I happen to agree with the opinion here that the culture for men from the girls leans toward liking them chubby. I used to be morbidly obese with a BMI of well over 40. Now I am at 25 (diet and exercise only). I think that a lot of people have a tourist sort of ayahuasca tours but I know people who have been invited to have the proper ceremony. You will need a guide if you are doing it properly and not just getting high. Additionally, if you are just getting high it may not be the experience you want. Have you ever done acid? Mushrooms? Peyote?

Peyote?Yes, my impression about psilocibin research was that in the USA it's insanely difficult, nearly impossible, to gain access to it for research purposes as the govt put it on Schedule I, with no "known" medical uses. So we can't discover medical uses because we can't have access to it because it has no known medical uses. Brilliant logic.
I don't do recreational drugs, I did have mushrooms a few times at locations where they are legal and I could get them from legal sources. No peyote (I am open to it but needs to be in a safe place from a reputable source) and no acid. Mostly because of possible permanent adverse effects when done wrong, but also question of trustworthy source being that I am not connected to the community of users.
I have a feeling that the tourist sort of ayahuasca may not be helpful to the same extent a proper ceremony would be. So that's what I'm trying to find.

In a nutshell, poverty is the exception to the rule in North America, while here in Colombia, poverty rules.The official poverty rate in the US in 2020 (most recent official rate) was 11.4 percent. Eight times that is 91.2. Anyone who believes the poverty rate in Colombia is at least 91.2 percent must be on one of the hullucination trips being discussed here. The last barber I went to just started with the clippers without asking anything. Took 6 weeks for my hair to grow back to the length I wanted it to be and my hair grows fast.
However, I've always gotten good results at the various hair salons. If you're staying in Laureles there's a street full of them on the south side of Unicentro mall.
As reading DANE stastistics from a Web page. First of all, the work force in Colombia is very "informal" meaning it is hard to know who to count as employed and not employed.
There are many different ways to look at it depending on your methodology. I have this annoying habit of actually analyzing and synthesizing data before I accept it. I prefer a more direct comparison to the USA since I would want to know roughly what levels would be equal to feel like you are living in poverty between these two countries, where I spend most of my time, Colombia and USA. To wit (these numbers are rounded), the poverty level here in Pussy Prison or the USA is around $12,000 USD per for a single individual per year, which equals about 45 million COP per year.
Half the Colombian workforce is at or below the minimum wage of around 12 million pesos per year. If I generously attribute the cost of living (which does not necessarily equilibrate the quality of life) to be about half in Medellin as it is in USA. Then we can use a cut-off of around 22.5 million pesos per year for people living at or below what would be considered the cost-corrected level of poverty for the United States. I think everyone would agree that living at or below the minimum wage would not be much fun, in either country. This puts around 80% of Medellin's living below this level. This is consistent with around 80% of the people in Medellin living in the lowest two social stratas used by the government to develop social welfare programs (although the strata system does not consider the income per person).
I was using a poverty level of 10% for the USA, that could be off as when I Google it now I am seeing a range, but 80% from above is 8 X bigger than 10% which is where I got my guesstimate.
Granted, it's easy to manipulate and use the numbers that support one's viewpoint but that's where I got mine and it's consistent with my empirical and real-world observation. Perhaps I overstated my cut-off point as poverty. More like, "it would suck to try and live on this amount of money. " I certainly consider it debatable and not the final word. In fact, anyone else can have the last word on this as I need to Keep on Keepin' On!

I am heading down to Medellin with a few like-minded friends in June. We have already booked an Airbnb in El Poblado.
Thanks to a very helpful senior member, I have already made some Facebook contacts.
Some FB girls have already contacted me, and one seemed to be really interested, but then wanted $300 (that's right three hundred US dollars!) for 3 hours. I passed knowing that the going rate is between 150 000 and 250 000 COP for 2 hours, and the fact that I still have time to separate the wheat from the chaff. My posting is slowing down a bit (getting a bit lazy as well). This is mostly because the last few days have been less crazy than the first few.
I came to Medellin for two reasons. First, of course, the women. And second, I wanted to improve my Spanish drastically in a short period of time. I am completely self taught in Spanish. And before this trip, I'd say that I was at a beginner level (still had trouble with some conjugation, object pronouns, and past / future tenses (god I hate grammar terms sometime)) And now, just 9 days later, I can confidently say that I have moved into the intermediate level.
For the last 6 days, I signed myself up for a Intensive Spanish class. I'm talking 6 hours a day in class, using 80% Spanish 20% English, one-on-one with a professor. It was great and I met some amazing people (my teachers) who had amazing life stories. I choose Baselang as my school because I would be able to continue online after the program (but there are tons of other schools in Medellin as well). I paid $400 for unlimited one-on-one classes for the week. By the last day of the week, I was having (broken) conversations about the war in Ukraine, the economic situation in Venezuela, and other "high level topics". It is crazy how fast you can learn a language if you really put effort into it. Plus, at night, there was the added bonus that I was able to practiced what I learned in class with chicas.
Anyways, this is what my schedule looked like for days 4 - 9.
Wake up 7-8 am.
Class 8:30 - 5 pm (with breaks in the middle).

