Also under the forum Colombia are many other threads. Two threads you should look at are Cartagena Lists and Cartagena Hotels and Apartments. Within Cartagena Lists you can find a map made by World Traveler 69, study this map. World Traveler 69 made this map for all of us but mostly for people like you. He likes to give back to the forum. If the map helps you, thank him not me. Under "cartagena lists": find post #491 WorldTravelr69 posted the list in PDF so you can download it. The list is 2 years old and some things can change on the ground but most of the list is probably accurate. The map is a custom made google map so it is a link, the link is also in the same post #491.

And - this is the cherry on the top of the cake - he is so "busy" and considers his time so more precious than that of others, that he feels so hurt to insult those who are not available to serve his urgency. I think he is 100% sincere in feeling all this.
This forum is not an information counter, where members are paid to provide information upon request. It is for sharing, as you said. We (me too) shared a lot here so far. I took such a long time over 10 years to write reports and summary of information in this and other threads. Did you? Just take the time to read, or at least do not expect people is happy to spoon feed.

I just got home from my trip number 2 to CTG. It was great. Good seafood, good sex, weather was hot as hell. So what can I say its CTG. My return trip was long and grueling. I can't find any place that I like that's closer. Also that's as cheap. Any comments?

I just got home from my trip number 2 to CTG. It was great. Good seafood, good sex, weather was hot as hell. So what can I say its CTG. My return trip was long and grueling. Good Sex: Where did you find the chicas? Were the chicas hot or just doable? How much did you pay? Did she give BBBJ, etc? As for the weather, it never changes in Cartagena except sometimes it rains more.
As far as anything closer, not really. Without knowing what part of the country you live in, it's hard to say why your return trip was grueling. I never have a good trip back because the excitement of going down always makes the trip down worth it. Sometimes though it's about planning your flight far enough in advance to get the best route, etc. Even then though, I live near a regional airport so people close to big hubs like NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, LA, etc will always get a better flight than I will.
You posted before that your first trip was a disaster, how do you compare this trip to that one?

You say "one of the guys" which leads me to believe there are at least three of you. THat means that when you get three chicas there will be six of you, that is called a "party" and even if the building allows visitors that doesn't mean they are not going to frown on parties. Because the building is important not the owner of the apartment, the building is setting the rules so this is what you need to investigate.
Does anyone have information on guest policy at IBIS hotel in Cartagena? My friends are recommending it but I want to make sure they don't create problems with visitors?

The only thing I can add to my post for clarification is that I only shop for chicas at the clock tower. I'm not interested in clubs. Posting a report on CTG is different than any city I have visited. I was there for 5 days and had sex with 5 different girls. All were great and all did BBBJ. You may both be right. If the guy has experience in Cartagena, he may have a contact with someone who has an Airbnb who will allow him to bring whoever he wants in. However, the building security will have rules. They won't let in girls without an ID. The owner might have different rules when more than one person is in the apartment.
Also, an owner who has no problem with bringing in guests, might say no if you ask to bring back "anyone you want.
Finally, is it worth ruining your entire trip just so you can say "I told you so?" So what if someone here tells you which answer he thinks is right? You need to be having this conversation with the people who own the apartments you're interested in.

I appreciate you taking the time to recommend good restaurants in CTG. My problem is I live to travel and I travel out of the country 5, some times 6, and occasionally 7 times a year. I am not a high roller. I always travel on a budget. My budget for lodging is $50.00 a night and that's possible in most cities for an apartment with AIRBNB. It seems to me that anything you buy in the walled city is much more expensive than in Bocagrande were I stayed on my last trip. When I read your restaurant recommendations knowing they were in the walled city I didn't pay any attention to them. I travel solo and eating alone especially at a expensive restaurant just doesn't work for me. Again thanks for your recommendation but this doesn't work for me. Ley me mention, once you posted that you didn't think that I had much experience out of the mid west well as I just mentioned I live to travel I have visited every western European country and all except 2 eastern European countries. I have been all over Asia. The first time I used ISG was a trip I made to Czechoslovakia. Yea this was just after they run the Ruskies out. They were still dancing in the streets. Using ISG info I ended up with the most beautiful Slovakian girl It wasn't long before the country split. I have been back 3 times to the check republic. OK so I've bragged enough about myself. However, I have walked in front of it several times (Av. S. Martin, right?) and honestly the visual impression it gives is that it is just one of the many tourist places where to have lunch, at best. This does not mean it is a tourist trap, or it is necessarily a place where bad food is served, and ok when I named it "fast food" I was exaggerated or unfair, but NO WAY I could think it is one of the best restaurants in Cartagena. Am I wrong? Did I miss the top restaurant of Cartagena because negatively biased by its look? Ok, my fault, sorry.
Now you made me curious, and of course I feel hit by your comment, so I rushed to check Tripadvisor. I don't trust Tripadvisor in general, but it may help to get some idea.
In this case, Tripadvisor ranks Harvey "#243 of 831 Restaurants in Cartagena" with score 4.0. By chance, the first 2 comments I read are "Local place for a quick meal", "Average at best".
As a comparison, Tripadvisor ranks Carbon de Palo 4.5 and "#59 of 831 Restaurants in Cartagena" and Cuzco 4.5 "#33 of 831 Restaurants in Cartagena".
Now guess what? Tripadvisor ranks Restaurant #1 in Cartagena a place called LA TAPERIA (:eek:), so my conclusion is: forget TripAdvisor! :(
Now let me reverse it back on you. Did you ever have dinner at Cuzco and Santisimo? Where would you take your most significant one for a romantic dinner? Is the ambient at Harvey's elegant as at Cuzco? Are dishes so good? Tell me I am too negatively biased by my visual impression, but I will keep on considering Cuzco two categories higher and preferring it for my dinners.
If you're on the fence, pull the trigger. I'm glad I did before visiting a friend in Peru. My Spanish is basic level one, not conversational. I did a lot of pointing and used simple words. If someone wants your money, they will work with you. With smartphones, translator apps, and forums like this, you don't have an excuse. Book your flight and see how you feel afterwards because you have 24 hours to refund it.
Read the last 80-100 pages of the forum, at least. Learn to count to 300 without assistance. Just add "mil pesos" to everything. Message the Airbnb owner if bringing girls are okay. I had a private / direct entrance, so that helps stop a possible building policy from getting in the way. However, without a layer of security checking IDs, you assume the risk of no help if something goes wrong. I didn't have any problems after several girls, maybe I was just lucky.
You're going to get quoted prices from 60 k pesos online to $200 USD offline. I purposely sampled girls from both price ends to find out for myself. I found the more expensive ones were more aggressive at marketing and were just willing to ask those prices. My favorites ended up being the more economical ones, 120 k pesos, that would be way out of my league back home. Try to open with your offer first.
The clock tower is great because you can feel out someone's personality. My first night I paid 200 k for 2 hours. She was Venezuelan and spoke a little English. I didn't pursue TLN on my first trip since I was a rookie and didn't want to sleep with one eye open.
The girls are not just at the clock tower. After dark, they start showing up in the side streets and they become easy to spot. Anytime you see a girl that catches your eye, at least get her WhatsApp because you're appetite will return. I made the mistake of not approaching lookers during my down time.

