I hope to inspire some fresh, not necessarily new, dialog. Just my stream of consciousness of what is relevant to me.
Which are the best bootleg Vitamins? Personally, the one's they sell in Colombia that are like little diamonds, I think are the best. Not the rounded diamond shape ones which are also bigger. I commonly find it difficult to finish, even with the real stuff. However, there could be many other factors which inhibit on any given occasion. I have a pretty high metabolism and eat many small meals a day. Maybe someone in the field can come up with some exact names. I ordered from India once and I thought they were okay but kind of week considering the strength they were labeled. I was later warned (by just another dude) not to order from India because their regulations on quality and contents are bad.

Gents, Sammytheman gave me a very inexpensive option to get to MDE. Through Niagara Falls, NY.
As those that live in Ontario realize, this is quite a hassle if you don't want to drive. How else do you get to MDE (exclude the obvious Pearson Int'l)? What are other cheap options to get there.
BTW, November was cancelled due to work, but now I can go in March. Anyone else going?

The only viable option is to take 2 flights to Colombia. First leg on Air Canada or Porter to EWR (Newark) or any airline to NYC (JFK, La Guardia). I would take Miami route instead during winter time.
Thomas Cook Canada has charter flights to Cartagena. I have checked February flights and they run at $875 for 2 weeks. Just exercise caution with this airline as the parent company is in dire straits (book only with credit card through a TICO agency).

A once nice low fare carrier has now become a specialist in ripping off customers with many easy to see, and not so easy to spot tricks.
Around 40 % of my flights leaving their hub in Ft. Lauderdale have had delays. No problems in going from FLL to Latin America as there are no more stops so they will wait for all the delayed flights. It is going to Stateside destinations where the real problems start. Not that long ago I had a 8:35 PM flight leave at 5:30 the next morning. We were supossed to get a $100 credit for the delay, but when I tried to collect it on another flight the customer service rep. (who spoke broken English, I don't think he was even in the USA) told me I had no credit for the incident.
I could make a list of all the gimicks they use to get extra money from you, but I don't feel like getting my blood pressure up.
I wish South West flew to Latin America.

Also the fact that they have the NERVE to charge you $25 for a carry on speaks volumes as to their business model and lack or moral fiber!

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. I've been to Medellin several times and Colombia is still one of the best places to buy prescription medicine on the cheap, zolpidem (ambien) cost 7k for 10 pack (thats 35 cents a pill).
However, I'm having trouble locating a pharmacy that sells zaleplon (trade name Sonata) , as ambien has too much side effects for me. Oddly I have no trouble locating Zolpiclone (Lunesta) in Medellin Pharmacies on the cheap (10k for 10 pack). Zolpiclone has less side effects and more preferrable to me than Zolpidem but I would like to try out Zaleplon as I heard it supposedly has the least side-effects of all the z-drugs.
However whenever I mention Zaleplon to Pharmacists in Medellin all I get are shrugs and blank stares, does anyone know if it goes by another trade name or is Sonata / Zaleplone just not available in Colombia?

I hate Spirit!Regular free upgrade to First Class, no charges for carry-on or checked in baggage, priority boarding, and most importantly, ticket prices COMPARABLE and normally LOWER than other airline.

OR when I fly into MDE or BOG and stay there a few days then take a local flight to another city where the baggage limit is 35 or 40lbs, what do you do with that 15lbs that came in with your original bags?
AA, TACA, COPA, Avianca International still allow the 2 bags at 50lbs each.
This Jacket, along with your 2 carry-ons and you should be good.

I don't bother with internet radio, I have about 1000 songs that the ladies like downloaded on my computer, I show them how to play them and let them choose what they want to listen to.

I use both Magic Jack, and Skype in Colombia. Skype is a little clearer sometimes, but is more expensive for me than MJ. If you talk to other people who have Skype then it is no charge. These things are great compared to how we used to have to go to an internet cafe.
I have three playlists on You Tube, but they keep knocking some of my songs off to to copywrite problems. This gets annoying when you try to set the mood for a long session.
On another note speaking of long sessions, on my next trip to MDE I plan on featuring many threesomes with true Lesbo action a must.

Magic Jack works fine in Colombia.Magic Jack works amazing. I only stay at apartments that have internet. I use Magic Jack to call the US. Internet radio the only one that I tried that had issues was pandora. I also have a long list of songs that I used.

I hate Spirit!I can't stand spirit you think your getting a deal but, with all the charges it doesn't pay. And they don't care about their customers. I missed my connecting flight because of a mechanical problem. They total denied that they had a problem would not comp me a room and there was no fight going out till the next day. The only reason I dealt with spirit in the pass was because I received free tickets through there credit card. No more spirit.

