Yamaha update that no one asked for. Turns out there is a three month backlog for orders from the factory on all new Yamahas, internationally. We checked Bogota, Cali, same story. All the motos you see in the shop are already sold and waiting for delivery. Here's where it got weird. The dealer wanted a 100% down payment to order the bike. Granted it is a seller's market, but that is typical for how businesses take advantage of the average every day Colombian here who does not know the difference. I told him I would put a down payment of whatever his normal profit margin was on one moto. I threw out the figure 2 million COP at him on a 12 million COP moto. I explained to him that if I don't follow up with full payment at time of delivery, which they say could be three months or longer, obviously they keep the deposit and sell the bike to someone else for double their usual profit. The guy looked at me like he was stunned by my logic, jajaja. He went to go ask his manager and I left because he took too long. There is a moto zone in El Centro. About 2 blocks where nearly every business either sells or repairs scooters and motorcycles. It's located a few blocks west of the Prado metro station. At least I believe that's where you'll find it.
I don't know if there are any Yamaha dealers there or not, but it might be worth checking out.
If you want to talk to an expert, who might be able to point you in the right direction, go to Medellin Sport Rentals and ask for Santi. It's located in the Manila neighborhood. Carrera 43 F #14-45. He can give you an opinion about every make and probably help.
They also do rentals of motos and ATVs.

Takeaways and Summary:
Overall, I fucking love it here, as opposed to the US, most women here are in-shape, feminine, and attractive. I've never heard of immigration ever asking to see a return ticket upon arrival, yet the airlines have been the one's checking / inquiring about it before boarding.But why would the airlines care? Depending on the type of visa, there's an average balance which must be met or exceeded to qualify. The bank statements are for whoever is accepting financial liability for the extent of your stay. Along with the bank statements a letter is required (from the same person as the bank statements) declaring acceptance for financial liability. Basically, someone is saying they will pay to fly your ass home at the expiration of the visa.

I'm finally moving up to the big leagues or rather down (south) to the big leagues from Tijuana to Colombia. Thank you for your help.You should also check the rates at the cambios along calle 10 as I found one there with a better exchange than those in the mall. It was on the south side of 10 across the street from yet another cambio. It's worth your time to walk around and shop rates if your changing much money.

Decided to stay in the mountains for a few days and stayed at the Monte-Helicon Ecolodge located between Santa Elena and Parque Avi. The property has ten cabins, two large jacuzzis, a large dry sauna, along with a large steam room. I took my Tomboy with me, and we where the only guests there on the second day of our stay. It's a cool place. And the Spa facilities were totally ours and we would cycle into the dry sauna, then the steam room called a "turco" here, and then into one of the Jacuzzis which were actually heated with an extensive air bubbling system and have beers while kind of melting away. It's called a pre-cedula, and you are correct that they do not resemble cedulas. In any case, it's not difficult to reference the date of birth.If you're talking about Colombians after turning 18 and applying for a cedula they receive a contrasena which doesn't have a photo and is not accepted as proper ID when checking in a chica at either Energy Living or San Peter apartments. Each time they lose their cedula (which happens strangely often) they receive another temporary contrasena and it's still not accepted at those buildings even if they know the chicas have been there before with their cedula. It takes about two months to receive their official cedula after the application.
If a chica tells you she has a contrasena tell her to get back in touch after receiving her cedula. Apparently the contrasenas are easily and often faked and so you're playing with fire.

With a copy of this report some places will accept it as a form of ID. I know this from personal experience as one of my Chicas had lost her Cedula, we went and reported it, and with the report in hand, the Hotel we stayed at accepted it, albeit some places won't. I have never heard of the Colombian government issuing separate numbers for people with Cedulas. Perhaps the reference to contrasena is the actual Cedula number which would make more sense.

