I am in Geneva for a week. Any suggestions for a newbie looking for a good time? (I am willing to post my findings.)

Try getting one of the local papers from the boxes in the street and calling up some of the ads in the back. I saw lots of ads when I was in Geneva but didnt get a chance to try any.
I've also heard there are some street walkers in the area behind the train station but I didnt really have time to look.

Have a look in the newspapers like Tribune de Geneve or if you are prepared to look slightly outside Geneva, Le Matin. Their websites offer access to newspaper advertisements.

If you look for SW in Geneva, it takes place around the "rue de Berne" not far from the main railway station. Girls there are from 4 to 8. just got back from europe. if i were writing a book about my experiences, i would title it "geneva is a shit hole". at least 95% of it anyway. i don't want to discredit the very few positive people in that town, but for the most part that place sucked. i couldn't wait to get out and i am definately never going back. the pollution in that town is the worste.

I am from Geneva and I agree Geneva is not an easy place to have an easy sex. The following is a summary of my visits to Geneva over the past months. Much of what I offer has been said or alluded to, but this offers a synthesis of my experiences there.
Evening one, Asian woman: While staying in a hotel on the Rue de Bern (near the train station) I took an afternoon stroll and noticed a proliferation of porn shops. The way I got the best value action is in the clubs, and I was hoping for some more information. Club Aigle had the best selection of girls the time I visited, but there were very few stage shows and only ever topless. Crazy Horse I have not managed to visit yet.
Another club I visited was called something like Club Monthoux, well it was certainly on Rue de Monthoux, although the Cabaret sign gives it away. The floor show here was better, with about half of the girls going all the way naked, and there was quite a brisk turnaround of girls on stage.
A brand new club opened on 1st October, it is on Rue de Fribourg and simply called Nightclub Cabaret by the looks of the outside.
It looks very small from the outside and easily missed during the day before the neon lights come on. I liked this club even though there was little in the way of cabaret again - topless, and one girl simply did a belly dance, not even going toples. Anyway it was very late when we visited here (about 3.30), and as usual the girls were soon trying to get me to buy them a drink. My friend and I resisted, but we did stay chatting to some of the girls quite a lot explaining we were only there to watch the show.
The prices in all these clubs are indentical - chF18 for your drink, a small bottle of beer, or maybe chF16 if you like a cheaper brand. It's chF30 for a girl's drink, so money soon slips through your hands - I saw one young British lad looking horrified when he saw his "tab" after only an hour or so in one club! Buying champagne seems obligatory to get a private time with the girl, but from the talks I got into, purely in the name of research, the cheapest price seemed to be chF400 for a private time in a booth, or possibly her apartment upstairs. However, I imagine this would result in nothing more than a quick fumble and a bottle of champagne with no real sexual contact, I believe that would be extra again.
I digress, I did get value! One girl in the club on Fribourg had a splendid body and I got on well with. To preserve her from action by the club I cannot give further details of her name/nationality or appearance. I explained again I was only watching, but that I'd gladly buy her lunch the next day as I wasn't into giving vast sums to the establishment of which she gained minimal benefit. She agreed to meet me when the club closed (5am) a short walk away from the club, and come back to my hotel for a drink. I imagined this was never going to happen, but she did show up. I genuinely was not sure if this was a date or business proposal!!
Only when in my room did she mention "a present". I guarantee I did not pay more than chF330 and got about 90 minutes of bedroom action. It all started very well, lots of hugging and sexy kissing, undressing and sexual caressing. I also wanted to impart a little advice, since I haven't seen it mentioned here.
In the Cabarets all over Switzerland you have to be careful, since the girls are "employed" to sell champagne, and they have to sell as much as possible. As a result when you take a bottle with a girl you have to be sober (or as sober as you can be) since she will try and dump as much of the champagne on the floor or flower pot.
Each bottle 75cl provides on average 6 glasses, I bet most girls drink maybe 2 or 3 per bottle, the rest gets accidentally spilled, or poured simply on the floor when you are watching a show, or poured on the floor when she kisses you (a Russian favourite).
I found this out to my cost in the summer a year ago, when I had taken my shoes off, and had bare feet under the table. They got washed with champagne! I kicked up a storm, but there is really not much you can do about it.
Since then I have spent many delerious hours in cabarets watching how the girls fleece the guests, and doing my research.

