Hello all,
I've been reading the forum for some time and after going through numerous pages trying to hunt for answers, I figure it'll be easier to try and find them all here in one post.
I am considering a trip to Medellin sometime as soon as May or June. This will be a solo trip as well as my first time to Colombia. Now to the questions.
1. I am considering staying all 10 nights in the Parque Lleras area. I will get an Airbnb in the area which I'll be sure to make sure is guest / girl friendly. Is this area suitable for a 10 night stay? Or should I break it up and stay half the time here, and half elsewhere. If so, what is another good relatively safe area to stay?
2. as far as money goes. Should I bring US dollars and exchange for COP somewhere out there? Or is it best to just withdraw money out there from a bank, ATM, etc.
3. I am having a bit trouble understanding the Colombian currency. I have a COP converter app on my phone. But for instance I see some guys on here mention both "k" and "mil" , and for example I see somebody mentioned they paid a girl "80 mil" , what does this equate to in US dollars? I can understand the K conversion. But I would assume somebody is not paying 80 million cop pesos, right? Also I'm assuming it's best to pay the girls in cop pesos out there, rather than in US dollars?.In Spanish "mil" is thousand.
So 80 mil is 80 k. 80,000 Colombian pesos (about $22).
FYI Million in Spanish is milland.

Very flaky chica, does not respond on whatsapp. Offered her 500 mil to spend a few hours on my last day in town, she did not show up. The problem with this casa is the location. Multiple chicas have warned me not to hang out in the area and generally not visit late in the afternoon. In fact one girl suggested that if they see someone regularly visiting, it won't be long before that person becomes a target.
My go to casa on this trip has been Dulce Compania, very friendly chicas, all BBBJ with little upsell. The girls have good camaraderie, I did pull two for a trio a couple of times. There is always Salome who is really good. You would not be disappointed*with most of the girls here. A couple of spinners but mostly thicc chicas in their early twenties.
I missed botanika bistro cafe, it had some wonderful food, do not know why it closed. There are several other restaurants in the area that do have good lunch. Multiple cuisine options, one I liked on this trip is called Sabor express (Peruvian food). ATM cards from US do not work in cajeras here.
I usually do a session and then have lunch at a nearby place and walk around centro before hitting two more casas and calling it a day.
There was a casa called Ammonia Spa, it was on the second floor of opera edificio or something. I didn't really like the rooms, too small but nonetheless 10 to 15 girls to choose from and with only 70 an hour a good bargain. One interesting thing was that there was porn on TV in a few rooms in this one.
Casas in Laureles.
The rostros spa is open but only 4 chicas, Veronica, a thick Vennie has superlative sucking skills, no upsell. There is also one called angels spa on Carrera 81 42-XX. 6-7 chicas, they advertise heavily in mileroticos, skokka etc. As I mentioned in my previous report, Aisha is closed.
There is one on 33 avenida right behind La 70 dorado hotel. This is a converted hotel now used as casa. 5-8 chicas. 90 mil an hour. Did a vennie here, no upselling, nice encounter.

Park Lleras.
The girls are really variable, from 4 to 8. Mostly 6 or 7. Most of them are smokers. They do ask USD, looks like that*place does not deal with Colombian pesos both inside and outside Gustos. There were transgenders in gustos on multiple weekdays. The biggest issue with chicas in this park are the 18 year olds. There are a number of girls trying to pull off the teen look. I picked up an 19 year old on one of the nights but my advice is to be very wary of getting someone from here. Make doubly sure of age and Cedula. You do not want to make a mistake here. Several girls are still in school and I am sure under the legal age.

Be careful with that: I was going to buy it before the last trip, but after reading the reviews didn't. People had to cut it to retrieve their own belongings after the lock failure.Mine came with a key lock but I will now replace it with a better lock just in case, LOL.