After arriving, I stocked up the fridge with beer, juice, water, and desserts to share. I never saw any violence or felt unsafe walking at night. If you look for trouble or don't look like you're in control, trouble will probably find you as with any city.

Unless you're getting the food from a street vendor, you won't get any food fast. It takes about the same amount of time to get a burger from Presto or El Corral as it takes at Burgers, Barbacoa and Beer. It's fast food quality at quality food speed.
Generally speaking, in the US, I consider any mall food court business to be fast food, both in quality and speed of service. It's always served on disposable plates with plastic utensils on a reusable tray of questionable cleanliness. However, in Colombia, many mall food court restaurants serve on real plates with metal silverware and your drink in glass. The quality tends to be much higher with better presentation and excellent prices.

Readers, allow me to provide the community with some updates for Cartagena from my point of view. It's lengthy because I wanted to provide as much detail as possible to help new people navigate Cartagena as best as possible. Photos included, but with respect to the promise of their privacy, their faces are hidden.
Quick Background:
Arrived on Wed 9/11. Solo until wingman arrives tomorrow. Taxi to the house near Clock Tower for 20 mil. They tried to start at 30 mil but I'm well aware, thanks to the ISG, that the price is no more than 20 mil.
This time I decided to go against the usual recommendation of staying in an apartment in Laguito from he Who Shall (Not?) Be Named. Coughjuancough. I did an Airbnb. The spot was absolutely Perfect. $130/ night. Included complete daily maid services (home and laundry). I did my research prior to locking it down. By research, I mean I found out that I'm able to bring chicas back with literally no hassle. There's no security or doorman. Just a lowkey door facing the streets. Super nice spot with 2 bedrooms each with bath. Huge open living room for partying with its own halfbath. Perfect for throwing huge parties where you can't keep eyes on all guest because it's completely separated from the bedrooms which have their own locks. For those who are super concerned of safety, I felt safe and will Definitely rent again. Balcony overlooking the street. The property manager explicitly told me to treat this house exactly how you would your own. Enough said.
My mission for this trip was simple: To fuck as many girls as I can until I return home on Monday. I accomplished my mission with a story to tell:
Day 1 (Wednesday):

And of course the Cartagena see*Squad. 9 pm, kind of empties out. I counted 10 ish obvious see*Squad workers barely worth mentioning. Deadpool is also here, texting and wielding swords. He's so out of place. 10 pm, more of a mix but the be*Band is starting to arrive. The workers are literally just Standing There as previously mentioned 100's of times on the forum. No exaggeration. One chica got bumped and didn't even move a foot or stop staring at her phone. Discipline. I head to Dolce Vita right around 10 pm and it's still pretty dead. There's definitely a few early birds in there trying to get this worm. Within 5 min I spot her.

Seriously, the police are doubled up on a bike doing a figure-8 to scatter the chicas. Chicas disappear within 3 min. Magic. I'm amazed at the resemblance this has to a herding dog doing this with its cattle. I'm empty handed because I didn't want to settle. I had a sweet tooth for a slim morena with a tear-drop bubble butt. I walk back to LDV for a final hunt. This Little Annoying Bit comes up to me and starts talking my head off. They will as for the chica's ID upon entering, that's all. I have stayed at the IBIS in Bogota and never had any problems there. Also going to Brazil in January and staying at an IBIS there after confirming the same policy.

Just a point of information for those anticipating a trip to CTL, many of the chicas strolling about the Clock Tower, have braces on their teeth. The girls call them "brackets' in espanol. I have never stayed at this IBIS personally, but when I contacted them they confirmed that guests are okay as long as you book the room for 2 people you will not be charged extra. Also going to Brazil in January and staying at an IBIS there after confirming the same policy.This is standard for most hotels and works fine for the first girl.
If you bring a different girl the second night, you got an issue as she is not registered.

There is the official policy that they will tell you on email / phone and then there is unofficial policy of what actually happens. That't what I was requesting with my post.
This is standard for most hotels and works fine for the first girl.
If you bring a different girl the second night, you got an issue as she is not registered.
Most have a guest fee up to $100 for the second girl and any girl after.
Best to contact the hotel yourself and be direct about what you plan to do and get real answers.

I had to work a late shift the night before I flew down here, long story short I started my first night going on 30 hours of not sleeping but not wanting to blow a Saturday night. I killed some time in Getsemani eating dinner in swanky hotel restaurant, then took in the scene at Cafe Havana for a bit. My brain was running on autopilot and I made the walk from Getsemani to the Plaza de LOS Coches. It was only a little after 11 and there may have been 30 or so chicas hanging out, and s handful of then were beautiful and s couple of them had natural looking slim bodies that I like. I am not a fan of the and "new" place, I read where somebody talked about dancing with the chicas, where do you dance? I went in there at what I thought was early, at a little after 11 pm. I was surprised that the place was starting to get packed, I started going around buying chicas drinks which is my thing because I do not drink and do not want to feel like a sponge. Then I saw two cuties and one was about an 8 with a thin body. So I offered 200 k but she replied that I would have to take her friend and it would be 250 k each and I just didn't like the price or the vibe of it plus her friend wasn't that cute so I walked away. It is well referenced in the forums that if you plan on having a different girl every night, hotels are not a good option. You need to find an BnB or rent a condo with a liberal guest policy.