Ok heres an update to my previous posting.
I have decided the Cabarets in Geneva are not the best place to get laid!
I followed my own advice, and trawled through about 4 cabarets. In one I was getting on very well with a young bulgarian blonde, she kept wanting to stick her tongue down my mouth for some reason. Regarding cabaret in Geneva, I would recommend Le Must and Bagheera since they are a little off the beaten track, behind Hotel President Wilson and near the Hotel Epsom. I'va always had fun there.
Also up in the old town there are one or two which don't get frequented much and as such you have a better time to be treated well, than in the bigger well advertised places. I know locals go there, so it can't be bad (sorry I forget the exact names of most but Ba-Ta-Clan is one).
I would however caution that all are designed to get you pay for champagne first and foremost, so the pressure will be on to spend CHF 250-400 +.
A beer in these places can cost CHF25, so its not a cheap night out!
You will get your leg rubbed by beautiful women though! And if you do have the cash to spend time talking to them there are freebies to be had. See previous posts of mine in Geneva and Zurich section.
I don't know of any saunas, however there are multiple websites like www.eroticplanet.ch which offer listings of cabarets and salons under their nightlife listings for each major Swiss Kanton.

The word "hot" of course being defined differently by each individual man. I don't mind drinking beer or whisky whilst watching a model quality Blonde undress, but that might not be your idea of heaven.
The "steet scene" in Geneva (as far as I can tell) is made up from a "majority" of Black and North African Girls. Try the red light district after 10pm through till about 2pm. You will get the offers.
The cabarets almost exclusively cater to the European male, with Russian, Ukranian, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Czech girls, in the majority, and only then will come a smattering of Caribbean girls, mostly from Santa Domingo. You will also get the odd Moroccan and Nth African girl, and finally Asian and these are mainly also in the red light district.
Geneva has the largest Black population of any Swiss city, and there are bars and discos etc for sure that cater to the "Afro taste", but I don't know of any "exclusive" strip joints for Black African girls, sorry, but that does not mean there aren't any.
If you want "up market", look at the pictures outside the cabarets, they will give you an indication of the girls working in there, almost all are genuine photos. There are some that are mainly Black, or specialise in Black, and again I would suggest they are mainly in the red light district.

The street scene in Geneva has definitely gone down hill. Wandering around drunk at night I saw about 10 different girls, none of whom could have been less than 40 years old, and with terrible lined faces and overweight bodies! Not my scene at all, and actually quite off-putting.

There also appears to be a new(ish) lap dance place called l'Aigle de ....(I forget).... which is next to the Confederation center near Brasserie Lipps... Rue de Rotisserie.
I walked past it during the day and they were advertising outside with the standard "Strip-club fake Dollar bills" and pictures of the girls (which were ok).

I have to agree Switz seemed to be a rip off....at first. However, the sex I have had in Geneva has been among the best anywhere, certainly better than Germany where P4P is often cold in my experience. Particularly special in Switz were my last two conquests, one of which remains private, but was P4P before you question.
Also, getting 2-3 hours for 300 ChF, which is about $230 or GBP130, with top class girls, is surely not a rip off. There must be 150 girls working the various cabarets in Geneva, and 90% are under 25, many top class hot Eastern Europeans.
I agree the street scene, and the champagne bars are woeful. Street scene is flat 100ChF for 20 mins max, and as Swiss T wrote, frankly full of old hags. The champagne bars are to my experience also overly populated by older, or less attractive, woman. Also here it tends to be much harder to fix deals with the girls because they're watched like hawks.
My advice for a good, well priced time is:
1) Sleep well before venturing out about 2am. If you time it right and check the showtimes you can catch two or even three "spectacles"/floorshows before the clubs shut.
2) When you enter 1st cabaret have a quick look at the quality of girls - if poor leave immediately. There's no obligation to stay and too much competition to stay at a bad bar.
3) Buy just one beer (between ChF16 and ChF22) - pricey enough. All the girls will one by one come over to you and get round to asking for a drink. When you see a girl you want explain you were only here for the strip show. Gently mention you may like company when the club shuts. Some girls flatly refuse, others quoted me 1000 at first, but on last visit the opening offer tended to be 500. The difficult bit for me is bargaining - you may offend irretrievably by starting at 100, but the lowest so far I know of is my own 200. When quoted I just now say "I have nowhere near 500!" Make a note of her price and get her phone number, which must be done discreetly, as you're cutting the club out of the equation. Say you'll call, or SMS, the girl at 5.05
4) Go to next cabaret and repeat the drill. Now you'll know the price and quality of girl you have on standby!
Beware - I left my cellphone on last time and it started ringing like crazy at 0520 just as I was on the job! I forgot I'd given my number to a couple of girls! Usually I put it on silent, and also if I miss calls I SMS back sometimes next day to say sorry I fell asleep and quite often I've had a good response and offer to meet again!
Finally, I must add I do tend to buy the best looking girls I'm negotiating with a cocktail (c.ChF50). It's my little reward for the club on having the best girl(s).

