1. Yes, you can bring and use your own condoms. As a side note, Luna Lunera charges a condom fee you don't have to pay if you bring your own. I don't know what that fee is, I always have my own condoms.

What I did right I learned from them. What I messed up was my own fault. Here's a report of the proceedings.

I started getting ready for this trip back in April. Read two years of ISG posts and made notes re the FB chicas who interested me. Created a Facebook page and sent out friend requests. Last Friday I went to two strip bars Barra Ejecutiva and Luna Lunera. Barra Ejecutiva is in el centro and is pretty cheap compared to clubs like fase dos. You don't pay to get in and half a bottle of rum is 80 k, not sure how much other drinks are but a small beer (called a costenita, just google it for an idea of what it looks like) and a double baileys are 15 k and 25 k when you buy them for the chicas. By comparison fase dos is 20 k to enter and 25 k for a beer for you and bottles start at around 150 k. Girls will come and talk to you in Barra Ejecutiva if you have a bottle and you can talk to a few and enjoy the girls dancing on the catwalk. Last year it was 80 k to go upstairs for half an hour but this seems to have increased to 90 k minimum with a couple of girls asking 100 k to 120 k. I like this place, its cheap and you can find a couple of really nice girls for decent prices, although it does get pretty busy and there aren't many gringos so it could be intimidating, but I like the vibe. If you want to see one outside they are all too keen to give you their whatsapp but they usually don't finish work until 4 am..For something completely different go check out Bar Show Montijo. It's a complete dive. Tiny place downstairs with about 6 tables and a tiny bedroom in the corner. There's generally only 3 or 4 girls there. The little chica beers are 6 k and Pilsen is 3 k.

I think you mean Mayorista. And its not in el Centro. Its pretty much west directly west of el poblado. You can definitely pick up chicks in Parque LLeras. At least you could when I was last there about 2 or 3 years ago. Someone else whose been there more recently might have more insight into recent changes.

To get there take the Metro south (Niquia is the north end, Las Estrellas is the south) to Ayura station. After you come up the stairs and exit, turn left. You'll go through a few blocks that might look scary to you. Lots of street vendors. Just keep walking west, past the gas station. When you get to the casino "Paraguas", you've arrived. Mayorista is located in Itagui.
El Centro is north from El Poblado and the Mansion. You'll probably want to take a taxi. Tell them Plaza Botero. If you're feeling cheap and adventurous hop on one of the yellow buses going north. I think they're 2200 pesos now. You'll need to pay attention. I usually get off around Parque San Antonio, but you'll probably want to go a few blocks further. Just push the button by the rear door when you want the driver to stop.
You can pick up girls around Parque Lleras, but you'll pay a premium. The selection is very slim until after 10 pm. You can often find girls in the various clubs. Prices start high and go up to ridiculous. Some are scammers. I remember one cute girl trying to talk me into a 3 some and the other one certainly looked like a trannie.
Honestly, your best bet, if you're staying at the Mansion, is to get Facebook info from the girls there. Then mine their friend lists for more girls. You're paying more to stay there. You may as well get the most out of it.
If you want to venture out more, which is a good thing, I recommend using the Metro. You can hop on a bus along Avenida Poblado, going north to Parque Poblado. Get off and go down the hill on Calle 10. That will take you to the Poblado station. Go north (north, and, Niquia, remember) to Parque Berrio. This is your starting point.
Exit the station into the plaza area. There will be a big crowd of people. You're going to need to get used to them, because you'll find lots of people in El Centro. If you find yourself in an area with very few people, you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. Find a clear spot on the steps and sit down.
After a few minutes you'll realize they're just normal people, going about their business. There are girls with Thermos selling tinto (coffee) and there are people talking. Once you recognize it's not a dangerous mob of criminals, it's time to take a walk.
Walk down the steps and head north. You'll see a pink Flamingo store to the right. Ahead, to the left is the Palace of Culture. You can't miss it. It's built from alternating dark and light gray blocks. Turn left, cross under the Metro and walk west. The palace will be on your right, a line of shops on the left. You are entering the south end of Plaza Botero.
Walk around Plaza Botero. Admire the statues. Admire the women. Look for some landmarks. The first one is an old, white church, Iglesia Veracruz. It's at the southwest corner of Plaza Botero. The other landmark is the Museum of Antioquia which is western border or the plaza, along the northern half.
Before you venture further it's time for a warning. Your phone should be kept in your front pants pocket. Your money should be in the other front pants pocket. Do not let anyone grab ahold of you, put their arms around you or get too close. Some of the working girls, especially the trannies, can be aggressive. If someone reaches for you, block them with your hand and say "no. " Usually that's enough.
Now comes the scary part (for some people). Alongside the church is a walking street. Head west alongside the church. Stay to the middle or the left. The trannies usually lineup against the side of the church. At the corner you'll see several working girls. To the left (south) is a casino. Just past the casino there may be some girls sitting in a stairway. You won't find much else in that direction.
Head north. Both sides of the street are lined with working girls. Some might call to you, some will click their tongues at you. Continue north until you come to a big opening on the right. This will take you back to Plaza Botero.
If you're not ready to run back to the Mansion, start expanding your walk. There's plenty to see.