3. K and mil are the same. It means "thousand. " So 20 mil is 20,000. Some guys and girls simply say 20. For miliones, just add three more zeros. And COP is "Colombian pesos. ".And always, always, always ask / say. 20 mil (50 mil, 150 mil, 200 mil whatever the fee is) COP!? I have heard & never want to get into this situation of them changing the 150 k COP to $150 USD after the session.

Quite a bit of talk here about ATM's so I'd like to offer my advice, especially for first timers. Overall using ATM's in Medellin at least was a bit of a nightmare. When you first arrive at the airport this is your best opportunity to load up on as much cash as possible. As you exit arrivals go up the stairs and use the cash machines there and just as you exit the terminal back downstairs there are some just to the left.
There are some machines in the airport which I can't remember the name of which as far as I can remember were giving up to 600,000 - 900,000 free. I would recommend using a number of different cards for withdrawls, prepaid cards work well for this.
Back in Medellin I never saw these machines again. The only free one that worked in Medellin was BBVA but the limit was 300,000 which is nothing especially if you have a card that charges after a certain amount of uses which mine will start to do next month. BBVA was very hit and miss, sometimes the atms worked and sometimes they did not, one night I had a taxi driver drive me around a few BBVA machines trying to find a working one. I know it was not just my card as others would leave the ATM shaking their head and telling me its not working.
Some atms just flat out did not work with my cards, bancocolombia was one and I think Bogota bank. The other guys I was with experienced similar issues. I never had these issues with atms around the world before.
The whole thing was a bit annoying as I would get worried if I was going to run out of cash especially if I needed some for the day ahead. At one point I got fed up dealing with atms and just decided to withdraw a large amount, over 1 million as far as I can remember from daviendenda and pay the fee which was around $30-$40 USD but it would not work when I declined their exchange rate and even when I accepted it, so I was stuck with BBVM and one other which worked with a fee directly across from BBVM on 70 a block from mondongos.
So as I said, get as much as possible at the airport spread over a number of cards. If anybody knows exactly where the free machines are in Medellin, the same as at the airport please share as I will be there next month for an extended period.

How any ATM performs has as much to do with the card someone is using as it does with the ATM. In other words, the banks that issue ATM debit cards have policies for daily withdrawal limits, which ATMs will accept it, and other features, sometimes including adjustments to the rate of exchange. All the same, ATMs are the least risky way to obtain local currency because you don't need to have cash on hand that you could lose. The airport ATMs are plentiful and well maintained so in that sense they are a good option. Airport ATMs are however known the world over by ne-er do wells as the place to scope out potential robbery victims. Why, because the users are often fatigued, disoriented because they are mostly from out of town (local residents don't often use airport ATMs except for small convenience transactions.) As always, and especially if you are going to make a large cash withdrawal, you must be vigilant about your surroundings and who may be watching. Another advantage of ATMs is for the relatively small cost of 6,000 to 10,000 pesos per transaction you can withdraw only as much cash as you may need for a day or two.

There is a 6% to 8% markup by most banks ATMs. The trick is to decline the conversion rate, we need to carefully figure out what screen is asking that question since its not straight forward.
A number of ATM just do the mark up without giving the customer a choice to decline this conversion. I only figured it out on the last couple of days I was in Medellin.
...Because there sure are a lot of young, beautiful women ... I'm pretty sure they got all those kids by fucking me who they knew couldn't do anything for them.....You forgot to say that they were international models and famous actresses.

I don't agree with withdrawing a bunch of money at the airport, just on the general principal that leaving the airport with a lot of money might not be the best for your health. Withdraw it at safe locations (ie inside bank buildings, in malls, . Be aware of your surroundings) and in reasonable amounts that you would not mind giving up if someone pulls a gun on you.