So for ChF1380, or just over $1000, or £600, you can have 4 different top quality girls for at least 90 minutes each on successive days (some may visit before cabaret starts at 9pm) - which is better than anywhere in the US, and beats virtually all western capital cities I've visited. In London you'd struggle for 3 x one hour sessions.
By the way, on my last visit I 'discovered' Le Petit Palace, which has a mixed floorshow. Fully nude female (found at last), then male stripper, then they both return together. It certainly pulls in the punters, very mixed male-female crowd, good atmosphere and packed on a Tuesday when I went. Definitely recommend if there's two or more of you, otherwise you may feel a little, err...lonely!
Finally Ba-Ta-Clan is I think the club where almost all the girls claim they're watched and have their flat entrances monitored by CCTV which club owner installed. I struck lucky once, but on recet visit a gorgeous Ukrainian took a lot of persuading to come down to 400, wouldn't come to my hotel, and then told me I'd have to buy champagne for her to be allowed by club! As a small addition I suspect that the number of working girls in cabarets is actually much larger.... I know that Zurich offers out 700 "dancing visas"....so at any one time there are 700 (plus illegals) dancing in cabarets in the Kanton of Zurich. Thats a hell of a lot, especially considering they rotate monthly and leave every 6 months.

CBGB, Yes I have been to FKK. Twice, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt. A couple of years ago now, admittedly, but I understand they have got worse recently.
I see the merits of FKK, undoubtedly, but to be honest I think Spanish nightclubs are definitely better. And I have been to many throughout Spain. In fact much, much better. I do not know of any FKK in Switz, but I've only been to Zurich couple of times. Swiss Tiger is more of an expert on that region I believe, but that's for another board anyway!

I'm certainly no expert, but there is some good advice from numerous people on the Zurich board.

Sadly Switzerland is a country of double standards.

Geneva is my home town. All I read in that forum as far as Geneva is concerned is related to Pros only.

The red light district is called "les Paquis", and it is right in the centre--a short walk from the main railroad station, between the station and the lake. "Rue de Berne" is easy to find and right in the middle of it.

Thanks for the info on "Les Tables". The address is totally correct. Let me give some guidelines for those who have not been there yet:
- Les Tables is a mixture of striptease club and champagne club
- I was there on a week night and it was not very crowded.
- There was no continious action on stage, but from time to time girls are dancing on stage, although they don't strip at all
- The entrance was free. Drinks are about 25 Swiss Francs. Topless lap dance is 30 SFr, total nude lapdance is 50 SFr. Lesbian show is 140 SFr.

