I promise a long a detailed report when I get back to the USA. I arrived when it was 117 in Las Vegas. Bogota, it was rain and 60. I luv it. Medellin a little warmer. I have met hundreds of girls. Fellow "mongers" tour guides and lots more. But later. I decided that since 500,000 gringos already visit Colombia (2019) I want to help them save $ and have more fun! So I am close to starting a tour business. I need to find more Bilingual girls for tour guides. I just started posting in some FB groups. Guys are making the usual stupid comments. If I knew a social media influencer here in Medellin. I think that would be ideal. Any other ideas from the board?.

I introduced a friend to a woman I liked but never connected with. I had crossed her off as being too materialistic. I told him not to give her money. He was chatting her up for weeks before the trip. My gal talked to this new chica, and she said that the chica seemed nice. Later she also told me that she was afraid the chica may have been too materialistic as well.
They met and talked a long time. Guy felt sorry for her. She needed rent even though it is the middle of the month. She is living with her "brother" renting a room. I knew she is in the South living in like a level 3 apartment. She quoted him $330 for rent and he paid her. He even fought with me before hand, "I am going to give her something", he said when I recommended he pay her nothing. He paid a lot to go and see her and saw only her, and they did not even finish the deed.
We met after our trip, and he wanted to talk. When he told me about what he did, I groaned. He was saying that he might not see her again, and I told him, "Dude, she was probably not with her brother but her BF. " he was a little bummed and got quiet then. I tried to protect him from getting taken. I really did, but sometimes I knew, you just have to learn it on your own. As much as I tried, those doey eyed women and their damsel in distress ways were no match for me. I felt badly for him. I have been there.
Point is DC no matter how pure your intentions were (and mine were pure as can be), these chicas are going to screw over many Americans, and no matter what you say or do, you will be powerless to stop them. I just think that if you introduce Americans to Colombians, most will be itching to screw Americans over any way they can. I was his tour guide and I felt like I messed up. I just think you are going to be very disappointed when Americans get screwed over which is bound to happen.
The only way you can make this work is if you go over and over and over again with Americans to pay suggested prices. At least then when things go badly, you will not get the blame.
Are there any in or around Medellin that are active?

You've only been in Colombia for 60 days and you have met hundreds of girls?I have hung with Don and will vouch for him. If he says he has met hundreds of women, he has. He took my model of getting seeking women and blew it up bigger and better than I ever did. I never had the time he had or the imagination to accomplish what he did, but in the end, things worked out for me. He is an impressive and cool person, no BS in him at all.
This is very helpful. Per my research the temperature range is 85-63F year-round. Months with the least rain are Jan-March, but if the rain is as you describe, then I shouldn't have to plan my trip around the weather.During the rainy season it rains almost every day, but it's usually off and on, unlike the Pacific northwest where it rains all day, every day for months at a time. I used to carry a light rain jacket and a compact umbrella when it was likely to rain. Heavy rains and storms seem to usually hit late afternoon or early evening.
I see a lot of guys have used Tinder successfully. But how well would it work without a profile picture? I can fill out the rest of the personal info accurately except for real name.
Just don't want to take a chance that the wrong people will see me and mess up the rest of my personal life. Only looking for prepagos etc. On a 2 week Medellin trip coming up.A couple of tips.
1. If you pay for "Tinder Gold" you can set your location to Colombia and people in your physical vicinity shouldn't see you unless their search criteria / distance includes Medellin. There are some exceptions and I've seen some locals slip through the cracks maybe they matched in the short period before I changed my location. This is also a great way to scout in advance.
2. Tinder gold also allows you to block people you know by phone number. You do have to give tinder access to your phone book to be able to do this on iPhone.
I admit that I'm being lazy. Not too long ago someone mentioned the lack of trail maps for Parque Arvi. I can't remember who it was and I didn't feel like searching. Besides, this might be useful for others.
You might try the GAIA GPS app. A friend of mine who is into hiking, mountain biking and camping recently mentioned the app. She says she is able to use it in airplane mode to minimize battery drain and still follow the trails. I just downloaded it to check it out and it appears to show all the trails in Parque Arvi, with distances, elevation and all the information you might need.
Whenever I read one of your stories, I think, "This filthy fucking degenerate. " I say that as a sincere compliment. I don't understand how I got here. At some point in the last few years I decided to discard imposed cultural mores and values and be open to all possibilities. I never had a plan. I went on a vacation about five years ago and the weight and negative energy that was expunged from my body compelled me to call in to my Fortune 100 See-Suite (fucking auto-editor) position and tell them, metaphorically, "Sell the house, sell the car, sell the kids, find someone else, forget it, I'm never coming back, forget it, I'm never coming back."
Around the same time my 16 year marriage was ending. I never strayed, never cheated, never touched another woman. Caught her 3-4 times but forgave her every time. " I was already a proponent of teleological thinking so I let my brain do its job. Basically, I envisioned my happiest state and went where I felt compelled to go. I realize that probably reads as one of the biggest bullshit statements of all time, but it seems as though my entire life has been five year segments of me ending up in places I could not have imagined until I arrived. I never thought of myself as a hedonist but I can certainly see how on the surface that tag might fit and if it does I will own it. I would like to believe I am not that selfish but I really don't know for sure. Believe it or not, one of my central tenets is from Buddhism, "Desire is the source of all sadness and suffering" which is the opposite of hedonism. I am constantly trying to avoid desire, and live in the instant.
Just curious. Why would it be especially good in Centro? Is it because it's mostly Venezuelans and they're not used to seeing Asian people?I'm Asian 40 ish and I can tell you being Asian doesn't help in Centro hahaha, not to me at least, maybe I blend in too well?