So if you were thinking that you could do any online banking between a Colombian bank and a USA bank, there are a few options. I know that Wells Fargo has a relationship with Bancolombia, but to do anything online with them you need to have a Bancolombia account, and Bancolombia has lots of fees and a terrible exchange rate.
However ATM cards will work just like in the USA if that is where your from, with associated fees varying from bank to bank in Colombia.
My advice to you is too bring not one, but two ATM cards to Colombia, as some times there may be issues with one of your cards, typically security issues requiring verification of transactions.
Also, it's best to have International service on your phone so that when there is an issue with a card you can receive text messages. This happens to be a problem that guy's have when they come to Colombia without the capability to receive text messages.
As far as which Colombian banks to utilize for ATM transactions, that has been discussed on this Forum many many times, with Scotia bank being my go to bank versus all the others.

I came to Medellin for a quick extended weekend. Got here late on Friday night. I'm staying at an Airbnb on circular 1 in Laureles. 1 block from la 70. It's a nice location because you don't have all the noise but it's still close by. The apartment is spacious and it is guest friendly with no extra charge unless they spend the night. 24 hour reception and they don't ask questions. They photo copy cedulas of the chicas. I tried travelling to Med. In Feb. And was denied by Spirit here in the states. I hear that once you get there that they (immigration) don't even ask, However on the Gov. Website I'm pretty sure they still require tourists to have if not the full Vax (3 shots) then you must have at least 1 shot AND a negative test 72 hours prior before boarding. Absolutely ridiculous!
I hated missing out on some Paisa action but I instead ended up going to Cancun. Plenty of Colombianas there on Seeking.
My issue now is trying to find a decent flight into Med from Myrtle Beach. Spirit no longer accommodates and US Air is 3 x the cost that I used to pay at nearly a grand!

this is my official position on Schwab vs any other option: Schwab is the best, there is no other viable solution.Having both Schwab and E-Trade is optimal. Schwab charges 3% if you purchase with their debit card and E-Trade only 1%. Both refund all ATM / cash machine / cajero fees but E-Trade charges a 1% fee on foreign withdrawals. So, for the dedicated traveler, Schwab for pulling cash and E-Trade for using the debit card for the rare situation where credit cards aren't feasible.

At the end of the day, it's the exchange rate the Colombian bank gives you as you have pointed out, along with what they charge as a fixed fee in Pesos to make the transaction.
And there's a big variation in this between the Colombian banks, with Bancolombia and others totally hosing customers as you point out.

The Visa Exchange rate is set based on the monetary exchange transactions at the end of the day. The reset is at midnight. So, on Monday at 12:00 AM there were no transactions on Sunday so the rate continues through Monday and gets reset at 12:00 AM Tuesday based on Monday's exchange rate transactions.

I screwed up by not understanding the tourist visa correctly and had to take a last minute side trip to Panama shortly after arriving in MDE. The tourist visa does not automatically reset at the beginning of the calendar year, as I believed. Therefore I had to leave and come back in 2022 before the 8 or 9 days left on my 2021 "visa" ran out. Please understand there is no "visa" in the proper since when you visit Colombia as a tourist. Immigration is simply going by your passport stamp to determine your number of days (90 days + 90 day renewal max allowed per calendar year) for tourism. When you "upgrade" or change to a true visa of which there are many different types, then you get an actual separate paper visa. Clear as mud? The word "visa" is used by convention for tourists.
Panama was cool but too much like the USA. I wouldn't make it a destination point for mongering but if you happen to be connecting there, consider making it a layover for a couple of nights. I couldn't wait to get back to Medellin.

