I have never been hustled for tips at the Viru hotel, I DO sometimes give the guys a tip, as I do at the bar, it saves time and energy all round, but never 100! As to Robinson, I never really have goten the hang of the place. It seems almost like a holding area for the girls in taxis. For sure, as a foreigner (non Russian) and probably relatively old, one stands out like a sore thumb.
If you want a girl then go downstairs and chat to the guy on the garde-robe, he will sort you out, in fact will probably suggest it. It is worth popping him a couple of Euro, if you are renting from there. The gils that Robinson's management round up are NOT the same as you will see in the main bar on the ground floor.
BTW wages are going up at about 10% per year and inflation is about 3%. Yes, your quick shag is going to cost more, although in all honesty, 1200eek is only about 200 more than it was five years ago.
One last thought, I would never bother with the apartments... cheap expereinces for folk who want their sex to be impersonal; and with ugly girls. The houses usually have the best that is on offer. The quality tends to improve in the summer.

Thanks for your concern Dusty, you probably like me are a well seasoned traveller, I accept the fact I was probably unlucky and didn't hit the right spots.
However I am making some parallels I have just spent a couple of days in the Bilbao region and visited a night club there Libertys near Vitoria, I had a Colombian girl 26 years old she was a stunner her arse was typical Colombian and excellent service was provided the cost 50 euro for 45 mins.

When you go to one of the brothels in the suburbs, you are paying 'furriner' prices.
If you take a girl from a nightclub, then more like €100-150 for the night. Perhaps less.
If you take a girl from Robinson, then you are buying into the taxi system and that will cost about €24 per hour, although at Robinson, you will also pay €24 for the sauna. Try to get the taxi drivers number, or the girls, cost will then drop to perhaps half the figure if the girl is called, or at least, if taxi is called, the 'sauna fee' is avoided.

Been here in Tallin for two weeks now and wanted to put in my two cents to the scene down here. All previous reports here are quite accurate with respect to the brothels and privates.
However, I find that the night club scene isn't much fruitful. Nice ladies out here but only for a good night out. Difficult to spot the semi's and working ones. Things don't get easy with a lot of the drunk scandinavian and finnish guys hitting on the ladies by the dozens. Put the women on guard for one trying to approach them later. Went out to the night club Venus on friday, first night in town, lot of girls but nothing clicking. Went to B&C and was packed with people from tours and a few old hags in the 40's range.

Of course I spent only a couple of long weekends there, but I got around, I hit Morgan's twice, Club 102 twice, went to the famous Pronski 7-11, chatted with working girls in Amigos - and every single one - except one girl in Club 102 - was Russian!
You have to keep in mind there is a bit of economic disparity between Estonian Estonians and Russian Estonians. The Russian contingent overall is a few steps behind the Estonian Estonians. The Estonians are more successful and hold a larger number of higher positions in govt. and industry. Percentage wise of course, since number wise is a given as there are more than double the number of Est. Estonians than Russian Estonians.
This also explains the seeming higher number of Russian girls in the trade compared to Estonians. Since they are poorer, they are more likely to turn to paid sex for income.
As for quality, I've been with both. You can't tell the difference. It depends on the girl. Of course, they both don't come anywhere close to the Brazilian girls. Morgans is now closed, apparently, and Club 102 is in a house out in the woods somewhere, but if you ask a cab driver he will take you there. If one cab driver doesn't know, the next one will. From what I can remember it's out past Pirita somewhere.

Art 68 you are absolutely correct about Club 102. It is past Pirita and near the television tower. I've been there on several occasions but can't tell you the address. OK, went to Tallinn for a long weekend, within 20 minutes I remembered why I love this town. Even if you take out the mongering aspect, it's still a lovely town and there's still lots of beautiful girls just walking around.
3 negatives:
Last year when I was in the Old Town, it still felt pretty undiscovered. This year it's heaving with tourists, far more than last year, the EU accession must really have made a difference. I saw what many of us from the UK try to avoid, the standard drunken English louts who get hammered, stick to themselves and go to bars where they expect everyone to speak English so fluently that they understand regional accents that even people from London have problems understanding. Also lots of "Marthas and Hanks" from Midwest USA, "Oh my God, isn't that so PRETTY!" Plus busloads of Japanese tourists. And of course the American college kids "doing Europe" who look like they escaped from a Limp Bizkit concert!
So thankfully I hardly spent any time in the Old Town, because I hooked up with another member, Maximus, who knows the country like the back of his hand. If it hadn't been for him I think I would have been quite lost, so cheers Max. He and a group of us mongers hit other bars, restaurants, even made a day trip to Parnu where I had a picture taken with a group of foxy Russian girls on a bachelorette party who made any English hen party look absolutely drab in comparison. Being Russian they of course demanded money to take a photo with them :)! LOVE this country! I may post the photo since it's a harmless non-sexual one, not sure what the guidelines are on this.
OK negative 2. Part of the fun on my previous 2 pre-EU visits was that I was able to visit a variety of houses and chill and have a good time. Unfortunately the government is cracking down, and there was only one which I visited while I was there. Negative 3. Joining the EU seems to have tightened visa controls, because all the girls in the house were Estonian Russians, generally from smaller towns. Most of the well-known houses will close September 1st so if you are thinking of going, you have a month to take full advantage!
Don't know about picking up non-pros, still have the impression you have to be there for a while and you've got to seem sincere. I'm of Indian origin and while I got some looks last year, this year there were so many minorities from UK, France Germany that I was no longer so exotic :-( Funnily enough I did get checked out and smiled at invitingly by a couple of girls in the street but unfortunately they were in the 14-15 year range which is a little too young for my liking!
There you have it folks, how a country has changed since my report of a visit 11 months ago. Still a fantastic, clean and safe place, but probably far more enjoyable if you can meet up with a local contact and avoid tourist traps.

yes, it is true, houses will be closed as we know them now. Probably owners will set up similiar places but they will be membership based or at least driver have to talk you in. This might also mean increase to the prices.
Seems it will be even more important to know people in near future- public and open offer will come to minimum - working girls itself will not disappear.
Current brothels will be closed. The action is taken against pimps. Apartments shared by girls will continue and as there is nothing to stop people renting a room for short periods, my guess is that the existing places will close and reopen on the basis that the punter pays to rent a room from the managment and selects a gril to whom he pays a fee.
In appearance at least there is no pimpage and the system carries on.

I have noticed the same as you. Tallinn is being destroyed. Last year - and the year before - was fantastic. This year everything has changed (i've been there tree times this summer).

