I met No_Commit yesterday around 22.00 and we went directly to Avlu Bar. Although it was pretty early, Avlu was full of nice chicks. We had a beer there (10 million each) and wanted to continue to Pikolo Bar next door, but that was closed due to a police raid on the weekend.

I got to Ankara on the 12th on the same flight with LE from Istanbul and once we reached Ankara went our separate ways only to meet each other the next evening for another boy's night out. I had the intention to venture out on Ankara on my own the night I arrived but opted not to.
The next day, I actually met up with LE and his mates in a bar in Tunali at 8 pm. We had a small chat and I had to dash off home for some personal business. We met up again at 10ish at the same bar where LE was waiting for me alone this time. Funny enough we ran across the same crowd he introduced me in 2 different bars later on. Ankara is a small scene after all. We decided to go on a fact-finding mission visiting as many bars as we can.
We started our evening at Avlu bar. This is the upstairs bar of the two bars right next to Dedeman hotel. This one is supposedly flashier, pricier and has more girls available. We positioned ourselves at a strategic location at the bar and chatted a bit while eyeing the local talent. All girls are Turkish here. There are some truly ugly ones as well as some 8's available. Some were trying to make eye contact and strike a conversation. Girl to monger ratio was probably 2 to 1 and the joint was already packed with people even at 10.30. We had a couple of beers and paid up 20 million for the bill. LocalExpert is indeed the local expert, as everyone seems to know him.
Pikolo next door, which is downstairs, was closed as LE says due to some police raid. But this bar was friendlier and less pricy compared to Avlu last time I had visited the place.
Next port of call was Club 1001 Gece. This place was much less crowded and there were a few girls dancing on the dance floor. One of them had the most obvious protruding nipples and was defying gravity (LE eyed that one) and the other, which I fancied, was called Yasemin and her body looked pretty good to me. We called them to our table and within the minute they made the deal and gave their phone numbers to us for later use. The bill there was 60 million including 2 drinks for the girls.
We then moved on to the place opposite Neva Palas Hotel but I can't recall the name. It was a huge room with few people sitting around. There were a few girls but none were striking. After paying up 20 million for a couple of beers and stumbling to LE's contingent who were making the tour on their own we moved on to Final on the same small street as Dedeman. We were sat a table right in front of the dance floor and there were about 10 Russian girls dancing. The headwaiter sat with us and explained that this was a "touristic gazino" which means that it is a pavyon with a fancy name where they are there to get you. Beer costs 10 million each but a lady drink would set you back 40 million (similar to what you would pay at Bacardi in Istanbul). But the catch here is that you can't actually take the girl out before 5 am. Yea right! Modus operandi is that they make you drink as much as possibly while racking up lady drinks and you would be lucky if you can wave at the girl while she is going out at 5 am. After another 20 million bill, we moved back to Avlu calling up on our pre-arranged girls.
They met us on the street and shared a taxi together. They seemed to know where we were going. Oh by the way, LE had kindly invited me over to his place for the night. Anyway, we got condoms on the way and finally reached our destination. LE and Sevda disappeared in their room and I was left alone with Yasemin. At first she was very pleasant and she and I got undressed and I had my shower. But then she received this phone call and made an appointment with someone else an hour later! At that point I had already paid her 150 million (USD 110) for 2 shots, which seemed to me a 2-hour deal. When I told her this, she became irritated and said she could only stay for 1 hour. And when I was trying to open the couch, she said I didn't need to, as she did not want a bed, and so on. I got pissed off and asked my money back telling her I didn't even want to touch her with a 10-foot pole. She said she already lost time, which was fair and kept 40 million while I took 110 million back. I then noticed her bagging the condoms and took all of those back as well. Yasemin had a really nice body and I would have really liked to bonk her but I didn't want to put up with her attitude. After they left, I also called up a cab and said good-bye to the LE and went straight back to Avlu. A tall fake blond with a so so body had tried to talk to me earlier. She seemed to have a better attitude so I went straight for her. She was surprised to see me back and promised to make me happy which she certainly did. Since no_commit's and my reports are up-to-date, you can rely on them prefectly. Things usualy don't change in Ankara, so even the old reports are still "up-to-date".

The prices are: 80 million TL (= 60 USD) for one fuck and 150 million TL for 2 in your hotel / home.

I suggest the following tour: Avlu - 1001 Gece - Pikolo. If you find a good chick in 1001 Gece, get her mobilephone number and meet her outside, so you don't have to pay money to the door-guard, the gardrobier, etc.

