I don’t normally have time to write in forums but I’m so pissed off of what happened to me in Kama Sutra a week ago that I decided to warn as many people as possible. Obviously posting a thread here is the best I can do to ease my nerves a little.

So to the point - on my last visit in Sofia I went to Kama Sutra, a friend has told me the place is very cheap and fun so I decided to give it a try though I usually tend to visit more sophisticated venues. What a big mistake! First everything was ok, the prices were surprisingly low, the girls danced completely naked and I started thinking about taking a girl at my place for some action. After a while I made my choice – a tall, somewhat dark-skinned brunette with little breasts. I didn’t know who I need to ask what the rates are, I had great difficulties to draw the attention of the waitresses and my girl didn’t even looked at my waving. This situation started to irritate me and I thought about giving up the whole idea and going to another place where to be a costumer actually means something. Now I regret I didn’t follow my instincts and instead of leaving I waited for the waitress to come closer and literally shouted “excuse me”.

It worked just fine, she came to see what I wanted and after short negotiations I was happily arranged with my dark-skinned girl for an hour at my place. I explained to the guy who came out that one of his girls has robbed me and I insist for his assistance to receive my money back. While I was talking to him I felt that some regrouping of the bodyguards is taking place behind my back and when I looked over my shoulder I saw several big guys staring at me with still faces. The manager said that his girls are not offering sex to customers, he asked the waitress that I spoke with before, if she knows me and she denied, and after accusing me of lying he said that I better leave on my own or he’ll make the bodyguards help me find my way out. Then I tried to threaten him with calling the police but he wasn’t impressed much. His reaction made me think that maybe there’s some kind of cooperation between him and the authorities. None of my appeals or threats could lead to a reasonable resolution of my problem and after a hard time hour I was dragged out on the street by the big still-faced guys I mentioned above. I’d never felt so helpless, frustrated and full of rabid hate in my entire life. Again I had the urge to call the police but the lack of the reaction from the manager and the possibility that this story could reach my family and business associates made me give up the idea.

I hope that this accident will be lesson not only for me but to everyone who reads it!

I am visiting Sofia quite often and I ahve to admit that the scene is still very active and lively. I usually visit places like Kamasutra, Cleopatra (my favourite) and velvet. In general, I disagree with members complaining about the quality of the girls in such clubs.

There are quite a few so called "sex clubs" around Sofia which are essentially bordels (*****houses) with very average to ugly looking women. You pay 25 Euros for an hour, or you can take them with you. These houses also function as escort delivery services.

I went to Sofia, Bulgaria for the 1st time this past weekend. I have to say I had a great time! I checked into the Radino Hotel (runs about 65 Euro a night). All of them are "girl friendly" and most of them are somewhat more expensive than the Rodina. The incident that you experienced you can find in all the hotels - it is nothing to worry about. The reception would just take a note of the girl's ID and if you booked a single room they would probably charge you for a guest. In most hotels it is a good idea to book a double room if you intend mongering. Slipping the security guy a note is a good way round this.

However you probably would not have had this problem had you gone to the night club on the top floor of the Rodina and taken one of the girls there. However quality may be issue.

I went on a strip bar tour the other night and here are my comments for you all:

Kamasutra - 1st stop. Lots of girls dancing nude on the poles, very reasonable prices for drinks. They follow quite a different business model here. You have to ask for a girl to come - they don't come and sit next to you. Downside is that this place was a c**kfest (at least 60 guys which made the M:F ratio about 6:1. I could not keep thinking that any woman I chose would have been with at least 5 guys that night, some of which looked pretty disgusting. So I just left.

I have been in Sofia several times, since I travel there for business. My last trip was in November and I have to admit that the scene has not changed a bit in the last couple of years. It is a lucky choice and you have to act smart as everywhere in the world. I will try in the following lines to sum up the situation in Sofia, as I have experinced it and from my one perspective.

Taxi Drivers

First of all you need to avoid taxi drivers. They will either drive you to a place that you can already find by yourself, or they will lead you to some swanky "sex club" that you wish you have never been there ever. Of course things change if the driver is someone you know and you can trust. Then you will be presented with marvelous gems of Bulgarian beauty. If lucky, at best scenario a totally stranger taxi driver might show you the way to some of the "good" establishments like contessa and bohemy agency and will of course grab a comission from themselves.

Night Clubs

Avoid Taboo and playboy club. these establishment are rip-offs and you will spend over 400 Euros to get a girl out. Be suspicious, they are always empty and they will greet you as if you are the most frequent customer. Girls usually are pretty but nothing to die for at the relevant price.

Cleopatra, Velvet, Kamasutra are probably overrun by the same group of enterpeneurs. the mentality of the club seems to be the same, with some girls usually the preetiest acting only as dancers and the rest available to go out. The price for 1h with a girl at your hotel or the back room is 100Lv or 110Lv respectively. Here it applies the golden rule of the earlier the bette, cause you will have a larger and fresher selection that might better suite your taste. I have been in those clubs many times and I have seen some real gems available to go out. however the usual level is average.

Once only a girl that appeared to be a dancer only, changed her mind and decided to go out with me. I suppose she was short in cash and I thing that the status of their behaviour varies daily. Most likely the girls prefer not to work as escorts and are not motivated at all when they do so. Usually they appear to be dead bored and perform really mechanical sex. Unless you succeed and are you "allowed" to turn them on.

Agencies.

