Great story
So this turns out to be the deal – shopping for sex. That’s what she gets out of the relationship – shopping – and in exchange I get sex. This is okay with me, because I like the idea of a quasi-girlfriend experience more than straight P4P.
The only problem is, this is a bit too much like a real girlfriend experience. I mean, in my experience, girlfriends are not all sexy lingerie and good-morning blow-jobs. part two: drunken dyevs in the hungry duck
[this is no longer about kyiv, but all part of the same story, so i hope you don't mind it appearing here]
for the moscow portion of my trip i tried to find another girl like valeria, my kyiv cutie, who would be both my interpreter and girlfriend, but to no avail. a couple of nibbles but no bites.
i also tried targeting girls who lived outside of moscow, with intent to lure them into the big city. this might seem like “bringing coal to newcastle” but my theory was that the market in moscow was over-developed and country girls might be more enticed by the opportunity to meet a western guy, or make some money, or at least get a big-city adventure out of the deal. plus, once they are in town, they have to stay with you! nice theory, but again no results. i had several responses, but one by one they mostly turned out to be scammers. once it was clear i was not sending any money in advance, only cod, they tended to fade away.
so i arrived in moscow with no firm arrangements in place, just a couple of proposed dinner dates. this was fine with me, because my kyiv visit was confined to one girl, and i was happy to have more freedom on this second leg.
i used www.expresstorussia.com to book an apartment, get my letter of invitation and airport transfers. aside from some communications problems this seems to be a good outfit. although there were some nervous moments, everything happened as promised. i booked into an apartment off pushkin square, which proved to be a really good move. the apartment itself was so-so ($150), but a great location about a 2 minute walk from night flight! i think they have much better apartments in the same area, but these were not available the nights i was there.
i arrived on halloween, so i was hopeful there would be some action in the city, despite it being a tuesday night. having noted the dearth of reports about the hungry duck, i decided to take one for the team and visit that venerable establishment, because i heard the tuesday nights they let the dyevs in for two hours of free drinks before unleashing the men on them. so i rolled into the duck at about midnight. i don’t know if they had done the “drinks for dyevs” thing or not, but it was pretty quiet when i got there. i was vastly over-dressed and felt quite out of place. a few dozen people rep001tered around, most of them women, but not much action. there were a couple of good looking girls, but the others were pretty pathetic. still, several were up on the bar dancing, trying to work themselves up to a state of excitement and it looked like if i stayed long enough eventually some of them would do something exciting. i was approached by one girl who clearly wanted to party, but i did not travel 5000 miles to party with ugly girls. then her friend came over, who was a slightly better looking blonde and at least spoke a few words of english, and she wanted to dance and drink also. i suppose i should have bought them drinks and seen what depraved things they would do, but i was afraid the ugly one might take off her clothes and i did not want to start my moscow sojourn on a low note. so after brushing them off, i hung around for a while, then headed for the street, only to be assaulted by the same two girls outside – my last chance for ugly, drunken dyevs from the hungry duck! i passed.
i went back to the apartment and tried some phone numbers from red club ads, but with no success. many of the numbers did not work and the ones where i did get through spoke no english. this was a pity, because a number of these girls looked great and were quite cheap, even for a night, but i guess you have to speak russian to take advantage of that.
so that left me with one realistic option – night flight. i had had supper there, which is a surprising nice restaurant, and had bagged a couple of their business cards which proved very helpful since i could use them like “hotel cards” to give to taxi drivers to get me home. i probably had to pay a bit extra in fares, since they would have assumed i was out on a spree, but it was worth it just to be able to get back home easily. of course at suppertime things had not started to hum downstairs, although i did notice one woman dining alone who i figured was hoping to catch an early worm. but coming back at 2:30 am it was a different story!
if you have never walked the gauntlet on a good night at night flight, then you have never lived! you walk along this long narrow strip beside the bar, lined with gorgeous women on both sides, all eyeing you, and checking you out. there were at least 50 babes in this place, probably more like 100 when you got further inside, and maybe 20 guys, tops. most of the women were pretty good looking, a number of 10s but lots of 8s & 9s. i did not know where to start.

it was okay, not too busy on a wednesday night, and there were only one or two other men in the place. the girls were pretty good and i was still trying to figure out how everything worked when the girl on stage finished her act and came down and started dancing at my table. i did not worry too much about it at first, since i had not invited her or agreed to anything, but eventually i asked her why she was dancing for me and she got all upset and called over an english speaking dancer.

but now i had the english-speaking girl attached to me like a leech and she did not appeal to me at all. i had bought her a drink because she sorted out the problem with the first girl but now i could not get rid of her. i just wanted to check out the girls and figure out the system – at least she could help with that, although i still do not really understand the niceties. the difference between a private dance and a lap dance was unclear to me, and just what level of service you got for 3600 rur versus 6000 rur.
eventually i got a nice second-best girl over and bought her a drink to drive away the english-speaking girl. this one spoke passable english as well, so i was in luck. after a bit of flirting and groping i asked her for a lap dance, but then it was her turn on stage. but after she came off she went straight over to another guy – i think the only other guy, at this stage!

