This could be a silly enquiry: but if you were aware of any for this. In the old time during cold war, it used to be that natural resoueces-related personnel are cautioned from state dpt as well as certain British contingencies that we should be aware that the surveillance of Russian intelligence is strict and 24 hours anywhare, particularly petrolium related-personnel. (although I am a useless salaried man, nothing important, nothing worth being survaillanced)

But is it still a possibility in Russia that certain contingencies are listing the incomming foreigner with multi-entry Visa, and trail its sexual traces, or is it already the things of past?

Considering the exhaustive personnel of Interiour ministry, (and I am also too old remembering cold war) I still hesitate going one step into Russian WG. Would anybody possibly advise how safe the WGs in SPb would be?

Overall, I think you should just read the last 2 dozen or so posts on the St.Pete board and check out the reports of distinction thread. Most of the info still applies.

Additionally, Russia is becoming more and more "Euro-ized" or "westernized". This doesn't mean that the Russian soul and character is fundamentally changing, but they are more and more exposed to the outside world and for better or worse, adapting to modern times.

It is unfortunate what happend to you - especially the part about being handcuffed.

Unfortunately, ripoffs of foreigners by police in St. Petersburg, and other major EE towns, is a regular event. Typically, they just claim there is something or other wrong with your documents, and hit you up for a bribe - $20 or so, nothing major, nothing violent. Much less often, force becomes a factor - I've lived in and out of EE for many months at a time, and never had force become an issue (though paid many a $20 'penalty').

Marstall, in particular, is know by police to be frequented by foreigners. There is almost always a cop located at the door, on busy nights - I figure he works with his buddies to hit up the foreigners (though I never had a problem at/near Marstall, I've heard many stories about it).

Just the same - don't let it get you too down. Overall, it really is as safe, or safer, in EE as in WE/US. The biggest danger is, in fact, the police! You have to avoid them like the plague! I literally cross the street if I see them on the sidewalk ahead of me...

A while back I posted on the BBK thread that I had been mugged in day-light
by a policeman. It happened as I was walking from Grace Hotel toward Sukhumvit Rd. There is a police booth at this intersection. The policeman waves at me to get closer, when I got to the door this SOB pulls me in and closes the door and starts going through my pockets mumbling something in Thai.This bastard could not get my money that I kept under my shirt in a pouch. Thought I would report some danger, since we all learn from this forum.

I was recently in SP, and went to Marstalls on a Friday evening since I had read about it in reviews and it was close to my hotel.

I got in around 11 and really liked the place. Good music, women dancing on the dancefloor and on the bar (strippers), and a good mix of working girls and others. Most of the working girls were ugly, but it was my first night out.

I left the place at 4 in the morning, and as I left I was approached by the police to show my documents. I had copies and that seemed to be OK. But my cash was gone. Luckily they did not take my watch or credit cards, but they did rip my leather jacket. My advisor called me a cab, really nice of him.

I travel around the world, and am typically careful, and have never encountered this.

For the remainder of my trip, I will stay in my hotel, and wait until I go back to Germany where people are civilized. Guess they will get my money.

I have read now that this is a problem in Russia (unfortunately it is a bit late). While I could accept a gang hit, it is hard to believe from police. As said in another forum, I guess they don't know about the internet.

Be safe out there, and not just from the women.

A couple of things about the militsia... 1st the ones outside of Marstalls are sometimes not even from SPB. Generally if they have a vehicle they are legit, but if they are walking up to you often they come into town from the outlying derevnyas to hit up tourists for cash. 2nd carry only the amount of cash that you want to lose. The rest stick in your shoe / underwear etc. I normally carry 500 Roubles in my passport coming out of the bar and for $15 the cops go away. Watch your mobile phone as well. If you are really concerned stop by the consulate and get a business card from the consular section. Lastly stay in well lit areas where there are people around and if you are truly concerned for your safety say "Ya Americanets, Ya naziviou consulstva" (I am American I am calling the consulate) take your consular business card and start dialing. I have had militisioneers just walk away to easier prey. Have fun, stay safe, and friends don't let friends go to Marstalls.