As I noted in a post here a month or so ago, the club's floor area seems to have been cut in half compared to my recollection from visits a year earlier. And, to my annoyance, they imposed a 30,000, three beer minimum, in addition to an entry charge-making it more costly than a visit to one of the upscale, more upscale clubs (La Isla, Fase II) that offer both a larger and better quality chica lineup. A particular pain if you just want to pop in briefly to check out the talent available, and leave if the pickings seem slim--as is as often as not the case.

I think we might be lucky that distance will keep a large number of those asian focused mongers away from Medellin. When a Colombian loses their Cedula, they are not issued what your calling a "contrasena" but must file what is called an "anucia", basically a report issued by places that have access to Cedula data base and has the persons name, date of birth, and Cedula number. With a copy of this report some places will accept it as a form of ID. I know this from personal experience as one of my Chicas had lost her Cedula, we went and reported it, and with the report in hand, the Hotel we stayed at accepted it, albeit some places won't. They really do see the ride home as an extra expense not included in their charge. Even my "free" regular girls always ask me for taxi. Yesterday I captioned post "4-Hour Trip Downtown." Bus rides added up to one hour, Metroplus L2 downtown, 30 minutes, Belen local bus home, 30 minutes. I like riding buses better than taxis, not just for economy but for experience too. I like being near people and observing them. Especially now that I have Covid-19 vaccination. I also like the Metro trains but where I live Metroplus buses come within blocks.
I only spent one hour with a chica yesterday, so where did the other two hours go? Wandering around, smoking, checking out flea market under the Metro, eating lunch, scoping out Botero Plaza and talking to chicas there. After a few searches from the lab testing PDF that other member provided here, Laboratorio Medico de Referencia SAS - +57 304-538-1428 was by far the most responsive and the easiest to deal with in terms of scheduling someone to come to your apartment (or hotel) for your COVID testing.
Everything is done via Whatsapp texting. It's all in Spanish, but you can just pop out of WhatsApp and paste the conversation in the Google Translate app to follow along with what they are telling you. Do not expect them to reply instantly though: it may take them 30 minutes to an hour to reply to you (or more), but they always reply and since they have the chat history, they are well aware of what you've talked with them about previously.
You have to schedule the in-home visit with them one day before you want the test done: so if you wanted to be tested on a Thursday, they will tell you to contact them on Wednesday. I highly recommend you contact them first thing in the morning if you want testing done the next day..

To put this into context, I first discovered the bust and beauty of Medellin back in 2013 when I was 32 years young and expanding my Latin American travelling experience. It's a stone's throw away from Niquia metro station and Puerta del Norte mall, and walking distance to many local bars and restaurants. It took me about 3 months from picking the place to getting the official keys to it. Lots of financial, technical, and clerical paperwork that I will not bore you guys with. I first stayed in Bello back in 2016 and I loved it. I still enjoy El Centro, Laureles, Poblado, Envigado, etc. The further south you go presumably the 'wealthier and safer' it gets. Well, that's when I go north. I'll rather be the king of the north haha.
I just got back to the States a couple days ago after about a 4 week stay. I furnished my apartment within a week with all the essential appliances and furniture. Online shopping is the way to go, I bought almost all my stuff from Homecenter, Exito, and Fabricas Unidas. Almost everything was delivered within a few days, but there was some boutique and boogie stuff I bought in advance since I knew it will take 2-3 weeks to deliver. I'm trying to make my apartment looking straight off from Energy Living haha, even though I never stayed there, just read on this forum people raving about the place. My sofa arrived couple days earlier than my bed / mattress, so I had to bang a few girls on there and def broke it in multiple angles. It wasn't all too comfortable, but when the girls were going down on me and I look outside and see the amazing view from the balcony and the girl in front of me, that's the reason I love Medellin (and Bello).
One thing I found out through this process is that guess I have hidden talent in interior design, who knew? I showed pics and videos of my apartment to friends and family and some thought I hired a professional to decorate and furnish the place. Some paisa friends thought I was staying in a high rise in Poblado LOL. When I told them I'm in Bello, they couldn't believe it.
Anyways, I know this is not your usual report about the current scene of girls and pricing in Medellin, but if any of you want a little side adventure, come check out Bello! Go to Obrero for the nightlife, head to Las Cabanas for some great local and fusion food, take a stroll in Parque Bello, and wind down in Niquia.
BTW, owning an apartment out there makes me want to permanently move there sooner than I thought I would, hopefully before I hit the big 50 haha. Also, I almost reached my 183 limit within the past year in Colombia, and I thought that travelling in and out with 2 different passports could help with that. But I consulted with a lawyer and he said Colombian immigration might already know about my dual citizenship and can come get me as a tax resident. So I'm leaving my bachelor pad temporarily for now, but I'll be back soon! Cheers!