How do I get money and which method gives me the best deal?
There are transfer sites like Western Union, Remitly, Zoom, WorldRemit and dozens of others. They all charge you either an up front fee to convert and send the money. Some will advertise that they have the lowest fee (which is true) but then they scalp you on the exchange rate. All in all you will lose 3 to 5% on your transaction.
Money exchange places. There are usually a few in the nearest mall or the airport. They don't tell you too much other than this is the exchange rate for US dollars. You will compare two or three and take the one with the best rate but again you'll be losing something on the order of 3-10%.
Using an ATM (cajero) is by far the best option. You will get the Visa Exchange Rate that was set the prior night at midnight EST. (Except Saturday, Sunday and Monday) are all based on the Friday exchange transactions.
Here are the important things to know:
Bancolombia will charge you a fee to withdraw funds. I think they only allow 600 mil as a withdrawal and they charge 16 mil for each withdrawal. This is way too expensive.
Servibanca also charges a fee.
Bank of Bogota charges a fee.
BBVA doesn't charge a fee but you can only take out 300 mil at a time (but you can do multiple transactions).
Davienda doesn't charge a fee and most of their machines allow a 2,000 mil (2 million) withdrawal.
Colpatria doesn't charge a fee and you can take 900 mil at a time (you can do multiple transactions).
Banco Pichincha doesn't charge a fee and you can take 800 mil at a time.
All these banks give you the Visa Exchange Rate. So there is NO better rate available at any of these banks on any given day. You can verify that for yourself, if you don't believe me.
Important: If in the process of withdrawing money you are offered the "guaranteed rate or bank coversion rate" or whatever they call it. You decline it!! Otherwise they give you a lesser exchange rate. If you decline it, you get the Visa Exchange Rate (which is what you want) and the Visa rate is always better.
Now with respect to what your US bank charges you to do the transaction. I can't say. Wells Fargo would charge you a fee to take their ATM card out of your wallet if they could.
Many US banks will charge you a transaction fee or foreign exchange fee or something similar. Surfer500 says his two banks don't charge it. I can only assume that he has a special status or longevity with his banks. Most banks will charge you something, it's what they do.
Schwab is great because they don't charge you on their end. As an inducement to get their card (and hopefull have some of your investments with them) they reimburse you any ATM fees the Colombian bank charges. So as an example, if you go to Bancolombia and withdraw money and get charged 16 mil for the transaction. Schwab will reimburse you the equivalent (in US dollars) of that ATM fee. A friend of mine says he has a Fidelity account and they do the same thing. No fees on their end but they will reimburse any ATM fees from the foreign bank.

This week started out with mediocrity, and ended with an exceptional find. Goes to show that this is ultimately a numbers game, and if you keep playing you will find what you want.

After going in and talking to my Wells Fargo (WF) banker in person here in the USA, he gives me the same deal with my WF debit card as my Chuckie S card. No fee from WF and they reimburse the fees from the Bank's ATM I use in Colombia. Okay, not exactly the same, WF limits me to eight ATM withdrawals per month or two per week, and Chuckie has no such limits. I lost my Chuckie card once while in Medellin and it was nice to be able to fall back on WF.
Obviously, I did not carry all my cards in public at the same time. I think someone already posted here about having two debit cards, agree. In fact, I keep extra charge and debit cards in my room safe in case I ever get robbed I can still function without missing a beat.
Also, in case it's not obvious, you very rarely need you passport in pubic, a paper copy will do 90% of the time. Western Union (WU) is one notable exception where you will need your actual passport, but if you are catching the gist here about the ATM's, you shouldn't be using WU.
Any suggestions on the rooms in Nutibarra? Are there better rooms than others. Which ones are quieter? I'm booked there for 8 days on my coming June trip but would hate to be assigned a room that I don't like. Thanks for any suggestions or shared experiences from recent trips.

I tried travelling to Med. In Feb. And was denied by Spirit here in the states. I hear that once you get there that they (immigration) don't even ask, However on the Gov. Website I'm pretty sure they still require tourists to have if not the full Vax (3 shots) then you must have at least 1 shot AND a negative test 72 hours prior before boarding. Absolutely ridiculous!
I hated missing out on some Paisa action but I instead ended up going to Cancun. Plenty of Colombianas there on Seeking.

But that is based on what they tell me. It could be that banks have different networks they use for this and Canadian banks may be different than some of the US banks in that respect. I have a Scotia account in Canada and it doesn't help me one bit in Colombia, they treat their subsidiary banks in South and much of Central America no differently than totally different banks.