It isn't set by your respective bank, it is set by Visa and you can look it up online. Just search for "Visa Exchange Rate".
Put in any amount you want and put in a 0% bank fee. Then the US dollar withdrawal currency and COP currency received. You will see what the rate is for that day. Bank fees on either or both ends are a different.
Matter, you'll factor those in on your own.
As to Cajeros (ATMs) here: BBVA is fee free, so is Colpatria, Banco Pichincha, Davienda. Banks that I know charge a fee are: Bancolombia, Servibanca, Banco Bogota.
Of course, with a Charles Schwab card bank fees from the Colombian bank are refunded and they don't charge a fee on their end. Which is why the smart travelers use an account with them when they travel.

Friday:
Went to Centro in the afternoon. Another failure. Although, I didn't have a ton of time. I saw Slender Man getting more attention than a zombie on a unicycle juggling flaming torches in the middle of San Juan. There was a scuffle and a chase right when I rounded the corner behind the church. I saw the girl I always consider going with. She is on the west side of Avenida Cundinamarca, south of Calle 52, one spot in from the corner, where the stairway is. She has a sexy look but a bit too much like a druggy, some shitty tattoos, and one time I was close enough to notice unshaved legs. I can't do it. Whisker-free living continues.

On Jan 23, I saved $13 on a 900,000 peso ($259) ATM withdrawal by declining the 3,310 conversion rate. The better, wholesale rate of 3,477 I received (after reviewing my statement back in the US) represented a 5% improvement (or $13) over the rate I declined. On Jan 26, I saved $10 on a 1,000,000 peso ($284) ATM withdrawal by declining the 3,403 conversion rate. The better, wholesale rate of 3,525 I received represented a 3.6% improvement (or $10) over the rate I declined. I posted an explanation about the exchange rate that you get when you take money out. It isn't set by your respective bank, it is set by Visa and you can look it up online. Just search for "Visa Exchange Rate".
Put in any amount you want and put in a 0% bank fee. Then the US dollar withdrawal currency and COP currency received. You will see what the rate is for that day. Bank fees on either or both ends are a different.
Matter, you'll factor those in on your own.
As to Cajeros (ATMs) here: BBVA is fee free, so is Colpatria, Banco Pichincha, Davienda. Banks that I know charge a fee are: Bancolombia, Servibanca, Banco Bogota.
Of course, with a Charles Schwab card bank fees from the Colombian bank are refunded and they don't charge a fee on their end. So if I had very low limit allowances with my banks in the USA, they would actually control how much I could withdraw if it was below the allowable limits allowed by the Colombian banks.
Sounds like in your case it's a combination, and perhaps your Navy account has set limits for foreign exchanges not based on your credit worthiness.
Long story short, in my experience, Scotia has had the best exchange rates ignoring fees charged on the other end. Just my two pesos!

Withdraw it at safe locations (ie inside bank buildings, in malls, . It is the Biden administration which has placed Covid test restrictions to enter the country. I believe by end of April there maybe a change.

Just go to the Veracruz Church and hang around this area for a while, yesterday I saw some nice ones out, especially by Hotel Zona Rosa, a tall beautiful Vennie. Regardless, plan on spending at least a few hours there and the best time to be there is late afternoon. And as far as a Hotel, when you find a beautiful street Urchin, just take her to Premuim Plaza, so it should be easy now for you. You speak Spanish, you know where to hang, and where to get your El Centro cherry popped! Good luck.
My schedule involved the first shot at 10 either laureles casas or FB.
The second encounter was around 1 and mostly involved the centro casa visit.

I went to a walk-in clinic named Cendiatra (https://cendiatra.com/) in Laureles at Cra 80 #44B-91. They do an antigen swab test for 50 mil with results within an hour. You can either wait for the result or they will email it to you.

He advised that she could apply for a visa, and while waiting for approval, obtain a temporary cedula from Migration which would be acceptable for entering the premises. However, Catch 22, I imagine, since I surmise that she would need a valid passport to apply for a visa. Danger Zone.
Cops have not been around so much this past week or so and it shows. I do not have the specifics. Everything was after 6:00 PM (dark) and in the Botero Park area.
1) The guy I spoke of before that was videoing a fight and the locals started going after him as in threatening him and closing in around him. Well about 2 weeks later they robbed him of his phone and some money. He did not learn his lesson.