I was told a similar thing by a Russian girl (who happened to be a criminal defense attorney) - if stopped by the police, and harrased, just whip out your cell phone, and tell them you're calling the consulate. She suggested you don't really need to call them - just pretend. The police will get scared, and walk.

As for Marstalls - I've been there several times, never had a problem - but I speak Russian, and don't always stick out as a tourist.

As for Russia. It is too bad. I found the women beautiful, but was really put off by the experience in SP, and as a result even stayed in during my trip to Moscow. I was in St.Pete for 3 nights, staying in the Moika 22 Kempinski. I usually stay in apartments (they are more practical in some ways, less practical in others) but this time was in a hotel due to business reasons. Take-away is usually the same price, although I've sometimes been quoted 200-300 rubles more... which is ok since the taxi driver will take you and the girl to your hotel/apartment FOC and picks the chick up. No need to tip really.

I think it's very possible to still get freebies by the boat load. Try travelling to a smaller city (100,000-200,000) out somewhere east in European Russia or Western Siberia. I wouldn't bet the farm on it for Western hotels. Very hit or miss. I've seen lobby girls in the Grand Hotel Europe and the Kempinski Moika 22... in both cases the girls looked 30ish and average. Just as often I've passed the lobby bars and there was nobody there, or the lobby bar was closed after midnight. Hotels with large pro stock is soooo 1998. Times are changing. Not sure about Russian hotels, they may have better and more abundant selection. Most big Russian hotels have 1 bar in the complex which has pros. That said, Russian hotels suck in almost every other way.... especially location. Pribaltskaya and Pulkovskaya for example are nowhere near the center. Oktyabryskaya is... and had pros last time I was there in 2003.

One resonable Russian "Business" hotel is Hotel Moskva, but you have to take a better room in the choiche, price around 150 USD/night low season or more up to 250... high season there is "movements" at the bar (usually three/four, and in the lobby too, nothing exceptional but fuckab... No price idea), plus you have the metro at 3 meters from the entrance, and you are at the end of Nevsky Prospekt... Getting a girl to your room is not difficult, just register her and pay the fee.. usually 1 RUR, but she can't sleep so you have to bribe the security as usual... but you can buy a double occupation suite...

The Corinthia is a pretty good hotel and is next door to a Photmodelli parlor and across the street from Magrib. I don't know about "lobby girls", but when I returned to the hotel after 11 PM there were three women sitting patiently in chairs right next to the elevators--high side of 30's, very polite. Will be back in St-Pete in June-July. Would appreciate some hints on tochka approximate areas in St-Pete. I stay at a friend who has a car and we drove around a lot at night, but I have never been able to spot a tochka beacon anywhere.

Thanks Guido, I was just curious about the tochkas. For the salons, I have already visited many of them over the years.

However, in the last couple of years, prices in salons have almost double. Compared with last year, there is usually a 25% increase. So that's why I was hoping there is a cheaper alternative in St-Pete when I saw you mentioning tochkas, because that's one of my budget options when I'm in Moscow.

This may be something of a red herring but I saw something approaching a tochka in St Petersburg a few years ago. I can't remember the exact time but it was a few months before I discovered the photomodelli salons so probably 2003.
I took a taxi in search of girls and the driver took me off I know not where. He stopped outside a cafe/bar (this was about 1:00am) and 3 girls came running out across the pavement to the car window. Don't know in USD as I always pay in roubles. In addition, with the decrease of the USD in the recent years, the price increase should be even more significant.

Presently, the going rate is about 2000 to 2500 RUR an hour in the majority of salons I know, with a couple at 3000 RUR. It was about 1500 RUR a few years ago.

Since February 2007 when I last checked their price for my next visit, Amsterdam, Babochka, Elis, Tsum, Golden Lotus for example have increased the hourly rate of some of their salons from 2000 RUR to 2500 RUR.