In this case, Tripadvisor ranks Harvey "#243 of 831 Restaurants in Cartagena" with score 4.0. By chance, the first 2 comments I read are "Local place for a quick meal", "Average at best".
As a comparison, Tripadvisor ranks Carbon de Palo 4.5 and "#59 of 831 Restaurants in Cartagena" and Cuzco 4.5 "#33 of 831 Restaurants in Cartagena".
Now guess what? Tripadvisor ranks Restaurant #1 in Cartagena a place called LA TAPERIA (:eek:), so my conclusion is: forget TripAdvisor! :(

In all the times I have been there, it's predominantly been locals on their lunch break from work. I was first taken there by a local. Being a lunch spot frequented by locals on their lunch break, that jives with there not being a Trip Advisor cult following. The restaurant has good Colombian food for lunch, with quite a varied menu. I typically prefer to sit inside the small dining area, in which I don't recall ever seeing a foreigner.
I have had the pleasure of dining at El Santismo, yes. I can't speak for Cuzco, but have heard good things. You are correct in saying that Harvey's is not comparable to El Santismo, nor from what I've heard about Cuzco. Total different type of restaurants, and much different ambiance.
There was no cause to throw out insults toward Harvey's when it was obvious that one had a prejudice that was not based on his actual experience. Nonetheless, the point you make in re to Harvey's not being in the same category as El Santisimo or Cuzco is well taken, but then it's not trying to be.

Back about 7 years ago I was with a chica on Laguito beach and we were starving so we stopped at one of those thatched hut places on the beach that hasn't been painted in decades, The guy comes over with a baking sheet with fresh caught dead fish and says "this is the menu" I just randomly picked one and they brought it back freshly gutted and grilled head / eyes staring up at me, some coconut rice and a "salad" and lime wedges to flavor the fish that as the; best fish I have every had. I can't remember the name of the place but it was pretty close to where carrera 1 runs into the beach. I am going back to Cartagena in a few days and I will try to work that into my plans.

I found out that you certainly can not judge a place by its looks. Back about 7 years ago I was with a chica on Laguito beach and we were starving so we stopped at one of those thatched hut places on the beach that hasn't been painted in decades, I It could have been Dona Marciana, at the beach where there is the Police Post, which is my favourite place for lunch.
They painted the hut and remodeled everything, including the basic kitchen. It lost that "primitive" flavour.

So finding someone who speaks English is tough anywhere you go in Columbia.
The tourist city of Cartagena along with the two populous cities of Medellin and Bogota are the only places you find it spoken, if at all.
In Medellin and Bogota you will find more English spoken in the more upscale neighborhoods.
In Cartagena, you will find more English spoken in the tourist center when interacting with people trying to capture tourist dollars.
As an average visitor, the only place you might find it spoken is in upscale restaurants, hotels and some hotel chains.
An English speaking prepago is an unicorn.
That being said, the basics of negotiation terms for services with the ladies is universal.
Be prepared with google translator, download the Spanish language so it works offline when not on WiFi.
You won't find English more prominently in any of the cities, so use other criteria for selecting where you want to visit.
Average price for services throughout Columbia won't change, 120 K to 150 K is standard for some play time. The length of which depends on your negotiating skills and your rapport with the service provider.
ST and LT are basically the same price with LT having the added costs of taking care of, feeding, drinking and gifting for your long term visitor.

If you stay in Getsemani you'll here plenty of english spoken by tourists there. It's right outside the old city and upscale. There are no prostitutes there and if you take a chica to places there make sure she's dressed normally.
That being said, ALL over Colombia people primarily speak Spanish. A vast majority learn a little English in school and not much more. There's no need for it.

Very few Chicas speak English. Very few taxi drivers speak English. The street address system is tricky, this you write down for taxi drivers.
I picked up one chica near the clock tower who was ok in the face but her body was OMG, she said she was 24, she had perfectly round titties and I discovered to my delight they were real, I offered her 150 k and she did BBBJ, great chica. If the level of English is pretty low regardless of the city, I guess I might just try my luck at Medellin as I at least won't be dealing with a coastal tourist town that's probably set up for gringo prices. It's also good to hear that BBBJ is apparently commonplace in your guys' experiences? That was the biggest knock I had on Sosua. I'd like a selection of MP's or bordello's as well, but they're not my first port of call, a street scene is more successful for my style, as long as its not a total car crash of a place, druggie and tranny infested. I don't generally care about to strip clubs, someone else can "make it rain. ". I've never really ordered online, bait and switch or 10 year old photos are just too prevalent in my view.
Years ago I went to Cartagena two or three times, loved it. But that was before the prices when up up and away, and before the moral majority were out blowing their horns.
I'm a fan of the coke bottle body shape on universitaria age females. I was a big fan of Cuba but over the last 10 years its getting harder and harder, numbers are down, quality is down, and I don't like creeping around with a chica.
The costs of either destination won't affect my decision.
Sheer numbers and availability is the primary motivator, Cartagena was great for spanishy looking vixens 10 years ago, don't know if that's still going on now round the clock tower. Street walkers, beach girls and LDV girls were the targets then, but I do get the impression quality and quantity has fallen, and prices have gone up. Anyone confirm?

I've got my african backstop countries, but sometimes I'd like to go a place where they can cook a steak, and the street meat doesn't look like it was dragged through a hedge backwards.
So Cartagena or Santo Domingo which would be better for my style of mongering or even Sosua if I've underestimated it.
I've considered Medellin or Bogota, my instincts tell me Santa Fe would be great in daytime, possibly dangerous for a solo middle aged gringo after dark. Safety has to play a little part in any decision, as I'm not the young gun I was.

At DarrenGap: Just a reminder, end of February in 2020 is Carnaval with 21 to 29 for Rio. Given costs were not an issue, the choices are # 1 Brazil, followed by # 2 Colombia, followed by # 3 Dom Rep. Lodging costs though are triple for Carnaval dates in Brazil. Overall, I would go for Colombia, you can hit Barranquilla for couple of days also.