I wanted to post my massage parlour experience as well to conclude my trip to Turkey. I wanted to check out the massage parlour scene in Ankara before I left having heard from our good friend LE. Unfortunately he only knew general locations of the two parlours he had heard of. As I had some free time, I wanted to explore myself. I guess I was very lucky. I found a parlour at my first attempt in GOP. The place is called 7-12 and is located on the main street just before McDonalds and the exchange office located on the first floor of an apartment building. As I had no idea whether they offered Value Added Services, my first time was in exploratory nature and my second time was quite fun.
The owner must be some ex-football player (has a huge photo on the wall). The receptionist/manageress is the sexiest girl I saw there. She is very flirtatious as well. I wish I had more time & opportunity while I was in Ankara! She manages her appointments using a diary and I saw 6 girls' names on that given day's page. But I never saw more than 2 girls in the apartment (both of my visits were around 17 pm-perhaps more choices are available later in the evening). The cost of a 45 min straight massage is 30 million (about USD 40) and a 25 min soap massage is 25 million. If you get both, the cost is 50 total. Massage is OK but soap massage is touch and go. Definitely nothing like Bangkok! Don't get your hopes too high.

Last night I went out to 1001 Gece and Avlu just to talk to the waiters and get a true statement about the prices. I complained that they often rip of guests and told them, that if they wanted more foreigners to frequent their bars, they should be fair to us.

In 1001 Gece, the waiter "Aydin" (surprisingly) told me that the beer/cola/etc. for the man is 10 million TL and the drink for the girl is 15 million. You do NOT have to pay any tip to the gardrobe or the donkey who opens the taxidoor for you. (He said the latter explicitly !) Just tell these guys that you dont have any change "bozuk param yok". I told him that I will put his name on the internet, so refer to him in case you have problems.

In Avlu it is the same, just you have to pay around 5 million for the gardrobe. In there, call the waiter "Orhan" and again refer to me, if necessary.

The reason why these waiters try to fuck their guests is that they do not receive a normal salary, but live on tips.

Cool Morris: I would like you to talk to these waiters when you are here and inform me whether they stuck to what they promised.

Last night I went "down the road" again and found a new place. It is called "Karizma Bar" and about 50m down to 1001 Gece. The prices are the same as mentioned below and the club is full with fake blonds. I actually didnt see a single "non-blond" girl there :-). The Turkish - Russian ratio is 80 - 20.

This bar is the cleanest and most modern from all bars I have seen and I pretty much enjoyed myself :-)

Since they have a "tourist licence", Karizma is open until 06.00 a.m. The chick I took home told me that the real party there starts at 04.00 a.m. because the girls from the other bars, which close earlier, all snatch in at that time

GOP stands for Gazi Osman Pasa. 7/12 is on the main street ( I think is called Ugur Mumcu). It is located just before you see McDonalds on your right hand site. I am afraid this is the best I can do as I no longer have their card or phone number.
Their receiptionist, can babble a few English words but what you want and what they serve is a very basic concept which needs no words to describe.

Was out again last night :-)

Karizma was closed due to a police raid. One of my favourite chicks told me that the bar's owner had to renew his booze-license, so we dont expect the place to open until mid-september.

Yesterday was kind of a muslim holy night or so ("kandil" in Turkish), so many Turkish birds did not work, but interestingly I saw many, really beautiful Russian chicks hanging around in the bars.

My chick invited me over to a new place (also in the Dedeman area) which I have never visited before. It is caled "Fiba Bar". and the stock was pretty good. Prices are the same as everywhere; there were actually some real stunners hanging around.

I have to admit, she is good, actually she was really good, she even got wet and we cuddled after I came (which didnt take me long). In short, she provided good GFE.

Ok Guys here is my report from Ankara:

I went to Avlu right next to Dedeman. It was kinda exciting I had never done anything like that before. I walked down the stairs, not knowing what to expect. I went a bit early to see if I can pick up some fresh meat before they got used for the night. I sat down, ordered a beer. Behind me were a group of ladies sitting at a table, I would say 6-7-8 s. Not too bad. Suddenly one came up to me, her name was ISIL. Cute brunette, about 5-3. She sat down next to me, asked me to order her a drink, which I did. Than she just got right to the point. I asked her how much. Basically agreed on $100 U.S.

