It is a little hard to absorb for a first timer but the talent and prices are hard to beat, I live in Medellin and this was a vacation wonderland for me if that says anything, I have some good contacts for places to stay and drivers etc. Give me a PM if you plan a trip. I am planning a return visit, this was Heaven for me, better than Colombia in some ways and difficult to compare in others, for example, street address do not exist, they give direction by landmarks, oh yeah, this is third world at its best, Safest city in Central America on the USA govt site travel site, who would have known, The Nica Chicas are hotter than Colombians as the arent jaded and short timers in the trade are everywhere, I fellin Love 5 times in 5 days, I love them all, oh well my 2 cents are over, if you haven't been give it a try! You may be pleasantly surprised.

Well, this tread has been kida dead lately, not much as for information or prices goes. The theme still is price is on the rise exchange rate is bad, and "BIG MONEY GUYS" or whatever have made there effect, there is still plenty of action here, but the foriegn invasion and domestic speculation has taken its toll, high multas, high prices. I now hold Medellin as my home instead of a place to party or enjoy monger activities, I am planning a vacation to venezula or maybe Central America now.
Well we are up and ready to get out of here. So we caught a taxi for 30 Soles and arrived with plenty of time. They had a nice foodcourt and I boarded on time and clear customs real fast in Medellin. There were no busses in site so we shared a white taxi for 12,000 a person. I checked in and grabbed the metro.
I arrived at Latinas, saw 5 chicas all new, moved onto the new Athenas, which has a bar and a jaccuzzi and they had 5 chicas as well. I choose 1 and was shorted in my time so I may pass on this place. Continued onto Sexi where they had 13 chicas and I had a 2 for 1 for 50,000. Real sweet. All but one was new.
As I was leaving one of the chicas was as well and I shared a cab with her. I had my hands all over her. You do whatever for a free ride I guess.
We had dinner in Laurelas then called Fernando to pick us up. We hit Mayorista twice, once at 10 and then at 11:30. At 11:30 there were many chicas out and about and I saw 4 that I wanted but we were tired from the travel so we called it a night.

Angie and Michelle came by at 9, I took them both and afterwards the four og us had breakfast in the hotel. We walked around and saw that they were setting up for the parade so I snapped some pictures then we took the metro to centro and checked out Latina, Athena, New Life, Bell suite, Venus, Massage 55 and Sexy. At Sexy I choose Sandra again for a 1 on 1 session.
The streets here are opacked so we decided to walk a few blocks to a mall with a foodcourt but it was packed as well, so we headed to a taxi for Parc Llaras and while walking saw three interesting chicas and chatted with them. They said they would meet up with us but the park was crowded as well.

I took a number and we headed to Bello to see what was going on there in the stripclubs but there was nothing at all so back to San Diego and onto Club International. They know that with the Colombia Forum (and other forums which they have attempted to destroy) on full moderation, that they cannot post overtly negative "reports" about Colombia, so they have changed tactics by posting overtly negative "reports" about Latin America.
Not on my watch.

Having been to Venezuela I cannot recommend it due to safety, and now, cost issues. Medellin is a fantastic place - look at Malodr's and Tung's reports. But, it cannot compare to the mongering infrastructure in Thailand and the Phillipines.

WMB774When you exit out of the building after picking up your luggage, make a left and pass the taxi drivers and enter the glass doors on your left and go up the stairs to the departure area. There are a couple of ATM machinces right there. You can go back down and catch a cab or the bus.

It's not dangerous at all during the day ! Most likely David Smash thought I took them at night because he does not have them yet ! It would be a little trickier at night since there are 50-100 girls linning the wall, most of whom don't like their pictures taken because they have families and normal lifes in another area of the city ! It might start a riot or you may have 100 women trying to take your camera !