Contessa, Eurolove, bohemy, Realxxx etc. In some hotels you will find their phone numbers in a Sofia lifestyle magazine they supply in the room. Otherwise look in the pages of this forum. I have a very controvertial opinion on this establishments. Generally I have experienced good sessions with these phone numbers. I have been once succesful in Sofia with a girl but that was not to count as a frequent phenomenon.

Just back from a trip to Sofia.

I would recomend anyone to pick up a cpoy of "Sofia City" its a free city guide you can pick up at any hotel or tourist office.

In the nightlife section there is names and address's of many agencies, and its in English.

I called to 3 place's, all around the centre and close to the apartment i rented for a week.

There are few posts here regarding the possibilities of meeting the club girls privately and thoughts about why they seem reluctant. Of course they are not allowed to but why wouldn't they risk it for such an obvious economical upside?

Someone suggested here below that there is a 50/50 split of the fee between the girl and the club. I actually think the club takes a lot more and out of the 300 lev for 5 hours, I think the girl only gets like 50-100. So the economical upside for private meetings is quite serious.

Reason number one is obviously safety. In a private meeting the girl doesn't have any back-up so they are definately concerned about safety. You shouldn't expect a girl to consider a private meeting until having met you quite a few times.

Reason number two is then simply the employment. They usually work 6 nights a week and if they don't show up they lose the deal. Asking for a private meeting means they have to sacrifice their only free night, given that their free night happens to fit your schedule. Calling in sick or something is quite risky as the word gets around - in particular if you're staying in a hotel. Same risk applies if they are "working" on their free nights.

I've actually once gotten to the stage to get a girl to accept to meet privately. This was after three all-nighters with over a period of time. She gave me a phonenumber, which was in order, I later called her on that number. But when in Sofia next time and trying to reach her, the phonenumber was out of service. I can only confirm several of the previous posts that the situation at KS and the other bars has become quiet bad during the weekends. They are totally full, and the better girls are taken unless you get there early (before 11). Also, I have the feeling that the girls are not trying to please you as hard as before since it has become a seller's market. I think this is the better place to go in the week end because it is out of the heart of the city center so less crowded.

arrived a sofia airport terminal 1 with easyjet from london on boxing day xmas 2007.

my luggage did not arrive:

booked into the rodina hotel for my 4 night stay.

a bit depressed about losing my luggage but had to get on with it, was told should be here in 1 or 2 days.

I travel in Sofia quite often so I believe I have as updated information as possible. No need to mention that the triangle of success in Sofia stripclubs is Kamasutra, Cleopatra, Velvet, while Taboo and playboy used to be and still are ripoffs. The usual price there (CLeopatra etc) for taking a girl out in all three clubs used to be 100BGN/hour (app 50EUR). However, since the end of last year prices have increased to 120BGN/hour (app 60EUR). Despite that things are pretty clear, you pay the amount to the manager and have the girl at your Hotel or in the back room for an additional 20BGN.

In the other two ripoff clubs girls promised to deliver "everything" in private rooms just keeping you consuming expensive lady drinks and private dances.

When I was in Cleopatra in December (things get very packed there nowadyas) they had a girl that asked to perform a dance to me (quite arrousing one) and during that she proposed to go back to the room for private time (no sex). When I aked her about sex she said that she is only a "dancer" but she would do an exception for me if I paid her 200EUR / hour and of course did not say enything to the manager. The whole story sounded quite suspicious to me and refused. I also got the impression that Cleopatra had already started mimicking the prictices of Taboo and Playboy or Fetish ripoff clubs. However, I considered the incident unique and did not pay any further attention.

Since January 2008, I visited Sofia twice. First time I was very busy and had no time to go to the clubs. However the second time I visited again the famous triangle and also tried to get some girl out. In Kamasutra girls that I new were willing to go out till the end of 2007 are pretending now to be only dancers. Others that would be available, could only go in the room at the back and are not free to leave to the hotel. Of course some girls are also available for outcalls but less than before. Later on I visit Velvet, quality of girls is by far below average, I finish my drink and leave early. Finally Cleopatra, where first of all I get again the impression of a change plus I find another girl, tryning to drag me to the private room for (no sex) session. Eventually I try to call the manager to assist me with which of the girls would be willing do an outcall and I get the reply "Sorry, Mister, You talk girl, I give no information). Of course this means that in order to talk to the girl you need to buy her a drink (expensive) or get a private dance. Only to find out at the end that she is not available for sex and she is only a "dancer"

I was really diappointed and left. Outside a driver proposed to take me to a tour at the privats (vip, contessa, bohemy etc) where you could find something interesting. I agree we go to a couple of them I choose on girl and I get the price of 170BGN non negotiable, when it used to be between 75-100 last year.

I would like other fellow members who have visited Sofia recently to share with the rest of us their recent experiences. Did they observe similar behaviour or any change since last year. I hope that night I had was only a sequence of unlikely events and that things are back o normal.

I am really looking forward to comments others.

I visited Sofia over the last few days and I have to say that I'm a tad disappointed, not just with the striptease clubs but with the scene more generally. Of course, adding to my predicament, I relied almost totally on two lists both of which turned out to be totally useless: one listing the "sex clubs" (massage parlours etc.) downloaded from a "visit Bulgaria" site; another written by myself taking down the phone numbers of about 15 escort girls from www.all-bgescort.com. Further to this later.

