Do not trust the 'bell boy' of your hotel to find someone for you. He'll bring some (low time) SW to your hotel and charge you a bundle! Actually, hotels are much overprized. You find cheaper ones outside the center but still a short commute on a bus or tramp.
Your best bet is to follow up on your own. It may take a couple of days to find your way around but it would be worth it. Most hotels have ¡®some kind of¡¯ a club. You could stop by and take a look and if you don¡¯t see anything you like you could move on to the next hotel. Taxies could be (really) cheap if you are alert and chose the right one. There is also a magazine with ads for local houses but in Bulgarian language. You may find someone to translate or even make a phone call for you. Again, you must be discrete and find the right person. Don¡¯t let your guards down. The going price (for tourists) is 35 to 40 German marks (one mark= one local currency, I forgot the name) for ¨ö hr and 50 marks for full hour (twice). Gals from the clubs will ask for 50 and 100. Do not take them seriously. Move on to the next group. Please do not overpay, ..... don¡¯t spoil it for the others. ... Local girls are so much fun too. Always carry protection.
Be aware of local gangs and mafia. Keep a low profile and don¡¯t be flashy or you could get hurt. There are a lot of professional hustlers who would pretend to be friendly and caring but they are after your money and only your money. Be extra careful and be alert. Screen them as much as possible.

Just buy Bulgarian Newspaper "Noshten Trud" available everywhere (of course in cyrillian language, but spelling is like this). In this newpaper you find about half side full of advertising of girl's agencies, a lot of them speak English or German. Price depends on what you want but should be between 25-60 USD, exiting young and beautiful girls, they come to your hotel or you can visit them. Wonderful experience I had there, it is great fun and best service and good chance to enjoy with 2 girls. If you like one of them ask for her mobile number and meet her privately, you can save another 10 USD.
Try it , you will be satisfied, I guess.

Sofia is a great spot. US and Euro hotels allow girls in no problem. Bulgarian hotels insist they register, not a problem just a bit embarassing. Even good hotels can be cheap ie Sheraton from 100 euro - look for special deals.
Most hotels have strip clubs attached, usually overpriced and knickers on.
Best for price and quality are Velvet tel 088531336 and Erotik Bar Tel 9634761. 3 strippers on runway all times. Your drink $3, girls $7 - 10. Girls go back for night from $100 to $150, depending on time. All night is all night. All my experiences as good if not better than anywhere else. You pay girlin club before leaving. Not an issue in cluba above. I do not give addresses for above as they are in normal alphabet and taxi drivers do not read, only cryllic. If taxi driver does not know by name, take out your mobile, ring club and thay will direct taxi. Better still, if not in good hotel, walk into top hote, have a pint then walk out like staying there into hotel taxi. They speak English and know all good places, like discos where students go.
Have many TelNos for girls in Apts ($25 - $35 per hour) if you want them, but poor English. Sofia is very safe.
Incidentally,unlike most EE clubs girls do not go to you when you sit down. You will have a waitress at your table. Watch as all do their strip routines and when you see one you fancy as waitress to send her to your table. Buy her a drink, talk etc. If you like ask her to go with you. If you prefer another, just thank her when her dring if finisher and she will leave, no offence taken. Do not go over to where all girls are sitting. Only ask waitress. Peculiar, but that is their system.

no i am not from sofia. agree sheraton and us/western hotels are overpriced but you can get cheap (< $100) special deals.
never stayrd in a bg hotel, hate the hassle when bringing a girl in. most big hotels have own strip bars but usually very tame ie sheraton, kempinski, merlin and hilton. other places are peep show bar - lavov most st, club pigalle - in hotel radisson (in the square around this hotel are many clubs).
best value, as before, are venus and erotic bar.

Sorry, mixed up names, for Venus read Velvet. Velvet in Slaveykov Bvd which is south wesy city centre, 5 minutes walk from Hilton & Kempinski. Erotik Bar is in Hemus hotel south east city centre.
All night from $100, maybe $150 if leave club very early. In my experience beautiful, good english and tend to stay until noon the next day. Can then make daytime arrangements cheaply or for nothing (meanibg small shopping). Remember street address above will be in cryllic on streetsigns and most taxis will not recognise in this format. Keep club phone no with you and get taxi to ring them for directions in Bulgarian if any difficulty.
In most US/Western hotels ask porter for city guide. It usually comes with flyers for clubs, strip bars, apartments and escorts including maps showing locations.
sorry, I saw your message too late. For hotels, I recommend to stay in Hotel AMBASSADOR, it is a little outside city centre, quite , by car/taxi about 10 minutes only. This hotel is new one, very clean, very good standard, rooms and prices are very good . Ask porter for a lady, price is around 50-60 EUR for 1 hour ! Porter is nothing elso doing than calling the phone numbers in the newpaper "Noshten trud" which I mention. Before 8:00 pm you can save his money and negotiate directly to the girls with pricing around 30-40 EUR, but you are asked to come down to lead her in. After this time she must register at reception.
Do not choose the big Hotels like Sheraton, Rodina etc., it is overpriced ! Never pay 100 USD for 1 hour, with this money you can have 2 girls half night in Bulgaria.

When you enter the hotel, ask the bell boys for Sofia city guide. Its for free and they have it.
You’ll find there everything with a map marked with escort agencies.(EURO LUX, EURO LOVE EVA MONICA etc) I dont remember which one I called. There is always one security guard standing in the lobby near the exchange desk. Before you do something consult with him that you’ll order a girl.
Just a chat and give him 5$ tip. You don’t have to do that but you won’t fell like a smuggler. Do that before you call any agency. (Some agencies may ask you to that)
Have in mind that on Fri and Sat you don’t have much choice. And go for all night. Girls are beautiful. 17-20 old. Mostly Bulgarian and Ukrainian. I can recommend also hotel Princess. But they don’t have strip bar.

