docgo to docks at 7am or so, make sure you know what boat you are getting they vary alot. it could be like taking the slow boat to china, also those little boats on the east side of laguito and south side of the hilton you could charter yourself which would be quicker i would think avoiding rosario and coming and going on your own terms rather than the boats agenda, not to mention if the weather sucks you didn't buy a ticket in advance. also consider going to playa de punta arena just across from laguito, you could rent a jet ski and head over there for few hours or get little boat in laguito, not as nice as playa blanca but quick if the weather isn't cooperating.

Just made my first and second trips to Cartagena recently. Both short business trips.

First trip stayed at Santa Teresa. Expensive for my taste, but I wasn't paying for it. Glad to be staying in the old town area, very cool place. And thanks to Hillbilly69's map. It came in very handy. First night went to Isis and had some beers, but just didn't hit it off with any of the lovelies. Maybe I was tired. Next day walked around a bit, spotted a couple of potential locations to check out later but couldn't for the life of me find Queens. Anyway, went up on the old wall by the hotel just to relax and check out the scenery. A tall, young, beautiful Afro-Colombiana walks by, we exchange hellos and she keeps walking. At this point I just stay where I am and finally after 50m or so, she turns around to see me still looking at her. She walks back toward my location and stops about 10 feet from me like she's talking on her phone. Some colleagues were visiting Cartagena and after having dinner in the center, we decided to go have a beer in LDV and check the talent.

All week LDV has not been crowded at all. So my buddy and I were expecting Saturday night to have the best turn out but it was sh*t! The worse night all week. Definitely not standing room only as there were lots of empty chairs. Maybe about 25 girls and about the same number of guys? None of the girls would be stunners. Mostly 6 or 7's. I recently came back from my 4th trip. 5 days. This was alot different then my previous times, and in many ways it was the most fun. I met a really fun girl my last time there and had continued to talk occasionally, so on this trip it was more like going on vacation with your gf. She met me at the airport and off we went. Thanks to Juan, had an excellent ocean front apt on the 10th floor in Lagiuto. Immeiatly off to the cama and blah, blah, blah. Mi amor. They are truely very passionate women. And excellent actresses! Went to playa blanca the next day, was very nice. I recommend going on a weekday, I believe it is a little less crowded. Also, only get the ticket for transport, as we did, skip the "package", as I believe the extras are a waste of time. Thus you get more beach time. Finally came back, more drinks on the patio, play, nap, dinner, nap and off to Mister Babilla for dancing.

This was my first trip where I never set foot in LDV or took a beach girl. Although I do enjoy the weird vibe you get in ldv where all the girls eyes are on you and they want to fuck you / take your money.

I found an excellent place on the beach in laguito if you have a girl with you, it is the place with the red beds, it costs you nothing to use them, only to drink and / or eat there. It is very comfortable, relaxing and much more romantic then sitting in the plastic chairs, you can get bottle service like at the bars, reasonable prices, excellent house music, and most importantly, roped off so the touts on the beach can't bother you, yet you can still watch the people pass by.

Warning, only go to this place if you already have a girl with you, as you will fing that at least half the clientel is gay, which is not a problem for me, but you might feel awkward if you are by yourself. We wound up spending several afternoons here. The weather was excellent, high 80's no clouds the entire trip.

More of the same, dining at nice places in centro. Drinking / dancing. Do highly recommend lunch at Boneys (whole fish) on the beach, mure better quality than what you will get from the local touts on the beach (or the restaurant assoc. With the red bed place).

My frien napped for a few hours one afternoon in apt, so I went to the beach for a few beers, ran into tony, usually I can put up with his stuff, as he helped me out quite a bit my 1st two trips, but this was finally too much, I don't believe I will ever buy a beer from him again. Really a pain in the ass.

