Many of the women in Cuba will spend all day with you or basically moving if you want because you are living in such luxury and you can take care of her nicely. Another issue that you probably should know about is that the exchange rate on the Internet is 3600 Colombian pesos for each dollar but the exchange places only give $3,200. When I use my credit card amazingly I get almost 3,700 so that's a really good rate but you can't use credit cards for everything.Welcome to 2021. My friend has a female friend in New York who is from Cartagena Colombia and she said the way that she does it when she visits is she wires herself money and then she can pick up at the bank at the high rate exchange with no fees. I'm skeptical because Banks live to charge fees but she swears up and down that there's no fees. There's a tiny fee like 1-2% hidden in the conversion either way. It will be less than cambios who can take up to 10%.

In Cartagena Colombia they generally leave pretty quickly. The women who seem to come from Bogota pretty much exclusively clearly more sophisticated intellectually than those from Cuba. The Colombian women seem extremely straightforward and honest. Cubans of all types are deceptive although they won't steal off of your table. But everything they say and do has to be looked at with complete and total skepticism. It's much more relaxed and relaxing in Cartagena Colombia. In Cuba you're in a military dictatorship. To be near the women in Cuba you're living in areas with many low-income people who are pretty close to desperate. Even high income areas in Cuba are filled with people who have virtually no money even if they have very valuable houses. The whole atmosphere there is a bit surreal which is certainly an adventure if you're up for it. But cah Cartagena is much less politically charged and much more stable and that makes things much simpler and happier.For what its worth you can wife up for cheap in Cartagena. It depends on the chica and the chemistry between you. Unlike Cuba, as you said, they are not desperate so don't feel the need to hang around unless they are enjoying their time with you.

The heat and humidity is just exhausting and takes all the joy out of walking and hunting for pussy in Cuba, agreed I was there in August but sweating buckets within minutes of getting out of my shower is just not fun. And 2. Yes they cling to you like white on rice.

This being said I did have some nice Cuban pussy in Havana just the heat and constant sweating takes the fun away.

Riquisimo is not that good. And Carbon de Palo is no more. So really not sure where to go from meat. But if you want a nice little seafood place try El Bony on the beach. The waitress can be a little confused with the food is very good especially the grilled fish. Probably not a good idea to go after 7: 00 pm. You will find the Venezuelan girls at the Clock Tower and Hollywood was pretty sparse. Much fewer girls than previously, but there was action at the clock tower even at 9:00. Best of luck. If you want to get a nice massage go to Hollywood and ask for Emily or Luz.

My best advice is to really just enjoy your trip and don't worry too much about getting laid-- it can be really more trouble than it's worth. It takes quite a bit of energy to find the right ones in that clock tower scene can be a little overwhelming....and you never know what you're going to get to you get the girl back in your room.

Interesting to hear your remarks about Sprint and Verizon not working in Colombia. For years, I have used TMobile and that service has worked for me in the past in Colombia but it has been several years since my last visit. However, Sprint acquired TMobile (or was it the other way around?) last year so I am now billed via Sprint. Supposedly, this deal happened in part so they could combine their networks with the international deals they had made with foreign telecom companies to share their towers etc.

If Sprint does not work, I would have to resort to a local SIM card so no big deal, just a minor inconvenience.

I deliberately disabled my American cell phone so I wouldn't get one of those huge bills that they talk about every once in awhile on the TV. Is there a way to keep your American SIM card active without getting a big Bill? What I've been doing is disabling the American phone and using a separate phone with a Colombian SIM card. In Cuba getting a SIM card is a huge thing because they're afraid of people plotting a counter revolution but in Cartagena it was very simple I just went to the first internet cafe near the apartment and asked for one and then also bought a 5 gig got a plan with unlimited phone usage and texting for 15 days for 50,000 pesos. If there's any alternatives to this I would love to hear it. If anyone's here let me know and we can meet for lunch or whatever.