Anyone bothering to read the following report might benefit from some limited information about its author. I'm a married, 51 year old monger whose mid-life crisis has manifest itself with a series of low-budget, solo travel adventures to third-world countries in the Carribean, Central America and South America. This report is about my short trip to Medellin, Colombia.
Although Medellin has literally dozens of neighborhoods, my adventure was limited to just three of them; Poblado, Laureles and el Centro.
My first two nights, I stayed the Tiger Paw Hostal in Poblado. For $65 COP per night (about $37USD at current exchange rate). I reserved a private room with private bath. I'd guess that about half the rooms there were private singles (with and without private baths), and half were more traditional dorm-style hostel rooms. I was impressed with my room, and the only thing not to my liking was that there was only one window. Which opened to the lobby area (so no natural light or fresh air. And little less privacy than I prefer).
The neighborhood felt safe, and the place was immaculate (and since it opened pretty recently, the furnishings are all virtually brand new). There's free Wi-Fi, a small bar, a couple TVs, and pool table in the lobby/common area. It's owned and operated by a guy from North Carolina named Brian. I made reservations via email, and Brian's responses were prompt and thorough.
While staying at Tiger Paw, I checked out two other parts of Medellin. Hoping to find a slight more "authentic" experience. I checked out Laureles first, then el Centro.
Laureles struck me as an as-yet-discovered (by gringos) version of Poblado. The main street (Calle 70) is packed with restaurants, bars, and mid-priced hotels. And in Laureles the lodging, shopping and nightlife is remarkably near the Metro station (in Poblado, it seemed a bit of a hike). Laureles felt quite clean and safe, and overall. And prices seemed a bit lower than in Poblado. The hotels I visited along Calle 70 all quoted rates in the $35-70USD per night range.
Now to el Centro, where I chose to spend the remaining three nights of my five night adventure. As a first time visitor to Medellin, I departed the Parque Berrio Metro station with a mix of fear and excitement. But within minutes, I knew I'd like el Centro. Yes, it's noisy, crowded, and smoggy. But I didn't see the switchblade-wielding thugs at every corner that so many guidebooks and forum posters had warned of. Instead, I saw a center city full of proud people, making a living, and eager to assist an inquisitive foreigner (especially one at least willing to try communicating in their native language).
But if you don't choose el Centro for its history and authenticity, choose it for it's value.
A friend had suggested I check out the Hotel Latino (Carerra 47 #49A-22, PBX: 511 61 88). This address puts the hotel about three short blocks from the Parque Berrio Metro station. From the outside, it looked a bit threatening. But I walked up the street-level stairs to the second story lobby, and asked about rates. I was quoted $25k COP per night (about $15 USD at today's conversion rate). At that rate, I was almost afraid to ask to see a room. But I did, and was shown an immaculate, spacious room with a CD player, cable TV with remote (w/ USA cable networks), a window, private bath (with hot water). I stopped my hotel search immediately.
The next day, I checked into a fourth floor room (no elevator, whew! ) equally as nice as the one I was shown the day before. Now at that kind of rate, I would not have been shocked if a junkie and/or prostitute was among my neighbors, but this was not the case. My fellow guests were just normal folks, most of whom appeared to be in Medellin to do legitimate business (but without generous expense accounts). The Hotel Latino staff was very accommodating, but I doubt that anyone there spoke more than a word or two of English.
But please, don't head for the Hotel Latino expecting a Holiday Inn/Hilton experience. It's an old, well-worn hotel in a slightly dodgy neighborhood. If these attributes worry you, or if you need a quiet room for a good night's sleep, stay elsewhere.
To expand upon el Cento's value, everything seemed to cost less there. Every cab there seemed to use the meter (a sure cure for preventing those dreaded gringo rates). I found decent breakfasts and lunches for less than $3k COP (under $2 USD) and three-course dinners for about twice that amount. And while I'm not much of a drinker, I often use the price of a bottled native beer as an economic index of sorts. And the price of a Pilsen at the neighborhood bar closest to the Hotel Latino. A whopping $1, 300 COP (think 85 cent US).
For the adventurous, budget, solo traveler, el Centro was great. The only downside exists only for the hopelessly internet addicted (meaning yours truly). Despite countless inquiries and constantly scanning for "Wi-Fi" signs in hotel and restaurant windows, I found not a single Wi-Fi hot spot in el Centro. So I ended up in a 24-hour internet cafe/international call center 2-3 times a day, at about $1, 000 pesos per visit. But hey, a guy's have to keep connected, right?
Speaking of value, el Centro seems to be where Paisas (a term those from the Medellin region use to describe themselves) go to buy everyday stuff. Souvenirs were virtually nonexistent, but for meat, fresh produce, fish, pots & pans, eyeglasses, and underwear. It's all there, and it's all pretty darn cheap. This is not the place to find high-end, high fashion stuff; unless you're seeking dirt-cheap counterfeit handbags and sunglasses. Which seemed to fill every sidewalk.
So what does one do when staying in el Centro? Bring comfortable shoes, and learn the carerra/calle numbered street system quickly. The area's full of parks and plazas surrounded by street vendors. So bring sunglasses and a good novel. Oh, and leave the iPod at home, because the sounds of the center city are more entertaining, enlightening, and rewarding than any Grammy-winning recording.
"What about the women? " you're wondering. I visited 6-8 Centro casas, and took terrible notes. There's little I can add other than to say thanks to Tung's in depth reporting (and this site's Centro Casa Map), I was able to hit a couple a day for 30-45 minute sessions. Prices were almost always around 30K (COP) for 30 minutes, 45K (COP) for 45 minutes, and so forth. An exceptional value. And a great time.