So I am back from Sofia and here are my findings, the most important first:
Velvet is definitely the best Striptease Club I have ever seen and the best I could imagine. It is well organised, secure and what was a really pleasent first impression, they are very tactful towards the clients. What I mean is the following: When I came there the first time after a while I was very tactfully approached by a sympathetic Lady, who is the manager. She asked me if I was the first time there (I said yes) and she explained me everything (that most of the girls were available for hotel visits etc.). All this was in a very pleasant atmosphere. I was never aggressively approached by the girls to pay them a drink or a dance. It was up to me to invite them and I did with pleasure because I felt very comfortable.
And the girls: They are simply great, without exception young and extremely beautiful! And their show is great, real full striptease and they are all shaved (what I like very much).
The prices in Velvet are much better than for example in the Night Club of Hotel Rodina, about which I shall report afterwards. Drinks in Velvet are about half the price and also inviting a girl for a drink is at least half of the Rodina prices. Entry fee is 5 Leva (2.5 EURO/Dollars). For taking a girl to the hotel the prices are as follows: 100 Leva (50 EURO/Dollars) per hour and 300 Leva (150 EURO/Dollars) for all night.
I really regret having wasted two evenings at the Rodina Night Club before I went to Velvet for the two other nights I was in Sofia.
Hotel Rodina is quite ok, but I did not like their Nightclub at all. They are extremely agressive and prices are high. And is is not full striptease, only topless. Every 5 Minutes or so I was approached to invite a girl for a drink or a dance. I felt not being respected, it was the complete opposite compared to Velvet. But if you still want to try it, here are their prices: Entry fee 10 Leva (5 EURO/Dollars), Drink for girl minimum 30 Leva but they ask you to pay 50. Dance minimum 10 Leva, but they ask you to pay 20. Taking a girl to the room: 200 Dollars per hour. Just forget it!!!
I can only recommend not to waste your money in the Rodina Club. Velvet is only 5 minutes walking distance from Hotel Rodina and so much better. When you come out of the hotel, turn right on the big boulevard and at the next crossing left. After about 300 metres you are in front of Velvet.
That's it for now, later today or tomorrow I shall report some more practical details concerning Hotel Rodina and how to bring a girl there.
Ok, I had promised to give a few more details about Hotel Rodina.
It seems that there have been some changes since mkx was there, or it is temporarily. Actually a lot of American KFOR (Kosovo) soldiers stayed there when I was there. And therefore they had enhanced security.
As a result, most of the Escort Agencies I had called refused to send a girl there. Also Club Velvet first told me, that it was not possible to take a girl there. But then I talked very clearly to the hotel management and they confirmed, that as long as the girl can present an ID, there is no problem to take her to the room. I made the test twice and it is true. That's it. If anyone of you out there has further questions, just ask.

You can take the girls from Velvet to your hotel. There is always a taxi available in front. I did not have the impression that they have rooms in Velvet. At least they did not offer that and I did not ask as I anyway prefer to be in my own room.
On my first day I had called most of the agencies just to find out more details. All except one said that I could come there but that the girls could not come to Hotel Rodina. That was before I had talked to the reception. Later I did not try again as I was happy in Velvet and with the girls there and it was no problem at all to bring them in Rodina.

sofia is a great place for fuck... if you do not want to pay pro's, best places to find a girl are tequila bar (far above the others) caramba, dali, cacao, escape, fashion tv cafe, biad, ai club, caka-raka and reni's club (last four places are with bulgarian folk music).
do not miss bar f1, does not look great, it is even not easy to find it, however my score rate from this place is equal to michael schumacher's win rate in the last f1 season:)))

I was in Sofia for a short time and tried one of the massage salons provided at the web site www.diamant.hit.bg . (This site is only in Bulgarian/cyrillic letters and seems to be very slow outside Bulgaria). I was in „Massage salon No 1“ in Boulevard Makedonia No 6, ET. 2, Apartment 10 which is the nearest one to the center. Tel No. is (02) 952 49 18. It was Sunday, and is was open. You don`t see the location from outside, looks like a private flat. There was a girl who called herself Sunny. She spoke little English and told me the prices are 20 Lewa (= € 10) for a half hour and 30 Lewa (= € 15) for an hour, which I chose.
She was very tender, used much oil, teasing slowly (put off her fishnet pantyhose after about 60 minutes), kissed me all over (also french kissing) and did also a BBBJ after I had asked for it. Came into her mouth and on her face then.
After all, I was there for about 90 minutes and payed 50 Lewa (this is € 25). I would have been longer there but I had to rush to the airport.

Guys, I think I've found Nirvana! Back in Sofia for the first time in ages and I checked out Velvet this evening. Words fail! If you like your girls slim to skinny, and shaven, then this is the place for you. Twenty five girls strutting their stuff on the catwalk one after another with three on display at any one time, and all bar two or three available for take out. The manager is a very helpful young lady who arranges for the lady of your choice to come and join you. And now for the good bit! Entry is 5 Lev (€2.50), a couple of beers, a cocoa cola, a coffee and a 'french champagne' for the girl of my choice came to 50 Lev (€25) (two thirds of which was the 'champagne!), and, best of all, the ladies are 100 Lev (€50) for a one hour take out, with the clock starting when you get to your hotel or apartment. Two hours is 200 Lev and from three to five hours is 500 Lev.