However, Spirit's prices have taken a sharp rise lately. What was once $220 to MDE from NY is now. $550+! They are still cheapest but not by much. I think Copa is the best deal going now. I'd rather take Copa since it's <100 difference. Avianca has among the best miles system which is why I am trying to rack up points with them.

Sorry for being off topic but;
In the past I always took a direct flight from JFK to MDE on Avianca. It seems Avianca no longer flies directly from JFK to MDE. Actually it looks like none of the airlines offer a direct flight. I really liked Avianca but their prices have gone up quite a bit. Copa and Spirit offer the cheapest flights. I've heard a lot of bad things about Spirit so would rather not take a chance. Anybody have experience with Copa?
Also have a question about cellphones. I bought a cheap cellphone in Colombia that I use when I'm down there. Can I transfer the sim card from my colombian cellphone to my smartphone while I'm down there? Obviously it wouldn't be 4G, but would I be able to access the internet at a wifi hotspot? Do any cafes or restaurants offer free wifi?

Actually. Went on copa website, and from TO it looks like its about $1130 inc. Tax. However, using trip advisor, they look up different sites, and the lowest I saw was $917 inc. Tax for 2 stops. If you don't mind the inconvenience of 2 stops then this is the best bet. I'd probably use tripadvisor.Don't use Copa's site. The prices on their website are insane. Using Kayak I found JFK to MDE for 569 in February. One stop.

Are you trying to put the Colombian SIM into your phone? If so, your phone needs to be unlocked. I wouldn't trust the reliability of free wifi. Just get a data plan.
It is like flying on United / Continental. They have an associate relationship with those airlines, since they are partly owned by them. I use them all the time and they always treat me well.

At any given time it can take forever to claim bags and get through customs. I arrived in Miami from Medellin a week ago today and I had a three hour layover, by the time I got to my gate they were already boarding, ridiculous. Most times 90 minutes will do it but once in a while you will miss your connection with that tight of a window.

Also took advantage of the morning tours into the mountains and back in time for lunch and ready to hunt in the afternoon. When I found out about ley seca I started asking around for the finkas. You would be surprised how many people have access to them. One of my freinds from san diego show took me to a lady she showed me what was available. She showed me several finkas on her computer. She quoted me at 150k for two days. When I got there the rooms were not all that but the pool was awsome. I'm talking about something you see in a movie. It had a huge statue of jesus crist that can be seen from miles around sort of like a miniture version of the statue in Rio. Since the finka was on top of a mountain it could be seen from long distances. The girls that came with me loved that spot, so insted of two days I stood four, and the lady brought it down to 120k per day.

It was 150k each day when I told them only 2 days, when I changed it to four days it was 120 k per day. The girls I brought were from Medellin they didn't charge me for anything. These are girls I have known for a couple of years. They were just happy to hang out for four days with free food and all the drinking they could handle. Like you said, it was like a free vacation for them. It took about an hour to get there it was in santa fe antiokia. The DR is a must see for the true Mongerer. A little more expensive than most of Colombia except for CTG, but if you like free lance bars than Classico in Sosua is great. I would go more to Sosua if I could get a flight to POP, but that is a tough deal from where I live. Another plus for me is a BBBJ was almost always a given.

1-So any inexpensive hotels or apartments someone can recommend?
2-Do you know anyone who gives Spanish lessons? I've looked at schools online but they want around 300 or so a week which IMO is outrageous for South America. There have to be private lessons somewhere for much cheaper than that.
3- What is considered dressing well in Colombia? I'm not going there thinking that I'm going to pick up a lot of non-pros but I do want to look good when I go out at night. Here in NYC I wear jeans, black dress shoes and untucked dress shirts and it's fine. Sometimes I'll wear a sportcoat as well. Is a sportcoat too heavy for this time of year? Are jeans OK or should I bring dress slacks?

UPB University is about 360usd for a 2hour a day for 4 week program.

Look up the Black Sheep Hostel Medellíand.
They are inexpensive, clean, in a quiet neighborhood and can arrange onsite Spanish lessons.
I've stayed there many times (they do have private rooms- some with private baths and flatpanel TV's) but have never had to take them up on the language lessons.
Also, you will meet people from all over the world there.