After I submitted the online application, it says the payment needs to happen in COP with a Colombian debit or credit card which I don't have. Talking to the consulate they say the only alternative is to drive to the nearest consulate in US and Pay in person. Nearest consulate is too far for me. Any suggestions on people who went through this? I don't know anyone in Colombia so I can pay them in USD. We are talking 50 $ initially and $80 after visa approval. Please let me know. Thanks.

What is a sacalero?It's a glue sniffer, saca in Spanish means sack, so if you see someone with a small plastic bag that they are inhaling and exhaling into, they are called "Sacaleros". What they do is they put glue which is called pegamento in Spanish in a bag and get high off the solvents such as toluene and naphthalene, or whatever the ingredients that are used in the glue there.
There used to be an area in El Centro called "Sacalero Row" where the Sacalero Chicas would be lined up, and some of them were pretty hot. A couple friends of mine sampled them, some were really spaced out as you can imagine and you could do just about anything you wanted with them. However, they can have bad a stench to them from the chemicals they had been inhaling. Kind of like someone who is a heavy smoker who has a bad odor. There are sacalero's out there if you want to sample one, typically they will be very thin and go with you for very cheap and like I said will do just about anything you want because they are so zonked out. Best to stay away from them, but you could end up with one and not even know it.

A love motel tryout makes a lot of sense. It takes a lot of stress and risk out of the equation and makes it easy to cut losses and move on if the date doesn't go well. September 6, 2019.
Had a great day today, met up with Nounce and VsebudetNY and we hung out in Parque Botero. In the beginning it was just VsebudetNY and I. However, since you sound your like not afraid of your own shadow, I suggest you park yourself in front of the Premium Plaza Hotel about 100 feet away from the Intersection of Carrea 52 and Calle 52 which will have a large street sign identifying this location in what I call ground zero in EL Centro.
Just hang there in the afternoon around 4 PM and all kinds of girls will be walking around, etc. When you find something you like, don't agree to pay any more than 30 K, use this as a benchmark because some of the girls will ask for more from a foreigner but almost will all go for this amount as it is more than the locals pay.
Use the Hotel Premium Plaza, I think about 16 K, very clean, hot water, and they check ID's. If the girl suggests somewhere else, say no, not that are aren't other Hotels, but this will be your safest bet. My flight was at 2:10 AM. I took the LAST 10 PM bus from El Centro - 100 feet from the entrance to Ayenda 1235 Botero hotel. The cost is 10.000 COP. The trip took 55 min. There were 2 more passengers in the bus. Nice and comfortable.
This is huge, I have never been to el Centro, and I don't scare easily so ill meander around and see what I can come up with. I will report back, and give a run down of the current situation at the Manson. I do know room 109 is down and anyone with that room booked right now is being put into M2. Not sure how long it will be down for.
That would be Mayorista. Now that you mention it, there is a bit of a Tijuana feel to it. To get there take the Metro south (Niquia is the north end, Las Estrellas is the south) to Ayura station. After you come up the stairs and exit, turn left. You'll go through a few blocks that might look scary to you. Lots of street vendors. Just keep walking west, past the gas station. When you get to the casino "Paraguas", you've arrived. Mayorista is located in Itagui.
El Centro is north from El Poblado and the Mansion. You'll probably want to take a taxi. Tell them Plaza Botero. If you're feeling cheap and adventurous hop on one of the yellow buses going north. I think they're 2200 pesos now. You'll need to pay attention. I usually get off around Parque San Antonio, but you'll probably want to go a few blocks further. Just push the button by the rear door when you want the driver to stop.