Trav - your experiences in Mockba were obviously better than mine. I have a hard time with Ruccki Yazik (no practice) I was remarking about not expecting Bulgarians to speak English (never tried Bulgaria so I can't tell you much) It's the concept of "the ugly American" to expect that "after all, everyone in the world speaks English, DON'T THEY?!?"
Travelmen, as a general rule you will find that girls who frequent the popular bars, e.g. Flanagans at the Radisson, Murphy's, the Capitol Grill Bar at the Sheraton, will have some conversational skills in English - after all, the reason many of them are there is to hook up with a foreign guy who can afford to treat them a bit better than the average Bulgarian guy can and English is the most likely common denominator language. If you frequent clubs or discos I suspect that the likelihood of finding English speakers is rather less as they are probably out for a night with their mates rather than on the prowl for a foreign guy. Personally I'm way past the stage of trawling discos and much prefer to pay for my pleasure with minimum hassle. Hence my recommendation below for the Velvet Club. Good luck!

Personally, I can't be bothered trying to chat up women in bars - way too much effort! But I suspect that there will be a mix of pros and non pros. I've never noticed any obvious working girls, but then as I say, I don't personally go for the bar scene for pussy - just to drink. But they are generally fairly busy all week and I'm sure if you relish the chase they're as good a venue as any.
Velvet is quite close to the city centre - about a 6 Lev ($3) cab ride. It's next door to Captain Cook's restaurant (or more properly underneath said restaurant) on Slaveikov Blvd. Far and away the best place I have ever been, but then I like 'em young, skinny and shaven! A hassle free experience!

No I don't live in Sofia, I just got to visit recently after an absence of a couple of years. I'm actually in Warsaw this weekend and will be trying to track down a lovely Siberian girl I met a few months back.
Velvet is open until about 5 am and in truth I didn't get the impression that they run out of girls. There seem to be about 20-25 on duty on any one night, most of them available for take out. THey do offer a private show but I haven't investigated what that involves as it is as expensive as a one hour take out. I've got there at around midnight and found plenty of choice.
As for the bars, my list in an earlier post is about all the info I can offer. As I said, it's not really my scene. Bars are for drinking in, not chasing pussy!!

well, it seems this board is a bit slow, so i've had to go to sofia and do the research by myself, i came back a few days ago.
i was greatly surprised when i arrived there: plenty of pussies are available at cheap prices, the cost of living is really low, it is a very safe city and it's not big, that is, you don't waste too much time going from one place to another.
i noticed a lack of independent pros: most pros seem to work for night clubs, flats and agencies, so to get the pussies you have to deal with middlemen. in any case, i found all the environments very safe, professional and well-organised.
as has been reported here before, the 2 best clubs are 'erotic bar' (in hemus hotel) and 'velvet' (12-14 slaveykov blvd.). they open every night of the week from 10 pm to 5 am. entrance in both of them are 5 leva and drinks are cheap too. there're around 25-30 chicks in each of them. when you want to talk to one of the chicks you tell the waitress and she calls her, then the chick comes to your table and you have to buy her a drink. the price of the chick's drink was 30 leva in velvet and 15 leva in erotic bar. that gives you the right to be with the chick around 20-30 minutes. if you want to take the chick to your room the price is 100 leva for 1 hour or 300 leva for all night (all night means just 6 hours) -they also have prices for 2, 3, 4 hours or whatever you may want. these prices are non-negotiable, at least i tried to negotiate with no success. if you take out a chick you have to pay in advance, before leaving the club.
the biggest downside of the clubs is that there's very litle light, so it's difficult to judge accurately how cute the chicks are, above all when they are dancing it's not easy to see if they have beautiful faces or not. obviously it's easier when they're sitting with you.
in velvet there're 3 positions for dancing and the girls rotate between them, doing a full streptease on the last position. in erotic bar there're 5 positions, but the girls don't do full streptease.
the average quality of the girls is higher in velvet, but the number of very cute girls is similar in both clubs: 3-4 really cute girls in each of them. the 2 cutest girls in velvet were not available for take-out, they were just for dancing. there were 4-5 dogs in erotic bar, but only 1 dog in velvet.

First of all let me clarify that my Sofia trip lasted 5 days, in which I had five 1-hour sessions and one 6-hour session, with 5 different chicks in total (I repeated on one occasion with one of the girls). Considering the size of the Sofia meat market I think it'd be necessary to spend there at least 1 month to get a thorough knowledge of the scene, 5 days are not enough to become an expert; it just laid the groundwork for future expeditions and gave me an initial idea of what to expect in this city.
In reply to your questions:

4. Recently returned from Sofia and here is my report about flats (or „Massage Parlours“), in which even cheaper prices than in the flats described earlier are achievable. In these flats the following prices are standard:
one hour „massage“ (with HJ or BJ at the end) 30 lv

one hour „nonstandard sex“ (anal, BBBJ) 60 lv

The girls there are not the cutest ones (3 to 7) but usually nice, and I had a choice of max. three girls. In every of the locations I tested (I called three and went to all these three) I found at least one girl who spoke enough English to make a deal, so that should be no problem. And if you find no English speaking girl on the phone, call the next one. Some of them are open non-stop, 0-24, some from 10-22. They are usually not very easy to find.
In my previous web research I found two those flats called „clubs“ and four of those called „massage parlours“. It turned out that there is not much difference. In the „clubs“ they do not offer massage, but they always offer these „nonstandard“ things. In the „massage parlours“ they say that they do not offer BBBJ, but finally I got one in all two tested locations of this type.
All the „clubs“ and „massage parlours“ are normal flats in standard Sofia town houses, not very high level.
Here are some more details:
First I went to one of the „clubs“ in 11 August street – about 3 afternoon. When I finally had found it (I had to call twice to find the right entrance) a woman came down to the door, unlocked it and let me in. She was about 45 and definetely NOT cute. She said there were three girls, but the others occupied. I decided to try with the woman who opened because in my experience the quality of sex has nothing to do with the appearance. The always charged the price which was was published on Bulgarian websites and did not even try to get more from me silly western foreigner. The Bulgarian people are very friendly, and many of them especially younger people understand English.
And the costs for eating and drinking are 20% compared to western Europe.
Currency: 1 euro = 1,95 lv (exchange rate fixed)
At last some useful vocabulary if you are alone with a girl who speaks only Bulgarian:
French – frenski
BBBJ – frenski bez preservatif
with condom – sus preservatif
yes – da
no – ne
And if they shake their head that looks like „no“: this means YES in Bulgaria! So be careful with those gestures.