I really think you should try the salons in addition to Magrib... they are by far the best thing in St.Pete and maybe even the best thing in all of Russia. As a testimony to this, when I am in Moscow for example I focus almost entirely on fucking freebies... in St.Pete I do most of my fucking with pros, mostly from the salons. Very high value in my opinion.

In terms of picklup bars, there isn't a Boarhouse/BF equivalent. As Guido said, Marstalls/Tribunal are lousy. Tribunal moved to the center by the way, but haven't seen any action there.

Magrib is still the best option in terms of pickup bars for pros... but can be frustrating. Often lots of eye candy to get you hot, but you'll soon discover that much of them are just locals out for some fun with their friends and most of the normal girls quite unapproachable... at least in terms of easy quick sex. Basically the only working girls these days are the ones sitting at the bar. There are actually two bars in the club (not the restaurant, NO action there!) ... the first bar is traditionally the ho bar. Still give it a shot though and be social. Normal price would be 100 rubles for a short trip, but gypsy taxis may not know where to go... so you are better off taking a real taxi and then remembering where the salon is. I prefer fotomodeli salons.

If that still doesn't work for you, I can give you the number of a dark-haired English-speaking pro that I met in Magrib a while back... she's only OK looking, but friendly, has a nice soft curvy body and speaks English very well. I’ve never been to Russia, but it’s high on my to-do list. I can get cheap plane tickets to Riga or Tallinn, and can travel by bus to SPB from there. So far, so good. Next was researching the P4P scene. I just finished reading the entire SPB section of the board...and I’m not exactly impressed.

Doctor Skank says the salons are by far the best thing in SPB and maybe even the best thing in all of Russia. Sounds great. But...

- The salons are very difficult to find, especially if you don’t speak a word of Russian.
- The girls generally don’t speak English.

And it gets worse...

- CBJs seem to be salon policy, although some punters report a 50/50 chance.
- DFK isn’t always on the menu either.

The Rus Dosug site, which is in English and offers extensive search possibilities, was a real eye opener.

- A basic search revealed 381 dyevs in SPB. Plenty of choice!
- How many of those allow pictures? 71/381 or 18,6%. For the record, I never fuck a girl without obtaining pictures first.
- How many provide BBBJ? 56/381 or 14,7%. I hate CBJs!

I have a choice of a week in St. Petersburg or a week in Rio in July next year (my work gigs fall on the same dates, so I cannot go to both places). I know it's a long time away, but in my line of work, I have to plan and lock-in these trips well in advance.

I've done my RTFF, and both cities would be great for the the hobby, but I cannot make my mind up. I'm leaning towards St. Pete, as it's a relatively short trip from Dubai (about 12 hours) Getting to Rio will be over 30 hours sleepless travel time (which just about killed me when I went to Costa Rica a few months ago - I spent the whole week shagging while jet-lagged).

On the other hand, I get the impression that in general, Rio girls are much more GFE than St. Pete girls.

I prefer picking up girls in bars/clubs for the night and having a bit of GFE. I rarely go for quick sessions in a salons/massage parlors/brothels.

So, any suggestions? St. Pete or Rio?

I am like you on that... There are supposedly pros in many other bars and clubs as well, but almost impossible to pick out from the other normal girls... at least I have NEVER met a pro in any other place, even though everybody claims they are there.

However, if you enjoy hot girls at affordable prices for a 2-hour session (in your hotel if you prefer) and can speak some very basic Russian to handle the negotiations, you can have a 7-9 for about $120/2 hours. This is a great option in my opinion and I get good GFE and pictures quite often... the only bad thing is that they leave after 2 hours. You can get the girls number and meet her privately if you wish... usually paying a little less than if you picked her up at the salon and in a more relaxed GFE fashion.

Another option is to meet girls on the internet dating sites (some speak English) and set up all night dates by chatting with them.... either for free or if you want to cut to the chase and avoid the dating game, you could negotiate to get a freelancer for $150-200/night or a pro for $200-250. If you only need 2 hours or so, it should cost about $100-150.

