From the USA, you have to give the ten dollar tourist card after you pass through customs, in the airport in Dominican Republic, after you have had your passport checked. They have a booth before customs, that sells the tourist cards, if you are in the back of the plane, the line will probably be long, when you get to the booth. The tourist cards can also be purchased I believe at the Dominican Consulate and/or Embassy in the States. I know my friend visited a Dominican government office in New York City and purchased tourist cards. The last time I was in the Dominican they only allowed me to purchase one tourist card, which is retarded, because I would have liked to have purchased several, so that on my return trips I wouldn't have to wait in line to buy the tourist card in the airport. On a past trip, I used an older tourist card, that I had, that was purchased many months before in New York and I guess the guy who took the card noticed that it had an older date, I just told him that I purchased in the States and I went through no problem. Also have a pen with you, as you will be required to fill out at least one form when entering the Dom. Rep., the form asks for your address, where you will be staying in the Dom Rep, as well as flight numbers. You fill out this same form when leaving the Dom. Rep.

The taxes included in most airline tickets from New York to the Dominican Republican are about 126 dollars, add to this the ten dollar tourist card (which is a tax) and the taxes just to enter the Dominican Republic from New York are about 136 dollars. Most larger hotels in the Dominican Republican charge a 26% tax. Appears the all inclusive hotels are exempt from the 26% tax. The smaller hotels, I guess, include it in their price. I read on the Hilton Hotel Santo Domingo website: An additional 10% is charged to all services provided at the hotel as mandatory legal tip. A US $30 visitor's fee applies upon check-in for non-registered guests.

I have flown into Santiago Airport twice and I don't like that airport. When I went through customs, they had a large stack of papers with names printed on them and the person at customs went through the papers to see if my name was there. There was a long wait for my luggage at the Santiago Airport and when I finally got my luggage I had to go and wait in another long line. The other line was for the one x-ray machine they had near the exit. When I was there, the Santiago Airport had every passenger put their luggage through the x-ray machine before they could leave the airport, this happened about 4 years ago. I never flew into Santiago Airport after that. I don't remember any duty free shops at the Santiago Airport (sti). When I was leaving, they have an x-ray machine before checkin, I passed my luggage through the curbside x-ray machine and then I was directed to another line, where I had to wait to have my luggage searched, the problem was spray can of disinfectant, which contained no bleach (this was for checked luggage). I was traveling with my elderly father and he had gotten sick before (pnuemonia) in the Dom Rep, so I brought the disinfectant for the hotel room, used it in the bathroom as well as the air conditiong units (surface ducts and on some units the filters can be real dirty). I had to wait in line to have my luggage searched, before I could check in, because I had a spray can of disinfectant in my checked luggage.

The airport has been improved over the past year. I've been thru there a dozen times and get waved thru cusatoms about half the time. Getting your bags is still slow but they now have two x-ray machines. I also like the immigration here as they move folks thru two at a time. Much faster than POP.

I just watched a video on ireport.com, cnn supposedly runs ireport. Shows a Domincan guy chopping off the hands of a Haitian guy. Graphic video. There are some bad dudes in the Dominican Republic. Obviously not chica related, but just a demonstration of how some Dominicans feel about Haitians.

In Puerto Plata generally the chicas are darker. Santiago has more light skin chicas. I have met a few non-pro chicas online who live in Puerto Plata. I have not really hung out at night in local places in Puerto Plata. Some of the working girls in Sosua live in Puerto Plata. There are all shapes, sizes and colors of chicas in Puerto Plata. However if your preference is lighter skin non-pros then Santiago or Santo Domingo has more.

Puerto Plata is a busy little city. Lots of cars, buses, motoconchos and trucks. If you were to arrive in Puerto Plata and just try to hook up with non-pros, it could be done, may not be super easy, but with enough effort anything is possible. I usually try to meet a few online that I can develop a rapport with, before I go. Puerto Plata would not be my number one destination to try and hook up with non-pros. There is a greater selection of chicas in Santiago and Santo Domingo.

And even if you hook up with non-pros, more than likely most will have some sob story, involving their bad economic condition, in which case they will be sending you the message that they want you to give them money.

From your post I imagine you want low cost, attractive, light skin, freaky chicas. I doubt you will find many like that walking the streets of Puerto Plata. You might have more luck finding that type of chica in Santiago or Santo Domingo.Hey Jaosousa,

Thanks for the info.

I would really like to go to santiago one day. It seems like non-pro prospects will be much harder and I am someone that doesn't have much "game" with women in the US or Europe and I understand you need alot of game in Santiago if you want to get laid with the non-pros. Also santiago it seems is a place where alot of folks have money. So us gringos are not really required down there.

I will definately go there in feb or March.

Thanks

ThanksYou can do non-pros in DR, you don't need great game, my suggestion is to try and meet them online before you go. Chat with them online before you go and you have very good chances of having sex with some of them. Additionally, there is a blurry line between what is a pro and a non-pro. Some girls may not be hardcore pros who survive only by being putas, but some girls may on occasion have sex with a guy and expect money. There are some really poor parts of santiago, not all chicas in santiago are rich. If you are nice and treat them them o. K. You can do non-pros in Santiago. Generally the dating scene is much cheaper in the Dominican Republic. And remember there are always working girls in Sosua who come in from Santiago. Just like here there are all types of chicas in Dominican Republican, some who are very serious that would not have sex with a guy even if he was Brad Pitt. Chicas in Dominican Republic run the whole gamut, from very serious to others who are very easy.

Wow. Sick stuff.

Have any black Americans ever been attacked in DR because someone thought they were Haitian? It is a real nasty video, poor naked haitian guy in a field, when the video starts one of his hands has already been chopped off. The dominican guy tells him to put down the other hand or he will chop his head off. The Haitian guy puts his hand on a rock and looks away, then the dominican chops off the hand with the machete. The haitian then runs away with no hands. You can see the face of the Dominican guy in the video.

MIA does it to everyone on certain flights. I have returned from DR and everyone had their bags X-rayed. Same with Brazil and Colombia. The US is looking for tropical fruits that may have bugs that could hurt Florida's citrus industry.

I have no idea why DR would need the same procedure. Maybe they have a reciprocity policy with the US? LOL

http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-160654I am not an expert in accents either so I definitely don't know, but I doubt very much that the Dominican Ambassador would readily acknowledge it, no more than a Haitian ambassador might under similar murky circumstances.

What is interesting is how defensive and in denial many Dominicans are when you raise these questions -- almost like Turkish people denying the Armenian genocide. (Google river massacre / parsley massacre)

What I want to know is, if I'm traveling with someone black and he isn't clearly America -- if we venture off the beaten path will he be attacked?

The haitians speak creole and generally the poorer haitians will not have the same type of clothes as a foreigner. The dominicans can tell who are the haitians. And many haitians live throughout the Dominican Republic and generally they are not beaten up. But as many have said throughout these boards, you have to watch your back, no matter who you are. I have travelled throughout the island and never had any violence with any dominican guys.

Sosua has a Synagogue because a former dictator of Dom Rep, allowed into Sosua, a number of Jews who were escaping Nazi Germany, the dictator was paid for each Jew that he allowed into the country. Xray machines in Santiago is no big deal. I go in and out of there all the time. Many times they just wave people through with no xray. In San Jose Costa Rica they xray everything also. It is fast and I like it better that Puerto Plata where they always open my bags and look around. It always takes more time. At least with the xray you are in and out in no time.

The answer to your question is NO. A big NO. In fact, the only time I have seen a Haitian get worked on by the Dominicans is when he was suspected of doing something. But, the also goes for Dominican Tigres that are doing foul stuff in the street.

Now the question should be, "What did this dude do that had him sitting there butt naked getting his hands cut off. Also, I am pretty sure that if someone was about to cut my hand off they would be holding me or I would be on the ground dead already from them having to shot me.

The short answer is no, if you are black you will blend in better than if you are white. If you are very dark skinned you may notice some more subtle racism - especially if people haven't placed you as a black gringo. The whole nature of racism is different. In the US there is, based on our history, "one drop" racism where if you have a drop of African blood you are black. In the DR and SA every little gradation of skin color nose shape and hair type is noted and labeled. Most Dominicans have some African ancestry and likely a majority would qualify in America as black.

Not in the DR

Last week the Spanish EFE press agency reported an incident in which it mentions that a Dominican supposedly amputated a Haitian man's hands. The video is being distributed in an email claiming that this was an example of the violence against Haitians in the DR.

But a closer examination of the video makes it obvious that this had not happened in the DR, says journalist Fausto Rosario Adames of Clave who observes that the people featured were speaking in a South American, probably a Colombian accent, and were clearly not Dominican.

El Caribe newspaper concurs that there is something fishy about the emails claiming that the video portrays an incident in a rural part of the country, and that the person with the machete is Dominican and the victim Haitian.

The Haitian ambassador in the DR visited the Police, demanded an explanation and the National Police denied that the video had been filmed here.

Police Chief Major General Rafael Guillermo Guzman Fermin said that it is an old video and the people portrayed are neither Dominican nor Haitian. Nevertheless, the 30-second video seeks to give the impression that a Dominican had cut off a Haitian's hand.

"And as expected, the protest voices of the so-called defenders of Haitian rights, have come forth and those who see in this a strategy of political pressure, and a new intent to discredit the country in the eyes of the international community," comments El Caribe. The newspaper calls for an investigation and laments that an unproven incident now is being used as proof to cause a rift between two sister countries. El Caribe urges the authorities to work together to stop unscrupulous people motivated by perverse interests from succeeding in ruining the coexistence based on mutual respect, harmony and solidarity.

Meanwhile, Diario Libre says, "If one wanted proof, there it is, that there are sectors interested in fueling the flame of a conflict between Dominicans and Haitians," concludes Diario Libre in a page two editorial.

I just want to add a bit to this history.

The island of Hispaniola was controlled by the French is in the east and the Spanish in the west. They both enslaved Aficans. In 1799, the slaves in the French part revolted. They successfully expelled the French in 1804. That became Haiti. The Spanish still ruled their part. The Haitians felt that their security weas jeopardized by having a hostile slave nation on its border. They invaded the Spanish part and defeated the Spanish. They liberated the slaves in the Dominican Republic but ruled over them. This was around 1810-15.

With US help, the Spanish reinvaded the island. The US also offered the French help in re-enslavng the Haitians but they declined and abandoned their colony. In the 1840's the Spanish succeeded in pushing the Hatians back to their part of the island and re-enslaved the Dominicans. Part of the strategy to defeat the Haitians was convincing the Dominicans that the Haitians were devils and and they would go to hell if they helped the Haitians.

During WWI, the US was concerned that German subs would capture Caribbean islands. They occupied the island of Hispaniola from 1914 through 1925. Then the US installed puppet dictators in both countries. Trujillo was the dictator of the DR until his assassination in 1961. "Papa Doc" Duvalier was the dictator of Haiti until his son took over in the 1970's.

Trujillo was a real piece of work. I have heard that he had a bounty on Haitians who tried to enter and live in the DR. I was told that Duvalier would pay Trujillo for returning run away Haitians back to Haiti.

Grant of the United States wanted to make the Dominican Republic a state, after the Civil War and send former slaves in the United States to the Dominican Republic. After the Civil War the United States government could not protect the newly freed slaves in the South. This is where the idea of turning the Dominican Republic into a state and sending the freed slaves there came up. Supposedly Congress blocked this idea.

Trujillo built the Jaragua Hotel and Casino in Santo Domingo. The beginning of the end for Trujillo came when he had three sisters murdered. The story was made into a movie with Salma Hayek, "In the Time of the Butterflies".

How easy would it be to bring 10 (cheap) mp3 players (gifts for the chicas) through dominican customs. I heard that they can charge you more than the item may be worth. Is there a list of items that can or cannot be allowedto bring. I also wanted to bring a bunch of small cosmetics would that be a problem?

Any help is appreciated.

