I'm very interested in visiting Medellin for my next trip.Which Girls are giving better Service? Street or Facebook / Tinder?I don't find the Answer for these Questions the last few Pages and I'm hoping, that someone could answer this.It's actually a very simple answer, all of them can provide just as good of service as the others. I've been building up my friend list for the past two weeks, adding chicas that I'm relatively sure are working. I won't speak for anyone else, but for me, hell no I don't pay 250+. Unless it's for TLN. There are some girls on FB who think highly of themselves and will try to charge you that price (especially new guys or weekend warriors who have limited time and don't care) and may not come down, but the key is being willing to walk. I bet I have sent out fifty to hundreed in a day before, as far as I know there is no daily limit, there is a total limit of having 1000 unaccepted freind request at one time, and then FB will tell you to delete some of your requests that have not been accepted (I've been there), but again that is after you have 1000 unaccepted friend requests sent out. I find that I get an acceptance rate of like 1 out of 5 so I know I have to send out a lot to get a good return.

I felt like FB started tightening up also, the first time I got on restriction it was a rainy Sunday and I just really got into the search and was sitting at the computer for hours but adter that it seemed like I would only a couple of hundred and then maybe fifty or so then they would cut me off. I only sent requests to the ones I was fairly certain were prepagos.
The other thing that happens sometimes is FB will not allow me to send a request a message comes up saying something to the effect of "FB only wants you to send requests to people you actually know" and they willnot allow the request to go through, sometimes it someone I do not have any mutual friends but sometimes it does this when I have mutual friends and sometimes the person is in my "people you may know" feed. Easier said than done transferring US Dollars into Colombia via Allianza, when I opened my account with them I had to be vetted in person and bring copies of my USA tax returns. And than the transferring of USD into Colombia can get quite involved as well depending on the amount and what the monies are to be used for which has strict government controls and documentation requirements. A better option would be if you could open a Bancolombia bank account somehow when your in Colombia, and then withdraw funds using ATM machines and make cash deposits into your Bancolombia account when the exchange rate is good when your in Country.
Prior to the beginning of the Pandemic when the exchange rate was over 4100 COP to the USD, I was withdrawing money everyday using two ATM cards and making cash deposits into my Bancolombia account and getting as good a rate as Allianza was offering with no paperwork / attorneys involved which I posted about at the time.
Maybe somebody else has figured out how to get in on on a good exchange rate while out of the Country but I haven't heard of it as yet.I ordered a debit card from Wise, I'm not 100% sure how it works yet, but I will find out on my next visit, their website says you order a card and buy cop or any currency at great rates.
Whilst at home in USA, I just sent someone in Moscow $500 usd thru their website it was less than $10 usd, that's less than 2%.

Spirit cancelled my flight this morning 08-04-2021 at 12:05 am, now I had to scramble and find an airline that was flying out, couldn't get stuck in MDE right now, I'm just too far up in finances to get stuck in Medellin. It's 100% possible to do without posting identifying information. I still only have pictures of backgrounds and no face pics in my profile, but I'm starting to speed up on the adds. This girl you've arranged to stay with has all the cards in her hands and you've got zero leverage. I'd recommend to just stay in Medellin and get an Airbnb. Just wanted to save people some time who are trying to get their test done before returning to the US.
After a few searches from the lab testing PDF that other member provided here, Laboratorio Medico de Referencia SAS - +57 304-538-1428 was by far the most responsive and the easiest to deal with in terms of scheduling someone to come to your apartment (or hotel) for your COVID testing.
Everything is done via Whatsapp texting. It's all in Spanish, but you can just pop out of WhatsApp and paste the conversation in the Google Translate app to follow along with what they are telling you. Do not expect them to reply instantly though: it may take them 30 minutes to an hour to reply to you (or more), but they always reply and since they have the chat history, they are well aware of what you've talked with them about previously.
You have to schedule the in-home visit with them one day before you want the test done: so if you wanted to be tested on a Thursday, they will tell you to contact them on Wednesday. I highly recommend you contact them first thing in the morning if you want testing done the next day.
They also had the best payment options:
*Efectivo (you can pay in pesos).
*Credit card (they bring the card machine with them).
Other labs want you to do an electronic transfer, which means you have to find one of those kiosks with a teller, give them the lab bank transfer details, and make the payment a day before you want the test in order to confirm your appointment. That's too much work!
You also have to make sure the testing is done within 3 days of your flight. So if your flight is on a Tuesday, you cannot get tested on a Saturday (outside of the 3-day testing range required). You would have to wait until Monday (they are closed on Sundays and holidays).
I got the Antigen test (Antigeno) and it was 140 k pesos with results via email in 3 to 4 hours after testing. The in-home visit fee (el servicio a domicilio) was 25 k pesos: so 165 k pesos total.
They also had the best time window for the lab tech to arrive at your place: 6:30 am to 9:30 am. And they actually showed up within that time window (not late).
Another lab gave a window of 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, which is ridiculous!
You don't have to leave a tip, but I gave the lady lab tech a 10 k peso note just because they made the entire process so damn easy compared to other labs, and for the fact that they come to you, were the most responsive, and had multiple payment options.
This information is specific to those staying in El Poblado. You will need to ask them if they service your sector where you are staying.
You will need to provide them:
*Your full name.
*Passport number.
*Date of birth.
*Email address (to receive your test results).
*Name of the Barrio you are in (like El Poblado).
*Exact direction of your residence.
*Phone number (use the same number you use to talk to them via WhatsApp chat).

