I've just been reading Robert Hughes' Barcelona and came across the following passage:

Well the plan was straight forward enough, have a few drinks then head to Club Riviera, I drank in Port Olympic (beware of the pick pockets) it started to rain so I jumped in a cab and asked for Club Riviera. The taxi driver said Club Diamonds was closer and better, the drink took over and I said ok, the first mistake. Here's a google earth map link that I found really useful when I was trying to find out how to walk from the Castelldefels train station to Riviera Club. Hold and drage to move throughout the map. You can find also find written directions from old posts in the forum - just do a search.

If this map doesn't help, then worse comes to worse, you can just ask any of the locals that are walking around town. I was stuck at the train station about 2 years ago on a sunday night, and managed to eventually find the riviera by simply asking any friendly male local, "Donde esta Riviera Club". They all knew it and pointed me in the right direction.
It seems weird that there weren't any available cabs waiting in front of the Riviera. I never went on a friday, but on a tuesday, thursday, and sunday. There were always a cab available.

i had good luck staying at the hotel barbara barcelona. it is right in the red light district and was cheap. i could walk a few blocks east to sightsee in the gothic quarter and the metro (subway) was close. also, this area goes 24/7 with the ramblas a few blocks away. i was very close to the bagdad sex club which is good though quite expensive. also an easy walk was the peep show on the lower ramblas where the live peeps were very reasonable. i think you could pick up a provider there but i don't know the prices. this is also probably the best spot for picking up a streetwalker although not all of them are that great.

There are many great bars and clubs in BCN where you can have some great non-pro fun for new years eve.... along Paseo Maritimo de la Barceloneta (or Pg Maritim on Catalan maps) there are about 3 or 4 clubs / lounge bars all next to each other. The road runs along the Barceloneta beach and the road is elevated, so you walk down stairs to get into the clubs below and I think pretty much all of them have restaurants that overlook the beach, which is great in the summer.

In Spain, Pay Per Sex is not regulated by Law, hence it is neither legal nor illegal. In practice, it is permitted.
Sometimes, fortunately not very often, there are Police Raids in night clubs. They pursue illegal inmigrants among the girls. Pickpockets are very rare in Spanish Clubs, I have mentioned it because I think it is better to be warned just in case, mainly if you get drunk.
In Spanish Clubs usually there aren't lockers. The procedures are exactly the same as in a disco. Sometimes you are required to pay a fee, which includes your first drink (15, 17 or 20 euros, aprox.). You go to the bar and order your drink. Girls will approach you, normally the first girls are the worst. Take your time watching the scene, and fix your target/s. If you invite the girl to a drink, it will cost you about 30 euros minimum, there is no need to invite the girl. Top Damas is a private apartment, but it is open during day time and night. There is no bar area. You choose a girl from an introduction line-up.
Club Riviera is a macro club, much cheaper than "Pub 240", with much more girls. It is impossible to compare these two clubs, no one is better than the other, it depends on what you are looking for. Club Riviera is popular, "Pub 240" is rather classy.
I don't know any high standing club (prices around 300 euros per hour) in Barcelona. In terms of prices, "Pub 240" is the highest in my short list of known places of Barcelona, and I don't know if its prices are worth. In fact, sometimes I used to go to "Pub 240" only to have a drink and talk to some girls, but after a while I went to Top Damas (it is 10 min. walking) to spend an hour with a girl for almost half price.
In clubs without rooms you have to take the girl to your hotel or to a nearby apartment or hotel which girls use to go. You will have to pay the room fee.

In general, Barcelona is a safe city, even at night. Don't worry about security in the clubs neither inside nor outside. Touristic zones of Barcelona and other big cities of Spain are dangerous because of pick-pockets and bags stealing, but these are a few specific places. For example, Ramblas, Portal del Angel, Catalunya Square (Plaza de Catalunya), and Cathedral in Barcelona; and Puerta del Sol, Preciados street and Gran Via in Madrid.

Apparently according to a spanish board, the chinese houses in BCN are having some issues in supply. It seems the bad economy has had another side effect. The police are stepping up efforts to stop human trafficing of girls from other countries to Barcelona. I was in Barcelona a few sundays back and drove from France stopping off in Figueres (please see Costa Brava thread). Visited Riviera a few times over new year and decided to try Saratoga one night for a change. Its about 500 yards further south on the otherside of the road. Large clubs where you can sit around like in a fkk don't really exist in Barcelona itself (I guess, when you say 'in Barcelona', you mean downtown and you don't have a car). Most big clubs are out-of-town like for Oase and World near Frankfurt. No big in-town clubs like Artemis or Palace.
In addition, if you're looking for a comfortable lounge, you're out of luck. Near Barcelona, large clubs have more girls than in fkks, but less furnitures. In Riv' for example, where you have 100+ girls and same number of customers, there are less than 10 stools. Most clubs have kilometers of bars, but no lounge. Of course, no swimming pool, no sauna, no hammam, etc... Hey, but you don't have to pay 50 euros to enter and have a look at the talents available.

In a few weeks I'll partake in my first trip to BCN. I am in fact travelling with my 18 year old son. Alas this is not a mongering trip but instead some sightseeing and partying with the young lad. Usual confusion when people are checking out addresses in Barcelona, the street signs are written in Catalan, the official language which is different (although fairly similar) to Spanish. Barcelona is a great city for strolling around, when you look at the down town area account on just under 5 mins walk per block if you want to plan your escapades. Taxis are abundant and pretty cheap.

For the 'regular' club scene there are hundreds of places, if he's after english speaking easy pickings he could head for 'port olympic' where plenty of tourists and hen nights end up. If he's wanting to try some of the local dishes safest best is the diagonal/aribau area where theres a few dozen places within a few blocks.

In a few weeks I'll partake in my first trip to BCN. I am in fact travelling with my 18 year old son. Alas this is not a mongering trip but instead some sightseeing and partying with the young lad. I will be in Barcelona for a weekend next month. I planned to go to Germany for FKK but cannot make it. With the closing of Riviera, it seems that similar options to FKK are no longer available in Barcelona. And, the prices are 2X or more per 1/2 hour than FKK in Germany. The cheapest seems to be Top Damas at 90 Euro but I like to have a larger selection, if possible.
I visited some clubs on National Roads while driving through Spain where there were 30-40 girls available at 50-60 Euro per 1/2 hour. One of these was near Zaragosa where there was a wide selection of girls from Eastern Europe, South America and Africa.
Are there any such clubs on the outskirts of Barcelona? I will have a car so can get around.
I usually stay on Ramblas. I have tried the 20+10 Euro SWs in and around this area several times but the quality and service has never been very good. OAHYou are soooo lucky dude, you're the only guy whose taken an west African SW to his hotel and didn't end up in a police station reporting some type of theft.
The bottom half of the Ramblas after midnight is full of exclusivley black West African SW's and they make more money robbing the wallets of drunken tourists than they do giving any service.

The bars and cafes in the morning are full of guys, usually from stag weekends or just tourists saying how they were robbed the night before. AVOID IT!
Re the out of town locations, if you drive out of Barcelona some 10-20km in any direction which isn't a main 'autopista' youll start to see converted hotels with big neon signs. Also around the industrial parks (but still on the main roads) youll see women standing or sitting at the side of the road waiting to get picked up.
I've noticed a lot of both the SWs and the hotels in the stretch between Barcelona and Granollers/Valls going north towards Vic, however I was in the wrong company at the time so I couldn't even write locations down, let alone get a GPS fix.
