I was in Czech over the weekend. The road just inside the Czech?German border between the towns of Cheb and K.V was rather lively. Quite a few girls on the side of the road, and this was at 2p.m. There were also several clubs within 20 minutes inside of Czech. I was in a rush and didn't even time time for a quickie, so I can not comment on the prices. I will say there was one or two quite nice girls and the ages varied from early 20's -late 30's. Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,
I will be visiting Czech very shortly for 3 days flying into Prague and staying 1 night then moving away to another city where the women are less tourist wise.
I have been to Pilzen before and found it much cheaper and less touristy than Prague the question I have is should I go back there or try another city, anybody who knows Czech well enough please give me a few ideas please. Do not forget that Pilsen is close to German borders, hence I suppose there will be not much difference in the attitude of women to tourists (on average, of course). Surely there are many small towns where you can find a gem, but it is a lottery, can cost you a lot of time and even you need not be successful. If your time is limited, I recommend Prague.

I lived in the czech rep. over a year. There are alot of great cities. I actually like Moravia, cities like Brno, Olomouts, and Ostrava. The last one being the cheapest for girls, but also the worst place to visit for a tourist. As far as a spa or massage place, Czech is not the place to go. Consider Thialand, Brazil, or Costa Rica. It's mostly privat's or bordel's. You pay by the hour, but these girls are not professional as far as massages. Brno is very nice with many bordels. You can spend the day looking at historical sites and at night going to the bordels. Actually, I think it is prettier than Praha. I have had the best luck finding normal woman in Olomouts, which is 70 km. to the north. Go to any disco downtown, and if you speak some basic czech you are pretty certian to bring a girl home to your hotel. This is also a very beatiful city, but smaller than Brno. OSTRAVA, UNLESS YOU SPEAK CZECH, FORGET ABOUT IT. To many thieves. You could also rent a car and drive. The airport in Prague will rent you a car for a great price. I would spend a night in Praha and then maybe a few days in Brno. I would recommend the hotel Slovan in Brno, near the center of the city. Everyone knows it. It's expensive but good.

Is it a straight forward train journey to Brno I am a little reluctant to hire a car unless you think it is a must to visit the better places. I will check out the hotel Slovan on the internet to see what rates they are offering you said you have had the best luck finding normal women in Olumouts is there also some pay action there as a fallback in case my basic Czech is to basic.

Take the train from the main trainstation in Praha straight to Brno. It's about 3 hours. From Brno you can take the tram or a taxi to Hotel Slovan. Roughly 4 bucks, it's about 2 miles away on the other side of the city center. There is a bordel called the Moulin Rouge within walking distance. Open 24 hours aday. And up the road there are many more. Close to the hotel you might see some gypsy girls on the street. Stay away from them and their male counterparts. They are also by the trainstation. Plus I don't think any hotel would let them in. I stayed there about 2 years ago and there was a disco in the basement, there were some girls there but expensive, better goto the bordels or privats. As far as Olomouts, of course there are bordels there, but again, no english spoken. In Brno you will probably find woman who speak engish. I would recommend Brno, it's a beautiful city. Actually, the best luck I had with normal girls is a small town in the north called Bruntal. But you must speak Czech to go there. All village girls. But now I have a girlfriend there, so no more.

Ostrava is great, but you need to have friends that live there to know all the discos, and all the bordels. I was lucky, I have a friend from a town called Bruntal that used to live in Ostrava. The disco's are great for finding normal woman, and the bordel's are cheap with good service. I don't know if you are interested in places like K5 in Praha, that's not my style. I like the local places. No tourists. That way all the girls are all over me. In Ostrava, you tell all the free girls to sit down with you, and buy a large bottle of champagne and they will all love you and give you their #. Downtown you have the better Bordel's, more money, maybe 2000 kc. outside of the center it's about 1500 per hour. Privats are 1000. The taxi's there are shady. they will bring you to a bad bordell, then will offer to take you to another, and so on all night. Don't trust anyone in this city. You need to know where to go, and I simply can not give you all the names of places. Good luck. Buy the way, there is nothing there to do during the day unless you want to drink or goto the privats, unless your going there for business. No historical places.