The tourism thing is getting a bit silly, I agree, but not in quite the way that others suggest. At least the Britons have some money, want to spend it and there are relatively few of them. Other travellers often seem to be members of the 'travelling poor'. So now, we seek new places and leave the old haunts to tourists. I expect that dress codes will start to make an appearance and a few more members clubs. I find myself looking forward to the winter months once more.
HRCHRISTER: I didn't say I got less or more smiles this year, I just said that nobody even looked at me twice this year because now they are so used to seeing different people. This means that whereas before you would get checked out because you were unique, and maybe you could start a conversation from that, now you can't. (People would come up to me last summer and start conversations, now they didn't). I also wouldn't say it's necessarily that you're in a minority they think you're dirty or sleazy, but unfortunately they can tell automatically that you are not from there, therefore chances are you are a tourist, and as a male tourist on his own, they probably automatically assume you're a sex tourist... so you must be dirty and sleazy just like all the other tourists! The only difference really is that they can identify you as a tourist a lot faster! Probably also true of people from mediterranean countries like Spain or Italy or Portugal who often don't look like the average Estonian.
But I never got that feeling anyway, people were always nice. Then again, I made it a point to learn some basic estonian phrases the first time I went and I always try and say "hello" and "please" in estonian, it's amazing how far that takes you (unlike, say, France).
DUSTY BIN: From what I saw in the expat bars this year, I can only imagine how pissed off resident foreigners are now that the "floods" are coming in. I don't even live there and I was pissed off! The first time I went, I basically went out with some Brits and Irish people from the consulates there and in St Petersburg. This year, even though there were tons of Brits I stayed as far away as possible. The only good thing about the Brits is that yes, they do seem to want to spend their money, and also, as drunk as they get, there's still some sort of repression thing happening, they won't as blatantly approach girls for paid sex - I don't think they've really gained this reputation in a lot of countries.
But the good news about Estonia is that really, outside the old town and centre, most tourists don't seem to want to venture (ok the Finns, but they have a longer history with Estonia and they have a language advantage). I think this means there are still lots of places in Estonia to see and adventure in. Just trying to work out my finances to see how I could spend a year there!

Art68. mmmh...i would be a little bit careful living other places than Tallinn in Estonia if your not nordic looking. In the west part you got Pärnu, where it is a lot of rasism against all foreigners. I have been there a lot, and i can't count how many times local men has made trouble just because i have lot of girlfriends there (i'm kinda big, so they just send me ugly sights and comments, but i have seen other tourist been beaten the hell of).
And in the eastern part, like Tartu and other cities, you got skinheads, and a lot of skeptism towards minorities. This is in general. Use you money in other countries.

But Parnu seemed a nice place to visit. Anyway, there's a lot of towns in the UK I wouldn't choose to live either (and I'm sure there are towns in Eastern Germany I would not choose to live either). Local arseholes are local arseholes anywhere.

With all due respect, I kindly disagree with you on the racial hatred. Probably their skinheads don't like Swedes, Finns or Germans but local Estonian people are genetically close to them. Basically they don't like people of black (black dick is sth different for the local women), Asian, Arab or maybe Hispanic looks. Its a pure biological thing and its got nothing to do with alien culture. Although I have never been to Estonia, I do believe what you have experienced is very unusual. posting the words 'Its better if you look.' is somewhat misleading for the nonwhite participants on the forum. I lived in the Scandinavia for more than 7 yrs and I do know whats on their minds. Skinheads are virtually the same all over East Europe and there is no reason for skinheads in Estonia to do sth radical against white while their conterparts in Russia do the minorities.

For some reason that I do not know, a poster is writing inaccurate stuff about skinheads, violence and discrimination.

I do not see skinheads, but I am not blind.
Among some groups it is fashionable to have very cropped hair. Some of these guys belong to 'sporting clubs' and some of these groups are racist.
But, they are not skinheads in the sense that a Briton or German might recognise. Nor is there any great degree of street crime or violence, other than the normal puppy fights between drunk teenagers that provide more amusement and spectacle for both locals and tourists than threat to anyone.
It is true that if you get drunk enough that you can not control yourself, or that you make yourself a victim, then you may, just as anywhere else, find yourself in unpleasant circumstances, but then the same would apply in any city in any part of the world.
BTW, I do not live in an expat ghetto, I live in a working class suburb, I am safe from harm, even though I am the only foreigner living within a kilometer in any direction.
While it is true that the recent influx of European travellers has changed the character of the city's social scene (for the worse -IMHO) the place is friendly and fun.
BTW - notes to Italian guys!
1) Not all women in clubs are prostitutes! Most are not!
2) Spend some money guys, this is a relatively poor country, but you guys make it look like you are coming from a third world nation.
3) Please do a reality check--- when you are hitting on a woman why make the women laugh at you by trying to pull a woman old enough to be your mother?
4) In Europe, men commonly use an item of male grooming called a razor. They can be bought in many shops and kiosks, try using one sometimes!
5) Stay in an hotel, not a hostel. That one letter makes a lot of difference between being a member of the travelling poor and being a respectable traveller!

I think that any of us, expatriate or long-term living in a foreing country, is able to write a list of suggestions for people new to the scene.
And this applies to any "newbie", no matter where they come from: Germiany, Usa, England or Tonga Islands.
I am living in Thailand and I could write a book about "how middle aged english man are screwed by young and cute thai girls".
But there is no point in semi-racist remarks like yours.
I don't want to defend Italians but I find this kind of humour a little bit silly.

I think Dusty Bin's analysis is closest to what I personally saw.
While it is too extreme to say that there are skinheads rampaging down the streets of Estonia beating up anybody of a darker complexion, it is also too extreme to say that they would ignore such people and concentrate on scandinavian tourists. I think it would be more like they would beat up a black person, but if none were around they would find the nearest finnish guy and beat him up. Or Italian. Or all of them.
Of course I'm sure there are some, but I personally saw none, and even forgetting them, I didn't personally feel any bad or unfriendly looks from people, just slightly bemused or curious. I think if the circumstances were right for lots of skinhead groups to appear, you would also feel unfriendliness from a lot of "normal" people, the skinheads being an extreme manifestation of the dislike most people would have. However most Estonian people in my opinion were friendly. If there are some extremist groups I feel it would be the exception not the rule.
Anyway, I will say this, and I think any visible minority member who has spent his whole life in a European country would agree with me, you develop a kind of "6th sense" a kind of early warning system when you go anywhere. Without really consciously thinking about it, you look to see the kind of looks or the kind of silences that greet you. You are always that little bit extra aware, especially when you go into a place you have never been or you are not that familiar with. The one good thing about extremist racists is that they are not such good actors, you can pretty much tell within a couple of seconds of looking at the hostility in their eyes that it's a good time to leave. So, even if there are such dangers in Estonia, I doubt I or many other minority posters would just casually stroll in without thinking or keeping an eye out and say something foolish like, "Hey guys! Where de white women at?"
Of course, nobody can guarantee a 100 % safety but with common sense you can reduce the chances of something bad happening to a minimum.

There is a reason for this. There are now direct flights from Italy for about 120Euro. This is pretty cheap and the result is that Fabrizio, Antonio and the boyz are making the trip over. This evening, most had gone home; there were noticably fewer guys with fuzzy chops wandering around in packs.
Loads of English guys go to Thailand specifically to be screwed by Thai girls. There is a large industry devoted to the care and maintenance of guys who want commercial sex. In Tallinn, there is not, but many guys, but particularly noticably, this summer, Italian guys who think all Estonian women are on the game and will go all round heeled for a poorly groomed Italian with no money...
I doubt that in Thailand there are many young Britons walking the street in normal downtown areas, approaching girls and doing the same in places where ordinary people go for a night out with their friends...
I think that other posters who have been in Tallinn in recent weeks will have seem the same as I.
I did not take your post the wrong way, I understood exactly what you were trying to say, but if you are familiar with the 'style' of your working class countrymen, you will understand the points I was making. The Italians are, in this respect, very different to the Britons, who almost universally have plenty of money and a somewhat better set of manners. Poor Finns usually travel with their wives to buy beer and food, Germans and Spanish usually with families.
I saw three of the most gorgeous girls last night. It turned out that they were with three Britons over for the weekend. When I saw them together I could understand how the guys had done so well. The Britons were as well dressed as their girls, they behaved well with them and to make the final seal on the deal, it was obvious that some time had been spent, in the afternoon, with the three beauties, doing some shopping. They made a very attractive group, a pleasure to see and I am certain that all six had a very pleasant time.
There is a difference.