We got in the cabby...and yes, that donkey asked for a bahsis or tip for opening the taxi door...I had not read local_experts about the donkey so I did tip him a few million.

We went with ISIL to their hotel in Ulus. Now there the guy asked for ID, meaning my Turkish ID, which I did not give him. Instead told him I was a foreigner and gave my license. If you area foreigner don't give your passport, give them your driver license, that should be sufficient. Went up to the room, she got undressed.

CBJ, and 2 cups. She was really great and engaging conversationalist. Than she insisted that we call her friend for a two some. I was feeling kinda frisky so said what the hell, called her friend, taller blonde, Iranian origin, forgot her name. So I did her and they left pretty quickly afterwards.

I have never had the pleasure with Iþýl, and cant recall having even ever seen her. If you went down the stairs to the bar, you did not go to Avlu, but to Pikolo Bar. As said before, I prefer this place to all others; the bartender is not an asshole as all the others are and the girls are a bit more into GFE. USD 100 makes about 140 million TL these days. That is what I pay when I take the girls home for 2 sessions. 2 hours translates to the girls as 2 fucks and (depending on the day of the week) they may rush. I never tip the girls, nor do I provide them with extra taxi money or so. Glad to hear that you had a nice trip on the "love-boat" :-)

2) Bunny Hopper:

As said above, I pay 150 million for 2 sessions. you can have an all-nighter for 300 milion. I just did that once with a girl from 1001 Gece, but thats only because I was very drunk and accordingly horny. Was a waste of money. I wanted to screw her twice at night, then sleep and have her again in the morning when I wake up. We did it twice, then when I told her that I wanted to sleep, she said she won't sleep but I could do her as much as I wanted to during the night. I decided to send her away then, cause I was really tired at that point.

I am afraid there is NO afternoon activity in Ankara, the bars all open around 10 p.m. I have the telephone numbers of several girls from various bars and when I feel in need during the afternoon, I call them and they come around after 4 p.m. The prices do not change.

Now...... You did indeed hit the point regarding ramadan. The nice thing about that month is that all our God-Fearing local friends are afraid of mongering during these four weeks and even some girls do not work (increases the amount of russian chicks and makes the prices drop). As I can recall from last year, Avlu and Pikolo were closed during the first week of ramadan, but opened later on. As far as I am concerned, ramadan starts on the 24th of October, which is just a few days before you arrive her. I am sorry I had not thought about that before ! Nevertheless, even if the shit hits the fan, my telephone list of girls is long, so I can provide you with good girls during your entire stay. I will call a girl tonight and ask her for details regarding which bars will be open during ramadan and will post the results here.

My Sibel-expirience was GREAT, to be honest. She is a good solution for any foreigner with no knowledge of Turkish and who wants to avoid any ripp-offs in the bars. I could fuck her as often as I wanted to, she was REAL GFE and definitely worth every penny. If you calculate the following, you are actually better off with her than with a bar-girl for an all-nighter:

During a bar tour (let us say 4 bars) you may expect the following costs:

- 4 beers for you including ripp-off: 4 x 20 million (10 million is the normal price)
- 2 beers for two girls, one with attitude: 2 x 30 milion (15 million is the normal price)
- Hotel in Ulus: I think 30 or 40 million
- Taxi fairs: 20 - 30 milion
- Various tips to various donkeys: 50 million (if you go to 4 bars)
- 300 million for the girl from let us say 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. (if at all you find a girl who does an all-nighter)

.... summs up to 560 million TL or 400 USD. With Sibel, you have a top girl, can start screwing here already at 8 p.m. and dont have the hassle, as she delivers to your door. If you are on a business trip and the company pays for the hotel anyway, she is certainly a great solution.

........... and yes, I did lay back, but I didnt think of England, I cried "mama and papa" instead :-)))))))))

I have just returned from a trip to Ankara.

For both topics you will be best advised to get a copy of the "Turkish Daily News". There are many adds for furnished flats and cars with drivers. Go to their webpage (www.turkishdailynews.com) for further infos, especially where you can get a hard copy of the paper. Anyway, if you have a (furnished) flat, you can bring in as many girls as you want to.

A furnished flat costs around 600 USD per month, a car (without driver) is about 40 USD per day. I do not think that you actually need a car and/or driver, as the taxi prices are very low here and you wont spend more than 20 USD a day on transportation if you live in Çankaya, Kavaklýdere or GOP.