I am not able to speak czech. I like to try lots of places and i think i am very adventurous. I will have to be there anyway so I am looking mainly for bordellos. You will probably take the highway to Ostrava through Brno and Olomouts, before Ostrava, fastest way.Better than going through the villages, it's more km. but faster. Once in Ostrava or Olomouts pick up a magazine called avizo, I think, it's in every newstand. It lists every privat and bordell in north moravia. Problem is that it's in Czech and the women speak czech and probably some german. Ostrava probably has as many privats as prague. If you know german you are better off. My favorite bordell in ostrava is Amor, it's under a overpass, and near a bus station in svinov?, and by a river. But I do not know the address. Your correct about K5, overpriced for the same thing you can get everywhere. Once past Olomouts, on the way to Ostrava you will be going through villages, the highway sort of ends. With your permission Jackson, I would like to post the following at least in the Poland, Czech Republic, and Hungary sections.
For those of you budget travelers like me who rely on public transportation to get by in a new city, here are some words of (serious) advice: punch/insert your ticket as soon as you walk on.
There could be serious penalty if youˇŻre caught with no valid ticket. It does not matter if you have ticket or not but was it registered or not. Most time the penalty is in cash and right there. (They may accept Credit Card by now!). The controllers pick on tourists only. So, donˇŻt be fooled if you donˇŻt see anybody else around you punching like you did. I always wondered why such double standards.
I cannot emphasis enough on how important it is to have heads up on this punching/inserting your ticket. Although, I have never experienced it myself but I have seen others who were approached and I saw how they were treated, didnˇŻt like it. Keep in mind that the language barrier will make things worse. You have to pay up. ThatˇŻs why I believe even one victim is too many.
Usually, tickets can be used for different modes: bus, tram, and metro (in Prague and Budapest). The tickets are very reasonable so stack up. Each ticket is good for one time, one segment only. In Prague and Budapest, you could use the same ticket on certain routes but it could easily become a headache to keep up with it. Better not to deal with it. Like I said, tickets are very reasonable.
No matter what time of day, how empty, or how crowded, the first thing you need to do is to punch in or insert your ticket. If it is over crowded and you even barely get in, the first thing to do is to find your way to the nearest box and register.
The best thing to do is to have a single ticket ready in your hand, register it, and hold it in your hand (or know where it is) and dispose of it as soon as you get off. The worst thing is to be stopped and pull out a bunch of voided tickets trying to figure out which one is for current use.
In all Eastern Bloc capital city airports: Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, Bucharest, and Sophia, you could take a bus to downtown (or near) for less than one or two dollars. In Prague and Budapest you could even, get more frequent bus services to the first segment of the underground metro. For every piece of luggage, you are carrying with you, punch/insert a ticket. DonˇŻt worry about how big or small: one ticket per piece of luggage per segment! If youˇŻre being accompanied with any local ˇ®beautyˇŻ, you use one ticket for her as well. Tickets are reasonable. Buy few tickets at a time. I always keep at least two tickets where I could not easily reach for emergency. Meaning late at night when you cannot find an open kiosk to buy ticket. In Warsaw, Sophia, and Bucharest, the services shut down around 10 or 10:30 pm. donˇŻt get caught off guard.
I know a lot of us have already figured these out but if there is only one hobbyist who could benefit from this information, I thought it would be worth the time to write it. Lets review it again together: have bunch of (new) tickets at all time, punch/insert as you walk on, hold it (the ticket), and dispose of it as soon as walk off, okay. Happy hunting.
You make a good post about "validating" your ticket. No one tells you to do this. You buy your ticket and most people would probably assume it's fine. I did. I didn't know I had to insert it in the machine that stamps the date until Swed Dude told me to.
On the other side of the coin, the entire week I was in Prague I didn't see one cop or officers checking anyone's ticket. Buy the cheapo 250 Kr. ticket if you're there a few days. It's good for the week. You can also buy one for 1, 2, 3 days.
Something unique about Prague is just how far down these metros are. The escalators that go up/down extend a very long way. I haven't taken a metro so far underground before. Very easy to get around.

Foreigners are an easy prey indeed but the Pragers are not off limits. They most likely have some 3 month or yearly ticket and the inspectors are well aware.
The three intersection metrostations are notorious for random ticket controls. ALWAYS punch your ticket when going through one of them. Tramline 22 is another hotspot, especially on the segment starting from Namesti Miru to Pohorzelec on top of the Prague Castle. Another killing field is bus 119 from the airport to Dejvicka metro station. Damn how many travellers I have seen being busted for producing an unstamped ticket and they are sitting ducks really with all their marked luggage.

Just wondering where to stay in Praha 2 area, I wish to visit K5 as for a first timer it seems that this is the easy solution, although a little expensive.
Does anyone know any good hotels in Praha 2 or Praha 1 that won't break the bank or a cheap hotel website for Prague, I use www.octopus4easyjet.com which only has a couple of good priced hotels.

You have to get to a rather narrow area to bring out the details. I even found the Relax club there listed as a restaurant. I like walking and I used the printouts last time I went and found it valuable. If you hold your cursor on a hotel or restaurant symbol it will provide details and sometime internet addresses.

I posted this in another language site three years ago. Most of what I wrote is still valid so therefore this reposting.
Basics:
To/from the airport with bus and subway, very convenient. Avoid the taxis, especially when going to clubs as they had to give commission to the driver and that commission is picked out of your pocket in higher entrance fee. It worked very well with day cards for the local transport system. Get a czeck simcard to your phone or use calling cards in phone boots.
Information:
Annonce paper, there are several parts, buy the correct one so you dont find yourself reading ads about used cars. www.escort.cz och www.sexystranky.cz are good webpages. In some ads there are abbreviations NJ and AJ and others I haven’t bothered to learn. AJ means english is spoken and NJ means german is spoken.
Get around:
I bought a map in Prague to get around with subway and buses (lines on the map). Searchable street index also needed of course. Buy a good map. You save a lot of time and money on it.
There is a map over sex clubs called ”erotischer stadtplan” that is sold in some kiosks. It contains vouchers for discounts on various (but not all) clubs. I found it not very useful.
On the site www.escort.cz there is also a map with all service providers. Prague is divided in many districts (?) called Praha 1, Praha 2 etc. Those districts must be found in your map as district always is mentioned in all ads. I chosed girls based on district as I did not want to travel around in Prague all day.
Clubs:
I tried Atlas close to Vaclaste nem (Ve Smeckach 31) and Ariadne in Zitna 4. Atlas had some girls but primarily show. Lesbian show and dildo show that was quite good. Basically, German car parts are popular in Central Europe - so the suggestion is when you park the car either the whole car, or parts from the car, will be missing.
I've driven across the border many times. A couple of times I was upgraded to Jaguar's, Volvo SUV's, etc - I originally asked the hire car rep if this was permissable to drive such fancy cars thru east europe - the Austrian guy chuckled - "well its funny you know, they will all look at the Jaguar, smile and think its a wonderful car, smile even more and be happy that they saw such a rare beautiful vehicle - and then walk away - they have no need for a jaguar or parts from a car with with such status - as they are rare in the region.
Whereas a german car, they will take the mirrors, wheels, etc for their own cars or sell them down the market.
Typically the hire car companies will supply you with a Ford, GM, Renault, etc as a charriot to the east.