Enjoyed a Friday night in Geneva last night with a couple of friends, and fully intended avoiding the cabarets, but soon changed our minds. The idea being see what's on offer, try to fix a deal for 5am, and if we'd not scored a freebie by then with the notoriously difficult young Swiss girls, fall back on the p$p reserve!
First, in the red light district, been meaning to go to a new "erotic theatre" place which sprung up near the Sex Center a while back. It may have changed hands already, as it's now got Bikini Bar written on it, or something similar, and is only open til 2am. Now this place is different to the norm, and a welcome addition. You pay 50 CHF for 2 songs in a private area, and anything goes, sucking fucking, but obviously 2 songs isn't enough and you can't request Led Zepellin or New Order as you're two songs!! But compared to £20 in a London lap dancing place, or $30 in L.A. or N.Y, it's more fun and better value. Of the 3 girls we saw in our brief visit one was about a 4, another a 5.5 and the best a 6.5, so not great, but maybe the other better ones were already engaged. So not a great place, but I'll probably be back for some stimulation for a mere 50ChF.
Bad news followed as we headed across the water to the old town. A club/cabaret I've mentioned before here, Picadilly, has now closed. This was where I had my cheapest ever cabaret shag, and one of my regular ex CIS babes came from there before her visa expired. Looks destined not to re-open from the look of the outside.
Down on Rue Franck Martin near the Alhambra Theater, the Crazy Paradise cabaret has also shut. This was special because occasionally, very occasionally, the rarest of Geneva sights (pussy on stage) made an appearance. Separe here was way overpriced though and they appear not to budge! Damn again that it's closed.
Finally we headed off down the riverbank to Quai de Seujet, to Club Platinum, with intention to call in first at the cabaret conveniently located next door. It's called Diamonds, and the sign was lit outside, but again, upon walking down the passage, it too was closed. It doesn't look permanent though.
The reduction in cabaret numbers can only be bad news for what little competition there is.
Aigle D'Or overlooking the lake still has high quality and good atmosphere, but nowhere near the noon-stop dancers we were used to on previous visits, and again the champagne cost is way too high.
That's this evening's update - any more research welcome, I don't intend to be the only contributor here!!!

After some research on here, I was very concerned about the lack of "reasonable" monguering in Geneva. Alas, I'm stuck here for 10 days, wich is a pity to not take advantage of. The service was the same as the night before, but at the beginning, I got a nude rubb/dance. That's it for now. I will keep you posted for the rest. Just one word of caution, do not think just because of the prices I received that non-SW monguering cost have decreased. I called and checked a few escorts pusblishing on some of the websites mentioned below and got 300-500 CHF for the half-hour as initial quotes. Tonight I feel like a good massage, but at the same time I'm exhausted from work. Not sure what I will do. I will keep you guys posted.

Basically Velvet is the "best" - but very very pricey, and not value for money.
Probably has largest collection of pretty girls, but one hour's separe will cost minimum of about 900Chf for a bottle and min of 800 for girl = 1700Chf=£800/$1500.
Others slightly cheaper and comparable with girl quality are La Coupole (also expensive - recently relocated to Rue de Rhone I think it is), Aigle D'Or (one of my faves) and Pussycat Saloon (always worth a look).
Much cheaper are the likes of 1001 nights (Mille et une nuits) near the bridges across the river/lake, and up near the rail station is the cheapest of all I've found, Sensi. My last visit there cost 320 for a bottle and same for a russian girl who gave OWO and rimming, but only one shot in the hour, but got 80 minutes separe for 640Chf/£290/$550

BataClan is right in the old town and makes a big deal of being an "original cabaret" but it's pretty average inside, and never busy.
La Coupole is probably much more like your scene from what you write. It has many gorgeous East European girls, and nice surroundings, with fairly permanent topless stage show. Not 100% sure whether you can make love to girl there or not - prices stupid, so never tried. Definitely best place to take a wife.
Velvet is top of the range, in terms of price and quality of girls, but not as bright and cheerful as La Coupole.

There are no FKK clubs or anything remotely similar in Geneva, sadly. If you look in the sex contact guides on sale in tabac and station etc. you may find a swingers' club, but whether you get in, how much and how good they are I cannto help you with.
There is a new cabaret in Geneva worth mentioning though, following the demise of Crazy Paradise, and the one out past the Mandarin hotel on Quai Seujet.
The new place is called Krystal, and is very near Aigle D'Or, on the side road next to the Metropole Hotel. It's notable for having two stages for dancers, plus a shower-show (douche).
My first visit found a very healthy number of girls (about 12-14), of which more than half were good quality. Negotiating the Knight way (asking for rendezvous at 5am) wasn't overly successful here though....mind you my efforts were hampered by a very persistent Lebanese girl who only rated a 5.5
I did arrange a price of 300CHF for her to stay in my hotel til midday next day, but I got distracted at Pussycat Salon later in the night, and failed to make the meeting!
The private apartments I've checked out recently on Rue de Lausanne and the 3 "salons" in Rue Pradier are all still open, but quality of girls wasn't great - certainly not a patch on the cabaret offerings.