Hey guys,

Newly divorced. Ready for a 3 week stay in DR. Looking for suggestions. I want a mix of Local and European top end locations. I have about $50, 000+ to spend on my three weeks (excluding drink, club, casino, etc). As a newbie I figure I should start at the AI's like Vikings / Oxygen Retreat to get my feet wet, then move on to more solo times. I am planning Mid Feb/ to Late March. Any suggestions as to where to meet / talk to the veterans? Any suggestions on where to start. Veteran things to know? I am 32, 6'01" and 220.

ThanksI never had problems bringing in anything. I have carried numerous electronics in my suitcase. In Puerto Plata Airport they sometimes do a cursory check of the luggage. Sometimes if you give your luggage right away to a malatero (the porters at the airport) the customs guy will let the porter take the luggage outside without checking it. You are bringing in gifts, the electronics are not for sale. During Christmas time many Dominicans return to the island with large electronics. I have brought in electronics, cell phones and other electronics as well as cosmetics, no problem.

Any suggestions as to where to meet / talk to the veterans? Any suggestions on where to start. Veteran things to know? I am 32, 6'01" and 220.

I'm not so sure that you get more pleasure by spending more, so as you are new to the game, I think I would go somewhere reasonably economical like Blackbeards and see how you take to the game. You might want to think about doing something like finding a driver with a nice vehicle to give you a tour of the DR, and take a couple of ladies along for the ride. Or find a local expat. who would do the same and introduce you to some nice ladies.

With your budget, you really don't need to be with hookers, because you can have pretty much any woman in the DR who takes your fancy.

So I should not put them in my carry on bag, because it would show on the x-ray. Put them in the checked baggage?I usually put them in my checked luggage, I carry my camera, laptop and my cellphone in my carry on bag. I never had any problems with electronics in my checked luggage. You mentioned you will be bringing cosmetics, you cant carry on liquids, such as perfumes.

If you have never done this and have 50k to blow here is what I would have you do.

1) Go to Germany, regardless of the cold weather, to bang all the hot hot hot euro chicks in one of the most popular FKKs in the Frankfurt area. This will be more cost effective than going to vikings and you will have tons more selection. You will loose maybe 1 day in travel time but will have all the euro variety you want. This subs for the one girl per day at Vikings unless you want to open you wallet even more. It is just not worth it.

2) Catch a flight to the DR and go to BB to get a feel for the DR.

3) catch a taxi to Sosua and bang the local disco girls.

4) travel from town to town in the DR and circle bang the whole country.

Are you trying to blow the whole 50k so your ex does not get her hands on the money?

I would not go to O2 as the girls are all local girls. I felt funny banging those girls who are sequestered to a compound. They are not allowed to leave anywhere for anything.

Yes I would recommend (and I am going) to blackbeards (BB's) google for website. Then spend some days in Sousa,at the NEW GARDEN hotel is good.. Google that also, hitting clubs like crystals, classicos and la passion , you'll have a great time.

I don't know the AI places Vikings/Oxygen/Blackbeards. There are some very nice villas that you can rent on the northcoast, with a maid, a cook, private pool, jacuzzi, on the beach if you want. Rent a SUV. I would definitely visit Santiago and Santo Domingo. There are some fine chicas in Santo Domingo. At least one club in Santo Domingo has international chicas, take out price for the higher end chicas about 200 U.S. Dollars or less. I would suggest you try not to make yourself a target by advertising too much, that you have a lot of money to burn.

Caberete has a young crowd, mostly tourists who go there to windsurf and kite board. Good number of white chicas, european, in Cabarete, some topless on the beach. Local chicas in Dom. Rep., like Caberete. Not many working girls in Cabarete. Members have previously posted about scams involving the police in Cabarete. I never got any action in Cabarete.

Use the atm machines to withdraw cash as needed. Decent Casino in Cabarete (with a disco upstairs, I was there two years ago), two casinos in Sosua, a very small one adjacent to Sosua Bay Hotel and the other casino is Playa Chiquita casino, five minutes by car from the center of Sosua. Neither Casino in Sosua is anything special. There is at least one casino in the Playa Dorada complex in Puerto Plata. Santiago has several casinos and Santo Domingo has numerous casinos.

Another member posted recently about his trip wherein he had a driver who had a gun, you may want to contact that member for more information.

For that much money you deserve girls that are way higher up in class and looks than the chicks in the sosua area. Go to Santo Domingo and fuck the hottest university students and chicks that you can find at the mall. These girls will be stunners and not some barrio *****.

Actually I dont even think you can spend that much money in DR even you tried to spend it. You can probably make 10 trips over there for that much money.

I think your idea is an excellent one. First off, there is no doubt that you will spend your three weeks getting fucked silly with a variety of attractive women. That is not in doubt.

The question really is how you are going to spend your three weeks and hopefully won't be ending your three weeks wishing you had done things differently.

That is why I think the most important thing for you is to try to meet some of the English-speaking expatriate residents who hang around the scene, as they can help you make travel arrangements, introduce you to women etc.

In my opinion it would be a good idea for you to spend some of your first days staying or just hanging out at Blackbeards at Costambar, not just to bang chicas, but also because there are a number of expatriates who hang out around the area (you will have to ask arount) who have plently of time on their hands to help you out.

DO NOT tell people you have loads of money, because that way everybody and their buddy will have some scheme to help you out (rip you off) so you need to find someone who is reasonably trustworthy. This person can also help you get a local cell phone, which you will surely need. Bring an unlocked GSM camera phone with you.

With your budget it would not be difficult to have a driver and vehicle on call 24/7, so you have no restrictions on where you go and when you go there, which is one of the biggest problems for budget visitors. If I were you I would make this one of my major expenses, because it is the key to having a wonderful time in the DR. I would not drive myself--you will soon see why.

So you can stay in a nice hotel and return there whenever you want, and possibly rent a room somewhere else (for example Blackbeards or Europa Hotel in Sosua) to take chicas for sex, where you do not have your valuables. Also that way, you may have "respectable" aquaintances at your nice hotel and keep them apart from your mongering associates.

I would not stay at one of the "premium" sex resorts, because all they will want to do is keep you on campus and milk you for what they can get, rather than helping you to get the max out of your DR experience.

And don't be afraid to ask for what you want. If, for example, you want threesomes with 2 girs having sex together (a perennial favorite) don't be afraid to ask, and even if not every girl will do it, sooner or later you will find what you want, for everyone has their price. Remember almost every woman you see in the DR will be available to you, though not necessarily as a straight pay-for-play proposition. Just have your Spanish-speaking aquaintance approach her and tell her "my friend thinks you are hot" and see what kind of response you get.

Obviously with such a large budget, you can afford to rent the swankiest mansion or stay in the poshest resorts, but doing these things alone won't necessarily give the greatest pleasure, because ultimately it is the human companionship that makes or breaks a vacation.

You will have a wonderful time anyway, so good luck.

Yes, he could, but my experience is that more isn't always better, and that even with threesomes, it takes quite a bit of practice to get the right chemistry so that each participant feels comfortable. Maybe others have different experience.

Remember that the original poster is quite new to the mongering scene and probably isn't as jaded as some of us old lags. I know when I first started going to the DR a few years back, I was really blown away by the fact that having sex with any attractive woman you saw in the street was a distinct possibility and not just an idle fantasy, and that even if you couldn't have her, you could probably find one that looked just like her.

I was just imagining the stuff I might do with 2300 dollars per day, freak show. 6 girls even at 300 dollars per girl, gets you to 1800. There are a good number of chicas who would do some kinky stuff for 300 dollars for one night. I am sure he can bang some really hot non-hardcore chicas with that money.

... feel the "need to make up for lost time" over the past several years...You will never make up for lost time. What's gone is gone. What you can do is start a new life. You don't need to spend $50,000 in three weeks to have fun in DR. Just go there, rent a condo for a month, find a good guy to hang around with and the rest will come naturally. By the way, don't even think about carrying the $50k with you.

And most important, remember the the old bull/new bull story when they saw the cows pasturing in the distance and the young bull said "let's run there and fuck a cow", and the old bull replied: "no, let's walk and fuck them all".

With this I want to tell you, don't rush it. Take it easy and enjoy.

It's alway's better to take your time, not act obvious (not letting people know why you are actualy there for) and having them come to you.

I learnt that on my second trip in Dr. And the best way to do so is to go for 14 day's.

I have about $50, 000+ to spend on my three weeks (excluding drink, club, casino, etc). X E dot com says that is 1,772,625 PESOS! That translates roughly to 1181.75 pieces of ass at the going rate of 1500 pesos for an all nighter. I believe if my math is right, he can have one girl all night, every night for 3.238 years.

Does that put it in perspective. Hell, at 3000 pesos he'd be busy every night for at least a year and 1/2.

I can't imagine what one would have to do to get turned on at that point????

If you prefer whiter girls who are upscale and you can talk to I would head to Cafe Photo in Sao Sao Paulo for a week and pick the best girl for a week in a fabulus villa on the coast - then maybe head off to Bahia or the North for some more local types. Brazilian girls have to edge on Dominicans, I suggest. Obviously just thinking what I would do in your shoes.

ThanksA taxi would be expensive from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata, I would imagine over 100 us dollars. Metro Bus goes from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata and Sosua. The Metro bus station in Santo Domingo is on Avenida Winston Churchill a little past Ave. 27 de Febrero, on the right hand side, going in the direction of Ave. Kennedy. Caribe Tours is another bus company that goes from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata. Caribe tours has a website on the internet with their schedule. One Caribe Tours bus station is on Avenida 27 de Febrero not far from Ave. 30 de Marzo. Ave 30 de marzo is close to the beginning of zona colonial. Cost from Santo Domingo to Sosua on a bus is around 10 dollars. I have not taken the bus, other members here will have more accurate information.

Just read the Puerto Plata thread, you will find all the necessary information when you go throught the pages.
Well it all dependes what kind of room you are going to book i think a standard room is for 55 dollars per day, there are more expensive rooms as well, how many times you want to get laid ST(1-2 hours) is 1300 pesos which is round 40 dollars and all night long is 2400 pesos which is round about 80 dollars depending on the exchange rate.
For more information send me a PM or read the Puerto Plata thread.

I had not been in Dom Rep for over three months, (my last trip was about 4 months prior and hence I had not used my Dominican cellular in over three months). I was worried whether I would had have to pay and activate my claro cellular phone again. I entered in the Dom Rep recently and bought a claro card, dialed 1133 and entered the numbers from the back of the card. My phone worked, no problem. I did not have to pay for another activation. I received some text message saying I would have to pay 40 dollars or something, but I ignored it, maybe a scam. I also have a new Claro card in my luggage that i will use the next time I go into Dom Rep, supposedly an unused Claro card is good for 6 months.

I would suggest always having an extra Claro or Orange card with you. Maybe buy two at a time. Can be a pain in the ass, when you are running out of minutes late at night and then you have to do search for a place to buy a card. Sundays can be difficult as well to buy cards. I had an extra samsung phone with me, that i did not activate, but I kept it plugged in, so that I always had a fully charged battery. The Nissan Tiida vehicle I had from Alamo, the cigarette lighter outlet did not work, so I was unable to charge the phone in my car. I had the other samsung fully charged so I was able to swap out the battery. (bought the verizon prepaid samsung camera phone at my local walmart for 25 dollars, works perfect in Dom Rep, after I activated it in Dom Rep over 10 months ago)

Drove me a little crazy with chicas phoning me with different numbers. A couple of jealous boyfriends phoned me and sent me text messages. I ignored them, one chica said she was sorry, that this dude kept calling me, she said she had nothing going on with him. I usually kept the phone in vibrate mode. Occasionally I would put it in silent mode. Only one chica, who gave me very little sex, wanted to check my text messages and asked me why I didn't answer my phone when someone was calling me in her presence. I dropped her. Most of the other chicas were not like spies.