a peek inside the sex industry

taken as a whole, the sex industry in the czech republic - from prostitution, strip clubs and sex shops to erotic magazines, films, and the internet - is big business, with a share of gross domestic product to rival many smaller sectors.
given the nature of some aspects of the sex industry, it is difficult to put an exact number on the money it generates, and many of those involved are reluctant to offer even an estimate. in spite of the inherent obstacles involved with research on the subject, the prague tribune tried to get behind the "business of sex" and its economic impact.
not surprisingly, top of the list is prostitution. jiří vopravil of the czech statistical office (Čsú) estimates about 9,700 people are involved in the business, 40% of which are foreigners, mainly from slovakia, ukraine, russia and bulgaria. vopravil was one who tried to put a number on the business side. in 2003, when his research was carried out, czk 8.7 billion was spent for sex, of which about czk 3.25 billion came from czechs.
the hollywood image of back-alley sex, though, was not so common, with only about 700 streetwalkers working in the czech republic, says Čsú. their estimates show about 6,000 prostitutes working in some 800 night clubs around the country, and an additional 3,000 in private flats or rooms.
sometimes these rooms are rented, creating a lucrative real estate business. mfdnes reported in august that pimping and the letting of rooms around wenceslas square in prague creates a czk 500 million monthly market.
in some respects, prostitution works like many other businesses. vopravil says the trade has actually stagnated for the past four years. it also has geo-political reasons to blame: the euro's introduction; germany's constant fight with recession dropping the number of german "sex tourists"; and the floods in the czech capital three years ago. last year the daily právo wrote that eu entry had diminished prostitution in border areas - shorter waiting times at crossings have meant that truckers, once steadfast customers, have less time to spare when processing their loads.
vít slováček, the vice-mayor of Český těšín, adds that sex workers now "mainly live off of clients from abroad," he says, singling out poland, the town's nearest neighbor. in vyšší brod, situated on the austrian border in south bohemia, police worked to push prostitution off the street. however, mayor marie ederová admits "public houses" still remain. "we've closed our eyes to these red neon hearts," she says, alluding to the signs found over the door. what's worse is that the city sees no tax revenue from these establishments, she says, as most claim no profit. the new law on prostitution that is currently being discussed in parliament should create tools for municipalities to fight street-walking and decide whether and where can "red lights" be located, but it should also bring money to the town's cashiers - if prostitution becomes a taxable business
wanted: tourists!
rising "sex tourism" has the hospitality sector a little edgy. in its may 2005 newsletter, the american chamber of commerce in prague, a strong promoter of congress and incentive tourism, stated that, "while the seamy side of the tourism business has been tolerated by the city hall, the higher end has had little support." the city hall is aware of the growing negative image of prague, and therefore strongly supports the proposed law. "we must eliminate street-walking and brothels from the historical center," says rudolf blažek, deputy mayor of prague. "we want prague to be perceived as a nice, friendly city with a wide assortment of services, but these (sex) services are not those we wish to promote."
it is exactly this "seamy" type of tourism that benefits not only prostitution, but also "lap dance" bars and strip clubs. at the k5 club, one of the city's oldest and most well-known clubs, marketing manager lucie marková claims more than 90% of the clientele is foreign - and big spenders, leaving an average czk 5,000 on a typical night for strip shows and lap dances, among other things. increased customer flow is a welcome change. "at the beginning [in 1995], the biggest problem was [not enough] customers," says goldfingers' general manager jan jareš, who helped start the lap-dance bar that year with american investors. jareš adds that business has grown a lot in the last two or three years, but has leveled off in the last year.
one reason for better business at strip bars has been the growth of british visitors since the number of low-cost airlines multiplied in the past few years, with prague now a prime stag destination. the rising number of stag parties (estimated to be at some 50,000 visitors this year) has also gotten tourism authorities' attention, and czech tourism plans to take steps to soften prague's image. "we do not want to become famous for hosting stag parties," says spokeswoman karin seligová, without elaborating on the agency's plans.
stag parties still represent an attractive segment for travel services. after arranging a few stag weekends for friends, neil smith and mark robertson started praguepissup.com, a website that arranges hotel and activities for stag parties. in 2002, the company had about 300 visitors, but then got a bit of publicity in the uk, and this year expects 15,000 travelers, mostly british, with packages starting at a few hundred british pounds. while the company doesn't place itself under the term sex tourism and focuses on "party weekends," stag weekends, much like an american bachelor party, usually involve a stripper, which is why most groups book the aptly-titled "steak & tits" evening. for eur 30 a person, prague pissup organizes a steak dinner in the backroom of a restaurant, followed by a private strip dance.
a stable market
a bigger demand for strippers has been good for zdeněk záruba and his galaxy europe model agency. started in 1992, galaxy was one of the first such agencies. "at this time there weren't many agencies doing [erotic shows]," he says. today, there is a list of firms several pages long, on top of all the individual offers from girls, both of which has helped push prices down. according to záruba, a girl doing a private strip show will make czk 2,000, and she will typically be booked for about three shows a night; a night dancing at a club will start at czk 1,000 plus tips, which could reach up to czk 10,000 on a good night. corporate parties also hire girls to hostess, which goes for about czk 1,000 a night.
záruba says he'll book about 20-30 large company parties a year, especially around christmas. he claims that czech girls are also wanted abroad, typically in germany or italy, and 60% of his business comes from foreign bookings, although he won't disclose his company's turnover. still, he doesn't claim to be the biggest agency, but says revenues are consistent. "the market" over the past five years, he says, "has been big and stable."
magazines provide the "money shot"
another stable market - at least for now - has been in publishing, which is led by mp media ltd. and pk62, both in operation since 1990. with dozens of titles between them, more than one million erotic magazines, priced around czk 50 each, are sold in the country each month. "after the revolution, there was a big boom [in publishing] because nothing had existed," says mp media's owner, hana bílá, who bought the company from its founder in 2000. bíla says the biggest change in the market has been international expansion. besides the czech republic, both firms also publish multiple titles throughout europe.
they both have also diversified. for pk62 that means adding a chain of sex shops and a string of internet sites, while mp media has chosen to concentrate on business-to-business services by creating a web content provider for telecommunications companies and develop content for mobile phones. the hope is that this diversification may help offset dwindling magazine sales, which bílá admits now account for 60% of turnover. but she expects the technology side - especially mobile services - to null any further decreases. "you must be ready before [customer demand]," she says of the mobile content, which they started with in 2002 and only accounts for a small part of sales thus far. "we are expecting a big jump in 2006 or 2007."
perhaps the most significant indicator that erotica has established itself as a prospering business is the erotica sex fair a four-day market expo that has been held here annually since 1995. according to ivana mattei, director of bohem production, it provides a chance for those in the industry to meet and make deals, as more than 50 firms are represented - and upward of 10,000 visitors. "the perception of sex is completely different nowadays than ten years ago," says fair manager tomáš růžička. while its safe to say that public perception of sex - as an industry and otherwise - has changed notably in the last decade, perhaps a better question is what it will look like in another ten years. referring particularly to the growth of technology and its impact, hana bílá sums it up concisely: "sex sells in any media."