Im totally agree with you. I've been to Tallinn a lot of times, twice the 8 last weeks, and i have seen the same as you about the Italians. And no, Alejandro66, he did not say semi-racist remarks. He just said the truth - something everyone in Tallinn can see, if they want.
This is something i see from miniority-men also (in general). No affense, Art68, but in general i notice a bit different view and attitude towards blond nordic woman from many minitory men, than we Nordic men do. All this is destroying the friendliness the estoinan girls are known for. In a couple of years from now, friendly Tallinn has become just the same as the cities in their western neigbourcountries after years with (to much) immigration.

But now they can take back as much booze and brew as they can carry after the small country of 1.4 million people joined the European Union in May.
Estonia's Finance Ministry plans to raise the tax on strong liquor by 20 percent from next year, but Estonian prices on alcohol will still remain far below Finnish levels.
A bottle of Estonian vodka currently cost around 5 to 6 euros ($6 to $7) compared with just above 16 euros in Finland even after Finnish authorities slashed alcohol taxes March in fear of the so-called "Vodka rallies" spiraling out of control after EU enlargement.

I'm not entirely sure this is the place to voice them, based on a one-sentence comment I made in my report, but of course editorial decisons are best left to Jackson. DUSTY BIN: In all fairness , I think so far Tallinn has been lucky with Brits. Its starting to get a name here now - tonight on BBC 2's Newsnight they had an entire segment on Tallinn, showing some of the stag parties who are headed over, and they were basically probing the question of making money on one hand versus the effects of this kind of tourism on the city. I'm kind of gloomy about this, just thinking that 12 months ago I headed over to a place hardly anyone here had heard about and now its becoming a by-word for drunkenness and bad behaviour. I just hope the police nip any stupidity in the bud. The thing is, the Brits who are coming over at the moment are a little bit more resourceful, they've done some research, they had to find the one airline that flies directly from the UK to Tallinn - all that will change once you get some low cost airline flying there and travel agencies really start pushing Estonia - unfortunately then Tallinn will see the really low-rent Brits. I hope I'm wrong, I really don't want to see it become a Baltic version of Benidorm or Magaluf, but I don't think I am.
Anyway, I think I'm headed over for the August Bank Holiday with a bunch of friends who want to see it before it becomes spoiled. It still hasn't completely lost its charm for me.

the Britons who come to Tallinn are generally speaking quite well off. This is a result of ther geographic origin. Usually they come from the London area, the richest in the UK, this is because the flights leave from Gatwick and so unless you are local, the times make a quick weekend visit impractical. On a BBC Newsnight programe last night, a British group were interviewed, they were planning to spend, EACH about 1000Euro, on top of their accommodation and travel. THis is a lot of money and very few other groups have this kind of spending power.
I know, from my connections that this is far from uncommon, they spend a lot of money. The Italians, in contrast do not have this kind of money, or if they do, are happy to hide it.
This does not mean that all Britons are wealthy, although those who travel tend to spend a lot, but many tourists are like the typical Italian Tallinn visitor, quite poor. They have yet to arrive in Tallinn because of the cost.

A thought to remember: Stag trips to Tallinn have become something of a 'hot-button' in both the UK and Estonia (and possibly Italy), but during 2003 there were less than 30,000 British visitors to Tallinn in the whole year. There are more Finns on any given weekend, than Britons in a year. Tour companies like to see the guys wearing the same T -shirts or polo shirts, it helps to identify them. This is good becasue they can be easily identified if there is a problem and frankly there are very few problems. I am associated with a firm that is in the stag trip field, although you will not have heard the name; to the best of my recollection, there was last year, one arrest, of one Briton and he went off home with a caution.
Essentially, this is a storm in a tea cup. Tallinn is learning to accommodate groups of young lads who, unlike Finns, do not get drunk and go to sleep. It is easier to accommodate those with money than those without. It will not take long for girls to recognise who are 'good company' and who are not. Sadly, they will tend to generalise, that is bad for all of us who live in Tallinn, but worst for those whose countrymen do not make good company.
There is actually very little bad behaviour, from any national group. My comments about the Italians were more about social ineptitide than bad behaviour. One does not feel threatened by their presence, other than wanting to call the fashion police! ;)
Tallinn and Estonia as a whole are a delight.
So, back on topic...
When you travel, spend some money, be nice and help the girls to have a good time. After all, how many of them actually WANT to fuck you for money? If you are sensible, I am sure that the supply of round heeled lovelies will expand to meet the demand.

I still remember the time I was one Havana beach with two girls. 4 Italians guys who were there near us had been eyeing one chica had the nerve to call her and ask for her number. Talk about a lack of respect !

Italians i think as a general population are extreamly nice and friendly.
I will admit that i have seen some italians in rome go from on american/english/german girl after another tring to pick them up. This was very strange to me and i maybe even though it was rude. But i tell you what i never saw them leave empty handed. I dont think they are better looking than the others in the bar but the group of english guy I saw tring to blow there drinks through a straw at a italian did not impress to many women. So in the end italian men may be a bit forward and even rude when it comes to picking up girls but like they say if you dont ask the answer is always no, but if you ask enough then someone will say yes.
So i must also say that not all italians are like this. the same as i hope not all english men are hooligans.

I also think that you have not been reading very far or very long, or you simply could not have written as you did. I have made a single post with two follow ups that adressed discussion points from that post.
Most Italians I know and have met are just fine. I lived with one for a while and when he finally learned that his mummy was not going to wash his clothes any more, he was great. They are usually polite and good company. I am happy to have an Italian friend here in Tallinn. The guys to whom I referred displayed the traits I mentioned. Others have commented and explained why it is so. I learned something.
Do I assume that you are an Italian with a newly found complex?

I went out to play last night.
On my way home, I popped into Amigo, it is on the way home and entrance is free for me.
The place was really crowded. Much more than a normal Wednesday. Two strange things.
1) Many more guys than girls.
2) Everything with a pussy had been dragged in to serve the additional clients.

I was chatting to a woman at the bar. Alongside me, one of the pensioners dragged in to service the new clients was being earnestly chatted up by Ernesto, who was 25 if if he was a day. TO be fair, she was good looking for a 50+ year old, but her best days were behind her. Possibly she had come out with her grand daughter?
The Italian thing is getting very funny now. They are quite well behaved, but some of the younger ones need to watch themselves. Not so much in the clubs, but in the street and Mickey D's. It is not their fault, but some of the young girls 15-16 are coming on to these lads who are only very young also. The girl's Russian boyfriends are not happy to see this flirting with their girls, even though it is the girls instigating it!
There will be trouble. Young girls like to see thier guys fighting over them, same the world over. The Russian lads will fight, I doubt many of the Italians will be ready for the consequences.
I was happy, I found what I was looking for and left. I guess I am looking for different things to many of the visitors. Probably most visitors will find that there is enough to go round, notwithstanding the number of guys last night, most seemed happy to stand and stare.
I never been in Tallin, but I am use to go to Bratislava where often when I am not hunting. Sorry threaten with kalasnikov every women I say to have sex with me. I enjoy myself looking to polite-self-control british people sing late night drunk across the street on Stare Mesto, Old City, in Blava.
Particularly one pub, Dubliner, seems to show so well which kind of people are british people (yes we know the problem of hooligans tipically england problem for all the state has English football team as guest is nothing compare with one or two Italians that that in holiday touch the ass of one woman.) Lukasek, I realise the English is not your first language. Because of this you probably missed the meaning of almost all of that I wrote.
So, you will have missed the points where I talked about the generally good behaviour of the Italians (the reason why I assume you needed to start a rant in a language that you do not use too well.)
You will have missed that I was pointing out things that would make it easier for Italians to acheive success. Most of what I wrote was hardly critical except in broad terms. I mean frankly, do you think that it is the most sensible thing in the world to be led on by a bunch of little girls when the likely response is a good kicking (at best) from the girl's boyfriends? Most travellers are aware of these issues, the current crop of Italians, because of their heritage/background seems unaware. The older guys seem more interested in older women, I don't know why, but they could do so much better, if they removed their beer goggles.
I was not claiming that all Britons everywhere were well behaved, they are not. I was, however, noting the differences between the Italian situation in Estonia and the British situation in Estonia. Sorry you could not understand what I wrote and also that you have no practical experience that allows you to debate objectively the point.
My points were much more along the line of 'hunting tips'. If you or anyone else can not understand them as such, becasue of language or other deficits, please do not involve yourself in discussion of them. If you understand what I wrote, then there is no need for criticism, or comparitive, but much more pejorative rants about another nation's people.
I will be happy, if a single Italian, Briton, Dutchman or Finn reads the previous posts and as a result learns enough to avoid a kicking, find a woman from the same generation as himself, or knows to stay in an hotel or apartment rather thanthe cheapest form of accommodation, used by the travelling poor worldwide, and rejected as a suitable trysting place, almost universally by women of easy, or negotiable virtue!
There is a reason why women ask where a man is staying (or had you not figured that out?)
If the streets were hoaching with Britons, Germans, Finns etc doing the same as the Italians I would cheerfully and accurately have described their behaviour in the same terms.