Next topic. I do not know you but in 3 years or less I will know your name and where you are from since you will be in the news. Several countries have legalized prostitution and many countries it is illegal and do nothing about it. It is between a man and a woman. Except when a "middle man" aka pimp gets involved. Then it is largely considered human trafficking in sooo many countries. Your brainiac idea is to advertise that you are breaking the law and how to contact you (aka find you). While prostitution might be legal in Colombia, pimping or organizing sexual tourism is not. And I am pretty sure that the country you are from the laws are more strict in this regard. Basically a broader definition that will entrap you.
You have not even done step one on a business idea. Is it legal?

I'm Asian 40 ish and I can tell you being Asian doesn't help in Centro hahaha, not to me at least, maybe I blend in too well?I am also Asian in my 40's. I have a hard time seeing how we can blend in well, I probably saw one other Asian in the week I was there. LOL.
Be very careful. Tour guides from outside are viewed with some suspicion. If you are local ignore that. Also issues with licensing. If your tours include anything to do with the business we talk about here on this board be doubly careful. A very well know guide from the past decided it was better to jump out a window from the fourth floor with a sheet around his neck rather than face what he was facing.Or you could end up like Cuba Dave did in Costa Rica if you draw government attention.

Just got a friend request on my medellin account that smells like a scam. First they mention starting an adult Whatsapp group because "There are many single girls here who need good sex. You can participate here without spending any money. " It is in English but it does not say exactly where "here" is, all the privacy features are turned on so there is nothing but the name. I googled the profile photo and it came up on three other websites so obviously a faked profile photo. I would strongly advise anyone not to take the bait.

Sure, the potential in Colombia is unreal. I was looking at toll roads and asked my gal why it takes 8 hours to drive from BOG to MDE, and she said corruption. I know there are mountains but we have built roads through the Rockies here.
Then there is the beauty. There is so much in Colombia but if you are not close to a city, it is damned hard to reach. I drove to Doradal from Medellin. It took 3 and a half hours and is like 100 miles.
Thing is they have a great river park near there. I cannot imagine how busy they would be if it were an hour or hour and half hour drive from Medellin versus 3 and a half to get there. So much of the country is undiscovered because of this.
Then there is the food. You have the source of great ingredients and the cuisine is well, not good. Peru has turned their access to freshness into a foodie kingdom. So there is a need for great chefs.
And I do think you are onto something because my friend quizzed me before I got there, and I helped him feel way more comfortable. I even got him to get Global Entry even though he has not gone through the entire process yet. I got through USA customs in a minute while it took him 45. There are so many gimmicks like that you pick up along the way. For him, though, he was shocked at how smooth the flight was.
Also, if you do meet someone like I did, going on a 2 hour flight to Cancun or Mexico City is something very intriguing to American men like him (and me) frustrated with the sex prison. You can get a better looking, better performing Colombian for a weekend (or longer) for what you would pay an American hooker for an hour.
And yeah, the medical tourism is huge. The biggest thing is just asking around and knowing who is good and how much they cost.
And lastly, you have the women. The Feds are making whoring in the USA more and more difficult every year, and I have noticed that if you want to do drugs and fuck, there is one country better than any other. Again, people are going to want guides though.
When I have asked people why Colombia is as poor as it is, time and again though, I hear the same reason, corruption. I just wonder if the government will let you make any real money there.