lessons from abroad
for many years there has been talk in the czech republic about if and how to regulate prostitution. today a draft law that should bring a revolutionary change is on the table before parliament. prostitution should become a legal business, and male and female prostitutes should have business licenses and pay taxes.
while sex workers would not be able to offer their services on the street, they could work in zones delimited by municipalities, and they would be required to have regular medical examinations. "even though it's ethically debatable as to whether prostitution should be regulated or not, we (prague city hall representatives) think that the current situation is untenable," explains prague deputy major rudolf blažek. "at this time, we have no tools for dealing with street prostitution or the erotic industry in brick-and-mortar establishments, or for stipulating any rules," he adds.
the greatest problem associated with prostitution is the criminality that surrounds it. advocates of regulation believe that when this "business" becomes legal, it will be under the control of the police and the state and criminality will decline. they are looking for examples in neighboring countries like the netherlands, austria, and germany, where there have been laws on prostitution for several years. however, the reality in these countries indicates that the opposite is true.
in the netherlands, with its historically liberal approach to prostitution, a law was adopted in 1999 that for the first time equated prostitution with normal occupations, with all the same obligations and benefits. but the result is controversial. "there is now much less visible, open prostitution in amsterdam than before. in spite of the possible benefits, women with work permits have so far shunned to come into the open, proclaim themselves as prostitutes and pay taxes," wrote professor lotte van de pol, a specialist in prostitution in the netherlands, in one of her recent studies. "the objective of the legalization, to recognize prostitution as a normal profession and so decriminalize it, has not been fulfilled. (...) the majority of prostitutes work illegally (...), they have been driven into the underground, further into the clutches of criminals," the study continues.
in queensland, australia, where a law took effect in 1999 permitting the licensing of public houses, the effect has been similar. this june, jane fischer and charlotte woodward, in "research for sex work", published conclusions from a three-year study on how implementation of the law worked out in practice: "changes in the legislative framework (...) have not stopped the illegal sectors of the sex industry and have created an underground economy. overall, it further isolates and marginalizes sex workers. this marginalization may strengthen links between sex work and criminal activity."
for the people, by the people
similar to the appetite for reality television, amateur productions in the porno business are a growing trend.
technology is certainly playing a part, giving the average person both an outlet and audience. "[erotica] is more accessible for all target groups," says mp media ltd. owner hana bílá, while pointing out that "traditional" media is also profiting from the trend. "amateur magazines are very interesting [for the public] and sell more than others," bílá says. one example is the company's intim kontakt, which works similar to a personal ad. each month, the magazine receives about 900 photos from people, of which between 350-400 appear in the fortnightly publication.
while a new erotic channel on upc direct satellite network keeps professional actors, but mimics the look of amateur videos in its films, a new prague club is going even further. billed as an "internet studio", big sister opened as a normal club in may 2004, but spent the next year and some eur 6 million installing wires and 58 cameras, enabling the club to carry 17 live streams on the internet. starting in april this year, the club broadcasts average men enjoying some time with one of the girls in the club live on the internet. "our customers are like exhibitionists," says lucie marková, marketing manager. she adds that the clientele is a mixed bag of nationalities.
customers pay a czk 300 entrance fee and sign a release giving permission to be filmed, and about 30 people will visit on an average night. while the entrance fee is small, the club hopes to make its money on the internet, where it is already receiving an average of 13,000 hits each day from all over the world. starting at eur 19.95, viewers get 14 days or 500 minutes of access, and prices go up to eur 89.95 for three months. marková wouldn't disclose the number of paying viewers now, but claims that business is growing and that the company hopes to reach a target of 10,000 customers.
lights, camera, action!
foreign adult film producers are interested in the czech republic, due not only to the charms of local girls, but also the generally liberal attitude towards erotica in this country.
most of these new films are the work of american producers, who, according to jana jurásková, co-owner of the bohem agency, which provides comprehensive filming services, account for half of all foreign producers in prague (other film outfits come from germany, france, and spain). bohem production may be the best established local firm. it turns out about 12 films a year, spending from czk 500,000 to 1.5 million for each. "we aren't a huge production company, but our films are of high quality, and they're very successful," says the firm's owner, ivana mattei, who also directs her films, which she markets internationally.
" we use 90% czech actresses, but also about the same percentage of foreign male actors," mattei explains. for each "scene", of which there are an average of five per film, new actresses get usd 400-600, while stars get from usd 800-1,000, which is comparable to the us pay scale. "the very best have monthly turnovers of about 150,000 crowns," jurásková says. the word "turnover" is appropriate here - an actress typically spends up to one-third of her pay on clothes, tanning parlors, vitamins and medications, and, not infrequently, plastic surgery.
and prague isn't the only city in the region popular with makers of adult entertainment. in the future, new us legislation will "help" central europe with an influx of porn production, requiring that actors have work permits even for one-time jobs. american producers will be much more likely to film in europe, as european actors won't be able to work in the us.
a typical day at the sex shop?
erotic aids, porno films, underwear, gels, aphrodisiacs, leather, or latex. this is just part of the assortment that attracts sex shop customers.
martin bednárik, the director of erotic city, owned by the whole sale company city realex, claims that an erotic goods business is the same as any other. "today we're included among standard business partners like any other company. the borders have been pulled down, which is good, as we don't feel second-rate in any way," he says. his firm currently employs 250 people and is the largest chain of erotica shops in this country, with 55 outlets and 40,000 product types.
city realex originally ran most erotic city shops as franchises, but the franchisees were unable to invest in improving and unifying the shops, so the company took the shops over and started opening new locations with good visibility. updating each shop, ranging in size from 65 m2 to 750 m2, cost millions of crowns. last year alone city realex opened 21 new shops, and plans on opening another 20 within two years.
willi, a 15-year-old firm based in kolín, sells erotic aids another way. it distributes most of the products cod or over the internet, not only to the czech republic, but also to romania, slovakia, and ukraine. owner aleš krupka buys most of his wares in china or hong kong. "this type of product is made there in bulk at low cost but in good quality." according to krupka, erotic aids are a normal part of partners' hygiene today. "you can't say how much, on average, people spend on them. some customers buy gel for czk 50, and some spend thousands," he explains. karel káš, the owner of the on-line sex shop eroticstore.cz, believes that besides high quality, maximum discretion when shipping packages is essential for customers. "but the most important thing has been, and still is, that the customer not worry about making purchases, and can be sure that the store is trustworthy."

