

Cali is great for non pros. I was just there 6 days and didn't get to see a lot of P4P places as non pros kept me busy, and happy. I actually didn't have time for all the non pros (met on LatinAmericanCupid)

I have found it to have a huge number of P4P places. The key to this city is at first you have to find a good guide. On my first trip we found a great taxi driver who we hired for the whole day. He took us to so many places that our heads were spinnig. We had to call it a night as we were so overloaded with info that my head hurt. Not only was there much action, it was also very deverse with any kind of action most men would dare to try.

On my last trip there last Feb. I was visiting a non pro who I was taking to San Andres. One night after dropping her off at her house for the night I quite by accident stumbled on to a women eating at a outdoor food spot. After a little conversation we made a night of it. This is rare for me to get non pros without using a online srevice. In MDE I have yet to get a non pro, and I have been there many more times than Cali.

As for prices compared to MDE, I found not much difference.

Medellin was awesome in 1999 but so was places like Caracus.

Medellin in like 2008 was good.

Medellin now I only give an OK rating. I feel like some of the guys that experienced Cuba in good old days but only to see its decline.

I can only imagine what those early days must've been like. Too bad that globalization has taken with it to other places a lot of the stuff so many of us, especially in this forum, are trying to avoid in Sex Prison (I. E. Americanized Women). I totally agree with you in that Bogota has become another semi-Sex Prison. Making it two with Medellin. Who knows which other city will be next in Colombia? I agree with you in that it is hard to compare one place to another since YMMV and factors such as age, language, game, luck, looks, personality, financial status go heavily into play. I find that this has become overwhelmingly true in the countries in Latin America that I have visited.

I guess what drew me to MDE was the Southern California type of weather, albeit, with a ton of rain. The south of the city is spectacular. No denying that either. As it's also where most gringos and mafiosos end up hanging out or living at. This will inevitably drive up prices anywhere such combination exists (think Costa Rica, Panama, etc.).

My beef with Medellin, aside from what I consider to be stratospherically high levels of drama, be. S, head games, self-centered behavior (a la American / Americanized women style) by its no doubt and otherwise beautiful women. Is the amount of racism that takes place there. Given how, for the most part, its inhabitants are of mostly European descent, where in many ways they seem to resemble the white tourists themselves (particularly in the south side of the city which is really the only place most members of this board would be interested in visiting aside from las casas in el centro). This adds a bit of disadvantage when one is not of equal skin color standings. Unless you are Asian or African American, where by association, you will be counted and considered to be an Americano.

So you have people in Medellin thinking that they are God's gift to Colombians much the same way Cuban Americans in Miami and Argentinians elsewhere believe to be to mankind as well. I know that its people have come a long way from the days of Pablo Escobar but Medellin is still by no means compared to other, bigger and more modern cities in Latin America as Sao Paulo, Santiago de Chile, and Buenos Aires are. But don't tell them that! LOL.

Bottom line is that when I leave Sex Prison for greener pastures, I certainly don't want to end up in a semi-Sex Prison type of city like Medellin, San Jose, Panama City, or Caracas are. Instead, I want to go to the lands of milk and honey (if such places still exist) where being a regular guy (granted, not too overweight or unkept) can still land you a non-pro with relative ease, costs, and time. These conditions are crucial given our mostly limited time and resources when traveling abroad. I mean, who has seven months to be trying to hook-up with a local chica when one can only travel for no more than a few weeks out of the year? Unless otherwise, Medellin and Bogota are certainly out of the question, if you asked me.


Cyberdas, I don't disagree with a lot of what you said (and I sure am not offended, I have no skin in the game of one place vs another).

It's always hard to compare one place to another, so much depends on what you are looking for, how old you are, how good your spanish is, and pure luck / timing.

But I think for the average guy coming from the USA for a week, MDE is nicer city, easier to meet pros, more choice, better looking women.

I have to repeat I missed getting to the higher end places in Cali, and maybe if I had seen them I would change my mind? But even so, it's like MDE is set up for the average guy to have a good time, and Cali you have to work at it, and you need to be more careful too, IMO and experience.

In MDE I only once paid a girl 200k, the rest I paid under 150k, and that's for several hours at my place. That's a pretty good deal for girls I'd rate as '8's more or less.