If you don't like your room, you can always ask to switch, although you may not get to switch with one day's notice, and you might not like the next room as much as the first one. The staff there are generally very nice and accommodating, if you know how to treat people right.
The Nutti is a tired old dame in need of some renovation and they are not able to keep up with the needed repairs and maintenance. Other than the sucky Wifi, I love it there. Don't expect the Marriot for the price you are paying. You are paying for location. Good luck.

However I've noticed Deseo's has been remodeling the bathrooms in some of the rooms.
I can see Nutibarra being very cool if you have information about which specific rooms are the best.
I've only stayed there once, and just remember it as very musty. In the room I had there were drapes and they smelled like smoke, and the breakfast area was like a dungeon.
That was only one room and one night and not representative. I know there are some cool rooms there to enjoy.

I tried travelling to Med. In Feb. And was denied by Spirit here in the states. I hear that once you get there that they (immigration) don't even ask, However on the Gov. Website I'm pretty sure they still require tourists to have if not the full Vax (3 shots) then you must have at least 1 shot AND a negative test 72 hours prior before boarding. Absolutely ridiculous!

I don't hold myself as being super-experienced in the P4P game. There are a couple of rainy seasons every year in Medellin. Compared to Thailand or India they are nothing. More like an average September day on the Gulf side of Florida, where I grew up. For the vast majority of us, mongering is an indoor sport and fairly weather proof.

You may be onto something.Rain isn't really an issue in Medellin, but air contamination, and in previous years, prior to the Pandemic, the City would instigate pico / placa, which is currently in effect to reduce traffic during rush hours, but has also been used to reduce air contamination in the past.
Additionally, the way they refine gas in Colombia s not on par as it is in the USA, hence lower gasoline prices, but higher emission levels.
I can remember before the Pandemic, about three or four years ago in a February, that the air contamination was so bad that besides restricting vehicles on the road, all of the public sporting facilities were locked down for days at a time.
Rain in Medellin is always a good thing to help clean the air, yet at times can be a pain in the ass.
I always carry an umbrella with me, as the weather can change within a few minutes.
And if your in an apartment and forget to close all the windows when you leave, you can have a real mess on your hands.

Boots on the ground right now in MDE.
A vax card with 2 shots (Pfizer) worked for me to leave US and fly to MDE.
I had a negative PCR text (taken within 72 hours), not necessary, just as a backup provision.
The airport taxi driver (white and blue car) charged me 100 k mil to arrive from airport to El Poblado (I think he ripped me off because I have never paid more than 70 k or 80 k).
Uber sucks right now for getting around in MDE (couldn't get an Uber to pick me up for 20 minutes). I'm going to try DiDi, since I've heard good things.
The actual Park at Parque Lleras is still under construction. They are working super slow on the project. It will be nice once it's complete, but everything moves slow in Colombia and people here are lazy.

I know what the price range of each model is. Do I want a $50 k car or a $25 k car? If I'm only spending $25 k, I'm not wasting anyone's time test driving the $50 k model. The other point is that I'm not going to quibble over a few dollars. If I'm at 200 k, but she wants me to pay her taxi, I'll agree. The only category of people from the USA who I find more insufferable than digital nomads, are "expatriates". They are the people who for whatever reasons, usually lack of success in the USA, try to recreate the American lifestyle and culture on a shoestring budget somewhere else in the world. Often they do not learn the language of their host country, or try to assimilate local culture. Many times this is where the expression "Ugly American" stems from. I am heading down to Medellin with a few like-minded friends in June. We have already booked an Airbnb in El Poblado.
Thanks to a very helpful senior member, I have already made some Facebook contacts.

I have to agree with Cane. Most places in the US have a "best time to be there" Some places it's summer, some places it's winter, some places it's spring and fall. Medellin has all around great weather and it's consistent. I too have travelled all over and I can't think of any place that compares favorably.I prefer the Central American highlands around 1500 - 2000 meters. I prefer a distinct rainy season vs. Never knowing when it will rain like in MDE. And Bogotá is too cold, similar to Quito or Quetzaltenango. A little TOO high up. I'd say MDE has above average weather, but not great weather, because too much rain for my personal tastes. But I spent many years in the desert. La Serena or Viña del Mar in Chile is my kind of weather too.