When I was last there Getsemeni was a the edge of the civilized area. Old crones and ladrones used to sit out at the start of the sketchy area like sentries, but I understand that areas had a brush with the renovators and is quite the place now. I mean fck-me google streetmap for CTG.
The block I stayed in has been renovated. I couldn't get hot water wherever I stayed. And my air con froze solid after a couple of hours use. I'm guessing the move upmarket will bring me better options on that front.
I see a lot of big new apartment rentals like the apartmentos palmetto beach on calle 1 in bocagrande. How do they deal with renters "guests". Different guests every day, etc. Does the security make a big fuss of taking the girls ID etc? Or do i just sweep back with my girl and they say "good evening sir..."? On my last visit block security couldn't have been more helpful, I bought them some tins of beer and we were best mates.
Rio would come in second, but I don't want to do the carnival thing, too much hassle, too much additonal costs, Another year I'll sort a direct flight to rio out and revisit that latin paradise.

Should I choose Cartagena or Dominican Republic?
I want a place with a good street walker scene, and a good selection of hooker bars. This building used to be great about 20 years ago, I stayed there many times, and the ocean front view and breeze was great! Most of the apartments have no hot water for showers, though not necessary in Cartagena, use cable splitters through the ceiling and get their cable for free. Now the apartments are older. Like (New) Conquistador, it is older, mostly used by Colombian tourists who rent by the week or a few days at a time.

First I love the exchange rate, and feel it is a great investment to grab as many pesos as I can at a rate near 3500 per dollar. Overall, Medellin is much cheaper than Cartagena (hotels, restaurants, girls).
However, mongering in Cartagena is also much easier. Then, I would suggest you to go to Cartagena, but read here first, as much as you can. Adelante, Panther, con juicio!

Occasional lurker here. First, I would like to thank you for all the great information being provided here, it's really appreciated.
Now to the question part. In a few months I'm going to have a 4-5 day window for some fun before continuing with the other part of my trip and I'm having some difficulties with my decision making. I'm that type of guy who likes to hit the club or a similar scene and feel the vibe and then go from there rather than using facebook, escort sites, casas etc. Nothing against it, it's just not my first choice. Having read the reports here, it is my conclusion that only Cartagena and Medellin fit the bill with Medellin being a less appealing option because of the ridiculous prices being quoted at places like Gusto and everything that goes with it. I didn't even bother reading about Bogota because I like warmer climate and it seems like Cali doesn't have what I'm looking for.
So I guess I'm asking the more experienced people here if my assessment is correct and should I go with Cartagena or am I overlooking something?
Thanks.Without a doubt CTG fits your needs. There are two main clubs { Space, La dolce Vita } perfect for what you want. Also a bonus for you is the clock tower action. As far as you like warm weather then CTG fits the bill.
Cartagena was an amazing city of fantasies and illusions. I am in my early forties, Hispanic with good Spanish (conversational), with knowledge of Colombia (been to Medellin a few times). I did my research prior to going (thanks board) and even did Tinder (my opinion on that later). Even with all this preparations, I still made some miscues and mistakes that I learned some lessons if I would return. But overall, I had a great time and would probably repeat (though probably a shorter weekend trip).
Day One Wednesday.
I booked the trip for about a week (September 18-24) arriving wed and leaving the following Tuesday. This was my first solo trip (been with friends before). I was contacting women on Tinder getting ready for my arrival. A 6 am flight out of NYC and layover in fort Lauderdale. On the second leg of the trip, I made friends with a pilot who decided on a whim to jump on board and check out Cartagena. He has never been to Colombia at all and didn't even have a hotel lined up. So we made friends and I decided to help him translate and help him to the to the walled city. So we took a taxi together and dropped him off. Then I checked into my spot and the place was sweet. Good security and great views of the city from the balcony. First mission was to get a Claro sim card for my Colombian phone so did that. I also got supplies (food, drinks, booze, Colombian Cialis and Colombian Viagra). Once I got back I reached out to some girls that I made contact on tinder and one got back to me, a Venny Andreina which I made a cita for next morning. I tried to rest a bit before going out knowing that the fun don't kick off until after 11 pm but this pilot was WhatsApping me and giving me updates about drinking and the girls are hot. So I napped about an hour before getting ready. Once out, I felt the anticipation in the air, not knowing what to expect, if the clock tower is all that is cracked up to be or how is LDVs as many have mentioned. I got there after 10:30 pm to meet up with the pilot dude from drinks and food. As I walked into the clock tower, I saw a small sampling of what was to come. So I contact Natalia who is at LDVs and tells me to swing by. I get there and Sunday is definitely emptier than Saturday night, lots of women though not at the level as other nights. I meet Natalia and we get some drinks and start talking about Playa Blanca. I said get your stuff, stay over and we go together the next day. She quotes me 1000 k. I was like your out of your goddamn mind. She didn't go down that much so I told her let me think about it. I text Andreina about the playa trip and she is down and quotes me 250 k. I didn't even negotiate and was like done, show up before 9 and we go. In the meantime, Natalia is already talking to some dude and she comes up to me and ask if I was going to be with her. I told her no, I found alternative plans and she took off with the guy. Funny thing, I am still at LDVs just hanging out drinking and chatting it up that about 20 minutes later Natalia is back. Man she works fast. I decide to pass on taking any girl out that night, go back get some rest and get ready for the beach.
Day 6 (Monday).
I get up around 8 am to start getting ready for the beach. Andreina hits me up and lets me know she is on her way. I hired a taxi to take me to playa blanca and check out some of the islands including Cholon. I meet up Andreina and the taxi arrives soon after and we are on our way. The trip is about an hour and pur driver was knowledgeable about where to go. We arrive and we got to a restaurant on the beach to rent chairs and beers. Our taxi driver talks to do and helps us get a speedboat to tour the islands. We get on board and go tour a few of the islands and check out Cholon. Cholon was OK (it was Monday afternoon.) My girl and I are just enjoying the views and each other (unfortunately to many people around for some island sex). We make it back have lunch and enjoy the beach. We head back and end up at the apartment. We start making up for the day, and start our party. Unfortunately, I am hit with my kryptonite, a stinky puss, and that just kills my mood and pretty much ends the session. I pay Andreina and send her on my way. I am thinking how am I going to end my last night in Cartagena. I decide to message Nena. She tells me, after she left, she got ready, laid down for a second and then passed out (not sure how much I believe that but oh well). Anyway she excited to talk to me and we negotiate what we can do. I tell her it's my last night and I want to celebrate my birthday before heading back. We end up agreeing that she could come over and we have a pregame session and after that if she needs to go and do her thing, we can part ways and agree to 250 k. So she gets ready and video chats while getting her hair done. About an hour later she is downstairs and want to be called up instead of me getting her. I talk to the front and when she walks in, she has surprised me by bringing her super model and best friend Paola. Tall and drop dead gorgeous. She is like surprise! Now this is a birthday gift! Cartagena was a lot of fun. Everything is located close and very easy to find whatever your looking for. The Venezuelans I found more willing to do more than the Colombians (some a harden pros) but YMMV. With the clocktower and LDVs always rocking, you really don't need Tinder (though I found Andreina that way). A better way I think is just get all the girls number and contact them during the day. Friday and Saturday are prime time nights so might end up paying a bit more those nights (though I didn't negotiate Saturday with Nena and I am ok with that). I could of avoided a few situations but you live and learn. Depending on how had you like to party, a week might be good or an extended weekend might be better. I need to check out Cholon on a Friday or Saturday. Cartagena is definitely more expensive than Medellin but I knew that going in (still far cheaper than NYC and even CR). I do like that fact that you party at your own place and can set the atmosphere the way you like it vs a Casa or strip club. But Cartagena is also definitely a tropical party atmosphere vs Medellin which is metropolitan. Also unfortunately, even though I was staying in front of playa Hollywood, I didn't partake which next I would try ay least one. I would do Cartagena given the opportunity again.

