i was in kiev this week and i wish to share my experience. i assume jedi punters will not find it of any use, but it might help some newbie, who knows?

time to address the rp issue seriously: i do need to find a consistent alternative. for my own sake, first of all: i always come to kiev on business trips: put simply, day=work, night=fuck. plus i always come for no longer than 3-4 days. the mamba. ru kind of stuff is both time and energy-consuming and i have neither of them. so for me the rp is (or rather used to be!) the ideal solution.

They even told me I can't stay in an apartment in Ukraine like this, I need to go to a hotel.

RegardsSomething similar happened to me in Kiev. I was walking through the underground passage beside Independence Square late at night. I had quite a bit to drink at this point. Two cops came over and asked to see my passport. I didn't have it on me so they told me that I have to go to the station with them. I offered them 100 gryvnas each and they let me go.

I was kicking myself, I knew I was supposed to carry my passport but I was worried I would get drunk and lose it so I left it in the apartment. On previous trips to other countries, mainly Thailand, I have carried around a photocopy but I had never been asked for it so I stopped going to the effort.

It pissed me off a bit, but what the fuck? Corrupt cops are an occupational hazard for an international monger.

I was stop by the police in their Soviet are blue jeep. I was coming back from VK Bar. It was me and my friend. I was walking in Les Ukrinsky blvd around 3:00 AM and they asked for my passport which I didn't have and they took us to a police stations which was really look like a class room. I try to bribe the police but he didn't take my money. He said it is protocol for foreigner to have their passport all the time. Anyhow I call the US embassy and they had someone talk Russian to the police officer and after like 2 hours they let us go. But US embassy was very helpful and they almost sent someone to get us out but by then they police let us go. From now on I take my passport with me everywhere, I know there is risk that I can lose it but it is better then going to police station. i have been stopped several times, and it has never been a problem, nor in kiev, nor in russia or wherever.

just a travel suggestion:

take with you:
a) a photocopy of the relevant pages of passport (visa if required or entry stamp, and the photo and data page).
b) a legal document from your countri thet you think you can loose without too much trouble: driving licenece, id card, etc.
c) a proof of your adress in kiev or wherever (ie rent contract, hotel card, houselord telephone and if you are obliged to it the number of the ovir registration).

i have never been asked for bribes or fines...

been bribed, but the right wort is fined and shouted by the police three times in 20 years in fsu.

1 on the highway from lvov to kiev, very close to kiev, was late and i was driving 150 km/h and the speed limit is 90 km/h (100-110 tolerated) 10 or 20 € with a recipe for some grivnas... in eu i would have missied the driving licence 60 km/h over the limit!

2 in tiraspol (moldova, pmr) for parking suddently and totally wrong and making the trolley bus loosing his contact with the cable line (snowy road) approx 1 € with proper recipe and a very angry young police guy (and he was totally right).

3 in a small airport in the middle of no where in tatarstan (not kazan) i was getting back to moscow after a quick trip directly from germany, i arriveddirectly in kazan and was leaving to moscow with another plane in another airport. 48 hours had gone and the guy at the airport asked me the ovir registration? ... ohhh the hotel will do it in moscow whitin some hours... the flight is just going so well before the 72 hours of law. and the policemen told me yes this is good but the law now is 24 hours did they not tell you at your hotel? ohhh shit no! ok 1500 rubles fine! and what's the hotel? we will fine them too. they do not do it so they do not register you and do not pay the taxes! paid and got a recipe... but of 1000 rur (500 was extra... for speeding up nad making me not loosing the plane...)

of course slow burocracy is normal and some "oiling" (for kiev a 200 grivna note and a big smile are accomodating almost all problems, 100 is enough outside) can speed up it in a unbelivable manner... ;)

We decided to go out and do some dancing later that night. We took a short nap and then cleaned up and she then gave me a fashion show wearing several of her hot little dresses for me to choose. I went to Kiev this weekend for a business trip. I'm a conservative newbie so consider that if you read my report.

It was a short, professional, work trip so bringing a pro back to the Hyatt hotel would not work for me (or my boss). I didn't check to see if the hotel would charge extra for a guest. The girls coming into the lobby did check in at the front desk, however. There were some stunners! I envied those lucky guys. Knowing my situation, I needed Out-Call. The rub is that the street signs will not say "Khreshchatyk", it will say, "Xpewatne" in Russian I guess. So you have to travel via landmarks. Rakuena Spa is one street past "Kiev passage" (McDonalds) walking away from independance square on the left hand side of the street. Again NO sign will spell out Lyuterans'ka! So it's one street past McDonalds (through the archway). All of the side streets are accessable from Khreshchatyk (you won't be able to tell from google maps). Go past first building on the right (just before the cafe) an go through black iron gate to first building on the left (6b) but the b doesn't look like a regular b! Second floor, apartment 40.