Jet Blue changed my flight and now I arrive on a Monday instead of Wednesday. Fortunately, I can work remote so after about 1/2 pm I can get out and about. I might even work from a Juan Valdez if the internet connection is good.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I got the BS covid excuse from Jet Blue, but to not have ANY other options than to go two days early? I can understand adjusting the hours some, but this pissed me off. Initially. It's less than $100 for the two additional nights of lodging and then whatever I spend will basically be the same as when I'm at home. It was no longer needed with this plan and whatsapp. I am in Brazil now writing this through my T-mobile internet.

I have been with Verizon for 15 years and I can make my current Google Pixel work anywhere in the world. Many other phones bought through Verizon will also.

This is literally me copying and pasting a post I made only 2 days ago, with small modifications.

Over the years Verizon phones have changed but it still depends on the actual model of the phone, I used Verizon for years and my phone would be useless in Colombia. I had a cheap Chinese Galaxy clone dual SIM I used to carry down there. It did not work because not only does / did Verizon us CDMA technology but Verizon had them locked. Then when Google made the first deal with Verizon to sell their Google Pixel Phone they required that Verizon sell the phone "unlocked". Google was also selling the phone themselves in their Google Store so each phone is made as a multi band to work on any network. Now other phones have followed and I am fairly sure that all phones made by major manufacturers that sell through Verizon are multiband and work on most networks. Google Pixel phones also have the capability of being dual SIM because they have an eSIM capabilty, so when I am traveling I can keep my original number in case people at home are trying to contact me, and I download an eSIM from Google Fi to use when traveling because they do not charge for roaming and the data is reasonable. This is really handy if you are traveling to more than one country. I am posting an image of the description of a Galaxy S21 5 G, Apple iPhone SE (2020), ad the cheapo Galaxy A01 . According to this article linked below, Verizon only demands that your phone be locked to their network to the first 60 days. This article also addresses how to get it unlocked.

All that being said, I am not going to argue with someone's reasoning of having their primary phone locked up for your lifeline and carrying a burner monger phone. It is a safe way to go.

I personally do not worry about it being my lifeline though because everything that is on my phone is also in Google's Cloud, as with anyone who has Google email etc, if I lose my phone I can wipe it clean from Google Chrome browser on any computer. Deactivate that phone from my Verizon account. Then I can buy any Android phone, new or used, activate it with any service provider, as long as it has a factory reset, log into my google account with my Gmail and that phone will download and set up exactly the way the phone was that I lost.

One more thing that may sound silly but should be kept in mind is this. It is your screen time out time, This is especially true in Medellin where people are known to run by and snag a phone straight from your hand. When I am traveling I keep my phone at the lowest screen time out, 15 seconds, make sure your settings lock the phone at screen time out also, I am not sure they all do, anyway now all you have to do is give chase for 15 seconds to be sure your phone locks, if you are chasing that fool isn't going to focus on keeping that screen alive, and then will not have access to your phone and everything under the sun that is on there like Google Pay or Apple Pay etc. I am sure that I would give at least 30 seconds chase to be sure, and obviously you do not necessarily have to catch them, but just keep them nervous enough to not focus on that phone.

I would suggest to anyone that wanted a travel phone to go online and find a phone that works on Colombia's networks. According to medellinguru dot com -.

Lastly if a person is traveling between different countries and wants flexibility, if you do the research on compatible phones they could look at buying a used cell phone that is compatible with Google Fi, cost for service is 20 USD per month for service then 10 USD per GB data, there are no contracts so I cancel after one month, the advantage is no matter which country you land in you can use the same SIM and at most have to turn your phone off and on to lock into a signal when you land in a different country, I have used Google Fi in the Colombia, UK, Mexico, France, Spain, and the Czech Republic. The last three all in the same trip and the same SIM.