The second question; did the building you stayed in have the initials HD?
Here we can read anything and its contrary, but assimilating Medellin with Gusto is illogical. Gusto is ONE place in Medellin, not really representative of Medellin, and even not advisable in the opinion of the majority who write here.
Overall, Medellin is much cheaper than Cartagena (hotels, restaurants, girls)...Equating Gusto with Medellin is just nuts. I have taken 20+ trips to Medellin and I have yet to set foot in that club. Medellin has so much to offer, besides Gusto.

Good for you. I see many reports where a guy has a bad session, and he just continues on. I feel two things are important when mongering. They are time, and leche. Most of the time your trip is not of a long duration so why waste your time, and leche on a bad choice you have made. Concerning the leche part when I was 20 years old that was not a consideration, but those days are long gone.
I remember one time in MDE I got a Chica in Mayorista for 20 K. I was so happy with the deal I had made till we got to the room, and she insisted on double condoms. I quickly paid her the 20 K,and went out again right away so I did not waste the leche on a sure dud.
BTW great trip report. Also concerning your pilot friend who ended up over paying because he did not set up the price in advance. Of all the rookie mistakes this is very near to being the top one.

I'd been heading through Parque Lleras on my way to grab a bus home and some guys I'd just met wanted to have a drink, then another.
After 3 drinks, 1 guy drags us into Gusto, because he knows everyone there. It was true. He was buddies with every bartender, waitress and bouncer. I had a great time for 3 reasons.
1. That guy was crazy. He was everywhere doing everything. He ended up spending $750 in there and I didn't spend any. Not even a cover charge.
2. The other guy was much calmer and a good guy to talk with.
3. Because of the 1 guy, we were treated like VIPs. Everyone on the staff was constantly checking on us to make sure we were having a good time and the working girls weren't pushy.
I'd originally been headed home at 6 pm and didn't get there until 7:30 am (we ended up at Club Fahrenheit). Not the kind of night I wanted to repeat, but I enjoyed it.
However, there's at least 100 other dance clubs in Medellin and you can find girls willing to earn some extra money in any of them. You'll spend less for everything too. There's at least 100 regular options as well, between casas, strip clubs, girl bars and private apartments being run like brothels. Then there's the Facebook scene.
I can't say that Medellin is better than Cartagena, although I expect it's better for me. I like to spend the day walking, 10 miles or more. Cartagena is too hot for me to enjoy that. I also like to end my night by 10 or 11. That seems to be when Cartagena gets started.
For some guys Cartagena is perfect. Everyone just needs to do their research and pick the destination that best suits them. Unfortunately, it seems most guys base their decision on one report, or one girl.

I wouldn't advise going to any girls apartment. Its better you pay the hotel and at least be safe.The safety issue is usually for the one who takes a stranger to his / her place, not the contrary. You will not create troubles where you live, even if you just rent the room. On the other hand, if you have a thief or trouble maker in your apartment, the extraction of the unwanted guest from your place can be not trivial at times.
I have never seen any girl proposing a short-time customer to go where she lives. On the other hand, I have accompanied my girls back to their places in Getsemani a few times. One time it was a poor room at the ground level, other times a room in a small hotel. All times, we said bye at the door.

Visit to CTG on ice, primarily as I can't get a connection after I land at MIA at 6 pm, and given I only have 6 available nights I don't want to fanny around with an overnight stay in Miami.
Fact is I can get a AA flight at 9 pm to Dom Republic, but CTG or Medellin last flights seem to about 5 pm.
Unless the expert travellers on this board know otherwise.
TBH I'd prefer CTG but if I have to screw big titted dominicans then I'll suck it up. So to speak.

On My computer I can access flight info that others can't find. I did research for you and results were not good. From Mia to CTG even looking at all connections the latest departure was 1659 with a connection in panama. Same for ATL and JFK.
When I travel to south america I must go through MIA some times I arrive in Mia before noon with a 11 pm departure. Thats a rough layover. I looked for a cheat hotel with a shuttle bus, to get a few hours sleep. The best I could do was a days inn for $70.00. What a dump. The worst love motel I have stayed in was much better. Good luck.

The easiest way to get to Cartagena is land in Bogota and take one of the Avianca flights to Cartagena that leaves almost every hour or two.
You'll find Bogota has many more flights going into it than Cartagena. Cartagena has a much smaller airport.

If my desire was to try someplace new, I'd look at a multi-city route. Go somewhere else for a day or two, which gives an easy connection to your desired destination. However, I don't see any attractive options for his departure window.
So next step is alternative airports. The Fort Lauderdale airport is less than 30 miles away from MIA and there's a flight to CTG via MCO (Orlando) leaving at 1 O:49 pm, at least for the random date I used.
This gives 2 possible options.
1. Find ground transportation from MIA to FLL and fly via Orlando.
2. Find a flight from MIA to MCO which gets you there in time for the MCO to CTG flight. There are 1 way flights starting at $49, which is almost certainly cheaper than taxi or Uber to FLL. Although there may be a cheap shuttle bus.
All this depends on what day you're arriving at MIA. It doesn't appear the MCO to CTG flies every day.