she calls over a waitress with passable english and i explain i want my money back. the dancer takes some money from her bra, but it is not 1600 rur, more like 600. i don’t get angry very often, and i was not really drunk, but i was ready to get mad at this treatment. so i kept demanding my 1600 back and she kept on insisting that was all i had given her and that i had put the 1000 back in my wallet when we had negotiated about the lap dance. now i was on uncertain ground. i certainly had a few thousand-rouble notes in my wallet and it was possible that i had given her just the 600, which she interpreted as my payment of the little post-performance dance she had done for me. but i did not think so, it seemed at least as likely that she had done some sleight of hand with the bills when she turned away – i have seen this sort of thing before, in a different setting.
but all i could do was demand the 600 back at least and get out of there. i was certainly not going to get a good dance there now, nor enjoy it if i did. i may have falsely accused the girl, which would be unfortunate, because she was a really good dancer, but i did not like the way i had been treated. i wanted these girls to sit around and flirt before and after their dances, not treat me like a timed event. anyway, i got out of there alive and vowed not to go back! and so to bed…alone.
thursday night was my date with natasha from the internet – i think elena’s models, the same site as valeria. although it is a bride site i had made it clear that i was looking for a girlfriend, not a bride, although i was not quite as forthcoming about my actual marital status. not knowing much about the neighbourhood, i had suggested that we could dine at café pushkin – an offer natasha leapt at! only on arrival did i discover how expensive this could be, but it was too late to back down – plus i thought if she perceived this as a real treat she would be more inclined to show up and motivated to please.
just a quick tip on café pushkin – order wine by the glass if you are on a budget, it is easy to pick inexpensive wines that way, whereas you have to be really selective if you are ordering from the wine list and wish to avoid bankruptcy!
again, a great theory not supported by empirical evidence. in fact, natasha calls up as i am sitting in the bar – she is sick, has a fever, and regrets she cannot join me. i am still uncertain whether she really was sick or just got a better offer, but we have since exchanged more messages and i will try her again next time.
just the same, i am all dressed up with no where to go. well, there is always somewhere to go. it is thursday night, which i heard was a good night at the real mccoy, so i find a taxi to take me there. despite having the address clearly written out, with metro reference, the driver doesn’t really know how to get there and we drive around a fair bit until we get pulled over by the police! the next half hour is spent with him engaged in earnest discussion with various members of the gendarmerie, getting in and out of their car, and shouting into his cell phone, while i sit stewing in the back seat of the taxi, hoping they police don’t turn their attention on me. i have my passport and immigration card registered and all that stuff, but i don’t speak a word of russian, and none of these guys are going to speak english.
foolishly, i don’t even have our consular number with me and all my embassy contacts were heading out of town that afternoon. happily, the situation resolves itself, the driver returns (furious) and the police don’t hassle me. we head off again and eventually find the real mccoy. i give the driver 100 rur extra for the hassle, which probably did not come near to covering whatever it cost him, but then it was not my fault and he has wasted a big chunk of my evening.
the real mccoy is hopping – it is just packed. and i would guess this is all normal folks, there are not many real stunners there and no obvious pros. but two problems. first, the dress code for café pushkin is not the same as at mccoy, so once again i am vastly over-dressed and out of place. second, with the live music and crowd it is pretty noisy and i don’t see how i am going to engage in sparkling conversation with the locals. this really isn’t my scene – although i can see how it would work for some, and maybe for me on a different night – so i head off again, not even having had a drink! the old adage about not being able to get laid in a *****house is starting to ring in my ears…
moving to plan c, i call up lovely alina, hoping she is not already installed at night flight (i figure my negotiating power is better if she has not already paid her 750 rur cover charge). i need not have worried, it is only 11:00 pm and she is just getting ready. so we agree to meet at the café next to nf at midnight. i figure even if this a bit of a defeat, having to fall back on a proven pro, this is the best way to recover something out of this disastrous evening.
it was a far, far better thing to do, than anything else i might have done. when alina comes into the café i realize that i have been discounting her beauty in my mind. maybe she did not look so great at 5:00 am with semen dripping from her lips (although such an image does have a certain innate charm) but tonight she looks fabulous! beautiful blonde hair, nicely made up, wearing very elegant yet sexy clothes. she has dress for our date, not for night flight, and i feel great and relax. she even makes these ridiculous knee-length shorts that so many women are wearing look good (i hope that fashion disaster moves on before my return to moscow).
a quick coffee then back to my place for champagne and a repeat of the other night ($200), except this time i have booked her for the whole night, so i get a long, leisurely blow job in the morning before heading off to my meetings. alina is a really nice girl (27) with decent english and a good gfe, and i have her phone number if anyone is interested. if valeria had been this friendly or this good i would have been much happier in kyiv!