On my first evening I was dirt tired and just wanted a quick look at the (in)famous Luvov Most (Lion Bridge) and Maria Luiza street before going to sleep. I have to say that juding from older postings on this thread on would think that this part of Sofia is littered with street walkers, jostling for one's custom. Not so! (Have all the cheap girls been trafficked abroad?) The largest number of girls I saw at any one point in time was four, only two of whom moderately attractive. But, on the first evening I came across a slim, young woman - very dark skinned but apparently no Gypsy. She wanted 50 lev for F&S plus 10 for the hotel. OK, I accepted. Inside the room, she tried to unzip my fly and begin a BJ with her fully dressed and me with my trousers on half mast. I told her, no way, and got into a lengthy argument. Contessa was one of the sex clubs on my first list, but it appeared under another street number. For the record, it's 16, ul. Vitosha - and I was beginning to wonder whether my list had been edited by the Marx brothers!!! I jerked the bellpull and climbed the stairs. The club was well staffed with some 8 girls on selection. Was in Sofia yesterday. Forget about "Lvov Most": not much happening there. Priamos is right that many clubs have moved: my favourite with the red bell button left as well: the button is now black and an additional paper warns that it is a "consulting company", so I did not ring it. Just came back from a 5 months stint in Sofia. Great up & coming town with many opps for a monge to explore, though keep in mind that most of the joints here are run by what are considered "thick necks".

Actually three nightclubs within walking distance of it. I never encountered any problem bringing girls back, though it was always late into the night ofcourse. Alright, so I got here at noon with an awesome reception. Our hosts met us with a drop-dead gorgeous girl as our driver and another who checked us in at the airport. It was a great start. Had the opportunity to breeze through Sofia recently and thought it worthwhile to follow the advisories here and to update on what was happening.

Dropped into several of the recommended with mixed results.

There have been some changes in pricing structure from those posted earlier that are worth noting before heading out with Leva.

Checked on Digital's Kama Sutra for something old, was determined to look in on Cleopatra’s as something new and then again, the club a few numbers own from the Radisson, the Tabu club, I believe, which turned out to be something blue.

The pricing structure as advised in this thread was fairly simple. Take out of the club - or, in some cases with rooms in the club for a consistent 100 leva an hour for the first and following hours. Just multiple the hours required x 100. Add 10 or 20 Leva for an hour in the rooms "outback" for an hour.

There has been a recent "price adjustment" which both Kama Sutra and Cleopatra have introduced which caused some disappointment since Digital "took me in hand" - in the nicest and non-Gay way to show me the Sofia ropes and his beloved kama Sutra. Hope you are well Digital.

The bad news is that both Kama Sutra and Cleopatra's managers now require the first hour to be paid as Leva 200 !! A hefty 100% increase. Following hours are still 100 Leva. It was more than a bit of shock to here this on entering Cleopatra for the first time.

Cleopatra itself was surprising. The decor was in keeping with the name, but the girls present were also surprising. of 14, on the Excess scale they were valued as 7-8 lower to mid 'A' team. The rest but 2 mid to mostly upper 'B' Team. The 2 were lower B team. This to Excess' way of thinking a great score for the Team. I was very impressed.

Decent lighting, not quite as good as Kama Sutras made it easy to search for imperfections of which there were few. Most dancers had visual interaction which is nice. Several came over for interviews immediately. Very nice.

A waitress was much too quick in arriving for lady drink orders which was annoying and dampened the mood. When I inquired about the pricing structure, mentally ready to hear the previous numbers, I was shocked. No rooms were available on-site, I was told.

So, as an ISG'er who feels that no matter if one can afford it or not, in the interests of solidarity that liberties taken over pricing are a serious matter, I opted to the surprise of the waitress and at least one of the ladies to move off after a 10 leva drink with a comment about rising prices. There was a tinge of sadness but one must, I thought, be firm.

So, it was on to something else new – Tabu club.

Very impressive room. About 15 ladies spread about on plush sofas.

Entered was greeted by a manager and then escorted to a sofa. It was insisted that I not sit where I was headed but to sit on another sofa that was occupied by 2 ladies. The first sign that Taboo might not be the kind of place that Excess likes to visit.

The two ladies were Ukrainian. Not terribly impressive. Mid B Team. I suggested one sit with the other beside me as I didn’t really like to have one either side, meaning that a) I couldn’t enjoy looking at both of them at the same time and b) one would be out of sight at one moment or the other.

English was Ok, but as they didn’t appeal, wasn’t interested to take the conversation very far other than some preliminary questions and kidding. The waitress also very soon arrived for drink orders for the Ladies – plural. I asked what the structure was and was assured that it was very simple – a bottle of champagne was the standard. Price – only 200 Leva.

It didn’t take but a moment to decline. “I wouldn’t want to buy the lovely ladies a drink?” Errr no thanks. As the only Customer – guess the Radisson was still in meetings, I also wasn’t sad to hear that the ladies can only sit with you for Company if you are buying them “a Drink”. Stifling my sadness, I agreed to allow the ladies to slink off to another sofa together to wait their prey. Still no other guests on the scene.

After awhile, another Ukrainian arrived, but solo. The first move at Tabu is to sit you between 2 ladies and hit you for the champagne. Spotted around the club were other pairs waiting.

The Ukrainian who arrived at least had something of a polished patter. Would be delighted to be my guide and show me the place after sitting and drinking. The rooms outback were “magnificent” and she would be excited to accompany me to one of them. Sounded better.

Price for such guiding service? “Let’s talk about it after getting to know each other ‘much better’. And price for dinks? “Oh- a lovely bottle of champagne about 200 Leva I think?”