I had an acer laptop that had built in encryption software, so I encrypted all the photos once I transferred them to my laptop. I would highly suggest that you put a password on your laptop. If the chicas want to use your laptop let them sign in as a guest, I guess that way they don't have access to your c drive folders, but I don't know for sure. Some of the chicas are clever with computers, best they don't have access to your photos on your laptop. I also bring with me multiple sd cards for the digital camera (sd cards are cheap now), so that I can swap out sd cards when I am with different chicas in the same day or night. Also good to have a password for your laptop in case it gets stolen. On my next trip I will install a disk locking software on my laptop, this way in case it is stolen, the thieves will not be able to access the hard drive.

If you are doing multiple chicas in the same day, gf chicas, always check your mattress and sheets for any evidence a chica may have left behind. Some chica scratched my back during sex and the next day when I was with a different gf chica, she saw the scratches, I said I got them in the pool (bad excuse), I probably should have said I had some bad mosquito bites.

I now keep my box of condoms in the front pocket my large suitcase, so that I always know where they are and can access then quickly. I usually don't like to leave out a box of condoms in the bathroom, because I know some jealous gf type chica would probably count them, to see how many I have used.

I smoke Marlboro lights, bad habit I know, I will try to quit soon. This post is for the smoking mongers. Most places in Santo Domingo are now non smoking. Pacos restaurant in el conde, non-smoking inside. The Jaragua casino allows smoking, Manolos outside seating allows smoking. Hard Rock Cafe no smoking inside. Bar Atarazana no smoking. Baby Dolls no smoking. Overlounge and Tribeca in Santiago were non-smoking. Las Colinas Rancho Typico I smoked outside. Cucaramonga restaurant in front the monument (Santiago) I was able to smoke on the second floor in the restaurant. Hotel El Gran Almirante allowed smoking in the lobby, probably in the casino as well. I received a non-smoking room at the Hotel El Emabajador in Santo Domingo, but the room had a large balcony so I was able to smoke there.

I don't like the Marlboro lights made in Dominican Republic, when I smoke them, they dry out my mouth. Good deal at duty free at JFK in New York for cigarettes, 5 cartons for around 130 dollars. A carton of cigarettes here in New York runs about 70 dollars. The Marlboro lights they sell in duty free when leaving the Dominican Republic are made in Switzerland, I don't like them.

Hopefully I'll quit soon. Some chicas really hate the smoking, my wingman hates when I smoke as well.

One time when I left Puerto Plata, my stomach got upset on the plane. I now carry with me on the plane chewable immodium tablets and chewable pepto bismol tablets. Another time I flew when I had a cold, while coming down to land, my ears could not decompress (because of the nasal congestion), terrible pain, like pins being stuck in my ears. I now usually carry on with me a few benadryl pills and a few tylenol cold tablets. If you take vitamins on a daily basis, this past trip I had chewable centrum multiple vitamins, chewable vitamin c and chewable low dosage aspirin. With the chewables you don't need water to take them.

What is the maximum you can withdraw money in an ATM of the Dominican Republic? When you use the ATM you will get a lower exchange rate, something like $34 instead of $35 whatever it is right now.

You can get many drugs without a prescription. If I was you I would not try to bring anything back home with you.

During my February Rio flight by chance I started singing during landing and miraculously there were no usual ears pain. I repeated on my way back ( I know no one sings on the way back) and worked again.

Can anyone comment, please?

Try doing what scuba divers do to equalize water pressure.Pinch your nose with two fingers and gently blow out your nose.

Try it now you will feel the pressure on your eardrums.

Salvatore X, I believe that it's about $500 dollars or about 15000 RDs.I routinely take out 30,000 - 35,000 pesos from ATM. The limit on a transaction may be 10-15k but I just take card out, and do a new transaction to take out more money. I believe the daily limit is $1,000 USD but the transaction limit may be 300 to 500.

As I remember it was 10,000 peso per transaction. The daily limit is set by you and your financial institution. If you are close to your daily limit always check for an exchange rate and how the conversion is done otherwise you can get an unsufficient funds message if you exceed your daily limit even by a cent.

If you bring the pills in the original prescription bottle you will have no problems with customs in or out of the country.

Since we touched on one pharmacy question, I do have another one I have never seen addressed here on the board.

I pick up my generic cialis here and stock up on my trips to the DR for my time in the States, as getting these in the DR is much cheaper and they do the trick for me. I occasionally us AmbienCR as a sleep aid at home, and have used its generic counterpart also. My health insurance does not cover this and the costs can start to add up. I was wondering if anyone knows if either AmbienCR or its generic form are available over the counter without a prescription? Is it cheaper than the States?

Thanks in advance.

Try Costco for Generic Ambien it is dirt cheap, there. A buddy of mine who has been on Ambien for years, says Costco has best price.

Assuming what you post is real, all that you care about is material, your money, your house. Obviously you could not keep your man happy and because of your own selfishness and greed, you try to blame unknown strangers for your own shortcomings. Pathetic.

Probably when you were younger, you might have been more attractive and I am certain that you were rude and nasty to many men who tried to be friendly with you. Now you are probably older and less attractive and less men find you desirable. So now you will be a bitter old sea hag.

You can take a trip to Dominican and go and meet some Dominican men. They will ony want you for your money. You can learn how is it, to be with someone who only wants you for material reasons. But I doubt you will ever learn, a zebra never changes their stripes, and a greedy materialistic woman, will always be that way.

Have fun paying off that 10k line of credit, haha. I don't know if your husband went to Dominican or not, but it would be justice if he did and had unprotected sex with with many transvestites and came back to you for unprotected sex. Ya… well, I am just reading this and why I decided to reply I just don’t know. I don’t even expect you to return here and read the commentary. Some replies are a little harsh although spot on. The only thing I could add here is…

You are the person who choose your partner so the biggest blame is on YOURSELF. That is, this is 100% your own fault. You did not know his character well enough when you married the guy. Own up to it.

As a firm believer in Karma just let me say… Most likely, you got what you had coming to you. Deal with it, move on, and stop blaming your woes on the rest of the world.

Car show 2009 in Sosúa

From Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 April car enthusiasts can visit the car show, held in the car park of the Banco Popular in Sosúa. The latest models will be displayed and motoring fans can eat their hearts out. There is also good news for bargain-hunters, because most models will be sold at reduced prices. Anyone wanting to buy a car, but not having enough cash on hand, can always apply to the Banco Popular for a loan. Bank staff will be ready to give you all the necessary information.

I am planning a late June trip to the DR and having a hard time deciding whether to stay at Black Beards or the New Garden. I went to Curacao last year and had a great time but this is my first trip to the DR. I’ll be traveling alone and speak no Spanish.

I like Black Beards’ business model. The concept of having available ladies on site at a fix price appeals to me. I would not have to find the ladies, negotiate a price or worry about getting ripped off. Everything needed would be available at the resort. Since the ladies are regulars even the available services would be known. But that is also the problem. I’m afraid that it would get old after a few of days. Also there does not appear to be much else to do in the area.

On the other hand the New Garden is in the middle of a town with restaurants, shops, bars and other available activities. Also the best scuba diving is near Sosua which is important to me. The problem is I not sure how successful I would be in obtain quality and affordable ladies. The logistics of Sosua may be too overwhelming and stressful.

My vision of the ideal vacation day is spending the morning diving, the afternoon relaxing, then after a nice dinner and a few drinks spending time with an agreeable lady. I don’t see myself staying out partying until the wee hours of the morning but you never know. If the diving sucks that's what I may end up doing. Any comments/suggestions that would persuade me one way or the other would be appreciated.

Call the diving company then ask all the questions you need regarding the terms etc. Make sure you ask about locations as taxi fares could make it prohibitive. If you have to take a taxi to Sosua or Caberete from Costambar it will cost quite a bit. I know there is diving outside of Puerta Plata, but not being a diver I can't vouch one way or another.

In saying that, after your morning dive you would go back to the resort, refect on your dive and relax. Clean up, have a few drinks, dinner and enjoy the chicas on your terms. This would be the most stress free way in my estimation for a first timer. So, taking it slow for your first visit would be my advise. But you are correct that Blackbeards is somewhat isolated with very little to do.

Sosua offers more with regards to activity. If the better diving is to be had there then it would be more cost effective to stay in Sosua based on taxi expenses alone. Again, Google the Sosua diving scene and ask the appropriate questions. In Sosua you are on your own with no one to hold your hand. Personally I've never had an issue and enjoy the main drag, shops, the wonderful beach and the overall scene more then the confinement of Blackbeards. Chicas are everywhere and it's easy to score. Just backpeddle thru some reports and you will do fine.

My 2 cents.

Either way

(You could split your time between Blackbeards and Sosua) Appears there are some good dive centers based in Playa Dorada complex, which is maybe 30 minutes from Blackbeards. http://www.gooddive.com/dominican-republic-diving/puerto-plata-diving. Htm

Sosua has at least two well established dive centers, one at the beginning of the beach and the other on the main street, about 200 feet from Classicos. (There are others in Sosua). If you stay in Sosua, you can walk to the dive centers.

Not knowing any Spanish will make things a little difficult. There are plenty of people around who can help you with some basic translation. Learn a few basic words, Cuanto? (how much? ) Cuanto pesos? Cuanto horas? (How many hours)

If you scuba dive everyday, you will be tired (carrying the equipment, bumpy boat ride).

Most times it is very easy to find a chica in Sosua. If you stay at New Garden, the bars are within a two to three block radius. All you have to do is go and sit in a bar, order your favorite beverage and watch the chicas walk by. In the evenings more chicas hang out in the bars. Some Sosua chicas are aggressive and they will approach you. There is also La Passions massage in Sosua which is a controlled environment with set prices, where you can get your rocks off.

I do not know Blackbeards in person. I am not sure how the diving scene is in Costambar. The dive center near Classicos is, I believe run by dutch guys and I believe they speak English.

The new mamasan at BB's Rosalba speaks English and the other guys that are there would probaly help you out. I am also going to DR in July I am going to do two days at the New Garden and Five Days at BB's. I think BB's is a safe place for a new guy with no spanish skills. You could always stay at both New Garden and BB's. The mongers in Sosua (New Garden)
would also help you out.

More laidback than living in Sosúa, tranquil rather than "overwhelming and stressful", but on the other hand within easy reach of Sosúa and Puerto Plata by public transport for a few pesos, not "isolated" like Barba Negra and at the mercy of the Costambar taxi cartel. Under the new management it is getting good reviews.

At any one of these three locations you will have a great time and lack of Spanish will not be a handicap. Worth learning a few basic words and phrases (especially counting and prices) though to smooth your way.

I want some of what you are smoking, your words about BB's being "isolated" vs. FOD could not be further from the truth. FOD is on the main highway but is in the middle of absolute nowhere and you have to take a taxi to go anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE!! On the other hand at BB's you can walk to the beach, walk to bars, restaurants, markets, pharmacies, whatever you need is within walking distance. And all the taxista's in the DR are thieving bastards, the difference is you don't need them at BB's whereas if you want to buy a lousy bottle of soda you have to hire a taxi if you stay at FOD.

This is such an active forum, i hoped i could ask my question and get a pretty good answer: I'm a resident of Haiti and want to drive across and up to Sosua area. West of Santo Domingo, @ 1.5 hours, highway 41 goes up north from Bani/Los Carreras, going through San Jose de Occoa--maps suggests it hooks up with Hghway 1, and think that's the main route up from Santo Domingo. I WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATIVE IF SOMEONE COULD ADVISE ME WHETHER THIS ROAD IS PASSABLE AND OKAY TO TAKE, or that otherwise i have to keep driving east towards SD and, in what looks like to be a very complicated way, hook up with 1A from there and keep driving north...Incidentally, if anyone wants to take this trip with me from Port au Prince, leaving @ May 15th, please let me know.