If you're employing people, working in Colombia, there are legal issues, tax issues, etc. Unless you're just not going to worry about those things, which is always a fantastic idea, right up to the point when you suddenly find yourself neck deep in shit.

I will still post more later.You've gotten a lot of feedback, and something not mentioned was potential tax issues in Colombia. Albeit your not moving here, you may be subject to paying taxes in Colombia to DIAN the IRS of Colombia. And Colombia is not a tax friendly country to either foreigners or it's citizens. If you haven't already done so you should get some advice from a Colombian tax attorney. What I can tell you is that if your generating income in Colombia, DIAN will be looking for at least 33% of the net income after all expenses, and business expense deductions are not like in the USA.
Just something to consider, and your not the first guy on this board that has proposed something like this. I believe Jb2 illuminated many of the obstacles you may encounter in your quest.
Personally I wouldn't think of doing anything like your proposing. Up until the Pandemic many locals were starting up tour companies and it will be very difficult for a foreigner to compete with them.

I had not been back to MDE in about 6 years. Stayed in Poblado and took metro down to El Centro. Then the heavens opened and the rain fell in buckets. The Gods were angry, or so I surmised with all the thunder. I have never been in such a violent storm. One guy told me it was because of the altitude. We were closer to the clouds. In any event, I was dodging the rain just like all the other people. Girls included. Hanging out drinking beer under an awning, waiting for it to let up. In the meantime, it got dark. Got into a conversation with a pair of Paisas who told me that their business was selling pot, but that they'd offer me a "Trio" if I wanted. The price was eventually decided to be 150 K. Not wanting to repeat the mistake of yesterday in BOG, I asked all the relevant questions. Yes, they had no problem kissing. No, it didn't matter if it was a girl on girl kiss, they were used to it. We were in the lobby of a hotel around the corner when I pulled them aside. What about BBBJ? No. Never. Funny, they had no problem doing lez sh*t but BJ without rubber? That crossed a line. So I said no thanks. Across the street was Brillidh. That is a name, by the way. It's how she spells Brigid. Great GFE. Open to all kinds of kissing, as long as I provided her a beer so she could wash the taste of nicotine out of her mouth. She smoked a lot. Very flexible young lady with digital skills. Price was 30 k + 20 k for no rubber. She paid for the room. Lovely girl who lifted my spirits. Rain came on again as I left. Same intensity. I sat and had a beer, to decompress. Then metroed back to Poblado. Two observations: I never felt unsafe walking around El Centro at night. I was only in the Plaza Botero area, chasing skirts, but no one bothered me. I didn't see any other gringos out. Just locals. Second, the rain was a nuisance but it sort of bonded us all together. It was ridiculous to be out in the torrential downpour and as I chatted with vendors and others standing under the Metro or in doorways, we saw the comedy of it all. So, maybe if it had not been rainy and there were more people out and about, maybe it would have been different. But I enjoyed it.
Day 2 in MDE: Visited El Centro -- Calle 11 -- in the afternoon this time. No rain yet, which made me happy. Smell of Maryjane powerful all over the region. I retraced my steps from the day before and found a whole new flock of talent standing around. One QT looked just right and smiled in a way that warmed my heart. I made sure to discuss terms first. She wanted 40 K but would not perform oral without condom, so I had to excuse myself. Not far away was another QT of questionable age. After a conversation and a closer inspection, I saw she was legal and would meet my demands. She warmed up considerably after we got to the hotel room. Funny and joking. Loved how her body looked and posed in the mirror. She told me to take pictures of her (but not naked) and then we got down to business. Total GFE. She wanted to get off as badly as I did. Demanded I DATY and she reciprocated. No clock watching and she didn't ask for money until it was over. The original price was 30 K but with the "extras" I asked for it came to 80 k + tip. She was sweet and told me that next time I'd receive a discount, since we were now friends. Rain on the way out of the hotel. I stopped and drank a beer to wait it out. I went back to the house, rested, then the sky opened again. Crazy rain. Walked to Parque Lleras. Not much activity due to rain. I didn't approach the three or four girls who gave me the come hither look. If it had been dry out I might have stood and chatted, but I wasn't in the mood to get friendly in the rain. Wound up at a great pub called Patrick's Pub and met some cool folks. The Lleras area seemed dead, but it was a Monday and a holiday on top of that, so maybe that was it. Or the rain. I could see really enjoying this spot if I had more time. Back to the house and tomorrow off to CTG. More in that section.