"erotic content will develop very rapidly in the future and generate very good revenues," admits kaidl.
erotica has been successful in the internet's network practically since the advent of the internet. erotic online chat rooms that allow paying customers to connect with girls who can show practically anything they want on camera are growing in popularity. there are dozens of studios with such offers in the czech republic, and the competition is growing sharper. besides virtual erotica, all sorts of high-tech sexual toys are sought after. You make a good post about "validating" your ticket. No one tells you to do this. You buy your ticket and most people would probably assume it's fine. I did. I didn't know I had to insert it in the machine that stamps the date until Swed Dude told me to.
On the other side of the coin, the entire week I was in Prague I didn't see one cop or officers checking anyone's ticket. Buy the cheapo 250 Kr. ticket if you're there a few days. It's good for the week. You can also buy one for 1, 2, 3 days.
Something unique about Prague is just how far down these metros are. The escalators that go up/down extend a very long way. I haven't taken a metro so far underground before. Very easy to get around.Good advice. There is also a Kc 50 daily ticket as well.

Trafika is the name for shops selling newspapers and magazines but also cigarets, metro tickets,lottery tickets, candies, drinks, batteries, condoms, postcards... including pre-paid phone cards for public phones as well as pre-paid cards (with credit) for mobile phone.

Since the begining of the year the "Oskar" brand disapeared from the czech mobile phone market in favour of a stronger commercial brand : Vodaphone Czech Republic (new owner of Oskar).
All shops are now operated under the name of Vodaphone as well as all advertising is now done under the name of Vodaphone.
And yes Vodaphone is cheaper than Eurotel and T-Mobile.

Hi everyone,
I've been reading and taking notes of all the useful information on this forum and will be visiting Prague (as well as other capitals of Europe) in May. I will report on my adventures immediately thereafter.
My question, though, is when is the best time of the year to visit (1) Europe in general, and (2) the Scandinavian countries (with a particular emphasis on Sweden).
The reason I ask is mostly because I am planning a trip in the summer and I heard that many Europeans leave during that time of year. I would very much like to visit when the local, non-pro population is available.

I have been to Prague 13 times and I never take any money with me, I guess it depends on the bank interest from each country:-) I found out that changing any foreign currencies such as Euros or Dollars, banks take to high comission. I heard though some banks are not to bad. but I find this the best way anyhow:-)

I've just got back. I always use ATMs -but advise you to watch out if you have a daily withdrawal limit - could compromise if you're booking an escort!
Also, some agencies take Euros anyway, and many clubs (e.g. CHL/dessert) take either.
In fact despite all the negative comments about Dessert, I have to say they supplied me with a free taxi (on my own) from Darling Cabaret where I enjoyed the view but wasn't going to be tempted into 4,900CK shag for the hour. They also gave me free lift back afterwards. Six girls were working, two of whom were pretty good, one 7.5 and the other, a dark haired Ukrainian an 8. I chose the Ukrainian and got excellent VFM for my 75 Euros/2200 CzK. OWO included, and actually to completion, which may have been by accident, but was probably because I treated her well and gave her nice massage. Just remembered her name was Oxana, but calls herself Roxana in club. 19yo with good frame, and we spent about 75 mins in the room.

The Eurotel shop in the Ruzyne airport is definitelly closed and I don´t remember any Vodaphone (formerly Oskar) or T-Mobile (formerly Paegas) shops in the airport.
If you arrive during the day time, just go to the city center (Wenceslas Square i.e. ) or any shopping mall like Palac Flora, Novy Smichov, Nove Butovice Galerie... where you will find shops of the 3 mobile phone operators (Eurotel, T-Mobile and Vodaphone).
Both operators are selling SIM cards ready to use with a minimum credit. Additional credit can be purchased in news papers stands, post offices, gas stations...
Vodaphone is usually offering the better prices for communications but the signal coverage is not the best compares to Eurotel and T-Mobile.

I think it's been reported before, but there's a HUGE place at Narodni Trida. I forgot the name, but it's got a big blue and yellow sign and they buy and sell used phones. You could probably buy a phone and sell it back to them when you're done. Good luck and happy...calling.

The only advantage to use a local SIM card is to pay the local phone rates instead of paying the international rates from your home provider (roaming)...
...and depending from where you come from, you can't just buy a SIM card and use it with your home cell phone if it's not a GSM phone (in the US, T-Mobile and Cingular use GSM, but some others not) or is locked (some cell phone companies "lock" their cell phones when they sell them cheap with a subscription, so they can only be used with their service. For example, if you have a T-Mobile phone, you cannot replace the SIM card with one from Cingular or another company and have the phone work). You need to have it unlocked first, otherwise you need to buy another phone too.

Unlock a GSM phone costs 150 czk (5 Euros) in "bazar" and other phone shops. It takes 2 minutes for them to make your phone working with all SIM cards (czech and foreigners).

ThxBesides you have to pay roaming for using phone and SIM card from you own country, the receiving end may have to pay for international rate too even you are calling from Prague. That's why some people won't bother answer the phone if the caller ID shows an international phone number. Recommedation is use your unlocked GSM phone if you have one but get a local SIM card.