Well, it is not easy to find web ressources for Bulgaria. The MPs I reported were from the web site www.diamant.hit.bg, but there are no pictures, and it is only in Bulgarian.
Another web site I could find is www.bglove.com: If you choose "Katalog" at the left side and then "Momicheta" (=girls) there are some available ladies with pictures, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and some even with their prices.
But without being able to read cyrillic and Bulgarian it is hard to get information from this site.

OK well I'm back from Bulgaria and it was treat! Those starting with (02) are regular fixed/residental phones. They tipically charge 1 unit / 3 min. You omit the (02) if you dial locally.

I'm new here but noticed some comments on Sofia, so I thought I would add my thoughts since I lived there for a while. Her are my thoughts about flats, getting a girl in an adult club, and girls on the streets, and call girls.
1. Flats
First, I noticed some people had mentioned they could not find the flats. I did not personally visit the flats, but most taxi drivers know where they are because they get a little kickback if they bring you to one. When I lived there about a year ago, going rate for a girl for 1 hour in a flat was 60 leva (probably about $40 at the current exchange rate)
Taxis are generally reliable in Sofia. Stick to "OK" brand taxi and you will never get scammed on price. Even if you get a taxi with a rigged meter, maybe you will be out a couple extra dollars. OK taxi is the official taxi at the airport, so go to their booth inside the waiting area at exit. Stay away from anyone who offers you a taxi.
2. Adult Clubs
Now about adult clubs and getting a girl for an hour or two there - you can at most all, but I would recommend one - Velvet Club. I know someone wrote earlier about it and was not impressed with the lighting. He is right about that part. But it is a simple and no pressure place and I thought the girls were hot. I chose the same girl the couple of times I went and no girl I have been with has matched her!
Girls dance on stage totally nude. They won't come over and harass you like some clubs. If you want a girl to come over after dancing, just wave her over with your hand. Seemed $5 was the tip for a full contact lap dance. You have a couple choices, but this place is easy going: 100 leva (at least when I was there) which is now about $65 to take a girl for one hour to your place or a place they have (never saw their flat). The club gets a taxi and once you get to your place, the girl calls back to the club to say everything is OK and then the clock starts. But I found it unrushed and usually time went over without a problem. I recommend Velvet because it is straight forward and you can take your time to see how the girl performs in the club on stage and for you before choosing
My advice after visiting a couple clubs is stay away from the ones in or near the major hotels. For example Taboo and Pigalle clubs next tot he Radisson are the typical places where they want you to buy a bottle an expensive of champagne and then maybe go to a back room. Not to positive about Playboy Bar or the places in the Rila Hotel. Definitely avoid the club in the Rodina Hotel - it is where the US military boys serving in Kosovo come for the weekend during their time off. Least to say, the women are not he best and know they can get some horny military boy to pay anything.
3. Girls on the Street
Unless you go outside of Sofia, you may rarely see a girl on the street offering services. I would advise to keep walking if you know that is good for you as most are gypsies or one who any legit club won't take. Outside of Sofia you will often see girls on the side of the road. These are also mostly gypsies who service truck drivers. Two words of advice: keep driving!
4. Call girls
As previous people have written, escort services are available. There are some that cater to foreigners and if you are not able to find them online, pick up a copy of the weekly English language newspaper called the Sofia Echo. You can find it at most news stands on the main street in Sofia, Vitosha Blvd. In the back are classifieds and I usually saw small ads for about three agencies. The Sofia Echo website (sofiaecho.com) does not list them in their online edition.

To add to anon74, it is true that Velvet has a flat located not far from the club at the corner of skobelev Bld and Hristo Botlev Bld: no extra cost to use except 10 lev tip to the madam, she asks for it.
I had to use that appartement once since I was staying at the Rodina hotel and it seems you can not bring girls from Velvet to that hotel because they have their own club.