Where are you crossing from in Haiti? It would be easier if you could cross at Dajabon or any other northern crossings. But if you can't, then I would suggest travelling to the Capital and picking up Route 1 and take it north to Santiago, past Bonao and La Vega. You'll pass the airport and eventually see the Monument in front of you. Don't get on the upper level of the Autopista. Stay right to the bottom level and then you'll make a right on Estrella Sadhala. Take that street all the way up until you'll see a large roundabout and swing left towards navarette(Route 1). You'll pass Las Vegas night club on your right and eventually arrive to another huge roundabout intersection. Make a right(Route 5) don't go straight towards Navarette and you'll be heading towards Puerto Plata in about 45 minutes and eventually Sosua.

This is not the fastest route, but the easier and more direct, unless you want to save time and be adventurous, you can either take Route 21(Moca Route) after La Vega to Sabaneta de Yasica, hook a left and head towards Cabarete or in Santiago from Sadhala, make a right on Bartolome Colon to the Autopista Touristica, which will drop you at Montellano, hook a right and in 20 minutes bam, you're in Sosua.

Safe Travels

I am planning a late June trip to the DR and having a hard time deciding whether to stay at Black Beards or the New Garden.Thank you very much gentleman for all the advice you provided. I decide to stay in Sosua at the New Garden from June 14 through the 21. BB is hooked up with a dive shop that provides transportation but they pick you up at 8:00am to meet a boat in Sosua. I decided to deal with the logistics of staying in Sosua to avoid the daily commute. Also if the diving sucks Sosua provides more recreational options. I just hope this 50ish, solo, non Spanish speaking hobbyist can negotiate the services I enjoy for a realistic price from quality ladies. I will post a full report on how I made out when I return.

i started in the northeast part of zona colonial (north of plaza espana and atarazana), i took i believe ave mexico and made a right on ave 30 de marzo, which i took to ave kennedy. it was 1:01 pm, when i entered kennedy near what i believe is ave 30 de marzo, i was driving a subcompact 5 speed car. i got to the toll plaza around 1:31 pm, 30 peso toll. the highway starts shortly after the toll plaza. if i remember correctly i passed bonao around 2:00 pm. i got into santiago at 2:47 pm (about an hour and 46 minutes from kennedy and 30 de marzo to santiago). i had to slow down because the gas needle was approaching empty and i stopped for gas about 15 minutes before santiago. for 500 pesos i got a little less than 3/4 tank of gas. on the trip to santiago there was also about a five mile detour where they closed the northbound lanes and rerouted the northbound traffic into one of the southbound lanes, which slowed the speed of vehicles with only one lane in each direction. my average speed was between 110-120kph, a few times 140kph and other cars were still zooming passed me. it was sunny, during a sunny day, that drive is easy. there are some highway police, they drive white motorcycles and sometimes white vehicles.

My personal best was Gazcue to Sosua in 2:45. Nice sunny day and did about 150-160 on autopista and then over the Loma for about the 20th time. I've never seen the police pull anybody over. And I've also done this trip both ways at night. Not to be recommended as the locals don't know how to dim their brights. And lots of slow vehicles without taillights. Rainy days are also not for the faint of heart.

Pooter,

I want some of what you are smoking, your words about BB's being "isolated" vs. FOD could not be further from the truth. FOD is on the main highway but is in the middle of absolute nowhere and you have to take a taxi to go anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE!! On the other hand at BB's you can walk to the beach, walk to bars, restaurants, markets, pharmacies, whatever you need is within walking distance. And all the taxista's in the DR are thieving bastards, the difference is you don't need them at BB's whereas if you want to buy a lousy bottle of soda you have to hire a taxi if you stay at FOD.I don't smoke.

From FoD I get to a sizable shopping centre (Puerto Plata) by very frequent (every 2/3 minutes) public transport for a 15 peso (guagua) or 20 peso (publico) each way fare. To get there from Barba Negra means a long walk or motoconcho ride to the highway before you can get public transport.

You could also walk across the main road to the tourist mall in Playa Dorada, not that I have ever needed to.

For ease of getting to Sosúa (and this is pertinent to John's post to which I was replying) FoD wins hands down.

Both Barba Negra and Field of Dreams have their advantages and disadvantages. Both are good choices for newbies but they are slightly different in the experience they provide.

Anyway John has cut through this argument by deciding to stay at the New Garden, another good choice but for a different type of holiday.

Sosúa is in the Puerto Plata administrative area but is a separate town about 25 kilometres and 25 minutes by road to the East.

Puerto Plata has a recently refurbished Malecon (seafront boulevard) and long beach which looks great and is intensively used by locals at the weekends but there are questions about the purity of the water as there are a number of sewage outlets in the area. Sosúa beach, while maybe not meeting First World beach cleanliness standards, is a lot cleaner and I have never anyone complain about it.

There are also numerous pleasant little non-tourist beaches along the coast between the two towns to access any of which you would need a car.

This is not true. I have used Victor from Techi-Taxis for three years and he has never tried to overcharge me a single peso, besides being very reliable and helpful. No doubt there are other taxistas who are equally honest although I agree they may be in the minority.

If you approach anyone with negative prejudices and an "ugly American" attitude you are unlikely to get the best or cheapest service.

But the point I was making is that the taxi cartel serving Blackbeards is notoriously expensive because other taxis are not allowed into Costambar to pick up clients. Obviously this is irrelevant if you have your own auto.

ThanksVerizon is now Claro service in DR, all new activations on Claro are on the GSM system and a CDMA phone may or may not be able to be activated.

Bring an unlocked Quad band phone for activation on either Claro or Orange in DR. You can also buy a decent working prepaid phone once in DR for under $30 including some talk time!

ThanksCdma phones are NOT the same as GSM "quad/tri-band" phones. They are two different technologies.

With GSM "unlocked" phones you can buy and register a SIM card from following Dominican communications providers: Orange, Claro, Viva, and and "top off" with minutes as necessary. You will receive a local number. At the Santo Domingo Int Airport there is an Orange Kiosk.

Your option with your CDMA phone is to sign up for service with Claro or Viva. Also will receive a local number. These phones do not use SIMs.

Third option is to roam with your "foreign" Verizon phone internationally- VERY expensive. You keep your original number- if your account is still active.

ThanksThe info has been posted before. Most verizon cell phones don't use sim cards. Most AT&T cell phones use sim cards. The two bigger cell phonel companies in the DR are Orange and Claro. What town or city will you be visiting? I have bought several Prepaid Verizon Samsung camera phones at Walmart (sch-u340) and had them activated in the DR for claro for about 20 dollars. Recently at Walmart I saw that they have a different Verizon Samsung camera phone for $20 dollars. I have previously seen at Walmart, AT&T Motorola and Nokia prepaid cell phones that use sim cards for $10 dollars.

I tried to get a Virgin Aloha prepaid LG phone unlocked in DR and they didn't have the codes, so they were unable to unlock it. 200 pesos to unlock a phone is a good price. I got charged about 20 dollars to unlock a phone at a Codetel kiosk in Carrefour on Autpista Duarte, Santo Domingo, it took then about an hour and some form of Identification has to be presented, such as a passport.

When I was in Santo Domingo, I went to the Codetel office on El Conde to unlocked another Verizon prepaid Samsung cell phone and they told me to go to the main Codetel office near park independencia. I have given chicas 20-30 dollar verizon prepaid samsung camera phones from here and the chicas have been able to get them activated in the Dom Rep. It can be a hassle for someone new in the Dom Rep, so maybe the best bet is for the person is to buy a cell phone in the Dom Rep that is ready to use. The samsung sch-u340, were 35 dollars at walmart and then the price went down to 20 dollars (I bought several, sometimes to use at gifts). In the DR those phones can cost 50 dollars or more, I have been told. I always have at least two of the same phone. One I never use, I just keep it plugged in, so that I always have a fresh battery that I can swap out to use in my active phone. Also a good idea to have a car charger if you will be visiting different chicas in different cities. I also bring with me a 20 dollar hands free device to use in the car, supposedly the police can pull you over for chatting on the phone, best not to give them any excuses for stopping you.

There is a Codetel Office on the second floor of the airport at Santo Domingo, it is to the left of the escalators. When you arrive you will exit on the first floor, to get to the Codetel Office you would take the escalators to the second floor and make a right (there is also an elevator). I don't know how it works with unlocked phones in DR, seems you can just walk into the codetel office and have them activate it for you and they give you a dominican phone number and thereafter you would buy claro cards to add minutes (If you activate with Orange then you would buy Orange cards). The Claro cards come in 100 pesos, 150, 250 and 500 peso denominations. Buy a 500 peso card to start with and try to have an extra unused card with you. Sometimes it can be difficult to buy the cards when you really need them, which can be late at night when you are trying to hook up with some chica. The unlocked phone may be the easiest way to go. Many shops sell inexpensive phones as well, I don't know if the codetel office at the airport sells phones. Another member said there is an Orange kiosk in the santo domingo airport, but I don't know where it is.

Thanks for clarifying, I always get sent to another store after going to a Claro or Orange office with a locked phone. I still believe the easiest, cheapest way to hook up a phone is to buy it already activated in DR, they are cheap enough, under RD$1000 nowadays for decent phones.

Chocolate is a kind of aphrodisiac at times. My wingman likes to bring a bag of lolly pops. Can be fun watching some chicas suck on a lollypop.

Listerine, chewing gum, or breath mints can sometimes be useful, occasionally you will encounter chicas with dragon breath.

I usually buy two bottles of Baileys at the airport duty free. The duty free shops usually have a special if you buy two bottles. Just about every dominican chica I have met likes baileys.

Bring some insect repellent, some places have mosquitoes. KY massage oil/lubricant (check to make sure it is safe for use with latex condoms).

A few extra memory cards for the digital camera that you can swap out, in case you do multiple chicas in the same day, this way the chicas don't see who you were with previously.

I rent a car, so i burn cd's of music that I can listen to in the car, most new rental cars have a cd player.

If you bring a laptop or a portable dvd player, dvd movies can be good to have. Sometimes after the deed, the chica will want to hang with you in bed and watch television. I prefer to watch a movie than television (a movie will keep them entertained, so that you don't have to). (Some guys watch pornos with the chicas, some chicas are into that).

Good to have music in the room, if you have a mp3 player you can buy cheap external speakers. Download some spanish music, reggaeton, merengue, salsa, bachata.

Make sure your room has a safe (if it doesn't, secure and hide any valuables as best you can). Lock up any valuables. Some safes are not big enough for laptops, most newer laptops have a slot where you can attach a cable lock. Put a password on your laptop. Truecrypt is a free encryption software, whereby you can encrypt individual folders or whole drives.

And you can always meet some chicas online before you go, hi5 and badoo are free, do a search for Dominincan chicas and send them a message (there are other sites that charge a subscription fee such as the international version of match.com and dominicancupid.com). I have hooked up with plenty of dominican chicas that I met online.

Don't forget your condoms, be safe and have fun.

Awesome, thanks! If you activate your phone with Claro, thereafter you will add minutes by buying Claro cards (some places will also sell paper receipts printed out with codes to add minutes). The Claro cards are credit card size paper wrapped in clear plastic. Take the card out of the clear plastic. On the back of the card there is a part with a scratch off section, underneath the scratch off section will be about 9-10 numbers. Best to use a coin to remove the scratch off part, I used my car key late one night and I nearly scratched off one of the numbers.

For claro, you dial 1133, press send and you will hear a message in Spanish, the last thing she says ahora, enter the numbers from the back of the card and you will hear another message in spanish, something with valor de tu tarjeta, you are done, you can hang up, the minutes have been added. Occasionally the system is down (not very often) and you will have to dial again to add minutes.

I have never used voice mail on my Claro cell phone, you may want to ask about that when you activate your phone. You can also send and receive text messages with the phones.

Occasionally the system is down (not very often) and you will have to dial again to add minutes.

I have never used voice mail on my Claro cell phone, you may want to ask about that when you activate your phone. You can also send and receive text messages with the phones. So claro I take it would be the card of choice? Thanks for the info on the spanish messages, I would have been like what the hell? Hahahaha. Looks like the weather is going to be uber shitty for me oh well just have to spend more time in the sack then I suppose!