You can pick up girls around Parque Lleras, but you'll pay a premium. The selection is very slim until after 10 pm. You can often find girls in the various clubs. Prices start high and go up to ridiculous. Some are scammers. I remember one cute girl trying to talk me into a 3 some and the other one certainly looked like a trannie.
Honestly, your best bet, if you're staying at the Mansion, is to get Facebook info from the girls there. Then mine their friend lists for more girls. You're paying more to stay there. You may as well get the most out of it.
If you want to venture out more, which is a good thing, I recommend using the Metro. You can hop on a bus along Avenida Poblado, going north to Parque Poblado. Get off and go down the hill on Calle 10. That will take you to the Poblado station. Go north (north, and, Niquia, remember) to Parque Berrio. This is your starting point.
Exit the station into the plaza area. There will be a big crowd of people. You're going to need to get used to them, because you'll find lots of people in El Centro. If you find yourself in an area with very few people, you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. Find a clear spot on the steps and sit down.
After a few minutes you'll realize they're just normal people, going about their business. There are girls with Thermos selling tinto (coffee) and there are people talking. Once you recognize it's not a dangerous mob of criminals, it's time to take a walk.
Walk down the steps and head north. You'll see a pink Flamingo store to the right. Ahead, to the left is the Palace of Culture. You can't miss it. It's built from alternating dark and light gray blocks. Turn left, cross under the Metro and walk west. The palace will be on your right, a line of shops on the left. You are entering the south end of Plaza Botero.
Walk around Plaza Botero. Admire the statues. Admire the women. Look for some landmarks. The first one is an old, white church, Iglesia Veracruz. It's at the southwest corner of Plaza Botero. The other landmark is the Museum of Antioquia which is western border or the plaza, along the northern half.
Before you venture further it's time for a warning. Your phone should be kept in your front pants pocket. Your money should be in the other front pants pocket. Do not let anyone grab ahold of you, put their arms around you or get too close. Some of the working girls, especially the trannies, can be aggressive. If someone reaches for you, block them with your hand and say "no. " Usually that's enough.
Now comes the scary part (for some people). Alongside the church is a walking street. Head west alongside the church. Stay to the middle or the left. The trannies usually lineup against the side of the church. At the corner you'll see several working girls. To the left (south) is a casino. Just past the casino there may be some girls sitting in a stairway. You won't find much else in that direction.
Head north. Both sides of the street are lined with working girls. Some might call to you, some will click their tongues at you. Continue north until you come to a big opening on the right. This will take you back to Plaza Botero.
If you're not ready to run back to the Mansion, start expanding your walk. There's plenty to see.

Trip Report.
September 8th 2019.
I was sitting in parque Botero early as I usually do, checking out the lineup and learning new things about Centro. On the first Saturday of the month, they hold something like a flea market at Parque Botero. So I really did not like Saturday that much as the park is overcrowded. On Sunday, as I was saying, I was at Parque Botero early and I was watching the lineup and after speaking to a few regulars a new Vennies shows up and she's impaired and crying and cursing and looking over at me. I quickly moved and walked around Vera Cruz and returned. Once I realized that today would be kind of slow, I decided early that I would return to my room.