The plastic card you can get for around 50 cents a piece and masks for depending on how many you buy for lets just say a dime which is rather an overestimate. I read on here that it is the best value for money but honestly if you have to pay for taxi rt to centro and st hotel because it makes economical sense instead of walking to treehouse which charges you 42 k or something stupid I asked in a few places and didn't find anything better tho so I have to agree with sanpeter being excellent value for money however, it still is the worst experience I ever had with a hotel by a long shot.

After a few searches from the lab testing PDF that other member provided here, Laboratorio Medico de Referencia SAS - +57 304-538-1428 was by far the most responsive and the easiest to deal with in terms of scheduling someone to come to your apartment (or hotel) for your COVID testing.
Everything is done via Whatsapp texting. It's all in Spanish, but you can just pop out of WhatsApp and paste the conversation in the Google Translate app to follow along with what they are telling you. Do not expect them to reply instantly though: it may take them 30 minutes to an hour to reply to you (or more), but they always reply and since they have the chat history, they are well aware of what you've talked with them about previously.
You have to schedule the in-home visit with them one day before you want the test done: so if you wanted to be tested on a Thursday, they will tell you to contact them on Wednesday. I highly recommend you contact them first thing in the morning if you want testing done the next day.
They also had the best payment options:
*Efectivo (you can pay in pesos).
*Credit card (they bring the card machine with them).
Other labs want you to do an electronic transfer, which means you have to find one of those kiosks with a teller, give them the lab bank transfer details, and make the payment a day before you want the test in order to confirm your appointment. That's too much work!
You also have to make sure the testing is done within 3 days of your flight. So if your flight is on a Tuesday, you cannot get tested on a Saturday (outside of the 3-day testing range required). You would have to wait until Monday (they are closed on Sundays and holidays).
I got the Antigen test (Antigeno) and it was 140 k pesos with results via email in 3 to 4 hours after testing. The in-home visit fee (el servicio a domicilio) was 25 k pesos: so 165 k pesos total.
They also had the best time window for the lab tech to arrive at your place: 6:30 am to 9:30 am. And they actually showed up within that time window (not late).
Another lab gave a window of 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, which is ridiculous!
You don't have to leave a tip, but I gave the lady lab tech a 10 k peso note just because they made the entire process so damn easy compared to other labs, and for the fact that they come to you, were the most responsive, and had multiple payment options.
This information is specific to those staying in El Poblado. You will need to ask them if they service your sector where you are staying.
You will need to provide them:
*Your full name.
*Passport number.
*Date of birth.
*Email address (to receive your test results).
*Name of the Barrio you are in (like El Poblado).
*Exact direction of your residence.
*Phone number (use the same number you use to talk to them via WhatsApp chat).

Cmon guys. I know this isn't for everyone. But I'm young and up for a little adventure. When I arrive in a new city 9/10 I haven't decided where I'm going to sleep or how long I'm staying, it has always worked out fine. I have used couchsurfing and stayed with people in random towns in Mexico, I made this proposal to multiple women and while there were others that accepted I ended up blocking them when I realized something was off / fishy or they simply lived in bad conditions.
I already videochatted with her and her place is in a good neighborhood (she has a good king size bed, air conditioner, modern furniture). I will use up all 180 days of my tourista vista in 2021. For 2022, I am pretty sure I will be changing visas to allow more time, but there are many options. My last trip to LatAm. I kept my Rolex at home and wear only my Fitbit. I checked with locals about areas that are safe before I even make my hotel booking. And only then in the aforementioned areas. And only after I get the same info from more than one source just to be sure. So no. You won't see me getting drunk or doing drugs in places where the cops can shake you down or I end up in a biopic like Broken Down Palace. I don't even pull street walkers. Never feel the need to do that because those are usually the bottom end of the scale. There are other safer ways to get better quality WG everywhere...sure you pay a bit more...but hey...I'm cool with that. I personally don't feel too much sympathy for those victims because they have every resource on hand to be avoid their situation. But they chose to be arrogant and think they're an exception to the rule. There's no testing requirement to enter Colombia at this time.