But I plan on heading to Medellin after the New Year to continue learning there. From all the research and reading I've done on the two schools UPB seems to be the best. Most people say EAFIT, that unless you have some understanding on Spanish already, is not that great. EAFIT University though is supposed to be super nice and have a boat loads of hot girls on it. Everything I've read about the UPB program has been good, and that the director of it is a great guy. Plus its cheaper.
Also keep in mind you will be required to get a student visa to study at either of these universities. Which is a good thing as it will allow you to stay in country for 1 year. But, you will have to go through the hassle of getting one. You can pay companies around $200usd or so to take care of all the paper work and trip to Bogota for you. Or you can do it yourself but you will need to go to Bogota.

My next trip I will take the bus unless it is near empty. If that is the case then I'll take one of those taxi's that go to San Diego that must have 4 passengers. Last time I did that it was 13K. Either way you still need another taxi to your hotel. Of course if you really want to budget it then instead of the second taxi you hop on the Metro. This works only if the metro stop is close to your final destination.
BTW I know most of the tricks to save money so why is it on every trip I end up way over budget?

Same here, LOL. What you need to do is write down everything you spend and see where your money is going. What I found was. I am spending way too much money on TAXIS! Taxi everywhere at night, taxis for chicas (unfortunately, my chicas live 15-20k outside of town). If you have a wing it's not too bad, but by yourself it's a killer!

Class was in the basement of the library so don't expect to be seeing lots of hot paisas during class. Before and after class I would sit at the tables out in the common area and see quite a few hotties though. Also if you are a student there you can sign up for a gym membership at a reduced price. If you are not a student you can still use the gym but it costs more. Oh and the program director will say anything to get you to sign up so take it with a grain of salt. Sure he's a nice guy, he's trying to sell you something.
I considered EAFIT first, and checked out their campus a couple of times. Definitely more hot chicks there, classes are more expensive and the girls are a bit snobbier, probably having to due with their families having more money. But at the end of the day I'd bet green money that even the hottest girls in EAFIT will fuck for bucks. Need a good connect for that though, which I don't have sadly.
ETA: You don't necessarily need a student visa to take classes at either university. I have a rentista visa and that was plenty good. If however you are on a tourist visa, then yes you will need to get a student visa.

I just thought what a difference it would make if all gringos and foreigners would carry a little change in their pocket and give to all the beggars in the street. I ussually save all my change and give anybody that asks and the little indian people on the street 500 pesos, that's about. 25 cents, or 200 pesos which is about. 10 cents. I spend 1-2 months every time I come to Medellin, so most of you guys that just stay a few days or a week, I'm sure can afford a few pesos.
I mean, we spend hundreds of thousands of pesos partying and phucking around, so I'm sure we can spend a few pesos-cents on beggars. Most people think gringos and foreigners are wealthy and it just looks really bad to see all gringos go by beggars without even a Hello. I just think it makes everybody look really bad. Our reputation would benefit one hundred fold if all spread a few coins around, I believe.

I'm a Veteran and in the law enforcement community, but Colombians arent coming to fight. Its a gun in your face point blank. Dominicans mostly carry knives which if you have the proper training, you can disable. But a gun by a serious Colombian changes the equation.

We base everything on pussy, but neglect the basic respect that is due from as foreign traveler. The last five years its been about pussy and partying. But I ask myself what is missing, and I understand the pussy is a given. Its about respecting the culture and people. Pussy is the easy part.

I always thought like that but now that my trips are longer, and more frequent I have the luxury of stopping to smell the roses. Having a pocket full of coins is good. I also when eating one of those huge 8 K meals on the Mayo strip I wait till I see a poor hombre, and ask him if he would like to finish my half eaten meal. I have never been turned down on that offer. I also go to the wholesale fruit market, and buy a watermelon. Me, and my Wingman never finish it so we give slices to the children walking by. At first I was charged 5K for a decent melon, but after the jefe saw my action he started to charge me 4K for the same melon. Now when I go there he has the knife out for me with a big smile on his face. I know this type of thing is not for everyone, but I'm sure some of you guys could come up with ideas on how to be a decent person while on the mongering trail.
Funny thing is I get a lot of pleasure out of doing things like this. As a side note on my last trip one of the girls (18 years old) my wing gave a slice to came back every day at the same time for another slice. My thoughts on sex prison. We Americans and women in particular are "safer" from harm, better educated, more ambitious, (all relative terms) but also self supporting and freer to follow their feminine instincts of "find one healthy reliable man and have babies." You cannot fault them for this. Marry that with the fact that we live in a very materialistic culture. So, being part of this particular forum, I get it. I have lived in various places around the US my whole life. When you demonstrate power, looks and money, and let's not forget confidence, it becomes exponentially easier to get laid in the states. as a matter of fact, medellin is more a day-oriented city. as most restaurants close early (to the latin standard) , most casas are open only at day time. the centro itself turns to be quite dangerous at night, and it's not for everyone (i am one of those who used to walk alone around the centro till 2am, as i duly reported years ago).
if one goes to medellin for work, and not for spending a happy week hopping from casa to casa daytime, what are the available options (i mean for p4p)?