I was talking to my gal hanging out in Colombia last week. It stuns me how more and more Americans are going to Colombia, and I asked her, "If we get married, am I a Colombian citizen? And she says yes.
Anyone who comes to Colombia can see the world does not come to an end when drugs are readily available and there are women who can be paid for sex. Why is the country with more people in prison than anywhere else looking to lock even more men up?
I will make my money in the USA, but the idea of having a place in Colombia where I could have fun is very appealing. I guess guys are going to have to start recording every conversation with women they have.

We drove around Bello in June I was looking around for newer bldgs to see if we could spot your bldg? We drove all the way up the hill where the apt complexes are and dead ends, I liked Bello.
I like the idea of living around locals not gringos, nothing against your choice, but you say you have a Panamanian passport, why not a nice condo in P city? Or Bogota?
I hear great things about Rio? What is it about MDE that made you choose it?
I must say my #1 dislike of MDE is its size, I consider it a pretty small city in a valley (I believe only 3-4 m?

I think you are in the majority by a wide margin. I have no problem with anyone doing their thing as long as it doesn't harm other people. The mall near you could be any upscale mall in Medellin. And you're so close to metro. I have less trepidation about going to Bello than some of my local girls I talk to, but they are going by reputation and not experience. I remember one time Soft Swirl was lolligagging around my hotel room and about to overlap with Secret, my next rendevous, and as soon as I told her Secret lived in Bello, she jumped up and got ready to leave quick, jajajaaja. I asked her, "Que pasa?" and she made a knife stabbing motion with her hand and arm in the air, saying, "those girls will stick you" jajajjaja. I don't think Secret would fuck anyone up but I know she knows people who would.
I believe a lot if not most of the good drugs in Medellin pass thru Bello, but there are bad sections in most municipalities. I am apartment hunting again. Not quite ready to do the condo commitment, and I have a build going on a mountaintop at a snails pace 3 hours north of here, where Catgirl grew up. Sounds very "boogie" to hear I am "building a house in Colombia" but it is very humble by American standards, but very nice for the village it is in. Sort of a "big fish in a little pond" kinda thang. We will have Internet, and indoor plumbing, jeje. We are going to add a second story. The rate limiting step is getting building materials on site. Half the cost is transportation of building materials, and the treacherous windy mountain dirt road washes out frequently.
I would definitely consider Bello, even though it's on the periphery. Estadio is great for it's central location, 90% of my taxi rides are less than 20 mil COP, 70% are less than 10 mil COP. Very walkable around Avenida 70 but very touristy. I am liking Sabaneta and Envigado, too. But Bello is great. I avoid Poblado. Too pricey and too much like the USA. I want to feel as though I am living in Colombia and not some mountain city in the USA. I am by no means an expert on Medellin, yet. My total time here added up is still less than one year. People often tell me that it seems like I have been here much longer but I think that's just the monger in me. People fuck the same all over the world, jaajaja. Ostee Out.
Yesterday I captioned post "4-Hour Trip Downtown." Bus rides added up to one hour, Metroplus L2 downtown, 30 minutes, Belen local bus home, 30 minutes. I like riding buses better than taxis, not just for economy but for experience too. I like being near people and observing them. Especially now that I have Covid-19 vaccination. I also like the Metro trains but where I live Metroplus buses come within blocks.
I only spent one hour with a chica yesterday, so where did the other two hours go? Wandering around, smoking, checking out flea market under the Metro, eating lunch, scoping out Botero Plaza and talking to chicas there. I enjoyed all of this, especially since I started off in Medellin living downtown in the now-defunct Hotel Botero for ten months.
But it was tiring, I realized when I got home. I needed a nap. I used to be able to keep on the go all day but I'm getting old at 71. You will most probably be a "tourist attraction" for most Colombians as it would be very rare for them to encounter Asians in Medellin.
With that being said, you will actually be a babe magnet, especially in El Centro, which could be very good in some ways.