Laureles struck me as an as-yet-discovered (by gringos) version of Poblado. The main street (Calle 70) is packed with restaurants, bars, and mid-priced hotels. And in Laureles the lodging, shopping and nightlife is remarkably near the Metro station (in Poblado, it seemed a bit of a hike). Laureles felt quite clean and safe, and overall. And prices seemed a bit lower than in Poblado. The hotels I visited along Calle 70 all quoted rates in the $35-70USD per night range.Twenty years ago Laureles was the best area in Medellín. Poblado has now taken that title.

I had a little experience with MDE scene so far and will have a few more days to go here. I will review my experience and ask for help for one specific question.
I visited the centro casas and strip clubs with Tung's map, which is acturate 80% of time. A few could have been closed. Strip clubs are certainly not to my liking. They are dark and usually with not so attractive chicas. The darkness could make you mistaken some uglies as decent lookings.
Among the casas, I found three attractive enough in New Life and one in Bell Suite. Otherwise the quality is so so and I would not spend money to do them. Of course quality could be changing every day in each place, as mentioned frequently by the veterans here. Given the price, one can sample as much as he wants as long as he has enough energy. There are some increases in prices, but it is still minimum, especially given the appreciating USD, which should have more runs to go.
You can ride Metro to centro and it is the most conveient. You absorb less pollution too because it is pretty clean. Taxi is also very cheap. Walking in centro is fine. I was a little tight on my nerves, but it was all fine. Just be aware of surroundings. If you need a break between sessions, drop by any small cafe, many with not so many clients in the afternoon, order some food or drinks. No one will pay that much attention to you. The only thing that I hate, maybe all around MDE (not just in Centro), is the pollution from exhausts and construction. Problado is no exception. The rain helps a bit to curb the pollution.
Spanish is a must to have fun here. But I almost do not know any Spanish and I can get by. When confused, hop in a taxi and it is dirty cheap, though it may take longer for you to move around given the traffic.
I also had some experience with one street chica around San Diego mall. I paid 100k for a few hours at my apt, she was median in appearance but pretty open to everything in bed. I do not ask for bare back and she does not do greek. Given the performance, these girls seem to be fine (be careful to avoid the aggresive ones), but it is not some one that I would walk with outside. You can get a few basic words of Spanish from places like freetranslation.com and then negotiate with them in a taxi using a pen and a piece of paper.
The other experience is the prepagos introduced by taxi drivers. I hope they are not chicas working in casas who pick up some extras during the night. But I do not know. The appearance is better on average but not necessarily better than the three that I saw in Centro casas. (In terms of appearance, I would say I would still prefer the Germany FKK experience to the girls in MDE and no hassle standard price and performance is unbeatable.) They ask for 150k-200k for 2-3 hours (I do not need them to stay the whole night). You do not have to know Spanish again, because you can get by mostly with some exchanges of typings in freetranslation.com (I brought my laptop). I have enough money to care less for the above amount but I do not want to overpay to appear stupid, especially these chicas are likely the ones who do not use the money to feed their kids and family but just their fantasies of being relatively rich without much hard work. I wonder if the veteran here could give me some guidance what's the right price and what's the best way to find chicas to come to my apt during the 8pm-12am time segment??????? Please remember I do not know Spanish. The sooner the answers, the better, given the few days left for me here.

BTW, strongly recommend one thing to do in MDE. The paragliding here is cheap and fun. If you have not tried before, you should do it. It is very safe and smooth, you can choose not to do the spiral diving. You do not have to be a brave one to do it. On weekdays, the guide also fly to Santa Fe with a trip of about 2 hours and less than 100 USD. Short of doing solo, that is a great experience, and there is no pollution around you. Everything is reasonably cheap. Learning it takes less than 10 days and about 500 USD.

In my opinion your primary disability would be your lack of speaking the language.
As the Rainman posted, and I agree totally, quite a few of these casa chicas will meet up with you after their shift because they do like you.

I have done that before, gave a woman looking through the garbage in Cuba $20, it made her day. She wasn't pretty just someone who got a raw deal and wasn't asking for money. ANYONE who has dealt with professional chicas for even a short period of time has come across some bad apples in their adventures.
Always treat these chicas with kindness, it'll pay off for sure, however, you can't be a stupid schmuck either.
There will be chicas in this line of business who are hardened tiburonas (sharks).
Through experience you learn to weed these chicas out during your selection process, however, sometimes they can be quite deceiving and may slip thru the radar.
The vast majority of working chicas that I've dealt with, irregardless of the city or country, have been sweet and I've had great fun with them, and have more than taken care of them as well.
I do not and will not, however, reward anyone for lies and deception.
That would be plain ridiculous.

