I read somewhere that time spent in Medellin (Colombia) during the quarantine WILL NOT count towards your 90-day permitted stay. If this is the case, I am genuinely considering using my full 90 days, of which, I THINK MAYBE KIND OF SORT OF that I will have 79 remaining days, whenever the quarantine is over.

If I remember correctly, from the first day of quarantine, they started automatically extending visas. So, let's say it lasts for 75 days. At that point, you probably have 79 days remaining. However, I'd suggest contacting Migración to confirm. Because, if the extension is only for people whose visa would have expired under the lockdown, if you stay past 90 days there will be penalties. If you stay too long past the 90 they have been known to ban people from the country for several years.

One of the biggest lessons I had to learn in life was, to stop trying to fit in where I did not belong. Probably one of the reasons that I am much more well off than many of whom I grew up around. The health emergency was extended until August 31. The health emergency gives the President power to enact decrees as he has been doing since March 24. The health emergency currently includes the quarantine that was extended until May 31 last night. It also includes the border closing and no international flights. No other specific dates were announced but the usual rumor mill of noisy radio stations and web sites has been freely publishing interpretations since last night. A reliable news source it El Colombiano where you will not find the as yet incorrect statement that there will be no flights before August 31. That may yet come true but it is not confirmed.

The Spirit fares have been US $400 one way Medellin to Ft. Lauderdale. It's pretty steep but they have no competition.

Definitely.I had to make a very rough decision in March of this year as I was in Medellin and flew back to the USA on the 15th and had a return flight to Medellin on the 19th which I elected not to take and am now basically locked out of Colombia like everyone else. While I was in Bogota on the 15th of March they announced that only Citizens and residents would be allowed in the Country and on the 19th of March the day of my return they announced the Country was shutting down entirely effective I believe the 21st of March and now the date has been extended until September 1.
Nobody really knows what will happen, maybe they open up a little early but it sounds highly unlikely. And as far as the requirements for entry starting on that date for all the guys that want to come back, well there could be a 14 day quarantine requirement which is a tourism killer for sure or certain Countries won't be allowed in possibly including the USA. Colombia is very fragile and won't be able to handle severe outbreaks and / or have the capacity to do the testing and tracing like other Countries so they are going to be very conservative like others in who they let back in.
So in your case you need to weigh if you leave in the next few months that you may not be able to come back for a long time. I apologize for my post in that it depresses you, I was just stating what I see as some of the possibilities that may happen besides of course getting stuck there with your buddy Slapshot!

But alas, I'm not in charge.I agree with your sentiments, and the President is working with the tourism industry to get ready for a re-opening to tourism, such as having bio-security protocols in place as reported in an article posted on the Colombian GOV. CO website, so the Colombian government is fully aware of getting tourism back on line.
However what isn't clear is what the requirements will be for foreigners to return, and I, like you, have posted previously about testing prior to boarding with no quarantine requirement, but very few Countries are doing this with the exception of some of the European Countries. A lot of other Countries are currently requiring testing and being quarantined, and with a two week quarantine then basically you can forget tourism. So if Colombia moves forward as your suggesting with just a testing requirement, there will be a lot of mongers on those planes, myself included!
Additionally with Colombia being closed at least now until September 1, a lot will be learned in the next few months, especially with tourism returning to Europe like in Italy and Greece along with others. If it goes well there, then that will be good. If it turns out to be a disaster, well the opening of Colombia could get pushed back again, albeit they are preparing for a re-opening.
The way Colombia thus far has responded to the Pandemic is by doing to a certain degree what other Countries have successfully done within their means, and have been much more aggressive and strict than what's been done in the USA to their credit.