I will remember this in the future. The thing about the photo is that while I seriuosly doubt that it matters it is probably attached to all kinds of things on the internet, including a the original legit profile so I hate to post it.

I am also Asian in my 40's. I have a hard time seeing how we can blend in well, I probably saw one other Asian in the week I was there. LOL.You're correct, you will never blend in, yet since very few Colombians have actually seen an Asian in person, this will work to your advantage with the Chicas as they will be curious about you and if you have some game and speak some Spanish you can have a field day.

The Tall Man.I'm sure he's a fabulous guy, yada, yada yada. However, as I've experienced and seen others experience, being a fabulous guy doesn't mean much when you the local tax authorities are intent on collecting their fair share.
He might be screwing the most beautiful women in the world, 4 or 5 of them a day, spending more money than I earn in a month, but when the taxman comes knocking that's not going to matter.
If someone posts an intention to do something I consider unwise or dangerous, I don't take the time to talk to everyone who has met him before responding. Because, who he's met (or what he's like) has nothing to do with my response.
"You're wearing $10,000 watch and $20,000 in jewelry and want to walk around Manrique, drunk at 2 am?" I don't care if you have perfect teeth and fight MMA. I don't care if you're really nice and are dating Miss Colombia and her twin sister. I don't care if your net worth is over $1 billion. I'm going to tell you it's not a good idea. Being a nice guy doesn't make you bulletproof.
If anyone is planning on starting a business, particularly one that employs people in another country, it's in their best interest to consult with someone with a knowledge of the local laws. Doesn't matter how great of a party they throw, or whether they can dance.
I use All Trails app on my iphone when I was hiking in Parque Arvi. I would fire it up when I got off of the Gondola / Food Court and start it there so no matter what trails I went down I could always find my way back to the Gondola. It's pricey at $30 per year but having been lost a few times in the Colorado back county it's priceless.
I have done some trails at Parque Arvi. You must be careful, you can easily get lost there.
I get that request all the time in Medellin & San Jose. To get around these requests sometimes I will negotiate a price before hand and say that it includes taxi fees.
I got a few times in Cartagena girls asking for money for the cab ride back home, and of course the cost they ask for is very inflated, I've never gotten that anywhere. Do you get that in Medellin?

Does anyone know if they do Rapid testing at MDE Airport? My flight is at 1 AM.Yes, there is a test site at the airport. I think it is open 24/7, but from what I hear, you should allow at least an hour to get tested and get the results.
I always give them a price and make it clear it includes taxi fare. I have had girls over inflate the price of a ride or not bring their cedula or bring a fake one and get caught.

80% of taxi rides are under twenty mil COP here from Estadio-Laureles which is centrally located in the city.20 Million COP to USD is showing 5 K USD. Did you mean 200 K COP? Sorry new to Colombia.