Now in the divorce she has hidden all the marital assests and rumor has it remarried though we are yet to divorce. I've been following this, and Code Pink reminds me of FlyOnTheWall who used to be on the Nana Plaza board. Fly took on anyone whose agenda he disagreed with, and would go around and around. You could try to make a calm, reasoned response, and he would just say the same things over and over. I came to realize that he was not only wasting his own time and effort, but manipulating me into wasting mine. People who are disagreeable and self righteous can not be reasoned with. i have been in medellin for two days and so far i have been to loutron, fase dos and energy.
at loutron, the facilities were great but the service was terrible. a girl who avoided looking at me and was frigid in bed. she looked very nice but left me feeling terrible.

In my opinion, the de greiff/parque de bolivar area of MDE is way underrated. Sure, it's totally hit and miss but there are some real gems to be had. It can be hard to get chicas back to your hotel (assuming you're also staying in the center) but once you do their performance gets much better. There are so many options that I rarely make it out to Mayorista in Itagui during my stays in MDE. Below are photos of Yohanna who can be found sometimes across the street from El Faro Bar. I've known her for a few years now. She has some flaws yet she is cool to chill with and is invaluable for her ability to connect you with more like-minded chicas.
Around 1 am a few weeks ago I was doing my thing in de greiff when I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a cop who summoned me over to his van. I expected the worse. A late night club has opened in El Bosque called La Gruta del Hierro. It's down the street from a love motel of the same name. Most young taxistas will know it. Chicas start arriving around 2:30 am and by 3:30 am there are 20-30. Pilsens are 5, 000 and on-site service goes for no less than 60, 000. The "salida" is between 10, 000 and 20, 000. This place is similar to La Manzana and not advisable for those who haven't spent considerable time in MDE.
Tung listed the Dali Hotel on one of his lists at Cra. 45 50-59. I thought this was a hotel that turns into a "casa" later in the night. On a Sunday night around 8 pm no chicas had arrived. Another night there was only 1 chica by 9 pm. I was quoted 40, 000 for 45 minutes. Later on I found out this is another "amanecedero", a good place to chill with chicas until dawn.
Someone needs to report on the substantial number of "casas" in Bello. Does anyone deny that Bello produces the greatest quantity of beautiful women in MDE?

I just returned from a short trip to Medellin. The first night I went between San Diego club and Fase Dos. Went to San Diego at around 8:00pm on Friday (Fase Dos doesn't open until after 9:00pm). I was pleasantly surprised to see better women than my previous visits. The drink prices are about half that of Fase Dos and there's no cover. For me, the show is also much better at San Diego. More lively with American music. They also have couches now around the stage. The only thing Fase Dos has better, in my opinion, is a higher % of 9's and 10's. Anyway, I left San Diego after about 1 hour so I could check-out Fase Dos.
They tried to not let me in Fase at 9:00pm, but I told them I didn't mind just drinking at the bar until the girls came. That was a good choice since I had the place to myself for about 30 minutes and got to see/chat with all the women as they came-in (I sat and drank just outside their dressing room).
At Fase, I ended up wasting a bunch of time and money with a new spinner (second night at Fase) who was a definite 10 in my book, but was extremely timid. I ended up buying her 4 shots to loosen her up and it had absolutely no effect. I decided to head back to San Diego at midnight.
It's not a long walk to San Diego, but I would not do it again at that time. There were around 20 street girls in small groups and I stopped for a few seconds to chat with one group and the others came and surrounded me. A couple of them started grabbing for my wallet (acting like they were trying to hug me).
Back at San Diego, absolutely packed. No seats anywhere. I grabbed the first hot girl and just took her to the back. She was outstanding. Only 100 Mil total? It seems like too little, but she kept repeating that's all she wanted.
I wolfed down some of those hot dogs outside San Diego (the best dogs I've had anywhere) and went back to the Holiday Inn Express, which by the way is a great hotel at a decent price ($85). It's a stones throw away (literally) from the Mansion. I did miss out on meeting other mongers by not staying at the mansion/castillo. If I were staying longer, I probably would prefer the mansion. For a quick trip, the Holiday Inn worked out great.
Sat night was more of the same. I mixed-in a visit to a regular club, but didn't get much attention from the women. They were mostly already with other guys.

You will have no problem, my last two trips to Medellin, I hung out with a black American, and actually an American from middle eastern background, and we never ran in to problems.
As always use common sense, you are visitor in a foreign country, do not get drunk, do laugh and have a good time (helps with the ladies), but not be obnoxious to draw attention to yourself. Know where you are, and be respectful of the local culture.
I always dress different when I am there. No shorts, or tennis shoes, unless I am at the hotel. I do not wear jeans out, usually dockers, a decent shirt, and just loafers. People still know I am a American, but I am certainly not flag waving, in my cowboy boots, and a tee-shirt with the American flag on it.
Also in the past if I met a lady I liked, and wanted to go out with her for the evening, I look at what she is wearing and will it draw attention to us at restaurant and club. If so a quick trip to the mall a few pesos for a casual outfit. It has more than paid for it self later that night, and once again it draws less attention to you from the locals.