Also if you wish to remain anonymous, it might be a good idear to give an adress on a small square or another hotel, which is close to your actual hotel.

Mandrake, great information. Thanks for posting it. I will say in regards to Taxi's that not all of them are rip offs. The only taxi company I trust in Prague is AAA. You can call an AAA taxi from a cell phone by dialing 14014, or go to a Taxi stand, I believe they are the only company approved to use the stands. They will have a legitimate meter in the taxi and they don't rip you off.
Other taxi's are dishonest and will try to take you for as much as they can get. I was once quoted 400 CZK for a ride from Wenceslas to Namesti Miru, near K5. I got an AAA cab and it cost me about 40 CZK. Speak English and they see you as a target.
The Marriott and Renaissance were both girl friendly, but with the Marriott you need to come down to the lobby to pick up guests because the elevators require a room key. The Rennaisance didn't used to but I haven't been there in a couple years.
Finally even the Casinos don't require the original passport, just make sure you keep a copy in your wallet.

I second. You should have no problem with girls at Hilton. However, you need to meet the girl at the lobby. She cannot come to your room directly. You need a card key in order to operate the elevator.
I stayed more than 25 times in the Prague Hilton and never had a problem to bring a girl back to my room in the evening (i.e. 8 or 9pm), at midnight or later during the night (i.e. 2 or 3am). All girls were well dressed (not like street girls) and it probably helps a lot.
A few years ago they introduced the key card system to run the elevators, so if you´re waiting an escort girl sent by an agency or a club you will have to go downstairs and wait for her in the lobby or in front of the hotel.
In the past (and after midnight) I saw a few times the reception clercks stopping girls on escort and walking in by themselves to "charge" them a small fee (500 or 1000 czk).
All girls with who I was in the Hilton always asked me to escort them to the taxi outside because girls walking out by themselves after "working session" in the hotel room can be stoped by the reception clercks or the security staff and be "fined" up to 1000 czk... They call it "provize" (commission) in czech. Even small hotels are sometimes charging a fee to the girls/escort agencies visiting hotel guests, not only big international hotels like Hilton, InterContinental...
I never had to register any girl at the reception.

hello: since I think it is important to be informed about a danger of HIV I am copying part of a story broadcast by the Radio Prague on May 18 2006 I believe. The digest of the storry is: the HIV emidemic in Czech is very low, but there is a potential problem with stds from people from Ukrain and I guess the formal USSR in general. Ukrain has suposively the highest or one of trhe highest rates of HIV in Europe. I guess the moral fo the storry is that you might think twice about choosing the Ukrainian provider, I guess specially in the privates. To those who are going to acuse me of racism, I am telling you I am not, I am just reporting what I have read. Thank you, the text from the radio Prague follows:
"So far, the Czech Republic and its neighbors have been lucky. UNAIDS and World Health Organization statistics indicate Central and Western Europe has one of the lowest rates of HIV infection in the world. In the Czech Republic the total number of deaths from AIDS is in the hundreds, and it's estimated that about one-tenth of one percent of Czechs are living with HIV. But that might change. Dr. Marie Bruckova, who heads the National Reference Laboratory on AIDS, says that infections are rising steadily by between 50 and 100 cases per year. She adds that this probably isn't the whole picture.
"We have certain worries. We have an increase of those who are HIV-infected who are registered. You know, we can suppose there are more people infected or whom we don't register. So those who we do register are going up. We may suppose that there are more people, and usually we say five times more than we register. I wouldn't say more than five times. "
One factor worrying officials is that nearby Ukraine, which has many of its citizens living and working in the Czech Republic, is the worst-affected country in Europe. Buy a bus ticket in the arrivals hall. Cost used to be Cz20.
Exit arrivals, cross the road and turn right. Go to the end bus shelter and take bus 119 into town.
Validate your ticket on the bus. Your ticket is good for one and a half hours to go anywhere on the busses or metro.
Take the bus all the way to Dejvicka metro station on the A (green) line (takes about 20 minutes). It's the last stop.
From here take the metro to wherever you want to go to.
Dejvicka is actually at the back of Letna Park so you're already close to the city centre.

Is the best chioce for long distance travelling in cz. cheap, reliable and good services. sadly there is no english version available of their homepage, however they have plenty of english speaking staff, so just send them an email if you wish to do a reservation before you go to cz. also they show film in their busses, and sometimes the stewardess if kind enough to show it with english subtitles - i already a few czech films this way. they also have cheap routes outside of the cz - germany, austria, holland, england, denmark (950 czk) and other places, making them a good alternative to the airplane/train

Nonmongering Tour of Prague.
Hi guys since someone asked about what too see in Prague, other than pussy.
Here is my walk which is the same as most guidebooks but with suggetions on where to have some pitstops along the way.
Buy a guide book and combine it with this.
We start at the statue in front of the Large National Museum.
Walk down to see where The two Jans set themselves on fire .
Look at the buildings around you.
Hotel Evropa and Meran are art deco style.
Hotel Jalta and Ramada are Stalin style.
When you look down over the square you should also see the modern art on display all they way down the square.
Look to your left and you will see two banks in Monumentalism style.
Go over and find the Lucerna Passage and go in to the old Art Deco style cinema and the Reversed horse hanging on the sealing.
When you have found the horse look at the wineshop on the right.
This is pitstop 1, you can buy a glass of the local Czech wine just to see how it taste.
From here just go under the horse and follow the passage all the way down to the garden which will com to your left.
Go thru the garden and you will be at Jungmannova Namesti.
Every punter should take a moment in gratitude to the students who took a severe beating here back in 89.
Their suffering is the reason why you now can go puntering in the CR.
After this it is back to the Wenzel sq. And go down Na Porici.
Follow the signs to Prasna Brana, the powder tower and Municipal house.
Here you can have pitstop 2. Get coffee and cake at the Municipal house or go to the American bar located inside the Municipal house.
It is worth going there just to take a look inside.
Take the street under the Powder tower and go past the theater where Mozart conducted the first performance on DonGiovanni.
You will also see the Old buildings where the Carls University has its administration.
There are 60000 students there and you will most likely fuck one of them when visiting clubs.
From here find the Astronomical clock.Get there just before the hour strikes, so you can see the mechanical display.