Of course there are all kinds of much cheaper places in MDE and in Cali, and even in Bogota, but I don't usually frequent those places other than to see if I am missing something.

The bottom line for me is the question, would I go back? So, sure, I'd go back to Cali, mainly for the non pros, but I am not dying to get back there.

I do agree the MDE women are starting to get like the women from Bogota, which is a bad thing. Prices are bound to follow too I suppose. Maybe we can both agree Bogota now officially sucks and is more expensive than back home? (at least at any of the north places).

In the end, I think the debate about which place to go is fun and interesting, but really, it all depends on so many factors that you never know who will enjoy which place more.

My main conclusion is, if you want to have a good time in the smaller towns, you need to stay a lot longer, and then you could have the time of your life. But most guys here only have a short time, so the bigger cities are more set up for that.

I also miss the early days in Cuba, and in Bogota. Ah well still have some good memories.

Not sure where the 'next' place is boys, but I'll keep looking, cheers.

I don't go for the, let's say 'less expensive' options generally, but I noticed a HUGE area all around where Flores Frescas is in pereira, and if you dare to walk around there it seemed to have bars with chicas outside on every block, more like 2 to 3 places every block. I have to agree. The Santa Marta and El Rodadero area is probably the filthiest area in all of Colombia. The girls like Rudy said in his post are all fat and ugly, and many do not even have teeth. Nobody dances international / NY style salsa there at all. Chango is the big club and there are 2-3 smaller and lesser popular spots that only fill up after Chango is full. Juanchito is a municipality that is located outside the northeastern edge of Calí proper. The club district is just east of the Rio Cauca. Once you cross the Rio Cauca on the Carrera 8 bridge you're in Juanchito.

Cyberdas, I don't disagree with a lot of what you said (and I sure am not offended, I have no skin in the game of one place vs another).

It's always hard to compare one place to another, so much depends on what you are looking for, how old you are, how good your spanish is, and pure luck / timing.

But I think for the average guy coming from the USA for a week, MDE is nicer city, easier to meet pros, more choice, better looking women.

I have to repeat I missed getting to the higher end places in Cali, and maybe if I had seen them I would change my mind? But even so, it's like MDE is set up for the average guy to have a good time, and Cali you have to work at it, and you need to be more careful too, IMO and experience.

In MDE I only once paid a girl 200k, the rest I paid under 150k, and that's for several hours at my place. That's a pretty good deal for girls I'd rate as '8's more or less.

Of course there are all kinds of much cheaper places in MDE and in Cali, and even in Bogota, but I don't usually frequent those places other than to see if I am missing something.

The bottom line for me is the question, would I go back? So, sure, I'd go back to Cali, mainly for the non pros, but I am not dying to get back there.

I do agree the MDE women are starting to get like the women from Bogota, which is a bad thing. Prices are bound to follow too I suppose. Maybe we can both agree Bogota now officially sucks and is more expensive than back home? (at least at any of the north places).

In the end, I think the debate about which place to go is fun and interesting, but really, it all depends on so many factors that you never know who will enjoy which place more.

My main conclusion is, if you want to have a good time in the smaller towns, you need to stay a lot longer, and then you could have the time of your life. But most guys here only have a short time, so the bigger cities are more set up for that.

I also miss the early days in Cuba, and in Bogota. Ah well still have some good memories.

Not sure where the 'next' place is boys, but I'll keep looking, cheers.

just got back from cali, it is becoming very "caliente" as my suegro likes to say, dangerous! please please dress down if you decide to go, i can't stress how important it is to not attract attention to yourself at all costs. a moto drove up to this suv in front of us, the guy knocked on the glass with a snub 38 and says pass me your wallet, blackberry and watch, the guy does then speeds off, simple as that. no chaleco, helmet and license plate bent upwards. we were all in shock and couldn't believe what we just saw. another day in the barrio.

always call a secured cab when possible! if decide you have to take a cab off the streets sit in the front, look for an older gentleman, watch for random phone calls incoming our outgoing, try and gauge where you need to return to and make sure you are heading in the right direction, make sure the cab driver turns the meter on, watch his hands, don't go to centro dusk or later. cali is not the south of medellin where gringos walk around drunkingly feeling a false sense of security.