As she is a very understanding girl, she proposed me to meet some of her friends, as I was telling in my reports.
Shortly before leaving Colombia, I even found her a job so she may try to live on something different than the P4P scene.

Even though I joined ISG formally not long ago, I have been a avide reader for a long while now. I have really enjoyed reading about everyones adventures as well as a few misfortinues in your travels.
It was great to see an e-mail from the Col B himself and know that he is well. I do hope I get the chance to meet him one day in my travels as well as a lot of others who's reports I have got a laugh from in the past couple of years. It does seem a lot of the bikering has slowed down on here which is a good thing. Let us all remember we are individuals with individual likes as well as dislikes and we should be able to agree to disagree at times. I have read some very unique reports on ISG that has helped me in my travels and I look forward to reading many more. My work sends me to 10 + countries in the past 4 years and Colombia has become a favorite for more reasons than I care to admit. Believe me, a lot of what I have read here on ISG has greatly increased my knowledge of "situations" that I may get myself into in all the countries I go to.

Looking for any information such as festivities and what days business will be quiet, if any.During the holiday season it is hit or miss from Dec 7th until the weekend following the 6th of Jan (especially Dec 7,8,24,25,31, Jan 1 and 6th). Because many families under one roof have family members receieving the year end bonus, there is a good deal of money floating around during this time and places of business have a really good month. As a result some women who have been working all year will take the opportunity to spend more time with their children who are not in school during this time, and to spend time blowing off steam, because the house has more money and food. These women have worked hard all year and might have no problem taking an week off or a weekend here or there to hit the finca of a friend.
On the flip side there may be others who are making up for a slow time prior, when they may have had a kid or some other problem. Or some are here but have family in other cities - they are just here to work. So those who need the money and will be working just about everyday throughout the whole time. But realize that some days could be feast or famine and nothing will be consistent. Note the dates above.
Christmas here is really special, moreso if you have a woman and family here, but not for mongering. I would not monger here during December/January and during Easter. The airfare is tremendous during those times as well and the bottom line is a lot of the really good girls (the ones who make great steady money because they are beautiful and awesome providers ) can afford to take some time off and what's working are the leftover slugs. One of the best providers I have ever met does not work during December. Ever. JMHO.

Posts in this forum roughly belong to two categories:
1) Those by people who like to go to "protected" places, built around the needs of the (mostly "gringo") tourist. Don't let me mention what places in particular, but basically you sit down, you have your room, the manager brings you girls.
2) Those by more adventurous people like the mithical Tungurahua, or Artisttyp who go to explore bars and streets everywhere - and when I say everywhere I really mean *everywhere* (read Tung's wonderful black-art posts; I'd like to see them published in a book, one day, collecting all his 2-year adventures in SA).
I do prefer cathegory 2). Even if I am not so experienced and tough to explore alone El Alto in La Paz, as Tung did many times, I dont refrain to see the seedy side of cities.
In Medellin, I had only 2-3 nights. I add my 2 cents, but I invite all to go reading Tung's posts, to learn about the street scene in this town. His posts match closely what I saw in my short time.
STREETS (AT NIGHT)
The area around Plaza Botero is the hell. If you go there at night, under the metro in particular, be ready to see the worse, included glue-sniffers. In nearby streets (be cautious), there is anything for any taste: TVs and girls, younger and older. This area is known to be VERY dangerous by the locals. I did not have problems, but I cannot guarantee for others. Just be cautious and dont stay alone in dark alleys.
In those streets where at day there is the market, many bars offer what we usually are not interested to: girls who invite you to drink to chat with them sit at a table. Best operating times: mostly after 6-7pm. You spend (3-5k for each drink) and you look the nice girl, chatting and chatting. If you like to do more, pay 40k for the "multa" (exit fee) plus the money to the girl.
I tried it once. I paid 7k for a couple of drinks (me + her) with an outstanding 18yo in miniskirt who I followed since when she exited from the metro. When I asked if she was available for a nice time in a hotel, she asked me 100k (!), plus the 40k multa. I politely laughed and I left. This price is insane.
All around the area, especially on Greiff, you can see ugly and sexy girls, from young to older. They gather in groups, especially in front of some bars.
Prices are cheap: from 10k (yes! but the ugliest or drug-addicts) to 25k.
I would not recommend to go there, if you are not prepared.
Much better, and safer, and more quiet, the area of bars at Mayorista. But Tung has already said everything about this. Read his posts for prices and impressions. Prices are cheap: 20-25k. I spent a nice half-hour in a good room with an *almost* GFE girl for 25k.