Pitstop 3 is hotel uprince. It is on your left when you face the clock.
Go to the terrace bar and enjoy the view.
Go back out on to the square and see the Jan Huus monument.
Find the signs and go the old Jewish Quater.
Lunch can be eaten and the excellent kosher restaurant King Solomon.
Go down to the river to Namesti Jan Palac to see his death mask on display on the Philosofical department building.
Also if you want to look over the Jewish Cemetary go left across the street and inside the building there.
It is some sort of Museum and from the cafe toilets you can overlook the cemetary.
This is not some weird joke you do get the best view from the toilet.
From here you go to the Carls brigde and follow the tourist all the way up to the caste. Here is also pickpocket alert.
Find the bar up there with the grand view of Prague and sit down to have a well deserved drink.
This is written from memory and if anything is wrong just write it and I will correct it.
Also, most hotels have tours. I suggest:
A river cruise.
A visit to the brewery Staropramen.
A visit to the Krizov fountain (dancing fountain)
Daytrips to Karlsteijn or Kutcha hora.
Koncerts are mostly classical and New Orleans jazz.

First of all make sure you do your cash exchange early. clubs, hotels charge a higher rate.
Second All the escort agencies LIE, to them it's everyday business no need to complain, it won't help.

This is my first report so please bare with me. Have read many of the others and they are seem to be of such high standard.
I have recently returned from Prague, having armed myself with a number of reports from this excellent site off I went to variou clubs etc.
My comments do not I am afraid agree with many of the members but I suppose it takes all types to make a world I called at Sweet Pardise on two afternoons and found the girls very ordinary, not very attractive and most non-English speaking. I just had a drink and left. Like many of the reports walking about Prague is a joy, so I wandered down to K5 Where I got a very heavy sell from a young man who spoke very good English, but the girls seemd disinterested and when he asked none would allow oral so that blew that out, so I paid for the drinks and left.

My general feeling about Prague. A Beautiful city with great history. The clubs are different than many in Europe,but the services on offer are limited and sometimes expensive for what they are. Always ask and make sure what is included in the price. Well worth the visit but no way anywhere nearer as exciting as Germany (the German girls seem to love doing different things)

Well flew the long way round via Rome.
The weather was marvellous and got to see the old city and Jewish area, what a gem of a place, well worth a visit even without the girls.

Personally I had a better experience in Dolores than Beboss (who is quoted very well by most of the Prague mongers).
In Dolores the price was only 1500 kc/hour for basic service (with possible extras) when I paid 2000 kc/hour for basic service in Beboss (without possible extras). Girls were also younger and better looking in Dolores than Beboss. Xavier, you can also walk if you wish - definitely the best and cheapest way to go is using the metro is tram. Depending how many days you are staying get a "24hour" ticket or a 7-day ticket. Much, muh cheaper than taxi

Get the metro there as it's up hill all the way and you don't want to turn up hot and sweaty then walk home down hill. If you're walking just go right out of SP then when you're on the Vinohradska just turn left and follow the main road 'til you see Muzeum.

It´s simple!
24h-tickets cost 80,-- CZK. You have to buy this ticket at the automatic machine and valuate the ticket before your first ride at the automatic machine at the metro or the tram or bus. From this time it is valid for the next 24 hours - of course!
The 7-days ticket acts the same way and cost 280,-- CZK. You can buy this ticket in almost all tabacconist shops or at the info-center at the metro-stations.

If you are coming from one of the 27 EU member countries, just bring your national ID... International passeport is no more required to travel within EU and a national ID is a valid official document to travel to the Czech Republic that Big Sister can´t refuse for admission.

IanI don't really understand why the risk of losing a passport is so much worse than the risk of losing another form of id, but why not just use a driving license?

ViscountIf you're that worried about protecting your identity BS is probably not the place for you, you do realize you have to sign a model release giving them the rights to do pretty much anything with your image to get in?
Anyway, I haven't been to BS in over 18 months so things might have changed for the better, but last time I was there the place had gone downhill pretty bad:
The quality of the girls was bad
They reduced the time you could spend in a room from 2 hours to 1 hour
The rooms were booked solid, so it was more or less impossible to have more than 1 session in a night.
To get better footage, the lights in the rooms and the club had been cranked up too high for my taste
Personally I'd stay away, guess it might be worth it if you really like the idea of having sex on camera as long as you're aware you'll probably be limited to 1 session

I believe the Czech Republic is a good place for mongering, but the most important thing is it all depends on the girl - some of the girls act nicely and the "quality of service" is perfect, and some of them do not ... but I believe this is the same situation as in other countries. Well, I would never ever trust Annonce - never ever trust the photos or description of girls. I estimate the probability of getting the girl from photo is about 1:1000, maybe even worse. The "good" adverts there are from well known privates anyway, so you can find them on escort on line (escort.cz). There are no 'freebies' on annonce!
Anyway it's quite easy to find out the type of private by annonce - if the advertised price is less than 1000/hr (say 800/hr) then it's most probably a private with russian / ukrainian girls.
Getting a local prepaid SIM card is a must have, I believe. The choice of operator is up to you - there are 3 (Vodafone, T-Mobile and Telefonica O2). The price of the SIM usually depends just on amount of credit on the SIM.
Why do the girls hang up once you start talking in english? Some of them don't speak english, some of them have bad experiences with foreigners (drunk from a stag party, etc.), that's all. I would say legislation on this subject, in many countries and I reckon also Czech Rep. could be one of them, is a bit more specific than simply "allowing sex with somebody of at least 15 y.o." as that is the age of consent.
In most cases it means two 16y.o. persons may have sex together, but somebody above legal age, i.e. 19y.o. cannot have sex with a 16y.o.
Regardless whether the 16y.o. partner is consenting or not.
Paying for sex, is anyhow forbidden in many countries and this goes beyond age of consent or legal age!
So before venturing into any adventure - in real life - ISG rules or not - I would be very careful to do so.
This with no prejudice to discuss if it is really needed and a legal age chick is not sufficient to obtain some kind of sexual fun.