In Bello, I rarely see any gringos and almost never see any Asians. The only chinos I see are the ones working at mom and pop Chinese restaurants LOL. Lots of paisas are into Asians. I grew up in California, so I'm into modern style and fashion so most paisas like the way I talk and dress, especially when I can speak with their cultural slang and swag. You'll get non pro action like a kid in a candy store. But from time to time, I do get stereotyped because people will ask me what part of China I'm from or how is it over there in China when I wasn't born there or grew up there. I still have some family in Hong Kong. Anyways, don't matter if you're Korean, Japanese or Chinese, you'll get called a chino. I had to educate many on the differences and similarities between the countries. BTW, I was born in Panama so I actually grew up speaking Spanish, so I just got lucky.

Thanks, once you drive by the Niquia metro station, there's a bunch of high rise buildings in that area. You'll def be able to spot mine. I love the area I'm in. In the last 6 months that I've stayed in Colombia, I've spent about 5 of them in Bello. Yes, Bello gets a bad rep for being dangerous and such. That's fine with me, even if Medellin gets overrun by gringos, Bello will still be a no go zone for most of them. Panama City is too expensive and use the USD. And not interested much in Bogota.

Long ways to go to be retired, but def working on early retirement. Job is semi-remote in a way. My best advice to learning Spanish is to practice with anyone and everyone you can. I can't really recommend any apps or programs since I don't have much experience using them. But yeah, locals are at first shocked at how I can speak Spanish, and once they know I can speak like them with all the slang and mannerisms, it's game over. They like this chino paisa parcero right away haha, and the Bello girls are just easy pickings. Non pro action is for the taking. There's lots of pros that live in Bello of course, but they're a very small fraction of the population. Anyways, just remember it's super dangerous in Bello so don't come out here please for your safety (wink wink).

Hung out in El Centro for a bit. Checked out Botero and the area around Vera Cruz. Carrera 53 and Calle 51 and vicinity. It was lively, seen a few older gringos entertaining very young chicas playing loud music and drinking. The area is quite a spectacle. Many SWs were below average and a few doable. I like Santa Fe in Bogota better. I posted up in a bar that plays Vallenato and Mexican music. I had the bartender play a few songs that I liked. Grabbed some Pilsens Grandes for 5 k and people watched the streets. Someone needs to get the homeless lady with the missing leg below the knee some crutches. She needs a better way to get around. Anyways I winded up talking to 2 chicas that were cousins. Shared some drinks and they did the same. Also shot down some Aguardente. One chica told me that she use to sell beers on the street but the police shut her down. Once her cousin found out that I was trying to hook up with her she started cockblocking. Damnit. She was ready and her prima blocked every effort. Oh well.
It got late and some places started to close but others were still open. By the time I walked back through Botero the cleaning teams were pressure washing and buffing the plaza and the street sweepers were cleaning the surrounding streets with the trash trucks. It was very late or early morning, depends on how you look at it.