20 Million COP to USD is showing 5 K USD. Did you mean 200 K COP? Sorry new to Colombia.Mil means thousands. All the notes have printed in large numbers on them either a 1, 2, 5, 10,20,50,100 (I haven't seen larger than a 100). You made me look at one of my 50's and it actually says right next to the 50 "mil pesos" meaning 50,000 COP. COP is the official three letter ISO 4217 international code which stands for Colombian peso, and has nothing to do with the Mexican peso. The United States dollar is USD. Million is written "millon".
Roughly, you can think of 100 mil COP like an USD 20, plus a skosh more, or about $25.76 USD. The exchange rate is high now.
Therefore, 50 mil COP = $12.97 USD.
In my example, 20 mil COP means 80% of my taxi rides are less than 5 bucks USD.
Using the dollar sign $ in front and USD after the number is not redundant as there are other countries that also use the $ sign for their currency, including Colombia, Argentina, Bahamas, Fiji, Singapore and more.
I hope that helps and that this post is error free. Yeah, that would be really bad if my erratum correction was also in error, but entirely possible as I routinely go two nights without sleep and I didn't sleep a wink last night, jeje.

I stated once before that I thought some businesses took advantage of Colombians on pricing by not doing much negotiating on larger purchases.
I want to step back from that statement. They are not negotiating from a point of strength to take advantage of anyone. Based on my experience today on buying a moto, the simply do not know how to negotiate.
There were several steps along the way where they added value to my side of the deal when I didn't ask for it. I would have sweetened my offer or compromised my terms, but I never had to. They caved or more frequently, gave up bargaining chips when I did not even ask. Unheard of in the USA. The sales lady one time said to mi novia, "he's a good negotiator. " Perhaps, but yeah, against them anyone would look good. I am not saying I robbed them. I didn't test their limits. The definition of a good deal is when both parties are happy, and we were.
Yamaha was already testing our limits with a 3-4 month waiting list to take delivery on a new moto. Then, when we went to put the down payment, Yamaha added to the complication by saying they could not put the "papels" or papers (title, insurance) in Catgirl's name if we used my debit card. So we walked. Across the street. To the Victory dealership. Victory is to Autotech what Acura is to Honda. Now of course, I would expect the sales lady to say this, which she did, "The only thing you can buy at Yamaha that you can't get here, is their name. So now we're at 12 millon COP. A different sales girl grabs Catgirl's arm and takes her over to the clothing rack. She puts a really nice moto jacket with the hard shield inserts on her, and asks her if she likes it. I am digging the jacket but thinking what's the angle? Obvisously the only thing that actually changed was some wording in the user agreement.

But the hotel is on a busy street, so I can imagine that on Thursday. Saturday, it would get noisy in the front. So get a room in the back. It is guest friendly. I used to do invited peer reviews for scientific and medical journals. You are in way over your head on this. Allow me to assist you.
The paper proves nothing. It is in a journal about "philosophy" which technically is not a science. Your "study" would not pass the muster to be published any reputable scientific peer reviewed journal. To prove the point you seem so earnest to make, you would need a double blinded, placebo controlled, randomized trial that gave observer responses to a sufficient sample size of different girls in a social setting comparable to mongering and used the same kind of scoring system we are talking about here on this board, basically a one to ten scale.

One is called a collectivo which is shared with other passengers going to wherever in the City and I have no idea how many different passengers they take or the cost, but unless your the first person being dropped off it make take awhile to get to your destination. Best bet is to just pay the 80,000 COP and I'm typically at my place in less than 30 minutes and this fare is for Poblado. I don't know how much the fare is to Laureles, it may be the same. When you arrive at the airport, you will also see yellow taxis waiting for customers, and the price is the same as the white taxis, yet the white taxis are larger and more modern, hence I use them versus the yellow taxis.
Also, there will be guy's offering rides as well who are Uber drivers or other drivers which I won't use. I had a friend come down and I told him to only use the white taxis, and some guy approached him, said it would be 80,000, and then when getting in the car said it would be an additional 20,000 COP to use the tunnel to get to Poblado and he just paid it so that's another scam to avoid. As an alternative you can always take the City bus which runs I think every twenty minutes and I think is around 16,000 COP and will drop you off in El Centro within a block of Hotel Nutibarra and across the street from Hotel Deseos.

The airport bus is 13,000. One route ends at San Diego and the other in Centro behind the Nutibara. Either bus will drop you at San Diego if you ask.