Just wanted to give the report of the first day in Sofia. The best rates of exchange can be found in the casinos. The casino near the Sheraton exchanges money with virtually no spread at all. Go there instead of the ripoff places along Vitosha Bvld.
A note on the apartments. My buddy and I tried a couple of the apartments on Vistosha Bvld. One happens to be right above the internet cafe where I am writing this report! Last night we found nothing to our liking there. So we went to the one on 86 Vitosha. We pulled out 2 rather indifferent girls for 50 lev each for each hour. We went into this with the idea of switching after one hour. Mine was a buxom tall brunette and my buddy chose a blonde. We took them back to our apartment and got down to business. Mine was a general and tried to direct the action. She was also very loose. Neither allowed kissing or performed BBBJ. I was able to get off after a while when she finished me with a CBJ.
My buddy got the worst of it. Our bedrooms are opposite each other and after being in our rooms about 10 minutes, I hear my buddy's door open. A few days in Sophia – Part II
This trip was spawned by a previous trip I had taken with my buddy to the RLD of Belgium. There were plenty of good-looking Bulgarian girls there. Having seen them there in abundance, we figured we’d go to Sofia and meet them at the source.
A couple of notes and bits from my first report. First, the names of the girls that we pulled out of Velvet were Ellie and Alex. Ellie, the girl I had had very short hair and looked like a very poor man’s Demi Moore. She wore sunglasses when she danced and was not the kind of girl that I would approach normally. Alex, my buddy girl was far cuter. To me, it seemed like the very best girls there were only dancing.
Secondly, regarding the change places, there are many places to change money on Vitosha. There are some, like the casino, where you can change money for very little spread. Others are rip-offs. Choose wisely.
On the second day, we decided to call some of the girls from the various websites that have been previously posted on this site. Zilch. The few girls that we came in contact with did not speak English and promptly hung up on us! Talk about customer service. One girl that I called, Kassandra from bg-escort.com, never showed up. More on her later.
We decided to go to Erotic Bar that night. We walked there from our apartment, which was next to the National Palace of Culture in about15 minutes. On the way we stopped at the club that is in the bushes behind the Hilton. It was absolutely dead, so we continued on. We found the Erotic Bar more comfortable as there were far less locals there. At the bar, I chose the only woman in the club with a big juicy ass. She was a brunette with really fucked up gums that I couldn’t see in the club. My buddy chose a real cute blonde. We paid 300 lev each for 6 hour ‘all-night’ service. Another mistake. I should have been smarter because she gave the warning signs. 1) She wanted a second lady drink at my table and 2) she kept pushing the all-nighter, which I had already planned for in my mind.
Anyway, we brought the girls back and I had 2 good sessions with mine. As I was preparing for the third, about 2.5 hours in, my girls says she wants to go back to the club and collect her money. I promptly took the 80 levI had given her out of her hand, returned 10 lev and told her to get out.
On the whole, I won’t be back for mongering in Bulgaria. It is funny seeing all the gorgeous women walking down the street (and it is INCREDIBLE how many beautiful women walking down the street there), but it seems that very few of the good-looking ones are in the business.
I have a few points to add to Minimis' report.
An earlier suggestion was the classified adverts in the Sophia Echo (the English language weekly paper). However, there were only 3 seemingly relevant adverts. One was for an escort agency wanting Euro100 per hour! The other two were for massage but one of them (don't know about the other) was just for massage with no extras.
The blond I had from the Erotic bar was called Eva. She was cute and quite sweet and was the only girl I came across in Sophia who would kiss. This was a mixed blessing though as she had bad breath.
Generally the quality of the girls at the apartments was not that great. Certainly not of the quality of Bulgarian girls that you find working in London, Brussels or Frankfurt. Although the clubs were better, it was noticable that the best looking of the girls in Velvet were for dancing only.
Overall, not a destination I'd recommend for a weekend's hobbying. There are better options out there.

I've been lurking on this board for a while and have never gotten around to registering, but after Jackson restricted the access to photos because of monthly bandwidth, I decided to finally register. Now there is no excuse not to contribute. I'll dump all that I know about the scene in Sofia, which was limited to one trip last year.
I only had time for two experiences; one at the Velvet Club and one visit to a flat. Both we're OK, but not anything truly memorable. The flat experience was based on Glenlivit's post of January 20th of last year. After reading about it, I figured that might as well give it a chance and see how it went. On a rainy afternoon, I rang the bell and was buzzed up to the 2nd or 3rd floor I believe, where I met the lady who seemed to be running the place. She was about 45, tall, big boned and hard looking, so I figured she had to be some kind of a mamasan, but in fact she offered her services first. Of course the super hot dancer that I had in mind was "not available", so I chose another and she was pretty cute. Thin, about 5-2 and as I found out later works out a lot. 100 leva, one hour. If I had it to do over again, I would have arrived earlier and chosen quicker because I lost a couple good ones to some local guys who were just more aggressive.
I paid the in advance at the club and was told that the hour starts after she calls Velvet from the hotel room to check in. A bit embarrassing at the hotel, because I had to register the girl and sign a contract about how I the hotel harmless from any wrongdoing should something go bad. Whatever the hell that could entail. The session was very enjoyable although she didn't speak much English, which complicated things. I'll post my finding from my next trip which should be in May sometime. I'm just wondering if anyone has any fresh suggestions about mongering in Sofia. I'll definitely hit Velvet again, but if I go to the flats, I'm going to be ready to walk out if it doesn't seem right. That tick story from Minimus' post on March 14 really freaks me out. I'll avoid that place on Vitosha at the very least. I'd really like to find where and if there are semi-pros working in Sofia. The Velvet girls are great, but I'd like to see what else is out there.
Took the advice of MINIMUS recently.

Glad to hear that people have found Velvet to be a pretty good place. As I said before, I like them because for about 5 leva ($3) you could wave a girl over to you after she dances. About taxis, I mentioned previously to stick with OK Taxi. Still true although 9-1280 Taxi is getting better again. It was just that before there were so many copycats of 9-1280 Taxi with similar numbers like 9-1289 to confuse people with the legitimate one. There was even a point when there were illegitimate cabs using the 9-1280 name, but for the most part it has gotten better. Still stick with OK. When you go to Velvet and they get a taxi for you and a girl you choose, don’t worry, they get you a good taxi.
The owner of Velvet apparently just opened a new club called Kama Sutra on Dondukov Street. I have never been there...yet.
When it comes to Velvet, the place is really great for relaxing, but many of the the good looking girls are only dancing...But the place is still the only valid place in Sofia in my opinion, nice music, no pressure, and really agreable atmosphere.

I knew it was all mafia run, but those people know what their business is and aren't inclined to mess about by messing with you. I agree, its hard to get new information about Sofia, and I'm guilty of not writing reports, but my experiences are pretty much identical to the concensus found here. There are two main options, the apartments and Velvet.