Those are all excellent suggestions Jaosousa, but SOME places have mosquitos? How about ALL places in the DR have ridiculous amounts of mosquitos and they are hungry muthaf***ers!!!You're right, I should have said some places have more mosquitoes than others. There were a bunch of mosquitoes in the room at the Barcelo Capella, motherf. , bit me up. In Santiago they weren't too bad and no mosquitoes in the rooms at the Hilton or the Palacio.

Ughhhh.... how old are these girls Candyman???

-Helpmann :DAlways over 18. Good to have something in the room to eat, however small (even potato chips, which can be bought there) (most times I store the stuff in the refrigerator to keep it away from the small ants which will find any food left out), some chicas can be miserable if they are hungry.

Helpmann, maybe you offer the women hors d'oeuvres and caviar when they visit your room, or maybe you give them nothing to eat, no snacks and no drinks. I am 45 years old and I enjoy eating Candy, sorry that you find my post disturbing, UGHHHH.

-Helpmann :DJAJAJA o HAHAHA, even though they may be working girls I do show them respect and try to be somewhat of a good host when they visit my room in the Dominican Republic. When people visit my home I always offer them something to eat and drink. I am too cheap to bring Caviar to the Dominican Republic, so Candy or potato chips has to suffice as the offering.

This Sosua chica enjoyed her lollypop, I checked her cedula very carefully and she was over 18.

Maybe you haven't, but I have entered my room in the Dom Rep at 4:00AM with some chica, a little hungry, good to have something to eat in the room even if it is only Candy. But I guess you would suggest ordering Dominoes Pizza at 4:00AM (good luck with that in DR), or maybe going back out into the street at 4:00AM and and searching for a roadside food cart (have fun).

I have never used Orange, so I don't know. It is your preference, since you will have a quad band phone. I once looked it up, I believe claro has a cdma network and orange a gsm network, but I'm not sure. I gave one chica a prepaid AT&T Motorola celular from here in the states and she told me she was able to activate it to use with claro.

Go with whichever company that can get your phone working the fastest and for the least amount of money.

Well I know I'm not shit, but women aren't either. I was on the plane the other day. There was a Dominican woman sitting next to me who was on her way to see her boyfriend. She was showing me all kinds of pictures of them in her camera and cell phone. She kept calling him when phones were supposed to be off. I told her that she was going to get put out off the plane doing that. When we got into the air she started saying how sleepy she was so she cuddled up on my shoulder and went to sleep.

When the flight attendant walked by I pointed to her and said I don't even know this woman. But what the hell. I ordered a Jack & Sprite then I started to play in the lady's hair while I listened to my Ipod. She woke up and said how good it felt. Then I told her "dame besos." And we kissed right in the mouth. So she decided to order the same drink that I had. I told her that Jack was too strong for her. When she got her drink she took her lime out of the drink and almost demolished it. I told her to let me take it out of her mouth with my mouth. And we did the kissy kissy thing some more.

Our flight was running late and she had to meet her boyfriend at the gate of her next flight because they were taking it together. We exchanged numbers before we got off the plane. She told me that I could come to her crib anytime. She has an apartment on the beach. She wasn't familiar with the airport so I showed her how to get to where her boyfriend was waiting. And before we parted ways she thanked me and you guessed it...more kisses!

So claro I take it would be the card of choice? Just to be clear, if you activate the phone with Claro you can only use Claro cards. Same for Orange, if you activate the phone with Orange you have to use Orange cards. I believe codetel operates claro. Vivo is another cell phone company, but I have no experience with them.

Verizon used to be in the Dominican Republic, but I believe Verizon sold off that unit and it became Codetel. One chica I know prefers Claro because she gets a better signal where she works.

I have used Claro and the coverage is pretty good throughout the island.

When you have little minutes left from the card, you will hear a message when you dial a number, something in spanish like, "... un minuto y veinte segundos por esta llamada" (You have one minute and 20 seconds for this call)

If your minutes run out while you are talking the call will drop. Some chicas will call you and hang up, or tell you very quickly to call them back and hangup. They want you to call them and use your minutes. Incoming calls are, I believe, not charged against your paid for minutes.

If you want to leave a message on some chica's phone, you have to listen to kind of long message in Spanish before you get to the beep where you can leave your voice message.

Would you like to keep the same phone number you have had for the DR but are worried about the expiry of minutes and loss of your phone number due to inactivity?

Would you like to do something dumb and pay for your ho’s phone charges in the DR while you are away and she is banging the rest of the country?

Well, there is finally a service over the internet to help you. You can send minutes to your or your "friends" Claro pay as you go phone service.

I'm thinking about combining a one week trip to DR with a one week trip to my favourite desitination of all, Cartagena. Can I fly/sail directly to CTG from anywhere in DR? If not, anywhere in Colombia.

There's an airline called Aires that seems to, but there website isn't working.

Hi guys, I've run into this web site from "AlexisClub" offering quite mouth watering vacation packages. It sounds very good. But I am astonished not to find a single reference to this on the board here. Is it a scam? (I don't think so). Are DR girls really that easy that there is no sense in such an all-inclusive vacation package where your girl picks you up from the airport? Anyone tried it?

Never heard of it before but I just googled it. They don't need to scam you, they are making enough mark up as it is. US$550 for 24 hours? I have never paid more than RD$3000 (about US$85). For model types in SD or Santiago you might expect to pay double that (US$170).

Right, why would you. How about the hassle-free factor?
Goes like this: even if I was teleported to Bangkok right now, how much effort would it take to get an enjoyable experience? It's hit or miss even in the best of places. The hassle in the bars, etc. How much easier if you get to pick, fly, and be received at the airport! I think that arrangement is worth something.

Now may be DR is the paradise that you just step out of the airport and be encircled by gorgeous ladies that you just ask if they'd stay the weekend with you? Otherwise so much precious time goes down the drain just getting oriented, hitting bad places on bad days.

Thanks everyone for responding on this Alexis thing.

Thanks everyone for responding on this Alexis thing.1630 u.s. dollars for two nights for one package for some small all inclusive resort in Juan Dolio. Works out to 815 us dollars per night. For this package they pick you up at santo domingo airport and drive you to what looks like a small all inclusive hotel in Juan Dolio (photo of the bedroom doesn't look like anything special). There are photos of the chicas that they can provide.

If you wanted to bang some good looking chicas in the Santo Domingo, you could pay a taxi 45 us dollars to drive you into Santo Domingo city from the Airport. You could rent a room at numerous hotels in Santo Domingo that are chica friendly. Cost for a nicer chica friendly hotel room in Santo Domingo, 100-150 u.s. dollars per night, there are less expensive options. Then you could visit the various houses or chica bars and bang better looking looking chicas for 3500 pesos or less, 100 dollars or less. There are some good Restaurants in Santo Domingo where you would most likely get better food than what you could get in an all inclusive resort. If you went to an expensive restaurant in Santo Domingo for lunch and dinner, 100 dollars or less.

Doing it on your own:

taxi fare round trip from the sdq airport: 90 dollars.

Better looking chicas in sdq: 100 per session (definitely can find less expensive, but for convenience and no hassle, 100 dollars).

Food at better restaurants in santo domigo: 100 per day (seafood or steaks).
Better hotel in Santo Domingo: 100-150 per night.

(these are higher end prices and better prices can be found, but for quality and convenience, I'll use these prices for comparison sake)

I don't know about you, but after I have busted my nut, unless I have some great chemistry with the chica, I don't want to have to be entertaining the chica afterwards. And unless I really like the chica, I don't want to be with her 48 hours straight (unless the chica speaks some English or you speak some Spanish, it may get a little boring at times during the 48 hours she is with you). If you choose a dud with the Alexis Club, you can switch one time, but you will probably lose time waiting for the replacement chica to arrive.

From the Alexis Club site appears the hotel they use in Santo Domingo is the Coco Boutique Hotel, which costs 100 dollars per night if you wanted to book it on your own. I don't know which all inclusive hotel they use in Juan Dolio. Appears from their website they use another larger all inclusive hotel. Most All inclusive hotels close to Santo Domingo rent out for between 100-200 per night for two people.

With an 815 US Dollar per night budget, I think you could do better on your own and do multiple pops with multiple chicas that match the chicas that are shown on the Alexis Club site. Some rich guys want it easy and for that they can use Alexis Club. If you choose to use that site, confirm beforehand that the chica you choose will not be on the rag for your two nights with her.

SS,
I agree with you in principle.

I also, when I've been able to go to the DR have opted for the "spoon-fed" option, in that I don't have the time or patience to cruise around, looking for likely chicas.

The convenience of having it all at hand is indeed "worth something".
I usually use fishing as an analogy. If I fished all day, cleaned and cooked my catch myself, I could probably save money over simply ordering seafood at a restaurant. But as stated, I don't have the time to spare.

That said, one could get all of the above by simply going to a place like BlackBeards.
(No, I have no financial interest, despite how it sounds; but a NOTE TO JOHN, - I can be bribed if you are looking for a partner).
You can have a selection of girls on hand, with quality control to avoid the rip-off artists, thieves, complaints, etc. for much less.

If the discussion turns to food/conditions (I had filet mignon every night; I slept on Egyptian cotton sheets, the toilet seats had mink covers, etc.) it has to be remembered that if you want filet mignon, mink toilet seats, you will no doubt pay a premium for them. But that stuff is strictly personal taste, (and largely irrelevant to me).

Granted, nothing is perfect and one can always find faults, but for the price, I find BB to be a barain.
For those (like me) who like spoon-feeding, BB has all the same benefits, for much, much less.

I would like to see other low-cost options in the area (FOD may prove to be that in the future) because clients benefit from competition for their business, and it offers the chicas alternative places to work, when John at BB becomes too much of a tyrant for them to stomach any more.

In the end, each to his own. Some guys just like to brag about luxury and how much they paid for it.

Cuidate.

Thanks everyone for responding on this Alexis thing.Package number 2 is at the oasis canoa all inclusive. You can book your room at this hotel, for two persons, for 200 dollars per night. Alexis website wants 1770 dollars for a two night package at this hotel, with the escort. A person would be paying about 600 dollars per day, just for the escort. (taxi fare from sdq airport to La Romana, maybe 75 each way)

I looked at the photos of the chicas on the website, they are attractive, but not amelia vega quality. To each his own, but paying 600 dollars a day for a somewhat typical looking dominican chica, not for me. And you have no idea how the service will be and if the police decide to bust the owners of Alexis Club, I guess you are out of your money if you paid in advance.

With a little bit of effort you can have the same type of vacation for less money. And for 600 dollars per day you can get two or three chicas for 24 hours, that look the same as the chicas on that site.

Thanks everyone for responding on this Alexis thing. For hassle free, you could hire a taxi driver for 100 dollars per day and have him drive you to the numerous casas and chica bars in Santo Domingo and you could pop at least 5-8 different chicas for 500 dollars. If you meet one who really rocks your boat, you could invite to her an all inclusive hotel and I am sure most would be happy to get 200 dollars for 24 hours at an all inclusive hotel.

Just to add my 2 cents. There are several expensive options in the DR. For me I like to return to the DR several times a year. For what I would pay at these very high end places I can go to the DR at least two times maybe three. As was already stated BB's has many many girls to select from. If you do not see what you like ask.

I like the idea that I can keep selecting different dates. If I hit it off with one I can stay as long as I want from hours to days. I have spoken to many people that have visited a many of these upper end places but the reviews are mixed at best.

I took some time today and read through the Alexis Club website. Alexis whoever they are has cajones. These lines are from their webpage: "I believe our prices are on the low end for the escorts and hospitality services you receive."

and "Everywhere Else... The cost of a girl is so expensive in most worldwide cities that a daily rate isn't even published. If it is, you can expect to pay around $3,000 - $4,000 per 24 HOURS. And that's a steal if the huge hourly rates are any judge. On top of this, don't forget your hotel, meals, drinks, a tip and everything else."

