Thanks BF. Anyone knows anywhere closer to (or ideally in Poblado? I have friends staying at the Mansion that I will be seeing daily and don't really fancy spending my morning / evening in Medellin traffic.
Those prices are great though. Truth be told I've never stayed in Laureles after dusk so not sure how safe it is. Especially when one has had a bit to drink!Laureles is fine at night, unless you're falling down drunk. But, no place is safe when you're that drunk.
Why deal with traffic going from Laureles to Poblado? Depending on your walking pace, San Peter Suites is 5 to 10 minutes away from the Estadio metro station. Take the metro to San Antonio station, switch trains to Poblado station and you're there in 15 minutes. From there grab a taxi to the Mansion, or better yet to Centro Comercial La Strada, where you can meet your friends and have an excellent breakfast at Al Alma Cafe. It's just a short walk down hill from the Mansion.

San Peters Suites. It's economical, no chica fee and is in the best location in terms of everything.Their beds are terrible though. Felt like I was sleeping on a rock.

Hotel Du Parc Royal is right on Parque Lleras. Its very nice and girl friendly. I've stayed there. I've also used airbnb and stayed in condos in Poblado. You will need to ask if they are guest friendly to confirm before booking. Personally, I like the airbnb route, but the nice hotels are very good option. If I were staying back in that area, I would opt for something very close to Lleras. The area around Pobaldo and lleras is pretty hilly and not as easy to walk like say Laureles neighborhood.

Also if anyone knows of girl friendly hotels please reply.You're going to want to do some basic research. Parque Lleras is an area that's located in Poblado. You can't stay in Parque Lleras without staying in Poblado, although you can stay in Poblado and not in Parque Lleras.
Some of the high end hotels are girl friendly. Some aren't. Simply email the hotels you are interested in and ask about their guest policy.
There are several rentals around Parque Lleras or convenient to Parque Lleras that are girl friendly. You can also search for Poblado Rentals and First American Investment Realty for 2 companies offering girl friendly apartments.

Prep work Before the trip:
Read every post for the past year or so. Reached out to Medellin mongers with a public and private requests for specific contacts. Haven't received any good contacts from anyone. Built a 60+ girls FB list. Deleted several by just keeping about 15 girls that I liked, Yes I am really picky. Took a 7 day subscription to SA. Carefully weeded out FB girls, Pros and semi pros etc. Final list was about 6 girls. Joined Vane's WA group too and exited as I didn't liked the talent.
Booked San Peters Suites in Laureles via AIRBNB. Fantastic location with everything (Exito, Medical shops, Metro station and lots of local restaurants and food options) nearby. But it is a basic single bed room apartment with 24 hour front desk. There is a loud music from the street until 2 am daily. Didn't bothered me though. I used the ATM to withdraw the COP's and the exchange rate was way better than Money changer rates.
Day1:
After Landing, Took a white taxi for 75 K cop to my hotel / room. Earlier in the day, fixed an appointment with FB girl Valentina Zapata to come by at 7 PM. She was communicating well throughout the day, but she went offline (on both FB and WA) from 6. 45 PM for the rest of the night. She sent me a text next day with an apology, with a silly reason for missing the appointment and requesting another appointment.

Conclusion:

You are 100% correct on what you said. Seen prettier and / or stunners (occasional) in the streets / Metro. It just that I expected more quality in those places.

I know there is no certainty to anything being safe or dangerous but if I am careful, not getting wasted, am I going to be ok going out for a drink or dancing?
2. I think I have decent radar for people that are trying to pull some bull shit. Like a woman that is faking her attraction of me in order to take advantage of me. In other words, I am not going to buy bottles for a crew of blazing hot chicks that I know wouldn't otherwise giving me the time of day. My question is, do you guys have experiences when a girl has been totally normal (almost conservative) and then totally turned on you into one of the crazies?
3. How safe / acceptable is it to pick up chicas on the street in El Pablabo on the weekend? Provided they pass the sniff test for me (granted, again nothing is guaranteed), if I start walking with one of these broads and we get into a taxi / uber am I going to get shaken down by a police officer just for being with her?
4. Anyone ever been to club MUTE in Itagui? I'm into techno / house music and the place looks wicked. But I haven't seen much info on Itagui and there are always shady people in clubs like this. I am totally comfortable with them here in the states but wondering if it's not a smart move going by myself to that area and that scene in Colombia.