Whew. I made it (finally). Sunday around 2:30 in the afternoon. I was met by a beauty. I was hoping she was giving the massage but she was just the receptionist. She led me into a small room and asked me what I wanted ("one hour body massage for 450") was my reply. She spoke pretty good english. Waited about 4 minutes for a view of 4 girls. Three were 7's and one was a 9. Easy choice on my part. She was about 20, 5 foot 7 and 115 pounds with beautiful brown hair and olive skin with see cup breasts. On Sunday 29 Aug, Indepencance Square had a DJ outside spinning mixes. It could be heard for miles! The beer vendors serve their local beer for 6 UAH. Yes, less than 1 dollar for a pint of beer. There were at least 300 people dancing around the square (they close off Khreshchatyk Street to cars on the weekends). I didn't notice any hookers just lots of young hot women dancing and having fun. I'm sure there were pros there but none approached me. I had a couple of beers and walked down K street to the "Arena" (about 3 blocks away from the square). The dance bar is closed until mid Sept so I hailed a cab to Shooters at about 10pm.

Shooters had good reviews in the forum minus the guys who couldn't get in. I was pretty sure that I'd get in (well dressed, in shape, 40ish tourist white guy). The Kiev cab deal. They want 50 UAH everywhere! Out of respect I negotiated 35 UAH from the Arena to Shooters. Shooters has one main entrance with the lunch restaurant off to the left. I call it the lunch restaurant because the more formal restaurant is upstairs (one flight of stairs up). Both restaurants have the same menu. Upstairs has live music (sort of). Singer with a flute backup. Good singer but kind of funny trio. At 10pm there was no cover so I just went upstairs. I guess I passed the white (I mean face check. Whew!) The first platform was where the disco was located. I looked behind the red curtains only to get yelled at in Russian by the bouncer. The forum didn't mention that Sundays is ladies night until midnight. The coat check and formal restaurant is upstairs. I sat at the bar upstairs and had a beer (24 UAH) 3 dollars (sweet!). Met some good guys from England with the same agenda (to get laid) so we talked about the local talent and my massage experience. We grabbed a table and had some food. I've heard the food is good but the menu looked just a tad pricey. 220 UAH for a simple chicken dish and no Chicken Kiev! I had the Veal rolls with feta cheese and potatoes for 180 UAH. 22. 50 dollars for Veal is a good price but 28 for chicken is on the high side in the US (I'm just saying.). Kiev has prices all over the board so I'm going to mention it. The food was very good.

There were lots of hot young girls coming up the stairs for coat-check at 11-12 and going back to the disco where they had male strippers dancing on stage (I think. I was yelled at, remember!) I had high expectations for the disco. At 12:15 the crowd thinned out upstairs so we decided to head downstairs. FYI the restaurant upstairs did have some hotties. They were all grouped together at their own tables so we didn't try to approach anyone. Everyone was at tables. Only 5 chairs at the bar. None of the girls looked hookerish (IMHO). They just looked like hot young girls going out to a disco. Anyway, downstairs we go!

70 UAH cover please. Even though we had drinks and diner upstairs they still wouldn't waive the 70 UAH cover. Damage 9 dollars but you get a free Vodka (big pour) and they hand you a can of redbull as you enter. You'd pay 14 dollars for that kind of drink in the States so Shooters is still up there as a pretty good deal in my book. The disco was busy but not overly crowded at 12:15. Lots of hot young women. The Russian type women all seem a little hard to me. I grew up in the South (Georgia) where women smile and look you in the eye. You have to pin down a girl in Kiev for her to look you in the eye. I was with 3 other guys and we met other english speaking guys downstairs and all had the same impression. You have to assert yourself (go up and ask if you can buy her a drink even though she isn't looking at you). This was weird for me because I'm used to the eye flirt first. Once you bought the drink she seemed to be happy to speak with you. Again, this was the general consensus from the group. One guy had an arranged girl (pro) at his rented appartment so he left at 1am (lucky bastard). One guy was negotiating with a young beauty and had her down to 250 dollars when I left at 1:30am. She was probably 19 and amazing. Again, we are all in our late 30's, early 40's but in shape and do pretty well with non-pros in their late 20's early 30's. Bringing a pro back to the Hyatt wasn't an option for me because of I was there with a conservative work group. Earlier that day I had a great massage for 56 dollars and a 19 dollar tip. Overall Shooters is a good affordable place. I will try D'Lux next time I'm in town. Much more expensive but I've heard it's packed with lots of professional talent. Always fun to watch anyway. I will still be in the same frustrating situation where I can't bring a girl back to the hotel so if anyone has a good suggestion I'd love to hear it.