Also, others have reported that lots of places are requiring the Venezuelans have copies of their Passports to get into places but these are overnight Hotels. Next time ask the girls before you go with them whether they have a Cedula for the Colombians, or a Passport for the Venezuelans before you go with them. And if they don't, and they appear to be older and of legal age, ask them where to go, but I personally will not go to any of the short time hotels without hot water, towels, and are clean. Well I'm not sure what prompted you to write your report, but am assuming it is to warn others of the dangers of El Centro. For all the guys that got jacked up and robbed you mentioned, well they totally deserved it for being such morons.
Dangers abound everywhere in El Centro in the daytime, but much more so in the evening. It amazes me that guys would come into the Raudal area and have the DJ's play tunes for them. Colombia is not the DR where that could happen with no consequence. Again, total fucking idiots as you have pointed out, and they deserve what they had coming.

About a week ago I checked into the PP and they checked my ID which I carry a photocopy of, and my Chicas ID. When I went there earlier this week that didn't ask for any ID's at all. I have heard of other guys having problems as well, and prior to the Pandemic, one time they gave me a hard time. I have a Colombian Cedula, and presented both a photocopy of my Cedula, and my USA Passport, and the gal at the front desk apparently was new and was in disbelief that a foreigner could have a Cedula and she took a photocopy of it and sent it to her boss who immediately confirmed I was good to go, and of course they didn't ask the Chica I was with for anything.
So the answer to your question is, it will depend on who's working the front desk.
Additionally, your better off to carry a color copy of your Passport along with a photocopy of the date of entry into the Country. With this you should not be denied entry anywhere at a short time Hotel, and the PP is one of the few that does checks ID's. Also, others have reported that lots of places are requiring the Venezuelans have copies of their Passports to get into places but these are overnight Hotels. Next time ask the girls before you go with them whether they have a Cedula for the Colombians, or a Passport for the Venezuelans before you go with them. And if they don't, and they appear to be older and of legal age, ask them where to go, but I personally will not go to any of the short time hotels without hot water, towels, and are clean. I may have low standards, but am not going to use the use the 5 and 6 K scabie / bed bug infested rooms unless it's for a blowjob with only my dick sticking out of my pants, but I haven't done that in a while.

I'm not saying to stray beyond the well-populated areas, or that it doesn't hold risk. I'm 6', 300 lbs and have long gray / white hair. I don't necessarily blend in well. I'm also not saying to bring moonshine to the native, simply not to be afraid to engage the regulars on the stroll. If you're out mongering, you're going to draw attention anyway. Colombians are incredibly friendly and respond robustly and sincerely if you try to engage them- even folks around El Centro. If you're sitting at one of the bars, buy the guy next to you a shot and toast with him. Definitely don't play the big man, but they know you have cash in your pocket and if you're conservative but a decent guy, it goes a long way. I'm just saying that Medellin isn't nearly as dangerous as its made out to be- it's not Pablo and Narcos. Its the city center in a major city of 2 million people. They're dangerous at night. That being said, The cops stay out in El Centro to at least midnight, its well lit, and there is a vibrant community that lives there. One of the best conversations I've ever had in a foreign country was a theological argument with a street guy late one night on Botero Plaza. 30 K is the "general" asking price, at least that's where it starts, and everything is negotiable. And there are girls asking for 20 K, but they are the older, fatter, and the less desirable ones.
Things are basically no different right now than before the Pandemic except people wearing masks. I was in Medellin in March of last year, came back in November for a week, and am now back, and from my observations of prior to the Pandemic and now, things do appear to be booming, however I do not like all the Vennies in El Centro. They outnumber the Colombians working El Centro now, and I find them a bit arrogant, especially the younger ones, and there is no shortage of them, and all of their lazy ass boyfriends hang around thinking their shit doesn't stink. El Centro is no place for a newbie, period. If you don't have any Spanish and stick out like a fly in a bowl of buttermilk, stick to the Mansion and El Poblado. Mongering in El Centro IS dangerous. You could get knifed or mugged just as easily going upstairs at noon as you could at midnight. The real problem here isn't whether or not you should be in El Centro after dark, it's whether or not you've got the skills to monger there at all. Definitely visit Botero Plaza, the museum, and all that stuff, but newbies should stick to Gringoland for pussy.