Just returned from a short business travel in Sofia. This time Hilton wa fully booked so I decided to stay at the Radisson, which is more centraly located.
I arrived late and visited the Flannagan's Irish pub inside the Hotel. It was easy to identify nice girls looking for company. Around 5-6 girls rated between 6 and 8. The price for one hour in the room was 150E, some discounted the price to 100E. Too expensive for Sofia, since they pay commission to many individulals. I then visited shortly Pigalle. I was supposed to remain in the taxi and he would show me. Surprise a stanning lady appeared. Her name was Alex rated 9. 22 years old like a model. We went back to the hotel with Max and with 120leva I enjoyed a special hour.
Next day I called again Max. The correct term to use is "choice", which means that he provided me to my roomdoor every time two girls to make my choice. First round rejected. Concluding, I would confirm that the three Erotic Bars that are reasonable are Velvet, Hemus and Kama Soutra. Unfortunatelly the small one behind Hilton does not exist any more.
Appartments ar ebest to visit around 21:00. Quality and environment can be poor. A taxi driver can be the best guide.
Night Taxi drivers seems to be the best way to find attractive at not expensive rates. Don't forget to mention "choice".

I've been in Sofia about two months ago and this is my report
Velvet: best place in town. Girls are gorgeous, drinks are cheap (9 lev for a vodka-orange), price is 100 LEV (50 EUR) for an hour in your hotel/appartment. You can get a nice lap dance for a small tip (5 lev) and you can touch her butt and legs but not her breasts.
I only was dissapointed once by a girl that looked nice but dark skin, which means GIPSY. I dont remember her name but she is thin with dark skin, 1.65, bad teeth.
All the others girls that I took home were great looking and very nice and friendly.
Interesting is that sometimes girls are also going to velvet as customers. They enjoy watching strip tease and sometimes even getting a lap dance. In Bulgaria having a lesbian experience is very normal and most girl-friends I asked about it, answered with "yes I tried but I am not lesbian, just wanted to try and it is cool"
Only one problem: some girls only dance, mostly the real stunning ones.

You can get advertisement about this places from the strees, normally in the corner of Hilton a boy will give brochures with a map of the sites. I'd say that is not worthy unless you are so horny and all the girls in velvet have been taken out.
Streets: in lions bridge there are a few girls after 10 or 11 pm, also in the road going south from the train station. Most of them are gypsies and they will do it in the car.
In the roads around sofia there are few girls. The price is about 20 LEV for a shot.
In general Bugarian girls are very nice and friendly. I think beside Velvet the mongering in Sofia is really shit. Better get a friend, many of them are really open minded and will do a nice one stand night without trouble or regrets (sometimes even without condom but is up to you to take the risk). Off course you shouldn't be so old or so fat/ugly... I have many nice friends here and i can say that bulgarian girls are very nice. Bulgaria is also a very open minded country and relations are kinda light. In bulgarian language "I love you" is not really used, they rather say "I like you", and girls preffer not to be too long in a relation.
Also interesting is that in most cable TV there is a porn channel with the normal "family" package (french XXL mostly), maybe that affect the way people see sex.
Strange thing is that anal sex is normal in Bulgaria for non pros. I even met once a girl that said she liked it more in her ass because she could come easily. She also loved the taste of the my scum.

Never been in Sofia (and unfortunately this itinery is not on the agenda at the moment) but most agencies have cameras pointing towards the street and front door. I remember that this happened to me all the time in Budapest a few years back. But maybe they, as you thought, actually looked out of the windows for half-decided customers.

If you could find a reliable taxi, that would be the way to go, or to "order in" if your situation permitted it. You could probably get the apartment to get you a taxi, if you could make yourself understood. I managed to get to Sophia last weekend. The info I received from this forum proved to be correct. I stayed at the Radisson SAS which is nicely located within the city. I was again in Sofia and had the opportunity to visit the erotic clubs, in particular Cleopatra, Hot Girls and Velvet. Business as usual, same amount and quality of girls. The standard fee for a girl in a "bureau" as they call them here is 50lv (25euro).
The contessa agency is 100 lv (do your own math)
The taxi driver receives a 20% commission from that fee. He also gets to keep 100% anything over the top that he can get you to pay.
With regard to the strip clubs (kama sutra, Velvet, Cleopatra's, Hot girls), If the taxi driver takes you in he will receive the additional fee you are charged by the club for admittance. If you go in on your own the entrance is 5lv. I know of one taxi driver who has told an unsuspecting punter that he can get him in for 'only 30 euro' (the punter paid!).
The strip clubs in the big hotels operate slightly differently, and taxi drivers will not usually try to take you to them as they do not benefit.
Beware though of a taxi driver who offers to take you to Taboo or the gentleman’s club. If he suggests this it is time to get a new taxi driver!
These two clubs are basically clip joints and are to be avoided irrespective of how horny, drunk, or adventurous you are feeling. If you want to go 5 star in Sofia go to Pigalle (under the Radisson) or Playboy (Kempinski Hotel).
Personally I do not think it is worth it, they are significantly more expensive, aimed at the expense account budget, they do have less skanks, but the most attractive are no more attractive than the best in Kama Sutra.
Kama Sutra (on Dondukov Boulevard) is probably the best strip club at the moment. They recently doubled the price of a lap dance to 10lv and this has significantly raised the quality of the experience. The girls are good, the odd chubby one, but they have to cater to all tastes, they have a lesbian show at 1am, a beer is 5lv, the hostesses are friendly. The major downside is that since they raised the price of the lapdance more girls are only dancing and not going out (that is 100lv per hour) because they can make almost as much money without ever getting laid (strangely they view this as a good thing).
Personally I think we should all swear a pact not to take dances from any girl who does not go out, that way we prevent the cuties from milking us dry without milking us dry, if you see what I mean.
Having said that I rarely go to Kama Sutra, or any of the other strip clubs. There is a very low correlation between the quality of the experience and the price of the girl, (with perhaps the exception of Contessa, 14 Vitosha Boulevard 100lv/hr).