There have been a few changes, so I thought I would update.
Firstly the bad news - the visas for Eastern European girls are ending in July - no more new after that supposedly, which will really harm the hobby here, and I'm guessing increase prices for those of us who like to negotiate for independent visits by Cabaret Girls.
Cabarets closed in past few months include:
1) the one by the airport/Holiday Inn, which promised to re-open but last time I checked it was still dead.
2) Piccadilly - still advertising in some of the night-guides, but no sign of re-opening. Just a surprise the building hasn't "let" sold for somethiing else yet...maybe there is hope of a return. I liked this cabaret as I had some unbelievably cheap sessions in there, probably detailed on one of my old reports somewhere here.
3) The cabaret on Seujet, past the Mandarin hotel, near the Platinum disco. Perhaps the shortest life of any cabaret in Geneve.
New finds:
1) Krystal (Rue de Prince? nr Rue de Rhone) - very nice inside, and with a shower-show, but seldom do the girls perform in there. Also, no sex inside the club I've been told, and the girls, although generally good quality, are too spoilt.
2) Crazy Paradise. Rue Franck Martin. This used to be a bit of a small dingy cabaret. They closed for quite a while, but I happened to notice they have re-opened about 2 doors further up the hill (same street), and it's completely different. It's very bright and spacious inside now with comfy sofas, and looks more like a regular disco lounge. Sadly that also means the prices have increased, and again the girls are used to money-no-object expenses laden businessmen, and even if she's the best lay in Switzerland, there's no way I'm paying her CHF1000 when I can an excellent 2 or 3 hours for 400CHF with careful work elsewhere.
and finally, recently I paid a visit to a cabaret I hadn't been to for a couple of years.
Moulin Rouge. Always had a lot of girls, and quality was usually quite good. But this time I have to give it the Knight's 5* award. Prices are still the same as I remember - 20-25 for regular juice or beer, 400 for champagne/separe, and 320 for just company/champagne.
Good news is that (as I can seldom afford to pay the champagne AND the girl) is that all the girls seemed prepared to discuss 5am, or next day visits. There were probably 15-20 girls in all, a couple from Dominican Rep and maybe one from Morocco, the rest from Eastern Europe, and a very very high standard. But the real bonus was that EVERY girl did a full nude striptease! They may only flash the pussy for a few seconds, but at last I found a place where I can watch the girls do full strip, at reasonable prices, and maybe over a Coupe, discuss a rendezvous with a dyevushka later, with no pressure.

You will be fine Explorer with your friend. Tourists are unaffected for short stays. It is only working visas (dancing licences I believe they are termed) which are being limited. For some unfathomable reason I think Africans and Caribbeans (Dominicans) are unaffected, I believe it is only ex-Soviet states where girls will no longer be issued 8 month visas.
I should imagine any new-EU member state girl would still be able to get working visa. The vagaries of the Swiss system still amaze me. They want all the benefits of being in the EU for exploiting travel and labour, but they want all the benefits of complete independence too.

All hotels are guest friendly as long as you've booked a double room to start with.
Hotels are ridiculously expensive though because of all the UN meetings, banks, and the expo centre.
Therefore use a price-search engine, or failing that, the Nash Ville hotel (4*) on Rue De Berne is very central, and they claim their rates on their website are never beaten, even for late bookings. I seldom have to pay more than 170 CHF a night here for a double, sometimes cheaper.
Never pay more than CHF 200.
If you do you are trapped.
If the girl don't agree, you can tell is the price you used to pay.
(Price start usually from 100.- (Geneva 200.- / Lausanne 50.-)).
So you can take a course for CHF 150.- with asian girls.

I have not posted on the Geneva forum for some time, but felt that my past few days in town merited a write up. A lot of the recent forum topics have focused on the clubs in town, and understandably the lack of mongering opportunities. However, perhaps it is my personal taste or preference for ambulating adventure, but I have had the best luck wandering the red light area near the train station, as demonstrated by a find of the past few nights.
She stood about 180 cm, excellent body and lovely face, from Columbia, working independently out of a hotel in one of the back streets by the sex clubs. I was in Geneva on business a few weeks ago. Having read the forum there didn't seem many options. I checked out some of the SW around Rue de Berne but pickings were slim and I wanted more than a 15min quickie.