It's buried somewhere on their Czech page, but if I recall correctly, the rate was 40kc / day and 75kc / week, and if you paid the higher rates, you get a 2GB limit, which is way better than 150mb. They even had card punchers to make the SIM compatible with the iphone and I used it nonstop. Unless you are a heavy video watcher, you rarely go above 300mb in a month, so 2 GB is a healthy limit for even the occasional video on the tram.
Bad news is, O2 doesn't allow tethering, so you'll need to jailbreak for that feature if you plan to bring your ipad or laptop around to places without free wifi (and trust me, the "free wifi" at most places are crap slow or don't work)

Sweet Paradise used to be one of my favorite spots in Prague, but not any more, due to a lot of bad experiences here lately. This used to be a place with mostly young girls 6-7 years ago, but the trend is that you find much more MILFS here now.

This is the closest you'll get to Amsterdam in Prague. The RLD consist of the TAT-bar where you can chill out, and the SHOWPARK itself that is a walking area of corridors and even have strip club open after 8 PM. There are a lot of really good looking chicks here, but I think you need to be a regular to get some decent service here. I've never been really happy after my visits as the sex tends to be very mechanical, but for the price you pay, what do you expect? I know this was stated previously but I juswanted to stress it out. Call AAA, don't get out of the privat or establishment and get into the closest taxi, they will rip you off! Happened in front of me, was leaving showpark and waited for AAA as I called them sooner, saw a guy getting a quote from the taxis outside to a hotel not far from mine, needless to say he paid an extra 1k according to my calculations. Add 200 and that was how much I paid to get a shot out off my barrel.
How many CZK = US dollars and vice versa?Now it is around 20 crowns for 1 dollar.

BUT, that limit might be 150mb as the previous reply mentioned. You have to dig to find the limit.

It's buried somewhere on their Czech page, but if I recall correctly, the rate was 40kc / day and 75kc / week, and if you paid the higher rates, you get a 2GB limit, which is way better than 150mb. They even had card punchers to make the SIM compatible with the iphone and I used it nonstop. Unless you are a heavy video watcher, you rarely go above 300mb in a month, so 2 GB is a healthy limit for even the occasional video on the tram.
Bad news is, O2 doesn't allow tethering, so you'll need to jailbreak for that feature if you plan to bring your ipad or laptop around to places without free wifi (and trust me, the "free wifi" at most places are crap slow or don't work) Very useful information thanks Addict. Thanks a lotI noticed when I checked my bank account after my last trip that some of my withdrawals from the ATM's were more expensive than others. I think the expensive ones are the ones where I probable accepted to perform the withdrawal in my local currency. Not sure which ATM's this were, but pretty sure the expensive ones are the ones close to Darling Cabaret. I will be more careful when I return to Prague even if it were only approx 5% more it adds up all together, and it's just money for nothing.

Unfortunately I had dollars and is a little more difficult to get around with out getting Kc But for us that came from the American Continent the ATMs from American banks are our best option. In Terminal 1 which is the international terminal as soon you get to the main corridor to your left there are several bank's machines the best rate for us is the one from CityBank My bank has alliance and didn't charge me anything but some other guys were talking around 2% and the exchange rate is the official everyday. So no problem. Also there is a exchange Machine for people who has cash but the rate is not that good but better than other airports. 17 per dollar.
If you guys need a simcard there is a place in Terminal 2 in the same main corridor just walk to the other direction (right) all the way to the end and go next to the airlines desks. There is a Vodafone store, The guys there speak good English and can activate and set up a local or international sim or if you need Internet they can do it as well. Just MAKE SUre your phone is Not blocked other wise you will need to go to downtown to unblocked. My Iphone wasn't unblocked and couldn't get the Internet service So I had to use my old good friend little Nokia.
Transportation. If you travel lite you can take the bus 119 from the Airport to Dejvicka Metro Station Just ask the guy in the Public Transportation Stand tickets. They will tell you the details but is very simple is just to cross the big road as soon you get to the station. Metro is just there. Only 40 kc But better if you buy a 3 day or 24 day pass because is good for all that time and for all metro lines, bus and trans.

Just a word of warning: Be very careful when someone. Usually of middle east origin. Approaches you in the street outside a foreign exchange store (often with a calculator in hand as if that makes them some kind of expert) and quotes better rates than the established store you are headed to. A one song lap-dance in a private booth costs 1000czk (no touch) , or 1500czk if you want to touch. I think this place require an entry fee of 3-400czk, but if you get the people working in the street outside to take you to the club you'll get 5 beers included in the price. The waiters are a bit slow with giving you the beer though as they know they do not make more money for it, so ask the guys in the street to clarify what the present prices are as they vary over the week and how busy it is. The "pussy galore" cost 4000czk, and covers the stag on the stage with 4 girls. You can also get a 0. 7l of spirit with mixers for 3000czk (see erotic menu).
As you can see the prices are a bit high, but I feel that the prices are quite standardized across Prague. In fact you can get full service at several other places cheaper than the lap-dances, but some of the girls at Goldfingers and Hot Peppers are really Hot, and if you manage to stay away from the champagne you could have a really nice time at these places. I would stay away from Rio and Captain Nemo close to the old town square, as I feel these places are more of a rip-off. As a general tip I would go to one of the local oriented pubs in the nearby streets for a cheap pre-party before going to the strip club, and then try and stick to drinking beer at the club.

It might be a bit expensive, and the girl usually have to register in the reception, but I think this might be due to insurance and might apply to all hotel. They never charged extra for this (I booked a double room for two persons as the price was the same as for one person). Also it has never been a problem getting a girl to the room.

If the both of you did quickly clean yourselfs within seconds / minute I would country on that you will not be contracted with any STD. But as previous written keep an eye of your member and potentially visit a doctor for a checkup, just to sade or to make sure that your worries is sorter out.