1) You'll be fine going to clubs and bars in Poblado or Laureles by yourself at night. Just watch your drink. But I think it would be better to invite a chick to go out with you. You can always trade up.
2) Never had one go crazy on me but I did have to forcibly remove one from my apartment because she refused to leave.
You can save yourself a lot of trouble by only bringing one chick back to your place at anytime. Every single time I have had an unpleasant experience with a chick I picked up. It was because there was more than one in my apartment. Never again. If I can't separate her from her friends she isn't coming over no matter how hot she is.
3) Little chance of the police bothering you for picking up street walkers in Lleras but why bother unless your other plans fell though. Lleras street walkers are some pretty low hanging fruit. Much better things to do. Every now and then you'll see a nice one but very rarely.
4) I have never been to MUTE but I would find a chick or two than liked techno and go with them. When you take chicks out and you are buying the drinks You do what you want. So if you see another hot chick just go for it. Unless you haven't fucked the chicks you are with and didn't pay. You can do what you want.

I have never had an unpleasant experience with the police in Medellin, and I have been there more than 30 times in the past eight years. I have seen some attractive women around Parque Lleras. Most of the time, I have seen them on the street between the park and Hooters.

Can anyone report on MX peso to COP rates?Many years ago I used to travel to South America quite frequently on business. I was always hosed exchanging one countries currency for another. You will get a far worse rate exchanging MNP for COP than the equivalent of exchanging USD for COP.
Lots depends on the country you are currently in. For example, if you're in the US and never plan to go to Mexico ever again, exchange the MNP for USD. Yes, you'll take a hit but I don't think it will be worse than trying to exchange MNP to COP in Colombia. If you do plan to visit Mexico again, just save your MNP (it is worth about $800 USD) for your next trip.

First I want to start out with ahhh, I love this place. Great climate, Great Food, and Great Chicas! I spent my first 3 night at the Mansion which was nice, it was a little slower than usual because they had just opened again from being shut down. The M is nice because everything is self contained, the chicas are there and you can order food to be delivered there. Yes, some guys visit Medellin and never leave the M. This however is not my style as I like to be out with the local population too and do some touristy stuff. The guys will hang out by the pool in the day and swap stories on their adventures and there will be some fun people to hang out with. During this time different chicas will be coming in and hanging out too. The girls will be anywhere from 5-9's and really do have it in their best interest to please you because it's a privilege for them to be allowed in. You can pull from the local talent and can bring them in to the M but I like to support the ones that are already there.
It's not uncommon for guys to bring in food and feed 4-6 chicas and give them drinks, kind of like a fun party. Why deal with traffic going from Laureles to Poblado? Depending on your walking pace, San Peter Suites is 5 to 10 minutes away from the Estadio metro station. Take the metro to San Antonio station, switch trains to Poblado station and you're there in 15 minutes. From there grab a taxi to the Mansion, or better yet to Centro Comercial La Strada, where you can meet your friends and have an excellent breakfast at Al Alma Cafe. It's just a short walk down hill from the Mansion.

It appears like Medellin and other SA destinations are becoming more lucrative for US Mongers as the flight from NYC is only 5 to 6 hours and girls pricing is very affordable. Not sure what you mean by downtown. This is not the States and such a concept doesn't really exist in SA. If you mean El Centro then stay clear. Otherwise anywhere in Poblado will be fine. A few of the guys here stay in Laureles which is a nice area for nightlife. Full disclosure I've never personally stayed there myself but JBee62 (who is by far one of the most experienced and knowledgeable guys here) recommends it which is honestly more than enough for me.