1. Fellow Dubai member Tercar points out in the Rio thread there will be direct Emirates flights to Sao Paulo starting October - excellent!

2. As Tercar rightly points out, there's an endless supply of 'Russkies' in Dubai (there are probably more CIS working girls in Dubai than in the CIS!). For about US$136 (full night) I regularly enjoy beautiful and very GFE girls from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and many of the 'stani republics. For CIS, it's a fun bar scene in Dubai - no salons. Play a bit of pool with the girls, have a few drinks and laughs, then take them home for the night.

3. I was surprised to read the bar scene is not too good in St. Pete.

4. Rio seems to have more of a party atmosphere in general.

It has been many years since I have been to Rio, but I certainly felt it was over-rated when I went there. Mind you, I was young and inexperienced then, but still the experience fell far short of expectations.

I see in the Rio forum that the HELP disco is still the main pick-up spot, as it was then. A real meat shop, but lots of eager young semi-pros looking to make a few bucks. Of course the girls are beautiful enough, but now I am hooked on the Slavic types.

The biggest downer for me was the constant strain of trying to avoid being ripped off - by the girls, by the taxi drivers, by kids on the street - it never ends. I found that very tiring, and sucked the joy out of my trip.

I was threatened by one girl in the morning because I wasn't offering her enough money (prices were not always agreed at time of pick-up, it was more informal than that, I guess to preserve the self-delusion that they were not prostitutes). I could not evaluate her threat, so I kept a chair against the door handle the next night, which cramped my style. I was assaulted another night by a knife-wielding idiot in circumstances that I should have been safe in. Girl-militia rip-off teams were common-place.

In May the beaches were cool and underpopulated. No "girls from Ipanmema"! St. Petersburg in mini-skirt season wil have more eye-candy. That said, you might be able to get more "white god" factor out of Rio, buying drinks and small treats for impoverished chicas. At that time, you could sit outside the Help disco and have a beer or two before going in. So many girls would hang out there, hoping to get picked up before having to pony up the entrance fee. One of the great regrets of my life was not pouncing on a table of these girls, who were scooped up by some weak-chinned Brit. For me this would have been a better evening than going inside to hunt in the noisy disco, and having to dance!!

I know you are not expecting to hunt for freebies, but at least in St. P you can pretend to play that game. But if you are used to paying $136 for an all-night, all-you-can-eat Slavonic buffet in Dubai it sounds like you would have a hard time beating that price in ST. P. At the same time, when I was in Rio, it was not particularly cheap, but I guess that depends on the proximity to the last economic collapse or currency re-valuation.

This is a tough one.

Rio only looks good in photos. There are condos along the beaches and every apartment owner has a dog that is walked on the beach so there is sh*t everywhere. The water is not safe for swimming because of ripp currents - people drown all the time. So the beaches are not a draw. The place is dirty, the poverty is more evident.

On the positive side, the people are fun loving and enjoy music. The pace is casual. The girls are more GFE. For $100-$150/night you can have a nicer hotel room in Rio. I think the easiest way to pick up a girl is to go to a bar.
They could be non-pro, semi-pro, or just fun-loving girls.

There is much, much more to do in St. Petersburg and the food is better. If you can pay ~$400/night , then you cannot beat the 3-4 top quality hotels in St. Peterburg. If you wear a business suit and have polished shoes, etc., it is easy to pick up a (non-pro) girl on the street in St. Peterburg. All you have to do is maintain eye contact and flirt a little. Find a pair and invite them for a glass of wine. They will decide after some socializing which one will stay the night. It is also easy to pick up a store clerk or hotel employee and the advantage is they would speak some English.

Unlike Rio, all the hotels have girls that work for them but they are expensive. They will knock on your door at night and the hotel bars are loaded with them. They will not cheat you because they know they will get in trouble if you complain to the security people (they actually work for the security people.) Every taxi cab driver - in fact everyone - is literate so you can always communicate with a note (in Russian). Cyrillic letters are no so hard but you have to do a little homework before going. The Metro (subway) is easy after one or two trips.