When you arrive in Colombia your passport is stamped with a tourist visa which is good for 90 days. You can apply for an automatic extension with Migracion Colombia for another 90 days (there is a small administrative fee) BUT you are limited to 180 days per calendar year. If you over-stay the 180 days you will be charged a fine (how much isn't clear) and if you start throwing around how important you are and you're American etc. You may find that you are precluded from returning for some amount of time.
So unlike many countries you can't just border hop for a day and come back. That might work for getting the second 90 days on a tourist visa but you will be turned away once you reach 180 days.
There are, of course, other options. You could sign up at a language school or university and prepay and study a language that would get you a student's visa which would permit you to stay longer. You could retire and once you get all the documents in order you can get a pension visa which can be for as long as 3 years. There are also investor's visas and other types as well. I realize this is beyond most people's interest level but I thought I would include it for completeness sake.

A bit of background. Bought a 1-way ticket to Medellin, (bought a fake return ticket in case they asked me at the gate, and they did so I was glad to have purchased one a head of time).

Technically, they were granting extensions but it was taking longer than 90 days to process which meant they were expired by the time they were granted. And "visa" has different meanings in different countries. Here is it just the stamp on your passport that starts the calendar countdown as JJ said, after 90 days you have to leave the country and then you can return for another 90 days, or file for an extension. Before Covid you could file for the extension of your tourist visa on line, very simple and instantaneous. I have not checked on that this trip because I am already on my second 90 days or "extension" based on the date of my stamped entry at Immigration at the airport, so this option is no longer available to me for 2021. You can come and go as many times as you want in one calendar year as long as no single stay exceeds ninety days (unless you apply for an extension, then you can stay 180 consecutive days) and the total of all visits in one calendar year cannot exceed 180 days. Not. One. Day. Over. Clear as mud?
What you don't want to ever do is overstay your visa. While I have known amigos who overstayed and were allowed to leave on their scheduled flight with a slap on wrist at the airport, I have also heard reliable stories of people having to cancel flights, spend 2-3 full days at the Immigracion Office where 99% of your time is just waiting, with daily fines that are no longer trivial, and with other penalties depending on the mood of the Immigracion officer sitting across from you at the moment, including not being allowed to return to the country. Nothing is standardized when it comes to official government process and procedures in this country. That can vary depending on which city you are in, which office you are in, and which official you are talking to. I have had officials sitting at adjoining desks tell me conflicting info with no attempt to resolve the issue. Welcome to Colombia.
All of the above discussion was for tourist visas. There are many different kinds of visas, probably over 20, I haven't counted. The visas used to have "names" like "tourista" or "pensioner" visa which are still used by convention, but the entire visa system was switched to alpha-numeric codes years ago. I hope this helps.

Credit or debit card to pay the fine and cost of the salvoconducto.
The salvoconducto costs 60,000 pesos and the fine starts at 440,000 pesos and can go as high as over 5 million pesos. But if you have overstayed for less than three months I have heard from a few foreigners the fine can be less than 700,000 pesos.

The problem when Covid was peaking is they were not granting extensions of the 90 day tourist visa. Technically, they were granting extensions but it was taking longer than 90 days to process which meant they were expired by the time they were granted. And "visa" has different meanings in different countries. Here is it just the stamp on your passport that starts the calendar countdown as JJ said, after 90 days you have to leave the country and then you can return for another 90 days, or file for an extension. Before Covid you could file for the extension of your tourist visa on line, very simple and instantaneous. I have not checked on that this trip because I am already on my second 90 days or "extension" based on the date of my stamped entry at Immigration at the airport, so this option is no longer available to me for 2021. You can come and go as many times as you want in one calendar year as long as no single stay exceeds ninety days (unless you apply for an extension, then you can stay 180 consecutive days) and the total of all visits in one calendar year cannot exceed 180 days. Not. One. Day. Over. Clear as mud?.I stayed in Colombia for 354 consecutive days, although I could have legally stayed 370 days.
At the end of my first 90 days I went to the Migración office and extended for 90 days. It was a bit time consuming, I think 3 hours.
Before the extension ended I prepaid for 3 Spanish classes at EAFIT. 3 classes gets you e 6 month student visa, 6 classes gets you a year. Then I had to take a trip to Bogota to get the visa. Probably took another 4 hours. Somehow 180 days plus 6 months came to just over 1 year.
Cost of 3 classes was about $1000, might be less now with the current exchange rate.