Part 3: TGFB – Thank God For Blondes!
Friday is slated for Amateur Night, so I head to TGIF also on Pushkin Square. I had avoided TGIF because I did want to eat there, I prefer something more authentic, but I felt what I need now was someplace where locals came to meet expats, and this proved to be the right place! As soon as I stepped in the foyer I exchanged glances with a hot-looking girl and, if I had an ounce of brains or courage I would have grabbed her and let her have her way with my ATM machine and I might have had some success. But I hesitated and let the opportunity slip away.
Instead I headed upstairs and made the mistake of letting them seat me at a table for dinner. Sitting in the dining leaves you very little room to manoeuvre, unless you are very lucky in being seated next to some good prospects. I wasn’t, and the only unaccompanied prospect in view was eventually joined by a friend. So I waste too long getting fed, then head for the bar. There things are better, lots of women around and opportunities to cruise.
In no time I am approached by a pro who wants to know if I want to have a fun evening for $200. This is game day, my chance to try my hand at real mongering for real girls, so I demur. She starts bidding down, I think she gets down to $120, but I tell her I am not interested – she has nice manner, but is no beauty and I don’t think I would do her for free. But I buy her and her friend a drink just to be sociable and they suggest a two-girl special, which is not a very attractive proposition since the friend is even less appealing than the first one.
In the course of the drink buying, I chat briefly with a really cute young girl at the bar who invites me (on the basis of two minutes acquaintance) to join her and her friends (a mixed group) at a party they are all heading off to. This is a mind-boggling concept – imagine that happening to a middle-aged guy in America – but I decline. It is a bit too risky and I have no idea how about the male-female ratio or age spread. Still, it was nice to be asked. I buy off the mediocre hookers with drinks and go find a corner to scout from.
There are two stunning blondes seated close to me, but they are already being worked on by a gorilla-like Russian, so no real opportunity there – although they look like a lot of fun. I waste a bit of time looking around and checking out phone for messages from other date prospects, when the gorilla skulks away, leaving the bevy of blondes unguarded!
Uncharacteristically, I strike while the girls are hot and go over and ask, “est que il vous parlez français?” hoping like hell they don’t, since I have just exhausted my entire French vocabulary. Apparently they don’t speak French, so we agree on English as our lingua franca. These girls are tall, gorgeous, blondes, with beautiful faces and lovely smiles, both around 21 or 22, and they are solid 8s, maybe even better. Nadia, the sweet one, speaks some English and Ann, the sexier one, very little. Initially they refuse my offer of drinks, claiming to be shy, but I persist and succeed. B52s it is, which is a fun drink for them, then later Sex on the Beach, which sounds promising even if it is November.
At one point as I am chatting these girls up, some guy brushes by me and wishes me luck! If that was anyone from this group, thank you for your good wishes!
I ask them what happened to Igor and they say he joined them for a drink or two then left, stiffing them for his drinks! They explain this happens with Russian men all the time! I explain that no western guy would ever permit them to pay for any drinks at all. We drink and chat and flirt for a while (okay, I flirt, they smile demurely) then I ask them if they would like to go to a nightclub. I have been dying to go to Dyagilev and suggested that. They were interested, but did not feel they could get past face control. And they were probably right, I mean they were both good-looking, but only sexy Ann was dressed for partying and not even very slutty at that, whereas sweet Nadia was only dressed for bar-hopping in painted-on jeans.
So I counter-proposed Alex Alco-Hall, supposed a hot new place on Pushkin Square, highly rated in Exile, and unreported here on ISG. It was only a short distance away, so we walked over, but they were discouraged by the small crowd milling about outside. I grabbed their arms, marched them up to the front of the line and we cleared face control with the clever ploy of agreeing to pay the 400RUR (each) cover charge. I think they were very pleased with this VIP treatment and, of course, I was swanning into this swank nightclub with two gorgeous, statuesque blondes on my arms. As we say in my country, in moments of great ecstasy, it was not an entirely unpleasant experience!
I wish I could tell you more about Alex Alco-Hall. It was a cool place with smoke swirling around the dance floor and lots of cute young things writhing about, but in truth I did not look around much. The old adage about “two birds in the hand are worth an infinite number on the dance floor” seemed a wise one to heed, so I gave them my undivided attention. We drank and danced a bit, mostly I let them dance and admired the show. At a glance I think I had to two best looking girls in the place, but as I say I did not do an extensive survey. However, it looked like most of the girls there were quite young, and considering my girls were about 22, that is saying something. The blondes confirmed this, saying they thought lots of the girls were 16-18!
We had some fun and some more drinks, but I drew the line at champagne, which would have been ruinous, just as they drew the line at my hands wandering too far afield. To cut to chase – I did not score with these girls – to score a double-header home-run on my first “at bat” was too much to hope for! But there were moments when I thought I might, and I may still. And even just to be playing the game with these girls was heavenly!! It certainly gave me hope and confidence for future innings!
However, I think someone with more Russian or better game might well have succeeded where I did not. So I understand and believe many of the legendary exploits we see recorded in these annals.
So my blonde beauties wanted to call in a night, but not with me, and we parted company, but not before they agreed to act as my tour guides to Moscow the following day. I had made sure I got their numbers and tested them before I took them to the nightclub. I felt really good about this experience – even without sex. It was certainly much more fun than a strip club. These girls seemed genuinely nice and friendly and I did not feel that I was being gamed by them at all. Of course I bought them drinks and cover charges, but that is trivial, and it was a pleasure to be with them. They seemed happy enough to be in the company of someone who appreciated them and treated them decently.
One final point here, Alex Alco-Hall (Strasnoy Boul 8) is in the same complex as (and allegedly connected to) Babylone, a very hot new strip club. I tried it several nights and never found it open, so I cannot confirm that, but I hope some one else has better luck and sends in a report.
The next day was my last and only day to play tourist, and last chance to score with the blondes. After postponing our rendezvous twice, because they slept in, Nadia and Ann do show up to show me their city. Actually, they were hopelessly incompetent tour guides and as a result I really missed my chance to see much of Moscow, but I figured I was seeing the most beautiful sights in Moscow as it was, so I did not worry about it. They had other attributes. But much to my disappointment they had other plans for the evening – Nadia had a date with her boyfriend, not an unreasonable thing on a Saturday night, and without her, I could not really communicate with Ann. I wasn’t even able to buy them dinner or take them shopping, which I was fully prepared to do. I gave them a little money for spending so much time with me, which they refused the first few times, but eventually relented. I think it is important that they learn that flirting with western men has its rewards!
One of the many things I liked about these girls is that they seem really typical Moscow girls, hard up for money and the nice things in life – whereas some of the other girls I met have had lots of foreign travel and are not really as needy as I need them to be. So I am hoping that is an angle I can work with the blondes on a return trip – nice dinners, some shopping, maybe a romantic trip – these could get me home with these girls, if someone else does not spoil them first.
So with my evening suddenly free I headed back to TGIF, hoping to repeat my success of the previous night. It was not to be, but I did have great time and met some nice girls, including one potential ski bunny (a 20 year old beauty with a 2 year old at home – I am betting she does not have the life-style she hoped for, and might welcome an occasional treat). I found it surprisingly easy to meet people at TGIF, mostly they initiated conversations and I only got rebuffed once. I would certainly go there again, even if just for human contact. It is also a great place to try to get something going early in the evening – I would start before 8:00 pm in the future – when most other venues are not yet open or happening.
I tried a couple of other bars but could not really go back into Divas after my unhappy experience there and Babylone was still closed! I had to head home to pack and get ready for my 4:30 am airport transfer while ordering in from one of the English language escort services listed in the Moscow Times. They sounded cheap, I think it was $100 for one hour, which is all the time I had, but then it was another $50 for BBBJ!
After trying a few, and discovering they were all the same (except for the one who turned out to be our very own Helena – sorry Helena, but I know you do not do BBBJ), in some cases literally the same place, I ordered in one girl, sight unseen (not on their web-site) who was to be there in 20 minutes. 45 minutes later I get a call saying the girl is there, but cannot find the apartment, oh, and by the way, she doesn’t have correct change for the cab. So I give more directions and go down to the street. Back up and down again, and eventually the girl and taxi show up. By now I am running out of time, the girl does not speak any English, still has a problem with the taxi money and I don’t like the looks of her. So I send her away and call the service and tell them why.
With less than an hour in hand, I decide to head into Night Flight for a last look around. I don’t really expect to do anything, because I am down to my last 5000 RUR (which I had budgeted for the escort girl), but I figure it is worth the price of admission (750 RUR – including one drink) just to window shop! So I blow into Night Flight sometime after 3:30 am and ask if the cover charge is still in place. The girl tells me yes, but the big bald guy who is in charge, and recognizes me from Tuesday, says it’s a slow night and I can just go in and look around and if I want to stay, pay the cover.
Inside it is completely dead! There are maybe 4 or 5 girls, and only two of them free, one of them with a fabulous rack on display. So it is not going to be a lot of fun window shopping, unless I just want to buy these girls drinks in this pathetic Saturday night morgue. Instead I switch tactics and explain I have less than an hour, a place two minutes away and 5000 roubles. They laugh at my offer and explain that it is 8000 roubles minimum. So there are limits to price elasticity at Night Flight, even at 4:00 am on slow night! I did not really expect anything different, but figured it was worth a try and it does no harm to the system to try to drive down the prices and be prepared to walk.
I go out and thank Baldy for letting me in. He explains it is the slowest Saturday night he has ever seen. I go back and finish my beer and my airport transfer comes at 4:30 sharp. In truth I did not really have time to bring a girl home. Could I have gotten serviced on site at Night Flight? I should have asked.
So, in summary, I had a lot of fun, but not as much sex as I had expected. I mean, a two-city tour and screwing only two different girls does not make for an unqualified success. But I had fun, made progress and learned a lot of things. I am optimistic I will do better next time, especially given the leads I have developed, which I will cultivate in the meantime.
A couple of lessons or observations:
The apartment thing works, but I would certainly upgrade a lot next time. I don’t think the blondes would have been overwhelmed by my digs, no matter how conveniently located. And overwhelming them is what I was after!
Airport transfers – arrange that through your apartment agency if you can, so that they can coordinate keys and documents and all your problems are in one basket. If there is a problem with the apartment, you are not left out on the street corner trying to find a taxi to take you to some alternative address.
It is difficult to over-estimate the burn rate of the cash you go through! I had more intimate relations with ATM machines than with dyevs!
It is very difficult for newbies to get around or find things. I had notes of a bunch of different clubs or bars from ISG, but did not have addresses for them all – I thought that I would just see these places as I walked around Pushkin Square! No way, I needed detailed addresses, and even then it usually took me several tries to find a place. It helped once I picked up Exile at TGIF, but even that was after a few days trying to find a copy of Exile!! Grab the business cards or menus or whatever of places you want to return to, to show to taxi drivers. If in an apartment, find a landmark nearby and get a card for it – that is your “hotel card” to get you home at night.
Keep your papers and consulate information on you at all times! I know there has been a discussion here about whether you need originals or copies and whether you really need to register your immigration card – my advice is do it by the book! I got stopped twice, once in the taxi and once on the Metro with the blondes (they explained that police often stop pretty girls, especially if with a foreigner). I am glad I had my papers in order.
Do full cost accounting when making economic choices. When ordering in, make sure you factor in full services and taxi money. When trying for in-house services at a strip club remember the cover charges and all the drinks and other dancers before you end up in a private room with the woman of your dreams. When trying for freebies remember the drinks and dinners and shopping that all add up. And remember the security fees at hotels if you are bringing in girls, versus free passage at apartments.
Boyfriends are not real obstacles unless they are standing right in front of you, and maybe not even then. Not a silly question at all! I still have yet to find anywhere in Kiev where I can watch an evening baseball game (have to resort to staying in).
The most likely places are the obvious - RP - it subscribes to Sky Sports which has the rights to the Super Bowl in the UK and definitely shows the Sunday regular season games if anyone asks. The Arena sports bar is also a good option (again it subscribes to Sky Sports). I think Arena claims to be open 24/7, so times definitely won't be a problem. I think RP shuts at 6am regardless of what is on.
I would also be surprised if someone didn't organise an event around it, regardless of the times. This is worth looking out for as it can be a pain. A friend of mine was at the RP for the World Cup final and said that you had to book a table for supper as otherwise you were stuck watching the game on the small screens at the bar with loads of people cramped together.
Yes, I'd also consider Arena in my limited experience. A number of large flat screens and open late. And some freelancers at the bar to boot!