Getting a Sim card is good if you plan on talking locally minus WhatsApp or Internet connection. I switch from AT&T to T-Mobile. T-Mobile has a $35 10 day international pass. Free calling and texting to the US plus 5 G Internet. AT&T and Verizon charges $10 a day.
I chose this option because I don't like give out my passport information unless absolutely necessary. Cuba and now the Dominican republic both require you to give them your passport information before assigning you a Sim card. Prior to that, I unlocked all my phones and use a local Sim card when I touchdown.

It is cheaper to use an unlocked phone and buy local SIM card with data, and use the data from local SIM card to communicate internationally via whatsapp and emails.

Last night was first in Cartagena. I ended up staying at a place by the clock tower so ID frequently walk around in that area. I've never seen such creepiness, straight up ghouls will start walking with you just mumbling to themselves. I actually stopped and asked a guy to leave me alone, that I didn't want or need anything, and I just stood there mumbling and wondering what I might need or where I might be going. Later I gave one 10 yo 'kid' 10000 COP because it was his fourth time approaching and walking with me. Told him it was "too leave me alone for the rest of the night. " he might've taken it wrongly but I doubt it, you cannot give these people your attention in any form. Next thing I knew there was a guy on a bike encroaching upon me, and a taxi with the driver leaning halfway out the window to offer me stuff. It was from a movie. Told the kid "what'd I give you 10000 for?" he goes "10000 is nothing, pizza costs 20000 and I have brothers / sisters. " Another guy then approached me on foot and I looked over and saw a pub bouncer right there so I just stopped and let the goons walk off. I went into the pub.

Helplessly looking like a tourist and travelling alone is NOT a recipe for success here.

Aside from that, went too paraisa del marino last night and holy shit was it popping. 40+ hot girls looking fire.

I had a really sketchy night overall but one dude I met on the street said he'd take care of me and be my guide. Actually followed through on his word. I was at the clock tower tonight because I wanted to see what was going on there. There's a lot of women almost all from Venezuela mostly pretty hardcore. They all are selling sex by the hour.

There's also a lot of men walking around trying to get you to go up the street with them and then ask you for money. The problem is these men don't have a market Niche strategy. Say what you want about Tony he is providing a very valuable service her people who are looking for that service. These guys have nothing to offer and they're not sure who their market is and even what they're selling. So I would just tell them no and follow that with another no and then soften a bit and say no thank you and that usually was sufficient.

Don't ever actually engage them in any discussion and certainly never give them any money. It will only encourage them to be more aggressive and if they can come close to you they can pick pocket you or even mug you. Of course The logical question is what is the relationship between these men wandering around with nothing to sell and the women wandering around with something very obvious that they're selling. Are they boyfriends and girlfriends or are they even all from the same country? I don't have any idea. I spoke with several of the women but none of them really appealed to me at all. At about 10:00 they moved from the square in small groups toward la dolce vida. Most of them seem to go into that club where some of the others in the same area.

Of the women I took their phone numbers, pretty much all of them texted me later that evening so it doesn't seem like any of them found a guy. Actually they're not looking to find a guy they're looking to get money. I don't mind helping women out but when it's only about money it's not really very enticing.

But getting back to John Wick, of course you should get rid of that tour guide immediately and probably move out of the old city which is just loaded with scammers and hustlers of every type. Just to see what was going on I stopped a fruit seller, to ask how much a 2000 peso papaya was going for. 10,000 he proudly told me.

I bought chips in Claro in CR and the best deal was in Bogota at the TransMilenio station for 20,000 cop. For me I find using my phone, with all my contacts and previous texts to follow up on and calls to and from the states is much more convenient for me. I will say bringing a cheap world phone is a good idea because of the wide spread cell phone theft in Bogota. To each his own.

Last night was first in Cartagena. I ended up staying at a place by the clock tower so ID frequently walk around in that area. I've never seen such creepiness, straight up ghouls will start walking with you just mumbling to themselves. " Another guy then approached me on foot and I looked over and saw a pub bouncer right there so I just stopped and let the goons walk off. I went into the pub.

Helplessly looking like a tourist and travelling alone is NOT a recipe for success here.