I was in Ankara for 4 days last week and I had a good look at a number of bars between the American embassy and the Dedeman Hotel area. I eventually settled on Pikolo close to the Dedeman hotel. I went there for a couple of evenings and the bar had much the same selection of ladies every night. The advice of Local Expert was very helpful.

I've been based in Ankara for a while now for work reasons but until last night I never really checked out the local scene. Anyway last night I decided to give it a try.

After reading Local Expert's latest post, I headed straight for the 1001 Gece bar near the Dedeman Hotel. On the way I noticed that the Pikolo and Avlu bars were both open, so I guess they solved whatever problem they had with the cops.

Anyway I turned up at the entrance of 1001 Gece at about 1 a.m. I really didn't like the look of the place, not that you can see inside much. It gave me a bad vibe for some reason, so I didn't go in. Instead I headed off to the Pikolo.

In my opinion this pace is really bad. You go down some stairs then on the left there's a small bar. The rest of the room (which is not very big) has chairs and tables and its a bit like being in someone's living room. Its pretty crappy and seedy. There were only about 6 - 8 "girls" there - mostly Turks I guess, but a couple of Russians as well. All were pretty ugly and most were a bit on the elderly side. After 1 beer (10 million TL) I left. To be honest, I thought this place was a depressing dump.

Anyway next I went to Avlu, right next door. This place is much better. Its quite big, on 2 levels, and there's a long bar that runs along one wall. So that's where I sat for the next couple of hours. The beers were 15 million TL each - I'm not sure if I was being ripped off here or not....

The selection of girls here was better than Pikolo, but not great. Probably half a dozen Turks and a few Russians. None of them seemed that young and all had a fairly hard and "used" look if you know what I mean. I quickly discovered that no-one speaks English, which is a problem for me as I only know about 10 words of Turkish....

Anyway there was 1 Turkish girl there who looked OK. Quite tall, long curly hair and quite a good, curvy body. Unfortunately she left with a Turk before I could catch her eye but after an hour or so she came back. This time I signalled I was interested, she came over and negotiations commenced.

She spoke no English at all but one of the barmen knew a few words and he helped out. Following my short report on my experience in Antalya I should like to update fellow members on the current scene in Ankara.

Firstly I would agree with some of the reports about the Avlu bar not being as good as it used to be. One sees the same old faces there and the place has become a little stale – the quantity is still there but the quality is decreasing. I have attempted to discover alternative places to both this bar, the Fiba Bar, the Charmie (Cami) Bar and the 2001 Gece Bar. I have not really tried out the Pikola Bar so will not comment on it.

However there are five others that may be worth a visit

The first is the Korte bar, come out of the Avlu, turn right, take the first left and about 100 metres down the road you will find it on the right.

It is quite a big place (de luxe even) with a cabaret of sorts later on in the evening, the manager speaks German and the girls are mainly Turkish with a sprinkling of other nationalities.

The second is directly opposite this bar on the corner, I have not visited it but have heard from one or two of the girls that it is not too bad – the one time I passed by it appeared to be empty. I guess like all the bars it depends when you visit and most of the time you have to be lucky.

The third is the Piko Bar. Come out of the Korte bar, take the street directly opposite it and the bar can be found about 300 metres down this road on the right. It was not too crowded the two times that I have visited it but there were always a few girls available there.

The fourth bar is right next door to the Piko bar (both these bars are opposite Hotel 2000). It is called the Contesa bar (relatively new I think) and some reasonable looking Turkish girls can be found here.

The last bar is the Clas Bar in Kizilay (go to Kizilay and take a left at the first big junction and it is in the second road on the right on the left hand side – I do not know the exact address unfortunately). This bar is quite good with a number of girls of different nationalities, mainly Turkish of course, but all of a reasonable standard.

I hope this information provides fellow members with a number of alternatives when visiting Ankara.

Local Expert appears to be the expert on the Ankara scene (I hope that we run into each other sometime) so it would be interesting to hear his views on these places

After short break I decided to check out the Dedeman area last night.

It was evident that the police have become a little over zealous, without any consideration for us mongerers, as the Avlu, Karizma, Fiba and Charme Bars were all closed.

The 2001 Gece Bar was open but as it is not my favourite bar I tried the Korte Bar which was open and very lively. I saw one or two familiar faces there, due no doubt to the other bars being closed, and in general the level was quite good. The young barman speaks a little English and I have found less hassle from these guys (waiters, doormen etc) than in other clubs.