Trip Report for September 10,2019.
The girls were out in masses in Parque Botero yesterday between 11 am and 1 pm and then again between 4 pm and 5:30 pm. The more time I spend in Centro, I look back over my life and realize how poverty sets individuals up for violence, impatience, and desperation. With that being said, many of the Venezuelans are violent, impatient, and in desperation. Centro is becoming Santa Fe all over again. I sit in the park from 5:30 am to 8 pm sometimes and I watch girls come and go, and rarely do I see any of them with consistent dates. Many of the Venezuelans are gathering for socialization and to communicate with one another, many become angry if one Venezuelan is receiving lots of dates and the others are not. I really would suggest that you take time to sit down and just observe the girl that you may think of taking, unless you can wham bam thank you mam in like 10 minutes and some mongers can, that's just my observation.
Desperation and lack of food and necessities will make an individual become irritable and impatient. Nounce and I have seen this first hand, with the number of fights, the amount of yelling, the amount of infants and children in the park, it just reminds me of how life was in the south in the late 70's after arriving from Puerto Rico to the US. Many of the darker complexion Venezuelans wears their emotions on their face and they rarely smile. These are the ones I avoid. * Pacsafe Vibe 150 2.2 liters shoulder / fanny pack. Can be worn cross body.

You could even lock it down to a stationary object like a table or beach chair or whatever (I even keep two little TSA locks in it for this reason. But I only really used it once in this way in San Andres).
* Condoms I purchased in the US.
* Small container of lube / individual single use lube packs.
* Baby Wibes / Personal Wipes.
- I bought a few 'travel size' packs for maybe $1 usd and they were perfect. About 20 wipes in each, and I haven't gone through the first pack (only did 3 casa runs this last trip). Says 'kills 99.99% of germs'! Jajaja. Its been my experience the chica sometimes wants to clean you off if you don't shower. And depending on the situation and my appetite, I might give her a little wipe on her coochie too.

- I bought a set on Amazon, but for the casa, only pack the hand towel measuring 22 inches x 14 inches. I was actually able to shower and use it to sufficiently dry off my entire body (I didn't wash hair). I'm happy with it, maybe not for everyone. Post session it was a little damp to put back in bag, but it really does dry quickly. I suppose I could bring along a Ziploc bag if I wanted to protect other items from dampness, but I was typically headed right back to the apartment anyway.
* Leftover body wash from whatever hotel.
* Viagra stash as needed.
* Lighter and post session smoke if I feel like it.
* Little Bluetooth speaker.

I ran in to a higher than normal facebook flake rate my last two trips to MDE. (just came back 7 Sept).
As such, I kept this pack safe shoulder / cross body / fanny pack stocked and ready. If your in Poblado or Laureles you will see Colombian in shorts. But in El Centro very rarely.
Sunday's are an exception and you will see more people wearing shorts all over town, but again hardly in El Centro.
In regards to man bags and fanny packs, I haven't ever seen Colombians with these. However, backpacks are worn by just about everyone.
So a dead ringer that you are foreigner in El Centro is if you have a bottle of water in your hand. Seems odd perhaps, but the water is potable in Medellin, and the locals are not going to pay 2,000 Pesos for a bottle of water. The alternative are the plastic bags of water, 500 Pesos and that's what keep's me hydrated when I am there.
The next item that will give you away in El Centro besides jewelry etc, is if you are wearing sunglasses. May seem odd, but the locals in El Centro don't wear them.
So if you have dark hair, a darker complexion, not blue eyes, wear old jeans and a T-shirt and a backpack you will not stick out like a sore thumb in El Centro and may be able to pass as a Colombian.

1) I have IPhone & IPad Pro with service through ATT. Text messages to my phone forward to my IPad which is convenient. It is my understanding that these devices will not work with the cellular network in Medellín? A gentleman on this forum suggested I buy a Samsung J3 prime here before departure but I'm having trouble finding one that is truly unlocked & new. I also understand that WhatsApp will be my primary means of communication. I have it on my IPhone but assume that number won't work when I get to Medellín?
Q: can I buy a phone in Medellín from the service provider at a reasonable price? Will the IPhone and IPad work with local wi-fi?
2) I am attending Toucan Spanish Language school near Parque El Poblado for 6 weeks. Any recommendations for Lodging would be most welcome. Looking for 3 star or 4 star level, either hotel or Apartment.
3) I opened an account on SA, mostly looking for bi-lingual GF for my stay. I'm an older guy and not a party animal, preferring genuine passion and talent over youth and smoking hot. 3) I opened an account on SA, mostly looking for bi-lingual GF for my stay. I'm an older guy and not a party animal, preferring genuine passion and talent over youth and smoking hot. I typically like and have had good relations with late 20's to early 40's gals. Do you recommend that I also utilize another platform (other than Facebook). I don't trust or care for FB. I would also welcome any bilingual contacts you would be comfortable sharing.