This is a real tough one. If it were me, I guess I would pick St. Petersburg but that is probably because I am a history buff. But I have had a lot of fun in Rio.

My experiences in St. Petersburg have been somewhat different than Firewalkwithme’s. I found the woman in St. Petersburg to be as good looking as the women in Moscow or Nizhni Novogorad, or Archangel.

Also, how can you beat St. Petersburg during White Nights for things to do.

There are standing jokes and stories about whether Russian or Ukrainian women are better looking. I have been with both and really do not know the answer. I personally prefer Ukrainian women because I think they are more feminine, if that is possible! But I have seen a lot of dogs in Ukraine also. I have also seen a lot of dogs in Rio.

ripoffs happen in rio, yes, just like anywhere else, but with a bit of experience and in-depth research, many can easily be avoided, whether in restaurants, cabs, on the beach, etc. i have traveled extensively in latin-america and i live in mexico, you know, and i wouldn’t say that rio is necessarily worse than anywhere else in that respect. these ripoff attempts and scams are also most common in the area around help, another reason not to be spending a whole lot of time there.

i was threatened by one girl in the morning because i wasn't offering her enough money (prices were not always agreed at time of pick-up, it was more informal than that, i guess to preserve the self-delusion that they were not prostitutes). i could not evaluate her threat, so i kept a chair against the door handle the next night, which cramped my style. i was assaulted another night by a knife-wielding idiot in circumstances that i should have been safe in. girl-militia rip-off teams were common-place.
always negotiate prices and services beforehand is a common advice we have given to anyone in rio. ripoff teams, like for threesomes, is problematic in rio, yes, and that’s why it is advisable to never take more than one to your apartment, ever. only to love motels, nowhere else. you can't take more than one into your companion-friendly hotel, anyway (the hotels know why).

as to the circumstances where you "should have been safe in", i guess the only thing that matters is that you weren't and didn't know. probably more than anyone, i have reported on security and crime matters in rio over the past three years, and there's an extension section on that matter in the bubba guide, too (which includes a lengthy post by, you guessed it, moi).

in may the beaches were cool and underpopulated. no "girls from ipanema"!
cool in may? compared to the 40+ c during carnaval months maybe, but cool? but why there are always girls on the beach, i have to agree with you, not as many as one would expect based on postcards and stuff.

that said, you might be able to get more "white god" factor out of rio, buying drinks and small treats for impoverished chicas. at that time, you could sit outside the help disco and have a beer or two before going in. so many girls would hang out there, hoping to get picked up before having to pony up the entrance fee. one of the great regrets of my life was not pouncing on a table of these girls, who were scooped up by some weak-chinned brit.
to tell you the truth, in copacabana, you need zero game for the girls, zero. imho, nobody is impressed by anyone being white, they see so many tourists all the time, anyway. and the girls hanging out in or in front of help or in other bars along the same lines (meia pataca, balcony) are anything less than impoverished, but simply hardcore hookers preying on newbie tourists.

the place in front of help is now called veranda help and still exists. there are still hundreds of girls there trying to pick up clients, and yes, some are still hoping to get taken inside, too, possibly. about your regrets of not hanging with some girls there, well, what can i say… what was the problem with just going over there or getting them over to your table? they are all hookers, anyway. no decent carioca woman would want to be seen within 100 yards of that whole area.

for me this would have been a better evening than going inside to hunt in the noisy disco, and having to dance!!
hunt? help is a self-service candy store, you just pick who you want. you certainly don’t have to dance to pick someone. i sure never did, and not only because the first time i went, i was on crutches (which, btw, did not prevent me from getting laid, so again, zero game required. the only game you need is cash).