I've been reading the WSG for a few years but never posted any article. Time to break that streak with this one....I recently visited Ankara while I was in vacation in Turkey. Turns out that his name was Piko and he was the owner of the both the Contes and Piko bars.

I personally believe it would be better to get your room first and then bring the girl with you later. In the Dedeman you have to pass the reception in order to get to the elevator, but the staff is used to incoming "couples".

Last weekend I was in Ankara and stayed in Dedeman.

I checked Pikolo and Avlu. Since I have an negative impression about avlu that it is a little ripoff, I checked pikolo first.

There were 6-8 WGs at 11:30 and no new comer till I left 00:30 There wasn't any one f..kable. All turkish girls was from gitane (As we say roman citizens) people and their accent and wordings can esily turnme off in the bed.

There was one lady very dark tanned like african but face was like kırghiz. Very long black and yellow hairs. In fact she had a nice body I didn't fancy about her.

I left 00:30 and passed to avlu. Avlu is a bigger place but there were same amount of ladies but triple the mens. Since it was a very bad girl/men ratio and avarage physical quality of the girls even worse than pikolo I just walkaround and getout without sitting. I paid 25YTL just for a drink in pikolo and I didn't want to waste another 25-30 more.

Frankly, I was disappointed by the mongering scene of Ankara. Next time I should arrange some mamasans in advance.

You guys are both right, it is pretty bad in Ankara these days. The prices in Pikolo have increased to 15YTL per beer (20 for the girl), so Cenghas got ripped off. I dont like the new owner/bar staff of Pikolo, they are wankers. On the other hand, the girls are better in Pikolo than they are in Avlu these days. well johnny... nothing new, but still sad. there are not so many russian girls in the "contact bars" in ankara, but you will find nearly only russians in the so called "pavyon" in ankara. "pavyon-girls" are hard to get into the sack, so those chicks are actually "safe".

As Ramadan has started, the bars in the Dedeman area might be closed in the first 2 weeks. Many Eastern girls use this month to go back to their home countries, especially the ones from muslim countries like Kasachstan, etc.

Gentlemen, allow me to give you a brief update on the scene in Ankara:

Basically the only places to go to these days are "Avlu" and "Pikolo", next to the Dedeman Hotel. All other clubs suck, respectively are closed. Avlu and Pikolo were the only places I could find decent chicks to take to the hotel during the Ramadan.

Pikolo has renovated; apparently the owner invested 100.000 Euro into the place. It does look better than before, but the toilets are still as they were in the past. At least they installed a proper ventilation system now. The girls in there are, as you know, my favourites, but still Avlu is worth a visit.

In Avlu they raised the prices, so you pay 25 YTL for your beer now; in Pikolo it is still "just" 20 YTL.

I assume the girl's beer is 40 YTL, respectively 30YTL in Pikolo. Therefore make sure, that you ONLY call the chick over you wanna take home after, as you are supposed to pay every girl you talk to a beer.

There is a pretty good chick, called ESRA in Pikolo. She is an Azeri-Turk and knows what she is supposed to do in the sack.

If you look for a good night, I can say that Binbir Gece (1001 Nights) is ideal.

This place is very close to Dedeman Hotel on the Akay Street and it is easily visible. If you can't see, you can ask anyone around there, they can show you. It has a good and short entrance. From the short lobby, you directly enter into the place. The place is not very wide and moderately decorated. All around the walls are decorated with longes having a stage scene. But the spaces between longes and the stage are filled with tables where mostly the girls sit. Newcomers are also seated these tables, and for this reason, they can't get a full vision of the place (a small tip corrects this defect).

It is not useful to go to the place before 10:00 pm or so. The girls usually arrive after this hour towards the midnight. When you go there around these times, you can see the whole scene. The music made in the place is satisfying and live. You can see lots of people coming only for this music and the entertainment there. And for this reason, as a man looking for a girl, you have less competition because of the scarce resources.

The prices are quite reasonable, not much higher than those in a normal bar. If you are generous enough to give some tips to the waiters, especially the chief waiter, you can be sure that the bill will not be very high. At least, two times of the tips will be deleted from the bill. If you play that you are acquianted with the night life, the chief waiter will certainly come to your table to become acquianted. Then he can help you in many respects.

There are always twenty to thirty girls. Some of these girls always get hung up on this bar and some of them are wanderers but they are known by the owner place very well. Their prices are not different from the other places but the possibility of finding the better girls of any kind is high at this place. Surely, being better is a matter of what you are looking for. But I have to say that I have done everything with the girls and I took many different girls in different occasions. I will tell what I did with these girls in the next report. So I confined this report to a description of the place.