It's just like any other stadium neighborhood (the Colombian national football stadium is on the other side of the Metro). It is not whether you can speak spanish or not. I am fluent in spanish and have visited el Centro only a few times. It takes a certain type to enjoy mongering there and I am not one of them. Not saying mongers should avoid it because I know some really enjoy it. But beware it is not for everyone and certainly not a place I would be when it starts getting dark out. There are many mongers who stay in laureles and other areas and spend less than $30 dollars a day for an apartment with AC in a safe area with security. You don't have to stay in Poblado!! Medellin is a large city that offers many different places to be.
You know, I'd take all this a step further. El Centro is no place for a newbie, period. Medellin or La Jonquera? I'm trying to decide on my next trip, and the current choices are Medellin and La Jonquera. Has anyone visited both? Pros / cons of each, including the economics- price of girls as well as lodgings and food? It's not totally clear yet on this, it was a court ruling that was made, not s decree by the Colombian Government. And I think the Government would be foolish to drop the testing requirement at this time given what's occurring in Italy and Brazil because of the new variants. The last thing anybody want's is the return to the weekend shutdowns. It's one thing to have late night curfews, but lockdowns during the day or starting early evening is not good.Surfer, remember it was the executive branch that dropped the requirement. Then a judge said it had to be implemented. Now a higher court has ruled the lower court decision was not valid. It seems to me that the decision to have to have testing done is immediately voided.
Practically speaking though, I am headed to Colombia soon and will see. I did pay for a PCR test and got one today just to be sure, but I have a feeling it was not necessary.

Glad that sanity is back on the thread. El Centro is very dangerous during daytime, as well as night time. I am not sure if the area is safer during day. The robbers are paying a cut to the police and local gang, so they are protected. They are well-organized, operate based on division of labor (ie. Marking, diversion, assault, etc) and just implement variety of "standard operating procedures" depending upon the situation, location and target.
In December last year, 4 gringos I knew were attacked with knives during day. Two of them always acted like a "big shot," or tough guy. Also there were a group of newbie gringos at the Veracruz area. In spite of advices from some people, they hang around on the middle of street, drunk beer (locals don't do this), talked / laughed loud to the street people and hookers, some of who looked very young. Everybody was watching them. Again, they acted like a big shot, and eventually two of them had a physical fight with a local punk. Next day, a real organization guy showed up and extorted compensation money (about 300 k peso per person) from the gringos. The gringos paid and left the area in a few days.
There is no any good deal at El Centro- I saw it in 20 years. There are only schemes, tricks, and violence. There is no reason why gringos should come to the area. Girls and other funs are available at other areas for similar prices.

There are many plainclothes national police and officers from the adolescent, family and child welfare brigade in addition to the many uniformed police. The area is also blanketed by closed circuit television cameras.
Parque Botero has the highest concentration of cops I have seen anywhere in Colombia. And they are in groups. Ordinary Colombians love to go there to get pictures by the fat statues. Actually there have been government subsidies and special payments, albeit not on the level of what's been paid in North America and Europe. The reason it is not much of a crime deterrent in Centro is many of the denizens are not eligible because of nationality or because they have been off the grid size birth. A practical tip I can offer is try to avoid having passersby at your back. You will notice girls and their hangers on tend to keep their backs against walls, trees, or the sculptures. It helps prevent you being surrounded and caught unawares. Situational awareness is your friend in Centro.