“I will have the waitress bring us one”. Not to bother, I said, I was going to move on – without being guided to one of the lovely rooms she mentioned. She feigned shock at the idea of leaving, but I was firm. Paid for my 10 Leva drink and headed back up the stairs.

While the Tabu club may appeal to a certain type of Visiting Firemen who are averse to having to take a cab from the Radisson, it does not include Excess who did not think that he needed to look in again. Color it “Blue”.

That left something, Old.

Quite looking forward to the Kama Sutra. Paid the usual 5 Leva entry fee and headed down the stairs and onto one of the sofas middle of the 3 central poles for dancing. Rather expected to look over beside me to see Digital enjoying himself, but alas it was not to be.

Mostly ‘old faces’ dancing and in the club meaning they were known faces. All Bulgarian girls.

Surprised to see that the standard at KS was very much below Cleopatra. Here as before, mid to upper B Teamers. No A Teams at all. More than a few low B’s.

After spending a happy hour or two drinking and watching, had an old friend come by to chat and have a drink. She is also known to Digital and asked after him. Recent price increase due to the high inflation rate in Bulgaria, was the answer. I said that I didn’t think that this would help the inflation rate by raising the first hour price by 100%.

Mentally, also added the usual 30 Euro charge added by Hotel reception in Sofia to have a visitor come by the room for an hour or overnight. The guests’ ID card is demanded by the hotel to record as well.

After a few moments of reflecting on the ladies of Cleopatra decided to take Marianna out as she was at least known and settled on 2 hours.

Off to the Hotel, the check in routine and into the room. Showered and got settled on the bed with Miss M. On a previous encounter Miss M. had proven to be diligent however, CBJ was required during several good sessions and no DFK and minimal K. . Reflected on how the Sofia girls were very limited in their offerings in country but once in FKK land – Bulgarians fell into line immediately with DFK and BBBJ to compete. Strange and also the sliding standards in Prague were also disappointing for the same reasons.

Note. Guest drinks remain at Leva 10 for most and the Leva 5 as well.

Added Note: Almost all Hotels seemingly enforce the registration of guests arriving at any hour from the evening on. A legal issue and 'for the protection of our guests'. To which the add, a Euro 30 or Euro 20 surcharge to your bill for which you sign as they register the guest. Difficult to by-pass.

The Radisson being one of the very few that does not do this, but then there is the very near-by Tabu club to contend with.

Extra Note for Digital Your Miss M. seems to have been stepped off the stage for good at KS.

Extra Note. Clubs in Sofia open around 9:30 - 10:00 pm and remain open 'till 5 in the morning. Ladies can be taken out or to the rooms if open at any time from opening.

Excess, you paint a very dismal picture of Sofia. If even Mariana is starting to charge extra for what used to be part of the package, and that on top of a quite outrageous price increase, methinks it's time to move on. A quick report following my one and only evening in Sofia a couple of weeks ago.

Based on the reports (and geographic proximity) I went to KamaSutra for a look. I am not used to strip clubs but felt immediately comfortable. The place isn't big but you feel at ease.

The entrance fee is negligeable and the drinks are cheap, WITH ONE EXCEPTION: getting a Martini for one of the dancers will cost you 30 Lei, which is outrageous if you compare to what you would pay.

The spectacle of girls gyrating and strutting their stuff was fun for a while but its obvious this is their routine and only a couple were really into what they were doing.

as a newbie to this particular forum here’s my first posting aimed especially for anyone who might be considering visiting sofia for the first time.

here i have tried to put things in perspective like the price of hotels, girls, locations etc.

any way, i hope you find it helpful.

sofia as a good mongering destination is still, it seems, getting mixed reviews.
some claim it’s now become too expensive with typical high london/europe prices and not much street action, (or) not much street action but still a good selection of girls and still reasonably cheap if you know where to look. but bulgarian women in general, most of us would agree, are quite something.

with 3 visits starting in 2007 now under my belt and another trip already planned to see in this new year, i agree with the last two comments adding if i may ‘sexy’ and ‘highly ‘fuckable’ and if we start comparing sofia to places like amsterdam or hamburg then i tend to agree too that sofia does not have much street action.
what little there is of it – very seedy - and also in my opinion can be quite dodgy too is around the lion bridge in front of the lion hotel and crossing the road, around the sun hotel. this is typical get-your-wallet-stolen street gypsy territory and even if you did meet a reasonable good looking one who was not a junkie or looked like one, it is doubtful anyway that you would get her past the hotel doormen. the other option of course is renting an apartment in the centre. i’ll come back to that later.

so what’s the attraction? you might ask, why not go to nearer places like prague or budapest? well, thankfully having not joined the dreaded euro yet and bulgaria will not join until at least 2012; and being one of newer countries to join the eu, accommodation entertainment and food and drink in bulgaria’s capital still remains wonderfully inexpensive, in fact around a third of what you would pay in london and that includes taxis including a standard 10 lev fare on the meter for the 6 miles ride from the airport into the center of town. just a pity the same can’t be said about golden sands on the black sea which was ruined (practically overnight) when bulgaria officially joined the european union and prices doubled.

and dare i say it too in these politically correct times but if you enjoy a cigarette or cigar with your drink, meal or coffee then in sofia you are in paradise. add to this classy bars that open late together with exceptionally beautiful women, that actually are quite approachable, now rather than later is the time to visit.

still, whether picked up from the street or in a bar, my personal preferences when playing away has firstly always been with freelancers for as well as being the cheaper option, generally i have found the girl working alone will do everything you ask for, for no extra charge, and will usually stay with you longer and it is for this reason that i have clocked up more than a few kilometres of exploring (usually on foot) sofia city’s darker nooks and crannies.