That is where the market is in Mayorista, but to find the wholesale fruit, and vegtable market would be a little hard to find as it is located a ways from the entrance. Thursday nights draw a happy hour crowd. 15, 000 COP entry gets you 5 beers, plus an optional tour. Hours: 5:30 – 9 pm. The last Thursday of each month features a live band too.
Arte Vivo. Calle 25 #43G – 25. Barrio Colombia. Rock bar with live bands.
Bolero Bar – Carrera 67B, #51A – 98. A historic little bar known for attracting musicians, writers and artists visiting Medellin. The bar has published several books (in Spanish) filled with short stories by the bar's well known patrons.

There are tons of theaters in Medellin, offering inexpensive and sometimes free performances (Teatro Lido) every week. Here are a few of the more well known and popular theaters. A schedule of events can be found on each website, though it is in Spanish.

If you have any more list. .Besides Mayo, SW's or Strip Clubs the nights are usually reserved for your "novia", house party's, regular girls or putas you made contact with earlier or from prior trips. BUT take a step back before you spill your beans. Who are you really talking too? Do you really know? Do you have to show your hand to everybody or other gringos just because they are gringos and perceived to be your friends? FUCK THAT, this hobby is full of backstabbing scumbags who would not waste one second thinking about throwing you under the bus to make them look good or to save face. These are sad desperate people in need of plenty of attention that is lacking in their home countries.
In Colombia if I do happen to stumble upon some gringos that feel the need to chat me up, of course I try to be as civil and helpful as possible I'm not an asshole but I don't give up any personal information and NOT EVEN my real name. LOL.
Now I'm sure there are some honest and true stories from mongers about how they met some great other gringo mongers and now they are lifelong mongering partners BUT on the flipside you will read just as many spats and flame wars from gringo mongers throwing each other under the bus and talking shit about each other to other chicas and mongers or whoever will listen (which I feel is the lowest of the low) some true, some lies, and mixes of the truth and lies, who know for sure? I travel solo and enjoy it, and keep to myself, out of safety reasons.
When trouble pops off, I know I am looking for the first exit, don't know about the guy I have befriended or talked with, ready to challenge the bar and looking for me, his new friend to back him up.
I don't do the late night trolls and the clubs bore me, so it's just really me not boring some other guy that is looking for the things.
What this board has help me with is living accomodations, I like the high end and quiet places, and have avoided the frat house places by reading where guys are staying or avoiding.
I'm not a vet or newbie or really a monger, just a guy looking for a place to retire to.

Though I am a lone wolf and travel almost always solo, I have met a couple of cool guys during my travels that I consider close friends and that I now monger with a few times a year but not in Colombia. In Colombia all my friends are Colombian because for the most part I stay out of the gringo hot spots and my mongering buddies are too afraid to go to Colombia.
The recent posts don't convey the actual experience of being in Medellin. I went down from before Christmas to New Years and had a very good time. I stayed mostly at the Castillo, and spent afternoons drinking around the pool at the Mansion. I also spent some time in an apartment in Parque Lleras. I don't go to the casas, maybe I will one day, so I don't have any information about them. I did have a very good time at the Castillo-Mansion. At the Mansion, as you probably know, the custom is that the house invites some girls to hang out in the afternoon until some uncertain time in the evening. And you can invite your own girls also of course. There is a lady there, I think her name is Cindy, and her job is more or less managing the girls, that is, inviting them, and presumably she can fix you up too if you need her to. The Mansion activities in the afternoon were great fun. There were some stunningly attractive women. One guy, it was his first visit, and he had a date with a girl he had met on line, and he kept getting laid before the time for his date. And his sessions at the Mansion, according to him, were just great. So it just strikes me that there is all this analysis on the board, and the fact is that being there and getting laid by beautiful women is just so easy. We did the Chiva bus ride through the lights again this year, it was fantastic. I didn't go to Mango's for New Years, just opted out, it's a little too loud for me. But I did manage to get laid several times that Saturday. The analysis of the board is good, but buying a ticket and getting laid in Medellin is much better.