Yes, Colombia could ban United States visitors. One reason I doubt this may not have much exposure up north. Duque is actively conducting a proxy war against Venezuela under direction from the United States. Another is the financial factor. Avianca is the well known casualty of the border closure. Viva, Easyfly, and other local airlines are less known but much more vulnerable to financial ruin because unlike Avianca they don't have majority foreign partners with deep pockets. Duque is under massive pressure to allow these businesses to operate or prop them up financially. He's already written more checks to the citizenry than he can cash (just yesterday it was announced that the seasonal bonus payment may be delayed) so his only response option to the transportation sector complaints is to let them operate. Another reason I think it's unlikely and I know it's impractical is the complexity of preventing someone traveling on a US passport arriving on a flight that does not originate in the US (e. G. Panama, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe etc. Etc.). Yet another reason is a no fly list would reasonably include China, most of Europe, Brazil, Mexico among others.
What I see as somewhat more practical if not likely is a quarantine requirement. Colombians who are arriving on repatriation flights currently have to stay in Bogota under a 14 day monitored quarantine. Guys like us would be willing to go through it but business travelers wouldn't do it.

I expect when they do open up to international travel it will be with testing plus quarantine. That seems to be the trend in other places in the world. Once winter starts up here I will be happy to be in quarantine somewhere warmer. And look forward to the time when quarantine ends.
And I'm not sure the behaviors were that different in those cities. Perhaps, I'm not there to judge. But this virus can get a jump start in some places by something as simple as a church potluck. And all of a sudden hundreds or thousands are infected. Basically what happened in S Korea. 5000 infections from one church function (they have some large mega-churches there so 10,000 people at a church function does happen).
I doubt they will ever try to do restrictions by US state. People still move around in the US, so where the flight originates will tell them nothing about the risk from those passengers. Or very little at best.

I looked into Brazil but it is even more of a no go than Argentina or Colombia.

Colombia's decision is a blow to its largest carrier, Avianca Holdings, which this month filed for bankruptcy in a US court. Avianca said in a statement the government had not yet notified it about the new ban.

Nobody really knows what will happen, maybe they open up a little early but it sounds highly unlikely. You won't find anything like German FKKs in Colombia. The action is going to be more like what you will find in Madrid or Barcelona. Fortunately, for the restaurant, there's a waiter who will ask if you need dessert, if you need more drinks, if you need anything else. Until you pay and leave.
Colombian service is simple. If you want something, ask for it. If you don't want something, enjoy yourself. I've sat with a group of Colombians in a restaurant 30 minutes after closing, with the entire staff waiting patiently and quietly to close and leave. Try that at Applebee's. All you need to do to get perfect service in Colombia is learn how to raise your hand slightly and make eye contact.
As for the food, I'd rather spend $3 for a complete lunch including real fruit juice than $13 on a burger and fries.

I was under the clearly mistaken impression that there was only the Zona because that was all anyone talked about in the Bogota thread. OMFG.The Zona may be the best value in the world right now. To be able to bang a 9 or 10 for peanuts like $20 for an hour or $100 for a night (and some would say even that is overpaying) is unlike any experience I have seen.
But Steve, do not think that if you go outside the Zona you will get better value from a looks and performance perspective because you won't.
Looks and performance wise, if I am being honest, I would put the Brazilians ahead of the Colombians but the Brazilians are not as loyal. The Venezuelans beat the Colombians as well but they are transactional and IMO less trust worthy.
What is special about the Colombian experience, and it is not all the women but a lot of them, is their upbeat attitude and genuine desire to please.

You can find tall and skinny, but not easy. I've seen a few. Much easier to find short and skinny (spinner). I have to disagree with the food and service. I have had my share of bad meals and bad service all over the world, including Medellin and Bogota. But there are some VERY good restaurants in Medellin. Sometimes service is bad, but sometimes it's a cultural difference. You won't be handed the check the minute you finish your meal. That's not how it works in Colombian culture.
If you only care about chicas, Bogota has some great options. And if you also care about seeing something, then Bogota it worth one trip. You can go to the Salt Cathedral or Monserrati. Enjoy some good meals. Enjoy some good clubs. My ex-wife is from Bogota, so spent a good amount of time there. Too cold, too polluted, and too much traffic for me.
I like Medellin for the weather and the people. Yes, there can be pollution. Yes, there can be traffic. But it's a much more pleasant place to be, at least for me.
If you are into tall and skinny girls, MDE is not the place. Not to mention real bad food and even worse service. Nothing like the other places you have hang out. If you are in Bogota, and cheap flights are available check it out, but I real think you will be disappointed.