i know you are not expecting to hunt for freebies, but at least in st. p you can pretend to play that game. but if you are used to paying $136 for an all-night, all-you-can-eat slavonic buffet in dubai it sounds like you would have a hard time beating that price in st. p. at the same time, when i was in rio, it was not particularly cheap, but i guess that depends on the proximity to the last economic collapse or currency re-valuation.
rio is no longer as cheap as it used to be, mostly because of the tanking dollar. but then again, when the r$ was at parity with the usd, it was even more expensive, so things aren’t all that bad, while certainly not as good as in 2004 or 2005.

rio only looks good in photos. there are condos along the beaches and every apartment owner has a dog that is walked on the beach so there is sh*t everywhere. the water is not safe for swimming because of ripp currents - people drown all the time. so the beaches are not a draw. the place is dirty, the poverty is more evident.
the areas where tourists are likely to stay, i.e. copacabana and ipanema, look just like in the pictures to me. as to the water is not safe for swimming, true, and nobody should go to rio for taking dips in the water, but honestly, that's pretty common knowledge, every tour book says that. as to the statement that this wouldn't make the beach a draw, ufffffffffffffffffffffffffffff. i just posted a long report about the cultural significance of the beach in brazil and rio in particular in the rio section. if rio's beach life is not a draw for someone, honestly, don't go. seriously.

is there poverty in rio? yes, appallingly so… in areas where you should never tread. as to general cleanliness, well, it’s a tropical country, what more can i say.

i think the easiest way to pick up a girl is to go to a bar.
they could be non-pro, semi-pro, or just fun-loving girls.

i just posted a report in the rio section listing some of the more common entertainment options and activities that are available in rio, and even though i haven’t been to spb, i seriously doubt that it could compete with rio's variety (or that many cities actually could, for that matter). food is obviously a matter of taste, but have you ever been to a rodizio in rio? an all-you-can eat restaurant where they offer you about 20 types of meat, a huge salad bar, sushi bar, chinese food, cheeses, deserts, you name it?

let me say a few words about el austriaco's comments. i do not want to seem too negative since i have always had a lot of fun in rio and for me it is somewhat of a toss up between the two cities.

One point regarding St.Pete in July:

They only go there if they have to. If you go to the top clubs (there are several good clubs now) that cater to the upwardly mobile, you'll find plenty of babes.

I didn't really mean white. I just meant being a "Big Man in the Bar." Buying drinks and flirting with the ladies as you make your choice. One of the endearing things when I was there, was that these girls wanted to show off to their friends that they had bagged a man for the night. So there was a little bit of buying drinks and cigarettes for the other girls. Harmless fun and maybe a good investment if you are trying to create a GFE, but a waste of time and money if you are with a hardcore pro.

I didn't really mean to crap all over Rio, but it had always been a fantasy of mine, and the actual experience was somewhat disappointing. Whereas Russia and Ukraine have exceeded my expectations and I hold out hopes for even better experiences as I learn the game.

How unexpected can life be? While I was posting a few months ago in the Moscow forum that I was going to Moscow, I ended up in Saint-Petersburg for three days (and two nights). So what to do? Internet connection is still old fashioned modem-style (at least at my place) so I was glad I did most preparation before I left, i.e. which sites are worth to visit so I can make optimal use of my limited bandwidth.
According to some posts SPB seems to have an active salon scene though it can be very hard to find the salons at all. So once in SPB I decided to concentrate on salons and indivudualkas (girls who work for themselves). It was not possible to get in touch with normal girls in that short time. Here are my two cents…

Preparation

I first tried to get in touch with some normal girls on www.flirt.ru (aka www.love.mail.ru and many other names…). But it also lists working girls. You can recognize them by a purple line around their photos. However for p4p this site is a drag. It uses lots of old photos from omen.ru, many from other (porn) sites with their watermarks still present, many scanned from magazines, and some even with the playboy logo still on it. Lots of references to non-existing sites, lots of references to traffic measuring sites. Some photos contained a shooting date of decades back, even some back to the 70’s with their orange-and-brown decoration. About 90% fake, I estimate. It is salted with megatons of spam pictures that lead to web sites telling Russian men how to give females an orgasm or how to run an Internet casino.
About the normal girls, I wrote about 50 (in one night) but got no response, so either their English is zero or no-one is interested (anymore) in meeting a foreigner with some cash to spend.