I traveled to Cartagena in May this year. I stayed near bocagrande at an apartment. It was chica friendly, especially after I greeted the doorman with a little cash. The girls are everywhere, the beach, the plaza, etc.
Had a nice girl come from the beach to my room. 120 K for the hour. She was 23 and light tan and incredible body, GFE and everything.

I also know that tensions have been high between Venezuela and the US for years, and usually when tensions are high large visits by the US Navy are announced ahead of time. Not to mention that when something as large and slow moving as a US naval fleet is going anywhere its hard to keep it a secret anyway from Russian satellites. Russians have troops in Venezuela now. So most likely it would be announced ahead of time so as to give some bullshit reason for the visit and thus not raise tensions any higher. But I am just spitballing.

Clock tower was SUPER dead when I was in town 2 weeks ago. And I mean that in a good way. There aren't much guys in town and you could pick choose and refuse. Average price was down to 50 dollars, and yes, you could negotiate that down because work was so slow. I also found an apartment, with no front desk after 7, so all you can eat buffet from 7 pm onwards. I took 2 friends down with me and after showing them the ropes, they were able to fend for themselves, including 2 3 some at 80 in total. I encourage anyone going down now to be careful though. The Venezuelans have really took over the place and the men and street kids are very aggressive in begging and touching you as they beg. So watch your wallets. I also encourage you, since it is slow, to not be too hard on the negotiations. The girls do this for work and need to eat!
I am working on a membership, and senior members, I will share the apartment info. It is literally by the Clocktower!

Cartagena was an amazing city of fantasies and illusions. I am in my early forties, Hispanic with good Spanish (conversational), with knowledge of Colombia (been to Medellin a few times). I did my research prior to going (thanks board) and even did Tinder (my opinion on that later). Even with all this preparations, I still made some miscues and mistakes that I learned some lessons if I would return. But overall, I had a great time and would probably repeat (though probably a shorter weekend trip).
Day One Wednesday.
I booked the trip for about a week (September 18-24) arriving wed and leaving the following Tuesday. This was my first solo trip (been with friends before). I traveled to Cartagena in May this year. I stayed near bocagrande at an apartment. It was chica friendly, especially after I greeted the doorman with a little cash. The girls are everywhere, the beach, the plaza, etc.
Had a nice girl come from the beach to my room. 120 K for the hour. She was 23 and light tan and incredible body, GFE and everything.
Also pulled a nice babe from the clock tower at night, although it was a bit pricier. 160 k for GFE for an hour, real nice, late twenties and a great all natural body.
Also don't be afraid to use the internet, that can help you negotiate better. As always the more Spanish you know, the better it will be for all.

Second, Bocagrande is LONG: 2 or 3 km from one side to the other. Therefore, your question depends on where you are in Bocagrande. From Juan Valdez, it is less than 2 km and you can go walking in 20-25 minures. From the exreme in Laquito, the distance is almost 5 km and therefore you take nealry 1 hour on foot.
In both cases, conidering temperature, humidity, the poor view, the little taxi fare, nobody would consider to go on foot.

They're not sold locally. These are used appliances shipped to Colombia and fixed there then resold. This is why you'll see a state of the art water heater in an apartment but it barely works.

I am no expert in water heaters so I can't tell by looking if a water heater is tankless or if it is a mini tank. After experiencing the water going from acceptably warm to fucking cold after being in the shower just long enough to soap up everyday for like 3 days, I finally located the Bosch small suitcase sized gas water heater in the apartment mounted on the wall in the laundry room, while doing laundry I noticed the sound of the water heater turning on when I switched the setting to hot water, then I went to the shower and turned the water knob all the way to the hot position and then turned the water on, I heard the water heater kick on. So I realized the hot water heater burner unit was activated by turning on the hot water. regardless though the water would turn cold again long before I could finish a quick shower. I do not know if it had a defective thermostat or what but once the water ran cold again. I would have to turn the water off, then turn it back on in the extreme hot position to turn it back on. So I had to adjust my system taking a shower, wash hair then rinse then get the fuck out, turn water heater knob off turn it back on, wait a minute get back in shower wash upper body then rinse then get the fuck out, repeat for lower body. So I am pretty sure it was a mini tank. I have read on these forums that energy is very expensive in Colombia so maybe that is part of their calculation when they put these things in, but seriously think that a tankless water heater would be more be more efficient than my having to take 3 showers to get clean, and I believe that the added marginal cost to the rent would more than pay for itself in satisfied customers. It was a very nice studio apartment except for this major flaw, I would not rent that same apartment again because of this.

There is no tank. On the outside there should be 2 knobs. Some models have 2 knobs combined into 1, with an inner and outer knob. Like an old car stereo with the volume knob and the balance knob combined.
One knob controls the temperature. The other controls the flow rate. Reducing the flow rate increases the temperature. The problem is, they are difficult to set up properly. If the unit gets too hot, it shuts the gas off to prevent a fire. The unit will relight once the temperature comes back down.
I had 1 unit that I couldn't get adjusted. I could get about 3 minutes of hot water, before it shut down. Or I could get 10 minutes of barely warm water. I finally found a compromise. Turn on the shower, wait for hot water. Get wet, wet my hair and start washing my hair. When the water started getting cold, turned the shower head to the wall and let the water run while I finished washing my hair. This speeds up cooling down the unit. Then turn the water off for a few seconds and turn it back on. This will restart the heater. Rinse the hair, begin washing the body and repeat until finished.
If you want to take the time to adjust it, start by increasing water flow to max and temperature to minimum. Turn on the shower, all hot water and run it. If it makes it long enough for a shower, but isn't hot enough, increase the temperature by about 20% and try again. It might take 5 or 6 tries to get it adjusted right.
You probably won't be able to get unlimited steaming hot water, no matter how hard you try.