So if they dress nice they expect you to as well.

For you the dyevs may try to check for labels, but you can always pass it off as exclusive in your country, or "tailor made". But generally I find for freebie hunting a nice quality shirt is fine, and occasionally I'll wear the jacket from a suit. Just be warned if you look expensive and smart you will attract more attention, but beware that more gold-diggers will be after free meals without any thought of having sex with you.

More precisely, for clubs, something like a dark (usually black) Zegna or Pal Zileri shirt or sweater, stylish vintage Diesel jeans, a labeled belt and Berluti shoes. A nice coat that looks expensive is also something of importance in winter. Also, I wear optical glasses and in this respect, Barton Perreira is the top currently, it gives a real style. The latest touchscreen mobile phone and the expensive watch are also magnets for girls.

It sends the right message I think (and it doesn't necessarilly make of you a target for the goldiggers). FSU dyevs place an IMMENSE importance in style and clothes, even more than in looks. Anything less than a man who *looks* successful is not a man worth fucking in this part of the world.

Very nice 4 level restaurant, disco, bar. But my experience there is that if you are dark skin (black, middle eastern, etc.) the girls would not talk to you. I am in my mid 30's, good looking, dress well, and speak flaunt English and American but from Middle eastern origin. As usual I started my preparations on Mamba 1 month before arriving to Kiev. Honestly, I don’t know any other sites to find freebies or P4P in advance, but that doesn’t matter. Mamba more than fulfills my needs.

The flight from Dortmund to Kiev was delayed 45 minutes, so I arrived at 16:45. Passport control and luggage pick up took about 30 minutes. As something new you don't have to fill out any registration form when you arrive to the country (at least if you come from a non-visa country). All I had to show was my passport and the slip from the flight ticket. The officer in the passport control asked about my address in Kiev and how long I was going to stay there, and that was it.

Irina, a 22 year old studentka, was waiting for me in the arrival hall. She is no stunner, but a normal Ukrainian girl, and the chemistry between us is good. Furthermore, she is a very active, smiling girl with good English skills.

We went outside and took a taxi. Previously I have avoided using these taxis, but Irina told me it was okay as long as she negotiated the price. We arrived at the apartment – a 1 bedroom apartment on Luyteranskaya Ulitsa for 55 € per day – around 18:00. After exchanging money and settling in at the apartment we went for dinner. Irina took me to a restaurant with a name best translated into "You're Welcome" in English. It's located on the street behind Khreschatyk metro station (the street on right side of Khreschatyk station). It's a Ukrainian restaurant, but there is also an Italian and Turkish kitchen on the same premises. The Ukrainian restaurant is self-service, meaning that you pick the food yourself on a trade and pay by the cashier. The price for food and drinks (2 large beers) was 120 grivna. This is a very good deal if you want to try real Ukrainian food and are on a budget.

Later we went to "Crazy Mamma", a small bar and quite popular among local students. Price for most drinks like Mojito, White Russian, whisky & cola gin & tonic: 39 grivna! It doesn't get much cheaper than this. I don't remember the prices for beer, just that it was equivalently cheap. The bill including tips was about 150 grivna.

Around midnight we went to "Karaoke Kaiserhof", a small karaoke bar nearby. I got quite a surprise when we arrived: Around 25 girls – most of them very doable – and only 7-8 men. There were no WG's, but this could possibly be a place to go just to have fun and maybe pick up a freebie during the evening. I had a very good time listening to the girls singing Ukrainian and Russian songs. I made contact with an English speaking girl sitting at the table in front of us. Natasha and I went to D’lux Friday afternoon to pay the 2000 grivna deposit for the table. D’lux is located next to Dynamo Kiev stadium, a 15 minute walk from Independence Square. It’s truly a massive club. Wardrobe and toilets are located on first floor, lounge and restaurant on second floor, dance floor area on third floor and a balcony with a view over the dance floor on fourth floor. There’s also an outdoor terrace, but I didn’t see which floor it was located on.

Friday evening I met with Mascha, the girl I had to beg for her forgiveness, because I didn’t believe her photos were real. She is a 23 year old semi blonde with a very pretty face and slim body. - “Karaoke Kaiserhof” (bar). Ukrainian karaoke bar. Cheap.
- Tsarske Selo restaurant. Ukrainian food. I always eat here when I’m in Kiev. Mid-range.
- Da Vinci restaurant. Italian food. Another of my favorite restaurants in Kiev. Expensive.

More precisely, for clubs, something like a dark (usually black) Zegna or Pal Zileri shirt or sweater, stylish vintage Diesel jeans, a labeled belt and Berluti shoes. I've been using Mamba very intensively for about a week now and have to admit, I'm already getting a bit tired of it.