TIA.Not many people do this, I personally have done this a couple of times but it was after I had developed a rapport with certain chicas. Last night was first in Cartagena.Honestly, after reading all this, if I were living in CTG I would move to Centro just to chase you and squeeze out some money from a helpless first-time tourist.

- You have given around the impression to have no clue where to go.

- You have given 10 k to a kid (If I want to help a street kid there, I'd give no more than 1k or 2k. After giving 1k, you will be surrounded and chased by a swarm of his friends, who have seen you give money. Imagine if they see you gave 10 k and pass the word around.

- Totally pointless the idea to offer drinks to a "new friend" and his friends. Spending $90 for that (hoping for what back?) is simply crazy. You should not spend such an amount to offer drinks and have fun with a bunch of girls, imagine with that group of guys. Now they have passed the word around. Avalanche effect. Imagine ten times more people chasing you from that night on.

If that was not enough, in these COVID times I cannot imagine a tourist traveling to Colombia to have fun, disregarding the risk to get sick, or however the risk to get stranded in a foreign land, for example (but this is not the only case) because found positive the day before the flight. This means that currently:
a) there are less tourists;
b) there are more desperate people in need of cash to sustain themselves and their families;
c) hence there is more pressure of desperate people on tourists.
You have put gasoline on a fire burning high already.

Imagine if T-Mobile and AT&T were still so technically prehistoric to be stuck with GSM and not have moved to 3 G or 4 G (both can use CDMA).

ANY decent modern phone today is multi-standard and multi-band. It means it can connect to the best (highest capacity) network available among all signals received. Likewise, the same phone able to connect to say a 4 G LTE network in a country, where some set of bands is allocated to LTE operators, will be also able to connect to 4 G LTE networks in another country, where another partially or fully disjointed set of bands is allocated to LTE.

Many years have passed since the old times when there was the European GSM and the American GSM, and most GSM phones were dual-band but not four-band, thus able to work in both worlds.

The only case of lack of compatibility is when the device lacks a specific band, which damn is the only used by your operator in the country you visit. It happened to me with my 4 G mobile wifi router in Ecuador, which was not able to connect to 4 G because the band allocated to 4 G operators in Ecuador was one of the very few missing in my device.

The only possible reason why "you can't use a Sprint phone on a T-Mobile network, or a Verizon Wireless phone with AT&T" is that those phones are locked and do not allow to connect to competing operators, regardless the type of network.

The ambient and dishes are of an upper category vs. Riquisimo. Good meat on charcoal grill. Yet, definitely not a place I miss when in my country I dream about old times in CTG.

If you want a good dinner, go to Centro! Best meat for me is at Quebracho, parrilla Argentina. Also there, expect to see gringos with their siliconized putas pretending to be a novia, but the quality of the dinner is high. I recommend not only the steaks, but also the sucking pig cooked on wood for hours (home speciality).

She won't be that helpful. You need to understand the mindset over there. There are two important things about it:

(1) Everyone has a right to work. Don't fuck with how people earn money. That's why you rarely see restaurant workers chase away vendors who bother people on patios.

(2) You're an endless money machine. She probably thinks beyond what you're giving her you have the ability to give 10 x more.

I mean she could be helpful and negotiate but the touts will resent her big time if she helps you too much. Generally, chicas won't want to go the extra mile and have to deal with the repercussions.

The way to do this properly is to get a tout to arrange things for you but only do this if you're going big. Getting your own boat etc. Then he can be your waiter too. My tout, when I take a boat out to Cholon, will go to the restaurant to order food and negotiate everything including his cut from them. We bring our own alcohol. I then give him a tip after we're done. This only works if you're going to be spending anyway.

Otherwise get used to getting fucked a little. Ask for the price of everything, keep all the bottles on you until the end so you have an account. You can also insist he write things down and take your own notes if you want. I've seen people do that.

In Spanish culture men take the lead in negotiations. You should negotiate knowing fully well you are still going to pay the gringo price. Talking to few people will get you an idea about the approximate price. Do not make her uncomfortable asking her to negotiate for everything.