I often read the reports of this forum to get some info about the scene in the cities where I need to go for my business. This is my first post and I think I must do it as I'm an Italian and have been several times in Tallinn in the past 8 months. Sorry if my English is not perfect, but hope you will understand me anyway.
I'm a typical 38 y.o. italian guy, dark haired, fit and quite tall (more than italian average). I take care about my appearance and I keep my business attire often also after dinner (italian suits are still best of breed fashion, or not?). Even if I don't care to spend money (believe me I can spend a lot when a cutie is really hot!) I prefer to hunt freebies or semi-pros. No ethic in this, I just like the thrill of the hunt (if the quest takes to time I need anyway a pro...)
I easily got GFE anytime I was in Tallinn. Of course not all the girl are waiting for me to be shagged... I would say that I score every 3-4 and I rigorously avoid teens. I use eye contact in restaurants or expat bars (like Malone or Nimega) or simply send a bottle of champagne to the girl I'm interested in (if I'm in a disco bar like Mrs. Robinson or Venus). When the girl smiles and accept I go straight on, if not I immediately give up, as I don't want to bother anyone.
I don't think I'm rude behaving this way. That doesn't mean I'm greedy. A girlfriend is a lot of restaurants, travels, gifts. Treat them nice and you will get the best time you can imagine! A couple of girls came to Italy for a romantic week-end. Just be honest to keep out marriage thoughts and illusions
I have to say that my experience in Tallinn is not different from other places. I have more or less the same hit rate in many other countries (only UK is always really tough for me)
I slightly agree that the scene in Tallinn got worse last july. A lot of italian young people messing all around, but also several drunk Finns and Britons. One night I helped a couple of Scottish guys with more spirit than blood in the veins to reach their room in the Radisson where I use to stay
I will be back in Tallinn in september and I will be happy to offer you a beer to show that Italians can have fun in a polite way

I visited Tallinn this weekend, and i noticed the same thing that Dusty Bin has been saying. I even saw some Italian-looking got a nasty beating near Suur-Karja.
But even if Dusty tells the truth or not i don't care. This "problem" vil solute itselves. The esonian girls has clearly began to notice their behaviour and sadly enough the local boys seems to haunt them down. Soon the planes from south will be "empty", at least not so full of pussyhunters.

Wow! this exchange is still going on! As far as I can recall it began after my last report in Tallinn back in July. While you guys have been arguing I was busy researching the internet for cheap flights and arranging another trip :-) ! Just came back from a long weekend there.
Great 4 days, the ordinary girls you see walking around the street are still phenomenal. This time I took 3 friends along from the UK and they were turning their heads every few seconds. As one of them remarked, "You can tell the guys who have just come back from Tallinn - they're the ones who have neck braces!"
It was actually nicer this time than in July. Still hordes of tourists, but not nearly as many as in July. And can I just say, I saw very few Italians. Maybe Dusty Bin and H R Christer scared them off!
I'm afraid this isn't going to be a true report, because on this, my 4th trip to Tallinn in a year, I actually never paid for it! (I know, its shocking, isn't it). As a matter of fact I met a nice divorced lady around my age (late 30's) and ended up spending 3 nights with her. Fantastic time - Estonian girls seem very reserved in public, but boy, judging from this one, they are tigresses in bed.
However, my friends did partake of paid pleasures, and as announced in earlier posts, it is still quite easy to find P4P, even without houses. It just involves having local contacts. Estonia didn't just turn into a rich country overnight, and there are still thousands of beautiful girls available for what is, by Western European standards, a paltry sum.
Still, if you fancy a change, its worth hitting one of the bars in the Old Town and trying to strike up a conversation with a local Estonian or Russian girl. I'm studying Russian at the moment, and I have learnt some Estonian phrases, and its amazing how endearing speaking a little bit of either of these languages seems to make you to Estonian or Russian girls!