Stick with Poblado. Use airbnb and similar services or search the forum for gringo landlords in Poblado, there are plenty. Expect to pay girls 250-300 K or so to overnight with you there. I would go with Laureles area on my 1st trip. There is plenty of action around. I much prefer it to Poblado. As far as hotels I don't use them, I prefer Airbnb. Also there are several love motels in laureles that are great to use and cheap. I prefer to bring girls there instead of my apartment.

Hotel Du Parc Royal is right on Parque Lleras. Its very nice and girl friendly. I've stayed there. I've also used airbnb and stayed in condos in Poblado. If I were staying back in that area, I would opt for something very close to Lleras. Also, if I am stuck on the street waiting to meet someone to get into the apartment I rented, am I going to be a bulls eye target rolling luggage and a bag around on the street in the afternoon? - I am staying right around the Carrera 43 A & Calle 10 crossing in a apartment. Is the walk from there to the Parque Lleras area safe at late night / early hours for a solo American?. It seems like such an easy distance, but if I am dressed up, is a cab best?
- Are there any rooms "by the hour" or for $10-20 if I need to make a detour in this area? Seems I may not want to bring everyone back to my apartment for safety. If there are Street girls in the area, I'the assume they have to go somewhere.

Taxis from the airport have a fixed rate to Poblado. I think it is 65,000 or 70,000 COP. There should be a sticker in the windshield showing the rate, but confirm before you leave the airport. After you go through customs, you will go through a lot of people asking if you need a taxi. Tell then "No, gracias" and continue walking out to the street unless you want to go to an ATM. If going to an ATM, walk straight from customs and there are ATM's just a short distance on the right. Once you get to the street, there will be official airport taxis there. They are white with blue lettering. If there are no taxis waiting, there will be someone with a clipboard who will summon a taxi. You will be safe waiting at the apartment.
The walk between your apartment and Parque Lleras is safe, but why do you want "dress up"? Dress like the locals.
I've never used a short-term room in that area. There is a place near your apartment. The name is Las Cabaas, CL 14 Cra 43 F-65. From their web site, it is a little expensive, 98 mil for 6 hours for a cabin. Don't pick up two girls near Parque Lleras, only one. Too many things can go bad with two girls you don't know.

Haha.First stop at an ATM (marked "Cajero") and withdrawal some Colombian pesos. When you exit the airport, look at the wall of the terminal. There's a big sign posted with the set rates for lots of destinations. I believe Poblado is 70 k right now. You'll see a line of white taxis. Go to the front of the line and ask "cuanto cuesta?" If he gives a price more than 5 k over the posted price, go to the next one and ask.
Calle 10 and Carrera 43 A is a busy, safe area. You should be fine. Just put your luggage against the building and stand in front of it.

At night you might want a long sleeve shirt or light jacket. Temperature will get to the low 60's. Depends on how you are with that temperature.
Walking to Parque Lleras is no problem day or night. It's slightly uphill, but not too bad.

When you get to Parque Arvi walk to the road, go 100 ft left and wait (or get on) the brightly painted old ford Jingle bus, it's free and will take you to the entrance (small fee) to the neat part of the park, nature walk, butterfly garden, open air restaurant, lake, walk around the right side of the lake and it will take you to the rental rowboats, can be a fun day there.

Trip report for my visit to Medellin and Bogota from 1/15-1/20.
FYI: My Spanish is very limited and this was my first trip to Colombia.
Day 1 : Landed early morning and did an early checkin at my AirBnB in Park Lleras. Then showered, rested, had lunch and went for a walk around Park Lleras. Pretty dead during weekday daytime. Wandered around some more got familiar with the place and went back to my room. In the evening park Lleras got busy, lot of tourists and some working girls walking around. Is 400 k the night still the normal at fasa? When I was at there back in September most chicas wanted at least 600 k for the night and didn't want to come down, so let them go.