We had an incredibly hard time finding a lot of them by the addresses here. We never could find Ejectivo, Americana, or any of those strip clubs on called 53. Didn't matter though, there were hotties shopping everywhere in the surrounding areas.
We did manage to hit Fase Dos late one evening, and althought I didn't sample the goods I surely wish I did. I don't care about the price, those women are ridiculously fine and I will definitely have at least 2 when I return, probably next weekend.
We did managed to find Sexi Ladi and New life. And they were AWESOME.
We did nightcaps on Mayorista both nights, and needless to say it kinda sucked. The short time sex and pure businesslike screwing were a far cry from the great service at New Life. My partner even got hit with the "knock on the door every 3 minute scam" and we were warned by some local friends we had made to watch out wallets VERY closely while doing business in Mayorista. Supposedly the women will snatch money out of your pants if you hit the bathroom and leave them alone. Even for the price, Mayorista wasn't worth the grime and cost of the cab ride.
Can someone please confirm the location/directions to the Centro strip clubs? Also I would like to know if the girls at San Diego are on par with the girls from F2, because if so, I will definitely make it a point to get there.

1. go to plaza botero (where all the statues are) stand in front of the giant head and look across the street towards de greiff. you will see a huge vertical sign saying "conejitas". go down the stairs. it is located directly *under a hotel. i forgot the name sorry.
2. from the same position in plaza botero turn your head to the right and you will see a giant hotel with a half moon shaped driveway..that is hotel nutibarra. go around the corner (the street directly in back of the hotel) and walk across the street to the left hand side (opposite to the back entrance of nutibarra) walk up 1 or 2 blocks and you will see 1 or 2 bars with a barker outside. one is called america something and then there is another called las gatas not far from that. maybe a total of 3 on that block if i remember correctly.
if you think someplace is a strip club just walk in and take a peek. the barkers might try to seat you but a nice " voy a regresar" ( i will return) will do.
i agree with what you say about mayorista. i will try to take one back to my hotel vs session on site. i expect alot of no's but maybe something will work out.
question: very important
i am arriving at night around 10:45pm to medellin. will i be able to access an atm machine at that hour in the airport? i know where they are located but will they be running?

Here, I have seen some of the strongest scenes I remember during my night wanders. All seen well after midnight.
Scene 1
A homeless is looking for food in big black garbage bags, under the elevated metro 300m from the museum. He works in the darkness close to a pillar. He has opened one bag and all garbage is spread on floor. The garbage collectors come and literally kick him off, to take possession of the bag he is working on. They shout collecting the spread garbage from floor, damning him for the mess. The poor man desperately fights for the bag, holding it and resisting to those who want to take it. The bag is now what they are hard fighting for. Collectors finally win.
I better move away. Glue-sniffers seem not to pay attention to me while I slide close the wall. I look around and I wonder if it isn't time to go sleeping. Tomorrow I will have to wake up early, after all. I dive into the alleys perpendicular to the metro. Girls are waiting, but none attracts me. Other people stands up or walks around, with no apparent aim.
Hmmm, ah! This is the guy who sells glue bags! Sitting on floor close to a wall, he passes two black plastic bags to two poor souls. I wonder what is the price, but I don't think it's a good idea to inquiry.
Police is well present. Two couples on motorbikes go up and down the road, or stand up at a corner, looking around and keeping situation under control. This makes me feel safe enough, especially because I never saw a Colombian policeman behaving not correctly or trying to get some money from the tourist, contrary to other countries like Mexico or Panama. I like this country.
Scene 2
Walking around in my endless hunt for a girl that may turn me up. Loud noise, shouts, noise of fight came from somewhere on the other side of the road. Let me go to have a look. A man is beating hard a boy on the floor. Around, kids and other friends try to defend him, but they really have not enough strength to do anything. I understand later that the boy must have tried to robber or to steal something. The other is punishing him, or so he must think. I cannot do anything. I am really alien to this place. Can't help him, senseless on floor. The other keeps on beating and kicking him. I feel like a documentarist who observes wild life in its natural environment, and does not intervene if a lion catches a prey. However, I saw someone calling the police with a cell phone since the first second of the fight, so I hope they will come soon.
When police comes, they take the boy and put him on a van. I think he's guilty of stealing something. They do nothing to the beater.
After they take him and they go away, strong shouts again, between a man, some others, and the group of kids and friends of the boy. I observe from 50m, far enough to be not involved in the riot. The man runs back to his taxi. Ah! So he is a taxi driver!. Takes something, runs back and chase somebody else in the group trying to hit him with something in his hand. Oh shit! That's a knife! Big shouts, but no blood at the end. Good.
I prudently move away. I understand even more that minimal interaction with street people must be my basic rule to have no troubles here. I try to be invisible, but I am obviously not.
Scene 3
Did you ever try one of the cheap hotels there? You climb a long stair, some girl comes to open the gate with keys (always locked for safety). I tried twice, taking two girls from alleys that were looking surprisingly good, at least for the place. Maybe they were out of bars, where for higher price they offer their company. Price: 4k-5k for the room, 20k to the girl. Hmm. 4k must be my lowest price I ever paid for a room. This people is honest. They don't overcharge the foreigner. I am also given a smile and a little piece of soap. I always bring my condoms, which are more confortable and probably safer.
Two kids about 3-4yo play around in the corridor. They must be the sons of the hotel owner. Another working girl and regular guests of the hotel cross my way on the corridor, ignoring each other.
The room is basic, walls are dirty but looks Sheraton compared to the dirty hole I remember in the favourite place of Tung in Quito (3Stars), which I visited with some worry being my first steps in South America.
Time to leave, but the gate is closed. Nobody is there to open. I wait patiently for 15 minutes, then the girl comes back. She went to buy something outside and she locked everyone inside.
Ok, time to go. I tried also this. Next time more upscale, I promise to myself.