I have recently returned from the Baltics and thought I would post some details of my trip as 'pay back' for all the valuable information obtained from the WSG site.
Firstly, I would publicly like to thank Dusty Bin for all the information provided by him prior to this trip to Tallinn, and also my earlier visits this year to Helsinki and Tallinn. He was very patient in answering my numerous and at times 'stupid questions'. We met up 3 times during my visit for a drink and visits to Cafe Amigo, Bonnie and Clyde e.t.c.
I did notice a lot of Italians in both Tallinn and Riga. This is probably due to 2 factors. Cheap flights and peak holiday season in Italy.
Without wishing to 'stoke up the embers' of the previous posts, my impression of the local attitudes to all the visiting tourisits, regardless of nationality, is that in the main 'money talks'. He/She who spends it freely is most warmly welcomed, those that do not, get the 'cold shoulder'. Unfortunately a large number falling within the category of not spending did appear to be Italian men. Not all I hasten to add, but those generaly falling within the under 30 age group. They were easily recognisable in the nightclubs and bars having sunglasses perched upon their heads, sweaters or other woollens tied around their waists, and being in groups of 5+ .
Back to the matter in hand. My trip was mainly work with as much play as I could fit in. I followed the advice of Dusty and other members of this board and obtained an apartment rather than a hotel for my stay. This not only worked out significantly cheaper, but allowed the hobby to be pursued without undue questions being asked by hotel staff. The apartment was arranged via the RED Group (www.redgroup.ee). It was located within a few minutes walk of the Radisson Hotel and Stockmans Depatmental store. The cost was 62 Euro per night for a one double bedroom apartment, including being picked up from the airport.
My first night entailed meeting a colleague for a few drinks at Molloy Malones in the market square. I left there some time after midnight and went to the Cafe Amigo with him. The Amigo was quieter than I was expecting. By the time my colleague departed it was almost 3:00 a.m. and there were slim pickings. I was reasonably drunk due to not having eaten much but consuming plenty of booze. I was determined not to leave alone on my first night. I left with a 40+ year old blond about 4.5, who's name I cannot remember. She wanted 60Euro (900EEK) for S/T, but eventually settled for 50 Euro for a double. Service was OK. First time was BBJ followed by FS in missionary and cowgirl. Second time was BBJ and doggie. By this time it was 06:00 and I booted her out as I needed my sleep. Her request for additional Taxi money was just ignored.
The second day had me feeling very tired and hungover after the previous day/nights weary travelling, working, drinking and sex. I was working in the apartment and making a lot of phone calls. During the start of the afternoon I was feeling horny again. I knew it would be difficult to leave the apartment due to awaiting a courier arrival, so I decided to order in. I had done some research on the net prior to my arrival and had some local phone numbers. I tried a few and they were very relectant to visit. I managed to contact Svetlana, who's details I had obtained from the Sihteeriopisto site. I arranged a time but she did not turn up. I received a phone call saying she was runing 15 mins late. I waited and waited, but nothing. I telephoned her and she said she was about to get in Taxi. I told her not to bother as it was more than an hour after the agreed time.
I got my old copy of 'Tallinn this week' and had a look at the section dealing with massage. I phoned Laguna massage +372 581 13825. I was asked my requirements and they said they would send 3 girls over in 40 mins for me to take my pick. 40 mins later I received a phone call asking me to meet the 'boss' downstairs outside the building. I was escorted to the car where I picked a 23 year old black haired Russian girl. I payed him the agreed fee of 800EEK for 1 hour. (Cost is 600EEK when an incall) The 'boss' gave me his direct cell phone number and said he would be more than happy to be of service in the future. During the meal the resteraunt had a Latin floor show. Dusty stated the dancers were provided from the same organisation which provides the cabaret for one of the 'clubs'. I think it may have been Galaxy.
After the meal we went to Bonnie and Clydes at the Reval Olympic Hotel. The club had some stunnigly attractive girls, but they were aware of this fact and it was obvious they were only there 'to be seen'. A number of older women started to drift in but it these were working. After a few drinks we decided to carry on to Cafe Amigo. The Amigo was reasonably busy for a Friday night with its usual mix of an older clientele than B&C. There were working girls, semi working girls, and I am sure some amateurs. The problem was trying to sift the amateurs from the others.
Not long after our arrival we met up with Dusty's current lady and a friend of hers called Irina. She looked about 30 years old, had brunette shoulder length hair and a slim figure, but with curves in the right places. I started talking to Irina who seemed interested. By this time it was approaching 04:00 and I was dead on my feet. I needed to get to bed. I was interested in meeting Irina in the future as there was something about her which even in my tired state strongly appealed to me, but I did not wish to appear too eager (Big mistake), so I made my appoligies and left, knowing full well I could get her phone number from Dusty's lady.
I spoke to Dusty the next afternoon to get the phone number. He told me she was very interested in meeting up again. When I told him of the previous evenings events, he told me I had made a huge mistake. Irina being of Russian stock and used to Russian men did not understand the underlying message of 'a coffee at my place'. I was told I should have been much more direct; along the lines of 'do you want to come back to my place for sex'. I have explained this in detail to highlight the difference in attitudes and expectations between what we are used to in Western Europe and North America and elsewhere. I know this is a case of being wise after the event, but I hope other mongers benefit from using the local direct approach.

Well on the morning of my third day in Tallinn I managed to get out of bed at 10:00 am. I was feeling better than I had been for a number of days. I did a little shopping for the essentials, beer, phone card, vodka, fruit juice and spare condoms. By this time it was approaching 12:00pm. As most of the afternoon and early evening was free I decided to grab some food and do some sight seeing.
I went to the market square and sat outside Mollys for a beer and some breakfast/brunch. I decided to sit outside in order to allow my wandering eyes to look over the local sights, by which I am referring to the women. Unfortunately at this time of day most of these appeared to be tourists wearing anoraks, as rain was expected, and not locals.

Whilst back at the bar we saw 2 dark haired women arrive one was slim 30 - 35 the other with a great visible rack, appeared 35 -40. We started talking to them and things were going great guns. They disappeared to the toilets. We were waiting for them to return but nothing. Very strange both Dusty and myself looked at each other and said ‘that’s not happened to me before’.
The dark haired beauty seen earlier was on her own at this stage so I went over to her. Dusty said his goodbyes and departed. I am afraid it was a no go. Natalie made it plain she was off home very shortly, not up for a one nighter but was looking for a long term boyfriend. I took her phone number. You never know when it might come in handy!
I left the Amigo about 1/2 hour after Dusty. Outside about 100 meters from the Viru heading towards the old town, I was asked for a light by a black haired girl in her early to mid 20s, who said she was from the Ukraine (about a 5.5). I have just been chompin at the bit to post this. I have never been to Talin ( although it is on my short list for a number of reasons ) and I actually live in Cancun, Mexico.
The reason for this post is to tell you that everything that has recently been said about the Italians is 100% true here too! They must be the same the world over. They have virutally no respect for the girls or for that matter for the guys they are with. Any one who disagrees is simply delusional or has never seen it first hand. If they act there like they do here, any beatings the Russian or Estonian boys lay on them is well deserved.

When doing my research prior to my visits to Tallinn I looked at a number of hotels.
The Uniquestay was amongst the cheapest prices quoted for hotels but was too far out of the centre for my taste. I think the same applied to L'Ermitage.
I noticed the prices quoted for apartments reduced in either September or October, due to the end of the tourist season. Personally I would recommend an apartment very strongly having experienced both hotel and apartment stays. Some, if not most, hotels insist on booking in any 'extra' visitors spending the night. ID will be required by them to do this -can be very off putting and embarassing.
If you are looking for a hotel in particular, what are your main considerations ? Price ? Location ? Facilities ?

I wish to lay down some guidelines to those of you who have never been to Tallinn.
From the private messages I have been receiving lately, I think many have been misguided.
1) First of all, Tallinn is no sexual playgroung. If you want a sex holiday go Thailand or Brasil.
2) Regulars are as hard to get as any other European Country. Estonia is no third world country, with hungry people on its streets and girls only too willing to spend the night with a foreigner for a small tip. I spent most of my days checking out Tallin.
At night I hung out at pubs, clubs and visited a number of apartments. I hit 3 different apartments during my stay...all great fun.

I don't think at all that Tallinn is destroyed or ruined.
Of course it is not the same than 5 or 10 years ago, but it shouldn't even be. Economical growth, together with rapid increase of salaries and prices has of course changed pussy scene, both amateur and professional. just differnet way to read statistics. Average salary in Tallinn 2004 Q1 8419 eek, Ida-Virumaa 4 996 eek, four counties under it (Valga, Põlva, Võru and Jõgeva, lowest in Jõgeva 4803 eek). Average house hold size just bigger in Ida-Virumaa, lowering numbers statistics you refered showed. All the numbers also from www.stat.ee.
I didn't find numbers for Narva, but I remember it being close to 6000 eek per month. Thing of course is that in big cities salaries are higher (also house hold size smaller) and Narva is 3rd largest city in Estonia.
Also should remember that in rural areas big part of house hold income comes in cash lowering official numbers. In Tallinn there are many state institutions, big companies increasing the statistical average.
One thing also to remember, living costs in East Estonia are much lower than in Tallinn. So in the end, differences in standards of living are not so big than some numbers would first show.