And with 66,000+ entries in SPB, this site rotated quicker than I could browse forward.

Total waste of time.

Lodging

To avoid problems with bringing girls I rented a medium sized apartment at Italyanskaya, close to Nevski Prospekt. It had a quiet and cosy backyard location which made it perfect for my needs.

In SPB

While in Saint-Petersburg I used www.kica.ru. This seems to be a more upscale site with some real beauties on it. It is more expensive too. Prices start at 3000 rubles per hour and some even 4000 or 5000 for one hour. I tried Maya (http://www.kica.ru/categories.php?cat_id=102). She looks as on the photos, but more important: she spoke perfect English so communication wasn’t a problem. She came to my place. Her service was standard (CBJ, few positions, no anal). She cost 6000 rubles for two hours. Nice, though a little expensive, and no GFE.

The second site I tried was www.kisski.ru. This site seems to have a “fair chance” policy for all girls because every time you press the “back” button of your browser to Kisski’s main page, the sequence of the girls is different, as well as their photos. This becomes a real nightmare when you browse back because you remembered a girl. Her main photo and location on the web page is different then. This site lists 30-40 girls and has no search capabilities nor does it list the services the girls provide. Prices start at 2000 – 3000 rubles per hour. Here I tried Sofia (http://www.kisski.ru/categories.php?cat_id=148). In reality she looked a little more overweighed and was certainly older than the 20 years she claimed. I guess these girls take pictures when they are still young and beautiful and use them for the remainder of their professional career. Her service was slightly better than Maya but still a little too professional according to my taste.

I also tried to find one or two salons but none of the operators I got on the phone spoke decent English. They tried to explain me the directions but it ended in a disaster while I was standing on Nevski trying to figure out what they were telling me while the traffic noise of cars racing up and down the Neveski prospekt reached sound levels that went way beyond the sound level that could be produced by my old Nokia. On a certain moment I understood that I was on the wrong side of Nevski, however crossing the street is equivalent to suicide and the nearest underground pedestrian crossing was at least 500 meters away. I had to make a 1 km walk for just 50 meters of street crossing. I just gave up. Maybe next time…

Concluding

Unfortunately I had too little time to prepare my visit. I was told to go to SPB earlier than expected, arranged a business visa for me within 48 hours and was literally thrown into the plane to have discussions with some weird guy who stank, obviously wasn’t sober and kept complaining using the only English sentence he knew: “too little money”. Exploring SPB on you own when you hardly speak any Russian is a real challenge (I only can say a few sentences like “kak dela?” and use machine translation for email and chat.). However I still think that Piter can be a good place to get laid when I had more time to prepare and more time to be there. It isn’t the quality, it’s all about finding your way in Russia at all.

No doubt the salons can be a bittch to find.

This is where cab drivers come in handy. Hop into one and say “Hichu Devushka” and they will take you to one of the many salons you were close to. They get a cut from the salon of what you spend.

Price wise you managed to find the most expensive in town. 6000 rubles for 2 hours is too much. I think the two sites you listed may have been linked, noticed a couple of the same girls advertised on both.

Other option get the two magazines Gandjim posted links for then call and have the girls come to you. Expect to have to make a few calls before you find passable English or call back later and you may have better results. You should be able to get 2 hours for 3,000-4000 rubles. Tell them what you prefer; frequently they will send a couple of girls and you can choose.

Not sure your math is right, 99 USD per hour is about 2500 RUB (against 2000 RUB from intimspb direct). Maybe they just anticipate the continuing decline of the USD? ;)

i have been visiting the st-pete’s salons for some years, and have been back there again last month. this time, i visited over 30 salons (not having a session in each though). the quality of girls has decreased compared with the previous years, so i sometimes had to hit 3-4 salons before finding a girl to my liking.