You posted a blank page. Are you trying to be funny like there are no reputable agencies? If so, I may agree with you because nearly every Rusian or Ukranian I come across seem to be driven by money. Sometimes it is easier to deal with an American girl who has money but just has an emotional need. I am keeping my options open. I figure if I am going to spend the money to travel and fuck 25 girls every 3-4 months, I might as well get to know these girls and perhaps reduce my costs long term. I'm not current on the Kiev scene having not been there for a few months, but I remember Tato as being pretty lame. They had a fashion show which featured sexy women, but I got nowhere when trying to talk to the models after the show. Very standoffish. Most likely already spoken for.
There were some decent normal birds there, but nothing super special.
I personally prefer Kaif, PaTiPa, Arena, 112 and Decadance... but as I said, my experience in Kiev is limited.

Cruiser recommended clubs in Kiev. Arena, 112, Orangeina, Caribbean, PaTiPa, Shooters, the bedroom of whatever apartment I happen to be staying in. That's a mix of clubs catering to a bunch of different styles. Personally I have Banker pegged for an Arena type of guy - as far as I know outside of the privates clubs it's the #1 upscale club in Kiev, if there is something else feel free to tell me. I'm sure I left a few good ones out but those are the clubs I bump around to when I am in Kiev. If anythings changed I'll toss in an update during or after my next trip.

Orangeria burned down... there was a big black hole in the Arena complex where Orangeria used to be when I was there late summer and I was told there had recently been a fire.
Probably remonted by now, but I have no new info.
I like Arena personally and (almost) always was happy there... same with Kaif.
Orangerea is open again for some while. It was indeed closed due to renovations. The clubs Cruiser mentioned are indeed the clubs to go and the place where the action is. Besides those there are two other new clubs in Kiev that are hot at the moment. It is Forsage and Prime.
About Forsage you can find some nice movies on youtube and Prime is the new Club outside of the city centre. It is situated where Club Rink was situated before.
Personally Kaif, Forsage and Arena rule!