Totally worth it.For myself personally the taxi drivers in Cartagena are part of the "charm" of the city, if you get an older guy ask home to tell you difference between women from Cartagena and Barranquilla and Medellin, its pure entertainment. To hear them tell it every woman from each region has the same personality. I read (maybe on this forum) a long time ago to always agree to the fare before you get in the taxi in Cartagena and you are much more likely to get the correct fare. I personally do not expect anyone else to think its funny, but I think its funny that when you ask them the fare after you arrive they kind of get this look in their face like they don't know either (because surely they do) and you can see that they are making it up.
The annoying part to me is that I always seem to lack small currency and they always seem (emphasis on seem because I'm not sure they are not lying) to not have change. One Sunday morning I went out looking fo a place to do brunch at a rooftop restaurant and was taking a taxi a relatively short distance, this young taxi drivers lacks change for a 50 k bill, parks the taxi and gets out and walks away and is gone for what seemed like 15 minutes before he comes back with the change. I know I could make them commit to a fare before I get in and if it seems to high I could haggle, but since it's never more than a few thousand pesos and they probably live in a two room house with their two kids I don't give a shit.
On the other hand I thought I was going to fight a taxi driver in Rome one time when he was trying to charge me 30 Euro for an 8 Euro ride and I looked up and he had the meter covered with his cap and so had never ran the meter. This fucking idiot. His name and license number right there posted. I pulled out my phone and started taking pictures of his photo and license and the cap covering the meter. He panicked and started screaming at me in Italian, I looked at him very calmly as I held my phone like I was going to dial, and said "polly-see-uh?" I thought the veins were going to pop out of his head when he found some English and started screaming "Get Out". If a taxi driver in Rome gets caught not using the meter they are finished.

The regular taxi drivers a block away are not charged an airport fee nor airport taxes and neither are these fees passed on to you. I always wait for a regular passing cab at the drug store on the corner, 2 blocks away, where I buy my Viagra.

Just do not let a Cartagena hustler grab the handles to your bag or roller board, or they will ask/demand for a tip and try to put you in an airport fee cab. She said it in a way that normalized it to me. The fact that the two of them barely spoke two words to each other, made me realize that this is common. I have come to think that it is only a "hustle" if you are not getting any service out the deal.

I just visited your fine city. Just sharing some things from my experience.
Holy cow on the clock tower. A lot of the girls there look like theyre straight out of a magazine. Beautiful, and dozens to choose from.
Most of the girls are asking for 200 k pesos, or less than $70 US, but I found that most will negotiate a bit. But ask for a tip at the end.
The chicas know where the hourly hotels are. But just know they quote 50 k regardless of where they are going to take you. The nicer hotels are 50 k for the hour. BUT. Some of the hotels are only 30 k. And tip the girl 20 k for bringing them business.
The lesson? If your girl maybe hasnt had a date that night, you might be able to negotiate the room rate as well.
I spent 4 glorious nights there sampling the local fare. Without going to a single disco. Which, I hear, have a lot of beautiful women as well. Maybe next time on the discos.
Around dark, the clock tower comes alive. As well as getsemanni. Especially near Havana club and surrounding area.

I have been coming to Cartagena for years. I am here now. I have never seen so much ugly talent inside the clock tower square, club Space and Dolce Vita. Ugly, ageing hookers. I don't know what happened to all the young and pretty Venezuelanas from the past few years. Everyone's tastes are different, I am comparing mine to years of coming here, and Tinder dates and beach hookers, I have seen it all. It has gone down significantly and I doubt that any long timers would disagree.

I have been visiting Cartagena since 2009. I was there four weeks ago and I am a picky motherfucker, I always saw at least 6 around the clock tower that were stunners and a dozen more that were beautiful. Went to LDV once and it was equally if not more impressive. I saw maybe a few chicas that could have been in their late twenties but I also felt the need to ask a few chicas how old they were because they looked like they could have been under eighteen. I don't even know what to say when someone gives Cartagena a bad review, I just don't. I like latinas, and I may just be ignorant but I am not aware of any place in the world that has the convenience and selection for mongers than that area of walking distance between the clock tower and LDV and I have not even been inside Space. Because I didn't need to. People can complain about prices and services and have very valid points, but not the selection.

You are NOT doing your research apparently. I can verify that the Clock Tower is a good pick up spot and LDV and Space are good hunting grounds as well. Bocagrande during the day if you like the beach. Come to Cartagena and make the best of your visit. Don't let the inaccurate reports discourage you!

I normally make it a buffer before heading to Medellin for the weekend. I've stayed in Air BNBs and Hotels. Bocagrande and the old city. The water in the pipes have never come out at 95 degrees. Hahaha. Now I agree with most the days are so hot that a cold shower is not the worst. But let's be real here. Most apartments are air conditioned. If you are staying in a decently renovated apartment or hotel here you will most likely have your AC on full blast. After returning from the hot day walking into a cool apartment is a must for comfort. That bring said your body will adjust to the air in the apartment within seconds. Don't do that.Couldn't agree more. Rather you are 2 blocks away or at the terminal "You are a tourist still". The potential to get upcharged is still there. I have actually did the 2 block walk once and got the exact same price that you was offered when walking through the doors with my luggage. All the taxi guys know the prices. They know what they can get away with. And they also know that they must take what they can get with a minimum number in their head. The trick is to get that minimum number just like they want the maximum number you have in your head. Walk out to the main areas where all the taxis are lined up. Negotiate a price and go. Remember you are on vacation. If you are worried about saving 75 cents to a dollar by walking two blocks then I feel for ya. Best advice I can give is make sure they quote you in pesos!! I had one guy say 20. He purposely said 20 because he wasn't sure if I was going to give him 20 dollars or pesos. When I replied with pesos he smiled and said OK let's go no problem. I passed on him and got in a regular taxi with the prices set. He followed me begging and negotiating all the way until I got to a regular taxi. The guys 2 blocks away could be just as tricky.