Search for "Kiev" to "Harkov", several direct trains.
Consider about 45Minutes by bus from Borispol to railway station, in case it is not rush hour.
There might be a queue at the ticket counters in the railway station. In the morning not so busy; longer queues in afternoon/evening.
To be on safe side, think about 45 min. bus ride, 30min waiting time for bus, 30 min. to buy train ticket.
In case, you have time left, you can go by metro from railway station to the very centre for some short sightseeing.

In the Rus hotel where I usually stay while in Kiev, you have to bribe the security so that they let the girl in; but the good side is, if they see the girl coming back down without you accompanying her, they will call to your room and ask if everything is okay. I wish you luck. When I was in Kiev 6 months ago I went to a salon in the downtown core - right behind TGIF (don't tell Bez, we are keeping all the good salon info secret from him!). If I recall correctly it was 90 Euros for standard service, which was not great. There are several others in the same area, but I expect they are all pretty much the same.

I don't know the salon world, so probably there are many cheaper, and hopefully some better, but it will take some work and trial and error to find them. Trust you will report your results.

About safety, I wouldn't worry to much. These stories about drugs and robberies are not normal. Most of the time things are pretty safe if you are careful. Lock up your valuables. But scamming, well, you will have to watch for that always. But again, if you are doing salons, that is not an issue. You get for what you pay for - it is a pretty simple deal.

Don't overpay, guys.
Call 309 (Absolut Plus Taxi) and they'll even call you back. 25 Grivni up to 6 km, 30 Grivni up to 10 km and 2.60 grivni/km beyond that - in other words, 30 Grivni will get you anywhere in Kiev you'd care to go to, even collecting girls from their home far beyond the Dnepr bridges. I know that 300 for a private car is expensive compared to other alternatives (bus, regular taxi, ect), but the two things that made me considering this options are that I will have two big bags filled with winter clothes and coats (gonna spend two months in Kharkov), and also a rather large amount of cash. Call 309 (Absolut Plus Taxi) and they'll even call you back. 25 Grivni up to 6 km, 30 Grivni up to 10 km and 2.60 grivni/km beyond that - in other words, 30 Grivni will get you anywhere in Kiev you'd care to go to, even collecting girls from their home far beyond the Dnepr bridges. The price to Borispol Airport is 125 Grivni, though they sometimes add 10 grivni to that due to heavy traffic.

Downside: sometimes all operators are busy or no car can be found. These are the cheapest taxis in Kiev, and reliable as well.

Seemingly hotels are a safer option than apartments. In the Rus hotel where I usually stay while in Kiev, you have to bribe the security so that they let the girl in; but the good side is, if they see the girl coming back down without you accompanying her, they will call to your room and ask if everything is okay. (This is not systematic, though.)

Plus there is a safety box in the room where you can put the valuables (iPhone, cash, etc.). Anyhow, a good night. Only bad part was the taxi driver dropped me across the street drunk and I had to take another taxi for 30 grivnas across the street because I was so lost. A 90 grivna mistake for getting home, but not bad. Everything else was cheap.

Have you been to both? They don't' resemble each other so much, although from the Rakuena website, it may appear that way. The website looks really good, but the salon actually isn't such a high class one.

Was in Kiev again last weekend, am there now half of the month, great place, still getting to know it though.

Friday evening the Buddha Bar was relatively full with pro's, Saturday was packing. I have never seen it that full, maybe it was an exception, or the invisible hand of supply and demand working its' way around the closure of RP and Mandarin. In any case, also during the week, no problems in finding p4p there.

Prices quoted between US200 (reasonable) and US500 (silly). Took a nice 30 year old with me, went dancing in the Caribbean, took her home, had good sessions before and after breakfast, paid U200. She is a keeper for the lonely winter nights.

Better still is the freebie mamba carousel, if played well, and if you are willing to invest in a couple of evenings out before any real action (some of them really play the role of "nice" ukrainian girl to perfection), the problem quickly becomes one of time and not opportunity. I am almost 50, my target is 30-35y, and there is an almost endless well of intelligent, well educated, professional woman, who are willing to date, dine, dance and ultimately drop their pants for a nice foreigner. Getting them in the sack the first night is of course the objective, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. For me it does not matter much, I love the "game", and as I am there so often now, no problem to cultivate a few, and harvest another few during the weekend.

A question to the more experienced, are there any nice "neighbourhood" bars in the centre or Podol (where my apprt is), just to have a beer and a snack, mee the locals sort of. Buddha Bar is nice, but hardly a place any more where you can take a non-pro for glass of wine and relax, too many pro's. The OK Bar is nice, but not very romantic inside. Clubs and restaurants plenty of course, but does any one know of a nice non-pro bar ?