The pros you will only find there. Not on the other floors. Because on Saturdays there is often the TV-show “Comedy Club” recorded, the p4p girls arrive late. With regards to RP I was talking to one of the managers there yesterday and it will not close after the winter. The original plan was for a new boat to arrive in the spring but due to delays in the shipyard it is going to be business as usual for the foreseeable future. The main problem with RP is not even the price... its the attitude of the girls.
The prices aren't user-friendly either though... just like Night Flight in Moscow, unless you come there ready to throw cash around and pay $300 for 2-3 hours of fun with a pasty-faced 7, you ain't gonna have a good time. Considering taxi to and from RP will cost you about $30 and drinks + entry are also at least $50 total, a night at RP can rapidly become a $400-500 endeavour. Other options are so much more cost-effective and not nearly as demoralizing... :)
Of course you can always wait around until 4am when the girls are ready to go for less, but this in itself is degrading. In fact, that's the whole problem with RP... it's the gentlemen's club where the client is degraded and reduced to being a pocketbook... and not the way it should be... where the girl is reduced to a piece of purchasable meat... :)

The Kiev English paper has some interesting classifieds -- and those prices are a lot more reasonable -- like $70.00 to $80.00 for one hour. If you can travel "sight unseen" then this is not a bad option. I did ask the operator what if I don't like what I see -- she told me "give her 20 grivnas for the taxi and she will leave immediately". I am staying in an apartment without a door viewing mechanism !!! but took the chance and was most impressed.
Honestly -- there are not too many bad looking women in the game ..... so take the chance and drive the prices down at RP.
I did try the other route to market -- making contact on other sites, sending email and then arranging a meeting place. This is difficult because of the language and then again, not ensuring of bed action afterwards. Those ladies are looking for green cards and husbands.
Got 2 nights to go -- maybe Arena tonight for a cold beer and food, with the added value of seeing who else is loitering around the bar in the middle of the ground floor restaurant -- and by the way, the food is pretty decent too.

Hanging around RP till the wee hours of the morning is generally a waste of time. I don't know who is more desperate - the guy looking to score a deal or the girl waiting for the Dnipro metro to open. I've scoped that scene after a very heavy and rare night of drinking. The best I'll do is $150 for a few hours maybe $200 if she is super hot.
If you want to view a selection type situation try the apartments between 2100-2300. You get more bang for the buck if you know a little Rus.

Having been here (now a third time) I really have to admit that this Kiev is not going to get a listing on my "favourite locations". Without a basic knowledge of the language this is a tough city -- almost a torture test !! The people generally are very much in your face (which could be interpreted as rude) but they too, generally are leading tough lives and it certainly shows.
Kiev is as far east as I have experienced -- and am looking forward to a Moscow visit soon, but I am sure, pretty much the same.
This is the only city that I have visited where every cab destination is a negotiation !! and the prices vary dramatically. Hardly any english spoken by these drivers, so be warned, take a business card of the residence to show the driver, because you will need to negotiate the rate.
Example -- from the Premier Palace Hotel to RP, I have been quoted from 80 down to 22 grivnas .... so I took the 22 rate, took the dudes card, called him back 3 hours later and came back for 25 !!! I am staying in a very nice apartment block (Pyrohova Street) north of the PPalace ... this is a complex that was fully renovated one year ago, and a lot of the international embassy and consulate staff stay here.
This must be a decent area because there is a very fancy restaurant/coffee shop across the street, that had a Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes (fancier models) and a Porsche parked outside it on Sunday. Some young kid was taking a picture of the Lambo and was nearly assualted by the bodyguard. Who the hell goes out for lunch and takes a guard to watch his car ???
This is a tough location for a business trip -- my two business meetings today were exhausting with simultaneous translations ... but these guys are obviously getting it right .. for now they are "western wannabees" and so are the ladies. I’m headed to Kiev and will be in town on Dec 26th. Originally I had my Russian girlfriend from Latvia going with me, but she decided to be in love with someone else (bigger pocket book I’m guessing) and split on me. So, I’m going stag, so I’ll be on the prowl, I’ll probably have a better time anyway.
I’ve done Riga Latvia, Krakow Poland in EE for mongering, both were totally played out. Riga was good before they started having all these big world events there. I’ve done all of Asia, but unfortunately those skills outside of bartering for price are useless in Europe.
So, what I usually like to do is get a girl before I go out for an hour or two and then go hunt for free pussy. I’m 33 sometimes its hit and miss, but I’ll pull some every now and then.

You will find adequate english speakers (afterall they know their market, advertise there, and provide english speakers) on the phone .... and you will be pleasantly surprised with the value (price to service), and go from there.

So everyone has a first impression. My first impression of Kiev was pretty good. It hasn't even been a day yet and I've seen a lot of what this city has. So the taxi driver that I arranged ahead was a shy but nice guy. He later drove me around for free. My total bill was $25 from airport to apartment and then a drive from Independance Square back to my apartment which is at just two blocks south of Arena. So I come back to the apartment to settle the balance, and lo and behold, a hot chick is the translator. Long story short, she's hot but very prude. She recommended me places and we walked up and down main street, but she doesn't go to clubs herself cause she's a smart girl - more of a homebody or the type that just sits around and not eat, cuz she's pretty skinny too.
So the Arena seemed like a cool place/location. Semi-nice attempt at having a nice mall there too. There are a lot more nice cars here than I thought there would be. Nothing compared to London in terms of Phantom, Lamborgini, or Ferreri sightings per day ratio... but still a lot of Benz and Lexus... even Porsche....
Anyhow, now that the early evening is done and my translator/customer service rep has gone home after "working", I'll hit up maybe TGIF/Arena. Though, I think the Forsage place is awesome, I have no idea where it is in relations to where I am, and I haven't seen the classic places yet. Definitely need to go to Forsage soon though cuz I think the uni girls will be more my type.
To the comment about a stolen jacket: Thank You. Unless I am in a Mayfair club in London or midtown Manhatten. I will never check my coat, scarf, or gloves... thanks for confirming that decision. If Ukrainians are as bad as you say I won’t feel bad exploiting them, I have the same opinion on South Korea. That’s thing about places like this, there dishonest, and cut throat. Kiev does not seem to be a good place to go if don’t have experience. I’ve been to some of the finer crap holes in this world for work and play; I hope I’ll be able to manage. I live in West Europe were the sex industry is totally regulated and efficient, it’s alright but I like EE better, even though there’s the chance of getting ripped off.