I was wrong about the larger all inclusive hotel Alexis uses, it is the Coral Costa Caribe in Juan Dolio. The room rates for this hotel, all inclusive package, food, drink and room, can be reserved from orbitz for 96 u.s. dollars per night for two people, total price for two people for two nights would be 192 dollars for a basic room with food and drink (deluxe room can be had for 132 dollars per room per night). Alexis wants 1770 dollars for two nights at this hotel with the escort. Taxi to Juan Dolio from sdq airport, maybe around 50-60 dollars. Works out to about 700 dollars per night for the chica.

The hotel photos for Package #3, are the same you can find on the webpage for coco boutique hotel. http://www.cocoboutiquehotel.com/.

At the top of the page for package3, "Bellow are the services and facilities we offer. We have secured preferential rates for all of them, all packages are absolutely all-inclusive, (including your escort(s) and tipping!). " Whatever all inclusive means, because you will only get breakfast included at the Coco Boutique Hotel.

For whatever reason Alexis will not say the names of the hotels.

I am sure most mongers who read the ISG forums will probably laugh at the Alexis Club website. I don't begrudge a guy trying to make a living from providing monger services, but I find the Alexis Club website a little disingenuous in some of its statements.

As was previously posted, the escort service that was operated out of Punta Cana was recently shut down. Prostitution is legal in the Dominican Republic, but maybe the authorities have a problem with pimping. I don't know what law was used, to shut down that escort place in Punta Cana. But I would be very leery of sending a deposit. I don't know how much of a deposit Alexis requires and I saw nothing about how your deposit will be returned to you, if you have a problem with Alexis Club.

Hi to everybody, I would like to have your opinion:

What is the best period to get in DR?

And if you would have to choose a place/town/area for having fun and mongering, what would be your decision?

Many thanks.

By the way, I'm planning to get there very soon (from now till February 2010) for one week or two. If you have plans or ideas, pm me!

I'm in my mid twenties and know a bit of spanish (6/7 on a 1-10 rate)

Hi all

Having problems find a cheap basic hotel in Santiago.

Anybody have any ideas?I have stayed at the two Hodelpa Hotels which are over 100 dollars per night and the Hotel Platino which is about 60. But in researching my trips to Santiago, there are other less expensive options.

Hotel Platino: http://www.hotelplatinord.com/

Hotel Aloha Sol is in a good location on calle de sol, around the corner from the hodelpa centro plaza, not sure what the rates are, but are supposedly under 100 dollars per night: http://www.alohasol.com/

I have read, up the street from Hotel Aloha Sol, is Alberto Suites. Supposedly rooms have a small kitchen. I have never seen Alberto Suites, appears the location is good near Calle de Sol and not far from the monument. Maybe other members have more information on Alberto Suites.

From what I have read, Hotel Colonial is the one of the least expensive hotels in Santiago, at one time I had their webpage, I'll have to look around to try and find it.

Fellas, New and Old Mongers,

Anything this guy Alexis has to do with is pure BS, do not trust him at all!

A few years ago I was an unfortuante victim of his BS when he was on Margarita Island and after that sh*t trip I decided to never let a chance go by to tell fellow mongers truth about this a**hole!!

Do not give him your money!

Hi all,

Having problems find a cheap basic hotel in Santiago.

Anybody have any ideas? This link has phone numbers for various hotels in Santiago, some of the places listed are for cabanas (listed as Aparta Hotels).

Another member didn't like the Colonial Hotel.

You could also consider Hotel Matum which sits facing the monument.

Going to Santiago, can you give me any information as far as where I can hook up with very nice looking chics, P4PIn prior posts other members have posted locations where you can find p4p chica barss. All the chicas that I know in Santiago, I met them online before I traveled there. Join a site on the internet, badoo, hi5, international match.com, dominicancupid and send a bunch of emails to the chicas.

When I was in Santiago I saw very few p4p chicas walking the streets. There are p4p bars there, but I don't know where they are. Read the prior posts for more information on where the p4p bars are.

A good number of the chicas you can meet on the above mentioned sites are into p4p.

There are several High End places if that is what you want. For what you will pay for 3-5 days you could go to Blackbeards and stay for 2-3 weeks. There will be more girls than you can imagine to help you relax. Yes they are local girls and not white Euro babes but the local girls will give you all the GFE you want for a fraction of the place. The girls have warm smiles and are very friendly and will make you feel special.

Everytime I get an email from the High End places I do the math. When I want to relax I compare the following:

1. Can I have many different girls each day whenever I want for as long as I want?
2. Can I have multiple girls at the same time for as long as I want?
3. Can I have time to be alone if I want it?
4. Are thier other guys to hang with if I want? Male bonding...
5. Can I go and explore on my own?
6. If I meet a girl while I am out exploring can I bring her back with me?
7. Can I get food and drinks without being ripped off while I am there?
8. Is there a place close by or onsite to change money or buy vitamins V and C?

If you go to Blackbeards and want to eat, drink and buy meals and drinks for the ladies....spend time in the Jacuzzi with many many girls...and have numerous adventures all day in your room with many different girls you could spend maybe $400.00 to $500.00 us dollars a day. For what you will pay for 3-4 days at a High End place you could stay at Blackbeards for 10+days.

After 6 days of that most guys are drained! I have had many such trips to Blackbeards (BB'S)....if you need more info. just send me a PM. I don't work for BB's but I have been there enough times to know what I am talking about.

... and if you do want "white Euro babes" you could visit "white" Europe for less than you would be paying Alexis. For example gia.com.ua in Kiev would offer the same service (hotel, meals, girls, tour-guides, etc). As for me, I am happy with my 1000 peso haitianas :)

Yes they are local girls and not white Euro babes but the local girls will give you all the GFE you want for a fraction of the place. Alexis Club uses 99% local chicas, supposedly he has one or two white chicas who are supposedly coming over from Europe. Google Alexis club and you can view the photos. The girls are attractive, but are on par with some chicas you can find in Sosua and other places in Dom Rep, that a guy could get for 2000 pesos (about 60 dollars) rather than 700 dollars that Alexis wants.

My wife recently traveled to the DR with a mountain of overweight suitcases. You aren't allowed to take a piece of baggage over 50 lbs to Santo Domingo, but for Puerto Plata it is OK. She had a child with her, so used the full allowance of 4 large bags plus 2 massive carry-ons.

Still there was $50 each to pay for 2 overweight 70 lbs bags at a well-known international airport in South Florida. However the kerbside check-in guy at a well-known US airline took her $100 and gave her a receipt for $50 and split the other $50 with her, so she only paid $75 and he got $25. So that is how people afford to live in expensive places?

Then at the other end she feared she would have to pay huge amounts of import duties on her goodies, but a payment of another $100 to a maletero took care of that too. Not sure if it was good value for money, but it was quick and sure beat the hell out of completing a customs declaration.

I think this is all true and BB's certainly offers great value for money, especially for the newcomer. The only thing missing is the thrill of the chase and it is all a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. I have had a few trips to BB's in the past and found that 3 days was about the optimum time to stay before burnout set in. By that time you probably will have nailed the best girls available to you and started on a downward curve of reward to effort.

Still, I would absolutely recommend BB's for a first timer in the DR, especially if uncertain of Spanish language skills.

DR AIDS stats
AIDS is prevalent among gays, transvestites and drug addicts, according to a study released today that says that 1.1% of the adult population is infected with HIV. This information is contained in the First Survey on Risky Sexual Behavior with Serological Ties carried out in the country. The study showed the prevalence of HIV in people who use drugs to be 8% and in homosexuals and transvestites 6.1%. The study also shows that amongst sex workers the HIV rate is 4.8%.
The study, carried out in 2008 and released yesterday by the Presidential Council on AIDS (Copresida), covered the Dominican capital and the provinces of Santiago, Barahona and La Altagracia.
La Altagracia province has the highest rate of HIV among homosexual men at 7.6%, and at the same time the study showed that the highest proportion of sex workers (prostitutes) with HIV+ was found in Barahona at 8.4%.
The study also found that the prevalence of the virus is greater in the older segment (25 years or older) of the prostitutes. Syphilis was the most prevalent disease among the sex workers, with 11.3% reporting infections.
Copresida executive director Gustavo Rojas Lara stressed that "historically these groups are discriminated against and stigmatized, and this makes getting any information on their sexual behavior all the more difficult, a factor that was taken into account by the survey."
The study was carried out by Copresida and Ministry of Public Health staff with financial and technical assistance from the World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations HIV/AIDS Program (UNAIDS) and other organizations. The survey used 3900 subjects divided into 1300 sex workers, 1400 homosexuals and 1200 drug users.
According to USAID, 50 of every 100,000 Dominicans lives with the disease and 58,000 children have been orphaned by the illness.

would be to take the 84 foot Yacht docked in Puerto Plata, called "Western Union One". It comes with a 21 yo female captain and two 19yo Dominican Chicas from Santiago as a crew. It sails threw the Panama canal where you can stop and get two more "fresh" crew and continue on to Cartagena.

Crew Photos Available upon Request!!

Hello people,

Am new to this board and am going through it to find good info.

After many years of carriere as a punter in the Netherlands (Amsterdam RLD), I want now to explore new places to feel something different and enjoy my time at the best. As I've always been dreaming to visit a tropical land (I live in south Europe), I decided this is the right time to go for it! I would say the DR is a good choice, what do you think?

What am I looking for? Well, my dream is to find a beautiful tropical beach and one (or more) girl (S) to spend my time on/with. We go to the beach togheter, sleep togheter and fuck (LOL). I don't need to have many girls during my holiday, the tropical landscape/scenary is very important to me, not many people around, relaxing, quite place, no car traffic hassle (I really need to rest and relax out of my daily shit caos). I prefer to pick up a non-prof girl in a public place like a casino, disco, bar or so.

Do you think am gonna have the problem she wants a baby after 2 weeks like that? LOL am not looking for that!

Where do you suggest me to go? Please give me advices on it.

Is there something better than DR for what am looking for?

It has to be just the Carribean.

I'm not on a budget, so no money problems.

Thank you in advance.

As I've always been dreaming to visit a tropical land (I live in south Europe), I would say the DR is a good choice, what do you think?

What am I looking for? Well, my dream is to find a beautiful tropical beach and one (or more) girl (S) to spend my time on/with.Bavaro near punta cana has some nice beaches, but has many large all inclusive hotels. There are some brothels located relatively near to the large all inclusive hotels in bavaro. Also some Villas within gated complexes in Bavaro (most are probably not directly on the beach). Many tourists in Bavaro, the nearest city would be Higuey about 45 minutes away by car. Bavaro has a nice beach, but it is not the best mongering place.

Las Terrenas in Samana is a relatively small town with several hotels that near the beach. Quiet beaches in Las Terrenas. I have no idea how the mongering scene is in Las Terrenas.

You could try to chat up some chicas online before you go and have them travel to Las Terrenas to meet you and maybe spend time with you.

Puerto Plata has several beaches, but I would not describe them as being tropical paradise quality. Sosua has a beach, but it is busy and lined with shops, and gets busy on the weekends, not a tropical paradise beach.

Don't go to Santo Domingo, no beach there and the nearest beach to Santo Domingo is Boca Chica, which again is no tropical paradise.

There are numerous other beach towns going west from Santo Domingo (bani and others) and going further east from Santo Domingo (Juan Dolio, La Romana and others). Juan Dolio has a nice beach, but it is not tropical paradise quality.

In Samana, there are several nice beaches, Playa Rincon and others. No hotels on Playa Rincon.

Las Terrenas is relatively quiet with a semi-paved road that runs along a part of the beach there.

Other members I am certain can recommend other places.