Only real girlfriend will do that. My Chinese GF negotiated everything when we were together and toured everywhere. She also knew to go to the airport and get the cheapest price at the check in counter rather than booking ahead. Many a time they upgraded us.

I do not know if you will be successful in finding a fun girl who is non pro. It is not Thailand or Philippines. Better to meet and stay together couple of days before taking any trips together. Unless there is mutual love it will be boring.

Yippie, yes I totally agree that in person is better than online. Since I'm a newcomer here I thought it would be prudent to try all possibilities. Tinder was $30 for the month so if I did meet some nice woman it would be definitely worth it. They show up at my place, we share some booze and weed, play music, have fun for 15-20 min to lighten the mood and then fun for an hour naked maybe 2, and then I go to the beach or to get eats.

My guess is there is zero chance that the Hyatt will allow you to bring in a non registered guest. I have a friend who stays yearly at the Hotel Santa Clara Sofitel and he has told me that bringing or sneaking in non-registered guests is strictly forbidden. It's an incredible amount of information being shared. I've made lists, copied certain paragraphs and saved links to reports that provided a great overview or nuggets of specific information that might be handy.

I've also messaged a few members and they were more than helpful. I think if you show some effort, it makes members want to help. You can come across as extremely lazy if not entitled, by asking someone to basically hold your hand.

What's weird is that you hardly ever hear back from these people and there never seems to be a trip report. Talk about all take and no give. Do some of these people even wind up traveling to that destination? I'm beginning to doubt it.

Thanks guys. I do look at past posts. But let's face it, our beloved site has not seen any change in 20 years; the site's antique design is not conducive to finding information. Sometimes I am discouraged to write reports myself because I know after maybe a few days it will be buried in a hundred-pages-long thread and never be seen again.

But still I write my reports, and respond to any questions I chance upon when I visit, because for the locations I am familiar with, it takes seconds to send a fellow tourist in the right direction.

For HK I can tell you to check www.******.com, or go roam around Temple Street late in the evening. Expect 5-600 HKD a pop.

For Singapore I can tell you to go to Geylang's even-numbered streets and promoters will drag you into their shops. 80-100 SGD for Chinese and less for other ethnicities.

For Jakarta I can tell you just walk into Classic Hotel levels 2 and 5. Going rate is 365000 IDR + tips.

For China I can tell you the country is in a 6-year long enforcement so everything is going underground.

For Taiwan I can tell you it's overpriced.

For Pattaya I can tell you no preparation is needed.

These take me seconds to share. In the same amount of words I tell someone to read past reports, I can give something more useful. Choice is clear.

I write longer reports because it's like a trip diary to me. Years later I can still recall my trips reading my own posts. It's not in response to anyone asking me to share info; nor do I care whether readers have done their homework. These are precious memories and trophies to show off; to me, the more people see my report the merrier. A group of my friends and I wanted to go to Cartagena and our preferred dates to travel would be April 23 to May 2. I researched and found out that on May 1, Labour Day transpires there. Being this day falls on the 2nd weekend of and last leg of our trip, I was hoping if anyone could tell me if there would be less girls, less action due to it being holiday? Beach- Things have changed roped off areas for cabanas Tony number #1 has moved (see pic) West under the coast guard type hut in front of the Hotel Dann. Two chairs and tarpa are 20 mill total set my mayors office. Other beach touts are hustling to get gringos girls at the beach as well as I spend a lot of time there watching with the exception of FAO he doesn't do any of that only sits back watches his cabanas. Kiosko #4 (see pic) is where the action is or comes by at the most part on any given day from 2 PM till 5 PM when the beach closes, beers are 5 k no fee for table or cabanas. Assume are girls are working in that area. Beach days vary greatly day by day I love the holidays, I couldn't care less if girl is with her family or not it isn't like her mom didn't go to work when she was younger. Beach girl prices I haven't paid more than 150 mill for any as I haven't seen and super models it seems the quality from pre covid is down a notch but semana santa is coming soon and I expect it to get better. I always throw out the 80 k offer first before a girl gives me a price then if she demands 200 k I say two times no condom, this worked 100 percent of time so far for me, some complain big deal I am not their keeper, service isn't compromised in general. Be aware girls are on another level of stealing here now during covid, take extreme measures to hide your things, do not share a drink in your room or have a smoke with any of them. Keep in mind Tony has hundreds of girls in his phone if you are looking something special and can't find. No real need to get Tony or anyone else if you are paying attention girls walk by.