Here you go.I always heard there were two rainy seasons in Medellin (MDE), and your graph does show a bimodal distribution and we are in one now. I grew up in Florida and the rainy seasons here' are no worse. You can generally dodge the rain and not alter your activities. It's NOT like Thailand where you will be wading up to your mid-shins in water.
What I love about the rainy season now is it seems like at least half if not more of the rain falls during the nighttime. I am not saying it's the only place in the world like that but I have never seen it anywhere else. I did a shallow dive on the InterWeb and I could not find any data that showed rainfall per day by the hour. Who doesn't like to sleep with windows open and listening to rain? And when you wake up, everything is freshly washed.
They do have a strange awesome phenomenon here I call faucet storms if you look at the foto you can see why. I got caught in one of those deluges. Sat in out in a bar for about an hour. The overhead cable cars would not run afterwards, and there was some non lethal mudslides. And I have been on one side of the valley with the sun shining and watching a faucet storm on the other side and never got wet. Anyone you talk to on phone here will tell you if it's raining first thing in the convo sort of like an early warning system. Today, I spoke to two people who told me it was raining hard where they were and not a drop where I was. Than at dinner a few hours later eating outside under cover like most restaurants here, it poured hard, and we had to wait 20 minutes before we trotted back to the hotel.
In summary, the two features about rain that stand out to me in MDE are the faucet storms, and the nightime rains. Ostee Out.
As if someone above turned on a faucet and I have never been in a harder thicker rainstorm than one of these, including Florida hurricanes. I am not a meteorologist, but my theory is the rainclouds build up pressure on the far ascending sides of the mountains until they are read to burst, and then when the rain clouds hit the peaks and cross over into the valley, the sudden drop in pressure dumps the water. Not much of an agency guy but my experience is that it's usually difficult to get one.If the girl isn't already putting it out there unblured, it is a waste of time to even ask. If you're going to run a business in Colombia, you will need a visa which allows you to generate an income in Colombia. I'd recommend talking to at least a lawyer and an accountant.
You'll also need to deal with the red tape of registering your business in Colombia. Again, talk to a lawyer and an accountant.
If you're going to employ Colombians you'll be required to contribute to the national pension fund for each employee. Lawyer and accountant again.
Of course the downside is that there are already plenty of groups offering tours, groups which have been around for a long time, have lots of experienced guides and an established customer base.
Another downside is there are 2 distinct groups of gringos who visit Colombia. There are the mongers and then there's everyone else. Mongers, for the most part don't have a big interest in paying for tours. Between World Travel's map and mongers who are happy to show guys around, it's not much of a market.
For the non-mongers, the local market already offers plenty of options.
The thought has crossed my mind that you are considering pimping under the pretense of offering guide service. Don't get offended. I can think of 3 reasons why that's a bad idea.
1. There are already plenty of Colombians offering that service and they're unlikely to welcome any outside competition, especially if the competition is undercutting their rates.
2. Pimping is illegal in Colombia. The rewards aren't worth the risk.
3. Every girl will immediately bypass you and keep the extra money.
What I've found, and I've taken lots of mongers and shown them around, is most guys will happily buy a few beers or even a meal for the tours, but they're not ready to hand out enough cash to make it worthwhile as a business. Why should they? For 50 k they can go to the Mansion bar, make contact with mongers there who have years of experience in Medellin, and get the tour for the price of a taxi. Or there are plenty of guys who are more than happy to share knowledge with them.
A Colombian paying 300 k monthly for rent and utilities can make a go of it, but most gringos need a lot more just for Colombian expenses, without considering they probably have other financial obligations back home.

I always heard there were two rainy seasons in Medellin (MDE), and your graph does show a bimodal distribution and we are in one now. I grew up in Florida and the rainy seasons here' are no worse. You can generally dodge the rain and not alter your activities. It's NOT like Thailand where you will be wading up to your mid-shins in water.
In summary, the two features about rain that stand out to me in MDE are the faucet storms, and the nightime rains. Ostee Out.This is very helpful. Per my research the temperature range is 85-63°F year-round. Months with the least rain are Jan-March, but if the rain is as you describe, then I shouldn't have to plan my trip around the weather.

If you are local ignore that. Also issues with licensing. If your tours include anything to do with the business we talk about here on this board be doubly careful. A very well know guide from the past decided it was better to jump out a window from the fourth floor with a sheet around his neck rather than face what he was facing.