Went to Energy last might (carrera 74, #49-101). Had 5 chicas, all cute, none outstanding. Went w / JULIETA. 20 yo but looks younger. Braces. Petite, spinner type. Said it was her FIRST day. A few notes on non-pros: para ustedes que vivir in Medellin or who have tight colombian game, I was at Carrefour in Libertadores yesterday. Around 2:30 I went around the outside and my jaw dropped: about 30 girls who work in the place were eating lunch outside by the side entrance. I do want the vets on this forum to know I am inspired by reports of you guys picking up either regular girls and getting to know them and their social circle OR becoming friendly with the working girls, getting their #s, and then partying with them and their friends at your place. Now back to the chicas. I am glad you made it to La Mayorista again Mr. JG. Please share some reports.

Wed. Night the action was good on the Mayorista Strip. Saw a few new (6 to 7s) chicas, and most of the regulars except Porn Star.
Thursday was not so good. On a night like this I can see how a first time visitor could have a low impression of Mayo. I have not seen a Gringo yet, but in a few weeks I have some friends on their way. Always good to have people to pass time on the hunt.
The girls I have talked to still are charging 30k. Yes I know some guys pay 25K, but I have paid that price only a few times in the past.
I hear the Christmas lights are still up on the Rio so I might check them out. This way when the USA customs person asks me the purpose of my trip I can truthfully say " tourist " LOL.
I am not a fan of the Casas so I doubt I will go unless when my crew arrives then they will twist my arm, and force me to partake.

I want to clarify that I do not think Colombia is a third-world country, it is very much a developing second world country, with better roads (and cleaner metro) than a lot of my hometown of NYC. I used "3rd world country" in my last report because of what the courtyard looked like in Shannon. So please don't read that one phrase and post an angry reply saying that I disrespected Colombia. I stay here whenever I feel I want to bang more chicas from the casas than the non-pros. It is very close to basically all the casas- within walking distance. One caution is that it is still in the 'danger zone' at night once the sun goes down.

I did DR for 3 years. Went to Colombia and haven't look back. Sure BBBJ is a given. Don't even have to ask. But the quality of the chicas is so different. Price wise, Sosua is about the same as the mid level places. But can't beat the price of the casas in Medellin. The only thing is, I don't see many chicas I like at Classicos. I end up going out to Puerta Plata (Cristals, El Bohen). Where it's almost double the price of Sosua. I thought I would miss the beach. But oh well. I'll sacrifice.Classicos reminds me of The Del Rey in CR lot of hardcores, not that some of the women in there aren't gorgeous, but I had my fill of 10's who just aren't worth it-aside from that I love the Haitian girls-they are just so nice and accomadating-I guess they appreciate their being able to stay in the DR-I'm hoping Colombia babes will make me forget the beach too-And from the posts I read they might make me forget my flight back to the States.
it has rained a little both nights.I now truly believe the geography of La Mayorista, and Itagui in general, has something to do with the rain. It seems to rain more here than any other part of Medellin. My girlfriend from Guarne recently told me that there have been nothing but sunshine for 3 straight weeks. Beautiful day where she lives everyday.

I've seen more of Colombia than most people, it is 3rd world, at times 4th world, believe me, its still at war.
When you stop off at a village on the Rio Atrato and theres 5 military gunboats with 5 x 50 calibar machine guns on board (maybe a different size, dont remember exact) each one, makes you think.
I asked one of the soldiers, seen much action lately, his reply was "sempre"

Second world is not a viable term, it's not tiered like 1-2-3. This is basic stuff, people.
In any case, yes, Colombia is still a developing nation but you have to like the pace it's developing at for the most part.
Yes, there is still a good deal of poverty and violence, but the quality of life for many people in a wide range of situations and locations has improved considerably.
Even ten to fifteen years ago, the guerilla / paramilitary violence was overwhelming in many areas. There was no definitive allegiances or morality. Things are far from perfect today, but they have gotten better.

Hello, all.
I miss the meaning of someone looking "fruity" (sorry, it's my limited capacity as English speaker) , so I have missed also all the fun of the last 10 pages of the MDE Forum.
I humbly ask to be back speaking about pus*sy, if possible. This is a topic I understand well, instead.
So, sorry if I insist, but any kind soul among the most experienced Medellin visitors would suggest me where to go for some P4P at night in Medellin? Thanks a lot to Hillbilly69 and his very detailed summary, but that was mainly about non P4P: clubs, discos, bars. Where good girls hang out at night. I will use that info, sure, but I also need to know where to go looking for "bad girls" :P.
I know only Mayo, El Raudal, Phase II. Any other place?