on another note there is this new casa in the south in front of the "terminal" called geishas or asias. something like that. i would stay away. it has non structured prices, you pay 20k for the room for an hour and then negotiate with the girl for the hour which ranges from 60k-100k hr. 2 things. the guy tells me the beers are 5k so there is 4 of us including the 2 girls. they ask for their beers micheladas. so the guy comes back with the 4 beers 2 of ours are in cans and their 2 are in like 8oz glasses. i pass the guy a 20k note, he tells me that the girls drinks are 13k and i was like what the fuck and this was outrageous for adding lime and salt but most of all why did you tell me 5k and then not tell me that girls beers micheladas are 13k? #2 i asked the guy how much the multa was which is the take out charge for a chica when they are working. he tells me 50mil so me and this chica negotiate a great tln fee and was willing to pay the 50k for her and go to give him the 50k. he comes back 5 minutes later and then tells me he made a "mistake" and the multa was 70k. i told him and the chica no gracias!" the chica was upset, so was i and here i am writing this little story. i didn't get extra loud or furious even though i wanted to because they need to unlock the door to let you out and i didn't want them to shake me down.

I have been there on two ocasions, one weekday and one Saturday and both times there were some 4. 5 girls and only very few customers. On the weekday it was just me and two drunks at the bar, one of whom was so wasted that he kept falling off the bar stool. Very nice interior design and you can still smell the fresh paint on the walls. Some of the girls are definitely above average compared to the average casa girl, but a couple of the girls I talked to on both visits told me that they normally work at the sister location Tangas Club (same owner) where prices are considerably lower, I believe it's 50. 000/30 min. And 80. 000 / hour and no entrance fee. The owner had simply asked them to work there that one night since just two of the "supposed" deluxe girls showed up for work.

What I would do is first have a look at Tangas Club and in case you don't see anyone you like then go to the Deluxe.

No, much better to stay with the few watering holes that I have discovered, casas that are not on the Cali List, that don't advertise and see virtually no foreigners! For me those places are the most interesting simply because this is where you are more likely to find that unpretentious, down-to-earth chica with super nice attitude, the proverbial diamond in the rough. Anyway, so the madam told me that they had just opened a new casa the day before that and that they were offering promotional prices of 25k / 30 min. And 35k / 60 min. 5k less that this place. So I went and to my great surprise I found not just one but two girls, one 18 and one just turned 19, that were absolutely more than doable! Obviously at those prices it is not exactly top model material and sure there were some fuglies among them, but what I liked the most was the pleasent, relaxed and cheerful atmosphere between everyone. I'm reading thru the forum to get an idea of what hotel and what area I want to be in. So I see that I need to be around La Sexta and Granada areas, assuming these are close to one another.

When looking at hotel recommendations, I've found some posts for Cali Plaza, Four Points Sheraton, and Hotel Plaza Versalles, recommending them for being close to the action. But when I look at the hotel locations on tripadvisors map, Hotel Plaza Versalles is placed well off from the many other cluster of hotels that are I believe north of the river. Plaza Versalles shows up around Autooriental and K23 close to Hotel Jardin Azul and 3km NE of hotel don jaime. So I'm not sure if tripadvisor map has them placed wrong or these are 2 seperate areas for night life. Basically my question is if I choose to stay at Cali Plaza, the 4Points Sheraton or other in the area. Am I going to be in the area I need to be for nightlife and p4p action, or do I need to be farther south?

I want some insight from Cali specialists. I just got back home from my trip to Medellin. I usually write a very descriptive trip report in Medellin section. This time I may or may not be able to do so due to work schedules. I am what you may call a Medellin veteran but I specialize in high end expensive pussy in Medellin. By that I mean I do not mind paying 300, 000 to 400, 000 for overnight with a Paisa.

Anyways my last night in Medellin I got hooked with a Calena and believe me I had such a great time with this Calena that I was thinking may be I should re-visit Cali.

I have been to Cali once before during which my scheduled trip was for about 5 days but I only stayed 2 days and then left Cali. Reason being all the high end places in Cali were to me a rip-off. I could not get girls in Cali to stay overnight at reasonable prices and then again girls were much darker in colour and much thicker and all plastic. I like natural looking beautiful hot girls who love sex and by that I really mean girls who would love to have sex as many times as possible in one night. Further I like girls who have light skin colour not necessarily white but they have to be Morenas at max. Nothing against black girls but I just have my personal taste and prefer Morenas.