as well as the mentioned luvov most (lion bridge) area which gets busier at night, by day – meaning from mid afternoon to early evening - i’ll share the following;
try the small clutter of bars by the travel agents and tacky souvenir shops across the road from the central railway station. (mainly rough looking gypsies.) two offered me a twosome for 50 lev each but as they wanted me to go back to their room which i was too scared to do and because i was too scared to bring them back to my hotel i am still yet to sample the delights of that naughty bulgarian gypsy girl with a dirty mind and a glint in her eye.

warning though, walking around the train station area late at night is not recommended, nor is the stochna gara roundabout (renowned curb crawling territory) 10 minutes walk along slivnitsa blvd from the lion hotel.

or

try the area around the mosque off maria luiza blvd and crossing over, the streets behind the old market hall close to scotty’s hotel.

here i have picked up the same girl twice. her name is pronounced linya, black curly hair 30 years old and putting on a few pounds but still in shape and gives good service. usually hangs around with two others (blonde hair dyed). linya basically does everything you ask for, for 2 hours for 60 lev and last time i bought her dinner afterwards and she only took 50 lev.

or

the bars and cafes in the park gardens and squares from the national theatre all the way towards the alexander nevsky cathedral. as well as being a nice pleasant walk any way, have got eye contact and occasional smiles from the girls in this area sitting alone usually on the park benches. picked up a very sexy and cute 19 year old romanian girl with light brown hair and glasses outside the russian church and had a sort of gf experience buying her an ice cream and coffee first. no full sex that time, just a blow job with her topless which again cost me 50 lev and another few good jerk offs afterwards!

or

try the part of the square in front of the sheraton hotel where the church is across the road from the happy bar & grill.

sections of the main ring road outside sofia is another pick up place and has had lots of bad reports in the press but the fact that you would need a car of some description and be able to speak bulgarian is of little use even with prices starting from as low as 30 lev.

next up on the list but to slightly higher prices are the apartment girls who if they bother to advertise at all only advertise in the bulgarian cyrillic alphabet in the local newspapers.

here prices start from around 60/70 lev for the hour for foreigners and locals pay less.

the advantages of these places are that you can go for a quick lay in privacy and relative safety at any hour of the day like say 11 o’clock in the morning if you feel the need and you can choose your lady from usually a minimum of three, again depending on the time of day.

the main disadvantage is finding a knowledgeable taxi driver who you can trust to take you there and hope at the same time he’s not greedy with his cut or commission. personally if that person exists i have always been unlucky, for the only time i seem to get nice helpful taxi drivers is when i’m not mongering at night as a sex tourist. most of these girls do visit but still it’s not much use if you can’t read the newspaper adverts in bulgarian or communicate with them.

so from the freelances on the street to the ones in the bars:

in sofia, in every crowded bar or disco whether it’s a classy 5 star hotel or local tavern, providing the place is busy and packed there will be at the very least one freelancer at the bar trying to make eye contact. whats on listings will give you the latest ‘in’ places.

my two favourites at the moment from dozens of other choices is sin city on hristo botev and planet club on oborishte str where i have picked up some real beauties for around the 100 lev mark plus drinks and taxis etc for all night gf experience. be sociable, reasonably presentable and to some extent generous with buying the odd drink for friends too and see the rewards.

the much higher price option is of course the many ‘hotel visiting escort services’ who advertise in english in all the hotel ‘whats on’ guides. no matter how conservative, prim or proper your hotel might be they will guarantee discretion but at a price.

with prices starting at around 120 lev for one hour for local girls (currently half of what you would pay in london) or is now more the case – starting at around 120 euros for the crème del le crème, you are really paying for top ‘international’ model looks. but if you are going to spend this sort of money, take a tip from me of a great tip i was given and use the service to the full.

remember bulgarians are very liberal people and so will be the person taking the ‘fuck bookings’ on the other end of the phone. so when you ring up, instead of saying something like i want a nice blonde around 25 with large breasts to arrive in the next 30 minutes; as well as stating what you would like her to wear and what you would like her to look like also state what you would like her to do like anal, [CodeWord103] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord103), spanking for example and if it’s going to take that particular person a little longer, say around 2 to 3 hours to get to you so be it for there is nothing worse (and for me ) nothing more of turn-off when that ‘friendly’ person from the ‘best escort service in town’ starts dictating the ground rules like no touching here, no kissing there once you have handed your money over and she’s starting to undress. my worst experience of this was recently while in transit in budapest leaving me 150 euros out of pocket but thankfully while the service from the two escorts i’ve so far had in sofia from two different agencies have not been perfect, both have fully met my expectations both in looks and physique again at under half the price i would pay in london. also there’s something quite special wouldn’t you agree, while waiting in high expectation for that sweet music to your ears sound of a gentle knock on your hotel room door.

regarding accommodation and where to stay, in sofia it is still possible to find a good centrally located hotel starting from around 50 euros a night but like anywhere in the world location, location is the key. supposing you do screw up though, it still shouldn’t be too much of a problem as the taxis in the city are cheap and frequent to get you from a – b.

starting from the luxury top end, of the eight or so 5 star properties in sofia, surprisingly only 4 are located near enough to the centre to justify the higher room rates.