Supposedly the women will snatch money out of your pants if you hit the bathroom and leave them alone. Reminds me of a story a wg friend told me in SA. Her roommate would sometimes hide under the bed whilst she was servicing a john, then afterwards, whilst my friend was in the bathroom with him, the roommate would go though his wallet then do a runner.
Sometimes keeping on eye on her just isn't enough.
Does anyone know if the atm's at the medellin airport are up and running very late at night? I am arriving at 10:45pm.

I was in Barranquilla few years back with a friend and were hassled by a couple of moto cops. Detained us for over 40 minutes with stupid questions and threats of jail. A gift of 40.000COP set us free.

There may be 100's of different places to meet. It takes time to find what you like.

Just my two cents to add: I've always had that same favorable impression of the Colombian police ever since my first trip there and will approach them for advice or guidance if neccesary. Unlike say, in Mexico or the DR or, countless other places. That's not to say that they are universally honest bit definitely a cut above the aforementioned places.
I've even had Colombian cops befriend me in a genuine manner.

I am sure the ATM works 24h/24h! Why should it be switched off?
They work 24/24 in town, in streets, why not in the airport?
Worst case, you pay with dollars with wrong exchange rate, or you ask the doorman at the hotel to change for the taxi.

It's not specific to Medellin or even Colombia. All Spanish speakers use it this way.

Any ideas?I doubt that any driver would accept US dollars. The fare from the airport is 48K. You could bring a newspaper with the cambio rate printed, offer enough to cover that rate (usually 8-10% less than the Interbank rate), and add a tip and you could get a taker.
Another alternative would be to ask the taxista to take you to a safe ATM. La 70 in Laureles would be a good place to look if you are going that way. There are many 24-hour ATMs along la 70. And it is fairly safe especially when you have a cab waiting. Be sure to write down the taxi number while the taxista is watching. In fact you'd be better off calling a cab from the airport. You could just go out and look at the taxi line, write down a phone number of a cab there, and call that number.

Any ideas?Have a bit of respect for your low-wage taxista! Hit the ATM or exchange at the airport, or if that fails get pesos at the hotel.- they'll add it to your bill. But don't chuck a few bucks at the taxista without thinking of how he's going to get hit on the exchange. And even then if he needs the money for gas, food, or rent of the taxi itself.- which some nights will be more than he takes.- you could be causing him a real problem.
As a last resort change the dollars with a doorman at the hotel: they get them a bit more frequently and can change them without too much pain.
For your own safety though, if traveling alone, I would NOT stop the taxi at an ATM in the street and leave your luggage in the taxi.

Thank YouAs I said, dont worry. You'll find the ATM working 24/24. If not, you change at any ATM in city or at the hotel.
PS:
I remember I once saw a NorthEuropean guy in front of the ATM in a Colombia airport. He was claiming the ATM was not working properly. He told me that the ATM was giving only USD and not pesos, but he needed pesos to take a taxi.
I tried, and I got my pesos. I called him back and I showed him how to do.
Well, the problem was that he thought that the $ symbol stood for USD!!!!!!
Yes. The ATM was offering 100.000$, 200.000$, 300.000$, 400.000$. I confirm it was NOT 100.000 USD, 200.000 USD, 300.000 USD, 400.000 USD. ROFL Quite enough money for a short holiday.
The best and most easy thing to do, is just ask someone on the plane, you can always find someone that will give you and honest exchange on your flight, its worked every time for me.

So last trip I started hanging at Sexi alot cause they were running a special, 2 for 1 for an hour. These chicas enjoyed looking at my pictures and they wanted to get in my rotation but there are limited spots available. I have my morning chica whom i met in October 2007, and two night chicas that I met in april 2007 and November 2007.

BillTaxi! a normal, plain, regular licensed taxi from the airport line. Ask before how much does it cost, to be sure, but normally you will not be overcharged.
Want to be even more sure? Ask the Tourist information desk at arrivals about taxi fares.