It will be easier to find the tropical paradise than finding a non-pro woman who will not want a family eventually.
You want a non-pro who will want to be your lover without eventually a real relationship or a family?
Better to stay with pros, because no one will be lying to the other, and no one's dreams or heart will be broken. Play with the pros until you are tired of just sex and want a little bit more.
Speaking only about the Dominican Republic, get as far away from the tourist areas as possible.
Go to the Samana peninsula, at the eastern end of the island.
Go to Las Terrenas. There is enough of a European community there to make you feel at home. (Italians, French, German, etc). And you will be more likely to find "normal" women, rather than pros.
Treat the women with some courtesy, respect and afffection (unlke the local men) and they will come to you, and they will treat you like a king.
I sometimes wonder why Gauguin went to Tahiti instead of the DR.

I agree with suggestions about going to Las Terrenas. I have been there and it is a beautiful idyllic beach resort, with some interesting trips available in the area.

I think finding the girl is a bit trickier, not that it is impossible, but just that one only finds a good partner for several days by trial and error, so the chances of finding the first girl fitting the bill are slight. Also I am not sure if you speak good Spanish. You could look for a girl on one of the Web sites for girlfriends or Adultfriendfinder and just tell her straight up exactly what you are looking for and that it is strictly cash for a single vacation romance. Maybe it would work.

Several of my friends have had success meeting both regular as well as Semi-Pro chicas on Dominican Cupid, and amigos.com!

You could easily hire a cute chica in Sosua and take her on "vacation" away from her work environment to Cabarete, which is only 10 minutes away if you need to swap!

good luck

I sometimes wonder why Gauguin went to Tahiti instead of the DR.My first trip to DR found me with a local 20yo, non-pro, absolutely beautifil. I spent 2 days with her into September. Did not make any promises and also frequented the Casa's before and after I met her. I returned in November with 4 buddies and went on a pussy rampage for 5 days. I then remembered I had the home phone number of the local regular girl. I called her and had 2 days of absolute heaven. During the 2 days I found out that she had been robbed of her pocketbook earlier in November. I wanted to give her some money (which she refused) so I bought her a cell phone to replace the one that was stolen from her bag, and bought some clothes for her kid. Before I left I did give her some money.

I was asked to talk to call her daily, which I did almost daily. She had gotten sick during the month of Dec (I sent her flowers) For xmas I sent a gift basket to her and her family. I sent small presents to her and her daughter.

She called me on my birthday with her and her family on the line. I returned in Jan and got my brains fucked out of me. During that time her sister got real sick (from an illegal abortion) and was in the hospital. She told me to stay in the hotel while she went to take care of her sister, I said no I'll come along.

This is just the kind of guy that I am, I won't leave someone in need of help. This made her love me even more, most guys Dominican or otherwise would probably not have done this.

Later that week I was invited to their house for my birthday dinner, where she bought me a handmade bracelet as a present. That trip cost me some lingerie, a winnie the pooh decorative plate (approximately $75 dollars of gifts).

I returned on the week of Valentines day where we went to a resort in Juan Dolio. She wanted to go to a clinic early in the week for a health check for the both of us. (she wanted to have sex au natural) We both came back clean. She had started to take birth control "just for me" needless to say it was a fantastic week. I bought some jewelry for her and a digital camera (approximately $350 with the doctor visits and test)

During this visit, 2 things happened in her family that really upset her and she told me I should get another girl because she is having too many problems and she doesn't want to ruin my vacation. I did not bail and things only got better.

March comes and I am in DR again for her. No problems with her family this time, every time I visited I was introduced to more and more family members. I was invited to stay at her house, everyday she cooked me breakfast and nights we stayed home she made me dinner (fantastic cook). Her sister started to refer to me as her brother in law, and being introduced as her casi-marido (almost husband). Her daughter started getting attached to me, her niece etc. That's were I started to back away just a little. The cost outside air and car rental. Food for the house, small gift for her maybe $200 for the total week.

April came by, more attachment. Stayed at her house again, bought food for the house, flowers for her (I got caught talking to another girl) Very little money spent.

Early May was her birthday, the whole family was at her house for the actual day. Before her birthday, I stayed at her house. On her birthday I took the family out for dinner Adrian Tropical (about $200), bought her some gifts $100, bought her niece a $30 cell phone (also her Bday) met the dad, cousins, aunts, grandmother. Was continually asked when we are getting engaged (yikes). Since she is in college I said we should wait until she is finished in 2 years. (buy me some time)

Late May, I'm back again start feeling and very guilty about stringing her along. I make some comments about the possibility of not getting married that don't go over well.

Early June the first night together she feels that I'm using her, second night no sex, third night sex with condoms, last night with her we have sex and the next day she decides I'm using her and she doesn't want to be my girlfriend anymore. I felt relieved at this and disappointed at the same time.

I still keep in touch with her neice and her sister, but my playing around with a normal girl hurt her, me, her family etc.

Damn I miss the sex.

I am prepping for my upcoming trip. Jetblue from New York, 89 dollars each way, non stop flights. 130 dollars in taxes, total round trip price 311. Jetblue allows only one checked luggage bag, a second bag will probably cost an extra 20 dollars each way. Jetblue wants an extra 40 dollars each way, for seats that have an extra 4 inches of legroom.

I bought a refurbished sandisk fuze mp3 player (plays music and videos) at newegg.com for around 25 dollars. I installed a 4gb micro sd card into it. Good player. I use realplayer to add songs to it.

Free program to download videos from you tube: http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/

Good program, you can copy and paste the link for the youtube video you want, or just open the program when you have the youtube page open and the link will appear in you tube downloader. Nice thing about this program is that after it has downloaded the video, it gives you an option to convert the video into a different video format. I believe all you tube videos are in flv video format, which most mp3 players cannot play. With the you tube downloader program it will convert the video it downloaded into various formats, which you can then use to play on most mp3 players.

I can also the add the downloaded videos using realplayer so that they appear as music (no video) on my mp3 player.

Downloaded some Spanish music videos (the chicas in the hotel room can watch them) I'll also burn some music cd's for the car. One group that I like is Omega. They have a few hit songs including Chambonea. This is a link for the video of them performing at Carnaval in La Vega. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKwNnC30APM

Sometimes the song is better when I don't understand the words. In this song he sings about having a laser from a gun aimed him, but that the guy with gun, will not pull the trigger.

I bought a pair of sunglasses with polarized lenses, made by the company Native. The polarized lenses really make a difference when driving in bright sunlight, the clarity is greatly improved. These have vents so it helps them not to fog up. I bought them at rei outlet. http://www.rei.com/outlet/

I'll download an audio book from audible.com to listen to on the plane or what often happens while listening to the audio book it puts me to sleep on the plane. One book I listened to was the story of the whale ship Essex. True story about a large sperm whale that sunk a whale ship from Nantucket, while the ship was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Herman Melville had worked on Whale Ships and he was familiar with this story when he wrote "Moby Dick".

Hopefully, I'll meet up with a few other members from this board next week in Dominican Republic.

My first trip to DR found me with a local 20yo, non-pro, absolutely beautifil. Great story and tells the story of a thousand other guys as well.
Numerous guys after reading this, are remembering their own experience.
Like I said; I recommend sticking with the pro-chicas until you're readdy for a "normal" girl. No lies, everyone knows the deal, and no one gets hurt.

But its the greatest thing in the world (for a while) isn't it?

One last thing I will do before my trip is go to the bank and get at least one hundred, one dollar bills. Often times in Dom Rep, I only have have 100 peso bills, which depending on the situation is too much of a tip. With the dollar bills I can gave one dollar or two dollars for small tips.

What makes you think she wasn't a pro? If a woman just meet a guy and have sex with him, she must very comfortable doing that. As a Latino I can tell you that it takes time just to break through the barrier of a Latina's panty with your finger, leave alone your dick.
There's a lot of ego play in these "stories" here, like in : "she fucked me right after we met because I'm irresistible, not because she's a puta".
As a foreigner, you will never find a normal girl in a foreign country unless you live there and go to the right places.
Forget the ego thing and enjoy the putas!

...if you wanna play it safe, don't come back home with any ladies' contact information. I speak Spanish fluently and I can tell you that you'll be missing nothing by throwing away in the trash can, on your way to board your plane, that little piece of paper with her phone number and email address. The only thing they're good for requires close proximity, unless you're one of those sickos who jack-off while talking to women on the phone, in that case, I'm not talking to you.
Guys, let's be real here, that young, hot, third contry world puta is not going to fall in love with us. No matter what she tells you, she has a low life scum in her country leeching from her. That money you give to her, goes right to him. Enjoy her and don't feel guilty about a thing, you're not responssible for the situation she is in.
This is personal experience, don't feel sorry, don't try to help. All help comes from within!
Being there, done that. No bitter, just wiser. Life's good!

Like I said, I bought food for the house when I was there but she was making most of my meals for me so that's the least I could do. Every time she had a family crisis (which seemed like alot) she could have hit me up for some cash. She never did, the whole time I was trying to figure out her angle, when I finally realized she didn't have one.

Anyway, my buddy that opened the bar called me last night and said someone from the forum stopped by with 2 friends. He was grateful for the business, please post reviews so I can give him feedback.

Thanks

The one thing I hate about going on a trip to the DR is coming back and immediately starting to plan my next trip to the DR. I think it gets to be an addiction.

Anyway, I have a question for you New Yorkers or others familiar with the JFK airport. I am looking at pricing on flights, and leaving out of JFK to STI looks like a pretty good deal right now. I have the ability to drive to the NY area on business, park my car for transfer to JFK and retrieve it when I return.

My question is two fold.

First, is there a reasonably priced "park and fly" location near JFK?

Second, is there a nearby hotel that provides a shuttle to JFK and has free extended parking if you stay there on at least one leg of the trip?

There may be other options and I am more than open to them. I looked at flying to JFK and that remains an option, but in my case driving and working business in with my pleasure would be something very do-able.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations. By the way I have time, my next trip is anywhere from Oct to early Dec. timeframe. Like I said, I start planning my next trip almost immediately after my last.

There is no such thing as FREE parking in NYC, discounted for the nights you stay, maybe.

You can find "reasonable" parking in Howard Beach with a FREE bus shuttle to JFK, or take the Airtrain ($5).

This map should help.

Good news for DR mongers. It seems that it's cheaper to get laid due to the recession http://blog.erotic-vacation.com/

I always thought that these mongering packages were overpriced given the amount of monger hotels on the island. Now prices are more in line with what you can find on your own.

Anybody out there have any recent pics of the lineup at BB's? I'm planning a trip at the end of this month and wondered who's still there? Haven't been in about a year and just wanted to know what to look forward to.

Also, please advise of any changes in prices (Cost of girls and cab fare to BB from POP), services, etc. That might be handy?

Last question, whats the lowdown on LaPassions in Sousa, girls look okay on website, is it worth the visit there while in the DR just for something different, or would FOD be a better choice for a day trip? It's not either/or. FoD is on your direct route to Sosúa from Barba Negra and is best visited in the afternoon and early evening, winding down around 10.00pm. Passions is open all afternoon and until midnight but at its liveliest from around 9.00pm (as is the rest of the strip). So you can conveniently visit both in one outing.

The times I am talking about is between 4:00pm and 6:00pm, often guys are returning from a day at the beach and want to relax for a bit at Passion before getting ready for the nights festivities.

Also in my book, Passions is at it's best when there are a lot of guys in house, because the chicas tend to get more excited the more guys that are there, of course this is understandable, since the more guys the more potential to make money.

As far as in the evenings I personally have found it hit or miss after 9:00 pm, sometimes it is great, when a large group that know each other decide to visit together. Often times I have found it dead as guys are at their places relaxing, and/or gearing up for the festivities in the disco later that night.

Either way enjoy.

On reflection I must agree you are probably right about this.

But Captain Bill could still fit FoD and Passions into a single day's outing.

How's this for a program?
1) 2.00pm to 4.00pm on Sosúa Beach at Siempre Sol.
2) 4.15pm to 6.15pm at La Passion
3) 7.00pm to 10.00pm (or whenever it gets too quiet) ar Field of Dreams
4) By 10.30pm tucked up in bed at Barba Negra with a mug of warm milk and the latest John Grisham paperback (or whatever).