for comfort, larger than most beautiful standard rooms and a position right bang in the centre of sofia the grand hotel sofia couldn’t be in a better central location and even so, the room rates there are lower than both the radisson sas 10 minutes walk away and the sheraton (the most expensive property yet with smaller rooms) only 5 minutes walk from the grand.

if you are into smaller hotels, the luxury boutique style les fleurs on vitosha blvd is again more central than most.

whilst the hilton and the nearby kempinski hotel situated out near the suburbs on the lower slopes of mount vitosha require a taxi every time you set foot outside the door, the holiday inn which doesn’t even show up on some maps is probably the furthest 5 star hotel away from the centre.

most of sofia’s 5 star hotels may charge for overnight guests but this is still much a grey area. having just visitors to your room and providing they don’t leave the hotel too late at night should not be a problem as i’ve found at the radisson and grand hotel sofia, but there they charged me the full euro rate for a ‘breakfast’ in the morning my overnight guest did not have.

regarding sofia’s 4 star hotels, whilst the majority of them are quite central, most by western standards should only be classed as 3 star.

two of the exceptions, both tall and modern and deserving their respective 4 star rating with casino, indoor pool and the full works, the sofia princess and it’s twin sister the hotel rodina (and nightclub) on the other side of town to the west of the centre are just too far away from the action. both hotels though, do a great highly recommended (but with no extras) full body massage service for around 36 lev for 40 minutes and every time the masseuses have been young and stunningly beautiful including of note a very appealing gwen stefani look alike working at the princess.

as a place to stay though, here’s some more four-star hotel options:

the salt palace hotel slightly closer to the action on tri ushi str has nice rooms on par with any 5 star hotel; the larger best western city on stara planina str (close to the kama sutra club) is another popular choice as is the smaller ‘old worldly’ gloria palace hotel on maria luisa blvd.

however, most of the hotels right in the centre of sofia (that can be anything from a renovated large public building or house) are classed as three-star.

as the written guides might say, some have their own unique charm but others, i suspect, are rundown fucking depressing places to stay and i wonder how many people have done just that, as well as adding to their pain by not having done any research first on their trip.

from the old worldly architecture buildings like the lion and sun hotel already mentioned, the best position of them all for all the lively bars is the 3 star hotel rila very close to the grand hotel sofia and that may explain too the high 4 star hotel room prices.

another option too for one of the best locations in sofia might be to pay for a room upgrade at the ugly soviet era style two-star (at least they are being very honest) slavyanska beseda hotel on slavyanska str. i have been in worst hotels. or the 3 star hotel art on dondukov blvd just down from the sheraton is in a good position too.

according to some of the stuff i have seen on the internet, it is possible to rent a luxury one bedroom apartment bang right in the center for around 50 euros a night. with the little research i have so far done i’ve found one company that even picks you up free of charge from the airport.

with some girls being very shy at coming back with you to a smaller hotel and the larger hotels sometimes charging extra for your room guests, this option looks quite tempting.

some of these apartments look fantastic with all mod cons from free broadband internet connection, flat screen cable television and dvd players to queen size beds and modern fully equipped kitchens with microwave ovens and crystal wine glasses but i can’t see this idea working too well if your flight arrives late at night, or even worse leaves early in the morning for who is going to check you in or check you out at that unearthly hour and check the inventory list? and how good will the guests ‘word’ be to the letting agency if say on day 2 you notice a large cigarette burn on the carpet?

if anyone has rented an apartment in sofia for only a few days, i would appreciate any feed back.

finally, sofia’s erotic bars/striptease clubs i have purposely left until last mainly to make a point.

out of all the 5 well known ones in town all with their own unique selling points like,
the taboo club strategically placed close to the radisson sas hotel (house specialty, hostess lying naked covered in fruit salad), the fetish club on vitosha blvd close to the sheraton (uniforms, fetish costumes and role play if you own an oil well and can afford the champagne lady drinks), cleopatra’s (high class hostess bar) near the kempinski and hilton and velvet near the hotel rodina, kamasutra back down on dondukov blvd is probably the safest, non intimidating least expensive one of them all.

basically to appreciate these places you have to go in with a carefree happy attitude, ideally in a small group if you can and tip the waitresses well, smile or no smile. at the kamasutra club the lady drinks are reasonable at around 20 euros a time but double that if you are going to visit any of the other places and the golden rule is, don’t arrive directly by taxi but find first a nearby landmark like a restaurant bar or hotel and walk it from there.

my one and only visit to the fetish club was by taxi. basically the stupid moron of the driver i had who said he had no change to give me almost took me by the hand inside, even tried to tell me where to sit and stood over me while i ordered my drink and to top it all started beckoning the girls he chose for me to come and sit at my table. the fact that i told him to get lost in so many words didn’t go down too well either. yes bulgarians can be very stupid as well. what a fuck up of an evening.
so what is my point?

well, as i said at the beginning of this report some say as well that sofia has become too expensive with london/europe prices. that is also true but of course depends on where you go in sofia. even so, from every city in the world from seattle to sydney strip clubs and erotic hostess bars have always been rip off no go areas for the not so rich so why should sofia be any different?

The prices were around 50 to 100 EUR and the service was much beter than now. Yes, in places like Kamasutra, Cleopatra and Velvet you still can find some beautifull girls. First, not all of the girls working as a companions, and second, what I don't like about theese places is that you have to call the girl to your table, buy her a drink, which is a bit expensive (martini about 15 to 25 EUR or a botlle of shampagne. EUR 100! ) Then the rooms they offer are not really comfortable, and clean, So usually I bring the girls to my place.