I am coming to Medelln next week for the first time and would welcome advice on the following.
1) I have IPhone & IPad Pro with service through ATT. Text messages to my phone forward to my IPad which is convenient. It is my understanding that these devices will not work with the cellular network in Medelln? You can't leave cash and your passport at home. We need to stay aware of our belongings to prevent them being stolen. Don't be offended, I mention the following only in the interest of helping prevent sad stories. Never leave your valuables unattended when you have company. That means take your pants with your phone and wallet with you when you go to the bathroom. It's a classic moment when unscrupulous girls get into mischief. On the streets, be aware of your surroundings and avoid displaying valuables like cell phones. Duck into a restaurant or bakery if you need to make a call or look something up urgently. This is old news here but so is what kind of phone or SIM card will work in Colombia.
I use the same flagship mobile device everywhere and I usually have cash on me. I never carry around a passport or a copy of one. The key is to to stay woke and don't display. Just a couple weeks ago the police were stopping people in Centro and they politely asked to see my cedula. I showed them a global entry card that looks like a US drivers license. The police thanked me for my time and carried on with their operativo.

Any recommendations on where to watch English Football. UK is 6 hours ahead of Colombia so games will be starting 3 or 4 pm. There is a big game on Sunday at 4 pm. I went to the Irish Bar in Park Lleras last time but it was not open yet. Any ideas people?

The Internet, Hard Rock Cafe, or depending on where you are staying one of the sports networks (Fox, espn, etc.). You should be able to get better information of this type on one of the facebook gringo expatriate in Colombia groups.

Case in point, a friend of mine has a friend who has came down to live in Medellin for six months. I met his friend, and he had a brand new "I" phone from the USA with him. The first thing we told him was to buy a local phone and leave the "I" phone in his apartment because it will get stolen. So what does he do, he takes it on the METRO, and guess what, the phone gets stolen.
Okay, so the guys "I" phone get's stolen, and he's out say $ 1,000, but it's much more than that. I personally have an "I" phone with Verizon International service which stays locked in my safety deposit box here in Colombia. IF my "I" phone were stolen in Colombia guess what? I have no way of getting my phone number of over twenty years back into service here without returning to the USA because according to Verizon, they have no way of reactivating the number. So the value of the phone is one thing, but losing phone service if your going to be away for an extended period of time can be much more of a problem. Think about all the Text messages you get relative to notifications for flights, banking, appointments, confirmations, etc. A perfect example of this are the alerts I get from Bank of America when I attempt to withdraw funds from an ATM. I sent a text message to confirm them, etc.

The phone and service will work. It may be a good idea to buy a Colombia SIM card to create a new Whatsapp account so your Whatsapp will display Colombia number, not the US number. It costs around 3-5 K for the SIM. To use Colombia SIM, you have to make sure your phone is unlocked. Google it to see if you are eligible for unlock. Like others have said, be careful so you don't give someone a chance to steal them.

After hearing some police harassment reports here, I start to feel El Poblado is like Tijuana.Poblado is not like Tijuana. Not even close. I have never had a bad experience with the Police in Medellin, in fact they have always been very helpful, and not to be feared like in Tijuana.
The difference being that the cops in Tijuana are corrupt and used to hassling gringos and extorting money from them. There are very few instances of the Police hassling gringos, and typically they are centered around Parque Lleras.
I do remember one posters experience here in Medellin about paying the Police 200 K Pesos, but they caught him carrying drugs. Something not to smart for a foreigner to do here. In Tijuana if you get caught with drugs, you will be spending several hours in jail along with paying out lots of money to walk.

Hows the overall quality in Parque Botero now? Are there many solid 8's running around? I kinda have this feeling like it will be a bunch of fuglies and such but I hope I am really wrong. Luckily there's strip clubs in the center anyway and sounds like a good time. I will finally be checking it out first hand after new years to see what's all the fuss.