So Cali veterans can you help me and let me know if my last trip to Cali my assessment was wrong that most Cali girls I found were thick. Some clubs I went in Cali to were asking much higher prices for overnight and even at that the girls were trying to rip-off.

Stopped by after arriving on Sunday evening. From the Sheraton exit to the main road, turn left to the road just before the river (Ave 2) & make another left. Keep looking to the left and within 5 minutes you'll see the Funeraria; it's right past that.

When I entered, first thing I saw was a copule of cops in uniform sitting, drinking & watching the soccer game. About half a dozen other guys as well though they seemed more interested in TV than women. Only about 3 - 4 girls working.

After a few Club Colombias, I picked a 23 y / o & we sat & talked a bit. Then bought a quarter bottle (Pancha or Quadra) for 60, 000 COP or so & from there to a small room where we had a very good time for about an hour, with some very personal dancing & touching. Everything doesn't come off in there (cameras overhead) but overall was a very good experience.

Then to the bedroom for another hour. Another 60k or so but used the whole hour with lots of play, DFK, and an overall good time. Her oral skills were excellent & finished with a BBBJCIM. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Spent a total of 3 hours & about $110 or so. Of course she gave me her number (don't remember her name) & I left quite happy.

BTW. They close at 10PM on Sundays, about the time I left. You'd better have at least some basic Spanish skills or it's going to be difficult. On the other hand, if you have blue eyes you'll be the center of attention, just about everywhere in Colombia.

Visited ysterday. From the Sheraton, outside, turn left to 2nd Ave (just before the river) and take a left. Pass Club Liz and in 4 or 5 blocks it'll be on your left. Got to know the address though, there's no signs. It's just past an intersection and past a little car lot that is actually on the corner.

In response to an earlier report that said there were a bunch of guys & no chicas. I think you just didn't stick around long enough. Same thing when I visited about noon. But I waited 7 - 8 minutes and they marched about ten gals in & I picked a 33 y/o flaca with bolt-ons. Seems the Colombianos like to visit to watch the girls (for free) & will sit & watch for hours at a time.

Anyway, had a great time, did everything I wanted. Spent a total of an hour & a half & left a happy camper. Overall a good selection & a great time. Recommended.

MelNothing that I know of, the last guy who was doing that was murdered in front of Tienda Vieja about 2 years ago. Cali mansion was shut down. But on my bus trips I always stopped at Pereira for a few days to go to the mineral hot springs, outside of town. Obviously flying is much faster. As far as Cali is concerned, stay on the north side. Its the more affluent side, plus thats where the action is concentrated. Its safe to walk around in, lots of bars, restaurants and casas.

There's a lot of cafeteria-style restaurants. They serve up huge meals (rice, beans, salad, potato, fried banana and the main course etc.) for like $5000 pesos.

And most of all go to Dr. Amor, its the premier spot in town.

However, they are not marked, you need to know the addresses from the Cali list. The best if Clinica De Amor, which is on the Ave 2N facing the river. I used to stay in Aparthotel del Rio, about 2 blocks away on the same street. Medium priced. Pool. Nice. You could stay there one night then look around for a cheaper hotel in the area. There are lots. I also stayed at Pelican Larry Hostel, nearer Ave Sexta. Several casas nearby. I had a private room, but dorm is much cheaper. Didn't have a problem bringing girls back to either place, although I didn't bring any obvious streetwalkers into either place.

I tipped the maid daily 3k. 4 k pesos. Then started to give her $10k a week.

She is sweet lady who goes a long way for you, trust me!

I was in Cali 2Xs last year (March and September). I heard and read all the crime and security warnings at that time from the State Department and police organizations. All I can say is it felt perfectly safe for me to walk around the city. I mainly was in the north end, and walk all over the place during the daytime. I was never robbed or saw anyone get robbed.

I also walked around El Centro a few times during the daytime. Never had a problem. At night I was usually in the Ave. Sexta area up to Ave. 8. There were always a lot of people around and it felt safe to me.

Bar La Veinte and Clun Sonero are on the south side of town. I always walked to those places, its a little dicey area, but I always went there in the afternoon. I was told not to be there after 8pm.

I had spent a nice evening with a prepago in Bogota, done some Amazon travel around Leticia (no mongering unfortunately, though I saw some hot dancing on the Brazilian side of the border) , and small town southern Colombia was fun. Until I took a fall while hiking and sprained my knee.