The holidays in general, whether western or Ukrainian, are a slower time than during normal season. The only large party is on New Years... on most of the other days people go home to be with their families, which for many Kiev students means leaving Kiev. Things normalise after about Jan 14.
This doesnt mean its going to be bad from Jan 1-8, but many places will be slower than usual.
I have been in Kiev for two NYE's (soon to be three). It's the smallest celebratation of any major city I have been in during NYE. Sure there are festive events going on but nothing generally wild - you want wild in Kiev go in May-June.
The commercialized Christmas ethos (December 25th) seems to be creeping into Kiev slowly but surely - I'll never forget the look on a gold diggers face when I told her Christmas should be about being together with family and loved ones - not about giving presents. Otherwise the Holidays are Dec 31st-Jan 1st New Years and Orthodox Christmas on what, Jan 7th? As Brandon pointed out Jan 1st-8th are considered a general holiday. Old New Years, which Tartan mentioned about the 2nd week in Jan isn't much of a celebration - just another excuse to get drunk. ;)
Speaking of celebrating... There were two occasions recently that took me by surprise...
Fireworks! The first occasion was a Saturday night in late November, where K-street was lit up for about 20 minutes. Then again in early December on a Weds night about the same. First time, someone mentioned a wedding. Second time, I have no idea (assuming nobody gets married on Weds). I hit the deck thinking there was shelling going on around 9-10pm. Really low airbursts that echo'd off the buildings. Very surprising.

Just spent a few days in Kiev, and it wasn’t what I expected at all. Allot of you were right when you said that the town was dead this time of year, it was! I was one of the few Westerners in the town as far as I could tell. Normally this would be a good thing, but in Kiev it just makes you more of a target, anyway here are my observations.
First the bad:
You need to speak Russian, even simple conversation skills would be good. I only speak a few words and it was not enough. Almost all of the other foreigners had translators or sponsored girls with them. If you can’t speak Russian or hire someone who can, don’t go to Kiev!
The town is huge, you can’t just walk around it like you’re in Riga or Prague, and you will need taxis, which are allot of trouble if you don’t speak Russian. There is no centralized bar area.
Kiev caters to business people not regular tourists. The town is not cheap the way you would think it would be. $300 a day will barely get you laid, feed, and drunk, and that's not including accommodations.
There’s allot people who try to scam you at all times. It could be a simple as not giving your change back, to even more mean spirited shit. Here’s a scam to watch out for. When you are walking and see someone drop money in front of you, just leave it on the ground! DO NOT TOUCH IT! I tried to return it and was accused of stealing part of it. Luckily I got away by going into a restaurant, and asking the manager for help. They did not follow me inside. I met a another guy who had the same scam pulled and he said he got surrounded by two other guys, one he thought was a fake cop and he got them to go away after giving them $20. A stripper I talked too said they always do this scam with Westerners, and it’s quite common.

River Palace: Of course I had to go here, after reading about it on the ISG. Really weird place, this must be Russian style, because of I’ve never seen anything like it. I was there about 2300. Lots of super hot chicks even a few tens that were just sitting around and waiting for you to talk to them. I was quoted $300 for two hours from an eight and $600 for all night with a ten. Decided to leave alone and hit up a strip club after that. Also seems like reserving a table is a must if you want to stay there.
Penthouse Strip Club: This place was not too bad, lots of 8s and 9s. A few English speaking chicks. Allot of Russian speaking business suit types tossing around U.S. Dollars. I got a girl I would rank 81/2 out for $300, she was supposed to stay for with me for 4 hours, but left after I got two shots in her after an hour and half. Yes, ripped off again, I suppose I had this one coming to me!
Another time, I called one of the escort numbers out of the back of "What’s On Kiev magazine," got sent a chubby blonde for $130 for two hours. She spoke good English, and proceeded to tell me her life story, suffice to say I sent her home early after taking my frustrations out on her.
GIA Girls Escorts: These guys are on the level, and I was not disappointed. I had Dasha, http://www.gia.com.ua/girl/dasha/ she was fantastic! Two hours for about $180. Got 4 shots in, gave her real workout. Has the best tits, I almost thought they were fake.
After finishing up with Dasha, I tried to go to Area on a Thursday night. Got denied at the door. I was wearing business casual, no tie, just a silk shirt and slacks. I stood back a watched who they were letting in, nothing but men in full suit and ties, and women in evening gowns, might have been a special occasion. Also the service in the sports bar bellow was terrible.
Club 112: I went here after not being able to get into Arena. It seemed alright, this is where all of the other foreigners seemed to be at. Lots of girls, as far as I could tell most seemed to be pros, didn't find any English or German speakers. Lots of guys with sponsored girls laying all over them. Had a few beers and went home.
I rented an apartment from Kiev Grata Apartments http://www.accommodation.kiev.ua/ nice place on 3 Bassina for $65 a day. They even gave me a refund when I left early. Honest business as far as I can tell.
To answer a few questions I’ve seen, I never saw any street walkers on Kreshatik, and you can get U.S. one hundred dollar bills out of all ATMs.
I don’t think I’ll go back on unless I go with a friend. I was in way over my head with this place (didn’t know what was going on except what I read on ISG). It was so boring in the daytime, there was almost nothing to do. Unlike other tourist’s places, other tourists there were not very friendly, so unless you have a girl or are with a friend you’ll be sitting alone allot. For the amount of money I spent, I could have more fun and fucking in Germany or in Holland where I live. I ended up cutting my trip short by 5 days, and don’t regret it.