There WAS a normal taxi line and I had no problem. It was 48,000 pesos, which i got before at the ATM upstairs at the airport.
So far so good in Medellin. It's a great city, great people, and incredible looking and friendly women. I'd be hard pressed to have to compare them to Lima, although they are quite different.
I'm staying at the Hotel Florida on La Setenta. Thanks so someone here who recommended it to me. Much better than where I stayed last time. El Poblado. This feels like the real Medellin.
I went to Blue (It's on the list. Blue something) yesterday. They had a line-up of five or six girls, four of them quite beautiful. I chose a young (20) spinner named Laura. I didn't like the braces but thankfully they didn't get in the way. Good technique. A little overly germ conscious, but otherwise her performance was stellar and I'd highly recommend her. She's a little timid, which I construed as aloofness at first, but she warmed up and things turned out great.
Went to a sleazy strip club last night with a ISG fellow, but didn't partake. I guess I'm at the age where it sounds good in theory. The idea of watching strippers and then being able to fuck them. This town really grows on one. The people and weather and WOMEN are great. I walked over today from my hotel, the Florida on La Setenta (highly recommended) to Energia, on CRA. 74, 49-101. It's about a twenty minute walk from here past the metro and through the park with the soccer stadium. I stopped to watch the skateboarders for awhile. Pretty cool stuff.
At Energia there were 8 women, all over 7 and at least half over 8. Very impressive! I picked a young spinner (yes, that's what I like) named Angie. It turned out to be a good choice and she was a real firecracker. Only thing I didn't like (once again) was the insistance on condom oral. Is this non-negotiable here or what?

My mate who always has his wits about him got cleaned up the other night. He was completely off tap, took two chicks home and was doing his best to watch them all the time. He is very careful.
Anyway when they left he made one of them empty their pockets and found his ipod, unfortunately the taxi was telling them to hurry up and they did the bolt. He later discovered they emptied his jeans pockets of all his money.

"La Setenta" is like Broadway in NYC, everyone knows where it is. Try walking around the backstreets and eating the Menu of the day, only 6,000 pesos. Its great. There must be about 100 restaurants to eat at.
I made a date to meet with her at my hotel tomorrow. Guys, always bring a pen with you to these places. I defintely cannot understand some people's attractions to the strip clubs and other girl bars. I just love the luxury of going to a nice clean casa, choosing who I want, no bullshit, no upsale, no hassle and I've almost always had a good time. Not so with other places. But I'm just sharing my opinion. This isn't meant as a criticism. Different strokes for different folks.
It being Sunday not much was open. I had a late breakfast, took the new cable car way up high to Aurora and enjoyed the fabulous views, and paid a visit to Pablo Escobar's grave. Having studied his life and death some I was interested in seeing it. It contains several family members, is huge, and right next to the chapel. What else distinguished it was that it was the only plot I could see (and there were many) that had no flowers on it, just overgrown grass. Now please accept my apology for that non-sexual and perhaps not so interesting content.

Try Casandras. Take a left when you exit your hotel. Walk around 4 blocks to the first light (San Juan or 44). Go across the street then go left for a block or two. Go right for almost a block and Casandra's is on the left (cra. 68A #43-16). They open around noon.
By the way, most days once is enough for me. I even like a day off here and there. But then I live here 8 months a year. And my novia of 4 years can't get enough. Problems, problems, problems.
Try the coffee at Mi Buńelo across the street from your hotel. Some friends of my novia's brother own that little ice cream place just toward San Juan.

I head back in a few weeks. I usually pay 100,000 for all night and 50,000 for the day session. I am in Laurelas so they train it over and they pay their own transportation. Many times I´ve been with a girl in a casa and wanted to make a date with her for another time outside the house, and she agreed. But because neither of us had a goddamn pen we couldn´t exchange numbers, and she is forbidden from having or asking for a pen and from making outside dates. Is there anything unclear about that? So I am very careful to bring a pen with me wherever I go.

Since my first night I plan to party with at least 2 or 3 girls, can anyone recommend a motel near the area? Would love to see one of those that have jacuzzi, disco lights adult channels and maybe a indoor pool. Someone mentioned to go to the La Estrella sector but I am being told that area is about 30 min from Lleras. Any options you can addvise?

Depending on how much you want to spend (no pun intended), you can get the variety you wish.
I'm sure there are more motels with those facilities, so, other members be my guest.

There is no way I am giving them 20,000 each vish for a taxi to see me. I give them 50,000, they pay the train, they pocket of 45,000 and they only waste 3-4 hours of their day with me. Sometimes we get a meal or see a movie. By the end of my 30 days, I had about 25 chicas that wanted to come over. I had my pen with me at all times.