From what you have already read here you should already know Geneva is not the best sex tourism destination in the world. However, it might be good to share some information I’ve gather over my several visits there.
There’s street action around a park by the Boulevard Helvetique (landmark: the Russian Orthodox Church) on the left bank of the city. You will find nothing above 6 there or may not find anything at all on busy days, weekends or when it’s really cold out. Action takes place inside your car. They would show you spots nearby. You have the choice between a BJ starting at CHF50 (all my quotes will be in Swiss Francs) or sex for 100. BJ is covered and most will refuse a BBBJ. I’ve managed to get a BBBJ a few times but it obviously comes together with a raise in fees. I would not recommend this area unless you are looking for a quick CBJ.
On the right bank of Geneva you have the Paquis. Considered the red light district here but you will see it is only a few blocks with girls standing on the sidewalk doing their thing. Several cabarets/night clubs around, all of them expensive. You would find beautiful girls (anything from 6 to 9) there but it would cost you at least some 400 for a bottle of champagne and basically the same amount for the girl. Most have private rooms (with curtains not doors most of them) with couches or sofas and a table for the bottle. Most girls are EE, some Latinas, very few Black or Asian. Service is not the best I’ve received. After you’ve paid all that money you usually have a kind of nice conversation while having the champagne, then she does a short striptease for you maybe spilling some of the bubbly on her. You might be allowed to lick it off her if you ask but definitely won’t be able to kiss her unless you really insist and that might make her get uncomfortable. It is not impossible, though. Again, very unusual to get a BBBJ and then you have sex on the couch/sofa. If you like volume, go to the Blacks section.
Sex centers are very easy to identify. They have their own little rooms. Some girls stand outside by the entrance some are inside. Quality varies but I’ve met a few really good looking girls in these places, basically EE. Price is also 100. Service is pretty much the same as mentioned above for SW but sometimes you find girls who are a bit more eager to please you. With the little time you have to talk to them before getting busy, I think it is just pure luck if you get one of the nice ones. Be aware that kissing is not allowed and usually they give a CBJ and let you perform in 2 positions. If you are some kind of morphing shape shifter, you will have to pay for more time, so stick to your favorite two.

Swiss Uproar: Prostitute Buried Near John Calvin

GENEVA (AP) -- A well-known prostitute who campaigned for the rights and dignity of sex workers was given an honored place of rest on Monday, in the same cemetery where Protestantism's John Calvin is buried, and some women activists criticized the decision.
Griselidis Real, who died in 2005, was buried in the presence of 200 people at the Cemetery of the Kings, which is reserved for individuals that have profoundly marked Swiss or international history. Argentinian writer Jose Luis Borges and child psychologist Jean Piaget are among the luminaries interred there.
The body of Real, who was 76 when she died only 10 years after she is said to have given up prostitution, was exhumed from another cemetery in Geneva for the ceremony that some -- particularly women -- have called offensive.
''If every woman that had children to raise alone turned to prostitution, the city of Geneva would be a bordello,'' said Amelia Christinat, a feminist and former member of the Swiss parliament who opposed Real's reburial.
Jacqueline Berenstein-Wavre, the first woman to head Geneva's parliament, also objected.
''No woman should rejoice at this transfer, which is nothing but the elevation of a prostitute and of prostitution in general by its male protectors,'' she told the daily Tribune de Geneve, which noted the scarcity of women buried in the honored ground, less than a quarter of the 350 graves.
Prostitution is generally legal in Switzerland, with red light districts in some cities. But Real worked for years to improve working conditions.
She helped found Aspasie, an association which describes itself as promoting solidarity with sex workers. Aspasie says she compiled a massive collection of newspaper clippings, films and other documentation about prostitution over 30 years and that her four children donated the database to the association on her death.
Geneva's Protestant Church has been reserved in its criticism about the reburial, even though the former fighter for prostitutes' rights now rests near one of the central figures in the history of Christianity.
The city once known as the ''Protestant Rome'' is honoring Calvin's 500th birthday this year with publications, exhibitions and performances. The celebrations, however, have been somewhat muted, perhaps in deference to the 16th-century theologian's stern views on life and excess.
The cemetery is ''not a sacred place,'' Roland Benz, moderator of Geneva's association of pastors, was quoted by the Ecumenical News International as saying.
Real was born in 1929 in Lausanne. A divorced mother of four children, she began working as a prostitute in Germany in the 1960s and later moved to Geneva, becoming a leading campaigner for prostitutes' rights.
In her autobiographical books ''Black is a color'' and ''Dance card of a courtesan'' she denounced the hypocrisy of a society that condemns prostitutes while using their services.
Patrice Mugny, a local politician who championed the transfer, said the city was ''in no case apologizing for prostitution, but honoring an individual who distinguished herself by battling for human dignity.''
''This shows that human dignity is not a question of social status, that it is not limited by moral prescriptions,'' he said at the ceremony.
Ruth Morgan Thomas, a leading European campaigner for prostitutes, said the burial was an important recognition for sex workers ''who demand simply to be treated without discrimination and valued as an integral part of society.''