I have been to Cartagena maybe 10 x in the last two years. I normally make it a buffer before heading to Medellin for the weekend. I've stayed in Air BNBs and Hotels. Bocagrande and the old city. The water in the pipes have never come out at 95 degrees. Hahaha. Now I agree with most the days are so hot that a cold shower is not the worst. But let's be real here. In Cartagena along the past 10-12 years I have stayed in 2 different 3-star hotels, one in Bocagrande and one near San Diego in centro, and they both had hot water.
In the last 5-10 years (sorry I cannot be more specific as I do not remember dates; time flies) I have always stayed in apartments in Laguito, not luxurious penthouses but normal apartments, and they all had hot water. The same was found by two friends of mine, who stayed in a 4-star hotel in Bocagrande and in an apartment in Laguito, respectively.
I did not find hot water in the shower, only in those cheap hotels in centro, where rooms are rented by the hour for 20k or less (guess why I was there).
I may only think that those who do not find hot water are probably staying in cheap low-category places.
(or in my apartments in Laguito I was actually using the water warmed up by the sun day time along the long pipes)

I used to try to set up weekend retreats with chicas I met on there but the two times I did both went badly. I took the bus to Barranquilla to hook up with the chica I was planning to bring back to Cartagena. After we lay down on the bed she tells me she needed the equivalent of $100 for a baby sitter for the weekend, and the equivalent of $400 dollars for herself for the weekend. All she ended up getting was taxi fare home, but I was also out the price of my round trip ticket to Barranquilla and the price of the room at the Hotel. Only after getting over being pissed about her deception did I think it was really worth it fucking her that one time LOL. I had talked to her for a couple of weeks prior to going to Colombia and the subject of money was never discussed other than I saying I would cover her expenses for the trip. For the exchange rate at the time this $400 for three nights and the days inbetween may not have been outrageous, but it was dishonest of her not tell me all this in advance, and no she did not threaten to call the cops or even really throw a fit, when I called her out on it. Having made a trip to Mexico City and gone out with 5 different chicas I met on Latinamerican that were not pros or semi-pros (fucked 3 out of 5 of those), I had no reason to suspect anything.
Ever since that I always get clarification, I do not want my time wasted. I do not want to be surprised. I want to enjoy my time on vacation, and I mosty I do.
All that being said, this is for me. If guys take dates on Tinder and the chica never mentions money then more power to them. I am in my fifties and look more like seventy, if a hot young chica responds to me on Tinder, you better bet that I am going to want to know "how much". Fifteen years ago when I first started venturing south of the border, it didn't cross my mind to ask. As for getting hit with a big bill at the end of a session, this I am just repeating from members on the forum warning me in posts and in PMs, no I cannot name another instance of chicas talking to the news but then again I doubt that makes the news when it does not involve secret service.
If you are a weak mf and do not know how to stand up for yourself, then yes, you should get prices up front in writing and on video and everything else. But if you are used to dealing with people then going with the flow is fine. I have fucked a couple thousand chicks and only one has tried that calling the cops shit. It was in the DR. As time goes on, and I see more, and more bad things happen I really am coming to understand that the best way to have trouble free action is in a Casa. All my Casa visits over the years have been trouble free. Of course sometimes a not great experence occurs, but never any drama. Also the Casa experence seems to be the most ecomonical way to have fun. Best part of all is if you find a Gem then you can try to get her away for even more fun.

I spent 6 years in the infantry, a few years riding with bikers, and a couple of years living in a place not of my choosing as a result of that lifestyle. But I guess you will just have to take my word for it that no one who knows me has ever accused me of being "weak". Let alone "being able to stand up for myself" . Yet this has nothing to do with the conversation. It is about wanting to know, before, what I am getting into, period.
I can not speak for anyone else but myself, but I quite simply like to know what I am getting into, not because I am "scared" or because I am going to pee in my pants when some chica calls the cops, but because I simply want to know. I do not go on vacation to deal with even the smallest of hastles. I do not want the fucking taxi to be late taking me to the airport, I do not want the plane to be delayed, I don't even want them to tell me that I have to check my carry on bag planeside. So wanted some vets advice on what is a good amount for a weekend stay for a girl to take with me on the weekend. I usually give her 500 k when in mde and she spends 14-15 hours with me per stay. Considering the expenses I would pay her flight food etc. Any thoughts?

Personally I think 500 k per day is all I would pay, the travel expenses are not something she's going to consider part of the package of pay, unless you've never been to Cartagena and is itching to go. Either way 500 k a day is plenty of pay for a prepago in Colombia.

I like to be clear about that out of respect for those who served in combat theaters. We trained hard and were prepared but never got that call to go anywhere and apply that training while I was in. They were preparing my unit for the jungles of Central America, and we always thought that we would end up in Honduras / Nicaragua, which part of my unit did a year later after I was already gone, but even they never had to fire a shot, because the Sandinistas ran away before it was necessary. To try and bring this post back to mongering though, we did our jungle training in Panama back then because the USA Still had military bases there. This was my first mongering adventure. We did a weekend pass in Panama City, I don't know what Panama city is like now but back then under Noriega's regime it was wide open. Some guy in our company who spoke Spanish said he was going to go try to score some "smoke" and a bunch of guys threw in some cash, the guy showed back up with a small trash bag full. The chicas in strip clubs / bars costs about $15 in early 1980's dollars, I was still a fresh private and 17 years old and many of those chicas were my age or younger. That wild weekend was a major contributor to my lifelong love of chicas. Three years after I got out, elements of my unit would also be part of the invasion of Panama. Which probably led to the end of $15 dollar chicas, so no good deed goes unpunished. LOL.

Great luck since not much of it and you learned a lot and did your part. You were ready though. But what a great intro to another life at 17! You got spoiled early! If you are a gringo, you confidently can walk right in to the Hilton Hotel lobby, use their pool, jacuzzi and exercise room. Except for a blue towel at the pool, you need to give a room number to get a towel.
Have never been questioned and rarely been checked in the exercise room entrance. Same for Dann Carlton hotels, never have been questioned.
The Hilton is pretty nice. I would just get a room there and relax if I wanted to use the facilities. Thankfully, I haven't had to sneak into places since I was a teenager.
The experienced monger knows that one should never start requesting TLN, but start with one shot, at minimum price, then add tips and a top-up if TLN sounds good, once you have tried chemistry.

When you see one rocking at a red light you will know what I mean, those drivers must be taking valium because that shit would get on my nerves if I was driving around a bunch of drunks rocking my bus.
I had those same type of questions way back in the day. How do you know she his working? If it is after say 10 PM and she is looking hot and she is just standing around either chatting it up with other chicas, or if she is alone and either standing still playing with her phone or looking around like she is bored, then she is 90% likely to be working. They do not all stand out like some SWs in other places by being half dressed, some are dressed elegantly and others dress down in tight jeans and a blouse, usually cropped so you can see the flesh of her midsection. . But if she is just standing around in Plaza de Los Coches after 10 pm, she is most likely working. Most other females in the plaza at that time of night are tourists and tourist are most like dressed way down, like in t-shirts, and they are usually just passing through.