In the US I've lived in the midwest, southeast, northwest and southwest (both pacific coast and high desert). I've visited every major city in the US, along with most of the minor ones, all 50 states, (Oahu and Maui in Hawaii, Sitka and Adak Island in Alaska), Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
If you take summer from Boise, Idaho, add winter in either south Florida or Texas, toss in early autumn in the Midwest, late Spring in Albuquerque, you get something close to the average year in Medellin.
It's either rainy, or dry. When it's dry, it's hot, Taos, New Mexico hot, not Phoenix hot, or Houston hot. At night the temperature drops nicely, just perfect for sleeping. When it's rainy, it rains every day, but it's not rainy like Seattle, where it starts raining at the end of September and stops raining at the end of April. You might get 3 days a year when it rains around the clock. Mostly, you'll get light to medium rain late night, a brief shower in the morning, possibly a thunderstorm late afternoon, with a few hours of off and on light sprinkling.
If you're there during rainy season, carry an umbrella and a light waterproof jacket. The rest of the time, wear sunglasses and use sunscreen. If it starts raining, stop in at a bar, or a casa. If it gets too hot, stop in at a bar, or a casa.
There are no mosquitoes and very few flying insects or spiders. You're more likely to find a small lizard in your apartment than any type of bugs. For most, except for in the afternoon, you can be quite comfortable without air conditioning.
As someone else noted, due to the confluence of mountains surrounding Medellin, air quality is often bad. If you stay in Laureles, air quality improves in the late afternoon when you get a strong, consistent breeze out of the west. If you stay in Poblado, air quality is better in the morning.

The warmest days in Iceland are still below the coolest nights here. Iceland's highs have a 20 degree range throughout the year. Medellin's average highs vary 2 or 3 degrees, with the same narrow range for the lows, and in a very comfortable range, hence "Eternal Spring. " I guess you were making some kind of joke.
Right now, April, is the month with the fewest hours of sunshine so maybe there is some immediacy bias. July is almost twice as sunny as now in Medellin.
Over a year's time 155 days are "sunny" in Medellin or a little less than half. The US average is 205 sunny days per year so Medellin is well below that. I grew up in the "Sunshine State" and I don't find the climate depressing at all in Medellin compared to some of the places I lived in the northeast. But comparing to Iceland? The temperatures are too far apart and the range is too wide to make that a meaningful comparison unless you're just trying to make some sort of peripheral point for effect.
The most remarkable feature of Medellin's climate is the constancy, or amazingly narrow and comfortable temperature range throughout the year. If that doesn't impress you, then probably not much else will about climate.
Another thing, have you looked around at the green space in Medellin? Because it rains enough and never gets too cold or too hot, the flora in Medellin is all stuck on "grow" all year round and incredible to see.

I had a negative PCR text (taken within 72 hours), not necessary, just as a backup provision.
The airport taxi driver (white and blue car) charged me 100 k mil to arrive from airport to El Poblado (I think he ripped me off because I have never paid more than 70 k or 80 k).
Uber sucks right now for getting around in MDE (couldn't get an Uber to pick me up for 20 minutes). I'm going to try DiDi, since I've heard good things.
The actual Park at Parque Lleras is still under construction. They are working super slow on the project. It will be nice once it's complete, but everything moves slow in Colombia and people here are lazy.

I lived in Phoenix for a few years, and it was my favorite climate. Medellin and Bogota are the best for women. I chose Cartagena for a place to settle in because of the weather but the women there want more cash than in other cities.
In all honesty, my favorite city with regards to women and climate is Barranquilla. I would have to loved to have settled down with some sugar babies there and gotten into a routine. The women there want less than Bogota or Medellin but there are just not as many of them. Other issue is there are literally like no touristy things to do but I think you could hang there during the week and head to Santa Marta or Cartagena on the weekends. BAQ has a desert like climate that reminds me a lot of Phoenix, but it does not get as hot.
The reason we settled in Cartagena is that is where she is from but also because I feel much better there than in Bogota or Medellin. The last few times I was in Medellin the weather was rainy, cold, grey, or dark.

Where do you see full Vax is required? Gov website says if not fully vaccinated then at least 1 shot AND a Negative test 72 hours before boarding. This is for non residents traveling to Colombia.
Full vaccination is required. Booster shots are not required yet, but don't be surprised if that changes.
Masks are required most places in Colombia, be prepared to wear them like everyone else does.
A COVID test within 24 hours is required to fly back to the US.
Why fool around? Get fully vaccinated, get your booster shot, wear your mask, and enjoy Colombia. Otherwise stay home.