I have discovered this forum recently. I found it useful for my trips abroad, but I should say that the scope related to Ankara is very narrow (as it is the case for Istanbul). If the qualities of the services provided in the bars are compared, Avlu is the first, Pikola is the second rip-off places around the Dedeman Hotel. The managers of these two places assume that since people are coming to take girls, it is not logical to expect customer loyalty so the higher the bill the higher the profit. There is no regular price of the drinks or foods or other things. A drink may be 30 YTL or 40 YTL. I think it depends on the mood of the waiters and appearance of the customer. Actually, this is more correct for Avlu Bar than for Pikola. But they have always brought me swollen bills at Pikola though I have gone there for years and become acquainted with all of the waiters. Moreover, though nobody forced as the time went on from the doorman to the barman, from two to three waiters to the instrumentalists everybody in the bar appeared to expect some tip. Furthermore, giving these tips have resulted no drop in the bills (maybe for I am not tipping the person who prepares the tip). But whatever the reason, this is a very irritating and repulsive experience.

If you suffer from premature ejaculation like many other people or if you come within 5 to 10 minutes even when you use condom, and if you just want one or two reliefs with a woman, why bother to go to these places and give your money to these men who try every means to make you impotent. You just stand Bulten or Bestekar, two parallel roads around the Dedeman Hotel, at any time between 11:00 pm and 04:00 am, you can see a number of girls in their own cars. Don't worry! Tuesday night at 11:00 pm I visited Kontes. Kontes is one of the best, widest places suitable for mongering in Ankara. It is at the intersection point of the Kennedy Street and Bestekar Street, the upper parallel street of famous Tunis street.

Actually, I used to go to Kontes very often until the last year. But in the beginning of the summer, there occurred an armed clash inside the bar between a group of customers and the waiters and one of the waiters shot and killed one of the assailants. Since these kinds of events were not what I am looking for when I go to such bars, I had ceased to go there. But I was hearing Kontes hired a group of bodyguards and did not let people get in with weapons. They put an electronic search machine before the door. And during one year, I heard no incident. For this reason, I decided to re-try the place.

When you enter from the out door, a long downstairs awaits you. When you go down, you meet with the cloakroom. You don’t have give your goods to the cloakroom if you have trustworthy face and attitude. There is always one of the chief waiters and he opens the door to the bar. Inside of the place is quite wide. There is a bar covering almost the whole wall on the left. The stage is straight ahead. All the remaining walls are filled with lodges. Of course, there are small tables in the remaining spaces. Inside the bar, another chief waiter meets and shows a place to you. You can tell him if you prefer to sit on the bar.

In every one or two hours, the program of the artist finish and he/she is replaced by another one. Until 4:00 a.m., you can listen local music from four to five different singers while sipping your reasonably priced drinks. There is even a belly dance show in the midnight. One of the singers taking stage just after midnight was so attractive. When I asked if she is working they said no, but everyone has a price. Anyway, she is not worth to give more for there are quite a lot of beautiful girls in Kontes. But it may be a fantasy. Though one of my girls told me that she can arrange this singer girl if I really want her but the incident I mentioned above happened before I could make a move, and then I forgot. Having spent 4 years in Ankara I can relate very well to Swordlion's and other mongerers' experiences of inflated bills and waiters and other guys always holding their hands out.

In the Avlu bar especially, your bill normally usually just consists of a small folded piece of paper with an inflated sum witten on it and more often or not no detail of the drinks that you had on the inside of the paper. One solution is to cultivate a particular waiter - mine was Yusun (who luckily for me also spoke French). I made a point of always giving him a small tip and this resulted in a reasonably honest bill. You, of course, had to watch that he did not automatically recharge your glass when it was empty. He also became a font of knowledge when it came to discussing with him the girls available.

With regard to the other guys trying to extract money from you for whatever reason, there was a very simple method of dealing with them, firstly never stop and discuss with them, keep walking, and secondly, and more importantly the use of a very simple and common English word - NO, or to make it more clear use the Turkish word -HAYIR.

Following this approach I rarely had a problem in the various bars in Ankara but I do agree that it is not pleasant to be hassled by these guys especially when you are in a strange city.

It happens that I am also in ankara (for two days) and would like to contribute with my experiences about our shared hobby.