Went shopping for a few hours in centro. Got my friend some clothes. She really wanted a ring (she says no pressure or anything. Ha ha) I said maybe another time (right). These are really fun women, as long as you enjoy the fantasy, but don't allow yourself to truly believe it. As we are all really just a ticket out for them.

Well, if you take a taxi to laguito, from the airport, you will find various buildings, I recommend, Torres Del lago, Mirador Del laguito, and Playamar. They are close to the beach, and to the LDV. The college locals hang out in centro, mostly near the clock tower, or at the malls, CASTELLANA MALL or Caribe Plaza.

I will likely be making a monger vaca from June 29. July 4th and am waffling between Havana and Cartagena, I would love to hear some insight from seasoned mongers. As a bit of background, I have been to Medellin 3 times and Cartagena 2 times already, and speak enough basic spanish that I have never needed a translator or had difficulty communicating in Colombia.

Both Havana and Cartagena are great mongering locations-I have been to both many times; they are a lot of fun but very different. Havana, Cuba is of course comunist, and they are very much into protecting their reputation as a country with no hookers. Most of the chicas in Columbia work for certain establishments for a Contract and most hussle in the open. Cops in Cartagena will not care if you are with a chica in a cab-not in Havana. There are many hotels and apartments available for rent in Cartagena who don't mind you bringing in girls-in Havana you need to go to private casas that allow it. Hotels in Havana frequently will not allow guests and if they do they charge a lot of money. There is very little Plastic surgery in Cuba as they don"t have the products; there is plenty in Colombia. Food is super in Cartagena; not so much in Havana, unless you know where to go, But generally its about 30% cheaper in Havana for everything including chicas. There are a number of spots that rival LDV in Havana; like Jonny's; but its a bit of a game. You will not be able to leave in the same cab as the chica; however you can always give her the address of your casa. Havana is nice because there are many chicas you can pu on the streets, parks and public areas that are non-pros; they will go with you cause their family needs the$$-much more so than in Cartagena. Both places are good for parties but Cuba is lacking in many of the basics from the US embargo. Ie. Bring your own Rye whisky and their coke is crap. Well. It was a choice between CTG or Blackbeards, I hadn't been to either. Decided to hit CTG. HIt town Thursday, caught a cab to one of Juans apts. Secret Service Agents Sent Home from Summit for Alleged Misconduct.

(NewsCore). A number of US Secret Service agents tasked with protecting President Barack Obama during his trip to Colombia for the Summit of the Americas have been sent home amid allegations of misconduct, The Washington Post reported.

Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association president Jon Adler told the newspaper the accusations include at least one agent being involved with a prostitute in Cartagena, where the president arrived Friday.

Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan declined to confirm what the allegations involved, but said in a statement that "the Secret Service takes all allegations of misconduct seriously" and the incident was being investigated by the agency's Office of Professional Responsibility.

Donovan did not specify how many agents were involved, nor how many had been recalled from Colombia.

"These personnel changes will not affect the comprehensive security plan that has been prepared in advance of the President's trip," his statement said.

The Post said it was alerted to the misconduct by journalist Ronald Kessler, who has written a book on the Secret Service. Kessler said as many as 12 agents had been sent home.

Kessler said soliciting prostitutes is legal in Colombia, but was considered inappropriate by the Secret Service.

Obama flew into Colombia on Friday afternoon for the Americas summit, which is set to be attended by leaders from throughout the region.

It seems shocking but it isn't. I took my nephew to Cartagena in March 2011, he was just graduating college, blonde hair blue eyes he stuck out like a sore thumb. The dispute — he offered $30 for services she thought they had agreed were worth 25 times that — triggered a tense early morning struggle in the hallway of the posh hotel involving the woman, another prostitute, Colombian police officers arguing on the women's behalf and American federal agents who tried but failed to keep the matter — which has shaken the reputation of the Secret Service — from escalating.