I live in Envigado, where it is cold and wet and grey most of the time. But even when I do venture to centre, it's usually cloudy. Never gets warm enough to sunbathe, for example. Yes, it gets dark around 6 pm. Thats my point. Just like northern regions in winter. Its depressing to live inside, in cold grey weather. That has been psychologically proven. My hoe it gets dark around 7:30 pm, w 14 and a half hours of daylight.
When I travel with friends to the coast, my USA friends usually complain that its too hot, but I suspect that's bcos they come in their winter, they are not used to warm weather, and they are not very healthy. This is what I did, and my advice to you:
1) Go to the Columbia main forum and click on "Links to Reports of Distinction" read the relevant ones on Facebook and Medellin.
2) Browse the Medellin forum for the last 4-6 months. Read the reports and advice that applies to you. Skim the rest (for example, I'm not interested in the current debate on weather in Medellin, but there was a bit of advice hidden in some of the posts).
3) If you don't already have one, buy a membership to The Board. Its $25 (which is a drop in the bucket to anyone who is engaged in this hobby), and by doing so you support the board and are able to DM other paying board members. Bitcoin was a PIA for me to figure out and use, but hey that's what works.
4) Once you are a paying member, you can DM members who have a post in which they offered to help with adding Facebook friends and other things in Medellin.
**Note. I said members who have offered to help. You can message whomever you want, but the ones who have offered to help are more likely to be responsive. Please don't DM every active / senior member with a request for more help. Be selective, be polite.
5) Once you have a Facebook page and are "friends" with a few Medellin women, Facebook itself will recommend more "friends". Send request to those you find attractive and are in Medellin. If you are FB Friends with another board member, you can peruse their friends list and send out friend requests, knowing that they are likely to better respond. Usually the women who have a picture of money in the the background, or devil horns on their profile pic are good bets for "working girls". Also the ones who have overtly sexual pics. But be careful, some are only selling pics / videos and aren't interested in meeting up. I would avoid the "OnlyFans" girls, as they seem to be only interested in subscribers. Start a conversation with them a few weeks before you are going to be there, and you'll be able to figure out pretty quickly who is interested in meeting up (also see #2 above).
6) After you have done all of the above, if you still have specific questions, politely ask the board. I have found that most board members are helpful (shout out to ASUDevil1 and Sargon76) if you show that you have done your homework and are still genuinely looking for more info.
I am not an expert by any means on Medellin. I am trying to learn the ropes here as well. The above advice has worked well for me.

You just stated you live in Envigado. Envigado is it's own city, located inside the Medellin metropolitan area, but outside of the Medellin city limits.
When you frequently post about El Centro, then complain about the weather in Medellin, but you're actually complaining about the weather in Envigado, it clarifies that you aren't in Medellin, and certainly presents the appearance of someone who is unfamiliar with the local weather.
Chances are, while it's raining in the part of Envigado you mistakenly chose to live in, elsewhere in Envigado the weather is quite nice, and it's downright balmy in El Centro.
If you're from somewhere where the longest daylight period is 14 hours then you're also from a place where the shortest daylight period is 10 hours. That puts it at the 30th parallel, on the same line as Houston, Texas.

I'm being generous. The range in Medellin is 3°, 1° and 20° respectively.
However, with regards to temperature range, over the entire year, you won't find any place outside of the tropics with more minutes within 10°F of normal comfortable temperature for humans, which is 70°F.
Yes, it rains a lot in Medellin. A 1 hour flight away is the world's largest rain forest. If it didn't rain a lot it would be a complete nightmare. No trees, very little greenery, much worse air quality, dust storms, much higher high temperatures and much lower low temperatures. Worst of all, almost the entire city wouldn't exist. 5 million people can't survive in an area that doesn't have any water.
Here's a suggestion:
If you think the climate in Medellin is so terrible, go somewhere else. Instead of crying like a school girl who broke her favorite crayon, about something you can't change, pack your bags, act like an adult and change your location to one which better suits you. If you're only there because it's one of the few places in the world where you can afford to live and be able to pay for pussy, put on your big boy pants, stop whining about the weather and go fuck.