Arrived in Geneva for two nights. Busy time, but I manage to squeeze in a bit of mongering. As already noted by many on the board, the price/quality ration in Geneva is poor. But at least ‘it’ is available, and with minimal hassle. You could even do ‘it’ in a two hour stop-over. Land. Print a free pass for the express train from the airport into town, cross over, two to three blocks straight ahead along Rue des Alpes and turn left into Rue de Berne, turn right into Sismondi and you’ve already past several SWs and that hang out in this beautifully compact red light district. Any of them, for 100CHF (Swiss Francs) will take you to somewhere very close by and do whatever you’ve agreed (with varying amounts of enthusiasm or lack thereof) for 20 minutes or more. Some even do it in a ‘sex-shop’ – the Swiss, upmarket version of a set of Amsterdam booths but with the women outside.
Staying in Geneva is somewhat more involved. Firstly, accommodation. Geneva exists to service the trillion odd international organisations and their flunkies that have to entertain each other mostly on your tax bill. Ask somewhere where a ‘cheap’ hotel is and they will probably laugh. One hooker ‘indicated’ a 50CHF place supposedly nearby. But she was too busy doing SFA to point precisely enough to be of help.
On top of that, when I arrive, most of them are fully booked. I plod the streets for over an hour, and very few out of the two dozen or so can offer me a room at any price. A couple (literally) think they are doing me a big favour finding a room available at 170CHF or more. Now that, for an average 3-star hotel room, does not sound like a deal to me. But neither does sleeping in Geneva Airport, which competes for the most uncomfortable airport ever (Even the swish restaurants don’t have comfortable seats, much less the discretely concealed waiting areas – one is obviously meant to be a member of a VIP lounge when not shopping in the astronomical duty-free designer stores.)
But in its favour, there is a lot more to Geneva than the red-light Paquis district. Once registered at a hotel, you have a free travel pass to explore the city, the lovely old town, and a culture that (for better or worse) breathes class down your neck like a hostess at the world’s most exclusive black-tie dinner-dance.
Best buy in the accommodation near ground-zero game seemed to be the youth hostel at 30 Rue Rotschild. A private double room en-suite will knock you back a mere 97CHF. It’s at the farthest end of Paquis from the station. First bad point is that you have to walk through the dodgiest bit of the area to get back if you want to monger late at night (or else detour along the main road). Second bad point is that, on this occasion, it is full.
I am wondering if I have done serious damage to my legs when I try a place on Sismondi. Now I know why streetwalkers don’t do any walking. On these streets, it can be tiring in the extreme. With some haggling (and generosity, I think, on the part of the very kind manager) I bag a fully fitted apartment for 150CHF. It’s more than I planned to pay, but at least it’s good value. (On a previous trip, I’ve stayed at Hotel at Home, but the Nash Ville Hotel (on Berne) also has rooms for under 150CHF at times, as does the Drake Longchamp, though the latter is away near the YH).
I’ve made a list of girls to phone from the Tribune newspaper, but with the anticipated cost of calls, my substandard French, and the not-knowing-what-you’ll-get when you meet her, I decided to just do the SWs. They start just before 10am (I could see them from my apartment balcony) and keep going through the night. After 2am though, they were not only thinner on the ground but there were a great number of disreputable-looking youths roaming the streets in groups of 3 or 4. And they seemed more interested in gullible-looking tourists than the girls.

Yes, "La Trappe", that's the name I forgot! I never bought a big bottle there; other drinks weren't too expensive, and yes, the food was good! 1) Paquis (SW). Paquis is a small red light district near the central station (Cornavin). This is my maiden post on this site, and as I am in Geneva often, I can give travelers to this city some advice as to where to go and what to do, monger-wise. This post also includes some info on Lausanne, which is very noteworthy.
First of all there are a few good local websites where girls put up ads:-