For me, I figure if I am as likely to get a bad experience fo 50 lv as for 100, I would rather pay 50 and if it does not work out use the other 50 for a second pop with someone else. I get less bad experiences these days than I used to, maybe because of better language skills, may be because of better judgement, but I’ll be dammed if I can give you any advice on how to pick the best ones. The two best (who were truly world class) I took against my better judgement, because I was so horny and could not be bothered to look any further. Each of them turned out to be amazing in their own ways and only 50 lv a pop!
This presents what Bulgaria does best, good value for money, if you want to go for 5 star guranteed service, go somewhere else. You can pay the same mopney here as in London, Vegas, Milan etc, but you are not guaranteed that level of service.
In the event of bad service I recommend either taking them back whence they came and firmly but calmly expressing your dissatisfaction, or, just get them to give you the longest blow job, if they stop just look at them without smiling and say "oshte" pronounced osh-te, which means more. Do not just let them go, this just encourages poor performance and makes life more difficult for your fellow mongers.
But if you treat them well, whilst not acting like a pussy whipped pushover, you should reduce the odds of a poor experience.
A few closing words on Contessa, they have significantly improved the 'shopping' experience here. When you go in you will be greeted by the manageress, and invited to sit on a zebra skin couch, the girls then stream in for your perusal (between 3 girls and 8 depending on the time). Like everywhere else they are reluctant to smile at this stage, but when you get them back to your place, or into one of the surprisingly good rooms there, this should change. Like all the other offices, it is open between 8 and 6, and yes, the better girls tend to go earlier.
I guess it is worth mentioning that just about everywhere follows the same pricing structure:

But note that the service ends at 06.00, there is, most irritatingly, no option to take a girl till 9 or 10 the next day so you can have her again for breakfast.

I would like to confirm the statement below that DALI is a very interesting place for meeting people. It is a big and loud place, with mant "smaller" areas (bar tables) that allow someone to "flirt".
In addition to the traditional bar within DALI and the end of the club towards the kitchen there is "shop in shop" erotic bar (could be called ATJDEC or similar). It is owned by the erotic bar in Sheraton Hotel Basement, which is expensive. Hello fellow mongers, let me share my recent experiences about Sofia.
First of all, a friendly city. Not as glamorous as western European cities, nor as impressive as, say Prague, but a nice small city with good opportunities. Since it is not Western Europe, you should be able to adopt yourself. I am originally from Istanbul, so I guess I know how to cope with unfriendly taxi drivers by nature. But again, unless you are a dick that assumes anyone who does not speak fluent English is stupid, you will not have any problems at all.
It is not a problem to use a taxi. At night you would pay around 7 Lev (3,5 EUR) to drive from a far end to another. Drivers don't speak much English, but you still get to arrive where you would like to go.
I had a short time there, so I checked out only Velvet. To put it straight: I have been to many strip clubs around the world. What I call a strip club is more like US-style, with nice decoration, cheerful atmosphere, private tables,
where you can even take your girlfriend to have a beer. Velvet is not like that, with your first step you see what the place is good at: find your girl ASAP and close the deal. 5 dancing girls all times, with 10 or more sitting and waiting. Entrance was 5 Levs if I am not mistaken, and beer was another 5 Levs. Very professional atmosphere, not pushy at all. I saw 2 girls that were 9/10, 3-4 girls that were 7/10. Others, I could not see.
About regular bars & discos:

Jim Beam (Studenski Grad)
Good decoration. Bad looking, but friendly security at the door. 3 - 4 shifting dancers on 2 bars. House & techno music. Either you need reservation, or should be there around 23:00. Gets fully loaded, but I think it lacked the tension. Very unfriendly barmaids, who made us stay much shorter than we initially planned. Admittance 3Levs.
Tequila Bar (downtown)
For some reason this is the only security that gave us the "We are full" bullshit. Within a moment they changed their mind, and were ready to show us to our tables, but there is no way we would accept that kind of treatment, so we left. I suggest, spend your money somewhere else, where they deserve it.
Yalta (downtown-ish)
This is the latest and 'trendiest' club, I have been told. They asked 40Lev a person for admittance. Since this is 13 times higher than the average Sofia-price, we refused to enter. So if you go, be prepared. It didn't look very promising on the outside, but I have no idea what's inside. :)

Indeed, most of the strippers in the DALI "shop in shop" erotic bar can "go out". As always the very good looking ones "only dance". The price for 1 hour service "out" is again 100 Leva (similar to the other traditional bars).
However, the manager would not easily allow you to leave the bar with the girl, without having spend approximately another 50 Leva as consumption within the bar. That's why finally it's is slightly more expensive than the others. Of course it is much more reasonable than the Playboy, Taboo, etc where the hourly rate can exceed 300 Leva/Euros.