How do robberies in Parque Botero occur? Easy, especially if you spend a lot of time in Medellin and frequent the parque. First off let me be the first to say that the robberies have caused the overall girls in the parque to suffer. The parque has a ring leader that many of the girls are afraid of and they answer to her. If you like repeat girls, this is where the one time hit her and quit her benefits. Wondering what people's opinions are as to whether flights will actually resume before the end of the Emergencia Sanitario. I saw the humanitarian repatriation flights during June but didn't book any of them in time. I see starting July 5 Spirit has regularly scheduled flights as well as JetBlue and Interjet. I am assuming they are tentatively scheduled and that the airlines are happy to take anyone's money who is happy to pay and then just hold it as credit towards future travel in the likely event that they need to reschedule. The emergency measures seem to pretty clearly state there will be no national or international flights before August at the earliest and no travel between municipalities. Anyone heard anything regarding any of this changing before August, or have any info on how to arrange to travel Inter-city during the emergency measures. I was on a motorcycle tour and have been staying on a finca since the quarantine started, but would really prefer to return to Mde if at all possible.

I hope they survive the quarantine. This thread is about the Medellin restaurant scene and Colombian food. Moving on from Colombian food, the restaurant scene was very good and improving pre-coronavirus. Provenza, Milan, Envigado and even Buenos Aires are where you can find interesting and well prepared meals. The typical overcooked meat with heavily seasoned starchy sides can be found everywhere. The fruit juice is the best of most of the executive lunches, if you remember to order it with no added sugar.

I don't have an opinion. I will share these facts. The Minister of Transportation and the President confirmed there will be no flights until at least September 1. By act of Congress, airlines that operate in the United States are required to provide full refunds in the event they cancel flights because of Coronavirus travel restrictions.

You're right -- most people, both Colombians and extranjeros, prefer Peruvian, Italian, Mexican, etc over actual Colombian food. Although every once in a while a good Bandeja Paisa really hits the spot.

Airlines are getting worst, and it will probably get even worse. Check out the prices, they have raised them dramatically, this sucks. I am changing my game and just going to drive to Monterrey now and screw them. I will only fly to Tijuana occasionally and maybe Russia over the Holidays depending on the fared, it will be a new world.

It is odd. The announcement about 8/31 is out. Copa then cancelled my August trip, but JetBlue has not cancelled my early July trip yet. I'm just waiting. Either way I'll get a credit which I will use to schedule a flight somewhere else or to Medellin later. Not quite sure I have a great explanation for the two different strategies.

I have continued to have much fun in Medellin since I arrived. I have the 2 sisters that are just plain outstanding, I now have a stud lesbian, and her really cute girlfriend. It is odd. The announcement about 8/31 is out. Copa then cancelled my August trip, but JetBlue has not cancelled my early July trip yet. I'm just waiting. Either way I'll get a credit which I will use to schedule a flight somewhere else or to Medellin later. Not quite sure I have a great explanation for the two different strategies.Regardless of the airlines strategies, I'm not even contemplating buying a ticket to Medellin until I know exactly what the entry requirements are going to be to get back in. I was grinding all day to find some one for last night. While in Exito Wow, I was scrolling through my WhatsApp conversations from a year ago. Slapshot man you broke my heart. I was really enjoying this post and then you had to ruin it with my pet peeve. I'm a firm believer that it's none of my beeswax who pays what. On a purely practical level I don't believe it affects what anyone else has to pay. My pet peeve is when guys know they either paid more than they had to pay and / or got less than they expected for what they paid, then rationalize with "this would have cost so much more in London / Paris / L. A. / New York."