Granted the last few weeks here have been a bit dreary, grey, and rainy, which other posters have been remarking about, yet there has been more than enough sunshine to enjoy, albeit it's typically in the mornings as of lately from about sun up until early afternoon.
You might not like frolicking in the pool, but Colombians love it.
Last Thursday I went to the water park by the local airport with one of my Chicas, and at 11 AM it was packed because of Semana Santa, as all kids were allowed in for free. And it was plenty hot enough in that people were playing in the pools.
They have several pools that are heated, yet the large wave pool is not, so it's a bit brisk, but the Colombians were going nuts in it.
As your aware, the majority of Colombians do not have hot water to shower with in their homes, hence tolerating cold water is natural for them, versus typically not the case for foreigners.

I've spent a summer in Chicago, with no air-conditioning. For someone in Chicago to be saying Medellin is too hot (when a hot summer day in Chicago has a heat index 30° higher than a hot day in Medellin), it's like someone in Florida complaining that Idaho has too many hurricanes.
I spent a year without air-conditioning in Medellin, and other than turning a fan on in the late afternoon (western exposure), the temperature was never an issue. I spent most afternoons walking and barely broke a sweat. Even riding my bike from Envigado to El Centro, and putting some effort into it (had to get back to La Frontera before Ciclovia ended) just worked up a reasonable sweat.
Then again, anyone who has spent their life in the Midwest and never been to Medellin won't understand the role humidity plays.

Ok, so you've identified a chica that you're eager to have come by your place for a little gambol and frolic, and you have a maximum target price in mind that's acceptable to you, based in part on your understanding of her true worth in the Medellin monger market (local and expat alike). What does the literature on negotiation have to say about the next question: "Who should make the first offer?" Thirty years ago the conventional wisdom was "Get the other guy (well, gal, in our case) to state her price first", premised on the strategic value of keeping one's cards close to the chest for as long as possible while getting the other party to be the first to disclose some useful information. But in recent years, the pendulum has swung 180 degrees, with the research now demonstrating that, in most cases, it's actually in your interest to be the first to make an offer. This change has largely come about based on the "anchoring effect" first identified by Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman, the Israeli founders of Behavioral Economics. This from Wikepedia on the "anchoring effect": "In one of their first studies, participants were asked to compute, within 5 seconds, the product of the numbers one through to eight, either as 1 X 2 X 3 X 4 X 5 X 6 X 7 X 8 or reversed as 8 X 7 X 6 X 5 X 4 X 3 X 2 X 1. " For those presented with the sequence starting with the smaller numbers, the median estimate was 512. For those, who started with the higher numbers, the median estimate was 2,250. (The actual answer in both cases is 40,320).
Since then, a number of other similarly ingenious experiments have further validated / elaborated upon this "anchoring effect", regardless of whether the subjects are Stanford business school grads, or random guys off the street. The implication for price negotiations large or small: Being the first one to state a price creates a strong, unconscious bias towards your initial offer (the anchor) in the mind of the other party, and thereby tends to skew the final result in your favor.
That said, some negotiation experts qualify this conclusion as being dependent on your objective. If your aim is simply to get the best price, for sure, do make the first offer (as long as you don't low-ball so aggressively that the chica takes a walk). On the other hand, if your goal is that both parties come away from the negotiation feeling well satisfied with the outcome, you might still want to let the chica make the opening offer--with the perhaps reasonable expectation that she'll feel better about the outcome if she feels that she remained more in control of the process, and that this good feeling might translate into somewhat better, friendlier service from her in the sack.
Finally, in making one's opening bid, the negotiation literature, not surprisingly, advises one to leave some room for maneuver / compromise, rather than starting with a "take-it-or-leave-it" best offer. I guess an exception to this rule may be for the younger ISG studs who are knocking off multiple, doable chicas per day and operate in full "Don't waste my time" mode. And who understandably have no sense of investment in any particular chica. In my case, by contrast, I have as often as not invested considerable effort (and pesos) just to find the chica with whom I'm trying to make a deal (perhaps having made the luckless rounds of a dozen casas and strip clubs before having spotted her as a potential keeper, someone who really gets my juices flowing and, in most cases, also someone whom I have already taken for a super-satisfactory test drive in the case / club itself). Having made all this effort, I don't want to lose her over 50,000 pesos ($12 or so), or, in rarer cases, even 100 k.
In line with the above, during some introductory chit-chat I will have let the chica know that I'm a seasoned Medellin hand, and, when the time has come to pin down a price, will open with something like "I usually pay around 150 mil plus transport" (or "I have never paid more than x mil"). Then if we end up negotiating briefly and I agree to raise my offer by 50 mil or so to meet her counter bid, I try to leave her with the impression that I'm reluctantly making a rare exception in her case because she's so irresistible, "la belleza de Conejitos" (if not of all of Medellin).