With Cali next on my agenda I had some concerns. I'm usually of the mind that by taking the normal precautions one would when out in an urban area I will be fine, so in planning my trip I had no reservations about checking out Cali, despite its reputation for crime. But with my busted knee I figured that I would be less able to respond either with fight or flight if I got into any trouble, so I decided to enlist some help. I had seen reports on the Cali Castle, so before I headed to Cali I got the contacts for the proprietor Juan Carlos from their website (now at.

) and called to see what he could do for me.

While the Castle was occupied for use by a film crew (what kind of film, hmmm) , friendly Juan Carlos, whose English made our interactions very easy, said that he could give me a transfer to my guesthouse and set me up with a guide. Juan Carlos picked me up at the bus station and gave me a nice orientation to things in Cali, and introduced me to his cousin Carlos who would show me around (JC couldn't as he was busy showing around a visiting group of Americans). Carlos turned out to be a very nice guy who had lived many years in New York, and he did help with transportation issues and with language when necessary, etc, but he had been pressed into service at the last minute (since contacting JC was such a last minute thing) and actually wasn't a major mongerer himself. As a result I set the itinerary, but I did enjoy having a good wingman for a change (I gave him $80 for accompanying me that day and night).

After checking out some tourist sights (including a historic church where the glammed-up girls arriving for a wedding were some of the hottest I had ever seen) , we headed for Clinica Dr. Amor in the late afternoon. I'm happy to see recent reports that it hasn't lost its luster; this place was the highlight of Cali for me. Escoces night club was the last stop for the night. We sipped our drinks as we watched the girls in bikinis seated at tables with the clientele, usually in small groups. One hot girl (whom I had a short and unsuccessful negotiation with after the club ended, in part because I needed to find a short time hotel as my guesthouse was not guest friendly) did disrobe briefly near closing time, but that was it. After I checked in at my hotel, I walked 2 blocks to the Ave. Sexta. While I had expected a wide, trendy boulevard, the Ave. Sexta was a mediocre street.

Around 7pm, I arrived at 'Bar La 20 (veinte). ' It was a seedy neighborhood, but the bar was a decent place. There were 2 security guards in front of the door, checking customers' bodies. Later they became friendly to me and asked many questions about me. The place was very big with a lot of ceiling fans. The place was packed. There were probably more than 100 guys and 40-50 girls. They had a strip dance and live band music alternating every 30-40 minutes. A bottle of beer was 2. 5k pesos. All the girls, except one, had big asses, and many of them were fat (in Medellin standards). But, they may not look fat in the eyes of Cali locals. The locals and the girls at the bar came and taked to me, and they were very friendly. Two guys bought me a beer. I stayed at the bar for an hour, and left for Club Sonero, which was a block away.

A friendly security guard at Club Sonero welcomed me. As I entered Sonero, I saw only 3-5 girls and a few guys. So, I left Sonero and went back to La 20. In La 20, 20-30 girls came to me and offered a service. One of them was the girl, who was not fat (later she told me that she was a paisa from Medellin). I asked her for BBBJ, and she said no problem. So I paid 40k peso for o. 5 hr at a cashier-like counter. In the room, I asked for a massage on my foot, and she gave me a decent massage for about 10mnts. After that she massaged my junior and soon began BBBJ before I asked. Good report Matt from Cali. I was wondering if you went to Dr. Amor. Its a little classier than La Veinte. But its a casa. Avenida Sexta is really only 2 long blocks long, not that glittery. Cali isn't as exciting as Medellin, has 2 million residents, but there are some good hidden places.

On Club Sonero, did you go to the back. There's 3 rooms with chicas, if you look only in the first room you may only see 5, but you have to go to the back and there will be a lot more in the other rooms. I made that mistake the 1st time I went there.

I did not go to Dr. Amor, since I do not agree with their pricing. I went to La Picina (and adjacent casas) two times, and they were closed both the times. My fault, I went there daytime and Sunday evening. I think I saw all the rooms in Sonero. Nice atomosphere, but I saw few girls. I had a great time at La 20. Many girls came and talked to me. BTW, Vegetas, a vegetarian restaurant in El Centro Medellin, is great. You may like it. The info is on the Food thread. They have hamburger, lasagna, pasta bolognese, etc, all of which are meatless.