The only thing the girls worry about is how faster the time will go. There are clubs, like Kontesa, for example, which charge aroun EUR 50 to EUR 100 and in which you can find some nice girls too. But things changed even there. The girls don't awoll to touch their p***es, or a***ses, even some don't awoll you to play with their breast, which I used to do with girls from that places an year or two ago. DFK, OWO, CIM, COF, COB are absolutely inposible even with extra charge.

About the escort services provided over the internet sites in Bulgaria the situation is the same, and what is more, usually you don't get the girl you have requested for. That's because very few of them got real pics shown there. I never picked up a girl from 'Luvov Most", first of all they are all Gipsy, dirty and you are in risc to get your wallet stollen, or even worse.

I can just imagine what the rooms there like. There is some street action on the highway near 'Mladost" district. The girls there are gipsy too and you are in high risk to get trouble with the police going around all the time. And finally. My last and best experience ever in Bulgaria. Just yesterday I saw an add in one of the sites for classifieds. The girl was looking very nice on the pics, and although I wasn't sure they were real I called her. I spoked to her for a minute, she asked me if I come to her /she told me she has a nice place/ or she has to come to me.

I was not in a mood to go out, so told her to come to my place. Well, it has been a short and busy visit in Sofia. Involved in business meetings most of the time with very little time for our hobby. In that respect, the location of Serdica Hotel was perfect, just couple of meters from Kama Sutra.

I was almost leaving Sofia with no action. On my last day, when I was having lunch in one of the street restaurants on Vitosha Street, I noticed Mango shop just opposite of the street. I can confirm that indeed 200 lv was the asking price(firm) for the first hour at KS in December/January. More recently the KS quote machine asked for 150 lv as Skinnyman reports. Perhaps the jump was temporary as a trial baloon and KS found consumer resistance? In which case, it is one for the Mongers! I Went on R&R in Sofia with a colleague last weekend. All-round nice experience. Regarding the striptease clubs, Kama and Cleo were found out to be the best in town. Fetish seems to be a no-no.

The "barker" posted in front of Fetish Club on Vitosha, trying to lure the clients in, did his best; even at one point crossing the whole (pedestrian) boulevard to hand us a flyer.

He clearly did not recognise us as one of the bystanders witnessing a fight at the entrance of his door some hours earlier. On one hand there was a (probably unsatisfied/ unwilling to pay) client desperately trying to escape from inside, and on the other hand two bold bodybuilder-type guys chasing him towards the direction of the nearby Court House building. Not an encouraging act to lure us in as potential clients. Anyway, I’m a strong believer of mouth-to-mouth publicity (and websites like InternationalSexGuide of course). If a striptease club offers good service, people will come back and tell others. If, on the other hand, a striptease club is empty, and has to hire a guy to drag clients in, there probably must be a reason why the place is empty in the first place. According to some of the stuff I have seen on the internet, it is possible to rent a luxury one bedroom apartment bang right in the Center for around 50 Euros a night. With the little research I have so far done I’ve found one company that even picks you up free of charge from the airport.

3. On some details the finishing touch was missing; a broken (but still functioning) door handle of the fridge or a small hole in the leather sofa, quite some quantities of dust falling from the top of the closet when putting my luggage there, . I know, I’m a damn perfectionist.

4. Possible doomsday scenario; somebody that copied the keys, previous lodger for example, entering the apartment during your stay.

5. Eeuh, I’m still looking, but I believe I ran out of negative arguments.

The positive points

1. The inside of the apartments is really identical to the pictures shown on the webpage; WYSIWYG.

2. The apartments are situated bang in the centre, so once the parking problem solved, you can enjoy the rest of your stay walking around, because everything is really on walking distance.

3. Good prices; below 49 € per night for one bedroom, about 60 € for two bedrooms.

4. Very discrete, no doorman to tip, no extra charges for bringing a girl in. Takes away the fear some shy girls have to be recognized when entering a hotel with a man.

5. Plenty of hotel-quality freebees: free WiFi Internet, free use of the landline telephone inside Sofia, Cable and Satellite TV, . As well as booklets with tourist information and map of Sofia.

I have particularly appreciated

1. The business cards freely provided with address of the rented apartment, to show, for example, to the taxi driver. Very convenient.

2. The no-fuzz attitude regarding check-out, just leave the keys on the table and slam the door behind you on the agreed time.

5. We arrived at the apartment at 19:55 and had to wait ten minutes for the contact person to show up, but did not have to pay the extra 10 € for late (after eight) check-in.

My conclusion; if you’re looking for a discrete, well situated affordable accommodation in Sofia, without being too rigid on the (for our occidental standards) details, this is your best choice. If you’re looking for a luxury apartment in the very centre of a capital for 46 € per night, read this last phrase ten subsequent time and figure out the incompatible words for yourself.

The expectations were high, with the image of the website http://club-kati. Hit. Bg/ in our heads, my friend and I entered the premises. First surprise, the six beauties present on the entrance page of the website were on holiday or sick leave, that Friday night. Instead, six middle-aged girls scoring from 3 to 6 / 10 were sitting in the reception room, smoking whilst watching television. I tried to defrost the atmosphere with a spontaneous "Hello, does anybody speak English? ", on which only the verry ugliest one responded vigorously by putting her finger up, like at school. "Discretely" ignoring the, now waiving, hand signal, I desperately continued with "Y a-t’il quelqu’un qui parle le Français? " seeing no reaction, followed by "Spricht jemand Deutsch hier? ". Nope.