A heroin user for most of his twenties, Yuri, 28, had been in prison for car theft near Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, for a year. When he came out he stayed clean, but only for six months. Then last week his life was torn apart when he found out he was HIV positive. He has yet to break the news to his 19-year-old girlfriend, Olga, with whom he has been having regular unprotected sex.
'I don't know how even to tell her about this,' Yuri told a health worker. 'I can't even go there.' He was shocked, because only one of the three other people he shared a drug spoon with was HIV positive, and this man always took his shot from the spoon last and they used different needles.
Yuri, who asked for his real name to be changed, has become a statistic in a health crisis that is threatening to envelop one of the European Union's newest members, a tiny Baltic state that became the EU's easternmost border last May. Estonia saw a massive rise in new HIV infections in 2000. Now an estimated 1 per cent of its 1.4 million population are HIV positive, one of the the highest rates in Europe.
Cheap flights and cheap alcohol bring thousands of holidaymakers and stag parties to Tallinn, a quaint city of cobbled streets which in the summer is full of young British men, now notorious here for their 'booze cruises'. This leads to a sexually charged atmosphere which may prove a key danger in the spread of the disease.
Nelli Kalikova, an MP and the former head of the city's anti-Aids centre, said the key problem in the next four years would be a spread of the virus among the heterosexual population.
The crisis has serious economic implications, not only for Estonia's tourism industry. Experts fear a strain on the economy in future as the country battles to treat an infected working population.
The number of new cases rose suddenly in 2000, although the rate has now slowed. But a different threat has emerged. The greatest rise in new cases is among young women aged between 15 and 19 - a trend ascribed by experts mainly to a young, sexually active population having unprotected sex.
They warn that those 15- to 24-year-olds who are newly infected now will, in 15 years' time, be Estonia's breadwinners. A government report last week warned last week that 2.3 per cent could be wiped off the country's economic worth by 2008.
Some say HIV-positive Estonians may use their visa privileges in the EU under the Schengen Convention - signed by Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Portugal and Spain , but not Britain - to seek better medical care in richer countries.
Ahead of World Aids Day next week, critics accuse the Estonian government of doing too little. Estonia ranks second in the former Soviet countries, behind Russia, for the highest number of newly reported HIV infections. But the entire government budget for Aids prevention and treatment is 10 million kroni a year - less than £500,000.
Irina Moroz, a doctor at an Aids centre in Tallinn, said: 'I was in Finland last week at a treatment centre with a budget of €3 million (£2.1m). That's nearly four times our entire national budget.'
Estonia's programmes are now subsidised by £6m from the Global Aids Fund, money not guaranteed for the future. The government, which critics say did virtually nothing from 1996 to 2002 while the disease was spreading, admits it must move fast to catch up.
Anneli Tall, its HIV/Aids specialist, admitted: 'We did not put enough effort in when HIV was among the risk groups like drug users.'
The priority now was to push the anti-Aids message in the education and health systems and the military.
Some HIV-positive Estonians are already looking overseas. 'Some of my patients are actively talking about going abroad to get better treatment,' said Moroz. 'These are women studying to be doctors or engineers, the skilled population of tomorrow.'
Julia, 34, who contracted HIV from a married man in August 2002, said: 'I do not know what the state is doing to help me as I have seen nothing.' She has a full-time job which gives her medical insurance that will pay for her drugs when she falls ill. 'I have not told my family about this [disease].
'Only three close friends know I am positive. I will tell my son, but only in the last few minutes of my life.'

The rate of discovery of new cases did tail off after 2001! What they did not say was that there has been little new infection since then.
The actual infection rate for HIV is actually 0.23% of the population. (as at 31st March 2003)
All other figures are confabulations based upon 'estimates' made assuming that the rate of discovery of infections would continue at the same rate as it did in 1999/2000, a time when there was a concerted effort, funded by WHO and the EU to uncover HIV in the population.

Whilst nobody suggests that unprotected sex is a good thing, the decrease in the incidence of other STDs is a decent indicator that sexual transmission of HIV is not a huge issue, except for those whose incomes and livelihoods depend upon a growing HIV problem. It should be remembered that money received to deal with HIV/AIDS that is spent upon health care support for these people almost always has a positive impact on the health care service as a whole, in the recipient country. For this reason, there is a vested interest in maximising the appearance of HIV for which there is abundant 'free' money.
The same situation can be seen in Russia where HIV funding supports TB care. There is no doubt about the incidence of TB, the target groups are coincident and so money for one purpose goes to support another.
There is little risk of a sensible punter picking up HIV on a trip to Tallinn.

Mongering-wise, I planned my trip to Tallinn a long time in advance, and sent a few messages to ladies posting ads on two sites : www.voodi.ee and www.kodutud.com. The snag was, all the ads were in Estonian, so it was sheer guess, but with some practice, you end up guessing right.

I have been to Tallinn twice in the last eight months. The first time I stayed in a hotel, the Viru, and the second in an apartment. There was nothing wrong with the hotel, but the apartment was better suited to our "hobby", i.e. no need to book in guests or the danger of housekeeping interupting at the most inconvinient moments. The girls prefer accompanying you to your apartment rather than your hotel room. The cost of my stay in the apartment was approx. 60% of the cost of the hotel.

The guy answered in English, told me I would be picked up in a private car. 80 Euros (a fortune here, equivalent of $1000 in US.) The driver, a nice guy, took me to two places.
The first place was called Mikado and was a little place, pretty well kept inside. There were a whole bunch of Russian girls there, mostly unattractive, and they were snickering at me in the corner, then trying to hustle me. Very unattractive.
I told the driver I was out of there, so then he took me to the Red Club. Similar in ambience to the first, maybe a bit nicer. She was hot so I played along.
We went into the room after she had her drink, then a quick CBJ and very mechanical FS. We were done in a half hour. She asked me for payment. I told her that I would pay her when the entire hour was up. She told me that she doesn't do second cups, and in fact I offered to tip her extra but she said she couldn't take it, so we just sat there. She sighed a lot and really tried to act bored. Due to a window opening up in my itienary I am returning to Tallinn for a combination of business and some long neglected R & R after far too long a time away - well eight months to be exact. I finally managed to sort out my fravourite type of accommodation, an apartment, after many e-mails and phone calls.

1) The page you referred to is simply an advertising service on behalf of girls and clubs. It would be interesting to note which of the adverts you responded to as I did not see any offering the service you mentioned.
2) 80 Euro is a lot of money for the service you were offered, almost any taxi driver will do the job for much, much less. The girls may well not have been laughing at you, just girls chatting together, often we tend to imagine the worst when we do not understand the language being used. They could have been laughing at you because they could see that the guy had dragged along another mug for their profit and pleasure. They would almost certainly know about your driver and his huge charges. In addition, if you took a girl, the club would also be passing him a commission of at least 24 Euro.
3) The US dollar has declined hugely over the last year or so. For Americans, Europe is no longer a cheap place. Have a chat with your glorious leader about that and start saving money rather than buying on credit. The prices you were charged for drinks were high, but not extortionate, in local terms, but for you, yes, they would seem expensive. In most cases, you can reckon on paying about 150 Kroons for a drink, bearing in mind that you are not buying a drink, but paying for the girl's time.
That prices seem higher for Americans can not be helped except by having special cheap prices for you guys (yeah like that would ever happen!) If you were simply visiting the place to have a fuck, I can't imagine why you would be wanting to buy girls drinks anyway.
4) A girl working in a brothel would almost certainly speak Russian, the place is almost certainly run by Russians, many of the girls would be Russian, a large number of the wealthier clients would be Russian. I live here and, frankly, it is pretty much impossible to tell a girl's origin by sight. There are tall blonde girls with a Russian heritage and short dumpy girls of Baltic extraction. Most girls in brothels are Russian in origin, but I know quite a few who are not and of course a girl born here and with an Estoninan passport might well not describe herself as Russian if she had Estonian citizenship and nationality.
There would have been no reason for her to lie to you about her heritage, but if she thought you were accusing her of lying, well, I am not surprised that service was less than stellar!.
5) When using http://www.sihteeriopisto.net it is worth trying to sort out the individual girls from the ads from clubs. Ask the advertiser and look out for several girls advertising with the same phone number. I would suggest that an individual girl will be a better bet than a girl in a brothel, for whom you are just guy number 3 from an expected six on her shift.
Sorry things did not work out so well for you. Red Club is certainly one of the nicer places in Tallinn, Mikado, I do not know of at all. Sadly, even commercial sex is, in the end, a personal matter and what works well for one person will not be good for another.
Tallinn has a lot to offer, but as always, when doing a new thing, that which seems easiest is not always the best.