I went to La Jonquera in 2018 but I didn't plan a trip to La Jorquera per se, I was already going to be in Barcelona for vacation and made a side trip to La Jonquera (train from Barcelona to Figueres-Vilafant 1 1/2 hours, then a taxi. There is a que right outside the station, about thirty minutes to Club Paradise), which even ended up regretting because for me that town just seems like a huge truck stop. . I spent 70 euro ST on an exceptional looking Romanian and she would not do BBBJ and that alone was a downer.
I went there because I had heard about Club Paradise having like 100 girls working there and it being one of the biggest working girl houses in the world, so I was curious and it seemed like a worthy side trip at the time. If you take the metro to the Ayura station, get off and go west. It's a few blocks walk to get to the area where the girls are. It's only 2 blocks long and only on the south side. Yet, I am not going to delude myself that walking around Centro at night is putting myself at great risk of getting robbed or hurt. So, at this point of my life--I will pass. If you wish to take the risk, have at it. But to newbies that do not know-- avoid this area at night.
Will you get robbed or beaten? It is statistically probably? Probably not--you will, statistically, probably be fine. But the odds are much greater here at night than in other mongering context, and for very quick, not so GFE sessions (not the rule, but the norm).
I have mongered at one time or another in Gautemala City Zona 1, Comeaguela in Hondruras, parts of Lima that are not so great. I was younger, and not always so wise. All I am saying here is do not minimize the risks.

While you're down there, snap a few pictures in Botero plaza of the statues and the palace of culture. Take a stroll up to Parque Bolivar and grab a seat in the shade. There are some nice restaurants along the Junin walking street, including Hacienda.
Should you be walking around like a bunch of Japanese tourists on the Vegas strip? No. Should you be loud, drunk and obnoxious? No. Should you be flashing cash and wearing bling, like you're shooting a rap video? No. But if you're willing to act like a responsible adult, pay attention to your surroundings and not act the fool, you can enjoy El Centro.

Practically speaking though, I am headed to Colombia soon and will see. I did pay for a PCR test and got one today just to be sure, but I have a feeling it was not necessary.Apparently there's a Colombian law that you cannot force a Colombian to be subject to being tested, nor foreigners as well which the case was about.
Regardless of whatever the law is, and the interpretation, I think the Colombian Government would be foolish to drop the testing requirement for entry into the Country because of the spread of the new variants. Brazil and poor Italy, it's ugly.
I know there are board members here that won't agree with this, but forget people's political orientation, and if you focus on why we are are here in my case, or others coming here, than the worst thing that can happen is that there is another surge, and based ob ICU capacity, the curfews could start again, and potential lockdowns like before meaning entire weekends / Mondays. And I know other's will say the testing requirement still won't stop things, but it helps as most other Countries require it.

She told me the comuna tour was 50 k for half an hour (30 minutes), which is a really fast tour for that area (and expensive). I paid 50 k for a guide for 3 hours. I don't know what her other rates are. She also suggested a ride to parque avri for 120, although I'm not sure about going alone with her for the first time to that area.

My tour of Comuna 13 takes about 30 minutes or less. It's free, but she's got a much better ass. I've taken the drive to and from Parque Arvi. 120 k is not a bad deal, depending on how long you stay. However, a much better and cheaper way is to take the Metrocables. Go on a weekday morning and you'll probably be riding alone.
Suites 44 is convenient for a Laureles motel. Rooms are very basic but have air conditioning.
I'll be going to Medellin in June. I want to go with the ladies in El Centro. Have been before and enjoyed the scene behind the church but was by myself and felt out of place. Where are the closest ST hotels in that area? I never pulled the trigger last trip down there but would like to hear the views of the guys who pull the girls there and where do you go with them that is the safest place. I hear about Premier plaza but have no idea where it is. All tips would be welcome.

I think BlackThought meant in general when things do open back up that flying into Dusseldorf and hitting the FKK sauna clubs were a better choice than having to fly into Barcelona and taking train then taxi to La Jonquera.