Sitting on a couch in her living room wearing a short jean skirt, high-heeled espadrilles and a tight spandex top with a plunging neckline, the woman described how she and a girlfriend were approached by a group of American men at a discotheque. In an account that tracked with the official version of events coming out of Washington, but could not be independently confirmed, she said the men bought a bottle of Absolut vodka for the table and when that was finished bought a second one.

'They never told me they were with Obama, ' she said. 'They were very discreet. '

A taxi driver who picked up the woman at the Hotel Caribe the morning of the encounter said he heard her and another woman recount the dispute over payment. When approached by The Times, the woman was reluctant to speak about what occurred. As she nervously told her story, a friend gave details that seemed to corroborate her account.

There was a language gap between the 24-year-old woman, who declined to give her full name, and the American man who sat beside her all night and eventually invited her back to his room. She agreed, stopped on the way to buy condoms but told him he would have to give her a gift. He asked how much. Not knowing he worked for President Obama but figuring he was a well-heeled foreigner, she said she told him $800.

The price alone, she said, indicates that she is an escort, not a prostitute. 'You have higher rank, ' she said. 'An escort is someone who a man can take out to dinner. She can dress nicely, wear nice makeup, speak and act like a lady. That's me. '

By 6:30 the next morning, after being awoken by a telephone call from the hotel front desk reminding her that, under the hotel's rules for prostitutes, she had to leave, whatever deal the two had agreed on had broken down. She recalled that the man told her he had been drunk when they discussed the price. He countered with an offer of 50, 000 pesos, the equivalent of about $30.

Disgusted with such a low offer, she pressed the matter. He became angry, ordered her out of the room and called her an expletive, she said.

She said she was crying at that point and went across the hall, where another escort had spent the night with a second American man from the same group. Both women began trying to get the money.

They knocked on the door but got no response. She threatened to call the police, but the man's friend begged her not to, saying they did not want trouble. Finally, she said, she left to go home but came across a policeman who was stationed on the hallway and called in an English-speaking colleague.

He accompanied her back to the room and the dispute escalated. Two other Americans from the club emerged from their rooms and stood guard in front of their friend's locked door. The two Colombian officers tried to argue the woman's case.

A hotel security officer arrived. Eventually, she lowered her demand to $250, which she said was the amount she has to pay the man who helps find her customers. Eager to resolve the matter fast, the American men eventually gave her a combination of dollars and local currency worth about $225, and she left.

It was only days later, once a friend she had shared her story with called to say that the dispute had made the television news, that she learned that the man had been a Secret Service agent.

She was dismayed, she said, that the news reports have described her as a prostitute as though she walked the streets picking up just anyone.

'It's the same but it's different, ' she said, indicating that she is much more selective about her clients and charges much more than a streetwalker. 'It's like when you buy a fine rum or a BlackBerry or an iPhone. They have a different price. '

The woman veered between anger and fear as she told of her misadventure. 'I'm scared, ' she said, indicating she did not want the man she spent the night with to get into any trouble but now feared that he might retaliate against her.

'This is something really big, ' she said. 'This is the government of the United States. I have nervous attacks. I cry all the time. '

The Secret Service declined to comment on the woman's account. Among the issues under review is whether the security personnel went out that night looking for prostitutes or whether they encountered them where they had been drinking.

'There was no evidence that these women were seeking these guys out — that they were waiting for Secret Service agents, but all of that is being looked into, ' said Representative Peter T. King, the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security.

Mr. King, who was briefed on the matter by Mark Sullivan, the Secret Service director, said that the Secret Service agents at the hotel had provided conflicting reports about the night's events.

'Some of them were saying they didn't know they were prostitutes, ' he said. 'Some are saying they were women at the bar. I understand that there was quite a bit of drinking. '

As for cooperating with the American investigators who are seeking to interview as many as 21 different women who they believe may have spent the night with American security officers in advance of Mr. Obama's arrival, the woman who was involved in the payment dispute said she was not interested in that. She said she was planning to leave Cartagena soon.