If you do a search in google, airport parking JFK, you might be able to find some coupons for a few places for long term parking, that can save you a few bucks. I used the Port Authority long term parking at JFK one time, I believe it was 15 dollars per day. From that long term parking lot to the terminal at jetblue was about a ten minute ride on the airtrain, plus another ten minutes waiting for the train. The airtrain is free within the airport, it also goes to the where the rental cars are located and also goes to Jamaica Station, where you can get the Long Island Railroad into New York City. I recently did that.

If you take the airtrain from a terminal in JFK, to Jamaica station (LIRR) the cost is 5 dollars and you pay when you are off the train in Jamaica station (they have vending machines that accept credit cards, atm cards and cash, you buy a metrocard for 5 dollars and you put it into a machine with two small gates, that open and allow you to exit). If you will be using the Long Island Railroad to go into the city, I paid 5.75 for the 20 minute trip at 4:00am (a combination LIRR and metrocard ticket to pay for the airtrain and LIRR, can be purchased from some vending machines there). Appears to me the trains on the LIRR run all night from Jamaica station to Penn Station (34th street and 8th Avenue).

I saw a few hotels located very near to the airport.

The bus takes an hour to 90 minutes or so to PP and another half hour or 40 minutes to Caberete. Traffic conditions vary.

The road is not bad by DR standards on this stretch but gets much worse after Caberete. If you drive in the DR at all this is not a bad trip, but driving in the DR in general is often difficult/stressful (but some posters arenot bothered at all).

Does anyone know how long the drive is from Santiago to Puerto Plata or Cabarete? How are the roads? Is that even a good idea? The main road from Santiago to Puerto Plata is in good condition (one spot that has some potholes). Generally one lane each direction. Good number of twists and turns and some up and down spots. I believe the distance from Santiago to Puerto Plata is about 36 miles. Late at night with no traffic, you can do it in a little more thirty minutes. Not recommended to travel super fast at night, as some dogs and cats will sometimes venture onto the road. Also at night some motoconchos without lights. Also at night many drivers in Dom Rep drive with their high beams always on, so occassionally the high beams from other drivers will blind you. During the daytime the road has slowing moving trucks, so during the daytime the ride will take longer.

There is also a mountain road from Santiago to Puerto Plata, make the right off of Avenida Sadhalla Estrella where the edificio Hache (building with the words Hache near the roof) and that road will lead you to the mountain road. The mountain road is dicey, lots of turns, sometimes one lane is washed out, some places with no guardrails and a 500 foot drop to the side of the road. Pedestrians walk on that road, so you have to be careful.

From Puerto Plata to Cabarete the road is good, depending on traffic 45 minutes to an hour. After Cabarete the road is not terrible, I drove to Rio San Juan and Laguna gri gri, some potholes but nothing too terrible.

Passing slow moving trucks is the part of driving there that be can challenging. If you take it slow you will be fine.

Jaososua, great assessment of the trip form STI to POP. I have done the trip many times by car and the time can vary a lot depending on the traffic and the number and size of the trucks. One lane each direction makes passing an interesting experience. If you have never done the trip during the day the night experience can be a bit hard on the nerves. Motoconches without lights, locals walking on the side of the road, some cars etc. may not have very good lights....

As has been stated by many....take the extra insurance and remember that if you hit a car /truck / motoconch, or a person or if they hit you....you pay....if you speak no spanish but have someone with you that can translate....you pay...if you speak no spanish you pay more! Wear a seat belt. When I go out at night I take a cab if I will be drinking. It is just safer.

Just to add, if MexMale decides to drive either route, the street where you make that right off of Av. Sadhalla Estrella is Av. Bartomole Colon and when you cut thru the mountain it will put you right on the road to Puerto Plata a little past the town of Montellano about 10-15 minutes from Puerto Plata. I strongly advise not to take this route at night. When heading the long way to Puerto Plata keep heading north/west on Av. Sadhalla until the roundabout and head towards Navarette and make that right before the other large roundabout intersection and that will put you directly to Puerto Plata.

Now, if you are heading directly to Cabarette from Santiago, you should take the "Moca Route" thru the mountains, which will drop you in the next town after Cabarette called Sabaneta de Yasica, make that left and you will be about 15 or 20 minutes from downtown Cabarette. This route is a little tricky if you haven't done it before, so buy a map. Either you hit Moca from the autopista duarte past the airport or you'll enter Moca from Licey al Medio via calle duarte driving past the indoor mall and continuing past the large Ochoa.

Good Luck.

I usually rent with Alamo. Third Party Liability insurance is an extra 5 dollars per day. I also get the tire and windshield protection for an extra 3.75 per day.

I have attached some photos of some roads from my recent trip. Saw two accidents on the highway that connects Santo Domingo with Santiago. One involving 4 trucks. The second accident was on the way from Santiago, heading towards Santo Domingo. I think I saw in the news afterwards, that 4-5 people were killed. I saw two of the dead bodies hanging out of one vehicle. About twenty minutes after passing the accident with fatalities, the front right tire on my rental car went bad. The outer part of the tire separated completely along the sidewalls. Some guys on the side of the highway changed it for me and I gave them ten dollars.

I have had good experiences with Budget, although I have usually rented out of the POP airport.
Also, check your credit cards to see if any offer rental car in surance.
If so, use the credit card insurance to cover the rental vehicle, and pay for the extra insurance to cover third parties. It IS worth it.
I had an accident once, the credit card company did indeed cover it for me.
Drive very defensively. This is the only place I have seen where a damned motorbike will cut off a car and practically dare you to kill him. Make all turns or lane changes gradually, so the idiot passing on the wrong side or in some other
blind spot has time to react and get out the way.

In general, stick with the large national rental agencies, as you can count on some kind of service and you can take up any problems if any, with the company HQ when you get back. Can't do that with a local.

I am coming back to the North Coast in a couple months and I would like to stay in an apartment complete with bedrooms and a working kitchen for about 3 days. It would be just for the 2 of us, me and my novia as she wants our privacy and for me to experience some of her homtown Domimican cooking. I will be doing my usual playing the first few days of the trip by myself prior to ourgetting together at the apartment and then those last three days with her.

If anyone can point me to a resonable apartment to rent, complete with kitchen in the North Coast area (Confresi to Costambar to Puerto Plata to Sosua to Cabarette) I would greatly appreciate itl And so will the Novia. And when Mamma's happy, I am happy.

I stayed there for a month and had no problems and it is chica friendly.

One bit of advice I would offer is, maybe you don't want to rent an apartment in an area very close, to where you have mongered in the past. Walking around or being in a bar or restaurant with your current girlfriend and you might come across other chicas who you slept with on prior trips. If your current dominican girlfriend is freaky in sex, then it might not be a bad thing to stay very close to a mongering destination, where you could find another chica to do a threesome, hahaha (wishful thinking). Depends too, what you want to expose your dominican girlfriend to, while she is with you. If you go out at night with a normal dominican chica to classicos in Sosua, there is no doubt the normal dominican chica will figure out quickly what the scene is for in Sosua (pay for play), (not necessarily a problem, just depends on what you want to expose her to, while she is with you). I have taken "normal" (non-hardcore working chicas) dominican chicas to Classicos and had fun. Cabarete is more low key and many normal dominican chicas like cabarete.

I don't know cofresi or costambar. In Sosua, El Neptuno apartments are nice. Cabarete has several condominium complexes.

Since you are checking in with her up front you are free from needing a "Guest friendly" place and can stay anywhere. My favorite for pure location is Blue Bayou condos right in the heart of Sosua. On the cliff, with a beautiful pool, stairs cut into the coral rock down to the beach, spectacular ocean views west from your large balcony. Blue Bayou is down the dead end street next to Banco Popular. About $100 a night. Inverters only so BR AC goes out in apagons.

Hey Homey, if your girl would find the ambience in Sosua a little hard to deal with, I saw a really good review of the Portofino in Puerto Plata. It appeared to be a very nice place in a web check.

Also, if a small short-term condo rental in Sosua sounds good, contact me and I will pass you the name of a lady who manages a lot of short term condo rentals at a very reasonable rate.

Caution ATM SCAM in Caberette
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was in Caberette the other night and went to Banco populars ATM but it was out of money, just then a jeep pulls up(young guy and girl) and tells me not to worry Banco Santa Cruz across the street has money, so I drive over to Banco Santa Cruz (Not really thinking why would people who know Banco Santa Cruz's machine is working be at Banco popular????) I proceed to attempt to withdraw money and my card is withheld, There is a sign on atm to call a phone number, I call this number and I'm told that I could pick up my card at the bank on Monday morning, but i would have to leave the person on the other end of the phone my pin number,so they could deactivate my account. I realize this is now a scam and look down the road and guess who is parked in the dark???yes, same jeep who told me to goto this bank). I then hung up phone and beat the crap out of the machine till I was able to retrieve my card. Just a heads up to everyone out there.

I had a good experience recently with a US cell phone rental company.
Going overseas and need connectivity to the States/Europe/Canada?
For $20 US per week plus nominal per minute fee, they will rent you a cel phone with a US area code for those who need one.

A $20 startup fee includes return postage.
For those who need a number where they can be reached that shows a US area code and make calls back to the US/wherever, a very good deal.

All I know is that it served my purposes and was reasonably priced.
Its called cellhire.com.

Every ATM with money has a 24 h watchman with a shotgun. If your card is withheld go retrieve it when the branch is open. "beat the crap out of the machine"? - total BS. By the way one has to attempt a withdrawal only when a branch is open.

Thieves play with the ATM machines, they do it here in the states too. My bad experiences with ATM machines in the Dominican Republic, occurred when the machines gave me less money, than I requested, which forced me to try again, thus netting more transaction fees, for the banks involved. In my eyes this seemed more like a white collar crime, the banks programmed certain machines to give less than the requested amount.

What happened to me at several ATM machines is, when I put my card in the machine, entered my password and requested withdrawal, a screen pops up with 4 or 5 different amounts of money to withdraw ( for example: 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 pesos), on a few occasions I pressed the button adjacent to the amount for 2000 pesos and thereafter the machine gave me 200 pesos. Transaction fees are at least 4 dollars, so in that case I spent 4 dollars to receive less than six dollars. On another machine I pushed the button next to the amount for 2,500 pesos and the machine gave me 500 pesos. This happened to me in santo domingo and in moca.

What I do now is click other amount and I type in the amount I want. Usually if I type in the amount myself, the machine has given me the correct amount. I showed various Dominicans the problem with one ATM machine, including a guard and he said he could do nothing. Maybe some banks are programmed to do this only when a foreigner requests a withdrawal, I don't know.

This info is provided by travel.state.gov webpage,`a webpage from the US government to american citizens:

Travelers are also advised to minimize the use of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), which are present throughout Santo Domingo and other major cities. One local ATM fraud scheme involves sticking photographic film or pieces of paper in the card feeder of the ATM so that an inserted card becomes jammed. Once the card owner has concluded the card is irretrievable, the thieves extract both the jamming material and the card, which they then use. There are other ATM scams as well. Exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings when using an ATM card.

1. Always use ATM's during daylight Banking Hours (9am - 4pm; M-F)
2. Only use ATM's that are "Attached" to a Bank Branch (NO "Free-standing" Machines)
3. Use recognized names like: Scotia Bank, Banco Popular, Banc Reservas
4. In tourist areas (Sosua, Boca Chica, Punta Cana), always make sure that you see an armed Watchee Man (and that he sees you too)
5. Withdraw the Maximum Transaction Amount (generally RD$10,000+) to avoid excessive transaction fees
6. Avoid using ATM's on Weekends and on DR Holidays, because of higher rates, less available cash, and the higher chance of machine tampering
7. Be very aware of your surroundings and keep transaction time to a minimum (1 minute)
8. If you have the time, just walk-in and conduct your transaction with a bank teller. With a teller, you can specify the peso denominations (much better than getting stuck with 5 RD$2,000 notes)