You really don't need to speak Russian - I don't, but you do need to know what is going on so it is kind of a catch 22.
I thought I had given you my mobile in Kiev? You should have called or sms'ed. I would have helped to salvage some of your trip. I have already helped out one ISG'er who had a really bad experience and was going to cut his trip short. Nice to hear the apartment agency refunded the days you didn't stay. That is extremely unusual.

The wallet scam...
I had a couple of related experiences that I thought were kind of funny.
Once in Kiev I was walking towards the metro station (one of the non-central ones in the north, forgot the name) and saw a 100 griv bill on the ground... without pausing I swooped down and picked it up and kept walking, got on the train and left. Only afterwards did I stop to think it may have been this dropped money scam... but in retrospect I think I just got lucky and found 100 griv. In any case I was so focused on making it to my date in time that I ignored everyone around me.... maybe there were some goons yelling at me I didn't even notice... :)
In Moscow walking on Tverskaya somebody in front of me dropped a 1000 ruble bill and I picked it up and yelled at the guy who dropped it, but he just kept walking, so I kept that one too...
As for Kiev not being monger-friendly, I find the city itself to be considerably easier to navigate than Moscow with English only, but it's true that any amount of Russian will help you in all aspects of daily life, including mongering. Mongering in EE is very different than mongering in Europe or Asia for that matter... no matter where you go in EE successful mongering depends on a lot of self-initiative and some experience, particularly in negotiation which is further compounded by the inability or unwillingness of some hos to speak English. Rarely are things simply "put on the menu" as they would be in a German FKK or ho-filled HK or Pattaya beer bar. For me, that's part of the charm...
...that said, I personally believe Kiev is still quite easy to navigate compared to many other EE cities. I had no problems even years ago with little experience and almost no Russian. The only annoyance now is the price increase and performance issues... such as the increasing prevalence of CBJ vs. BBBJ.

English vs. Russian:
You don't absolutely NEED Russian, but it certainly does help especially in daily life situations (taxis or shopping) and in identifying and picking up pros. More English is spoken in Kiev than many other EE places I've been to however.
Taxis:
Yes, unless you stay only on Kreshatik or in the Bessarabsky area, you'll need to use taxis. Speaking English only will double your costs. That said, it is possible to monger and have fun just staying a pedestrian on Kresh with an occasional taxi jaunt to RP, which every taxi driver knows in any language.
Prices:
You can get be for less than $300/day easily enough... but sticking to high-priced RP and escort pros will blow your budget. Eating/drinking on Kreshatik is almost at European levels in terms of price. If you are into incall pro service in your own apartment as I am, $100/2 hours is the minimum. Many agencies at this price.
River Palace:
It's part of the tour. I don't hate it, but rarely enjoy myself there. Still, it is a place everybody should go to and get their own impression.
Arena:
There must have been a special function that night. They let every passably-dressed foreigner in normally.
112:
That place seems to be more and more ho-oriented form the reports I've read... anybody have more info? I've never personally met a pro there myself.
Daytime activities:
Go to a museum or take a walk on the hill. There is no reason to be bored in Kiev at any time of day or night.
Apartment refund:
You got lucky. Refunds are usually not given in EE... not because the agencies are necessarily out to scam you, but because they probably already paid the owner of the flat and that money they ain't getting back. Perhaps it was one of the agency's own flats.

112 bar has gone from good to bad. Over the summer the ratio was 50/50 pro/non pro but comments here are accurate. It is now mostly pro except maybe on a Thursday which is "ladies" night.
Prices qouted were 200/250 but fell to 100 rather quickly and it's a much better buyers market now as there are fewer toursts.

I totally agree with what you’ve said, I did manage to get out too see some sights in the day and had a couple walks at night. You have to love a place where they sell Soviet aircraft and tank parts as tourist souvenirs. It was amazing to see that all the old Soviet statues and hammers and sickles were still up everywhere. One problem I did have was the tourist maps were in Latin, but the street signs were all in Cyrillic.
Should I have given it a few more days there, yeah probably, but I don’t regret going back early. I was going to stay 9 days and just stayed 4. There was just something about the place; I just didn’t have the patience with it I should have. Did meet one nice girl there I will see again, so the trip was not a total loss.
I met a Brit and a Frenchmen at the airport on the way back who had similar experiences as me in Kiev, but they knew even less about the town then I did. What I learned from ISG helped allot. If Kiev could get its sex and nightlife industry easier to navigate, the town would be allot better. At the same time though more tourists might make things worse. I think it’s also possible the pussy prices could go down, if the place went more mainstream. I could be wrong though.
It’s funny to think that the EE sex industry has raised their prices so much that short time German and Dutch prices are actually cheaper. The best thing I like about EE is the escort in call in an apartment. Here EE is still the king.

Had a wonderful time in Kiev a couple of weeks ago, wanted to update you round-the-world RB adventurers.

Well I am back in kiev afte a long time away. How things have changed. It is little more expencive then i remeber. Still I have not had much chance to get out. Gia has been around seemingly forever here. They obviously have paid the right people in the highest places in order to remain in business this long (and likely still do pay). Nothing wrong with it here, just a normal and necessary way to do business here.
One of their most successful niches is catering to the foreign businessman such as yourself. You come in for a week, speak no Russian and you want instant and immediate no work gratification and pleasure knowing what you see on the site so what you will get. Within reason, of course.
There is also nothing wrong with that knowing that you will pay much more than locals or those who speak Russian and/or Ukrainian and can use local agencies and local ladies. Unfortunately that sometimes lead to local price inflation as well.
I agree that the other agencies should do something to compete with Gia but I suspect that there may already be an agreement that Gia will for the present time be a monopoly in this area. Ukrainians do not like competition. It leads to nasty things such as lower prices and worse yet, they have to then work to get market share. Better to do nasty things to your competitors in order to ensure your monopoly. It is simpler and cheaper.