apologies for the delay in posting this but work has been very busy since my return.
i was in tallinn last month for a short visit. it was a combination of work and r&r. due to changing work commitments this trip was on, off and on again, all in the space of 12 days. therefore i was unable to do my usual detailed preparation. i had experienced major stress and hassles in the 6 months prior to the trip, both personal and work related. on this particular trip the mongering was not an essential element or a high priority of the r&r, but needless to say would never be ignored.
i had managed to book an apartment and part of the deal was to be picked up from the airport. within 45 minutes of the plane landing i was in the apartment completing the paperwork. a quick shopping expedition ensured the apartment was supplied with the essentials. i also eventually obtained a local sim card for my phone after some searching.
i met up with dusty bin and a lady friend of his, l, for diner at argentina on parnu mnt. l suggested inviting one of her friends over to make a foursome, but i unfortunately declined, as i was meeting up with irina who’s number i had from a previous visit.

we carried on talking as best we could about this and that in between her regularly fending off approaches from men; mostly drunken finns, but also some italians and even a german. i discovered she was estonian as opposed to estonian with russian origin. she was divorced. she was or had been some sort of sports therapist. i was not getting any negative vibes or bad body language signs during our conversation - if you could call it that! it was at this stage i began to think i should try to see if i could do some ground work for a possible future assignation. to make any headway i decided i would have to adopt a different approach and strategy to what she was used to. i remembered her positive reaction to me giving her my stool, so i decided to act like a gentleman (albeit a gentleman who still wanted to fuck her). as some of the approaches being made to bw were quite aggressive in nature, i conveyed my distaste of the manner of them evident in my facial expressions, body language and some comments. bw took note of this. so far so good !

I spent quite a long time in Tallinn, and I have found that the p4p action here is not as quality as Moscow, St Pete or the other Baltics. This was not always the case. As recent as 2000 there were some astonishing Estonian girls that were available, but EU membership and increase in living standards has cut into the number of girls that NEED to work.

Some of the venues visited were Bonnie and Clydes, the Amigo, Scotland Yard, VS Tallinn, Nimega, Nimeeta, Amarillo, Asian Aroma. Two very pleasant afternoon periods were spent watching the girls in the Viru centre and outside the Irish Pub on Viru. VS Tallinn and Asian Aroma are 2 places I would recommend to eat. Both provide good food and good value for money.

Have seen it a thousand times. If Italians especially those not used to travel, jump over the Alps north, they think they are going to travel to really cold places and they take their sweaters all the time with them.

Radisson allows girls upstairs, but they have to leave documentation at reception. OR if they will not/can not, then a little money to security will do the trick. IMHO any girl that will not register should not be taken into one's room.

I have never had any problems taking girls to Reval Hotel Olympia or Reval Park Hotel&Casino. Both of these hotels are quite nice.
Frankly, I do not know if ANY hotel in Tallinn that is not in one manner or another 'girl friendly'. The hotel trade here DEPENDS upon the trade in flesh so the only difference between one place and another is the manner in which they maintain security and make the extra from extra heads on pillows.
I would bet the girls who did not go upstairs in the Radisson were girls who did not have ID with them, or chose not to show it. The hotel charges, IIRC, 300eek per extra pillow used, unless a double occupancy is booked, most places do this. The Reval Express does not , but insists upon registering girls. Here is a report on my recent visit to Tallinn Estonia. I've gotten most of this info from the web, but bring it together here in one place. It's the post I wish I could have found, but didn't, before going to Tallinn.
If someone wants to take this post and turn it into a more accurate FAQ by correcting what is wrong and keeping it up to date please do so!!
Initially I found information about Tallinn to be encouraging....
"Very inexpensive! Pretty Nordic and Russian looking girls! Don't even bother to go commercial because the local girls will gladly bed you with passion once you get a couple drinks in them!"
But then I found many of the details to be sketchy and/or wrong or out of date.
Ultimately I found a couple reliable places a little less expensive than the Amsterdam RLD but lower in quality and (obviously) number. Those are reported on below, along with a bunch of other useful info.
However please note...I was only there for 2 days!!!
I suspect that if one had time to check out the apartment places more fully some real bargain beauties could be found. As for the local non-working girls...they are indeed pretty and seem to like their drink...but I didn't see any indication that they are any "looser" than girls you might find at any random "first world" city bar.
*** Money ***
The Estonian Crown (EEK) is the currency, but I understand the Euro is on the way. I have no doubt this will result in higher prices. Here are today's (20.08.04) exchange rates -
1 US Dollar = 12.68645 Estonian Kroon

And some practical rules of thumb, rounded up, that are easier to remember and calculate with -

** Geography ***
For the purposes of commercial sex there are 3 areas. The City Center where all the tall downtown buildings and better hotels are, the Old Town which is the medieval walled city interestingly preserved, and the outlying areas...i.e. everywhere else.
If you are not afraid to use a map (the streets are *not* on a grid system at all) and can walk for 15 minutes several times a day you will be able to walk everywhere within the City Center and Old Town. You can also usually find cabs in the City Center and have them wait (for a reasonable fee) if you go far afield. There are also trams, but I didn't bother to figure them out.
I know of no prostitution in the Old Town, but there are some strip clubs which, from everything I've read, are not worth the effort or money. Don't bother, I am told, because they are both tame and expensive (relative to the local (somewhat poor) economy).
In the City Center there are 3 major types of commercial sex services. There are at least 2 well organized brothels masked as clubs. I report on the two I went to later in this report. The clubs often have a bar and a sauna...and perhaps bedrooms...with anywhere from a handful to a dozen or more girls working at a time. There are also apartment run businesses with 1 to 3 or more girls. Finally there are a couple or three legitimate nightclubs that working girls supposedly cruise for johns wanting to take them back to the hotel. If choosing randomly the best girls are supposedly cruising the clubs, then at the brothel clubs, and the least attractive girls in the apartments.
But there is supposedly large variation and overlap. The clubs and cruising girls tend to be more expensive than the apartment girls. For the former expect to pay a total of at least 1000 EEK and perhaps as much as 1500 EEK or more. These charges might include buying the girl a mandatory expensive drink, a cover charge, and so on. The apartment girls might be available for 400 to 700 EEK.
In the outlying areas there are both club brothels and apartment businesses, or so I've read. I've also read that a number of these have been closed in the last year. I stayed in the City Center.
To get to these places you have 3 choices. Get an address, look it up on a map, and walk there, OR get in a cab and give him the address OR ask to be brought to "a good place". If you do the latter note that the driver will no doubt bring you to the place that gives him the largest kickback, and oh by the way they will charge *you* for that kickback. So what would have been a 600 EEK session might turn into a 1200 EEK session. If you walk to a place and the price seems steep, remind them that you walked there and did not take a taxi.
The easiest way to find places on your own is to use a computer and a physical paper map. First locate the address via maporama.com and then mark it on the physical paper map. You can then get all your targets on a real map, and not carry around a bunch of little printouts.
Note that addresses are often given in a format something like "Lembitu 7/23". In America we would note this as "7 Lembitu st., Apt #23". Maporama will want you to search for "7 Lembitu". Addresses tend to be building numbers rather than abstract coordinates with small numbers closer to the City Center.
I myself just made a map and walked everywhere. Not a problem if the address isn't in an outlying area.