Edificios. Still be aware where you stay just because you messaged an airbnb host doesn't mean a god damn thing. Venezuala girls in a lot of buildings aren't let in without a passport and permission to be here from the Colombian government. To avoid this problem ask in advance these questions or know where Hotel El Viajero Centro is next to the LDV or Mar why Sol in Bocagrande. El Viajero is much nicer 30 mill short time, or make sure you stay in one of the approved chica friendly buildings on the map.

ISIS is not closed but their hours are very strange 11 pm Thursday through Saturday.

LDV was there 3 times good quality.

Clock tower not what is was pre covid touts annoying AF I chase them with brass knuckles they run off. I had them left over from living in centro MDE.

Pleyclub was there once the old manager from ISIS when it used to be behind Hard Rock cafe is still there, quality of girls little curvy or chubby for me.

Chica Linda is literally right next to Pleyclub now no need for cab if you are group of two is like 100 feet away. Chica prices and beers lot cheaper than Pleyclub.

El Mirador cafe and bar on top of Torre del Rojo hotel is good place to visit once to have beer (pic below) mostly gringos with boyfriends.

Was in Santa Marta Rodadero, and Taganga couple weeks ago avoid like the plague, beaches are blocked reservation only, Malecon and beach blocked in Santa Marta for construction actually is beautiful but I think 3 months out before opening. Bananas, Olds bar closed permanently, Parque de Novios not much to look at a complete waste of time going maybe a year from now be better.

NO one knows what Cartagena is like until they get there, know one knows what it is like to walk into a night club and its 3-1 chicks to guys and there is a full range of 7-9's and they will go home with you if the price is right, then depending on the night there might be another 75 in the plaza sanding around. These again you can walk around and talk to them and size them up. Where as if you get on Tinder (which some prostitutes use to do business. I am in my later 50's so when a young women responded I know she is pro) but Tinder is not really needed and honestly there is a good chance that the chica you are chatting with on Tinder is standing in the plaza or LDV while she is chatting with yoou.

There is only one good pedestrian street running through Laguito. Just find the Hilton hotel is at the end of that street and then follow along the street that runs parallel to the ocean (Calle 1 B), the one that runs along the lake is not a good pedestrian street.

Normally that would mean you're allowed to have guests but that after 8 pm You have to register them but less he has stayed there you don't really know what kind of policies going to be applied. I was in Cartagena last month. Chica pricers we’re higher than the normal areas however the curfew begin at 2 o’clock. That was enough time for me to enjoy the nightlife and all that it brings. Shit just got ugly down there. They have strains of the virus now that are more contagious and more deadly so a greater number of people end up in ICU

According to this article the hospital system in Bolivar had been filling up already from overflow from the surrounding departments of Sucre, Atlantico, Magdalena and Cordoba because "they previously declared the collapse of their hospital network" (I assume he just means over they overflowed) so this includes Santa Marta and Barranquilla. That is some fucked up shit.

So I think I would start considering asking chicas not just for their Whatsapp number but also to see the last digits of their cedula , if they do end up starting that shit where certain numbers on cedulas determine who can go out on certain days then it would help to know which chicas to message on which days.

The only deal breakers are a 6 pm curfew, no beaches, and the cedula even / odd day crap. Out of my 7 days, if I can hit the different beaches / islands, maybe day trip to Palenque, walk the old city and Getsemani, this should be enough to give me options if I get bored during the day time.