I use the same approach as Mr. E. Know what you are willing to pay and ask to see what she says. What she asks will tell you a lot about her. And even more when you learn whether she's willing to accept your price. If they give me something crazy, I remind them that I'm not a stupid gringo and have been visiting Colombia for 15 years. The problem is that most guys do not want to negotiate for whatever reason. I will never understand this. They accept the first price that a chick gives as firm. Based on what I see as of today I think it's highly likely most if not all Centro casas will be open by June 1. Two of them already are, and one of them isn't even bothering with the by appointment only thing. This will be in addition to all the Laureles and Floresta apartments that never shut down. First off, let me say, I was not robbed, or close to being robbed, but I found out that I was being baited to be robbed. Another BM was in Medellin with me in January and I left him there and I wanted to keep an eye on him and help him while he was in Medellin, especially in the park. Since all of you older guys and guy who can not be robbed think that you can not be robbed, I was just informing other BMs of how the robberies occur.
Many times the other BM would send me pics of the girls from the park while I was in the USA and I would tell him, yes or no if the girl is safe to go with or not. I spend countless hours in the park, therefor I know most of the girls in the park. It was only recognized by myself when it was brought to my attention that one day while I was in the park, this certain girl was extremely mad that other girls would not allow her to rob me, while I was extremely drunk.
I did some research on the girl and that's when the light bulb immediately went off, I remembered watching this girl and her sister stab another Vennie in the park and I actually paid for the surgery because Doctors were going to let her die due to the fact she was a Vennie and had no money. My ears stood up on my head when I realized who she was because I had been extremely friendly with girls from the park. I had let my guard down for nearly a year, because I was in the park to Bang girls, not expecting to be robbed by girls who I thought I was helping. Lesson learned, either bang them one time and never again or be extremely selective about who you date from the park.
After I did my own investigation, cause I'm a street dude and I wanted to know what was this girl's issue with me and why did she want to rob me, I quickly found out some very disturbing information. I found her on facebook and I quickly noticed that she had over 300 photos with girls from the park. First off, she is not that good looking, but what I do know for a fact is that this chic is dangerous and can use a knife, I saw this first hand with my own eyes. So you better know that I have become extremely aware of my surroundings while anywhere in Medellin from this point on into the future.
Being a street dude, I know for a fact, 300 girls didn't want to take pics with this chic, they did it because they were afraid of her. Personally, I have never seen the girl get a date in the 2 years that I have been traveling to Medellin but everyday she arrives at the park around 3 pm and all of the Vennies take notice and give her space and respect.
Back to how do I know what she was doing as far as setting up the robberies? My friend who was in Medellin back in January, would send me pics of girls and I would be amazed, because every day he would show me girls from the park who would never speak to me, but they were extremely friendly with him. Take this in with a bit of intuition, me and this monger look alike, and I mean extremely alike to the point that I told many people in the park that we were First cousins, because not only did we look alike, he spoke Spanish very well and that threw many in the parque off and it made it easy for him to fit in.
Shortly after I left, and girl after girl would ask him for dates, a gang of Vennie guys attempted to rob him on more than 3 occasions. Can you explain this? They have never attempted to rob me, other than take advantage of me while I was drunk, but they actually drew knives out at this BM and tried to take his cell phone on several occasions. This is why I provided the information about how the robberies occur.
These girls are not dumb, they are well organized and the entire group in the park are under the tutelage of this one girl. So in the future if you decide to date girls from the park, never lose sight of the fact that many of these girls see gringos as get rich quick client. I use the same approach as Mr. E. Know what you are willing to pay and ask to see what she says. What she asks will tell you a lot about her. First off, let me say, I was not robbed, or close to being robbed, but I found out that I was being baited to be robbed. Another BM was in Medellin with me in January and I left him there and I wanted to keep an eye on him and help him while he was in Medellin, especially in the park. There was a post about an increase in robberies in Parque Botero which makes sense given the Pandemic, and supposedly there is a "ringleader" of girls orchestrating this with other girls.