Tuukri 26 is on the edge of the City Center and quite walkable. It appears to be a hostel with a little bar/club on the front, but in reality it is a brothel. I arrived there in the early afternoon on a early weekday, so as expected it was a bit slow. I paid 50 EEK for entry and then 40 EEK for a coke and then sat on a couch in the bar. There were a number of couches as well as bar stools around the bar. There were 3 or 4 girls who appeared to be working although they never approached me or even really looked my way. Another fellow on another couch seemed as bored as everyone else. So far it was not a terribly exciting experience. The girls were late 20's I'd say, but quite average looking ethnic Russians. After about 15 minutes a tall thin girl with long blond hair quickly walked into the bar, spoke to one of the other girls for a moment, and then rushed back out again. I didn't get a very good look at her but concluded she might be the only other girl working and the best of the lot.

Undressed her body was indeed quite attractive with shapely B cup breasts with very pointy and responsive nipples. It seemed clear that everything was going to be covered, and her initial BJ was too fast and too short. I got her to slow down and take some time. You are charged less only, if you state your position when you arrive RC. When you pick girl, then it is too late. You have fixed your position.

This is not really dual pricing, the girls in the apartments are rarely anything that I would want to touch with yours, let alone mine. The better looking, brighter girls tend to have some education and that means they speak some English and charge a premium for their looks, language or both. There are some girls out there who have 'secretaries' who can deal inEnglish, Finnish etc, they answer the phone and do the negotiating, this person will not be the person you end up shagging. They are paid for their work, they do a good job as a couple of girls I know use the services of a third girl to do all their bookings. It allows them to get some sleep and the secretary gets 30 Euro for each booking that actually happens. The difference in price covers that cost.

I'm just wondering, I have visited 20+ places, where price is 400h/eek, and only twice I have seen leather jacket. Six weeks later, Mr. Shorter emerged with a vastly improved sense of the city's location (on the Baltic Sea) and a newfound appreciation of its "full-time party culture," as he described the local vibe in the fruit of his adventure: a slick, hardbound directory of decadent addresses called "A Hedonist's Guide to Tallinn."
The 2004 guide - which lists pubs with handcuff-carrying waitresses, nightclubs with scantily clad dancers, and stylish restaurants representing every corner of the globe - has become a minor bible for the rapidly growing ranks of "time-poor, cash-rich 30-something partiers" heading to Tallinn, as Mr. Shorter described his audience.
How did a city smaller than Fresno, Calif., (population about 400,000) in a former Soviet backwater explode into a hot spot whose "Hedonist Guide" companions include the likes of Madrid and Miami?
The dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and Estonia's integration into the European Union in 2004 have done much to open the nation of 1.4 million. So have budget-airline flights connecting Tallinn with Western European capitals.
But simple geography plays the main role. Just 50 miles across the Gulf of Finland from Helsinki, Tallinn gets a whopping injection of cash and conviviality from the more than half-million Finns who head across every year - frequently on multiple daily "booze cruises" - to exploit Tallinn's significantly cheaper alcohol.
Pockets filled with kroons (about 13 of them equal a dollar), motivated pleasure-seekers can smoke Cuban cigars at La Casa del Habano, watch rugby over a pint at Scotland Yard, sip cocktails in the Scandi-chic interiors of R.I.F.F., boogie at the huge Club Hollywood or elite Club Prive, watch women lose their clothes at the Soho strip club, and then lose their own shirts at Bally's Casino.
But Finns are increasingly quaffing alongside a new crowd: British bachelor-partyers. The sad thing is, I have only been going to Tallinn since 2003 and I have seen a huge difference. I probably just caught the tail end of what your friend was talking about.
The only thing that makes me feel better is that I was straight out of university and still relatively broke in 1993-1995 so I probably wouldn't have made it over even if I had heard of the Baltics, but that's small comfort!

I was in Tallinn during June 06 and attended a NGO congress there. I didn't found much time to monger around. But I got some impression about the scene on the saturday i when I had 'a day off'.
I left my group saturday afternoon and strayed through Tallinn's old town and had a couple of drinks in beer gardens.
Apparently there was no difference in comming into contact with local girls, than in any other westernized city in europe. So I wasn't attracted by going for a long-run work on girls and didn't spend much attention to them.
In the evening, after watching football in a pub (hard rock pub) I checked out some of the nearby bars and found a busy place crowded with young locals (russians and estonians).
There an older guy approached me while I was sitting at the bar. He started to gab and I was concentrated on half what he talked to me and half what was going on in the bar.
They guy invited me to his table and so I found myself sitting together with two old stagers of German origin. They both had some kind of flirt with the waitresses of this bar. And that was a reason to keep sitting there and watch what's going on.
I learned that these guys are frequent visitors there and that they pay the waitresses some drinks from time to time. That's their way to have a foot in the door and keep the waitresses tempered for a later occassion. But since there wasn't any form of body contact, I assume it doesn't happen on a frequent basis.
After two hours of strong drinking, I decided to go back to my hotel, which is located at Tallinn's main station (forgot the name).
For that I had to cross most of the old town and a bigger park, and the only one people I saw around where couples enjoying the mid-summer.
So no easy occassion to approach local girls, no pros in the old town or the park - frankly said it was boring for a mongerer, but luckily I had female contact with members of our group (LOL).
The best thing in Tallinn was definitely the mid-summer -great thing and worthwhile to go back in June once again (or to Helsinki..)!

I strongly agree with recent reports on Baltics being dead for mongering. No doubt girls there are most beautiful in the world but it is not easy to meet girls if you are there just for a few days and p4p is very limited. In part it is due to fact that total population of cities like Riga, Tallinn etc is very small in comparison to let's say Prague.

This week I´ve had five very good experiences here in private appartments. Price-range 25 - 42 euros - not bad!

In between 1999 to 2004, I visited Tallinn about 20 times purely for mongering purposes! I would divide this time in to three distinct phases.
In the first phase between 1999-2001, it was hard to miss! I would show up and pull a freebie from any number of clubs and bars! If you spoke English and had some money and were out in the oldtown section of town, you would have your choice of would be brides of the night! Life was very very good indeed! There were houses (brothels) and many working girls in all clubs and bars. But really there was no need to pay directly: I still remember spending a week in Tallinn and sleeping with a different girl every night; all freebies apart from cost of drinks and food and small presents here and there:) I am very much an average Joe in terms of looks and game.
In the second phase, between 2001-2003, it became more challenging! Girls started getting pickier! You had to have a game plan. You had to spend time on ICQ to setup dates and the girls had to be satisfied that you were going to be around in Tallinn long-term and that you had some real money in your pocket. Still having a foreign boyfriend who spent money and was fun to be with was considered a good catch for most girls. Although more challenging, Tallinn was still my favorite destination for mongering:)
In the third phase, post 2004, I was shocked to find that being an English speaking foreigner had become a distinct disadvantage in the oldtown of Tallinn!!The oldtown of Tallinn was full of single foreign men who drank much too much beer and chased anything female in the worst kind of way. Frankly, I dont enjoy being around such crowd and to add insult to injury, I could no longer pull any freebies from any club or bar.