My colleague and friend present, well, he is the smooth type of guy that even did not hesitate to charm the female Macedonian border guard that was controlling our passports. He asked her when her shift ended, if she was going home to her husband and three kids (on which the uniformed girl, surprised, responded she still lives with her parents) and finally concluded that, in that case, he would be glad to wait for her in order to take her out for a coffee. I never saw a border guard blush and smile so much when putting the stamps in our passports.

OK, so, well that smooth guy, present at my left side when we were confronted with the lack of beauty and language skills at Kati club that Friday night, he could just come up with "Srbski anyone? " This apparently provoked a lively discussion between the women present, so we thanked and quickly went away. Never even bothered asking the tariffs. We found out later on the website the rates start at 30 Leva for half an hour.

The problem, I believe, was the complete disproportion between the goods on display on the website and the real offer on hands. But my god, did we laugh out loud on going back towards Dondukov Boulevard.

69 €25+ 86 Vitosha Blvd* 02-9543738, 0888-7787877, 0888-8315969A short reaction on the post of Frankols 70, in particular the brothels list I printed out before leaving for Sofia. In short; the list seems positively outdated! We tried going mongering in the vicinity of our flat, close to the National Culture Palace Park. And we found out the following regarding the addresses:

- Brothel named "69" situated 86, Vitosha boulevard; they seem to have moved. No such name on the bell, all lights of the apartments on the street side extinguished after two at night, no response to the phone number.

"Contessa" on 16, Vitosha boulevard; still alive and kicking. Funny location in the pedestrian part of the boulevard; an alley leading to an apartment building on the right. Ring the bell and go up to the first floor. A guy opens the apartment doors, you sit in the sofa an about six girls are paraded for you to pick one out of. English spoken, girls scoring from 6 to 8/10, for 100 Leva an hour.

"Eva" on Lyuben Karavelov street, they definitively have moved out, and the phone number has been "sold" to another brothel. They say the establishment has allegedly changed name and moved elsewhere.. "Kati BEST GIRLS CLUB", well, still active (see other post of the same author for more details – or laughs). On my next passage to Sofia I will take a pic of the entrance, so you can see the contrast with the web site.

"Relax" at 43, Angel Kanchev has apparently converted to a less overtly sexual oriented sector and actually houses the "Bulgarian Au Pair Association". Whatever.

After this series of disappointments, we took the car and went cruising the ring way around Sofia. Nice if you like adventure; dirt cheap (30 Leva) gipsy beauties in the limelight can be appealing.

First, let me say thanks to Longhardlook for his "Newbie guide to Sofia", which was a very complete source of intelligence, instrumental in my recent decision to select Sofia as a place to go to for the weekend. I followed his advice and took a Longhardlook (LOL) at the specialised real estate websites. In response to his request, here follows the feed-back.

After requiring additional information on the prices, eventual extra costs etc, the choice was quickly made. The guys of "Sara" talk English, are very client-friendly and act professionally. The webpage was first mentioned in the post of

Simple procedure; make your choice on the webpage, send a mail with your questions, book online by clicking on the "Make a Reservation" button, show up at the agreed time, receive the keys and pay on check in, enjoy your stay, abandon the keys on the table and disappear from the apartment by slamming the door (softly, discretely).

In general; the negative points

1. Sometimes the outside looks of the building where the apartment is situated is hideous/old/dirty.

2. The apartments are situated bang in the centre, so if coming with your car, parking can be a problem. Be careful not to be clamped or towed away, which seems SOP for foreign registered cars misbehaving.

3. On some details the finishing touch was missing; a broken (but still functioning) door handle of the fridge or a small hole in the leather sofa, quite some quantities of dust falling from the top of the closet when putting my luggage there, . I know, I’m a damn perfectionist.

4. Possible doomsday scenario; somebody that copied the keys, previous lodger for example, entering the apartment during your stay.

5. Eeuh, I’m still looking, but I believe I ran out of negative arguments.

The positive points

1. The inside of the apartments is really identical to the pictures shown on the webpage; WYSIWYG.

2. The apartments are situated bang in the centre, so once the parking problem solved, you can enjoy the rest of your stay walking around, because everything is really on walking distance.

3. Good prices; below 49 € per night for one bedroom, about 60 € for two bedrooms.

4. Very discrete, no doorman to tip, no extra charges for bringing a girl in. Takes away the fear some shy girls have to be recognized when entering a hotel with a man.

5. Plenty of hotel-quality freebees: free WiFi Internet, free use of the landline telephone inside Sofia, Cable and Satellite TV, . As well as booklets with tourist information and map of Sofia.

I have particularly appreciated

1. The business cards freely provided with address of the rented apartment, to show, for example, to the taxi driver. Very convenient.

2. The no-fuzz attitude regarding check-out, just leave the keys on the table and slam the door behind you on the agreed time.

3. No up front payment or credit card required. Simple cash payment in Euros on reception of the keys, whilst the information of the passport is registered. 4. The kind contact person, which gave his personal business card for 24/7 help in case something in the accommodation would go wrong.

5. We arrived at the apartment at 19:55 and had to wait ten minutes for the contact person to show up, but did not have to pay the extra 10 € for late (after eight) check-in.

My conclusion; if you’re looking for a discrete, well situated affordable accommodation in Sofia, without being too rigid on the (for our occidental standards) details, this is your best choice. If you’re looking for a luxury apartment in the very centre of a capital for 46 € per night, read this last phrase ten subsequent time and figure out the incompatible words for yourself.