Most of the other sites really are not good. About the only one I can recommend as being close to Gia is http://www.top-models.com.ua/?l=en
They allow you to search by a number of categories, not the least of which is "real photo." A number of ladies do show their real selves. That is not to say that some of the real photos are also fake. They are, that is the reality of web sites here. However, at least this is a better site than most. Reliable is not a word I would use here about any lady or any agency, Gia included. The last thing anyone here in the sex business is is reliable.

Sorry to be off topic.Availability is fine with the guys I suggested, a weeks notice should be ok. I've had to shuttle around before but only when I gave them a days notice.
Cable TV can range from BBC world + CNN in English to BBC prime and the Turner movie channel but not much more than that. If the place has a DVD, then movies here cost about $7 to buy.
Check-in would be 1 of the manageresses meeting you at the apartment with keys etc. If you use the airport transfer then maybe the driver will have everything with him.
Payment is the 1st night in advance with the balance in cash on arrival.
As there is now snow in Kiev, a central address is the wise move.

The easiest thing for check in/check out is to have the agency pick you up at the airport. It ranges anywhere from $20-40. That way they know where to take you and can call the manager when she will ineverably be late.

well, after a year away from eastern europe, i'm finally back. after a fantastic weekend in moscow i landed at borispol sunday night, and found that i was quite lost. none of the old phone numbers worked, and i only had a vague recollection of the places i visited last year, so i wasn't quite sure where to go.
fortunately, the battle-scarred forum professor cruiser d offered his help in getting around kiev, and starting tuesday we went on a grand tour of kiev strip clubs.
rio: we started in this place tuesday night. it's a small one-room joint with like 6 booths. it was full and they weren't letting any people in. there's a stage with three dancers on it which rotate. they don't come up to you or anything after the dance - you have to attract their attention while they dance and ask them to come up to your table yourself. the club had maybe 15 girls rotating, and i found only one of them appealing. however she avoided eye contact the entire time she was on stage and never came up to me. i also liked this one waitress, asked her for a phone number, and she gave me a schpiel about how she never gives it out to patrons, blah blah blah.

The most clubs and restaurants you can find in the centre area, but that does not mean that this area is the best place to hang out. All over Kiev you can find some nice places. But the centre area is a good place to start. The streets you mention are good places to have an apartment, especially if you are new to Kiev. It is all situated next to each other. From there you can easily reach some good action on walking distance.
When you are on Bessarabs’ka square you are at the beginning of Krasnoarmiskaja Street (Chevronoarmyiska Street) and at the end of the Khreshatik Street. You are also at the beginning of Shevchenka Boulevard and at the end of Baseina Street.
Next to Bessarabs’ka square you can see Arena city and on the other site you can go to for instance Fridays restaurant. On the back of Arena city you will see Mandarin Plaza. It is on Baseina. Walk around these Streets and the little site streets for a few hours and you see so many clubs and restaurant that you don’t know anymore where to go. I think by searching and reading this forum you can easily find out where the action is.

Of those areas, I prefer the Bessarabsky area... probably because Arena (currently closed for remont I understand) was always a welcome option for me and it is right there. Ismael is right though, all of the areas are central and that is what matters.
One note though, in Kiev there isn't a single "where the action is" place. Top clubs and so on are spread throughout the city. Kreshatik is the center and there is plenty to do there... you could stay a week in Kiev and never leave Kresh for that matter... but many of the famous clubs mentioned here are a 10-20 minute cab drive away from Kreshatik and often located completely on their own away from other bars or clubs.
When budgeting your trip, don't forget to budget in about $50/day for taxis. Will be more if you do a lot of club hopping.

You are right. Most trips are 15-20 Grv. I miscalculated. I probably take the taxi about 6 times a day at 20 Grv = 120/5= $24.
My bad.

Yup, just to add an extra warning about the taxis, always, always agree on the price before the trip, and never, ever agree to go on the meter. 30 hrivnas will literally take you from one side of town to the other, so no trip around downtown should ever cost you more. The cabbies will hear your accent or see you with a broad and quote you 50 hr or 100 hr or whatever. Just walk away and try the next street corner.
There are a lot of unfortunate visitors paying outrageous prices for taxis in Kiev, and that's a horrible way to get ripped off. Save it for the more enjoyable activities.
First off we will deal with information that really might matter - taxi's.
Wally - Dr - men at the opposite ends of the spectrum; Wally, I don't know where you have been traveling to in Kiev but catching a taxi to anywhere in Kiev for $2 or 10hrv isn't very viable. Even before the Orange Revolution. True I used to get fares around 10-15hrv but it was rare and for a very short distant. Now it cost 20hrv to go from one end of Khreschatyk to the other, actually 20hrv seems to be the standard for traveling anywhere in the center. But you can still travel to the other side of the river for 25-30hrv - so there is an obvious premium for traveling in the city center. Dr, honestly I really can’t picture spending $50/day on taxi’s (you can rent a car for $30) unless you are putting a lot of girls in cabs for the ride home. If you speak Russian well use taxi agencies to get around, simply call them and they will come to pick you up. I took one taxi who used the meter - which is so far the first and only time this has happened to me. I was going from Manadarin Plaza to Pidol it usually costs 20-25hrv, with the meter it cost 28hrv. I could be wrong about my rates but the girls seem to confirm it - it could also be I haven't been taking too many private cars during this trip.

I have to say, Kiev's just not the right town for pro action. In about a week I've been here, all my attempts to find pros were pretty pathetic. hit up too places last night in kiev:
1) carribean club, a salsa club. absolutely no pros (wasn't expecting any), but salsa clubs, in general, are good places to meet single non-pros. this place was no exception to that rule. chatted up a couple, but wasn't going anywhere, so headed to rp (for the first time).

On Wednesday morning I depart England and head to Kiev for the third time this winter. $60/hour - the catch is she doesn't speak English, and doesn't like going out to bars/clubs/etc - so she only finds clients online, and only ones that speak Russian.
There are also apartments around, with a handful of girls at each, for around $60/girl/hour - the catch in these cases is the girls are usually 5's, at best.