BTW, I heard about a very interesting establishment from an expat friend of mine who was taken there by some Bulgarian buddies. It is a house or small private hotel in the suburbs of Sofia, which has a small nice bar and cozy lobby. But it actually is a high quality brothel. After his friends and he had some drinks, a bunch of, according to him, young and pretty girls appeared. All were dressed very sexy and started mingling with the guest. After some drinks some of the girls got naked and jumped into a jacuzzi! At that point the guests started picking their companions for the night from the wet and naked chicks and disappeared into the rooms one by one. I can't believe I didn't notice this place the last time I was in Dali. Azteca is in the back corner of the club just as was described earlier. I'm not saying it is impossible to hook up in Dali, but you have to have a strong sign language game or know Bulgarian. Most of my conversations went as follows:

After my frustration level escalated, I decided to check out Azteca. It was a bit odd because I was the only customer in the club. It has a long narrow stage in the middle of the room and a bar lining the wall to the left and couches to the right. After a short while one of the dancers came over to sit by me. This was not a good sign as it smelled of the old routine where she asks me to buy her a drink and I need to take out a second mortgage to pay for it. Of course she did ask me to buy her a drink, and since it was late and I wanted to find out if I could purchase one of the women I did. After some idle chitchat and probably around a 20 Euro drink, she tells me she doesn’t have sex, but she can recommend a fine specimen for my entertainment. Velvet is owned by the same people who own Kama Sutra. Let me use a baseball analogy here, Velvet is definitely the minor leagues, a low AA affiliate if you will compared to Kama Sutra. Maybe 10 percent of the women were fuckable. There were a few gems, but the cows were grazing.
I didn't llike the atmosphere of the place either. It is basically one big stage with 5 poles situated on different levels. The women would progress through the poles and when they were done they would go over to lung cancer alley and talk amongst themselves until it was time to dance again.
I am curious how this place makes money because there were very few customers and nobody was asking for a lapdance or taking the girls home. Perhaps I was there early, yet I might be missing something with the business model of this place.

Just got back from another visit to Sofia and had a blast. Here is my update on venues
Dali/Azteca - Fantastic. Dali has an excellent feel to it. Really relaxed and friendly staff who recognised me when I went back for a second night. Coatcheck girl was gorgeous and flirted big time but I didn't get anywhere!!
After a few drinks I went to the strip bar at the back. Very small intimate place and they made me feel welcome - not many men in there but about 10/15 women with looks about 6-8. Kind of a funny story, I walked up to the desk at the Princess Hotel and they told me they had no rooms. The bellboy overheard and took us accross the street to the tourist service and they booked us two rooms for 30 Euros less than the Princess would have charged at the Princess. We walked right up to the woman who told us they had no rooms 10 minutes before and she gave us the two rooms.
Anyhoo, the Princess is relatively cheap. It is girl friendly for a price, it will cost you 20 Euro more per night to take the girl to your room. I did Golden Sands this summer and stayed at Hotel Helios there. I really enjoyed the place but didn't see the place overflowing with p4p opportunities; there were a few girls at the clubs (2 or 3 in GS) available for take out and tons of low to mid level hoes at nite outside on the street where disco bonkers is located but they were overpriced at 200 Euros and 70 euros (short time) respectively. Just make sure you don't care about money and you can have a good time in those places. It is ALL about the money there. Sure, it is also about the money in the other clubs (Kama Sutra, Cleopatra etc.), but you can be a bit more relaxed and make your own choices.

She went to change clothes or more exactly to put some clothes on and then we left. She barely spoke English so we traveled on the back seat of the cab in silence till we arrived. So I decided to go back to Kama Sutra and seek for my money. And indeed I did - I entered the place and head directly to the bar where I asked for the manager. I explained to the guy who came out that one of his girls has robbed me and I insist for his assistance to receive my money back. While I was talking to him I felt that some regrouping of the bodyguards is taking place behind my back and when I looked over my shoulder I saw several big guys staring at me with still faces. The manager said that his girls are not offering sex to customers, he asked the waitress that I spoke with before, if she knows me and she denied, and after accusing me of lying he said that I better leave on my own or he’ll make the bodyguards help me find my way out. Then I tried to threaten him with calling the police but he wasn’t impressed much. His reaction made me think that maybe there’s some kind of cooperation between him and the authorities. None of my appeals or threats could lead to a reasonable resolution of my problem and after a hard time hour I was dragged out on the street by the big still-faced guys I mentioned above. I’d never felt so helpless, frustrated and full of rabid hate in my entire life. Again I had the urge to call the police but the lack of the reaction from the manager and the possibility that this story could reach my family and business associates made me give up the idea.
I hope that this accident will be lesson not only for me but to everyone who reads it!

A reputable club would have banned the girl.
However this incident only goes to impress upon all mongerers to be very careful with their valuables when there is a hooker in the room. The girl insisting that you take a shower alone should act as a warning to be careful.
Put your money, credit cards, passport etc in the room safe or at least hide them so that they cannot be found quickly
This type of thing is not restricted to Bulgaria but is common in all mongering countries, it has happened to friends of mine in Turkey as well.

I am in Sofia for a couple of weeks and decided to check out a couple of clubs:
Kamasoutra : 5 lev to get in, coke 5 lev => total cost 10 lev; about 15 to 20 girls, a couple of hotties (tall, leggy, long dark hair). I talked to the Lady-Manager and she told me that the cost "on site" is 110 lev, not bad though I do not know who "only dance"; left after 20 minutes.

I have not taken them up on this offer because I think it may become uncomfortable at some point dealing with a hooker for that long. If the girl is an asshole, which has happened to me, I am sure that you would tell her to leave well before the five hour period. But if she was cool it might prove fun.

Finally I am able to ad something interesting to this forum.

If you are picking up in the hotel then you can get to your room without being spotted by the reception, so single room would probably be OK. However if bringing in them less hassle if you have a double.

Here is my update from my trip last week.

A drink for her cost 50 levs. It was above board because they showed me the price list beforehand. I asked if she would come to my room. She said she could not. She went on to explain that some girls have to use a room in the club itself, while other girls are allowed to go the customer's rooms.
She said she would introduce me to a girl who is allowed to go to my room. I had to do some tough negotiation with this other girl because I wanted a longer time.