This is what I did, and my advice to you:
1) Go to the Columbia main forum and click on "Links to Reports of Distinction" read the relevant ones on Facebook and Medellin.
2) Browse the Medellin forum for the last 4-6 months. Read the reports and advice that applies to you. Skim the rest (for example, I'm not interested in the current debate on weather in Medellin, but there was a bit of advice hidden in some of the posts).
3) If you don't already have one, buy a membership to The Board. Its $25 (which is a drop in the bucket to anyone who is engaged in this hobby), and by doing so you support the board and are able to DM other paying board members. Bitcoin was a PIA for me to figure out and use, but hey that's what works..That was well put. You might want to keep a copy because you'll see that same question quite often.
About your note after #4:
Don't ask for people to send you their contacts. Instead, explain what you are doing and ask for ways to find more girls. Don't be overly familiar. You don't know them and they don't know you. You aren't bros or buds. You're just a new guy hoping to learn from an old pro (how to find young pros).

You hit perfectly on my method. I want a deal where everyone comes out a winner. I'm also willing to play the long game. I don't need that girl on that day and 3 days later, my offer might be much more attractive to her.
I'm also looking long term. I'll probably be in Medellin many more times. I have a reputation of being fair and providing an experience appealing to the girls. When some girl puts my picture on the chica grapevine, she'll likely get a thumbs up from someone.

In regards to the weather, I just don't understand the complaints. I've worked outside in temperatures from -47°-125°, often dealing with extremely high humidity. I've worked outside in snowstorms, ice storms, dust storms and thunderstorms. I've dealt with 5 months of almost constant rain and 3 weeks when temperatures stayed below -20°. Then there are the nights, when it's still 85° at midnight.

Unless you first preheat yourself in a 200 degree sauna. Then you can last a couple of minutes outside at minus 100 F. I looked for my patch but couldn't find it, that shows I am a member of the "300 Degree Club". Your naked body goes from 200 degrees above to minus 100 degrees in seconds, for a difference of 300 degrees. Those with weak hearts should not apply. South Pole is the only place on the planet where you can do this. The 300 Degree Club has been called the most exclusive club on the planet, albeit one most would not care to join.
Oh, and I also fucked the most beautiful girl hands down on the continent, a Swedish model that made a pit-stop there for a photo-shoot in the summer. I think she was considered a super-model, bunch of people had heard of her. Her beauty was absolutely stunning. I was not mongering then. Obviously, I cannot show her face, but I did attach a foto. I see that I've rambled on at some length. For those who've stayed with this post to the end, Happy Hunting.Whilst this is an admirable effort to explain the negotiations rooted in western capitalistic models of negotiation. It omits to understand cultural aspects of Latin America. Women there are ingrained to let the man make the first move, and then ironically the gauge their worth by what a man offers. They also talk and act with more emotion than we do, especially the newer ones as opposed to the hardened pros, there is also consideration that need be give to the market place, is it casa, is it seeking, is it FB or is it Centro? Or that gringo fleecing joint called gustos?

FWIW I go with the make my offer leaving a bit of upside, 150-200 is my initial, next step up is why 30 por taxi, then 250 all in, if its crossing that, there better be a darn good reason, and even if it was Ms universe I ain't crossing 300 mil, not cuz I can't but because it's Medellin, and any hoe who thinks that highly of herself typically doesn't perform in the sack. The best sessions I have had are with my repeats and the money isn't even discussed, it's just something I give them on the way out, many times they don't even count it and it goes into the purse. Finally as JJB mentions, there is an element of whether the chica is attracted to you, if she is, then she is likely to prioritize you. Maybe even more than a slightly better paying guy. Familiarity, fun, connection, a little kindness and other things you might spend while together can make them prefer you.
Moonlight is a flake. She agreed to meet. When she didn't show, I texted to ask where she was. She claimed that she was in a taxi, but traffic was bad. About an hour later she claimed that traffic was so bad she had to turn back and could not come.
What I really want to know is what are some of the nicer hotels that are girl friendly.The Charlie Hotel is very nice and very girl friendly.