1. the salon scene

salons are brothels run in apartments in residential buildings. nothing differentiates them from other apartments (not even a name on a doorbell) so it’s a little bit complicated to find them.

usually you need to speak russian to call them to get their street address. sometimes they’ll find somebody who can speak english if you don’t, but most of the time they will just hang up on you. a few salons have a special number where english speaking staff answer the phone (domino and sharm).

be aware that a building can have several entries, and sometimes they give you the address of the building next to theirs, or of the one on the other side of the street. once you arrive, you need to call them again to get the code for entering the building, the floor and apartment number. i usually ask them to come down and get me. so don’t send your taxi away when you arrive as you may not find the salon, and have a mobile phone with you (there are public phones in the street in case you don’t, but don’t forget to take the phone number with you).

be aware that location of salons and phone numbers can change randomly, so check by phone before walking back to a salon you visited last year.

depending on the salon, you can have a line-up of 2-3 to more than 10 girls. a session of one hour is about 2500-3000 rubles nowadays. price are sometimes quoted also in usd or euros, but they are more expensive than in rubles. always pay in rubles. you can also take the girl back to your apartment.

2. where to stay

you will need to walk a lot if you intend to raid the salons. i always rent an apartment where there are many salons around in walking distance. to choose the location of the apartment, you can check where the salons are on a map (especially if you’re interested in a particular salon), like here (http://www.isaw-db.com/map_spb.html).

Last week I was in Maximus (strip clup) near Nevsky.

No doubt the Russian Devs are top of my list as well, we are in agreement there.

Prices have risen so fast in Moscow and somewhat in Piter. I hate to see anyone encourage the trend. I have yet to meet a monger in favor of paying the higher prices.

As to value what you got may be a very good value compared to your options at home. In my home area prime pie runs $500-2000 an hour, that’s a crime.

But imagine the value at 1/3 to 1/2 the price you paid in Russia for the same Russian experience. I have done sessions from $47-75 an hour with gorgeous 18-20 year olds, that’s good value.

The cool thing about Russia is the wide range of options and gorgeous sexual women. Perhaps on your next trip you can schedule in more time to explore.

Basically, the militia can stop you for passport control (more specifically for visa registration), just to get a bribe, and it doesn't matter yours is in order or not. If you don't speak Russian, you can't argue with them anyway and they will threaten you to take you to the police station, so you better pay. You can even use the same login and password interchangeably.

The majority of the girls online are regular girls, and of these I was able to fix up a few dates, one of which led to a freebie. A lot more work has to be put in with the regulars of course, and I found it paid to start communicating with them in advance of a trip. Regular girls will usually look like the photo they post.

About a tenth of the women are P4P, (maybe even a quarter in the 18. 24 age range). The openly working girls offering 'intim za dengi' are usually identified by a pink border on their photograph. You'll also notice that working girls will not post prices in their profiles.

However, there are no such restictions when posting messages to each other, so a girl can quite easily tell you her telephone number when you chat with her. Essentially, on these sites you simply chat with the girl using a process that will be familiar if you've ever used instant messenger applications like MSN or ICQ.

You don't have the problem of making a 'cold' phone call, which will be virtually impossible anyway if you are unable to speak Russian, and she turns out to know little English. (The advantage of using these sites is that most of the details such as prices, times, addresses, etc, can be communicated in writing, with the phone call often being just a matter of you saying you've arrived at hers, or she at yours).

If the girl is online, then you can communicate in real time. (Look for orange script which transliterates as "Seichas na saite! " meaning "Now on the site"). Go to the girl's page. Using information provided by Spangle, I called Photomodelli at Fontanka 109 and asked for "English" speaking girl. I asked for hourly rate and was told 2000 roubles - okay sounds good. One thing I forgot to mention about using a taxi to find a salon is the cab driver frequently gets a percentage from the salon. If he got you inside the building, that is what happened. I would say that the Domino "option" worked the best for me. One time they sent me a non-English speaker and it worked out quite fine.
